Hey, everybody.
Welcome back to the Move podcast.
Talking about the Tour de France Femme.
Avec Zwift.
Talking about stage one.
Of course, I'm joined.
So nice to see y'all, by the way.
Good to see you.
It's a nice relief.
I get sick of all these dudes up here all the time.
You know, with their earwax and stuff like this.
That's y'all had to be here at the pre-show.
We, you know, if you haven't noticed this year, we got rid of those over the,
you know, those ear things look like, you know,
those big headphones and we got these in-ear things and Allie had a little
issue with hers and I won't name any names,
but if y'all watch the men's tour, well,
you probably know who sat over there in that seat.
It's okay. i have a highlighter good to be back with y'all uh again talking about stage one charlotta cool all right now i know you folks at home might have been like charlotte cool no
charlotta cool with a k which i think is a cool way to spell it. We'll talk about all the action and we're going to preview this super interesting
2024 Tour de France Femme of X Zwift
because it is, it's interesting.
It's an interesting route.
But before we do, we'll do a little bit of business.
What do you think, Allie?
Yeah, I mean, I'm just really excited to see you guys.
Well, thank you.
And Mari being in the middle,
being the prettiest one of the bunch,
it's good to have her there.
And she's also protecting us from each other.
But, I mean, you guys look great.
As I say, the rose between two thorns.
This is true.
We're trying to keep everyone safe.
But you did make me good coffee this morning.
So thanks, Lance, for doing your duty there.
But I do think we all look pretty good.
I mean, feeling good, looking good. So I did want to thank one of our big sponsors of the mood podcast here,
one skin, which you guys have heard. And I think all three of us definitely use it.
So, and also I'm up here in altitude lately.
So I don't know if you guys feel the dry skin that happens and like the cracking of, I don't know. Stuff. It's just, yeah. So one skin is,
has this,
uh,
OS.
Oh,
one peptide and it targets zombie cells.
And JB had explained to me what zombie cells are,
but they're like cells.
Yeah.
You don't want any of that.
No.
And they cause lines and wrinkles and you don't,
you don't have any lines and wrinkles anymore.
So I think it's from the one skin.
So it's scientifically proven to reverse skins,
biological age at the cellular level. So we're staying timeless. What do you think, Mark? I think it's from the one skin. So it's scientifically proven to reverse skin's biological age at the cellular level.
So we're staying timeless.
What do you think, Mari?
I think it's working really well.
I love this whole collection.
They have it for body, face, special eye cream.
And it's been incredible for me to use.
And Mari's always been very encouraging for me to take care of my skin.
Well, it's super important.
But one of the things that this year that I kind of fell in love with was the one skin
body, because like I said, I've always cared about, you know, taking care of the skin on
my face and the one skin for your face is amazing.
But something I've noticed that people don't really fill you in on when you're younger
is how your skin starts to get thinner on other parts of
your body. And so I've really, I started using it this last year and I've been super impressed. So
another important one to make sure you're slathering on Ellie. Yes. Thank you. I am using
it, especially in my, like that knee, the part where your quad hits your knee and your arms.
It's great. So they have too much information, but you know what? We're in a sharing mood. So
we are in a sharing mood.
It's been a long time since we've all been together.
And but they're, you know, I'm still like I'm very solar powered.
So summer's still going.
So they have a summer skincare essentials, like from daily moisturizers to broad spectrum
sunscreens for face and body.
One skin is more than skincare.
It's about skin longevity, targeting the root causes of aging to help you look and feel your best at every age.
So members and people listening get started today with 15% off using code FEMS, F-E-M-M-E-S, at oneskin.co.
That's 15% off.
How's the smart kid from Plano doing over there with that mask?
I'm following this.
One five percent.
One five percent at ones five percent um at one skin
dot co with the code the move as summer heats up no the code fem yeah or see the kid from plano
yeah well i'm excited because i'm on the move as summer heats up give your skin the uv protection
hydration and cellular support it needs with one skin it's time to expect more from your skincare routine.
Lance.
Love that.
Also today brought to you by Honey Stinger.
Most of y'all know I've been involved
in this brand for so long.
We've got some of the oat and honey bars right here.
By the way, I got roped into doing the Leadville 100
last Saturday with my good friend, Mike Freeze.
I actually had a hell of a time.
It was a long day.
It was hard.
But in all seriousness, like I was, and I've said this a lot,
like the stinger waffles, which we helped create, I don't know, 15 years ago.
What a race fuel.
Like I was, you know, it was a long, long hell of a day,
but I felt fueled up.
Like this was, I had my pockets full of stinger waffles.
I was going between the salted caramel and the vanilla.
And, you know, for this old man, I never bonked.
I never cramped.
Ultimate race fuel.
But you were actually complaining earlier that the waffles weren't here.
But Bolch had to remind you that they're in the truck still from the.
They're still in the feed zone truck from from Leadville.
But you had a borderline temper tantrum. It was, it was close.
No, no, not at all. But, but Stinger's just crushing, of course,
based over in Steambone Springs, been in, been in business for a long time.
And again, the, I think some of the ultimate race fuel,
which so many of us are interested in these things.
We know that nutrition and fueling has become a big part of the story of,
of not just the women's Peloton, but also the
men's Peloton. And it's made a real difference. So. Well, also if you just, if it's something
that you want to eat, you know, if it tastes good and you like it and you're, and it's not
like you're feeling like you have to feel yourself. Oh my God. No. Yeah. It's tasty.
Right. And for you parents out there, your kids always grabbing these chocolate chip cookies,
give them a stinger waffle. They'll love it. I promise.
Head on over to honey stinger.com slash the move to check out all of their products,
including my favorite. As I said, the waffle, our listeners get 25% off your first order at honey stinger.com. Use the code, the move, right? The code is the move honey stinger.com
and get yourself fueled. All right, let's talk about stage one.
A bit of a surprise, right?
Charlotte.
Wait, can I do, how cool is that?
Stage one.
Oh, sorry.
Wow.
Wow.
Oh, and you know what?
Clearly I have had a little too much time off.
Thank you, Colton.
By the way, shout out to Colton.
Happy birthday.
Had his 22nd birthday yesterday. Thank you, Colton, for that way, shout out to Colton. Happy birthday. Had his 22nd birthday yesterday.
Thank you, Colton, for that reminder.
I'm off my game, but this is day one.
We will be on point tomorrow.
So for those who watched the men's tour, we had Alain.
It feels a little weird having Alain back to announce the women's stages.
So we have special guests all week.
Mel Hincapie.
So Mel, what did we do today?
Stage one, Rotterdam to the Hague. Rotterdam to the Hague.
I love the French lady trying to, or not trying,
but pronouncing the Dutch towns, the Dutch cities.
Anyways, but yeah, Charlotte, cool.
I thought what else was cool was what a start for team DSM.
They had the same start of the men's tour who expected a team like DSM to get both stage ones,
which obviously means two yellow jerseys, hell of a start for that team.
Yeah. And you were saving that and you didn't. So members heard that, but I was just like,
oh, good point. That is incredible for team dsm it is and
something really interesting about charlotta cool is uh we all were talking about um lorraine
weebus assuming she's the favorite which she was a hundred percent she suffered a mechanical coming
into the last 100 meters or so and um but charlotta cool's had a tough season she's had over 19 the
wins in her professional career she's a very good sprinter so you're looking at winning stages at the vuelta to the uie tour etc but
prior to uh lorena weebus going to sd works pro time her lead out was charlotta cool wow
and and i wonder how that's going over there i mean like she had a well i think right when it
happened she actually beat uh weebus in a sprint and one of the first races that they
did.
But ever since then,
it's been,
we've just kind of coming out on top on everything.
So this was huge.
And I mean,
her name was out there somewhat like,
you know,
she was one of the favorites for a podium today,
but not necessarily,
you know,
coming through the wind like that.
Yeah.
I had picked her when we were sitting at the house earlier that she was second and to weavis so i mean but she just won that sprint
by a landslide there was a lot of time how do you think a lot to oh yeah i mean what's that
the drop chain had like i mean it was hard to really say they were you know head to head and
actual when they were going but i mean she won that sprint an
amazing way yeah it's cool yeah and gets a yellow jersey and gets a yellow jersey which is always
and the and the other jersey she has the points jersey which she will of course will not wear
tomorrow but um she's technically the owner of both of those which i found interesting though
so something we can watch in later stages was Marianne Voss going for the point,
the intermediate sprint.
So that means that's going to be one of her goals
as much as stage wins,
but also going for those intermediate points.
Let's talk a little bit about this route.
It's an interesting route.
If you just look at the map,
you've got basically half of this
tour de france fam of x swift is outside of france right we always and you and i think you
i kind of like that you see the crowds i mean anytime uh the men's tour the women's tour is
outside of france the crowds are bigger and you saw it um in holland today um but there are four
stages basically outside of we do do, I think three in
Holland, a little bit in Belgium. And then finally on, on the finish of stage four, we go back
to France, but it's, it's an interesting, to me, if I just look at the route, right, you've got
obviously these stages, which there's our route. Look at that. Hey, see it. Um, but you're going
to have these big crowds, but, but right away tomorrow, a double day, like, I don't know.
I do know I can, I can speak for every professional cyclist ever. I don't men or woman
doesn't matter. We hate these. They are terrible. Like even if you just look at the stages and
they're short and you think, well, it's a big just something about i mean it's not like everybody agrees that the morning stage is a warm
up right they're gonna race yeah and then you gotta get a just but it's to me getting redressed
and reshammed to do a time trial i think they're the hardest it's they're the hardest days and
i find it interesting that in the media so much they they're saying, Oh, it's, you know, a day that's not going to count for this and that. And, you know, I, when I see it, I think, Oh my God,
they're going to race full on in the morning because it's a short stage. And they think they,
people think they have a chance and then coming back and trying to put yourself together for
a time trial in the afternoon is, is going to be difficult.
Yeah. You're looking at that morning stage is 69.7 kilometers. So it's going to be borderline criteria. Right. Right. It's that's two hours under. Yeah. And you finish and the legs are,
you know, toast toast because you finish hard and then you get straight in the bus or the car,
they'll go back to the hotel and then you got to get warmed up again for a time trial. It's,
I haven't seen, I mean, I can remember doing these 20 years ago. Yeah. I haven't seen a double stage in a long time.
I hated them.
Oh, they're terrible.
And I think, you know, it actually, I think that Chloe is a big favorite in the time trial.
And I do think that of any of the people who can probably come back for something in the afternoon, since they're used to doing so many efforts on the track like that, where they, you know, shut it down and then come back again. I think that favors the track writers, especially in such a short, you know, short,
like prologue almost type, uh, time trial. Yeah. So stage three, 6.3 kilometers, also pancake flat.
There's some turns in there. Um, I've done multiple like times on two stages, like a lot of
times the tour of Holland or great Britain mainly. And I'm just going to say, as a time trialist myself, and Mari, you can disagree being a world champion time trialist yourself and silver medalist in the Olympics.
But 6.3 kilometers is barely over the limit of a prologue.
It feels like a prologue.
That's not a time trial.
Bless your heart.
For you folks who think in miles, I mean, we're looking at just under... It's going to be
an under 10 minute effort. Less than four miles.
Yeah. It's under 10 minutes. That's not a time trial.
And I think this holds true.
I think it might change a little with the morning stage,
but we used to always work off this idea
that the shorter the time trial, the
longer the warm up. The longer the time trial, the
shorter the warm up. But they're still going to...
I mean, they're going to feel like they've been
on the bikes all day tomorrow. Well, and the morning stage is definitely
not going to feel like an opener for your afternoon session. So, uh, it's going to be
interesting, but I do think that, um, after watching Chloe's time on the, on the track and
in her team pursuit, she was so strong on those hard pulls that she was taking longer pulls and
stuff. I think it's going to be, it's going to be a awesome race for her. I mean, speaking of Chloe Diger, we got,
we got, uh, quite a few Olympians and Olympic medalists in here. Where were we trying to count
them up four or five that we could get to and maybe missing a couple, but several of them American.
And you were there. Yeah. It was so exciting to watch actually. Um, you know, the success that
our women had at the Olympics is the best we've ever done.
So it was exciting to be there and see it all, starting with the time trial.
Well, the time trial was kind of a mess with the crashes and such, but the weather was kind of kept getting better and better from there.
Especially Kristen Faulkner's win in the road race.
Yes, we're looking at.
Not like she beat any panicle because either.
Yeah, that was some panache. road race. Yes. We're looking at, not like she beat any panico cause either. I mean, yeah,
that was some panache.
And we saw her when was at the stage of the Vuelta that she does the similar
attack.
Where's it?
The Gerald,
I think it was Vuelta.
And,
um,
but just goes and doesn't look back.
She doesn't even celebrate just like goes through that line.
And I said,
I saw some meme that was like,
you know,
if you deliver,
if your job is deliver mail, do you celebrate when I was watching and not that we're getting off topic a little bit, but if you did watch the Olympic road race men and women, I mean, you can't think of a better finishing straight and I'm watching, I'm like, honey, please put, I mean, you have the Eiffel
tower, it's framed up Eiffel tower, the Olympic rings. And she just cruised across the line.
I'm like, what's up y'all? Like just another day. But you know, after the Olympics before,
when they weren't sure who was off the front and there was all that chaos and stuff without the
radios. I mean, I think she just wanted to get it done and wasn't thinking about, you know, anything else.
I mean, hoping that it was her, but not 100% sure.
Especially, I mean, when Voss and Capecchi
looked at each other, I was just like, oh my God.
See you in the douches.
Incredible.
Total see you in the douches moment.
See you in the douches.
So we're looking at, we can do American riders
and then our Olympic medalists.
Four Americans.
By the way, there's like 12 Australians.
I just want that to be known.
There are a lot of Uzbekistan too, right?
Well, that's, we lost.
We lost a few.
Listen, I don't know.
We'd have to go back and look at the data.
I don't know how many listeners we usually have from Uzbekistan,
but if anybody's listening, by the way, I don't even know where Uzbekistan is. I really don't know how many listeners we usually have from Uzbekistan, but if anybody's listening, by the way,
I don't even know where Uzbekistan is.
I really don't.
I could look it up, but we lost four Uzbekistan riders today out of seven.
So there's only three Uzbekis left.
You should know where Uzbekistan is if you raced first on it like I did,
but that's okay.
I'm going to leave that.
That's Kazakhstan.
Yeah, that's Kazakhstan.
But when you race for Astana and it's like Russian and all those countries.
I raced for free.
I didn't have any responsibilities to any stands.
Okay.
But to keep going on this route it gets interesting right to me if this is this if and
for those at home if you if you want to wait and see who wins the tour and you got uh you know
limited time wait to the end but these last three days get nasty obviously the final day ends on
i don't know which i i think is the fenway park of cycling finishes on Alpe d'Huez. I don't understand why the men's tour doesn't go there a lot more often.
I think it's going to be a hell of a finish.
Well, I will tell you.
But it's all the way towards the end.
That is the last stage.
The men's tour has done Alpe d'Huez 32 times.
Yeah.
That's not enough.
Okay.
This is the first time.
It has occurred in other races like Ardèche and things like that, but this is the first time it's happened it has occurred in other races like ardash and things like that
but this is the first time it's happened tour de france film yeah of x with yeah but 32 times
in the the previous editions of the tour de france before they were this the most recent ones yeah
yeah the relaunch yeah the relaunch yeah but i mean it's in it's gonna be awesome the crowds
are gonna be phenomenal yeah yeah but it's those, it's going to be awesome. The crowds are going to be phenomenal.
Yeah. Yeah. But it's those last three days or, and if we're talking about,
I mean, I asked y'all this morning just to get a gut check on, I mean,
Demi Vollering is still the favorite,
the overwhelming favorite or the favorite.
I would say the overwhelming for you. The overwhelming. Yeah.
Look, I was trying to be like not showing my favorite.
Well, I mean, I think if you look at the media and stuff you that would pretty much say who's the overwhelming favorite right but i mean i think other things other things could possibly happen
her team is a lot weaker without marlin and capecchi it's a lot different scenario this year
you know maybe the other teams try a little bit more to set things up in leading up to it
that's curious not to surprise not to see lotto capecchi i mean i get a lot of times you would say
you might skip an event like the tour to prepare for the olympics but the olympics
i was like i mean what's why not it's a week long like i was surprised i was surprised too
and i think especially her coming out with a bronze
medal in the road race being a little disappointed great last year yeah so i mean what are we the
world champion i don't know interesting well and then after the olympics i don't think she saw the
results she was wanting so i'm sure she's regretting not she did not have the legs yeah
when kristin faulkner went i mean mean, even when she went across, she was.
You could tell she couldn't pull through.
Yep.
Yeah.
That's surprising.
She did do a huge match.
She was the only person really to bridge after that crash that caused the selection when Chloe crashed.
So she did do a huge match there.
But that is something that we can look at throughout the week is Damian Ballering.
And her team is probably, I think on paper, not the best climbing team. there. But that is something that we can look at throughout the week is Damien Ballering and
her team is probably, I think on paper, not the best climbing team. Does she need the help? I
probably not, but she is missing two of her biggest like engines. And as far as climbers,
there's not a ton because they're also looking for stages with a Webis. And then we'll talk
quickly to like on team dynamics. We can look how that
goes, but you know, she's rumored to sign with FDJ and for over a million Euro, we've talked
about it and she just signed a huge deal with Nike. So she's like the fake, Oh my gosh. Yeah.
It's so cool. But is the, you know, maybe that's why Capecchi isn't there.
I mean, that would be one of the things you could think of would be kind of the internal stuff going on.
Do they not want to be together?
It's easy to.
Does she need climbing help?
I mean, I'm looking at stage, the stage to Alpe d'Huez.
Sorry, this is the stage to Le Grand Bournon.
There's climbs all day long.
Yeah.
Right.
This is 3,100 meters, almost 10,000 feet of climbing over 166 kilometers.
And these climbs are early.
So does she need climbing help?
Uh, yeah, I think so.
Go to look.
I mean, Alpe d'Huez, you got to go over the Glendon before then you, I mean.
But it'll take other teams kind of all teaming up against her instead of it just being.
Stage Alpe d'Huez?
4,000 meters, almost just shy of 4,000 meters climbing.
Hello, Vegas.
No.
Well, and then that guy today is one of the ones who's a pure climber who they're looking at for the last two stages, you know, for those climbs.
And I think she got lucky today without having a time penalty.
And, uh, they got lucky that they were, yeah, we were betting people.
They would have doctor some time today.
Let's do a little more business.
And then we'll keep talking about this and then, you know, some other stuff.
Today's show also brought to you by Roca.
Rob and his crew down in our hometown of Austin, Texas.
Just making sick shades, right?
On the performance side, on the chilling, casual side.
And, Mari, on the reading glasses side.
I'm telling you this.
I know I need to try them here.
Now I've got to put them in every room and every house
because I can't even see the light switches to know which thing to turn on.
But they've completely changed the game.
Unbelievably lightweight.
You literally forget you're wearing them.
The best optics on the market, period.
Crystal clear, fog resistant resistant and scratch resistant folks
they actually look totally badass i saw a ton of them in leadville it's cool to see that out there
the move listeners get 20 off just go to roca r-o-k-a.com nice all right do i get to do that now yeah i don't know well i don't know we
do like two and two okay you remember do you ever watch love connection no no you're too young i
didn't watch love connection with chuck woolery remember chuck woolery he was the host of love
love connection they'd like try to pair up these people.
I'm getting somewhere with this.
It was like a game show.
This guy was cool.
This dude was really cool.
Had a big old Rolex on.
Every time they would go to commercial break,
he would always do it down low.
He had this big roll on.
He goes,
we'll be back in two and two.
Just like if you're watching, two and two. Just like, so y'all, if you're watching two and two,
because the commercial was two minutes and two seconds. So we're going to do these ads two and two. Okay. That's my point. Oh, okay.
Can I just say Wahoo?
We need to get Chuck Woolery rocking the, uh,
the Wahoo computers and the, and the, and the trainers and everything.
And the speed, speed play pedals, but yeah. Wahoo. What's up with Wahoo computers and the trainers and everything, and the Speedplay pedals.
But yeah, Wahoo.
What's up with Wahoo?
Well, I mean, I think, you know, Lance, you and I disagree at times, hence Mari is the
moderator here, but we agree on a lot of things, especially on Wahoo.
On, yes, GPS computers and Speedplay pedals.
I actually have been, you've been on Speedplay for a while.
12 years. I'm longer than you on Speedplay.. I actually have been, you've been on Speedplay for a while. 12 years.
I'm longer than you on Speedplay. I know. Since 2009, I have ridden Speedplay's pedals.
So from bike computers to pedals, Wahoo bike computers are proven in the Peloton. They're
used by so many of the World Tour teams. I just saw some nice gold hardware coming on the Wahoos
from people winning medals and
such.
So, there's features like the summit feature, which you were talking about, you were using
that at Leadville where you could see what climbs are coming up and what's going on there.
And also, you can have this new controls on my SRAM group and I can change my music with
controls through the Wahoo computer.
Can I ask a serious question?
A race related question?
Yeah.
Do these teams preload the routes for the teams now?
They do.
Yeah.
So every, I mean, they're not just hitting start and stop, right?
This is, they don't need to, obviously they don't need a turn by turn instruction, but
they have the routes preloaded.
A hundred percent.
And I talked to some of the women at EF and they were talking that it's just been a game
changer because I didn't have that opportunity, you know, when I was racing to have it.
And, you know, if you don't know a descent or a climb and you can do as much recon or
look up a Google Earth.
But these girls are saying it's helping even in the sprints because, you know, you can
see when that turn is coming up when you need a game position.
And yeah. So also we're looking at aerodynamics is playing a huge part in the Peloton. So you can really go faster. Those people, I pedals, sweet play arrow is proven
to save you time and increase power on your longest rides. I don't know. I love those pedals.
So Wahoo cycling products are trusted by the pro Peloton. We see Wahoo's element bolt GPS by computer on the handlebars of world tour

Wahoo.
Wahoo.
Sorry.
I've been waiting for that%. Wahoo. Wahoo. Sorry.
I've been waiting for that.
I know.
All right.
Anything else stand out?
I'm just scanning the news here.
I'm still surprised that that guy really, I mean, this is the thing with cycling.
You just never know who the commissars rotate.
You never know how they judge things. They were speculating on TV.
Wow.
She spent a lot of time behind the cars.
By the way, in the old days, that was allowed.
You just sat behind the cars and like, just bring me back up there.
They really cracked down on it.
There's still nothing on it. It sounds like it's just a financial or just a fine and no time.
Because she would have, yeah, it would have been terrible.
Yeah, it would have been really bad for her to get a time penalty right now or i mean i even heard someone saying they can get
kicked out of a race for sitting behind the car for too long and i mean you would think on the
first stage that would does not especially for their gc leader yeah that would uh would have
definitely been bad i did have a couple of like fun stats i wanted to talk about and then and
we can jump into riders to watch.
But there are 20 riders under the age of 23, which I found interesting. That's the trend.
Yep. And we have a couple riders of high caliber. This is their first time competing at the Tour
de France Femme of X Zwift. So Chloe Dygert, um, bronze medal in the T the time trial in the Olympics gold
in the team pursuit. Um, and Blanca Voss, uh, who was the unfortunate fourth place at
the Olympic road race. So she's here and we've talked about her on the show before. Um, she
also raced in mountain bike race at the Olympics and got 10th puck Peterson, who's our cyclocross
rider. She races for Alpison Phoenix and she got fourth in the mountain bike race.
And so this is her first stage race
she's ever done.
She is so good.
She's a world champion
like cyclocross.
She's incredible.
She's incredible
on the mountain bike too.
And I think she's so young
and seeing her come here
for her first time is,
I mean, awesome.
Yeah.
Ruth Edwards
from Human Powered Health,
American rider. It's her first time? Yeah. I know from Human Powered Health, American writer.
It's her first time.
Yeah. I know. And Neve Bradbury, and she's on Canyon SRAM, and she was third in the Giro
this year, and she actually dropped Damie up the blockhouse. So she won that big climb.
Yeah, it was nasty.
Cool. I know. So those are some kind of fun, like cool facts. Um, I did want to, before we shut down on stage one, give a shout out to this, uh, Christine, Christina Tenetti, the woman that was pretty aggressive in the really early part of the race, trying to get someone in a break. Um, so that was fun,
fun to watch. And their manager actually was one of my teammates, uh, long time ago,
Joanna Sumariba. And I actually think she's one of the smartest minds out there,
world champion won the tour three times, um, back when it was the previous rendition of the tour.
Um, and, uh, so I thought that was really exciting to see that she's back involved again. In fact, or three times back when it was the previous rendition of the tour.
And so I thought that was really exciting to see that she's back involved again. In fact, I was asking Johan this morning,
how long has she been managing? You know,
cause I had no idea that she was back involved, but this team,
I think they're, it's going to keep getting bigger.
I love how everybody just calls Johan.
You got to call and notice what's going on.
This could be the junior under 12 category in Croatia.
Let's just call Johan.
He probably knows these kids.
Speaking of first-timers, she's not in the race this year,
but we're talking about the Olympics, talking about mountain bike.
That's annoying, that ESPN alert.
Pauline Ferrand-Priveaux, who destroyed the mountain bike,
who has now stated
that her number one goal next year
is to come to the Tour and win
which I
I don't know but
that's
has me curious, interested
I've raced against Pauline
for many years and she is
tenacious and she knows how to prepare
also I'm a huge fan so you're going to see the girl crushes against Pauline for many years and she is tenacious and she knows how to prepare. Also,
I'm a huge fan. So you're going to see the girl crushes. It's going to be a little mixed next
year. You know, it's going to have to wait a year. She's also French. And I think that having
this tour starting in was a big piece of that because, you know, to try and win this in your
home country, if you guys could have been at the Olympic mountain bike race, I was out there in the, you know, the masses and it went crazy for her. I mean,
it was, was insane. I hadn't seen anything like it. The whole place was just full and just all
the people singing and going crazy. And it was amazing. Yeah. And at one point she was a world
champion in the road race, cyc. Cycle across and mountain bike.
This woman is incredibly talented, gorgeous inside and out.
But I'm excited.
Anna Bragan is coming back too.
Oh, yeah.
So, I mean, that's another big name coming back next year.
That's going to be that, that I wasn't expecting to hear.
This is also a tour preview for 2025.
See what you missed out on yesterday.
A lot going on.
Anything else stand out on this route?
I mean, again, I'm looking at the last few days are just next weekend.
Essentially, it's just it's tough.
So we're going to have to get through these northern stages.
And then, yeah, I think I guess what stands out, out too is just never know with wind wind weather
things like weather it was warmed out there today it was over 90 degrees and and still i do think
it's bizarre we don't hit france until stage five but stage four and stage five are very um
amstel gold and liege the stone liege so that's some possibly rain yeah yeah always there so
that's a good opportunity for some classics riders.
So that's when we can think about other riders that are looking for more of those stages.
But also if you're a GC rider, not to make a mistake and how hard those stages can be in those roads out there before we hit the big, the big thing.
So when we're looking at riders, you know, we have our boss, Trek Segafredo is missing her Lamborghini.
So Elisa Longobrigini is not in the race.
And then I had one gem I found from our girl,
Cecile Ludwig.
Yeah, from a couple of years ago.
I saw that.
She has this.
She's in the race.
She's in the race.
She's not had the best year,
but she says,
I want to be the bubbly attacker dropping bombs.
Oh my God.
I love that.
Yeah.
No, that's
does tomorrow's
is tomorrow's time trial
we talked about
is short, right?
Four miles,
six point something kilometers.
Is that even,
I mean,
Demi Vollering has to be thinking
steal a little time,
right?
10 seconds,
15 seconds,
20 seconds.
Yeah.
Over her TC contenders.
Yeah.
If her team might be a little
compromised on the climbs i mean this is look it's a race right uh and the time counts and look at
the route and it's a very technical route yeah in her home country so she's um roads look to be dry
we should say that i mean that's important when it's that technical yeah but they should be dry
i'm curious if she'll i mean i, I think, I think she has to,
yeah, she has to go for it. So it'll be a good race. And I mean, I think that like you were
saying earlier, the fact that they have the race in the morning is going to be difficult to manage
for the people who are going for the time in the afternoon. I never liked those. You try to take a
nap and have another shot of espresso, like have breakfast and try to fake it. I don't know. Um,
but we did, we did notice some really pretty views when we're, we're in the Netherlands today.
Lots of flowers. Lots of flowers. And so another fun fact that, that was going through a Damie Bollerine's
hometown where she used to work in those greenhouses and her, she's a flower student,
so she has education in flower design. So.
Where do you find this stuff? Is that on their wikipedia i mean that's seriously like that
i might whatsapp her name draw you know everybody that sits in that left seat is just a name dropper
connected person but you though i haven't seen you so impressed about the flowers the
you you were liking the you gave it something a 10 out of 10 the helicopter art yeah
oh the one thing yeah well the dutch love their cycling that's for sure and then um you know as
we're speaking too i i don't know who to give this to lance careful charlotta cool so marie
pretty much marie and i have a new boomstick yeah we have a new boomstick yep yes thanks to sean
um oh my goodness it's carbon so i think it's actually a lot better than new boomstick yep yes thanks to Sean oh my goodness
it's carbon
so I think it's actually
a lot better than your boomstick
like
it would hurt less
oh she'll make it hurt
yeah
so beware
but thanks to Sean
for making this
mainly for Mari
but I'm taking ownership
and
so who are you giving it to
well
isn't that cool
yeah
let's do it
yeah Charlotte of cool with the boomstick
she just waxed that sprint kept her head up stayed positive in um rough year but 19th win
she said she said in the post-race interview uh the best day of her life which you know
you know it is a big damn deal well we're happy for her too yeah i loved
the emotion celebrating but seriously the speed she came in um coming off the sd works um lead
out barbara was still up there and um barbara sorry she's my speed teammate um but that speed
all right how does that make you feel when you look up there and it says 1990s? I know, I was like, I saw it too.
I'm like, oh God, well at least you weren't born over
2000. All that stuff on the
graphics and then you see that 1999
and I'm like, oh no. Well at least she was born
in the 1990s. I said that in
your house earlier. I was like, well at least she's
in 1990s. Barely.
Barely. I was born
in the 1900s.
Our second place finisher was born in 2003, but she's a three-time Finnish national champion, time trial and road race.
We're in the national championship.
All right.
Before we get out of here, just a little shout out and a big thank you to Sir Bradley Wiggins.
We dropped the episode of The Forward with him, uh, just the other day,
the feedback's been amazing. Um, I thought, I thought the conversation was real and authentic.
I loved having him on the show. I said it on, uh, when he was leaving the men's tour, I think he's
one of the best in the business. Um, and, and to have him sit. And we also, I think if you follow
cycling, you know, uh, that he's just gone through some time, some stuff.
And so I thought he was wildly open and transparent and vulnerable when it came to talking about that.
So just a couple of comments that some of the listeners have sent in, listeners or viewers.
Dr. Chronic Dirty Dishes.
Whoa.
By the way, Dr. Chronic Dirty D dishes. I feel like that's one of my children,
right? Sir Bradley is the man. Best video yet. Brad should do the tour with you guys every year.
I agree. At Colin Power, this is powerful stuff, guys. Phil Horn 3293 says, one of the healthiest
conversations I've ever heard. Good to see this. A person that has faced trauma and controversy needs to figure out how to move forward.
Needing help is typical.
Hard to do solo, especially for folks used to doing things on their own.
That's right.
Connor Gallagher says, very compelling interview.
Brad has a very high Q, which I agree with, and is brilliant at articulating his story.
Such a powerful show.
So if you haven't listened to it or watched it, it's all out there. Apple Podcasts, Spotify,
YouTube, check it out.
And by the way, I think
Wiggins is either back in town
or maybe just... He keeps coming back to
Aspen. So we sort of start the episode
talking about Aspen
and the history of its reverence
for outlaws, which of course he is.
And I haven't seen him,
but... I heard he's coming back. Again, this is amazing. reverence for outlaws, which of course he is. And I haven't seen him, but.
I already got my back.
Again, this is amazing.
Yeah. I mean, I heard it within a week from my sources.
And Sir Bradley, if you're listening, just, you know, give me a shout, man. I'm here, man.
We should actually, if he comes back, it'd be fun to have him on.
He would love it. Let me tell you something. This guy pays. He's like Johan. He knows.
So we'll be texting him in between now to just do a group chat with Johan and Sir Bradley.
It's just like, you know, the the Svengali group chat. And he knows it's amazing.
Anyways, check it out if you haven't yet. Thanks for tuning in. This is just getting started. And, oh, no.
Courtney, does Courtney put you all up to this?
We are just getting started.
That's right.
And we're going to wear this hat one day.
Hashtag watch the fam. This Zwift hat.
But thanks for tuning in.
We'll see you guys.
Mari will be up very early.
I'll be up very early watching it all.
I fully admit I will not be up. I'll be up very early watching it all. I fully
admit I will not be up.
I will wait for you to make me coffee.
A coffee will be on. Alright.
Thanks for tuning in, everybody.
Thanks. Bye. © transcript Emily Beynon
