Starting point is 00:00:00 Demi Vollering clearly studied this route, clearly studied this run-in. That was unbelievable. And it had everything. It had all the makings, right? It had her going away solo, her taking, I almost said retaking, taking yellow. Of course, she has won the yellow jersey before. And as we see here in the final, the last 10 minutes or 15, 20 minutes since the race finished, we got a lot of drama. Oh, so much drama.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Cassia is not happy. She said at the beginning of the final climb, Celia, Gary blocked me on purpose of the barriers, so I had to stop pedaling. If they want to compete, they should compete fair play. I lost all respect for them. And then she goes up and confronts her. All right, welcome back to the Moop Podcast. Lance Armstrong. I don't sound funny.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Do I sound funny? No, you sound like you went to a concert last night. Yeah. I talked about it. We can touch on it. Turns out there's plenty to talk about today. I'm joined by Mari Holden, Alison Tetrick right down there. My partner's in crime.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Well, you know what? Let's do this first. Let's bring in Mel. Mel, what do we do here on stage eight? Stage eight from Cisterone to Nice. Cisterone to Nice. That's pretty, you know. We can do that one.
Starting point is 00:01:21 We could do that. We could pull that off. It sounds tame. Tomorrow's going to be really tame in terms of pronunciation. I have a feeling it's not going to be so tame in the bike race. So let me get this straight. We spent our time yesterday when we were talking about today's stage, sort of just giving this to Lorena Wevis. You should get over these earlier climbs, finish on the promenade, another field sprint.
Starting point is 00:01:47 We were wrong. Did we read the wrong or look at the wrong profile? I said a break. I said a break in a competitive. I mean, that was very different than a break. I mean, that was like it shattered. We're not giving to that one. This was as if we read the wrong page.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Yes, the finish was a lot more difficult, especially with FDJ on the front like that. FDJ going full send. They had a plan. By the way, it goes back to right what we said at the beginning of this tour, this thing's going to be exciting. I think we're all sitting there like, wait, what just happened? Every day gets better. Demi Vollering clearly studied this route, clearly studied this run-in. That was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:02:31 And it had everything. It had all the makings, right? It had her going away solo, her taking, I almost said retaking, taking yellow. Of course, she has won the yellow jersey before. And as we see here in the final, the last 10 minutes or 15, 20 minutes since the race finished, we've got a lot of drama. Oh, so much drama. Cassia is not happy. is accusing Demi's teammate of putting her in the barriers,
Starting point is 00:02:59 confronted her teammate at the finish line, which we're going to show here in a second. Yes, she said. Kasia's quote, and you've got to give it a little credit to athletes, and Lance will talk about it, maybe later if we have time, but she's right on the pavement finishing.
Starting point is 00:03:15 She's just lost the yellow jersey, and they stick a microphone in her face. And she said at the beginning of the final climb, Celia, Gary blocked me on purpose of the barrier, so I had to stop pedaling. If they want to compete, they should compete fair play. I lost all respect for them. And then she goes up and confronts her.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I think Colton has that. Yeah, let's roll that right quick if we got that ready. Why did you close me to the barriers? Was it part of the plan? No, but like, why? They can give me the answer also. This is, I mean... Drama.
Starting point is 00:03:48 We were afraid we wouldn't have enough to talk about today. I get so frustrated in the men's tour when these guys always hug it out. What are you hugging for? There's no hugging. We're not hugging anything. There weren't hugs yesterday. This is the anti-hug.
Starting point is 00:04:00 This is. This is womenizing. And in the comments, she said, she said, I have lost all respect for them. I mean, that just, them are fighting words. And tomorrow's a big fight. And so, I mean, this thing's setting up. Like, I just, just, I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Like, I'm just sitting on the couch watching. Yeah. I mean, we watched that moment when the, the, putting her in the, the barrier or that's what they said happened allegedly and we watched it several times trying to see exactly what was happening and you know sitting here it didn't seem like she got put in the barriers in the same way that it you know came across which i mean is also interesting that the woman celia had been pulling letter team out made up essentially over the climb down the descent up up for demi's attack that was a lot of time on the front she had to get off at some point and i and i
Starting point is 00:04:53 think, look, I mean, you have to leave it open for consideration that, yeah, I mean, this is, you can do that. But you also, we've all been there, right? She makes this monster effort. She's completely cross-eyed. Like, she doesn't know where to pull off. She's not, she's thinking to herself, okay, I have done my job. I have set up my team leader.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And I'm just going to get out of the way. Like, and we're not in their heads, and we weren't, we're not certainly in Cassia's shoes. We don't know. You know, and looking at the video, it doesn't, it's kind of hard to tell, but it's just kind of hard to believe. Nonetheless, it happened. This is what Cassia's view is. She is not happy. She has lost the yellow jersey.
Starting point is 00:05:42 She's now, she's gone from whatever 15 seconds up to eight seconds down, still close bike race, still a very hard final. stage, baby. Tomorrow's going to be game on and with these dissents. Because Celia Gary, we've had some comments on our channels where people were like, why didn't you guys talk about her? Because when we were going through that our Desh region, she was just
Starting point is 00:06:04 sending it. It's her hometown. She was French national champion, and she was actually 2025 U-2-3 world champion. But she descends fearlessly. And she can climb great. And so, I mean, I think she had a heck of a ride. And I really
Starting point is 00:06:21 don't think she meant to put anyone in the barriers. I agree. You're seen red at this point. She did a hell of a lead out. And I'll just remind the viewers and the listeners for the Tour de France of Ekmen. There was a draft king's prop bet on whether or not Taday Pokachar would win by seven minutes or more. We got a bike race this now, eight seconds. Yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:42 It was 15. And going into a final stage that is very, very hard. Like, I don't know. I'm going to take the eight second race versus the seven. minute race. Damn. But going into this finish, we were talking about it. So the gap opens up, Lance and Mari, and the Demi's off the front.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I thought it was a wicked attack, and she just stayed on the gas. And Cascia never pulled around Lamborghini, at least a longer burgundy. And Lambo's going full gas. And you're asking why. And I'm like, well, there's a stage one up the road. And it was three seconds, four seconds, seven seconds. And at one point, Lambo asked her to pull through. and Kasia shook her head.
Starting point is 00:07:21 So also, if you can close that gap, what do you think about Lambos? Well, look, I mean, I think when Demi went, you all remember, I said, I don't understand this. Like, this is, I questioned that move. I thought, and it initially did not look like she was going to get away. Kassia was there. I thought this is just a wasted effort. It was save it for tomorrow, 15 seconds. You actually even said it.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I said save it. I said, save it. I said, save it. This isn't worth it. Boy, was I wrong. Because then she just went. And then, well, Tasia did, and whether or not it was, look, I think what is a fact is that she did get impeded in some way. Did the, did Demi's teammate mean to do that?
Starting point is 00:08:08 That we will never know. But she was able to bridge a cross, but it cost her. When she finally got across, she just couldn't hold it. And that, and that's what happens. And then at that point, I'm like, well, maybe it's not. such a bad idea. And then she just extended the late. Obviously, she did an incredible downhill.
Starting point is 00:08:24 But when you're on the Promenadezanglia, it was a long ways. That's just a drag race. Kasia couldn't help Wongo Brignini. And she just kept putting more and more time in her. And she, of course, they all know, there's time bonuses at the finish. And, you know, 10 seconds minus four seconds equals six seconds plus the 17 seconds at the finish. And there you go. You got an eight second bike race.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Unbelievable. We were mind-blowing. I don't know. Do you guys want to vote on my boomstick today? Because I feel like... No, I think it's kind of obvious. Okay. I think we're going to agree with you.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Boomstick. Demi. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, on an unclassified climb and you went for it, didn't look back. Actually, she did look back once? She did look back once. But boomstick. That is taking the race in your own hands right there with the powerful team.
Starting point is 00:09:15 You know what I see is, and when I think back to yesterday, Yesterday's final kilometer, and I think about today. And I just, over the years of watching her race, she's never struck me as somebody that is not obviously extremely talented, has won the tour before. But she never strikes me as somebody that just feels like she has it in control. The person, the rider, Demi Bollerman, we saw the last two days, it was almost like she had it scripted. She's like, okay, you know, I know I got to cut the gap here. You're talking about yesterday in the last kilometer, which she did. And I'm going to say, I'm going to do something Saturday.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And if I have to, I'll do something Sunday. It's, it is very, very, it's very dominant. Well, with the power when she went, was, like, out of control. Yeah. But she couldn't drop them yesterday. And then we could dive a little bit in. I know we don't need to talk about too much about yesterday. She could, you know, with that attack she had at the finish.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Like, that was a huge attack. But earlier when she went with 11 kids. go. She couldn't like that, you're watching going, okay, we may have a problem here. The rider that we saw in the last K, and again, we touched on this yesterday, people come and go through, you know, they have a little mini crises on a climb like the Vantu. That's expected. She found her legs at the end, but it was just, you know, it was so controlled, today controlled. Well, her team rode so well in the last part of the race, too.
Starting point is 00:10:42 When they first, they shattered the field. Yeah, and then, you know, they dropped wevis. Yeah. Kepecky. And I do think FDJ is the strongest team in the race. And that's what I've been saying is how you can do this. But Rooster at the end of yesterday's stage was like, Demi and I were stupid. Why was she attacking?
Starting point is 00:10:58 I don't need to do Bing Bam Bam. And I was like, no, you did a great race researcher. And she said when Demi went, she said, I just said, F it. I didn't swear online. So there you go. Actually, the Lance, you sent me on my own, like, version of Montvon 2 yesterday when I ran home. What the heck? You asked me to design you a route.
Starting point is 00:11:17 to get home. That was cool. So I did. I felt like I asked you, I said, well, you know, I sent it to you on Strava. You could upload it. I did it. There is not a tree in sight on that route. I didn't mention that there's no shade. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 00:11:33 That would love, that'd be pretty good to see you out there trying to find shade. Something like Rando outriding. It's like, yeah, I saw Allison Tetrick just curled up under a shrub. Pretty much. It wasn't until Brush Creek, but I took a selfie for you. to tell you I made it to the top of the radio tower. Today's show brought to you by Pioneer Pastures. Full disclosure.
Starting point is 00:11:52 I love the brand so much. I actually invested in the company. But I was drinking it long before I ever put in a dime. Pioneer Pasture Shakes are made with real A2 dairy. They are just resting on the laurels, and they have just launched two new incredible products, electrolyte gels, and 100 milligram caffeinated shoes. The Move 25 for 25% off at Honeystinger.com slash the Move 25. Worth noting the defending champ, Pauline and Perrault, packed it in, did not start today's stage. You almost saw that coming yesterday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:31 I wonder what the reaction is in France with the public. I don't blame her. I mean, when you're just off and you're not having fun, you know, granted, just two days to go, but still, it's, it's time. Yeah, hard two days. go home, reassess, evaluate what happened, not just for in this race, but for the entire season,
Starting point is 00:13:53 and then come back for 2027. It can't be easy. I'd be curious if she lines up for world championships because that course could be good for. And maybe this is a time to reset, go get rest, and assess her approach. We've got six, seven weeks.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Yeah. That's plenty of time. I mean, she's been a world champion before. Why not? Last year she didn't, you know, but I think this year. Yeah. I would love to see that Pauline were huge fans and it sucks when things don't go right.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Yeah. By the way, I mean, just it's, I'm still a little stunned. This is not what we, I'm laughing, kind of laughing at us that we were, you know, setting it up for for Lorena Webus. Yeah. And just we could not have been more wrong in the best way. In the best of ways. It was such a nice way. It was such a sense.
Starting point is 00:14:43 The best of ways that we were not personally racing it, though. Until the last part of the race, we were convinced that, yeah, they were going to catch him. It was going to be a lorina, blah, blah. And then all of a sudden, everything changed. Kaboom. Kaboom. It's exciting. I think it also shows how difficult the race has been.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Today was the longest stage. Like the men's race, it's been very, very hot. There's been a ton of vertical climbing. It's just been a hard tour. We get to around the eighth day, right? that it's supposed to throw curveballs at you on the eighth day. And maybe the writers, too, sort of looked at the profile the way we did and thought, okay, I can make it to this finish line with everybody. And Demi Vollering and her team, they had a different idea.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I have to think they were there. They reconned this. They waited for this. Yeah, they absolutely knew. It looked too good. It was too scripted. and I mean, two scripted in the best way, like they were planning this. I would, I would bet.
Starting point is 00:15:48 100%. Yeah. And that's, hey, hell yeah. Hell yeah. Thanks for great racing. Thanks for great racing. Can I get a hell yeah? Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:57 All right. So you all do that thing at the end. I'm going to start saying, can I get a. Hey, but we were talking about this. I actually, though, do think without Lamborghini, so Lisa Longerganiini, without her, I think Kassio would have lost way more time. Absolutely. Absolutely. So she would be in a different planet at this point in the GC. So, and I think, I love the way Lambo races and she was going for that win. But we were looking at these images, Lance, and you've been saying it every day. So I'm going to bring it up. And then Liz was talking about it too, because she just photographed the World Cup and how different it is. When these cameras, like perhaps Casio wouldn't have said that in this moment or Damie just finishing and collapsing, the cameras are right in these athletes' faces, giving no privacy. And Liz knows.
Starting point is 00:16:42 as a professional photographer, that's not like that in every sport. And you keep calling it a ghetto sport. No, it's not a ghetto sport, but it's a ghetto part of this. That's true. Fair enough. Sorry. We're seeing it in this race. Look, I could be the only person in the world that looks at this and is like, this is strange.
Starting point is 00:17:01 I don't think I am. But you have the best athletes in the world playing this game. What other sport do they cross the finish line, exhausted? and then all of a sudden there's just 20 photographers and cameras and randos around them. They're laying on the ground. They're laying on pavement. Hot pavement. I'm like, get everybody out of the way.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Get these athletes into an area where they can just sit down and chill and recover physically and mentally. I just think it's, by the way, they do it in every bike race. It drives me crazy. But they obviously love the stuff that comes out of it because we would not have had Kach's comment. unless, you know, they were right there. Because if she had pulled herself together more, probably would not have said it in the same way, you know, or thought it out, which, I mean,
Starting point is 00:17:51 has its pluses and minuses. Yeah, I think there's pluses and minuses. The drama that people get from it. But, yeah, maybe they could not be on the hot pavement. Yeah. Give them a sec. I like, though, that Lance, like, is really trying to protect the athletes here. And I do think there is some part of your job is to be vulnerable that way.
Starting point is 00:18:07 I just don't think we get clean. Yeah. No, it's not. And I'm not talking about cleaning. Like sanitary clean, I just don't think it's clean. I don't think it's a great look for the event, for the sponsors, for the athletes. I mean, clean it up. Have a place for them to, by the way, they can say crazy stuff and appear tired in a clean environment that's, you know, got sponsored.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Yeah, I don't know. No, I agree with you. It just says I watch it. By the way, let's pull up tomorrow's profiles. A couple of interesting things. If you're interesting things about this profile. Like on a hills. Like if you just.
Starting point is 00:18:39 So many hills. You know, you know, besides the fact that it's all climbing. Ray Charles can see that there is no flat sections tomorrow. As we dug into this, though, these are not all the same. The first three circuits are the same. That fourth and final circuit is slightly different. Now, why I'm not quite sure. Perhaps they think that there will be so much damage done in these earth.
Starting point is 00:19:10 earlier circuits that you are going to start to have cars and, you know, the circuit isn't that long. So you could see a world where you're starting to almost catch parts of the, of the Peloton or the dropped riders. Yeah. That second piece, sorry, the final, the final circuit up, the really the second half is different. They actually take a, they turn off of the Koldez. They turn, and this is just such a sweet story, but they turn on a road called the Boulevard to Duke Corniche, which means that road, the Dukornish, the Corniche is in front, in the south of France. So between Nice and Monaco, you have three ways to get between those two places. You have the Basque, the Mojian Corniche, and the Grong Corniche, right? The Corniche is sort of a crossroad. So the Boulevard to Du Corniche goes from the Grong Corniche to the Moyen Cornish. Now, fun fact, first time I ever moved to Nice and bought a house, it was right off of the Boulevard to Duke
Starting point is 00:20:02 Cornish. I'm studying this. I'm like, hang on. I know this road. They're going right by my old crib. This is insane. Now, what it does is it makes, and you can see it right there, right? The first three ascents are 7.7 kilometers. That final ascent is six kilometers and steeper. Boulevard to Duke Ornese is much steeper than the cold as. So, you know, for whatever reason, it is different. The facts are the facts.
Starting point is 00:20:29 It is harder. It is never flat. How's the descents? Like, what are... This is what I've been saying for days. I mean, you got to be careful. I mean, we saw crashes today and some. in the corners, it's, look, it's the south of France. It's been hot. Cars down there are not,
Starting point is 00:20:46 you know, not everybody's driving brand new range rovers that don't leak, right? There's leaky cars around that. Well, we saw some of that today, too. We saw it today because just, and it sneaks up on you. You're like, this looks dry to me. Send it. Well, not always, right? And so these ladies got to be careful, they've got to be careful in the downhills. And it's eight seconds. I'm sure the teams will be out reconning today. By the way, we don't want that to happen either. Like, that's the worst possible outcome. Horrible.
Starting point is 00:21:17 That somebody, their race is really affected by that. Oh, boy. It's going to be quite a day tomorrow. It'll be exciting. Yeah. For sure. And we're ready for it. But we did see some, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:30 If you don't want me to bring up the road art, Lance, I don't have to. Oh, no. You've been dying to talk about cops. Did I just say that out loud? You weren't just thinking it. No, you said it. We're not live today, though, right? Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, my God. I was hanging around too many hipsters last night at the John Summit concert. Oh, yeah. You guys saw me hanging. J.S. himself, huh? Well, we...
Starting point is 00:22:01 Just chatting about marathons, were we? Yeah. I saw that. It looked amazing. I was probably... That's fucking Armstrong. Oh, gosh. Did I also say that out loud?
Starting point is 00:22:13 Yes, you did. Okay. You know what? It's been a long month. I've got a bunch of bike. I think you're on fire. I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Not really. Go ahead, Allie. Well, I got one of these emails from our friends at the shift media. My friend Rachel Burnside sent me this. But Skoda is one of the sponsors of the tour. So they're going around and taking the rude graffiti and then helping it to promote the Tour de France of Famavex Zwift. Let me ask.
Starting point is 00:22:41 So they're taking the root graffiti. This is your job for a week. And then making it super girl power. I love it. Go fams. Viva la Fams. This is somebody's job. What kind of a sicko drives around France on the roads of the Tour de France family of
Starting point is 00:22:58 Ex-Zift and is drawing penises? I don't know. But they're doing a great job creating the art. Could we get a location of Chad Mountain? We were just talking about Chad Mel in Florida. I thought he's in L.A. He might be in France. I think so. But I thought that was quite cute. I'll give you that. I'll give you that.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Using the visibility to shine a spotlight in the women's peloton in a positive way for, I can't, rude graffiti, we'll call it. It's made me laugh all morning. Thank you for letting me share that. It's been a fun race. I mean, really, honestly. It's exciting. It's fun. Exciting. This stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Never would have predicted it. No. And it's not over. No. I mean, if I'm Cassia, like at this point, I don't say anything else. Like she said her piece that she did, by the way, she doesn't know that that's now all over the internet. Right. We're not the only ones talking about this.
Starting point is 00:23:55 It's now the time to go, all right, I'm keeping receipts. I'll see you all tomorrow morning. Yeah. Yeah. She's going to be out for revenge tomorrow. Yeah. And the numbers don't lie. I mean, we were going to, before what happened today,
Starting point is 00:24:07 happened, we were going to spend some time talking about her performance on Bantu, the numbers there are clear. This is the greatest climbing performance ever in women cycling. So what does that tell us? She's got it. Right? So now's the time. No more words.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Keep the receipts. Keep the receipts. What if you're Kossia, what do you do tomorrow before we do our voice notes? You got away? I mean, it's, it's, I think these circuits are hard to get a. way on, or I mean, this is, she has to wait. The last one, we just looked at it. It's much harder.
Starting point is 00:24:44 It's eight seconds. Time bonus. 10, 6, 4. All the way to the finish line. Final day. That's crazy. So you don't have to do much. You're eight seconds down, right?
Starting point is 00:24:55 You do not have to do much. You got to wait to the last lap. And Kasia's performance yesterday, arguably, 5.3 1 watts per kilogram for 55 minutes. Boys at home. I know. I voted to say, I don't think I could have been, I did that math. I saw her time of 55 minutes. I'm like, can I do 105? You were texting Mari and I, the stats last night. Like, we're into us. I saw that article.
Starting point is 00:25:19 It's super interesting. It was, I don't, I'm not so sure I could get up in 105. I don't want to find out. We don't have to yet until we invite her on a ride. All right, Colin, let's rock some call-ins. Call her number one. Hi, this is Michelle from Arizona. I was so inspired by you all in these amazing,
Starting point is 00:25:37 women, how much sugar do you all and the elite athletes really eat? Not the carbs, gels, and liquid on the bike, but after the stages and during training season, et cetera. And Lance, I remember seeing you on an interview years ago where you said, if I choose to eat that chocolate chip cookie, it could make it or break it for me for the win. This would love to know. I didn't eat a lot of dessert back in the day. I'm making up for it now. You guys should see my breakfast that I have here in the studio. No, you really should. over to the, it just drove Wiggins crazy, you know, because I don't know, I'd train hard and
Starting point is 00:26:12 for a 55 year old dude, I'm limping through life. But he's like, I don't know, I'm watching you. You eat like a second grader. Like, how is this possible? Diet Coke, a couple cinnamon rolls. Liz takes good care of us here, though. I mean, obviously the nutrition, the fueling part has drastically changed in men's and women cycling. But I don't know, like at the dinner table, what are the, I mean, obviously they're having carbohydrates and pasta, but how do they treat, they're not having ice cream, but I mean, I'm sure they're having tarts or something a little sweet. Maybe not.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I'm not exactly sure, but I know a lot of them are now traveling with their chefs and stuff. So they have their food trucks who are preparing food for them. And from what I've seen online, it looks like they're trying to get a good variety of foods there. One of the things in a stage race is that after a while you don't really feel like eating anymore. So you want to have things that, you know, kind of appeal to you and that you want to eat. So I don't, yeah, it's not just like white rice and chicken or something. No. And I think, yeah, you're right. And the way they are going to approach sugar outside of the training and fueling windows is going to be more healthy, something like a more complex carbohydrate, like a fruit. Like when I was racing on Estana, it's like fruit and yogurt is what you get for dessert. And I am the wrong person to ask this, though. Sorry. I know, but we're on the same team, Twinsies. You hate me.
Starting point is 00:27:35 It's okay. But I think, though, too, that it depends on the type of rider and I, you know, where you want to get those extra calories, whether it's a second helping at dinner or adding the sugar. I don't think it's that calculated. But I agree with you. It's not a lot of ice creams and cookies that are going to make or break. And I agree with Mara. You just get sick of, you get down to the table. You're like, okay, pasta.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Like, we would eat pasta for breakfast, which our breakfast was later. Late, yeah. So you'd see dudes just trying to customize pasta. Like it's spaghetti. Right. So I would never customize it. I always had some kind of omelet just dumped on there and just mix it together. Dudes be putting Nutella jam.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Like I got to just mix it up. I'm so sick if I ever see pasta again, I'm going to die. And so, yeah, it's just like. I'd put like eggs on rice, maple syrup on top, like anything to make that stuff taste good. You do get sick of eating. That's a good call. Well, and the fact that now they're. taking in so many carbohydrates on the bike.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I mean, I can only imagine that it's even harder to eat afterwards. That's a whole not other. They should try Honey Stinger, like, basically, because your gut. All right. Oh, and I should have said, because we now have one more day to call on and leave a semester. It's that number 970718-2736. Caller number two. Hi, team.
Starting point is 00:28:55 This is Ryan calling in from the Midwest. Today's commentary, the team discussed, wanting me to be more leniency. in the feed zones when the weather's hot, how did you handle feed zone restrictions in hot weather yourself? And isn't it all part of the challenge? It is. It's a good question. It doesn't sound like he's from the Midwest.
Starting point is 00:29:13 It does not sound like he's from the Midwest. Ryan, I know you might be in the Midwest. Don't know what that accent was, but I don't think that was Wisconsin. No, no, no. It's a good question. We were talking about because there are official feed zones, and then there's parts of the race where you're just not allowed to, feed. The interesting thing for me, and I thought about this yesterday with Dr. Roycer,
Starting point is 00:29:36 because she was, and they were talking a lot about it in the race that she had not taken a bottle, she did not have bottles on her bike. You're in that situation. You are allowed to take a bottle from some random person on the side of the road. It could be just a scary. It could be a clear water bottle that appears the guy has, our gal has just opened it and hands it to you. You can do that. If you were really, really desperate and really, really in a crisis, you would probably do it. Well, you saw Capecki do it in one stage. I was shocked.
Starting point is 00:30:08 You got to be very careful. I mean, it has happened in the past. Look, most of the time, almost all the time, you're going to get, you're going to get what you think you're getting. Every once more. You never know. You just never know. And so it's, but they're strict about that. Like you're not, you know, when they say no feeding from the car, if you took a feed, I'm not sure it's a time penalty.
Starting point is 00:30:29 It's a Swiss francs. Yeah. So then you're in a situation where you say, okay, I am in a crisis. It's not a time penalty. I have to have something. You pay the fine. I'm looking at my hand. I can take something from some stranger or I can pay a fine and take it from my team card.
Starting point is 00:30:46 You take it from the team card. We were watching Squibbon today in the break before, unfortunately, she crashed. She took a Coke can from her car. And then he didn't open it for her. So he then opens it for her hands. She didn't want to throw it away. No. Did you watch it?
Starting point is 00:30:59 She saw the camera. She saw the camera right there, and I was like, just throw that thing away. And she wouldn't throw it away because she knew she would get fined with the TV camera right there. She put it in her pocket. But today our feeds were open from kilometer zero, which I think is really rare and then closed until 10K to go. So it was super, super hot. They do make exceptions with the heat. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:20 And then one of the best penalties I saw today, not best, sorry. It's just a funny thing that we do not have time for today. But Damie and some of her teammates got fined for peeing yesterday. I did see that yesterday. I'm like pee-gate now? It's another one of these headlines. Where are we supposed to pee? You want us to hydrate and go to the bathroom?
Starting point is 00:31:39 I'm the one that didn't know there was like a special hidden zipper on chicks' bike shorts. I need to talk to Anna about that. I know. Anyway, tomorrow, we have no idea what's going to happen. No, we don't. It's going to be huge. Give us a call. By the way, nobody knows.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Right. And I think it is safe to say at this point that now it is a two-horse race. The interesting thing I just want to touch on for tomorrow before we leave is the Elisa Borgini that I saw today is going to be aggressive. She has a chance. She's improving. She is getting better and better. This is a circuit that she can be, watch. I'm just going on the record.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Watch her tomorrow. She's going to be very aggressive. If she rides a perfect race, Dr. Roycer suffers. Borgeny jumps up into third and finishes on the podium. The rider we saw today can do that. Yeah. A hundred percent. And I love the way Lambo races.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Especially if they start early in the race. Yeah. I mean, because she does still have to make up two minutes or a minute 45 or whatever. It's all dependent upon the doctor. How hard they ride. The doctor has to have a bad day in order for her to jump her and get on the podium. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:48 But the earlier they start the sooner. She has a bad day. Yeah. It's going to be a great day. And we get to watch it from kilometer zero. So Lance will see you bright and early. unless you send me another Vaughn too I'll be in the gym
Starting point is 00:33:00 I'll be in the gym you'll see me right when you walk in you'll have your breakfast for you when you come back down All right everybody thanks for tuning in we'll see you tomorrow
Starting point is 00:33:08 going to be a good one three to one bye bye
