And welcome to this car pod.
I'm Filippo.
I'm Nick.
Kenan's out today.
We got a lot to covers.
Let's start with the big news story.
Our Euro road trip is live.
Folks, if you haven't seen,
we did a road trip where we took our cars to Paris, California.
Yeah.
And the Nix multipla A2,
Felipe's 500A Barth.
We did that.
There's a great video on the Cars and Bids YouTube channel.
I'm told it's hilarious.
I've only watched part of it.
I can't wait to see it.
It's also that's just video one.
There's going to be two more coming.
Two more coming.
The cars are for sale.
Indeed.
I find it interesting that we're selling the cars prior to all of the videos going live.
Like the auctions will end and then people will buy the cars,
but then later there may be videos that the people...
All the videos come out while the auctions are still live.
It's a 10-day auction, a special treat for us, Cars and Bids Insiders.
We're really milking the system here.
I'm a little bit anxious about the fact that both the multiply and the A2 are at 6-9.
which is obviously a joke bid, but I believe that is their value, if not more than their value.
Whoever put that bid in is going to regret it because he or she will end up with the cars.
I'm not another.
We spent, oh, it's $8,000 on the multiple now.
We're good.
Oh, hey.
When are we all right, then it's sold.
That is for sure.
No, they got a waste to go.
We paid more than that for you.
Nick and I have some sort of.
Yeah, we paid more than that.
We radically overpaid for both of these cars so we could do a Euro road trip with them.
Oh, that's an interesting point.
And it's great.
Go watch it, even though I myself have not.
By the time you've seen this, I will have watched it.
I saw it for the first time this morning when it went live.
So good.
Super happy with how it came out.
I saw the first 10 minutes.
It was really funny.
We were all a little silly and out there.
I'm getting dragged in the comments, rightfully so,
for being a typical American.
What they don't know is that then in the next video,
you're going drag racing.
What they also don't know is,
jean ma'amapel Nicolas Ranchon.
Nope, nope, move on.
Move on, move on, move on.
Eurocar road trip, go watch it.
The Cars and Bids YouTube channel.
We're going to talk more about it next week,
but it's a great, it's a great video series with great cars.
Felipe is finally going to rid himself of his 500 of Barth.
Thank God.
It's gone.
And I'm so glad the A2 and the Multiple will also be gone.
The office will be rid of these vehicles.
Sad.
A lot fewer Italian vehicles once they're gone.
Don't buy these cars, by the way.
They're all bad.
Definitely buy them.
And also buy the multipla.
It's the best of the three.
It is my favorite of the three.
I knew my wife was like, Doug is going to talk down on your multiply.
Do not let him do it.
And you know what?
I forgot to talk to you before the pods.
I'm telling you now the multiply is a gem.
It's the only one in the country and it is worth at least 40, 50 grand.
So here's the deal.
So Felipe doesn't really care anymore just wants his car gone.
I didn't buy the E2.
The company bought it so I don't care what it says for.
I care.
The only person who cares about the sale prices car is Nick.
And Nick and I have a bet going about what we think it's going to be.
But I'm not going to share the bet.
because I don't want people to overbid.
We don't promote betting markets here.
Right.
God knows, unless one of them sponsors.
Then we're all over it.
Haggerty did sponsor the series, which is really fantastic.
And they insure two of the cars,
so they will be happy when they sell
and they're potentially off the books.
I don't know if we're allowed to talk about.
Sean's probably going to yell at me later,
but I'm so glad we have Haggerty as a sponsor.
Yeah, that's great.
Like, I literally have been a Haggerty customer.
I spend thousands of dollars with Haggerty every minute.
And now you indirectly get some of that back.
Get any of it back.
I don't get any.
I use all of your sponsors.
If someone wants to give a free t-shirt, like Dodge at Bear Jackson,
I have underwear from a, I think I have chubbies I'm going to wear tonight in the hot tub.
The next news story is sponsored by Nick Rochon's YouTube channel, which is Tesla is killing off the ex.
It's actually kind of a dystopian story because it's not Tesla who's killing off the S&EX.
A robot has come to kill.
These cars.
Honestly, that's what's happening.
Tesla has said literally what's happening.
They need the production line capacity to build a humanoid robots.
Now, what they didn't say is that the Model S came out in 2012
and has received a single refresh in 2017
and has been the same.
And the Model X came out in 2016
and hasn't really been refreshed ever.
The Model S, they changed the front.
That was the refresh.
I'm sure they've said there have been other ones,
but we all know there was one refresh.
We all agree there's one.
The Model S, I believe, I haven't looked this up,
but I really think it might be the older.
this new car on sale. The Challenger is gone. The charger is gone, the old bodies. Is the Chevy
Express still on sale? The McCann came out after, so yeah. Is the, the Frontier Express is?
The Express is technically dead, but... Is the Express still on sale or not? It's dead? What about the
GMC Savannah? I believe they're both dead. I think you're right. You could still buy the
Econnelline chassis trucks, so maybe that is, but... The Model S, though, was so far ahead of
its time when it came out that it was able to have this long generation, which is 15-year
Wow.
However, it is gone, the X has gone.
You know, a couple of interesting things about this.
To me, the most interesting thing,
like, what killed them ultimately
was that they did the exact same products, but cheaper.
And I was making this point to Rvian yesterday.
Like, the R2 is...
Ravian's small SUV that's coming.
Like an R1S, but littler.
And ultimately, like, the Model X, once the Y came out,
the X was really only selling to people
who absolutely needed the space.
Yep, or one of the doors.
Yeah.
But three-row SUVs.
are huge, bigger.
Like, I think a revised Model X could do well.
I think the Model S, maybe you let the big sedan market.
Yeah, my problem with the X and with the Rivians is that, like, the Range Rover,
you buy it, it looks totally different.
Yeah.
Like, compared to a Valar or a Discovery or an invoke, like the Range Rover looks like real.
The X, it's hard to tell.
A normal person can't tell the difference between a Y and an X.
A normal person.
We can't.
I agree, although, like, Audi is also famous for all their models.
looking very similar to slightly different.
And the A8 is dead.
Yeah, and how's that worked for them?
The A6 and the A8 are both dead in the water.
A lot of companies think having a similar design language is a good thing.
A different packaging.
You want three rows.
You want two rows.
You want big.
You want medium.
You want small.
I think I'm surprised that they're discontinuing the SUV.
The big sedan is not a surprise.
I think the reason it's not surprising is that they've been out for a long time.
They're frankly very stale.
They're not selling that well.
But you refresh it.
You remodel.
And they don't want to invest in it, which I get.
Because I think they want to invest in it.
I think the truth is what they find is that there's not a huge market for this vehicle
because other than the third row, it's indistinct and it's really expensive.
And also coming out with another one does not help their stock price, saying that they're going to build humanoid robots.
What is the market for the robots?
Dude, you don't want a humanoid robot?
No.
Remember the two-door taxi?
That's a two-door taxi.
Remember in Westland?
The kind of big brain stuff this company.
Whistlin bought one and like taught it to attack things.
The robot?
Run around with a sword.
It was amazing.
Whistlin arrested again.
I know.
I know.
Anyway, X and S are dead.
No surprise for those who have been following the history.
I agree with you, not surprising, especially about S.
Yeah.
The big sedan market is slow.
This car was a huge deal when it came out.
I just recorded a video of the most impactful cars in last 30 years.
That's one of them.
And I put that as number one.
Spoiler alert.
Subscribe so you don't miss it.
Don't you think that that, like...
Yeah, yeah, 100%.
That car changed the world.
The Prius might be more, but you said...
That was number two.
O3.
20 years?
The O3 Prius, specifically.
That car changed, changed the absolute.
But Tesla now pairs down.
We have just the three in the Y.
Also, are they investing that heavily in any...
I do wonder where their R&D dollars are going.
The three came out with refreshed.
Will there be a next generation?
They're kind of coming to the end of that timeline.
They should have one in progress if they're really set.
Why do you think the company of that timeline?
This car lasted...
I mean, the three came out in 18, didn't it?
So this was six years after.
So they got six more years of the three.
It's hard for Tesla because their design language is this very specific thing.
And they can't really deviate.
And so it's like, where do we go from here?
The tech is already what the tech is.
Eventually, they'll need to redesign it, maybe,
unless they're going to like an iPhone S
where there's some small changes.
Maybe here's a counterpoint.
Maybe Tesla just gives up on the car biz.
Maybe they're like, we made our point, we're out.
I say this, I know it's laughable to say this right now,
but they've given, like, the self-driving thing
is no longer class leading.
The giant screen everybody has.
They've given up their supercharger network to everybody else.
They've got the charging ports and charging standard.
Like, there's not really,
Maybe Tesla just quietly over the next 10 years just says,
we killed it, we changed the world,
now we're going to walk away and let everyone else handle it.
Yeah, that's what companies are a $2.3 trillion market cap do.
Then you move on to humanoid robots.
Well, yeah, that's actually a problem.
That's the next frontier.
SpaceX and XAI, which is the AI arm of X, I guess,
are joining forces to be a common single company.
I just don't see what Tesla has anymore that is like that big of a deal.
Well, the Model Y was the best selling car in the world,
last year. Okay, so they have the best-selling car in the world. But other than that,
no, you get my point, though. Like the advantages, what Tesla for years had these
massive advantages over all these other car companies. And like, they got to innovate.
And I get not wanting to, if they do want to continue in the car industry, not just do
cybercabs. Yeah. We need to see like a real, something real like these cars. I wouldn't invest
in these. I would reinvest in the next generation model three, next generation model Y.
Yeah, right. That's where the market side is. Those are global cars that sell really well.
Okay. It's still interesting to see these beloved cars canceled.
And speaking of canceled, apparently, Porsche is considering cutting their electric sports car entirely.
This has been a crazy arc on this podcast.
We're at episode 97.
The first episode is, oh, the boxer's going to go away.
Then eventually the boxer is gone.
And then eventually, oh, now they're thinking about maybe doing a plug-in hybrid or a gas one alongside an electric one.
Now here we are.
The electric one is dead.
And by the way, Porsche is thinking about canceling it.
It's dead.
The news articles around it are basically it has,
there have been mounting costs to get the platform to where they want it to be
and to get the car to where they want it to be.
So I imagine they're pretty deep in production.
And despite all these costs, it's still undesirable.
Like, no matter how much money you spend on this thing,
ain't nobody want it.
Yep.
Kind of like your shirt, honestly.
What are it?
Apparently, good for that price.
They have been, we talked to a month, two months ago about maybe there'll be a plug-in hybrid version.
Adding that to this platform,
seem like it's been really difficult.
They're just considering scrapping it entirely.
Give us a flat six.
That's right.
I mean, even like a boxer has to have it.
Remox and all that for a million dollars plus
Peninifurita, Batista.
Although I did drive it on Cyberster.
Oh, yeah?
Just like your granddaddy's old MG.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The turn signals were.
Big fan.
There was.
Yeah, they were.
I'm not surprised by this at all.
No.
Bring back to flat six.
You could win all the enthusiasts back with a 983,
that has a flat
technically the 718 was the 982
yeah you could bring them all back
with a flat 6 and just say
we're coming back baby
everybody's everybody would be into it
the boxer doesn't surprise me as much but you're saying all
evy so like the macon no no just the mid-engined sport
or just the mid-engined sport was formerly the mid-engin sports car
it is being rumored that they are getting rid of are evi v's mid-engine
and they're naturally aspirated
that's the thing everybody's all up on these n-a-car
N-A cars, all the big old, remember, the Model S, Plaid is the fastest naturally S-plac.
I have a real question.
So, like, you normally define it about where it is relative to the axles.
But the motors usually are on the axles or on the wheels.
Yeah.
Mid-engine?
Front-endium?
I think at this point, you would define it based on, like, the weight distribution and, like,
the feel.
So it depends on the car.
Because all the batteries are in the floor.
The batteries are in the middle.
Yeah.
They're all mid-engine.
In a way.
It's a mid-engine sports car.
In a way, I think that as a result of that, electric lends itself kind of
okay to a pretty good.
The batteries are, they tend to be low,
so they keep the center of gravity low,
and they tend to be in the middle.
Yeah.
And instant torque.
Yeah.
Audi would not get their complaints
about the weight being too far forward with the TV.
No, there are benefits to it.
And that Hyundai now shifts gears, which is great.
All right, these are probably dead.
Goodbye.
Goodbye and good and riddons.
No.
No, I legitimately did it.
You're the only one,
I know.
And you never would have spent the money on it.
Without a singular doubt.
Now it would have cost 90 grand after all the supplier is.
No doubt.
Next to, next story.
Oh, speaking of dead, this surprises nobody, but the Lexus LC is dead.
Shame.
After one more year or something like that.
This year, I don't know.
This car.
Could have been.
This car is special.
Yeah.
Could have been.
This car is going to go down as special.
And it will.
It's an NAVA.
It is beautiful.
They didn't sell many of them.
This car is going to go.
down as a special special car. It's the Mark 4 Supra of our generation. You give it 20 years, 25 years,
but in that time, this car will go down as a truly special car. It still looks like a concept car.
Still looks like a concept car. I actually think that, you know, when they left remote touch
and went to normal screen, it's those that are going to be the most desired. There's like a three,
there's going to be three model years of really desirable LC. They're all going to be desirable
except for the hybrid ones, but this car is going to be special someday. It is. By that same logic,
Looking at the previous model.
The 60-400.
The, like, 90s, the C-400.
It would also be so.
It's a beautiful car with a V8.
It's different.
No.
That's not really a performance car.
This was the last NAV-8.
It was a real fast car.
The Lexus SC, despite enthusiasts, claiming that the first-gen wasn't, has always
been a soft luxury car.
This car is going to be special.
I think it was a soft luxury car.
Have you driven?
Are you nuts?
But the people that you do see driving them, you assume it's comfortable enough for
their 80-plus.
driving a 9-11?
Who do you see driving a 9-11?
You call that a soft luxury car?
I haven't seen someone under 90 driving a new 9-11 in 15 years.
Seems like 50-year-old women?
The average buyer age of a new 9-11 has got to be 77 years old.
This car is a special car, and I think it's going to go down, especially those last few model years, the best improvements, losing remote touch.
You're right, though, that it's going to take a while.
It's not going to be in a couple of years.
I'd be like 20 years.
If you've paid attention to values for these already, they're already okay.
This car is already, like, yeah, like early used ones are still, like, in the 50s valuable cars.
And the market is already appreciating this car for what it is.
It's always going to be a small group of people, but as the hybrids come and the plug-in hybrids and all this dumb stuff...
Ignore the hybrid one of these.
I ignore the hybrid one.
All the buyers did.
I also like that they came in cool colors.
Cool colors.
Bright yellow ones are going to be like...
20 years from now, someone's going to be like, I'm going to have a bright yellow V-A.
last of the last Toyota Lexus.
On Cars and Bids, 2055.
This will be a huge, huge.
2055, I'll come back to episode 97.
What do you think is going to age better at this or the LFA?
This is already aged better than the LFA.
It looked better than the LFA from Dave 1.
It drives better.
It's better in every single way.
It's a 15th of the price.
We're doing well.
The LFA has slightly better sound.
Yeah, the LFA sounds better.
I mean, I'm sure there's other things that the LFA.
It's got more letters in its name.
I mean, there's other dumb stuff that the LFA.
This car was always a better Halo car.
Just at the end of the day, the market simply isn't really there for a Lexus coupe,
no matter how good it was.
This car goes down as a very special car.
Buy your LC-500s, folks.
Enjoy them.
You got one more year.
A reliable.
I mean, look at ISFs.
That car's 15 years old, 20 years old.
They have retained their value.
It doesn't mean they've appreciated.
I'm not saying it's going to go crazy appreciation.
You would have been sitting on this pod being like, the Mark 4 Supero will never be worth anything.
Just like that.
It's an interesting point.
You would have said that about it.
all these cars.
You know, we got a Z-32 over there.
You ever driven one of this?
No.
We're going to find out how it is.
How much it's worth.
It's amazing.
It's an incredible nice one.
This basement is stacked right now with cool stuff.
Also, it's stacked with low mile 90s and, like, in early 2000s cars.
Between, we got an 04 STI down here with 875 miles.
We got a Z-32 twin turbos 300 ZX with 6800 miles.
And then we have an NSX with 321,000.
That's a good point.
You know what?
I learned recently.
I got the approval for my multiple auction,
and it only is 136,000 miles.
I'd never done the calculation from kilometers,
and I was like, wow, that's pretty good.
In middle school, a formative time in my life,
I ran track and field, and a girl looked at me.
Then another girl looked at her friend and said,
don't look at him, he's got chicken legs.
Well, not with Chubbies.
Chubbies accentuates my thighs and legs
in a way that makes me not look like chicken legs,
but like a muscular man.
The fit is just on.
Unreal. Four-way stretch that works as well swimming laps as it does lounging poolside.
They feel broken in, and yeah, my legs look good. And this is a big one. Chubbies is celebrating 15 years.
The original shorts at the fine proper length shorts are back. Same iconic fit, same comfort first design, same thigh-high confidence that built the brand.
With over 2.6 million customers that clearly know how to keep the vibes high and thighs happy.
For a limited time, Chubbies is giving our listeners 20% off.
with code Doug at chubby shorts.com.
That's 20% off with code Doug.
Give your thighs the VIP treatment they deserve with Chubbies.
And support the show while you're at it.
Say goodbye to chicken legs, chubbies.com.
All right, move on to the next new story.
I'm going to miss you LLC 500.
New S class.
It's been refreshed.
New S class.
Much like the Tesla Model S,
it has undergone a lot of changes, as Ryan might argue.
This is more changes than the Model S ever asked.
It looks really subtle at first, but literally everything is different.
The steering wheel, there's more screens.
Specifically, the S-Class is finally getting the HyperS
Screen, which had debuted in EQS.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't remember what the latest is on EQ, whether they're completely canceling it or
roaring it back.
It'll change tomorrow, whatever we say.
But either way, the Hyperscreen has now made its way into the X-Lexam.
Also, heated seatbelt.
Heated seatbelt.
The hood emblem is illuminated.
There's a lot of, like, a lot of good gimmicks, for lack of a better word.
But they've taken this car and this platform so far.
There's really no room for improvement.
Like they've won the race.
They've climbed Kilimajaro.
Where do you go from here?
Alex Honnold climbing up that building in Taiwan or wherever.
I do think about this a lot.
Like, you know, it's funny.
Like we've been talking about the death of the large luxury sedans.
AccurRL, Jaguar XJ, AudiAA, like they're, LXS, they're all slowly.
Yep.
Not this one.
The S class is more than a car, though.
It's a brand.
It's like a whole lifestyle.
At one point, when I worked for Porsche, I remember the head of product planning told me,
BMW is known for the 3 series,
Mercedes is known for the S-Class.
It's a little different now because the SUVs have come,
but Mercedes is still like the S-class.
And when all the other luxury sedans are dead,
this will still be, you know, prevailing amongst them all.
Do we like the new headlights?
I think it looks great.
Yeah, I agree.
I think it looks nicely updated.
I think it's attracted.
Oddly, a lot of people online sort of were mixed on the reaction.
Every single time a new car is shown for the first time,
people online complain about it.
Every time without a show.
I agree.
But this is, to me, a pretty incremental difference.
It is.
You have to have them right next to each other to tell the difference.
So for people to be like, oh, it's awful.
It's like, it's barely noticeable.
Barely noticeable, but I do think there will probably be minor.
The current S-class is one of the great cars that I have.
It's amazing.
And there's an E-performance version with 850 horsepower,
12-100 pound feet of torque that's going to be 38 grand in six years.
It is such a great product range.
It's such a great car.
And now it's got heated seatbelts.
And please buy one new to the Nick can buy it for 30 grand in six years.
The heated seatbells, by the way.
So, you know, heated armrest, heated steering wheel, heated seats.
Heated seabels are new.
Yep.
They also have a safety benefit.
Can you guess what it is?
They keep you warm so that you do not freeze to death in your S class.
Yeah.
They keep you warm so you can remove your coat and outer layers,
and so the seat belts fits more snugly.
The giant heating system in the car doesn't have that benefit,
but the heated seat.
Correct.
I'm not joking.
That was part of their PR.
That's the kind of dumb crap that people repeat on Reddit in 20 years.
No, it also did this.
It's like the, remember those taillights that were the horizontal stacked taillights on the 124s and stuff?
They had those little cutouts supposedly to dissipate dirt.
Yeah.
People still repeat that.
It has never made any sense.
And by the way, Mercedes stopped doing it.
So if they were so good at dissipating dirt, you think they would have kept it up?
Well, people are still like, no, it's there to dissipate dirt.
Okay, move on the next news story.
The AccurterterX being canceled.
You don't think this is a big news story.
I think this is a massive news story.
It's their only car, the hottest segment.
What percentage of sales is the RDX?
Accura sales.
Accura sold last year, the MDX, the ADX briefly, the TL.
Okay, I didn't ask you to name the Accuras.
But good job.
30% of Accura sales is the RDX, and they are canceling in a not return.
Wait, was that right?
Yeah, it's also on the pod dock.
So, you know, what a surprise.
No one reads that.
So the record, it is not.
But it
cut this part out.
I will not have my integrity questioned.
Integra is the accurate you forgot, by the way.
Yeah.
30% of Accura sales last year or the RDX, they're canceling.
Now, they're bringing it back in 28 as a hybrid.
But I thought this was interesting.
Can you imagine Lexus or Mercedes being like,
we'll be back in two years with the S class.
We'll be back in two years with the RX.
Subaru, we'll be back in two years with the Outback.
I think that this, even though it's a minor thing,
is kind of an illustration of how Honda views Accura
and the level of investment and interest they have
in continuing this brand.
And they claim they have enough inventory
to sell through the end of this year,
and then they're going to take a little break.
Yeah, it's also.
Yeah, I know.
And then they're going to come out with the new one.
And it's like, this is, you don't have a small,
mid-sized crossover.
Like, this is it.
Also, you can just kind of slow down production.
If you have enough inventory, nobody needs to know.
They're coming out,
and I don't know exactly which what's made
what factory, but they're coming out with a brand new mid-sized electric crossover.
Are they?
The RSX, remember?
Yes.
Which will be dead in the water.
Which we've seen during Carweek last year.
Yeah.
Well, no one is going to buy that.
Yep.
And the theory is Accur has been in the press.
Oh, we're canceling the RDX, but we're confident we're going to improve year-over-year in sales.
Oh, yeah, but the RSX, you're going to sell six.
The ADX is what's kind of fell.
I saw one on the road.
I was shocked.
This, you cannot get away with the RDX and the MDX are the core.
And the concept that Honda feels that it's like, okay, to take a two-year gap, I would be livid if I was an Acura dealer.
Absolutely livid that this is happening.
Yes.
Remember when automakers would just extend the other product line to overlap?
Yeah.
The Malibu Classic.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I do wonder about whether we should start an Accura death watch.
We've been critical of Honda on this podcast for being conservative with their vehicles.
Yeah.
And they have this great core product thing.
And then they're afraid to invest outside that.
It's starting to get to a point, though, where it's becoming detrimental.
Like, they are literally leaving, it used to be like they don't want to try too much because they might lose money.
Now they're literally leaving stuff on the table.
And if they don't think Accura is a viable brand, this is how you signal it.
Agreed.
It's insane to cancel your largest segment car at the 30% of your volume.
30% of your volume.
MDX is probably another 30, 40%.
It feels like killing it would be too, like, assertive a decision by Honda.
They got it's counter to that.
Time off.
I know this is not a major news story.
The RDX is not really an enthusiast car,
but it does speak to me again about Honda's being too conservative
and again about whether the Accura brand really truly lasts.
I didn't realize Accura is only selling about 140,000 cars a year.
It's really not a strong.
What's odd, though, is compared to the Nissan and Infinity situation,
Honda's brand is incredibly strong.
Yeah.
And I still think for Normie's, Accura's brand is really strong
because it's a deviant or variation of Honda.
And Honda has so much love for its dependability.
I truly think if Honda really invested hard in Accura, they could have a pretty successful brand.
Honestly, I don't even think they need to work that hard at it.
Just take the Honda products and badge engineer them.
Like, it's fine.
Like, I want an Accura pilot.
My wife would drive that.
The MDX exists.
Yeah, that is the MDAX.
Oh, okay.
Well, then we'll look at that.
They need more product.
It's a good looking car.
They need more product for sure.
And they've had some false starts thinking, oh, the Integra is going to work.
Oh, you know, this and that.
They definitely just need to be in more segments with SUVs.
And I think that they're having trouble.
BMW can get away with it because they make cool cars that people want to get.
If Accura making eight SUVs is probably not likely.
Nonetheless, there is something here that is better than what is happening.
And it's interesting to me that they're not even willing to put investment in a continuing this very popular car.
It's also shame.
The RDX is a dated product.
I get why they don't want to sell it anymore.
Have you seen the interior?
Yeah, it is pretty long.
But that's true of all Honda interiors.
Have you seen an Odyssey interior, dude?
Yeah, it's not.
It came out of the same year.
But the Civic is so competitive, incredibly.
competitive. The core competitive product. For now. The CRV is still a competitive product.
Are you kidding? The pilot is a brand new product. They've invested in their core lineup,
except for the Accura RDX interior, which still has a screen and like a giant center console.
Both of those cars have old interiors. They are not putting the investment in Accura.
Again, I wonder if we should be starting an Accura infinity death watch. Initially was just an
infinity death watch. We're watching the clock on that. Now we add Accura.
Move on the next news story. Oh! This is a C8 Corvette. That might be indeed.
It's like a boomer gallery.
That might be, that might be a Corvette Grandsport in Admiral Blue, which was the color, the C4 Grandsport, with the same stripes.
Well, the, the, the, the, the stripe on the C4 was in the front, but okay.
Okay, you got to make the look over the car.
Apparently, there's going to be a grand sport coming for the 2027 model year.
Okay.
There's some, somebody saw it doing some testing.
And there's talk that it will have a new LS.
Correct.
There's talks that it will have a new naturally aspirated 6.7 liter L.S.
is what apparently they're calling it.
We've already had an LS6.
You think they're going to bring back the LS6?
There'll be another.
I don't know.
You know, who knows?
Yeah.
They're updated LSX, which would be called the LSX, apparently.
409 cubic inches.
They expect about 550 horsepower.
So, like, between the current regular stingray and the E-ray.
You know, the C-8, don't look now, but the C-8 has been on sale for six years.
Yeah.
General Motors, who we've been a little,
critical of from time to time has done an amazing job of keeping this car relevant.
They have. Yeah. The ZR1X, there's still people clamoring, knocking down my door,
trying to get a ZR1X video. Then there's going to come out with another version of it.
Yep, which, by the way, Gransport was always kind of an end-of-the-line car, so you kind of want to...
Yeah, C-7 Graspboard would end, too. C-4. But, man, the C-8 still feels,
like, hot. Yep. Like, still.
Yep. It truly does. It still is competitive in the segment also.
Yeah.
A very compelling car to this day.
Yes.
Like really good to drive even six years later.
Yep.
Also, they're getting a little.
They've retained value by Corvette standard, but they're getting a little more.
What do they sell them?
Pull up some C8s.
We sell some C8s lately.
We've sold some C8s.
What are we got?
What are they selling?
We've tried to sell some C8s.
Okay, 59 for a 20 with 19,000 miles.
Around 60.
I mean, that was modified.
That was modified.
Here's unmodified convertible for 60-ish.
60.
Coops in the 50.
60, honestly, is holding its value pretty damn well for a six-year-old.
I mean, what were C-7s doing in 20?
I mean, for context, this 20-24 had an 81 sticker now in the mid-50s of some amount.
That's pretty solid.
I'm into the C-8 still.
I've loved it since the day it came out.
You know what?
I'm going to say something controversial.
I don't even think it looks bad.
I think it looks good.
And soon, it'll be a new engine and a new...
Mueller?
I don't know.
And the Grant's also cool just because I feel.
I feel like to some ways appeals to the younger audience.
Like we all played video games with the C4 Grants for.
Like I'm excited for this.
Like I'm not your typical Corvette buyer.
Man, what if they did a manual?
Oh, that'd be so cool.
Can I just say the ERA is an appealing vehicle?
ERA's apeak.
The market does not agree.
Market hates it, no surprise.
But it's an appealing vehicle.
The performance numbers on ERA are unbelievable.
And also, personally, I think it might be the best looking.
Yeah.
It's just like a very simple, clean look that like the ZO6 is obviously more exciting and
desirable as a car, but you start adding stuff that really kind of detract from, the ERA is nice.
Also, electric motor.
The Grand Sport is supposed to be more like a 9-11R, right?
Like the driver-focused.
It's always been more like-
A crarrity, maybe, like it's a stripped down.
Driver-focused without kind of necessarily some of the crazy power.
Yeah.
I call it GTS.
It's probably where it would land in the 9-11-11.
It feels very Porsche equivalent in terms of like they're really developing from just the 9-11
to like a full lineup of special vehicles and-all-all-all-of-all-all-which are desirable.
And the Corvette people are the same way as the Porsche people about options and stickers and final.
And are apparently willing to pay huge money.
I mean, the 01 and 01X are like real money cars.
Also insane performance.
Insane and insane.
Excited for this if it happens.
Week nights in my house are chaos.
Juggling work, dog walks, activities, maybe a workout if I'm lucky.
And then suddenly at 6.30 and my wife is asking what's for dinner.
That's why we've been using every plate.
It takes the thinking, the arguing, and the grocery store sticker shock.
completely out of weeknight cooking.
The ingredients show up pre-portioned,
the recipes are simple,
and dinners on the table in about 30 minutes,
without turning the kitchen into a disaster zone.
And the menu is way better than you'd expect for the price.
Stuff like crispy buffalo ranch chicken,
caramelized onion smash burgers,
plus more chicken dishes, more veggie-forward options,
and tons of global flavors.
They've got over 35 choices every week,
so you're not stuck rotating the same three meals.
And the best part is the cost.
Every plate is cheaper than the grocery store,
and about half the price of takeout, with straightforward pricing and no surprises.
And it actually worked for real life.
Three out of four customers says it gets kids to try new foods, and almost everyone says it makes dinner way less stressful.
Which, yeah, I believe it.

Next one story, please.
Nick, you see this?
Another entry to the Gullet Pool.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz
is being canceled.
This has not been confirmed yet, but I'm going to confirm
it right here right now.
Based on the sales numbers.
Can I read you what they said in a release to motor one?
The Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle continues to be a valued ongoing member of the Hyundai product.
Well, they got to keep selling.
A valued, that sounds like a performance improvement plan for an underperforming employee.
We do not comment on a few.
They also then said that this car helped them develop the new mid-sized body on frame truck.
We thank you for its contributions and wish it a soft landing wherever it may end up next.
We'll write it a letter of recommendation.
So yeah, it's going to be that.
You'll continue to get benefits for the next one to two miles.
You'll give a cobra.
The Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz was cool.
And honestly, I think it was pretty desirable.
Yeah.
I always knew this would be its fate.
Everyone who's ever tried to mess around with something that is a non-standard pickup truck has ended up not.
The ridgeline.
The original ridge line, like the Baja, like this was always going to happen.
The Maverick was, they came out like the exact same time, and the Maverick was always a much more practical, realistic
large sales number vehicle, whereas this was always more of a lifestyle car.
One of their pitches, though, about this was that the entire front end is basically a Tucson,
and so it probably didn't, like, it probably wasn't that difficult to develop.
So, I'm into it.
Also, they sold 155,000 Mavericks in 2025, 25,000.
Yeah, it was never intended to be that level.
The pricing was very different.
That's not bad.
25,000 is it?
It's not that bad.
If your Hyundai, it's not worth it.
Also, they're coming out with a body on frame mid-site.
Ultimately, the big news is that Hyundai is canceling this to make way for,
much like the original Hyundai Genesis kind of made way for the Genesis brand.
Like there's always, with the Koreans, there's always seems to be like a little toe dip into the pool
before that you like cannon volley.
I could have gone.
I'm so glad Nick didn't say that.
Unairable.
It's true, though.
Like, they've done this in a lot.
There's been a lot of ways that this has happened, right?
Like the big Genesis and then there was the G9 is, then it became a brand.
The Hyundai Veracruz and then they came out with the Palisade.
Like there's all these like, we're going to try this and see how it goes,
and then we're going to try to do it actually like big.
And the next one will be the thing.
You know what?
The only brand that I think did this well, the Ford Explorer Sport Track.
Yeah?
It was kind of like a...
Which they followed up with with what?
Well, they did it.
I thought that car was cool.
It was desirable.
It was like compelling.
It was hot.
At the time it was hot.
The avalanche has probably exists because of it.
The avalanche definitely exists because of it.
That whole segment was spawned at that time and the sport track started it all.
However, I would argue that eventually it had this.
same fate, which was like, you can't do much with it, and eventually you just have to...
The ridgeline, though?
Still exists?
Well, but the second-genre, the second-gen-ridge line is very different from the first-
year.
Oh, wow.
At every single measurable way.
The first one was cooler.
Yeah.
They didn't sell many.
Nope.
Santa Cruz dead.
Door handles alive.
No, no.
Well, dead, maybe.
China has banned the style of door handles popularized by Tesla, where they're hidden and
electronic only.
So basically, what they've actually done is they've mandated that starting in 2027,
all vehicles must have mechanical releases inside and out for door handles.
Is this a safety feature?
Yes. They've had a couple of pretty high profile crashes where the car then lost power entirely,
and they couldn't open the doors.
Like first responders couldn't open the doors at all.
Passiers inside couldn't open the doors.
So I'm a little confused.
So the model S, the door handle, you walk up to the car, they pop out.
Yeah.
In this door handle, which is from a Model Y, it doesn't do that, but it is electronic.
You push part of it.
But I think it's not mechanical.
Yeah, it's definitely electronic.
So there would need to be like a mechanical, right?
You pull it further and then it'll.
Which is, by the way, how some work on the-
automakers have been going crazy experimenting
with all sorts of different door handle technology,
in part because shaving the door handle,
which essentially is what this does,
is an arrow benefit.
And by having this be a thing,
I wonder what effect that will have on future door handles.
Probably truly some.
If we go back to normal door handles again.
I mean, you can still have them be mostly hidden
or like have a little bit of a spot where you can grab it,
or some third or second door.
handle that allows for that.
I get it from a safety process.
There's also been some high profile ones in the U.S.
and I wouldn't be shocked if the U.S.
follows suit in their own way.
I'm going to tell you one thing.
You know what, car had electronic door handles first?
C6 Corbett.
Maybe the C5.
With an interior mechanical release and an exterior mechanical release.
Yeah, I don't actually know if they were first.
People are going to be like, no, actually, such and such was first.
But I remember, like, in the C6, it was like, this is a bizarre.
Like, you push a button to get out?
Like, whoa!
It was wild.
There have been real issues with these, and so it's not a surprise.
It's not great.
Tesla, interestingly, in the front doors, does have a mechanical release.
In the rear doors, does not have a mechanical release.
And in some other cars, I think the Machu is one of these.
There is a mechanical release, but you have to remove a portion of the door panel.
Which maybe if your car's on fire isn't something.
We'll have to read the Chinese regulation closely to see.
Now, the reason this is a new story for us is because whatever China dictates on these cars
is going to end up affecting cars that are sold in the U.S. market, too.
I have no doubt.
Automakers aren't going to develop more.
multiple door handles, so we're going to see some changes.
One thing that I will note, people in the North are going to be celebrating this.
You know, every time these electronic pop-out door handles and electronic,
what happens when it freezes?
I mocked them, but actually, it's a good point.
Yeah, I will say, in China, 60% of the top 100-selling models have door handles that would be a impact.
I'm not surprised.
It's like the hot thing.
And basically every car, Rivians are like this.
Lucids are like this.
You know what's not like this is the Kia K4 hatchback?
Good.
We get that over there.
All right, next.
Oh, Hellcat Durango.
Hellcat Durango.
Hellcat Durango lawsuit is dead.
I read the whole thing.
It was great stuff.
So back in 20, they come out with the Hellcat Durango, which, by the way, I still think is probably my favorite Hellcat car.
I'm obsessed.
It's so cool.
100%.
Like, what the hell was that?
I remember when you reviewed it in, like, Charlotte or something.
Yeah.
Amazing situation, obviously.
Come out with the car.
And apparently there was advertising that said it was going to be limited edition.
It was the last call model.
It implied that it would only be 3,000 units.
Settily hinted.
Last call.
So people bought the car, paid over sticker because they thought it was going to be a super limited thing.
Obviously what ended up happening is they sold more of them, which I think is crazy on its face to begin with.
Did they sold more of them or there was a lawsuit?
That they continued selling them.
Like I can't believe people bought them.
I can't believe they came out with them.
I'm thrilled it exists.
So the lawsuit, the owners sued Dodge saying, hey, wait a minute, you know, you're
said you'd have a limited car.
The judge rejected that the case was dismissed entirely because the plaintiffs failed to show
that the automaker intended to break the promise at the time the original statements were made.
Boy, if only I could get that to work with my children.
Hey, listen, I know I lied to you, but I didn't intend.
When I first said it, I thought it was going to happen.
It is kind of interesting.
Basically, they didn't plan to make another one, but you have to allow the manufacturer to change their mind.
But to Tim Kineskas, who's now a guest.
in charge of Dodge said the 2021 Dodge ring is a single model year run ensuring it will be a
specialist sought after performance SUV you've only got one shot to buy one so I get I get the anger
how does the automaker get away with this is I get the anger that does sound like a used car salesman
pushing it hard then all we're going to do by many more model years I will say to Tim caniscus's
credit the 21 model year was just a single model you run but then they also did a 22 what he didn't
skip the year, right?
Yeah, I think they did.
What he didn't say was there was also going to be a 22,
22, 23, 24, 25, and 26.
But that 20, which by the way,
they were also single model year runs.
Can we be clear about it?
You only had one chance to buy a 24
Durango Hellcat.
I'm going to come to Tim Kineski's defense.
That's crazy.
He thought at the time that there was no world
that the federal administration
would allow him to sell
this incredibly poor economy,
high emission vehicle for longer than they did.
He's thinking not only...
To save that.
is Biden going to kill this car, but there is no way that anyone is even going to buy it.
Right, they're going to want the Dodge Wagoner S or the Jeep Wagoner S. And then they didn't.
The other part of this story is, do you feel bad for the people that are trying to speculate and make money off of a Durango?
Like, of course that didn't work out well for you. What did you expect?
You know what? The fair point. You know what the irony is? I bet it eventually it will work out.
Like, I look at some of these super high performance limited edition. I mean, not like the stock market. But you look at,
look at sort of the GMC Typhoon type cars
where these super limited edition, which this,
even though they made it for many more model years,
will remain a limited car.
I'm looking at track hog prices.
We just had a Durango Hellcat sell
the, on the site the other day for 55.
With mods and miles.
Yeah. Mods and miles.
Yep.
I did not intentionally call it a different site.
Like, there's still money,
and I bet you that if you truly were speculating
and you parked it and you did no miles
like people did with their demons,
what have you done?
Just keep up.
It's updating a slack.
as it requires hourly
for no reason.
Yeah, but just, I mean,
if you were advising someone to say,
become a car flipper,
here's a good asset for you to invest in,
Dodge Durango.
I mean, just like,
it is the worst advice you could have.
The only one you should do.
Get a CA, get something like a Durango.
Don't forget about the one that you should flip.
Uh-huh.
That's right.
Like, it's not illegal to be stupid.
This was a flipper car.
That was.
And the dude made Coran.
Because I reviewed it the second time.
That does great wheels.
Sorry for you Durango owners.
I totally feel your pain.
But the good news is you have a Durango Hellcat garage.
That is pretty good consolation place.
All right, next news story.
I can't believe we're still doing the news.
Toyota has teased a three row.
Nobody cares about it.
It might be a minivan, but it also might be an electric highlander.
What are we saying minivan?
Something about the door says minivan to be.
But it is almost certainly an electric highlander.
Electric Highlander is a big deal.
Or a hinder replacement in general.
Electric Highlander would be a big deal.
Toyota wasn't investing in electric.
I guess we'll find that.
But they have to be Z.
It might just be a normal highlight.
Well, what is the gear lever?
Does the gear lever show?
Is it a hybrid or electric?
It doesn't seem to have a gear lever, does it?
Right.
That's saying...
Or that could be the gear lever in the middle.
That's saying EV to me.
But re-designed Sienna would be nice.
It's not an old product.
I just don't think it looks nice.
Yeah, so I'm really supportive.
But it's the best one by far.
All right.
That's the story.
Three-row, Toyota, come and maybe.
By the way, I want to say, before everyone was the next story.
I can't believe we stopped more news.
I know, incredibly, we have one more.
Nissan today was at NADA, which is a large dealer thing,
and they showed apparently pictures of the New X-Tera.
Okay.
I've been trying to find these pictures of the New X-Tera.
So maybe we'll talk about it next week.
New X-Tera, comment.
Nissan was also talking a big game about growing 50% in sales audience.
They're planning on, not 50% next year, but they do have pretty ambitious growth.
You get down to here.
50% growth isn't that hard to do.
Yeah, I guess that's true.
And by the way, New X-Tera, you and me could make one in our garage.
Take a frontier.
You paper machet a body onto it.
This is not difficult.
It's like what they did with the Santa Cruz.
Yep.
And they've been selling $25,000 a year.
They did the opposite.
Final news story, Ford is doing something with the Chinese.
Okay, I want to move on to the Todd Cars.
I'm okay with that.
That's fine.
I want to move on to the Talk Cars segment,
which is brought to you by Nick's YouTube channel.
Nick Rochon.
Is that what it is, or is it?
Crazy Nick.
Crazy Nick would call him.
Nick Rochon.
He's got an SLR, folks.
Come on.
Subscribe.
And the SLR broke down.
It did, although it works again.
Don't tell them that.
Make them go to the video.
The SLR broke down.
What's going to happen next?
I'm going to lose.
I'm going to lose my YouTube channel.
If you're bidding on cars and bids, whether it's a pristine 90s icon like the Fiat
Multipla, a high hoarse power resto mod or manual swap Lamborghini merciolago, you already
know these aren't just used cars.
They're pieces of automotive culture.
And that's exactly why regular car insurance.
just doesn't cut it.
That's why Haggerty is the official insurance provider of cars and bids,
and they insure all of my fun cars, too.
They're enthusiasts who happen to sell insurance,
and they actually understand what makes these cars special.
Haggerty offers guaranteed value coverage,
which means you can agree on your car's value up front.
If there's a total loss, that's exactly what you get.
No depreciation, no arguing, no guessing games.
They also make claims painless.
Their dressers no classic and collector cars,
so you can choose your own specialty shop
or even get paid to do the work yourself.
And unlike standard policies,
Haggerty understands these cars are meant to be driven,
whether that's a weekend cruise,

Haggerty, never stopped driving.
Okay, I want to, in the talk car segment,
the only thing I want to discuss today, me personally,
here's the E55 Station wagon.
Okay, I'm on the hot.
Don't.
It's different from yours.
Cut it.
I'm on the hot.
Sean, make a note.
Cut.
Pull up, Felipe.
Pull up.
We never sold one that I want.
It is at $8,000, which is at $8,000.
which is way too much.
If you're thinking of jumping in,
we have an E-55-gagon.
Radically different.
But you're talking about the S-2.
I want it.
No one else's been.
You're kidding.
You never sold one that I want.
No, but I'll pull up this.
No, no, no, no.
Close enough.
I want this body.
Yeah.
E-55 wagon with a third row.
Left-hand drive.
This is...
Yeah.
Find one in the UK.
I'll consider it.
If you find a Hong Kong domestic market example, we'll talk.
I've noted because that one was right here.
So the E55 wagon on this body, so the 210 body, I need either a 2000 or a 2001, was only sold
as an E55 wagon overseas.
I want, I need one with a third row and I need to be silver, but only a post-face-lift car.
We're finding a lot of pre-face-liff cars in third rows.
I only want a 2000 or a 2001.
Now I'm going to do this like I did with the Arena 993 turbo, okay?
I'm going to start blasting it out in every pot.
I want a, yeah, send a message.
I want a 2000-2001 E-55 station wagon with a third row, okay?
Does everybody understand?
Do you understand what I'm looking for?
I understand.
And you're going to get flooded with non-examples of what you just described.
Yeah.
Different generations, different motors.
I got a pre-face-lip.
I got a black one.
No, 2000-2001 silver car with a third row, E-55 only.
We're not doing E-430s.
If you have one, Sean at Cars and Bids.com.
S-E-A-N.
at cars and bids.com.
Do you understand?
Sounds right.
And I don't, do you, don't say anything about his bad colored G wagon.
It's a, it's, we're going to move on from that today.
E55 wagon.
If it's in Europe, I don't care.
Asia, I will import it.
Find me the car.
On a related note, the E55 currently on your site,
the next generation I'm very much into.
This one is high mileage, 200, high mileage is air quotes.
Are you buying this?
I'm, I intend to potentially bid.
Wait, this is, okay.
It's got some dings on the car facts.
These are reliable cars.
It does not have a third row, but yet it's got service.
I really like this car.
I drove a different one over the past weekend.
This one has a rent-tech ECU too.
I know, I know.
And you were saying the one you drove, you didn't think was fast enough.
Well, I mean, this also was like a supercharger pulley, a couple things.
So this one, and you have a B5 RS4 on the site.
Both of them, I've never bought a car on the site, and I really want to fix that this year.
So I'm refreshing my watch.
The RS4 is a lot.
The RS4 is great.
It's owned by the, um,
founder of Vivid Racing, which was like the site.
I'm sure they're still very popular.
So it's owned by like the type of enthusiasts you want to buy from.
It's got a bunch of nice mods.
I know who we disagree on what that means,
but 034 motorsports like bushings and like minor stuff
that improves just how tight and good.
I agree.
I would put the rear wiper back on.
No, I mean, arrow, you know.
Oh, yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
Notably arrow car.
I think this is the greatest Audi of all time.
I drove one while I was in Arizona, and I loved it.
The R8 exists.
The R8 is next.
Yeah, I'll take that.
Norwegian plates.
This is, you loved it.
The problem with the R8 is everyone's like, oh, you should have got a Huracon.
There's no equivalent for the B5Rs 4.
We're like, oh, you should have gotten a cooler wagon.
Find me one.
Find me one.
Yeah, there ain't one.
There ain't one that drives better.
You enjoyed driving it?
I loved it.
It was so usable and enjoyable and pleasant, yet it had the great turbo boost and it kicked,
and you're like, yeah.
It's also just the perfect size, and by then they had dialed in the steering feel.
This is what I had wished the RS2 was when I bought it.
Yeah.
And I still think the RS2 looks better, looks cooler, is cooler.
It does not even come close to driving as well as this car.
It's not even close.
Maybe, but I think this is also aged incredibly well inside and now.
It looks on the inside, it has like the right amount of nostalgia,
but it's still a nice place to be.
On the outside, it's special enough that any person in the cars recognizes that it's not just an S4.
Totally.
I think that this is like, truly, I think the best out of the time.
One of the all-time great.
Power train is amazing.
The steering feels amazing.
I always loved even a B5A4,
but this was like the ultimate iteration of the platform.
And you know a point that someone made to me in our comments?
The press color for this car is silver.
No, really?
Sure.
Like think about all the materials, the advertisements, everything from back in the day,
it was silver.
It was not the, no, everyone wants the blue,
and the blue is like the outy color.
It's such a premium.
Yeah.
I mean, it's not like 10% more.
It's like, I know.
Tons of thousands more.
It's like 4GT heritage.
Yeah.
It's a lot to swallow.
So you're going to buy either this or the E55.
Maybe.
I don't want maybe's, Nick.
We doing this?
Well, it depends on how high the bidding goes.
Do I intend to throw my hat in the ring?
Yes.
Nick.
Have you bid on either?
Nick, go bid.
You know what?
Nick, come on.
Step up to the plate.
With the multiple going for sale,
I do suddenly feel the need to replace it with something.
And unlike the multiple, I went something with a little more power.
Yeah.
A little bit more driving dynamics.
Your only fun car right now is your SLR.
Right.
No, I mean, I think the P-30 is really fun, but in a different way.
No. No.
So your only fun car, oh, thank you.
I've been trying to push him.
I want the audience to know.
I've been trying to push him into a Diablo.
There's a Diablo for sale that is not listed, that is available to Nick, that I have been
begging him to pursue.
He's not going to do it.
He's going to regret it.
A couple years he's going to sell his SLR.
He's going to go after Diablo then.
It will be priced out.
You will not be able to afford it.
anymore, and I will rub this in your face that you could have had it.
Can we know that a Diablo and a 205,000 mile at E55 are on a different price back?
This is not important to Doug.
Yeah, but Diablos are going up in value.
What, 30x difference?
Diablos are going up in value.
Like my 4GT, right, I have made 150 grand in that car.
You're never going to make 150 grand on an E55 wagon.
But if you have a 2000 or a 2001 model, Silverwood's third row, send a, I'm so serious about this.
I will buy it today.
Sean at Carsandbids.com.
S-E-A-N, Sean, the Irish spelling.
Do you understand?
Oh.
The more common selling?
I don't know.
Okay, there's that.
Nick, what else you got for us?
You got...
I came back from Arizona Car Week.
You did.
That was really fun.
Yeah.
As someone who lives in an online auction world,
seeing the in-person is a really interesting event.
Well, for what?
Much worse, of course.
They're just different.
Like, it's not like online and offline.
versions of the same thing. Like, it's just totally
the way, first of all, it's
really fast, right? Like, you've got
seconds to make decisions. Like, I wish you
had a minute between each bid to, like, think about
it, the energy of the room.
But then also, like, it's like the L.A.
auto show. Like, there's an exhibitor hall. You could buy
hot tubs, cigars, get tattoos.
You could buy all that
stuff. I have a friend. Two friends that bought hot
tubs there, oddly enough. And I think it was
like that we didn't win the car, but like, I've been
thinking of a hot tub anyways. It's like
this vagus level of just like all your logic goes out the window and you're just like, I'm buying
something. Yeah, I agree. I totally agree. I love our site and I think there's actually
benefits for both buyer and seller on a platform such as ours. However, there is something fun about
the electric feel of being in the room at a physical auction. Sometimes that leads to interesting
results that people later regret, buyers and sellers, to be honest. I think having the real time to
like really think through the car is can be significantly beneficial.
But it's fun.
Yeah.
It's more fun.
It's more of a spectacle.
There was, without naming names, a handful of cars that I saw that were bought on either
cars and bids or bring the trailer, sold at Bear Jackson for less than they pay.
You know what I mean?
Like, it can go either direction.
It's not that one is better or worse necessarily.
It depends on the car.
But the experience of going to one was really fun.
Certainly interesting to check out.
Even if you're a huge fan of our platform, even if you work for our platform,
even if you like the bring the trailer,
it's worth spending time going to online.
The other thing that I'll get on your soapbox
as a non-cars and bids employee
that I can say that you all maybe can't.
People complain about buyers' fees
on cars and bids or bring the trailer.
It was $500 to register.
Just to register a bit for the privilege of there.
Then I had to show proof of funds,
including or take out a loan
in order to be approved a bit up to a certain amount.
You make crazy Nick show proof of funds.
You're going to run into some sketchy stuff.
All right, here's one bank account, and here's another bank account.
And if you add those two together, and then think about how much credit line I have in this bank account.
Yeah. Yeah. The also, there's a buyer fee and a seller fee, both of which are 10 to 12 percent, depending on that.
So, like, the four to five percent, sorry, five percent is it?
Yeah, I should know this.
Cap, is a bargain.
So, like, yeah, complain all you want.
This isn't something that the online auction house is made up.
In fact, they do it way cheaper.
Yeah, so much. It's insane. Huge benefit.
It does factor in, like, for me, when I was thinking all those, I'm like, okay, immediately
at at least 10%.
Huge benefit to buyer and seller, honestly.
Buyer obviously pays less, but seller gets more for the car on these platforms.
Sometimes you will see results at the physical auctions, like, oh, this sold for way more
than you saw it at bring the trailer cars and bits.
Well, let's start playing with the numbers, right?
Because there's a 10% buyer's fee.
There's a 10% seller's fee.
Those are factored in, right?
How much more would the buyer have paid if there were no fees?
Well, you'll never know, because those guys make.
sure to get theirs.
Whereas we democratize the platform, we're basically running a charity, a non-profit organization.
Sure.
Also, you know, the table in the back of the room, less likely to bid on cars and bits.
Yeah.
That's another thing that happens at the physical auction.
Obviously not accusing anybody in particular.
The lampshade in the back places more bids than anybody else.
The auctioneer also won't ding the rearview mirror as they're pulling off the state.
It's wild.
So an F-50 got purchased at one of the auctions.
Not during car.
Was that the person driving it out who were just like random people from the local civic society and something like that hit it on a wall.
Smash it is something.
Like Doug did.
I would want so much remedial.
I would want like an unbelievable amount of arbitration at that point, especially because it's all over Instagram.
Okay.
I want to move on now to, oh, you want to talk about something?
The Abarth and the multiple.
Do we want to talk about how they're for sale and you're desperate for people to buy them?
Yeah, pretty much.
I can't solve my own car.
By the way, I want to be really clear.
I've added a comment in my auction where I describe every single thing that I can think of
that's wrong with the car, like quite at length.
Wait, wait, go down.
I want to see the- All five of them.
All five of the things.
All right.
I have done the bare minimum-to-maint-in-all-he's bragging about his fire hawks.
Yeah.
I've done the bare minimum to maintain this car.
I want to make that really clear.
One time one of the lights stopped working and I let it sit for a year until Kenan borrowed it
and then he put a new fuse in.
That's the level we're talking about.
Man, this is, this is a great.
It's fun, it's toss space able,
and then it is easy to drive.
That is embarrassing.
But regardless, so there's some smoke coming.
This car has no, I haven't seen that happen.
There are no known issues.
The car has smoke coming out of the tin pipe
under acceleration.
There is an oil leak in the drive.
No, maybe.
The top flaps around in the way.
That sounds like something I would have ghost written for him.
Did you get Tim Kinniscus to write this about the 21-Dor?
No, I'll get it.
This is your one train.
One chance to buy this perfect car except for the oil leaks.
The other important thing here is...
The oil leak I have not seen happen.
I want to be clear.
What do you mean you have not seen them happen?
There was a shop note from the first time I got an oil change,
saying there was evidence of an oil leak in like the tray or whatever.
I have parked that car in my driveway for three years.
I have not seen any oil on the ground.
The oil level has never changed, et cetera.
Similar.
No, no.
The oil has changed.
The oil level did not change.
The snow coming out of the tailpipes was weird.
I had Kenneth and some other friends
Tell me this was happening
But then we filmed the whole video
Where we drag race today
Philippo I'm gonna be honest with you
Nothing happened
I don't want to get into the specifics in the car
It is already vastly higher
than it deserves to be
Mr. Magoosey's nothing wrong with the car
We're good
At 5,100 bucks someone is doing you a favor
Today on this car
Holy agree
Okay we gotta move on to the market report
Which is sponsored by the Nick YouTube channel
The Nick YouTube channel
Can we actually
I want it to be sponsored by
NANNNNNNIC on Cars and Bids
Please go follow my seller profile
Oh you want to be like that number five
And Felipe's number four on the leaderboard
Over the leaderboard
And I would really like to
You don't have to unfollow Felipe
No one's asking you to do that
But if you could please just follow me
In addition to or instead of Felipe
That would help
I shouldn't try to type when there's a
Enhanced
Okay so
So go to the followers count on the far right
I've been stuck at number five for a while
Okay
606 for 632
Folks, if you're watching this,
unfollow Felipe.
Don't.
And follow Nick.
Don't.
I think give Ed Bullion a follow to...
Sure.
Let's just, let's manipulate these a little.
From the cars and bits account, Ed Bullen is now followed.
Okay, he sold a lot of cars with us.
I want to talk about the couple things.
I want to talk about the R129 and the R230.
Can we just do that really quick?
Sure, talking Benz's.
It hit me the other day.
We sold the nice R1-229 the other day.
And it hit me that that car will never rise in
value ever. Yep, there's so many of them. It simply, this car. It simply will never rise in value
ever. This was a late model in a cool color. It sold for 11. Yeah, that seems like the right price.
Because this car will never rise in value. And same with the R230. I walked by an R230 on the street
the other day. And there's people like, you walk by people like, oh, that's, that's a good looking
car. Well, it's also an $8,000 car. Wow. That's an SL 55 that sold for 14. That's a regular
SL 550 that sold for 11, 45,000 miles.
Neither of these cars will ever be worth anything in the history of time,
but they're pretty good.
Yeah.
Like if you want a cool kind of show it off type of car, a second home car,
like it's perfect or something like that.
They're also pretty reliable, generally.
Yeah.
The 129 is a little bit more reliable, but they're both pretty stout cars.
Yep, buy one.
They generally...
You will not make any money.
You will only lose money, but it's a pretty good value, I think.
I don't think you'll lose money.
You'll spend money.
You're going to spend money maintaining it and you won't sell it for anything.
No, you won't sell it for that much less.
No, I mean, the floor is 10.
The cars are selling for 8.
So, like, you can only lose so much on these things.
I really think those cars are pretty cool for the number.
I feel like everyone I know has gotten hit with some kind of scam lately.
Fake shipping texts, account locked emails,
with that one message that just feels slightly off, but somehow still tempting.
The biggest red flag for me, anytime there's urgency mixed with money.
If someone's rushing you, that's usually when mistakes happen.

You know, I want that so bad.
I want that so bad.
Cool car.
Early W.RXs are so cheap.
And I think it's crazy.
Go back to it.
Let's talk about this for a second.
They're so cheap, even though they are cool as hell.
Yep.
This car started the whole thing.
Yep.
What's the last Japanese car you've done?
I have a Sequoia right now
I mean like an enthusiast car
He has a Sequoia TRD
Pre. Yes, so the US cargo doesn't count
This doesn't count it
Sequoia TRD Pro
So Japanese
Yeah
I had a 2013 land cruiser only
I sold it two years ago
Does that count?
I would I guess
Well I mean sure
I was thinking like a sporty vehicle
I had a Skyline GTR back in 2015
Yeah that was
But since then I've had a lot of different
Japanese cars. I think it's time.
In a Korean car, and I bet that you don't distinguish.
That was rude.
Maybe true, but definitely rude.
I think those
Subaru's, this is going to sell for more because
it's a late production car. It's a type RA.
Would you just click on the car? No, I want to see what else we have.
No, go back, go back.
Some casual browsing in the middle of the pod.
I think this is such a cool car.
It's, the mileage is unknown, but it seems pretty,
pretty low wear
it's not crazy modified it only has a few
little things I would take off the mud flaps day one
but these are cool cars early WRXs are cool cars in general
and I don't understand why these don't bring more money
this car started the whole thing
the whole thing agreed should take bring way more money
you want one no why not they do wagons
have you ever seen the badging
this is giant thing that's stock
that's completely wow
it says WRX two different
That is not stuff.
That was at it.
That is how it was done.
Wow.
Nick, don't you want this car?
Why don't you get this?
They did a wagon.
It's a small wagon.
It's not notable.
You're not a Japanese car.
No, I'm into these in particular.
You've never had Japanese cars ever, have you?
Have you ever?
TSX for a minute.
A tip TX like 15 years ago.
Yeah, for two months.
It's a good engine, though.
What else?
That's it.
You've never had Japan.
I'm telling you, you've got to get a Z-32.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I would like to spend some time in that later.
It's so good.
Or a nice on a sex.
I still want a Pajaro, Evo.
Okay, we have to move on the questions.
Okay, we have to move on the questions.
Oh, my gosh.
I thought we were making this two hours.
The questions are brought to you by cars and bids,
which is the finest whatever.
You can take the rest.
Yeah, that's right.
You nailed it.
Cars and bids.
It is the best place to buy a multiply online in America.
This is at 160?
And I think it's got a little bit to go.
This is a, we've been selling, we've been selling NSXs for money.
You saw the gray one?
Pull up NSXs that we've sold.
We'll go to the questions in a second.
The last four NSXs, there was one automatic early, early, early car.
But then ours with 300,000 miles.
Oh, including Farras.
Matt Farras.
Wow.
But that had 20,000 miles for 167.
What, 60,000 miles for 121.
You know what was the deal car?
Honestly, was this, because the blue is really rare and really beautiful and really sought after.
And that car had some miles so you could actually use it.
And it didn't go for.
for such crazy money.
I mean, the one that's live now
is going to go for ridiculous money,
but it's super low mile.
Do you think on OE wheels
is what it done better?
Yeah, I do think it would have done better
on OE wheels.
And I think that that's something
that someone ought to do to it.
This is going to do so well.
By the way, we have a new Nsex on the site too,
which I also think is a relationship.
Which at this point, cheaper.
Yeah.
Same price point, cheaper.
Yeah.
NA2s have a clips.
God, I love this car.
This car is so good to drive.
You ever driven one of these?
No.
And I didn't get a chance to drive ours.
You didn't drive ours?
No.
Because once if we started getting ready for auctioned, we don't.
Have you driven any NSX?
No.
Oh, you're missing out.
I mean, I moved it from right there, right there.
Does that count?
It's really nice.
You know what else is nice, though, in this era?
FDRX-7.
That is a really good car.
And Z-32.
And then Mark 4.
That's how I would rank them, by the way.
If I had to rank...
RX-7 above the Z-32?
Yeah.
Oh, FDRX-7 is one of the great driving cars in automotive history.
It's just also one of the most painful cars to own.
FDRX-7, I might prefer the driving cars.
experience compared to the NSX.
Wow.
It weighs 2,000 pounds.
It's like a Miata, but like factory built more legit.
Yeah.
Like, it's like a more legit Miata.
The rotary power train is amazing.
It is super light.
It handles incredibly well.
It's just impossible for anybody to tell.
The Z-32 eclipsing the Mark 4 is interesting.
From the driver's driving perspective only.
That's the perspective that some of us care about driving a through this.
No, there's more to it than that.
Oh, come on.
There's style.
There's design, there's practicality, there's reliability, there's technology, there's all this stuff.
Yeah.
Do you think style is equivalent?
No, no, reliability.
The super looks better.
The super is more reliable.
The 2JZ is not only more reliable, but more tunable.
That three later is not bad.
Yeah, okay.
Fine.
The questions are brought to you by Nick and his electric charger shirt.
Nick, you want to tell us the story about that?
I was told this was a gas one.
I asked specifically.
I think what she said was, which do you want it to be?
And then she just agreed with whatever I said next.
But yes, this is a gas-powered one.
Oh, man, I hope you bought a couple.
If you saved that shirt, in 20 years, people would be like,
I can't believe there was ever a shirt for this car.
That's a good point.
This terrible car that we all want to forget.
A Mustang hat.
They had lots of good swag.
What did you give up?
They just invited me, by the way, to the press launch for it.
I'm not going to go because it is in Vermont.
What?
New Hampshire is right there.
It's a bunch more of a New Hampshire car.
It's a New Hampshire car for sure.
Anyway, it's in Vermont.
I'm not going, but you should go.
Noted.
Or you.
You ever want to go to a press launch in Vermont?
I think I'm busy that day.
They're going to do it in the snow.
Oh, that would be fun.
They've read out some sort of snow thing for the five hundred and fifty, for the four-door ones.
The 550 horsepower and the four hundred and twenty horsepower.
Dodge invite me.
I'll be there.
That looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, it's nine planes to get to Burlington, so I won't be going.
Okay, questions.
First question comes from final...
Oh, by the way, the questions this week were not good.
They were not good.
Shame.
Shame, you listeners.
If you want to ask us questions, go to the community tab.
We will post a post asking us to ask for questions.
Folks, think of your best stuff.
Nick's going to be back on the pod next week.
Crazy Nick.
Ask your crazy questions.
I want to answer the best and brightest and most special questions.
There are 371 questions.
I went through literally all.
of them and they were not as good as previous
weeks. Nonetheless, I found
nine or so good ones. All right. From final
funky pants, who handled a
nostalgic nameplace worse?
GM with the blazer or Honda with the
prelude. I'm going to answer this and I'll take
then you guys could. The Honda prelude
is one of the worst abominations in the
history of the automobile. It was
absolutely horribly
redone. It's ridiculous car.
Underpowered, overpriced,
not going to sell.
The answer is the blazer.
They're not about it.
If we can only pick between those two,
but what else would be,
you give me a...
The Ford Thunderbird.
No.
What?
The Boomer Thunderbird,
do pull up those.
The Boomer Thunderbird,
I mean, that's what the boomers wanted,
dude.
I posted my video review kind of knocking it,
and the comments were like,
you don't understand this car.
They gave people what they wanted.
Did they?
Is that what we wanted?
Like 200 orch power V8?
It was 300,
and that's what the boomers
who bought the car water,
were you going to spend 56
on a two-door Lincoln base.
Okay.
There's a lot of examples.
I mean, it's not just that.
Hit us with some more.
I think those are probably the two worse.
Oh, look at these windows.
The porthole windows.
That is a clean car.
You don't like this?
Complete commercial failure.
They could not give them away.
10 grand on the secondary market.
They're not really valuable.
You know, I actually enjoyed driving it.
It's a pretty comfortable, like, you know, kind of cruiser-type car, which I think is what it's for.
It's honestly aged well where now it looks like a concept of a car that escaped in me.
Until you look at the inside.
The interior has some bright spots.
Yeah.
In the dark.
But what is worse?
I think Blazer is the worst of all time.
For sure.
The prelude by the end of the run in 2002
was a dated product too.
The name play had kind of lost.
People don't talk about the fact that that fifth-gen prelude
was not really particularly beloved even then.
Now over the years we look back with rose-colored glasses
and has become beloved.
But, like, I was there, and I remember people complaining even then that it was front-wheel drive and underpower.
Yeah, because it was.
Now, these days, I think it's a pretty cool car.
It is incredible.
It's incredible.
It's incredibly cool.
But I think the nameplate didn't have that much value at a certain point.
The Blazer name played, though.
Especially when Bronco and Rangler and Forerner are here selling hundreds of thousands of units a year.
And GM looked at that and they're like, let's do a unibody crossover that only sells to rental fleet.
It is one of the most laughable mismanagement in the entire history of laughable mismanagement.
This was the direct predecessor.
Yeah, but that happens.
Like, the 4th-gen came out and it was amazing.
And then the 4-10 came out and it was incredible.
Like, that happens.
Nameplates kind of die off.
The Mustang in 04, the New Edge, had kind of, we were kind of wondering if the Mustang was going to die completely.
And then 05 shows up, one of the great redesigns in car history.
Like, they could have done that with the Blazer, too.
Also, this one looks kind of cool.
Oh, yeah.
The XR2 is a low mile.
It's a lot cooler than any of the time.
trash they're making now.
I give the Blazers some benefit of the doubt that I just think that they
were going to build that car anyways and then they just slapped the wrong name on it.
Like that's what they screwed up is that the blazer should have been an off-road car.
They could have still made what is the blazer and just named it like some
forgettable mid-sized SUV, whatever.
Yeah.
Like it's just the nameplate they screwed up.
GM is so afraid of making off-word car.
They're like Honda, except the problem is their core products also are bad.
But like the trail boss.
Like they won't just go and make a Raptor or make a Raptor R or whatever.
Like that you're or this, a Blazer.
Like the market is so clearly demanding these vehicles and they won't go do it.
Yep.
I also find it weird that ZR1 is a Corvette and ZR2.
That's a really good point.
ZR5.
Here's a very interesting trivia.
Do you remember what ZR5 was?
No.
ZR5 was a was a slightly.
off-road trim level of the last generation Chevy S-10 with four doors.
Type in, I bet we've sold one.
I bet we've sold one.
Type in ZR-5 and see if it pops up.
Nope.
Oh, what a shame.
I saw one on the road the other day.
Nope.
Type in S-10 ZR-5.
You remember the S-Dyme, dude?
Yeah, oh, yeah.
That was it.
It looked nice.
They just sold two of that, yeah.
The ZR-5.
Yep.
You're thinking, where's the ZR-3 and Z-R-4?
No.
I think any such thing.
What was the Z-X-5?
was the focus five door.
A and ZX3.
Okay.
You don't have a nostalgic nameplate
worse handled than Blazer?
You're over here talking,
but I don't hear you with one.
I'd have to do a little more deep research.
The 500 was handled beautifully.
The 500,
I'm not saying that as the owner of one.
Like, truly, that was like a successful rebrand.
The Bronco, really successful.
Yeah, a lot of times they've done it well.
Not that one, not the Blazers.
The challenge are pretty good.
I don't even think relative to the Blazer,
I don't even think the pros that bad.
Okay.
question from T. Berert.
If you had all the money in the world,
which automaker would you pay to do a special one-off car
and what car would it be?
Lemieux.
Oh, yeah.
Lamborghini LMO-O-2.
Finally make me one.
I want it limited production.
I won it with the V-12.
Like, kind of like that V-RON,
which I think is the obvious answer here.
Give me a Lemo.
L-M-O-2 revival.
That wouldn't break down every 20 miles.
L-M-O-Rival.
Would you accept an orus with like a Santa Cruz orus?
Uh, if done extremely well, they could reuse some Uris parts, sure.
I wouldn't.
I wouldn't prefer not.
Let's go off-roading.
We got all the money in the world.
All of it.
We want a Lemo.
Yeah.
And I wanted to look like the original Lemo.
Just modernized.
Like just, yeah, modernized, tweak it a little here, give me like a decent interior and power train.
Stick?
Three-pet?
Ooh.
You're not a three-pet guy.
No, but no.
Hey, hey, hey.
You got any?
On off-road vehicles, generally speaking, automatics are
preferable.
And on your sports cars.
So anyway,
the only,
the only manual you have
is a diesel
Paul hatchback.
And you're getting rid of it
because you want out.
Yeah.
He doesn't have to drive it.
For me,
I'd probably,
LMO,
which would be behind me list,
I would definitely want
a modernized F40
and it'd be really cool.
Yeah.
With a manual.
Did Lewis,
Hamilton ever ended up making one?
There was talk about that,
but then he raced poorly,
I guess.
I didn't really.
Now he's dating Kim Kardashian.
And now it's not happening.
Yeah.
So what you've got?
He's a busy man.
Got nothing.
You got nothing.
Nothing.
So some kind of like a car that should be a manual that isn't a manual, make that manual wagon.
Make that a manual wagon.
Oh, yeah.
Shooting break, recommissions.
A C-8 ERA manual wagon.
Yeah, I mean, a long roof version of the C8 would be really cool.
Or a Cayman.
I remember when they offered that, when they were going to offer that, like, make your own program.
I had, like, talked about that.
Nobody did anything.
Those are all possibilities.
Lemu is a good one.
Lomu is a good one.
The Veyron from last week's pot is kind of the,
I don't know.
I think that's probably the correct answer to the question.
Can I propose a better looking to you at the end?
No, you can't.
Okay, next question.
You wasted your genie wish, though.
Next question from Quasi Brad.
It's questions for you guys.
Oh.
It's about me, but it's for you guys.
Dear Doug, what do you think you'd be doing professionally if YouTube didn't pan out?
Would you've gone back in the industry?
Would you do something else?
What do you think I would be doing if YouTube hadn't a panned out?
I think you would have been that guy that goes on Jeopardy and wins a couple times in a row.
Yeah.
Just a couple.
Yeah.
That's not really a career, though.
I think the question is more like.
Well, you would have had kind of like a mid-manager role or something, but never been able to go past mid-manager because of your people skills.
Like, you would have told off your boss and kind of just got stuck at some level.
But you would have then gone on Jeopardy and everyone's like, wow, that guy's really smart.
And then we never would hear from you again.
Okay.
I mean, Jeopardy, you win a few times.
You win maybe 40 grand pre-tax.
Per episode.
You're doing well.
You would have gone big in like the early 2000s on Jeopardy when that was like something.
The early 2000s, Nick, I, I'd turn 12 in 2000.
You could have bought a house.
Okay.
Sleepwell, what's the answer?
I think for a while you have gone back into that, like into like vehicle allocation management.
I would have gone back into insurance actuary.
I think you would have been really bored there and also you're too intelligent and driven to stay in a thing like that.
my God,
are you saying people don't stay in the car industry
if they're smart.
No, no.
You're going to say that about
Kim Kineskas?
I promise.
I don't know.
I don't know the answer to that.
I do think Jeopardy champion
it was a real pathway
that you should have considered it.
And honestly, you should...
And probably about the same odds
as making it big in YouTube.
No, it's definitely
higher odds of being
Jeopardy champion,
of which there have been thousands.
But meanwhile, on YouTube,
only me and Hoovey have ever made it big.
Am I right?
You guys are crushing.
I saw Hoovey.
No.
Four times at Barrett Jackson, each time he had bought another cart in the previous time.
Oh, man, dude, he was killing it.
I'll tell you this, though, it's February.
You know what that means?
He's got to sell them all by April 15th.
Tax time here in the United States, April 15.
You got to assume.
Surely he has to pay quarterly.
Well, but he doesn't.
That's one of his things.
You got to assume that I'm going to get a text from Hoovey here in the next few weeks,
saying he's got to sell some, panic, sell some stuff on cars.
Hoovie, just text us now.
I've done my part.
I've done my part.
That might mean that he gets to come back on this podcast, because usually we pay him
some honorary em and he comes to do a pod with us.
I tried to buy him out of the, I guess I shouldn't out what car he got,
but he got a car at Barrett Jackson that I was trying to buy him out of,
but it was unsuccessful.
What did you just buy it at Barrett Jackson?
You didn't come poop.
Oh, I'm sorry, for people skills.
It's the people skills.
Yes, yes.
That's why you're going to be a middle manager forever.
Yeah, right.
Okay, next question.
This is another one about me that you guys can answer from Ramtin underscore.
Hey, Doug, you've mentioned you prefer reviewing cars locally due to family and logistics.
Yeah, I do prefer it.
Most people prefer convenience over inconvenience, yes.
Philippo's laughing because it's not a...
It's not a preference anymore.
It's an only.
If you received an offer to revue, absolutely any car in the world and could actually drive it,
what is one holy grill car that make you drop everything and fly anywhere?
Felipe, go ahead and answer the question.
I think you know the answer.
Doug's answer to going to be nothing.
That's wrong.
That's not the real answer.
He was offered that tells us on Columbia.
When you were in Italy and he turned it down.
I was offered to me.
I was two hours away with my family.
I said no.
I think if somebody says, here's all of these cars and this history.
You think about the Sultan.
I think of the Sultan.
Yeah, that's true.
I will say, if the logistics all worked out and the Sultan thing worked out
and I could get a full week in Brunei and pick in shoes,
I could come home, you know, after six days with 12, 13 videos shot.
Yeah, you'd do it.
And we would finally have an insight into what some of those cars are like.
Which of Brunei's seasons would you go?
going. I don't do well in the heat, yeah, which is the problem because there's only ever heat.
I assume I would shoot the whole thing indoors, but I also assume they don't have air conditioning.
What about Japan for the Aspark Al? It's made in Italy, okay? Are you sure?
Yeah, nobody knows. No one, yes, they claim it is. Okay, two more questions, and then I have to leave.
What? Yeah. Next question for 60. A good looking car. 63 Splitty.
At what number, this is for you, I think. At what number does the 570s become a
a good buy.
105.
We sold one the other day, right, for 105?
We sold one today.
Did it go?
Did it end today?
What did it sell for?
I'm into that one.
They're there, I think.
Oh!
Under 100 for 570s is there.
89 it sold for with 61,000 miles.
And that was a cool spec.
This one, yeah,
161,000 miles.
Yeah.
And also was titled in Kansas.
It's got a, that's a,
Tennessee, sorry.
It's in two Levisse.
It's in San Diego, but no,
it's titled in Kansas or Tennessee.
I don't think that really matters that much to the value of the car.
Who told me the stories?
We thought, we aren't, one failed to sell with $37,000.
What's the number? Would you buy one of these?
I mean, I...
You're an automatic transmission guy.
Where would you hop in?
I think 89 is a quite compelling number.
It is quite compelling.
I would hop in there.
If I were in the market for another automatic sports car.
This is like a 560...
That's why you're not calling on the Diablo.
It's three pedals and you're done.
Yeah, that must be it.
He doesn't order to drive manual.
I'll swap it to an auto.
It's a real car.
Last question from that million mile Volvo.
Which dead car manufacturer do you miss the most, and why is it sob?
It's not sob for me.
I'll tell you what mine is, but you go ahead first.
Please go first.
Yours is sob.
Of course, but please go first.
But, you know, Saab didn't die when it stopped production.
Sob died about 1998 when Gina took majority ownership.
There is a, damn, this is like a hipster.
Like, sob died first.
when GM showed up and it died second when it actually died.
By the way, the actual answer was became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2000.
2000.
I remember the day.
It was a big deal.
Nick, what's your favorite dead car brand?
It's not my actual.
Is that my actual?
Yeah, of course.
What do you mean?
Yeah, it's back.
The key went in the center.
I know.
They had a before.
There's a channel where somebody did a bunch of work with a sob.
I did a whole 15 minute bit about why it's special for this kid's YouTube channel.
That's great.
What do you got?
I'm going to guess that you're going to say Saturn.
No, I am absolutely not.
Although, it is a shape.
Same with Ceyon.
Neither are a shape.
Nick, what's yours?
Come on.
I think Delorean got a bad shake.
Are you to say Outta Bianchi?
I was tempted to say Packard initially.
Oh, my God.
That's actually not a bad one.
Delorean is embarrassing.
I think also Mercury, I miss.
The Mountaineer.
Legend.
The mountaineer.
The legend was inaccurate.
There's still a strong part of me that wants to buy Ford's and rebadge them as Mercury.
Oh, okay.
Go back.
Why not?
All right.
Change the grills to be.
The correct answer is Pontiac.
You missed the G6?
Yeah, dude.
There was a G6 GXP that had a massive power train and massive front end that looked like, if you pull up the G6 GXP, it looked like the new M3.
Pull it up.
It looked like the N3.
You're wrong.
People are like, oh, the M3.
Pontiac had it first.
Pontiac had everything first.
And I'll tell you this.
Oh, you haven't sold a lot of you.
Yeah, I'll say the one we sold.
No messy L.A.
They did a hard top convertible.
That's not it, by the way.
That's not the GXP.
I want to make it clear.
But they did do a hard top convertible
like the SL, by the way.
But also, they were GM's performance brand.
You're the first person since their own marketing team
to compare it to the SEL.
There was a blown.
You know what the crazy thing about this car was?
There was also a soft top convertible.
There was a blown V6 that they,
did a lot of cars with. There was a V8 that went to the Grand Prix. Do you remember the Grand Prix?
Yeah, it's a P. GTP. GTP. Well, yeah, there was that, but that was the Supercharge
one. Look at that. Then they did the Great Prix GXP, which had a V8. That was serious. That was a
North Star. Yes, this. Look at that grill. You think the M3 nostrils or something? This is a
beaver. God, that was tough. That is, that's a lot. It was ugly. Although I will say when I was
in Detroit, just film the Celestic, guess what was parked in the GM campus? No. Someone had one of these.
living the dream. I miss Pontiac. It was the excitement brand. The Solstice GXP. The Grand Prix
GTP, Super 6, and the GXP, V8. The G8, which was a crazy cool car, brought from Australia,
rear-wheel drive, manual. Everybody's like, oh, Chevy SS, Pontiac G8. All of the cars were cool,
except the Torrent at the very end. And the G3 in Canada. And the vibe. The G3 Wave.
G3 Wave. I think it was called technically the G3 Wave.
Go down to the road.
Anyway.
I also want to revise the revived nameplate one, Ford Lightning.
Gen 2 Lightning, overnight parts from Japan, to an EV pickup.
Evie pickup was faster and better in every way.
I think that was a mistake.
Look, the point is, Pontiac, we miss you dearly.
I do.
For some reason, GM kept Buick, which I think has no redeeming qualities.
But Pontiac had real performance.
There was love there.
and instead they took it away from us
right when a new firebird was about to come out.
Well, that would have been nice.
Thank you.
That's your answer, and that's your podcast for this week,
the finest we've ever done.
Nick, do you have any parting thoughts
or anything you want to shout out?
Yes.
Follow me on Cars and Bid seller profile.
Maybe keep following Filippo or not.
That's up to you.
I like that you're not trying to get people to watch
YouTube content or anything else.
The only thing it matters to him is a leaderboard.
Cars and bids leaderboard.
It's important that I have this vanity metric.
It provides me no utility in the real world, but I would like it.
Reputation scores and porn.
Number of cars sold.
Car value sold, I will never win.
No.
No.
Wow.
Cars won, you clearly will never win.
That's 77.
That's impressive.
It's real.
Legit.
Okay, that's Nick.
Flipo, you got anything to plug?
You already plug it?
Go to Cars and Ben.
Our app is great, I'm told.
Our app is great.
Truly, if you have an iPhone, download the app, you'll love it.
The app's great.
The podcast is great.
Everything we do is great.
Great. Goodbye, everyone. Thank you for watching the Cars and Bids podcast. Or maybe it's the Doug Demir. I don't know. This car pod. Goodbye. There you go.
