Hey, how are you doing?
I'm doing good, man.
All right.
Cool.
Yeah.
So, of course, we're here at the KC. Chess Club.
Getting ready for a tournament this evening, and we're both instructors.
Well, you're kind of taking a break from constructing, it sounds like.
Right, right.
How'd you get started in chess?
Well, I got started in chess.
When I was about nine years old, my brother was playing chess a lot.
And so automatically, that's my older brother, so I want to be like the older brother.
So I started playing chess, and he started teaching me.
So each week, he would bring me to these weekly classes at the library, and I used to just learn from them.
And then, on my PlayStation 2 back then, he bought me a game called Chess Master.
So I was going to school for eight hours, and then when I'll get home, I'll play on this game called Chess Master,
and I'll be going through all the lessons
and just playing the computers all the time.
And so as I did that, I slowly got better.
And then there was a tournament the week after I learned how to play chess.
So I kind of learned how to play chess in like a week
and got like 16th place in my first tournament that I played,
which was like 100 kids.
So it was very interesting.
Learned how to play chess.
and learning about forks and tactics and, like, all in one week.
All right, cool.
