Starting point is 00:00:00 us in the bathroom at the Golden Globe story. I'm at the urinal. James Cameron was in the bathroom. He could have crazy people. Or like Ridley Scott or something. Connelly comes walking in, what do I say? All right, cover up, gentlemen. We got a peeker in here.
Starting point is 00:00:13 You can see everyone covering up too. I thought we were going to maybe play a little Jane's Addiction superhero being that it's officially Entourage Week. What's up, Matt? How you doing today? Entourage Week, the best week of the year. I'm good, buddy. How are you?
Starting point is 00:00:41 I love that it's Entourage Week. And yes, we have a real, it's the show that a lot of you on Twitter have been saying to me. I mean, you guys posted about it in November. What happened? We're just keeping them on their toes, but it is finally here. It's here. I'm fired up. We got to sit down with Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon, two of my dear friends who shot...
Starting point is 00:01:00 Like, I know we even talked about it, I think, in the actual interview, which we'll get to, but you and Connoy definitely were around each other in the 2000s for sure. Yeah, we had a couple interesting Hollywood run-ins. So I mean, I've known him forever. I mean, probably as long as you, as far as just like running in his circle for a little bit. Dylan I had never met,
Starting point is 00:01:24 which was awesome to hang out with him. He was exactly how you described. Like the best, a little crazy, a little off the wall, but like just the best, man. Like he was just awesome. Like I felt like we were best friends, honestly. But it was fun. For me, it was really fun just throwing it back
Starting point is 00:01:43 because you know it was one of my favorite shows in that time, just to see the three of you reminisce the memories, the moments. Just it brought back so much. And it was just fun, those guys. It was like you guys have never, like you haven't missed a beat. Just ribbing each other, jokes and all that.
Starting point is 00:02:01 It was awesome. It's always something, even I remember this from the last time we were all together, I think it was like this past September, we're all together, it's just different. I guess in the sports world, it's almost like, back in the day, if you saw Kobe and Shaq, they obviously would be excited to see Kobe.
Starting point is 00:02:20 I'm not comparing us to the Lakers, by the way, everyone calm down. But when you see people who are known for a thing together in their real life outside of that thing, it confuses people and I think it's pretty cool. So yeah, they jump on. It's really, now we're prepared for 10,000 reboot questions which honestly have been happening
Starting point is 00:02:39 ever since early, early last year. But you fit right in. If you haven't seen Matt's audition, by the way, we put you through the wringer. Oh, my God. You did? Well, it was funny while we were doing it, but I was trying to lock in.
Starting point is 00:02:56 You took it serious. I did, and after watching it, it was actually really, it just made me, Dylan's just so fucking funny, man. That was great. I want to ask you just really quick, I know you guys don't get together very often. I'm sure you're on a text chat, I'm sure all those things and all like that,
Starting point is 00:03:13 but what is it like for you just when you're back with those guys? When I was sitting there with you, and again, this was a couple months ago, but honestly, when I was sitting there with you and getting to know you now over the last six months, I saw a different, not even a different side of you, but I saw a side of you that's like,
Starting point is 00:03:35 that was a big, big part of your life. You know what I mean? It was really cool to see the interaction between you guys. I thought it was pretty neat to see. We have such a shorthand together. You know, everything is a memory. Every story that pops up, it really, and that's why I think you could really tell the test
Starting point is 00:03:56 of any friendship, whether it's a former teammate or just a friend from high school where time will go by because they all have kids, I have kids, you have kids, we're all busy, time will go by, but it's that friend where, whether it's a phone call or you see him out or you're together for something and it's like no time has passed. And that has always been what it's like.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I've gone a couple of years even without seeing Grenier and then when I see Adrian, I felt like he's been in my life this entire time. And I think that really is what the show always tried to do was capture that fun friendship part. And I just think we always had that. And I don't think it's something you can cast. Similar with the team.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I don't think it's something you can draft. You hope it happens. It's like that magic in a bottle. I think I think champ championship teams and sport are all about personalities and getting different personalities to mesh and also and just you play for one common goal, right? That's just to win a championship. The same with making a show. You want to put out the best show and you guys got to mesh and all that.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And it's, it is there. It was very cool to see. I'm going to ask you now, and you just mentioned reboot. What is the latest with an entourage reboot and will we ever see one? So in my opinion, I Never thought it would ever happen and it probably still won't but for the first time for me I could say I See it now. I have not seen it since the movie came out and the movie did like and just did okay It wasn't as good as we hoped it would be but a lot of other things were going on then like culture was changing and we so we for a while after the movie became like people forgot and tried to claim like
Starting point is 00:05:36 Entourage wasn't really a thing. We talked horrible to each other and we can't do that stuff again Now did we say awful things to each other and we can't do that stuff again. Now, did we say awful things to each other on the show? Absolutely. Did it come from a weird place of love? Absolutely. And I do think there will be a show, whether it's an Entourage reboot or some other show that does go back and capture that male adult friendship bromance that I just don't think you have on TV right now. Is there one? Can you find one right now? There's not and that your show it's a your show just stands the test of time. You could turn that show on right now Cole my 18 year old son college kids now high school pro like they could watch that and relate and that's what makes a show show
Starting point is 00:06:20 So great we you all you always talk about this how, how athletes always recognize you. They were with you at the fanatics party last week. Like, they just like, like Turtle from Entourage is an iconic figure. That's an iconic show. I think, gosh, I just think a reboot, I think something would, it would still translate in today's world, almost even better in today's world because of just access and social. And now I just feel like with, especially with college kids getting paid, they have their own charge. There's just so many different things now that were different 20 years ago.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I'm all in, I'm petitioning now. I know you've educated me on the process. I know there's a lot of hoops to get through and financial stuff and people signing on, all these things. But my God, that thing, it would, to see you guys in your old age as dads, and like, in your old age. I really do think though, Matt, like I said,
Starting point is 00:07:12 I didn't see it even like two, three years ago. Number one, I had a hard time seeing what these characters would be doing now. And then also, like we said, not trying to even have a big cancel culture conversation, but we had a certain brand of humor that was once acceptable that at some point society told us wasn't acceptable anymore. Yeah, but I think it's, I think one, it's coming back.
Starting point is 00:07:34 We're seeing that in all the standup shows now. A lot of the comics were getting censored. Now they're just like, fuck that. We don't care. And I feel like there's a corner being turned with, you could just, like, those are the shows, especially on streaming services and Netflix and all that, like, you can pretty much do whatever you want,
Starting point is 00:07:51 I would imagine. But yeah, I mean, let's do it, dude. I know your guys will be on board. I feel like I know, and we pitch, we actually, I pitched Connelly a few of like, fun, but for the first time, I think, in a very long time, probably since the movie, I could actually, I think I know what these characters are up to right now. Now obviously, I need Doug Ellers job
Starting point is 00:08:10 to figure that out. You're filthy rich. Am I? Somehow, someway, nobody knows. Or I know your whole thing is you blow your money. I don't like that. I want to keep you rich. You want to keep eternal rich? I love your wife, Bree. You probably marry some A-list actress in the show, you know, uh, Connelly. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Maybe like Jessica Alba and Taro. She's speaking a really quick, I do want to get, um, Emmanuel on. I know that Emmanuel Shrieky. I want to get, yeah. Who played Sloan. I want to get her on just because I'm a fan and I think she's amazing, but I think especially after this episode airs and all that, I think let's, we got to get her on just because I'm a fan, and I think she's amazing. But I think, especially after this episode airs and all that, I think we got to get her on and just talk shop.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Well, shoot, we could do that. I would love to get her perspective as kind of the lead kind of female in that show, as far as just all that. Because I know you guys are all really tight with her. Well, you know, also we- Plus my brother is like one of my brother's characters that according to what the criticisms were after the show was off the air and then when I look around it was Emanuel Shrieky,
Starting point is 00:09:14 Constance Zimmer, Debbie Mazar, Beverly D'Angelo, Perry Reeves. It's like these are all regular parts of the show. Ari Piven's wife's, what was her name? Perry Reeves. She played Mrs. Ari. Yeah, she was great. People actually got mad like, oh, you didn't even give her a name. It was a joke for seven years that her name didn't cut. Like that was the whole point. There you go. I didn't even know her name. The whole point. Her real name was Melissa on the show. So anyway, I think without further, well, you know what? We have a little business to do before we get to the entourage, guys. We got to hear from our good people at Wendy's. I think I know what you're gonna wanna talk about today,
Starting point is 00:09:46 which I'm fired up about. So it's time for Fresh Moves of the Week, brought to you by Wendy's. Go to Wendy's, taste the difference in a hamburger. Matt, what is our Fresh Move of the Week? Well, first of all, it's actually a nice little pivot because your boy Connelly is a diehard hockey fan, right? Massive hockey, like me with basketball, massive hockey fan.
Starting point is 00:10:06 So diehard hockey fan, we're gonna dive into this episode in a second with the Entourage guys, but before this hockey Four Nations face-off is awesome. It is must-see TV. And basically what it is, I was just looking this up, that there's not an All-Star game this weekend for the, or this past weekend for the NHL. So instead of that, they did this four nations face-off. Four teams, it's Canada, Finland, Sweden, US, Little Round Robin tournament, the finals,
Starting point is 00:10:33 whatever. The finals are on tonight, USA, Canada, but before we dig into that for a second, did you see last weekend three seconds in the just full brawl to start. It was so wild. It almost like if I didn't know better, the conspiracy part of me was like, oh, they plan that for the ratings. They just wanted, they planned in advance.
Starting point is 00:10:56 No, they didn't. No, I think they planned in advance to fight cause they don't like each other. That's what it was. They really, there's no love loss there. Well, and so the whole conversation last weekend was NBA All-Star game, right? And all the negativity and how do you get ratings?
Starting point is 00:11:11 How do you get eyeballs? Well, you just look at, and this is the difference. I'm not going to dive into NBA, but the hockey, just three seconds in, USA maybe is, I mean, is it fair to say maybe little brother to Canada and hockey just, I think maybe throughout history. Yes, their national sport. It's their national sport.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Now, we've gotten a lot better, obviously. We're very good. But just, you know, we're behind in the US in hockey traditionally over the past whatever, 40, 50 years. They hate each other. And you see the Stars playing, which is awesome, right? Getting injured left and right, guys getting going down. David and Crosby are playing for, I mean,
Starting point is 00:11:49 the who's who are playing, Drew Doughty, who's a bit, I'm a big fan of Drew Doughty, plays for the Kings. And three seconds in, they just start, the Kachuk brothers, they just start brawling. And it gets people fired up, people want to see. And now what they've done is not the fact that they're back in the finals tonight, later on tonight. It's gonna millions of people are gonna watch that
Starting point is 00:12:09 must watch it has the Olympic feel and I think that's the cool it's about your country. I think NHL had a slam dunk doing this thing. It is unbelievable to make a Wendy's reference. The NHL to the NBA said hold my burger, watch this. Yes, they did. And let me tell you, it worked. You're right, they captured every, and it's must watch. Tomorrow, oh, tonight is must watch. I'll be, are you going to watch it? I'll be watching it.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Are you kidding? Words I never thought I'd say unless the Stanley Cup were on and the Rangers were in. Must watch hockey today. Do you think there will be another, I think there could be a fight. I don't think there'll be a fight to start the game I don't think it'll be to start the game but I think if if it's 1-1 or 2-2 in you know mid-third period and it's getting
Starting point is 00:12:56 chippy and guys are getting hit left and right yeah I think we're seeing a fight for sure shout out shout out to the NHL man this no by the way and instead of an all-Star weekend, we're just going to have a Four Nations World Tournament, which has been the best thing they've done. They weren't afraid to break the tradition. Oh, this is what we always do. The problem is you need your best players to buy in.
Starting point is 00:13:16 And that ship has sailed with the NBA. Very true. Very true. All right. Thank you to Wendy's. And all right, we made you guys wait enough. Let's bring in Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon on throwbacks. Stop sitting on your Aeroplan points and get big savings so you can be somewhere you actually want to be, like on a beach.

We've done this in front of the whole crew. They are exactly the same height. Whatever it is. But what Sherry's doing.
Starting point is 00:14:10 We're recording. Are we recording? Yeah, we're live. Sherry's going to get fitted golf clubs. And I said, just get two pairs. Just get two of the exact same size. By the way, I never thought. But his club head speed's a lot faster.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Well, I didn't even know that that was about that. I never thought we'd start this episode with doing a height check. But we've got to do a height check. Do you want to do it? I mean, do you want to do a height check. Do you want to do it? I mean, do you want to do it? And then we're going to do a sweat speed check. Let's set this up.
Starting point is 00:14:28 We're going to have to get you senior chefs, Kevin. Now, I don't care about being short. I've been short my whole life, so it's not a big shock when people are like, oh, you're so short. I'm like, yeah, I know, Dick, I've been short my whole life. Well, that's what I was saying. I was like, I'm just waiting for somebody to acknowledge that you and I are the same. This is a meaningless point. We have gotten these guys back to back so many times on the show in front of the whole crew. They're exactly the same height.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Exactly the same height. Somebody spoofed us. Remember they did it and I was a girl. A girl played me and someone played there like, how do you feel about playing a girl? I'm like, I'm just happy that they finally acknowledged that I'm tall. Got the height right? I'm glad that somebody got that right. Do you remember my response to you every time you'd say you were half inch tall? What do I always say? Do you remember? What is it? I say yeah but I just look. Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:15:11 yeah I just feel bigger and taller than you. Do you want to do this right now? By the way I will say I 100% have shrunk in the last 10 years. Well I think Connelly's a little older than you. He might may have shrunk more though. Well, I got to stand up and see. There could be shrinkage. Let's take a look at this. Yeah, I mean, we've done this a million times. These guys are identical. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Who's got it? You know, Connelly's got a little hair. Are you saying I've used bigger product? So can we find the same or just the same? I got to say, you're splitting hairs, but I would say Connelly probably buy a hair. A little bit. Well, I tried calling you last week because Matt, on the podcast,
Starting point is 00:15:55 we were talking about the Jake Paul, Mike Tyson fight. And he asked me a question that really, I'm like, oh, Connelly would love this question. You would too. Matt asked, all right, if Jake Paul calls you and Connelly or even me and you, but let's use me and you because now we're the same size. Right. And they're like, Hey, million a piece fight him at the same time. You and Jerry get in the ring on the undercard of Tyson Paul. Oh, I thought you were saying let's fight him at the same time. No, I wouldn't want to. Can I rest it? At least going to be the ref. How
Starting point is 00:16:20 about this? Is there someone that you would want that you would you hate so much you dislike? I asked Jared this like that you would actually do like I want to go in a boxing match and beat the shit out of him I'd rather fight like in a bar Who's it in the bar? Not in a bar, but I don't know like I asked you this week like who was your arch nemesis? Did I have one? It was Seth Green. Oh, I was like the characters would have definitely fought. I saw him two days ago. I saw I saw Seth.
Starting point is 00:16:46 You ran into him. Yeah, I got a Starbucks. He still he still leans into the he loves any chase and the chase. He's the best man. He's such a good. Yeah, he's well, no, he's he's he was telling me could what both of you guys remember well, remember the fight scene we had to do the fight scene in Vegas. Remember that story? I was trying to tell you just like I just can't be whooped by Seth. I don't care what happens, I just can't be whooped by Seth.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Can we all agree no actor wants to get their ass kicked on this film? Right, we should have thought about it. So the way it works, you show up and there's a rehearsal, right? So the first thing is a stunt rehearsal. So we're all sitting there, remember this? I do.
Starting point is 00:17:20 We're at Body English in the Hard Rock. We have our coffees. Body English. We're shooting there. You remember that place, man. Seven in the morning, the cameras are over there. Yeah, I remember that. We're like sitting English in the Hard Rock. We have our coffees. Body English. We're shooting there. You remember that place, Pat. Yeah, I remember that. We're like sitting there and like, all right, all right, rehearsal's up.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And then the stuntmen go through the thing. I see this dude get launched over the balcony. I'm like, whoa, who's that guy? And he's like, oh, yeah, that's you. I go, fuck. That never happened. Are you guys serious? What, I'm just going to get bounced off every wall
Starting point is 00:17:44 in the place? On my own show. No chance. No chance. And Seth's like, well, you know, I'm a guys serious? What? I'm just gonna get bounced off every wall in the place No chance. No chance. It's just like why you can argue. I'm doing you guys a favor. I don't know that I should get Seth says let's just see what happens. Yes Seth said well, let's just roll and see what happened. Did you fight him? Well, we we we rolled for half a take and then I said, yeah, let's just roll and see what happened. So did you fight him? Well, we rolled for half a take. And then I said, yeah, let's see what happens. So when you roll and you see what happens, you're just obviously off screen. Well, I'm thinking like, you know, Seth is one of those guys that could easily
Starting point is 00:18:12 be like a double jujitsu black belt. True. He's like that guy. So you were like, damn, I might get my ass. He might actually take this seriously. Right. Yeah. And remember too, like, Adrian for a second was like, what do I do?
Starting point is 00:18:22 We're like, you do nothing. You stand on the side. Ripped back to the bar. And you do absolutely, yeah. No actor wants to get beat up. Dylan, have you done scenes where you had to lose a fight? Because Johnny Drama was a one-shot dude. Johnny always won.
Starting point is 00:18:36 He was the hero of that scene, too. I stepped in and like... You were. Well, you solved the Seth Green event. I'm always there for you guys. But you've had to take a couple of beatings in your career, right? I've been in movies where I had it loose. Yeah, it sucks.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Remember? Are you like, are you so you don't do so there's no stunt doubles for those, right? But there are. You guys aren't doing like these big crazy action scenes, but on that one, that wasn't your
Starting point is 00:19:02 we didn't have you lose. Are you are you like, hey, hit me a little bit here or slap me or something like that? Yeah, sometimes I'll say, yeah, let's not do it a million times, but let's get one good one for the camera where you can really give me a good slap. Like Tyson slapped Jake Paul. Like that was a real slap.
Starting point is 00:19:15 You guys on the Victory podcast, did you ever tell the Klitschko fight story? Yeah, so yeah. So we could talk about it real quick. All right. So one of the first live event things we ever shot out I think even before the Laker game because like episode three is the first we shot, you know, HBO did the fights We shot at a Klitschko fight, right and it was the first time we were doing this sort of thing
Starting point is 00:19:35 It's funny cuz I was at Staples Center two weeks ago and we did that exact walk we do after and we're all sitting together In a row and then Luke Wilson is doing a cameo doing us a solid real quick when we couldn't get cameos at all. So he's with us. So he's with us at the fight and we see him later, but we're doing the fight part. And I want to say, was it all of like Klitschko's family in front of us? There was a Klitschko machine. Do you remember it clearly? No, I just remember there was a row of big guys.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Giant Ukrainian dudes. So at one point, I feel like they were just standing up a lot during the fight. And Luke was like, hey, like down in front, like sit like- No, no, wait, wait, hold on. No, am I wrong? Kevin Connelly took a piece of paper, crumpled it up and threw it at him. He threw a piece of paper. I said, hey, sit down, he threw a piece of paper.
Starting point is 00:20:19 He threw a piece of paper at him. No, no, no. Do you remember who was hit? I threw Lennox Lewis. Lennox Lewis hit Lennox Lewis in the back of the head. Wait, so you did that as part of the show or just- Yeah, no, no. Do you remember who it hit? I threw Lennox Lewis. Lennox Lewis. So you did that as part of the show or just? Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. Or you're just fucking around. We did that on his own. Yeah, why are you throwing? We were supposed to be rowdy and I got you.
Starting point is 00:20:35 We were supposed to be rowdy. Queen's like he meant to hit Lennox. I think he was going for someone else. Right. But we were on camera. I knew we were on camera. Did those guys know that you were filming behind you? No, no one knew. No one knew about us. And then he slapped at some point. One of the giant. I don't know if he was a Klitschko relative or not. Just turned around, open hand, smacks
Starting point is 00:20:55 Luke Wilson in the face. And we all punk. Yeah. We all kind of like snap into action for a minute. And then you just look at the size of the whole row. And I was like, we're going to get slaughtered. God, we were in trouble. Talk was like, we're going to get slaughtered here. Talk about getting beat up on your own show.
Starting point is 00:21:08 That would have been, that was in that rough. Did that make it? There's video of it. It did not make the cut, but that's on film. In that episode, you can see some of that happening? Oh, yeah. No, not really. No, I mean, I don't think you feel the tension, but you could probably ID those dudes. Yeah, right?
Starting point is 00:21:24 Yeah. And. Yeah. And then we could ID him. That was a good one. Would you say we were like a competitive group? The four of the three of us, I should say, within each other? Of course. Right. The three of us, you just leave out Adrian. Adrian's not a competitive guy.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Any sport, if we're playing basketball, we're throwing snowballs at each other. If it's anything. Yeah. So I talk about this with Matt and Matt's been in some movies, he's been on sets, we're gonna get you later with something. But I think, you know, actors don't always get reputations of being like tough or whatever. You two have, and I say this to my dying day, I would put what you guys did up with any NFL injury,
Starting point is 00:22:04 any anything, because you saved the photo shoot that was not going to happen. We finally got, this is like season four, we got excited because we got the Entertainment Weekly cover, which is a big deal at the time. I don't even think it was that, bro. I think it was our first cover. I think it was like, no, it was something bigger than that. It was like Vanity Fair.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Or Vanity Fair. I thought it was Entertainment Weekly. No, it was like the inside. We were the cover story, inside part. And you find out weeks in advance, and then I know you guys have maybe told it, but the night before, maybe it was two days before, the night before, we're shooting a scene where,
Starting point is 00:22:36 and it was like a nothing scene, Connelly's character pulls up, we're just shooting around in the driveway, and Adrian and Dylan in character, are just shooting around, playing a little one-on-one almost but not like half speed right and then what happened? They lay up basically. You were trying to make some moves like you tried to do like a little shake and like you know. And Adrian was trying to play a little too much defense at that stage. He's dangling everywhere. He's not gonna be playing any offense. Anyway I landed on his foot my arm my hand landed between the pavers.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah, you were going down. They put the basketball hoop in a terrible spot because it looked good for the shot. It was uneven. My hand landed in between the pavers. I had a compound fracture in my arm. It was gnarly. It popped out.
Starting point is 00:23:19 I remember Dylan falls and with his arm down and he just starts going, broken arm, broken arm, broken arm, and we're like, okay arm broken arm broken arm and we're like okay dude and then where we shot there was a fountain and his instinct was he took off he put his arm in the fountain he was looking for something cold anything cold and then we looked at the medic up here I was like get me a van immediately. It was a gut wrenching scream. Did you call Doug out and you worried about Collin. You stopped the episode. Oh, we shut down. The next day is what? The next morning is the photo shoot. So I had a, yeah, I went to Cedar Side and I had a, they operated on me.
Starting point is 00:23:47 They put a plate in there and a bunch of screws. We all think, all right, we're clearly not doing the photo shoot. We're concerned about him. So it's like, all right, maybe we'll get the photo shoot down there. And then like Rocky Balboa, it's like, no, bro, I'll be at that photo shoot. I think next morning. It was our first call. It was our first call.
Starting point is 00:23:55 It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call.
Starting point is 00:24:03 It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our first call. It was our's like, no, bro, I'll be at that photo shoot. I think next morning, it was our first cover. I was like, we got to make it. You got heard on Friday, got the surgery on Saturday and you were at the photo shoot on Sunday and if you look, they put, you know, the next day, I think it was the next day. The next day. It was Saturday.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Splitting hairs. We'll show these photos. Yeah, no, it was the very next day. You broke it, surgery and photo shoot the same day. We'll just tell that. We'll show these photos. No, it was the very next day. You broke it surgery and photo shoot the same day. We'll just tell that. We'll show the photos. That's even better. And he's like, you're in a bathroom. If you see the cover, I look so bloated because I was on an IV the whole time.
Starting point is 00:24:36 So I look really puffed. And we hid your hand. Yes, I had to hide my arm behind some of the other guys. And is there still metal in your arm from that? Oh, yeah, I still got a plate and I got screws and his is gnarly, bro. And so that to me is Iron Man. So I'm sticking up for our actors. And then Connelly speaking about our time, the hardest hit ever got hit in the NFL after this.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Well, Connelly and I are competitive, I think in a healthy way. Right. We talk to each other. He breaks my balls 20 and 10. We'll get to that. Don't worry Celebrity all-star games he played 20 and 10 in high school Went to Duke Devils five foot six was a 12 10, 10 and you were double double average. I said for four games I put, I went on a run where he actually pulled out an article too.
Starting point is 00:25:32 He did pull out a blurb. He did pull out. I'll be at somewhere. I'll hear from across an event. 20 and 10. I'm like, Oh fuck Connelly's here. That's fantastic. I just think it's an egregious stat.
Starting point is 00:25:43 You did have a great, Super Bowl flag football game. Jerry was unstoppable. He was unbelievable. I'm sure you heard about that. Well, this is why we got to get Matt back. But he was like very ungracious in his MVP. Have you seen this footage? He was.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I took on the heel character like the late great Tony Saragusa was doing the sideline. This is the beach. This is the direct TV beach ball. So but it looks good on TV. I took on the heel character like the late great Tony Saragusa was doing the sideline, right? Is this the beach? This is the direct TV beach ball. So, but it looks good on TV. It looks organized on TV. It looks like a real, I caught a TD and a, and a, and a two point conversion and Saragusa grabs me. He's like Jerry Gervin and he grabs me by the way, it hurt. He's like such a big guy. And he's like, Jerry, your team's down, but you're playing really well. What would you say to the rest of your team? I just went play like me. You believe this? Connelly's appalled. He's appalled. I said, congratulations. And I can't believe that you would be such a sore winner. You were wildly unlikeable, Jerry. Wildly unlikeable.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Well, speaking of play like me, he says, and then you had a couple. Did you do like a weird spike? I did a sand angel. Oh yeah. That's right. That's right. And then a sand angel. All right. Now you tell me what you're thinking is though. So when we're shooting the movie, right? And we had, for whatever reason, we had a lot of NFL players. Everyone, Matt, you should have been there, by the way. We had Russell Wilson, Clay Matthews, Gronk, Edelman. You remember this, Dylan? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:56 All these guys. There was like 200 cameos. It was on the beach. And they're like, you know what's a great idea? Russ, why don't you throw Connelly and Jerry some routes? All right. So we immediately get fucking competitive. I run, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Russ tells me, he tells me to run an out route. I think, right. Okay. I run a little five yard out and Connelly fucking drops a shoulder and lays me out on the beach. I wrap my arms and I'm like, Jerry, I love you. I had no choice. I had no choice. I had no choice.
Starting point is 00:27:26 The camera was rolling. So now it's starting to get competitive. Now Connelly, we switched Connelly's on offense. I forget whatever route you drew. Rust air mailed me. Rust, well Rust threw a high one, but you catch it, right? No, no, no. He didn't want me to go out, like,
Starting point is 00:27:41 cause there's the cliff. Oh, there was a cliff. And I was like, I want to go deep and out into the court. He's like, no, no, no, cut in. I was like, no. He's like, we run on the plane. He air mails it, threw the ball off the ledge. Right, but that's not when you got the injury.
Starting point is 00:27:51 No, then I said, all right, I'll go in. Then they, yeah, so. And then I came in and Jerry lined me up and broke the plane. Well, I lined him up, I wrapped him up, I have him, and then this motherfucker starts extending for the end zone. I was trying to break the plane. I was going to let go, but now he's trying to break the plane. So I grabbed tight and then he like dies to her and I slid down his body and we just heard
Starting point is 00:28:12 like, it was like chopsticks. Do you remember what I said to you? The first words was that I said, what was that? He's like, that's my leg. Oh my God. I was, and by the way, it was, first of all, it was, there was a four day thing and this is like 10 30 in the morning on day one. I'm like, dude, I was like, I mean, I mean, I, yeah, I knew I that one. Right. But do you remember the first attendant on the scene who came up and diagnosed you?
Starting point is 00:28:35 Edelman. It was Edelman. It goes, you're fine, bro. It's a high ankle sprain. I was like, I don't remember what I said. I said, that's broken. I'm the only one who thought it was broke. Yeah. I said, that's broken. I works a whole day. thought it was broke. Yeah, I said, that's broken. I knew. It had a little bend in it. Connelly works a whole day with a high ankle sprain, gronk's telling him, just tie your shoes tight at the end of the day.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Don't take your shoes off, keep them on. At the end of the day, I just remember looking at Kevin. He's like, guys, I fucking, I really think I need to go to the hospital. Like, all right, we finished the day. Let's get him in the hospital. How many breaks did you have? No, when I did, no, we we did the third on the end of the third
Starting point is 00:29:07 day I was like I can't I had like tears streaming down my face sunglasses on do you remember what we did you we had a hit a mark and he couldn't barely walk so I barely walk in the scene you can see this in the scene I basically go I put my arm around my belt I thought I got, no, no, you grabbed me by my belt, right? I thought I got onto you too. No, no. I grabbed you by the belt and I carried him to his mark. Five or six feet away. And it looks natural, you both? You can see it in the movie though. Can you see it?
Starting point is 00:29:30 If you know it, you can see it. Oh, this is the movie. Yeah, he grabbed me by the back of my belt. So I was like, we're gonna hit that mark no matter what. It looked like I was just like gliding across the- I gave him a wedgie and put him on his mark. That was bad. By the way, just, actors are tough, man.
Starting point is 00:29:42 I just changed all my- Do you have a different impersonation now of us? Not at all. Oh, these three are they're not all tough. You know, in the movie, in the movie, remember when there's the shot where we're driving the Lincoln through the sound stage? Yeah, yeah. Back lot. That was only because that was us walking. And then when I broke my leg, they're like, let's just put them in the link. And it ended up driving around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:02 So your leg break got us. What. No, I'm just saying. What's your hardest hit? So the worst week of my life. So I'm playing, it's 2007. We're playing Pittsburgh at home. And I basically, this is James Harrison, Paula Malu airs. Paula Malu, god, beast.
Starting point is 00:30:19 And so I go bootleg, roll out, and James Harrison just comes free. And James Harrison is about 5'10", 250 pounds. He's just like a million pounds. He's just mean. And I'm just like, and I immediately, my thought, to get out, I see him, and my thought is just to kind of jump and just throw a jump ball over him to the flat and just like take the hit.
Starting point is 00:30:41 That's just what happened in real time. That happens. He picks me up by my waist and just pile take the hit. That's just what happened in real time. That happens. He picks me up like by my waist and just pile drives me straight down. That was back when you were allowed to do that. Right. Yeah. No, he literally pile drives me. And so to get so like I took a lot of guys take a lot of pride. Like if you get hit to get just get back up, get back up. I did it. Like I did it when I broke my collarbone. I got back up and I could feel it. I was just like, oh fuck.
Starting point is 00:31:06 And I just like, in my mind, I was like, it's not over, it's not over. And then I'm like, I called time out. I was like, it's over. This was in Houston. So I'm on the ground and I'm like this, and I'm like, oh fuck, I can't move. I couldn't move my back.
Starting point is 00:31:17 I wasn't, I could move everything. I was just like, so it was the only time in my career where I was out, I was down. Like the trainers came out and they're like, you all right? I said, yeah, I think whatever. So I sat out of out, I was down, like the trainers came out and they're like, you all right? I said, yeah, I think whatever. So I sat out of play, I finished the game. You finished the game?
Starting point is 00:31:30 Got a little tour it all shot, finished the game. What should happen? What kind of show? Tour it all right in the ass cheek. Connelly needed a tour it all show. You can't do that anymore. What does it do? Just buys you like a few hours?
Starting point is 00:31:39 It's basically instant, yeah, it's basically instant like quarter zone. It just in, boom, you have three hours, you feel like Superman. So they- But after that three hours is up, then the come instant like quarter zone. It just in boom. You have three hours. You feel like Superman So they they but after that three hours is up then well Night I was like I basically had a back contusion My whole lower back my right butt cheek all the way down to my hamstring was the color of my pants You couldn't it was black and purple. Oh my god. So I got all this treatment
Starting point is 00:32:06 For three days four days. I missed practice. I couldn't move. I played the next Sunday. So Sunday Sunday, broke my collarbone that next week against the Rams. And that was that's and that's we had Kurt Warner, we had Kurt Warner on. Oh, right. Yeah. And that was like, when he took over, and then he ended up taking the job. But it was the worst seven days. This was wow, James Harrison. We are tough. That sounds like one of the no diagnosis. Did you back contusion? Yeah. But like when you're getting tackled and you just feel you feel the you
Starting point is 00:32:34 feel your bone crack. You're like, yeah, I'm like, you're like, oh shit, like, and it doesn't hurt right away. And all of a sudden, it's like, oh, God, like afterward, the one time I was doing this movie in Puerto Rico and I got the flu and it was the only time I could not answer the bell, man. You couldn't work. I didn't have any dialogue.
Starting point is 00:32:52 They're like, all you have to do is stand there. I said, I know, I'm looking at this. I know what I got, I can't. I just can't do it. Should've showed up, bro. I could stand up, I tried, bro, I tried. It was awful. You know what's another crazy thing was when I broke my wrist,
Starting point is 00:33:04 I got the guy in the van taking me to Cedar Sinai. He's looking at my arm, so it's my right arm. By the way, I broke them both, that's why you were, but I'm holding up my, it had an S shape in the arm and he's looking at it the whole time like, he wants to throw up. He gets to Cedar Sinai, pulls up the ramp, runs around to get the door for me,
Starting point is 00:33:24 forgets to put it in drive, in park, leaves it in drive and the thing starts rolling down the hill. So now I had to reach over and stop the brake. Someone's trying to kill Dylan today. Dylan's like straddled over the things, tried to put it in the car. I had to put the brake on. That was wild.
Starting point is 00:33:40 What a wild time that was. I was asking Jared this, when you guys, like going back to the beginning, when you're auditioning for this show and obviously iconic show and the chemistry you guys had what what was it like when you first auditioned? And you're all getting to know each other because I asked Jerry was like did you like were you and Connelly boys or like you guys? Obviously have a competitive relationship. What were what were those relationships like early on was it like synergy right away? Yeah, right? I mean we had a lot in common, all of us. Yeah, we're all New Yorkers. And we didn't know each other.
Starting point is 00:34:08 Everyone automatically assumes, oh, you guys must've known each other a little bit, right? And I had never met, I really hadn't worked all that much at that point, I'd done like little things here and there, but obviously I'm like, fuck, I know Dylan from Platoon and The Doors and Connelly, I was watching his sitcom when I was a kid, so I know these guys, right? I know of them.
Starting point is 00:34:29 But I always say it's the thing that you can, I think it's similar with sports. We're talking to Flaherty about it too. It's like, you can't cast chemistry. It either kind of happens or it doesn't. Now, sometimes you can not have chemistry and a movie or show could still be good, but it helps to have the chemistry.
Starting point is 00:34:44 And I do think that we just had it early on. I can't point to why other than maybe it's because we're all from New York. Well, I remember when we first met, was that the audition? You were sitting out there, you had a Giants jersey on. I did have a Giants jersey. How many jerseys they've changed? It might've been an LT. You had a Giants jersey.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Was it an LT? I think it was Seahorn. I want to say it was Jason Seahorn. I suppose this goes back to my take on it. As a Giants fan, I'm like, hey, what's up? You're from New York? You wore the best. Me too. I'm like, hey, you got another shirt? I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, Iahorn. I want to say Jason Seahorn. As a Giants fan, I'm like, hey, what's up? You from New York? Me too. I'm like, hey, you got another smoke?
Starting point is 00:35:10 We were all smug. So you're a Giants fan? Yeah, I'm a big Giants fan. I must have mooched like five cigarettes off of you. Sorry about that. Then I see him at another audition. Once again, I got no smoke. I got a different jersey on.
Starting point is 00:35:22 You got another smoke, bro? We were Bettis. This wasn't the first time I met you. This was like so early on. Yeah, I guess we did about six. There's a lot of four auditions and then the screen test. It all heads to the final day where it's like cut day. It's the test, right?
Starting point is 00:35:41 Where the net HBO is there, all the producers. And then you're in the waiting room and you have like There's like three actors for turtle. I could see the other turtles. You could see the other No other dramas that No, there was no other drama drama Was there ever like so you're auditioning for turtle with other guys Yeah, some of the other guys do they ever become like big-time actors yeah there's like you missed out you know you always hear that like oh they could have had that role but they missed out it's not missing out it's not
Starting point is 00:36:09 missing either the guy who were they like well I know what you you and actually dash me was on Ray Donovan for years been in a million thing never stops more than anybody yeah but I know I almost didn't get it because everyone's concern was always like me and Dylan, like there's like not that big of an age gap, but these guys were supposed to be in high school together. And I get like, that's why they made me, that's why Turtle always had a beard.
Starting point is 00:36:34 I couldn't even grow a beard back then. And they put me in these like baggy jerseys because they were trying to make me look older. And basically they told me like, if you're not gonna get it, it's because you're too young. You're 23 and you look like you're 12. But for all the deep dives on the show, nobody ever said a word. No one told me like, if you don't, if you're not going to get it, it's because you're too young. You're 23 and you look like you're 12. But for all the deep dives on the show, nobody ever said,
Starting point is 00:36:47 ever mentioned, like there's no way turtle and Johnny drama went to high. Never was it right. Not one time. No one ever mentioned it. But yeah, like the chemistry. Like I was let back a couple of years. Like how many years were you in high school? But I will say too, do you think what Wahlberg did helped with? But we shot the pilot and then when we got picked up, there's a big time gap in between shooting the pilot and when HBO
Starting point is 00:37:11 makes the decision, like, all right, we're going to go with your show. Once we got word, we're going to start shooting in like three weeks. Wahlberg says, all right, I'm going to take you guys on a private plane. Now, I've never flown, I've flown three times in my life, let alone in a PJ Maloof's. Right. We're going to go to Vegas. We're going to go to an HBO fly. We're going to roll together. We're like research. We'll do some research. And I remember rolling up to the Burbank airport like, uh, I got a tail number meeting Mark Wahlberg. They're like, get the fuck out of here. Do you remember what fight that was? It was Roy Jones Tarver. No, wasn't it Corrales? Wasn't it like something crazy? Or maybe it was like one of the Corrales Do you remember what fight that was? It was Roy Jones Tarver. No? Wasn't it Corrales?
Starting point is 00:37:46 Wasn't it like something crazy? Well, maybe it was like one of the Corrales. It was like the Corrales fight. Yeah, it was an insane fight. But we go on a private plane to Vegas, the four of us with Mark and like three of his boys. And we just had an amazing weekend and came back. And it was very evident at that moment, like, OK, we got the
Starting point is 00:38:03 chemistry. We really do. It was fun. I guess it's kind of like that moment like, okay, we got the we got the chemistry. We really do. It was fun. I guess it's kind of like getting sports too, right? You can't you don't know coming in like, hey, we mean Larry Fitzgerald are going to have this amazing you just don't know it either happens or it doesn't. I actually have a theory as well. Like we were never any competition for each other. Right now, like Kevin and Jeremy were a little bit more experienced and a little bit older. And you know, roles and yeah, it wasn't like, you know, Jerry, you know, Adrian was, you know, in a band as well. And like the Honey Brothers was never any real direct competition. The tricky part was the the screen test was knowing who's who, you know, I remember at times
Starting point is 00:38:39 I was calling you, and I'm like, oh, wait, easy. OK, I got to figure out who's I did. I did have a surreal Wahlberg moment at the test. You remember, like what they do is it's almost like the Olympics. You're going to do your individual read and then we're going to pair you up. I go in for my individual read and it was like I thought it was OK. I was just doing what I normally thought I was doing. I come back out to that awful waiting room where everyone's nervous and Walberg comes out. I never met Walberg at this point.
Starting point is 00:39:03 And he's like pointing at someone and he's like motioning I'm like fuck he's motioning for me. So I walk over and he literally puts his arm around me. He's like Listen, that was fine What you did in there but like you know that moment everyone talks about like this is your moment This is your fucking moment. You're like kind of fucking it up. Like I don't care. He said he said to me I don't care about the script. I don't care. Just go do what you've been doing. Be yourself. Stop being nervous. This is already after this was.
Starting point is 00:39:29 I think at the part I made it to the final three. It's like the final three were dueling to the. So he wanted you. He was like, I want this kid to. I think in their mind, like maybe I was the leader in the class. But by the way, you already saw he said, I've seen your tapes. I know it like I don't know. Like he even saw it. He said, I've seen your tapes. I know what, like, I don't know. Like, he even said, be mean, be more New York.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Like, just have more attitude. And it was like the greatest cup of coffee. I remember walking back like, holy shit, I gotta step it up. And then what gets real nerve wracking, they send people home. They're like, okay, you can go, Kevin. And in the very end, it was like Kevin, Kevin, Jerry, and I think it was a different Adrian. four stay come on in and we read together
Starting point is 00:40:08 And you just walk home, and you still don't know you just wait you still don't know when you leave They couldn't get Adrian out of at a max at a max right Adrian was a like Vince was hiding in Mexico Adrian wasn't at the test so they was he hiding in Mexico god knows. I just don't even think that he, at that point- He was like living on the- Yeah, he- Playing guitar and like walking around Mexico. I don't think he cared much if he got it or not. I didn't think he knew how much he was up for the role.
Starting point is 00:40:34 But he put himself on tape and someone in the office cut my audition and his audition together. I mean, that's his biggest role. I mean, that's- Well, yeah. I mean, it's a big chase. I don't think he knew even at the time. Hindsight is 20-20. Of course, yeah. I do remember the's his biggest role. I mean, that's well, yeah, I mean, it's a big change. I don't think he knew even at the time and hindsight is, of course, I do remember
Starting point is 00:40:48 the president of HBO at the time was like, you guys have no Vince. So you have no show. Show is not getting made. We didn't have Vince at that we have we were locked in. Vince was not cast. And then that editor made that tape of Connelly's audition. He cut it with Adrian's audition tape. And Chris Albrecht watched it and went, okay, you guys can go make the pilot. And that was it. So.
Starting point is 00:41:07 And you remember the opening scene, the change of the scene? We shot the original opening of the pilot, which is like a three or four page scene. Watch. It was a, I heard it wasn't great. It was us and. Tom Bergens, wasn't it?
Starting point is 00:41:20 Tom Bergens. Tom Bergens. I had a couple nights in Tom Bergens. You've definitely had a couple of nights at Tom Bergens. I mean, so nights in Tom Bergens. You've definitely had a couple nights at Tom Bergens. I mean, so we're doing this, 04, you're at USC. Were you guys like watching Entourage? Well, me and we ran into each other far too often. I never ran into you.
Starting point is 00:41:36 So part of us doing this, we were like talking, like, man, we were in LA at the same time. And I was like, yeah, I used to run into Connelly all the time. Like we were like boys, like whatever, knew a lot of the people in the same circle we yeah entourage was number one for for all of us and it was like I I got labeled like going into NFL like labeled the Hollywood guy that was like what they would say on ESPN and shit I was telling Jerry the story so I'm in I'm in OTAs or summer Arizona rookie year. And there's this middle linebacker like eight years in. And he was my boy, but he's like, this isn't a play.
Starting point is 00:42:14 We're going like, you know, whatever. Vinny Chase, Vinny Chase is in boys. Like literally, like I could not escape it. And so he was, he literally to this day, if I saw him right now, he'd be like, what's up Vin Vinny he was I was just to him wow and then I never said this before so I was in the NFL combine and in the combine you basically do like like speed dating at one point you just go around with every coach whoever wants to meet with you five minutes whatever and then there's about four or five
Starting point is 00:42:42 teams who are interested in see where like, hey, we could draft him here. They'll grill you for like a 20, like a room like this. You're in front of eight GMs, all this stuff, and they just grill you. And mine was Sean Payton, and he was with the Saints because they were picking two. And I was- Sean's awesome.
Starting point is 00:42:58 So I'm in this and I had visited out there. Like it was a real thing. I ended up taking Reggie, my teammate, but it was a real thing for them to possibly draft me and the whole session was about entourage and hollywood swear to god he referenced he's like yeah he was referencing entourage and like that i was part of the combine this is great no and i was a part of an on like because right because i because i was just as i had this label like, Like as a concern, like, A concern, like, hey, yeah,
Starting point is 00:43:27 Cause they're about to invest. Are you going to be a problem with your entourage? Exactly, they're about to invest millions of dollars. Just like, Hey, what's up? What's up entourage? You know, we have this entourage thing like, Evan, that was the whole thing. Wow.
Starting point is 00:43:36 It was maybe five minutes of football and I could like talk football, right? So it was like, the other one was like, who are these people? Why do you have so many people around you? And it was just like, you always ask. You have too many friends. Stop hating on entourages, bro.
Starting point is 00:43:47 No, he always says like how he gets like the parallels of athletes having an entourage and how that- It's so strange. Like your show is really like, honestly, looking back, like I live that with my entourage of my boys. And I had good ones. I had guys that you just kind of weed out as you get older, you know, cause they take advantage of all that.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Or they weed themselves out or they weed them. That's why the show is so great because it still stands the test of time. Like it's still like you said, Zion Zion came up to you. Yeah. After a Knicks game one time, I I'm getting ready to leave and I just like this giant clap on my shoulder and I look and Zyler flinched. I was like, holy shit. Zion Williamson, what's up?
Starting point is 00:44:21 He's like, hey, man, when I was injured last year, I binged on entourage. I'd never seen it before. And it got me through. And he literally looked at me and he went, I just wish I had like a turtle or a drama. And I like almost not that I felt bad for him. Almost like, man, I hope you got people or I'm sure he does have good people around him, but he really looked at me and said, I just wish I had like, kind of like what we had on the show. More than just binge on entourage. He always packed on a couple pounds. Wow, but now he's in great shape.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Now he's in great shape. He's in really, really good shape. Sick athlete. I just wanted to imagine. I mean, it's different. But for how you guys are living in that time, like that's you're consuming your life, you're living it like off camera in real life. I know we used to run each other in Hollywood and stuff.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Like how is there, does it relate to any of you guys and you're off or you're just like this is work you go to you go to work every day you get home go to your families or whatever was there like were you living that in reality too to some degree? Yeah. Kevin was. I was not. I was living in Maribu. I mean you're like a small child at home. It's just ridiculous. That little small child at home. You know, it's just ridiculous. But I was a party. I was in a nightclub. I get where you were.
Starting point is 00:45:28 You're a little bit a little bit. You're on a bar. You're on a bar stool. I was just in a different, just a different format. Dylan, the same thing at the end of the day. Now, now I listen to a certain extent. I get just kind of. Yeah, I mean, I guess it was what it was.
Starting point is 00:45:42 I remember. Do you remember the first I had the first time at the Playboy Mansion? You remember that? Sherri and I went to the Playboy Mansion. It was, I mean, it was that kind of stuff, but it's just also a different time then too. People now are just, you know, you're gun shy, right? Nobody, it's just like everything's on, you're always on camera.
Starting point is 00:45:58 I feel like Adrian spoke about this too. I think for him, it got a little blurry at times, like playing this larger than life movie star. And then he's, I got a little blurry at times, like I'm playing this larger than life movie star and then he's, you know, in a healthy way, he's going out, living his life, having fun. I think he has talked later saying like, yeah, it got real blurry for me. I was always afraid to like get fired or something because I always felt I was the most experienced on the show. I mean, you know, you said you've been, I mean, when did you start acting? I mean, you know, you said you've been, I mean, when'd you start acting? I mean, I've been doing it for, like Dylan was in two best picture. Dylan was in two best picture.
Starting point is 00:46:31 With the greatest hair in the history of cinema. So for me, I was always like, I would go out here and there, but I just was always afraid like, you're going to fuck this up. I would try to drag Jerry out once in a while. You get him out. I was, I was a bad, like, I never saw you out one time. I didn't go out a lot. I would try to drag Jerry out once in a while. You get him out once in a while. I was a bad wingman. I never saw you out one time. I didn't go out a lot.
Starting point is 00:46:48 I was always in relationships. Later on. Later on I had my moment of like, I'm just gonna enjoy this a little more. I moved to West Hollywood. We had a sleepover. Jerry slept over one night. Jerry, let's call it like it is.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Connelly and Adrian were partying a lot. Kevin would walk in, he would show up in the morning with red eyes. He looked like he had been maced. He's like, give me some of those blue drops. You know, put these blue Vizin drops in there. You guys remember our first year at the Golden Globes? And I bring it up for a reason.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Yes, when we busted each other's jobs in the red carpet. By the way, you really ran with that one. So, all right, I'm going Golden Globes for a minute because one, we didn't really expect to get nominated for a Golden Globe at first. It was shocking. And we go, and it was the first and only time,
Starting point is 00:47:32 and it just timed out this way, our first day of shooting season two was the Monday morning after the Sunday party. And all I really remember was we went to all the parties, had this great night. And I remember getting back to my apartment putting my head on the pillow And then my alarm basically went right to work and we went right no sleep right to where it was a rough hair and makeup And it was like an herb, but it was it was just like a shot We just had to get in there we were out by like 10, but we had to go in there
Starting point is 00:47:58 It was just like just pull it together just pull we just gotta make it through this Fucking rally and get through the next 12 minutes, and you'll be in your car on the way home. Now I might have butchered this story. You have a good memory with this. I tried to tell the us in the bathroom at the Golden Globe story. I might have had details incorrect. I want to make sure I got, I think this is the funniest thing I've ever. You wantbie woman make sure I said it right do you remember it well so listen the Golden Globes the fun thing about the goal the best party that you were at a table you're not in like you're not in the auditorium you can have some drink we got to kind of start this off on what happened at the red carpet what happened we've been going off on each other the whole time well you we quite I did there was a war when you said those luxury sweetsites, you know, where they give you your free stuff and there was a spray tan thing like, come on, come in and get a free
Starting point is 00:48:49 spray tan. So it's like, all right, let me get it. You got a spray tan. I got a spray tan. He got a whole lot of the car. He had to tell everyone he had busted my balls. So it's a pair of white eyes. I was going to say, like, I was bad. I wish I had done it. You know, but yeah, bad choice. Wait, was that the first shot? could tell. It was bad. I wish I hadn't done it, you know? But bad choice.
Starting point is 00:49:05 So wait, was that the first shot in the war? That was the first shot. I didn't know. I didn't know I cut him that deep. So I was like, all right, let's go. Here we go. So we go on CNN. His chops about, oh my god, he showed up so long over me.
Starting point is 00:49:16 No, he said it on CNN. I was like, Dylan, you just started a war. And he's like, all right, relax. Let's talk about, I'm willing to call a truce if you're willing. And this is on the red carpet. It's on the red carpet. He had to eventually call a truce. Yeah, but Connelly came in last week
Starting point is 00:49:29 looking like he'd been maced the night before. I was like, Dylan, you're dead. You're a dead man walking. And the next time we're on here, I'm gonna carve you to shreds. He's like, all right, all right, relax. I'm willing to walk away if you're willing to walk away. We had to call a truce.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Cease fire, cease fire. You see there's a cease fire. But the Golden Bath was thefire. But it was still active at this stage, right? So he had just busted my chops about this spray tan and we're in the bathroom. I'm at the urinals. Well, we're at the table, but we left separately, but we ended up in the bathroom together. Who else is in the bathroom? Do you remember? So I know it was Pierce Brosnan. Pierce Brosnan. I knew from Malibu nowable rice I'm running to him. It was the craziest line It was a dude at the back and then was in there
Starting point is 00:50:10 James Cameron was he could have crazy Or like some massive Johnny Scott or some no Johnny was not the place was was packed. It's quiet It's very tense. Also, it's like a commercial, you know, I'm at the urinal very tax also it's like a commercial you know I'm at the urinal prostate is the I'll let you finish the story Connelly comes walking what do I say all right cover up gentlemen we got a peeker in here here's brazen you can see everyone higher economy higher plastic I was just like I threw my hands up, I'm like, hey. Classic peeker, classic peeker. Peter Gaser.
Starting point is 00:50:46 And then you gotta tell the story about, so we're out on the back patio, and I remember Kevin Bacon was there. Remember Kevin Bacon, it's me, Dylan. Kevin Bacon, we're smoking a cigarette, having a drink. Shooting the shit, this guy walks up to Kevin and he's like, hey, how you doing, man? You know, we went to high school together.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Dylan's like, hope I didn't beat you up too bad. He's like, and he did say, no, no, no, you're always very nice to me. You're always very nice to me. And Dylan's like, oh yeah, what are you doing here? Oh, I directed a movie. He's like, really? What movie?
Starting point is 00:51:16 He's like, Capote? Same director as Moneyball as well, Bennett Miller. Capote. Dylan's like, you know I always liked you, right, bro? This is true too. I'm like sitting there I'm going and Kevin Bacon goes no you heard it. I know you're asking if that really happened and I'm here to confirm that he just said that it was unreal.
Starting point is 00:51:35 It was Bennett. I knew him well. He was a great guy. Great guy. Great guy. I mean he had grown a couple feet so he looked completely different. Couple Oscar nominations. Couple Oscar nominations. I still, he had grown a couple of feet, so it looked completely different. Couple Oscar nominations. Couple Oscar nominations. I still haven't gotten a call.
Starting point is 00:51:48 Dylan, we were just together shooting something, right? And so fun. And we're going to talk reboot stuff only because I had a realization after shooting this moment, and it's been on Instagram now where, you know, you come over to me, you take your glasses off, you deliver your line. I'm like, fuck fuck this guy still got his fastball, man. He's just throwing heat still. But you said something in between takes, we were talking about like, when you were growing up,
Starting point is 00:52:11 and the Bennett Miller years, we'll call them, and you had mentioned too, like once, once your brother Matt kind of went off, like dude, there's a lot of hatred, like hating on Matt, and dudes would show up, looking to like, where's Matt? And then you'd have to like step out and roll with these. Yeah, he was such a big teen idol at this stage. And you had to kind of...
Starting point is 00:52:28 Girls had his poster and they all loved him. You were in the marching band this time, right? A lot of guys hated him from other schools. They would come to our school, looking to beat Matt up, which they probably wouldn't be able to do. And Matt's a pretty tough dude. But then they come up, where's the next Dylan? My brother Paul had, you know,
Starting point is 00:52:46 I ended up fighting these idiots. So they came after you too? He was also in the marching band as well, so he wasn't on the football team, he was in the marching band. No, I was not. Yes you are. No, I did a little, I played the drums a little bit,
Starting point is 00:52:59 but I actually never marched. You were not in the marching band. I was not in the marching band. But then you, that's not what I knew. I know my paradiddles. I knew. Your paradiddles? That's a drumming thing.
Starting point is 00:53:10 He doesn't speak the language. He doesn't understand music. The language of music. And then how old were you when you left for platoon? You were still like, you were like, yeah, just out of high school. I was probably 17 when I left. I was 18 when I was there.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Me and Charlie were the two youngest guys. Me and Charlie. You were 17, 18, Charlie Sheen was like the same age. Same age, yeah. Did you run around with Charlie back in the day? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a good guy. Especially in the Philippines, we had a great time.
Starting point is 00:53:36 I bet. And we still see each other a lot. They're still alive. We're going to do, another platoon reunion. Oh really? That's awesome. Texting with Charlie again. Oh, that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:53:49 What a lineup. Unfortunately, we lost one of our platoon brothers, Tony Todd, I don't know if you guys. Sorry to hear that. Great actor, really great guy. It was kind of heartbreaking because I just saw him recently. But yeah, he was gonna be coming to this great reunion too.
Starting point is 00:54:04 You know, we're really tight, this platoon group. How often do you guys get together? We shot that in 86. Would you rather hang out with them or me and Jerry? Probably every, oh them. I love you guys too, man. But yeah, so it'll be great. About every eight years maybe we get together, James.
Starting point is 00:54:20 That's cool. Yeah. Give or take. Yeah. Yeah, I just think about, I just don't know It's such a young age to go off to the Philippines and do a movie like that that's well my parents didn't want me to go because there was a
Starting point is 00:54:34 Revolution right there Philippines. They just ousted Marcos There were tanks in the streets and they're like we don't want you to go but I know you know what I had just turned 18 I was like, so 18 But you know what, I had just turned 18. I was like, I'm 18, I'll do whatever I want. Do whatever I want. I'm going. But a lot of guys actually dropped out and regret it to this day.
Starting point is 00:54:51 Yes, they regret it. And imagine doing that. Say, no, I'm not going to do that. Here's the other thing too. Platoon, for all intents and purposes, was an independent film. Right. This was no big studio film.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Those guys were out there. I think the total budget was like $5 million? $6 million. $6 no big studio film. It was not a big budget. I think the total budget was like five million. Six million. Six million somewhere around there. Yeah. So, you know, now that would be, you know. Six million dollars went a longer way back then. And in the Philippines, you can get a lot for your money.
Starting point is 00:55:16 You know. You're sick. You're sick. What's your guys favorite scene, all time outro? Or like, it could be like an improv or anything, just. Oh man, so many good ones. What's your guys favorite scene all time on truck or like Eddie can be like an improv or anything. Just so many good ones. There's so many good. One of my favorites is the walk and talk or we.
Starting point is 00:55:34 We leave the restaurant. They basically followed us from the restaurant out the door across the street. It was the Jess Mancini line, but it's it's the whole thing. We had to keep finding the camera. I love the walk-in talks. It's one of my favorite shots. One of my favorites was the hardest. The line was great, too.
Starting point is 00:55:52 The desert thing. Oh, Joshua Tree. It was great to watch, but in hindsight, man, it was hot. I'm Irish. We're not going for that heat. It was hot out there, bro. Nowhere to go. We shot the episode in Joshua Tree
Starting point is 00:56:04 where we take mushrooms and we're looking for these answers. And we really went out to the desert. And like I said, it looks amazing. And you're there. But it was so hot. Even like the dog that played Arnold, the dog that played Arnold stormed off set. They had to bring it. Like the dog just started running off and the dog just never came back.
Starting point is 00:56:20 What? What? While there's black and he's got a and he's like, I'm out. I am done for the day. Thank you very much. I look back at the earlier episodes because like we just didn't know. We knew what we were doing. But and I look back at we were even talking like the boxing stuff. I love when we shot at Laker games. We told our the the Kobe story.
Starting point is 00:56:41 You remember the Kobe story? Did I ever tell it to you? That was amazing. So I don't know if it was the first time we're shooting at Staples Center courtside, Kobe was hurt. I mentioned we shot twice. He was always hurt. He was out. He was out for the year. His Achilles, right?
Starting point is 00:56:54 He had a leg injury. The Buddha. So we get to Staples Center at like 4 p.m. They barely want us there at this point. They're giving us very minimal cameras or whatever, but they're giving... We have four amazing courtside seats. So we're there rehearsing at 4 PM. Just to say like where the camera is going to be here. It's here, here. He's giving us a rundown.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Kobe comes out from the back in like just sweats and he's going to get some shots off. He's on one leg. Just him and us. He's shooting now. Of course we all stop what we're doing like Kobe Bryant. And I'm sure he comes over. He's like, what you guys do? Like season two, no one. We didn't really pop yet. And we were like, oh, I'll answer. I was like, OK.
Starting point is 00:57:32 And it's ignored us. Just went back to shoot. What a sick athlete he is. He's still practicing. Yeah, I'm like one leg. So he still practices. He comes out to half court. We're wrapping up.
Starting point is 00:57:41 He's like, hey, with 100 bucks a shot from half court, my left hand. One foot. With one foot. Left handed. Off my right, off my good leg, left handed. We're like, done, either way we're gonna, it's gonna be great. First shot. We all got him, all four of us.
Starting point is 00:57:56 We took it all, first shot, misses but not by much. He's like, another one. You're like, another one. Every one of them scared the best. Misses but it's like he's all over it. He's dialed it. Yeah. Third, fourth, fifth shot.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Whatever. Never makes it. Never makes it. And not only does he not make it, just leaves. Doesn't say like, that was fun. He doesn't give us any money. That's awesome. So either way. Andy stuck us with the bill.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Stuff us with the money, but it's still a great story. Now we're filming, okay? Kobe's not playing. So at some point in a time out, an athletic trainer comes up to the five of us and peels off $100 bills. This is from, in the middle of the game, this is from Kobe and breaks us off $100 bills.
Starting point is 00:58:36 I had that tucked in. You had the $100 bills still? I had it tucked in. Is it gone? Rainy day, some emergency fund. Did he ever make, he never made this show, did he? So he was supposed to. It's ironic.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Kobe was supposed to have a cameo, which he didn't do, because I think he was in season. And then we ended up getting someone who would. It's become one of the most iconic memes from the show. Kobe was supposed to do the 50 cent cameo. My character, I'm having like this crisis of, oh, I'm not doing anything with my life. Vince buys me a Ferrari. Jamie Lynn buys me a Porsche. I'm driving around the Ferrari,
Starting point is 00:59:09 Beverly Lynn, 50 Cent rolls up to me and is like, you look good and you're dead. And it's a famous meme because he smiles and just drives off. It's on the internet every day, but that was initially written for Kobe, but I think he was in season. And he was like, I have the script still
Starting point is 00:59:22 where it says Kobe Bryant pulls out the turtle. That's cool. But Kobe in season, you're just not getting to him like that. And, um, and it worked out cause the 50 meme is one of my favorite. I also remember, you know, we have, um, the director of this episode, this was Julian, I remember this and he, you know, he's English, right? So, and he's a fanatical soccer football fanat Fanatical. But doesn't know anything about him. And he's like, hey, mates, we're just not looking at him. Oh, with Kobe, you're talking about him.
Starting point is 00:59:51 He's telling us all this stuff, and we're just all looking through him. And I'm like, buddy, this is like, you know, that I'm just trying to come up with somebody. Michael Jordan. Like, this is like, he had no clue who Kobe was. This is like Beckham. Right.
Starting point is 01:00:01 Whatever it was at the time, I was like, trying to come up with an analogy player. Get the fuck out of the way. I was like, dude, this is a big one. Yeah, he was trying to get us refocused. He's like, no, no, no. We're not shooting until Kobe's done with whatever he's doing. Did you guys know it would be a hit at any point? Like, I know you early on.
Starting point is 01:00:15 I did. Dylan was the only one. Like, you knew at a moment, you're like, shit, like, this is going to be great. Yeah, I said, everyone's worried, you know, you shoot the pilot, and then you hope it gets picked up. If it gets, then it did get picked up. I knew it was gonna get picked up because I thought the pilot was great. I told these guys, relax, it's getting picked up. Then you hope that it's gonna get picked up for another season.
Starting point is 01:00:37 Multiple seasons, yeah. Again, I'm like, it's getting, I'm telling you, don't worry about it. This is getting picked up. You're on a one-year contract every year. I was going to say, every season, it's just like. We have deals. And I knew it was going to keep going, because it was just a brilliant show.
Starting point is 01:00:50 It was a great idea. The chemistry was there. I knew we were going to run the course. But it is like, think of it like an athlete, like a football contract. None of it's get. We have five-year deals. None of it's guaranteed.
Starting point is 01:01:01 At any point, they could say, no, we're going to go a different direction. That's over. They don't pay us out for the five years or whatever our deal is are still working like you're you're doing You're still doing movies other stuff between but I mean, you know It does take a lot of time to make the show and then you know You break and you take a little downtime and and getting a movie, sometimes you get offers, sometimes you gotta chase it for a while. There's a window. There's a window, you have a very specific window
Starting point is 01:01:30 when you can go do other stuff and you can't just go off and be like, I'm gonna go do this movie for six months. It's like, well, because you're gonna start shooting Entourage again. But you kinda wanna take the time off to. Right, right, because you just finished. It's a bit of a grind when you do it.
Starting point is 01:01:42 Those days are TV show. I mean, I've dabbled, but it's like 14 hour days. Oh, you definitely dabbled. The later we got on. But I'm just like, dude. The days would get shorter. But in the beginning, it was. There's so much downtime, too.
Starting point is 01:01:54 It's like you just. You know, it's like where you go crazy. That's where you have to keep. That's the hard part. We're going to do something in a few minutes. We do a throwback three on the show or just like kind of a list. It's not no pressure. We're gonna do our we're gonna and again, throw out what you got. We're gonna do our throwback three of our favorite athlete cameos specific athletes
Starting point is 01:02:20 because I think it's and by the way, man, think about now it's probably because you were a college kid. You would have been a perfect cameo, right? But you couldn't do it because you can't- I was gonna say I wasn't allowed to do it. You're not allowed to do it because there was no NIL back then. Did I tell you the Judging Amy thing? You were on Judging Amy.
Starting point is 01:02:33 Good show. My first ever acting extra was on Judging Amy. Oh, you were just an extra. I was an extra because she was- You probably couldn't get paid either, right? The director was a USC alum or whatever. I think it was right after I graduated, so I was allowed to do it. I think I might've got paid 100 bucks or whatever, but I was like, this is, and I had a
Starting point is 01:02:47 pantomime and she was like, what the fuck is pantomime? I felt so uncomfortable. I was like, talking like this. Like I was talking in the background. I think that's what they call, pantomime. Yeah. So really like a fish out of water. I was like, what? In thinking, once seeing that Dylan still has his Johnny drama fastball and cracking me up on sound like I know everyone always talks about reboot. It's been 20 years. And then I tried to think of just
Starting point is 01:03:12 some fun. All right. If we ever were going to do a reboot, what on earth are these characters doing today? Right. Yeah, I'm going to pitch you a couple of things. By the way, I thought about this for five minutes. And Doug, if you're watching, I'm not trying to write any. I know you could couple of things. By the way, I thought about this for five minutes.
Starting point is 01:03:25 And Doug, if you're watching, I'm not trying to write any. I know you're going to probably say, leave it to the writers. You're right. Leave it to the writers. Agreed. But we're just going to have some fun. Dylan, I'm going to start with you. When last we left Johnny Drama, he wins a Golden Globe Award.
Starting point is 01:03:38 And we love Johnny Drama, but we also love him when he's fighting. When he's like, he, I like a struggling underdog I don't want to see him on top of the world. I think somehow He's struggling to get a job again. He's let me pitch it down and out a little bit Do you think maybe Johnny drama is on a show again? Like maybe he's on the net full whatever he's on a show out of network And they are gonna for the first time say, you know what? We actually think we could do his part with AI. Jeez.
Starting point is 01:04:05 We're going to replace him. Johnny John will face an AI crisis. We're going to replace him. I love it. You're in an AI crisis. Johnny John was fighting the first AI acting crisis. I think it'd be great for you. By the way, I'd have to go to my SAG rep and see,
Starting point is 01:04:19 what the hell's going on here? Dylan loves his SAG rep. We could write that scene into SAG. That's a great idea? Dylan loves his Sagrath. We can write that scene in Sagrath. He said it's a great idea. Sag insurance, not bad. I feel like for Turtle, when last we left Turtle. You were loaded. 100 million or more.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Yes, you were. We haven't put an actual night. Say he was worth 100 million. My pitch would be, because I also love Turtle when he's down, he for sure got finagled in a crypto scheme. Yeah, you're a big, no, not Bitcoin because Bitcoin would have worked out. He bought an NFT board. He bought a board eight for 18 million. And now he's just flat. Lost it all back living with Vince for sure. We're all
Starting point is 01:05:02 desperado again. Exactly. He's gone through a divorce with Sloan. She's kicked him out of the house. The only thing I figured for E is I feel like you and Sloan, you have a baby in the movie. So I think you have five more kids. A lot of kids. Irish twins, a whole bunch. You have five kids.
Starting point is 01:05:17 Running unscripted at Bravo. So like did E create Love is Blind or something? Created Love is Blind. You're a reality guy now. Just like, no, unscripted. Unscripted. Big difference, running the unscripted department. So what about Vince?
Starting point is 01:05:35 This to me is the hardest one, right? Because he's still gotta do well. The Vince character. Or we got nowhere to go. He's an angelic starling. It was always the engine of like, all right, here's the business story that we're gonna then do something.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Me and Dylan will go do side quests, I used to call them. Yeah, yeah. Be storyline. I don't know because like, and I'm open to pitches, movies, not many people are going to the movies anymore. Is he, do they bring him back for Aquaman 3?
Starting point is 01:06:01 He is a Netflix darling. He's a Netflix darling. He's on Netflix? You can find him in the trending in the top 10 once every song's movie is floating around the eight or nine spot. Or maybe he's back in Mexico. He's moved back to Mexico.
Starting point is 01:06:12 No, he's a Netflix darling, bro, yeah. Do they try to lure him or Netflix? They offer Johnny Drama a part, but he's gotta have his brother in there. So we gotta go to Mexico to get Vince back. Vince is on a multi-picture Netflix thing. Is there a world where this, like you guys could, his brother in there. So we got to go to Mexico to get Vince back. Vince is on a multi-picture Netflix show. Is there a world where this, like, you guys could,
Starting point is 01:06:27 like a reboot or like you could redo this whole thing? Is that, I mean, so much time has passed, but could that be like a hunt for you? So reboots to me are always like- You guys get together and like, dude, let's try to pitch something to Netflix. I really saw it. It doesn't work that way.
Starting point is 01:06:40 We would all do it. It's not that easy, right? As a matter of fact, everyone will do it. It's just the money people behind it. It's not as easy. It's writers and HBO and- It's an important part do it. It's not that easy, right? As a matter of fact, everyone will do it. It's just the money people behind it. It's not as easy. It's writers and HBO. Yeah, there's a lot. It's an existing property and it's existing IP.
Starting point is 01:06:52 You don't just get to decide, hey, let's run it back. There's a lot of people who don't want to have to decide to do it as well. Sure, they cast a loss, like, hey, let's keep it going again, let's do another season. Whatever, I mean, like, any show would want that. I never say, anytime I always say, like, I actually didn't think the movie was gonna happen.
Starting point is 01:07:06 Anytime I ever say never, it actually didn't happen. Movie, you have more control, right, or no? Yes and no, and I always thought that, the movie always felt like a big episode, right, for the fans, so I think going back and doing it as a series again would be the move. Yes, definitely. I mean, it would be a great, you know, a great call to get, but I think we, we need to have like, uh, cause you say reboot, obviously you gotta like Cobra Kai.
Starting point is 01:07:34 They can reboot it without us as well. Right. Cobra Kai did a good job of like, it's Daniel LaRusso's kids, but Daniel LaRusso's still on, they're still in it. They're just now the Ryan you know. Ryan Murphy. You guys like getting Ryan Murphy. Nine kids is a, you know, maybe we have to bring, or a Chase cousin you didn't know you had is now, I wanna be an actor too, Uncle Johnny. You know? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:57 I don't know. You gotta crack that and. Well, that's the other thing too, it would be, and one thing I think everybody is on the same page is that you wouldn't just, you know, you want it to be good. You'd have to be... Because your initial thought would be like an eye roller.
Starting point is 01:08:11 So you'd have to like blow that out of the water and have it be awesome, which would require, you know, something extreme, I guess. Yeah. But you guys still got it. You still got it. No doubt. No doubt, brother. No doubt.
Starting point is 01:08:23 I thought... But even me, when we were shooting that spot for Cash App, I'm like, I haven't done this with this character in a minute. I've changed so much. I didn't have kids. It felt great, didn't it, Jay? I didn't have kids back then. I was gonna say, how'd it feel, Jay?
Starting point is 01:08:34 Not that I was nervous. We do the rehearsal. Once we figured out, all right, Dylan's gonna come here, you're gonna go, this is what we're, after the first take, and especially with him, we just, because we did so many side quest storylines together. I'm like, Oh, we could, you know, I never really thought about that actual part of it.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Like the character part. Like, yeah, all righty. It's, I don't know, man. It's not just show up and do it. Of course you could do it, but I mean, yeah, it would be weird. You got to do a lot. I got to get you, I got to call Ari stuff going again. Oh, that's what I was going to say. One of the things I meant to, I meant to mention. Do you remember, do you remember when, um, you know, every year we would like, we'd be shooting, it would be, we were a summer show every year. Yeah. So we had to be ready to go in the summer, but we'd be shooting in like March or April. Do you remember when they would bring in the new phones and they'd have like, you know, all of a sudden it's like a skinny version of the first Blackberry next to the razor
Starting point is 01:09:24 coming. The guy would basically like that razor. And then after skinny version of the like, anytime there was a phone. The next to razor. They were coming, the guy would basically like stand there. Everyone wanted that razor. And then after the take, after the take, he'd be like, all right, hand it over. We have to give back. Yeah, they would bring on. Of course, Piven destroyed all his props. He used to throw them.
Starting point is 01:09:36 It was unscripted and he would like smash his phone against the wall. He would throw them off the cliff. It was the only one we had. He probably went through a lot. Remember when Piven pulled the hamstring in the desert? Oh. Came up laying, David lying around the corner.
Starting point is 01:09:50 Ah! You get upset with me that I pulled my quad playing football. We're shooting in the dead. We're out in the middle of nowhere. It's freezing cold at night, 112 during the day. And Piven already has to come running around the corner. He's on mushrooms. He's with the dog.
Starting point is 01:10:05 And you see it. He just reached for the hamstring right away. Came around that corner. He pulled up lame. Oh, what am I going to do now? But he stayed in character. He tried. Oh, no, not that day. He was hurt. Cut. Yeah, he hurt.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Man, yeah, by the way, he pulled it. He pulled. I guess you could say one thing about the entrees, guys. We are injury. Oh, we the way, he pulled it. He pulled it. I guess you could say one thing about the entourage, guys. We are injury. Oh, we played through. We played. We're tough. We played through. Did you ever get hurt?
Starting point is 01:10:31 No, I got sick a lot. That was my thing. Jerry was always sick. We battled a lot of illnesses. You were sick. You had a flu when we were in that pool scene. You look at Jerry. You were really in bad shape.
Starting point is 01:10:41 When we shot the pilot episode, we have to get in this indoor outdoor pool in the mansion, which they didn't think the heat days before. And it was Jan. It was November in L.A. So it's not freezing, but we're shooting at midnight. The pool is freezing. I have either a stomach virus or the flu. I'm green. I'm throwing up in between. They had to make out and that's the girl.
Starting point is 01:11:00 This poor girl that you had to make out with. Girl, I'm literally just going, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. As he said. I'm so sorry. I'm shivering like this. In between takes, they're wrapping me with towels. They're giving me IVs. I just keep going to the girl.
Starting point is 01:11:12 He was wrapping a heated blanket between takes. I think her name was Courtney. I'm so sorry. I hope you don't get sick. And I was sick a lot, but we battled through. The other thing too is the eight seasons is over ten years I mean at a certain point we saw like a lot of each other with her You know at a certain point everybody was sick and our certain point everybody was hurt
Starting point is 01:11:33 Certain point everybody was going through a breakup at a certain point everybody was going through like I got to watch I went through a few on the show. Let me tell you first thing. I'm like just come on and sleep over Jerry Let's go out. I was manned down for a bit Connelly definitely helped rebuild My confidence and all I want to say is if you go with it, this is the guy you want out there This is the guy you go to if you get a little heartbreak So you're dealing with real heartbreak you're coming Come up to the house hang with me for a little bit. We're not gonna do nothing the first night.
Starting point is 01:12:06 Second night, we're gonna watch a movie. We'll watch a movie, order a pizza. Second night, we'll go get dinner. We'll have a drink. You want a Pula Hammy. But by the third night, we're going out. And you're just gonna do what I say. I'm pitching that reality show.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Man camp. Man camp. Yeah, you gotta get, and it worked. What a great fucking wingman That's cool. Yeah, and yeah the next dude that the girl date Connelly will put spells on them if you want I don't do all that. I mean, I hear you wonder what yeah All right, we're gonna do this guy being a world champion if I'm being honest I'm sure I want this guy being a world champion if I'm being honest. Jerry?
Starting point is 01:12:44 Jerry, yeah. It's a girl, dude started dating one of Jerry's exes. He was like, I don't need this guy winning the ring right now. Is that bad that I didn't want the next person after me to win a ring? Is that terrible? I got no rings. You got no rings. Not right now.
Starting point is 01:13:02 It's way too soon for a ring. It was right after too. Yes. All right, so we're way too soon for a ring. It was right after too. Yes. All right. So we're going to do our throwback three. We're going to talk our favorite athlete cameos because for whatever reason, you professional athletes loved Entourage.
Starting point is 01:13:12 So good. And we had a lot over the years. And again, there's no wrong answers. Just throw out one. So throwback three, we're going to do our favorite Entourage athlete cameos. OK. Dylan, you want to lead us off?
Starting point is 01:13:23 You got it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got three. Let's hear it. Of course, I got to say Tom Brady. Tom Brady. Because Tom was awesome. Really going out on a limb there. I mean, he's number one. Yes. Everyone loved him. He signed every, every time whatever you want. Took a picture. He was great with the crew. The crew loved him. Yeah. And of course, I break his club in the scene and all that. But during our lunch break, you know, I already hit like 200 golf balls on the range for doing the shop. But he was like, Hey, Dylan, you want to go hit some golf balls?
Starting point is 01:13:51 I'm like, yeah, I can't say no to that. No to top rating. Didn't get about 12 holes and you know, he had a great swing. He was hitting it good. He was hitting the ball really well. Yeah. He was coming off the torn knee too. So no one had seen him.
Starting point is 01:14:06 He hadn't played football in a year. Great dude, great dude. So I'm gonna say number one there. Number two, I'm gonna go with Phil Mickelson, who I actually got that cameo. I ran into him in a golf course at San Diego called the Bridges. I was with you there.
Starting point is 01:14:20 I watched this happen. Yeah, that's right. You were there. I watched this happen in front of my eyes. So I was going out, for some reason I was going out towards my car and I saw Phil carrying his own bag and he saw me kind of spot him and he put his head down low like I don't want to be recognized. He didn't know he was.
Starting point is 01:14:36 Not right away. So he's just like, I don't want to be recognized by this guy. This guy noticed. He's like, this guy's a real creep. I can't let him. Keep my head down. I was like, no, no, hey, Phil. Phil, I just got gotta say what's up.
Starting point is 01:14:46 Then he recognized he goes, oh my God, Johnny Drama. So he was a fan of the show. I was like, yeah. I go, you know my dad, my dad painted you. My dad's a poor. Oh, that's a good story. My dad, but my dad had painted him. He goes, oh, I love Paul.
Starting point is 01:15:01 He was the best. And he told me a story about my dad that I had never heard before, how he painted Phil with a right-handed club. As a righty. They just grabbed a club and they took a picture together and my dad painted that. He painted that. And then when my dad saw the picture, he goes,
Starting point is 01:15:18 my God, Phil, I painted you with the right-handed club. I'll fix it. I'll just paint a left-handed club. And he goes, no, no, Paul, I like it just like that. Don't change it. So he was great. And then me and Jerry ended up having lunch with him. I asked him if he would want to do the show. You were a hack. I said, spend some time at the driving range and we'll see if we can fit you in next time. So he said, yeah, I'd love to do a cameo. We called Doug Allen right there on the spot.
Starting point is 01:15:48 Said, hey, Doug, say hi to Phil Mickelson. That's it. And then Doug figured out a way to get him on the show, which was a brilliant way. There's a tiny piece that we're leaving out. We had a line on the show the year before where we kind of throw him under the bus. Ari has a line where he goes, the guy's melting down,
Starting point is 01:16:04 like Phil Mickelson at Wingfoot. By the way, that was the next episode. So it hadn't aired yet. He just said, yes, I'll do the show. And then we crushed it. That aired that week. Yeah. But he still did it. Well, he said, he said, you know, I'm just laying in bed with my wife watching my favorite show on a Sunday and all of a sudden, I'm hit with a right hand. He's like, I'm about to finish the show. These guys are great. That's a good one, Dylan.
Starting point is 01:16:30 Thank God he's got a great sense of humor. And he was awesome in the show. He was awesome in the show. And then I would say number three, I'm going to go with Drew Brees. Drew Brees. I actually, I never came in on my days off for cameos. But I was on my way out and I went into the makeup trailer to take my makeup off and I run to Drew Brees.
Starting point is 01:16:48 Couldn't be a nicer guy. He's the coolest, nicest guy. I don't remember him on. He did something with one of you guys. So my character, when I was trying to raise money for tequila, I'm calling all these athletes. I don't know how Turtle always knew all these athletes. But I call Drew and we did his side of the call.
Starting point is 01:17:05 But we did it all. He was like in the other room when we did it. And he was just really cool. He was cool, dude. Met him in the trailer. He had just won the Super Bowl. New Orleans just got hit by that horrible hurricane. So it was just like, what a great guy.
Starting point is 01:17:18 So he was number three for me. That's Matt's most accurate quarterback. We do like this thing, build your perfect quarterback. And it's like arm strength, accuracy. He's great, man. Who's arm strength would you go with? What'd you do? You did?
Starting point is 01:17:31 Current? Yeah. Current, I'd go Josh Allen. Josh Allen, Current. I think former, we did a lot of far, Elway. I think I did Elway was mine for former. How about scramble abilities? I went Michael Vick, like athleticism.
Starting point is 01:17:44 A lot of people go Lamar. Who's yours? Maybe Josh Allen, man. I just like the way he hits hard. He'll dive over you. All right, Connelly, you throw back three. I have a different, I'm going with a different, just because you're a little traditional.
Starting point is 01:17:58 You know what I mean? So I'm gonna go try to mix up a little bit. The first one was Michael Phelps one, because- That was cool. We were shooting in New York. It was the last day of the season. Yes. It was like, it was the last day of the season.
Starting point is 01:18:09 We were wrapping up, last shot. And we're like shooting live and like in the, in the, you know, the crosswalk on the middle of Manhattan. In the middle of Manhattan and somebody spots him walking. He's going through the NBC building. He was doing interviews cause he just got back from the Olympics. He was going through, he just, I mean, it was like days after he won all those medals.
Starting point is 01:18:27 Nobody called him, they ran into him and said, hey, will you do a cameo right now? Somebody grabbed him and it's like they set him up on the one side of the street and I was set up on the other and also, it's like big dude, right? So it's like, and I got to bump him out. It was like staying alive when Travolta and Stallone kind of bump into each other. I had to bump into him, you know? And I figured, I'm like, you know, he probably hasn't done this, I've got to, you know, I've got to lead this one to him.
Starting point is 01:18:50 So it was like a little challenging. And it was, I mean, honestly, like people were looking at him in the street and he was like, it was a different kind of a wow factor right after that. It's a good one. Yeah. And then I thought an underrated acting performance was Steve Nash. That's right. He's a good one. Yeah, and then I thought an underrated acting performance with Steve Nash. That's right.
Starting point is 01:19:07 He was- Quick one. Yeah, Nash did a good job. Did not seem like it was his first rodeo. Acting. I thought he was pretty good. You liked his performance. I enjoyed his performance
Starting point is 01:19:17 because I think they pretty much just dropped it on him. Yeah. I don't think that was like a big setup thing. It was like, he was there. I mean, they pulled him out of the third row. They pulled him out of the bleachers and said, get in the game, put a mic on him and said, get in the game. And we kind of ran through the scene.
Starting point is 01:19:32 So I was impressed with him. That's a good one. And then, you know, I liked, you know, the Tyson thing was always. Oh, that's right. Tyson was on. How do I forget? That was cool. Yeah, that was fun.
Starting point is 01:19:44 How do I forget about that? Yes. I mean, there was so many, there was on. How do I forget? Oh, that was cool, yeah. That was fun. How do I forget about Tyson? Yes. I mean, there was so many, there was so many of those. And of course, you know, Gronk, you know, was amazing. Ooh, the Gronk, we worked at it late night. Gronk and the movie. This was during the movie. We worked until like three o'clock, two o'clock in the morning.
Starting point is 01:19:57 And there was like, they called second meal or third meal, whatever. And it was just really soup. It was like a chunky soup. He was feeding people. I think he just like hung out. He was, you it was just really soup. It was like a chunky soup. He was feeding people. He was, you know, feeding your bowl. You come up with your bowl and Gronk was just a great guy.
Starting point is 01:20:10 He was like a little kid, man. He was talking to a great guy. Awesome, dude. What a great dude. The day I broke my leg later, and the day, remember, Jerry, I had to do this scene where you and Ron walk in on me and the girl? So, Connelly breaks his leg and has a love scene later,
Starting point is 01:20:22 right, and me and Ron the rouser walk in on him. Like, my pants would be down around my ankles. I'm like, it hurt to have my pants around me. What did Gronk say? So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so not the one breaking this team, but we don't really do that, you know? That's actually called filming. Yeah, exactly. Oh, no, we're not really having sex. He was worried about your performance in the bedroom
Starting point is 01:20:51 if you take the shot. That's typical Grog. Wow, that was so funny. But even Rhonda was a great one, too. So Rhonda makes the list for me. Right, because also Rhonda was around. You had your three. Let's hear you have the Rhonda one.
Starting point is 01:21:04 I go with Rhonda. And what was crazy too is then I got to meet her before we shot and then we film. But then she goes on the fight and I never really got to know a fighter personally on that level. And I can't even imagine what it's like for fighters families because I'm like watching her fight on pay per view at home. I'm nervous and I only know her for like a year. Right. So Rhonda for me for sure. I think a good sneaky one. A long cameo. Yes. Because we really got to spend time on her.
Starting point is 01:21:28 It's barely a cameo. She had like a part. She was a little girl. But a sneaky one that I didn't even really work with him that much, but I've now become friendly with him. But you, Kevin Love, no one even knows he was in. Oh, he's great. When Vince gets beat up by Eminem, words I never thought I'd say, Johnny Drama, we know who has that one shot. Johnny drama could put you on your ass and one shop, but Kevin love grabs him in a bear
Starting point is 01:21:50 hug and what'd you really like? Yo, that's one of the strongest dude. Yeah, I mean, take it easy. This is like not skinny. Kevin love. He got my, just my red cage. Such a big that, and he started squeezing as hard as he could. Pretty little red. And I was like, I was afraid he was gonna collapse my ribs. I mean, he's a big strong guy and I had to say, hey dude, go a little easy. Chill, man. I'm afraid you're gonna break my, totally collapse my rib cage. I'm sorry, dude, I get carried away.
Starting point is 01:22:19 He's a really cool guy. He was also in the scene where I confront Scott Conn about- Yes, he has so many weird, like, K-Loves is just in there. Good dude. And the last one, not to be more obvious, but you gotta tip the cap to LeBron. Oh, no doubt. That was when I came to set for a cameo. I never really did it much either.
Starting point is 01:22:40 I came from Mickelson and I came from LeBron. And I remember too, it was right after on PTI, remember, you know, pardon the interruption, something came, they were talking about LeBron and Maverick and his crew and they did something in the news or, and Kornheiser goes, Wilbon, it is exactly what Vince and E would do. LeBron and Mav. And he comes on the show the next week and it was, that a bananas day was LeBron, Matt, Damon. I also remember like because you know people say that like oh you want to come and set them like let me tell you something you're going to last about six minutes.
Starting point is 01:23:12 Right. Okay. Because you're going to be bored senseless. Move too slow and you're going to want to leave. I would have friends that say well I'll be extras. I'm like yo you want to you don't want to be an extra. Because you're stuck in that shot. Because once they fire that first shot on you're in.
Starting point is 01:23:24 You're in. Yeah. Wow. So that's a throwback three right there. That's it. Good job. Fellas. That's it. Podcast is over.
Starting point is 01:23:32 Shout out. It's over. All right. That was it. The boys, the boys were back. We got to get Grenier next. We got to get Grenier. It won't be a heavy sports conversation.
Starting point is 01:23:41 See according to you, that might be a tough one to get on. He's not in LA. No one knows where he is. Yeah, yeah. He's, he could be pretty remote for a lack of a word, but we'll get him on. Who knows? Maybe we'll even get, we'll get Emmanuel. We'll get Emmanuel on. Who knows? Yeah, let's do it, man.
Starting point is 01:23:57 That was fun. And again, if you want, go to our YouTube or on any of our social media at throwbacks. Matt's audition with Connelly and Dylan basically directing him for draft day is on there. And our three point shootout, the score was settled. Unfortunately for one of us is up there right now. Thanks to the boys and listen to Victory if you can give those boys a download too. I'll be jumping on there soon and we'll be back next week. Right, Matt?
Starting point is 01:24:22 Yes, sir. Go USA. Go USA. Let's go. I wore red, white and blue today. It says. Let's go. We out.
