Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Time Sun. Hello, what is Time Sun? It's an ongoing experiment in curiosity. The began back in September of 2016, launched by me, host Dan Cummins. I've always loved to learn, and I've always had a wide variety of interests. Typically dark interests, but varied. How do people end up in Doomsday cults? Why do people believe in outlandish conspiracies? Who are histories most depraved serial killers?
Starting point is 00:00:27 And why did they do what they did? I'm also fast-knit by a wide array of historical events and interesting and influential figures. What was Operation Paperclip? Who were the Knights Templars? Why do we still talk about Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, or Alexander the Great? And I love the weirdest, what the shit is going on here, true stories.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Like a US government funded experiment in teaching dolphins to understand a mimic human speech that led to dropping acid, sensory deprivation tanks, and sex with a dolphin. Or the pizza bomber fiasco. Maybe the strangest bank robbery ever. I'm also greatly intrigued by religion. What do Mormons believe? Are the Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? Who are the gods of Norse mythology? These are the kinds of topics I've covered each week on Time Suck for over six years. My team of researchers
Starting point is 00:01:16 and I continue to put together two to three hour weekly deep dives on everything from serial killers like Ed Kemper, Albert Fish, and the scorecard killer Randy Kraft to cult such as Heaven's Gate, Nexium, and the Order of the Solar Temple. I've dissected numerous conspiracies like QAnon, the Illuminati, Pizza Gate, and Celebrity Cloning. We've deep-dived, fascinating historical events like the Tiananmen Square Massacre, the 1980 New Mexico Prison Riot, the Oregon Trail, and dozens of others. We've covered the lives of some of history's most interesting and or infamous figures, such as Wild West Legends, Bass Reaves and Doc Holiday, Dirtbags, Jeffrey Epstein and
Starting point is 00:01:52 Arkelli, Comics, George Carlin and Robin Williams, and the list goes on. We've covered all sorts of stuff, the dark ages, the Armenian genocide, HP Lovecraft, and much more. And I don't just list out dry facts. I also share my opinions reacting to the info like a weird friend learning right along with you. A foul mouthed, opinionated friend. Am I piss you off sometimes? Shock you other times and hopefully make you laugh a lot of the time. And I learned so much from our audience. And for just a
Starting point is 00:02:20 few episodes, I added an update section and started reading several emails each week on everything from personal connections to the subject, to corrections, to shoutouts. Please, jump into the big, strange world of time suck. Get curious with me, laugh at some dark and weird shit. Let's apply critical thinking to the world around us and not just repeat what we hear in insanely propagandized echo chambers. Come meet Nimrod and Lucifina, pet bow jangles, and join the cult of the Curious.
