The goal has to be to sound like a better version of yourself.
What happens when we create power points?
All of a sudden, we lose our sense of story.
It's all about bullet points.
Hi, I'm Matt Abraham's host of Think Fast Talk Smart, the podcast,
dedicated to helping you hone and develop your communication skills.
I would recommend asking, do you need support or advice right now?
And you'd be surprised the number of times people say, I actually know what I need to do.
I just want someone to commiserate with.
Rather than talking about yourself as hardworking, talk about yourself as a hard worker.
Rather than talking about yourself as creative, you're a creator.
Rather than being innovative, you're an innovator.
How do you think about the world differently than how I think about the world?
That's when we're both collectively going to be better off.
There's no difference between the physiological response to something that you're excited about
and something that you're nervous about or that you're dreading.
It's a dialogue, not a monologue.
How I respond to you makes you feel like I listened,
or it makes you feel I didn't.
Leadership is about asking the right questions, not having the right answer.
The purpose of the speech is to galvanize action.
You want them to do something.
