There's a secret that's deep within me that I don't really tell too many people,
and I think a lot of people feel the same way.
I feel stupid.
I'm like plankton.
I went to college.
I should feel like I'm so worthy.
I should feel like I have all the knowledge at my fingertips when I'm holding my phone, doom scrolling.
But I don't.
I feel stupid.
I feel like I have access to so much information.
I have so many opportunities to learn,
and I just don't take them.
I don't do anything about it.
Instead, I kind of just let it play out on its own,
and then, oh, if I learn something, I learn something.
But I wish that I was more intentional with educating myself.
It's something that no one really tells you as you grow older.
is that you have to be on top of your own game when it comes to learning,
when it comes to actually seeking out opportunities to learn something new.
You can't watch TV all day.
You can't scroll all day and then think you're going to learn something.
I mean, maybe.
Hold on.
What was the last reel I watched?
Oh, that's right.
I forgot.
The stuff that we consume is totally not built for us to learn anything.
And what is the point of life but to learn?
and enjoy and try new things.

but I feel stupid.
I feel so dumb.
I feel as if there's so much, but I have so little.
And if knowledge is power, then smart people,
I need you to help me.
What do I do?
One idea I had was actually becoming very intentional
and very disciplined about the books that I read,
but then I read a book that I didn't like
and I stopped reading.
Because reading sucks and it's boring.
So I was like, okay, maybe I have to go into audiobooks.
So I started listening to books.
And then I got bored.
So I stopped listening to books altogether.
Maybe learning is not actually about what you learn.
It's the pursuit of learning something.
It's the intentionality of trying to gain a new piece of information.
Because even the main thing that you might try to learn, you might not even need that
information, but the act of learning and trying something new is what develops your mind.
They say that you cap out your development as a human being at 25. At least your brain becomes
less plastic, right, and it's harder for you to learn things. And if that's the case, I only have
two years to really figure out what else I want to learn. And there's a lot that I want to learn.
I would love to learn a new language. I speak two languages right now. I'm bilingual. I speak
English and Polish, but I'd love to learn Spanish because you need to learn. You need to learn a new language. I would love to learn
Because you need that in the United States.
It actually taps you into a lot of cool stuff.
A lot of culture with Spanish.
I also really want to learn, I want to learn more about history.
I think history repeats itself a lot.
So I want to learn these things, but I'm past a classroom.

In college, I didn't really learn much because I was focused on building my skill set with video.
I built out a channel, a pretty decent channel.
and instead of, I guess, focusing and trying to pursue different knowledge,
I was so focused on pursuing one type of knowledge that I completely, you know,
it was all in or nothing.
I didn't think about the other ones.
So I need someone who is smart in the comments.
And smart doesn't mean you're a college educated.
Smart means that you feel as if every day you'll learn something new and you get smarter.
What do I do?
Is it as simple as making a list of books that I need to read and sticking to it?
Is it watching a bunch of top critically acclaimed documentaries?
Is it having a mentor who's a brainiac, a genius?
I just want to get smarter.
What do I do?
What do we do?
Because I don't think I'm alone.
I think there are a lot of people that feel like they're underutilizing the gifts they've been given and the ability to learn.
So I want you to think
So all my Zirky show viewers
All my Zerk fam
I want you to think
What is something that can make you smarter every day
What is something that you could learn
About yourself, about something else
That at least gives you some knowledge
For me
Something that makes me smarter every day
Is talking to other people
Learning about other people
And treating every conversation I have
With a stranger
As an opportunity to learn something
new. There's also a fly on my coffee, so hold on.
This episode is brought to you by FedEx.

Flies like coffee in Austin, Texas.
They love coffee.
So what is something that can make you smarter every day?
And I would love some answers because I don't know.
I kind of feel like I really want to be more intentional this upcoming year in 2025
with what I do, with what I consume.
There are so many movies that I have access to, right?
Like, we're on the internet.
We have access to every movie.
It's like a click away, you know, rent away.
And I haven't watched so many movies.
the incredible pieces of cinema because I just like haven't been intentional about it.
Instead, I just find a way to waste my time.
And I don't think that's smart.
So, yes, I feel stupid, but it is what it is.
Let's do something about it.
Let's change it.
