Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to The Young Turks, the online news show. Make sure to follow and rate our show with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five stars. You're awesome. Thank you. All right. Welcome to the Young Turks, Jake Huger and Anna Gosparing with you guys. I don't know if it's a lovely or unlovely Thursday afternoon. But as usual, of course, we have lots of news for you guys. And we're going to get to start right away. We've got a ton of news.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Casper. Yes. All right, well, I want to start off with an important update to the Brianna Taylor story because this, if you aren't infuriated by the story already, this should infuriate you because it shows you just how little the cops care about human lives or even doing their jobs remotely right. So the Louisville Metro Police Department finally, after a lot of pressure, released the incident report involving the night that Brianna Taylor was shot and killed in.
Starting point is 00:01:30 in her sleep by cops who entered her home with a no-knock warrant. It was a case of mistaken identity. They were looking for someone involved in some sort of drug crime, but they went into the wrong home and the plane closed officers then proceeded to, again, shoot and kill Breonna Taylor while she was sleeping. And the incident report is basically blank. It's not filled out. It has very little detail into what happened.
Starting point is 00:02:00 In fact, there's a portion of it that lies about what happened. So let me give you the details of what we know so far. The police document states Taylor's name, a case number, and the time of date of the shooting, but leaves blank details already made public, including her date of birth. Also blank is the section for injuries, while the section for forced entry, this is where the lie comes in, is marked as a no, despite the use. of a battering ram. Again, these are plain closed cops who forced their way into this home and proceeded to open fire and shoot and kill an innocent person as she was sleeping. It lists her
Starting point is 00:02:44 injuries as none. She's dead. And even though she was shot at least eight times and died on her hallway floor in a pool of blood, and that's according to her family's attorney, It also lists under offenders, the offenders portion of the report, the three officers who fired in Taylor's apartment fatally shooting her, including Sergeant John Mattingly, 47, Miles Cosgrove, 42, and Brett Hankison, 44, none of these people have even been fired. They've been reassigned, including the detective who ordered this no-knock warrant. They haven't been fired. They've been reassigned. They haven't faced any criminal charges. That's where we are when it comes to this horrific story. Okay. So you look at the sheet itself and like there's just giant blank fields
Starting point is 00:03:42 where you would write what happened. So a lot of people are calling it blank, but to me it's loud and clear. What it says is the police are above the law. We're not going to fill out the forms accurately and the parts that are uncomfortable for us and might get us in legal trouble, we're not going to fill it out at all. And even though there's a massive case with national attention, so what? What are you going to do about it? We're the cops. We have all the authority. We have immunity. We have badges. We have guns. This is not a mistaken identity like, oh, they went to the house next door, the apartment next door. No, the real guy was 10 miles away. and they had already gotten them.
Starting point is 00:04:26 So there was just absolutely no need for it at all. Later, they make up something about how she might have been receiving an illegal pact, just that turns out not to be true. Why? Because you have to smear the victims. You have to, why, to cover your ass, right? And they've gotten away with it for so long. They do it in such brazen ways.
Starting point is 00:04:49 And this filling, or not filling it out, is basically a way of spitting in your face. and say, yeah, what are you going to do about her? Okay, we run this country, and I don't care how much natural press this has gotten. Yeah, they're not fired. Yeah, they're still getting paid. And by the way, you guys remember her boyfriend, they're plain clothes. They bust into their home had fired a warning shot, which is about as good as you can do, right, in terms of not being aggressive. And they charged them with attempted murder in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Why? cops are always right. If they kill your girlfriend, well, then you're guilty. Have we mentioned they're African American? So I'm sure that has nothing to do with it at all for the millionth time in a row. Yeah, what would a young white couple do, right? If a group of people busts their way into their home, plain clothes, no indication that they're police officers. What would they do? I mean, Would they just say, oh, this must be a cop, and maybe this is a case of mistaken identity. So let me not respond or not react in any way whatsoever. This happened at 1240 in the morning, okay?
Starting point is 00:06:04 Again, plain closed police officers. And let me be clear about one other thing. No, there should be no such thing as a no knock warrant when it comes to a narcotics investigation, okay, there just shouldn't be, there just shouldn't be. This is crazy. And it's just, the way that they fearmonger about supposed crime in this country is exactly what leads to people who buy into the propaganda and the smears that these police departments put out there about the actual victims, like Breonna Taylor, who was asleep?
Starting point is 00:06:39 Who was asleep? So for all of you morons who share those annoying memes online about like, you don't want to get shut by the cops, maybe don't mess around with crime. Rihanna Taylor was asleep. She was asleep, okay? So do you have a meme to answer that? And that's the most frustrating thing in the world. Like, memes on social media, and I'm not, I'm mostly talking about like middle age people who don't read the news. They've completely replaced common sense, actual research. Like, oh, I don't need to read about what happened. There's a meme that goes along with my preconceived notion. So let me go ahead and smear the very people
Starting point is 00:07:19 who have been brutalized and victimized by the cops over and over again. And you know what? I want everyone to listen to what Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, sounded like as he called 911 begging for help. This is a difficult audio to listen to, but it's important for people to know. This is what black Americans have been dealing with for a long, long time. 911, operator Harris, where is their emergency? I don't know what's happening.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Somebody kicked in the door and shot my girlfriend. What was she shot at? I don't know. She's on the grill right now. I don't know. I don't know. Okay. You said she's 26?
Starting point is 00:08:04 Is she alert and able to talk to you? No, she's not. Breathe. God. Help. Oh, my God. Yes. What's your name, sir?
Starting point is 00:08:15 Help. Oh, my name is kid. Walker. And you said she's 26. Can you check and see where she's been shot at? I can't know that somebody. Okay. Is she alert and able to talk to you?
Starting point is 00:08:33 No, Brie. Okay. I'm facing here. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Can you get her turned over on her back? I do you to check and see where she shot at. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:08:49 I'm going to go, Mama, I'm going to go, you back. Kenneth. That were killing his girlfriend and shooting at him, and who would later lie and try to arrest him instead. So what are people supposed to do? Anna, to your point about things you see online from right-winger, they say, oh, yeah, when you're in trouble, who are you going to call? Well, Kenneth Walker called the police.
Starting point is 00:09:19 And it turns out it was the police who were shooting them. And so it's easy for you to say when the police have been protecting you. And if you're wealthy and white in this country, I get it. You're perplexed. It doesn't match your experience at all because cops are lovely to you. You see them at the bagels shop. They're so nice. They're there to protect you, etc. But for poor people in this country, for African Americans in this country, Latinos, you go on. That is not the same cops they see. They see cops barging into their homes.
Starting point is 00:09:56 And then, look, the insult to injury is the blank form like, ha ha, we're above the law. But it's also the nonstop lies. Like, no, there was no force entry. It's like almost a form of torture. It's so obvious that we're lying, but we're going to lie right to your face in front of everyone. And we're going to get away with it. So, what was the battering ram? Did it sound like Kenneth Walker was saying, hey, yeah, oh, sure, come on in and knock the door
Starting point is 00:10:25 down with your battering ram. No, it was obviously a forced entry. They're obviously lying. And they put it out publicly anyway, because, ha ha, there's nothing you can do about it. We're going to rub your face in it. All right, we got to take a break. We're going to do that, and when we come back, we have some updates on how Trump is further tensions in the country because he has no idea and has no interest in actually helping to
Starting point is 00:10:53 heal what people are going through right now. We'll be right back. We need to talk about a relatively new show called Un-F-The-Republic or UNFTR. As a Young Turks fan, you already know that the government, the media, and corporations are constantly peddling lies that serve the interests of the rich and powerful. But now there's a podcast dedicated to unraveling those lies, debunking the conventional wisdom. In each episode of Un-B-The-Republic, or UNFTR, the host delves into a different historical episode or topic that's generally misunderstood or purposely obfuscated by the so-called powers that be. Featuring in-depth research, razor-sharp commentary, and just the right amount of vulgarity, the UNFTR podcast takes a sledgehammer
Starting point is 00:11:44 to what you thought you knew about some of the nation's most sacred historical. cows. But don't just take my word for it. The New York Times described UNFTR as consistently compelling and educational, aiming to challenge conventional wisdom and upend the historical narratives that were taught in school. For as the great philosopher Yoda once put it, you must not learn what you have learned. And that's true whether you're in Jedi training or you're uprooting and exposing all the propaganda and disinformation you've been fed over the course of your lifetime. So search for UNFDR in your podcast app today and get ready to get informed, angered, and entertained, all at the same time.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Back again, Turks, so I'm going to go to the members section as usual, smooth rights in. Even responding to the who are you going to call is feeding into the framing, 95% aren't calling to get rid of the police. People want to. better policing and sweeping reforms. Who are you going to call a policing unit that is well-trained, empathetic, and responsible? Don't feed the anti-reform framing. I actually totally agree with that. I want to talk more about that in some of the context of the stories we have today. Eclectic miscellaneous says, first it was driving while black, then running while black, now sleeping while black. There's something horribly wrong with the police in this country
Starting point is 00:13:10 when you can be killed in your house in your sleep because of the color of your skin. Cray Souflai says, welcome to living black in America. Trust me, it ain't like the Cosby Show. Grilled hot dog has a unique suggestion, Anna. This one is for you. He says, you need to give a thousand dollars so you'll be on Jenks' wall. Always be in his head. I mean, I don't need to give $1,000 to make that happen.
Starting point is 00:13:36 I mean, when I debate him, I know I'm in his head, like, for the rest of the day. So got him. Oh, sure, sure. Okay, and he's referring to the donor wall that we have here. If you give $1,000 to t.com slash go, you're literally in my room. Evan B, Alex Wolfe, Mike Scott, Dennis Corotio, Hirishi. Oh, that's a good name. I know.
Starting point is 00:14:03 There's a lot of good names. So I see you guys every single day, and I appreciate you every single day. You also get the press on hoodie with a super cool TYT, Mike. If you give $127, we gift you the shirt version of that. And so thank you guys for making that happen. By the way, if you wanted to, you could also name it after someone else. That's what we did on our original daughter wall, and we have all these wonderful members who put my son's name, my daughter's name for Jill Pike's name. Somebody put Istanbul Turkey, because they are proud, okay?
Starting point is 00:14:36 You can name it anything you want. You can name it after and if you want. All right, last thing, two on YouTube super chat. Franklin Shrepsch slicer writes in Ann Ann and Jank, you make this old fart stop and think. The old ways aren't going to do us well. So progressives, please save us from hell. So that's an interesting message. Thank you for using YouTube super chat. Finally, Parker says, genuine question. Why does Jank keep saying just get us to 2021 and we'll be okay? Because digital media is nearly impossible. My guess is that in about six months or so,
Starting point is 00:15:11 another 50% of digital media companies will be bankrupt. So the only reason we're still in business is because of you guys. And other businesses, they were relying on companies and kind of advertising gimmicks. We were relying on our actual audience. And so you're carrying us. That's why we're doing t.yt.com slash go. Otherwise, we'd also be in trouble. But I think that we're going to turn the corner in 2021.
Starting point is 00:15:39 I think I have good reason to believe that. Because guys, I got news for you. I don't want to keep asking you for money. And people sometimes say, oh, yeah, Jake, you do that's uncomfortable. You think that's going to ask me. Of course it's not comfortable. But at least we're doing the show together, and it bonds us together forever. And so I'd much rather be responsible to you and responsive to you than to some advertisers.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And that's being proven in spades in hard times like this. So everyone, including anyone who gave even a dollar to tyt.com slash go, we love you and you make this show possible. All right. Listen, the progressive message is unstoppable and can't be attacked when it's supported by the audience, right? Right wingers do all sorts of shady things, you know, try to dissuade advertisers from advertising on programs like ours, for instance. But who cares? If we're supported by our members, that's all that matters. If we're supported by the people who watch the show and contribute to the fundraising effort,
Starting point is 00:16:41 that's all that matters. We want to be able to speak clearly, honestly, and unapologetically. So thank you for allowing us to do that. All right, let's do the news. Can I just say one more last thing? Thank you, Anna. Also, membership makes a giant difference because membership gets you all of our shows. So there's something you're getting, right?
Starting point is 00:17:00 You're getting actual programming like Netflix, but for progressives. And it helps sustain us. And again, it makes us responsive to you. So t.wit.com slash join. If you're already a member, you can do t.yt.com slash upgrade. And if you're watching on YouTube, you could hit the join button underneath. Facebook has an option to join as well. And so please check that out and participate.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Thank you guys. All right, go ahead. Yeah. Donald Trump has been hiding out in his bunker for quite some time now. But every once in a while, he'll peek his little head out or he'll pull out his phone and he'll tweet something to try to sound like he's a tough guy. And today was no exception. He decided to go after lawmakers in the state of Washington where protests continue.
Starting point is 00:17:49 In fact, protesters have managed to get cops in one specific precinct to vacate the premises. And I'll give you the details on that in just a second. Before I do so, I want to tell you what Trump is threatening to do. Radical left governor Jay Inslee and the mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great country has never seen before. Again, this is Donald Trump who's been hiding out in a bunker. Take back your city now. If you don't do it, I will.
Starting point is 00:18:20 This is not a game. These ugly anarchists must be stooped immediately move fast. Now Donald Trump is a laughing stock. He gets clown on every single day because his cowardice is undeniable. And so the response from Governor Inslee goes as follows. He said a man who is totally incapable of governing should stay out of Washington state's business stoop tweeting, which of course, you know, he's calling out Trump's spelling error there. And then the mayor of Seattle, Jenny Durkan, says, make us all safe.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Go back to your bunker, hashtag Black Lives Matter. Now, Trump has threatened to send the military to cities across the country where these protests continue. And obviously, there are huge issues with that. But let me just tell you what's going on in Seattle, because this is the kind of protesting the type of movement that Trump is terrified about. So the demonstrators in Seattle had briefly taken over City Hall this week, calling for for Mayor Jenny Durkan's resignation and the defunding of police.
Starting point is 00:19:30 They also established the Capitol Hill autonomous zone in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood after police agreed to leave the area. Facing a growing backlash over its dispersal tactics in the aftermath of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis, the Seattle Police Department this week offered a concession. Officers would abandon their precinct, board up the windows, and let the protesters have free rain inside. So, Jank, what do you think happened? Did it turn into complete chaos, lawlessness, you know, an unstoppable crime because the cops agreed to vacate that area? Well, I'll show you a video of what the scene looked like, and then we can comment on it. And I guess. Once the cops
Starting point is 00:20:16 left, there was total pandemonium and people started ripping each other to shreds. somebody got the conch, another person was, you know, thrown over a cliff or whatever happened. Names were called. And then all of the left-wingers started crying and pleading for the police to come back. That was probably their biggest in their mind, right? Is that what it turned out? Of course not. Let's show them. The scene actually looked a lot like what white people enjoyed during Coachella and California. Let's take a look. I'm gonna get it, right? I'm sorry, hey, I'm sorry,
Starting point is 00:20:55 having, we're gonna do me. There's a lot to comment on here. Let's take you one step out of time. So I'll start with the smallest game to the biggest. The smallest is the tweets, right? So it's not that I don't make spelling errors on Twitter, I do, and then somebody will comment out and I'll go, oh, wow, that's right, my bad, right? we're all humans. That's not a big deal. And then I fix it. But he won't fix it because he's just
Starting point is 00:21:57 like, well, if I spelled it wrong, that's how it's spelled. He, I mean, remember when he did Coffefe and they're like, what the hell is that? And he's like, it's a secret thing that you wouldn't understand. They literally said that. I know, I know. It was a real code word or something Because the dictator cannot do anything wrong. The dictator has no anus. This is like North Korean propaganda, okay? So, and then he says he's threatening to use the military again inside city. You can't do that.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Even though with the Insurrection Act, the governor has to ask for it. Obviously Inslee is not asking for it. He's doing the exact opposite. If he put the military inside Seattle, it would be the most illegal, unconstitutional act we have ever seen in our lifetimes by a president, any, I mean, he should immediately be removed from office. Obviously, the elections are on the corner. Obviously, Democrats are scared. Obviously, Republicans are complicit. But it would really, it would be even beyond anything Trump has ever done, which is a very, very high bar, right? So in terms of the protest themselves, look, I knew
Starting point is 00:23:03 what would happen. We saw it in Occupy. Of course, they're not going to devolve into anarchy and, you know, starting weirdly doing violence against each other. In the long run, do you need policing? Of course, I guarantee you right now that they, within that community, even in that zone, they are doing some form of policing, somebody walking around and makes sure that there's nobody coming in from the outside looking to cause trouble, because eventually, likely there will be outsiders who will come to cause trouble. You can tell their outsiders, because in the beginning, there's no sure.
Starting point is 00:23:37 trouble at all when it's actually the left-wing people who did this, right? But at some point, agitators can go in, et cetera. But that doesn't prove the point that cops are awesome. That proves the point that you can do policing better, that you could actually serve the community and set it up in a way that serves the community rather than think that occupies the community and thinks that the community is the enemy. Right. And, you know, I've seen some of the, I guess, community policing that's taken place during some of these protests, where looters are coming and they'll try to cause problems,
Starting point is 00:24:17 and protesters will literally gather together in front of the stores in order to prevent it from happening. So the point of these protests, I mean, our audience already knows this. It's not about violence. It's not about looting. It's not about vandalism. It's about fundamentally changing a system that has not worked for the majority of Americans, really. It's not just about the racism in policing. It's about the excessive force that we've seen across the board. I mean, it's crazy, Jank. There was a story that we did back in 2016 that I still have nightmares about. It was a man who was traveling for work and he was in his hotel room. And I don't remember exactly what kind of, it was like a BB gun or something that
Starting point is 00:25:02 he had in the room with him. And someone calls the cops, cops show up. The guy is crawling, he's on the floor in the hallway of the hotel, begging them, begging them, please don't shoot me, please don't shoot me, please. He has his hands in the air. He's doing everything he can to show that he's not a threat. They shot him anyway. It was just a horrific video to see. And he wasn't black. He was a white guy. Now, this disproportionately impacts black people. There's no question about it. But if we just turn the other way and pretend as if this is a small problem, we're ignoring the countless Americans who have unfairly, innocent Americans have lost their lives because of this ongoing violence. And so this is about changing the system. And don't let anyone
Starting point is 00:25:51 convince you otherwise, right? The people who think that, oh, this is so terrible. They're so mean to cops and they're making blanket statements about cops. No, it's a blanket statement about the system that empowers cops to act this way without any worry of consequences later. And we've seen that over and over and over again. I don't know if you guys saw Killer Mike's speech right after the unrest in Atlanta. And so for a couple of days, there's a little bit of looting and writing, as you all saw on your screens, local news ran it like, you know, Ryan Porn 24-7 and made it seem like it was nonstop. It was everywhere.
Starting point is 00:26:30 But it largely stopped. And Killer Mike had a great, great speech. And he said, look, don't burn down your own house, burn down the system. So he's not letting up at all on getting radical change. But people largely heeded that advice, obviously not just from Killer Mike, but from all the leaders of the movement who, said, yeah, let's actually figure out of what to do this better. I mean, look, Camden defunded their police a long time ago before the movement, partly because they ran out of money, honestly. And there was other factors involved, too. And then what did they do? They rebuilt it. And when
Starting point is 00:27:10 they rebuilt it, they did rehire 100 of the cops. But they built it in a way that was more responsive to the community. And every police officer has to go meet every person in his neighborhood, in the community that he's serving. And you know what happened? Oh, my God. The police have been drastically cut. Anarchy in the streets. No, in seven years, crime has gone down 42%.
Starting point is 00:27:33 It's amazing what will happen if you actually cared about the community, if you actually cared to protect and serve. So now that there's this autonomous zone in Capitol Hill, I just want to note two other things that I thought were kind of interesting. I'm going to go to the last two graphics. So one block had designated, had a designated. smoking area. I mean, like, it's crazy. Like, they are regulating the situation. It's like, secondhand smoke. It's serious. We want to keep people safe. Designated smoking area. All right.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Also, at the no cop co-op, people could pick up a free refreshment, okay, sparkling water or a snack. No currency was accepted, but across the street in a not-to-capitalism, a bustling stand was selling $6 hot dogs. Like, it's just kind of in. Yeah, it's not the capitalism, by the way. That's a nod to hunger. We actually have to eat. So it's not a not the capitalism. Anyway, yeah, of course, the same thing happened in Occupy. You know, I went there, I covered it. There'd be little different communities. They even eventually set up a library. All of that, of course, before the great Democrat known as Mike Bloomberg came and steamroll them and crushed them into oblivion, who is now, of course, endorsing Joe Biden, and Joe Biden happily took that endorsement.
Starting point is 00:28:52 But overall, yes, of course. People set up communities with their own rules. There is no anarchy. You always need rules. The question is, do the rules serve the community or do they serve the powerful? Exactly. And do the people who enforce those rules serve the community? And those are the conversations that are taking place across the country right now. Well, let's talk a little bit more about what Trump's reaction is to all of this and what he's planning on doing. Donald Trump's rallies, unfortunately, are coming back in full force. In fact, he has decided that his first rally since the pandemic will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where there is just a horrible, horrible history of racism and brutal violence against the black community. We'll get to
Starting point is 00:29:45 that in just a second. But here's what we know so far about this upcoming rally. Trump has largely remained silent, as we all know, on the issue of systemic racism and resistant to some of the changes proposed in the wake of the protests. Now, in 1921, Tulsa was the site of a massacre of hundreds of African Americans during racial unrest in the historic section of the city known as Black Wall Street. There were more than 200 black-owned businesses. that were completely destroyed in the area. And this took place again on June 1st, 1921. And I don't think it's any mistake that Trump has not only decided on that location for this rally,
Starting point is 00:30:31 but he also decided on June 10th to be the day that this rally takes place. So June Teeth is when the slaves were freed in America. And so we're going to celebrate that here at TYT, as we did last year. We're going to do another special this year. But Donald Trump is not going to celebrate Juneteenth. He's going to the place where they killed hundreds of black folks. And this is very important in a place that was known as Black Wall Street. In other words, you know, they say, and back then, back then, too, that was 1921, almost exactly 100 years ago,
Starting point is 00:31:14 They say, oh, no, no, America is a meritocracy. And if you work hard, you know, you can get what you want. And if you don't have what you need, that's because you're a bum and you didn't work hard. Well, those folks worked really hard back then and actually became financially independent and some even wealthy. So they went and murdered them. So now all those families, instead of having that wealth accumulate for the next 100 years, went back to being. destitute, a lot of them orphans, and they ripped everything down. And now Donald Trump, on a day where we're supposed to be celebrating African-American independence, is going to, in essence,
Starting point is 00:31:59 celebrate the murder of successful black people in this country. It's, even for Donald Trump, it's the most outrageously over-the-top thing I've ever seen. This is not a dog whistle. It's a bullhorn. And, and so, and I think he's also making a political mistake. So a lot of Republican voters are subconsciously racist. So they have a sense of entitlement. This is my stuff, my country. I want to make America great again. I want my country back.
Starting point is 00:32:34 And we see it over and over again. But they don't believe that they are racist. They think that that racism is a bad thing. They're not racist. It's just everything is theirs and you shouldn't get any. thing, right? When you turn the dog whistle into a bullhorn, it takes away their plausible deniability. It makes it conscious racism. And I think that that it makes even people who voted for him in 2016 uncomfortable supporting him now. He's going too over the top. And I'm not talking
Starting point is 00:33:08 about the 28% that are sticking with him no matter what. We've talked about that number plenty of times before, every poll shows that even when Donald Trump does the most outrageous things imaginable, 28% of the country will not move. It's not because they don't realize it's outrageous, but for them that what we call an outrage is not the bug, it's the feature. So that 28% is immovable. But there's a giant difference between 28% and some number in the 40s that could win you a national election. And he's whittling that number down because he doesn't get it. He thinks that his voters are as racially racist as he is. You go in and doing this on June
Starting point is 00:33:51 Teethan in Tulsa is, it's just unreal. It's even if white folks don't understand it. I think we need to be real. We need to be real about his supporters, Jank. Like at this point in the game, we need to be real about his supporters. I'm not buying for a second that after everything that's happened in his term, that no, no, this is the moment where his overt racism is really going to persuade some of those supporters to no longer. No, they support him no matter what. And this isn't the bug. This is the feature. I mean, if it didn't persuade his supporters to stop supporting him after several children died in border cages, children that
Starting point is 00:34:35 he ripped away from, you know, their mothers as they got to the border looking for asylum, that they're not going to, you think him giving a speech in Tulsa, Oklahoma is going to change anything? Do you think the majority of Americans even know what Juneteenth means? I'm keeping it real. I'm keeping it real because every single day, Jank, we're confronted with the sheer ignorance of this country, okay? And people are going to get offended by it, but we're all on social media, we see it. We see it. Do you think that most people even know what black Wall Street is? Of course they don't. That wasn't taught in our schools. So many people have no idea about what the reality of this country is, who we are, what we came from. And, you know, when people see
Starting point is 00:35:19 protesters take down a statue of Christopher Columbus, they're like, what is this? Oh my God, Ted Cruz is right. It's the American Taliban. They don't even know what Christopher Columbus stood for for a lot of people living in this country today, right? The absolute destruction of Native Americans because of his discovery of this land. Okay. I mean, yeah. Hannah, look, we're not disagreeing that much. So do I think that a majority of white Americans know what Juneteenth is?
Starting point is 00:35:49 No. Of course not, right? Do I think that this symbolic gesture, a nod to outright racism is going to be the one thing That makes a difference. Of course that. It is the accumulation of all these things. So when he acts overtly racist like this over and over and over again, it causes two things. It causes his own voters to get uncomfortable because, remember, most people do not follow the news. So they have to see it two or three times. He has to do it 20 or 30 times for them to see it two or three times. The second thing that it causes is it causes, it forces the media to explain why he's going
Starting point is 00:36:31 to Tulsa, Oklahoma on that day. So for example, when Ronald Reagan did his speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi to launch his campaign, that was a dog whistle. Civil rights workers had been killed in Philadelphia, Mississippi. But back then, and all the way through up, up until Trump, the media covered for the Republican party no matter what. So they would not write in the article that Reagan picked that place. There's no other reason to go to a tiny, tiny little town of Philadelphia, Mississippi, to launch your campaign. Other than to say, and he did not mention the people who had been killed, it wasn't
Starting point is 00:37:10 an homage to him, it wasn't an oath to him, it wasn't any of that. No, it was to say the people who killed those civil rights workers, I'm on your side. But no one in the media wrote it. Since no one in the media wrote it, no one found out that he was a, that Ronald Reagan was a deep-seated racist who was using dog whistles. But in Trump's case, he makes it so over the top. You'd have to be absurdly negligent as a reporter not to write about Juneteenth and what happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the murder of all those successful black folks in this country. So then every article that has to mention it, and then it gets through to some people.
Starting point is 00:37:45 And we're trying to get between that 28% that like that stuff, we're never going to get them. And the 42% that oftentimes support. Donald Trump. The difference between that 28 and 42 is the difference between winning and losing, and by the way, potentially a landslide. If he keeps going this way, he's going to lose over 40 states. I think what persuades people to stop supporting him the most is pointing out how weak he is and how much of a coward he is. Which is why, by the way, when he had a spelling error in a recent tweet where he was threatening to send the military to Washington, A bunch of local politicians in the state of Washington started clowning him and his spelling
Starting point is 00:38:29 mistake and the fact that he's Bunker Boy. And you know what he did with that tweet? He deleted it. Because he doesn't like being called Bunker Boy because he knows that it hurts his, the support that he gets from his base because they've been seeing him as like this powerful, strong businessman, he's infallible, he's gonna protect all of us. No, he's a coward. And it's sad and pathetic when people see him as anything other than that.
Starting point is 00:38:56 No, to be fair, to be fair, he was going to go fight everybody by himself during those protests. But his bones spurs started acting up again. Oh, those bones spurs, pesky, pesky bonescure. They really are. They flare up at the worst possible times. But luckily, he got himself composed enough to go inspect the bunker. Right. Two and a half times.
Starting point is 00:39:21 All right. We're gonna take a break when we come back. We'll give you Trump's reflections on that moment where he had the federal police viciously attack protesters. And then later in the show, we'll give you an incredibly important economic update that I think most of the media is ignoring. We'll be back. Four.

Let's handle it there. Anna,
Starting point is 00:42:46 what's next? All right. More and more individuals are coming out against Donald Trump publicly, especially when it comes to his decision to use brute force against peaceful protesters in Washington, D.C. Also, he could take his photo op in front of a church in D.C. Now, the latest official who's speaking out against this is Joint Chiefs of of staff chairman, General Mark Millie, who announced that he actually regrets participating in Trump's photo op where peaceful protesters were treated this way. This message was actually aired during the graduation for the National Defense University. Here he is, and here's what he had to say. As many of you saw the result of the photograph of me at Lafayette Square last week,
Starting point is 00:43:34 that sparked a national debate about the role of the military and civil society. I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics. As a commissioned, uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from, and I sincerely hope we all can learn from it. We who wear the cloth of our nation come from the people of our nation, and we must hold dear the principle of an apolitical military. Because we have a growing list of, you know, generals who are speaking out, right? So Trump's own defense secretary, Mark Esper, I mean, he did it in, I think, the most timid way, but he still did speak out against what happened in D.C. Mad Dog Mattis, he was the most vocal
Starting point is 00:44:27 and strong in his messaging against what Trump did. And now you have the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Millie saying, no, this is wrong. And I don't agree with it. I shouldn't have been there and I'm learning. It gives me a little bit of hope because honestly, if Donald Trump wants to really carry out his fantasy of being a dictator, the only way he could do it would be with the support of the military. And I like hearing military leaders speak out against him because it gives me at least a little bit of hope that they would, you know, choose the right path for this country if things really did get to that. So, Anna, I think that this story is really important and great news for two different reasons.
Starting point is 00:45:09 But before I get to that, I just want to give credit where credit is due. I mean, you call them Mad Dog Mattis. Trump picked the better of the two nicknakes he had. And then in the middle of massive civil unrest like we haven't seen in our lifetimes, he made sure to tweet about that. Remember, between Chaos and Mad Dog, I'm the one who called a Mad Dog Maddoll Mattis. Oh, my bad dog, I didn't know. I didn't know. Okay, so good dog Trump on picking the right nickname. All right. Now, on of the super important stuff. So number one, you're right. The overwhelming biggest part
Starting point is 00:45:45 of this story is that is the joint chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, the top military officer we have in the country. If he signs with the president, if the president loses the election and wants to stay, then we have a massive, massive, historic, epic problem. This is him basically coming out and saying, I'm not going to do that. Because people started your concern. I told you when General Mattis wrote that scathing critique of Donald Trump, which he earlier had said that he was very, very reluctant to do. He wrote a whole book and didn't criticize Trump.
Starting point is 00:46:24 It just tweaked him around the edges but said, I don't want to get into the substance of it. But them using the troops in D.C., inside the country, had Mattis come out and write against Trump, and I told you at the time, it wasn't just because he was critiquing him for that. No, he was sending a message to the rest of the leaders in the military. Do not listen to this man if he loses the election and does not want to give up power. That is the single most important thing. So Millie doing this is saying, who cares of you, apologize for something that happened about a photo op a week ago? Like, by itself, it's important, but not as important.
Starting point is 00:47:08 But him signaling to the rest of us, don't worry. If he gives the order that he's going to stay, I'm not going to let him. That is the biggest relief there is. So at this point, for whatever other differences you might have with Millie, you have to be rooting for him to still be the chairman of the Joint Chiefs come, you know, November and then January of next year. Yeah. And I have, yeah. Okay, and I'll get to the second.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Go ahead, Anna. No, I just, I just wanted to say that I have no doubt that when it comes to General Millie's politics, he and I couldn't be more different. But I remember a time in this country where everyone, regardless of their political ideology, understood the importance of actually protecting constitutional rights, democracy, freedom. Now, of course, that didn't play out as much as it should have for various communities, including the black community in this country. Democracy wasn't always, you know, they've been suppressed from voting historically from this country, even today that's happening.
Starting point is 00:48:15 But my point is, there seemed to be a value put behind our constitutional rights. And now we're in this situation where the very people who claimed they cared about the constitution the most, right wingers who proudly describe themselves as constitutionalists and people who are against tyranny are now advocating for Trump, the president, to use the U.S. military against its own people, right? So it's just, again, politics aside for a minute, I'm just relieved to hear someone like General Millie, take the right stance on this. And I hope more follow.
Starting point is 00:48:55 So the second reason why it's important is, now, the rest of the media will not tell you this. Because that's their sources, their friends, they live together in Washington, et cetera. People in Washington, including almost all the politicians and almost all the generals, suck up the power. And so if they thought that Trump was going to win, Millie would have been a- At the very least, way more cautious. He would have been, he would have tread on that ground very, very lightly. And these generals didn't get to where they are without knowing how to play politics, okay?
Starting point is 00:49:31 He came out very forcefully to say, no, I shouldn't have done that, and I'm walking it back, okay? And send a clear message that the military will not get involved in politics, okay? So he's also basically there indicating he thinks Trump's going to lose. So he's now concerned about his career after Trump. I'm keeping it real, right? Yeah, no, it's, yeah, you're probably right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:59 And then he is, if he thought Trump was going to win, he'd be concerned about his career after Trump. And I'm not saying he wouldn't have said that, although I'd be surprised, but he certainly would have been a lot more careful. That was not a careful statement. That was a statement going, no, not going to happen. We're not going to use the military inside the U.S. And we're certainly not going to have Trump stay in office if he didn't win.
Starting point is 00:50:21 That's what that message was. And what's incredible is, remember, Donald Trump needed the help of the military and federal law enforcement in order to viciously attack those protesters, peaceful protesters, and it was before curfew even hit, in order for him to just walk through and do his photo op. And what's incredible is that while he's been hiding in his bunker, he's tweeting this. He says, our great National Guard troops who took care of the area around the White House could hardly believe how easy it was. A walk in the park, one said.
Starting point is 00:51:01 The protesters, agitators, anarchists, Antifa, supposedly, and others were handled very easily by the guard, D.C. police, and SS, great job. So, look, yeah, yeah, because there was a group of peaceful protesters who were unarmed and completely unsuspecting of what Trump was about to do. So it's almost like, I walked up to someone and I sucker punched him. Couldn't believe how easy it was. Like, okay. It's just, it's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:51:38 He's such a coward. You know, he said they thought it was quote unquote a walk in the park. You know why? Because it was literally a walk in the park. They had peaceful protesters in the park that you come in with armed guards. They don't fight back at all because they were peaceful protesters. And then you turn around and go, ha ha, ha, you didn't fight back at all because you were peaceful. That's why I tear gassed you and then attacked you physically. No, that's not ha ha. That proves their point, not your point. You should. schmuck, you adult. And by the way, we don't use SS as an abbreviation for the Secret Service for good reason, because that was the vicious arm of the Nazi party. So when you go around saying, when you go around saying, my SS cleared the peaceful protesters of the park so easily, it doesn't play well, but nothing that Trump does plays well. And look, last thought on it is I'm worried that the other reason for that tweet is to agitate people more.
Starting point is 00:52:50 To say like, oh, yeah, next time if you're a real man, you'll fight back. He's itching for a reason to crack down more, to divide us more. And he keeps calling protesters, including the very peaceful ones in Seattle, terrorists. He calls them domestic terrorists. He wants an excuse to use the military in the country now so that if he uses them, to try to stay in office after he loses, it's become normal. So he's literally trying to provoke violence in the country. So he counter it with even more violence. That's the sick, sick man we have in the White House right now. In the post game, we're going to talk about the economy
Starting point is 00:53:34 and the disaster that's coming up soon that Congress has not sufficiently even addressed yet. And we'll also talk about the latest Karen video. This one's a doozy.
