Starting point is 00:00:00 This spring, denim gets a softer, lighter update. Introducing Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg, a new fit that moves with you. It's everything you want denim to feel like for summer. Easy, breathable, and effortlessly cool. With a fit that creates natural movement and a wide leg that feels modern, not overwhelming. Plus, that signature, wait, for this price, moment. Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg. Are you one of those media strategy people clicking through slides, scrolling
Starting point is 00:00:30 spreadsheets. Yes? Good. This is for you. Because on Spotify, there's an audience that's different. Locked in. Loyal, invested. They're called fans. Fans don't just listen to music. They feel seen by it, like it belongs to them. So when your brand shows up on Spotify, that's who you're talking to. And you're right next to artists like me, Lizzo. So, are you ready to talk to fans? Spotify advertising. You're among fans. I stress myself out a lot about the world ending and not figuring out a way to survive, which is such a terribly toxic, masculine, like, take accountability for the fact that the world's ending kind of vibe. And it's so stupid. Dude, if a nuke dropped over there, and we saw, you know, a mushroom cloud,
Starting point is 00:01:17 I would peel. Everything about me would just disintegrate into a meat paste. And yet I'm like, wait a minute, what generator should I buy? Should I invest in seeds? Should I invest in gold and silver? It's so funny how accountability and ownership and like, you know, eating healthy, working out, grinding, all these things have kind of been hijacked into this weird selling point towards people. And right now, especially, maybe this is just my algorithm, I like hearing about what's going on. I'm very interested in geopolitics. I'm really interested in like minerals and how they affect the economy and the fact that, like, you know, people don't have jobs, and yet the stock market, it's the best it's ever been.
Starting point is 00:02:05 That's like my nerdy kind of side. But it's, it is like so shocking to me that I become, these advertisements about the apocalypse and the world ending really affect my nervous system and really make me feel like I need to start being a prepper because the inevitable doom is coming. And I'm going to go on a limb to say, I actually think it's not. And maybe this is going to be the video that in my entire career, I am going to regret the most, and I'm going to say sorry in advance if that's the case. But something tells me that even if there was a crisis, there was something, I don't think it's going to be the end.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Reason being, we're into deep. As humanity, as people, I think we are into deep. And the idea of something completely engulfing us kind of seems like far-fetched, at least in my mind. And it's funny because I've been thinking about this a lot. I've been thinking about this a lot. And it's become like debilitating to my day-to-day life. When you think about all of the different injustices happening all at the same time, it just, it drives you crazy. It drives you crazy. And I saw a very interesting, honestly, I think it was like an excerpt from a Prince interview from years ago where he was talking about the television in that we as a nervous system like our nervous
Starting point is 00:03:40 systems as humans are not meant to consume the amount of information that we consume on a day-to-day basis. It's just not how we've been wired or programmed. And I completely agree with that. And it's funny because how do you like find this line between staying up to date, staying in the now, knowing when something bad is happening in the world and talking like this, like a cartoon character, and then also like living your own life because you start to feel guilty for existing.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Like you start to feel guilty for the fact that you can go to the park because there are people that are in civil war. You start to feel guilty that, you know, you want to go and play Minecraft because you should spend all of your time finding a reverse osmosis water filter system. You start to feel guilty for like enjoying food with your friends because it has a seed oils. All of this information, which I guess is in good, it has a good use, has just, it's just beating me down, man. And I actually think that even if this information is good, it's not good for me. It's not good for me. It's not good for your psyche to always be bombarded
Starting point is 00:04:59 with this idea of this could happen. This is going to, you know, destroy the world. People used to complain about news, right? And like websites, like news websites, articles being written for headlines, for clicks. It's the same thing with all of this fear-mongering. There is a portion of it that wants you to be invested and wants you to know about things and wants you to know about like the dismantling of, I don't know, parts of the park ranger system or parts of our national parks being sold off, right? Like there is a very valid reason to pay attention to things,
Starting point is 00:05:42 but paying attention and letting your life be consumed by rage and information and, like, destruction, it makes you become complicit in an odd way. Because it towers over you, and it makes. you feel like no matter what kind of action you will do in your own personal life, it's cooked. The reality of it is cooked and you should give up. And this sentiment has been has dominoed into every possible facet of the human existence. Everything you can think of. The biggest one is dating.
Starting point is 00:06:21 How many people you know have just given up on dating? Because all men are trash, all women are trash, you know, all, all a partner does. is take money from you and suck you dry, not in the way you'd like. And so it's like, sorry, that was, okay, that was really bad. I'm sorry. Next. It's not good. It's not a good joke. Like, people just give up. They just give up.
Starting point is 00:06:52 And it's funny because even when they do give up, they don't actually give up. A lot of those same people go on these like binges of being on a hinge, being on a bumble, being on a dating app, dating a bunch of people, finding a situation ship. And then, of course, they don't fix anything about themselves. They don't put any kind of effort into realizing, wait a minute, I'm doing the same thing over and over again. And I'm not actually looking for a compatible partner. And then they go right back to the other extreme of being like, this is terrible. I would never want to date anyone in my life because all that people, you know, all people do is hurt me. It's a lack of accountability.
Starting point is 00:07:30 And I am experiencing the same thing with consuming a bunch of information, consuming a bunch of stuff about like, oh my gosh, you need to save yourself. You need to save yourself. And I'm like, oh, my goodness. Yeah, I do need to get a generator. Oh, my goodness. I do need to make sure that I'm not going to get, you know, destroyed by a nuclear blast or whatever ridiculous stuff I see on my feed. and then I go over to the other side where I'm like, bro, life is good. The grass is green.
Starting point is 00:07:58 We're fine. I can't consume any of this media. And I think I know what the issue is. Hey, y'all's Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair. Ever order furniture online and wonder what if? Like, what if it doesn't hold up? That sofa was four days old. You should have ordered from Wayfair.
Starting point is 00:08:15 With Wayfair, there's no what if. Just style you love and quality you can trust. Visit Wayfair.ca. every home. The world has lost balance. There's no balance in the world anymore. There are only extremes. Everything is polarized.
Starting point is 00:08:31 We've heard this in the political sphere for a while. Oh, it's two polar opposite sides. Everything is polarized now. Think of something. Let's talk about working out, right? You have two polar opposites. You have either people who believe that their way of working out is an entire identity, high rocks, I only do high rocks, I only do Pilates, I only run, right? It's polarized
Starting point is 00:08:57 within working out itself, or you're on SARMs and you're a weightlifting Sam Sulick, a goat, right? Like, right? There's no balance in that. And the other side is that, no, I don't work out at all because it's toxic. I don't work out because it's like, I'm going to sit on my computer, whatever, I'm not going to choose to do it. There's too many sweats, right? I stop trying. There's too sweats. What? When in reality, the best thing for you is probably in the middle. It's probably not to go and do a bunch of peptides that haven't been tested, you know, on the market. And it's probably not to just sit idle at home waiting for your, you know, wheat and Minecraft to grow. That's not, there's a, there can be a balance between that stuff. And in the same vein,
Starting point is 00:09:45 like, you can probably be prepared for some disruptions, right? Like, We kind of learned with the past events in history that, you know, the food supply distribution chain or what is it called supply chain, it's fragile at times. So it's good to kind of stock up on some things, have some things, grow some stuff for yourself. Not even from like, oh my goodness, you know, the world's cooked, the world's ending, but just on some like, it's good to cook your own stuff so you understand how things grow. and you understand the amount of patience and the amount of consistency it takes to like grow green onions or it takes to just like grow i don't know anything but instead it becomes this insane pendulum swing of extremes and it almost feels like you can't exist in a balanced world anymore because everything is like one or the other and i think it's reflected in the people that we've chosen to be you know
Starting point is 00:10:44 well, we've chosen, right? People at large have chosen to be our leaders. We'll take accountability for it. Or just like the types of personalities, the types of human beings that you see are like winning, right? And on social media, in general, a lot of them are super volatile. They're super all or nothing.
Starting point is 00:11:09 They're super one way or the highway. You see it in communities like looks maxing. Okay, a lot of people that just go deeply into the only thing that matters about life is looks. And then the counter opposite is, no, looks don't matter at all. When in reality, the truth, it lies in the gray. It lies in the middle. And a lot of it is nuanced. And it's circumstantial because your looks, even if you are, you know, a 10 Chad that's mewing.
Starting point is 00:11:41 and you know, you got the right proportions, you got the right eye surgery or whatever, you might not be somebody's type. And your entire philosophy on why you look good and why your looks are a tend to, you know, everybody on the scale, it's not, it just doesn't work. Or your personality can be devoid of anything and you are not able to keep a relationship. You're not able to keep anything. Balance has been lost. And, dude, it scares me.
Starting point is 00:12:13 scares me. I'm, I'm so susceptible to all or nothing thinking. I've always been. And it's funny because it's destroyed friendships. It's destroyed relationships I've had with people. It's thrown wrenches into like being able to be a good boyfriend because I'm like, either you're entirely for me or you're not, you know? And that's not a healthy way of thinking. It's not a healthy way of thinking. So when can I get my, you know, little clock talking about when the world's going to end, right? Like a little timer. At least I'd know when I could play my last, my last Fortnite game or my last, you know, Minecraft world. Oh, Lord. Another thing is this whole idea, and I think it's a misconception, that history was always stable.
Starting point is 00:13:12 and that it was always understood that there was a predictive path. I think it's dangerously wrong. And this is where we get into people calling the past great, right, and trying to make it great again. There has, in my opinion, never been a time in human history that was a give me that, a given. That was completely understood. This is what's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:13:44 you know exactly who's going to call you, what time, you know what school to go to, for what, you know who to meet. You know, it's funny. I'm sure during 2020, you remember this saying if you ever got on a phone call or, you know, anyone who addressed anything. I think everyone had the same PR team. Everyone would talk about these unprecedented times. The times have always been unprecedented.
Starting point is 00:14:11 They will, human history is always. going to be unprecedented. We are doing this for the first time that I know of. Who knows? Maybe the, you know, the aliens are actually us in the future coming back and maybe he can give me some tips on the Zirky show or something. But we are all doing this for the first time, which means we are going to have to go through patterns of human history again and again and again until we iron it out. And unfortunately, sometimes we're caught in the cross. wins of that. And I think like right now it's a prime example. We went through a technological revolution with computers. We did. We were a little bit young to kind of see that, but people did.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Man, it was, it changed the entirety of the world. When you think of how we interact with our phones and how we send mail, you know, emails and all of that, like that didn't exist. To get information, there was no Wikipedia, you physically had to go somewhere, ask someone. to find a specific piece of information, there was an exchange. All of that has changed. Woo! Bars! All of that has changed.
Starting point is 00:15:25 And it's going to change more. And if there's one thing that is constant in our life, it's change. It's change. Everything. Imagine what you thought the world was going to look like in, like, 2016, in summer of 16. You probably had this rosy idea of college. And, like, you probably remember, like, all those, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:44 high school senior uh sing video lip sync videos where they were lip sync and you're like oh my god life is going to be awesome like i'm a freshman it's going to be dope and then the world shuts down for two years and then you're like okay well that all of that is gone and now i have to go to community college and now i have to work a job that i hate and i have to save up money because we don't have any uh how am i going to make all this work you've already lived through it and it's going to continue and the way that you do not fall susceptible to, in my opinion, the theft, the blind theft of your attention,
Starting point is 00:16:25 your life source of being able to walk around, do things, interact with people, listen to people, feel like you are a part of something, is by understanding that all of the current events, all of the things that are going on, they're happening, but it does not mean that they're They need to impact your emotions and your mood. If they do, that's fine, but you also need to understand, okay, I see what's going on, but I also got to protect myself in my community. I also have to, like, keep an eye out for Salina. I got to understand, like, what, you know, how could this affect me?
Starting point is 00:17:00 What can I do to help? But sitting down and being bogged by it, it's not effective. Balance. In a world that is so black and white, in a world that's, you know, that's not, it's not effective. that is trying to convince you that you are either the solution or the problem, be both, be both. Understand that both are true. It's always that way.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Everything is nuanced. Everything is nuanced. And maybe I need to make this as a reminder to myself because I do really find myself in these pits of like, dude, why should I do anything if nothing matters? if all of this is leading towards just the end of civilization, if all of this is leading to the end of, you know, any of my actions mattering, I'm giving up.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I'm giving up. And I think that the most valuable currency going forward, it's not going to be your attention. It's not going to be your imagination. It's going to be your hope. Because if you have hope and you, believe that you can make something, you can do a change, then you will stimulate your imagination to create ideas and create a vision for what it is you want to bring to the world. And that is
Starting point is 00:18:22 being beaten out. That is like the root of the beautiful human spirit and it is being actively pesticided so that we believe that hope is just cope. Right? Change the first letter. and it has a whole new meaning. It's dangerous. It's very dangerous. And that's because we live in an all or nothing time, right? Either something is fire or it's mid. Either it's cope or it's hope.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Either it's, you know, bro, why can't it be both? Why can't it be both? Why can't you cope with something by bringing a little bit of hope into it? Because hope can actually bring some change so that you don't cope about it. And it's just corny, bro. It's corny to just be like, whatever. It's just like, I'm not going to do anything. I'm not going to change anything.
Starting point is 00:19:19 When in reality, think of how many of your ideas, how many of your thoughts, how many of your perceptions of the world. For example, someone's video or someone's movie or someone's music has made you change, has made you feel. Think about this show, how that has impacted you. I mean, that can spread. And we're seeing it. We're blinded to it because it's probably a smaller amount than all the the malarkey, the bull crap that we see. But it does exist.
Starting point is 00:20:00 It's like you got to be, you know, keep it a buck. It does exist, right? But yeah, dude, it's just like, it's just panamonium. And like, let's laugh at it for a second. I kind of worry about buying a generator. Are you crazy? And growing my own garden. I didn't sign up for any of this.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Dude, I signed up to have like a, you know, a, what is it? Like a Frutiger Arrow clock and the cool little, like, oh my God, I always wanted that soap with the little fish on it. I always thought that was so cool. That's what I signed up for. I didn't sign up to worry about, like, okay, do I live near, 50 miles within a blast radius and how I can protect myself. There's some dog zooming, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:50 They're kind of off screen. I wonder if they're going to come in. Oh, oh, dang, he's going wrong. Okay, it's not coming up. But it's just so, so ridiculous. And I'm not laughing at it because, who knows, like maybe there is an EMP and the grid goes down and maybe all of this is something that I'm going to bite my own words for.
Starting point is 00:21:11 but I also can be honest and say that people have been What's up bro? How are you doing? How are you? Okay. It's a huge slug. People have been saying that this world is going to implode for a long time, a long, long time. There's been prophecies about it for years and we're still here. And we're still looking to buy a slop bowl. And dogs still exist, right?
Starting point is 00:21:42 So I guess the, best thing that I can tell you is keep learning, stay balanced, don't let this stuff consume you because it will. It's consumed me the past couple of months of my life. And I literally have kind of had to shed it and be like, I'm not going to make any changes or impact the world and push the world the way I want it to go. If I continue to believe this and have this kind of mindset that it's all cooked, it's only going to make me more, depressed and like there's already so many reasons to be upset and sad I think it's better that we know what's going on and we know how these things are impacting us how you feel impacted on a day to day
Starting point is 00:22:30 whether it's you know financially whether it's emotionally whether it's spiritually bro keep a balance keep a balance keep a balance perspective keep balance in your relationships in how you treat yourself how you treat others because that's something you can control And in times where there is, it feels increasingly like there are less and less things that we can control. It is good to be a good person. And it is good to stay balanced. And maybe this is all cope and don't listen to me. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Today's episode of The Zerkeye show was filmed in beautiful Mueller Park here in Austin, Texas. It's nice to be finally outside again. I had to take a little bit of a break, mainly because I just, I got out of it, guys. It happens. When you're consistent with something, there are moments where you will just stumble out of it. And you sometimes need to kind of recoup a little bit, you know, and get back into it. And that's what I had to do. So I hope you forgive me for the lack of communication.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I promise I'm not a deadbeat dad. I'm here for you. We're back. Did you know that the Zirky Show is everywhere you go? That is correct. You can watch it. You can scroll. You can stream it.
Starting point is 00:23:43 It's the Zirky Show everywhere you go. That's where you find the show and the community behind it. I am nothing without you guys. Thank you so much for everything you have given me. I'm really grateful. Do the things that bring you joy. Smile a little bit, man. There's a lot to smile for. Even in between like the stress, it's good to crack a little smile and get some endorphins going. If you're trying something new, just know that I believe in you. And as always, Zerky Show, I'm sending you lots of love and peace. Got him.
