90s episode is up. The 2000s is up. Today, we're going to dive into the 2010s, Matt. And first blush reaction to some 2010s research. great, great decade, but not nearly as cool. We grew up in the best decades, dude. The 90s and early 2000s. Yeah, the 2010s, it's just like, yeah, it was just a different era.

Like we, you know, we were, you know, obviously we got married. Yeah, we both got married in this decade. Both got married. You're just, it was just a different phase. But then also like, yeah, just kind of, I don't know, it's honestly, it's because we're older. And also social media, like, I think what we enjoyed so much, about the 90s and 2000s was the pre-social media

nostalgia that we had. A nostalgia of those decades. But we're about to enter into the social media age when we do this episode. So today is going to be all about the 2010s. Few reactions from last week's 2000s episode.

Annie P. went right at you, Matt, and said, umbrella is so annoying. Definitely catchy. But my least favorite song of the 2000s, SOS is better. Pro down south said 50 cent.

in the club in R. Kelly Ignition dominated spring break 03 and beyond. Very, very true. It's a great song. Pop-Tart talks about the video game Fight Night, which we did an episode of on Entourage. Fight Night was a great, great, great game. Great game, but not old-timer to me. And Amir said, y'all got to throw up Prime, Tony Sopranos' daughter. I'm not going to do that.

It kind of dated her in real life, so I felt like it would be weird if I put her up there as my crush. But you feel free to. That's the great thing about these episodes. in this exercise. This is not what the best unanimously is. This is our personal favorites. So coming up, we're going to do the 2010s. But before that, Matt, we're going to do our NHTSA speed segment.

And this moment is presented by NHTSA. Speeding catches up with you, paid for by NHTSA. I have a little story for you, Matt. And I think you're going to find this weird. Well, when I moved here to Ohio, okay, obviously I'm a fish out of water, strange environment for me. I never lived in a suburban area before. I've been L.A. New York.

I'm driving around doing the speed limit with my wife everywhere. And I would notice people are like on the other lane coming would be flashing their lights at me and brighting me. And I never understood why. I was like, wow. And I would kind of get mad, like not road rage, but I would get a little like, why are these people flashing me? And it kept becoming like a recurring thing. And finally, Bree is like, that's what we do here to alert you if there's a lot. like a cop up ahead in case if you are speeding,

you should be slowing down. So I heard that and I said, I'm all in on that. I want to get into the party. So now if I do pass a cop while doing the speed limit, I just immediately start flashing everybody coming the other way and warn them. So I'm driving along the other day

and going up the same street and I pass a cop. I'm doing the speed limit. I'm fine. And everyone else was, but I start flashing people. And then I get a text like an hour later, hey, was that you flashing their brights? Totally saved me of getting a ticket. It was one of my friends,

so I didn't even recognize her car. But I warned her, she's maybe going eight miles over and slowed down. And she said I 100% saved her from a ticket. So I now officially am in on the brighting people. I thought people were like brighting me because I was like,

my trunk open, do I have a flat tire? Why are these people flashing their high beams at me? They're warning me that's a cop of the head. But either way, do the speed limit. And you don't even have to worry about writing people in Ohio. Good people in Ohio. Good people.

They got your back, dude. They don't do that in L.A. No. They don't do that in New York. Definitely not New York. Definitely not New York. So there we go. And without further ado, I say, bring on the 2010s.

All right, Maddie, the 2010s. We were just talking off air, like, and we love this exercise, but also like 2000s for us, of course, was such a great time. And the 2010s was a great time, too. marriage, kids, a lot of different. We grew up. It's our coming of age

decade. Yes. Very well said. We go to boys to men. So we are going to start as we always do with the team of the 2010s.

Team as the first category. Yeah, I mean, I went New England Patriots. Mm-hmm. I never was like a Patriots fan. I'm a huge Brady fan. But if you look at kind of what they did, nine division titles

out of 10. Brady won three MVPs. They had three titles, six Super Bowl appearances. And the reason why I put them over maybe an NBA team or someone else is just, I think football is the hardest championship to win. And it's the hardest to like sustain greatness for what New England did for 15 years. Kansas City, we saw a little bit about we're already seeing Kansas City go down a little bit. So my team of that decade will be the New England Patriots with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Can't argue with that. I went with the Warriors. Maybe it's just because I lean a little more basketball, just in terms of my fandom, but also, you know, obviously Tom Brady with football, but what Steph Curry also did for basketball. But it made me realize something, Matt, with both New England

and the Golden State Warriors, the dynasty eras. have ended in 2018, 19, because now the NBA mirrors the NFL with parity, what they did with the second apron stuff, and the NFL really likes having, like, the Seattle Seahawks come out of nowhere, not out of nowhere, but no one was really picking them to win the Super Bowl

before the year started. And I think that's the lane business-wise that is probably best for both leagues. So I love just going at the great teams. Like LeBron every year trying to beat the Warriors, and they did it once and what will be a night that's an iconic series

but same thing with the Pats you know watching the few losses that the Pats had and the Warriors had in the final I think that was always that's the sports I like

so I went with the other sort of dynasty of the 20 times with the Warriors out of the top two teams of that decade yes let's go

athlete well I stuck with that I went with Steph Curry you too I did too I just think that Tom Brady, obviously, you could have picked him. You could have picked him just for beating that Warriors team.

But the only thing I almost knocked Steph Curry for was the recruitment of Kevin Durant after the Cavs beat him. And then they go out and get arguably the best score, second score in the history of the NBA. But again, changed basketball. And the basketball we watch now today is 100% because of Steph Curry. He's the greatest shooter. He's probably a top 10 player of all time. I think we could say that. Arguably the greatest point guard of all time, him and probably magic.

You could argue that. But he changed very few players in basketball have had the impact that he has had on the actual game. And we know it's the three-point shot and the way he plays. And the game is now played that way solely because of Steph Curry. Caitlin Clark has a little bit of that in the WMBA, right? obviously we're still yet to be determined on the career and all that. But like the impact that Steph Curry's had and then also just the success as you name, you know, won multiple championships, had a unanimous MVP.

His impact on basketball will last a lifetime. So yeah, I mean, dude, athlete of the decade. He could be MVP. He could be a lot of things. But one of the greatest players ever do it in the greatest shooter for sure. Yeah, the, you know, KD coming to the Warriors, like I said, you know, you could have maybe dinged Steph for that, but isn't it crazy too? I don't, dude. I mean.

That, you know, LeBron beats the Warriors with Cleveland. And he, would you have ever said back in like 2015, 16, 17 when they were battling, hey, 10 years from now, we're going to still be waiting to see where LeBron James is going to end up playing. And it might be Cleveland. It might be Cleveland. It might be Cleveland. It could be Golden State. I don't know.

Golden State, Philly, I know is in the mix. Miami. Yeah. But still, like, we're still. like we're still waiting here to figure out where LeBron James is going to play basketball next year. Not what I thought was going to happen in 2026. Okay. We're going to move on to the music categories.

This gets hard. We're going to go with musician or band artist first. So in the last couple decades, I've made it really, really more of just personal, right? This is my favorite. I think I blink 182 up there, some songs. This is a hybrid of just someone who, who just was dominant and you just give them their flowers and a hybrid of like the music and like the impact and I went with Drake for the decade.

I mean, he was closed the decade, the most streamed artists on Spotify globally. And, you know, he had obviously his beef with Kendrick in last couple years and all that. But if you look at the commercial success he had from 2010 to 2020, I'm not sure anyone dominated more than him. I mean, you could throw a Taylor Swift in there and all that. But I would go with Drake. I love his music. Cole loves his music.

And he's, I mean, he's arguably on the Mount Rushmore of rappers, you know. So got to give Drake his due. Yeah. And when looking at the decade on a personal level, you know, we ended our 2000s. You and I go into 2010. Probably still single for the first few years. I'm curious of where you're going with this. Well, I just, I do remember like, as far as Drake, like I said, my going out run, whatever

little run I had. Like, it started to filter out by like 2013, 24, but Drake very much was like everywhere you went, every bar, club, whatever. That's the song that got everybody dancing. So I went with the other half of the rivalry. I think

in terms from me, and being in L.A. during this time, and the way Kendrick Lamar came on the scene, and especially with all right, like the song, like, I just feel like, I love when people just explode into main stream, you know, like overnight success, but really he's been here the whole time.

He's not actually an overnight success. So for me, he was Kenji. I tried really hard, Matt, to like, all right, let's go outside of hip hop because you and I are such hip, like, we love especially East Coast, West Coast 2000s hip hop. I looked, I was looking at the song list. I didn't really, I didn't really nothing. Well, like, some of the greatest songs were like, like, blinding, is a blinding lights by weekend, which is, I think it's the number one song of all time, like on Spotify.

Didn't do it for me. Didn't do it for me. A couple of Justin Bieber hits in there. Didn't do it. Obviously, Taylor Swift and we bow down, of course, like, sure, but didn't do it for me. Yeah. I do have a great song. We're going to go to song.

All right. Let's go. Song or video or whatever, but song, let's go. Song. This is, you're going to fucking make fun of me on this one, dude. But this is an OG song that I still will rock. Cut. With a group of friends.

it is one song that if it comes on in the bar and again my bar days are probably day drinking at the bar right you're a happy hour guy yeah I'll get out every once in a while for sure but like Miley Cyrus party in the USA which is 0910 so it's on the borderline

I'll give it to you it's a separate but I think because I read this I'm like oh my god that it kind of came out in the fall of 09 but it had its success it's heighten the 10 It's right there. So, yeah, dude. Personal, I don't know if it's the greatest song that decade. Probably not.

But for me, it's sort of an anthem of just like, I don't know, anytime it comes on, I'm always like, oh, fuck, that's a great song. My kids love partying the U.S. My kids love it too. And we call James Jamesy, right? So when that part of Jay-Z song is on, it's like James goes, why is she saying a James'y song is on? Like, well, it's Jay-Z. And then it's who's Jay-Z?

Great, you know what? Great call. Yeah. Throwback. and all. Yeah. I mean, I even flirted with that.

Like, I remember, like, it wasn't my, it's not my song of the 2010s, but like, the song I probably heard the most

everywhere I went, whether it was like an elevator or call me maybe, Carly, right, that song was everywhere. It's not my favorite. It's not my winner. And I almost went Alabama shakes with hold on,

but that I went a little more mainstream because I still rocked the song again. And I don't love that you were throwing Kanye right back up in here in another week. Runaway. by Kanye is just the song when I'm pissed at people

and I need to just feel like F everybody, me against the world I put on runaway I'm sorry I didn't want to do it but run away Have you had a lot

of negative moments of the 2010? You know what though Matt like I'm the guy that just come on does not not make you think you against everybody else I'll play this on the piano

but also you know who I am at I'm the guy who if eight teams pass on me, I put those eight teams on a full piece of paper inside my helmet. That's 100% who I am and runaway to me fits that. I love it, dude. I love it. It's a good song.

This one, television show. Should we go tell a television show? You don't even have to dive deep. There's two. This is where we're different, though. There's two, there's two to me. There's two clear shows of the 2010.

Yeah, you're going to go one and I'm going to go because we have different interests. Go ahead. Throw your... Game of Thrones is the number one show, in my opinion, of all time. I know the ending is a little suspect. I know people were pissed at at, but I don't care. I think it was eight seasons of just true ballast for me, dude. And I watched, by the way, I watched four or five seasons. I remember, I'll never forget, when I was in Oakland in 2012, I was starting to binge it because I hadn't met Josie then. So I watched half of it. I stopped watching it for whatever reason.

We get together. Her and I watch it somewhere in the mid-2010, somewhere when we start living together. And I rewatch all the seasons and finish it with her. And even she was like, holy shit, that's one of the best shows of all time. So I'm not going to dive that deep. I know where you're going with the other one.

I never got into it. I've watched maybe one episode of the show that I think you're going to say. I just never got into it. So as far as Game of Thrones, and that's on there for me. and I easily could have picked it. Major crush on Calisi too, by the way. Yeah, but also one of the great, to me,

and I've always been even told this, the pilot episode of any show is usually one of the best or worst episodes, though, because the pilot, like, you don't know who anyone is, you're really kind of learning. I've had a lot of smart showrunners tell me, like, the first episode, you're kind of teaching people how to watch the show,

and then the second episode is like you're real first, because everyone's acquainted with each other. Game of Thrones, episode is just... I mean, there's... Perfect. But I went a different direction. I went with Breaking Bad.

Yeah, I knew. And you should... And again, I know you're going to be on the road... I just never got into it. You're going to be on the road a lot soon. You need to load that up on your iPad for all your flights when you're traveling with Big Noon. Because I can't think of a better show to watch on an airplane.

If you want this flight to go by quick, because one episode bleeds into the other so perfectly. You need to watch... I was late to Breaking Bad. I didn't watch from the... beginning. I came in late. But what I also remember is that they started having watch parties for Breaking Bad at Hollywood Forever, the cemetery where they actually show movies. It's actually a cemetery where you could go watch screenings of movies and stuff. And in the end of the Breaking Bad run,

I think in the final season or second to last, they were airing episodes at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. And it was just... I can't. I understand it. I respect it. I watched... I remember I watched four or five episodes and I'm like, it's so slow. It was so slow for me. And I remember, I think back in the day, people were like, you got to get through season one because it gets better and better. I couldn't agree more. I just also like, I'm one of those where like I can't watch a show that happened 15 years ago.

I'm just over it. I'd rather watch all the new shows that come in. I forget where you are. Did you watch Sopranos or no? I never got into Sopranos either. Please, Matt. Please, I beg you, if you take anything from me as a friend, you know, anything. It's like if you told me like, dude, you got to like check out this team or this.

If you take anything from me as an actor and a friend, just stick with. By the way, hit a little 30 second fast forward if you're bored by a part. Get like get to the good stuff, okay? And Cole just asked, Jerry, was it weird seeing Bob Odenkirk become a big character on Breaking Bad? You know what? It was because that's around the time I started really like diving into Breaking Bad and I was obsessed with it. And then Bob Oden Kirk, who plays Saul, came on on to her. And that was a big, big treat for me.

And then I go on to empower and play a defense lawyer. And now people stack up Joe Proctor and Saul. But Saul's the lawyer. So tough one. A lot of other good shows, but I wasn't like a Parks and Rec or Community guy. There was like a Homeland. Was Homeland 2010? Or earlier?

I think that might have bled into 2010. Homeland was a great movie. Great show. That's another one. Didn't necessarily land the plane well. But the first two, three seasons of Homeland are excellent. This one was hard, man. Very hard. Not a great movie decade. Not a great movie decade. And this is the decade where I feel like movies kind of got lost, right? Like you weren't just, and again, streaming of tech kind of, everything just kind of changed for me. I think maybe also too, like less time to see movies and stuff. I put a few down

that were just not necessarily my favorite but I think worth mentioning I think Wolf on Wall Street is one of the best movies It jumpstarted Margo Robbie's career Obviously Leo is fantastic in that Jonah Hill is fantastic

It's just a great movie It's fucking a great movie And the other one I put was Bridesmaids Which has still Such a good movie You know I mean I'm a big comedy guy Clearly every movie It's such a good movie

It's still just, it's still a great movie to this day. Like, people will still quote bridesmaids. They'll still watch it when it's on TV. So, um, those two movies. You are a comedy guy, Matt. You are like, would you pick old school or you picked, um, wedding crashers? Wedding Crashers. Dumb and Dumber.

We talked about the hangover, dumb and dung. You are a comedy savant. I love it. I am, dude. So, if I was ever going to be an actor, I'd be a comedian. I'd be a comedic actor. Wolf of Wall Street is a great one. I love bridesmaids.

That's breed. That's my wife's favorite. favorite movie too we watched that one a lot i do want to give a shout out to again i'm not the i'm not the biggest marvel guy i have i've seen all the marvel movies i've not seen all in order you've been shouting out marvel movies no no i just want to i'm giving a tip this is not my winner i'm tipping the cap to the infinity war end game back to back that was so well done so well done i'm just tipping the cap for a movie theater experience that was tremendous but my winner i'm For me, this is the movie, the 2010s, is Interstellar.

And I hope you've seen Interstellar, Matt. That's with McConaughey? Yes. Yeah, I saw it. Not impressed. Look at Lines. Yeah, I saw it. I just don't remember.

Christopher Nolan, Giant Wave. I mean, it's a go. You watch it again. It's great. I mean, inception was 2000. Another Christopher Nolan. No, no, great, great. I would have to go back and watch Interstellar.

I did see it when it first came out. I don't remember necessarily. He was like in the space thing. right? He's like, was that interstellar? It's a space movie. Yeah, yeah. But there's a lot of other layers to it. A couple of his interviews about some of the

scenes that he did, McConaughey was pretty cool. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, shoutouts. We snubbed social network. We snubbed social network. Yeah, I mean, there's obviously, yeah, there's social network, the Dark Night Rises. Yeah. And all of the movies that like one, you know, like,

La La Land won so many. Moonlight. Moonlight, yeah. But lost, but won. They said the wrong award during the Oscars. If you remember that. Terrible. Parasite.

I mean, Social Network was a good movie. Oh, oh, oh. My true runner-up, once upon a time in Hollywood. Leo. That's a good movie. I love that movie, man. That's another one. That's a pretty well-done movie, too.

Was that Tarantino, right? That's Tarantino. Zero Dark, Thirteen. really good movie. But yeah, for me, Interstellar and Matt went comedy, bridesmaid. Now we go to actor of the 2010s, Matt. And for me, this is great, great,

I can go first if you want. Go first. It's really hard to like, like the Leo, you could pick Leo every decade, truly, because he just picks great movies and he's a great actor. But the McConaissance, the Matthew McConaughey. He's my runner up. Go ahead, yeah. He had a... Well, he wins the Oscar,

for Dallas Buyers Club. Star of Interstellar, okay? A phenomenal cameo in Wolf of Wall Street. One scene, he could have maybe almost got nominated for supporting actor. He was in one scene for like three and a half minutes. So, and then, you know, you wash it down with True Detective on HBO.

He already had the weight missing from Dallas Byers Club. And just, I think people hold. He changed the way everybody viewed him. as an actor. Change the way. And then I feel like he actually allowed us in a little bit to who he really was. You know, that's where I discovered is Texas Longhorns, love and all that. So I feel like 2010s belongs on the acting front to McCona.

Shout out. He's been on Big Noon a couple times. He's been on our show. Real deal, Texas football. Just a great dude, man. Okay. So you're going to, I'm going with Jennifer Lawrence. Okay.

All right. Wait to you here. She's had the greatest decade. winner's bone 2010 indie breakout oscar nomination she launched into x-men first class 2011 obviously she was mystique hunger games one of the greatest franchises successful franchises of all time 2012 to 2015 i was actually almost put that as my movies because i like the hunger games silver linings playbook won her best actress oscar at 22 years old american hustle another oscar nom Joy, another Oscar nom.

She had four Oscar nominations in the decade. One in Oscar easily could have been my crush two of the decade. I was a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence. It's not. But I'm going to shout out Jennifer Lawrence. My number two was McConaughey. Matt was your runner up. Yeah.

Jennifer Lawrence, I mean, four Oscar noms. It's an unbelievable run. It's an unbelievable run. In her early 20s. Yeah. And I think she's one of the best. actresses we have. I agree.

And I, you know, I almost had her as my 2010's crush as well. And a lot of the crush was going to be almost obviously she's beautiful and funny and charming. But also it's kind of like a like an acting crush. Like, because of the choices she was making for movies. Yeah, she just. Yeah. She was, she's a beast, dude. We have a big thing.

You know, Jennifer Lawrence and Leo are in Scorsese's next movie coming up. So that might have to be, uh, throw. Quebec's exclusive. Maybe we go to the premiere of that one and go check it out. But now crush gets very difficult because we are now in our 30s heading into our, I turned 40 in 2020. So you were like heading into your 40s. I was jetpacking right into my 40s. So it gets a little like brushes sort of go out the window. But it kind of to your point, it's kind of like maybe your actor crush or like who you know like. Yeah. It's more like respect crush like me like I like I like I just, I like the vibe. It's less about like, oh, she's so hot. It's more just about like the vibe.

Okay, I want to, I want you to go first. Who do you got? Well, this one is kind of she's so hot. Only because I, I sat. Do we have the same person? No, I don't, I sat, well, I sat next to a woman at a next game. Only because she is so hot. Right. And I just remember thinking, and I wasn't, this was not even in like, the creepy guy way. a little more into the skinny phase. A little more like skinny gene phase. You're taking off the end of, yeah, you're in good shape now. Yeah, not like the tight skinny gene where you're like, you're going to look at me, you be like Matt, what the fuck are you wearing? But just like

a little more form fitting. You know, the decade before was baggy jeans. Baggy, you're leaving the baggy clothes behind. I do feel like the baggy is coming back. I do have some of that. It's kind of coming back a little bit. But the more form-fitting stuff, I think, like, the athleisure wear, like, all of those things, like, took off. The one little thing is the board short. The short Euro board short took off for me. That's where I used to have the board shorts below the knees, like all of us.

Oh, yeah, yeah. I still do, but I still go below the knee. I can't go above the knee. Yeah, I'll go five and a half inch, maybe six above the knee. So it's a little shorter. And I have skinny legs. But it's like, I can't go below the knee anymore. So for me, that was sort of my fashion choice that I switched to that I, and my brother makes fun of me. He calls me all sorts of names, but he makes fun of me. I'm like, I don't care, bro.

Like, this is what I wear now. Your below the knee is like capri pants on me, probably. If I put on one of your below the knee shorts. They go to your shins. Almost down to my ankles. Yeah, by the way, my upper thighs have not seen the sun. I don't know ever, maybe. upper thighs do not come out

yeah this is tough I certainly athleisure wear like the minute it started to become like hey you could wear like a hoodie and like sweats to a meeting or out or something that's not like frowned upon love that it's not my pick I'm picking something that I did not myself wear

but I just remember being like wow everybody wears the bomber jackets came back the bomber jackets exploded again And I like a bomber jacket. I rocked a bomber jacket like 25 years ago. It fully came back with the skinny jeans and all that. And I just remember like, I can't do it. I can't pull it off.

I wish I could. But everybody was going like Tom Cruise, Maverick with the bomber jacket. I think the bright, like, and I've kind of got into this, the bright color has kind of come out. I was doing some research. I'm like,

how that makes sense. Because I, like, I'm still a plain black tea, white tea. I like graphic teas. But like, The color stuff now is kind of coming out, like the brighter colors. Like I think probably was more like in the 80s and 90s, right? With like the tie-dye stuff and the, it kind of went away.

And now I think it's also coming back to, I don't know. I mean, some, I mean, you see some of the NBA guys and they wear some of that shit too. I'm like, I don't know if it looks good. Everything comes back. People are now dressing like Turtle in the 2000s still again. Like, but it's back. The grown man wearing jerseys, bro. It'll happen.

This is an apology message from uncrustables. They made the perfect pillowy soft game day snack and then also made you wait up to an hour to eat it. Maybe you've seen the thaw hack videos going around. People so desperate to thaw out their uncrustables. They wedged them in their armpit to warm up under their pillows. The other day, my son tucked one of his uncrustables into one of my old hand warmers for my playing days.

I don't even know where he found that thing. My boys have their own methods. I don't even know what they're doing. I just, I hear them in the kitchen. and then I see them later and they're crushing one of their favorite uncrustables. They even have their baby brother in the mix. I think they put one under like the playpen the thawed out the other day. You shouldn't have to do all that, Jerry.

And now you don't have to because now you can keep uncrustable sandwiches in the fridge. So they're ready to enjoy right when that craving hits. There's no more wait time. Personally, I can say I accept their apology because when it's game time for me and my family and we're running out the door, I grab an uncrustable straight from our fridge. All right, tech it bad. Tech advancement. This gets a little,

this is where it starts to get weird now because the tech stuff. I know mine and mine is like my selfish one. For me, Uber changed the game. Good one. For me, just, you know, first of all, living in L.A., New York is one thing because cabs were a thing.

We even did a joke about it, an entourage. Like, L.A. has, like, green cabs and red cab. Like, what just happened to the monochromatic yellow cab in New York. But that was always a bummer. L.A., you're always driving, right? And parking is a pain in the ass most times. And obviously, you don't want to ever drink and drive.

So the minute Uber really became, I know it kind of came out 09, but then once they figured it out and mastered it, Uber for me, what changed everything. Airports, all that stuff. Uber is, I forget that there's a great movie about Uber. Yeah, I watched it. Is it?

Justin Gordon Levitt. Justin Gordon Levitt, yeah. It's a great how it sort of happened. Yeah, I think all of those things. I imagine like the, you know, Uber, DoorDash, all of that stuff came out in this decade. Yep. Where you just sort of became lazy and you didn't do anything on your own anymore. I would say that, like streaming obviously massively took off.

That's kind of changed how we watch shows and television. But I think that the obvious one for me was just social media and like Instagram. And then TikTok had the late takeover. TikTok blew up like right at the time. the end of the decade, like 2019, and then it really blew up during COVID. That's when everybody, because it was the only thing you could do. So I think like the Instagram and the stories and the pictures is kind of like, I never was huge in it, but it changed. I mean, God, look at us. We talked about the 90s and 2000s and how we loved it because we were just freer and we didn't have,

we weren't glued to our phone. This is the decade where this stuff has taken over for better or for worse. Yep. I agree. And look, the real answer is like, obviously the smartphone and how... Well, AirPods are huge. AirPods. I was saying, like, without the iPhone or whatever that your phone is, like, that's like the easy answer, but it's more about the other things

that are positive. I thought about maybe like electric vehicles and Tesla and all that, but I don't, I've never really rocked one, so I can't do it. AirPos is a great one. Uber, Uber is... Uber for me, Don, like just... Like I said, I was like single going out in the 2010s. It was just so easy hopping. Uber, Uber... Uber... when your kids will get there, but I have a 19-year-old.

Yeah, how does that come into fact? Well, because at least in our neighborhood, we're our smaller community, no one was racing to go get their driver's license. Like, nobody really cared that much. It was like, when you and I grew up, a minute we had to get it, like, dude, I was already locked and loaded going to the DMV. You had to get it. You had to get a car because you had to be able to drive yourself places.

Like, part of it is where he grew up, but part of it's like there's just not a need because you have Uber. and you have lift and you have And nothing's that far if you're staying in the community But like I imagine in other communities Where it's a little more spread out Like there's just not there's not a rush That I noticed in this sort of generation

So Uber and Uber's had that impact obviously Um Video Game let's go video game This is the one that is always my favorite But it is kind of sad Because when I did my deep dive into the video games of 2010s Well by like 2017, I'm phasing out.

I'm out. I'm out. I got to be honest. I'm phasing out big time. I haven't played. Mine, I'll go first. I just play Madden. That's it. Yeah. Mine is Madden. Mine is college football. That's come back, which Cole is in, which is pretty cool.

So I've had to run with that. And then I do think the game of the decade is Fortnite and how it changed. 100%. It's the game of the decade and the business model and how it changed and buying skin. And like just everything that it did. And it's a great game. The battle royal. It's a great game.

I never got into it. do it that much, but, um, but yeah, I mean, that's it, man. It's the old school video games dominate the 90s, 2000s. I mean, that's, that's where it took off. I mean, culturally, though, Fortnite, it's funny. I remember being so worried about my nephew because he gave like two full summers, probably like nine and 10 years old, did not do anything else, but play Fortnite. And I'm like, this kid is, like, I remember talking to my brother. I'm like, I'm a gamer and I'm telling you that this is going too far. Like, that's it between the micro-transact.

It's going too far. Fortunately, he got to high school. He started playing football and working out, and now him and I play Madden here or there, and he doesn't really even play anymore. But that also launched, obviously, Twitch and streaming games was already

going on, but once, Fortnite, I remember the Fortnite stream with Drake and Ninja. And maybe Travis Scott, I don't remember if Travis, or maybe I was a different one, but the Drake playing with Ninja, and this all coincide a lot with COVID and stuff when we're all

kind of locked up later. But Ninja and Drake streaming for at night, I remember that was like, this is a real moment. This is like a cultural thing. By the way, Ninja still owes me $1,000. Let me tell you something. We're going to post this. Ninja owes me a thousand dollars. Yeah, he's got, he's doing it.

Are you going to say from what? Are you going to leave that? Do you want to know the story real quick? We'll tell the story because we're doing Big Noon in Michigan. And he's in Detroit. And I had done... Big Lions guy, yeah. Yeah, I had done a Twitch stream with his brother.

He goes by, I think, bearded Blevins is he goes by his handle name. Great dudes. Like, great guy. So we, you know, we exchanged numbers and all this stuff and whatever. They're big Lions fans, like, Dyer. So I'm like, oh, I'm in town. They go, oh, dude, we're here. We're at the casino.

We're watching the Lions. We're watching Monday night. or it would have been Thursday night football. It would have been Thursday night football. So I get in, I go over there. I'm like, all right, cool. So it's Ninja, him, a couple of their buddies, and we're watching the game.

And I think it was Baltimore. And however got brought up, he makes me a bet that Derek Henry wouldn't rush for a thousand yards this year. This was a couple, maybe two years ago. It's fucking week one or two. I'm like, are you serious? He's like, yeah.

And he gave his whole reasoning. And he bet me $1,000 that Derek Kennedy wouldn't have a thousand yards. Did he have like $1,600? Yeah, it was like $1,400 or it was just like, easiest $1,000 of ever won. Never pay me back. So, Ninja, pay your boy.

This is a good public call. You know I'm not lying either. And we know you have a thousand dollars. You could easily vend by that. It's collecting interest now. So, you know, it's probably at least $1,700. Yeah, a couple grand. So I did throw up another game there just because, like,

I figured you might land on Fortnite as well. And now it's just because the anticipation coming from the new game. But Grant Theft Auto 5 came out, whatever it was. But it came out in like 2012, we're 13, right? And then through advancements and switching over consoles, it just kept this life. VR. VR has changed a lot too.

It's just, I don't know. It's, again, we're older. We don't have as much time. We're not playing all the new games out. No. You play a lot of games on your phone now, like all the mobile apps, mobile games, which I'm, I play, you know, like when I'm, you know, killing time or on the plane.

So it's just a different where we're not spending hours on our console just dominating freaking Zelda in 1989. I did have two days to myself a few weeks back when my family stayed up camping. And we just had too much work to do. But we've often talked a few times like your family goes and visits. Josie's family when you're home alone. I've only had it like once in the last six years. But I still say my number one thing, maybe after golf.

Like I would definitely go golf. but then I'm coming home, and I just wish for one day only. I only need one day of this. But I would love to do like the 12-hour blurry eye, coffee, weed, just like, I was saying with a nice joint. 12 hours straight. I would love that. I hope that happens for you, dear.

I feel like I'm at least 10 years away. So, all right. Before we do MVP at a decade, we did this last episode. we added in like what were we drinking back in the 2000s as we became legal age. So I thought it would be right to add a special category for the 2010s. We're going to do our favorite social media moment. It could be a meme. It could just be something that went viral.

But being that you even said social media as a tech advancement, I think we have to say our favorite moment from social media. So I don't necessarily have a moment from social media. There's so many. So I'm going to go just There's two that just make me laugh. Crying Jordan, I think it's the number one meme. Always a win.

Always a win. And I don't, I think it came out in this decade, maybe less. I don't know. But like just the greatest athlete, maybe ever of all time, has the greatest meme of all time. The distracted boyfriend one is the greatest too. God, if someone had like royalties on that, dude, they'd be a billionaire.

And then Homer Simpson in the bush, just like... Yeah. I say those three because they're most common, but they're also the ones that like I've used or the ones that like, I just think we'll stand the test of time. They're the fucking iconic. What is your moment? God, there's so many ways you can go.

So what I... I picked like a trend because, A, this, I believe this really did do a lot of good for awareness. And I just thought there was a funny challenge. I never did it myself, but I,

I did like the ice bucket challenge. Ice bucket challenge supporting ALS. I did that. You know, I do think it, I didn't, honestly, I didn't know a whole lot about ALS before the ice bucket challenge.

So it did his job in that right. And so many people did. It's just like, I think if you say ice bucket challenge, everyone knows exactly what it is and what you're thinking. So that was my social media moment. But like, I did love, I almost picked like Steph Curry tunnel shots became a viral thing.

Bottle flips became a thing. Bottle flips. Cannon still does bottle flips. Damn Daniel. Damn Daniel got me really good and cash me outside. Got me really good. But I'm going ice bucket challenge. So that's good. All right. Good cause. All right. MVP of the 2010s, Matt. What was your MVP of the 2010s? Dude, I mean, I don't know. I think I, this one was hard for me because I just, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, took an obvious one, but I, again, I want to give flowers when they're due. Honorable mention, got married in the decade. Same.

Same honorable mention. My kids, Cole obviously is born, but my first born with Josie was 2020. Right. But married and that next chapter, right? Like, that's like the growing up phase, which is incredible and it's been awesome. I'm going to go LeBron James, dude. I'm keeping an athlete-centric. probably different ways I could have gone.

I just think when you look at the overall resume of what he accomplished this, and I don't even need to read it off, but it was, it's just incredible. And the fact that he's still going in 2026, he's one of the greatest athletes this world has ever seen. There will never be another LeBron James. And probably will never be another NBA player that plays 20 plus seasons at the level that he said. It just doesn't happen, right? So he's one of one. He dominated the decade.

And shit, he's freaking dominating this decade, too. Still waiting to find out where he's going. Give him a shout out. Great. Love it. So for me, I picked something that affects both you and I. And I almost put this as tech advancement, but I really thought long and hard.

And it is the true MVP of the decade for me. But of course, 2019, I did become a dad, but leaving personal things aside. I picked podcasts. I picked podcasts. I started my first one back in 2013 with Bree. It was Bree and I, Bad for Business Podcasts.

I got a lot of people messaging me still to bring it back. Good luck trying to get Bree to do a podcast right now. We got her for 10 minutes on throwbacks a year ago. And she was pregnant and had nine kids with her. But I just think that I've always loved the format coming from like a love, of sports radio, but also a love of pop culture. I love a good conversation in these days for me. I don't get to have tons of adult conversations out there.

And the fact that you and I get to meet up every week and chop it up, either just you and I or John Heer. It is a great platform. Yeah, somewhere when you said LeBron is your MVP to decade, John Heeter went, who? Like somewhere, he just went, huh? But yeah. And then I think everything between how you've seen athletes take charge and launch there. current athletes launched their own podcast and actors

and it really is the way to get to know people to promote a project. It's a decade of the voice of everybody has their own voice for better for worse. Like it could, it's... And the first one I ever listened to was in 2010. I think it was like a Bill Simmons episode.

I don't remember the first podcast. And then I've just been consuming. I think for me too, because I still am like an audio guy. I love that we watch podcasts on YouTube now. But because now I, am on the go and I'm either in the car, like, I just put them in my ears and I get to like constantly absorb information even while I'm doing these sort of mindless chores I have to do throughout the day.

So podcast is my big winner, big MVP. Interesting decade, man. Interesting decade. I can't say I love it as much as the 90s and 2000s, folks. I think I chalk it up to us just just being old, bro. It's just, it's just a lot of it's just, you know, listen, man, some things in life are guaranteed, right? Taxes and we're all going to go one day. We're all getting older.
