Just
Everybody, welcome to the podcast.
welcome to another
snow in version
of the podcast
10 inches
of snow
and
yeah we're stuck
here for
at least the rest of today
so
I'm not seeing anyone
trying to join this chat
although people are welcome to
not seeing that happens
so
let's go ahead to some little
on the fun
side of things
and
yeah so of course
as you're probably aware
if you're a regular listener
to the podcast I'm a board gamer
and one of the things
that influenced me into board gaming
is
the tabletop series
with Will Wheaton
So
So let's go over the
Games that were reviewed on
Tabletop. It played on
Tabletop. This one's just
Review. They actually
played the games.
So
let's take a look at the games.
I'll tell you why I think of each
game if
if i have thoughts on that game so all right here we go season one small world this is a game i don't like
definitively i've played a couple of times but uh yeah not a fan i'm especially not a fan of the
idea that you have to at well at some point uh kill your own guys
not a fan of that mechanic at all so uh so that's one i would say pass on uh so as a catan uh definitely play it uh if you haven't
all right it's just called katan now um but uh definitely give a shot at least once yeah
embrace the uh joys of trading wood for sheep
is a pretty good
one it's a very simple
gameplay is very quick
I do like that
uh zombie dice
I don't remember
I think I have played that one
but uh meh
I don't know meh on that one
and
uh
get bit
that's a that's a fun one
uh where
you're swimming to a
avoid a shark and uh if you get caught you get bit and uh and your uh little figurine
it's kind of like the uh black knight in my python he starts losing all his lambs
come over here i'll buy your legs off um do we have a ticket to ride uh i highly recommends tickets
to ride, especially for newer gamers.
Very simple stuff, playing cards, and you're laying down trains to mark your rats,
try to get the longest rats, and all that fun times when I was doing the singles game
nights, and I might resume that.
will see that is the game i went with just because it is a simple game to teach a simple game
to understand so to get uh munchkin uh i recently played munchkin with my brother
and uh definitely a fun long game we start off as a level one human with no class
so michigan is a definitely i'm going to read that later
um castle panic it's a nice uh cooperative game and uh
you should play you should uh play at least one uh gloom i own gloom
very funny little game at which is trying to get get your characters all depressed
And you can't make them too happy.
You got to give them to suppress and then you kill them to get your points.
So funny stuff, very dark humor.
Fiasco have not played, so I can't say anything about that.
But say anything, fun little party game and everything.
Yeah.
Not much to say about that one, but elder sign.
Elder sign, this is a Cthulhu game, is a Cthulhu dice game.
And I do highly recommend this.
It's great.
I've played it a couple times a solo.
It's a great, especially for a fan of Cthulhu and don't want to spend four to six hours playing Arkham War or another.
game that's on this list so so very good one uh dix is another good one um uh the conceits
with a disc dixit say right there is uh you uh play a card say what the what do you think the theme of
the card is everyone has to play a similar card
and
votes on
which one is the original card
so very fun
I do highly recommend that one
with some wagers
also a fun one
also a fun one
a moral party games
but definitely recommend
pandemic we've actually played
pandemic on the pot yes
all right during
pandemic times
is the great
co-op
game, the
quintessential
Leacock
game Matt Leacock, the guy
that designed it.
And
do highly
recommend
you want to be real
balzy
go for one of the
legacy versions of this game.
So, yeah,
so that's
a pandemic.
Last night on Earth, I have not played, but that is the Dr. Hanna,
endlessly wandering around.
Starflux, I am not fan flux, like, at all.
So if that one way for me.
Alambra, I do own a copy of Alambra.
Sitting around here somewhere, but a very fun little game.
We're basically building an Alambra.
a walled city
set around a
fountain
I recommend
Chegeek is a
another game I highly highly recommends
and I have expansions
for that one
but really funny
the whole goal of the game is to
slack off
so
recommend
so that's
Season 1, Season 2, we certainly
Formula D have not
played the resistance. I have played
and got away with murder.
It's,
if you ever played the game,
secret Hitler, I mean,
Hiltor,
it's basically the same
concepts.
Some of you are traitors
and
trying to
sabotagey.
Everything.
uh once upon time nice little storytelling uh game uh do recommend at least once king of
tokyo uh very fun a little game uh we're all playing as a kaiju monsters trying to take over to
uh it is a dice rolling game so if you suffer from dice curse not a good game to uh get into
another Leacock co-op game and this is one of the better ones so I do recommend
this one. Smash up of course it is my favorite game. We have played it on the
podcast. I am I have been playtesting expansions for this and I do still
I recommend it and yeah Star Trek Catan
This is basically
So there's a Catan button with Star Trek
theming.
Still pretty good.
X-Wing!
X-Wing!
This is a game I demoed for Fantasy Flights
during the 2016
convention.
Med-Americon to when I was working
with Fantasy Flight.
And this was one of the games we were demonstrating.
So pretty good.
I do recommend, especially if you're Star Wars fan.
Well, it's a water deep.
I own this.
This is the game that got me really seriously into the gaming hobby.
It's worker placements, D&D themed.
And, yeah, get to Miss Kate Al Bears.
I do not recommend the expansion for this
called the Scalciles of Sculptort
but base game has been of replayability as it is
Shadows over Camelot
I have not played
Betrayal and House on the Hill
We have played on the podcasts
And do I recommend that one
Funnall game, especially around Halloween time
Takenoko, that's a fun little game with pandas and eating bamboo and farming bamboo.
So it's a fun little one.
I do recommend unspeakable words.
Don't think I've played this one, but another Cthulhu game.
We have to spell words and roll die to try and not go insane.
Once you are insane, you can make up words.
Quarkle
That's a fun
Little
That's a fun
Long game
Porkel
So I recommend that one
Twelve days
I can't recommend
Because I haven't played it
Caucasong
I highly recommend
I especially live this
As a solitaire
Okay
So
Carcason
A lazy
Farmers out of the field
Just
Lazy
stay around
lying on their back
the whole game doing nothing
and
then
the sea
I don't think I've played this one
tickets to ride Europe
basically ticket to arrive on a map
of Europe the original ticket
to rise a map of the US
this one's a map of Europe
and they include
a couple of other mechanics
like stations
so
I do recommend the
Fortune and Glory have not played
Lords of Vegas have not played
Moving on to
Tokaido I own
Tokido with
its two expansions, the crossroads and the
Matsuri
to say that's
a Zen game
I don't know about that
but it is a very
simple game to play and there's
no need to roll dice and stuff
for Ben Deserts
is a little more complex than
for Ben Island
but still a fun little
game. Catane Jr. I'm not
played. I don't have kids
so random
for me to play that one.
Heron the Tortoise
Yeah, I have played
Heron the Tortoise. That's
That's an interesting one.
Council of Verona have not played.
Stone Age, I've only played online.
Stone Age.
But make sure you feed your people.
That's key concepts of the game.
Feed you people.
Key Cat, I own.
There's a lot of trivia-based game.
I do highly recommend.
Shepard Nottingham I also own.
And highly recommend, especially if you're really good at lying to people.
Or to quote, Jason Kelsey's oldest child.
A good game if you're being naughty and sneaky.
did a winner
do
recommend I have played that
I don't own Nitz
but I have played it
I do recommend
that
Epic Spell Lords
of the Battle of Wizards
Jewelette
Mount Skullsfire
have not played
doesn't really
feel to me
Cards Against Humanity
I have played
I still feel dirty
just thinking
about playing it
so
ugh
just
uh five tribes have not played uh concept i have played it's a board game version of uh charades
to your argument uh dread have not played i understand there's a jing guitar involved
with that one uh lebitalia i've played online
fun and very easy
to learn
the same is true of
a coup universe
universe wise
same universe as the resistance
uh
and uh with a little more
a little more strategy
and no one's
actually a traitor
or anything you're just going after
one another
so I do I do recommend that one
Kingdom Builder
I have not played
Legendary
I have played
It's
It's a deck builder
I'm not a fan of deck builders
Usually
But this one
It's okay
For deck builders
So
Roll for it
I own
Dice game
To try and match
The dice two
It's on the card
Sushi Go
own it. In fact,
just recently, but the
Sushi Go party
which takes
Sushi Go up
to the
next level.
I recommend
either those Sushigo or Sushgo
party.
And my sense of mystics
I have not played.
And then
their crowd-funded
fourth and final season.
Lanterns, I played
Alright
Jameson Midgard
had not played
Martin have not played
Tiny Epic Galaxies have not played
Frate of Dracula
have not played Harbor have not played
Dragon Farkel have not played
Star Realms have played
Don't like it
Fates Core RPG, I have not played.
Star Trek five-year mission.
I have played, and I do recommend.
Um, Mysterium.
I played, believe it or not, the Polish version of this.
Uh, it plays a blending of Dixit and Clue.
It's okay.
It's okay.
I don't say it's a good or bad,
but not my thing.
Steam Park, I've not played
Miss Spent Youth. I've not played
Flashpoint Fire Rescue.
Have not played.
Welcome to the Dungeon.
Have not played.
Codemes I own.
Do highly recommend.
First time I've played it,
that was a funny thing
I think the clue
was Mexico
no what the clue is taco or something
no Mexico
Mexico and tacos
were in false
but I got the right word
and you told me
you told me the wrong words or what the
F
and this is a good
game to
confuse people with sports
references like
Buck would come up and you say
Milwaukee won
Milwaukee's the clue
One word
matches it
And Buck is right there
The Buck's our
Milwaukee's basketball team
And people
And some people
Just again
That's fine
And that
That kind of has to humor
And then Eldred Shore
The last game
They were played on that
Show I do own
It takes four hours to play
Period
Can't really
Speed that one
Up
and it is a
Cthulu
game
so
Hey Cthoo
What's up
Of course
International
Tabletop Day was the thing
And this is
That's really what got me
Started in
Tabletop Gaming
Was going to Tabletop Day
And then finding out
But game days
After that
I believe that was
Uh 20
15, yeah, 2015
was when I went to, so, wow, I've been gaming it for 10 years.
It's,
all right.
I don't think anyone's going to be
showing up here. That's fine.
Got one more of these.
I think we might actually play a tabletop game
for the last one, if someone
nobody shows up.
