and welcome to this car pod.
I'm Felipe.
I'm Nick.
I'm Doug.
I'm back in person, and it's time for the pod.
There's lots of news to cover.
Let's start with the gullhole.
Goes like hell.
GLH.
Dodge is apparently going to come out with a hot hatchback.
This is from car and driver.
This rendering looks like a Kia Soul,
but I imagine the car will actually not look like this.
But Nick, a hot hatchback from Dodge.
The A caliber SRT-4 is back.
The caliber SRT-4 is back.
The Cal for SRT4 is back.
Always thought that was cool.
Us Americans have always had trouble.
Our Focus RS.
People have given us great hot hatches,
and we've never really fully appreciated.
Felipe, sometimes impulse purchases a GTI.
That's true.
But other than that,
Americans have not really,
and you're questionable on your American...
Can I throw some cold water and all this?
No.
So we know from the Investor Day back in May
that they were going to make a GLH thing, right?
But in additional interviews,
Tim Kineskas, who's in charge of Silantis,
has says that it will actually be based on the next generation Hornet,
and it's what the Hornet should have been from the get-go,
which is their small SUV.
Yeah, but small crossover SUV.
And so, yes, it'll be a hot hatch.
In the same way that, like, a GLA 35 AMG is a hot hatch.
And it is?
Yeah.
It'll be a little crossover-y hot hatch.
And I want kind of crappy, too.
Like, I don't want a Mercedes.
Dodge is good at giving us much like all the Hellcats, like cheap power.
And bad.
Can you pull up?
Fast and bad.
Can you pull up?
Gimmy, gimme.
Carsandbids.com.
That's the website here.
Go to caliber SRT4.
I'm sure we've sold one.
I hope we've sold one.
There's a one.
Go to this interior.
This is one of the great bad interiors in automotive history.
And so obviously we love it.
Keep going because it's the center stack that really sells the whole thing.
I mean, this is just nothing in this interior is done well.
Nothing.
But the seeds are heavily buzzards.
Look at this.
But you're not buying it for the interior, you know?
You are absolutely not.
You're buying it.
because it rocks.
Yep.
Yep.
This will be likely on the same platform as the airflow and everything else that Chrysler will come out with,
which is their general all-purpose.
It could have gas engines.
It can have electric.
It can be their new platform for everything.
You pumped?
I am.
I think it's really cool.
I am,
I for one,
am so excited about this onslaught of Chrysler products that we've now been hearing about for like 18 months,
but none of them have come out yet.
Yep.
But I'm pumped.
I'm ready for them.
Let's go.
Let's get some gas engines.
Let's get some V8s.
Let's get some Kia Soul turbo.
I actually think that.
That looks really nice.
Like, I would be thrilled if that's how it ends up looking, but to each their own.
Just for clarity, I do think they base the rendering on a Fiat Grande Panda.
But you agree, it looks like a keyer.
Yeah, yeah, as a result of the rear, but it's also the Granda Panda.
It's a Kia Soul with a track hawk from end.
Which, honestly, yeah.
And he's got a wide body, dude.
A lot of cool Chrysers coming.
It's like a G.R. Yaris.
Can't wait to check them all out.
That Rumblebee thing is sort of the beginning.
And they've been trickling out as well as the copperhead concept.
So far, they've been trickling out versions.
We want models.
They got a lot of new cars to come out with, and so we'll see more and more.
I agree with you, but I think at this state in Stalantis' life, we can't be picky.
We can't be picky.
The fact that they're doing anything, God bless them.
Yep.
So true.
Next news story is another biggie.
Speaking of Stalantis, the new Mitsubishi Montero.
Can you try that transition more clearly?
Companies that are bad.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay. Companies on life support.
Companies that are in trouble.
Not bad. Not bad.
Companies were surprised, they're still developing new vehicles.
The new Mitsubishi Montero is reportedly coming out.
They're going to announce it in the next few days.
By the time you watch this podcast, May I be live.
I only bring this up.
September 2nd.
I only bring this up as a thing.
Yeah, but it's going to leak. It's Mitsubishi.
But this goes to what I wanted to say.
It may not leak because no one, no automotive journalist has the contact information for anybody.
I have a list on my computer, like a list.
living document of all the PR people that I work with and all the automakers, and there is only
one hole. I have never heard from Mitsubishi. I have never attempted to contact Mitsubishi.
To my knowledge, Mitsubishi has never attempted to contact me. There's never been a purpose
or a reason for this. When you had your Mirage review, which was about the most PR Mississippi
has ever done. That was a Turro at the San Francisco airport.
I didn't like text you after that. No, never heard a thing. And so I'm actually, obviously,
I'd be excited. If a new Montero comes out, it's going to be a big deal to review it.
It's not clear it's coming to the U.S., by the way.
So the Montero has existed.
In some global markets, Mitsubishi still has a brand presence.
And the Montero is certainly aimed at those.
They have not confirmed because they have no PR people or people, whether it's coming to the U.S.
Well, at the very least, they camo wrapped the wheels.
Yeah, that's good sign.
So even if it doesn't come to the U.S., at least we know that they are taking this seriously.
Can we talk about Mitsubishi's newest product as of like a month ago in the U.S.?
Uh, the rogue.
No, the rogue is the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid.
A new mini split unit for your, your workshop.
Uh, no, they, they have a rebadged Nissan Leaf that it's the Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Oh, you're right?
What?
Yeah, I do remember reading about that, yeah.
What?
I actually don't remember it's the full name.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV, which is a leaf.
You're kidding.
Nope.
So there's the Eclipse Sportback, which is an SUV, and the Eclipse Sportback, which is a completely
unrelated hatchback.
You're kidding.
They've had a lot of issues with their dealers being upset, that there's not cars to sell,
that the inventory is it just them throwing a bone and saying, here's a car.
I do car.
Philippo, this is their website.
It says, be the first to know.
If you put your confit info in, you will literally be the first to know.
No one else has signed up.
This is a great opportunity.
I can know it before the rest of the people.
How embarrassing that this brand has turned into a couple of Nissan rebadges.
It was circling the drain.
and now it's like really circling the drain.
They are the Mitsubishi Outlander
is both in a rogue rebadge
and then the rogue is a rebadge of the Outlander.
And so they were the Pioneer.
They were the Pioneer.
Boy, they make a lot of trash
and they have for a long, long, long time.
Nick, what was the last Mitsubishi that you cared about?
I briefly considered buying an Outlander
because it was a plug-in hybrid,
one of four cars in the oddly specific segment.
But what was the last one that you cared about?
DSM Eclipse.
98?
You ever cared about a Mitsubes?
Evo 10.
Evo 10.
You cared about the Evo 10?
I thought it was cool.
I'd rock one.
What was the last Mitsubishi that you cared?
Galant VR for.
In 91?
You didn't care with the 3000 GT?
He wasn't even born then.
The Evo 8?
The Evo 6?
No.
The last gen Montero sold in the U.S. 05?
The current Montero?
I did love that Montero.
Hated the Montero sport.
Yeah.
Well, the original Montero sport was a pretty desirable vehicle.
No.
Well, people bought them.
Two other thoughts here.
One, I'm surprised, it sounds like they're going to keep the Pajero name tag elsewhere and maybe call it the Montero here.
I would just go Pajero across the board.
Maybe that's the enthusiast point of view.
There's some translation issues.
We discovered when this all happened 30 years ago that there is an inappropriate slang term in Spanish-speaking countries.
Oh.
Supposedly.
Now, some of these things, who knows?
Mitsubishi is one of those companies that loves renaming cars.
different markets thinking that it's going to have some small effect.
And of course it doesn't and it just ends up costing the money.
But we'll see.
I would just love to have it here.
Another body on frame SUV, I would love to have it here.
The exterior, by the way, Nissan and Mitsubishi.
Oh my God, you think they're going to twin the exterior and the Montero?
I'm not saying that it's not possible.
Wow.
I never thought about that.
This is bad.
Why wouldn't they?
Let's make a Mitsubishi version of the GTR.
We'll call it the 4000 GT.
Am I right?
Huh?
You could do that.
Call it the 3,500 GT.
No, no, no, you've got to go bigger.
All right, next news story, please.
All right.
Canada.
Canada and the U.S. are currently in a trade war.
Yeah.
Donald Trump and Dan Cardi, the Canadian Prime Minister, are fighting.
There have been threats to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America.
Oh.
That is not a joke.
That is a thing that may happen.
Why'd they choose Ontario?
Because it's a Canadian city.
It's more in Canada than?
And so I think it, like, really sticks it to them.
Superior is the big.
biggest one. Yeah, but Superior already says superior. Ontario is the name also of a Canadian
City. Oh, I get your point. I get your point. It's literally called Ontario. Yeah, okay.
So it may become Lake America. But there's a lot of tariffs that will, in both directions,
that will go into effect in January 1st unless there is a deal. That would be 50% on automobiles.
Automakers, many of whom have historically built cars and parts in Canada for imports of the U.S.,
because we've been under a free trade agreement
for the last many decades
are quite upset about this,
because that is the same treatment
that gasoline-powered vehicles made in China
was coming to the U.S.
And so we could be a situation where for decades,
the U.S. has heavily incentivized
people to bring manufacture to Canada, Mexico,
or the U.S., kind of equally,
now saying no, if it's built in Canada, 50%.
And this impacts, like, the Ravre 4, CRV, Silverado.
More vehicles in U.S.
App Series.
Something like 20% of Silberatoes are built in Canada,
Nissan and Honda are the largest builders in Canada, but most for the U.S. market.
It would have a large impact.
Right now where I think at 25%, which is more than a European tariff, by the way, 25%,
but you can subtract the value of things that are made in the U.S., like parts that are made in the U.S.,
but this would be a huge, huge tariff bill for manufacturer.
Nick, can I ask you the obvious question?
In what way is this making America great again, since you, obviously, you understand?
People at Car Week were asking me, what's a real political belief?
And what is it, Nick?
I am generally a fan of free trade, and I don't see the end game here.
I mean, maybe this is another one of those, let's just make threats.
So then I throw out a low ball offer on Facebook marketplace,
so then someone lowers their price.
This is his equivalent of like a low ball to bring them down.
Maybe that's the strategy.
but yeah, I think for the average buyer of a RAB4 or F-150 or Silverado, like, this is not good.
Tariffs, as always, just make things more expensive.
They hurt our American industries and damaged relations with neighbors with whom we have been, you know,
working very closely in a positive way for a long time.
It's stupid.
It's not as stupid as capitalizing the word strong in this sentence.
Especially because in French, which you can apply to your things in French generally, but it's not
capitalized there. So it's not like a slogan.
The interesting part, I suspect
that the betting money is
on these not going to effect. There's a lot of
time between now and that and large chance to make a deal
because there's also... The polymarket's going to be interesting on this
really impacts Canada. A lot of people getting rich.
Canada can't really maintain that kind of tariff
against U.S. goods, really.
Don't you feel like, I mean, they took Polestar
from us, fine?
You can't start to take the Canadian
vehicles from us. Oh, I thought you were trying.
Canada took Polestar from us. No, the government. The government
took Polestar from us. Now we're going to
We're going to lose some of these vehicles.
Yeah.
It is surprising.
The government's going to mandate that we drive Dodge Hornets.
I mean, what's the next step?
By the way, the town and country historically in the Pacific I've been built in Canada.
This is the party of limited government making these decisions.
It is weird to treat what used to be your best friend as equivalently to what in the theory is an enemy.
Completely silly.
Terrible for the auto industry, terrible for the consumer.
There's this objective.
There's no like subjective conversations here.
The debt is getting out of control.
I think the Trump administration's goal is.
to try to eliminate or reduce the debt without raising taxes.
And they think that tariffs are a way to do it,
but they've gotten into these pickles with these countries,
and it's just not good for anybody.
It also feels a little more personal than sheer governance.
It's just, yeah, that's right.
We'll see how it all shakes down.
It's definitely going to be interesting for the auto industry
and everybody else if it shakes down poorly.
It'll hurt Felipe, too, because he vacations in Nova Scotia.
Well, I've been to Canada twice.
Where are you been?
I've been to Toronto, and I've been.
to Montreal. I love Toronto.
You've never been to Vancouver, Western Canada? No.
Oh, you're kidding. Never been.
Never been. Oh. You never been to Whitehorse?
No. Hey, if you're watching from Whitehorse, send us a note.
Sean at C-E-A-N at Cars and Bids.com. But we don't believe that you're in Whitehorse
unless you take a picture outside your house.
With the local newspaper.
The local newspaper.
The Whitehorse Monthly. Yes.
Tell us what kind of a deal you can get on an F-150 domestically.
I'll tell you the comparable spec here.
What do you got up in Whitehorse for cars?
I bought a new Kia this year, and I handled it like an amateur.
Y'all heard the story on a previous pod,
and I'm still a little embarrassed about it and kicking myself.
That is where Masterclass has come in and made me a better person.
Here's what I've learned since from Chris Voss,
the FBI hostage negotiator,
and his class on Masterclass, silence is the tool.
The person who fills it is the person who's negotiating against himself.
That was me.
That was 100% me.
That's a lesson out of 200 plus classes on MasterC,
Masterclass across business, writing, wellness, and more taught by people who actually define their fields.
$10 a month build annually.
Masterclass keeps adding new classes, so there's never been a better time to get in.
Right now, as a listener of the show, you get at least 15% off any annual membership at masterclass.com
slash carpod.
That's 15% off at masterclass.com slash carpod.
Headed to masterclass.com slash carpod to see the latest offer.
I am incredibly excited to announce that cars and bids is officially partnering with STEC.
If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with the details of the cars we list,
and that includes keeping them protected with the best products available.
I actually trust STEC for my own garage.
My Porsche Carrera GT is currently having its old paint protection film updated with STECPF
from the professionals at Elite Finish, a black label installer here in San Diego.
The difference in quality is massive.
Their Dino Shield technology is remarkably clear.
and it features self-healing properties that keep the car looking fresh even after a long drive.
They also offer fashion films that allow you to change your car's color
or add a carbon fiber look without sacrificing protection.
To celebrate this partnership, we have two big deals for you.
First, if you submit a car to cars and bids with proof of a certified Steck insulation,
will give you 50% off your professional auction photos.
On top of that, Steck is giving our community 10% off a film install,
with any authorized retailer.
Just head over to Stack-USA.com
slash Cars and Bids to find a shop near you
and mention code Cars and Bids
when you connect with them.
I'm thrilled to bring this to you guys
and I can't wait to see
those protected cars hitting the auction block.
All right, give us our next.
Oh, this thing.
I am so pumped on this.
The GV-90.
Hyundai slash Genesis is coming out swinging.
So you got the GLS, MyBock,
you got all these cool luxury SUVs.
I feel like Genesis is done.
done a good job on styling, but this is their, they're really going for it here.
It's obviously not all of them are going to have this level of ridiculousness, but the coach doors,
suicide doors, as we like to call them, uh, in there, it has executive more.
You get, you get blocked on social media for saying it.
Are these, Filippo, is this an EV only? Uh, yeah. It's EV only. So in order to get coached
doors, I can't even get a plug-in hybrid like I so desperately want.
Correct, EV only.
To the point where I've narrowed down my vehicle choices to three cars, one of which is a
You might change your mind for an EV-only four-seater.
Yeah, but it says swiveling front seats, a refrigerator, privacy blinds, and heated real wood flooring.
It is crazy.
So there's two versions of the GV-90.
There's a regular version that has six or seven seats.
I think it's six seats.
Normal doors.
It's like a large luxury EVSGV.
Like larger than an EQS but competing with that.
And then there's the NeoLun edition, which has these coach doors, which they're incredibly proud of it.
Is that the politically correct term now?
Is coach doors?
I think rear-hinged doors.
Rear-hinged doors.
They're very part of the fact that you can open the rear
without opening the front first.
Without there being a B-pillar?
Because the B-pillar doesn't exist here.
And like a Rolls-Roy-Colon in, you can open both, but there's a B-pillar.
There's the first B-pillar-less one where you can open the rear independently.
Apparently.
They're very proud of that.
They're also very proud of their airbag that covers the entire sunroof.
Yeah, I mean, this thing looks pretty legit.
Nick.
If they undercut them, the My Box.
or range rovers or even are comparable in price.
They will.
They'll undercut the ball and.
I understand that you're very excited about this car.
You were excited even off camera before we started.
Do you know who is supervising the design department over there these days?
Luke Vanderdorke?
Yeah.
It's not Vanderdorke.
It's Luke Dunker Volk.
But he's the guy who did Mercy.
I could tell.
I didn't even read the story.
I could just tell.
It had those vibes.
It is a cool.
The interior, by the way, is...
Quite, so you can't have the front seats in the Neolan Edition, like electronically moved backwards.
Is this the, is this the gear shift?
Yeah, that's the gear shift.
It's happy to see you.
It's quite, the screen.
Yeah, well, what are you going to do?
You're kind of shifted in the gear, you know what I mean?
Like, the gestures, that's a lot.
I don't want to be part of this.
The screen is quite large, but does also retract a little bit, so you can have, like, a half screen.
Yeah.
Then it can go to full.
That screen looks like the, the, if you bought the Best Buy Store brand TVs, you know,
Like, that's the interface.
It's very, this car's exciting.
GV, you know, Genesis is really trying to go after luxury brands.
One of the things I've realized is that the really high-end luxury SUVs for each brand
is sort of their opportunity to do something.
It used to be like maybe a sports car or maybe a sedan,
but now it's like the full-size range rover, the Lincoln Navigator,
which has a screen that's 10 times larger than even this.
Yeah, across the front.
Like, that's their opportunity to like really go crazy.
And this is, this is Genesis.
It's the same reason.
all throughout the 90s and 2000,
you wanted to come out with your flagship model.
It was a large luxury sedan that had all the latest tech.
And now that's the SUVs.
But it also gives them these like ability to create,
I think, cooler designs
because SUVs lend themselves to some additional.
Yeah, no, I agree.
I think having a larger vehicle
and like you can play with offer capability
or you can play with sort of a chauffeur situation or whatever
and a lot of them are.
I'm pumped for this thing.
It also goes to your theory of now that EVs are kind of ubiquitous
and all the stats are kind of the same.
You need the gimmicks to differentiate.
So we got door gimmicks, we got seating gimmicks, we got swivels, we got wood flooring.
The heating floor is an insane decision.
This car...
I'm so into that.
This car goes on sale in the first half of 27, so it's actually not even all that far away.
It's less than a year from being on sale, six, eight months.
I think the nelon might come later.
Also, these wheels.
Can we just talk about these wheels for a second?
The wheels are...
I love these wheels.
Yeah, but come on.
Dinner plates, man.
These are like bougie dinner plates.
These aren't like rational.
Like, no one's going to get these wheels.
You know what I'm saying?
Can we talk about the general styling,
which has this like smile in the front LED used?
Yeah, I don't love that.
The smile is a bit...
Boy, what an attractive car.
It's beautiful.
I don't think I've seen one that was just sort of like this.
Yeah, just clean.
I mean, aside from that heinous front light treatment,
this is an attractive car.
It kind of gives you a little rangerover vibes
from the rear corridor on this picture.
The rear of the Neel one is a little...
questionable in some way.
Ooh.
Ooh, I love that.
That is bad.
The light strip is great,
but the Nealon specifically
has this like reinforced
rear window situation.
We've been trained, Nick,
to think that
fake wraparound glass
with a floating roof
is the only attractive thing.
And so that's how I feel.
This to me looks like a London taxi.
Yeah.
No.
It looks like there's other,
actually it might not just be the Neulon.
All of them might have this really
thick D pillar,
but it does look better
in darker colors.
Well, it's a pretty,
It's a pretty cool flagship.
It looks great regardless.
They're saying it'll start around $100,000.
I mean, this is a serious, this is a serious vehicle.
But what does a rangerover start at?
120.
Yeah, no, but this is Genesis.
I mean, this is Genesis.
What does the LX570 start at?
What is an Akura start?
An LX570 is at 90.
What does a comparable Akura start?
There is no comparable Akira.
Damn, Accura missed the boat on this.
This are an escalate IQ, which is one...
You're asking me?
Yeah.
Oh, I wouldn't get an escalate IQ if it was the last car available.
Right, and this will be...
80 grand cheaper?
30.
Escalade IQ started 130-ish, 127.
Hey.
But remember, an escalate IQ could eat this car, and you wouldn't even know it.
An escalate IQ could show up in some sort of hungry, hungry hippos situation.
Yeah?
And I could eat this car.
An alternate universe in which you weren't a YouTuber.
Yep.
And you'd just gotten like a job in finance.
I could see you driving one.
An escalate IQ?
Yeah.
If you weren't born with like the car gene.
You know what I'm realizing?
We'd all be there.
We'll never see a comparison test photo that has an escalate IQ and a GV90 on a bridge.
Because no bridge.
No bridge.
You have to support both.
Nick, you might be there.
You know what I mean?
An escalate IQ owner?
You might drive your escalate IQ to Benny Hana.
I do like Benny Hana.
Okay.
Move on.
It's just right.
I can't believe it took me 42 years to understand how good Benny Hana was.
All right.
Pol Star.
Pull Star.
Okay.
Pol Star.
They're out of the country.
How could there possibly be new?
Somehow there is.
So a couple weeks ago, a dealer,
so Polestar, we know,
is no longer allowed to sell in the U.S.
starting in 2027
because the U.S. government
banned them for having Chinese software.
Yep.
They said that they're just going to leave the market.
They're not really fighting it publicly.
They've had dealer groups,
one out of New Jersey specifically, sue them
and basically say,
hey, we built this whole dealership
on the premise that you would be here,
but you aren't putting up a fight.
We think you just want it to leave the market generally.
Yep.
Polestar is trying to, I think, win back the news cycle a little bit.
But they are saying more about their experience in trying to work at the Commerce Department on this.
And what they are saying now is that we were really blindsided by the Commerce Department not granting us his waiver.
We were told along the way that because Volvo, like, because it's so similar to Volvo,
the Polestar 3 and Volvo products are built on the same assembly line with what Polestar claims is the same software.
Polestar has claimed that they offered a bunch of concessions to the U.S. government.
The whole the last five years,
they've been telling us how different Polaro's are
from Volvo and how they're not Volvo's.
Yeah, and they also claimed that they offered
a bunch of concessions around how to mitigation strategies.
And then they, the Commerce Department apparently was like,
yep, you should be okay, we'll keep you updated.
Volvo got the waiver, and they were apparently very blindsided
that they did not receive it.
You got to worry.
Good, good drama here.
That argument feels like, it's like, oh, everyone else was doing,
like, aren't they worried they're just going to throw Volvo into the bus?
I'd be like, yeah, you're right.
We should ban Volvo too.
No, because the truth is probably
that the dealer in New Jersey is probably
a little bit more right than wrong.
Like, Polestar was not finding any success
in the U.S. market.
The cars were so clearly geared towards China.
Did they go hard after the Commerce Department
desperately trying to continue selling cars
in the United States like Honda would
if they were about to get kicked out?
There were calculations going on
in Volvo's corporate offices saying
and, you know, they're going to kick us out.
You know, they weren't, I can't imagine
they were fighting tooth and nail for this, is my guess.
And is the dealer's ploy here is,
let me do a lawsuit and see if I can recoup some of the investment.
That's all they want.
But the dealer...
Maybe also don't feel they're right.
They just see an opportunity to make money potentially.
Well, I mean, the dealers, people forget,
people have these opinions about dealers,
but the dealer invests an enormous amount of his personal money
or his, the dealer owner, the group's money.
into building, what often people don't understand.
Polestar doesn't just say build a building.
Build a building that has this perfect color of white
with this exact type of marble
and this exact, you know, flooring.
And those buildings cost an unbelievable amount of money,
not to mention that is land that you could have put
a Honda dealer or a Buick dealer,
but you chose Polestar to invest in their brand.
It's an enormous investment to take on a brand.
And so from the dealer's perspective,
hey, I've invested X percent of my entire net worth
into your brand.
You need to invest.
Yeah.
And so, you know, so you're on the dealer's side here.
I am not on no one's side because I don't know all the details,
but I just don't you have a feeling that Polestar wasn't sitting there going,
no, no, please give us the waiver.
We're having so much success in America that we really want to keep selling.
Polestar's claim is that, which, by the way, Polestar and Volvo, despite being owned by
Geely, both operate pretty separately, apparently.
They're like management teams.
That's so hard to believe.
Like Ki and Hyundai, which in South Korea is allowed to talk.
in the U.S. or theoretically not.
They're claiming that the Commerce Department,
and they claim to have e-mails of this,
told them that it would be reasonable to expect
that if Volvo were granted a waiver,
Polestar would be two.
And so they were not expecting this, apparently.
Apparently.
The dealer assumed that for $25 million in the images,
which is reasonable too.
Probably what the building cost are close to it.
Yeah, plus the market.
There's some math.
Some drama here,
because it turns out when a large automaker suddenly large,
small automaker suddenly has to say,
at a market, there's some issues.
I'm surprised only one dealer suing them.
A lot of these were popping up at shopping malls, though.
It wasn't necessarily all dealers putting in an enormous amount of...
A lot, all of the three dozen dealers apparently have demanding answers.
Only one has publicly sued.
Because like the one in San Diego, they just like rented a space at the mall.
I don't think they like built a building, right?
Yeah, there's very few, I think, stand alone.
Well, it'll be interesting.
And I bet we don't get Paul Star back.
And I bet no one is that disappointed about it.
Polestar is also very much taken tact of we're going to just stop.
Which tells you a lot.
It's time.
It's time.
This is actually a fun story.
In college, I worked for our school's IT department, and I got fired from my job.
Not for being bad at my job, I was actually great, but because I got caught downloading movies off of a torrent site.
The most embarrassing part of this story was that the movie I got caught torrenting was the Stepford Wives.
So being sat down by my boss did let me know that I was losing.
Using my job because of the movie The Stepford Wives, which I still haven't watched to this day out of spite, was a true low point in my college career.
And that's why I'm excited that today's sponsor is NordVPN.
Public Wi-Fi, sketchy websites, you name it, a VPN can really save you from a lot of trouble.
Maybe even life-altering trouble like losing your job.
Nord encrypts the whole thing so there's nothing to grab.
But it's Grompasa.
It's an all-in-one app for digital security now.
and the piece I didn't expect to care about is the next-gen antivirus,
which flags online scams and fake online stores,
which, if you shop for car parts on the internet at 1 a.m.,
see birds flying around hypothetically,
and all sorts of other stuff, it can really save you a lot.
And when I'm overseas or in a hotel,
and something won't play because of my region,
two taps, my virtual locations back in the U.S., and done.
One account covers up the 10 devices.

Next news story, please.
Oh, there's a link in Bronco.
It's a rendering.
Folks, don't get too excited.
That's a pretty lazy rendering.
Yeah.
The Lincoln Bronco will be coming in 2020, sorry, 2021, 2030.
Somewhere to that range.
By then we won't want it.
The Bronco came out in 20.
They're going to come out with it.
10 years old?
At that same time,
there will apparently be a Bronco pickup truck.
Now, there was talk when the Bronco first came out.
They were planning a pickup truck,
and then they realized they couldn't keep up
with production demands for the regular Bronco,
and so they canned it.
But now it will be coming back.
I'm surprised because Gladiator doesn't seem like a sharp seller.
There's a lot of incentives on it.
They're not particularly popular.
Ford also has the F-150, the Maverick,
the Fathom EV.
There's a lot of like pickup trucks in the world.
And this is a suggestion,
but maybe they're going to do it better than Jeep.
Sort of like they did the regular.
Branco better than Jeep, my right?
Yep.
I got you.
Yeah, thank you.
Don't you feel like, though, if you're already building the car,
like it sort of seems like they're trying to turn Bronco into its own brand.
You got the Bronco sport, you got the full-size Bronco, get the Lincoln Bronco.
You might as well, while you're in there, like, throw in a little mini pickup one.
Maybe a G-cab style variant.
That would be cool as hell.
I would like the old Defender 110 and 130 where you get the military-style seating.
Can I say, yeah.
Can I say something interesting?
I went to a Ford dealership this summer to look at purchasing a,
Bronco and I have elected not to. However, there is an aftermarket company that makes power tops.
For like three or four, maybe five grand, you push a button. It's, it's aftermarket.
Like the, it's one of those switches that you generic. But still, who cares? But like you push a button,
the top goes, yeah. Yeah. Very familiar. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like yours. But like, and then it
goes back up and it's what it is. Isn't that interesting? I can see. So are you holding out the 2030 for a
Lincoln? Yep. Nope. Just a short more three and a half years. I will say,
I can't believe it's going to take him this long.
There will be a Bronco hybrid that comes out in 2027, according to Jim Farther.
A plug-in hybrid?
Just all we know is that it will be a hybrid.
Nick and I want a plug-in hybrid.
The only options for us right now are a Kia Sorrento, a Volvo, a fourth option.
An outlander.
And a CX-90.
It will be longer than I expected it to be before this happens.
Yeah.
2029 is still three years away.
But the reason, the actual reason for it, although I'm complaining, is because in 29,
there will be some sort of major Bronco, either redesign or facelift.
And the Lincoln will integrate it to that.
It has nothing to do with...
21 was the first year?
Yeah, or 20?
20 was when it came out, 21 was the first one.
So it's actually crazy when you really think about it.
So C8 and Bronco have both been on the market now for six, seven years.
Time flight.
Yeah.
You're like to do a six-seven thing?
In that crazy?
We're too mature for that.
Like C-8 and Bronco both feel like new...
When I think I call them new...
Agreed.
Right?
The new Supra, the new defender.
All those cars have been out for like seven years.
Yeah.
And all of them.
COVID really messed with our perception of time.
time.
I think you're just getting older.
And also with how long
car stick around for, right?
Like, you aren't going to redesign it yet.
I don't know about you, but I get COVID like every six months now.
I don't get COVID every six months.
Maybe you should start washing my hands.
Do you remember when you did the tour of the new Bronco?
Yeah, under an open past.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was like yesterday.
I have a real question, which is,
was there ever one that was actually offered with this size tire?
I think the Sasquatch,
two-door Sasquatches are, if not that,
they're pretty damn close to that.
But it's very rare that you see a two-door Sasquash, yeah.
Very rare.
And two-door Bronco in general is pretty rare.
Don't you think the kind of gives you the idea of a pickup version of this gives you this
sport track vibes?
It's kind of like a niche pickup that's not really used as a pickup,
but like has some pickup feature.
No, like a defender high cap.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they do.
Instead of like an actual full-sized bed like a gladiator,
like make it a,
at a Hummer H2SUT styes bed.
And then it's a pickup, but like maybe in back you throw a couple of seats and some hockey bags.
Some like portable speaker.
Yeah.
You know, you have some, you know what I'm saying?
Can I just throw out there?
There's a clear example that we're not talking about, which is sad for them.
The Nia's Grandadier quartermaster is I think.
Literally that.
The Grenadier quartermaster is like a real pickup.
I'm talking about like an H2SUT.
Yeah.
Where the bed is, the truck itself isn't longer.
GM would have called that a real pickup.
No one else did.
Look at that.
Yeah, these are cool.
These are going to depreciate.
They're crazy.
By the way, the other day, I did a video
with the Bronco Philson.
It was here yesterday in the office.
Which is the luxury Bronco.
And that's a pretty impressive vehicle.
Is that still on your consideration set for next year?
No, I'm getting a Wrangler.
But the Philson's interesting.
It's not just like cosmetic BS.
It's got a different engine with more power.
Really?
It's got, well, it's got the Raptor engine,
but it's the only way you can get the Raptor engine
without getting a Raptor.
Really?
It's got ventilated seats
which normal Bronco doesn't have.
It's got a rearview mirror camera
which normal Bronco doesn't have.
It has heated rear seats
which you can't get on
none of these features
you can get on any other Bronco.
Wow.
It has like softer suspension
and different trim
and even the Bronco logo
is this like copper bronze color
instead of...
So isn't this just the Lincoln Bronco?
Like maybe they're delaying it
because the Philson fills that need
until they recycle.
Yeah.
Isn't that while?
Wow.
It sounds great.
It actually goes pretty far.
That's interesting.
And I think there's a lot of rich people
who like want a Bronco
but then they get in one
they're like, damn, this is, this is some Mickey Mouse stuff going on here.
I feel like 20% less wind noise.
That's what they claim.
They enhanced the seals for 20% less wind noise.
Now, that particular vehicle, the roof can be removed and the doors can be removed.
So my guess is it's still going to be kind of rough.
That's fascinating, though.
Yeah.
All right.
Does it come with a jacket?
No, it does not come with the jacket, but the first editions come with bags if you're interested.
It's going to start around 75.
Wow.
Are you thinking?
That's what they're thinking that the Lincoln Bronco will start out.
I better be higher.
Next.
Speaking of higher.
I thought we killed this.
The Palisade high boy, I think there's a different term for it.
They are introducing possibly only for Korea.
Definitely only for Korea.
A Palisade version with an extended roof.
And I just, with the GV90 story, I think this is very relevant.
So I'm looking at pictures.
On the roof, there's like a scream that comes down, mounted up there that has, for rear passengers,
It's a huge screen.
You can look at, you can watch stuff.
There's like a starry night.
Or maybe it's just an actual sunroof.
There's like nice lighting up there.
There's like recessed lighting.
It's like every sprinter high top.
Yeah.
Just add a few inches.
Just an R.
It's like an RV.
It's like a conversion van Hyundai Palace.
I mean, they used to do this in the explorers in the 90s.
Like I just, I haven't seen one of those in forever.
There used to be on Antiochette.
There used to be a Grand Cherokee that someone had high topped.
A second, a 96, 97 grandfielder.
Like you're doing road trips, like a little extra space.
You're going to stand up in the car.
It doesn't, much like the Lincoln version, like how much more engineering effort is it to do this?
Well, I have to imagine it reduces some rigidity.
Well, I don't think so.
Miles per gallon probably takes a hit.
The rigidity is probably all around the edges.
You think there's, like, crossbars?
Because this car must be offered with a giant panoramic sunroof.
That's true.
And this is made by Hyundai, not by.
I mean some of the aftermarket ones.
I suspect lose some rollover.
I'm a big fan of cutting the roof off.
Yeah.
I'm so glad we kept the story ahead.
Can we move on?
I just think, like, I miss coach building.
I miss the, the fact that the manufacturers are filling some of that void.
It's pretty ridiculous.
I love it.
So this is, so Kia has a high roof carnival.
And not in the U.S., but in South Korea, yeah.
Yeah, the Kia Carnival High Limousine.
This is a thing.
High spelled H.I.
Like, high limousine.
This is a thing in other market.
All right, I don't think it is.
Move on in the next story.
Oh, gosh.
Nick, what's, what's, I'm a little bit?
I don't want to talk about this.
So what do you got?
You do the whole thing.
Missouri.
Missouri is going to have 75 mile power speed limits very soon, as early as Friday,
although they've got to, like, get together and figure out which roads it applies to and not.
They haven't actually decided which roads.
It's approved.
It's happening.
So if you are going from Kansas City to Joplin, your commute just got reduced by like 15 minutes.
This isn't our news story.
Half the country has 75 miles.
Some have 80.
I was in Oklahoma last week, and they have an 80 mile an hour speed.
Does somebody have 85?
Yeah.
There's a road in Texas.
I think that as an 85.
I thought it was more than that.
It's like a toll road.
Yeah.
There's 80 all over Utah.
I'm celebrating every win here, all right?
Every little win for America that we can get.
So 75 miles an hour to go through Missouri, I'm here for it.
Okay.
That's all.
That's it.
That's a story.
That's great.
That's great stuff, Nick.
Thanks so much.
Nick, let me ask you a question.
It was a slow news.
One of the hidden things about Nick is he doesn't actually enjoy driving.
Nick, when did you last take a road trip?
Through Missouri.
Through Missouri?
Yeah, do the math in your head there.
I've flown over it before.
Can't say I've ever driven in Missouri.
The longest road trip Nick's ever done is to drive from here to car week.
Yeah, which is very recent.
Six hours.
How many bathroom stops did that involve, Nick?
I try to take as few as possible.
But probably a bunch.
A lot of Celsius and flame and hot cheetahs.
Did we talk about...
How are you alive?
You know what?
Since we're doing...
Since we're doing the talk car segment next,
I want to talk about what I can now consider,
because I've discovered this,
to be the greatest feat in motorsports.
I sent this to our group chat.
No one cared.
Yeah.
I sent this to our group chat, no one cared.
But I'm going to tell you a story.
It is possible on Memorial Day every year,
a day that you think about the sacrifice of the troops.
I sure do.
It is possible to race in both the Indy 500,
which is an IndyCar race that is held in the morning.
and the Coca-Cola 600,
which is a NASCAR race that is held
in the evening and at nighttime.
And this is referred to in racing as double duty.
I only just discovered this.
That's so many miles.
It's 1,100 miles.
Wow.
But 1,100 competition miles in one day.
Speed limit 75 helps.
Now, what makes it harder is that the Indy 500 is in Indianapolis
and the Coca-Cola 600 is in Charlotte.
And so what people do, and they do it, at least one person attempts it every year, is they do the indie race.
It must start exactly on time and have no delays of rain throughout the day.
If it does, you're done.
They finish the indie race after having driven 500 miles.
They take a helicopter from the racetrack to the airport in Indianapolis to get on a private plane in Indianapolis, fly to Charlotte, take a helicopter from the private.
Then they get to the NASCAR race.
Now, historically, if you did this, you missed the driver's meeting at the NASCAR race,
which meant you had to start last.
And so it's especially a difficult feat if you start last because if you want to do both,
complete both races, you have to finish on the lead lap.
You're starting last.
Only one person has ever done it and finished on both lead laps, which is Tony Stewart, like 20 years ago.
Wow.
But people try it relatively frequently.
Every year someone attempts to do this.
1,100 competition miles in a single day,
in two different places that aren't even slightly close.
And so, next over here, bathroom breaks after six hours.
Let me tell you something.
Tony Stewart ain't taking no bathroom breaks, you know what I'm saying?
Can we talk about the aggregate risk that you're taking on that day?
Because NASCAR and stock are somewhat dangerous as a sport.
Yeah.
And then you're getting in a helicopter, which is quite dangerous.
And a small private plane, which is quite dangerous.
And you've stacked together the most dangerous way to spend it.
You're also driving two unbelievably different cars.
And an open-wheel indie car and a NASCAR.
And an incredibly draining, incredibly difficult, physically and mentally.
Think about the physical.
I mean, it would be so hard.
It would be just so unbelievably difficult.
These guys are just trying it for the bragging rights?
Like, what's in it for them to destroy themselves?
Isn't that enough?
There is a theory that if you were to win both races in the same day, it would be considered
like the top occurrence in motorsports.
And there is some, like, rich guy who has like a $10 million or $20 million purse for
anybody who wins both races on the same day.
When Tony Stewart did it and finished on the lead lap of both, he finished
sixth and third.
Wow.
Which is wild.
He finished third in the NASCAR race, the second one.
Wow.
Think about that 1,100 competition miles.
He refused to drive six hours.
Yeah, and that's my point.
People say to me, because I drive cross-country, but I can't believe you drive
1,400 miles in a day.
I'm sitting there in my Sequoia with climate control on and ventilated seats.
Right?
with the dog next to me.
These guys are doing
1,100 competitive,
that's so serious.
You did just drive across the country
in your Sequoia.
Yeah.
What's the best thing you saw?
You know what the best thing I saw was?
Like that sign welcoming you to California on the 8th.
Oh, definitely not that.
Right after Yuma.
You know what the most beautiful part of that drive is?
You go from Massachusetts to California.
The most beautiful part of that drive
is upstate New York, Interstate 90.
You want the North Albany to Erie, Pennsylvania.
Yeah.
It's just incredibly beautiful.
Rolling hills, verdant, actually Western Mass through the Berkshires.
Yeah.
Green, beautiful rolling hills.
And every time I drive up there and there's these old brick buildings that are crumbly but they're beautiful.
Yeah.
And there's rivers up there.
I will say the not really during the summer, but the eight, when you're coming over the mountain into San Diego.
Like not the San Diego part, but like over the mound is quite pretty too.
Yeah.
I mean, that is nice.
and then Flagstaff, you take
40 to Interstate 17
through Flagstaff,
which is really beautiful too.
It gets Alpine there and it's nice.
I'm going to agree with you
that that's not my thing,
but you calling me crazy,
like, that sounds awful.
It's tedious, monotonous, long,
like road trips are just to get the point A to point B.
If I'm driving, I want to like,
give me some twisties,
give me some turns.
Road trips have brought me
some of my happiest life memories.
They're for the experience,
including driving.
I have gone to some of the coolest things
and done some of the coolest things
with my cars,
with my friends, with my people, with my wife, with my future, hopefully my children, doing
road trips.
If I had one superpower, teleportation.
There are places you can't get to by taking one of your coastal elite airplanes that you have
to get there.
Southwest Airlines.
That you have to get there in a Toyota Sequoia.
Monument Valley.
I'm working real hard to become a gold plus member, okay?
I think some of the greatest things in the world.
I think if you have time to enjoy a road trip, fine.
I never have time.
I'm rushing and it is simply just losing a day.
Typical.
Typical.
A bunch of BS.
Yeah.
Road trips have given me some of my all-time greatest memories in history.
And I think you should say, I've taken road trips all throughout the world, throughout Europe, throughout, New Zealand.
My favorite road trip story, I was like 12 or so.
And we're going through, I think it was Montana.
We stopped for lunch and had been twisty roads up in the mountains.
We walk into the restaurant.
And I'm car sick, and I've been saying I'd car sick, my parents ignore me.
And I threw up on someone else's dinner table all over their food that had just been served.
And my mom was horrified and mad at my dad because I said I was going to throw up.
And my mom just grabbed my sister and walked out of the restaurant,
pretending like she didn't know us, leaving me and my dad to buy everyone's meal because I threw up on them
and apologized to them for ruining their meal.
And if you are curious, next parents are divorced.
That's your road trip.
Indeed.
I don't think about mine.
I don't think because of that, but yes.
One time when I was on a road trip in an Aston Martin, I got a picture of it next to a bison.
Oh, I'm well aware.
We're all very aware.
What was your core memory from this road trip across the country?
Where you're doing that.
Why don't you go on another one?
They're so much fun.
Yeah.
I do love.
I think the road trip, the way I have to do it in these years is not the greatest because I do have to go really fast.
But I do truly love a good, slow road trip where you stop and you see stuff.
I mean, I remember my wife and I driving through Italy, you see.
see a cool town.
Let's go see what's over there.
And you sort of get off the freeway and go down there, and it's amazing.
I've never tried.
Some of my, you should.
I know, Nick.
I'm always just trying to get from point A to point B quickly.
Some of us enjoy the experience, not just, but.
All right, but you are back, and I think you're very disappointing.
You have a lot of car.
I got the super.
Listen, I want to tell you about this, Nick.
I get the super now.
My life has changed.
How is the Super?
How is your Super specifically?
It's great.
So a couple things.
First off, I'm going to do a video about it.
Okay, okay, okay.
It's going to go up next week, I think.
And, yeah, next week.
I'm filming it tomorrow.
But I got a Supra, Turbo.
Mark 4.
Mark 4 Turbo.
The real one.
Sport roof.
Okay.
94.
Yeah, it's a 94.
And I love everything about it.
It's amazing.
Great.
I'm so happy.
I just installed child seat tethers.
That's incredible.
I am so into this car.
It is hard for me to explain.
Now, what I've decided I want to do is every school.
year, I want to get a new fun car for like to bring the kids to school and take the kids around
and like as a fun family car.
And so this school year it's the super and it's all sell it probably in the spring.
You don't have a lot of years of doing this with sports cars.
Yeah.
The first one was this 993 twin turbo that they, that was cool.
Yeah.
And now we've got this.
What I mean is they're finite because you will have a third child.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, we're going to have to get into some bigger cars here.
I actually have more years than you think, though,
because with the third child,
he's still a few years away from, like, school.
Fair, fair, fair, fair.
This is mostly the school drop-off,
so I probably have a couple more years of just taking the two.
But, yeah, that's exciting.
Well, likewise, your current kids will get bigger
and no longer fit in the squish back seats of a two-door.
Yeah, I think that, I think that, like,
maybe I can get away with the 612 next.
Wow.
But that's like it.
It's a big-boy two-door.
It's a big.
That's as big as they get.
Yeah.
But that's like it.
Then I got to switch to four-door cars.
Well, I'm pumped.
You're big on the Supra.
Like that, we've been all looking at it for the entirety of the summer.
I'm going to tell you a couple things about it.
First off, this is going to be sacrilege,
and the Porsche people are going to hate me even more than they already do.
I swear to God, it drives better than 993.
I swear to God, it's not faster, for sure.
But I swear to God, this suspension is better.
Now, the 993 people would say,
well, you had your suspension always on the stock height, which is too high.
Well, that's how it came.
I like having these experiences like OE,
like this is what it was like in 94, 96, right?
And that's how it came.
And it's a soft kind of, you know, that's what it is.
the super feels more athletic
and I love that too Jay-Z
it is a smooth power train
it is easy to go and get power
it has a lot of power in the mid-range
you're not wanting just a little more
for these purposes I got cars with a zillion horse
What about just like a blow-off valve?
I got a Ford G-G-T I got all these cars
every all you guys like Kenan's like
he's gonna hate this thing
you don't understand my purpose for the car
is daily use to drive the tennis
and to my kid's school to drop them off
And it's so good for that.
And the thing I wasn't really expecting but should have,
people lose their minds as much as the kuntash.
Really?
Any stoplight, you're next to any Japanese car.
And in California especially, there's this big Asian car culture.
People roll down their window.
Oh, my God, a mark four.
Holy crap.
I had a guy follow me home.
He had no idea who I was.
Yesterday, he followed me home.
And he said, hey, man, I'm so sorry to follow you home.
Where did you get that car?
It is my dream car.
I have always wanted one.
I have a one-year-old son.
I want to buy one and keep it my whole life
and then give it to him.
Wow.
That's so sweet.
And I told them.
He could have Googled it, but there was a lot.
He's like, well, his first question was, are you selling?
And I was like, no, I just got it like yesterday.
I'm glad you love it.
Do your kids like it more than the 90-0-0-0.
The kids love it.
It's a convertible.
So the kids love it more than the 9-11 already.
But also, I think they just like, they're at an age where they're getting like really
into the cars a little bit more.
And they see how excited I am.
And I think they've already seen how excited the other people
around them are, they're like, what is he, why are these people coming up to us?
The kids kind of, I've noticed that with my cars, like, the kids are as excited as I am for it.
So the more I'm excited, the more they match that level.
It doesn't matter what the car is.
So, and like always, if I'm over a car, they somehow pick up on that and they're over it too.
You went nuts over the summer buying cars, but you didn't have to face any of the inconvenience
and hassle.
So now you're here and you got three cars of various stages.
The other two.
Like, you're, you're going to pay the price now.
The other two, which is this Mercedes-Benz, Station, Reagan, and then there's some sort of
sort of Ford. I haven't revealed it yet.
God knows what it is.
They both have undergone significant servicing before coming to me.
I really hope it was an SVT cobra.
Yeah.
No, could be a Turmi would be great.
Could be a termie could be a termie cobra.
Termi would be cool.
I would buy it on you.
I'd be a good forcing family car for a kid.
I agree.
And especially in Mysticrum.
Had it would love that.
Of course.
Yeah, hadn't considered that.
Convertible Termi cobra.
Had room for days.
Head room for days.
Leg room's tough.
Just pat the legs like to the side up.
I don't know.
I, true, but so the result of all this is there's going to be an enormous amount of car movements.
I bought three. I'll be announcing all three of them over the next eight weeks.
I'm selling three.
Whoa.
Is that what it is? It's three and three.
This is a lot of headaches.
It's a lot of headaches.
A lot of headaches for someone who doesn't tolerate headaches.
We have a baby due in 38 days.
Yeah.
You've been off a lot.
So it's a lot going on.
You're going to be off cars in 39 days.
And part because you overdone.
did it in the 38 days leading up to this event.
Let him have. If I'm honest, I have
always wanted the four-car
garage that I now have. Yeah.
Which, with the Supra. I love the
99-993, and I got it because we found the right one
at the right time, but I always wanted the super to be the
fourth. And I actually
like it even more than I expected that I will. I'm so
glad. It's also so cool to see it with
the other. When do you see, like, a clean Mark
4 driver? I was thinking about all these people
rolling down their window at me, because I have the roof
off. Yeah, stock. I have the roof off,
and so people talk to me more than
in other cars.
Oh, yeah, I could see that.
And, like, how cool is it to see a clean Mark 4?
Like, I would freak out, too.
I would be like, yo, man, that's awesome.
Yeah, yeah.
Or a 3,000 DT, or any of those.
But, like, the Mark 4 has been...
It's a cultural moment.
I also didn't realize, but I timed it
with the 25th anniversary of Fast and the Furious release thing,
which has become, like, it's also a big cultural thing.
I'm seeing it all over once to me.
We're going to go.
What?
No, we're not, actually.
Maybe put our arms around each other and the theater.
In the Super Office.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Imagine what they were a...
drive-in. Somebody should do a drive-in screening.
And only invite cars
from the movie. Oh, that'd be great.
I would go. There are drive-ins all over the plane. All the other
supras, though, would be, like, two-stepping the entire
movie. You'd see nothing. So true.
There's vape clouds everywhere.
You actually, like, collect all the keys so that nobody can do that.
It is wild, like, driving it around. I wonder what people
think, like, I didn't notice the sheer
number of modded Japanese cars until
I got the supra, and then I'm paying attention to them because I know
are people trying to race? No one's
tried to race, but they're all going to, like, thumbs up
or take a picture or say something, all of them.
And I didn't really notice how many of those cars are around.
But what are those people thinking of me?
They're probably like some jerk in his stock, like overpaid stock super, which is true.
Yep.
I want to talk so that's all happening.
Are you excited for all the car movements?
Are you going to buy any of my cars?
I'm very excited for all the movements.
Yeah.
I'm a potential buyer on your Ford GT.
If you should get rid of it.
If that's one of the three, we don't know.
At the right price.
What's the right price to you?
Like 2021 values.
That's appealing.
I wouldn't even sell it for that.
That's appealing.
I've given you a pretty good window.
I was like yesterday.
I mean, the C8 had barely been out.
Bronco was brand new.
You were probably still in like back order.
He's not a good point.
Yeah.
Supply chain, man.
A 4GC is going to go.
And everybody's got to prepare for that.
Okay.
Are you going to prepare for that?
What do I need to prepare?
Well, are you going to be sad?
No, not necessarily.
Okay.
I'm proud of you.
There was a moment where you were off cars.
I like to think I had a little small part
and waking you up.
Three years without buying a car.
And then we got that twin turbo.
Me and Sean drove up to Santa Clarit
and got that twin turbo.
And that's when everything changed.
The value prop of having you as a friend
is supposed to be that you're bringing
all these cars into our lives.
And you were really falling short.
However, I will say the cars I'm choosing
are not resonating with our group.
Like, you guys hate the Supra.
You guys are not interested in a Ford GT heritage
if such a car rate was to exist.
Like, it's not really...
Okay, I'm into these for the way.
record. I'm in all of them. I would like to drop them. But I get what I like and I always have.
I would like to buy them. I think those cars are overvalued for what I would personally spend my
money on. But for you, good on you. Good on you. I support people being happy.
Oh, that's sweet. How beautiful. Yep. How beautiful. Thank you. So you're anti-tariff.
I want to talk also my other talk car segment. I'm sorry to monopolized to talk car segment,
although I haven't gone forever. I haven't talked about cars because I haven't done.
done any car. I don't think you've thought about cars. It is so nice this pod doesn't start with us,
having 30 minutes of asking you to raise your camera, use the right microphone, and try a little
harder to up the production light. It is funny. Like in the summer, I literally do not think about
cars. I only drive my Sequoia for almost four months. I don't do any car thought. Yeah.
And yet I managed to buy three cars. You didn't drive that car? Uh, no. The car behind me?
Yeah, that's being sold. It looks oddly clean. It looks clean. It looks clean. Like it's being
prep for sale. We're selling it. It's over. You want it? No. You sure? I got a better version
at home. It's like you're full size, but better. No. It's worse than every component. What do you mean?
It's more capable of... Does it have a five-liter supercharged V8 with 500 horsepower? It has a five-liter
V8. Does it have you could grow? No, but it could. There's... Does it have four-doors?
Four-doors is not a benefit if you're off-roading. I've not off-roading. I'm not off-roading.
Me and Felipe are short-wheel-based off-road guys. Yep. Do you know what I'm saying? We do
switchbacks. I actually have a really long wheelbase in my two-wheel drive pickup truck.
Me and Felipe do Black Bear Pass every summer.
I don't know what that means.
Okay, you wouldn't.
Despite your many years of owning off-road vehicles.
I want to talk about one other car segment,
which is, of course, the Saturn Files.
Can you pull up the Saturday video?
Yeah, absolutely can't.
After many years, four years, Nick Stafford over here,
he's our video editor.
He's edited the Saturn Files.
I begged him to do it.
That's right there.
The Saturn videos up,
and I watched it because it had been four years since I filmed it.
And I watched it, and I was thinking myself,
this isn't all that good.
I thought it was great.
The car or the review?
The review.
I thought it was delightful.
It was nice to see like four years ago, Doug.
Funny story about this video.
I only made this video because the fellow who had this Saturn was selling a Ferrari,
do you remember this?
Yeah.
Was selling a Ferrari 430 scootaria on cars and bids.
And we were showing up, I showed up his house, like the day before I showed up,
he said, hey, by the way, I also have this really clean Saturn.
Do you want to do a video on that, too, while you're here?
And I was like, yeah, okay.
and then it just never really worked in my schedule.
Explain to me like I'm a child, which might be fair.
How did this become a meme?
Right?
Like, okay, so you filmed this, but like it was every comment for years, it feels like.
How did that catch on?
You posted that you were a picture of this car four years ago.
I was reviewing it.
Are there just that many Saturn fans out there?
No, no.
And then at some point, it, thumbnails or something showed up in some of our content, right?
Something like that.
It was in the old cars of its at.
Oh, it was in.
Yeah, that's right.
We had an ad.
It had appeared.
People knew it was out there.
They didn't care about the Saturn.
They only cared about the fact they knew I had this, like, one video.
And then it became this thing because, like, Epstein.
Like an inside joke.
It was like, oh, Doug has this holding this Saturn video,
just like they're holding that.
And so that became the release of Saturn Files thing.
And I was surprised at how frequent and, like, with fervor,
these comments were about release of Saturn.
I was walking down the street in Washington, D.C.
I swear to God, I can't believe I've told this story.
I was walking on the street in Washington, D.C. this spring,
and a man walked by and yelled out, released the Saturn fire.
I had never seen this guy before.
He didn't say that yells.
I swear to God that happened.
That's incredible.
And so now it's over.
And you know, a little bit of a letdown.
So what, yeah, where would it go from here?
Well, now, this is the real problem.
Are we going back to Doug as the kind of guy commented?
The real reason, truthfully, that I never released a Saturn video before,
Nick Stafford knows this, our editor.
God incarnate, is because we always used it as a buffer video.
So when I was away for the summer, this was always the video that held the place of like
the very last day in case I showed up and like couldn't get a video done and we needed a video.
But I was always able to come back and immediately start recording.
And then there's a backlog of stuff we have to get through.
And so this end up getting pushed until the following summer.
So was this a buffer video this week?
And we finally had to use it for various reasons.
So now it's gone.
It's done.
It's not like you were filming in the Peterson Museum
and there was loud noises everywhere
and you just went with it.
You know, the XKR really upset me.
We put up this video.
Pull it up.
We put it this video of this.
That was one of my favorite Doug videos in a while.
Yeah, me too.
And by the way, you should have driven.
That car was miserable to drive.
I'm sure.
I cannot explain to you how miserable
a car was to drive.
So not only did that car not have an exhaust.
So it was the loudest thing I've ever driven.
But it also, it didn't have a firewall at all.
And it was like an old Windsor motor.
Like it was.
It was a...
Was it carbureted?
It was a 5-liter V8.
Wait, was it a carburet?
I thought it came from Explorer.
I don't remember anything.
But it was a big old 5-liter Ford V8, and there was no firewall.
It was so hot.
Like, indescribable sitting in there how hot it was.
The motor was there with you, basically, in the car.
And if you put your knees too far forward, you were touching like some superheeded component.
This was the worst experience I have ever had.
And it goes to remind you, like, this car looked cool on screen.
Amazing.
Just goes to remind you, like, concept cars, movie cars, they look cool.
Yep.
That's all they do.
Yep.
That's all they do.
I would like to propose a new conspiracy now that the Saturn Files are out.
Yeah.
There's that video where you had like a gash in your forehead.
Oh, yeah.
I think of your Quadra Porte, maybe.
Yes.
And so I think that we need more information.
I...
There is a cover-up.
I actually, that was annoying because I got stitches that day.
And then I felt the Catre Porte-Vorte video because I was so backed up.
But that was annoying because I did announce in like seven videos what happened
But because the stitches were in like 30 videos
It wasn't enough announcing, right?
Like people didn't watch the seven videos
I've seen some conspiracies, that's all I'm said, I need answers
I slipped and fell in my garage I'll never forget that day
I slipped and fell in my garage
Bleeding I drove next quattroporte up to get stitches
I got stitches I came home did the whole quattroporte video
And then went to my garage and filmed like three Sunday videos
You know what my conspiracy theory is?
He's growing out his beard, familiar, growing out the length of his hair a little bit, familiar,
buying a lot of cars at a lower price point that are family-friendly.
Like, I think he's starting to, he's becoming crazy Nick, and then I'm buying Kia's and like,
kind of toning it down a little bit.
Like, we're trading places.
Okay.
Can we talk about, following in my footsteps?
Can we talk about the Kia?
We, I guess.
Because I owned a Kia before you.
There's not a whole lot to talk about.
Okay, but let's, let's talk about how we're feeling about it.
Nick has a Kia Sorrento plug-in hybrid that is the perfect.
perfect fit for his family. His family likes it. He doesn't. I also have a little regret. I'm going to tell you a little Nick's story. So this summer, Nick was looking for a plug-in hybrid SUV. And there's only like two that aren't expensive. There's a bunch of expensive ones. But there's only like two that are not crazy expensive. And Nick had narrowed it down to this Kia Sorrento and this Volvo. And the Volvo was like two years old, but like 70 grand or something, right?
Uh, 5999. 60. But these, but seven-year-old volvos were like $8,300 on Crails list. And I told,
Nick that he would, it would be a horrible mistake because the depreciation would be unbelievable.
Much as I love that.
And Nick is one of the most convincing people that I know.
That's nice.
He's a salesperson who's easy to sell to.
And he, I convinced him not to get the Volvo because of the depreciation thing.
And now he got the Kia instead and he regrets it significantly.
Not to mention the damage he did with the relationship with his neighbor.
His neighbor does own a dealership that he bought it from.
I think, had I spent an extra 20.
20, 25 grand on that Volvo, I'd still feel meh about it.
Like, I would just have 20 grand less to spend on cool cars and be like,
eh, it's like a mom car.
Like, I don't think, I don't think it would be slightly look at it and think,
oh, that's a cool car.
But like, I feel like I would also have a little buyer's remorse.
Do you regret the obvious thing you should regret,
which is limiting yourself to the three plug-in hybrid?
I regret not getting a Toyota four-runner.
That was the right end.
There's no three-row-row.
A new body?
There are, yeah.
Yeah, there are.
With the hybrid?
No, that's the carbon.
I couldn't get the hybrid.
I would have just go gas, which is fine.
So you would have just given up every single one of your other.
Yeah, or a teluride.
Had I given up the plug-in hybrid.
I beg you to get a same.
I will say I enjoy the plug-in component.
Like, most of our miles are EV.
I think I'm getting like 130 miles per gallon on average since last fill up.
Like, it meets our needs really well.
It is just a super boring, practical yawn of a car.
That's okay.
When you have an SLR, you're allowed to have a yawn of a car.
When you sell an SLR, you got to reconsider.
I mean, maybe, but I don't have any on cars.
You know what?
Also, my wife, who's not a car person, said, I have to drive it differently because he's like,
when I make a dicey move in the Kaya and I have all this power and I can do like a yellow light
really well versus this car doesn't have the get up and go.
Also, she's learning that when you lose 420 naturally aspirated horsepower, you lose something.
Can I ask you also another obvious question that I think is obvious?
Up in your area, brand and badging is important.
Do you have any?
I mean, we got a range over convertible on HREs.
Right. I'm good. I'm good.
I think that you should accept that it's not for you.
That's okay.
It's definitely not.
That's okay.
But yeah, I think it was a rash decision over the summer that I wouldn't be surprised
and I'm not sure how to exit it, but like I'm thinking of trading it in.
Does it have paper, does it have plates?
No, it's still on paper.
I haven't been sent a title.
I'm sure they could figure that out.
You got to just, you can.
But like, if a cool 2027 model comes out, like, I'm convincible.
Man.
Jesus.
Or one of these E-E-R-V things?
E-R-R-Vs, yeah.
E-R-R-GVs.
That would have, that would have fit the bill.
There's a new Santa Fe coming out at 27.
If Rivian has an R1S with a gas backup motor, I'm down.
They won't.
They're EV only.
One time I was working here.
I think I just saw a bird.
In here?
Yes.
I swear to God.
Or a bat?
That'd be on 4 shot.
Maybe I had too many Celsius is.
I swear.
This is Nick.
If you see something black fly across the rain.
This is the problem with Nick.
Now you're understanding.
Roll back to the table.
He's crazy.
Someone at the beach came up to me and said crazy, Nick.
Not crazy.
I'm not crazy.
Are you not crazy?
You think there's a bird in here?
How could a bird get in here?
We're 20 feet underground.
Do you got an elevator with a garage door?
You don't think we didn't notice in the...
elevator, there's a bird?
And what?
It flies down to 55 feet.
It could have came in that weird
Buick thing or any of these cars.
You've never had a bird in your car?
I've never had a bird in the office or in my car.
Well, um, okay.
Birds.
Should we talk about the market report brought to you by cars a bids?
Well, I want to talk about the cayenne.
I do want to talk market report, but only about one car.
And then we got to move on to questions.
Um, the cayenne, you're selling your Kyan GTS.
Yes.
Did you remove your political bumper stickers from it?
There's a lot removed from the
rear bumper, including some paint.
Okay, so...
What a way to sell it on.
This is something I can't get around disclosed.
What is...
Nothing you can get around disclosed.
But he's going to not disclose everything else.
Pull up Kyan GTS.
What year is it?
This is terrifying.
You guys just sold a turbo that had a questionable livery on it for like nine.
What year is it?
2014 GTS.
Okay, so look up like 12 to...
15 to 15, right?
Yeah, sure.
Although 15 was a facelift.
These cars are the best.
Best value in the world.
Yeah, 2014, it would be the max.
Okay.
So how many miles you got?
24, 50.
I got 130.
129 and change.
We'll click on this one.
This one just sold.
But it's got like some mods.
With 110, this one just sold for 21.
But it's got some like upgrades.
I got trade in offers when I was.
24, 17.
Looking at these regrettable vehicles for 11.
11 people.
So I figure as long as I beat that, I'm not.
But it's a cool color.
Right.
So 17 gets you a cool color, G.
So you're going to get like, what, 12, 14.
someone like that.
I'm hoping for 15 to 20.
What did you get at that range?
39.
But this was seven years ago with 60,000 miles.
I've doubled the mileage over seven years.
Like, it's been a good card.
I'm proud of me for selling it
because I have that same thought with my station wagon,
which I bought on course of birth for 27K
five years ago.
And I've added 65,000 miles sins.
Yeah.
And like, it's worth nothing.
Or 15 grand, probably on a good day.
But it's worth more to me.
Well, he needs a space.
I need the space.
He needs a space.
And the cash.
The cash frankly.
And the cash, frankly.
I think you could do a cool overland build on it.
You could turn it into a daily.
He needs to get 12 grand out of his wife's old Cayenne.
Have you shopped for an alternator on one of those things?
Okay.
So you think you'll get 12.
No, I think I'll get...
If someone were to offer me, I think a minimum of 16, I would take a private party.
I think it would look at 20.
When I?
20 is what I have my chat GPT ad for on the dashboard that you ripped up.
When this car was...
Literally did rip it up.
When this car was delivered.
Yeah.
It was only me and Nick.
Yeah.
And we had dinner to celebrate.
Did you really?
In La Jolla Shore.
In La Jolla Shore.
What did you buy it from?
A dealer?
A dealer, Elite Motors in Concord, California.
Wow.
Me and Nick, he got the car.
Did you have it delivered there in La Jolla Shores?
No, I just lived in La Jolla at the time.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
And then we went to dinner there at that, at that bizarre restaurant that's like all windows,
but it looks out over the beach.
Never been.
And then it has those bright lights that point at the beach.
It's part of the hotel.
there. I can't remember. Anyway, it was a great experience, and I'll never forget that night,
and Sam wasn't there. Something to think about when you're, when we're totally in it all up.
Who are you, friend? Keep in mind with those comps. None of them have the red interior.
The red interior is, your car is cleaned up nicely. And I got a 9-92 steering wheel,
car play. Carplay that you installed in a video. I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised at how
well we do. This car. Whoa. Have you seen this? Uh-huh. Oh, I've seen it.
You're aware of this is a 2009 Honda Civic. Yeah, worst spec on Instagram posted it yesterday, and I was like,
Oh, my God.
I saw this come out.
Do we think we should feature this?
You haven't seen this?
This is incredible.
No.
Yeah.
It's an eventador.
Someone put a lot of effort into this.
There's a real event door.
Maybe, or maybe it's a 2009 Honda City.
It's so hard to tell.
Man, I think you can tell because of the proportion.
It's a little shorter.
No, no.
A little less wide.
I think it's a totally proportionally.
You know, I will say it looks more like a Sesto Elemento.
Pull up.
Oh, I see that.
Pull up the interior, please.
Oh, it's also got a little.
Lambo interior?
Isn't that actually pretty convinced?
Is that Alcantara?
How do you do it?
It's a Lambo.
I don't know what you do with this car, but-
What do you mean?
You drive it.
You, you, what do you do with an event?
Like a serious human to places?
A high mile event door, you can drive.
Yeah, anybody who wants an event-door,
but doesn't want to pay up for a low-mile car?
Here's your driver.
Here's your driver.
Pull up the Carfax, please.
I am wondering.
All right, so it's been hit.
It's 2015, but of course it has.
Airbags do not deploy.
It's been a bit of North Carolina.
It's probably least first.
Keep going.
Keep going.
Wait.
Sold new in New London, North Carolina.
Yeah.
Do you think that when Tim Marburger Honda was servicing it?
You pull up at the drive at the, at the forecourt there, they're going to say, no, no, we don't service a vent of noise.
I know, because it was certified pre-owned in 2013 as Alabaster Silver Metallic.
So they're good.
Then it got the Walmart for oil changes.
Walmart or not.
There was a minor accident.
Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Go back up.
There was an accident.
Keep going, keep going.
Accident here, and then extreme automotive.
And that's where it all changed.
No, no, no, no.
The question is, it was reported as blue in 2020.
I can't believe they're still servicing it at a Honda dealer in 21.
When it was already blue, so presumably it was already a event.
Yeah, it was already become an event.
These Honda Tech's getting that and just losing their minds.
Vehicle offered for sale since August in 21.
Yeah.
It's selling here, folks.
It's no reserve.
If you want to, yeah, I know, pull up in this thing.
But I think they would say, I think they would legit say, like, is this an eventor, sir?
I'm so sorry, we don't service these.
I don't think they would be.
I think they would say this is too heavily modified and we're not willing to take on the liability.
I don't think they would have.
But I don't think there's much liability.
I'm going to be honest, there are some good angles?
This is a good angle.
I think it's pretty neat.
It's so cool.
Dude, for an 09 Civic, this, cool.
This doesn't suck.
I actually think it's a shame that they made it into an Eventador replica because I think if they had just made it into a generic bizarre car, it would kind of be
almost cooler.
I don't know, there's a lot of Lamborghini badges.
The move would be to take this to Car Week.
Sissidor?
Try to get it in the shows.
What do you think the last service was?
For a math and an O2 sensor.
Oxygen sensor at Duncan's AutoCare.
Red, white, blue, faith, family freedom.
America.
That's where you want to take your Italian kit car of a Japanese car deal.
Anyway, time for questions, but first,
Felipe has an announcement.
Yes, we are hosting a Cars and Coffee in Boston,
with the local car club archive.
There's limited spots, but come see the archive club,
and some of our folks from Cars and Bids on September 19th.
We'll put a link below so you can register.
What kind of cars are going to show up to this?
All the cool cars.
If you live in Boston.
It's about it thought of Boston.
At the Archive Club.
At the Archive Club.
And this is like a Car Club in Boston.
It's a car club in Boston.
We're having a Cars and Coffee there on the 19th.
On the 19th September.
Register at the link below.
Oh, wow, they're Insta.
They got some cool cars.
They do some cool cars.
Okay.
We got to get on to the questions.
And there's some great questions.
some of which are directed at Nick.
There were some directed at Kennan, but he's not here, folks.
Okay, first question from precise details N.H.
Do you think that by having Nick do the commercial reads, it makes him less likable?
I kind of do.
First off.
Harsh.
Precise details NH.
If we are in New Hampshire or even Northern Massachusetts, we are never going to detail our car with you.
Maybe even Southern Vermont.
God damn it.
Why, where do you think?
Did you make a lot of assumptions of where New Hampshire there?
He's in Southern New Hampshire where everybody is.
You think he's in Northern New Hampshire talking about Nick?
If he was in Northern New Hampshire, he'd be shooting a moose right now.
For God's sake, he'd be out there.
Like photographing?
No, he'd be out there with a, with a, he'd be taken down a moose so he can eat it in his mud hut.
Okay, anyway, it's actually a good question.
I actually do, I will use your services precise details on H.
Maybe.
I will use them if you.
You can come to Portsmouth.
You can clean up all of my cars that are in Portsmouth.
How many regrets you have about all of us?
But here's the deal.
Nick reading the ads is the greatest thing that ever happened to us.
Here's what happened.
Before Nick, we would just read the ads.
Yeah.
And then Nick showed up, and he's insane.
He thinks there's a bird in here.
He's obviously nuts.
You're all going to be sorry when you see bird dropping all over these cars.
Yep.
It'll be us who's sorry.
He reads the ads.
The ads are crazy.
Honestly, I think the ad reads are the best part of the whole podcast.
Except, of course, for the weeks when Nick doesn't do them,
which is they're also great.
They're also great.
So good when Felipeo stone cold reads the ad off the prompter.
But when Nick reads them, they are good ads.
You know, I want to see the outtakes because I struggle with reading sometimes.
We can't put the outtips off.
Or I get distracted.
Or, like, if they don't put the punctuation in the right place, like, I'll read it wrong.
Yeah, well, that is how punctuation.
should work. I kind of, I get a kick out of doing it. I haven't thought about that making me less
likable. Guys, there's going to be ads. Yeah. This is a business. This is a business. So all you can do
is hope for the least, the least boring, least worst ad reads possible. And I have fun doing them.
Like, I truly do enjoy them. Sean has now asked me to do all of them. Nick is an ad sales guy.
It is real life. He's an answer. So this is like, this is almost cathartic for him. He's like,
oh, I get to participate in the other side of my economy. Yeah. And I got a math.
mattress out of it. So like...
Did you realize?
Wow.
I did.
I did.
For your children.
Thank you, Helix sleep.
My mother-in-law is a big fan of our new guest bedroom mattress.
She's sleeping great.
She would say that anyways, but I'm thinking about.
Okay.
All right.
She's had her hip replacement all this.
This is great stuff.
This is great stuff.
So anyway, we all like the Nick Adreads.
And there are some days where the podcast, I don't have time to watch it.
And I go just only to the Nick AdRad.
Did you watch the pods when you weren't on?
Oh, yeah, be honest.
Front to back.
No, last week's pot, I was actually disappointed
because the Luce sale, it was a big pot.
You should have been there.
Should have been there.
But you were doing a road trip,
which is apparently a lot of fun.
Really great moments.
You had 35 hours.
I'm sure you listened to the two hours of content we put out.
You did have time.
I did some stuff.
Okay.
Here's a question from Brandon Giles.
Are there any poster cars anymore?
What are kids buying at the Scholastic Book Fair
to put on their walls.
The Tesla Roadster.
You know, my kids do have, still have those book fairs.
They're fundraisers for the schools, but like those still happen and you do get the little
print paper thing.
So if that question is serious, like those still do exist.
I think that was the question.
Well, the second part of the question is now, do they have car posters?
And I think much like the birds in the office, there's some disagreement as to whether
they exist.
The question wasn't about
whether scholastic book fairs still is.
And saying,
are there poster cards anymore?
Are there scholastic book fairs anymore?
He's insane.
He's insane.
He says to us, 20 minutes ago,
someone cared you at the beach and call me crazy Nick.
Why do you think they do that?
You're crazy.
You're over here telling us that they still have scholastic
bullfair.
Good information.
There is.
They got all sorts of stuff.
It's so cool.
Are there poster cars anymore?
I don't really think there are.
Today's, I'm going to answer the question straight
because he's not able to.
He can't even pay attention.
I mean, the question was 14 words.
We're pretty, we're an hour and 14 minutes in, all right?
The poster cars for today's youth, I've learned, are Konigzigs and Paghani.
I don't know if they physically have posters.
That's the thing.
I don't, they may have the classic book drive.
But poster car in the same way, like your phone background or the cars that you on Instagram.
The Zonda has, every Pagani has looked the same.
Every Konexig's like is looked the same.
To you, they do.
But that's what the kids think about the stuff that you're in.
Do they have pictures up on the wall?
I don't know about that.
But I don't know if posters are like still a thing in the same way.
I don't know, probably.
But the kids of today are into the Konigsegs, the ponies.
They're into the Lambeaus.
To be fair, like a kuntosh was a, that was the pinnacle.
Yeah.
Just like these are the pinnacle now.
But the question is what are the poster cars.
I think that's what it's what it was.
I think it's like those are the cars that the kids today like really get into.
I think like on a lesser exotic level,
shockingly, the GT3RS is like,
Yeah, huge car of the...
Of course the GT cars are.
Big wings, they're in.
Ferrari's seen less so.
Like, the kids aren't as into Ferrari's these days.
Well, have you seen any?
Some of them are cool.
No, they're cool.
The Ferraris are cool.
But I think the kids...
They're not extreme anymore.
The kids don't think they're that extreme.
The kids think they're kind of more for older people.
Yeah.
Which is kind of true.
The 4-5-8 came out, and that was like an extreme design.
Yeah.
And before that, that 40 and that 50 are, like, striking.
And then so.
Yeah.
An SF-90?
Ferrari is definitely more beautiful.
but as a result, more tame.
But it does make you wonder
if the Ferrari enthusiasm carries forward
when you can pretty clearly see
in this latest generation.
And everybody always agrees,
young people buy when they become rich, old people,
they buy what they liked as kids.
You can see kind of where that's going on.
I think the Rualto was a little more striking visually.
I also do think something like a cyber truck
for a brief period was,
or a Tesla Roadsterone that doesn't exist,
like gets hype from that crowd.
Yep.
I'll say, I know this wasn't the question.
Oh boy.
To answer your question, I can't do any more.
Kids still do posters.
My kids have a surf poster.
My son has a poster that I made of him where he's in the SLR, like pretending to drive
with the door up.
And then I replace the background using AI to be like an animated track kind of thing.
And like they love their posters.
So that is still also a thing.
I do think people are like the posters, you know how like kids,
these days were Nirvana shirts, but they weren't alive during Nirvana.
Like, I think there's still a lot of, like, vintage throwback kind of vibes to it.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same poster cars we lusted after.
Aside from sports illustrily swimsuit model posters, what posters did you have on your room?
So, fun fact, my, I assume, right?
Absolutely.
I had this, like, really ugly wallpaper as a kid that I didn't like.
I covered every square inch of my room with snowboarding and skateboarding magazine.
So I ripped out page by page, and it took me, like, weeks.
but every single inch of my room was covered
so you could not see any of the wallpaper.
You were into snowboarding and skateboarding?
I'm still into it.
I just was terrible at it, so I didn't make it a career.
Aren't you stunned that with his ADHD, he was able to do that?
Yeah.
It must have taken him a year.
Yeah, it did take a while.
I've seen a picture you sent a picture for it.
It looked very cool.
That's why, when I met Todd Richards, he was selling the TTRS,
and I'm like, I literally had pictures of you in my bedroom as a child,
as weird as that sounds.
So you didn't have cars?
I didn't, no.
Did you?
I'm not a poster,
person. I had, believe it or not,
a kuntosh. Did you really?
Yeah. Blue.
Legit.
And a Testerosa.
What vintage?
The same one I have.
It was a round belly, but it was not a 400 periscopio.
It was the same one I have.
It was probably a high car now that I think about it.
So it was my car exactly, but blue.
Wow.
And then I had a testa rosa, which I'm not into.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Isn't that crazy?
I'm too young to have a kate kuntas poster, but I did.
But when we still lived in Italy, but we're
moving to the U.S., my step that in the U.S. had
a XJ. Cherokee,
and so I had a little picture of an extra Cherokee.
I was going to get, like, a Volkswagen polo.
Yep.
Something I'd be legitimately surprised they made a poster of.
That's right.
Next question.
Next question for, next question for,
oh, wow, Sean wants me to do this one.
Oh, Felipe wants me to do this one.
I'm highlighting it around.
X. Andre 3000.
Dear Doug, in your pursuit of the best four-seater,
Nick, I need you to pay attention for the question.
I'm looking for it in writing so that I can read while you.
articulate.
I want to be clear.
This is, I just was highlighting
at random.
Did you hear you just say?
He wants me to,
he doesn't,
he doesn't want to listen,
he wants to read
instead of listening.
People learn better that way.
No, some people learn better
that way.
Dude, Doug, in your pursuit
for the best four-seater
manual car, he's not doing either.
Yeah.
Was the M-2 ever in consideration,
specifically the M-2 competition
or M-2-CS?
I remember you raving about that car.
Sean's got one of those.
Yeah, Sean does have an M-2.
I still haven't seen it,
but I hear about it.
Really?
Yeah.
It's upstairs.
It's cool.
No, you know what I, you know what hit me with this whole super thing
and the 9 and 3 turbo thing?
Especially for this purpose, the daily use car
where I'm dropping off my kids and my dog
and picking up ice and, you know,
I like icons.
You like icons and also you're willing to put up with,
you're willing to pay more.
Yeah, honestly.
And also you're willing to put, like, it doesn't matter.
Like this question is predicated on the, on the, on the thought that I,
it says, in your.
pursuit for the best four-seater manual fun car.
That's not really what I was looking for.
Yeah.
I didn't want the best four-sad.
I wanted like a cool car.
Driving a Mark 4-Super to me is super cool.
I don't think driving an M-2 is that cool.
I think they're amazing cars, way better than the Mark-Fer Supra, from a driving perspective
in every way.
But like, it's a car you see.
It's not, but like driving the Marks for a super.
And from a perspective of like cruising around with my kids at stoplights, I'm not looking
for the best driving experience, but I am looking for like a cool,
feel and experience
and like a cultural moment
and that's what the super
And I think there is something
for like the pattern interrupt
Like you just don't see supras
Or 993 turbos
Like you see M2s
Quite a bet
And I love them
I agree with you
Like it's better car objectively
But like it's special
That you're driving around
A Mark 4 Supra
And everyone's losing their minds
If you picked an M2
You would enjoy that a little bit more
Although you could go in the Career GT
If you want a driving experience
But you wouldn't
It wouldn't have that sense of occasion
Yeah you're also not looking for the best
all-purpose car.
You're looking for a specific purpose where if it doesn't, if you're Supera or if you eventually
have a 612, if it needs something, great, who cares?
It doesn't impact your daily life.
Sean needed that car as a car that you can use as a daily driver.
Wouldn't the 1M be a better answer?
Probably for the icon that I'm going for.
It would be closer to that anyways.
But I have no regrets about stuff like the M2.
Yes, a better car, but not really what I'm going for.
M2 is slept on, man.
I completely agree it's an amazing car.
But I still think that like Kenin and some others are struggling.
to understand.
And clearly this fellow too.
Exactly my purposes.
Do you understand?
I do.
From Spencer spotted,
what was your most nostalgic car
that a family member or childhood friend
had?
When you think about your childhood,
what is the car that you're the most
kind of nostalgic for that's the most interesting?
You're aware of them the least nostalgic person you know.
Sure, but like what's your highest memory?
Like, you're your biggest memory of a car,
even if there's not actually nostalgia.
Like, what do you think helped?
shape you the most as a person.
My mom, when I was a kid, we had a 1993...
Nick's doing something.
I'm having a question.
My mom when I was a kid, we had a 1993 Azuzu rodeo.
Yeah.
Six-shift for a drive.
That car I remember pretty well.
Does that have to be owned by someone in your family?
Yeah, just, it was in your orbit.
The C-5 Corvette purple on yellow wheels.
Wow.
It was the indie base car?
someone with an indie C5
A lawyer on our street who had the biggest
house on the entire street had one of those
and like very proud of it
like you saw it around and it was like
that's a purple on yellow
Corvette just driving around Sandesky, Ohio.
That is some Midwest.
It was peak Midwest. The first
performance car was given a ride in. We lived in Massachusetts
Western Mass. My neighbor bought a C5
Corvette and took me for a ride
like literally just down the block and probably gave it
half throttle but that was
10 times faster than any prior car
ever been in. And you weren't interested in the speed anyway, so you were like, I don't know,
this isn't much for you. Yeah. The other car that I'm printed to me, which is why I'm still
obsessed with the XKR was at my high school graduation. Someone brought an XKR on the 20s that was like
the new car at the time and let me drive it. Oh, damn J-Gate. And so I was already like having a
good day, you know, then I got to drive that and I'm like, I want one of these so bad. And now that
they're eight grand, I'm still want one. Damn, Nikki Loub, you know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Next question
Do you see there was a new question?
Yeah, next question from NN-N-I-K-N-I-C-K-N-O-3.
He just wrote his username down.
He had an 0-3.
Any username, he chose 03.
You know what?
I think my username's different on cars a bit.
Don't you think the 958 Kyan is a great underweighted car
worth at least $20,000?
Definitely not a $13,000 car.
No, I think it's a $13,000 car.
It says you asked.
Next question.
I think we should open that up for debate.
It is definitely.
Chat GPT says that I should list it for 21-5 and accept offers over 19.
Oh, wow.
Oh, do it.
Do it.
Next question.
I do think it's a good question.
Felipe agrees.
Thank you.
Here's a question, and you're asking the same question, so I'm going to answer it, from Brie Nell.
Brianiel.
Dude, Doug, you talked so many things in your Bronco review, so many good things in your Bronco review, but you're opting for a wrangler.
What changed?
Yeah.
That's a good question.
Here's what happened.
There.
Yeah.
I went over to the Bronco dealership, Ford.
Yeah.
And I don't just want a Bronco.
I want something special.
Good at Philson.
I want like a cool special.
Like all my cars are like, they're not, I just don't buy like,
Sasquatch.
I don't buy like the LX model like he would.
There's so many special versions of the Bronco.
Are you nuts?
So I went in there and the only truly special Bronco is the Raptor.
Yep, which is cool.
And the Raptor is so grossly over the top,
ridiculous over proportion absurd for me.
I can't pull it off.
Look up one.
It's an unbelievable presence on the road.
It's just absolutely...
It's absolutely not normal.
It's so wide and so ridiculous and so absurd.
And so I was like, I can't do this.
But Jeep's over here, and this is the really cool thing
about our American freedom.
Jeep's over here
selling Rangler 392s
that look completely
identical to
every other Jeep. There is no
possible way to tell them apart
the hood scoop except for the hood bulge.
And the gold accents, by the way, for 26,
they don't even have those anymore. It's just
the hood and the quad exhaust, but
obviously when you start it up you can tell two because of the sound
but that's true of the Raptor too.
So... Quadraxels does it have quad exhaust? Or dual exhaust,
whatever. It's a second pipe. Yeah.
And so the other thing
is the Jeep has a V8, and the Bronco,
with 470 horsepower,
the Bronco has a,
number of sharks,
with 4 and 20 horsepower.
So I get 50 more horsepower.
I get subtlety.
I get a V8.
This is the easiest decision of my life.
And you get Stalantus quality.
And by the way,
the jeeps are $20,000 cheaper.
You can get a 392 Wrangler
all day long for $75,000 right now,
and those Bronco Raptors start at 80,
but like, I didn't see one with the sticker on the 90s.
Do we need a raptor though?
Why not just get like a Sasquatch or Badlands?
It's not like,
I want like a,
a special.
Remember they're going to do Senators?
Never happened.
Yeah.
I think about it all the time.
Would that have changed it for you?
Yeah.
Senators would be sick.
And I don't understand why they didn't do it because how hard could that have been really?
They had a lot of production issues with their top too, remember?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's why I'm getting a Wrangler.
And I can't wait.
You're getting this Wrangler next summer.
Next spring, like six months.
Yeah, I'm not doing it right now.
But it's already happening.
And Nick's aware of it.
There you go.
I think those are we have to stop there.
We're way over time.
I think you got to stop there.
I really appreciate your presence on the podcast.
So kind.
You, let's go start looking for that bird.
Quick, quick reminder, if you have questions,
put them in the comments below and the pin comment on YouTube.
Hey, Nick, I got a bird for you.
