Starting point is 00:00:00 Get your tickets now for the dog stars. It's no surprise how fast civilization can disappear. Go! Out there, just kill or be killed. Jacob Allorty. There are people out there? They need her help. Josh Berlin.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Shoot first and inquire afterwards. Margaret Kwalee. Okay, tough guy. And Guy Pearce. Arm up! The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott. In The Theater's Friday. Get tickets now.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Jake, your buzz looks amazing. Oh yeah. Let's start there. Let's start with my buzz. I buzz my hair. And now I want a thigh tat. Well, I told Jake when he gets his hair buzz, he has to get a thigh tat. I think like a tattoo and a buzz is just like a hot combination.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Do you think we have time to go today before a month? Yes, because I also want one. And it's 1.30 p.m. How long does it take 20 minutes? And then like how long can you not expose it to sun for? I mean, it doesn't matter. I expose mine to sun like an hour after. If it's on your thigh, it won't be in the sun, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Also, I want to dye Jake's hair lighter. I do too. So which one? Pick one today. Lighter? Oh, I would love to dye her hair today. But I don't want it to be bleached. I honestly think bleached buzzes are the hottest thing a guy can have.
Starting point is 00:01:26 But, okay, but for you, I would start just like one shade. I would love to do his hair pink. We could do pink. But I'm going to do my hair pink. You have to bleach it first and then do pink. If you just do it today? I'm down. Like, I would do anything.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Do you think that would do lighter, don't do pink. I think you should start with. lighter and then we can play around with it and do pink and a few weeks. But before I get my tattoo, I want to do the severance procedure. Sorry. What's that? It's when they, like, you go, it's like, you know how people do, like, ketamine therapy? Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:58 It's like when they, like, put, like, a little electrons on your brain. And for, like, the next hour, like, you, like, it severs your, like, frontal lobe. And you don't feel, like, you don't remember, like, you become another person for that hour. Like, your brain. So you don't feel the pain. tattooing. Like, people do it during childbirth. You're not,
Starting point is 00:02:17 tattoos are not even bad. I have literally 18. And, like, mine are tiny, so that's probably why. It's nice sometimes. Like, people do it for childbirth. Like, people get severed for childbirth. I need to do that for childbirth, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Terrified of having a baby. But we're adopting baby. We'll be fine. We'll adopt one. I would like to bird the other. But you know. It's very important. Well, you can get severed for that.
Starting point is 00:02:40 And I'd like you to be in the room. Absolutely. Holding my hands. You've never heard of the severance procedure? No. Ever. Also, you don't need that for a tattoo. Like, it's easy.
Starting point is 00:02:50 It, like, does not hurt. I hate needles, but I... Well, you don't needles. They just put a little chip right here. Jake, that's, like, more pain than getting a tattoo. No, but it doesn't hurt, though. Like, people do it for work sometimes. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:03:04 Like, people, like, it's like, if you're, like, handling, like, high government intel, you go in the, like, you go to work and you get severed for the day, so you're, like, they'll call it like their like you like right now we would be outies and then your iny would be your severed version what the actual fuck are you talking about and also you don't need this to get a fucking tattoo look it up severance procedure i'm not i'm like not kidding like i'm like it's all over ticot you guys i hate both of you so tonight we have on adam scott who stars in the hit show severance on apple tv books you do this to me i do this to me i Every time.
Starting point is 00:03:46 How are you always in on it? I don't know. I just ripped. You thought that was real? Well, at first, and then you started talking about a chip in your head, and I'm like, what the fuck? Babe. We've had a lot of changes in our lives. We've had a lot of changes.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I buzzed my hair. I just went to Germany. Yeah, how was Dusseldorf? It was fun. In your castle? Yeah, I was in a castle. I didn't sleep. I couldn't sleep there.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Right. You're in the factory? I was in the factory. I was in the factory making sure sour puss got made. I hung out with a lot of Germans. And how was that? Awesome. They're very lovely.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Wow. My schmettling. Do you know I'm German? Really? Yeah, I actually am. But I don't know what percent. Nine. Right, babe.
Starting point is 00:04:39 I have other things to say. I get a text from Will yesterday saying he found a pastor for me. And he really thinks I need church. You burst into flames. I would walk into church and I would actually light on fire. Actually, as of late, you've been well. As of late, I've been great. Cassidy is Loki one of the most emotionally intelligent people I've ever met in my entire life.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Slept on, I know. But yeah, it's true. I will give myself that. It's because you analyze things very hard. I do. I'm an observer also. Like, I can watch a room and I won't speak, but I'll observe everyone's behavior. and I'll just like think about it,
Starting point is 00:05:18 but I will never say anything. You do say something every time. Yeah, so I do say something, actually. And it's always about you. You always start a fight when you're drunk. Only to you. You do too. You both do. Yeah, I hate when you.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Actually, you started a fight with me. Will Scott a huge fight with me the other day. No. Yes, you did. You always said that I'm the one to start fights. Both of you do the same thing. No, I don't. Why would I ever want to fight on a night out?
Starting point is 00:05:44 You walk up to me and do it. You always. Why did I do that? First time I see you said, Hi. Yeah, but he got so angry at me. I heard about this babe. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:05:52 You did? Oh, from who? From what little birdie? Jake. He called me in the AM. Very anxious. Oh, yeah. What are you going to be for Halloween?
Starting point is 00:06:02 I don't know. I haven't thought about it, but I do love Halloween. What were you last year? Like, I love being able to dress, like, slutty, even though, like, I dress slutty every day. But, like, it's the one holiday you're allowed to, like, be naked. What were you last year? Okay, something's wrong. I don't remember what we left here.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I'm like not able to like think right now. What were we last year? I just got up a flight. I told you that, but Jake made me film right when I got to his house. I got off a flight maybe what, 40 minutes ago? And they didn't let you let you off the plane. They didn't let us bored. You have terrible luck with plays.
Starting point is 00:06:38 You have terrible luck with planes. Cass got off. Cass has lost her back now twice. I don't know what the fuck. is in the air with my luggage. But I just got back from Europe and I literally was sitting there with Sally, Peyton, and Julia. And I was like, making a joke.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Like, imagine our luggage doesn't get, doesn't come back. And I'm like, I have a really weird feeling my luggage isn't coming back. And I'm like standing there and I checked mine in with Peyton. And Peyton comes down and I was like, that's weird. I put mine right behind hers and that made me super nervous. And I was like, no, there's no way. Like this can't happen to me again. It just happened to me in January.
Starting point is 00:07:21 And all of a sudden, Julia's comes, Sally's comes. And I'm like, no, no, no, no, there's no fucking way. My, the luggage thing stops. Like, fully stops. There are two people left with no luggage. I look at them and I go, your luggage isn't here anymore? And I'm not kidding. I actually was like, there is no actual weight.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Yeah, my luggage was on the next flight because it was 23 pounds overweight. Another issue. Have we spoken about it on here when she lost her luggage with Frontier or no? She lost her luggage with Frontier and she went up to the Frontier worker. And she said, I need help. My luggage is gone and she saw them Googling on their computer what to do when someone's luggage is on. Let me actually go back to this story and then I'll stop talking for a little. But it was me, Peyton, and Sally.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I feel like I'm talking the whole time. I don't care. I'm listening. I'm listening. Me, Peyton and Sally. chose to fly frontier airlines. And I don't know why the fuck we did that. My mom was like, that was your first mistake, which like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:23 We literally were like, we're not paying over this amount of money to fly to Miami, whatever. So we chose the cheapest airline. And we get off the flight. Well, first of all, your flight was delayed until 2.30 a.m. No, this isn't even a possibility. Like, there's no red eyes going from Miami to New York. And all of a sudden, we get a notification.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Our flight is moved to 250 a.m. Like, is that a.m.? thing. Well, the latest flights out are the ones that normally get moved and pushed. But that's smack ass in the middle of the night. It was insane. Anyway, my luggage did not make it. And I went to the person and she's Googling what to do when someone's luggage is lost. And I go, ma'am, I go, do you work here? And she's like, mm-hmm. Are you helping me get my luggage? I'm really confused. She has a frontier airline badge. I just fucking thinking it.
Starting point is 00:09:15 I put it on myself. Because by the way, I ended up helping every other person who lost my luggage. There's a line behind me. And I'm looking on my phone, chat, EBTing. What the fuck you do?
Starting point is 00:09:27 I'm calling front to your airline's customer services. Girl's supposed to be working there. She's typing on the keyboard. Has no idea what she's fucking doing, by the way. Like, it was a shit show. I got it back a week later because I moved my ass every night to JFK. She went to JFK. Every night for one week.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And guess where my luggage was? In a cage. In a cage. The worst part is that the Thursday before I got it, I got it on Friday afternoon. Thursday, they opened the door and they go, that your luggage? I go, right there, thank God. Like, holy fuck. All my shits in there.
Starting point is 00:09:58 They go, you can't get it today. I said, why? He goes, I don't have the key. I was like, you don't have the key? You just open the door. So anyway, I had to go back on Friday and get it. It was gnarly. That was a really dark period.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Okay. Oh, God. Hey, am I styling, my buzz correctly? Yeah, I love it. Yeah, so, okay. And I love that link. Can I tell you one thing that I just want to tell you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:24 I want to shave the top a little more. No, I kind of like the link like that. Really? Yeah. Just because it's kind of fuller up here. For the first go-round, though. So should we get tattoos today? I'm down to get a tattoo.
Starting point is 00:10:35 You're what? Banana? Yeah. I mean, love it. But everyone I tell is like, what? Oh, I like it. I like the banana peeled, not the banana portion of it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:44 The peel. The peel. The peel. The peel. The peel. Yes. I would pay to get a matching tattoo with you, but I know you're not going to. You can get a banana peel. I don't know if that's fitting for me. So. A banana peel on my arm? No. It doesn't really match your skin. I don't. I got a skull on my ankle and Will had like a heart to talk about it. He said, please don't do it. Please don't do it. And you know what? I was proved wrong. It looks great. What does the skull mean to you? I just, I don't know. That's the worst part. I was in a weird era. You know when it was. I mean, the beginning of this year.
Starting point is 00:11:15 You've had so many different hairstyles. We are not talking about the one I just sent. That was so mean that both of you, both of you were in Miami with me and let me go out like that. Wait, did you see my get up? Did you see my get up? We'll have a cropped leather jacket and a mop on his head. I had a silver metallic leather jacket on and a mullet.
Starting point is 00:11:38 And my hair was literally marooned. Mind you. Mind who I posted that. I posted that. He posted it and I'm in the mirror like this. And he's literally next to me thinking... Croft's leather jacket. Did you guys miss me or what?
Starting point is 00:11:51 A lot. Beyond. Tonight on Therapest, we have Adam Scott, the star of Severance on Apple TV, which is one of the best shows on television. He is also the star of the new Netflix movie, The Whisper Man out August 28th, which I got to see and it is amazing.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Enjoy the episode. I love you, Pussies. My daughter says, please tell him. I think he's the voice of our generation. No. And that I watch him every day. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:12:20 What's your daughter's name? Tell her to come here. I did. Come here. I just told her to come here. Thank you for saying that about me. That is so kind. She left Archer.
Starting point is 00:12:32 She's in Beverly Hills. Oh, you're in Beverly Hills now? Yeah. She didn't drive today because she wasn't feeling well this morning. So she got to get around. You know, I just got over a cold. You did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:43 Bummer. You know, I have not been sick in, I have to admit, I fell asleep in the car on the way here. But I haven't been, I haven't been sick in like two years. Are you like, you don't drink, smoke, nothing? I don't drink. That's why you look so young. It's poison. Alcohol is poison.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I stopped drinking like 12 years ago. And it wasn't like a. thing. I was never a big drinker. I just kind of faded it out. Well, welcome to Therapus. Thank you. Thanks for being here. Thanks for having me, Jake. I'm such a fan. I'm a fan of yours as well. Are you really? I am. I thought you were terrific in the movie and I, of course, had seen you do things before then. But my daughter is, as you know, a huge fan of yours. Step Brothers was like my first like big it wasn't my first big thing but it was like the first big thing that ended up mattering do you know what I mean like you can do you know how
Starting point is 00:13:52 like if you're in show biz for a while there there's so many things that happen where you're like oh this is going to be the thing and then it's it's not and it just kind of no one cares and you're like oh maybe this is going to be the thing and then it's not and it's not It just kind of goes and no one cares. Step Brothers was the first thing that sort of like actually helped coalesce a career together. Did you think Party Down was going to be that thing? I never thought Party Down was going to be anything, which is part of why it was so fun, is that none of us thought anyone would ever see it.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Like, because we were on stars at a time when they weren't really making TV shows. and like and then it started airing no one was watching it but we were having so much fun doing it and we had kind of a chip on our shoulder like our show's awesome and no one no one's watching it but who gives a shit and we were just having such a blast and loved each other so much that it was like who cares right that's why it's awesome is because while we were making it we weren't making it for for a career advancement at all. We were making it because we thought it was great.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And so that sort of lives inside of it. And then eventually it did catch on way more than any of us ever thought it would. When did it catch on? Did it go on streaming on Netflix? It was on Netflix. I think it started catching on after it was canceled. Right. Like a couple of years after. Like,
Starting point is 00:15:35 I remember, like a year after it was canceled, we started talking about doing a movie. So it did sort of caught on by the, but when it was actually
Starting point is 00:15:44 on, the final episode got 13,000 viewers. Like, no one was watching. 13,000 viewers. Yeah. That's low. That's low.
Starting point is 00:15:59 That's low. Yeah. Wow. I know. Isn't that crazy? And it's become a cult classic. Yeah. Did you expect severance at all to take off the way it did?
Starting point is 00:16:08 No, I mean, we certainly hoped that people would be into it, but we also kind of thought it was maybe too weird and didn't really know. Because, I mean, by that point, I'd been doing it long enough that I knew that you never know if anything's going to be popular or whatever. So I always just assume Either everyone's going to hate it Or it's going to do nothing And people just shrug
Starting point is 00:16:38 So we really didn't know But we're pleased that People did I mean I watched that in college You did Yeah I was like day one The finale came out Yeah
Starting point is 00:16:52 And my roommate and best friend Brad I said you need to watch this right now Yeah Because that's the best finale in television history. Oh, good. Oh, cool. She's alive. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:03 I'm so glad. Thanks. Okay, so in season two, when you go back and, was it the finale or the penultimate episode that you go back and forth as the severed version of yourself and record those videos?
Starting point is 00:17:16 That was in the finale. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What was that like to film? It was hard. Because I'm just always afraid of things being shitty. you know, like I just want things to be great.
Starting point is 00:17:32 And so when it's something like that, it's like this has such a high bar. Like in order for this to work, it has to be really good. Because if it's an eighth of an inch off in one direction or the other, it's going to be corny and or stupid. It's kind of the whole show is like the whole,
Starting point is 00:17:54 the whole like idea and the whole, world and the tone is something that is so hyper-specific that if you're just a little off in one direction or the other, the whole thing kind of falls apart, right? Which is part of what makes it special and part of what makes it so much fun and so challenging to make is that it's a small, small target. And so that scene is one of those where I just thought like we really have to get this right and that all started with the writing because it's a really hard thing to write properly and these guys did an incredible job um but shooting it was uh was challenging because i shot all of it in my apartment you know uh just with my phone just so i would have something on set to
Starting point is 00:18:48 to work oh you like rehearsed it got it yeah and and and i just wanted needed something to, because I had that camera and so I was talking into a camera, so I needed something on the screen to talk to. So I shot both sides of it in my apartment. There you go. Very proactive. And then as
Starting point is 00:19:10 we went, we were recording as we were shooting because I'm talking into a camera. And so we started being able to use that. It was just a matter of like, what I, okay, here's hopefully a succinct way of saying it's not boring. The thing that I really, wanted is for the novelty of it, the novelty of this being the same actor, I wanted that to
Starting point is 00:19:31 wear off as quickly as possible and for it to just be a scene where two people are talking. Oh, wow. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, I know exactly. You wanted it to feel like two completely different people. It just, it was important that it's these two different characters that the audience has grown accustomed to seeing and knew exactly where each one was at emotionally and what they needed. from the other.
Starting point is 00:19:56 And I just wanted the conversation to occur without it being like, oh, look, it's the same guy. Do you know what I mean? Because that's not that interesting at the end of the day. So we just wanted the story to be interesting and the characters to be, I don't know, it is kind of boring. You wanted them to each have their own autonomy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Yeah. And Ben Stiller, who directed the episode, was great. and he and Jeff who edited did a great job too. Do you know Trudy? Oh, yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We went to college together. Really?
Starting point is 00:20:32 Yeah. Oh. I just filmed her short. Is she an actor? No, she's a director. Oh, good for her. Yeah. That's great.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Oh, so she directed it. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, she's amazing. Yeah. But she was like, I remember when we all found out she was working on Saffrons, we were so excited. That's cool. Where did you guys go to school? USC.
Starting point is 00:20:48 You went to USC. Film school? No, I went to PR school. She went to film school. She went to film school. No wonder it's all working for you. You went to PR school so you are able to sort of harness people's attention in an interesting way. Is that what you mean?
Starting point is 00:21:07 But I never really learned anything. Like I cheated on all my tests. Like we learned about the history of PR. I barely remember that. Well, that's not going to help you. Exactly. That's my point. So I asked why I didn't listen.
Starting point is 00:21:19 It's more about who. who you are and how you put it out into the world and how much of yourself you're willing to share. Was that ever a thing for you where you're like how much of my life do I want to share? I don't feel like my success started to actually stick until I was able to really kind of face up to really sharing myself with the camera. Do you know what I mean? Like if you have walls up because you're like protecting yourself or you're afraid of showing too much of yourself or vain or embarrassed or whatever, that's going to show on camera. And it wasn't until I was able to just sort of open up and share whatever was happening with the camera. That's when things started landing a little bit.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Does that make sense? That makes complete sense. Do you feel like there's a role that you like? really did that in, like, that you were able to open up and didn't notice that. Yeah, party down. It's a great show. We watched that in reference to, because we were writing, we were writing the pilot for, in development with Hulu now, we, like, reference Party Down a lot.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's cool. So you're aware of, like, public perception and image and have been. Yeah, I was very, very aware of it. Far, probably too much, but every high school kid is. I was, I'm always aware. But that's because my parents were super aware of like,
Starting point is 00:22:50 yeah. There's like how, like, they were like, who's like, like, you know, where do you think you got that from? I mean, I was always very, very into how I was presenting myself and planned my outfits specifically. Even if they looked totally like nothing, it was all very deliberate. Were you like that in high school? Like, really? I wouldn't plan my. outfits but I in high school I was and today and and call it so forever I what care what like
Starting point is 00:23:23 people think of me and how I'm perceived and like you so yes I mean I think for me it's start because in middle school I was heavy and you become or I became very very self-conscious and so when that happened rather than becoming the like you know, um, outcast at the back of the classroom, I decided to lean into it. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:23:52 And I like, it was the year pretty and pink came out. So I dressed exactly like ducky. I wore like big blazers and blow ties and, and, uh, pegged my pants and, uh, and like wore like,
Starting point is 00:24:07 you know, just like dressed exactly like him and kind of tried to like start this whole persona. So I could be like the, the, the sidekick to the, Yeah. Hot girl.
Starting point is 00:24:16 That's how I felt too. That's how I felt too. I was heavier set when I was in like fifth and sixth grade. Yeah. And then I lost a bunch of weight at the end of sixth grade. But I think it like shaped who I was. Yeah. Because I wanted to, I just remember being like, I don't know if you felt this way,
Starting point is 00:24:35 but I was like if I'm going to be in this room, like I'm going to make you laugh. Yes. And that's what will be my gift to this room. It won't be how I look. It won't be what I wear. 100%. my ability to make you laugh at me. That's right.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah. That's right. And that actually hurts too. Yeah. Right? I mean, you don't realize how much it hurts until one day you're like, wait, that hurt. Yeah. Till you're out of that phase and looking back and like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Yeah. I think I'm like in that phase right now still. I'm very self-deprecating. Well, yeah, me too, to a fault. And I, and I, my wife is always telling me like, stop saying that it's a fluke that you have a career. You say that? All the time.
Starting point is 00:25:19 All the time. Do you say it so much that you end up believing it? Well, what I say it about is stepbrothers. Because getting that job, someone had the job before me and had to bail because of schedule. And so they had to cast the role quickly. And so whenever I say that, because I'm asked about that movie all the time, so whenever I say like, well, it's kind of a fluke.
Starting point is 00:25:44 that I got the role, Naomi, my wife is just like, you have to, like, what do you do? Like, stop it. Right. But I feel like it's, I have to. But I think those years of being heavy, particularly in late elementary and middle school, it was so formative and so kind of, I still feel exactly like that. And I feel like that's where, like, if that didn't happen to me, I wonder what kind of person I would be if those years didn't happen to me
Starting point is 00:26:22 because it was so, it's so shaped me. Right. Because it's so humiliating the way people treated me. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. I did not know that about you. I mean, I wasn't like, I mean, you know, it happens to, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:36 it's a part, part of puberty for a lot of kids. It's, you know, I'm sure that's exactly what happened to you. Yeah. No, I stopped eating lunch. You did. Yeah. Well, I certainly, for my 20s, was like very, like, watching what I ate like a hot because the ultimate nightmare is to go right back there.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I went back there. You did. Yeah, post grad. First year post grad. I started making my own money. Were you in graduate school? No. So it was after I graduated USC.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Yeah. It was a year after. Yeah. It's when I started doing like this-ish full time. And I started making my own money. so I can start, I started postpating a lot. Have you ever had Mr. Chows? Yes, I love Mr. Chows.
Starting point is 00:27:18 I had Mr. Chows four times a week for six months. I fucking love it so much. I put on 25 pounds. What is it at Mr. Chow's that would... The lobster vermicelli noodles. Never had it. Oh my God, I want them right now. My mouth is like actually solidating about them.
Starting point is 00:27:33 You've never had the lobster vermicelli noodles. No. It's Chinese angel hair. With lobster. Yeah. So it's Chinese food. Okay. I'll order it next time.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I have you had the green prawns? Of course I've had the green prawns. The green prawns are the, I just had it two weeks ago. When I'm in New York, I always order Mr. Because you know, you know, it's lucky better. In New York. Yeah. I love it that it's in Tribeca right on that corner and you can order a takeout.
Starting point is 00:28:06 It's the best. Thank you, Cique, for sponsoring tonight's. episode. Summer is coming to a close, which means the warm weather is also about to leave us. Starting point is 00:29:39 This episode of Therapeutus is brought to you by booking.com. I was going through my camera roll the other day because summer is ending and I'm trying to plan like fall trips. And I was looking at like Coachella and all these fun things I did. And it made me like really want to plan another friend trip. And friend trips are impossible to plan because everybody has different standards of what they want in their stay. Like they want a bath, if they want a shower, if they want walking distance. And the best place to put all those in and find one place that everyone's happening. with is on booking.com. It'll show you hotel rooms. It'll show you rentals. But right now we are
Starting point is 00:30:14 trying to plan new years. So I've been using booking.com to try to find a place for all of us to be at. Because at the end of the day, if you have a roof over your head, the trip will just plan itself essentially. You can do whatever you want as long as you know that you have somewhere to sleep at night. And Labor Day is coming up. And I know everyone is scrambling to make Labor Day plans. And booking.com is the best place to make those plans. Booking.com will make sure everybody is happy with where they are staying. Go on, book that trip. It's easy.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Booking.com, booking dot, yeah! Thank you again, booking.com for sponsoring tonight's episode. It was in that same breath that I also somehow discovered that Moses and Jesus were not the same person. Not the same person. No. In my defense, I thought, like, Jesus was a nickname for Moses. That's weird because the nickname usually doesn't take as long to say as, but they're the exact same. Cyllables.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Number of syllables, yeah. Uh-huh, yeah. Did you go to college? I went to theater school. What school did you go to? Post-high school. The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. So you went to like a proper theater school?
Starting point is 00:31:20 A proper theater school. Like it was like going to like Juilliard or like not even? Maybe less prestigious than Juilliard, but same idea. It's like an acting academy where you're like taking dance and voice and speech and singing and acting and acting. and acting, and you do that for the academy was two years. And I got straight A's for the first time, and I loved it so much, you know? You know, when you go somewhere and you're like,
Starting point is 00:31:51 oh, my God, all these people are just as into this as I am. Uh-huh. Like, I can talk about, you know, movies or actors or whatever with all these people. That's how I feel with my best friends. There's no other people that like to talk shit more than my... best friends. Yeah, it's the best. I can't picture you gossiping. You can't picture me gossiping? I'm not a big gossip. Yeah, you're not. You don't see met. No, not that I don't enjoy it, but I feel guilty if there's too much gossip happening. But I could see you at like a dinner party,
Starting point is 00:32:26 someone saying something, and then you going, well, that's what I could see you doing. Sure. Like, well, and like laughing to yourself and then someone going, Adam, what? And you go in, no, I can't. I can't. And then you go in, it's just funny that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's the type of gossip. Sure.
Starting point is 00:32:47 That's how I'd get you. Sure. Sure. Yeah. Yeah, that's, I can do that. I just feel like, if it gets, I just feel so badly if I start feeling gross. If I, if I'm engaging too much in, in gossip, not to say it's not fun. No, I'm filthy.
Starting point is 00:33:05 then. When's your birthday? April 3rd. Are you in Ares? Uh-huh. Wow. When's yours? October 27th.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Oh, you're a Libra? Scorpio. It's what I meant. Uh-huh. What's Naomi? August 10th. Leo. Leo.
Starting point is 00:33:24 So she brings up. No, August 10th is. Yeah, yeah, it is. Because my son is October 7th. My daughter is October 17th. So they're both Libra. Oh, but she's right on the cusp of Scorpio. That's right.
Starting point is 00:33:39 That's right. Oh, wow, October babies. Yep. How'd you and your wife mate? We met at a bar in Hollywood called The Cat and the Fiddle. It's not there anymore, but it's, it was this awesome bar. We met in 1998. I know.
Starting point is 00:34:03 I know. Wait. Oh, my God. But you guys have been together like forever. 28 years. You did the math on that. Really? Oh, you're 20.
Starting point is 00:34:13 You were born in 1998. I wasn't even born yet. Can I answer this, sir? Yeah. Hey, honey. Yeah, someone's going to come get you. She is so excited. I love how, I feel like you're a really good person.
Starting point is 00:34:30 You sound shocked. Well, no, it's not that I'm shocked. It's just like, you're like, I feel gross if I talk shit. Yeah, you've been with, you really haven't let Hollywood jade, like, you've not really jaded by it at all. Like, well, I am. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:34:45 It couldn't be me. It could not be me. Well, um. So you've been with, you met at the cat and the fiddle. The cat in the fiddle, which was like this bar where there's a whole outdoor area, um, and a big fountain. So you just smoke. Everyone just went, went there because you could smoke.
Starting point is 00:35:03 And, um, And yeah, I met her there. And I was doing a play. So I was like, I want to meet her. And my friend was like, oh, wait, I know her friend. They were both Brits. So we went over to them. They introduced me to her.
Starting point is 00:35:19 She's like, nice to meet you. I'm leaving. And she left. But then they came to our play that we were doing. That's what happened. They came to our play we were doing, like the next week. And then at the party after the play, we talked. because it was closing night.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Anyway, speaking of boring. When were you born? 1999. I was locked in with you. You were born a year after I met my wife. Uh-huh. What was it like working with goats? It was interesting for like a little while and then it was just like these animals are here.
Starting point is 00:35:59 It was a lot of goats. Like a lot of goats. Yeah. They're like eating people's shoelaces and stuff. And so it's like, oh, this is cool. And then after a little while, it's like, all right, we got to just finish this. Finish the goats. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Well, not like, you know, finish their storyline. Yeah, not like. What was their story? What was their storyline? I never understood the goats. They're very sweet animals, actually. No, I understand goats. In severance.
Starting point is 00:36:28 They have white fur, usually. Um, you're not alone. A lot of people are still asking about the goats and we're all like, we kind of thought we explained it. I didn't catch it. Yeah. I don't want to explain it because it all, I don't want it to be sort of dissected. Okay. I understand what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:36:52 Sometimes, I got you. Sometimes if I say something about the show, it's no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everyone's like, this is what this. Yeah, I got you. My daughter's in the other room. Hey, girl. Hey, how is it?
Starting point is 00:37:04 school. Frankie tried to get out of going to school today. I hated school. Yeah. Do you ever miss driving her to school? Did you ever drive her to school? Yeah, I did. I used to drive her to the bus stop.
Starting point is 00:37:17 But, and then also school when she went to school over there, it was very, when they're in, like, elementary school, it's very sweet to bring them to school. What music do you remember playing them? In the car. Whatever she was wanting to listen to at the time, which was, you, like, you, like, you, like, You know, what? Taylor Swift, is that usually what it was, Frankie? But you are like, like, to me, Taylor Swift,
Starting point is 00:37:43 I'm like a big Taylor Swift fan. That is you with you too. No? Yeah, but I'm also a big Taylor Swift fan. I love Taylor Swift. What's your favorite Taylor's song? You know what song of hers that I really love? Well, 1989 is a big album for Frankie and I.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Oh. Because that was like, huge and we were super into it together and had like dances for some of those songs that we came up with together but then um i loved the pandemic records yeah those were great uh evermore and evermore's my favorite yeah i mean holy shit evermore is my favorite marjorie is my favorite song on that marjorie and tis the damn season i love invisible string yeah I mean, talk about a classic. Well, you know the Long Pond?
Starting point is 00:38:39 The Long Pond Sessions? Those are my favorites. Oh, really? You love the little Disney Plus special? I love the Disney Plus special, but I also love that version of all of those songs. Oh, yeah. She does exile with Bonnie Vair. Yeah, over Zoom.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Yeah. But also, she's just playing all of, she and Aaron Dresner, and he's there for that one song. but it's just the two of them playing the entire album. Yeah. There's no production, nothing. They're just playing it live. And, you know, that's all available just in it. I love that version.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I love the kind of fully baked version of the album as well, but I love those raw kind of live versions of those songs, too. I love when a live version is, like, released on Spotify. Like, Bonnie Bear just released a whole record of live tracks. Oh, really? Yeah. He did? It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Amazing. Of mostly what? I think it was a lot of 22 to a million. I forget if that's what the album called. That last album? No, Sable. I wish. That last album was real good.
Starting point is 00:39:50 That last album changed my life. Yeah. That little tune change in short story. Yes. Where the whole album switched and lifts upwards, it's unbelievable. But he's not touring it. Oh, really? Yeah, he's like, I don't need to.
Starting point is 00:40:04 You know what, speaking of live, like, raw versions is Lady Gaga did Howard Stern, like 15 years ago or something. Or whenever, what album was Edge of Glory on? Born This Way. Born This Way. When Born This Way came out, which was, like, a while ago, she went on Howard Stern and played Edge of Glory, just her and a piano. She's so talented. you heard that version it like will make you cry just listening to her sing because that song is about believe her grandfather it is about her grandfather that song is I mean you know the song is
Starting point is 00:40:48 terrific but when it's down to it's kind of raw elements like that it's so powerful um whenever she goes and plays kind of just her I think it's incredible anyway yeah I love uh like a stripped back acoustic version of a song. I mean, we used to have, or there used to be, what was it, MTV? Unplugged. Unplugged. Yeah. They kind of have versions of that today.
Starting point is 00:41:13 They have like this new show called like colors, but I don't know if that equates to it. There's tiny desk. Tiny desk is sort of like that. Tiny desk is great. BBC Live Lounge is my favorite because the artists will cover other songs. Uh-huh. So like, I don't know if you know who Audrey Hobart is, but Malcolm Todd. her younger brother who's also a singer
Starting point is 00:41:34 just covered one of her songs Taylor Swift. Oh my God, did she do she did September, right? Did she not do September? I like that song. Yes, she did. 21st night. Yeah, that was at the live lounge.
Starting point is 00:41:48 I would put money on it, actually. I thought the new album was awesome. And I love her too. The Archer is my favorite song in all time. Yeah. And reputation too. Wait. You're a Swifty.
Starting point is 00:42:06 Well, I know. Yeah, yeah. I mean, no, you just bar for barred her albums. Like, you're a Swifty. They're great records, man. Did you see my shrine? Oh, you haven't seen my shrine. No.
Starting point is 00:42:16 I have a shrine in the house. Have you discovered Waxahatchee? Are you into her? What? Are you about to say Gazuntite? Yeah, Waxe hatchie. Yeah, Waxahatchie. You have to listen to Waxe hatchie.
Starting point is 00:42:29 She's the best. You know who I think is. Oh, well, do you listen to the. the country at all? Yeah. Casey? Are you Casey? Musgraves?
Starting point is 00:42:36 Yeah. I don't know. I don't know her. I mean, I think she's great, but I don't know her. I don't know her that well. You're not ready. No, you're actually not ready. I'm not ready.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Because her album, Golden Hour from 2018. Oh, okay. That's the like big breakout. That's the big breakout. No, the big breakout was same trailer different park. And that really broke. Wait. She just put out a record.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Yes. How is that one? Really good. It's called Middle of Nowhere. People describe it as like brat for country. See, if you like Casey Musgraves, you're going to love Waxahatchie. Okay, I'll listen to Waxahatchy. Start with her new record.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Okay. Called Tiger's Blood. Okay. And just go backwards from there. Like, what's the genre? Fokie, bedroom pop, country? Country Rock slash. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:43:32 No, she's sort of, she kind of encompasses a lot. She does. But Tiger's Blood has a lot of like really good, it's like a real guitar record, but not like shredding solos. It's just they're really like lived in guitar rock, some of it. And then some of it is just, it's just really, really,
Starting point is 00:44:00 it feels like an album that's been there for a hundred years. but and all the hooks and melodies all feel like something that's always been playing but it's all brand new it's really really I think one of the great records of the last while oh wow I mean it came out like a year two years ago wax hatchie and I'm still like going back to it yeah yeah it's great yeah I'll wait I'm so excited to listen to it yeah tell me what you think if you listen to it you have to I will but You have to listen to Golden Hours. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:35 The 2018 album. It is brilliant. And why? She wrote the entire album about her ex-husband. And it is like the entire album is like front to back like a love letter. It feels like a love letter to him. And just like she is very into attachment styles. And she used to be, I think she would talk.
Starting point is 00:45:02 She was in a voiding attachment. In a what attachment? Okay, so the album starts with the song called Slow Burn. And it's kind of like she's rapping, but it's country. Okay. Slow Burn is amazing. Space Cowboys the best. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Rainbow is beautiful. Okay. Butterflies. You know, it's hard, because when I was trying to describe the Wax-Achy album to you, it's hard to talk about music and why something is great. I always end up feeling lame when I'm trying to talk, like, Yeah, I just feel like, I'm like, how do I describe how good this is? Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Because then you want to sing it. You're like, I'm not about to sing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But she's some. Do you know how to sing? No, do you? No. She has some slamer lines, though.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Okay, cool. Yeah. Have you been listening to Ella Langley? Mm-mm. Shoes in Texas? Mm-mm. Banger. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:53 You guys listen to Cheez in Texas? What? Oh, you like? I told you a can. Mm-hmm. I told you. I'm a candy guy. I, I heard.
Starting point is 00:46:02 So you're going to like a candy convention. Sweets and snacks. When you're there, it's going to be like a whole event. It's going to be just like we're going to be. We have sweatshirts made that say. Is that what all those sweatshirts are out there? No, but those are for you. All of them?
Starting point is 00:46:14 Uh-huh. Thanks. You could take all of them. What if I did? I would say Adam Scott took all my hood is. Do you want to do the tummy what's wrongs? Oh, great. And I feel like you give good advice.
Starting point is 00:46:26 We'll see. We will. I mean, I am a dad. It's part of my job. What do you love giving advice as a father? I mean, it depends. It depends what the issue is, I guess. What's the most mad you've ever been at your kids?
Starting point is 00:46:43 I remember when Frankie was like 11. She was like 11, and we discovered that she had more than one secret social media. She wasn't allowed to have social media. Oh, and she had like an entire network of social media. Yeah. Girl boss. She had it going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:04 And it wasn't Instagram yet. It was Facebook? Musically. Oh, man, I feel old. I never even had it musically. Really? It was never my thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Do you know what musically is? I think I remember what it was. Yeah. It was like videos of like, like. Yes. But, and then everyone's like lip syncing to things. There's a very famous now video of baby Ariel. And she was a very famous musically star.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Okay. She did musically dance to fire when the strobe hits you. Yeah. And she was on the news and she would go. You go. Okay. So that's what she was doing. Yeah, that's the sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Do you remember baby Ariel? A four. Your daughter is fucking funny. Yeah. Were you like 11 when that happened, Frankie? Okay. Oh, yeah, well, I, you know, the reason people call me Jake Shane is because when I first made my Facebook when I was in seventh grade, my mom wouldn't let me use my last name, which is Roscoe. Roscoe?
Starting point is 00:48:13 Yeah, were you about to ask if I'm Jewish? Because the answer is yes. Very much so. And my middle name is Shane after in my dad would tell me he was after some like alcoholic baseball player. I don't really know. And so my mom made me use Jake Shane and it just kind of stuck. Jake Shane, the name is very sticky because it sounds like the name of either a professional baseball player or like an ex football player who's now an action movie star. Like Vince Vaughn.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Yeah. Was Vince Vaughn a football player? I know. I just made it up. No, no, no. But it's like two syllables total. Well, it's two first names. Yes. Like, I guess my name's sort of two first names, but Jake Shane feels more rugged than my name. Do you know what I mean? Scott, Jake Shane.
Starting point is 00:49:12 Jake Shane. Ooh. It's Jake Shane. He's going to kick your fucking ass. He's unstoppable that Jake Shane. Yeah. Have you heard about Jake Shane? Dude, Jake Shane is like, you need to watch out, man.
Starting point is 00:49:29 I heard he runs like a tight ship over there. He runs a tight ship and he just, he's, he's got, he's got so much cocaine. That's weird that you heard that about him. You heard that about him? See, I heard that about it. Maybe it's not true. Yeah, you know, I actually, I heard that too weirdly, but I don't think it's true. I don't think it's true.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Anyway, he will kick your ass. Yeah, no, Jake Shane's awesome. And he has like this podcast. Yeah. Have you ever been on it? And he makes candy. Well, he doesn't make candy. He makes candy in his, like, guest house.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Would you ever think of going on his podcast, Jake Chains? Yeah, maybe. You know, I used to make candy. I worked at a candy shop at an amusement park, and I made saltwater taffy. Wow, that sounds fun, honestly. I heard you also worked at Johnny Rockets. Yeah, for one day. And then you found out they made you sing?
Starting point is 00:50:27 Yeah, and I left. That's okay. Yeah, or no, I didn't leave because I'm not rude, but I just didn't come back the next day, which is rude. So you left. I left, yeah. But, you know, you rewrote that narrative beautifully just now. Thank you. Thank you, Amazon Prime for sponsoring today's episode.
Starting point is 00:50:46 If you are 18 to 24 years old, I am insanely jealous of you not because of your youth, but because you are eligible for Prime for young adults. I've never been so sad to be 26, not just because I'm closer to 30, but because Prime for young adults. is basically your own prime membership, not your parents, yours. And prime for young adults is half the price of regular prime, which is 7.49 a month. And you also get 5% cash back on eligible purchases. So if you're just restocking usual hair stuff or you're treating yourself to something fun, you get 5% cash back. No codes, no clipping coupons.
Starting point is 00:51:17 It just shows up in your account ready to use for your next purchase. It's like finally having your own place, but for prime. I'm so jealous that this exists now because when I was in college, when I was like 18, I was using my parents' prime account for everything. and they were monitoring every purchase. It felt like I was constantly being watched. So I'm so jealous that Prime for Young Adults exists now because I wish I had that my own autonomy back then.
Starting point is 00:51:38 But you guys don't need to use your parents' account anymore. You deserve to buy yourself any necessities and a little treat here and there without anyone else's judgment. Prime for young adults. 5% cash back, 100% yours. Prime for young adults is only available for people 18 to 24 years old. Terms supply. Thank you, Prime, for sponsoring tonight's episode.
Starting point is 00:51:56 So what is this? It's we're helping, uh, All right. We're helping the world. Okay. I'm a type A girl in a world of type B's. All my friends are constantly running late, very unreliable and disorganized to the point it starts affecting my life and my busy schedule. I want them to change so badly, but I know that that's impossible to ask of someone.
Starting point is 00:52:15 I love them too, but it's very upsetting and they do not care at all. I'm really sorry, but you may have to read that again. I just spaced out. Do you want to read it? Yeah. By the way, that happens to every single guest. Frankie, you know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Frankie's shoes. Oh my God. Oh, God, not your chic-ass glasses. Okay. This is more of just a brag about being organized. I kind of see.
Starting point is 00:52:49 I agree. That's all that is. It's like, well, your friends aren't, like my best friend Cassidy is type B and I'm type A. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:56 It's not my problem. She's basically saying, like, I'm better than all my friends and I'm not sure how to tell them. Yeah. Like a lot of my friends are type B. A lot of my friends.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Sure. And it doesn't affect me. I'll just scream. Yeah. You're fine. Like if I'm, or you just say like, I'm leaving.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Like if you're late to somewhere, like I'm leaving, you can stay. Yeah. You're fine. It doesn't matter. That's part of like, oh,
Starting point is 00:53:23 thanks. That's part of getting a little older as you realize that none of that stuff really matters that much. So funny. Bring that up because my frontal lobe just developed. Oh,
Starting point is 00:53:33 how's it feel? Fucking awesome. Yeah, it looks good. It looks like it's all together. Yeah, it's my third eye. Oh, good. I feel it.
Starting point is 00:53:41 I, every time, like, I was in, I was freaking out today about this, like, I wanted to,
Starting point is 00:53:46 like, I, like, I was always a collector as a kid. Like, always, like, collected, like, Pokemon cards or whatever.
Starting point is 00:53:53 And so I was obsessing over this thing that I wanted to buy today. And then I was like, wait, oh my God, I'm obsessing over it because I have OCD. And I, like,
Starting point is 00:54:01 connected the dots But I knew I always had OCD, but I never, like, caught it in live action. Yeah. And I caught it. I was like, gotcha. Oh, good for you. Thank you. Wait, how old are you when the frontal lobe finally, like, takes shape?
Starting point is 00:54:14 I think 30. Are you 30? It did not. What? 30, Adam. Are you younger than that? You just said my frontal lobe, like, developed today. Like, so I'm.
Starting point is 00:54:30 You did lead him there. What happened? I'm 26. Oh, okay. Well, at your age, whether it be 26 to like 32, there's no insulting any, like, thinking you're anywhere from 25 to 32 is all a compliment, all of it, because it's all the same age, essentially. You feel that way?
Starting point is 00:54:57 Well, I feel that way now because I'm 53. It is crazy. You look really young. Thanks. good for you. I hope I, I, just like you. Thank you. You're welcome.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Me and my boyfriend have been together since high school, so we took a break because we thought it'd be healthy now that we're in our mid-20s. We recently got back to, okay, so the boy, so they were together in high school, and then they took a break. We recently got back together, and he told me about all the people he hooked up with within that four months or so. I guess these were the rules, but I didn't even, like, make out with anyone. I'm having a really hard time getting over this.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Oh, you can't move on. Well, yeah, she's... It's over. Yeah. You think it's over? It's over. It's over. Because she'll never get over.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Yeah. Well, it's not his fault. If they were on... She knows that. If they were, you know, she knows that. Yeah, she says... But it's never going to... She's a little bitter about it.
Starting point is 00:55:53 She's a little bitter about it. Unless they take another four months and she goes and does her thing, she'll never get over it. Yeah, but then at that point, it's like forced, you know? Yeah. It's like, I'm only doing this because the guy, my ex-boyfriend did it. Yeah. I think you were just, you've grown apart. Have you ever seen the movie Someone Great?
Starting point is 00:56:11 Nope. You should watch that. Have you ever seen the movies How to Be Single? The. Dakota Johnson. No, I haven't seen that. Neither have I, but you should watch that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Okay. Yeah, I'll get right on that. What's your favorite movie of all time? Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom. Have you ever seen that? Mm-mm. Have you ever seen? sex lies and videotape
Starting point is 00:56:35 you should watch that what's that about it's about four people trying to figure out their lives I'm trying to think of how to say what this is about
Starting point is 00:56:49 you should watch that movie it's from 1989 it's I know it's that's like reaching back I know it's like scary how old that Chills came over me.
Starting point is 00:57:04 Oh, my God. I have a hard time with old movies. But it's not, it's not, it's not going to feel old. I just watched it like a year ago and it felt like it could have been made yesterday. Okay. 1989, it's not like watching a movie from the 30s where everyone's like, yeah, yeah, blah, rah, I mean, I would never watch a movie from the 30s. Okay. So watch a movie from the late 80s.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Like, you've seen Goodfellas, right? Best movie ever. That was shot in 1989. You're lying. No. It came out in 1990. I just watched casino for the first time, too. That was really good.
Starting point is 00:57:43 It took me four times. It's really harsher movie than Goodfellas. But you know what? You know what I love? The ending where he goes, and that's about it. Yeah. I know. Like, okay.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Did you see The Irishman? I tried. Dude, the Irishman is. I heard it's amazing. I think it's his best movie. De Niro? Scorsese. But De Niro's in it.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Yes. It might be. I think it's, I've seen it so many times. I think it might be my favorite of those two. Okay, I'll watch the Irishman. Goodfellas.
Starting point is 00:58:19 I watch when I'd COVID. It's so good. Say that again? I watched Goodfellas when I had COVID. And I was like, oh my God. I'm obsessed with this. I'm using Cape Fear. No.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Dude, you have to watch. Is this another mafia movie? I love that. No. No, but it's those two together. Do you watch Real Housewives? I got, you know what I got really into that I feel like I'm the only one is the new New York. Oh.
Starting point is 00:58:45 I thought you were about to hit me with Rhode Island. And I was about to like go up and do a lot. I haven't been there yet. That's brand new. New York. No one likes it. It's horrendous. But are they done now?
Starting point is 00:58:56 Yes, because it's so bad. Because they were complete strangers and it was obvious. And they literally, do you not remember, they, like, pulled a prank on the audience. You don't remember this? They, like, pulled a prank, they, like, made up a fake storyline and then, like, broke the fourth wall. Do you remember this? It was, like, so big in the Bravo world. And everyone was so angry about it.
Starting point is 00:59:19 I just remember all of them accusing what's her name of doing something. Oh, that was horrible. Horrible. That was horrible. No one likes it. I even was on Andy Cohen's show, and I was like, Hey, the new New York, I'm really enjoying this season. And he was like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:37 So even he couldn't like get behind it. Rhode Island, get into it. That's the new one, right? Oh, it is exceptional television. All right. Do you watch Survivor? So I started this season. And then once Mike got voted off, I gave up.
Starting point is 00:59:53 That was very like soon. Yeah, so after like three or four episodes, I was out. But I was never a survivor guy. I was like an American Idol guy. I was a bad girls club guy. I was an America's next top model guy. Okay. Like, I liked the girly.
Starting point is 01:00:08 I'm going to the finale on Wednesday. Oh, are you a big Survivor guy? I'm a, yes, I love Survivor. Have you ever met Jeff Proops? I know Jeff Proops. Yes. Are you guys buddies? Yes.
Starting point is 01:00:19 He's a rad person. That sounds fun. An old friend is visiting from out of town and is crashing on my couch. We had a fun weekend, but apparently he had, apparently, a ferret. We had a fun weekend, but apparently he has no return flight. I work on weekdays and I just don't want to host while stressed, et cetera. I also don't want to kick him out. So how do I really hint at the fact he's overstained his welcome?
Starting point is 01:00:46 You have to say you must leave. Yeah, you can't hint. Hinting only causes resentment between both of you, don't you think? Yeah. For you because you're like, why are they picking up on my head? And that's exhausting. And for him, because he's going to be like, is she hinting to make me leave? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:02 What an asshole. Just tell me straight up. Yeah. Be for real. But also at the same time, this is all very like 20s coded, I think. Like at a particular point, you just have to be like, like, if you're going to come stay with a friend, you should not stay for more than two nights unless you are very upfront. Like, I need to stay with you for two weeks or whatever.
Starting point is 01:01:25 Like, you don't just come and start. staying with somebody. Right. I've been housing my friends for a week now. How's that going? Well, the house is a bit of a mess, but, you know, it's really, it's been nice because it makes, it feels like college again. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:40 I come home, they're there. It depends who it is and what your relationship is. Yeah, but we, sounds like this is fine. I realize that guy friendships aren't really like that. I was never great with when I, when I, when I, I had roommates and it was never my face, as soon as I could. I lived by myself.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Okay. You know. I can't live alone. I lived alone the first two years of college, not paramed me. Freshman year of college, you lived by yourself. Mm-hmm. In a single dorm. A single dorm.
Starting point is 01:02:09 And it was lonely. Disgusting. Yeah. I washed my sheets twice. Yeah. Over the entire year. Yeah. Twice.
Starting point is 01:02:20 I didn't know how to do it. And then I couldn't. I'm so short. I couldn't put it back on. So I was like, I can't do this bullshit. washing sheets until you're like in your early 30s it's just impossible like how do you do this I don't yeah I don't I do now if if there are sheets on the bed longer than like you know yeah five days or something it grosses me out but then I started living with a friend my junior
Starting point is 01:02:45 and senior year and then I always lived with people ever since then and now I live here with friends yeah well that's great yeah to each their own so you should tell your friend to leave and if you need help you should watch real housewives because they are very confrontational. Do you ever watch Jersey Shore? No, I never, I mean, I was, I, when it was a huge thing. Didn't you parody it? Jersey Shore. Am I like making shit up?
Starting point is 01:03:09 Oh, no, I was on the Bachelor parody, the, yes, yes you were. Ken Marino and. Yes. Erica Oyama. How, memory unlocked for me. Who else kind of wrote that and did that? I love Jersey Shore. What was it called the Bachelor?
Starting point is 01:03:28 I know what you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know what a situation ship is? I believe so. It's just like a, you're just hooking up. It's not really a relationship. Okay, period. My two situationships have found out about each other recently obsessed,
Starting point is 01:03:46 and now they're both asking. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. It gets a little dirty. You don't care? Why? Because Frankie I don't care. She doesn't care. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:03 Here we go, Adam. All right. My two situation ships have found out about each other recently, and now they're both asking me for a three-way, my dream date. I've had some suspicions in the past that they both might have previously hooked up with other guys, but now I have a theory that they just want to hook up with each other. Should I do it for the plot, or am I inviting trouble? obviously do it for the plot.
Starting point is 01:04:27 Everything I do is for a story. Uh-huh. If I was seeing two different men and they were like, let's all hang out, hello, date and time. I can't do it. That sounds amazing. And then if it works out poorly, just be so depressed for a week. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:46 And be like, I'm depressed for the week. But then you have the experience. Mm-hmm. Unfortunately. So I prescribe doing it. Yeah. Why not? Why not?
Starting point is 01:04:57 Why not? My roommates keep the temperature at 76 degrees. Oh my God, oh my God. I literally my entire body just driveled. And it is so hot every night. If I try to make it colder, they get mad. I open my windows and don't sleep under my cuff. Why the fuck would you do that?
Starting point is 01:05:14 Oh my God, that sounds like hell. But nothing helps. It is so fucking hot. I live with four girls and they all three agree on it. So I'm outnumbered. Oh, 76 degrees. What do you sleep at? Cold sleeper?
Starting point is 01:05:24 If, if I had my, way, I would be at max 68 degrees. I knew we'd get along. I love it freezing cold. Me too. I 62. Yep. With a fan by my side.
Starting point is 01:05:39 I would love it so much. 62 fan by my side and on an eight sleep on a negative time. It depends. Like if it's summertime, 68 doesn't feel cool enough. 16 is never cool enough. And you work in the winter, I open my windows. Oh, I love it. I love, I hate New York in the winter when it's like too hot inside everywhere because radiators are going.
Starting point is 01:06:01 Disgusting. I like having some breeze in there. Mm-hmm. I love it freezing. I don't know why. Why are you like that? I don't know. What do you think?
Starting point is 01:06:08 Maybe we're anxious. Are you anxious? Yeah. Everyone else in my house likes a little warmer. I can't. I can't do it. When I walk into a house, I'm going to my friend's house after this. It's so hot.
Starting point is 01:06:20 I already know I'm going to be so hot. I'm stressed so stressed out about it. Especially if it's stuffy and there's no air. That's even worse. And you're like choking on your breath. It's disgusting. Yeah. So I can barely do a sauna.
Starting point is 01:06:30 But lately I've been obsessed with sauna. Yeah. Because I was told it helps you lose water weight, which I didn't know existed. Well, of course it does. I did not know that. I thought you just beat it out. Do you have a sauna here? I do.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Yeah. Do you use it all the time? Recently have been. Yeah. Is it one of those circle ones? What? Those ones that are like a circle. No, but I want one now.
Starting point is 01:06:53 Yeah. I think you're talking about the same thing. Oh. Okay. Mine is a rectangle, so. Well, it's like a little pod. But it's not a circle. Is it not? It's a rectangle.
Starting point is 01:07:03 So, I met this cute guy at the gym. Those are different shapes. I met this cute guy at the gym and we ended up hitting it off. We've been on two dates so far and each one has been amazing. I was showing my friend his Insta and she told me she actually talked to him on Hinge and he ghosted her. She feels weird about me seeing him, which is understandable, but I finally have a good thing going here. Am I a bad friend for seeing him behind her back? Yes, you need to tell her,
Starting point is 01:07:29 but she's a bad friend for ruining that for you. I got lost during that one. You got this. What do you think? Again, who cares? Like, just do whatever you want. Right? I see.
Starting point is 01:07:46 I like that. And that's it. Those were pretty good. I like all the octopi in here. I feel like we really got close throughout this entire experience. I know, and by the way, I know you're a bad liar, so I know you, I know you mean it. I do.
Starting point is 01:08:01 How do you know I'm a bad liar? I can tell. Oh, all right. I feel like you don't like to gossip, so you don't like to lie. I don't love it, no. You really don't like to gossip? Ever. You don't want to sit down once and just rip it?
Starting point is 01:08:18 Sure. But, you know, I do always end up. feeling a little skeezy afterwards. Frankie, do you like to gossip? Yeah. I die for her. She's awesome. She's the best.
Starting point is 01:08:37 Well, Adam, what did we learn today? I mean, I learned a lot. Me too. A lot. I learned that there are good people left in the world, and I'm sitting with one of them. I think I learned that this is my new favorite podcast. No, you didn't.
Starting point is 01:08:52 I think I did. Wait, you really have that much? fun. I could tell. At one point, I was like, wait, he's having fun. Oh, totally. I was like, wait, he's having fun. Totally. Well, you know, I have a meeting with your lovely wife coming up soon. Oh, yeah, you do. Yeah. Are you coming to our office? I hope so. I think so. Great. Yeah. Awesome. So we get to hang out again. Yeah. Love it. This was like the pre-meeting meeting. Love it. Bye, Pussies.
