Starting point is 00:00:00 I don't care what anybody says. She's paying attention. Not just to this race. She's paying attention to what's happened in the offseason. She's paying attention to Paula Blossie. She knows the number. If we're talking about the number, she knows the number. She's like, hang on.
Starting point is 00:00:13 Hang on a second. Yeah. I can ride G.C. as well. Like, don't underestimate how much motivation that gives a rider. Olympic medalist second of the Vuelta won the Tour de Swiss this year. No, she knows. I think you're right. All right, everybody.
Starting point is 00:00:31 We are back to the move. podcast. What are we now? Over halfway. We're over halfway. Oh, no. It's flying right. I mean, not oh no for the riders, but maybe I don't know for you, Allie.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Of course, joined by Mari and Ali. Just fair warning, everybody. Allie is, I don't know, maybe because Blaze is out of town. You. Something is going on. I don't know if she woke up on the right side or the wrong side of the bed. But it's different. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:01:04 No, it's good. That's good. You be you. Big energy. Big energy. She was firing bugging me in the gym this morning. Just kidding. I'm just trying to figure out a commute back home by my-
Starting point is 00:01:16 I'm going to design your route. Don't you worry. All right. We are talking about stage five action-packed. Very, very hard, hard to watch, actually. Very hot. Hot, hot, hot. I don't know, 10,000 plus feet of vertical climbing.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Mel, what did we do here on stage five? Stage five from Macon to Belleville in Bojolay. This is right. Macon to Belleville in Bojolet. I mean, that's what, like, now we're really in France. Like, that is so cool. We're in France. I mean, amazing little roads all day long from the start.
Starting point is 00:01:49 I told you. Those roads are gnarly. These are the kind of roads. Like, if you watch, these are the roads, you know, I like to ride, you know, like two hours, two and a half hours. You watch this stage and like, now that. Like little roads, probably very little traffic. Like that would be a fun place to like chill, do two and a half, two, two and a half hours, you know, during the day and then do something else.
Starting point is 00:02:12 A little more region. There's some rosé, some Blancet. Having, you know, but having the race there and just action, you know, bodies everywhere. We call it. The race is still going on. There's still riders on the course. Still Zad Vanda's on course. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:27 And by the way, Ali, maybe that's why you're so excited this morning. We were right, Demi Vollering. Twinsies. Yeah, I mean. I know you don't want to be cute, but you're cute. And a lot of headlines. Demi wins. Demi wins.
Starting point is 00:02:42 A lot of headlines, a lot of takeaways today. I think, obviously, we have to, Demi was superb. She made the race aggressive. She won the state, got the time bonus. And the other thing is we have, before the race, we talked about the big three. I think we have to kind of reshuffle now the big three. Well, I think you also have to look at Marlon and how she's in, she's now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:04 She looked great. Yeah. I mean, and Pauline, there was something about it early on. And I don't, you know, I've never ridden with her. A lot of times you ride with people and you really get to know the way they pedal and the way they sit on a bike. She, to me, just watching, she just hasn't looked comfortable. And today was it all came down today. Yeah, I still have some high hopes, but yeah, today was very sad day for that team.
Starting point is 00:03:36 I think she didn't look comfortable, as you said. She didn't look comfortable on her time trial bike yesterday. It's just, it's hard to be watching it. I did like the quote yesterday. You know, I think she handled the press quite well when you have the entire world analyzing your position and your performance. And we're a part of that. I was included. I saw our Instagram clip yesterday. I was like, Ouch, Lance, did you? That's kind of mean. I felt like I did. But actually, though, her quote was very cute. She goes, it was the best time trial of, you know, my career, basically. Of the season. At the season, because she doesn't time trial. Yeah. I mean, that's. So fair point. And Pauline, I still, I still have very, very high hopes. But I think my ultimate theme of today is Lance.
Starting point is 00:04:26 doctor is in session. Well, coming back to PFP for one second, I feel like, you know, I hope that it's not the Iliac arteries causing this problem and making her readjust her positions on the bike because she did look different on the bike today. And you hope that that's not the reason that this is going on because we all want to see her racing for a lot more years because she's amazing. So, you know, hopefully that's not the case. She looks uncomfortable on the Like two Iliac surgeries, but she did win the tour after post those those surgeries. But our guy, Colton, sent me an article to remind us that she did have ankle surgery over the off season from a Strata Bianchi crash and kind of festering pretty pretty grotesque
Starting point is 00:05:14 injury. So maybe, but she did have a pretty good early season and then started faltering. So I'm curious what that's like. I mean, it cannot be easy, right? Obviously, she's French. This is the Tour de France family of Ex-Swift. She is the defending champion. What advice would you give her girl?
Starting point is 00:05:32 I mean, look, I know exactly what she was thinking. I mean, she was three minutes down, right? She's there with just a couple of other ladies going into the tour. She'd never envisioned being on this stage with those riders. Like, she envisioned something different. For those guys. Although Anna Vannebrigen was there with her, too. Yeah, it's not a fun place to be.
Starting point is 00:05:52 She's probably taken all the inventory. can in her head. The thing I, that, um, that I'm struck by is that this isn't just, as I watch her, right, and I watch clearly a difference between her and Demi, her and Cassia. And now her and Dr. Roycer, um, this is a big difference. But what really strikes me is that the difference between Pauline in 2026 and Pauline in 2025 is, that is a huge difference. This is, I mean, in terms of percentage points behind, it's just. something is off, whether it's the injuries, the surgeries, poor form, not the best prep. You know, by the way, too, I mean, you know, she was the bell of the ball.
Starting point is 00:06:33 I mean, she's French. The French in this event, whether it's the men's race, the women's race, haven't won this race in 50 years. So you have to imagine her off-season, which, by the way, I wouldn't fault her at all for really enjoying herself and being honored and being really heralded and promoted in the country of France. That could have come, that could have been an issue, but it's just, I also don't think you can downplay the factor of weather in this, too. I mean, with it being so hot. And if you, like, get a little bit behind on your recovery, for whatever reason, even if you have the best preparation and the best people helping you, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:11 recovering from those things and trying to come back. I mean, we're seeing a lot of that out there. But it happened with her, too. Yeah, no, I possibly. But Lance, I had a question on this. Like, you know, when you win your first tour and you come back with that pressure, like, how do you, like, is it the pressure or is it the preparation? Is it you try to do it the same as you did last year and now you're doing something different? Like, what would you recommend or what did you do to kind of overcome something like this?
Starting point is 00:07:38 Well, I don't, I mean, she strikes in. Again, I don't, I've communicated just a little bit with Pauline, but she strikes me as a person who is just a stone cold killer, right? That's the reason she has won in every discipline in cycling because whatever the bike is that they put underneath her, as long as they put the numbers on her back, she is going to race. So that I would think that there's a couple ways to do it. You could say, hey, I won the tour career. That was the crown jewel for me. Or you could say, wow, that was great. I want another one.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Or I want two more. Or I want my feeling after 1999 was, wow, that was really cool. I think I want another one of these. Yeah. And maybe a whole other one. And I had a whole, you know, there's all the other storylines and narratives that were the situation in the year 2000. Because 1999, Jan wasn't there and Pontani wasn't there. And so there was plenty of chatter that, yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:39 All right, the cancer kid won. Great. But Pontani wasn't there and Jan wasn't there. And they were there in 2000. I said, okay, well, now everybody's here. So now we'll see. And so I use that as fuel. Again, I don't know her.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I don't know what motivates her. But, and by the way, too, if you're off physically and there are things, and we can see, like, again, I can see it. That is a person uncomfortable on a bicycle. So it's the Tour de France. You saw the stage. Like, the last thing you want to be is uncomfortable. I'm rooting for me too and and and now and as we said we have to reshuffle the top three Dr. Roycer I love I love Dr. Roycer I just learned yesterday you know educated but by the way
Starting point is 00:09:31 nerdo over there why don't you get on there figure out what percentage of these women are educated I'll get on that I bet it's a shockingly high number because wasn't Because in the men's peloton, it's like... Yeah, I think Paula is also a doctor, isn't she? I mean, there's a lot of smart women here. Right? In the men's race and the tour de France of X-Men? You're sitting next to two very smart women with like PhDs and stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I don't have a doctorate. And you're sitting next to the guy that, you know, barely clawed out of plane O.E senior high. Who's way better at the MAPS than me. So I need you to get propeller head over there. It's anyhow, I will find that out. The doctor. She has, she has to, become a part of this conversation. When I watch her, I'm reminded of one rider. And it's not a,
Starting point is 00:10:19 it's not a female rider. It's a male writer. She reminds me so much of Miguel Enderite. She doesn't say a lot. She doesn't get out of the saddle. It's the steady, cool metronome style. She doesn't panic. She can time trial. She can climb. Yeah. Look, she's not going to attack and ride away and make these really dynamic moves, but she doesn't have to. She has time. She has the advantage. If she just stays within herself, that's a big, you never know. And that's what Indyrine did. Like he was always in control. He got time in the time trials.
Starting point is 00:10:51 He let guys have the TV attacks. And he said, I'm just going to stay here with this rhythm. And I'm going to have some teammates around me. And guess what? It worked five times for him. And by the way, she's wearing number 51, which is a famous number. When it comes to the history of the tour. It is.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Number 51 is outside of number one, which, Number one has the most wins in tour history, obviously. Number 51 has the second most. Yeah. Pretty fascinating. It's amazing. We talked about it last year, but also, like, I think when Rooster attacks these climbs, there's some, like, confidence in this where she has said that people always underestimate her
Starting point is 00:11:31 because she's tall. She's a bigger rider than the others. But she, like we talked about yesterday, that she can control her effort. And we were watching it today. The accelerations happen. and she just stays on the gas. And I think there is a lot of interest to me on this confidence where you see the surges. You see that and you go, not my problem, not my problem.
Starting point is 00:11:53 And she was really following them pretty well, though. I mean, on those really steep sections, she wasn't, for the most part, letting big gaps open and kind of riding herself back into it. She was right there just looking comfortable, which says to me that she has a little bit more. So, you know, she's riding with her. really incredible right now. And she knows, we said this yesterday. Look, I don't care what anybody says. She's paying attention. Not just to this race. She's paying attention to what's happened in the off season. She's paying attention to Paula Blossie. She knows the number. If we're talking about the number, she knows the number. She's like, hang on. Hang on a second. Yeah. I can ride GC as well.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Like that don't underestimate how much motivation that gives a rider. Olympic medalist second of the Vuelta won the Tour de Swiss this year. No, she knows. I think you're Right. I think her confidence, and I'm going to say ego in the nice way. Like it's ego, too. But she's also been riding, don't forget, she's been riding with Demi for a lot of years before too. And was her teammate and knows the things that concern Demi, knows how she thinks in a race, has probably helped manage that in a race. So she has a lot of this knowledge that's going to help her be able to be, you know, prepared to do what she can with the form that she has right now. doctor is in session.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Doctor. Doctors in the house. Here we go. Today's show brought you by Pioneer Pastures. Full disclosure. I love this brand. Love it so much. I invested in the company.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Actually, I was drinking and using the product way before I ever put in a dime, true story. Pioneer Paster shakes a real A2 dairy, Allison. It's a special cow. It's an A2 cow. Allison's like, what? I'm a cow girl. I've got this.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Well, then you should know what an A2 cow is. lactose-free, 30 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar, no seed oils, no artificial sweeteners, none of the chalky feeling every other shake has. You finish a ride, drink one, and get on with your day. My frigid home is always stocked up with their stuff. You can find the shakes on Amazon and at Target and at Target and sprouts. Here's the deal. Pioneer Pastures has an exclusive, buy one, get one free offer for listeners of the move.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Go to pioneerpastures.com slash the move. Over to the cowgirl. Yes. So I was going to talk about brawaxing after the utter talk. But no. We are going to touch on brawaxing. Also brought to you by Honey Stinger. My folks from SPT Gravel were cracking up, Lance that you said our sport is weird yesterday.
Starting point is 00:14:23 And it did make me laugh too. Oh, yeah, it is. Our sport is bizarre. So, but anyway, Honey Stinger. We love Honey Stinger. They're just up over the hill here. And the boat is what I call it. But anybody who's down a long ride knows what you put in your gut matters.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Honey Stinger has been fueling endurance athletes such like Lance Armstrong for over 25 years, real fuel, not just candy, even though I think it tastes like candy, dressed up as sports nutrition, and they're right up the road, like I said, in the boat. But they aren't resting on their laurels, and they have just launched two new incredible products, which Dave Bolch will not let me try because they have caffeine and sugar. Electrolite gels and 100 milligram caffeinated chews, and all of it is easy on the stomach three hours in. So use the code the Move 25 for 25% off at Honeystinger.com slash the move 25. That's going to fuel me for the rest of the day. Well said. I started to think as soon as we said bra maxing, like maybe we shouldn't even feed into this thing. We should.
Starting point is 00:15:26 It just continues to be. I am, you know, I think stories, storylines like this in cycling. And you look at the men's tour with the middle of the night control. Jonas Van Gogart 2 a.m. Tadi Pocotaur 5 a.m. This was international news. And this was really, if you looked at a heat map, this was the biggest news story of the Tour de France,
Starting point is 00:15:48 not what Tade did. In this particular, in the Tour de France family of X-Wift, this whole bra-maxing thing, my buddy sent me, somebody Chato sent me some story in a British paper that said, I think we have an image of a picture. Oh, yes. Padded results.
Starting point is 00:16:03 That's better than my inflate gate. See, I just don't, dear sports, of cycling. I know we got to have rules, but when your rules are like this and whatever, and those are the only things to get headlines, I just think it takes away from the incredible performances of these women, the incredible drama of what this race will surely give us. This has shame, right? And so.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Yeah, I was getting texts. Like, my girlfriend Kat texts me, and she's like, oh, what's the next thing that teams are going to go to Hooters to, like, find better time? trial list and I'm like oh my god like this is cycling come on people there's a Victoria's Secret Sam I am I do want the SNL skit though it's going to be it's going to be good it's going to be good dude sound like Boulder over there whatever it takes to get more people watching women cycling oh god um but I think though Lance like we won we we want our call for the day so you and I are definitely well we almost lost that's true because Cassia did
Starting point is 00:17:07 Do the attack, like we said. I thought her attack was perfectly timed. She got the gap. She was within, I feel like she was 150 meters from the line and still had four or five links. I was like, oh, I said it. It's over. It's over. That's what you said.
Starting point is 00:17:21 And they caught her. Liz probably got that on camera. Demi looks good. Demi knows there's time bonuses on the line. By the way, Marlott, Dr. Royster got the intermediate time bonus. So she netted two seconds on Demi. And then Demi gets the finish line time bonus. And so she nets four, which equals two.
Starting point is 00:17:36 so the GC gap goes from 14 seconds to 12 seconds. I love when Plano guy does math for me. You know, normally time bonuses don't matter. Yeah. But they might. I think they might. I mean, the X factor here is Momfantu. And I said it yesterday.
Starting point is 00:17:54 I'll say it again, this is the hardest climb in the entire country. And there's still an XNA on what that stage is going to look like. So that was supposed to come out yesterday like we talked about. Have they given an update on that? Nope. They said that it was yesterday. Which snow news is maybe good news. I hope it's the full stage and the way the glory of the tour should be.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Well, before we do that, these ladies have to get through tomorrow, and this one is another nasty one. If you were at the back of the peloton swinging today in the first third of the race, don't look at the profile tomorrow and don't look at the temperature. Don't look at the pavement. Don't think about the pavement. This is a nasty stage. 10,000, no, sorry, about 8,500 feet of vertical climate. One, two, three, four, five, six categorized climbs. Never flat.
Starting point is 00:18:41 It's going to be a hard day. It's a hard day. Another hard day. I think tomorrow's a good day for a breakaway. But there is that bonus sprint, but I think that's negligible. But those, you know, Dr. Roycer and Demi are happy to let those. They would just assume call a truce and say, let's not mess with the time bonus. Let, you know, let a breakaway go up the road.
Starting point is 00:19:01 But there are people, you know, below them who need to get. some time, you know. So, I mean, you're looking at like Vandebrae again, lost time today. And obviously, PFP, I mean, there are a few people who would want to be in a break if possible. Well, they're not going to let Paul Lane go. Well, I mean, but there are other people in there, too, who have Kim LaCourt. I mean, there are people in this like four minutes down range. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Maybe they let go. I mean, because it's a good breakaway day. It's going to be a smaller group again. It'll be similar, I think, to today. And then you'll get a break maybe coming off of that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, listen, Vauntu, otherwise known as the giant of Provence, will be sitting at the back of everybody's minds.
Starting point is 00:19:47 So no matter what happens tomorrow, they know that the next day they have to tackle the Vauntu. Well, and also a lot looks at how people recover tonight because it's the fifth day. You can tell that a lot of people are really tired. The heat's getting to them. That makes it so you don't sleep as well. You know, you start out the day a little bit, you know, bad. And then, I mean, there were people getting dropped from the start today. And people are still not finished yet as we're talking.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Yeah. Well, most have now. Have they finished? We were kind of eyeing the time cut. Time cut was right around 35 minutes. Yeah. But we did have a switch in the white jersey today. Okay. So Antonio Niedemeyer from Canyon Sram.
Starting point is 00:20:28 I think excellent performance. And, I mean, I was calling Paula Blossi since our preview show. we had a little drama where Lamborghini, so Lisa Longbourgine's like, oh, then media is playing up this team like dynamics and it makes me sad. And I was like, oh, no, but it's actually true, right? Like, it's hard.
Starting point is 00:20:47 But Antonia, our new best young rider, 23 years old, and this is her first tour de France Femme of X swift. And she's a world-class ski mountaineer. Wow. So talk lungs, light. Well, you ever done that? I did that. When we lived here, I would go skinning.
Starting point is 00:21:05 That's a hard sport. She didn't start cycling until COVID happened and all the ski resorts got closed. And she's like, well, I can't ski. I might as well ride my bike. Great crossover for cycling. I think it's incredible. I think one of their team you have to look at for tomorrow's stage would be the UAE team because they have three riders in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:21:22 So Paula Blasey is in at 351. I mean, they could try and get one of their riders. Still one of my top picks for the overall, to be honest. Overall win? Overall podium. Podium. Okay. Oh.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Breaking, breaking news. No. No. Podium. Walk me through how that's going to go down. Okay. Okay, Twain. Don't count out, Cassia.
Starting point is 00:21:46 I'm telling you, Vantu is this is another, this is another thing. Mm-hmm. This is, this is another thing. It's especially, and listen, Vantu, even on our year where it's not scorching heat throughout the country, Vantu's always hot. Mm-hmm. Like this, I don't even, it's going to be an oven. Oh, I did notice.
Starting point is 00:22:05 It's an interesting climb. It's just, it's a strange climb. Do you think team dynamics play, because since Vantu is so exposed, like after you get out of the trees and stuff, do you think team dynamics matter more on Vantu than they do on Madeline or an out-the-wez or something like that? It's much steeper. So it's hard, it would be hard for a team to sit up there and ride tempo and, like, for Marlins' team. Like, it's just hard to control that race. There's no switchbacks.
Starting point is 00:22:31 There's no, look, switchbacks are, we're designed to sort of, you know, for a lot of reasons, but when it comes to cycling, switchbacks are just a nanosecond of respite, right? They're a little flatter than the actual climb. Fantu has no switchbacks. Okay. There's one switchback down towards the bottom. The rest of the climb is straight. There's no relief. I'm telling you, this thing's this nasty. Well, and the heat's going to be a huge factor, too. I think the strongest team we have is FDJ. And I don't think Marlon has the team, but does she need one? No, no. I mean, you saw it today.
Starting point is 00:23:09 There was not many riders left. It's going to be the same situation. I mean, she's same, same tomorrow, too, by the way. Alcaccia has her teammate, Neidemeyer to help her, like, set it up for her to go on that climb. So it would be interesting. Another day, we have no idea what's going on. and more game on. Well, we kind of have an idea, Alie.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Well, Brake, G.C. Yeah. You know. Yes. That's true, though. We do. We know so much. Mori knows.
Starting point is 00:23:40 I don't know so much, but I don't say we don't have any idea of what's going on. Wow. That's true. It's exciting. How about that? It's exciting. Let's hear from you guys. And a reminder, here's our number to give us a call 9707182736.
Starting point is 00:23:56 It's going to be Mari's personal number today. We had an interesting thing with Liz Cruz yesterday that we're running tight on time. I might save it for tomorrow. She had a very weird scenario where she thought she was going to get attacked by mountain lion. I was going to go rescue her. That is just don't you dare. I would tackle you. I would tackle Dave.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Look, now she's running from behind the... Now you're getting ugly pictures of you. I mean, this is... I can be your emergency contact. I can be your emergency contact, Liz. I responded right away and I put clothes on. Okay. That was shocking.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Caller number one. Hi. This is Bill from Brooklyn. I'm wondering when the women are going to be allowed, if that's the right word, to race two weeks. They obviously have the physical capability. What do you guys think about? Sure. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:47 I mean, it's getting longer and longer every year. It's getting there. I feel like ASO is doing a good job of growing this race in a way that the Peloton can handle it or all the World Tour teams can handle it. So it seems like this rate of one more day every year has been good. And so I would say a few more years and we'll be there. Yeah, I'm going to agree with that. It's got to be a slow build.
Starting point is 00:25:11 And I know that we are capable of longer races, more stages. However, you're looking at you don't want to limit the teams when these, compared to the men's teams that hold 30 riders on their roster. And women's teams have 12 to 16. And you're looking at budgets. So when I was telling you those percentages, you know, 11% of this field have, have raced all three granteurs. And if you look at the men's, it's not going to look that way because you have more riders to fill those gaps.
Starting point is 00:25:43 But then there's also more racing days. So the three women's grand tours roughly is 25 racing days. And the men's for three grand tours is 63 race days. So you can't do that with a roster of eight to 16 riders. So it's about just building that momentum. And I am a huge fan, of course. We all are, Lance. Thank you for being such a fan girl of women's cycling.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I love it. But we also need to make sure we're doing it the right way, where there is viability in this, where it's sustainable, because we don't want to just say, sure, we can go ride 150 miles every day for 21 days. For sure we can. But how are they going to staff their teams, the riders, pay these million-dollar salaries that we're seeing?
Starting point is 00:26:24 So I actually agree with Mari that the way, the ASO is growing this, that might be a little bit, you know, ice age slow for a lot of people, but I think if you look at these stats that I've been pulling up, like, I think it's just a way to make sure that this is the biggest bike show on Earth. And how do we make sure that the riders and the teams can fund it? Yeah. And look, it's trending in the right direction, right? It would be one thing if you're one, it was eight days.
Starting point is 00:26:50 And then they say, well, we'll scale it back to six. Like, we're moving. Actually, you're one with seven days. I mean, we're trending in the right direction. Yeah, I agree. Additive time trial. So this starts to look and feel just like... Yeah, you have to think about the whole ecosystem, not just this race.
Starting point is 00:27:06 So, you know, we want the three grand tours, but they all have to grow at the same kind of pace. Yeah. By the way, having this one last, you know, fun fact, for those at home who don't know, of course, in men cycling, you have the Giro, then the tour, then the WELTA, which to me sort of means like, yeah, then the WELTA is out there. Like, that's... Maybe they don't think about it that way anymore. of this current peloton, but I would. But the women's sport is structured in a way that this is the granddad. This is the final one.
Starting point is 00:27:33 So if there ever was, I keep going back to this idea of a grand slam because I just love it. Like, it should end. Like, the grand slam should end with this one. You should? I mean, so, again, trending in the right direction. I love that the dude from Brooklyn asked a good question about it and just giving props to the chicks. Yeah, I love it, too. That was good.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Colton, what's our next one? Hey, my name is Victor. First time serious watcher of the Kula Pham. I have two girls that I'm trying to motivate to cycling. I would love to hear what you guys think about processes and ideas to get excited. Thank you. Watch the FEMs. Watch the FEM hashtag.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Y'all, I mean, look, well, I'm not going to have a lot to say about this one because, look, I have five kids. I get questions all the time. Oh, do your kids ride? or you write with a kid. I'm like, they write a little bit. Yeah. Like,
Starting point is 00:28:29 Grace will come out with us and we'll go ride the bells for fun. But my kids are, I see George and Enzo, I'm like, like those, the Armstrong kids are not like that. Like the, they had the kind of one rule and I was like,
Starting point is 00:28:40 just do something. And I will support that. If you want to play trombone, great. Let's go be a great trombone player. You don't play volleyball to Olivia, great. Max,
Starting point is 00:28:47 won't play golf, cool, let's go. Louie can play football at right on. The Nike thing, I don't try. I hear a lot about NICA. And I remember when it started and I thought, now, this is going to be interesting. But it just seems to have, they seem to have done a great job.
Starting point is 00:29:04 They do. They've done a great job. And so there are a lot of kids getting involved in riding bikes now in high school. That's the high school league. And it's mountain biking. But I think once a kids start riding mountain bikes, they start getting interested in cycling. And if you're interested in cycling, you want to watch the Tour de France. If you're a girl, you want to watch the Tour de France of Egg Zwift.
Starting point is 00:29:22 So, you know, it's like. My hope is that that's how we start attracting more kids into the sport. They get out there. Are they having fun? And the kids who want to be competitive are always going to be looking for that. How do I race kind of situation? And then we just have to have opportunities for them to get out there and do it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I mean, I didn't do organized sports at all growing up. I grew up on a cattle ranch. And I know you make fun of you for being a cowgirl, but I didn't. And then, I mean, but I think it's just for parents out there is to just encourage activity. And I think, I mean, there's so many stats and studies on just getting girls to start sports and stay in sports past puberty. So between the ages of 12 and 14, whatever that looks like. And then, Lance, you'll love this for Next Ventures and these firms that we work with is that female leaders most likely have played sports. And you don't need to be the best in the world at your
Starting point is 00:30:16 sports. So I think I highly encourage just parents to, whether it's cross country or soccer, or for me, was riding a horse around a ranch. It's just being active and getting strong, which does leave me into something. Yeah. I have a fun stat about the, about women who lead companies who played, I mean, no, it's crazy. It's like 90%. Yeah. The, the, the percentage of female CEOs in the United States of America. I love your stat. That, that, um, that, um, that played team sports as is growing up is like 90%. Yeah. No, it's a crazy number. I went to, by the way, cycling, very much a team sport. Yeah, it is a team sport.
Starting point is 00:30:54 And I went to Congress with Mel Strong, your teammate on Next Ventures, to talk about this to get more investment in women's sports. But this does bring me, as we close the show, to I had a wonderful conversation with my goddaughter last night. Her name's Cece.
Starting point is 00:31:09 She goes to Lodi High. And Cici here has been cheering me on racing since the Amgen Tour of California. So she grew up watching me race. and now she is watching the move in her French class. So be careful on your language, Lance, but she's now following this in her whole French class. No. No.
Starting point is 00:31:34 I feel like today I was good. But this is our future leader right here is Cece Colerasi. I love it. I know. And now she's 16. So there she is. There she is. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:44 And she plays tennis. I play tennis in college. And there she is playing tennis for Lodi High in Lodi, California. Isn't that so cool? Awesome. Amazing. So, yeah, maybe we bring Mel back on to the show to teach French more. I was going to say, there was one little sliver at the start for the French class.
Starting point is 00:32:02 We speak in English. Do you speak French? I do. I didn't ask you. Oh. I don't speak French. Okay. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Allie, do you really speak French? We. We. Okay, I could have done that. Jeparlet Le France. Jejuue de Nice. All right. Well, hey, we will be back tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Another doozy of a stage to be followed up by the Bantu. It's going to get interesting. There's already been, I love these races that, any race, where there's just surprises. Pauline is the first big surprise. Except you're not that surprised. I just, I don't, she just, no, I'm not. I know. I'm not surprised.
Starting point is 00:32:49 I am, but I have. much hope. Yeah. All right, we'll keep your fingers crossed. All right, everybody, thanks for tuning in. We will see you tomorrow. Three, two, one. Bye.
