Starting point is 00:00:00 Cassia, we love you. Incredible historic performance on a beautiful mountain that gave us all the chills, brought tears to our eyes, boomstick for just going with it and sticking it out, and we are so proud of you. So boomstick, Cassia. I mean, as the storyline goes, right? She's won the tour two years ago. But then never want to say, I mean, what is stage to wait for to get for your first stage one
Starting point is 00:00:23 and to do it in such fashion? I mean, not just winning this iconic stage, but also taking the job. Jersey at the same time. And it's, you can't write a better story. All right. All right. Welcome back to the Move podcast. I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Wow. Wow. Shocking. Beautiful. I mean, there's a lot of superlatives we're going to talk about today. But that was, that was a hell of a bike race to watch. Of course, I'm joined by Mari and Ali. And virtually joined by Mel Hinkapie.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Mel, what did we do her on stage seven? Stage seven from La Volt Surone to Monventu. That's right. You heard it right. The Montvantu. It just looks so as you're just watching this mountain. Of course, the helicopter shots, just make it so dynamic. Like you, it's a special place.
Starting point is 00:01:24 If you haven't been up there, it was so amazing to hear Cassia talking about the amount of times that she had gone and previewed this stage. and just sort of taking it all in. I mean, this is unlike any climb in France. It looks like a very, very different climb. It rides like a very different climb. It's just, it is mystical. And she had another cute story. She saw her parents.
Starting point is 00:01:48 I guess her parents surprised her, didn't tell her that they were going to come to the state. She saw them right before she attacked and got emotional. This is a woman. She wanted to make them proud. Amazing. Guess what? She made all of us proud. Mission of us.
Starting point is 00:02:01 This is a woman who has won the tour to France fan of X-Swift, but has never won a stage. I mean, let's just wait for this one. Now in yellow. This, I mean, it was, it was, I alluded to this yesterday, just watching her in the race. I thought, you know what, don't count her out. She's won the race before. She looks comfortable. She can climb.
Starting point is 00:02:24 She was saving energy. I mean, it was just, even despite alluding to it, I didn't see this coming. I didn't either No I mean I was thinking maybe she wins you know out of out of three of them at the finish like a like you know sprinting at the top in that last bit where Demi had attacked but yeah that was really impressive with 9K to go to attack yeah I mean I think when you when you think about it and Allison was was was completely for clempt I mean very reclimped and when we were watching the race just how many times either this. The men's or the women's peloton has gone over the vauntu. There's some debate, and especially for Allison. I know.
Starting point is 00:03:07 But when you think about all the performances here, and obviously this mountain holds a lot of lore, it costs Tommy Simpson his life many, many years ago, decades ago. It has been the battleground of so many great bike races. I'm not sure that we've seen one in any peloton like we saw today. That was like, hey, 9K to go, completely rode away from two amazing riders, Dr. Royser and Demi Vollering. I put it up there with the greats. It was an incredible finish. What about Demi's? Like, you were talking about this.
Starting point is 00:03:45 She put in how much time, though, in that last attack to get second on this stage. But you calculated math, math. You did the math. 31 seconds, you think? I think it was roughly half a minute. At least, yeah. Yeah. And you could, you don't need a stopwatch to see that.
Starting point is 00:04:04 You could see, too, that at the end, and this is exactly what I said as we're watching, I said, you should not, in my opinion, you should not be going that hard at the end of Vontu. Vantu, you have to leave, you have to, you know, leave a little bit in the tank, but you have to leave most of it down lower on the climb. She was flying at the end. She was going fast. You know, the one question I have is maybe it looked on TV, like maybe she hit a patch in the middle there during the steep section where she wasn't feeling as good. And maybe she recovered from it.
Starting point is 00:04:37 And when she was already with, you know, Marlon and like probably deciding what to do, how to get away from her. But yeah, it was way too much energy to have at the finish to close it down like that and looking as strong as she did. Look, and I think Marlon Rosa rode the perfect race. I mean, that's, to me, she has, she doesn't have one speed, but she doesn't have many speeds. And she wrote the perfect race. She rode within herself. You saw her. She was never out of the saddle.
Starting point is 00:05:05 She just stayed steady. She stayed in that diesel mode. She rode the race. She had to ride. There was some conversation and curiosity around whether or not she was getting the fueling. It could also be an issue with Demi. Sometimes we know this, right? You get into a race.
Starting point is 00:05:19 You have bad patches, right? And it's a bad five kilometer patch. in the middle of Monphon 2. That's really shitty timing. But if you can come good at the end, then you saw what we saw. But it's still a bike race. I mean, there was so much drama today. I said to y'all when she went and she had about a minute 10,
Starting point is 00:05:39 I got it and went to the bathroom. I said she's going to win by two minutes. Now, she was well on our way to doing that, but Demi still had this extra kick at the end, which is kind of crazy. And she didn't win by two minutes. All that adds up to being. We got us a hell of a bike race heading into the fun. I mean, this is crazy.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Yeah. Anyway, 39 seconds between the top three. This is anybody's bike race. Anybody's bike race. And you know, I love, Lance, is that I think I love a lot of things. Well,
Starting point is 00:06:06 I love a lot of things. But I do appreciate how much you love this mountain. Yeah. Like, you look at this like a holy grail, like the giant of Provence here, which we were talking about why it's bald. You know,
Starting point is 00:06:19 it's not above the tree line like people think. I always thought it was above the tree line. I would tell people, oh, it gets so hard to breathe up there. It's, you know, by the way, it's only 6,000 feet. Yeah. I say only because obviously 6,000 feet is not tree line in any climate. But I forever thought that this was, we were above tree line when, in fact, that's not the situation at all. No, they logged the mountain very hard during the medieval period and, like, basically stripped it bare during, like, the Napoleonate.
Starting point is 00:06:51 era to like build ships for the French Navy. So that's why there's no trees up there. And then the wind, so Vantu, we were talking about French and since Cici is listening to us in French class, you know, vaunt the wind. So the mountains actually named after the wind because the mistral blows across the summit at over 90 kilometers per hour for roughly over 240 days a year. 55 mile an hour winds at the top. You saw the wind.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Yeah, look bad. Imagine just being the folks that like plan the vacation to France. to ride the vauntu, and they get rocked with a 55-mile-an-hour headwind at the top. It's so romantic. They're walking up Vantu. But we saw Dami go into the gutter at one point, and you really could see the wind going. She kind of got thrown into the gutter. I didn't think it was, there was some talk early on the stage about the mistrawl winds.
Starting point is 00:07:40 The mistrawl winds are the ones that will blow 50, 60, 70 miles an hour. You're very hard to stay on your bike, especially when it's exposed like that up high. But the winds, they were strong. You saw the flags. And the other thing about the winds up there is they're inconsistent. Like there would be, you know, one minute they'd show the race and you'd see the flags from the left. And then a minute later, they'd show the race and the flags would be from the right. You're like, so it does sort of gust and turn and twist up there.
Starting point is 00:08:05 But you know what? It didn't stop the little Polish dynamite. I mean, that was, she was on fire. And by the way, easy to root for. Oh, so. is so easy to root for. So adorable, so happy. You were talking about how happy she looks.
Starting point is 00:08:22 And you don't remember saying that, but you did. But doesn't, like the wind, though, in this case, wouldn't necessarily benefit the solo rider. You would think with the wind and the exposed top parts of this climb, it would have maybe benefited Marlin and Demi working together. But we just saw the gap keep opening out. I think the two of them were still playing against each other. Yeah, that's when, especially when those two were looking at each other.
Starting point is 00:08:45 and this is what I was curious about because they, going back a couple of years ago, they were on the same team. Anytime anybody's been on the same team together, you know there is a relationship. You just don't know if it's a good one, a bad one, a so-so one. So I was curious, you know, what their personal relationship was like. Because at that point in time, they have to look at each other and say, whatever the relationship was or is now, let's put it aside. this girl, Kasia, is riding away from us, riding into yellow. So we now, despite anything that's been said or done or feelings in the past, we have to find some synergy here and not let her get too far up the road.
Starting point is 00:09:33 And they did that. Well, but that was my question. When they were riding together, I thought, okay, they know each other. And they're not one of them is riding harder than the other. They're still riding on the same level. and so to see Demi just leave her like that towards the end of the race, I was surprised with how much she had in the tank because it didn't look like that when they were with her poles.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Yeah. As she was going, I mean, we're watching the clock. I was like, where was this two kilometers? If she had done that, now, look, we are not in the bike race. We are not on the bike. Thank God. Thank God. And we don't know if she did go through a bad period and just found her legs at the end.
Starting point is 00:10:14 But if not, I mean, she should have done that earlier. She, I mean, she would have gotten very close. She was going so fast. Well, and you would think that maybe in a steeper section before they got to the more gradual part in the middle, she could have, you know, put an attack into Marlin and maybe gotten on her own. And then she probably maybe would have made better time than with, you know, with Demi because the two of them were playing off each other so much. Do you have a favorite Bond 2 memory, Lance?
Starting point is 00:10:42 Oh. Whether it's 18 or 11 times that the men's two. Tour has done this. I got second on the Vantantham. I got second on the Vantu twice, right? So once was, of course, with Marco Pontani. It's, it was, that's a tough one to think back on. Obviously, he's lost his life since.
Starting point is 00:11:02 And we didn't, we did not have a good relationship. Not for any, I think, miscommunication and just sort of just not understanding each other was probably the main reason. And gifting, you know, letting him win or letting him cross the line first on that stage in 2000 was bittersweet. And it just never set well with me, never set well with, certainly didn't sit well with him. Marco Pontani was such a champ.
Starting point is 00:11:34 He doesn't want to be gifted anything. And then the second time we went up at, we Richard Rang was in an early break and we let him, that break, we let the break get too much time. He started the climb with a huge advantage, and I couldn't reel him back in. So neither of them are great memories. Yeah. But you love the climb. I love the climb.
Starting point is 00:11:54 I've been back and climbed it just as a Joe Schmoe on a bike with friends. Here's the other thing is the climb sits in the middle of Provence. It's known as the Giant of Provence. I love Provence. Like if I could just chill and live somewhere, if they kicked me out of the United States, you might find me in Provence. Or Greece. But it's just, the Provence is so special. And so to have this sort of gift pop up in the middle of it all.
Starting point is 00:12:23 And it really is an anomaly. Like there are no places. You can look around, right, from the helicopter shot. There are not, there are other climbs and other steep hills. There's nothing like this. It just sort of erupts out of the middle of Provence. And that's what makes it so special. Well, it's historic.
Starting point is 00:12:39 So today. Very. I mean, we have. She wrote a historic performance. historic performance on a historic mountain. And we've finished on this mountain before, like I was saying, in other races, whether it's the Grand Bukal or the Tour of Ardash or something like that, Ardash. But I did find, Colton, this is really cute, though, is that these women as they were
Starting point is 00:13:01 going to conquer this climb, like this is Demi's first big climb she did before. And this is Puck Peters right here. Amazing. At 10 years old. On a mountain bikes. 10 years old Puck posted this and she said that, you know, hope she can be the her time since she did this on her mountain bike at 10 years old in one hour and 58 minutes. That's puck in our puckadot, our puckadot jersey.
Starting point is 00:13:22 This is the Tom Simpson, Romero. Yeah. And then Demi, this is her first big climb, and this is before she became a professional. And she was saying that she doesn't know it yet, but she will climb to try to chase the yellow jersey. And this is exactly what she was doing today. So I do believe that younger Demi would be really proud. And also, I get the chills.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Just what an incredible iconic moment. for women cycling to finish the stage of a Tour de France Fem of X-Zyft on top of this mountain that you love so much and is such an icon. One of the things that I thought was great today was that the crowds were there. You know, I mean, we thought that there weren't going to be people up on the mountain, but it was so nice to see the crowds out there and people cheering on women's cycling. Just absolutely amazing cheering everyone on to the finish. I thought that was, I mean, it's new in women cycling to have crowds that size on the climb. And, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Yeah. Well, I was going to say, and I said this to y'all, like, this climb is so hard and so hard to control as a team. You really have to have a team that sets an early tempo, which, of course, maybe the Peloton or these got a gift from EF for writing this tempo. What was EF doing? I don't know, but they took it down to 10 riders, and then it was sort of best woman wins. But for me thinking, wow, where is this race going to be dynamic? Where is it going to explode? Like, where is this going to?
Starting point is 00:14:41 Well, you know what? It happened. Like it was 9K-1. First of all, before that, Demi went with 11 kilometers ago, couldn't get a gap. Kasia just sitting there, cool. Just like, boom, 2K later, she goes. And that's it. See you and the duches. Like, it was so, so strong.
Starting point is 00:14:58 And she's been on our show. We love Kasia. She's great. I know. My wife loves Kasia. She's always like, how's Taylor's wife doing? She does. Today's show brought to you by Pioneer Pastures.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Full disclosure. I love the product so much that I actually invested in. it. Here's the deal. I was drinking it long before I even put in a dime. So anyone who does long rides knows what you put in your gut matters. Honey Stinger has been fueling endurance athletes like yours truly over there, Lance Armstrong, for over 25 years, not to date you.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Yes, that's true. Real fuel, not candy, dressed up as sports nutrition, even though it tastes delicious. And they're right up the road from us in the boat in Seamboat Springs. But they aren't resting on their laurels, and they've just launched two incredible products, electrolyte gels, and 100 milligram caffeinated chews, which I saw Jordan, our next Ventures partner here. We both have our next Ventures hats on today. He just grabbed a bunch of those shoes and getting nervous about your ride. So anyway, all is great for your stomach three hours in.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Use the code the move 25 for 25% off at honeystinger.com slash the move 25. Boom. Still not allowed to eat those chews because Dave thinks I'm going to launch you out of space. I'm going to chill you out. All shaping up. And I got it wrong yesterday. I was talking about that final stage in Nice doing the cold as and the downhill. I'm going to keep saying this downhill of cold as at the end of nine,
Starting point is 00:17:06 day is you better keep both eyes open. I was wrong. They're not doing it three times. Even better. They're doing it four times. This is, I mean, as the, as the spectator and as the fan, this is shaping up to be perfect. Yeah. I mean, and I don't know. I mean, I think they're both in a good place. If you're like, look, all I got to do is stay with Demi. I do, I think, I think it's a two horse race at this point. I think so, too. And, and, and, and, and, but if you're, Demi, you're not far back. And you're like, look, all I got to do is get away. I mean, this is going to be fireworks. Now, of course, we got one more stage to get through before that. And you remember, though, when Cassia won the tour, it was by a four-second deficit.
Starting point is 00:17:52 It's just two years ago. Two Demi. So I think when there's some questions, why is Demi going for time bonuses? Why is she working so hard? Then you think she's lost the tour by four seconds to this woman. So she knows what every second counts. And you were saying that the Von Two doesn't care. what you think. Apparently not, but that last stage isn't going to care. It also doesn't care. But before I forget. The third and fourth time up there, the cold ass, it's not going to care either. Can I just do this before? I mean, I think this is a unanimous decision, Mari, Lance. I'm giving it to Blasie. No. Full approval. Cassia, we love you. Incredible historic performance on a beautiful
Starting point is 00:18:32 Mountain that gave us all the chills brought to yours to our eyes, boomstick for just going with it and sticking it out and we are so proud of you. So boomstick, Cassia. I mean, as the storyline goes, right? She's won the tour two or two years ago. But then never want to say what it's stage to wait for to get for your first stage one and to do it in such fashion. I mean, and I mean, not just winning this iconic stage, but also taking the jersey at the same time. And it's, you can't write a better story. It's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:19:03 I wonder if I went out and rode the Vaughn 2 as fast as I could. I mean, I bet she went and I don't ride, I don't ride a lot anymore. I want to hear this. But I can still, I can still ride a bike. Like if I just said, all right, I'm going to go as hard as I can. I think just for y'all at home trying to put all this in perspective, and again, I don't bike much and I'm an old man now, but I bet she was 10 minutes faster. 10, 1.0.
Starting point is 00:19:26 It's a lot. She was motoring. She was motoring. Well, not just Demi. I mean, not just, oh, God, not just caught you. But, like, the whole top 10 women in the race were pretty much flying up that mountain. I mean, when you look at the gaps in the top piece, it's not, I mean, it's not huge, huge, you know. I mean.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Yeah. It was beautiful. Beautiful performance women. We'll have a quick look at tomorrow stage because it's not, look, it's long, 172 kilometers. Whoa. Four categorized climbs. Of course, most of the, looks like most of the difficulties in the middle of the race. Clearly, the stage does finish.
Starting point is 00:20:04 This is what I always assumed that with the Tour de France Famovex, finishing in Nice, we'd have some sort of a Chamzalise-esque parade laps. Ain't no parade. Tomorrow is a parade. Tomorrow is a parade before. Tomorrow they finish on promenade is on promenadezong. It is a Chamis-Ais-esque boulevard right on the water. You'll see the water to the right as they come in.
Starting point is 00:20:26 you'll see these beautiful Bella Pak hotels on the left, the Negresco, things like that. Lots of history there. But this is just the final send-off before it gets real on Sunday. Not too. What does it say here? No, 1,400 meters total, vert. Well, if you look how well, like, Lorraine has been, Levis has been climbing. I mean, you know, this is a great stage for her, obviously.
Starting point is 00:20:52 But it's so long that it's, you know, you would think a break. You know, there are two category four climbs. I mean, if you look at the profile, it looks like it's, you just work up there, but it's, she's got to get to 76K. And then it really does roll downhill straight to the coast. Nothing. And this is, this is a cool street to get a stage winner. And she wants those points, you know. And it's not just a stage win, but, I mean, she wants to keep, I would think that she wants those sprint points and the.
Starting point is 00:21:19 She could be in a break. Yeah. I see Pucket in the Pucketot jersey, as plays has called it. Oh, come on. It's great. No, it's great. I see a break going, actually. And I think it's going to be a similar stage finish kind of, you know, like it's great for a Kim LaCourt.
Starting point is 00:21:36 It's great for a puck. I think, you know, people that aren't too high up in the GC that aren't a huge threat. And Webus makes that split for her securing the overall green jersey. But, I mean, for SD works, they want to get her to the finish lake. they know if she comes in there she's going to win the race most likely. So, I mean, this is their last big opportunity. They lost Fanda Bregan today.
Starting point is 00:22:02 So I think they really want to keep this for Lorena. No, I would not bet against that. Also, not a bad finish for a Kepkeke. If Lorena can't quite make it over that climb, but Lorina was climbing fine. She's an incredible. I just do not want to get in a bar fight with Lorena. That's all.
Starting point is 00:22:19 By the way, all the way to the finish lines, both Saturday and Sunday, The weather in Nice is just Chamber of Commerce weather, a little warm. Tomorrow, 88 degrees in sunny, Sunday, 91 degrees and sunny. That's going to be hot, but no rain. I bring that up because these downhills, these descends can be sketchy. Coltland, have we got some callers on the line? Hey, guys, this is Joseph calling from Denver.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Could you discuss the advantages of riding a high cadence? I noticed that Debbie Ballering was spinning a higher cadence on the climbs compared your opponents on stage five. Additionally, what gearing might the riders be using on Mount phone too? Thanks, guys. Love the show. Well, and you saw it with Gassia. I mean, her cadence was very high.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I mean, 100-ish, which is really, really high. And, I mean, I'll take a quick stab and let the ladies jump in. But, and I, Jordan, actually, you asked about Jordan or mentioned Jordan. He asked me yesterday about he's getting into cycling and the other, like a few, like a month ago. He's like, I think I'm going to get a power meter. Yes. I was like, why? Oh, I've never done a bike ride without a power meter.
Starting point is 00:23:25 I see, I'm like, I don't have, I never, I mean, I have a computer that tells me how far I went. I don't have a power meter. I don't have a heart rate monitor. But nonetheless, he asked me about cadence. And Jordan comes from a bit of a running background. I said, listen, cadence, and this is my view, cadence is personal, right? It's like watching somebody run a marathon. You'll see these guys that all, they're all running low twos.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And the guy, you know, on the left has a long stride. The guy to his right has a slightly shorter stride. You see it the same in swimming, right? The 100 meter freestyle. You see the guy jump in. He's got a big long stroke. Guy next to him's chopping it up. They're still going the same speed.
Starting point is 00:24:04 They are picking their own cadence because it's personal to them. And I do think in cycling that it's personal. And of course, I rode with a very, very high cadence. And the folks right before me, Enderine, Reese, Jan, they rode with this really low cadence, smosh in these big gears. And so to the eye, people are like, well, he's, he is trying to do this. He is training this when in fact, it never was. That was just my, my preferred cadence. But I would say that you are also kind of one of the first people to change from the gearing. The gearing got changed also. It was changing. Lower gear, um, easier gearing. And I mean,
Starting point is 00:24:42 I'm not sure what the gearing is that they're riding now because I'm not quite as in it. But I mean, they have the ability because of the, the gearing. to be able to spin a higher cadence too. Like maybe they are someone who wouldn't be mashing as much, but the gearing wouldn't allow it back then. And now you're seeing them riding the gearing that kind of lets you do that. I mean, where are they riding? Do you know?
Starting point is 00:25:03 Gearing's amazing. Probably in like a 42 and then they have a 1028, if not a 32. I have up to a 32. I mean, whether or not too, I didn't check if she was riding a one by or not because Ram makes a great one buy. Just don't weigh the bike of Lorraine or Levis if they're the UCI. But I think on,
Starting point is 00:25:20 cadence, I mean, Lance, you, I think, were one of the first people to do the higher cadence. And when you look at cadence, I do know it's very unique, like you're saying to each individual. And I'm a masher. So I always liked watching yawn race or something because I felt like I rode more like that. But when you think about a higher cadence gets more into your aerobic capacity because your legs are moving faster. So you're able to get into your lungs into your aerobic system. And when you do a lower cadence, you're doing more muscular work. So there's, there's a balance of going into that VO2 max that you were born with. And then also this like muscular system where you can do more damage because you can have
Starting point is 00:25:59 this like micro tears in your muscles as you're as you're mashing. So it's really, I think, a personal preference. I try to change to my cadence to be higher to be like Lance and it turns out. You can alternate standing, sitting, standing, sitting. I stood a lot. You did. Yeah. And people were always like, well, boys, you know, before my time, if you stood up, people sort of
Starting point is 00:26:19 thought that meant you were trying to find an extra gear or you were you were starting to suffer and so they would see me stand i mean you can go back and look at alptoes 2001 i stood over half the climb um which is but the way at my brain was working i'm like i don't really give a shit like i'm just trying to get up this thing as fast i can so whatever the gear feels best whether that's sitting whether it's standing whether it's alternating the interesting thing too but like before my generation is you would have been laughed out of the peloton if you didn't show up with a straight block yeah like There was this traditional mindset, and you would almost be like, people would, if they would have seen a 28 on your rear cassette. Of course, now they're racing in skin suits.
Starting point is 00:27:01 If you would have rolled up in the 90s when I came about with a skin suit on and a 28-tooth rear cog, people would have laughed you out of the peloton. What's it? I don't even know how we made it up in 21s or 23. Exactly. I mean, now I try and ride something like that. And it just blows my mind because I'm thinking, how do I get that like 32 on the? I love it. And by the way, having a variety like that on the back, let's just call it an 11, 28.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Now, you may never use the 28 or even a 26, whatever it is on the back. It's a big cog. Who knows what the race is doing, right? It could be lower in the climb. The climb is steep. The group isn't going fast. Nobody has attacked yet. They're kind of looking each other, sizing each other.
Starting point is 00:27:48 other up and you're going slow. Well, you want to be in the 28. Well, why be in a 21 when despite going slow, you still have to grind? Like, you can just sort of save the legs, spin the 28 and wait. It's not like Cassia Nia do, but is in the 28 at the top of the bonteau.
Starting point is 00:28:04 She wasn't. But early on the climb, is this thing shaking out? Like, just sit there and chill in a really high gear. Cures are great. Gairs are great. Gheres are your friend. Use them. Yeah. We now have them. You know, 100 years ago, they did. Kids, you think you got a rough life.
Starting point is 00:28:22 You didn't like the amount of likes you got on your TikTok. Just think 100 years ago, they had two gears. Yeah. And Puck Peters rode up on a mountain bike. I love that. All right. Caller number two. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Thank you so much for your show. It's so fun to watch. My question has to do with freewheeling behind someone. When they're coasting and I can hear their free will behind me, it pisses me off. I just want to put it. pedal harder to make them work. Talk about that. Is that a thing? Is it hate the game, not the player? Take advantage when you can. What is the etiquette to that? Thanks again for all you do. I think part of that is like, who are you? Are you the person in front who's irritated or are you the
Starting point is 00:29:01 person in back? If you're the person in back and you know that your bike is making noise, you can pedal a little bit more so that they don't hear it. And then that way you can maybe kind of manipulate them into working more because you're right. It irritates the person in the front if they think you're not working behind them. Or I pretend I'm working like you were saying you petal so they don't hear it yeah but i think um and she didn't introduce herself i know which is a bummer we don't know where she's from i would say if she is the person in front and somebody is freewheeling behind her and she doesn't like the noise and she's annoyed my advice blow snout on them no oh god just do a good old fashioned snout right that's called a farmer blow
Starting point is 00:29:38 i would say maybe you would get behind the person like switch off and then you could attack them and leave i would i would say find other things to be upset about I'm going with my snot. It's not that big a deal. I mean, that's, look, that's the reality. If you were, let's just say you were in a race and you were in a breakaway and there were just two of you. If it's one, two percent downhill, while to the eye, it really doesn't look downhill, it is downhill. And so they have to coast behind.
Starting point is 00:30:06 And so, I mean, an option is outside of just not caring is just to pull off and let them pull. And then you will be the one in the back soft bag. Well, and in a break situation, you want to make sure you're both working about the same. So it could help you know, like, how long and how much work they're doing. And then by the way, certain hubsets sound differently too. There are some that are very quiet. And there are others that are, this might be what she's talking about that are just wildly annoying. I think that's what she's talking about.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Find you friends, blows not. That's my advice. I mean, it just never fails. Dear Avaling PD She is here Right below Aspen Mountain Fitness In Aspen, Colorado 81611 Please
Starting point is 00:30:54 Come get her Come and get her Come and pick her up We have her look she's caught She's literally caught red-handed And she even confessed To the scene of the crime Right, Maury?
Starting point is 00:31:07 Yes Took her away You know Well, anyhow, I mean, you guys love me. Look, we said this at the start of this tour de France family of Beck Swift, that the cool thing about this race and the women's pelton is, it's close. And it's a race. And we don't know what's going to happen. And look, you got to give Todd A all the props.
Starting point is 00:31:30 He's the greatest of all time. But it's not always exciting until now. Like this is an actual bike race. Like Sunday. Fireworks again. You cannot predict what is going to happen. As a sports fan, it doesn't matter what sport it is. You want that to be the case.
Starting point is 00:31:48 I love it. Shaping up perfectly. Love your fan girly. It's amazing. They are delivering on a product that is exciting. Right? And so that's great for the sport. So good.
