Welcome to this car pod.
I'm Felipe.
I'm Nick.
I'm Doug, and the big news today,
Felipe is departing.
That is accurate.
After six years.
Oh, wow, he's got like a thing prepared.
I got thoughts.
After six years, leaving cars and bids.
Six years.
Six years.
A little bit over that, really, but they're about.
Folks, we are not kidding.
This is not a drill.
Felipe is leaving cars and bids.
Felipe, I don't even know why he's on this podcast.
He's never been like a content person.
He only showed up on the podcast because we asked him to one day and then it stuck.
He works in our operations division.
He creates the operations.
Yeah.
And now he's going to go do that for...
I'll be working at Ford.
Filippo is going to work for Ford Motor Company.
Now, there's a lot to talk about here.
Yeah.
But the big thing is, don't you agree that from now on,
in order to eliminate any possible
imperance of bias,
we have to talk negatively about all Fords?
Or just don't talk about Ford's ever.
Don't you think, like, because Nick's going to stay,
don't you worry, but don't you think that from now,
Now on, people are going to accuse us of being a Ford Shill podcast because our main guy went to work for Ford.
I was thinking since we have a mole at Ford that we would just not allowed to talk about Ford whatsoever.
So we just ignore all Ford news.
I think we talk about Ford, but I think we say very negative things.
Every time a Ford comes up, we say, oh, the Mustang GTD, it's a great car, but we hate it.
Yeah.
Is it your decision to get a Jeep 392 over a Ford Philson?
Specifically because I knew Felipe was.
is going to, and people would say, oh, of course he's getting a Ford.
Philippo probably got him a deal.
And you know what else I was thinking after his news is that the catfish Camaro doesn't look that
bad.
Like, it's grown on me a lot in the last two weeks.
I always felt that way.
I love the fourth genesis.
Okay.
Regardless, Felipe,
dude, this is the end of Felipe.
Also, I'm here next week on the podcast, by the way.
Felipe's going to be on next week's pod.
That's where we're going to do our big tribute to Felipe.
Oh, please, I beg.
I'm sad that you're not sticking on the pod.
I know.
I feel like certain people are able to have a day job and still be on the pod.
Yeah, but he's going to work for a legitimate company.
And you can't.
Also, there's some slight conflicts in there.
So, Felipe's leaving.
Felipe, I want to talk quickly.
You've been here for six years.
Yeah.
We started this company in June of 20.
And almost immediately, I begged Felipe to come and start writing auction listings for us.
Maybe within the first week.
Yeah, yeah.
He was writing auction listings because we got way more submissions than we ever thought we would.
And we needed desperately needed help.
So he started off.
the writer of auction listings,
and he clawed his way to the top.
Yeah, that's right.
I think I've worn every hat.
Every single hat, including content guy.
Yeah.
And now, after giving him all these opportunities,
this is how he repays.
I'm most worried about he's always been the voice of reason
to tell you no whenever you had a crazy idea.
What's going to happen without a check and balance?
I have Doug DeMiro.
I personally, the main thing I am worried about,
is that Felipeo knows regular cars and the car business.
And aside from me, everyone else is a little shaky on those things.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like if I said Holden Jackaroo to you,
you probably think I'm talking about like a character from a fiction novel.
No, I know that's an Aussie market car.
Wow.
Yeah.
Felipe, what are you going to be doing over there for?
Yeah, I'll be a director of EV Strategy.
Helping plan out the next, call it,
call it decade of what to invest in, what to build around the world.
Yeah.
Wow.
It's exciting.
This is real.
He's going to a real job, people.
He's no longer going to be sitting on this podcast talking about Nick's convertible
Range Rover.
Right.
I'll have to do that on my own time.
So Ford TV lineup right now, though, is only the marquee.
Yeah, the fathom's coming out.
They're about to come out with the fathom.
Are you going to get to tell him no?
Like, you'd be like, no, no.
Just none of that.
The mackie's great.
What's wrong with the maquis?
Oh, no, we hate it.
We hate the mackie.
It's a for.
We hate it.
It's a great car, but unfortunately on this podcast, we hate it.
Let me tell you, day one, walk in, revive the Mercury brand.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We want a marauder and not an EV marauder, a real marauder.
Yeah, he's going to go to.
The best way to sell E.
Not a good edition minivan.
That's a deal breaker.
Would you buy it?
Sure.
If you built it, I will call it.
That's a good point.
Okay, so you're going to do an EV stuff at Ford.
Yeah.
You're leaving cars and bids.
It's going to be wild.
The biggest company I've ever worked at.
Ford is.
No, no, currently until...
Carson viz has been the biggest company.
It's 36 people.
But that's how many employees Carson viz has...
How many employees does Ford have?
Oh, many, many, many, many more.
You've got 36 people in HR.
Yeah, that's the elite.
Like 2,000 people in HR.
It's going to be a bit of a transition, but I'm excited.
It is very...
It has 169,000 employees.
Of course, that presumably includes factory workers, but not dealership employees.
Yeah.
People who wear the blue oval hat are significant.
Yeah, so in number.
So let's do some math here.
169,000, 4,700 times the size.
4,700 times the size of cars and bids.
Of cars and bids.
But Ford really is doing better than we are.
I do want to say that their profit also a little more.
Turns out, their overall market cap, a little higher.
Well, wait a minute.
Net income last year was negative $8 billion.
Oh, actually.
Oh, no, wow.
Wow.
Yeah.
I retract that.
I do want to say, after six years of working here,
it is very, I'm excited for this new opportunity,
but it's also very sad to leave.
I have a lot of love and also trust in what the company's doing
and what's coming next.
It felt like the right time personally for me
to take this new opportunity,
but very sad to not work in this office.
Then why would you leave if you're so sad?
Yeah.
Because sometimes it's time for something new.
And the company's in a really, really, really good position.
And I don't think that answer.
Ford or Cars and Bids?
Not for.
Both, both, both, both.
So why would you,
Felipe, why would you do this to us?
Every day we come down here and we sit on the podcast
and we talk about dumb stuff and there's people out there listening.
I know, it's insane.
It's a reflection on you and I, I think.
He doesn't want to have to do this with us anymore,
and this is the only way out.
I hope you take it as such as that.
It would be a good learning experience.
No, it just, the company's in a really good position,
Carson Bids, and I think that new talent coming on
our operation side of doing our finance,
helping with our growth will help take the company to the next up.
And also, you want a new challenge.
And I want a challenge.
The most real.
Six years I ended at a startup is a long.
It's a long time.
You've done an enormous job.
I agree that the company is, you know, when you started, we were, we were fledgling, splashing
around, trying to find high ground.
Like, now the company is like kind of killing it.
And a lot of that is thanks to your input and the work that you've done over the years.
I truly mean that.
Yeah, thanks.
I appreciate it.
It's been exciting.
But on a personal level, you know, we come to work in this office every day.
And it's so fun that we are all around our friends.
It is so cool.
We got Sean and Nick over there and Ryan Lopez sometimes.
Not today, of course.
It's a Wednesday, but he's not in.
And it's sad.
It'll be really sad that, like, Felipe's not here.
I know.
I'll probably still be here.
Let's be honest.
The beauty is, so Kenan also.
Kenan spread his wings.
We're still buddies.
We hang out all the time.
Like, Felipe will not be leaving us.
He'll just be leaving the pod.
I'll believe in the pod.
And I'll have a double.
desk creation over there
that is mostly papers.
It's hard to believe.
This is massive news.
Our audience is going to be so sad.
There are real Felipe lovers out there.
And folks, I'm going to tell you right now,
we don't have someone to replace it.
Like, we're going to keep having Kennernon.
We're going to keep having Nick on.
We're going to have Ryan Lopez and Sean maybe sometimes.
My buddy Sam said he'd come on.
Whoa, we don't have a Felipe.
We don't have a Felipe.
Why are you not here?
Here are the things that I think define Felipe's tenure on the pot.
Oh, man.
his unbelievable shilling for cars and bids
no matter what this circumstance
Carson Bins could have killed a guy in the street
and Felipe would be like, well,
we did it, though, we did it efficiently.
We did it efficiently.
We didn't kill anybody on any street.
That's true, factual.
He's fact checked me multiple times on air.
That's another thing.
Filippo.
Fis are important.
Filippe, with his facts and with his knowledge.
Like, I'm going to have to take up the mantle
as like the rational
And one, this is like John Roberts has suddenly had to become a liberal, you know what I mean?
Like, I'm going to have to take up the manel as the factual one because everybody else is obviously nuts, you especially.
Thank you.
A Doug Nick Ryan Lopez pause, just going to go so far all around.
They can't be near each other.
Yeah.
Doesn't work.
All the conversation is about smoke shows.
And it's really a problem.
It's not arable.
And so that's what we're going to lose.
And we won't be able to get it.
Now, if you live in San Diego and you think you can replace Felipe, send us an email.
You can't.
You can't.
You can't.
You can't.
At cars and bids.com.
That's right.
Or filippo.
orgrelli at Ford.com.
Thankfully, not my email.
You're good.
It will be the first place I've ever worked where my first name is not the entirety of the email.
Oh.
Every job I've had is Felipe at company.
Damn.
You knew that.
You're finding out of Lippo's email address the day he's leaving.
Sorry, everybody.
Really hard to figure out.
Can I say?
Yeah, because I was looking at the stats earlier.
And I got a shell for cars and bits.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
One last show.
No, it's going to be many more.
We have now auctioned over 40,000 cars.
40,000.
We have sold over $900 million worth of cars.
We're on track to sell $300 million worth of cars this year.
We've already sold more cars this year than all of 2025.
This podcast is the number one automotive podcast.
Cars and Friends, which Nick is often on, is the number two automotive podcasts in the country.
So we're one and two.
Yep.
And that is just insane.
My channel is still number one for cars.
The generalist's a 100% number of all of it.
Content, the business.
We're just crushing.
I will say one thing.
Many years ago, when Felipeo decided to join this business,
which I think was the summer of 20, the late summer of 20,
you were like, don't come here.
I told them not to because I thought it was a sinking ship,
which I thought up until about six weeks ago.
No.
But longer than I should have.
But anyway, I told Felipe, I said,
if we get to a point where we are selling,
where we are auctioning 55 cars a day,
I will buy you a car.
You did say that.
And we were at like 20 at the time, or maybe 15, you know?
Yeah, we are now at 54 cars a day.
And Felipe was decided at this point to make his action.
Yeah.
And unfortunately, we didn't quite get up to the number.
There have been days that we've auctioned 55 cars.
There have been weeks when we've auctioned 55 cars, but not quite, not, not, that doesn't quite meet the threat.
Like, 50 cars a day on average.
Like, next week we're going to do it and he's done.
I know.
The other question is, is Ford going to give you a company car?
Was that a decision where you were like, oh, I got free tires and a free mattress for Doug, but I got a free car at Ford.
Like how important was that?
You're going to get yourself into a...
How much you make it?
F-350?
Give us your comp.
I will likely have some kind of Ford vehicle, yes.
Wow.
He's going to be driving around in a Mackey...
To be clear, I currently have a Ford vehicle.
He's been driving around a Mackey with...
Beringian manufacturer plates.
Isn't that a Mackey Dune Edition?
Because it's the only one they can.
A manufacturer plate would be a big FU to your P-P.
plates.
Oh, yeah, and also the fact that he's just cruised around on manufacturer plates.
I had to earn them with all the press cars.
What if he gets like the GT90 concept as his daily?
That'd be cool.
Or a Ford Ka, you know, like he's just flexing on a song.
A street car.
By the way, there have been a lot of days that we've started more than 50.
I understand that.
More than 50.
I said 55.
Sorry, I'm sorry, I apologize.
More than 55.
There have been a few.
The point is that you don't take a car.
You can have the Audi A2, his old one.
We sold that one on CarsAbit.com.
I'm sure they would sell it back.
The best place to buy and sell your cool cars.
He's like Obama trying to transition to Hillary, but then Trump shows up.
That is my life with here on Nick, yeah.
Trump just shows up.
I will forever be grateful of your service.
Filippa will be on the podcast.
I'm serious about that.
I know that's the podcast next week, and we will, Sean's putting together a tribute.
Oh, please don't.
I truly, I will walk out and leave.
And I'll take the sign that you sign.
the sun. Make sure to include the sump pump.
Juan's put together. It's a beautiful tribute.
Filippo had an obsession with the sump pump.
It was an issue. Plains almost the flood.
It did. Manual labor Felipe was fixing.
One time we had water issues, we fixed them. We're good.
And this is the end of an era.
It is out of an era. For this podcast. Do you think the pot will survive?
Yes, the pod will survive. We're 120. There's episode 129.
Yeah, but like, so many of those had Felipe in them and you were like an important
part of it.
I appreciate that.
You think Kenan sits there and we keep going?
You think Ryan Lopez shows up in that seat?
Will he show up?
That's the real question.
No, Ryan's currently on vacation in Italy, which I'm jealous of, and so I'll keep
making fun of him.
I am curious.
Your casting strategy for the pod has always been who's nearest and available at the
moment.
Are you going to have an intentional casting strategy, or is it just going to be first
person to show up that has bandwidth?
One day, bring your kids, they'll be on it.
The thing that I've learned is this.
The way that this pod, the reason this pod has taken off so much
is a serious response to your joking question.
The way that this pod has taken off so much
is because despite some inputs from some other people
making some suggestions about who we should cast,
it became clear to me that it was going to be great
if we just had our friends talking about friends stuff.
And the audience has so clearly glommed on to the fact
that we are all buddies and like this is a friend conversation
as opposed to some podcast you see where it's so forced.
And so I always knew Felipe would probably eventually leave us
and have higher career aspirations
than being on our stupid podcast.
It's the number one podcast.
But, like, yeah, my plan is to have Sean come in
because he's also our friend and like, you know.
We've got to make more friends.
That's where this podcast,
that's how this podcast has been successful.
And if you're out there in the world
trying to think about how to do a podcast,
the answer is do it with your friends
and also millions of dollars
of private equity backing.
That's the key to our success.
Both are healthy.
I do want to stand a series of it.
It's been an incredible six years.
I'm so excited to watch all of a sin.
We're all friends and we'll see each other.
And Dan or CEO and I are very close.
I'm really excited to watch the next phase of growth,
which I think will be a really meaningful one.
Everyone leave your Felipe's the kind of guy comment down below.
My wife did screenshot somebody early on commented.
Felipe is the kind of guy to say,
I'm going to go play video games and just opens up Excel.
And she sends that to me something.
So you've got to beat that.
That is your bar to be.
That's the bar.
I like that.
That's a good one.
With Felipe leaving the pod,
This means it's time for me to up my game on podcast performances.
That's why I'm turning to today's sponsor, Masterclass, to get better at my craft.
You've got awesome courses from people like Kevin Hart,
who will teach you to boost your stage confidence or prepare for a better performance.
Louis Hamilton, on building resilience for growth.
Tony Hawk on how to catch a gnawley 900 backslide.
Chris Jenner on how to become the best momager for your kids, and so much more.
They even have my favorite Ryan Holiday teaching you the principles of stoicism.
So no matter what you're into, no matter what you're trying to get better at, our sponsor
Masterclass has literally the world's leading experts.
I'm trying to encourage Felipeo to come up with his own master class teaching us how he
scaled cars and bids from a teeny tiny little startup to a massive 36-person organization.
Masterclass keeps adding new classes so there's never been a better time to get in.
Right now, as a listener of this show, you get at least 15% off any annual membership at Masterclass.com slash Carpod.
That's 15% off at Masterclass.com slash Carpod. Head to Masterclass.com slash Carpod to see the latest offer.
Quick break from this car pod for the AutoZone rescue. We've teamed up with AutoZone and their quality parts to rescue this iconic 1988 87 Toyota Forerunner that's in dire need of saving.
We're bringing it back to life and taking it on the perfect San Diego adventure, surfing California burritos and
a little bit of off-roading. For this job, we'll need a wide range of quality parts specific
for this 39-year-old truck that perform like the original equipment. And that's where AutoZone
has us covered. Once it's dialed in, I'll be selling it on cars and bids with no reserve,
so another enthusiast can love it as much as I'm about to. This is the AutoZone rescue.
Let's get moving. It's a terrifying squeaky noise. It's alive. Barely. It's been sitting
for a while, so I'm not too surprised that's running a little rough. First up, spark plugs.
I use NGK iridiums in my car.
There's no reason for me to deviate here.
Great acceleration, better fuel economy,
and they hold up well over time.
Next up is to swap out the distributor.
For this, we're using the Durilas Gold new distributor.
It's a brand new distributor, not remanufactured,
works right out of the box, no modification needed.
Last for not least, time for plug wires.
We want Durilast spark plug wires to get the job done.
They're efficient, reliable cables that we can count on.
It doesn't look that bad, but you can see the edges are cracking here.
For this one with STB filters,
They made to last a lifetime and deliver the best performance under the hood.
Let's fire it out.
Awesome.
Sounds great.
Let's hit the road, get back to the studio.
Let's go.
Stay tuned next week to see what we tackle next on the AutoZone Rescue.

Nick, do you have any thoughts on the departure of Filippo here?
I'm sad.
Yeah, I'm sad.
It is crazy to think Kennan and Filippo
not at cars and beds.
Yeah.
But it is great.
I mean, you're not leaving San Diego.
You're not leaving our friend group.
So it doesn't really impact me much.
You know, other than I'll miss you on the pod.
I have, Sean is still here.
My close personal friend, Sean, who edits our videos
and sometimes gets emails or who produces.
We don't know what it does, really.
Yeah, it's unclear.
Nick is here, he's my friend.
We love Nick.
Then it's Dan.
Let's try not to scare him away on him.
Dan, our CEO, has become a friend.
I tried to push it off.
Dead.
Did your best.
I wanted to be arms late.
Yeah.
But now that you're leaving, here we are.
The remnants.
You know, the podcast will be fun.
It'll be interesting to transition to listening to the podcast.
Right.
Because I mostly listen when I'm not here.
I don't want to hear what I said.
He doesn't listen when he's got.
He's watching Spy Kids.
Sometimes you're watching Spy Kids.
Only sometimes.
There's a discovery and it's great.
But I will start listening every week, but it'll be weird to not be honest.
Can't believe he's going to go and work for four.
I can't believe that we've.
Did you consider other automakers?
Did Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at any point?
I will be honest, this job appeared and it's one that I'm incredibly excited about, and I wasn't otherwise looking at jobs.
Damn, they got him.
They got me.
Like, you know?
LinkedIn just kind of works sometimes.
Like a Yoshi in the Super Nintendo Mario game.
Like, you know?
With the long tongue.
Yeah.
Like, then that's the end now.
Or flupe from the psychics movie.
Nice.
17 and a half minutes on this.
Can we move on?
This is big news.
We can move on.
You know, big news.
Felipe was the kind of guy in his off-boarding communications.
Seven different tabs, including for the board,
internal, hashtag general, auto-reply, and podcast.
No, it's ready.
Powerpoint.
Oh, I can't wait for that.
Can you copy on me on that?
You should see my other off-border document.
Okay.
I want to talk.
The next news story is not the next news story.
It's the fact that my Porsche 9-9-2-tribo is for sale.
Are you, are you, this is another incredibly, or you're still going to see yourself in one?
Yeah.
Are you, what makes you sadder?
The departure of the 993-twin turbo or the departure of you from cars and things?
I think it's fitting that they coincide.
My last day, tomorrow.
Two important events.
Everything good here is out the door.
One week left.
And Dick's selling his Kaya in that same day.
Yeah.
It's quite a day.
Listen, I'm going to make a promise to you, people.
Oh.
I will buy another Porsche when Felipe returns to cars and bids.
But you'll keep owning the one you already have.
The career GT, I'm going to keep.
Yeah.
I will buy it.
I'm off Porsches.
Yeah.
So off Porsches that it like hurts me inside.
I will buy another Porsche the day that Felipe comes back to this company.
All right.
So your 993 turbo is.
live as your people are watching those,
you've owned it for about a year,
ish. Yeah, exactly. I think we should,
even though you don't really love the car, I think
you like the car. No, I loved it for its purpose.
Yes, which is, it was a great daily.
I think people expect a little too much from that car.
I agree. It's not worth. It's price, what it?
Well, things are worth. Much like
you opined on my, my kion. It's like a good
$12,000 car. Yeah. I would buy
that for $12 today. It's a little rough.
Should we talk off? It's, it's
a great, I think the mistake
that people make is
that they think that it's going to be a GT3.
Right.
They think it's going to be a $200,000 to $300,000 driving experience.
Well, you know, you say that, but cars have become so expensive.
Like, is it maybe a $200,000 driving experience?
Now, maybe it is.
Now in a world where Ford GTs cost $700.
In my mind, I bought my Ford GT for $225.
In my mind, that is still a $225 car.
However, in reality, it is not.
Yeah, I'm with you, dude.
And so, like, the world has changed.
Regardless of talking about what it's worth,
I do think it is a very cool car.
I am sad to see it go.
The primary reason for selling it, truthfully,
is that I want to get my kids into more, like, cars.
I'm going to try to do a new car every school year for my family.
And if I buy them right and sell them right,
I can really kind of not really lose money.
And so the kids are outgrowing the two-door cars.
And so, like, it was now or never to get the Supra.
And so I did.
And I love the Supras.
I will say you're 9-11.
I do think people put too much, too many aspirations on every 9-11 turbo.
It is not a track car.
performance is incredible, but it's a comfort.
Right.
Which that does well.
I love that it started for you.
It's like, okay, I can put kids in my car.
I can put kids in the car.
The car kids first fast car.
It's so cool for that.
I also, it's like the one commuter that I've enjoyed sitting in traffic with a manual.
I hate going to L.A.
in manual cars because I hate sitting in bumper to bumper and a manual.
And that car, I love the feel of that manual so much that it is the one manual car that I willingly do the drive.
I have never found another one.
the supra is not.
That manual transmission, the smoothness of the clutch and shift of the way they feel,
the bottom hinge and just the inputs are so perfect.
But, and I drove it 3,200 miles in a year, which I think is more than I drove any of my other
special cars the last year.
And I took it to L.A. a bunch.
I took the kids around on a ton.
And I just, it's just, I can't have, I have 10 cars right now.
I can't anymore.
And so it's time.
It's nice to look at it, too.
It's beautiful.
My wife says that it is the most beautiful car I have ever owned in her mind.
Yeah.
I've had 42 cars, and she says it's the most beautiful car.
I mean, it definitely is up there.
I love it.
I will miss seeing it.
I somehow never drove it.
You offered, and I just, like, didn't.
It was a mistake.
I think this car is very you.
Yeah.
I don't necessarily know that you'd ever drop $2.50 on a turbo.
But I could see you absolutely in a narrow body, which is most of the same experience.
Yep.
Some of those are wide body, and I love it, though.
Well, the wide bodies are just as expensive as the turbo.
The C4S is are big money.
Like, it's not much more to, but I guess, you.
you're buying for the look more than like the raw power.
But they're also, the 993 nerds are like,
the C4S is actually technically the one you want because blah-bl-bl-bl-bl-blah.
I haven't paid attention to any of it.
I wanted one of these.
I bought one of these.
I don't get into the whole fandom.
A buddy was like, I'm going to spend $1.90 on a C-4-S-9-9-3.
And I'm like, just spend a little bit more and get the one you want.
And he bought the C-4-S.
I am sad that I will lose out on a driver-level arena red, like kills bugs fast, like this is the car.
I want in one of these forever.
But I also used it every choice.
chance I could for a year. And now I'm on to the next also really cool. The Mark 4
Supero, which is another kind of poster car from my era. And that's that. One year's a good run.
That was the right amount. One year and 3,200 miles. I mean, I drove it, you know, that's a trip
across the country. Like, I drove it a real amount to get a feel for it and to know that I loved it,
which I do. I put $24,000 into servicing it. Holy moly. Yep. I think I'll get that back.
I think I will not get back sales tax, which. Well, I don't know why you're pointing him.
All my cars are registered in California.
Thank you very much.
So that's another, that's another big new story.
Philippo's departing.
The 993 twin turbo is departing.
Sad.
It's no reserve.
Buy it somebody.
No.
You don't understand this car?
But you and me are off porches.
Philippa,
but you bid on your G-Cab, though.
I did.
I'll probably bet on this because there was a price.
I wish I would buy it.
I do not ever plan to buy another Porsche.
You will buy another Porsche.
It just will happen.
There's none on my list.
There are none that I'm interested in.
I I the 996 Gt2 maybe but it does not have back seats so it's nowhere near it would be
a different era yeah yeah like I have no interest in ever buying another something even a puffy
I would consider a 959 yeah there we go but it would be in my list of cars to spend three
million dollars on it's not at the top it's not at the bottom it's higher than it would be for you
and him I bet yeah yeah I don't talk about multi-million dollar cars that's not my market
what if they're puffy that does make it more what if they're like this car
but puffy.
Anyway, that's the other 993 twin turbo.
All right, on to the real news today.
This.
Yes.
Yeah.
This is called the Mercedes-AmG.
Hold on, no, I practiced it a bunch and consulted.
Oh, man.
Mercedes-AmG, CLE 646.
That's what we all think of when we hear German.
That's what Weckback, Dr. Stefan Weckback said.
For me, the Mercedes, AMG, CLE 646, is the very essence of AMG.
The car came out from rational engineers dreamed of a very irrational vehicle.
Regardless of, it's another example of the Germans thinking they can get away with what the Italians get away with.
The Italian thing, which is so beautiful, that anything said in Italian is beautiful.
Everything said in German is ugly.
However, the car is cool.
640 horsepower rear wheel drive, only 30% percent.
like race car versus the CLE,
which is essentially the C-class coupe of the modern era.
Yep.
It is also a flat-plane crank, sounds really cool.
The return of V-8s back to the C and E-class cars,
which is I think what I...
Like, they're only gonna make 30 of these.
Who cares?
Yeah.
I doubt any are driven.
To me, it reminds me of the Mustang GTD,
but it's a sign of what's to come
for the C-class and E-classes,
which is back to our V-8s, and it's E-class guys.
You can get in on this one.
We're pretty pumped about that.
He's directing EV strategy.
He's not a good class.
He's one of the cool kids.
I agree that it reminds me the Mustang GtD,
but it is a lot cooler than the Mustang GTT, which we hate.
It better be, yeah.
Of course.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, that's true.
Just on principle.
Like, I would love to love the Mustang GTD,
but unfortunately, contractually now this car pod is obligated to hate it.
That's true.
So this is better in every possible way.
It's like the ZR1.
It's like a car we like, you know.
Yes.
Yes.
As opposed to the Ford Windstar,
which is a car we now hate.
Do you think we still have to hate old ones?
You know what?
If you bring back the Connelline van, we'll squash the beef.
Then we'll be cool with Ford.
I think the Connoline van still exists.
No, they killed it off.
All right, did they?
Bring it back his knee.
Keep track.
It was what do you mean?
It's long on.
The transit insurance.
I apologize.
Yeah.
You're thinking the GMC Savannah.
I'm going to get fired before I start.
Or the arrows car, yeah.
646, by the way, is what it is in PS, 637 horsepower.
The mythos.
Also, the name that whatever could say it again?
It means custom made or bespoke or something.
I think it is the coolest thing in the world.
And I think if they did this as a black series with a run of 500 cars and you could get it in the States, that would be really cool.
30 seems really limited.
It's also, it's got KW coilovers and acropovic exhaust.
Like it feels like something me and DC Motor Works would make in Atlanta, you know?
Yeah, it's cool as hell.
I think people are like, oh, it's only 30 made on a zillion dollars.
It's a car for rich guys.
That's all true.
But it is, I think it's coolest.
The fact that they're even doing stuff like this
when they should be focusing on EVs.
Yeah, or like pretty cool.
Literally anything else.
You know, there's a war in Ukraine, for God's sake.
They're out here making this stuff.
I love it.
I love it dearly.
I do too.
And I wish that I could get one in the States
with a three pedal manual.
Doesn't it?
It so looks like a seam a car, though.
Like that those rear haunts.
But in a cool way.
Like it looks like an OE Seema car, which is cool.
It looks like the GTV, honestly,
which also has that look.
I will say, I was driving around the GTD in
Palm Springs, maybe I just said this on the pod years ago.
And I got the feeling that people looked at me and were like, that guy modded his Mustang.
Yeah.
And I think that that's what people would think when you're driving.
And you see a lot of those out by 29 Palms.
Yes.
Yeah.
I know.
In Palm Springs, people were like, another modded Mustang.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
And that I would absolutely assume, okay, that guy got that body kit on eBay and it's probably
hanging together by zip ties.
But, well, this will be really cool.
Cool as hell.
And I'm pumped for it.
It's a good.
It's their mythos series.
And they have one of their car in that.
some like SLS roadster single hoop thing.
You're aware of this book?
The Mythos series?
Loosely aware of it.
Some sort of special series.
This is a way cooler one than an AMGGT or whatever they call it based one.
Yeah, but I'm serious, if this had been a black series of the 500 run, oh, how cool.
I'm surprised it's not.
Why is it?
Probably will become.
Mythos series.
I wonder if the 30 number has to do with some sort of model.
Remember, we've been told repeatedly that they can't get V8's legal in Europe.
And now here's a V8 that they're doing legal in Europe.
I wonder if they have to keep an insanely low production just to make that work.
You might think that your hazy, yellowed headlights look smoky and mysterious.
But really, you just look like a doofus.
And that is why I am excited for mothers and their new lens products.
They take care of those hazy yellowed lenses that age a car 10 years in a photo.
Doesn't matter how good the pain is, how clean the wheels are,
foggy headlights are one of the first things that reads as neglected.
And on an auction listing, that's the photo everyone's zooming in on.
The fix is Mother's new lens headlight renewal kit.
Attacks a powerball to any cordless drill,
add a ribbon of polish to the center,
and start the drill slow.
Work small overlapping areas until the lens is totally clear.
Buff it out with a clean microfiber towel and you're done.
No sanding, no masking, no experience required.
Re-apply once a month and they stay protected and looking brand new.
Mothers is the official car care of cars and bids.
Head to Mothers.com, give it that mother's love, and find the new lens kit.
This segment is sponsored by Asphalt Legends.
IMSA just landed in Asphalt Legends, and they built a real endurance format around it.
Three-minute races where the goal isn't finishing first.
It's getting as far as you can without wrecking.
You get bonus points for clean driving.
And an arcade racer, that completely changes how you drive.
You also get to pick a category before you go, GT or prototype?
Different challenges, different rewards.
I'm taking prototype.
Tell us in the comments which one you'd pick.
And the flagship car for the event is the Aston Martin Valkyri AMR Pro,
with an exclusive IMSA decal you can only get here.
But here is the actual reason to pay attention.
One person is going to the 24 hours of Daytona in January.
Two tickets, hospitality, flights and hotel covered for you and a guest.
Three steps.
One, download Asphalt Legends.
It's completely free on mobile, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
Two, play the first four stages of the IMSA Endurance Mode event.
because downloading alone isn't enough to enter you.
Third, register at the link in our description.
U.S. residents only, 18 and over.
Registration closes October 14th.
It's free to enter.
The Tesla Roeser is coming back.
It's going to be revealed on October 1st.
Yep.
All right.
It may fly.
Yep.
It may fly.
It's coming October 1st.
Everyone hold your breath and...
Okay.
Get ready to cash in those deposits you put down 17 years ago.
2017, 90 years ago.
It was announced in November of November of...
2017.
Yeah.
Nine years ago.
Yeah.
It was supposed to go on sale then.
And then earlier this year, he said it would be out in April of this year.
Wasn't.
Why is it taking so long?
Well, they don't build cars anymore.
They build mobility vehicles.
Automated mobility vehicles.
They build that heinous pickup truck.
Yeah.
And they build a lot of, here's the thing that surprises me.
It looks like the Model 3, but like slightly different bodywork.
Why did it take nine years?
Because they made a lot of statements
about what it could do.
For example, they said it could fly
and it could go zero to 60 and under two seconds
and have some unreal range.
It's not even special anymore.
It's supposed to have like jet packs on the back?
Yeah, it's supposed to have the SpaceX package
that is cold gas thrusters
that are super chilled and give like...
What I want an EV is a gas thruster,
you know what I mean?
They promised that they would...
Cold gas.
They promised that they would do zero to 60 under two seconds.
They took 10 years to come out with the car.
In the meantime, they themselves made a car
that does zero to 16 and under two seconds.
seconds the Model S. Platt. This car was so delayed that they beat it themselves with another car.
It was also supposed to be four seats somehow and 620 miles of range.
I suspect that none of that could be true. What's it going to cost up? I'm going to
when it was revealed, it was going to be $200,000. But I suspect that will not be the case.
I also don't know what they will show at this October 1st event in Texas.
So this car is going to, it's going to finally come out any day now.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're all waiting.
They're coming up on 10 years of this vaporware trash.
The teaser image has like a huge wing, upside down, but a huge wing.
And so maybe it'll be like this, but it was a giant wing.
Maybe that's like the next phase of the whole thing.
Don't you think this looks a little Aston Martin 177?
Yeah, it's a nice, it's a nice design.
Maybe they should have come out with an Aspen Martin 177.
Dude, don't you kind of worry that still there's not been one single successful two-door EV, like a sports car EV?
I mean, Monti Riemoff would tell you, for Gora says otherwise.
Ramach's entire strategy was, this isn't working, we're going to pivot.
No, disagree.
Okay.
Polestar 1.
Oh, it wasn't an EV, my bad.
Did you forget?
The, yeah, obviously.
It's funny because I mean, I would have delayed it, but not due to it being hard to engineer,
just be like, like, no one wants it.
When this car was first revealed, they didn't know that the two-door EVs wouldn't succeed.
However, since then, there have been several automakers who have attempted to make two-door supercar EVs,
which this was at that price point at that performance level.
They've all failed unequivocally.
I mean, it's all been a disaster.
Right.
And yet here we are, still talking about...
They kind of succeeded with the Tesla Road, sir, the first one.
What?
You think that was a success?
There's one in space.
I mean, it was a success in that it launched the company that has now become a bigger market cap than like any of the other big four somehow.
Yeah, but they could have just not produced that car and probably launched later.
With the Model 3.
Skip the S and X.
Oh, the S came first.
Yeah, S came first by a long time.
It's interesting.
This styling was very modern
and futuristic in 2017
and now it does just look like the Model 3.
Yeah, I'm surprised that they're still launching this.
This, by the way, is not what they're showing necessarily.
We don't know what they're showing.
You know what they're showing.
I'm over at all.
I've also heard that there's the rumors of the cyber SUV.
Oh, I've not heard of this.
The renders that I saw made it.
It looked a lot better as an SUV than it does.
Yeah, I believe that.
You think they're going to do a cyber truck SUV.
I mean, it's as equally as a bad idea as a...
They have otherwise made pretty clear that they're not really investing in their product lineup.
They're the cyber taxis or switching to robots and other robot things
because they think that the future is not self-owned or individually owned automobiles.
Man, so it's like over.
Like that short run, like where Tesla was a thing and like if you were like moderately successful,
you got one and then drove poorly.
Yeah.
That's over.
No, no, they're still driving poorly.
They are still driving poorly.
It is wild.
Tesla drivers are unquestioned for the worst drivers on the road.
They cars self-driving.
They're still terrible drivers.
How do you explain it?
I think it's like at Napleside.
I think they're like, oh, it's not my responsibility anymore.
And then they get like kind of rusty at it.
And so then when they do take over, it's...
I think that it's everybody's first cool car.
You know what I mean?
Like, it's an affordable, cool car.
It's an affordable fast car.
Everybody's like, I got a cool car.
I got a Tesla.
Even though yesterday afternoon I was in high school, you know?
Yeah.
And so then they don't know how to drive
because they don't know to drive a fast car,
and so they're like zipping around.
And practicing and channeling my inner Felipe over once he's gone.
So let's see it.
There's a website, Carson Bids,
that sells used Model 3s for super cheap.
Is that true?
It is now...
When was the last time we sold it?
I know we sell the good stuff,
but do we still sell Model 3s ever?
Yeah, you do.
And they go for like...
Oh, we got a plat on right now.
Yeah, you sold a Model S 90D for 12.
Not a lot of Model 3s.
The cyber chart that we sold last week,
65 is the most I've seen a cyber truck go for in a while.
They floored.
A plaid for 51.
Dude, plaids are...
A model S there for 14, 12, X is for 24.
I mean, they're so cheap now to the point where, yeah, it is like the best way to flex.
Why don't you buy this?
9,700?
Wow.
Does that have a third row.
Why didn't you buy this?
I don't know.
It is compelling.
And you're right, it did have a rear-facing third row.
No, this one did it, though.
It's pretty rare.
It is rare.
Okay, we got to move on to our next news story, which is...
The Artura.
This is the most bizarre news story I've ever heard in my last.
You told me today, you came in and said that Arturo is being canceled.
It's dead.
It's not an officially confirmed thing, however, to widely report it on that it'll be the final
model year 2020.
I barely knew that it was out.
It's been out six years.
That's not true.
I thought it was real.
It was revealed, but then I didn't go on sale for a while.
There was some issues with the early production.
It took like kind of out, but not really.
Forever to get it to market, I've never seen one.
Would you know if you saw one?
No.
I'm seeing them around more.
I think they look really nice.
I'm sad to never really, like in terms of their entire mile.
I think it's the best looking they offer.
Of the non-like-a-cona series.
What do you mean?
It's identical to all the others.
Are you screwing me?
No, I'm dead serious.
What makes it look better than anything else?
It's like their best revision of the same design.
You know what I mean?
Like, usually when automakers like try to take the Ian Callum design at Aston and like iterate and iterate,
and it just kind of gets busier over time, I feel like this was them nailing it and like
getting the styling perfect.
But then the car launch was such a flop that it never really worked.
It really was a flop launch.
I was there more or less, and I filmed it at a dealership early on,
and we did all these things with it.
It was like before it came out, it was like a pre-production car.
I had come into the dealership after hours to make this video.
It was a really big deal to new McLaren.
And then I did the video, and it was like two and a half years before the car actually got on sale.
They had a lot of quality issues.
They stopped production for a while to retool or something.
And I think all of those rumors and news stories really then squashed all the buyer confidence,
because they already knew buying a McLaren is a little role of the,
dice, but then the fact that this is the troubled McLaren from the get-go, like, it made it a hard
song.
It's also the first non-P-1 hybrid.
Yeah.
Although, I will say there's apparently going to be a replacement for it that is revealed
next year that's codename P-34, and that will also have a twin turbo v6 meta-2.
You know, 800-horsepower hybrid?
You know what the problem also is?
Truthfully, the 720s is so desirable and also depreciating quickly.
Yeah, they're getable.
And McLaren buyers, even new ones, are not.
they're not willing, they're not immune to buy in a used car.
They're all nuts, right?
So they're like, yeah, okay, it's cheap.
The 720s is the same price.
It looks better.
It's faster.
Let's go for that.
There was also, remember the GT was on sale around the same time.
And those got cheap for a minute because there wasn't great demand.
So the dealers were offering a lot on the hood to take those home.
So I think it was like, if you wanted the cheap new McLaren, you would get something different.
And if you wanted the fastest McLaren, you would get something different.
And it was kind of stuck in between.
It just seemed like it was an entry car,
though, like a 458 or whatever.
But I guess the thing about those cars is
they've all gotten so expensive
that you can't.
McLaren has a harder...
When the cars were 250
when they were making the MP412C,
it was a lot easier to sell
than now at 400 or whatever fully sticker
and you got a real competition there.
A lot of money to have people to pay.
The replacement will be more powerful,
about 200 more horsepower,
is what we're expecting,
which will be pretty cool.
And there is a replacement.
They're continuing with this trend,
just this model didn't have a long life cycle,
unlike every other McLaren.
And now that we can't buy Ford's,
higher on our list.
I will say,
there's another piece of McLaren news,
which is that they're apparently making an EV for a 2020,
sorry, an SUV for a 2020 launch.
Would you rather have a new Ford GT or one of these?
New Ford GT.
Do I get the price difference or no?
No.
I don't think there's that much of a price difference.
Strictly financially.
These are like 400, new Ford GTT can get one for like $650.
So it's like $250.
So it's like $250.
Yeah.
Do you get it in cash?
Is that what you're asking?
Yeah.
It's not like it's a million bucks versus $200.
It's close.
Well, what do you prefer?
What do you prefer is what I'm asking?
Like, is the cash, would that be the thing that changes your opinion?
I would want an Artaura with the difference of value in the cash and small and marked bills in the front.
Also, an Archer just, you know, starts at $255.
Yeah, but come on.
We all know what these cars call.
Option to $300.
Do you think of $400?
There's no option to $350.
There's no option.
Rebated back.
Yeah, that's true.
But at least creatively.
But anyway, taking money out of it, because apparently that's an enormous factor.
I'm just trying to say, what would you rather have?
All things that are to do you rather have?
He has to say Ford.
No what I said?
Oh, you forgot about, come on.
Totally forgot.
I don't say Ford.
It's such a more, and if I'm getting one for free, it's such a more interesting car.
This is an Artura?
Oh, I love that color.
Month and a half ago.
157?
Yeah, dude.
The price, their value retention is not significant.
I'm in at 157.
and I could buy that traverse in the background, too.
I'm so proud of you for knowing that's a traverse.
For 163, you could have them both.
Right.
Sticker was 2782.
Oh, my God.
It had 10,000 miles.
That's a cool color.
When did we sell this?
Dude, and things still under warranty.
This is a two-and-a-half-year-old car.
It lost $100,000 in value.
Yeah.
I'm going to talk about my G-Wagon, by the way.
We're going to get to that.
But regardless, I would rather have a new car that's 4x the value than this, yes.
No, but pretend money.
My point was, pretend you don't work for Ford.
Pretend money wasn't an object.
What would you rather have?
A new Ford Chutee is not usable, but I do think it's cooler.
I agree.
So which ones do you rather have?
I think that's exactly the point.
I'd still rather have a new fortitude.
Really?
Yeah.
Even though it's like not usable.
It's not usable.
I know.
If Felipe and I switch bodies like a freaky Friday.
Yep.
And I were leaving cars and bids,
I would be starting my own course on how I scaled cars and bids
and how I sold $40 billion of used cars.
And I would sell it to everyone.
and I would drive this in orange.
Yep, that's what you do.
That's exactly what you do.
Are you excited for their new SUV?
Yes.
Because McLaren said like six years ago, they're not building an SUV ever and now they're building a year.
Well, remember, Ferrari, Sergio Marcioni said you can build an SUV over my dead body and then he died.
Yep.
And they did.
They built one.
Built too.
Eventually, it all comes to fruition.
I am so excited for it.
I have not hated all of the SUVs.
I like the Puro-Slingway.
I think it drives amazingly.
I think the Kyan is awesome.
Nick's selling a rough one on the site, right?
right now.
I think that...
It's a beautiful one and it'll be sold by...
Yeah, it'll be done.
You're good.
I love...
I don't hate the Cullinan.
I love the Bantega.
What about the EURIS?
The EURIS, for what?
It's done for Lambo, let them have it.
The McLaren SUV and the Uris will be the two closest competitors.
Can you imagine the people are going to drive those?
I know.
Oh!
Miami is going to be flooded.
Oh, God!
It's going to be so deep Florida.
And they're going to go and they're going to be like,
all right, what credit card point system are you playing?
And did you buy it?
buy the McLaren SUV or the Lambo.
That's exactly what it's going to be like.
Next news story, please.
All right.
Land Rover.
Apparently, we talked a couple weeks ago about how Land Rover was probably partnering with Stalantis to build some cars in the U.S.
There's news this week that the first car they will build together is a defender pickup trucks.
I want to be clear about two things.
First off, it's first and last.
Yep.
There's no way that a Land Rover Chrysler partnership produces multiple cars.
These people, it's like a group of insane people
and a group of insane people.
You know, it's like when two insane people get married
and have an insane child.
Anyway.
Stop talking about me.
We're not bringing my wife into this, okay?
I thought you were talking about your parents.
But it makes sense to do a truck.
It makes sense for this to be the only vehicle
that comes out of this partnership.
Well, sure, because...
Guarantee for it to fail?
The chicken tax means that you basically,
If you're going to do a truck, you have to build it in North America.
You have to just build it in the U.S. now.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Tariffed.
They've tariffed everything else.
God, I...
Anyway, you have to build it in the United States, and so it makes sense that they're going to do that.
I just...
A Land Rover built by Chrysler.
This car will not move under its own power.
Stalantis, if it makes you feel better, it will help with the development as well.
I mean, so they're helping Land Rover develop.
Dude, I mean, they were helping Land Rover develop.
In the 90s in the 90s, all right?
Like, they've been known to do a thing or two.
Does that bother you, Filippo?
That they built.
Diablo's?
No.
But you ever think about that?
It's wild, isn't it?
It is.
There was an era, though, when all automated manufacturing factors
that kind of worked together at some point or another?
Yeah, bring back the Premier Auto Group.
Pull up a picture, if you will, of the, of the 90s, the second generation Dodge Dakota.
No, on the site.
I'm sure.
Oh, sure.
Okay.
I thought you're going to ask for Diablo.
Type in Dakota, and I'll tell you which one to go for.
Go down, go down.
Yeah.
That one, no, this one, do this one here.
Can I not do this one?
No, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah, with the...
The man who designed this car
designed the Lamborghini Diablo.
Whoa.
This is a better design.
Don't you think he should have pulled up up?
I mean that, too.
The man who designed this car,
his name was Tom Gale,
and he designed the Lamborghini Diablo.
I want that to be known.
A lot of people think Gandini did the Diablo.
I vehemently do not think that he did.
If you look at the whole history,
that is not how it went down.
But as Gandini's leg,
They decided to late in the Diablo's run put his name on it.
But he designed a proto Diablo that looked nothing like the actual car.
Instead, Chrysler came in with Tom Gale, designer of the 1997 Dakota,
and they said, please make something look cool.
And he gave us the Diablo, which looked cool.
You know it's wild.
So you could get the Dakota with a 5.9 lead of V8,
which is bigger than the Diablo.
However, guess the horsepower and the quarter of the
mile.
It was the 5-9 in the Dakota was 200 and, hang on.
Yeah.
2405 horsepower.
50 is what Google's saying.
And the quarter, I mean, it was the 5-9R-T.
Quarter was in 15-5?
Exactly 15-5.
Well done.
Nicely done.
Well done.
But like that's wild to help that big of a motor and do it that slowly by today.
Well, but it was a torque motor.
We have one right there.
That's a 5-9-R-T Dakota.
They're great design.
Tom Gale.
I was visiting my brother-in-law in Seattle a couple weeks ago, and we saw a RAM from this generation.
Yeah.
I went on like a long...
They're great.
Rant about how those redefined pickup trucks in America.
Yeah, they totally did.
And are just...
Tom Gale designed the RAM too.
And the Viper and the stealth.
I mean, the thing Chrysler had going for it was design.
Yeah.
Everything else was crap.
They built trash cars, right?
But they had design going for them.
It's this spot.
I swear we had one with incredible photos.
Those are pretty good, honestly.
The trailer mirrors that one down there.
Look at that.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's...
Look at that.
What a truck.
Yeah, it did change trucks in North America.
It allowed for some personality, whereas trucks previously had basically been...
Including the prior...
And then, like, let's make them look like semi-trucks.
And now they all...
Yeah.
Truly.
Yeah.
They threw fenders on it and at a specialized grill.
And it was like Ford was...
sudden was like, oh, and then they came out with that heinous F-150 in 97.
I didn't think it looked bad.
The 97-F-150?
It was not well-received when it came out.
Also, let's leave it at that.
Some crash issues.
Well, they all did at this time.
Anyway, the point is, the point is, Tom Gale, he did both.
Icon.
And that was the last time Chrysler hooked up with the Europeans, and it went horribly, by the way.
We got a buddy with the Diablo.
Yeah.
This, by the way,
it's still likely to be years from happening,
so I'm sure it will be a different...
Won't the defender be kind of done by that?
It came about, what, 2020?
It might be the next generation defender
that it's based on, who knows?
Could it just be based on a RAM?
Who knows?
Yeah, it might just be like the next gen Dakota.
Honestly, it wouldn't shy me if that's what they do
because they've been talking about
how they want to do a next gen Dakota.
And the defender is mid-size,
pickup size, so maybe that's how it's all going to shake down,
which would be horrible.
But not worse than a Chrysler Land Rover combo plan.
Next one, please.
What is...
This is...
This one is...
For those of you who don't listen
every week, Nick,
thought about buying an XC90,
instead he bought a Kia Sorrento
in some sort of off green.
And he's regretted it ever since.
And we see XC90s everywhere.
Yeah.
Just taunting us.
And part of the reason
we went to Srento was on paper.
They were, you know,
about 31 miles of EV range,
regardless of whether you got the KIA
or the Volvo.
And so you were like, okay,
well, like,
on paper they're comparable.
We can live without the luxury brand
and maybe some slightly less
nice interior appointments.
Yada yada yada.
Volvo just announced the XC60 and 90
are getting double the EV range
on their plug-in hybrids
from 31 miles to 73, I think,
90 and 71 on the,
or so the other way around, yeah, 71.
Big number, honestly.
Huge.
Is that the highest plug-in hybrid?
Yeah.
And so the executive said basically
the average distance someone drives in a day
is 22 miles.
So technically 31 should,
should be sufficient, but at 70-something, you're never going to use this.
Yeah, I mean, you'll end up getting 1,000, 2,000 miles per tank of fuel.
Yep.
The X-C-90 is a fantastic car, a really nice, great automobile.
Thanks for this consumer advice.
Really a wonderful, wonderful car.
Really, really a superb and excellent, luxurious, comfortable, high-class, high-quality automobile.
It looks good.
You made the interest. Yeah.
No, and our text thread three weeks ago, like, oh, no one would buy that.
It depreciates.
Oh, he wanted to buy one of his thing.
My G-Cab went up 37 cents a mile over 36 years.
It was $1.9.9 a mile over eight years.
And you were looking at X-C-90s that in two years we're going to cost $1,100.
Let me tell you what.
My trade-in offers on the Kia Sorrento, I've lost 10 grand on the car already.
Well, maybe don't sell it.
Don't sell it.
We're not.
I just got actual license plates on it.
Oh, that helps.
Damn, you got the new format?
Yeah.
Oh, look at you.
0.02A something.
You're joking.
You're 002A.
Yeah.
But that's...
Zero 2 is now the serious.
I know, but that's a good play.
I'm proud of you, Nick.
I am so proud of you.
You have...
You've turned over a new leaf.
You're a Kia man now.
We've been Kia men.
We both own Kia.
The three of us are Kia owner.
I lowballed a guy over Instagram yesterday for a L-460 with third row.
Neck.
And he has steel bumpers.
It's tight.
Negg.
Neck.
Why are you not thinking about defenders?
Once like 80 something now, I'm like,
we can't engage.
You know what?
By the way, the XC60 also has a facelift.
It looks slightly different now.
Slightly.
Also, the T-8 is the only one that has this.
The other trims are mild hybrid, not plug-ins.
Slightly is right, by the way.
These cars are soldiering on.
This is an XC-90, which came out 16?
Yeah.
The 60 came out in 18.
Yeah.
I mean, it's been 10, 12 years these cars are still going.
I think they weren't, my recollection is that they weren't
planning on facelifting either because the EX-9.
came out at the X-60.
The X-90 looked so much nicer.
They certainly devoted a lot of the development to the X-90
and now don't have the capability to redesign this car.
It's a shame because, yes, the X-90 looks so much nicer.
What I really want is a 70-mile plug-in range hybrid on an X-90.
Like, that's the dream.
They're also coming out with a couple new colors,
which having shopped Volvos, your options otherwise are like silver, black, white.
No, it sounds like a really muted blue and a really muted green.
Like, they're all basically gray with, like, a hint of some other color.
Which is what you're...
Except for...
Do you know the color, Felipe?
I don't think they do rebel blue anymore.
Bursting blue.
Oh, it's...
Pull it up.
You remember bursting?
I like the...
You used to be able to get the X-C-90s and red.
Like the bright Ferrari red?
So cool.
Yes, you could use the art designs.
Bursting blue is the best.
I have a friend who has a bursting blue.
Oh, that is nice.
Okay, next news story, please.
Hey, by the way, this is why you can buy it.
Because it's 16 grand.
This is a high number.
You can see what someone's going for.
Pull up lowest.
Go back and go to lowest price.
There was a T8.
That was a T8, Nick.
Well, and it's funny, prior to 2023, the plug-in hybrid range was like half of what it is now.
It was like 15 to 20 instead of 31.
Now you understand why people lease these cars because the technology improvements are happening so quickly,
and you can kind of move on.
You've already lost, by purchasing the queue, you've already lost as much as the lease.
So, yeah.
Credit of all, 70 miles is by far the most EV range for a plug-in hybrid.
And there's no, as far as I can tell, like loss of additional cabin space,
the trunk space and that thinks he's the same.
Yeah, if they can do it all at 70 miles, it's fine.
I don't care how it looks, honestly.
And not to keep bringing up a source subject, but Ford doesn't have a plug-in hybrid
explorer.
So, you know, that's right.
If someone over there would just get on it, we would have been in an explorer.
We would hate it.
We would hate it.
We would hate it, but I would begrudgingly buy it anyway.
Next.
Gavin Newsom our dark lord governor.
Don't you think so?
He's got great hair.
But you only do you think he looks like a movie villain?
Oh, for sure.
I wouldn't trust this guy to watch my dog while I got a coffee.
Anyway, he is signed into law.
I'm going to tell you a story here.
He signed Leno's law into law, so now cars are completely going to be getting January 1 of 28,
emissions exempt through 1980, and it's going to roll through 86.
And I have to assume that by the time at all ends, they're going to make a further exemption to.
I mean, we assume that originally, but...
Well, they eventually did.
They did it today.
So, that's signed into law.
Now, I want to talk about the low-rider license plate.
There is a new, in theory.
I haven't walked to this.
While signing this bill into law, exempting cars from, and they chose a Bronco from that era, from 74 to 80 and then through 86 from admissions, finally.
He also signed a bill into law authorizing the low rider license plate.
But like all license plates in California, it requires 7,500 people to agree to do it in order for it to go into production.
The number of organizations that have attempted, that have succeeded in getting a license plate passed with a 7,500 threshold,
is zero. It has never happened.
So there will be no low rider license plane.
I thought this circumvented that.
Like that's a standard process, but through the bill,
through the legislature.
It should, but no, in this case,
the bill is signed to allow the organization
to start collecting signatures for somebody.
They haven't until 2032 to do it.
They will not get it.
You know how many Montana requires?
50. Zero.
You have to pay a $4,000 one-time fee.
Really?
Why there's so many insane Montana plates.
It's nothing.
Like, Doug and I could right now come up with a license plate and chip in two grandees.
That's where that heinous rural fire one that we have back there is just a photograph of a fire station.
Maryland requires only 20, Maryland has the most license plates of any U.S. state, most options.
They only require 25 people in your nonprofit to sign up and then you have a license plate.
California requires 7,500 and no organization has ever met the threshold in the history of California.
Now, I know what you're thinking.
Wait a minute.
There have been some license plate.
Yeah.
So how did that happen?
The 49ers plate, which is the most.
recent one, got up to like 3,000 orders, and then the owner of the 49ers personally purchased
the remaining 4,500 plates and distributed them for free to people in order to get to 7,500.
Same with the breast cancer plate.
It was the exact same thing.
They got to 3,000 or 4,000, and then the breast cancer organization bought the remaining
3,500.
Can you just buy all of them?
Yeah, I guess so, but it's incredibly expensive.
$50 a plate.
What does that cost?
Not that much.
$7,500 times $50 a plate.
If your organization...
375 grand.
If your organization has a half-mill, you can just do it all.
I mean, that's an easy price of entry.
Isn't that unbelievable?
That's wild.
However, with the 49ers one, the state was still a stickler about it.
They said, you're fine to do it for free, but you still have to find 7,500 people to take it for free.
And then the 49ers were trying to, like, beg people.
Like, we've done this.
You have to take these.
At that point, just buy every car.
Buy 7,500 cars.
That's why.
It's easy.
Anyway, no low rider license plate, even though it's been signing a law.
What a shame, because it'd be cool.
but unfortunately it won't happen.
We've got to figure out the place to get the signatures
and we can share it on this pod and maybe help.
Dude, there's a NASCAR one that failed, like yesterday.
There's a biking one that failed.
We could announce all of them and they would all still fail.
You have to, like, if members, George,
you have to make a commitment and pay now,
but it might not actually happen for years.
And they refund you.
No, they have through 2032.
They'll refund you in six years if it didn't work.
You get your 50 bucks back.
Or you'll get a plate for a car that you sold five and a half years ago.
That happened to all the 49ers people because that was like 10 years ago.
And so no one still has the car they signed up for their 49ers platform.
It's become total pandemonium in the DVD.
Not a great system.
Yeah, California is terrible again.
But we at least have cars exempted from Smog through 1980.
Shout out to Jay Leno.
And eventually 86.
It's cool that they did it at Jay's garage and like did a whole thing.
Yeah, somebody understands PR.
Yeah.
The Dark Lord.
The Dark Lord himself.
All right, next news story, please.
I think that's it on news.
I want to move on to the Talk Cars Bank.
There's a lot to talk about it.
We're already an hour in, too.
I know.
Oh, my God.
It's a problem.
It's okay.
It's okay.
And you were like, oh, we got to shorten the news segment.
It's too long.
There's a lot of good news this week.
There's a lot to talk about the talk cars segment, starting with this is a photograph of me and Hoovey next to an EB 110.
Wow.
Yeah.
I also want to move on to this next.
You had good hair then.
I want to move on to the next one, too.
Me and Sean just saw this.
Really?
Here's a person where the Forrester.
They're bragging that they have an infinity QX-80.
What?
Can you imagine?
You can't let go of that plane?
Personalizes his license plate to brag about having a mediocre car
and then puts it on a different mediocre car.
Have you ever seen anything like this before?
What sense does this make?
That's insane.
How did that possibly happen?
Why did they retain it?
Why did they retain it?
And also, I don't think they're retaining it.
I think they're parking it, hoping that they eventually move up to a QX80.
But who goes from a Forrester to a QX80?
Doug, that plates two years expired.
It's also two years' expired.
So it's probably still registered to an Infinity QX80
and the cop's going to be like,
I think something's a little off here.
I was trying to check, but it doesn't pull back.
If you're going to run around with expired plates,
don't have a vanity plate for the wrong car.
Colorado.
It's going to really bring the wrong attention.
Just a regular plate for God's sake.
They're getting around to it.
It's on their to-do list.
They're going to register.
Unbelievable.
No VIN comes back, probably because it's two years out of day.
Infinity QX80.
Just even having a QX80 with a QX80
with a QX80 vandity plate is an embarrassing.
I agree.
Because like what are you bragging about?
Putting it on a forester.
Anyway, Sean and I saw that and we thought it was...
That's incredible.
Can we go back to the EBO Y?
It's who V&MNX?
Umbi 1-10.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Including it for fun.
A couple of things to say.
You can leave it up, honestly.
Oh, sure.
Yeah.
My G-500 cabri-rella sold.
It's going to South Florida.
Oh, wow.
It's sad that it's leaving carb certification.
Well, yeah.
That's sure.
That was not a value add to them.
Are you sad?
No.
Okay.
It's interesting how values have shifted on those.
There was a period of time when they were the hottest thing in the world.
I think there was a day when I could have gotten $2.75 for that car.
But I was using it as a vehicle at the time.
Right.
All of my Instagram feed has all these G-Wagon like owners groups commenting,
all thinking it should have gone for more.
But it's the people that currently own them and have a value in their head of where they wanted to do.
I looked and I cannot find another.
sale where one with my mileage, with over 100,000 miles sold for that much.
Bring a trailer, lesser business.
Yep.
They sold a 70,000 mile one for 207, and I got 210 for my 100,000 mile one.
And it didn't go to a dealer, honestly.
A dealer didn't sell it to a dealer.
I think that it was a totally fair result.
I'm happy for the next guy.
He seems happy with it.
Don't you think with the new one coming out by Mercedes that a lot of the buyers that
won it are going to say I'd rather have a new one?
I think there are, the old one is definitely.
cooler. It's obviously has some benefits, including that it's like smaller. However, there are
definitely people who are like, instead of buying this weird imported 26 year old thing, I'm just
going to wait and buy one at a dealer with a warranty that I could trade in. So I think I'm happy
it's gone. And I think the number was fair. And that's that. I am selling the 993 turbo.
We knew that that's live. I am also selling my blue white 4GT. Whoa.

We had no idea.
Much like him departing.
This is all breaking news.
The thing that I'm selling it is because he's going to Ford,
and to erase any appearance of impropriety, I need to sell my Ford GT.
Hey, didn't you buy a different Ford GT?
I don't remember that.
But look, the point is I'm selling it, and I am selling it in a very special way.
Cars and Bids is doing an event at Willow Springs.
Willow Springs is doing the events, a racetrack near Los Angeles.
They're doing an event called Willow Springs Reimagined.
He's chilling.
Saturday, October 17, and we are actually doing a live sale of some cars there.
going to be auction on the website as well.
But you can also go and see the cars in person and check it out at Willow Springs Management.
My Ford GT is going to be one of the cars that is going to be there, along with a lot of
other cool stuff, including a V6 Clio.
October 17th.
October 17th.
October 17th.
Are you going to be there?
I might be there.
Oh, my God.
Really?
You're still going to go to our events?
I will still absolutely go to front of the best.
That weekend is a little up in there, but I will absolutely go to car.
You're still going to see Felipe.
Of course.
If you want your car to be at this very special event, you can still see.
submit it where you're looking for great stuff. Yeah, no ford.
Great stuff. Really cool cars. You can submit it. Willow Springs Reimagined event on our website.
If you've got a Corvette, a Camaro, an Astra. What I want, what I want is a vector W8.
That's the level of car at a minimum, at a minimum. Willow Springs Reimagined.
We're trying to get together a group of like really, really. And we do have some incredible ones going,
but we've got room for one or two more. Anyway, my Ford GT will be there. My Ford GT is selling on cars and
bids.
This is the end of the Ford G.
I will miss that Ford G.
That's one I'll actually bid on.
So that's sad.
You'll bid on that?
Yeah, if it's no reserve.
How lovely.
I will miss that car.
I know there may be another one in our lives,
but that car you've had for such a long time.
I've driven that car.
It's been in our lives for nine years now?
Eight years.
I think the problem is the,
the simicad.
The spec on it just not clowny enough.
Don't you want to be a reminder of a clown?
And like, if you forget how many kids you have,
how do you know if it's not on the same?
the side of the car. That's exactly right. You need to be reminded. I'm exactly right. I will
vaguely miss the car. I never warmed up to the color. It is a very special car mine,
but we'll get into that when it goes live. Yeah, which is October 6, I think.
But now the 9 and 3 is live, the G wagon's gone, things are changing. Got that E55 wagon,
got a super, stuff's leaving, stuff's going. There is a lot of flux here. Okay, you just sold
the G500. Yeah. Yesterday, before that formally like,
wire transfer happened.
Yes.
How many cars did you own?
10.
I remember like two years
where you were like,
I can't have more than six cars?
Yeah, 10 is too much.
But it's a limbo period.
When it all is said and done,
I will end up with seven.
Yeah.
Which I think is the right number for me personally.
One of them will live on the East Coast
and my buddy Bruce is going to take care of it.
That doesn't include the Wrangler.
Seven will include the Wrangler.
That car's gone, so you're a nine.
The E55 wagon's not.
Oh, okay.
You're just, you're already moving that one.
Well, I need it for, I needed it for a purpose.
It will hopefully fulfill its purpose.
Fingers cries.
You're actually in your third trial.
The third child will come home in that car.
In the husband, that car, which I actually love the car.
Is your plan to sell it the day after?
No, but I imagine within the next year I go.
Oh, sure, sure.
Sell it.
Probably before I buy the Jeep.
So I don't think there's going to be a seven, eight car kind of thing.
We're going to buy it.
Will you help me buy this, uh, Rangler 392?
Sure.
Well, here's what I'd like for you to do.
Here's what I'd like for you to do.
I'd like for you to come to me to the dealership with me.
I'd like for you to take a look at the car and test drive at four separate times.
You're no stranger to that.
And then I'd like you to scream at the dealership salesperson.
Can you...
You have some experience in this.
Yeah, I'm a natural.
Do you have any neighbors that own Jeep dealerships where they're...
That we can create an awkward situation.
Probably, probably.
No, I'd be happy to negotiate.
I think I'd do better than Felipe would.
Because Felipe also has had his share of trying to negotiate.
I think that regular three deals are lessened the man than Sequoia Charity Pro, but hey,
maybe not.
I'm starting to think there's some wisdom of your approach, which is just paying what they ask for and not haggling.
Well, you know, the G-Cabrio, as an example of that, if you buy the right car, it's so funny,
I bought my G-Cab for $135,000, $133,000, and everybody thought it was insane for paying so much, including you.
And I just sold it for $2.10.
Yeah.
And I can't believe you paid so much.
Well, I parked money in a car for a while and got out of it.
Kios Lorenzo's a different story.
Audi A2, a different story.
I didn't, that was the business.
Sean lost all that money and went to his budget.
My point is that if you are smart, things can go okay.
Now, on that subject, I want to talk about some of your situations.
You are selling a lot of cars as well.
You have your Kyan GTS that will be sold by the time this pod goes live.
Correct.
You have your SLR coming up.
Yep.
Your E-55 is doing great.
right?
It's doing great other than fifth and sixth
that have left the chat.
A lot of cars only have four gears.
I think it's just a shift or bushing
or something that has gone bad,
but I don't know yet.
So it's drivable, but I don't,
freeway unless I want to go in fourth
and like really bring it out.
It's probably not great.
I said to him, I said, you can't really,
this car's broken.
He says, it's not broken.
I used up to fourth.
I said, what about the freeway?
He said, I can go forth.
I'm like, yeah, but you're at 6,000 RPM.
He's taking it camping with his daughter this weekend.
The Range Rover convertible, which I brought here,
the roof still isn't fixed.
They're waiting for materials to come in.
So I have that car I can't really use, the SLR I can't use,
the Kyanne I can't use.
I have five cars and really only one is in functioning care.
It's a Kia Sorrento, which you don't want to use.
So Nick, Mr. Crazy Nick,
who has all these cars and buys cars, sells cars,
crazy all the time, has too many cars.
It has no vehicles to drive.
Do you know what the silver lining is?
My wife goes,
perhaps you've overcorrected and need to buy a car.
Whoa!
So I have permission.
Wow.
So, but the SLR, we refer to the SLR exclusively in our group as the slur.
The slur is going and the Kyan is going.
And then you really, you have some cash in your pocket.
I'm looking forward to that feeling.
15 grand plus whatever the SLR sells for.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, I think.
I'm looking forward to that feeling.
Things are looking up.
Yeah.
It's always darkest before dawn.
I actually, for the first time ever,
had to pay credit card interest this month.
Despite being at like what should be the highest earning years of my life,
I've somehow had lifestyle creep outpace earnings.
You must have money that is...
Nick.
You bought those tables.
Yeah.
Well, thankfully, I had some cash hit Monday so I could pay off the credit card.
How are you such a degenerate?
I don't know.
I realized I met Hoovie.
I bought Hoovie's car.
And along with it came Hoovie's spirit.
Like suddenly I'm having to sell cars to pay for things
Are you going to be Hawkingin 2995 Buick Regals?
Yep
Because speaking of, can you go to the Hoovie website?
Let's see what he's got today.
The Hoovey lot, yes.
Can I?
Yeah, let's see what, let's see what Hoovys got for sale today on the site there.
At some point, someone's going to tell Hoovey that we do this.
TNA Ventures?
And he's going to tell me to cut it out.
LLC is his title tag?
Yeah, because it was Tyler and Ann.
Hoovie, Hoovie, hit me up for some SEO help.
All right, go, yeah, is this title, I know.
Go down, get on.
Let's see what he's get out.
Oh, Corvette now.
Oh, he sold that Regal? Keep going.
I don't want to see the good stuff.
Keep going.
Come on, let's see the low end.
What can we get?
50.
Oh, the renegade's still there for seven.
That's it.
He got rid of the Regal.
He sold that Regal.
And he sold the Fiat 500 for three grand.
This is a manual Jeep, folks.
Romagnol and limited.
Oh, yeah.
The Hover lot has actually increased,
although there's now two cheap Titans.
Yeah.
Okay.
So anyway, you have no cars to drive,
but you are selling your Kyan.
That's good.
Yep.
Kion's gone.
I'm sad about the SLR,
but I'm curious to see where that one lands
and then that'll dictate how much we have to play with
for the next car.
Which could be a Ford GT.
We're hoping it's a Ford GT.
My Ford GT?
We'll see how it goes.
If it's like your G-Cab or it gets way more
than it's worth, then I'm out.
Okay, I want to move on to the market report.
I have to talk about my truck.
Oh, wow.
I'm sorry, I have.
Because it's a Ford.
Yeah.
And it's contractually obligated.
I would like to share that my truck now
have new wheels.
Jim Farley is watching this.
going, yes.
Wait, you know what he has to talk about his truck?
You know why he has to talk about his truck?
Because he made some deal with the wheel and tire company that he would talk about the truck.
And he was like, give me.
And he's like, I'm getting off the pod and two pods.
I got to get this out.
All I cares is that they're free.
If the sidewall is completely the wrong size, I'll take them.
It is really not.
It is really not.
It has new wheels from Nomad, which looks really good.
And new tires from Nokia.
And I realized driving the home.
the sun did over approximately 50 years.
It is incredible what new tires will do.
I don't mean this is an adept for Nookin,
although they are like our tire people.
And they make great tires.
But I mean that sincerely.
They don't get paid.
He's getting paid.
You've got to want to.
There's no bias here.
It was a wild moment.
I was driving the truck home from getting the new wheels and tires put on.
And I was coasting and it was just quiet.
And that was not true on my 30-year-old tire on it before.
They're so much better.
He was driving home wearing his Warby Parker sunglasses and his chubby shorts with a Helix mattress in the back.
Thank goodness for Morgan and Morgan.
Meeting with his attorneys.
Can I ask you the obvious question?
What do you keep in there?
I should look.
I honestly don't know what's in there.
We are now started now that it has new wheels and tires and is much more drivable safely than before.
We've got to start the, we'll probably try to clear code it and we need to start the interior restoration.
Can I ask you the next obvious question?
Yeah.
And I think we're all thinking this, so I'm just going to say it.
I think even the crew.
If you open that in a human hand is inside.
I have opened it.
There's just some stuff in it.
I don't believe there any hand.
But what would you do if there was a human hand inside?
I think I would call the police?
Really?
Because didn't you inherit this truck from a family member?
Like, would you call the police?
Would you just kind of throw away the hand and be like, I didn't know about that?
That family member is dead.
Yeah, I know.
So I think persecution can be tough.
Well, persecution would not be tough.
He can still be persecuted after he dies.
Look at Jesus.
I bet you TNA Ventures in Wichita, Kansas would take it on a trade for top dollar.
I legitimately love this truck.
It just starts up surprisingly well.
It drives surprisingly well.
It's honest.
And the wheels are tired.
He's talking up a Ford.
We hate this truck.
This truck is trash.
It's built by Ford.
Bad manufacturer.
To Nomad, I'll put up some better photos on.
on Instagram.
Thank you to No.
Thank you to No.
Ken for finally getting
Felipe into some safety.
What are these tires?
Those, the back,
the one that looks good
is the fifth wheel for it.
The other ones are the old ones.
I have six additional wheels.
They're next to my house now.
And I,
oh God, he's one of those.
I need to get rid of that.
Oh, man.
Because I don't want.
I can't.
Thinking I grew up in Ohio,
he's got wheels and tires
next to his house.
What's wrong with that?
Yeah.
Doesn't he also have a camper shell
for his, for his super duty there?
No, we left that, man.
on jack stands sitting on cinder blocks?
that what he's doing?
That hits a little too close to him.
We're offended.
Okay, I want to talk about the market report.
We've got to go fast in Markerport
because there are amazing questions this week.
The Marker Report is brought to you by Tyler
and Doug Stanning Extra Bugata EB-110.
Oh, sure.
Tyler and Doug St.
Next to Bugatti EB-110.
What else might happen?
That's our slogan.
Where did this come from?
That's a super sports, too.
I can't speak to what it is.
It's got the little circles behind the window
and then the vents and the...
I don't know anything about it.
Yeah.
Uh, okay.
Marker Report.
This picture, I'll tell you the straight,
because now people are going to conjecture that.
Picture is like 10 years old and I just found it today.
I was like, oh, it's me and Hoovey next to me, B110.
Because, yeah, I don't even have a beard in that.
This was like, this was at the old symbolic cars and coffee.
Remember you?
Oh, I remember seeing that there, yes.
Who became one time, I guess.
Anywho, the market report,
DB9, pull up the DB9.
We had some strong DB9 six.
Yeah.
And I'm starting to wonder.
And some real nice ones, too.
Yes.
And I'm starting to wonder,
Kenyon sold that one for 100.
It was a stick, it was a coop, it was low miles,
it was the right one to sell for 100.
But I was thinking it was an outlier.
And then a couple days ago, we sold this.
You know who that is, right?
It's Walties.
Steve Waldy, my hero.
I've tried to buy multiple Diabloes off him.
Well, this car, 16,000 miles, also a manual, brought 75.
In my mind, this is a $35,000 car.
Now, the manual helps.
DB9 manuals are much rarer than Vantage.
For example.
Yeah, here's an auto that did sell.
for 325, but also with a lot more miles.
It's interesting, manual DB-9s.
Yeah.
That's, I didn't really see common.
Manual Aston's, and I think that's like the right age where it's analog, not too analog.
And the V-12, the vantage is a lot more common with a manual, and you don't get a V-12 until
much later, and those are a lot more expensive.
This is kind of a cool thing, and they're starting to...
DPSs are also up.
Stratman, Stratman bought a DBS.
A couple, like, DBSs are becoming kind of hot.
It's on my list.
Yeah.
We sold the V-12 Vantage with a manual recently-ish for 203.
Yeah, the V-12.
These are a lot more expensive.
Supercar Ron just bought one of those.
Like, they're cool.
But I'm pretty impressed with that result.
And with the fact that, like, the market finally seems to be recognized that
Aspen Martin's or a deal.
I bought that one.
Remember I had in Philly two years ago I had that car?
Speaking of going to dealership.
I went to the dealership with you.
To buy your vantage.
To buy your vantage.
To the dealership in Washington, D.C.
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah, yeah.
I drove your range over back now.
Damn, I didn't remember that.
It wasn't photo worthy.
Just an EB-110 at Cars and Coffee.
I support that.
But the market seems to finally be waking up to the fact that Ashton's are a pretty good.
And V-Avantages have been flat for a year.
I think part of it, though, is that Ferraris and Lambos, the Italians are having such a run.
Yeah.
People are now saying, oh, 100 grand doesn't buy me.
I can't even get a 355 for that now.
Yep.
So where is their value?
Where else can I get something cool?
Yeah.
V8 advantages are way too.
This car, right didn't you buy this?
for 29?
You have too many cars.
You have cars are broken down
and you can't just get a cheap vantage
for a couple of weeks.
I thought about low-balling Johnny today
to see if I could rent it for like a month.
Our coworker Johnny has a manual vantage coupe.
I think that those are great values.
The thing that worries me about Aston ownership
is dealing with all the people of cars and coffee
be like, oh, James Bond, huh?
Sheenken nutster.
Trust me.
I don't think that happens at Cars and Coffee.
However, I did get pulled over years ago
driving mine by Pennsylvania State.
Trooper and he walked up, the first thing he said was, you're going pretty fast there, Mr. Bond.
That's my contribution to the market report. Do you guys have anything?
Pull out the RS4. I want to talk about the ARTH4. That was wild. You see this?
Yeah, oh, it did no miles to it. Yep. This is the second highest RS4 result I can find publicly.
Ever. Well, some of the stickers were higher, but we'll move on. Well, sorry, an auction result
in recent history. The only one that was higher had like 800 miles. Yeah. This is going to be one of the
It's this B7.
It's so clean.
The B7s have all been clapped by people like you.
Thanks.
And so am I wrong?
No.
They're so modulful.
It's hard not to.
But so you look at the interior pictures.
Yeah.
And it's like like what...
Especially those white seats.
The platinum leather is what they called it.
It was really hard to keep nice.
Last time you saw one that looked like this was like at the auto show when you were a kid, you know?
Like I can't believe there is still a B7 that is this clean.
There's no like weird hand residue on the shifter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The little buttons in the center, like go back to these.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, those peel really easily.
The carbon cracks really easily.
This car is so clean.
Following, I'm still pretty active in the B7 R-H4 community, and I was waiting for my Avant to be legal.
But this is sort of, this is a grill car.
Like, people will talk.
Anyone who's ever had an R's 4 would look at this and say, I love that car, I just
wish it were new or nicer.
It makes sense that they're finally getting respected.
Yeah.
I think they've always had respect.
They've floored at some point and didn't get lower than X amount.
There are some really cheap ones out there, but a decent R-S-B-7-R-S-4 has always had value.
If you didn't mind more miles, you could get a R-8 with the same motor manual gated for 75.
So the RS4, a nice RS4 is now worth as much as an R-A, which is well.
What's this one for 34?
Like, how many miles does that have?
30,000 miles.
90,000 miles.
If you want a decent driver spec, when 30 is roughly what you would expect to pay.
More if you want a nicer one, slightly less if you want a headache.
Yeah.
They're cool.
And they're so subtle.
They look great.
One of the first auctions you guys had was a Sprint Blue R's 4, and me and C.J. Wilson went on a bidding war.
And I lost it by like, yeah, nothing.
20 grand now, I bet this is easily double that.
How many months?
130.
No, that's worth still.
No, more than 20 was Sprint blue.
35.
Yeah.
I regret not.
I'm sure CJ would have kept one-upping me.
Like, he had a much deeper pocket.
It was literally like the first month of course.
Look how bad the pictures are.
We were like desperate.
Look at this.
Look at these photos.
They're so bad.
What a different time?
Nick could have swooped in.
I was the underbitter.
And this is one that I regret.
See, J. Wilson probably sold that to some unsuspecting Bay Area Techbro for 65, like the next one.
Well, he was gobbling up all the B7 hours for us at the time and then marking them up.
But because he knew it was a hold.
Can I give you a fun fact?
I wrote this listing.
Really?
Yeah.
Back in the day.
OG-Pilippo!
I just confirmed.
Oh, G. Philippo.
Different time.
I want to move on to the questions unless you want to talk Bantega, but the questions are really good.
Let's move on.
The questions this week are amazing, and every week you can ask us questions.
You go to our YouTube video, and then Sean has figured out some way to post a link.
I don't understand it, but it's in the comments.
You click a link, you post questions.
You post your questions.
It's been a revolution.
The questions are 10 times better than they used to be.
You can also just go to posts, and you can find the most recent posts there.
It's beautiful.
It's beautiful. The questions are good.
So go on there, ask us questions.
Sean is periodogging.
Do not let him talk to us.
By the way, if you want to just scroll over
from posts to the store,
we have some incredible new virtual.
Oh my gosh.
Chill.
A couple of cold ones,
pint glass like I'm using right now.
Okay.
The next shirt's going to say,
Furn,
fix or repair daily.
Found on road dead.
Found on road dead.
Okay.
Questions.
The first question,
there's so many good questions.
The first question is...
And ask questions next week for Felipe.
It's your last chance.
Oh, yes.
Yeah.
This week is your...
your last chance to ever ask Felipe questions about operations?
I want every question next week to be Felipe related, and I will only ask questions directed at the Felipe.
Agreed, though.
Okay.
Here's one.
For us, Felipe.
Yeah.
A crying MSX asks, can you do a ranking on all generations of Nissan Altum?
Of course.
Third gen.
Once a second.
Obviously.
I got to remember how they define the first two, because the first two are distinct.
No, no, I know.
I know.
I want to make sure I add that right.
The first two are not as distinct.
They're completely different cars.
93 to 96 and 97 to 01.
Completely different cards.
The third gen is by far.
Third gen is the absolute all-time.
The SER.
Yep.
It gave us, it saved Nissan.
Save Nissan.
The teal color.
Pull it up.
Have we ever sold?
We must.
Type in Ultima.
See what we've sold.
We must have sold SERs.
Hold on.
Which gen you're saying third?
The fourth gen is number two.
There.
Look at that.
Hold on, though.
You're missing one thing, though.
The fourth gen came as a coop.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think that gives an advantage over the third gen.
No, no.
Third Gen, to this day, if you're in Nashville, they talk about how the third-gen-s saved Nissan.
Literally.
Well, that's where they're-uport.
I see.
Third-gen-save Nissan.
Fourth-gen is the second.
Although just all around the city.
You can talk about it.
The fourth-gen was pretty good, and they did a big V-6 in that, too.
And also, it was the start of the CVT.
Which has defined Nissan sense for better or words.
I would put the third-gen first, the fourth-gen-second.
Yes.
And every other Ultima was utter trash.
you know what else is funny
let me think about that for a second
every car in the Fast and the Furious one
ended up being like a highly tunable
excited desired car
Vince's ultimate maximum
oh it's a maxima
that's right
yeah yeah
Vince had a had a
third gen maxima
and those are cool
you could get like still in superchargers
and mod those
for the record third gen number one
fourth gen number two
I would put the sixth gen
gen the current number three
and then the second
no fifth gen which is bad
fifth gen had a V6
you could still get a
a 3,500. You're right. So it goes
3-4-5-6-2-1.
No, no, no. First-gen was better than second-gen. No question.
I don't know, man. The second-gen... No. The second-year...
The second-year... 6-1-2.
The second-gen was iconic in its own way.
The 6-gen is just a mediocre trash.
It was boring. No. The first-gen was this... It had infinity-esque styling.
It was this brand-new thing. They had hubcaps and wheels that made it look luxury.
You're right. It had the grill. That was like the infinity...
Remember, there was no keyhole in the trunk
you moved the Nissan logo out of the way?
All right, fine.
It goes 345612.
345612.
I could even be convinced 345-162.
The 6 is actually not a...
It's bad.
Bad car.
It's competitive.
It's bad.
By the way, there was a manual available
in everyone till the 6-gen,
till the 5th gen, excuse me.
I almost bought an Ultima coupe.
That doesn't surprise me at all.
I really wanted a 350 Z, but it didn't have a rear seat,
and I thought my dog needed somewhere to sit.
And so the Ultima Coup was kind of like
the more practical,
less flashy.
Like, I thought a 3F3Z was too flashy
for someone in their 20s.
Yeah.
And so the ultimate coup was like a finalist
before I got my accurate TSX.
Yeah.
Nick was a Japanese car guy.
In fact, today he said to me,
all the NSXs were coups, right?
Not that one.
Well, not most of them.
Targa, you can bait.
Yeah, no, I was thinking convertible.
Not.
So you knew they had Targas?
Yeah, I was saying there was never a convertible NSX.
God, sakes.
That's insane.
By the way, Nikki Loub, folks.
Yes.
By the way, I point to that one because we will be selling accurate prototype from the Ironman movies.
They cannot.
They can't see.
He's got to get in a year's worth of promo.
Okay, next question from Mark Myers-9447.
This is a quick response.
Straight up right now, make the call.
Will Rivian survive?
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
They're building cars in Illinois.
Come on.
Normal.
They're going to survive.
That plan has a history of making fantastic automobiles.
They have a new plan.
opening up in Georgia.
That's right.
There's a chance that things change, right?
You have to keep in mind that Rivian has some very large automakers as their investors.
Volkswagen owns something like 20% of Rivian.
There might be some consolidation submerging, but I think fundamentally is right.
Do you think they're worried about the Tesla Roadster launch and that eating away their sales?
No.
And I think to his point,
anytime you have an automaker backing you, you're set like Pontiac.
I think that you will, I think that they, and Saturn.
You will have no problems.
In Mercury.
Yeah.
You will have no problems from that.
I think Rivian's good, probably.
Their brand name is not quite strong enough
that I think they're through the woods yet.
But they're selling a lot of cars.
Like, I think they'll survive
because they're actually selling automobiles.
Johnny Lieberman has one, for God's sake.
And Sam.
Our friend Sam, who's going to be on the pod.
They or may not come on this podcast.
I can't promise anything.
He's been on other things.
He hasn't even been in the last two weeks.
I don't know if Sam's going to be on the pod,
but he might.
And if he does, he'll tell us about it.
You know where Sam is?
Beniana.
And he's driving his car that has.
I'm thrilled that you're selling that 993
because now I have the Porsche
with the most horsepower of the group
after he sells his fire GT also though.
Regular Porsche.
Oh, regular Porsche.
Well, Sam, Sam by the Boxer Spider, but that's not enough.
Next question from Little O.O.O., dear Doug,
you have infamously purchased, I think famously, not infamously.
I don't think it's criminal.
We don't know. We don't know.
Purchase cars in their press color, regardless of color.
Was there everyone you thought was so bad
that it almost made you break your own rule?
the flip side was there
non-press color
that was so good
you wanted to break it.
Yeah, I often don't want
to buy the press color,
but it's just like,
it's like ingrained within me.
Like Nick,
like Nick cannot,
Green 958.
I absolutely would have bought that.
Like Nick cannot not be cheap.
Do you know what I mean?
Like he knows.
He's seen me do it.
Like you buy the nice thing,
you maintain it well,
you sell it for more money
as opposed to you buy the bad thing.
You end up stranded on the street
four times.
You sell it for less money.
He's seen it happen,
but it's just not within him.
One of those times is because he ran out of gas.
What's just going to do?
He's ranting about buying the right color when he's literally selling a 4GT right now because he bought the wrong color.
That was cheaper.
But I did buy the press color.
You bought the cheaper color instead of the right color, and you are now correcting that mistake at a six-figured delta.
Well, I don't want to hear.
The color mistake on that car is more than the cumulative total of every car I've ever bought combined.
Yeah, but it's not a cost.
This is the problem that I think you continue to make.
You know what I like?
You think it's a cost, but it's a store of value.
I liked Grisio-ontera.
All right, and you did not.
That was a horrible color.
No, it is handsome and beautiful.
The answer to the question is,
the answer to the question is,
sexy.
Yeah, no, for sure.
The green defender is actually my best one.
I love that color.
Pangia green was the launch color for the new defender,
and I owned this one in that color,
and I never liked it.
It's bizarre.
It's a good color.
That's weird.
I like Pangea.
Blue, they had this beautiful blue called Tasman Blue,
which is, I think they sell it's absolutely gorgeous,
but you had to get green with the white roof.
That was the launch.
Even those wheels.
Like you had that was correct.
There have been times that I feel like you've kind of backed into the press color.
Like your E-class wagon was available.
There was some press photos in white because there wasn't really a press.
The one I just got?
Yeah, no, the 2-13.
Some of the cars were never photographed in a press setting.
That is true.
And so you get away with whatever color you want.
And so in those cases, I bought the color that most suited the car.
The Sequoia did have a TierD Pro color the first year.
Yeah, but all the press photos are white.
Really?
Yeah, like, but I'm sure.
they did tierty pro press photos too i don't know um but no i i it's it's also just become such a thing
for me to like have the poster car and the poster color that i don't like sit here and be like oh i wish
my 993 turbo wasn't arena red it's just like it's what it is it's in my mind the reason i buy
the press color is because that is the color of the car like a 92 viper is red there are green
ones there are black ones but it is red it just is the super the mark four is a red car yeah
the problem is another cars have become investments and stores
of value, it is now baked into the pricing.
It's not like you're getting a deal to get the most desirable color.
Yeah.
And so often, if you're people like me or Felipe, you have to decide, do I, if I'm stretching
to buy a car that I can't afford, would I rather, do I care about having a cool color,
or do I just want to get the nice example of the car regardless of color?
Knowing you can wrap it, knowing you can do anything else.
So to me, it's always been, like the Mercy is a great example, far more than it ever spent
on a car, far more than I was comfortable spending on a car.
So buying a Verde Ethica one, yes, I would rather have that or Orantio Atlas.
But I'd rather have a car that I could drive a little bit more comfortably than, again, like, you're spending more money out of pocket than a car.
I don't think it's wrong not to get the press color.
I just think for me personally, it's just how I see the car.
If you can swing it, then, yes.
Sometimes they're not more expensive.
The general feeling in the 993 community is that Arena Red is not a particularly attractive color.
I disagree strongly.
I think of all my press colors, that's one of my very favorites.
But the general feeling is that it's like this purplish maroon.
It's like a little weird.
It's the best example because it was the press color.
And if you see a rena and any other Porsche, I don't think it looks good.
It always looks bad.
It looks weird.
It looks bad.
Yeah.
But it looks so good on that.
But only because it's ingrained in our brains that 9-93 is supposed to look like that.
And it's what a designer chose.
Like so somebody that had a role and designed the car decided what color.
That's right.
There is some component to me.
Yeah.
And also I hate dark colors on cars because it hides the lines.
And you'll notice that almost never is the press color, a dark color for that reason.
Except for when they want to hide them.
There's something in there.
Like me and designers, we have a,
me and Camillo Pardo, we got, we got a,
are you going to find somebody to sign your new Ford.
Camillo? I'll find him eventually.
You know, my wife, we were having Pelotoc the other night.
Oh.
So he suggested, Jesus, okay.
Not like, you know, just lying in bed talking.
Okay.
There was no funny business.
Regardless, she suggested I get a yellow car is my next sports car.
A yellow car?
Because she loved the Barrego.
range over.
Presumably, I think we dislike bright colors.
It is fun to have a yellow car.
I think everyone should do that once in their lives.
Next question from DJ Johnny Lux Boston.
Oh, wow.
Since selling the company,
do investors have any rules on what you can or can't say on the podcast
or in the reviews?
Well, now the Ford thing.
Yeah.
Don't you think?
We have a guardrail now.
We're good.
But I can't believe this question's even asked.
Have you watched this podcast?
There are no notes.
They don't come in.
We don't offer an opportunity to give notes.
I am perpetually astonished, but there are no notes.
The guy's wearing a Nicki Loeb shirt for crying out loud.
At some point, I have to assume that some adult is going to walk into the room and be like,
you cannot let this guy continue to be on this podcast and say the stuff he says.
We police ourselves, I will say.
Like, we cut out a lot of the stuff he says because it's insane.
Yeah.
Because we don't want to be associative risk.
But the overlords have never said anything, right?
They've certainly never said anything to me.
I don't know how much they're even paying attention,
some of them listen.
Shout out to them.
But like we've never certainly never been told by you.
And that is the thing that makes this podcast the best.
I think the thing that people don't understand about this business
is that a lot of the media that you're consuming is more curated than you realize.
A lot of the people doing car reviews, a lot of the people who are doing podcasts,
are being very careful not to say certain things or to say certain things.
And both in the car review space and in the online auction space.
And I can't speak for the two of you.
I know you care.
I don't care.
Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life?
You know, the same way you can skip an ad.
I get it.
I'm Siaya and I live in Ice Cove.
I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned.
And today I'm still figuring it out.
Somehow things usually get worse before they get better.
Apparently, that's how I roll.
So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride.
Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem.
I really don't.
I don't even work here.
What are you going to do, fire me?
I view one of the things that propelled your career and growth is...
Yeah, agreed.
Maybe it's somewhere between a realness and ambivalence about what you say
or like a lack of fear.
It was getting the cars from the dealers,
so he didn't have to worry about biting the hands up.
That helped.
There's a real transparency element.
I think it's always been true.
So even when I've kind of internally been like,
oh, I can't believe we're saying that.
It's like, no, but that that is who we are.
Yeah.
And I think the audience likes us for it.
And if I'm honest,
I think that selling the business
and being financially free has also helped me.
And I think there's pros and cons of that.
Like people are out, Doug's spoiled.
He doesn't understand this, that.
And I get that criticism, but the flip side is that, like, ain't no one coming.
If someone called me, you can't do that.
Well, all right, what are you going to do?
You know, like, I'm not dependent on you.
And I think that that's always been really beneficial since it has happened.
Yep.
Philippo, Corbett, man.
Yeah.
Question for you from Veldor 5050.
Where do you see the manual C7ZR1 market going?
Will these continue to appreciate 2X pass sticker?
Have you been paying attention to this?
No.
You know what these calls?
Oh, yeah.
No, I noticed.
I saw the one that you guys, the, the, the,
This wasn't out of the realm, though.
This is what they sell for.
I know.
It's wild.
So we sold the C7ZR1 from Mothers for $222,000.
The sticker was 144.
Not that long ago.
7,000 miles.
They are really taken off.
Now, everyone agrees the C8 is dynamically a better car.
It's cooler, it looks cooler, all that.
But it did not have a manual.
And so in the same way that, you know, the last of the manual Ferraris and all that,
the last of the manual corvettes is having the same sort of moment.
And boy, are these expensive.
It's a great car.
It's a great car.
It looks cool as hell.
The ZTK thing with the giant wing.
I can't imagine it going to 3x MSRP, though.
Only because, like, Vipers, theory, 5th Gen Vipers are in similar bow.
It's the end of that.
And those are at a bit above MSRP with memory served.
Corvettes are more special, though.
And this is a very special Corvette.
The fact that it's the end is meaningful.
We've sold the 5-Gen recently.
Like, to a collector, like the most special corvettes are worth way more than the most special
vipers.
You see split windows and fuels.
True, true.
But I feel like they have a...
This is the modern-day split window.
Some of the stigma will hold that.
I don't know that it will.
I never thought CTSV wagons would floor and go up.
GM cars, some of them are pretty desirable.
I think it's...
Better than Ford's.
I think it's an incredibly desirable car,
but I don't see it having the upswing that the Ford GT had.
Because the Ford GT was like a standalone model.
Yeah, I agree with that.
And it's way more special, more limited than this.
This is probably a dynamically better car.
And it deserves the 50% above MSRP that it's at right now.
I could imagine going up a bit.
But I don't think it's a runaway price.
I don't think it's ever a 700 car, at least 700 in today's dollars.
But I do think it could be someday more than it currently is even accounting.
As a classic or basically once it's at that stage, maybe.
I think there will be a period of people who look back on some of these last of the last type of class.
And it is the last of the big front engine.
Manual transmission, rear wheel car.
I can't think of one for sale right now.
Like if you think of F4.
30s being the last of a certain thing.
And if you think of Ford GT and Crera GT,
like there are these, a lot of these last
of the last cars do have some value.
This one being a version of the Corvette, I think
will hold it back.
But I do think it's going to continue to be,
like I think you could buy this at 223
and feel pretty confident your investment
is going to be at least safe.
Unlike in a XC90.
I'd buy, but I wouldn't buy expecting doubling
and then I fear.
I agree with that.
Next question.
There's any cars you can truly expect that on,
but yeah, digress.
Next question,
I want to do two more questions.
We're late, but you know what?
Did you see how he weaved in
the Ford was a better investment
into that, by the way?
No, the Ford we were talking about.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, four tunes.
Next, two more questions.
Two more questions.
First off, maybe three.
First off, we'll go fast.
From Dehan Baden Horse 1398,
have any of you been around the Nureberg ring?
Would any of you like to?
Never been.
No, yes.
Never been, would love to.
When I go to Europe, I make a rule about not doing car things.
It's always a family trip.
I really don't want.
But he's like, go to the factory.
I never have wanted to do that.
It's never been interesting to me.
Same.
Sean's popped his head up.
But we are going to Willow Springs on October 17th.
Between him and him.
You want to know who makes me say stuff?
Whoever asked that last question?
Him.
No, I don't have that kind of power.
I've tried.
I've tried.
The reason he agreed to come on the pot is so that he could be a mouthpiece and interject cars and bids.
He never wanted to do the pot, but once he was like, you know, I could promo cars and bids.
I would love to do the Nureberg ring someday, though, I think it'd be cool.
Have you never been to Germany?
Have you been to Europe?
Have you been to Europe many times?
Have you been out of the country?
I've never been to Germany.
I've been to London several times, France, Italy, Spain.
Never heard of Europe.
For the time I've known him.
We did find that video when he went to Way and France.
I might be going to London next week, dude.
Whoa.
So might I?
You never know.
No, like it's being actively discussed amongst people.
Oh, people are discused.
discussing it. He might make it to the Nureberg ring then.
That's great.
What would you drive if you could drive anything on the Nureberg ring?
A Veyron, probably.
No, I think that the answer if you're just starting out is something that's not that fast.
Like it's a GTI, something in that realm.
Of course that's the answer. He's an idiot.
I wasn't given these restraints.
If we're dreaming here, why would I dream?
Would you want to? You will die.
You specify, you're supposed to.
Not a mercy at Chuck Wall.
Veron and the press color.
For which version?
We don't know.
Doesn't matter to him.
Okay, two more questions.
Number one from Davey, here we go.
You're Doug.
Who does all the thumbnails for your Sunday videos?
I want to shake their hand and have them be a guest on the pod.
The five cars that got away video, thumbnail is the greatest, but all of them are amazing.
Love the attention to tiny details.
Do you want to talk about McMike?
I love McMike.
Have you met Mick Mike?
Of course I've met McMike.
But the guy who does a thumbnail...
We've temporarily paused Sunday.
videos, but we'll be back in some form doing something, I don't know. And Mick Mike has done my Sunday
thumbnails. And he is a guy, he's just a guy in Washington, D.C., who we knew from years ago,
from when I used to post on Jolopnik, but he is like the most creative and funniest person that I've
met in my entire life. And he creates these incredible thumbnails. And like, how I got started.
He does spend real time on details. So many great details. And he sends it to me beforehand. And he's like,
is this okay? And I'm like, it's never not okay. Everything you come up with.
this beautiful.
What was the five cars?
I don't, I don't, I don't remember, like, where they all are, but they're,
Mick Mike is my thumbnail guy.
And he's just a guy.
He, like, he, like, lives in suburban Washington, D.C., in Northern Virginia on a cul-de-sac,
and he's a car enthusiast.
He drives a Eurovette?
He drives, he drives a Vanagan.
Vanagan.
Or dead years ago.
I haven't seen him in years.
No, I think he still does.
And, and that's Mick Mike, and he's just the greatest person ever to exist.
Have you ever met McMike?
No, I don't think so.
Someday, I would love it if Mick Mike could come to San Diego and be on our podcast.
podcast. Now that Felipe's gone, maybe
Mc Mike is exactly what we would need.
Maybe. He's actually
in person somewhat of a reserved and
reasonable character, despite the fact
that he makes these incredible thumbnails.
That's my thumbnails. I love Mike.
Final question.
Veyron. God.
I was already on a
fictitious trip. Why not?
You're not wrong. I'm going to pick a third-gen
Ultima. It's because you were talking
about it. But the V-6, that's
I already something.
From Oscar Lubiner 8388,
Dear Doug, big fan of the pot,
congratulations on your new super
and your station wagon.
Do you ever worry about the safety aspect
associated with driving your kids
around these older 90s cars?
I've made it no secret that I've driven my kids
and my 993, my Audi RS2, et cetera.
Does it worry me a little?
I really only take those cars on littler trips.
I've heard people call them zip code cars
where you don't like leave your zip code in
and that's pretty much when I'm with the kids.
The supra take to L.A. and all that.
It doesn't bother me by myself.
But with the kids, I generally take.
them to school, you know, to the playground.
Neighborhood short-distance.
Like various little places, birthday parties.
But like, we don't really go long distances in those cars.
For that reason, yes, it does worry me.
Now, there's a lot of people who are, well, we survived that air, so it's fine.
And obviously, that's how Nick feels.
But I prefer the modern safety stuff.
My daily driver car, which is a brand new Mercedes Station wagon, is very safe.
And that's mostly what we're driving.
How do you feel when you drive your kids around without car seats in the abject trash that you purchase?
Whoa.
Whoa. Whoa.
Or are given for free.
All right.
They use car seats, sometimes boosters, depending on sort of the car and the situation.
Yeah.
Do they ever not use anything?
I mean, to your point, if we're going on a road trip like to Arizona, then they're in our safest car and in our safest car seats.
And if it's a quick little trip and they want to sit in the third road.
and, you know, it's fine.
It's fine.
Or not at all.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Have you ever considered buying a German station wagon just to take a child home from the hospital?
No.
Huh.
What did you take your children home from the hospital?
The first one?
So I had special cars at the time.
Oh.
But I was worried this was during COVID.
So, like, you gave birth to your child and you had to, like, stay there and lock down and whatnot.
So we took our Ford Focus.
Because I was worried.
worried about door dings and the parking rush.
The second car, I think we took the Kyan, but again, I was like, oh, it's going to sit outside,
not in a garage.
And, like, I don't want all these, like, senior citizens trampling all over it.
Wow.
We, yeah, we never, I didn't take special cars.
That wasn't my thing.
That's sad.
Philippe, what are you going to take a future, potential, future trial?
Whatever car we own.
A Ford.
A Ford.
It better be Ford.
Yeah.
Whatever.
F-250 in that little gun rack in the bottom of the bed.
I would never.
You could, you know, legally, if you don't have a back seat,
You can put a child seat in the front seat.
So he could throw them in the pickup.
So my SLR could be driving around with my kids in?
Legally.
You try off the airbag.
I think legally, yes.
As long as you can turn out the airbag.
I think you can in that.
That's our podcast.
It's an absolute pleasure.
One of our finest podcasts of all time.
Remember, last week, next week is Felipe's final podcast.
We'll never see him again after next week.
I'm dead serious.
Ask all your Felipe-related questions.
Submit your car for the Willow Springs event.
October 17, we're getting together a great group of cars.
We're going to promote the hell out of them.
So if you have a great card, this is your chance to sell it with us.
And Nikki Loob forever.
Goodbye, everybody.
Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life?
You know, the same way you can skip an ad?
I get it.
