Starting point is 00:00:00 you would be surprised what you could do. If you acknowledged that dream that you have, if you acknowledged that passion that you have, if you acknowledged that there is a chance you could do it. It felt like forever when I was an 11-year-old, getting out of school for summer break, just thinking about how much Minecraft I was going to play, unlimited amounts.
Starting point is 00:00:22 It felt like forever when I was a freshman in high school, thinking about when was I going to play for varsity soccer? It felt like forever when I was 19 going into college and thinking, man, where am I going to live after I graduate? I'm going to be 23. I'm not going to worry about that right now. I'm 23. And I want to tell you something. I want to tell you something because I've already lived it. It won't last forever. It won't. It won't. And some of you are already realizing this. Some of you in high school are starting to realize that time flies a lot faster. And it seems kind of crazy because when you're young, it's like you have endless time. A month feels like a year in adult life when you're a kid. It does because you don't have responsibilities because a lot of the things that you're worried about are dependent on other people.
Starting point is 00:01:23 And you just have more plastic mind. You can morph it into whatever you want. But the truth is it doesn't, it won't last for it. It won't last forever and it's going to fly by. And if you don't want to take it from me because I'm 23 and I'm some, you know, young buck, you can take it from my grandparents who are both 70 years old, 70 plus. And I asked them one day on the couch, I was just like, yo, gramps, yo, grandma, does it really go by that fast?
Starting point is 00:02:02 and both of them were like, you have no idea. And you have no idea either. You can't really conceptualize it. It's one of those things that just happens, like this windstorm in Austin, Texas, and it is also blistering cold in Austin, Texas. What is going on? But if you're worried about time running out
Starting point is 00:02:28 in whatever phase of life you're in, you're like, man, I'm in college, and I feel as if time is going by so quick, spoiler alert, it is, it is. It is going by very quickly. It is. You're not crazy for thinking that. The one thing that a lot of successful people,
Starting point is 00:02:51 when they're older, wish they could have is time. It is the most valuable asset. It is because you do not get it back. There is no refund. There is no chase method. for time. You cannot just get it for free. No. You have to spend it for whatever we want. We have to spend it if we want to get a job. We have to spend it if we want to have good friends and good relationships with our family and our loved ones. But in a similar vein to it not lasting forever,
Starting point is 00:03:29 there will be periods of our life that we wish would not last forever. Maybe some of us are in that period right now where things suck. Everything is mid. You don't want to get out of bed because it sucks. And that's okay. Contrary to popular belief, not every day needs to be happy. Happy, happy, happy. No, some days will suck.
Starting point is 00:04:09 That is the human experience. Some days will be a whole lot of mid And what you will have to do in those days Is get through it Rosen lasagna, medium power 15 minutes Sounds like Ojo time Let's play
Starting point is 00:04:25 Feel the fun with Playojo The online casino with all the latest slot And live casino games What you win is yours to keep With no wagering requirements Instant payouts and no minimum withdraws Hey! I just won! Woohoo!
Starting point is 00:04:38 Feel the fun! Play Ojo Honey, forget about the lasagna. Let's celebrate. 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concern about your gambling or that of someone close to you. Call 16-531-2600 or visit connexonterio.ca. And that is okay.
Starting point is 00:04:52 You know why? Because it won't last forever. This blistering cold and wind will not last forever. It is here temporarily. It is visiting me. And I appreciate it. It is a change from the beautiful weather we have had in Austin, Texas. It's just kind of chilly.
Starting point is 00:05:14 But it won't last forever. If you feel like, man, why is everything so bad? It won't last forever, dude. Yeah, it sucks right now, but it will not be here forever. It will pass. And that's kind of the same thing for the good times. When we're up, when we are generationally up, it won't last forever.
Starting point is 00:05:49 You got to be conscious of this. have to enjoy the good times while they are here. Don't worry about it going wrong. Don't worry about, well, it won't last forever or so. No, no, no, no, no, no. You enjoy it. You enjoy it. Every minute you get, you enjoy it, dude. Every minute you get, you enjoy it. And that looks different for everybody. It does. Maybe enjoying it for you means laying on the couch and watching a movie with the family. Maybe enjoying it for you means going on a hike somewhere beautiful. Maybe enjoying it for you means writing in a journal. Maybe enjoying it for you is playing a new video game that you downloaded on Steam. I don't know what it is. You know what it is. But just know that this
Starting point is 00:06:41 moment in time, it won't last forever. And we often act like it will. We often act like it will be here forever and that oh we have unlimited time and we don't have to think about finances and we don't have to think about our debt and our loans you got to think about it you do you do these are all things you have to put into consideration because listen i mean it won't last forever if you pay it off facts you have to pay it off man oh man a lot of people are in debt man that is scary y'all are okay out there anyways i was really concerned about this because you know i i am totally someone who has struggled with comparing myself to other people and when i see that i'm 23 and there's people who are like 19 with a buchotay with a buchotie in duboy it makes you kind of be like
Starting point is 00:07:43 man this this sucks for me i'm like so mid right now but like one comparison is terrible like it's kind of one of those things that we do as a generation just because we live on this a lot and and you know that's it's a flex off everyone is flexing like you know i just got a property in egypt and this is what they do for you they give you the property i don't have a property in egypt damn it but it's like who cares like that's i don't you know who cares about that what i care about now is I know it, like, it won't last forever. So let me use the time very wisely. Which I don't do.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Which I still don't do. I still find ways to find myself, you know, watching brain rot, chopped chin edits. Because they're funny and I find them very funny, you know. But at the same time, you know, I think it's important that we're conscious of how we spend our time. I think it's very, very important and that we also know that you've got to capitalize on a moment when you have it.
Starting point is 00:09:01 There's so many people that I know that just squandered a chance to do something great because they refused to take it seriously. They thought it was going to last forever. I'm sure you have friends, maybe some of you that are like, I want to go to the league,
Starting point is 00:09:16 I want to play professional soccer, I want to play professional football, and they just don't take it seriously. They don't. and they're, you know, in college or like post-college still trying to train. And I don't think you should give up on your dreams if you know this is it. But at times, like, the moment that they had to make the developments they wanted to and the moment that they had is over.
Starting point is 00:09:38 It's done. And I think for a lot of us, like, in our young years, and young is like, bro, it's like from 16 to late 30s, we have to, we have to, we have to, use it the way that we want to because it won't last forever it won't it won't you know we have unlimited energy i've talked to people who are older i talk to a lot of old heads man and they don't have the same energy it's not like they can wake up and you know drink five energy drinks and they're ready no it's no it's done that's done so if you have the energy you should think twice about squandering it in the wrong places.
Starting point is 00:10:29 The Volkswagen Atlas is a 7-seat powerhouse that actually makes sense for real life. It's got cargo space for all your gear, the dogs, and even half of your rec league soccer team. And under the hood, a 2-liter turbocharged TSI engine that hauls up to 5,000 pounds. The 7-seat Atlas. You deserve more space.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Visit bw.ca to learn more. S-U-B-W, German-engineered for all. Because that energy will not come back. If you have the ability right now to travel, if you have the ability to go and meet people and find experiences, and maybe you have a calling right now, like, man, I want to become a really good doctor. I want to become a really good content creator.
Starting point is 00:11:14 I want to become somebody who lives in their van and travels the world. It's now. It's now because it won't last forever. It won't. And if you keep delaying this, it's gone. It's done. It will be done. It won't last forever. It's part of the reason I work so hard. And I have problems with the way I work. I think that I'm so unorganized and that I, you know, fall short a lot of the time. And that's just my negative self-talk burrowing me into a hole and being like, oh, feel bad for yourself. When in reality, I get it done. Why? Because it won't last forever. It won't. So like, if I don't do it, no one's going to do it. And if I don't give it a shot, nobody will take a shot for me. There are a lot of people right now that are very dissatisfied as to where they are at.
Starting point is 00:12:11 The first thing I got to ask you is, is that dissatisfaction coming from a place of authenticity? Are you really upset because you are upset with yourself? Or are you upset because there's a. metric that somebody has put on you of what you're supposed to look like, what you're supposed to do, and you do not follow that metric because we are all different. And there is no base, there's no, you should be. There is not, no, it is what you should be doing. Not what the average 23 year old Gen Z should be doing.
Starting point is 00:12:47 It is what you should be doing. And sometimes what you should be doing goes against the grain of what people will tell you you should be doing. If you have a talent, if you have a passion that you can see you care about something way more than other people and you feel like I could make a living out of this or I could do something with this, maybe not make a living, but I could improve my life and feel like my life has a purpose and you aren't doing that on the daily. Even in a small amount, even in like a couple minutes, it won't last forever. It won't last forever It will come and go It will come and go
Starting point is 00:13:35 And I think that we forget this We do We think that we can forever Have a chance to chase our dreams And in certain regards, yes But bro, like we're young We are so young Tonight
Starting point is 00:13:55 We are young. So do something about it, man. You have aspirations. You have a goal. You have something that you want to do. Even if you are in the roughest period of your life. Which for a lot of us in our 20s, that's what it is. I'm not even going to, like, people are going to be like, oh, you're being an angsty 20-year-old.
Starting point is 00:14:26 No, 20-20s. You're 20s in the 2020s. are crazy. There's so much uncertainty. There's so much economic pressure. And there are so many things that are out of your control. So the things that you can control are the things you spend your energy on. In this day and age where times are tough and things are expensive,
Starting point is 00:14:50 we still have the most valuable asset, which is our time. And you would be surprised what you could do. If you acknowledged that dream that you have, if you acknowledged that passion that you have, if you acknowledged that there is a chance you could do it. Because the window for you to do that, it won't last forever. It won't. So it is on you. This episode is brought to you by Tell Us Online Security.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Oh, tax season is the worst. You mean hack season? Sorry, what? Yeah, cybercriminals love tax forms. But I've got Telas online security. It helps protect against identity theft and financial fraud so I can stress less during tax season or any season. Plan started just $12 a month.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Learn more at tellus.com slash online security. No one can prevent all cybercrime or identity theft. Conditions apply. It is on you. Maybe that means going back to college. Maybe that means getting a trade. Maybe that means building out of business. Maybe that means being the best social worker that you can be and really committing.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Because what is the other option is that you just, you let the time go, and then you're old and bitter, and then you're regretful, and you're in a position where you can't support yourself, you're in a position that, you know, you have to do something you don't really, really like. and I'm not saying, oh, you should follow what you love. Listen, we need to survive. It's like right now a lot of us are focused on surviving, and that is hard. I don't want to diminish that at all, but if you do focus on something that you genuinely are like, I could do this, I could be good at this, and I could find things to like about this, man,
Starting point is 00:17:04 why not? The other option is you do something that will slowly chip away at you. At first, maybe the money will be good. Maybe the accolades will be good. Maybe you'll get respect from your peers. But slowly after all of that fades, it's you and what you do. And if it's destructive, it's going to grind to the core of you. And then you are going to be not young, wondering, why did I do this?
Starting point is 00:17:34 Like so many people in our world do. I genuinely believe we can change that. We can. Is it easy? No. It's not easy. But if we acknowledge that it won't last forever, the good and the bad, we can make a step forward to what we want to do and how we actually want to spend this time. Because it is a beautiful thing. It doesn't last forever. Because if it could last forever, why would we do anything? Neil deGrasse Tyson famously said, if you can live forever, why would you even get out of bed in the morning when you always have tomorrow. And in today's day and age, we have tomorrow's Zerky Show, but tomorrow won't last forever. Zerky Show! I love you so much on this cold, windy day. I have a lot of love to give. Do the things that bring you the most joy. I love you, I believe in you, and thank you so much for being a part of the
Starting point is 00:18:43 Zirky Show and genuinely changing my life. I hope I could do the same for you. Zirky Show. Love and peace.
