Starting point is 00:00:00 John Edward Robinson. It is crazy that a movie has not been made yet about this deranged evil genius's life. You wouldn't have to dramatize anything. If the film just portrayed this guy accurately, a lot of people would still be convinced the producers added a bunch of details to make the movie more insane and dramatic. Nope. This guy was a true menace to society. John Edward Robinson is a serial killer still alive today in prison, known primarily as the Slave Master, or as the internet's first serial killer. But that doesn't really begin to describe this complicated maniac. Robinson had been a con artist for
Starting point is 00:00:35 roughly four decades by the time he was finally arrested for good. In the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, he forged degrees and certifications, embezzled money from numerous employers, duped countless people, some of the members of his own family in various complex scams, and outside of one prison stretch in the late 80s and early 90s, he was rarely punished for any of that. Then when he was in prison for various financial crimes, he was introduced to the internet right after it came out to the public in the early 90s and he quickly became a computer whiz. And when he got out of prison, he used the web to further his criminal career and to find more people who
Starting point is 00:01:13 shared his kink. John had long been interested in and participated in the world of BDSM, bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism. John loved a woman in bondage gear. A slave he could punish, submit and dominate. A masochist who would indulge his sadistic fantasies. Someone who would see him as their master. Someone he could control in every conceivable way. Before the internet, John claimed to be a member of the International Council of Masters, a secret organization where men and women played master and slave roles, but not always consensually on the part of the women. He then took his sexual desires to the web and began exploring online chat rooms, the very
Starting point is 00:01:57 beginning of chat rooms, where he could take on different personas and lead different lives and talk to women all over the world about the secret kinky desires they kept hidden from anyone they knew in real life. By the time he personas and lead different lives and talk to women all over the world about the secret kinky desires they kept hidden from anyone they knew in real life. By the time he started surfing the web, John was an expert on leading a secret life. He'd lived so many himself. One side of him was a loving, church-going, happily married, faithful father who could charm just about anyone into investing into one of his fake companies. The other side of him was habitually unfaithful. A terrible husband who looked to other women to fulfill the sexual desires
Starting point is 00:02:30 he didn't feel his wife could. And still another side of him, a much darker side, was a serial killer. And John was already a killer long before the internet started. And I could go on and on and on, and I will, once we get started today. The life and so many crimes of John Edward Robinson the slave master this week on another true crime serial killer how the hell did this guy get away with all the shit he did for so long are you ready for true sexual ascension pig edition of Time Suck. This is Michael McDonald and you're listening to Time Suck. Happy Monday. Welcome or welcome back to the Cult of the Curious. I'm Dan Cummins, the Master Sucker.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Guy who probably wouldn't actually do well in a duel, despite the many high noon showdown fantasies I've had over the years. BDSM fan, but not nearly as into it as today's subject. And you are listening to Time Suck. And after Mr. Alexander Hamilton, ha ha ha, we're right back to Filth. Fascinating Filth.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Oh, I have so much to share with you today. No dilly dallying this week. There's no time for it. No setting up any context. I just have too much story to tell. Sometimes it's hard to find, you know, very much information about our topics. Not this week. We know plenty about John Edward Robinson. Despite all the secrets he will surely take to his grave. So we're going to jump right into a timeline to find out how JR became a killer, learn how he took some of his many, many, many financial scams from newspapers to the internet,
Starting point is 00:04:21 and go over how he met and lured so many victims into his deadly, deadly traps. John Edward Robinson was born on December 27, 1943 in Cicero, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where he was a sad little mongrel bitchwimp of a child. He kind of was, actually. According to former FBI profiler John Douglas and his co-author Stephen Singular in their 2003 book, Anyone You Want Me To Be, our primary source this week, he would not grow up to be a large boy or a strong one. He would not impress others with his large physical prowess or good looks. If he was going to have power,
Starting point is 00:05:10 he would have to find creative ways of getting it and using it and oh boy would he do that. Also rest in peace Steven Singular, the prolific author of two dozen nonfiction books recently died at his home in Denver, Colorado, February 11th, 2024, at the age of 73. We have used some of his other books and articles as fantastic sources in several other episodes. He was a wonderful true crime author and journalist. Back to our subject, the dirtbag Stephen wrote about. John Edward Robinson, who often went by the nickname of JR,
Starting point is 00:05:41 was the third of five children. His parents were Henry and Alberta. JR disliked his older brother, Henry Jr. for unknown reasons. I don't know, maybe Henry can see right through him. But he was fond of his younger brother, Donald. Donald, not fond of John anymore though. Holy shit to JR epically. Mind fuck his brother.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Just fuck his brother's whole world up, as you will learn later. His two sisters are Joanne and Mary Ellen growing up. He was closer to Joanne Mary Ellen probably also saw through him Guessing he doesn't have much to do with his siblings any of them anymore The Robinson or that they don't have anything to do with him the Robinson family lived in a well-kept but modest home in Cicero Gangster Al Capone based himself in Cicero after he moved to Chicago in 1919, got into a gunfight one time with the police on Cicero Avenue that killed his brother. JR's father Henry was living nearby as a child when that happened. Henry Robinson worked for many years as a machinist for Western Electric Company founded in 1869 in Chicago, a subsidiary of AT&T. The company did close its doors for the first for the final time in 1996, long after Henry left. Authors Douglas and Singular
Starting point is 00:06:49 described Henry as a steady presence in his family. JR would later say that his dad sometimes went on drinking binges, but overall he was a good dad and he had fond memories of his father from childhood. He would not say the same for Mama Alberta. Oh mother! He felt she was an overly cold and harsh mother. Too strict. So strict she made little JR want to grow up and punish other women over his fucked up mommy issues. She spanked him then he would grow up to want to spank other women. The circle of spanking. Akuma Matata started for JR with Mama. She demanded that her
Starting point is 00:07:24 children maintain a very neat and clean appearance and continually push them, push them too hard according to JR to always improve themselves. I don't think she was actually bad. I think JR was just fucked up from birth probably. JR was reportedly the most ambitious of his siblings. He wanted to get out of his blue-collar neighborhood and Cicero really make a name for himself. At the age of 13 JR showed signs that maybe he was destined for big things. He exhibited enough leadership skills and discipline to become an Eagle Scout and a senior patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 259 was also accepted into Chicago's Quigley Preparatory Seminary, a school for boys who are interested in possibly becoming Catholic
Starting point is 00:08:02 priests. His childhood ambition at this point was to not just become a priest but to live as a priest in the Vatican quickly was located next to Loyola University and is no longer around after closing in 2007 that Same year big year for young JR Robinson and 120 boy scouts traveled to London to give 120 other ones 120 Boy Scouts traveled to London to give 120 other ones to give a performance for none other than the Queen of England herself, Queen Elizabeth II at the famed West End Theatre of the Palladium. Robinson got to lead his troupe onto the stage. He was one of the first Americans to sing for the Queen and the youngest to appear at the venue. The Chicago Tribune did a whole story about the performance that appeared on the front page of the widely circulated paper in an article titled Chicago Boy Scout Leads
Starting point is 00:08:48 Troop to Sing for Queen. He must have been so pumped after the boys sang they gathered backstage to take a look at the celebrities who are also there for performances. According to the Chicago Tribune Judy Garland passed by them and JR went after her to shake her hand. And he reportedly said to her, You ever squirted Judy after being bound in a rope and fucked so hard in your tight little pussy while a real master tugs on your clit chain? No, he probably just talked that. He said, We Americans gotta stick together.
Starting point is 00:09:19 And then Judy said, You're right, and kissed the boy scout on the cheek. And I bet he started second guessing his celibate, priestly ambitions after getting that smooch from Judy Garland. In addition to being an incredibly accomplished actress, singer, and dancer, she was a full-on sex symbol in 1957. JR then returned to Cicero after this unusual experience and continued his schooling. He was a good student, but didn't excel,
Starting point is 00:09:41 and I would guess he was probably too smart for his classes, honestly. Him not excelling in all his classes did not temper his ambitions he still had big plans for his future. Richard Schottky old dickshot former scout leader of JR's told the Kansas City Star many years later he didn't talk a great deal but when he did talk it was to produce an effect that he wanted he was shrewd. He was aspiring to more than he was capable of, quite frankly. Oh, Richard, I don't think you really understood how much he was capable of.
Starting point is 00:10:12 I don't know if you were smart enough to understand how bright JR actually was. JR graduated from Quigley in 1961 at the age of 17, did not, of course, enter the priesthood. He entered the underworld. Maybe. kind of briefly With Cicero's history of gangsters JR knew he could make some money from illegal activities So he started doing favorites or small jobs for quote low-level underworld characters By the fall of 1961 JR was already done trying to make it as some sort of gangster Kind of he of course would not be done with crime
Starting point is 00:10:43 He has so much crime ahead of him, but he will no longer like work with a gang. He'll work as a solo act. And now for the moment he enrolls at Morton Junior College in Cicero. GR would later claim he became a fully trained medical x-ray technician. He did not. Doesn't seem that he ever graduated with any sort of degree from Morton. He bragged that he received further training at the West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Nope. Also bullshit.
Starting point is 00:11:12 But his bullshit claims did land him a real job, back when it was harder to fact check people's resumes in the x-ray department of a Chicago hospital. And while working in the medical field in 1964 when JR was 20, he also met a pretty young woman named Nancy Jo Lynch. Her age not listed in sources, but the only Nancy Jo Lynch I could find living in Chicago in 1964 who would have been born around the same year as John was a Nancy Jo born in 1944 who sure looks a lot like his future wife. I'm assuming that you know this is her and that the two are roughly the same age. One thing led to another and JR's
Starting point is 00:11:51 ween ended up in Nancy's vagina, probably tripped and fell, landed on her or something because they weren't married and she became pregnant. They quickly got married and then JR returned to work at the hospital. Authors Douglas and Singular wrote that the marriage was an embarrassment for JR's family because Nancy was pregnant at the time of the marriage. That pregnancy would not lead to a child seems they suffered a miscarriage. The two of them would stay married though actually they will stay married for over four decades despite numerous incidents of infidelity and criminal behavior, infidelity and
Starting point is 00:12:24 criminal behavior on JR's part. According to again authors Douglas and Singular, the young couple were starting a marital dance that would last to every imaginable kind of turmoil and survive into the next millennium. From the beginning they were locked together by mutual need, a need so deep that apparently nothing could break it. Marriage brought new pressures into Jaira's life. Wanting to be the big man, provide more for his wife and child than his job allowed, he started to turn to financial scams to increase his income.
Starting point is 00:12:55 He started stealing from the hospital he worked at, and pretty soon he got caught. His superior is confrontative about it, and he pleaded for another chance. He promised to pay back everything if they just didn't report him to the police. Well the hospital agreed and did not pursue charges. But now that his extra income stream washed up and embarrassed by this incident, JR quit and he and Nancy will move to Kansas City, Missouri sometime in 1965. And in Kansas City the two of them will go on to have four children together. John Jr. born in 1965, daughter Kimberly born in 1967, and then twins Christopher and Christine
Starting point is 00:13:31 born in 1971. And according to an article in Vanity Fair, the kids were quote, well behaved and popular. John Jr. would help his dad with household projects. The twins helped take care of the neighbor's pets. Christine would be one of her father's main defenders after his final arrest. Seems like the family was pretty close. In Missouri, JR soon faked his way into a job doing pediatric x-rays at Children's Mercy Hospital. He talked about all his medical training, presented letters of recommendation from
Starting point is 00:14:02 Morton College. He had documents claiming he was a medical lab technologist, a nuclear medical technologist, a radiographic technologist, all four documents. His colleagues thought he was outgoing and friendly, but their opinions changed when I actually saw him trying to do the jobs he was not qualified for. He noticed that JR was clumsy and awkward with babies and children, and he talked to infants like they were adults. It also seemed like he didn't know how to take or read any x-ray results. I love the weird detail of talking to babies like adults. I picture him talking to some newborn just named, you know, whatever, Jonathan Wilson. Just like this.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Hello, Mr. Wilson. How are you feeling today? How is your fever? Looking over your charts, it appears you have not been eating much. Would you care to talk about that? Are you just not happy with the food choices here? Are your diapers too tight? What's going on? Do you know that we have a lot of different flavors?
Starting point is 00:14:58 If you don't care for sweet potato puree or apple, strawberry, banana, perhaps I could interest you in some butternut squash? Perhaps some green beans? I'm sorry. What was that, Mr. Wilson? I'm sorry to say I'm having an incredibly difficult time understanding anything you're saying. This other side of this conversation is just a fucking four-day-old baby. Ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh ehh e Yeah JR's co-workers were confused, but they also assumed that he wouldn't have got the job if he didn't have training they figured he's just nervous You know, he's new he'll get better with time
Starting point is 00:15:30 No, he would not This time Missouri and Kansas did not require x-ray techs to be licensed when JR told his employers. He was trained They just believed him looked at a little documents. He forged and was like, okay, cool hired him In addition to not exactly blown away superiors and colleagues at his new job with his amazing medical skills, JR also quickly developed a reputation for leaving his wife at home and heading out to go clubbing around Kansas City. Also hit on women incessantly at the hospital,
Starting point is 00:15:57 coworkers and patients, and would have affairs with several of his female coworkers and God knows how many patients. He took full on advantage of the wild swing in sixties. Eventually Children's Mercy fired JR for incompetence and also for his affairs. Sometime in late 1965, he didn't even last a year. It's actually impressive that he lasted like a week, more than a week, considering he didn't know how to do his job.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Dude quit after getting caught stealing from his first job. Now he gets fired for being an incompetent womanizer to second. Not quite living up to the potential he seemed to have when he was a young Eagle Scout and troop leader, you know, getting sent over to London. He was hired as a lab tech and office manager next at Fountain Plaza X-ray in either late 1965 or early 1966. This business was owned by Dr. Wallace Graham. Dr. Graham was actually once US President Harry Truman's personal physician. JR made a great first impression
Starting point is 00:16:52 on Dr. Graham. Unfortunately, Dr. Graham, pretty gullible. In fact, President Truman even once warned him about his naivete. In 1946, Truman had written a letter to Graham's father praising him, but noting that he is entirely too accommodating. The young doctor will work himself to death if he lets all the chisllers take advantage of him. Robinson happened to be one of those chisllers. Working for Dr. Graham, JR put up his fake certificates on the wall, tried to seduce colleagues and female patients, and this time started, of course, stealing money again. By late 1966 the office lost so much money they couldn't give out Christmas bonuses like they'd
Starting point is 00:17:29 done every year in the past. There was a lot of talk about JR's poor performance on the job being the reason. Then a few months later a co-worker alleged that he was embezzling funds. When the doctor's office manager looked into this claim they estimated that he had already stolen over $100,000, possibly up to $300,000. Money they will never get back. Money he probably hid. Robinson, when caught, tried to say he hadn't stolen anything. He was just transferring some money between accounts. It was a big misunderstanding. Then he tried his old tactic of offering to pay Dr. Graham back. Dr. Graham was done being duped by this scumbag and he called the police. J.R. was arrested now in August of 1969 after his trial was finally concluded.
Starting point is 00:18:10 He was convicted of stealing by means of deceit and he was sentenced to three years probation unfortunately. So now he quits his first job after being caught stealing, gets fired from second job for having affairs and being incompetent, then gets fired from his third job where he hit on both co-workers and patients for stealing and he gets arrested and convicted of theft. Despite all this bullshit, his wife Nancy Jo does not leave him. Not only does she not leave him, every time JR went to court, you know, in these instances in the coming years, she will testify as a character witness and talk about how he's a great husband, great father. Being married and having kids, according to authors Douglas and Singular,
Starting point is 00:18:47 appeared to bring out his wildness and his desire to break the law and to generate money any way he could. The more conventional one part of his life became, the more he explored the darker side of himself and others. The more his wife tried to help him, the more he violated the codes of marriage. He seemed to need the stability of marriage in order to give free rein to his deviancy. Once he
Starting point is 00:19:07 took on adult responsibilities he began searching the landscape for vulnerabilities in people and the places that employed him. While he was on probation JR next gets a job managing a TV rental company. It doesn't last long. He's fired after getting caught stealing TVs. Luckily for him, the owner does not press charges in this case. 1969. He's only been in Kansas City for four years at this point. JR now starts working as a systems analyst for Mobile Oil, a job he again is not qualified for. He put another bullshit resume together. His employer didn't do a background check again, so no one knew he was not only not qualified, but he was also on probation.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Speaking of his probation, he's doing a great job bullshitting his probation officers as well. The Missouri Board of Probation and Parole wrote a letter stating that JR does not appear to be an individual who is basically inclined towards criminal activities and is motivated towards achieving middle-class values. A second officer wrote that he was responding extremely well to probation.
Starting point is 00:20:08 No, he's not. The second officer encouraged him to advance his career as far as he could with mobile oil. But of course he wouldn't. Within months he'll fuck up and get fired again. JR was accused of stealing 6200 stamps valued at $400. I'm sure he stole a whole bunch more than that. He was not only fired but again also charged with theft this time and only avoids jail time by paying restitution. Now JR and Nancy decide to move back to Chicago in 1970 where they have some family where JR is able to get a job as an insurance salesman at a company called RB Jones. Yet again he lies on his resume, lies in
Starting point is 00:20:43 his job interview, pretends to be qualified for yet another job. He has no fucking clue how to pull off. This guy is unreal. He makes such a good first impression in his interview that no one in the company does a background check, and he's essentially hired on the spot. But then, just a few months later, he's fired after being caught embezzling over $5,500 this time. He just doesn't even wait. He doesn't even wait to settle in before he starts stealing from wherever he happens to work This guy is like a character like character played by Dean winter and all those all-state commercials He is just pure mayhem just mayhem personified
Starting point is 00:21:16 Again, he avoids jail time by agreeing to pay restitution and the charges are eventually dismissed now Jr. Decides he wants to start his own company He also thinks about how he has more business connections in Kansas City, around Kansas and Missouri. Not sure how he did since he got fired from every job he held there, but somehow he did and he and Nancy consider moving back. And then they realized they kind of have to move back when a Chicago court informs a Kansas court that JR broke the law in Illinois and JR is ordered to return to the Kansas City area
Starting point is 00:21:45 where his probation is now extended another three years. What a mess. They now settle in Raytown, Missouri, a suburb just a few miles southeast of downtown Kansas City. JR opens a medical consulting firm there called Professional Services Association, Inc. PSA. The first of many, many fake businesses he will open and close. This one doesn't even last a year. JR goes to jail briefly in 1971 for a parole violation. His probation officer at the time, Gordon Morris, issued a strong recommendation for him to serve significant time based on Gordon looking into JR's troubling history of scams and theft.
Starting point is 00:22:21 But JR will only spend a few weeks in the county jail. Once back out, JR, now 27, creates an investment scam designed to steal $30,000 from a retired school teacher named Evely McKnight. Somehow he does not get arrested for this scam attempt or sent back to jail for a parole violation. And then within months he presents himself to the University of Kansas Medical School as a financial consultant now. He's a financial consultant for their family practices department. God, he just won't quit with this bullshit. The physicians at the university are impressed by his
Starting point is 00:22:51 professional appearance and very confident manner. Of course he's very confident. He is a con man, a confidence man. J.R. was, you want to guess, fired a few months later for suspected theft. How the fuck does his wife stay with him? He is not the only one in this marriage who keeps doubling down on terrible decisions. JR next approaches John Hartling, the executive director of Marion Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company based in Kansas City, Missouri. JR asks Hartling to invest in his made-up business, Professional Service Association, PSA. asks Hartling to invest in his made-up business, Professional Service Association,
Starting point is 00:23:25 PSA. He's returned to this nonsense now. Hartling declines and now J.R. forges a letter from Marion Laboratories to himself. It seems as if he managed to steal some stationery at his job interview, suggesting that the company does want to acquire PSA. And then J.R. sends copies of this fake-ass letter about his fake-ass company to potential investors with Heartland's forged Signature on the bottom. He's such a menace Literally a menace to society the letter refers to Marion's founder Ewing Kaufman
Starting point is 00:23:55 It was also the owner of the Kansas City Royals professional baseball team at this time And quick shout out to the Royals incredible young shortstop 24 year old Bobby Witt jr. Holy shit He's been lights out this season as I record this he leads the American League with a 349 batting average to go along with 24 home runs 102 runs already 89 RBI 25 stolen bases with over a month left in the season just incredible playing like a future first ballot Hall of Famer Back to this topic a businessman named Mac Cahal receives JR's scam letter, gives $2,500 to PSA, and then decides to call the Royals owner, Kaufman, and talk about this new investment that, you know, Kaufman's obviously a part of. Well, Kaufman, just a bit angry when he finds out his name is
Starting point is 00:24:37 being used in this scam, and he contacts the SEC, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Investigators are soon sent out to look into JR and his PSA quote-unquote company. Two years later, after JR continues to invent more companies and run more scams, a federal grand jury in Missouri will indict him on four counts of false representation, securities fraud and mail fraud. Six months after the indictment, in 1976 now, JR will take a plea deal and plead guilty to interstate securities fraud and serve no time. Slippery motherfucker still avoids jail. He's fined $2,500 and his probation is extended for
Starting point is 00:25:14 three more years, but who cares because he just does whatever he wants on his probation. Thanks to his plea, not only does he not have to go to jail, he also doesn't have to pay back the money he stole from investors. So that's cool. So he just keeps learning that he can just keep stealing from people. And if he gets caught, oh well. Another parole extension. Whatever. Another small fine.
Starting point is 00:25:35 America's criminal justice system failing here. He didn't have to pay in part because it looked like he was broke on paper. He listed his monthly household income as $1,700. And yet, since his twins were born five years earlier He has been steadily providing for a family of six and now he's about to buy a huge home for everybody Or a huge a nice home a big home in a great neighborhood How would he be able to do this? Well investigators will later speculate that for every person that came forward that he scammed There were way way more people who did not come forward out of shame and embarrassment
Starting point is 00:26:07 and he just got to keep all their money money he never had to pay taxes on he also never paid back all the restitution he owed several former employers people he very likely stole hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars from in total so not only does this pathetic worm of a man not only go not get sent to prison or be heavily fin, or be ordered to pay back what he stole in full, he's likely sitting on several hundred grand in stolen money he has hidden somewhere. In July of 1977, the Robinson family moves into a wealthy neighborhood in Stanley, Kansas, another Kansas City suburb.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Stanley was an unincorporated community at the time and was later absorbed by the larger suburb of Overland Park in 1985. J.R. purchased a nine-room house on three acres for $125,000 cash. Wonder where he got that? The house located in the upscale Pleasant Valley Farms neighborhood. At the time, Pleasant Valley Farms had rolling hills, a lake full of fish, a beautiful place close to the city-big H-O-A system, the back of JR's property, you could find traces of the Oregon and Santa Fe trails. Stanley was one of the wealthiest suburban areas in the U.S. at this time, according to authors John Douglas and Stephen Singular, also close to the Missouri border. According to Vanity Fair's coverage of this case, the
Starting point is 00:27:23 people of Johnson County felt a bit superior to their Missouri neighbors, and once you crossed into Kansas there was a different feeling. The light seemed brighter, the landscape less dingy. The Kansans were richer, smarter, nicer, gentler. This is where he's living. Most of JR's new neighbors thought he was a devoted father, very successful entrepreneur, and dedicated family man. Not sure how he's able to convince his parole officers that he bought his new home legitimately, but he did. In Stanley he participates in his son John Jr.'s Eagle Scouts troop, he teaches Sunday school at his local Presbyterian Church, even dresses up as
Starting point is 00:27:57 Santa at Christmas time and referees some local volleyball games. He gets elected to lead the Pleasant Valley Homeowners Association, cleans up the fish pond and cleans up some local horse trails. When you look at photos of John from this time, he looks like a totally normal, well-to-do dad. Looks like a nice guy. You know, just clean cut, no tattoos, short hair, crisp collared shirts, jeans or slacks, leather dress shoes.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Man, some of these guys are so good at just being wolves and sheep's clothing. Some of his neighbors will later report that they heard him screaming at his wife and kids and there were stories that he hit Nancy and fed his horses. Yes, he has fucking horses now. So little. They're on the verge of starvation. But at the time, anyone seeing shit like this is not confronting him about it and not going to the authorities. Also around this time, JR starts another new business, Hydro Grow Incorporated. Hydro Grow was in theory a hydroponics company. Hydroponics, the practice of growing vegetables indoors
Starting point is 00:28:54 in nutrient rich environments. And yes, it is popular with people who like to grow the devil's lettuce. JR wrote a 64 page booklet titled, Fun with Home Hobby Hydroponics. And his motto was, if it grows, with home hobby hydroponics and his motto was if it grows it grows better hydroponically, it's not bad actually His pamphlet claimed that he was one of the pioneers of hydroponics
Starting point is 00:29:12 He wasn't and that he was a sought-after lecturer consultant and author. He wasn't Some of JR's neighbors would later say he could be condescending and rude when they asked him about this business or when they refused to invest in it. JR's investors, of course, were just more of his victims. One poor bastard invested 25 grand in this business, hoping to make enough money back quickly to pay for his dying wife's medical bills. John has no soul. This guy, of course, lost the full 25 grand and his wife died. This guy of course lost the full 25 grand and his wife died. In late 1977, well, J.R., Johnny, still Swindlin' Hydroponics Investors, he also fabricates an elaborate publicity stunt to make himself seem like the wonderful benefactor of the
Starting point is 00:29:56 city. December 8, 1977, the Kansas City Times runs an article naming John Robinson the Man of the Year for his work on the board of a workshop that employed disabled people. God what a great guy! What a saint! But then after the release of this article the Times receives a whole bunch of outraged phone calls from people who supposedly gave JR this award. This guy is such a fucking grifter. JR orchestrated the entire thing with a sequence of fake letters sent to City Hall. The Times learned that JR made the
Starting point is 00:30:24 plaque, promoted himself, organized the entire luncheon sent to City Hall. The Times learned that JR made the plaque, promoted himself, organized the entire luncheon held in his honor. The Times then released another article later titled, Man of the Year Ploy Backfires on Quote Honoree, which exposed how he organized the whole scam. But he didn't get any legal trouble. The scandal did prove to finally almost be too much for his wife Nancy. I'm sure all the neighbors were talking about it. She was embarrassed. She now starts surveilling her husband. She follows him around to see who he is meeting, what is he telling people. She confronts him about being a con artist.
Starting point is 00:30:56 She threatens to end the marriage, even kicks him out of the house at one point. But the kids beg to have their dad back and she relents and lets him come home. Man. By 1980, Nancy's still upset and she's seriously considering filing for a divorce but decides to wait things out a little bit longer. And what a terrible decision. How many times does this guy have to fuck up before you realize he is a piece of shit? Just a terrible person. Did I mention he has been continually, as in like non-stop, cheating on her this entire marriage. He will fuck anything that moves
Starting point is 00:31:26 She never mentions how many times he had affairs. I don't think she really knew but she would catch him frequently and would just always stay JR is released from federal probation in back in 1979 or was released and his probation officer wrote that he hoped JR will continue To reap the rewards of good citizenship He's so good at fooling people will continue to reap the rewards of good citizenship. He's so good at fooling people. For some reason, JR's hydroponics scam dries up. Maybe Nancy threatened to leave him if he didn't stop at that ship. Now JR gets a job as the Employees Relations Manager, and no he is not qualified for this position, at Guy's Snack Foods in Liberty, Missouri, yet another suburb of Kansas City. Kansas City has about a thousand suburbs, or at least it feels that way
Starting point is 00:32:06 This one is a company that makes well, you know snack foods potato chips that kind of stuff His employer thought he was good with people and intelligent Yeah intelligent good at scamming people. It was a solid job that paid well, and of course JR will almost immediately fuck it up He quickly has an affair starts an affair with one of the secretaries, and also starts stealing from the company pretty much immediately. Oh, and he used some of the money he stole to rent an apartment in Olathe, Kansas, another Casey suburb, where he takes other women he's fucking. Also, several newscasters I watched have pronounced Olathe, Kansas that way. I hope they were correct because the word
Starting point is 00:32:42 is spelled O-L-A-T-H-E. American towns. People have taken a lot of liberty over the years with how these words are said. Within a few months of getting this new job he had already stolen tens of thousands of dollars and the secretary who is hooking up with is madly in love with him. And this affair now backfires. She ends up telling JR he can either leave his wife and marry her, which I'm guessing he has been promising her he'll do just to get in her pants, or she will go to the police and report the money he's stealing.
Starting point is 00:33:10 JR refuses to leave Nancy, so she reports him. He now gets fired at the end of 1980 and Guy's Snack Food presses felony theft charges. The company also files a civil lawsuit to try and get their money back. Well, JR settles out of court, agrees to guys $50,000 in restitution. Also pleads guilty to stealing a $6,000 check. He now faces a maximum sentence of seven years, but of course he'll weasel out of that. He'll be sentenced to just 60 days in the Clay County Jail. Be let out early and get another five years of worthless probation. Again, Nancy stays. She once again considers divorce, and many of her friends encourage her to please for the love of God, Nance! Run as fast and as far as you can from this piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:33:53 She and her husband will see a marriage counselor who will convince her to stay. Oy vey. After this latest scandal, what do you think JR does? Yep, he opens up another fake company. I mean, I hate to admit it, but at this point, I'm impressed. He still has his big ass house, probably has hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed away after everything he's done. I'm sure he did so much more that we'll never know about.
Starting point is 00:34:18 He's only served about, what, two months? County jail, got a bunch of probation that clearly doesn't really get in the way of his scams. This new fake company is called Equiplus. It offers management consulting services and introduces various products to the marketplace in theory. But not really since it's just more made-up bullshit. Speaking of bulls, one fake product they supposedly made was a device to just was a device to store bull sperm. Nope.
Starting point is 00:34:44 JR actually rented a suite in Overland Park that served as the company office for a company that didn't actually fucking do anything. Soon a real local company called Backcare Systems hires EquiPlus to create a marketing plan for them. Backcare conducted corporate seminars on treating employees' back pain. And I am not sure why a company based in back care would want to work with the Company that makes bull sperm storage units, but you know, whatever I'm guessing JR just told people that his company did whatever they needed the company to do
Starting point is 00:35:13 Equal plus ended up sending back care systems invoices that were suspiciously high And back care systems didn't want to pay for shit that they weren't actually getting feeling like they were being scammed because they were shit that they weren't actually getting. Feeling like they were being scammed, because they were, the back care system CEO hired a private investigator to gather info on JR's history and activities and they went to the Johnson County DA's office with what they found and then the DA launched an investigation. JR in return now lawyers up and his lawyer tells him the best thing he can do to defend himself would be to obtain affidavits from real customers, you know, who said that his very real business was totally legit. So JR went and got obtain affidavits from real customers, you know, who said that his very real business was totally legit.
Starting point is 00:35:48 So JR went and got those affidavits. I mean, not really. He forged documents that were presented as being affidavits since the company had no real customers. However, it'll take a while for the DA to prove that the affidavits are fake, just like his company, and the investigation will continue for several years, being held up with legal wrangling, and we will come back to it later in the timeline. In 1984, JR, now 40 years old, still living the high life,
Starting point is 00:36:14 despite only holding down a few, I don't know, total years of actual employment over the course of his entire fucking life. He's still living on acreage in one of the nicest communities in the KC area, still providing for a family of six, still has horses, you know, nice house, plenty of money to have god knows how many affairs on the side of his marriage, women he might be taking to other places he might be renting. He has not voluntarily divulged shit that didn't help him, you know, not get punished further since his final arrest.
Starting point is 00:36:43 And there is still so much we don't know about a guy who is real damn good compartmentalizing and hiding who he really was and what he really did We do know that he now creates another fake fucking company. He is nothing if not consistent His new company is called equa to which provides in theory consulting services a completely worthless overpriced consulting services It's a medical agricultural and charitable ventures. You know, because he's an expert now and all that stuff. He leases a duplex on Troost Avenue in Kansas City for the new company's headquarters, but then instead of using the duplex as an office, he hires a sex worker to take over this building as a sort of madam and opens a quote profitable bordello. So now he's also sort of a pimp. And the rumor around town is that if you're into uh rough sex,
Starting point is 00:37:29 you know, sadomasochism, excuse me, hardcore BDSM shit, you could find what you wanted at this duplex. There were also rumors that JR was making some extra money selling coke from this place. You know, fuck it, why not? It's the 80s. It is a great time to sell some blow, in all fairness. from this place. You know, fuck it, why not? It's the 80s. It is a great time to sell some blow, in all fairness. Also, sources are not clear if he leased one unit of the duplex or the whole duplex. I think it was just one side. God, I hope so. And I hope, just for my own comedic amusement, that a nice conservative family lived in the other unit next to a BDSM bordello. Just little scenes, you know, little vignettesettes in my mind like they're trying to have a nice family dinner And how are you? How was school today Ezekiel? And then before Ezekiel can answer, you know
Starting point is 00:38:13 The whole family just hears two people just having hardcore BDSM sex just right through the wall from the unit next door Do you like that you little slut beg for it beg for that cock a beggar? I'll leave that fist in your ass all night. Ha ha, okay, family. Let's do our best not to listen to the sinners damning their souls to hell next door. Don't fall for the devil's temptations. Come, you little whore.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Squirt for your master. Squirt while you gag on your master's cock. Okay, let's pass the mashed potatoes to your sister, Ezekiel. How about Dad put you on a little record? How about we play one of Ray Price's gospel records right now? Drowning Daddy's cum slut. This is fucking craziness. 1984 was also the year that JR's crimes became violent if they hadn't already. At the very least, you know, by 1984 we know he
Starting point is 00:39:00 was violent. Violent with people other than his wife. If what his neighbor said he saw is true, may have already of course committed violent crimes. We just don't know about his first known victim was killed later this year and Before I share details of this first known slave master murderer time for our first of two mid show sponsor breaks Thank you so much for listening to those ads If you don't want to hear ads like those anymore Get the entire catalog ad free and more by signing up to be a Spacers on Patreon for just five duck- five bucks? I'm gonna say ducks. For five ducks a month you have to
Starting point is 00:39:31 fucking catch five ducks in a month in one month's time and send them to us. Now let's return to 1984 when JR escalates his financial crimes to include murder. In the summer of 1984 JR JR hires a 19-year-old woman named Paula Godfrey to work as a sales rep at his fake-ass Equa II. Paula had recently graduated high school in Olathe, Kansas a year earlier. She was an honor student, very talented figure skater, actually tried to get a job skating for Disney on ice, but was sick at the time of her audition, didn't quite make the cut, so she started looking for other jobs.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Paula was excited for the opportunity to work for Robinson because she thought he was this legit businessman. She thought she was getting in on the ground floor of this company that was blown up. He told her that he planned for her and several other young women to enroll in clerical skills training programs in San Antonio. And then Paula went missing on September 1st, 1984 after he picked her up at her parents' home to take her to the airport. Paula's father, Bill Godfrey, expected her to call him that evening or sometime within the next few days. But of course she never did. Bill was so worried he flew to San Antonio to look for her. He found out Paula never checked into the hotel she told him she was staying in. So he traveled back to Kansas City to find JR and confronted him at his Equi-2 office.
Starting point is 00:40:44 But JR, of course, consistently a smooth motherfucker. He acted like he had no idea what happened to Paula. Oh my god, I hope she's okay. Oh, I haven't heard from her either. Since I dropped her off at the airport, I'm also worried sick. Bill left after warning him there was going to be trouble if he didn't hear from Paula in the next three days. Then just after this confrontation, Bill receives a handwritten note postmarked in Kansas City, supposedly from Paula. She told her parents she was doing fine, grateful to JR for all his help.
Starting point is 00:41:12 She also said she didn't want to see her family for a while. The letter contained profanities, which was unlike her, and was signed, Love ya, Paula. But Bill didn't recognize the signature, and the grammar was off. He suspected JR had done something to her, but he couldn't prove anything. Paula. But Bill didn't recognize the signature and the grammar was off. He suspected JR had something done something to her but he couldn't prove anything. The Godfrey's then called the police to report Paula missing. JR gets questioned, tells officers he has no idea of course what happened to Paula. The Godfrey's gave the note to the Overland Park police and they concluded that the
Starting point is 00:41:39 note was legit and that Paula was probably doing fine. One probation officer was suspicious but felt there was nothing he could do. The officer wrote, as the girl was of age and there was no evidence of wrongdoing, Overland Park terminated their missing person investigation. Years later a business connection of JR's named Irv Blattner also found a letter supposedly written by Paula. Blattner will die of cancer in the early 90s but before he died he told a relative that JR was a dangerous person and that the relative should contact federal agents
Starting point is 00:42:09 if something ever happens to him. He added that he believed that JR was directly involved in Paula's disappearance. To this day, Paula Godfrey's body has not been found. But there's a very disturbing theory about what may have happened to her. Many years later, reports came out that JR was connected to the cult
Starting point is 00:42:24 of the International Council of Masters, ICM, described as a, quote, secret sadomasochistic group with members all over the world. According to again authors Douglas and Singular, the ICM was founded in London in 1921. A group of six professional men started a club to satisfy their kinkier sexual desires which revolved around sadism. The authors wrote the men had a common bond. They all wanted to be the dominant partner or master of submissive women known as slaves. One got into the club only after the founding members had determined that the initiates shared their tastes and could keep quiet about the cult.
Starting point is 00:43:00 The ICM developed a communal dungeon and each member contributed his own ideas and equipment for the purpose of sexual torture or rape. The masters wore purple robes, the slaves wore white robes with metal handcuffs. Slaves would be undressed in front of the group, a group of men, these masters, and then trained to do anything that was demanded of them. These slaves, always women, would be traded amongst the members and not all of these women joined the ICM voluntarily. The first meeting of the ICM supposedly took place in a warehouse basement in London May 13th, 1921. Eventually, the ICM would spread across Europe and later America.
Starting point is 00:43:37 JR allegedly learned about this group, decided to join because he's a piece of shit, interested in a very unhealthy, non-consensual form of BDSM sex. New members were judged on the ability to bring in new slaves, and JR was allegedly the top recruiter of his local branch and became known as the Slave Master. The young women he brought to the ICM were subservient to their masters, and anyone who tried to get out was subjected to violence or death if it came to that. No one knows how many young women became acquainted with JR in the 80s and ended up as slaves in the ICM. Did Paula Godfrey end up getting traded around this group? When his members
Starting point is 00:44:11 grew tired of playing with her, did they kill and dispose of her? Who knows. But I doubt that happened. Before moving forward, I want to add that I can't find any literature online about this organization. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to tracking shit down now. And the only info, I should say I can't find any information outside of information directly tied to articles about John Edward Robinson. Outside of him in this case, it doesn't seem like anyone else has ever talked about this group. Looking through some early Internet archive BDSM site pages,
Starting point is 00:44:41 I even found someone from some of the same online BDSM communities he was a part of, like these early internet ones, who pointed out that apparently there was a website for the International Council of Masters that JR had commissioned the creation of. He'd worked with somebody else to build this website. And so to me, this all reads like another JR scam. Alright, he's such a bullshit artist. I personally do not believe at all this organization has ever existed. I think John just made it up up act like it was real to make himself seem like a more Important member of the BDSM community than it really was right this guy loved to feel important He wasn't content scamming a bunch of people pretending to be a successful entrepreneur and family man
Starting point is 00:45:17 He had to take it further pretend to be man of the year and then in this in this other sexually deviant life of his He's not content just being another dude into BDSM. He's got to be the slave master, one of the most important members or one of the most hardcore BDSM clubs to ever exist. If the ICM did exist, I would probably try and contact him and ask him if they run any boot camps for wives who refuse to submit and I would send Lindsay. My god god she's still so independent. Maybe one of those dark masters could teach her how to follow the commands of her patriarch. Ugh. Speaking of submitted women, while
Starting point is 00:45:54 JR may have invented the International Council of Masters, he definitely created another scheme that would allow him to target young vulnerable women in 1984. December 18th of that year, parole officer, his parole officer, Steven Hames, receives a disturbing phone call. Hames was a district supervisor with the Missouri Board of Parole and Probation. And he was John Robinson's current probation officer.
Starting point is 00:46:15 And Hames was aware of JR's potential involvement in the disappearance of Paula Godfrey. However, the Godfrey investigation was not going anywhere. He was worried he was never gonna get the evidence he needed to arrest JR for her disappearance and likely murder. But then on December 18th, he received a call from another woman named Anne Smith.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Smith worked for Birthright, a local nonprofit that counseled young single mothers in need of support. Smith told her that John Robinson called Birthright a few days earlier, told her that he and 15 other businessmen started a philanthropic organization called Kansas City Outreach. the organization offered a six-month program that would provide job training, housing, and other assistance to single mothers. JR told Smith that he was on the board of a local bank. He was also a
Starting point is 00:46:55 member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stanley, Kansas. He even claimed in his typical hyperbolic style that major corporations like Xerox and IBM were funding his organization. JR wanted Birthright and the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City to refer candidates to him. He said that in December the center told JR that some young black mothers needed help but he was not interested in helping those women. He said that when the center called him about candidates for his program he always asked if they were black or white. This caused him concern he told her because it was known that white infants sold for a higher price in the black adoption
Starting point is 00:47:27 markets and black babies. Most of the mothers at Truman Medical Center were black and JR never offered help to them. And all this left Ann Smith thinking that JR was someone who wanted to steal some babies. Officer Hames took this information to local judge John Hutcherson. Hutcherson asked Hames to look into JR's possible involvement, learned what he could about his supposed charity for unwed mothers. But unfortunately, this all happened too late and JR was already a step ahead of Officer Ames. The Truman Medical Center had already referred a young mother to his quote-unquote program. 19-year-old Lisa Stasi, this motherfucker, scamming a
Starting point is 00:48:04 medical center to get them to hand over a young mother to him. Lisa Stasi. This motherfucker scamming a medical center to get them to hand over a young mother to him. Lisa Stasi was a young woman who'd already had a hard life. Her father died when she was a child, then one of her brothers died of suicide while she was still a kid as well. Her friend said she was lonely, vulnerable, gullible, but also desperately wanted to improve her life circumstances. In 1983, she moved to Kansas City, began a relationship with a Navy man named Carl Stasi. In August of 1984 they got married in Huntsville, Alabama. The next month Lisa gave birth to her daughter, their daughter, Tiffany. Right away the baby caused conflicts in their marriage. Carl reenlisted in the Navy. Lisa entered Hope House, a shelter for battered women
Starting point is 00:48:41 in Independence, Missouri. Which tells you exactly what kind of dude Carl was. Likely was. She was still living at Hope House when a social worker, Kathy Stackpole, told her about a businessman from the Kansas City area who wanted to help her. They unknowingly were literally delivering this poor woman right into the arms of a true monster. And her fucking baby. In early January 1985, Lisa met JR for the first time but she
Starting point is 00:49:05 would know him as John Osborne. He told Lisa he ran a company called Equa 2, promised her a silk screening job in Texas where she could make 800 bucks a month. Apparently this version of Equa 2 is making fucking t-shirts and posters now. You know, because why not? You know, it's truly amazing what your company can do when it only exists in your imagination. He added that if it didn't work out he would help Lisa get her high school diploma, also enroll her in a job training program outside of Chicago. What a great guy, just an altruistic angel of a human being. JR took Lisa, baby Tiffany from the custody of the Truman Medical
Starting point is 00:49:37 Center, placed Lisa and two other women at the Roadway Inn in Overland Park near the Equi-2 office you know Lisa just gonna be temporary housing while he finalized her travel plans. Then asked Lisa to sign four blank pieces of paper and to give him the names and addresses of her relatives. Said he needed this info so he could personally keep them updated of course you know once she left for Chicago. Uh-huh. January 9th 1985 Lisa and her baby girl Tiffany visit Lisa's sister-in-law Kathy Klingensmith in the middle of a blizzard Lisa told Kathy about the businessman who was gonna help her get a job help her just get her life back on track right away Kathy feels like this is bullshit. That's a bad feeling about it
Starting point is 00:50:16 Lisa calls the roadway in to check her messages learns that John Osborne was looking for at the motel She gave the hotel Kathy's info in case he called back was looking for at the motel. She gave the hotel Kathy's info in case he called back. Soon she was, or soon he was calling her at her sister-in-law's house telling her he's coming over to pick her up right away. Now Lisa tells Kathy that she's feeling unsure about the job but before Kathy could talk her out of pursuing it, JR shows up. Oddly he did not park in front of Kathy's house. He parked down the block instead walked to her door to the middle of a snowstorm needlessly. Then once inside he didn't speak to Kathy or acknowledge her in any way. Apparently he was 100% focused on Lisa and baby Tiffany. Kathy said she immediately sensed he was
Starting point is 00:50:54 a dangerous man. Now she more aggressively tries to talk Lisa out of leaving with him right in front of JR. JR is insisting that she go with him and she does. He left her house with Lisa and baby Tiffany started walking down to her car and it was the last time Kathy would see Lisa alive. JR drove Lisa and Tiffany back to the roadway in checked her into room 131. From there Lisa tried to call Kathy and her mother-in-law Betsy, uh, Betty Stasi. Only Betty answered her call. Lisa cried told her she had been forced to sign four pieces of paper. If she didn't, she would have lost custody of Tiffany. Also said that JR, John Osborne, told her that it was Betty who was trying to separate them.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Betty insisted that was a lie, urged Lisa, do not sign anything else. This man is dangerous. Then Lisa ends her call abruptly by saying, I've got to go. Here they are. And that was the last time anyone who knew Lisa would speak to her. Betty heard the fear in her voice, left the call wondering who they were, rightfully upset. The Klingensmiths now called the Overland Park Police and FBI the next day. The police go to the roadway in, but Lisa and Tiffany are now gone. Their bill had been paid by John Edward Robinson with his Equi-2 corporate credit card. Fucking douche, he even had a corporate credit card for a non-existing corporation.
Starting point is 00:52:07 I bet he wrote off a bunch of expenses for his fake company too. Probably wrote off the hotel rooms and other expenses related to murder victims. When they learned about JR, Kathy and her husband David drove down to the Equi2 office. David confronted JR, asked him about Lisa and Tiffany. JR seemed indignant that David thought he had done something wrong. He was so angry he actually pushed David out of the office. Shortly after this, David receives a phone call now from Father Martin, a supposed priest from the City Union Mission in Kansas City. And this Father Martin fella tells David and Lisa, tells David, excuse me, that Lisa
Starting point is 00:52:38 and Tiffany, you know, they're totally fine. You know, fucking J.R. is a good guy. But when David tries to talk to Father Martin again later, he learns that no one by that name has worked for the mission. None of the staff knew what happened to Lisa and Tiffany, or had even heard of them. They didn't know that JR took baby Tiffany with him to his home in Stanley, gave her to his wife Nancy to care for. Nancy was in shock, but didn't ask too many questions, because that's fucking, that's classic Nance.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Don't ask questions. Whatever JR does, just accept it. Nancy did notice that the baby smelled bad, had dirty fingernails, had no diapers or baby food. Nancy bathed the baby, went out to get her some supplies. JR told her that he got the baby from a private adoption agency, paid four grand for it now, and that his brother Don and his wife Helen, some sources do list her as Frida, but most say Helen, were supposed to be flying in the next day to take custody of this baby. This is fucking crazy. Remember when I told you Don was no longer fond of his brother JR? This is why.
Starting point is 00:53:32 This psycho scammed a social worker and others into handing him a young mother with a baby so he could kill the mom, give the baby to his brother and look like a hero. And also be able to watch the baby of some young woman He very likely raped and sexually tortured before he killed her grow up as his niece So beyond fucked on so many levels Don and Helen had been married for roughly 10 years still had no children due to infertility issues At a family party in 1983 Don told his brother they were trying to adopt but the fees were so high and even if they could Pay the fees, you know, they still have to wait several years. He asked
Starting point is 00:54:06 JR, hey do you know anybody any attorneys who deal with adoptions? Do you know any single women who want to give their child up for adoption? JR told him yeah I do know a lawyer who specializes in adoption. Now Don and Helen become JR's next victims. In the spring of 1984 JR tells Don to send him a check made out to Equitou for $2,500 or he had done that in the spring of 1984. The money was supposed to go to several people, and then they would have their baby by October. But then in October, JR told Don and Helen that the baby is still not available yet. Three months later, JR called. He said he did have a baby now. But he said the baby was Italian, had medical problems and big feet. And he advised
Starting point is 00:54:45 them to pass on this baby and they did. And before moving forward, big feet, so many questions. Did he think they might not pass on the baby due to the baby having medical problems alone but knew that they hated babies with big feet? And what does the baby being Italian have to do with anything? Would they have accepted a baby with medical problems and big feet but not an Italian baby with medical problems and big feet? I Hate to hate to tell you but the but the baby does have medical problems. Oh You know what that no, it's fine. That's fine. Yeah, maybe also has big feet. Oh
Starting point is 00:55:24 That's a not a bummer. But, no, okay. No, I mean, yeah, that baby still, you know, deserves to be loved. Ah! The baby's also Italian. Oh my god! Maserati Bugatti Spaghetti Antone Manettis! Why even call it a baby?
Starting point is 00:55:38 Call it what it is, a fucking monster! Hell no! We're not going to adopt some sickly Italian hobbit! Let's just throw that creature in the trash! Anyway, a few days later, JR called his bro, sister-in-law, asked him to fly to Kansas now. Oh, great news, guys. They get there on January 10th, the day after Lisa Stasi is seen alive for the last time. JR met him at the airport, told him he had been working with lawyers, oh, just fucking non-stop judges to arrange his adoption. What an angel. Oh just fucking non-stop judges to arrange his adoption. What an angel
Starting point is 00:56:08 He gave them notarized court documents and a birth certificate all forged Then drove them to his office in Overland Park his office for his fake business and had them sign a fake petition for adoption Also had his brother Don write him a real check for $3,000 Fucking killed this baby's mom and grifted his brother for 5,500 bucks Jr. Told them that the baby's mom died of suicide. They renamed the baby Heather Tiffany, keeping the first name as her middle name. They did a family photo shoot to celebrate this adoption, and some of those photos would include J.R. holding the baby on his knee. Those photos would later show up at his trial.
Starting point is 00:56:38 The very next day, Helen, Dawn, little Heather Tiffany returned to Chicago, and Dawn and Helen will raise the girl J kidnapped after murdering her mother as their own child for the rest of her childhood. Meanwhile, completely unbeknownst to Dawn and Helen, Lisa Stasi's family, they're frantically searching for her and Tiffany. Ann Smith from the nonprofit Birthright called the First Presbyterian Church in Stanley to confirm Robinson's membership and his connection to the Kansas City Outreach Program. Church said they didn't know JR.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Oh no, excuse me, they said they did know JR, but we didn't know about that program. We've never heard about this. It seems like Anne should have maybe checked into all this, you know, before sending Lisa to her death. Anne then calls the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, speaks to JR's parole officer, Stephen Haymes, which we talked about earlier. So now I'm kind of reconnecting there. Haymes tried to contact Robinson but was unsuccessful. He
Starting point is 00:57:27 then sent a letter ordering him to come to his office January 17th, 1985. JR ignores this letter. Haymes sends a second letter demanding he come in on January 24th. Also called the FBI, asked if they were aware of any baby stealing operations in Kansas City or selling baby stealing baby selling. The FBI said they were aware of Robinson and some of his activities but not actively investigating him and did not know of any baby selling rings. Well JR comes into Haymes's office on January 24th. He admits that he and five business associates were trying to help single moms in the community and that he had approached Birthright and the Truman Medical Center. He assured Haymes that Lisa and Tiffany were they were totally okay. They were fine. He was indignant that he was accused of doing anything wrong with them.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Haymes spoke to the Truman Medical Center, was told that two other women who were referred to JR were doing fine. However, the center was also aware that Lisa Stasi was missing and Haymes, you know, just a little suspicious that JR now won't put him in touch with Lisa to verify she's okay. Haymes talks to the Overland Park police now and is told that they did not believe a crime occurred in the disappearance of Lisa Stasi even though no one had heard from her, which sounds terrible but sadly sometimes people do disappear on their own and do choose to cut off contact with anyone in their previous life even their families
Starting point is 00:58:47 The department also acknowledged that Paula Godfrey who was associated with JR had also disappeared But they did not pursue the case because her family received a letter from her assuring them that she was okay Haymes now talked to and again There was that letter that JR wrote Haymes now talked to Lisa's relatives and learned they had just received typed letters from her And they didn't actually believe that Lisa had sent them. The letter addressed to her mother-in-law Betty Stasi read in part, Betty thank you for all the help I do really appreciate it. I have decided to leave Kansas City and try and make a new life for myself and Tiffany. She deserves
Starting point is 00:59:16 a real mother who works and takes care of her. I will let you know from time to time how I am and what I am doing. Tell Carl that I will write him and let him know where he can get in touch with me." This letter was a big red flag for two reasons. It did not sound like Lisa and bigger red flag Lisa did not know how to type. No one had literally ever seen her with a typewriter or ever heard about her using one. A few days later, January 30th, 1985, a police officer goes to JR's home, confronts him, demands to be given Lisa's contact info. JR tells him that a man named Bill came to his office, told him that he, Lisa, and Tiffany
Starting point is 00:59:51 were moving to Colorado to start a new life. And gosh dang it, wouldn't you know it, Bill just wouldn't give me his contact info. Ha! Shucks! Carl Stassi is informed of this development, stops looking for his wife and child. Once again, JR just gets away with it. Officer Haymes is not ready to give up though. He reaches out to JR for another meeting. Now he tells the officer that a local woman recently told him that Lisa was back in Kansas City, did some babysitting work for her. Haymes doubts this story, starts calling JR at all hours to question him, wants to catch him off guard, but JR is prepared to answer every question. Haymes visits the Equi-2 office again with another probation officer named Bill Neely,
Starting point is 01:00:28 and they question JR extensively about Lisa and her baby. This time he said a man named Bill was waiting for them when he took Lisa and Tiffany to the roadway inn during a snowstorm. They left with Bill, and that was that. Last time I saw him, I don't tell you. Hames and Neely went to the roadway inn to verify this. The motel clerk informed them that Lisa and the baby left with Robinson. Haymes now calls the FBI again, talks to agent Thomas Lavin and his partner,
Starting point is 01:00:51 Jeffrey Dancer. That's a fucking great name. Oh, Jeffrey Dancer, who had done some research on, I wonder if they called him Tiny, sometimes like Tiny Dancer. Who had done some research, this guy Jeffrey Dancer, on JR's financial schemes and his connection to Irving Blattner, that business associate who had knowledge about the disappearance of Paula Godfrey. Also, the police located a woman named Cora Holmes who met JR through a male stripper friend. Cora was looking for work called JR to see if he was hiring. He thought the cops were harassing him about a missing person and he needed her help.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Cora lied to the police per JR's request and said Lisa Stasi recently stayed the night at her house and had plans to go to Arkansas with some dude named Bill Summers. Meanwhile, investigators reached out to the woman who allegedly alleged Lisa was a babysitter. The woman admitted she also lied because she owed JR 900 bucks. She posed for nude pictures for him and was worried he would publish those photos somewhere. So they know this bucker did something, but they can't prove it. The FBI now launches a sting operation. They have a female agent go undercover as a sex worker to try and catch JR doing something worth arresting him over.
Starting point is 01:01:55 She makes contact. He tells her he's running a business employing call girls. Says his clients are people who are powerful, wealthy, doctors, lawyers, judges, and that she can make real good money, up to three grand a weekend, if she would fly to Dallas or Denver or some other cities for these VIP clients. But she would have to consent to hardcore BDSM sex. That is what his clients were looking for. That's what he specialized in.
Starting point is 01:02:18 Agent said she was willing to do it, but then the FBI pulled her out of the sting operation because they were afraid she was going to get hurt. FBI also now advises the Truman Medical Center to remove two young women from the Truest Avenue duplex in Kansas City because they felt JR was a very dangerous man. And the center complied and those women would be safe. JR had those women stay in his duplex as part of his fake ass Kansas City outrage program. But still they don't actually arrest JR. They wanted to get him for something bigger, like murder, and they were afraid if they
Starting point is 01:02:45 jumped on him too quick, that slick motherfucker would just clam up and shut down. In mid-March of 1985 now, JR's old business partner, Irv Blatner, turns against him, signs a statement for the U.S. Secret Service, who had also been looking into JR, admitting his connection to JR's financial crimes. March 21st of 85, JR shows up at a meeting in his probation officer Haymes's office and is arrested for financial swindling. He was able to quickly boast his post, his $50,000 cash bond though. I mean of course he was. He's probably got stolen money all over the place and he's released just two hours
Starting point is 01:03:22 later. Then a few weeks later, April of 1985, another one of JR's many romantic connections almost becomes another one of his murder victims. The previous year in 1984, 21 year old Teresa Williams moved to Kansas City from Boise, Idaho. I love Boise. She worked a variety of different jobs until she met JR to McDonald's and he told her that she could dramatically improve her life, make some big money by working with him. And soon she started doing sex work for him, moved into that Truest Avenue apartment. There she quickly learned that JR's clients were into particularly violent BDSM sex and that he became more demanding as time passed. For example, he once paid her
Starting point is 01:04:00 $1,200 to go to a wealthy man's mansion in the Casey area where that guy tied her to some type of medieval torture looking rack. My god. This dude tied the rack to the point where she was screaming in pain, shrieking in pain, begging him to stop, which he did. But now he was fucking pissed because she couldn't endure the pain that he wanted her to endure. JR was furious that she didn't complete her duties, ordered her to return the money. She like, this makes me wonder how many scumbags did JR work with? How many people got real nervous when he was eventually arrested? He may have made up that International Council of Masters, but he really was part of some kind of underground sex ring, you know, full of guys who paid him a lot of money to hurt
Starting point is 01:04:39 women to get their fucking dicks heart. One morning in May of 1985, JR goes to his Truost Avenue apartment and enters while Teresa was sleeping, she said. While she was asleep, he violently grabbed her by the hair, pulled her over his knee, and started to spank her. As he did, he told her, quote, you've been a real bad girl. You need to learn a lesson. Teresa was stunned for a moment, and she started screaming. JR then threw her to the floor, took out a revolver, pointed it at her, and told her, if you don't shut up, I'll blow your brains out.
Starting point is 01:05:06 She quieted down. He then put the gun against her head, pulled the trigger, but it was empty. J.R. then put the empty barrel of the gun inside her vagina and told her, quote, I bet you've never had a blowout. Ugh! She pleaded with him to stop. Finally, this fucking psycho withdrew the gun, then quickly left her apartment without saying another word. Not long after that incident, he came back, asked Teresa to help him destroy Irv Blattner's credibility. He wanted her to write a diary entry suggesting that Blattner was going to kill her. He wanted her to write entries until June 15th, then he promised to take her to the Bahamas on that day. Sounds like he was planning on killing her around the 16th.
Starting point is 01:05:46 that day. Sounds like he was planning on killing her around the 16th. A week or two later, June 7th, Steve Hames and FBI agents Thomas Lavin and Jeffrey Dancer make a surprise visit to the Troost Avenue apartment, speak to Teresa. She initially lied, said she did data processing for Equi-2, his fake company. Officers told her that they believed two women who worked for JR were missing and possibly murdered, and that he was planning something similar with her. Now Teresa, who was scared, opens up, describes the recent assault with the gun, the diary entries that he had asked her to write, the alleged Bahamas trip. JR had also put all of her things in storage and left instructions for his lawyer to get the diary and some of Teresa's property from a safe deposit box.
Starting point is 01:06:22 Did his lawyer also know he was going to kill her? Was his lawyer one of his BDSM clients? Much to everyone's surprise, JR entered the apartment during the FBI agent's visit. Lavin and Dancer identified themselves. Lavin held up the diary, asked JR if it was his handwriting. JR admitted it was. They searched him for weapons, but he didn't have anything on him at the time. JR, bet he was a bit nervous now, said,
Starting point is 01:06:45 I got stuff to do. I got places to be. He was in a big hurry. And he left. Now Teresa is relocated to a different part of the city for her own safety. Once in a safe house, she informs the police that JR gave her weed, carried a gun, he had sexually assaulted her, which is more than enough to get his probation revoked. If you remember, JR had been sentenced to five years probation and the guy snack foods case when he stole around $50,000 from the company had an affair with the secretary had that thing extended, you know the probation extended Jr was of course furious when he found out Teresa was gone started hunting for
Starting point is 01:07:17 Teresa would move three times in three weeks. Meanwhile, Jr hires a private detective to find her this guy does He gets his PI to confirm her address. The private detective starts talking to her, but then the FBI interrupts the conversation and moves Teresa out of the state. JR's lawyer argues now that the police's tactics have been illegal. There is no good reason the FBI cannot produce Teresa to give a sworn deposition and that without her statement, there's no grounds to revoke his probation. Late August of 1985, Missouri judge doesn't give a fuck about JR's lawyer's argument that I just laid out and revokes JR's probation, sentences him to seven years in prison now. Awesome, right?
Starting point is 01:07:56 Hail Nimrod maybe? I don't know. He is allowed to remain free pending his appeal. This guy was just a master at avoiding incarceration. Meanwhile, the Johnson County, Kansas, District Attorney was still investigating JR's suspicious invoices to back care systems. Right? That scam from a fucking six years ago started back in 1980. Looks like the walls are closed in on the son of a bitch, right? Maybe not. January of 1986, while he's appealing his probation revocation, JR goes to trial in Kansas for his financial crimes. Late January he is found guilty of submitting $3,600 worth of false billing. He is sentenced harshly as a habitual offender, receives 5-14 years in prison and a fine of $5,000. Before sentencing, Johnson County also charges JR with stealing $50,000 while acting as a middleman in a condo sale in Page, Arizona.
Starting point is 01:08:46 This guy was just constantly running scams. He had collected 150 grand in that scam from a buyer in Kansas and then only sent 100 grand to the seller. This meant JR is now facing 6 to 19 years in prison. But then a few months later in May of 1986 an appellate court throws out the judge's ruling on the probation on the probation revocation and JR is freed once again. Was that judge right one of his BDSM clients? He still has a sentencing hearing coming up though but he's not due to begin serving or I'm sorry his sentence he's already been sentenced to coming up for these other crimes but he's not due to begin serving that for several months he's gonna make the most of his time. He
Starting point is 01:09:23 continues working on his bullshit company, Equitu, running his scam, sexually abusing women. He's pimping out, probably dealing coke. God knows what else. Days after his parole is revoked in August 1985, this crazy motherfucker gets featured on the cover of Farm Journal, a national magazine for having so many innovative agricultural products that he did not have. It's his bullshit man of the year award all over again. He was so good at being bad. When I told Lindsey about this guy, one of the most fascinating serial killers we have ever covered, she was so frustrated he couldn't have used his mind for good. He was in some ways clearly just so intelligent.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Probably could have gotten rich without having to break the law, but he loved to fuck people over. Loved to trick them. Must have just made him feel so clever. Also he must have is he just kept tricking more and more people, just lost so much respect for humanity in general. Like he clearly didn't care about others and I imagine the more people he conned the less he cared about others. At least two people lost thousands investing in his bullshit company after reading that article in Farm Journal. The following year while he still waits to begin serving a sentence another young woman will disappear from the Kansas City area. January of 1987, 27-year-old Katherine Clampett now leaves her home in Wichita Falls, Texas
Starting point is 01:10:33 for a fresh start. Katherine struggled with substance abuse problems, left her young son Ryan with her parents, moved in with her brother Robert Bales in one of Kansas City's many, many suburbs. She started looking for a job, saw one of JR's ads in the local paper. Wouldn't you know it, Equi2 was offered a high paying position that included travel and a new wardrobe. And you didn't even need a degree to apply. It was almost like it was too good to be true. Katherine scheduled an interview and being young, attractive and vulnerable,
Starting point is 01:11:00 she was hired. Her brother started seeing her less and less. Katherine was either traveling or staying in hotels. He didn't know where she was for days at a time. She was very likely, though this is not confirmed, turning tricks for JR's rich sadistic clients. Katherine was, according to her brother, supposed to have a meeting with JR on June 15th, but then she disappeared. After a week in no contact, Katherine's brother reported her missing. The police called Robinson, but he was unresponsive. Investigators knew this motherfucker likely killed her, but concluded there wasn't enough
Starting point is 01:11:29 evidence to connect JR to Catherine's disappearance and actually make an arrest. Catherine has never been seen or heard from again. Her body's never been found. Oh, directly after her disappearance, JR finally goes to prison. In the summer of 1987, it just kept getting delayed, I guess. My God, J.R. finally goes to prison in the summer of 1987. It just kept getting delayed, I guess. My God, hail Nimrod. Before we discuss how he starts fucking over still more people while in prison,
Starting point is 01:11:54 time for today's second of two mid-show sponsor breaks. Thank you for listening to those sponsors. And now let's return to 1987 when John Edward Robinson, the slave master, tries to weasel his way out of his prison sentence. Wall behind bars, JR's wife Nancy, who still will not leave him, now gets a nursing job to support the family. John Jr. is now 21 or 22 out of the house. Kimberly is either 19 or 20.
Starting point is 01:12:19 The twins, Christopher and Christine, they're 15 or 16 and still in high school. Not having access to all his hidden scam money, apparently in 1988, Nancy will sell the family's acreage in Pleasant Valley Farms and start renting an apartment in Stanley. JR meanwhile is a model inmate at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility, but he does complain of severe chest pain. Finally this motherfucker isn't getting to do exactly what he wants. His chest pain complaints actually were legit. They were legit and JR, 43 years old when he began serving the sentence, suffered several strokes in prison that caused a minor slackness on the right side of his face, but his verbal and performance skills were unfortunately still strong. JR receives a bunch of computer training inside
Starting point is 01:12:58 prison, which is not good since he'll be able to use his new skills to scam more people, lure more women to their deaths once he's free. He's picked up for this training program because of his intelligence and desire to learn new things. Yeah, he was smart and very capable. JR reorganized the computer maintenance office, was quickly able to write new software programs. He actually ended up saving the state of Kansas about a hundred grand a year and prison staff admired and appreciated his intelligence and work. Grant a year and prison staff admired and appreciated his intelligence and work.
Starting point is 01:13:31 November of 1992, psychiatrists at Hutchinson Correctional write a nine-page analysis of JR. The report describes JR as a quote, model inmate who has made the best of his incarceration. He is a non-violent person and does not present a threat to society. He is a devoted family man who has taught his children a strong value system. God damn he's good at tricking people. Dude should be in the Bullshitters Hall of Fame. Experts felt that his prison behavior was remarkable and he showed signs of rehabilitation. He was docile, non-violent, posed no threat against society. Oh he's so great. The report recommended his immediate release. January 23rd, 1991, JR is transferred to a prison facility in Missouri, where he will get some
Starting point is 01:14:10 psychiatric and medical testing as part of his time in Kansas, part of his time in Missouri. JR argued that his health was poor, that he could not be incarcerated. A physician agreed, describing him as a very sick man. This doctor wrote that his condition should be considered in a parole hearing and he wrote another letter saying his health problems were life-threatening. He should be released without delay. His old parole officer Steve Hames disagreed. He knew JR was a fucking snake and he wrote a report on how he is not non-violent, he's not harmless, he's dangerous. He believed JR was you know faking this. He shared his thoughts at a parole hearing in April dangerous. To believe JR was, you know, faking this, he shared his thoughts at a parole hearing
Starting point is 01:14:45 in April of 1991. Following month, JR writes a letter to the Clay County Circuit Judge asking for his freedom. He wrote, I taught my children to believe in the basic fairness of our system of justice. They know now that justice isn't just a word and that the concept of justice in America is something that can be manipulated and used as a weapon by those in power to enforce the law. His letter ended with, My illnesses are degenerative, and without proper rehabilitation, testing and long-term
Starting point is 01:15:13 treatment will continue to get worse. My physical impairments and right-sided paralysis will not get better. Bruce, which is his lawyer, my family and I all realize the decisions made by the Clay County Court and the Missouri Parole Board amount to a sentence of death. Our only question, is this what is considered proportionate for my crime in Missouri? Well, the Missouri Parole Board, thank God, they don't fall for this. They ordered J.R. to serve two more years in prison. J.R. was examined by another doctor, Dr. William Bonner, who determined he was not as sick as he claimed to be. That's part of the reason he got this,
Starting point is 01:15:48 has to serve more time in prison. So he's not getting out, not quickly. But he will figure out quickly how to get laid in prison. At the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron, JR has another affair. He ran into 49-year-old Beverly Bonner, the wife of Dr. Bonner, the guy who said his medical claims were bullshit. And I wonder if his true motivation for pursuing this affair was to get back at Dr. Bonner. Well, Beverly worked at the prison library. She described in sources as being attractive, outgoing, and intelligent. And Beverly had actually met JR back in 1969, over 20 years earlier, when she worked at Mobile Oil, where JR also
Starting point is 01:16:26 worked for a few months before he got fired for stealing those 6200 stamps, valued at about 400 bucks. Beverly, like way too many other people, charmed by JR, liked talking to him. They started off as friends, had frequent interactions while JR was working on upgrading the library's computer system, whenever he's talking about how smart and great he is. And then their friendship turns into a romantic relationship, and while sources do not state this explicitly, sure sounds like they started fucking in the library. JR told Beverly he was innocent of all the charges when we get down soon. She believed him. He told her he planned to restart
Starting point is 01:16:57 his very legit businesses back up, one of which sells farm equipment and shit in the Kansas City area. She believes it. Meanwhile, back at home, JR's wife, Nancy, she gets a job managing a trailer park in Belton, Missouri. Yet another suburb of Kansas City. JR finishes his sentence in the summer of 1993. He is now 49 years old. He had been sentenced to 6 to 19 years in prison.
Starting point is 01:17:23 He served a minimum of 6 years. He wants more money, starts dreaming up some new scams. Also, he is still fucking Beverly, the prison librarian and wife of the prison doctor who would not help him get out of prison early. J.R. consents that Beverly wanted more out of life and took advantage of that longing. He told Beverly that he needed a business partner and she started divorce proceedings. How happy did that make J.R.? He's getting revenge on Dr. Bonner. How dare that guy be good at his job. The Bonner's divorce will be finalized in February of 1994.
Starting point is 01:17:52 He did it. JR meanwhile continues to be married to Nancy while he and Beverly start spending more and more time together. These two are now working together to reinvent his old fake company HydroGro. Beverly is now listed as the president of the company and a guy named James Turner is the company's secretary. James Turner, just another one of JR's aliases.
Starting point is 01:18:12 JR will ask Beverly to sign some blank pieces of paper telling her that when she goes overseas for work, he'll use the paper to write letters to her family as if she couldn't do that herself. Uh-oh. Beverly's family soon starts receiving letters about her travels and how much fun she's having. One of Beverly's letters describes
Starting point is 01:18:29 a real street in Amsterdam. A street that JR and his family just happened to have visited during a trip to Europe in the 80s. Huh. Before Beverly left for her travels, JR rented a storage locker at Storemore for less in Raymore, Missouri. Nancy had rented a unit there in the past.
Starting point is 01:18:44 And around the time Beverly left for her quote unquote travels, JR was seen unloading a large metal barrel from his vehicle, a vehicle that belonged to Beverly Bonner. He put the barrel inside the unit, locked it up, and drove away. That son of a bitch murdered Dr. Bonner's wife. How clever did he feel? Well, Beverly's friends and family never saw her again after 1994. One of her sons passed away in 1995. She did not return from her travels to attend the funeral, which of course caused a lot of concern.
Starting point is 01:19:14 Some people did think she was traveling or maybe to run off with some other man, but a lot of others thought that she was dead. But no one received notification of her death and some family members were still receiving letters from her. But of course they were not from her, they were letters from JR. Beverly's mother received her last letter in early 1997, postmarked from Russia, said Beverly would be traveling to China soon. According to authors Douglas and Singular, JR had managed to find a service that concealed a letter's point of origin, and he could fake an overseas postmark. I hate this guy, but holy shit he was good at this stuff.
Starting point is 01:19:49 The forwarding address in the letters was a mailbox in a commercial mail center called The Mailroom in Olathe, Kansas. Jara rented the mailbox in Beverly's name. Since her divorce was finalized, Beverly's ex-husband had been mailing a thousand dollars a month in settlement checks to that P.O. box and Jara will collect those for 18 months. He cashed all 18 checks. I bet he had a big shitty grin on his face while he did And now despite all the absolutely terrible things this living demon has done Jara is about to sink even lower in 1994 two more women would fall victim to John Robinson's promises of a better life 49 year old Sheila faith and her physically
Starting point is 01:20:25 disabled 16-year-old daughter Debbie. Debbie Faith had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child. Sheila and her husband John were her primary caretakers until Debbie's dad sadly passed away from cancer in 1991. After his death, Sheila was now Debbie's sole caregiver. Sheila and Debbie were living in Southern California, but they had to look for a new home because the cost of living became too high. They lived off of just $1,600 a month in Social Security plus food stamps, and Debbie's medical
Starting point is 01:20:52 needs were expensive. Debbie was also diagnosed with spina bifida. Despite her disabilities, she was an upbeat person with a good sense of humor. She liked to race other wheelchair users at the mall, sometimes would call TV psychics to ask them to predict her future. Tried her best not to let her pain get to her. She dreamt of becoming a physical education teacher. Sheila was a great mom, but also lonely since her husband John's death.
Starting point is 01:21:16 She put out personal ads, used online chat rooms to combat her loneliness. Just the early days of the web, the new chat rooms. 1993, Sheila and Debbie moved to Watsonville, California, a city just south of San Francisco. Then too expensive, they relocate again to Pueblo, Colorado this time after Sheila gets involved with a man there. After that move, Sheila continues using online chat rooms,
Starting point is 01:21:36 starts a new long distance relationship with a man who lived in either Kansas or Missouri. He was a farmer named, you know what, his name was John. As in John Edward Robinson. Old JR. The salt of the earth good guy. As the relationship intensified John and Sheila started talking more and more over the phone. He soon asked Sheila to live with him, promised to get Debbie into a special school for disabled people. Sheila thought John was quote her dream man. They planned to visit Kansas in the summer of 1994 during a trip to Texas. And then one day in that summer JR, They planned to visit Kansas in the summer of 1994 during a trip to Texas.
Starting point is 01:22:05 And then one day in that summer, JR, he just fucking showed up in the middle of the night. He drove all the way to Colorado to pick him up. And now Sheila left almost everything she owned behind. Her neighbors were shocked just to find her gone one day. And then Sheila and her daughter, of course, never heard from again. Before she left, she asked her neighbors to check her mail
Starting point is 01:22:23 when she was, while she was on a trip, which would include Debbie's disability check. But then those checks never showed up. Her mail instead ended up getting forwarded to the mail room in Olathe, Kansas, to that box rented by James Turner. Years later, the owner of the mail room would say that a man who looked an awful lot like John Robinson as inidentical started picking up Debbie's checks in 1994 and he would end up picking up 152 checks worth more than $80,000 in total. After she left Colorado her brother William Howell started receiving letters from her, always the letters with this guy. They were typed but her signature would be at the bottom and she assured
Starting point is 01:22:59 him that she and Debbie were fine. But of course they were about as far from fine as you can get because they were both dead. By the end of 1995, life is going pretty well for JR. How fun. Oh, couldn't happen to a better dude. He turned 52 on December 23rd. He scammed and pimped enough people to allow him and Nancy, oh yeah, they're still together, they're still married,
Starting point is 01:23:19 to purchase a $95,000 two bedroom ranch house and adjoining lot in Big Pine Key, Florida GR wanted the home to be a gift for his oldest son John jr. Who just had his first child Jr. Is a proud grandfather now Jr. And Nancy originally planned to build a new home on the adjacent lot But there was a sinkhole which made building impossible. Well, so at least you know nature fucks him over a little bit here Jr. And Nancy moved from Belton, Missouri to a different trailer park in Olathe, Kansas called Santa Barbara States Nancy got a job as the manager of 484 units of this park
Starting point is 01:23:51 J.r. continued running his business that didn't make any legal money. He started yet another company called specialty publications Which supposedly published a free magazine about the mobile home industry and it relied on advertisements to make money It seemed like it was it was kind of of legit but I don't think it had the circulation that he claimed. Every morning after Nancy left for work JR would turn on one of his three computers now and start browsing the web. He'd spend most of his free time exploring online chat rooms which allowed him to talk to women all over the world and he especially unsurprisingly enjoyed discussing BDSM sex with submissive women in the new sexually themed chat rooms popping up around the world.
Starting point is 01:24:28 He could be anyone he wanted in these chat rooms. Sometimes he portrayed himself as a wealthy entrepreneur. Other times he's a simple farmer. He would use the names Jim Turner, JT, or the Slave Master if he was visiting a BDSM website. I told a number of women he wanted to be their partner and financially support them. He asked several of them to move to Kansas where he could help them get a job, they could pursue their dom sub relationship. JR's favorite sites were Gorean chat rooms. According to, I had not heard of these before. According to authors Douglas and Singular, Gorean is a type of, subtype of BDSM that has no safe words and no rules. Submissive people are expected to obey dominance without question.
Starting point is 01:25:11 The authors wrote the Gorean concept had been laid out in 25 science fiction novels about the planet Gore written by a philosophy professor named John Norman. On Gore all the women were slaves to and had to satisfy their every sexual desire. Since the book's first appearance in the 1960s, the Gorean novels had gained a cult following and were highly valued by book collectors. With the development of the internet, Gorean adherents also had a strong presence online. Cyberspace was the perfect place to meet people with like desires. 93-year-old John Norman, born in 1931, still writing new books for this series. First book came out in 1966, most recent came out a few months ago, April of this year,
Starting point is 01:25:52 the 38th book in this series. Just won't quit. JR was drawn to gory and relationships because he got off on having total control over women, sexual and otherwise. In addition to using the web to delve deeper into his sexual obsession, JR also used the internet to search personal ads in Kansas City's alternative local free weekly paper called Pitch Weekly at the time, originally called Penny Pitch, it's now just called The Pitch. And Pitch Weekly had two personal ad sections, Romance, The Dating Connection, and Wild Side. For people who wanted unconventional relationships, Oh my. In the Wild Side section,
Starting point is 01:26:27 one of the ads JR found that he liked was posted by a woman in her late 20s named Alicia Cox. Hell yeah. Fucking Wild Side. Lady named Cox. Alicia's ad said, SBF. Straight black female looking for mature male to take care of me. I'll take care of you. I'm sure he let out some equivalent of, hey, Lucifina! Alicia was an aspiring radio personality working as receptionist in Kansas City, had a daughter who lived with her mother in Salina, Kansas. JR answered her ad they struck up an agreement. He would pay her $2,000 a month if she agreed to be his mistress and she had to make
Starting point is 01:27:02 herself available for sex whenever he wanted and whatever kind of sex he wanted. He told Alicia he was married but that he and his wife were no longer having sex and they were going to get divorced. He also claimed he was a successful entrepreneur who owned a pool supply store now and a hydroponic business. And so it began for these two. JR started paying her two grand a month in cash I doubt his wife knew he ever had. Alicia started enduring god knows what kind of sexual torment to make that money. Relationship went well enough for JR to eventually give Alicia a gold band and tell her he wanted to marry her but they would never go through with that. After a
Starting point is 01:27:36 few years of this, I think a few years, it's not made totally clear exactly when these two began their arrangement, in the fall of 1998 Alicia wanted JR to help her get a job in entertainment. She gave him some of her publicity photos to distribute. He told her he needed some documents, documents that had her social security number and signature on them to help. Uh-oh. Alicia gave up her apartment after JR told her that he wanted to hire her to travel overseas to London, Paris, and Australia now to meet some of his wealthy business contacts. He put her in a Best Western before the trip started, said he would get the passport application
Starting point is 01:28:11 done for her because he's a gentleman. But then Alicia became frustrated when he kept changing the supposed departure date. JR now asked her, one of his old tricks, to pre-write some travel letters to her family, saying, she'd be so busy abroad having so much much fun she wouldn't have time to do it herself. He also wanted her to date them with specific dates because that's not suspicious at all. Mmm. Alicia had no idea that several previous women had been in her exact situation and they were never seen again.
Starting point is 01:28:36 Well, the evening before she was supposed to go to London, JR spends the whole night with Alicia, which was highly unusual. In the past, he'd always gone home to Nancy by dinnertime. The kids have all been out of the house for years now, the youngest of twins, now in their late 20s, just he and Nancy. He arrived at the hotel in his truck. Alicia noticed that the truck had a trailer hitched to the back and a rack of clothing on the bed. Next morning she woke up around 5 a.m. which woke JR and he seemed irritated that she was already awake. He then left the hotel saying he
Starting point is 01:29:03 had to go run some errands. Asked her to meet him in a restaurant at 10 a.m. to prepare for the trip. Alicia waited but he never showed up. She called multiple times but he never answered. Alicia was now jobless and homeless and moved in with some family. Then a few months later she puts another ad in the pitch advertising herself once again as a submissive looking for a dominant, someone to take care of her and again JR response. And they resumed their affair after John came up with some bullshit excuse about why he had freaked out and left her high and dry.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Something about, you know, complications with me and my wife's divorce. Who the fuck knows exactly what lies that dude told. He and Alicia's second go of it went well enough for her to give JR power of attorney now in the summer of 1999. Following that, the two gradually drifted apart though. Alicia didn't know he was in similar arrangements with other women the entire time they knew each other. I guess he just kind of lost interest in this one. Alicia will later be obviously so relieved he lost interest. She came to believe that the day that she had woken up earlier than
Starting point is 01:29:59 JR in that hotel room, that was the day he originally planned on killing her. Okay, backing up a bit. room that was the day he originally planned on killing her. Okay backing up a bit. By the mid 90s JR was extremely busy maintaining multiple online and real life affairs with various women. He was chatting up ladies in Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, England, Canada, elsewhere and he'd asked several women to sign slave contracts. Here is an excerpt from one of these slave contracts. Slave Contract. This contract signals the end of your old life and the beginning of your new one, slave.
Starting point is 01:30:31 I'll be tattooing you with a barcode because you are now a piece of meat I have bought, one that I can sell. I own you, especially your holes. They are no longer your own, they belong to me. But I do expect you to keep them clean. Seriously, it's been a problem in the past. Keep your holes clean, slave.
Starting point is 01:30:50 There's nothing worse than a dirty piece of meat. Wipe your bottom, like thoroughly wipe it. Don't skimp on the soap when you clean yourself. And you know, keep up with your grooming. In general, slave, brush your teeth at least twice a day. Floss at least once. I don't want my slave getting gingivitis. Get outside and get some sun each day as well. grooming in general slave, brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss at least once. I don't want my slave getting gingivitis. Get outside and get some sun each day as well. No one wants a pasty ass slave. This master wants a tan fit slave. Be sure and keep working out clean,
Starting point is 01:31:17 good smelling, happy slave. Be sure and take care of your mental health as well. Talk to a licensed therapist if you need to. Like you're a worthless slut and stuff, but I care about you and I want you to be a happy and fulfilled slave in life and whatnot. Don't just watch mindless TV at Rot Your Brain, slave. Read a book here and there. Eat your vegetables. You can never eat too many vegetables, you filthy fucking slave. No, he didn't say that.
Starting point is 01:31:38 Uh, that's not what the contract said. But we do have a copy of the contract, and here's what some of it actually said. Slave contract. This is the basic contract that may be used between a master and a slave. Of my own free will, as of this day, date, I, name of slave, herein after, called slave. Hereby grant name of master, herein after called master. Full ownership and use of my body and mind from now until I am released. And then towards the end of the contract it says, I understand that my master has my ultimate
Starting point is 01:32:12 physical, mental and spiritual well-being in mind and will strive to be worthy of his pride in all my endeavors. I will at all times maintain a safe, sane and consensual relationship. But will this relationship be sane? Is that even possible? Can you actually give consent to someone sexually when you have no idea how far that person is going to take things? Alright, let's now head to 1997, before JR and Alicia split up, meet another one of the women JR was having an affair with. In 1997, JR also was chatting to a woman named Isabella Luika, young college student from Indiana. Isabella was born in Poland, not even gonna say anything bad about it this week, in 1979. Both of her parents were scientists trying to escape the communist regime. In 1993,
Starting point is 01:32:57 the family obtained permanent visas, moved to the U.S., settling in West Lafayette, Indiana. Isabella was 14 at the time. Her father had gotten a job, excuse me, with the physics department at Purdue, and her mom got a job as a research assistant. Isabella was a talented artist, interested in painting, pottery, and fashion, also known for her Gothic look. As a young adult, she followed in her parents' footsteps,
Starting point is 01:33:19 attended Purdue University, and there Isabella explored paganism, occult practices, and the BDSM lifestyle. She told one of her friends about some experiences she had at BDSM dungeons and quote playrooms in Chicago. Isabella lived with her parents and at home she explored online chat rooms. Her parents noticed that her grades were slipping but they didn't know it was because she was getting lost in the BDSM subculture. In 1997, Isabella started chatting online with a man from Kansas and she wanted to meet him face
Starting point is 01:33:49 to face. He told her he was an international book agent and that they would love to hire her as his secretary. They were both obviously very interested in BDSM and he said he wanted her to illustrate some BDSM manuscripts he had been working on for publication. In June of 1997, Isabella left Purdue to travel to Kansas, told her parents she was going to do an internship with the man she met online, but was vague about the details. Once she got to Kansas City, he sent her parents her new address, or she sent her parents her new address, excuse me, but she did not reach out to them after that because she thought they disapproved of what she was doing. Her parents waited to hear from her for two months then decided to drive to her
Starting point is 01:34:26 address and look for her. They were surprised to see that the address was just a mailbox in Overland Park, Kansas. And the company would not give out the address of the owner. The Luica stayed in Kansas City just a day, had no idea where to look for their daughter, and then returned to Indiana. They did not talk to law enforcement, they just waited. They just hoped Isabella would return to Purdue for the fall semester, but of course that would not happen. Soon after they got home, they did start receiving emails from Isabella or someone claiming to be Isabella. I actually do think that these ones were from her for a while. Her father did sense that something was off though, so he started to write to her in Polish, and then Isabella would respond to him in Polish.
Starting point is 01:35:04 And also with information that only someone in her family would know so she's still alive at that point She did not tell them what she was doing in Kansas City her parents were that if they went to the police she would completely cut off contact Court TV later published excerpts from her emails to her father Isabella once wrote what the hell do you want? I will not tolerate your harassment to her father Isabella once wrote, what the hell do you want? I will not tolerate your harassment. Around Thanksgiving of 1997 Isabella's father emailed her in Polish, asking her to call.
Starting point is 01:35:32 Isabella responded also in Polish. I have told you I'm happy. I'm well. I have a wonderful job and a wonderful man in my life who loves me. I want to be left alone. I don't know how I can make that any clearer. So maybe she was being told what to write by her slave master, part of the contract. I'm guessing J.R. probably loved manipulating his victims into turning their families against or turning against
Starting point is 01:35:53 their families before killing them. 1997 Isabella filed for a marriage license with a man named John Anthony Robinson. John Anthony, would you know it, had the exact same birthday, year and everything as John Edward Robinson. John Anthony, would you know it, had the exact same birthday, year and everything, as John Edward Robinson. 1998, Isabella enrolled at Johnson County Community College in Kansas with the last name Luica Robinson. Wore a wedding ring on her finger, talked to her classmates about her much older husband. Yeah, JR is now 54 and she is 19. And that is not gross at all. Oh, not even a little bit predatory. Oh man, this guy's a regular Dane Cook, if you know you know. In public, JR introduced Isabella as his adopted daughter or his cousin from Czechoslovakia. So that's cool. Getting her to
Starting point is 01:36:34 hide her country she's from, you know, make it harder for people to track her down when she disappears. Also tried to distance himself from her when they met business associates because her gothic clothing embarrassed him. When Isabella was asked why she didn't live with her husband, she said it was because of how people treated them rudely because of their age gap. Huh. What Isabella did not tell many people was that she had signed a 115 item contract that gave JR control of her life, made her his living fuck doll, and in, he agreed to support her financially so she could spend most of her time studying, painting, reading, and I'm guessing, you know, icing her pussy, mouth, and butthole. Taking lots of Tylenol, Advil, other painkillers, and anti-inflammatories.
Starting point is 01:37:14 March of 1998, JR leased an apartment in Olathe, Kansas for Isabella. Told the property manager she operated a business called... I'm sorry, he operated a business called Specialty Publications, would use the space to train employees before they went to their company's headquarters in Nashville. He also said tenants would be young women and they would mainly work at night. Uh-huh. But then Isabella was the only one who ever moved in, and JR later told the property manager that she was his adopted daughter. Eventually, J.R. moved Isabella into a fourplex on Edgebrook Street in Olathe, told the same story to the property manager there. He'd been bringing women for training. Again, Isabella, the only tenant, is adopted daughter. Eventually,
Starting point is 01:37:55 Isabella stopped communicating with her parents in Polish and insisted all future emails be sent in English because that was her husband's language. These poor people. In the fall of 1999, Isabella told the owner of a bookstore she frequented, so she's still alive, that she was going to be moving away. So probably not for long. Soon after this, Isabella emailed her parents, told them she was married. Sorry, like some of these emails are a little bit out of order here. When they asked for her husband's name, she refused to tell them, or I'm sorry, I was correct earlier. I don't know why I'm second guessing myself.
Starting point is 01:38:26 She had been telling people that she was married. I don't know that she told her husband yet that she was married. Anyway, when they asked for her husband's name, she refused to tell them and just wrote, I'm happy I'm wet. I want to be left alone. She wrote that she was never coming back to Indiana. She would soon be traveling the world with her husband. They had plans to go to China and Switzerland. Uh-huh. The tone of the messages fell off to her parents when
Starting point is 01:38:49 her father expressed his suspicions via email. Isabella mentioned her younger sister's nickname, which suppressed his worries at that time. And I wonder if JR was practicing with a lot of these messages. Like maybe he was writing them, but while she was alive, so he could ask her questions about them. Like what's your younger sister's nickname you know before he killed her that way when he kept writing messages after she was dead her parents would be used to the tone of these messages in the late 90s JR now sells his Florida property Big Pine Key and he purchases 16 and a half acres six miles northwest of the scene Kansas cost $36,670.
Starting point is 01:39:25 Almost 17 acres for less than 40 grand. That's fucking wild. That was just 25 years ago. JR now thought of himself as a weekend rancher who would leave the city to tend to his farm. He says what he told some people. He and Nancy, still together, still living at the Santa Barbara Estate Trailer Park
Starting point is 01:39:43 in Olathe, and around this time, JR befriends a maintenance worker named Carlos Ibarra. He bragged to Carlos about how he paid to have women hanging out in various hotels just waiting for him. Women who would fuck him however he wanted, whenever he wanted. And he once showed Carlos a nude picture of a woman he claimed was his girlfriend. He's a cool guy. One day in the late 90s, Carlos' mother, Lydia Ponce, came to visit him from Mexico, and J.R. asked her for a small favor. I don't know if it's Ponce or Ponce.
Starting point is 01:40:10 He wanted her to take home some envelopes, then mail the letters to people in the States. He explained that a friend of his was on the run because he owed some money to a bank. Lydia just did what he asked without any complaints because he's so charismatic. J.R. also invited Carlos out to his farm near Lecine, told Carlos he wanted to make a fishing dock for his pond. And he needed a bunch of like large barrels. You know, large barrels that would definitely not be used to store dead bodies. Oh, no way! No, not that. Who said anything about dead bodies? Was that you? Carlos, was that me?
Starting point is 01:40:39 That was wild. He asked Carlos to get him four 85 gallon barrels built to hold fuel or other liquids and Carlos connected JR to somebody who would sell him those barrels for just 15 bucks each. What a deal. April 11th, 2000 was Isabella's 21st birthday. Back to her now. Her parents mailed her a check as a gift. Three days later they received an email that said,
Starting point is 01:41:00 We spent two weeks in the countryside of China. It is my birthday surprise. Right around this time people in the Kansas City area stopped seeing Isabella around town JR ended the lease early at the four plex on edge book street edge brook street where she was staying When people asked him what happened Isabella he said she got caught smoking weed got deported back to Czechoslovakia. Gosh dang You know the country he had convinced her to tell people she was from his wife Nancy Who was actually aware of this affair but still stayed with him. What kind of fucking dirt does he have on her?
Starting point is 01:41:31 Or is her self-esteem just completely just fucking eviscerated by this point? Just nothing left. She also noticed that Isabella was gone, but of course, you know, doesn't go to the authorities. During his affairs with Alicia Cox, Isabella Luica, and other women online, JR was also talking to his childhood friend Barbara Sondre. JR and Barbara had known each other since 1963. They met when he was 19 and she was just 15. They stayed in touch for decades.
Starting point is 01:41:58 Barbara eventually moved to England, started the translation business there. She and JR reconnected in 1998 after about five years of no communication. Barbara actually gave him some of the money he used to buy his farm. JR now wanted Barbara to visit him in Kansas City, but first he was going to send her a letter and he wanted her to mail it back to the US. Barbara mailed two pre-addressed letters for him. It's fucking crazy how many people this dude talked to to help him run various camps. I'm not mailing shit for anybody. You mail that shit yourself. Leave me out of it Barbara and JR started talking every day. She even visited him in Kansas like he wanted
Starting point is 01:42:31 Then Nancy found something with Barbara's address on it and for some reason this affair pisses her off. She's furious She writes a letter to Barbara herself telling her to get the fuck away that she is GR's wife Why why are you fucking proud of being his wife, Nance? Barbara now sent an angry email to JR, but he insisted Nancy was not his wife. Now she's a former babysitter for his grandkids. She's crazy. She's harassing the family. And Barbara believes this and ignores Nancy now. JR had led her to believe that if she moved to Kansas, they could have a real relationship.
Starting point is 01:43:04 So she does move overseas back to the States in July of 1999. JR acts as a co-signer for her new apartment. They open up a joint checking account, start working together at his publishing business which is fake. A few months later Barbara moves into a duplex in Overland Park, Kansas. Quickly she notices that JR only visits her for sex. And he only comes during the day. On one of the rare occasions they go out, they went out, he picked up a stun gun that he
Starting point is 01:43:29 purchased in her name. Hmm. Barbara ultimately decided to move to Canada. She got tired of his shit. She and JR are still talking though and he's talking about joining her in Canada in the spring of 2000. They agreed to pool their resources and for some reason she will be the main earner once he's living up in Canada as her you know fiance or whatever. She doesn't know but she is now JR's escape plan. If he gets in too much trouble in the States he thinks he can bounce on out of the country. She also doesn't know that JR is you know talking to another woman in Canada
Starting point is 01:43:58 in addition to all the other women he's talking to. This other woman is Laura Remington. Laura was a wife and mother living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Oh, Halifax. Any longtime space of listeners know I love that place. Anyway, she was in her early 30s when she met JR. Laura, cool name, enjoyed of course BDSM chat rooms and had met a few close friends online. In 1996 Laura started chatting with Suzette Troughton, a young woman from Monroe, Michigan. They spent hours talking and learning they had a lot and learned they had a lot in common. Laura started chatting with Suzette Troughton, a young woman from Monroe, Michigan. They spent hours talking and learning they had a lot in common.
Starting point is 01:44:28 Suzette was the youngest of five children. Her parents were married, divorced three times. Suzette also, like Laura, dealt with a lot of emotional issues around her weight. I wonder if it doesn't say in sources, but I wonder if her parents, the way they word it, it sounds like they got divorced three times but then came back back to each other which is fucking crazy. That's a quite a relationship She once attempted suicide sadly by shooting herself in the stomach. Oh, that sounds like an especially painful way to do it She survived of course By the time she was in her mid-20s. She was a happy person searching for more in life
Starting point is 01:44:59 She was a health care worker who assisted elderly patients and she wanted to go to school to become a nurse Another one of Suzette's online friends was a woman named Tammy Taylor from Ontario. All three women chatted online often talked about their lives and their interest in BDSM. And in 1998 Suzette and Lore met up in Detroit for a weekend-long fuckfest, but they both agreed that what they really wanted was some dick. They wanted a relationship with a man. A year later, Suzette and Tammy meet up in person and get it on. Puss on puss. Then in 1999, Laura mentions that she is still seeking a dominant male partner and Suzette tells her about JR, this great businessman from Kansas who calls himself the Slave Master. Suzette first met JR in the spring of 1999 in a BDSM chat room called Silk
Starting point is 01:45:45 and Steel. He told her he was building a new website for the International Council of Masters, that secret BDSM society JR claimed to be a part of that I think he entirely fabricated, and Suzette offered to help him build that website. They emailed regularly, Suzette told him things about her life, which JR used to his advantage. He said he needed a caretaker for his elderly father, a man named, oh boy, haven't heard this name in a little while, Papa John. Oh, hell yeah. Better BDSM brutality. Better slave masters. Papa Doms. Do you love pepperoni slut? Do you love sausage? Do you want my sausage, slave? Beg for me to come on your pepperoni nipple, slut. You want extra cheese, don't
Starting point is 01:46:32 you, slave? You want me to stuff your crust? Papadoms will stuff the fuck out of your crust, slut. Fill it full of the master's cheese. Papadoms, papadons! He wanted Suzette. Back to JR now. He wanted Suzette to travel to Kansas to be with him. And Suzette, who's having trouble paying her rent and living expenses, happily accepted. She sent her friend, Laura, a photo of JR, and Laura will now eventually reach out to JR and chat with him in another one of his handles. Erudite master, or Erudite. Laura was concerned for Suzette when she told, when she talked about her job opportunity with JR. Tammy was also skeptical. Suzette told him she could earn $65,000 a year,
Starting point is 01:47:12 travel to places like Hawaii, Hong Kong. She did mention that she'd probably be expected to, you know, have sex with her boss, but she was into that. Laura advised her against it. Suzette was determined to go though. She are paid for her flight in the fall of 1999, had a limo pick her up. Oh hell yeah, to Kansas City Airport. Suzette brought her two Pekingese dogs, Pika and Hari, with her. JR treated her well during her visit. They talked about the job opportunities. Suzette still wasn't sure about making the big move, returned home. But then she returned to Kansas in November of 1999 agreed to sign a one-year contract to take care of JR's father Papa Dom's
Starting point is 01:47:49 What she didn't know was that Papa John JR's father had been dead for a decade in mid February 2000 Suzette left Michigan for good. She arrived in Kansas City February February 14th She didn't start working right away JR put her in a motel called Guest House Suites in Overland Park He would show up occasionally for sex or to take nude photos of her. Suze didn't want to, didn't do much, excuse me, besides email her friends and family. And she had to put her dogs in a kennel because the motel didn't allow pets. Oh man, the sad choices people make when they're desperate.
Starting point is 01:48:18 In the last week of February, J.R. told her that she would be going to California soon. Great news. And then after that, holy shit, they were gonna sail to Hawaii and then Australia on his luxury yacht. Fuck yeah! Did she ever think I wonder if this motherfucker has enough money for a yacht and can afford the gas and crew a yacht would need to travel from California to Hawaii and then to Australia, why is he putting her up in a cheap ass place called the Guess How Suites that won't allow her dogs? Before they left, JR said he needed her to sign a cheap ass place called the Guess How Suites that won't allow her dogs? Before they left, JR said he needed her to sign 30 blank sheets of paper and address 40 envelopes to her friends and family. She was going to be so busy. She simply wouldn't have time to write anyone. So it's best to do it now.
Starting point is 01:49:00 God, you would think that she would have a lot of time to write those letters while out on a yacht. Did you make her think that she was going to have to captain the boat, maybe work in the engine room? God, it pisses me off he can do people with just shitty lies. Also, JR films a sexual encounter with Suzette at the time that investigators will later look at. Actually, it'll be shown at the trial. The video starts off with Suzette laying naked
Starting point is 01:49:16 on the bed in the hotel room. Down under by men at work is playing in the background instead of, you know, this kind of shit. Very different vibe. Let me play a different part very different vibe than the sex wave stuff here not what I expected not what I expected come from a land down under Suzette's wearing a chain held together by a silver butterfly pendant in the video that connects her two pierced nipples starts thrusting a dildo in and out of her vagina. Her clitoris also
Starting point is 01:49:47 pierced moaning for the camera. She pulls on her nipple chains and says, this is what you wanted master to tell you I'm your slut. Your ass, your cunt, your lips, everything is yours. Who are you? Robinson says off-camera. Your slut, your slave, she says. Whose pussy is this? He asks. Are you a whore? A slut? Do you like your cock bitch? Yes master. Robinson, also nude, now appears on the screen kneeling on the bed. Suzette goes down on him while she does. He hits her several times in the back with a leather flogger. He spanks her. Then they figured out they figure out how to use this thing called a transcutaneous electricalrical Nerve Stimulation Unit.
Starting point is 01:50:26 TENS, used to stimulate genitals with a small electrical charge. Suzette seems to enjoy it. She seems light about everything. Giggling. JR, the slave master, never smiles. Very serious, never seems to relax, almost seems embarrassed. She mounts him. He calls her all kinds of names again. You know, whore, bitch, slut, etc. He tells her, quote, the most important thing you are in your life is my slave. Pulls her hair, slaps her ass, you know, you get it. Before spanking her and finishing, he asks her, like, you know, bending her over his knee, he asks her, did you sign the contract? She nods yes. Would you give
Starting point is 01:51:02 your life for your master? Yes, she says and then when he was done How is this for a circus trick? Suzette now positions herself directly in front of the lens. She's standing up and three golf balls fall out of her vagina Okay, I did not see that coming at all So many questions. How long have they been up there? Were they used golf balls or new ones? Well, is he gonna play 18 holes with them later? Did he put those golf balls into a pussy? And how was his dick in there with those three golf balls? Ah, vaginas are so mysterious.
Starting point is 01:51:36 2 a.m. February 29th, 2000 now. Suzette and her friend Laura Remington exchange emails. They emailed again around 8 p.m. Suzette chatted with her friend until 3 a.m. most likely because she believed she wouldn't have internet access for a while. She and JR were supposed to leave later that day to go to California. She was gonna have to break down her desktop computer. Suzette called her mom at 1 a.m. to tell her about her travel plans. Then on the morning of March 1st, 2000, JR called Suzette at Guest House Suites to tell her it's time to leave. Before she left, she wanted her to see his property near Lecine, see the farm.
Starting point is 01:52:11 And then she's never seen again. At 11.43 a.m. that morning, somebody made a phone call from the trailer at the farm. Two hours later, that'll come up in court later. Two hours later, JR checked out Suzette's dogs from boarding. He was captured on security cameras, paying for Suzette's room with a motel. Stopped by his unit at Needmore Storage in Olathe to drop off some of her belongings as well. JR took Suzette's dogs to Santa Barbara Estates, left them outside of Nancy's office, called
Starting point is 01:52:37 Animal Control to report two loose dogs. They're picked up by Animal Control Officer Rodney McLean. He notices that they were two purebred dogs, well groomed, friendly, obviously not strays. He took them to the shelter and they were scheduled for euthanasia March 9th if they were not adopted. March 6th, a local couple named Vicki and Dan Wagner adopt the female dog. Later that same day, volunteer Ginny Holbert gives the male dog away. And is anyone else super relieved that these dogs ended up okay?
Starting point is 01:53:07 But also sad they were separated. Yeah, me too And also with jangles man people dying in this episode left and right and when polishing up the research I didn't feel too much of an emotional reaction to a lot of that But suddenly two little dogs are dropped off at a kill shelter scheduled for youth in Asia. I'm like no Oh you motherfucker no please I can't take it March 2nd JR reassembles to that's computer spends hours going through email to get her passwords other data he studies her writing style or contacts begin sending emails to her friends let
Starting point is 01:53:37 him know that she has started her trip around the world he's got this grift dialed in March 6 that's mother Carol receives a letter signed by Suzette. She is immediately suspicious, though. She thought the letter was too detailed. It was written on February 28th, supposedly mailed from the West Coast, but postmarked from Kansas City. Slave maps are getting lazy! Carol then received a letter from San Jose, California that said,
Starting point is 01:54:00 Well, I'm off on the adventure of a lifetime. She noticed this letter had no spelling errors, which was highly unusual for Suzette. J.R. must not have studied her writing style too closely this time. Then by mid-March, Carol had not heard from her daughter for two weeks, also unusual. March 21st, Suzette sent her an email
Starting point is 01:54:17 informing her that she was departed from California. Again, felt like it was written by somebody else. So Carol decided to report Suzette is missing to the Lenexa Police Department, Lenexa just north of Olathe, Kansas, another Kansas city suburb. Detectives looked into recent dog adoptions at local shelters after Carol told them about Suzette's missing dogs. They find Dan and Vicki Wagner, who had adopted Suzette's female dog. When an officer called the dog Pekka instead of her new name, dog perked up right away, responded as if she
Starting point is 01:54:44 recognized that name. So now they know that in all likelihood something very bad has happened to Suzette. Another thing that was missing was Suzette's furniture. The police found a storage locker in Raymore, Missouri, just across the border from the scene. As mentioned earlier, JR rented a unit there. Detectives set up a camera at the facility, asked the manager to keep an eye out, but JR never came back during the surveillance period.
Starting point is 01:55:05 Fortunately, Suzette had given her mother JR's home cell and pager numbers. And now Carol decided it was time to call him. This poor woman. He told the extremely worried mother that Suzette had in fact not accepted his job offer. Oh man, instead went on a trip around the world with some other dude named Jim Turner, one of JR's commonly used aliases. He claims Suzette emailed him, said she was having a great time. Carol does not buy this fucker's bullshit, she is more worried than ever, and she told
Starting point is 01:55:33 him she was going to the police. JR panics, tries to talk her out of it, saying his daughter once went to Europe, behaved the same way that Suzette was acting, she'll contact you soon, let's all be fine. While Carol followed her gut instinct, responded to the entire suspicious conversation to the police. JR now knew the cops were on to him again. He'd had the cops talk to him about his various crimes, literally his entire adult life. But this time felt different. This time he worried he would not be able to talk his way out of the situation.
Starting point is 01:55:59 So he starts making plans with his old buddy Barbara Sandre about moving to Canada to go live with her. He knew that his time was fucking finally almost up in the States and wanted to way out. Late March of 2000, the Lenexa PD learned about Suzette's online friendships with Laura Remington and Tammy Taylor. The two women were questioned, asked to provide information about Suzette's online relationships. Laura only knew John Robinson as JRT, or JT. She offered to continue to chat with him, try and get some info, and for the next few
Starting point is 01:56:27 months she will forward all of her emails with him to the police. During their talks, JT suggested that Laura talk to his other handle, Erudite Master, to discuss a dominant submissive relationship. Laura then receives a message from Suzette telling her that erudite master was a wonderful dominant and she should get involved with him. She also received JR's favorite photo of himself where he's dressed up in some cowboy gear. Oh yee-haw! What a cowboy! Laura asked her friend Tammy Taylor to start emailing JT as well to see if she could get anything else out of him. JR told her that his name was Tom. He
Starting point is 01:57:01 started sending her emails from yet another account with the handle of slave dancer. Now Steve Hames, the Missouri parole officer who has been worried about JR for over 15 years since 1985, receives a call from a member of a task force now that's been put together by the Lenexa Petey to finally catch this motherfucker for something he will stay in prison for a long time for. Hames has a massive file on JR and all the women in his orbit who had gone missing. He is literally the only law enforcement officer who has been keeping a close eye on this suspect for all these years.
Starting point is 01:57:33 Over the next few months, Haymes works with the task force, supplying them with more and more leads to follow up on and the evidence just keeps building and building. They're finally putting together a strong case against JR not just for financial crimes but for murder. Also in March, the police get a tip from an employee at the Extended Stay America hotel in Johnson County, near Guest House Suites, where Suzette Troughton had stayed before she disappeared. JR booked room 20 for several days and had a female guest staying in the room. One morning, the woman came to the front desk, asked the clerk to copy some sheets of paper. One page got stuck and the clerk threw it in the trash.
Starting point is 01:58:04 Looking at it later, he saw that it was a document that gave a man total control over a woman. That slave contract. At this time, it was routine procedure for Kansas City police departments to have businesses submit lists of long-term guests. And when a detective came to extend to stay in America to pick up this list, the employee handed him a copy of that slave contract. Well, the contract made its way into the hands of Detectives Dave Brown and Jack Boyer, who started looking into JR and saw his lengthy criminal record. Dave, he's got all kinds of law enforcement looking into him. Dave Brown was sent to Monroe, Michigan to talk to Carol Trout and about Suzette, her mom.
Starting point is 01:58:38 Jack Boyer talked to Laura Remington and learned how the BDSM online world worked. And still, she was continuing her talks with JT without tipping him off. Meanwhile, Detective Don Layman is following JR around Kansas City and into Lecine. He's got people surveilling him. March 29th, Detective Layman follows JR to his farm. She returns the next day to take pictures of his trailer and barn. She did need a search warrant because he didn't have any no trespassing signs posted and she didn't go inside any of the buildings. I didn't know that's how that worked in some places When she returned April 15, she saw the property now had no trespassing signs and a makeshift gate
Starting point is 01:59:13 So no more free passes to snoop around he's on to her Task force continues surveilling JR seven days a week fucking all day long trying to gather evidence Connecting to the disappearance and likely murder of Suzette Troughton. Despite this heat on him, JR does not alter his lifestyle. He's probably getting off on all the attention. And I'm sure things with his arrogant ass, he can continue to outsmart the cops and feds right up until the time he just needs to bounce to Canada. Alright, he'll get away. April of 2000, JR begins another affair with a woman named Vicki Newfield. This time a psychologist
Starting point is 01:59:45 from Galveston, Texas. My god. Vicki had been exploring the BDSM world for the past five years. She was divorced, had two kids, and in the spring of 2000 started chatting with JR on a BDSM website. She'd lost her job March 10th, needed financial support, so she posted an ad online seeking a long-term relationship with a dom. And JR responded.
Starting point is 02:00:06 Vicki told JR she was looking for work, a sexual relationship, wanted to merge the two. He said he was a divorced businessman. If she sent her qualifications, she could arrange job interviews, help her get her therapy license back even in Kansas City. And they agreed to meet. April 23rd, 2000, Vicki drives 700 miles with her dog, checks in to an Extended Stay America in Overland Park, and this time law enforcement knows she's coming. A task force surveillance team set up in an adjoining room and would listen to everything. J.R. shows up at 9.30 the next morning, tells Vicki he's running late because
Starting point is 02:00:38 he'd just gotten back from a business trip. J.R. wants Vicki to sign a slave contract. She's hesitant about some of the terms, but she does sign. J.R. wants Vicky to sign a slave contract. She's hesitant about some of the terms but she does sign. J.R. said that if they had good chemistry they could pursue a real dom-slave relationship and Vicky could live or master-slave could live with him until she found a job. And this conversation or after this conversation they removed their clothes. J.R. asked Vicky to you know give him a blowjob. blowjob after she's done. JR shows her a duffel bag full of chains, ropes, collars, floggers, etc. for the next time they meet up.
Starting point is 02:01:11 He then gives Vicky some money for food and abruptly leaves the hotel. Vicky was now having doubts. Yeah, old JR was never a real handsome man, but he's certainly not a looker right now. He's 56 years old, pudgy, bald. He's got some sort of spongy dick, compatible with fucking a vagina full of golf balls, so there's that. Part of his face doesn't move. She wonders if she should go home, but she felt that she couldn't because she signed that contract. As if that was a thing that would hold up in court. Come on! You're fucking
Starting point is 02:01:38 psychologists, you should know more than this. No, Vicki, you cannot return to Texas. This court has determined that you cannot pick your own clothes, choose your own sexual escapades, even go peepee in the potty like a good girl without your master's permission now. You belong to Mr. John Edward Robinson. It's all right here. It's all right here. This legally binding contract that you signed.
Starting point is 02:02:02 I'm starting to understand how she lost her job as a therapist. She also didn't have enough money to pay for the trip back to Texas and she didn't want to ask for money because she didn't want her family involved in her private life. JR showed up the next morning around 11 a.m. He became angry when he asked Vicki to put on spiked heels and she said no. What the fuck? JR removed her sweater, put a collar and handcuffs on her. Vicki was nervous and her past experiences with BDSM, there were discussions about what would happen. But JR was ordering her around with no talks of consent. Looks like she didn't read all the fine print of the slave contract. He now starts taking pictures of her. He laughs when she asks him to stop.
Starting point is 02:02:38 She told him she was going to leave if he didn't stop and JR, now he unties her, puts his clothes back on. He tells her if she wants a job, she has to JR, he unties her, puts his clothes back on, he tells her if she wants a job she has to do what he fucking tells her and that perhaps she should reconsider her contract because she is not fulfilling her role and he leaves in a huff. Well Vicky calls him later that day apologizes. JR assures her the pictures he took were just for his personal use and he shows up at the hotel the next day for more sex. At one point he asked Vicky how does my slave want it? When she doesn't respond, he slaps her hard, twice, across the face. She gets upset because she had not agreed to that.
Starting point is 02:03:11 And then JR demands that she suck his dick. She's hesitant, but she does it. Afterwards, they discuss her going back to Texas to have her belongings shipped to Kansas. JR says he has to go on a business trip to the Middle East while she's gone. Before he leaves, GR takes her bag of sex toys with him, saying that it was a way to get her to come back to him. And Vicky was pissed. Most of her sex toys were expensive gifts, and some of them had sentimental value. Okay. This picture of her staring at a butt plug and just crying,
Starting point is 02:03:40 oh, I remember that day. Oh, Timmy. The detectives next door heard this whole conversation, but so far nothing has happened that is warranted an arrest. While in Texas, Vicki emails JR asking for a list of references, referrals to set up job interviews. He gives her the addresses of prospective employers, but not their names or phone numbers. After a week, she's still in Texas waiting to hear from JR about a van that was supposed to ship her furniture to Kansas. And Vicki calls him and leaves a message saying, I feel that you used me. Please send my stuff back.
Starting point is 02:04:09 JR told her, hey, I've been in Israel. Now he said he was secretly a colonel in the Air Force. And Vicky needed to trust him. My God. Vicky was having serious doubts about the relationship at this point. And she just wants to end things. But she also wants her sex toys back. And she threatens to go to the police if he won't return them. Soon after she makes that threat she starts receiving phone calls where the caller won't say anything and quickly hangs up. He's
Starting point is 02:04:32 fucking with her. Well Vicky learns the caller's timing starts blowing a whistle into the receiver and that gets the calls to stop. Oh I bet that infuriated him. JR also called warned her that if she kept harassing him about her sex toys his attorney would inform the professional association of licensed psychologists that she was in a BDM relationship with a slave and he would expose the nude photos he took of her. Vicki, to her credit, wasn't going to be intimidated and decided to call the police anyway. More on her in a bit. Those stolen sex toys are going to have a hand in taking him down later. Oh my god.
Starting point is 02:05:04 During his relationship with Vicky, JR was also talking to another woman, so many women, this woman named Jeannie Miliron. This dude could really multitask. Jeannie was a divorced accountant from Texas. She put an ad on a BDSM website, of course, seeking a dominant partner. She received a response from a dude named James Turner. James Turner wanted Jeannie to work for him, have a sexual relationship. They decide to meet in person, see if the relationship will work. Here we go again. JR arranges for Jeannie to come to Extended State America in early May of 2000. The police again set up a surveillance unit at the hotel. There at the hotel they discussed Jeannie taking on a job as his bookkeeper, taking care
Starting point is 02:05:40 of his house. He wouldn't pay her a salary but he would handle her expenses and bills. They have sex at the Extended State of America, but first JR punishes her, slaps her back and breasts, because she wasn't naked and kneeling when he arrived. The door was locked. Mm-hmm. After he'd finished, he quickly left the hotel and Jeannie wondered what the hell she'd gotten herself into. He had hit harder than she'd expected. Jeannie spent the weekend by herself at the hotel. JR showed up on Monday, asked for her social security number now for insurance purposes. This makes her uneasy and she gives him a fake number. Smart.
Starting point is 02:06:12 He gives her a hundred bucks and instructs her to go back to Texas, close her bank accounts, get ready to return to Kansas around Mother's Day. And Jeannie does as he asked. She returns to Kansas in mid-May, meets JR at the guest house suites in Overland Park. The police not conducting surveillance at this location. When JR met her for sex this time, he was upset that she was not naked and kneeling in the corner with her hair tied back like he had instructed, so he punishes her again. He slaps her breasts hard enough to leave bruises, then takes photos of the bruises
Starting point is 02:06:40 against her wishes. And then after roughly fucking her, he leaves. Jeannie complains to JR that she was bored now, being alone so much. He gives her a bit of cash, tells her to go to the mall. But that's not what she wanted. She now realizes they're never going to have the relationship she desired. And she feels angry and used. She wants revenge. After one more horrible encounter with JR, Jeannie goes down to the lobby after he leaves, asked to see a copy of the driver's license of the man who paid for the room. And now she learns his real name is John Robinson, not Jim Turner. She's so upset she can't call the police and the clerk helps her. May 20th, 2000, Jeannie gives an extensive interview with the task force.
Starting point is 02:07:18 JR is still under heavy surveillance. Recently he'd caught on to the police, constantly watching him, and he put cameras around his home to give them a heads up when they were around. Meanwhile, his old friend Barbara Sandre getting frustrated with him. She was expecting him to meet her in Canada in June, and now it was looking like that wasn't gonna happen. Also speaking in Canada, Laura Remington,
Starting point is 02:07:38 still chatting with JR, trying to get more info about her missing friends, Suzette Troughton. She didn't know the police had tapped his phone line, and on May 25th, JR called her and identified himself as James. And the two had phone sex for a while before she asked about Suzette.
Starting point is 02:07:52 He is such a horny bastard. JR now tells her that he had a private investigator looking for Suzette. He learned Suzette and her lover had sailed around Mexico and claimed Suzette had stolen 10 grand from him. He said about her, quote, "'I'm getting a profile of a fucking psychotic bitch who was fucking people for money and being a prostitute. Best defense is a good offense approach, I guess.
Starting point is 02:08:13 Late May Suzette Trouton's family starts receiving letters mailed from Mexico with her signature. Letters claimed that she and Jim Turner were sailing around the coast. Also in late May the police learn of a new scheme around the coast. Also in late May the police learn of a news scheme JR is pulling that is eerily similar to the Lisa Stasi and Sheila Faith cases he was on top of everything else he's doing. Also talking to a divorced woman in Tennessee for fuck's sake. Doing all of this while he knows a ton of cops were surveilling him. He convinces this Tennessee woman to come to Kansas with her child also to bring in the title of her car. She planned to meet him in a few weeks.
Starting point is 02:08:45 And not done. JR also in talks at this time with his 17 year old mother who had recently given birth. He told her that she could come live on his farm near Lecine if she agreed to become his sex slave. His farm where he is still living, at least on the weekends, going with his wife Nancy. The police learn about both of these new women he's talking to. They know they're in grave danger and they need to arrest him soon. The DA's office prepares an arrest warrant for June 1st, 2000.
Starting point is 02:09:14 That same day some teens are playing loud rap music at Santa Barbara Estates. JR actually calls the police and one of the teens ends up getting arrested and put in juvie. Fucking balls on this guy! This will be the last positive interaction JR has with law enforcement. He's arrested the next day. Just after 10am June 2nd, 2000, a group of plainclothes detectives surround JR's home, knock on the door, he lets them inside, look real nervous. Old Nan's OG sex slave, or maybe woman who just never let him pull that shit with her,
Starting point is 02:09:42 had left early for work because she was mad again at JR. They'd gotten to another argument about Barbara Sondre. JR became more and more agitated the longer the police talked to him. Detective Boyer told him that a couple of women had recently accused him of sexual assault. He acted like he was shocked. Who, me? JR was even more surprised when the detective brought up Lisa Stasi and she was at Troughton. JR was now booked on sexual assault and theft charges for stealing Vicki Newfield's sex toys. God, I fucking love that part of the arrest. I love that the arrest that took down this clown, one of the two charges was related to him taking one of his BDSM sex slave sex toys. How fitting for the slave master? Three detectives now search his home at Santa Barbara states, take a bunch of
Starting point is 02:10:25 items to a crime lab, including five computers. Five, dude had five computers there. And took every floppy disk they could find. Also found the following items. A blank sheet of stationery signed by Lisa Stasi. An envelope, envelope. They found an envelope. Oh my God.
Starting point is 02:10:42 Guys, check it out. I found an envelope. No, they found an envelope. Addressed to Marty Elidge, one of Lisa's relatives. Receipts from the roadway in showing the showing that JR checked Lisa Stasi out on the same day she went missing. Social security forms for missing persons Debbie and Sheila Faith. Credit card for James Turner. Two sets of business cards for Hydro Grow with the names James Turner and John E Robinson on them application for articles of incorporation for Hydro Grow from missing person Beverly Bonner a fax of a credit card application signed by Beverly dated May 11th 1998 the same day
Starting point is 02:11:17 the arrest detectives executed a search warrant at need more storage in Aliza Kansas and there they found missing persons Suzette Trouton's passport application, birth certificate, social security card, fucking suspicious, 42 pre-addressed envelopes to her family and 31 signed sheets of paper, slave contracts signed by Suzette, nude photos of Suzette, that tape from February 2000 of JR and Suzette having sex that I talked about, Suzette's journal, other personal belongings, missing person Isabella Luica's driver's license and Purdue ID card plus a slave contract, nude photo of Isabella Luica, photos of other nude women in bondage gear, and finally they found, thank God,
Starting point is 02:11:59 Vicki Newfield's stolen sex toys, oh which she would get back to the great pleasure of her heart, but vagina I I am guessing oh what a moist reunion they must have had I just picture her taking the box these sex toys you know inside her home opening them just crying a bit when she hugged some of her favorite dildos vibrators nipple clamps etc all the while this song from Dirty Dancing is playing just really like an emotional moment. Just her staring at her toys. Just dancing around the living room. She starts undressing. Flinging clothes around.
Starting point is 02:12:33 The happiest she's ever been. Tears going down her cheeks. Other liquid going down her other cheeks. She has the most intense, joyous, thigh-shaking, quivering orgasm of her life. And oh, it it all to you. Thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust. That's probably funny to me that it should be. I can't stop.
Starting point is 02:12:54 This is not an episode. I was just waiting to get to that part. It's so funny to me to think about just like this really just emotional reunion with this box of sex toys. JR's wife learns her husband has been arrested and Nancy, oh fucking Nancy Jo, when she notices all the commotion during the search for the home at the trailer park that she is managing and she will soon be informed that her husband has been arrested for sexual battery. I doubt she was shocked.
Starting point is 02:13:19 Nancy later revealed that she learned JR was visiting BDSM websites at least as far back as 1998. She asked him about it back then. He said he was exploring the internet. And that was the end of the conversation. Oh typical Nance! Ha ha! Don't ask, don't tell! What a great policy in her marriage. She just didn't want to know what he was up to because she probably figured he was doing some shady shit.
Starting point is 02:13:38 The day after JR's arrest on June 3rd, the police searched JR's farm near Leceen, Kansas, bringing cadaver dogs with them. They weren't finding anything during the first half of the day. Detectives started getting nervous. They weren't gonna find the incriminating evidence they hoped. But then just before 1 p.m., a cadaver dog alerts them to two 85-gallon barrels on the property. Soon one of the officers notices a reddish liquid oozing from the lid and down the side. As the officer gets closer, they smell the distinctive scent of a dead body. When they open the lid of one of the barrels, they are hit by a putrid odor and when they look inside, they see what seemed to be a decomposing flesh. A body with its head pointed down,
Starting point is 02:14:14 sitting in about a foot of rancid fluid. It was bloated and purplish. Oh my god. Inside the second barrel was a pillow on top of more human remains. This body seemed older than the one in the first barrel. Not sure why the pillow would be there. The first barrel contained a naked human in a fetal position. Once the fluid was drained, the medical examiner saw that the victim was a woman with long dark hair and a ponytail. She had genital and nipple piercings, which were connected to a metal chain with a silver butterfly pendant.
Starting point is 02:14:41 Just like on the videotape of Suzette Troughton. Piece of cloth covered her face like a blindfold the woman suffered a skull fracture consistent with a hammer blow the wound left bone debris in her brain she got hit real hard. She had no defensive wounds likely never saw the hammer the hammer coming for her. She'd been dead anywhere from a couple of months to a year her hands were processed for prints a rib bone removed for DNA testing over the next few days a forensic oh oh my gosh, oh my gosh, odontologist, don't say that word a lot, identified her as Suzette Troughton. Second barrel contained a female with
Starting point is 02:15:14 long matted hair. She was wearing a sheer black shirt partially covered by a pillowcase. She had two overlapping holes in her skull, also consistent with hammer blows, hairline fracture to the jaw, and again no defensive wounds. She had been dead anywhere from six months to two years. Dental records would identify her as young Isabella Luica. Detectives returned to the farm, spent almost a week taking samples. They found nine hammers, two picks, a chisel. Inside a trash can, they found a roll of duct tape with blood stains on the side, a piece
Starting point is 02:15:41 of blood-stained paper towel in the kitchen sink. Blood, hair, and human tissue found on the baseboard of the bedroom or on a baseboard in the bedroom. Testing revealed that the blood on the paper towel and baseboard belonged to Suzette Trout. God, he didn't even bother to clean up the room that she was murdered in. Not really. June 5th, Johnson County, Kansas, DA Paul Morrison presented his search warrant to Cass County, Missouri, DA Chris Koster because JR had a storage locker in Raymore, Missouri that needed to be searched. That same day, DA Koster and some detectives head to Raymore to search the storage locker at Stormore for less. They opened up the unit, find three barrels which were hidden by all the junk in the storage locker. Two of them were wrapped in duct tape and in the corner items
Starting point is 02:16:22 were stacked on top of them. One barrel was by itself labeled rendered pork fat. Each one of those barrels contained a body. Barrel 1 contained a female dressed in pants, a tweed jacket, a blouse, and gloves. She had blunt force injuries on the left side of her head and forehead. No defensive wounds. Dental records will identify her as the doctor's wife. Prison librarian Beverly Bonner. Barrel 2 contained a female with long dark hair.
Starting point is 02:16:46 Her upper denture was broken in half. She had fractures on the back of her head and face. Hole in her head was the size of a fucking orange. Injuries consistent again with hammer blows. Her right forearm was broken, which was a defensive wound. Oh God, she saw it coming. She tried to fight back. Third barrel contained the body of a teenager with a degenerative condition and a misshapen pelvis. The victim suffered
Starting point is 02:17:07 multiple blows to the side of the head, no defensive wounds. Dental records cannot identify bodies two and three, but a forensic anthropologist would determine that the body in barrel two, of course Sheila Faith, and the body in barrel three, her teen daughter Debbie. Detectives next found property manager Julia Brown, who rented the unit on Edgebrook Street in Olathe, Kansas to JR, and she explained that he moved out unexpectedly in 1999. He left most of the apartment filthy, but the bedrooms strangely had been meticulously cleaned and painted. Blood spatters were still found though on a bedroom wall that belonged to Isabella Lewicka.
Starting point is 02:17:44 And now how fucked up is this? After gathering all this evidence, Johnson County DA Paul Morrison has to tell JR's brother Don and his wife Helen that their daughter Heather is missing person and very likely murder victim Lisa Stasi's biological daughter. Heather's 15 years old now. Can you imagine how much that news would rock your world at 15? Such a highly emotional age. And how much would that fuck up Don and Helen to find out that Don's brother JR did not do any adoption work to find them a baby? No, he killed someone, stole her baby, and then sold that baby to them. Carl Stasi had submitted a DNA test to prove he was the biological father. Heather's parents wanted to protect her identity
Starting point is 02:18:24 a DNA test to prove he was the biological father. Heather's parents wanted to protect her identity, but then the Kansas City Star paper published her high school photo on the front page. My god! How much did that fuck shit up for her at school? Don and Helen issued a joint statement to an FBI agent, also wanted the public to know that they had also been betrayed by John Robinson, were cooperating with the authorities, they had never kept Heather's adoption a secret, they had always planned on helping her find her birth family. Phew man, but not like this. Their main focus was now helping their daughter get through this difficult time, that poor family.
Starting point is 02:18:57 Nancy Robinson also issued a statement on behalf of her family. We as a family have followed the events of the last week in horror and dismay along with each of you. As each day has passed, the surreal events have built into a narrative that is almost beyond comprehension. While we do not discount the information that has and continues to come to light, we do not know the person whom we have read and heard about on TV. John Robinson is a loving and caring husband.
Starting point is 02:19:20 No, he's not. Fuck off. John Robinson, you knew he was not a good husband, but she says he's a loving and caring husband and father. We wait with each of you for the cloud of allegations and innuendo to clear revealing at last the facts. Come on, Nance, after all he put you through, did you really think he was a good guy? Kansas, in Kansas, J.R. was charged with the murders of Lisa Stasi Isabella, Louie key, Wicca Excuse me and Suzette Troughton in Missouri He was charged with the murders of Sheila Faith Debbie Faith and Beverly Bonner three in each state Although he will get two more murder charges added in Missouri
Starting point is 02:19:54 I'll mention later Missouri also charged him with 56 counts of fraud and forgery the legal proceedings were long and complex Jr's case file contained 21,000 768 pages of documents. Crazy. The preliminary hearing started February 5, 2001, lasted five days. Nancy was told she did not have to testify against her husband, but she did anyway, but not really. She described how JR brought home a baby in January 1985, identified Tiffany Stasi from a photo. She didn't say anything that negatively affected JR's defense, but didn't help him either. Didn't provide an alibi for any of the times in question at this
Starting point is 02:20:32 point. She was seen as stoic, as woman after woman testified about their affairs with JR. Douglas and Singular wrote in their book, the grislier the details the more bland her expression became. Weird. What was going on in her head? JR was ordered to stand trial on seven out of eight of the most serious charges against him. Jeannie Milleron's assault charge was thrown out. July of 2001, JR fires his legal team from the Kansas death penalty defense unit, hires Bob Thomas, a young attorney who had graduated law school just months earlier, had no experience,
Starting point is 02:21:06 and Thomas now files, I'm sure Thomas is just like his pawn now, he does whatever he wants, Thomas now files many motions to try and get all the forensic evidence thrown out, arguing that detective Don Layman took photos of JR's property in March of 2000 without a warrant, but she didn't fucking need one. May 9th, the judge rules that the photos did not violate JR's rights, evidence will stay. JR's trial was delayed now due to the sheer volume of evidence both sides had to sort through to prepare his case. Once it gets going, it will turn out to be the longest trial in Kansas history. In the summer of 2002 now, JR's attorneys asked for a delay and at one point threatened
Starting point is 02:21:41 to quit the case because they had not had time to do any independent DNA testing They argued that the blood and hair belonged to someone other than JR or a victim They also argued that JR was showing signs of insanity in early September Dorothy Lewis a psychiatry professor at the NY school of medicine and a Clinical professor at Yale. This is fucking sad examine JR By the fence motion say the dr. Lewis indicates that mr. Robinson has a history of severe physical and emotional abuse throughout childhood, resulting in episodic disassociative states. Oh, got the fuck. How are you a professor?
Starting point is 02:22:12 History obtained independently of Mr. Robinson reflects that as many as four generations of family members may have suffered from such psychiatric illnesses similar to his. Yeah, did you talk to him? I doubt it. Dr. Lewis suspects that Mr. Robinson may suffer from bipolar mood disorder with disassociative features. Although substantial additional testing and investigation is necessary to reach a final conclusion. Why, Dorothy? Why do you let this shithead
Starting point is 02:22:37 fucking twist your mind around? The judge thankfully is smarter than the professor and denies the motions. Oh boy. And the trial date is set. Jury selection for JR's Kansas trial starts September 16, 2002. Selection of the jury took 15 days, finished on the 4th of October. DA Paul Morrison gave his opening statement on October 7th. He told the jury that the three murders were part of the long-standing common scheme or course of conduct which justified the capital murder charge and he just sighed at the end of a statement
Starting point is 02:23:10 and he just pointed at him he's like oh just fuck this guy come on fuck this guy no Sean O'Brien gave the opening statement for the defense he acknowledged JR was a serial philanderer and was unfaithful to Nancy he did not try to argue that JR was innocent but instead told the jury that the murders were not part of a common scheme, so he shouldn't be convicted of capital murder. O'Brien also raised the possibility that others were involved. The mysterious sex cult, the International Council of Masters. He noted that an unidentified fingerprint was found on a roll of duct tape inside the
Starting point is 02:23:42 trailer on the farm, and there was other DNA evidence not linked to JR. O'Brien spoke about BDSM, suggested that the victims were putting themselves in danger by traveling to see men they met online, wink, wink. Victim shaming is a defense strategy. That's not cringy at all. One of the key witnesses to the trial was Laura Remington.
Starting point is 02:24:00 Laura, I think I added uh there for a second. The day before she testified, she learned that the police had recorded her phone conversation with JR on May 25, 2000, and now the jury would hear their sexual conversation. It would take more than a full day to cover just her testimony alone. Nancy Robbins' testimony would be an important part of the trial. She testified that regardless of what he did while at work, or while she was at work, quote, my husband was always home in the evening.
Starting point is 02:24:25 God, you have low expectations for husbands. Under cross-examination, Danzi testified that JR did not have a good relationship with his mom saying his mother was very cold. There really wasn't a relationship between him and his mom. Well, you know what? You should just let him go. I mean, if somebody doesn't have a nice mom, they should get to do whatever they want. She said that he didn't even want to see his parents after his first child was born because of his mama. She was questioned about
Starting point is 02:24:47 March 1st, 2000. The prosecution believed Suzette Troughton killed at the farm on that day. Nancy clearly lying for her husband said she was, uh, not she, said he was with one of their grandkids when Suzette was murdered. When the prosecutor confronted her with the fact that she had never ever brought this up before, Nancy said, I guess, but I just don't remember. And people were amazed throughout the trial about how Nancy would not do anything to incriminate her husband. And some of their kids attended the trial, looked at their dad, not as a monster, but
Starting point is 02:25:13 a victim. God, he was so good at compartmentalization. Come home, cook for his family, make him dinner. On the days he fucking murdered several of these women, watch his grandkids on the days he killed or sexually tortured You know some of the slaves Man, the man his victims met was not the man his family knew at all October 14th
Starting point is 02:25:32 2002 the prosecution presents the tape of JR and Suzette Trout and having sex It was 39 minutes long and a topic of a lot of contention The prosecution only wanted to play six minutes for the jury But the defense argued that an edited version would be misleading. They thought the jury said see all or none. Well the judge sided with the defense, ordered anyone under the age of 18 to leave the courtroom. The lights were then dimmed.
Starting point is 02:25:56 Trench coats, sunglasses, and lotion were handed out to everyone present and the tape started to play. Obviously kidding about the trench coat and lotion stuff, but the rest is true. Many people looked down, some covered their eyes, some stared at the tape in complete shock. JR watched the whole thing. He beat off for a bit but he never came so he was not given any additional charges. Kidding again but he did watch. In addition to the tape the jury viewed photos of the victims and the barrels. The barrels themselves were actually brought into court. DA Morrison
Starting point is 02:26:22 climbed into one of the barrels and had a female assistant roll him around the courtroom to prove that one person could in fact move the barrel. That helped discredit a defense argument that others must have been involved. The defense presented just three witnesses before they rested. One of JR's attorneys told the judge, we haven't had adequate opportunity to develop these issues. The jury will know nothing about this crazy how crazy this man is. He has been on suicide watch since the beginning of the trial. Yeah, how about we follow that under who gives a fuck? In closing arguments, defense attorney Sean O'Brien reiterated that no hair or DNA of JR's was found on the barrels and an unidentified palm print found on the plastic covering one of the barrels was not his.
Starting point is 02:27:01 The defense arguments did not thankfully sway the jury and on October 29th, 2002, JR found guilty of six charges. Right before the verdict was announced, his daughter Christy mouthed him the words, I love you, and then left the courtroom in tears after the verdict. He was convicted of capital murder for the deaths of Suzette Troughton and Isabella Lewicki, Lewicka, and first degree murder for the death of Lisa Stasi. He was also convicted of aggravated kidnapping in the Suzette Troughton case interfering with parental custody for kidnapping Lisa Stasi's daughter and I love this theft for the heartless stealing of Vicki Newfield sex toys. Have the time of my life and I owe it all to you
Starting point is 02:27:48 The sensing phase started two days later. On Halloween, now, October 31st, 2002, Nancy returned to the stand to testify as a character witness for her husband, only this time she is trying to save him from the death penalty. Why? The DA asked Nancy if the murder convictions were enough to break the marital bond. She responded, I don't know, not right now. Would ask if she believed if JR killed all these women she said, if that's what the jury said, yes. Oh boy, Nancy testified that the thought of her husband being executed was devastating and that her family had listened to the facts presented in court but they grew up with someone else. JR cried in court the one and only time he would cry regarding any
Starting point is 02:28:32 of this when Nancy now talked about a prison visit with his granddaughter. Oh poor baby. Dude never showed any emotion emotion about his victims you know just cried for himself which is very typical. Defense tried to portray JR as a loving father and grandfather but again after all the evil shit the jury had heard Just cried for himself, which is very typical. Defense tried to portray JR as a loving father and grandfather, but again, after all the evil shit the jury had heard, they weren't swayed. Makes them look worse. November 2nd, 2002, the jury voted for the death penalty
Starting point is 02:28:52 for the murders of Troughton and Lewicka. JR also sentenced to life in prison, and I know that's not how you say her last name. Lewicka, Lewicka? Lewicka, I don't know why her name is so tricky. I missed one pronunciation little spot there and it's gonna drive me crazy. Oh, I was right. Louica. Just very, very important. I know that would ruin the entire episode if one time I didn't present her name
Starting point is 02:29:20 that I said correctly before correctly again. Okay, good. JR also sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Lisa Stasi because she was killed before Kansas reinstated the death penalty He was also given five to twenty years for interfering with parental custody in the kidnapping of Lisa's baby 20 years for kidnapping Suzette Trout and most importantly He did give get another seven months for what Vicky had to deal with. Holy shit give get another seven months for what Vicky had to deal with. Holy shit. She's got like a dildo on one hand, a butt plug in the other. It's the biggest grin she's ever had, just twirling around the room. Hair is blown back for some reason. Everything's kind of like, you know, blurry. It's like soft focus.
Starting point is 02:30:03 JR now transported to Missouri for his second trial, which actually won't take place because he'll take a plea deal. October 16, 2003, J.R. makes the plea acknowledging that the state of Missouri has enough evidence to convict him of capital murder in five cases. Beverly Bonner, Sheila and Debbie Faith, and also Paula Godfrey and Katherine Clampett. Eight murders in total now. In exchange for the submission, he is not given additional death penalties and is sentenced to five different terms of life without parole. February of 2005, Nancy Robinson finally files for divorce. Oh my god, after 41 years of marriage due to irreconcilable differences. Oh, yeah, you think? You fucking think so, Nance?
Starting point is 02:30:42 Investigators still unsure about how much she might have known about the murders before JR is arrested. There are definitely some law enforcement people not fans of Nance who think that she knew quite a bit. I also wonder what she knew. A lot of incentive over the years for her to turn a blind eye to whatever her husband was doing. Just let the money keep coming in. But also JR is so good at bullshitting people she may truly just be a victim. As with any capital murder case, JR will now spend the next several years appealing his convictions. November 6, 2015, the Kansas Supreme Court vacates the convictions for the Susan Trouton, Suzette Trouton and Lisa Stasi murders, but upholds the Isabella LaWicca conviction and its accompanying death sentence.
Starting point is 02:31:18 First time the Supreme Court upheld a death sentence since capital punishment reinstated there in 1994. death sentence since capital punishment reinstated there in 1994. JR returned to court again just two years ago, March of 2000 or 2022 to argue ineffective counsel. This guy won't quit evidentiary hearings held in February, March scheduled to continue until June. Then the news kind of like loses interest in it. He is fucking still trying to overturn his capital murder conviction to this day. According to the Kansas Department of Corrections offender search, John Robinson, currently 80 years
Starting point is 02:31:46 old, incarcerated at the El Dorado, should be El Dorado, Kansas, but you know fucking whatever, just make up words in that state, correctional facility. That slippery bastard probably live until he's 100. And I wouldn't be surprised if he's having some kind of fucking BDSM affair with someone in that prison right now. Let's get out of this timeline Good job soldier you've made it back God what a story John Edward Robinson JR the slave master the man considered the first serial killer to use the internet to lure in victims and he learned how to use the internet in
Starting point is 02:32:28 prison. He targeted victims in and around Kansas City. Kansas City, both Kansas and Missouri from the mid 80s to 2000 when he was finally arrested. He'd been caught in people since early 60s since right out he got out of high school. JR has a long history of forging documents, stealing from his employers, cheating on his wife with one exception before he was finally locked up for good when he'd get caught. If he couldn't talk his way out of having the charges brought against him dropped, he faced minimal or no jail or prison time when he was charged and convicted, which seemed to just encourage him to continue committing crimes. On the outside, Robinson seemed to most
Starting point is 02:33:03 people like a great family man. Successful entrepreneur, the man of the year for God's sake. He had a devoted wife, far too devoted actually, four well-behaved kids in addition to so many cool award-winning businesses that didn't exist in any recognizable business form. Of course this version of JR just a facade. The real JR underneath a monster. Excuse me, from 1984 to 1987 three young women, 19 year oldyear-old Polly Godfrey, 19-year-old Lisa Stasi, and 27-year-old Catherine Clampett would all go missing after responding to job ads posted by JR.
Starting point is 02:33:34 These women all thought they were going to get the opportunity to receive training, education, travel the world, making some good money, but they were tricked by a master manipulator and they were murdered. In the case of Lisa Stasi, Robinson also kidnapped her baby and sold this baby to her brother or his brother who have been trying along with his wife to have a child for a decade. Damn how he victimized his brother and sister-in-law in addition to baby Tiffany. His many many many holy shit there were so many financial crimes finally caught up to him in the late 80s. JR finally served
Starting point is 02:34:01 significant prison time but his time behind bars seemed to benefit him. He became a computer whiz, and after he got out of prison, was now able to take his scams online, exploring BDSM chat rooms, meeting women from all across the world, inviting multiple of them to travel to Kansas City and meet him. He even got laid while he was in prison. Started having an affair with Beverly Bonner, the prison librarian, wife of the doctor who shut down his attempt to malinger his way out of prison early, left that doctor to be with him. Got her to leave him, yeah, leave her husband. Then she disappeared after she was released, followed by Sheila and Debbie Faith, a mother and daughter, followed by Isabella Lewicka, a college student, and also followed by Suzette
Starting point is 02:34:39 Troughton, a nurse. On June 2, 2000, Jarrah was finally arrested for something other than scams. After a woman filed a sexual battery complaint against him, you know, and I mean also, but also this. I gotta find the play button. Also that, never forget. Never forget the reunion of a lifetime. Investigators obtained search warrants for his farm, found female bodies and two 85 pound barrels in the property. Bodies identified later as Isabella Lewicka, Suze Troughton. Three more women's bodies found in a storage unit in Missouri.
Starting point is 02:35:12 Victims killed by blunt force blows to the head with a hammer or hammer-like object. John Robinson went to trial in Kansas in 2002 convicted of three murders sentenced to death. A year later pled guilty to five murders in Missouri. Investigators suspect there are more victims. Uh, they are still not sure how many is, you know, how much his wife knew about the murders. Three victims, Paula Godfrey, Lisa Stasi, Catherine Clampett, never been found.
Starting point is 02:35:36 John Robinson still awaits execution in Kansas, but still filing appeals and being fucking 80 years old, probably never going to happen. He will very likely die of natural causes. And what a shame. And now how about we head to our takeaways. I have no more thoughts on this dirtbag outside of the ones I've already shared. Time Shuck Top 5 Takeaways Number one John Edward Robinson called the internet's first serial killer. The slave master. In the mid to late 90s, he used the worldwide web to have affairs with women all around the globe,
Starting point is 02:36:11 exploring BDSM chat rooms to find them. He'd meet numerous women seeking a dominant partner, who could financially support them in return for them being a sex slave. Strangely, not one person has ever offered for me to be their sex slave. How insulting. J.R. often pretended to be a wealthy businessman and invited these women to travel to Kansas City for a lucrative job opportunity. At least eight women fell victim to some version of this scam and were brutally beaten to death by John Robinson. One of the victims, a teenage girl with both cerebral palsy and spina bifida. Number two, John Robinson was able to compartmentalize his life to a remarkable degree.
Starting point is 02:36:45 OJR presented himself as a loving father, churchgoer, incredibly successful businessman. He maintained multiple relationships at the same time, plus additional online relationships, continued committing so many financial crimes that makes my head spin. Until he was arrested, his crimes were so numerous by the time he got caught, his case file exceeded 20,000 pages. And there was still undoubtedly so much of what he did that we just will never know about. Number three, one of JR's main tactics was to have future victims sign blank sheets of paper and other forms for him to use after their deaths to make it seem as if they were still alive. He typed up letters, sent them out to victims' families, reassuring them that they were, you know, loving their new job, traveling the world, or that they wanted to cut off all contact.
Starting point is 02:37:26 In several instances, these letters tricked the police into thinking the victims left home voluntarily and investigators or investigations were either paused or outright terminated. Number four, JR's ex-wife Nancy stayed with him for just over four decades, despite his constant financial crimes, continual cheating, murder allegations, despite murder convictions. She was aware of some of his affairs while they were happening and prosecutors don't know what if anything she may have known about the murders.
Starting point is 02:37:54 Number five, new info. Let's check back in with Heather Tiffany Robinson. Heather formerly known as Tiffany Stassi filed a civil suit against the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City and social worker Karen Gaddis. Her suit accused Gaddis of putting Robinson in contact with her mother after he told her he ran a charity that assisted unwed mothers of white babies, a charity that Gaddis did not look into like she should have. In 2007, Heather reached an undisclosed settlement with the center, which she planned to split
Starting point is 02:38:21 at that time with her biological grandmother, Patricia Sylvester, who she had reconnected with. Heather always knew that she was adopted, but she obviously did not know about her biological family until the summer of 2000, following JR's arrest. In 2019, she told ABC's 20-20 that she didn't remember much about her uncle JR, other than that he always gave her a weird off-putting feeling. She said, it's like walking down a dark alley in the middle of the night while you know someone's behind you, approaching you closer and closer. You just feel that dread drop into your stomach. Heather revealed that before Jara was arrested, she once attended a wedding in Florida where he was present and that he asked her, she wasn't even 16 at this time,
Starting point is 02:38:58 sexual questions and danced a little too close for her comfort. He told her that he knew things were rough with her mom at the time and he would send her a plane ticket if she ever wanted to come stay with him. Heather considered his offer but now believes she saved her life by declining it. She spoke about the arrest saying, when I heard that John had been arrested, I remember my adoptive mother running up and down the stairs panicking, how could he do this to us? We're going to go to jail. This is horrible. Our lives are over. Heather did an interview with her adoptive father, Donald, for a potential podcast episode. She asked him how he felt when he learned his brother was a serial killer and therefore learned her real identity. And he said, it was really the only time I broke down.
Starting point is 02:39:36 I had never really broken down before. That was the whole problem that we had was the possibility of losing you. Luckily, that didn't happen. Heather submitted her fingerprints and footprints to the FBI after Jarrah was arrested. Prints matched to the ones taken at the hospital when she was born. DNA testing confirmed she was Lisa Stasi's baby as I mentioned earlier. Heather was originally told she was born October 12th, 1984, actually born September 3rd that year. Heather recalled my first time celebrating the
Starting point is 02:40:02 September birthday would have been my sweet 16 I celebrated that locked in my room crying in bed wishing I was dead and that I'd never been born That was my sweet 16 Just fucking one more reason to wish death on JR Heather said a relationship with their biological family had been complicated back in 2000 her biological dad Carl Stasi told ABC He had a right to see her but Heather's biological grandma said that if she was safe and happy they didn't want to take her away from her family Heather did as I said develop a relationship with her biological grandma who passed away in 2018 Chose not to have a relationship with Carl Stasi who would abandon her and her mom before they uh her mom met JR And also if you remember Heather's mom staying in a domestic violence shelter sounds like Carl likely beat her mom
Starting point is 02:40:45 Heather after JR was caught was legally adopted by the robinsons decided to keep her name And also, if you remember Heather's mom staying in a domestic violence shelter, sounds like Carl likely beat her mom. Heather, after J.R. was caught, was legally adopted by the Robinsons, decided to keep her name. I love that. Hale Nimrod. During her interview with 2020, when Lisa's family members gave Heather a 42 page letter allegedly sent by Lisa in 2010, Heather is certain that her mom is long dead and that J.R. wrote that fucking letter, still trying to mess with their family from prison. That motherfucker.
Starting point is 02:41:08 Her goal is to find her mother's remains, but John Edward Robinson doesn't even have the decency, after everything he did to her, to at least give her that. He will die as rotten to the core as he has always been. He has been a piece of shit probably since the fucking day he was born. Another just evil to the core serial killer with all the empathy and remorse of a literal piece of shit. Once again, I hope somebody gives him a violent death in prison
Starting point is 02:41:35 and he does not experience the privilege of dying peacefully. Time shock, top five takeaways. Aye, aye, aye. Serial killer John Edward Robinson, Top 5 Takeaways Ay-yi-yi! Stereo killer John Edward Robinson, Jr. the Slave Master, has been sucked. Whew! Thank you to the Bad Magic Productions team, helping making times look, starting with Queen of Bad Magic, Lindsay Cummins. Thanks to Logan Keith, helping to publish this episode, designing merch for the store at badmagicproductions.com.

Also, thanks to the Allseeneyes moderating the cult of the Curious Private Facebook page, the Mod Squad over on Discord, and the people running the Time Sucker subreddit and BadMagic subreddit. And now time for this week's Time Sucker updates. Updates. Get your Time Sucker updates. Updates? Get your time sucker updates! First up from confused sucker Brian Williams who writes in with the subject line of fucking what now? Brian writes in this week's suck 415 kid really sex cults you left one question unanswered how the fuck did Colin manage to breed
Starting point is 02:42:40 Rottweilers and Siamese cats? You briefly touched on it and said this free time Colin bred Rottweilers and Siamese Cats but never explained how. Was it sex magic? Please, please, please update this. This question is gonna eat me alive. Kidding, obviously, not sorry for the length or girth of this email. Your dummy sucking creep and active DadWatch member Brian Williams. PS, if this gets read on the pod, do not give Noah Curry a shout out, but please give one to his brother Aidan. Oh yeah, fuck Noah Curry, Brian. Aidan's awesome though. And I also want to know how in the middle of all that craziness was he breeding Rottweilers
Starting point is 02:43:15 and Siamese cats? Oh, and what was happening to them? How many of those fucking cats and dogs got, you know, pulled into his creepy ass sex magic? That was such a brutal episode. That was the first one in a long time where we got numerous messages of people being like, I had to tap out. I couldn't even finish it. Next up, sweet husband sack, Matt Swartling. Thank you for the pronunciation guy. Writes in with the subject line of hot hard father daddy, father daddy, the sequel.
Starting point is 02:43:44 And then Matt writes canned ummons my wife and I were expecting our second child it's early but I needed to tell someone so I'm gonna tell you in the suckers Lucifina blessed this Cobra to still have potent venom and Nimrod made my aim true with his amazing news we did have a bit of a bummer my wife lost her job a week before we found out do you think you give her a shout out she's been pretty down about it the added stress of finding out she's pregnant did have a bit of a bummer my wife lost her job a week before we found out. Do you think you could give her a shout out? She's been pretty down about it. The added stress of finding out she's pregnant has her a bit on edge. Her name is Elegance. Yes that is her name LOL and she is truly one of
Starting point is 02:44:13 the strongest women I've ever met and already the best mom to our two-year-old daughter. She's our family's rock. I just want her to know that it's gonna be okay. Also I'll try to keep the following circle jerk short. Be you guys the best, deserve all the success. You and Lindsey are truly role models for couples and parents. Oh, that's nice. Give the pups some love from us. Three out of five stars. Email length, etc. Matt Sahuartley. Well, thank you, Matt. That's so nice. Yeah, the Penny and Dee Dee. Penny and Gigi are doing really well.
Starting point is 02:44:41 Oh my god. What have they been up to lately? Ginger, we made a mistake with Ginger. Here's a little quick dog advice Don't offer your your choice or your pet. Excuse me your pet like the illusion of a choice of treats We started doing this thing just because it would crack us up she loves these little greenies little dog breath mints breath mints, I cannot talk all of a sudden and We would hold two out in front of Ginger and let her pick which one and then give the other one to Penny. The same exact thing.
Starting point is 02:45:09 And she would be so serious about it, it just would crack us up. Like she would really sniff one and then, okay, I don't know, then sniff the other. Maybe? Go back to the first one, like really take her time, then make a decision and run off and go hide and have it. Well, after doing that, then she stopped, started to refuse to eat her breakfast. Instead of just like eating her breakfast right away, which she had done for years, like five years consistently since then, ever since we switched to this like farmer's dog food. Then she started to run and she still does this. She'll run up to her bowl,
Starting point is 02:45:37 stare at it and be like, I don't know. And then just look at me. Like she's like, can I see the second option? What's the other option for my breakfast, please? And it's been like two months of that and she won't fucking knock it off. We have to like put her food in the fridge sometimes, act like it's a new thing. We have to cheer her on. It's so annoying. Come on, eat your food, you fucking idiot. Then she'll like with her cheers, she'll do it. It's insane. Uh, and also yes, Elegant's what? Beautiful name. Truly beautiful name. And yeah, you know what? Trust that it's going to be okay. I mean, you're on this path regardless.
Starting point is 02:46:09 Stressing out isn't going to, you know, help with the pregnancy. It's not going to help with the job search. You're going to do everything you can. It's going to be what it's going to be. Sounds like you have an amazing partner. And yeah, it's going to be okay. So lean on Matt. Sounds like he leans on you and you'll get through it.
Starting point is 02:46:25 And now one more from a young sack, Lincoln Ballard, who writes in with the subject line of, Oh my god, I think I broke my boner. Well played. And now Lincoln writes, well, I had a great friend named Lincoln growing up, by the way. I love that name. Well, now that I have your attention, hail Nimrod, hail sweet sweet Lucifina, good boy Bojangles, and glory be to the awesome, the sweet, hopefully not Illuminati Michael motherfucking McDonald's. Oh, and how could I forget hail new Larry and fuck old Larry?
Starting point is 02:46:50 Thank you suck nasty Dan for bringing joy to me every day. My name is Lincoln Ballard I enjoy listening to your podcasts. No joke every day. I'm 17 years old I work a full-time summer job mowing lawns for the greatest company on earth I have headphones in 10 hours a day little else is on other than the great pod we call Time Suck. Oh that's so sweet. I wrote into comment on something I've heard several times. Haven't really heard anybody speak up about in the Time Suck updates. Anyways I was listening to Ruby Frank's short suck today and I believe I heard a little slight to homeschooling. I myself have homeschooled and I have two younger siblings and four older
Starting point is 02:47:22 siblings who are homeschooled by my fantastic mother Who was not to brag the greatest mother anyone could ever have? They are all successful in what they do. In fact, my oldest brother Mikey just graduated from a college in Missouri Fuck me if I'm not remember what college he went to He's got a bachelor's degree in English and is ripping through life The Ruby Frank suck is not the only suck in which I've heard a dick kick to homeschooling. Yeah, it's not the norm Yeah, some homeschoolers are a little socially awkward. But if it's done the right way, it can make a great person and someone who is prepared for higher education. I myself plan on going to college seeking a doctoral degree in marine biology. Oh hell yeah, and I'm on my way soon.
Starting point is 02:47:56 Anyways, I just wanted to say that in case some of your other listeners are homeschoolers and felt a little put down by the homeschooling comments made by you or other updaters, Thank you for your time. I hope this reaches you Dan. PS I know you probably get requests like this all the time but if you could share this on the pod I'd be eternally grateful and I might not invoke the spirit of Billy Shakes to go and make gloves out of your hands and the hands of all the people you love. If you do end up sharing this in the pod can you give a shout out to two of my brothers Landon and Levi who are both, oh I see what your parents did there, who are both loyal
Starting point is 02:48:25 cult members and the ones who introduced me to this fountain of knowledge. They've always talked about writing in but I don't think either of them have and if you read this that would be the first thing I have done before them because as a big family almost nothing's a first for anyone. Love you and the crew and yes I know this email is long but I don't give a fuck and I hope it gets your zapples going. Mother. Fuck you. Fuck your family. JKKoshdang. But for real, if you do share this, fuck all the nudes who don't get any of the references. Oh man, Lincoln.
Starting point is 02:48:52 I mean, you can tell by the way you wrote this. You're a cool young man that you're very intelligent. And you know what? Yeah. Now good call out. I am biased with my homeschool views. And I need to think about this before I share more of them. Based on a lot of the homeschoolers that I grew up around a long time ago now, in small town central Idaho, and those kids were done a disservice
Starting point is 02:49:16 because their parents were not qualified to teach them. They pulled them out of school because they were, you know, like doomsday, crazy, kind of like, you know, negative. Everything in the world is sin, fundamentalist vibes. And I just saw these kids get destroyed. And I, you know, over the years after they, you know, left home, didn't do well in the world. Like at all, at all, at all. Their parents did them a tremendous disservice. But you are right. There are a lot of good like qualified parents, you know around here where I live in Coeur d'Alene Unfortunately, I think a lot of people pull their kids out of school for the wrong reasons and I get upset because it's like well They're gonna have to encounter people from outside your fucking family at some point and they like they shelter them
Starting point is 02:49:56 We have like people in our neighborhoods. It feels like the kids never leave this Compound essentially that is their backyard But there are of course many exceptions there are, of course, many exceptions. There are, of course, wonderful parents out there who are amazing teachers, who do a great job with their kids, and it sounds like your mom is for sure one of those. Thanks for setting me straight, and just keep being a fucking cool dude, and good luck with that, you know, getting that doctorate, marine biology. I hope you do great things, and I think you probably will.
Starting point is 02:50:25 And that's the end for these updates this week. Well, thank you for listening to another Bad Magic Productions podcast. Scared to death and time suck each week.
