Welcome to the Unofficial Fan Lounge.
Your unofficial home of all things, UFL, hosted by this podcast, is Uncalled for.
My name is Mike Chernevsky, and let's review week one of the United Football League 2025 season.
So we will start with the Friday night game, St. Louis at Houston.
Battlehawks 31
Roughnecks 6
I did watch this game
and oh boy
yeah
it was all
Battlehawks all day long
attendance was
7,124
at the University of Houston
I'll be on nights
when
you had a bunch of rain
in the area
you have the Astros home opener
and the University of Houston themselves
in the tournament
so
but it was all badhawks all day long
Houston looked just
terrible they managed to score
near the end of the game
but
overall just terrible
battlehawks to
heck of a job
writing the football
sailors
first touchdown
of the new year
Wilkins
rushed for a couple
himself
there was a
there was a
a lea record
set in this game
of 74 yards for
a touchdown run
that was broken
the next day by three
yards
but
but so
good job out of
the Bile Hawks
Houston
you have a problem
and I think it does
come down to
coaching for them
let's not forget
that this version
of the roughnecks
was
the USFL
gamblers
all right
they just took on
the XFL
name
not remembering that the XFL version of the Roughnecks was really darn good all right we're
talking about 5 and 0 in the 2020 when the pandemic happened and they're pretty good in
23 as well so yeah moving on the Saturday game San Antonio at Arlington this one
went to Renegades
33, Brahma's
9
and good job
at the renegades
attendance was 10,114
so that's pretty good
and
way to
start the season if you're
Arlington, if you're
San Antonio I still expect
them to be a good team
but
come on
In our two Sunday games, Michigan and Memphis, in front of a crowd of 4,373, lower than any crowds from last year, by the way, and this is Memphis.
We're talking about it, they were hardly world beaters attendance-wise last year.
In fact, we're dead last in the league in attendance, but not this.
bad.
Still a closer game.
But finished Panthers 26, showboats
12.
So good job out of Michigan.
Still sneaky good.
Memphis, I would say, have improved.
We'll see over the coming days.
The last game of week one was Birmingham at D.C.
And from a crowd of 12,254.
So D.C. winning the week in terms of attendance.
And the game, Defenders 18, Stallions 11.
I did see a little bit of this game.
I saw the go-head score for D.C.
turned out.
Ta'amo to
Roland
for the touchdown.
And
the bear snake in full
effect. So
they are not
invincible those
stallions.
We'll see
what happens
with the rest
of the season, of course.
So after
one week, we have a
three-way tie for
first
in the XFL conference with
St. Louis Arlington and D.C.
all 1 and 0.
San Luis and Arlington would
win on point differential.
And San Antonio
is in 4th.
In the USFL conference, Michigan.
1 and O.
Birmingham, Houston, and Memphis,
all
0 in 1, but
Birmingham
are declared
favorites in point differential minus seven so let's look for the week two but before we
do I do want address the labor issue that could affect this week I don't think
it will but it could I'll just put that proviso out there look football is
physical sports and these guys will get hurt and and it would behoove of the league to look into
a into year-round health insurance for these guys you know make make sure you know that
they can function outside of this season if they get hurts and everything and is and yeah
is a very physical sports.
People are going to get hurt.
So it's the league's job as employers to look out for their employees.
So let's get this done at the very least, get them their insurance.
But yeah, let's look forward to week two of the UFL.
We'll start with the Friday night game on April 4th.
7 p.m. Central
Birmingham
at Michigan.
So this is a panther's home opener
at Ford Field.
Also the home
of the Detroit Lions.
This one's going to be
tough. I'm two
and two from last week's
from the week one picks, by the way.
And
we'll probably wind up being
two and two again because
I am
I'm going to pick
Michigan
to beat Birmingham
this week
but not by much
not by much I think this will be
a very close game
with a sight edge to Michigan
ever so slight
because I mean
I come Birmingham
came into this season
pretty much unstoppable
and yet
DC found a way to stop them
so
yeah Panthers by
hair
Saturday
this is a Saturday evening
game Memphis at
D.C. So we'll see
another round of the beer snake
and
I think this is also going to be a close game because
at DC
and Memphis played
close games
this week
and
I will
give the
slight edge
to the defenders
over the showboats
I don't get me wrong
I think
Memphis has
improved
this
off season
but have they shown
enough
to
to warrant me
picking them
Right now, probably not.
Again, I wasn't expecting
the D.C. to pull the upset
over Birmingham, so I will go
DC.
Sunday games,
Sunday at 11.
We have the I-45
matchup,
Houston at Arlington,
at the prison of Arlington.
Given,
when I saw
with the roughnecks
it's going to be impossible
for me to pick them. I write
out even though this was
their one win last year against
Arlington. I think Arlington
is a
well obviously they're
going in
with a win
and
they're going in
hopefully a little more focus this year
not nearly a snake been in
as they were last year
where
the rough necks
I'm sorry
they just stink
right now
so
rain gates
that's my
pick for that one
and
the Sunday nighter
530 is
St. Louis
in San Antonio
at the
dome
in St. Louis
as
remember, the
Battlehawks get
six home games
this year
the Brahmers
only get four
that's because
San Antonio
has to play
in St. Louis
twice
for scheduling
reasons
if you're a fan
of the other
sports
you know
that San Antonio
is the site
for the final four
and
that we played
at
the Alamo Dome.
So as a result,
the Brahmus have to come to St. Louis twice,
and this is the first
go-around.
I am definitely not picking the...
I think this will be a close game
because Ballahawk
Brahma games have been
pretty close.
But I will go with
Battle Hawks.
A, it's my team, and
B,
based on the
butt-
kicking they administered on Houston coupled with San Antonio get in their butts kicked
I expect to I'm picking the ballhawks to win this one and it will be a close one
so that is it for week my petition for week two of the united football the season
we might get a team profile in this week we shall see but y'all take care let's enjoy some
football let's get this labor disputes we're done with and we will talk again soon
Thank you.
Thank you.
