Would you rather have a Nick's title or officially reboot Entourage?
I picked the title over golf because I felt like if I picked Golf, that's selfish.
Picking an Entourage reboot is not necessarily selfish.
There'll be a lot of happy people.
Just give me an answer.
I think I got to go Entourage Rebute.
Yeah.
All right, everybody, welcome in another episode of Throwbacks.
I'm highly caffeinated.
I'm going to be talking very fast today.
It's my guy.
Yeah.
Do us to solid.
Go over to the YouTube.
hit the subscribe button.
It's free.
Go watch some of the old episodes.
Hit us on social media at throwback show.
Climing the charts on Instagram.
I got to say, a little internal competition.
We had it.
Did we just surpass?
We've squeaked by some shows.
I'm just saying.
Step your game up, boys.
Shout out to the boys over a triple option.
So, Matt, we are recording this.
It's Wednesday.
Obviously, the finals will be kicking off tonight.
So when this airs, we do not know what happened in game one.
And I'll say it up the top with the Knicks and Spurs.
I don't think game one will decide.
Hopefully it won't decide either way
who it wins, who will win the series.
So that's not going to kill my excitement.
I mean, listen, I would, I would like to,
I would like to give you the floor
for a minute or two.
You don't have to rant.
I mean, you've been all over X this week.
You're the troll king when it comes to Nick's basketball.
Call out the bullshit, man.
I call out the bullshit.
But this is a big, this is a big moment for Nick's fans.
You got to the finals.
It's been a long time.
I am curious of your thoughts, how you're feeling about just the potential of the Nix winning
their first championship.
But what?
Since what?
1973, I believe.
19703.
They haven't been to a final since the 90s.
99.
What is it like right now being a Nix fan?
The only way to describe it to this point has been, for the playoffs anyway, has been
euphoria.
like and almost disbelief at what you're seeing
because we watched last year
like the way they beat the Celtics was crazy
those 20 point comebacks underdog
in almost every series
and all the sudden this team gets hot
and starts rolling and we see this new
team essentially it's a new team
from what we saw on the regular season
and the amount of like the Knicks
historically don't take care of business
they lose to the teams they should beat
they blow 18 point
leads and that was off the table for this run so far.
They took all that off the table.
So the fact that a lot of these games were settled at halftime, man, that was good on my
heart for stress.
Does that make you nervous at all going into the finals?
Completely because most Nick fans, especially if you're over the age of like 35, you don't
expect good things.
You don't say this is our year.
Like we say maybe this is our year to make the playoffs.
We don't say this is our year to win the title.
That being said, you know, look, I'm very.
impressed with the Spurs as is everyone.
Wemby's walking up a mountain with a monk probably right now, doing all sorts of drills.
Maybe he's at the pyramids, talking to the alien parents that he has.
So, you know, the question is, is this young Spurs team ready to win?
And they certainly look like they are.
They have home court.
And I think game one will be very telling.
And obviously, the result is out.
But the Knicks on the long layoff, but this team, Matt, you've seen it.
And, you know, they were in the Eastern Conference finals last year and maybe should have won that series.
Like they just seem like ready like this is their time.
Yeah, they're playing their best basketball when it matters the most.
They're fun to watch.
Brunson is an absolute freaking stud.
I'm rooting for him.
Just like, you know, you kind of root for the little guy, the underdog.
He's, you know, they've been close the last couple years.
It's exciting.
What would a Knicks chance?
I just, I love, because I'm getting to know you the last couple years, I love, I love the diehard
fandom of someone.
I don't understand it to some degree just because I don't feel that.
I guess maybe as an athlete.
I have it with the Dodgers and the Lakers.
Sure.
To some degree.
But like, what, I mean, what would a Knicks championship?
Like, if they win this championship, like, what does that mean to you?
So, and here's what I think some of it is.
you to. Obviously, it's because you played, you know, sports at the highest level, right? So you
maybe see, you know how the sausage is made a little bit, you know? So, but also, you mentioned
those two teams, right? Lakers, Dodgers, they've won a lot, right? So you're not necessarily a starved fan.
They could say the Dodgers went on a drought, but the Lakers, you got titles like every three
years, right? Kings, Lakers, Dodgers, yeah. I've noticed, and we should talk about some like New York
championships and what they mean, but like, Yankees have won a lot, giants have won a lot,
a good amount, even though they're on a massive drought.
And I just think with the Knicks, it hits so different because it has been so long.
And they've been so far off.
So for me and probably a lot of fans of my age, it feels like this project we've been working
on.
Now, I know we don't play.
I know we're not GMs.
I know we don't coach.
But in terms of investing your energy, your time, your money, it feels like this project
and investment we've all made
that have been showing horrible losses
for a very long time, right?
We're finally now making big money.
It feels like, wow, this investment
that we came in on
is now finally starting to pay some bills.
To the point, Matt, where if they do win the championship,
I wonder, like, am I,
does my obsession go down a little bit next year?
Ah, well, let's cross that bridge.
Yeah.
You'd rather have that problem.
So I want to throw a back
and you are a lifelong Knicks fan.
You've seen some great teams.
You've also had tons of heartbreak.
There's been incredible players
to put in that uniform.
Who are maybe your top five Knicks?
And I'm sure Jalen Brunson is going to be up there
because you love yourself from Brunson.
Who are your top five Knicks of all time?
That is a very good question.
And yeah, that list could be at being edited right now.
Okay.
So if I did like my Mount Rushmore, and again,
give me your top,
Give me your Mountain Rushmore four guys.
Your top four.
Clyde Fraser is like still number one,
but it's not mine because I just,
I wasn't there.
He's a broadcaster to me, right?
He's like the voice of the Knicks.
So like shoutouts,
of course,
no one would have a problem with anyone
saying Clyde's the best Nick of all time.
But I'm going to remove that
because it's not my generation.
I go Ewing one.
I go Stark's too,
because that was just my guy.
I love, Matt.
I love.
I love John.
Starks.
His story, like, every time...
I don't know why that made me laugh, but John Starks is your top for the top.
When he started the pop off, right?
As a Nick, it was always like...
Nick's found him bagging groceries in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was in, like, the CBA for a while.
And then he makes an All-Star team and becomes this three-point shooting threat before that was possible.
I'm sorry, Brunson now making the finals.
He's number three for me.
Yeah, I have no problem with that.
If you just look at the four years since...
This is year four now, Brunson.
first year
got out of the first round
He's a superstar man
He's a star
You know
Second year
You know
Lost to Indiana
In the second round
And it's been
Eastern Conference finals
And now finals
So it's just gone up
Every year
So if this is
The Brunson era
T's up there for me
Out of respect
Out of respect
I am going to put
Mello in there
Out of respect
Because he came
Mello came
and a time
Did what? Did what?
I'm just saying he came to New York and tried
when no other superstar wanted.
LeBron didn't want to come.
D. Wade didn't want to. No superstar
wanted to go to New York for whatever their reasons were
but Mello. So I give him to any, look
he tried, man, he tried.
No, Oakley? No, Oakley?
I love Oakley.
Spree?
No, no, no.
Jeremy Lynn?
No. No. No. I, look, Lynn Sanity was
fun, man. And we could talk about that
in New York moments. Bernard King? Shockingly
enough, I mean, Alan Houston is a name
you should put up there. He arguably has the biggest shot
ever for the Knicks. But
I'm going to give you a name
that maybe we'll start making
people's lists 20 years from now.
It's going to surprise you.
But hear me out.
Things started changing for
this Knicks team when two men
showed up. Tom Tibado
and Julius Randall.
Julius Randall came to this team. They
won 19 games.
They ended up winning 44 and got a three seed.
He made two all-MBAs, three All-Star games, and he came to this team.
The Knicks were in, when I say in the toilet, Matt, in the toilet.
And those two men came around and it's been playoffs ever since.
Well, shout out.
Shout out to your five.
I want to play one little game with you before we move on.
Okay.
This is Would You Rather?
Okay.
Would you rather have a Knicks title this year or golf once a month, no questions asked, no consequences?
I'll even throw that twice a month.
No questions asked, no consequences, don't have to answer to anybody.
And you get to just free.
Next championship.
Would you rather have a Knicks title or officially reboot Entourage?
See, I picked the title over golf
Because I felt like if I picked golf that's selfish
Picking an entourage reboot is not necessarily selfish
There'll be a lot of happy people
Uh, ooh
Just give me an answer
I think I got to go entourage really
Yeah
Only because that might keep me court side at the Knicks game
Would you rather have the Knicks win a title
Or turtle wins an Emmy
You can go back
Like I win an Emmy for playing Turtle
You win an Emmy for playing Turtle
And it happens
And you have that right on the back shelf right there
So that, okay
All right
That's tough, that's tough, that's tough
I swear I think I'm gonna go with a Knicks title
I feel like the Emmys are great
Yeah, it don't mean
Reboot Entourage more important
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
That could set my family out for
All right last one
Would you rather have the next one a title
Or?
Or
move back to California and live in Manhattan Beach.
Dude.
And again,
it's just easy.
It's just like,
hey,
we're moving.
Everyone's happy.
Like,
am I getting like a free house maybe?
Sweeten the pot?
You could afford a house.
But,
but no questions asked,
no consequences.
Everybody's happy to move.
I'm going to pick Nick's title because like Biggie Small said in welcome and I'm
going to Cali,
L.A.
Great place to visit.
Oh,
I still could go to L.A.
Whenever I comes out.
Bro, I could go to L.A.
tomorrow for a month.
And I will.
You can ditch those winners out there, bro.
I know.
No, that's true.
Listen, Knicks win a time.
Okay.
I need it, Matt.
I need it.
Yeah, he wants a Knicks title.
Well, good luck to your Knicks, man.
It's going to be fun to watch.
Well, it got me thinking to, and it's fun.
We could even do this, like, down the road with you with, like, L.A. championships
Because there's been so many between the Kings, Lakers, Dodgers.
You know, I started thinking if you were to rank the New York sports.
it's championships, right?
And I like doing this exercise.
Like, I've sometimes asked fans, like, what, what title would you trade so then this
team could win a title, right?
And that was really only, like, I guess jet fans might trade a lot, right?
Jet fans might trade a whole lot.
So if I were to do, whether it's a throwback three, Mount Rushmore, for me personally,
of New York titles, and tell me what you think of this list.
I put a lot of thought into this.
for me
I go
one is the 07-08
Giants
beating the undefeated
Patriots
These are your favorite
New York titles
in your lifetime
I go with
07-08 Giants
Yeah it's improbable
Is it improbable run
Then I go
96 Yankees
Because up until that point
I've experienced no titles
Their last title was 78
I was born in 79
And they
The Madding
era in the 80s and very early 90s was not good.
They were very, very bad.
They were a bad team.
And then I get real selfish because this one could have meant a lot,
the 2000 Yankee Subway Series.
Because as a Yankee fan growing up in New York,
if you lose to the Mets in the World Series,
that's like I got a move at in New York,
can't show my face.
I move on from there.
Shoutouts to my hockey guys, 94 Rangers,
breaking the 40-year curse,
Messier guaranteeing victory in the Eastern Conference Finals.
And then lastly, so show you I'm not selfish, I got to give shoutouts to the Mets in 86
with the Bill Buckner through the legs.
They were down three, two.
The Red Sox could have closed them out right there.
And now was such a fun team, Darryl Strawberry, Gary Carter, Lenny Deichstra.
So I would round it out for top five with that Mets one.
So you're missing.
So there's a Yankees one in there.
There's the other giant super bowl.
Other giants one.
There's the 91 too with the bills.
Wide Right is missing as well.
And that was the first Super Bowl where I actually knew what the hell was going on.
If you take away, if you take away the Yankees titles in the 90s, 2000s, there really hasn't been a ton of New York championships.
Well, the Knicks are the big goose egg.
Well, the Knicks, the Jets.
Islanders are not good.
The Nets don't even qualify for me as a New York team.
I mean, I know.
I get it.
But still, I mean, they've tried.
They've tried to put together some teams and they just can't freaking win.
They'll never qualify.
Listen, this is a big week for New York fans.
It's a big week for New York fans.
All right.
So when we're going to take a quick break.
When we come back, we're going to do biggest final shots ever.
Biggest shots in the NBA finals.
And in some research, there's a few more.
There's the obvious ones, but there's a few more.
I don't think you have to dig too deep for the impact that some of these shots
potentially would have had.
I dug deep though.
Just know.
The legacy of players.
I've dug pretty deep.
So, all right.
Biggest final shots when we come back.
One second.
Okay, one thing I've really tried to stay consistent with lately is my morning routine.
No matter how busy things get, I like to start today with a little quiet time, coffee, get outside for a quick walk, just before everything kicks into high gear.
And honestly, during the summer, when you're traveling more or constantly on the move, it's easy for those routines to disappear.
And that's why I've been loving Kachava's new travel pack.
They make it ridiculously easy to keep my daily wellness routine going wherever I am.
I could just throw a couple of packs in my bag and I'm all set.
It's all the nutrition your body craves in one simple shake.
You got protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and greens, probiotics, electrolytes, and more.
And the best part, it actually tastes great.
My go-to is chocolate, but they've got six flavors including vanilla, chai, macha, coconut assay, and strawberry.
Plus, it gives me steady energy throughout the day
and helps me stay on track
even when my normal schedule is changing.

Hi there, I'm Lily Pat.
Let's play.
So that's...
The device.
Me and the toys have been working to try and get Bonnie to make friends.
Well, a friend-made.
What just happened?
Lillipad made Bonnie a friend in life.
15 seconds.
I was counting.
On June 19th.
Our time ain't over yet.
Bonnie still needs us.
Come on, Bullseye.
Right for us.
Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5.
Only in theaters, June 19th.
Tickets available now.
All right, Maddie.
NBA finals are upon us.
We're going to do the biggest finals shot ever in your.
opinion. So we could like ping pong
this back and forth. This is a little bit of
a throwback for the throwback show.
And we have some real iconic ones. I'm going to warn
you now, I got some deep cuts. I got some deep cuts.
Well, I mean, why don't you give me a deep cut first?
Because I researched,
I looked, but I'm like, I don't want to like
some of the iconic shots that we all think
I want to talk about the Ray Allen
because I think it's the biggest one of all time.
But...
Here's a deep cut.
go ahead one that people don't talk about anymore it's not in the zeitgeist
dirk 2011 finals mavericks down 1-0 in miami already
they go down 20 points they come all the way back
he hits a tying jumper with like 20 left and then he
on the move layup closes the game out two seconds left
who is that who is that oh durk oh d'nabs yeah we don't talk about a lot but
they would have gone down 2 oh and then they cut it to 1-1
then they go on to win the championship and almost like make things real tough on LeBron
for not, you know, competing when J.J. Barreo was guarding him in the finals.
That's your boy.
Shout out.
So I think, I think Ray Allen's shot is, I mean, you can argue the Kyrie Irving,
but I would say the Ray Allen shot for a couple reasons.
Ray Allen, 2013, game six, right?
And then I think, I believe they go on to win in game seven.
So one just for the Spurs, right?
If the Spurs, the Spurs were up three, two, the Spurs win that series, then you start
talking about this Spurs.
Because we don't really talk about the Sturs and the way they play, but you talk about
Tim Duncan, right?
Probably, I think he would have had, that would have given them six rings or five
rings.
You talk about that era and some of the best teams of all time.
So what that would have done for the Spurs and Tim Duncan and where he's at and his legacy
because he's kind of always like the undervalue guy, but he's one of the, maybe
the best power for it of all time. And then you talk about LeBron, and obviously that's the big one.
And then the decision, right? Because you just talked about 2011. They lost to the Mavs.
Then in 2012, they win it. Obviously, in 2013, they went back to back. If Ray Allen, if Ray Allen
misses that, they lose this series. They lose. Then you just talk about the narrative and the
hatred again for LeBron and all that. And then just what it does for the legacy. And then I want to
couple that in with Kyrie's shot. Maybe you're going to talk about Kyrie. But yeah, because
that's my number one in my era of watching.
So I would just say this, a lot of what is, but these shots were crazy, right?
Like easily can go out.
If they don't make those two shots, LeBron gets to 10 finals and wins only two rings at this
point.
Yeah.
And one of those rings is a bubble ring for the Lakers, which I still count as a ring,
obviously, but it's a bubble ring.
And how that would potentially change.
It won't take away the greatness and all of that, but how we view him in regards.
regards to the rings and the greatest of all time.
It is crazy that those two shots,
what that did for his legacy.
I agree, Matt.
And it's cool to almost got to lump those.
I like your case. You're basically putting those
two together because they had the
same function. They had the same outcome
of what they did for one of our greatest
players. Now, I gave you
one deep cut, staying simple.
Like the Jordan shot against the spurs.
I mean, against the jazz.
Not only, and obviously the steel was even
more impressive. But to me,
it might be number one just because that is the defining image,
that picture from behind of him with the shot,
with all the Utah fans snapping pictures.
Well, that's also his last game in the Bulls uniform.
Yeah, it's six for six in the titles and like send off.
I know we talk about like magic sky hook.
I'm sorry, the cameras were not good enough.
It's a storybook, yeah.
So before more deep cuts,
I'll give you the Jordan shot because that just has to be there.
I think another deep cut
run our test against the Celtics
Yeah
That the funny thing is
Is unexpected
Unexpected
Because he was ice cold
He just was ice cold
And he was you know
Obviously he was a defender
And he had his role
But you see that the greatest part of that
Is you see Kobe at the top of the key
Like as he goes in
He's like
Oh no don't shoot
Don't shoot
And then I think he goes in dude
It's the biggest
No no no
Yes moment
And then the best part about that
is in the post game after they win it all.
He's that, remember he thanks his therapist.
He's like, I want to thank my therapist for all.
It was just the greatest.
It was one of the greatest shots ever.
You ready for another deeper cut?
Yeah.
All right.
John Paxon.
You remember that name?
John Paxon.
You know, not a name that you hear tons anymore, more in the front office kind of stuff.
But he had a go, go ahead three with 3.9 seconds that solidified the three peat.
that's pretty damn cool
I mean just thinking like he's a shooter
no like like tie game
10 seconds left
Jordan dribbling
dishes to Paxton on the wing
hits a three with under four seconds left
I mean
thinking of John Paxton makes me think of like
again I know it was a different era
and I know Jordan had Pippin
but like look at Jordan's teams
dude Steve Kerr Paxon
Paxon Wend
Wendton B.J Armstrong
BJ Armstrong
Luke Longley.
Yeah.
I mean, I mean, just absolute dominance.
Horace Grant.
I mean, he had, I mean, he had great role.
Horace Grant was good.
Yeah, but like.
And he got Rodman for a little bit, but really was Jordan and Pippin.
Yeah, it was Jordan and Pippen.
Yeah.
Yeah, John Paxon.
Steve Curr had a big shot.
Steve Curry had a very similar.
Paxons might have been a two or curs might.
One of them was a two.
One of them was a three, I believe.
Curz was a very similar shot on the second three people.
Yeah, because it's in the, uh, it's in the dock, the last stance of like,
hey, I'm going to be open, whatever.
Yeah, Dylan Harper's dad
Colise on the chat.
I don't want to hear nothing about Dylan Harper today.
Do you got some more?
Because I got a few more.
Oh, you go.
You go. I'm all out.
I mean, yeah, go for it.
This is a, look, we talked about, like, big,
we have to talk about big shot Bob.
2005, Robert Horrie shot for the Spurs in the game five.
Down two.
You're down two points.
Game five.
We know game five is the swing game series was two-two.
So whoever wins that game is a massive advantage.
Who comes off the bench?
Big shot, Bob.
I mean, he's done it for every team he's ever been on.
By the way, what's he has he has?
He's got five or six rings too, man.
Seven, I think.
Seven?
Seven? I don't know.
Do we know, is Robert Ori's seven?
What rings?
Lakers, spurs, and rockets?
Seven rings, bro.
So Robert Ori is the goat at this.
Like, just timely shots from a role player.
We got to get Orion.
We got to get Orion throwbacks.
And, you know, I don't think we, like, this is probably a shot.
we will not talk about ever again
because this team did not go on to win the championship
and it was only one year ago.
But the black magic of the Pacers
Halliburton like just
hits a game.
No, that was the Knicks series.
Oh, that was a Knicks series.
Then game one against the thunder,
Tyreys Halliburton hit a walkoff game
winning shot with 0.2 seconds left
in Oklahoma City.
That's right. That's why
I'm like optimistic even if the Knicks would have
played the Thunder. It's like, yes, I know how great the Thunder are full strength.
But they lost Halliburton in the first quarter in game 70, popped his Achilles.
Now, I'm not saying they win the game, but how do you feel, like, that guy was in there.
I mean, he's your star.
Yeah, he's great.
But a run of just these crazy comebacks.
So, uh.
Well, I got a feeling, I got a feeling this series is going to be.
We're going to get one.
There's going to be a shot.
So, Wemby had had that tie in game one of the last series.
we're going to get a shot from somebody.
Somebody's going to make something.
Do you have any feelings?
What's your gut telling you on either side?
If someone, who do you think is most ripe
to make a shot that may be on throwbacks
five years from now, we will talk about as a throwback?
It can be on the team.
You don't have to say a Nick just because it's me.
I think, I think OG or Bridges?
I think one, because it's going to be one where like,
it's going to be a kickout.
They're going to collapse on Brunson, even though he is a ball hog.
They're going to collapse on Brunson and someone's going to be open on the wing.
And it's just going to be one of those guys.
I think, I think's got a shot.
It could be Landry Shammett, dude.
Man, do you post that video of him shooting in your backyard?
No, I want to post it to post that.
That's like the most random thing, just back and cold shooting around.
You pan over with the camera and Landry Shams.
It's taught everything he knows getting ready for the final.
Wait, Eddie.
Eddie, can you jump on one second, buddy?
Producer Eddie Gonzalez.
Tell everybody, where are you?
Where are you right now?
I'm in San Antonio.
I'm in a hotel staring at the riverwalk as we speak,
which is to say that it's not Manhattan.
It's fun, though.
It's nice.
So you were there covering with The Cousins show,
another AMP Media, awesome podcast.
So basically, first ever, like, NBA Media Day for the finals, right?
Was that kind of why all these podcasts and shows,
have come to San Antonio?
Well, they're trying to, Matt, you'll love this.
They're trying to take NBA NFL's media role from Super Bowl week
and create their own NBA version of this.
So this year they had podcast row.
And the cousin show was a part of that.
So we were here for that.
I love it.
It was cool.
And I'll say this, Jerry.
Yeah.
I don't like, the kids love this word.
But I was sitting there when the Knicks walked into the building.
Some aura on that team.
A good Voss.
Some aura.
They just looks like ready and then we see their open workout.
They're working out to Jay-Z, the Michael Jackson.
They just look like they're in a good place.
I'm not, you know, not that that wins you the series having good vibes, but they look like they're in a good place.
What's the general?
Like, we know all the podcasts are going to make their takes and stuff.
But in between the mics rolling and stuff, you don't have to out anybody.
But, like, what are people saying?
Like, what would you come away with reporting?
Like, you know, this was the.
overall sentiment from San Antonio?
I think it kind of mirrored that walk-in,
like talk to a bunch of different media,
former players. We had some guys on cousins
and just, you know, look,
a lot of people picked the spurs,
but really felt like the Knicks
like just have the magic this year.
Some years there's just the team of destiny
gets the momentum going. Everybody loves
Jaylen Brunson, everybody loves
Deuce McBride, you know.
And I think the thing I heard a lot of people
say is there were one
wondering what exactly Mike Brown's going to cook up for Wembe.
They're wondering, like, is he have the master plan for Wemby?
Is anyone?
Does anyone?
I mean, you know, I was in the room with the podium.
They had OG.
And he was like, they're like, what's it like, is it similar to anybody?
He's like, no, he's 7.5.
Yeah.
And he's skilled.
He's got to know where he's at.
Yeah.
So he was just like, you know, you try to work on his tendencies.
this and that and I've guarded to Olympiad
I've guarded Yolkits but he's 7-5
like he's the only guy like him
Did you ever see this video? I think it was maybe from San Antonio
or maybe not but they had
like on a wall all these players
from the NBA and like
you never see like sometimes you see the basketball
with like the true hand size
so they had like the true
they had like an image of the player with their true
release points right and they had like this dude
who was like 6-2
it's like try to block Wembee shot
he took a running start
and jumping start and jump
jumped as high as he can.
He was this far away from even getting near it.
He doesn't even have to jump to dunk, dude.
No, it's crazy.
I will say this, though.
I put it in the chat and I will say this.
We have Robert Ory on Cousins and we asked him,
who's the big shot Bob for this series.
He picked your boy, Mikhail Bridges.
He said, that might be the guy.
I think for the same reason Matt, for the same reason, Matt said.
It's probably going to have to be a kickout.
Yeah, Jerry, you've had a love,
I feel like you've had a love-hate relationship with Kell Bridges.
I think Bridges, I think he's going to do.
Do you write this series, buddy?
A little bit, like, not it, look, most Nick fans, especially on my favorite app of X.
Bridges is like two bad games.
What a bust.
This guy's a bum.
Get him out.
But then two good games.
Everybody's like, fuck those picks.
We gave up.
Who cares?
I have always just thought with Bridges that, first of all, best availability.
Best ability is availability, right?
The dude does not miss the game in his entire career.
So just even being available on the floor all the time is huge and goes underrated.
I just think he's a playoff guy.
I'm not saying that means you get to fall asleep in the regular season for 10 games.
That's not good.
But history is now shown.
He's already played in the finals before.
So he tasted that young.
We saw what he did against Boston last year and the Pacers.
And historically, the moment come, he did it in college too.
The big moments come, that guy's just there.
So for me, the tradeoff is you're going to have 10 game stretches in the regular season where he is on break.
He's there, but he ain't there.
But the upside is like come playoff time
This is the guy you want Garden Maxi
Or fucking Deerrin Fox
And this is the guy you could count on
They hit a big shot
But this is gonna be his biggest
His biggest moment
Matt with the hard question
Matt's really going after me
I think the matchups great
Because Castle is a great defender
I mean is he gonna be on Brunson
I mean there's just gonna be some good matchups in this
Pat on Wembe is that what we're doing
You know I don't know
All signs point to OG
By the time this airs, we'll know.
But I think going into it, it's like all,
you throw everything you can at him and just trying to wear him out.
I think the other way around is the question, too, is Wembe on Cat,
which means Wendy's a little further from, he's a little further from the basket
and, you know, create these things.
He, at least in, you got to imagine he's going to be on Josh Hart
playing free safety, like Ed Reed.
We were going to do which sport has the best championship.
I thought about this long and hard too.
in the championship sense with sports, Matt.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts,
because I have a take for you, of course,
shockingly, right?
I have a take.
This one is so hard, man,
because, like, I enjoy,
I mean, I could easily say the Super Bowl.
I played in it.
It's the greatest,
it's the biggest spectacle
in our country every year.
But for me, it's a little more nostalgia
and it's a little more tradition
and it's baseball.
It's World Series Game 7.
And for the reason of just personally,
I'm a baseball guy. I love baseball. I love everything about it. And like October,
cloudy night, I don't think there's any better like world. And it's the World Series game seven and
the walkoffs that we've had and all that. I just think there's a, there's a nostalgia about the World Series
and baseball. And the World Series has given us some of the greatest moments in baseball history.
So Stanley Cup is there. I think Super Bowl. I think, I think NBA,
finals game seven is there but for me it's world series i listen i i'm actually aligned with you like
the super bowl is the greatest spectacle ever but those guys at that point are used to like lose and go
home right like so i'm not saying it doesn't matter as much but we love football i think because
it is every game in the playoffs is a game seven so if you translate that to the other sports look
basketball game sevens we've watched a bunch this year they're amazing hockey game sevens
arguably have the most excitement the thing i love matt to your point
about game sevens with baseball,
whether you're out the game
or watching at home.
Baseball gives you enough time
to let it breathe the moment.
So like you and I could literally talk
for 20 seconds about what this fucking moment
means. Like holy shit dude.
He's got a foot runner. Like we could talk about
five scenarios and he still hasn't
hit his wind up yet. It settles for a minute.
You know, you have enough time to process
the moment. And those other sports are so fast.
There's just something about a lot,
like a walk off home run,
just trotting around the base is a game.
I don't know, dude.
It's just something about it, man.
Yeah.
Last year was incredible, dude.
Like, come on.
Yeah.
Well, I mean,
not even Dodgers,
but like the Cubs and the Cubs won the World Series.
And that was just a hundred years of suffering from the fan base.
Like,
there's just something about it,
dude.
That's like,
it's fucking awesome.
So.
Yeah.
I agree.
I agree.
I tried to like wrap my head around basketball,
but,
um,
they're all awesome,
dude.
They're all awesome.
Stanley Cup in person.
I was going to say this too.
I went to the King's Stanley Cup clincher when they beat the Rangers.
Alec Martinez.
That hurt.
Jazz hands.
And I was there for a championship.
And I was there with Cole.
And it was one of the coolest moments of my life.
So being like that,
that's pretty impressive too.
But just something about.
Have you ever been to a Lakers game for a clincher?
Because now you got Dodgers clincher.
You got Kings clincher.
No.
I've been to a,
have I ever been to a Lakers finals?
You were at a USC.
clincher because you played in the fucking game. I want to say I went through a Lakers Celtics game.
But it wasn't a clincher. No. No, I haven't. Maybe I haven't. Maybe I haven't. No, not in basketball.
Well, it's going to be awesome. Let us know your thoughts on social too. Which sport has the best
game seven or championship moment. We're going to start wrapping up here.
Two quick things too. As a throwback, you know, we like to honor the things that have happened
before us. You know, I saw Matt, like maybe the coolest retirement ever.
as Clint Eastwood has formerly retired
from directing
to legendary career.
I had the
chance to do a movie of his,
but again, very, very small part.
Half of it got cut out.
But I worked, I think,
three days on the set of Sully.
And the things that stick out
are very much,
not a whole lot of takes.
That was always the urban legend.
Oh, he only does one take.
We even made a joke on Entourage about it.
He only does one take
and just pockets all the money.
That part's not.
true. He doesn't
call action, at least not on this
movie. Like he'll come over, talk
you through it, and he just say to you, when you're
ready. And then he has his own monitor,
he walks off. Start when you're
ready. And then me and this other actor
were just there and like, should I go?
I'm just going to go. Right.
There you go. That's kind of weird. It's kind of different.
I think the other thing, now again, I don't know
if this is true for all his movies, but I think at the time
it was, you know,
there has to be union lunch breaks
and all that stuff. I feel like
historically his sets are,
and he has had the same crew forever.
And it's like the choice.
You come to work every day
and it's like, hey,
we could break for lunch
like we all normally do
and we'll work the full 12, 13 hour day.
Or we could not break for lunch,
still like eat a little bit
and then we'll leave an hour early.
We'll end an hour early.
I feel like everybody's down for a hour.
Everyone always took the lunch,
fuck the lunch break.
Yeah, you don't need it.
Just shoutouts.
Like on the list of actors turned directors,
he's probably,
number one, so many hits.
I just started looking.
I'm going to shout out some random names.
The OG legends, Charlie Chaplin, and Orson Wells.
We know modern day you got like Ben Affleck is someone who talks about.
Ben Affleck's great director.
And more to come, right?
He's still doing.
Pete Berg, guy we both know.
Our boy.
Shout to Pete.
Acts from time to time, but television and movies before that.
Ron Howard, obviously, a name that we know for back in the day.
But someone else, too, you got to give flowers to jump.
Don Farrow from Swimmers.
Dude. Unbelievable.
Iron Man.
He's maybe the goat because like,
like Iron Man, the whole Marvel stuff.
Now he's in the Star Wars universe.
Like, you know, he may be the goat.
Mel Gibson.
Mel Gibson and Braveheart, dude.
Braveheart, passions.
Like, of course Mel Gibson.
Rob Reiner, rest in peace.
One of my favorite directors of all time.
I think Bradley Cooper, too, is won.
Bradley Cooper.
I mean, Stars Born.
He won Oscars for that.
Nick's fans.
Ben Stiller directing a lot of good movies.
Cable Guy.
Did he directed cable guy?
I believe he directed Cable Guy.
Yes.
Severance, you know, he directs the show Severance.
And then Jordan Peel also, too, just went from Key and Peel to like, hey, I'm going to hit you with three of the best and biggest, like, horror thrillers in our generation.
Shout out to Clint Eastwood, Hall of Fame director, the Hall of Fame actor.
Last thing before we go.
do you have a Knicks chat?
Do you have a fire up Nix chat with Ben Stiller and Timothy Shalame and Tracy Morgan and the celebrity row or no?
I wouldn't call the chat.
I message with Ben Stiller a lot about only Nick stuff.
Like we've never talked about any careers like ever.
It's never been like dude, I love severance or he never still like, hey, no, it's like, fuck, why do we trade for McHale Bridges?
It's only, legitimately only Nick stuff.
And I'll even hit him like if I know I'm going to a game like you're going to be there tonight.
and he's been there for like months.
He might be secretly making a documentary
about this season too
because it's like on the court footage.
It's so interesting when you have a director
sitting courtside dude like it just
it's perfect. We're gonna post that.
Is Ben Stiller making a...
Is he making like a secret Nix documentary
in the event they win the championship?
Who knows?
That would be sick.
So, no, Timothy Shalameh.
No, I don't say we would like text it about Nick stuff.
It's not like actively.
I mean, your friend's,
with Bronson and Hart, did you hit them up?
Would you hit them up before the series?
No, I don't see.
This is where you and I differ.
Like, you text Justin Thomas the night before the Masters.
Let's-L-G, let's fucking go.
I don't.
If they're on social, I'm not, no, I'm blackout.
Media text guy from a half a celebrity like me.
Out, blackout.
All right, man.
Well, all right.
Go, Nick.
Matt, thanks for putting the screws to me.
We will be back next week.
And I just hope I'm smiling.
by this point next week.
You might see a very different name.
I feel good about it, dude.
I feel good about it for you.
All right.
Peace out, everyone.
