Starting point is 00:00:00 Sometimes I feel that the Joker is literally me. What? What are you saying? What I'm saying is I like to troll. I like to joke around. I like having a laugh. I think that humor really heals a lot of wounds. And if you're able to laugh at yourself,
Starting point is 00:00:20 you will have a great relationship with yourself. I've developed a lot of inside jokes, a lot of funny bits with my roommates, with my parents, with my loved ones. And it's awesome. It's awesome. But I do think that there are people who take everything way too seriously. It is not that deep. But it makes me ask the question.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Why so serious? Okay. Enough with that. Joker impression. bro relax it is not that serious it is not that serious
Starting point is 00:01:06 I have made jokes that have been offensive there is a difference between being offensive and someone who just doesn't know how to let go who when you make a troll at them they sit and go really oh that's interesting because no because you do this all the time
Starting point is 00:01:24 it's like bra like damn Daniel Relax. What? I'm trolling. People be sensitive, bro. That's what I've really learned. People are sensitive.
Starting point is 00:01:39 And you have to kind of test the waters, I think, with humor, because humor is a tool. Don't get it twisted. You can really get to the key of somebody's soul and somebody's heart through humor. But not all humor is the same. And some people, their humor is very dry. Other people, their humor is very tame. People like me, it's rotted. I have rot in my brain.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Like chopped chin, like Sigma. That's just swirling around. It's like, you know when you watch, I don't know if any of you have watched like the lottery, but low-key, I would watch the lottery sometimes with my parents. They would sometimes play the lottery or my grandparents. And it's like my, my brain just has like a lottery machine and it's whatever it comes out oh okay I'm feeling
Starting point is 00:02:32 sigma today that's what that's the that's just what I say I need to get it checked out bro I need to because this chopped chin I've been running it's too much anyways but I really also love ironic humor I love when somebody makes a troll and it's like supposed to be serious but it's not It's like a joke and you have to kind of find the irony. I love ironic humor. And I have found that not everybody likes ironic humor because I've made jokes where people are like, What would, what? You're gonna, what do you mean you're chopped chin?
Starting point is 00:03:12 I'm not, no, I'm not chopped chin. What? Huh? You understand Squid Game? No, I'm joking. I don't speak Korean. I would love to speak Korean, but I don't. I'm just making the joke that, oh yeah, I speak Korean.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I understand everything that they're saying when I don't. that's why I need subtitles on Squib Game. By the way, Squid Game Season 2, awesome so far on episode 3, tap in. Bro, but like, why are people so uptight? Why do some people not have senses of humor at all? I don't know if you all have encountered this, but I have met so many people who cannot laugh at themselves. They don't know how to laugh at themselves.
Starting point is 00:03:57 It's almost as if there is this, um, this like epidemic of letting, letting go of anything that makes your personality you. And part of that is humor. And I think I know why it's happening. I think it's because, at least in like a lot of my, my guy friend spaces, we consume a lot of media that is reflective of what we are experiencing. and a lot of guys, myself included, feel lonely. So we want to counter that loneliness
Starting point is 00:04:34 because we think it is something that is a problem with us because on Instagram, the guy that is in Dubai doesn't seem very lonely. He seems like he's got a couple of Bugatti's that are keeping him company. So it makes you feel a little bit sad or whatever. And so sometimes like the advice you get, is you have to you have you have you have you have to be serious be more serious be the mysterious man what some of the coolest people i know are the funniest people they're hilarious and they are
Starting point is 00:05:08 not afraid they are brave because they will make jokes even when nobody gets it they will make jokes and they will make those jokes the way they want to and you will have to learn their humor and be like okay that guy's funny actually their humor is pretty funny but there's this weird kind of like aura of like, no, you need to be serious all the time. You need to lock in all the time. You're in pain? Good. You ran seven miles today and you can't walk. Good. You'll learn to love it. Like, honestly, some of my favorite core memories were not the seven mile runs at 5 a.m. They were me laughing with my boy, Luis, as we were trolling about music or trolling about soccer or whatever we were talking about. And those were, those still to this day are some of my favorite memories.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Some of the inside jokes I have with people are hilarious. I love when I can go into my house. I smell the Japanese curry that my roommate Dylan is cooking and I say, Phantom Tacks, and I just grab, I don't actually grab, but I like take a piece of it and I eat it and we laugh and it's funny. But with some people, there's a lack of letting go. And I wonder where that comes from because there's another end of it where I have found myself being too, too troll.
Starting point is 00:06:50 I have been too much of a gym. of a prankster, of a prankster, of a class clown, that when it comes to being serious, people cannot recognize that. And that's also been, you know, it's a balance. Like, it really comes down to a balance of something that is healthy because there are people that you can't just take seriously because they're always joking. You don't know when they're serious. And there are also people who use humor to deflect. They like don't want you to know the person they actually are. So they're going to play these mind games and always keep you guessing. And, oh, this is painful because this is going to hit my ego. But I've done that. That's me. Hello. I've done that. I've done that.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I've been on dates. And I've had a hard time opening up because I'm like, well, what if this person hurts me? So I'm just going to, I'm going to be mysterious. I'm going to be alpha. And I've, uh, I've, like, put on this front and just made jokes. and as long as it makes them laugh that we're good. But, dang, I'm kind of eating my words because then it's like, well, why so serious, Sarkie?
Starting point is 00:08:03 It doesn't matter. You can just joke. But sometimes there is a time and a place where like the good thing is probably not to troll. It's probably to open up and just be honest. Want to go electric without sacrificing fun? That's the Volkswagen ID4. All electric and thoughtfully.

Taste, view, and enjoy, via rail, love the way. But it's weird because I weave humor into everything. And sometimes, like, you know, my expressions are funny.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Like, you know, I'll use, I'll be talking about a serious thing where I'm like, dude, like, somebody phantom taxed my bike from the library and it's gone. And, like, you know, it'll be funny, but it's serious. I'm like, I'm not happy that my bike is gone, but it's, I find humor in expressing that. I hope I'm making sense. It's not that serious. But there is a part of me that regrets at times being too much of a jokester because it has impacted the way people view me. And it's not something I can control.
Starting point is 00:09:43 But when I started being more serious or I tried to, people would think I was like joking. And I'd be like, no, like, what? there was one time I remember where I was being honest with a friend from high school and I was like this is a struggle that I'm going with like this is a struggle I'm going through and they're like oh it's funny and I was like what dude like I'm not joking like I actually went through this and they're like what and I'm like dude I'm being like so for real right now like I went through this and this was really affecting me and they're like oh oh that's weird and I'm like bro why And they're like, because you're, dude, you're the guy who makes jokes. Like, that's, what? Like, why are you being serious? So, lo-key, I don't blame people who are like, no, I'm going to, I'm going to be stoic.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I'm going to be serious all the time. It's a balance. It's about, it's about balancing that, you know. I think maybe part of it is, you know, I use humor because I want to be liked. I want people to like me. And that's something I had to figure out my relationship with because there was a long time where I would like make jokes because I knew that they would land. But they weren't jokes I thought were funny. I just wanted to be labeled as like zirky, funny.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Okay. Because if funny is zirky, then funny equals liked in most cases. I don't think that's right either. Like I think you should make jokes because they are funny to you. the person you're making the jokes for or like you're you're having that humor with like I wouldn't do that same phantom tax bit with someone I didn't know like that isn't my roommate because it wouldn't make sense and it would be like what you know it would be kind of weird and there are people that I have a very like humoristic relationship with that sometimes like
Starting point is 00:11:54 I get lost in that and I don't I have no idea who they are and it's weird it's it's kind of It's odd. But I think it's about letting your personality shine. Like real talk. I think that I've become more comfortable with who I am over time. And being funny is one of the things that I take pride in. And if I didn't take pride in it, if I didn't really like see it as a cornerstone of who I am and like my humor, then it wouldn't matter.
Starting point is 00:12:29 You know what I mean? It wouldn't matter. But it matters to me. And maybe it may. matters to you, the way that you make jokes and the way that you think you're funny, then like, bro, wear it on your sleeve, like, take pride in that. And just because somebody doesn't get your humor, it doesn't mean it, like, you're not funny and you, it doesn't matter and you're supposed to be serious. Honestly, there are very few people that get my real,
Starting point is 00:12:58 real humor and there's a good chance that some of y'all get it there's a good chance that some of you don't and that's fine it's not your job to get it and it's the same for other people in your life some people will get your sense of humor and other people just like we'll be like okay that's weird like they won't give a sigma and that's okay it's it's totally cool like you should champion the things that you find funny Medium Power 15 minutes. Sounds like Ojo time. Let's play.

Starting point is 00:14:06 For Jeff, trying any salsa is like playing Russian roulette with a flamethrower. Luckily, Jeff saved with Amazon and stocked up on antacids, ginger tea, and milk. Habaniero? More like habanier, yes. Save the everyday with Amazon. Now, okay, if, What you find funny is offensive.
Starting point is 00:14:35 And you're kind of tearing a line. Be careful. Okay? Be careful. Because in retrospect, there are certain things I have laughed at that after experiencing them and having other perspectives, I've realized, oh, like, that's not funny. But then there are other things that I have experienced firsthand
Starting point is 00:14:59 and make them extra funny. Like a $60 chili date, dude. Oh my God, I will never let that go. I will never let that go. That is ludicrous. But it was worth every penny. But yeah, it's like, it's kind of the, that's the thing. That's how you, you know, you deal with it.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Certain things are funny at certain times. But this like whole, there's just people that actually. too cool for school and they're all serious. Like, it's, it's really not that serious. And I think that the more we champion our real personalities, the more room we have to really just, like, meet the people that we love and meet the people who we resonate with. And there's people I know and people I've met that don't have, don't share my same sense
Starting point is 00:15:50 of humor. And our relationship is different. And that's completely fine. And I'm not like, oh, you know, I wouldn't talk to them. No, dude. It's like totally on some cool stuff. Like, we're chilling. I just like, you don't get that side of me and that's fine.
Starting point is 00:16:04 But there are also people who they see the humor side in me. They see my worth and they see my seriousness that's intertwined with my humor. And they're like, ah, yeah, like that's, that's troll. That's funny. But there's just a distinct memory I have in high school where, yeah, I was a class class, clown and I was like always trolling and I remember being like I want to be taken seriously like I want somebody to like me and if I if it takes being overly serious I will do it and that was so dumb and immature because it's like one like you know when you get like really upset and you're like I'm
Starting point is 00:16:47 gonna run away from home or like oh like I'm gonna show my parents they said this okay I'm gonna show and it lasts a day and then the next day you wake up and you forget that it ever happened I don't know if that's ever happened to y'all but that has happened like an insane insane amount to me where I'll get mad at somebody and I'll be like, this is over, like, this is done, like this changes everything. And it's like, I forget about it the next day. Um, that has been the same thing with, uh, with like, I don't know, I'm gonna be serious. Like, I'm not gonna, I'm gonna be super like nonchalant. And then I can't help but crack a brain rot joke the next minute and it's over. Be comfortable with your humor. Be comfortable with who you are. Not everybody is going to get it. That is not their job and it is okay. It is fine. Some relationships, you will be able to make people laugh. Others, you won't. Now, if you have a partner and you can make them laugh, I think that's a good sign. But like, don't put on a front because real, real people can sniff that out. I know when someone is I know when somebody has consumed a little too much red pill content as soon as
Starting point is 00:18:05 as they start, dude, it's cool. We're at H.E.B. You don't need to be maugging at H.E.B. I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Your crush hasn't noticed that you have been mewing. She hasn't. She has not noticed that. And I'm saying this as a reflection of me
Starting point is 00:18:32 because there was an insecure Zirky in high school who looked towards this advice as gospel because that was what made what empowered me and made me feel like okay they get it but i'm sorry not everybody but there were people in that space where people give advice to men that are exploiting men young men they are exploiting their beliefs and they're exploiting the fact that we're impressionable and we we we feel things and that we you know we're insecure and it's like that's and that's fine Like, that's fine. And I just wish that I could, like, talk to myself from back then and be like, bro, like, chill, calm.
Starting point is 00:19:18 It's cool. Like, you can know you being this mysterious figure. Like, no one notices. Okay, I'm sorry. Like, nobody really. I have a lot of feelings in that realm. I just, I really feel for some of y'all right now who maybe you guys are really insecure. maybe this has been a part of you realizing certain patterns in your life and certain things.
Starting point is 00:20:43 And I'm really happy that I can help with that. I know it's, it takes a lot of time and it takes a lot of thinking to really figure out who you are. And it takes a lot of pondering to figure out like what is genuine about me. Because that's something I've always, I've always thought about. I've always thought about that. And it is something that subconsciously always irked me. I would be like, why am I acting this way? Is this because I genuinely want to act this way?
Starting point is 00:21:10 Or is this because I saw it in some kind of YouTube video. I saw it in some kind of podcast. I heard it. I don't even know that this is not even me. So just know that there are people out there that will accept you for you. And there are people out there that will accept you for you, but they just won't get certain parts of you. And that's fine.
