Starting point is 00:00:00 Charlie said he's been signed off for three weeks because he has the hiccups. What? I thought my boss might be mad for taking three weeks off, but I think he's relieved because I've been hiccuping since September. Oh. Hi, I'm Claire from Townsville, Queensland. Hi, I'm Sabina from Texas. I'm Jane in Snohomish, Washington, USA, and I approve this podcast. Welcome to the Tony and Ryan podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:34 My name is Ryan. This is Dr. Author, Bestselling, Dr. Author, Tony Lodge. He's done it. I'm back from the death. Just. I've got an important announcement for anyone who works at chemist warehouse. That they should be open later. We've said it a million times.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Yeah, but more. Why aren't they 24 hours? They should be. If you live in a country or a city that has 24-hour chemists, you're doing well. Fuck, that must be nice. Living the dream. Let's move. All right, so the whole family was out over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Yeah. Cold and fluy and it got a cough. Bridget's got headaches and she's a bit sniffly as well. Mabel's coffee. and up some stuff. So I go to Chemist Warehouse. I go, yep, I'll get the kids cold and flu. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:15 The adults cold and flu, the heavy stuff. I've got the gargle that you recommended, the Benetine Gargle. Better than Gargle will get you out of a pinch, let me tell you. Yeah. Got a cough syrup. I've got a this or that. I'm like, it's like comical. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:28 And so it's Saturday morning and I get to the thing and the guy scans them. Don't. I fucking, I can't. So what are you up to this weekend? I'm going to a music festival. well, I was going to like... Much on tonight?
Starting point is 00:01:42 Yeah. What do you reckon? What are you? If you had to guess, looking at all this shit, I, have I taken out shares in Vick's vapidrops? And I'm trying to boost the sales numbers. Did you do the shower steamer things again?
Starting point is 00:01:55 I did. They're so good. So, if you need sick advice, come to me. I've got the best recommendation. Like fully sick advice. So I took your recommendation. And when I was at Chemist Warehouse, I saw the Vicks share.
Starting point is 00:02:09 tablets which basically just steamed up in the shower just drop them in the bottom and then they like stay it's like being at a day spark but then Charles you should just do it as a treat actually Charles type in Vicks shower because they've got the Vicks shower tablets and then they've got the Vicks shower tablets max what are they what are they haul on what's that what's the difference it's like triple strength fucking oh I'll be in that yeah yeah max yeah look at it breathing 40% more vapors yeah I bet you they're not 40% more the price a chemist warehouse,
Starting point is 00:02:39 probably half price. Probably half the price. Yeah. Because they're only open half the time. So I wanted to max, right? Yeah, you've got to be maxing.
Starting point is 00:02:47 So I'm in my bathroom. You're vapor maxing. Yeah, I'm vapor maxing. A little compression session in the onsweep. So, a boxing of the bags.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And then, so you open the box and then they come in a little plastic raffer. Yeah. Oh, and not that wrapper. You can't take it open.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You need scissors. I'm fully naked. And where is, Leave me. Give me a second. Where's the onsuit compared to the kitchen? So like opposite ends of the house. So you've got like onsweet walking robe.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Must be nice. Bedroom. That massive long hallway. And the hallway has a big window at the end where you can see your bum from the street. Yeah. We're previously discussed. So I had to walk naked all with the little thing just to get some scissors. And you're just like little willy like bobbing up and down.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Oh, mine doesn't bubble. It's not big enough for bubbling. Um, but so then I had to walk all the way down and I tell you, cutting something with scissors when you're nude is terrifying. It feels strange. You like to don't chop it off, don't chop it off, don't chop it off. Yeah, I'm worried I get my nipple. Yeah. Same.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So then that was. All four of them. Sorry, I told Tony I had four nipples at her wedding and she nearly fucking lost it. She said, I want to see everyone at this party's nipples. And I said, well, I can provide eight of them. One for everyone. And that really, I haven't stopped thinking about it. So then this morning I go to Vix Max.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Oh, you've got to be Maxen. On the daylight today. We're recording. I got to Max. Yeah. So I take all my clothes off with the shower on, get another one. Do you have scissors in your bathroom? No, but we should.
Starting point is 00:04:25 That feels like something that you should have. We should. I always have scissors in the bathroom because I'm always cutting my hair addiction. Maybe I should too. Yeah. I mean, I have hairdressing scissors for that. but there's always craft scissors in there for something or other. Like, you know, like I've opened a packet or...
Starting point is 00:04:42 But I should have scissors in there for like trimming and stuff. Yeah. Oh, do you want to know a weight loss hack on how to lose two kilograms instantly? Show your peeps. I showed Charles that the other day. Do I look lighter? You look great. So I was like, well, I'm...
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah, I've had a haircut. Not my beard on my head, though. Oh, you had a haircut. It doesn't look like... Yeah. No, you can't say it. Yeah. Nah, it's just for me.
Starting point is 00:05:05 You might also be wondering why there's random bits of KFC in the set if you're watching the video on Apple or YouTube. Maybe you're not. Maybe you're just saying that's just how we roll. Maybe you're like, yeah, they're just having some KFC and honestly, Slay FC is what I say. In a strange turn of events. We've had to do an airport run. We've had to do an airport. Wow.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Well, because some friends of ours have flown in. Yeah. We haven't sold out, but Tanalla and Riano have. No selling out required. And it's... Just go to your local KFC. It's just... So, we did a show called Tonella in Rihano when we're in Italy.
Starting point is 00:05:43 And then KFC calls up and says... On the phone. Bring, bring, bring. Hello, chicken phone. And they go... Hello. KFC hotline. And they said, we'd like to sponsor a part of you.
Starting point is 00:05:55 I'm like, great, we love KFC. And we'll, like, the world works in mysterious ways. You try to do all this stuff. And then sometimes I come. company wants to sponsor, Tenala and Rihano. Your bar of soap opera. Who could have guessed that Tanala and Riano would be the most profitable part of this business. So they've had to set up bank accounts and all sorts.
Starting point is 00:06:16 It's actually been quite a heavy lift. Have we registered Tanala and Riano for an ABN? Oh, they've got an IBM, Italian business. They just called BNs over there. But yeah, coming up today, episode one of season two. Seasoned two. I don't contribute a lot to this business, but I did contribute seasoned to.
Starting point is 00:06:38 It's good. And I'm very proud. Now, it was a fine line. Well, it actually wasn't in the end, but between it being hashtag sponsored. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And also the Tanala and Riano we love. Yeah. So I think. No, I think that we're pretty close to mentioning chicken a lot. No, that's what I mean. There's a line and we're nowhere near it.
Starting point is 00:06:59 We're way past it. It actually is really good quality. etc. I got a message here from Charlie Fitz. Hi, Charlie Fitz. Speaking of being sick and we're all a bit. Oh, it's that time of you though, I. It's fucking freezing in Melbourne at the moment.
Starting point is 00:07:15 I don't know how Tonella and Rihanna are going to do in this weather. Charlie Fitz said, what's the most random reason you've ever had to call in sick from work? Well, actually, I'm going to stop you right there. I'm a millennial. I never call in sick from work unless I'm in the hospital. I text in from work. Text in sick. No, that whole thing is that like,
Starting point is 00:07:33 when you're a millennial, you never call in sick because you like have trauma and that you're like, never want to like let the team down. Gotcha. Yeah. I thought it was like you wouldn't use your phone. No, no, no. Sorry, I'm drunk on cough syrup. No, but the times are changing now because the kids are like, well, no, if I'm not going to go to work.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Yeah. And I think that's much better. And I respect that. Yeah. Charlie said he's been signed off for three weeks because he has the hiccups. Like, he's just a really bad case of the hiccups. I thought my boss might be mad for taking three weeks off. but I think he's relieved because I've been hiccuping since September.
Starting point is 00:08:08 What? I reckon the longest have ever had the hiccups. He's like 20 minutes. Even that is a really long time. And he's had them since September. Wouldn't that drive you crazy? Oh my God. Yeah, that's... What?
Starting point is 00:08:23 Someone just needs to scare him. What? Check out the price of petrol. Charles. What causes hiccups? I'm not asking you because you're not. I'm asking you. because you can Google it.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Dr. Charles. Hiccups are caused by the sudden involuntary spasms of the diagram muscle. Diaphram. Diopharm muscle. And I know what all those words mean. So that's fine. I'm always constricting. Should we do an episode where we have a doctor and it's just like a safe space?
Starting point is 00:08:50 Yeah. And we can ask all the questions. Yeah. But people can send it anonymous. I've been too embarrassed to like ask a real doctor this, but I'm just really want to know. Yeah. Well, that would be a real doctor.
Starting point is 00:08:59 But yes. Like you don't want to ask in person. Yeah. Yeah. They will be a real doctor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You just said, I don't want to ask a real doctor. I'm like, no, no, no, but they would be a real doctor.
Starting point is 00:09:10 I don't want to ask a real doctor in person. Yeah, no, no, no, no, I covered for you. Yeah, thank you. I once had to call out of work when I worked at the fish market. Because our driveway flooded and I couldn't get out of the house. And you just feel like the biggest fucking idiot trying to take fun. And I called them and I was like, look, you're not going to actually believe what I'm about to say. But I cannot get out of the house.
Starting point is 00:09:31 So this is the mindset we need to. to go into because these are all legitimate reasons. No, well, they're legitimate reasons, but it's sort of like, imagine happening to call up and explain that. And I just remember my boss was just like, sure. And I was like, no, no, like, I genuinely like I'm stuck. I am stuck here. We're going to catch a cab from up in the hills. No, but I couldn't get out of the thing. So I was like my friend Lisa's house, the driveway had flooded and they lived on like a one way road to their house. So you actually couldn't get out of that. Yeah. But no, water taxis. in Perth or like...
Starting point is 00:10:05 Catch the ferry over? Wouldn't that be nice? Yeah. Do people who work on Rotnest Island catch the ferry every day or do they live there? I don't know. Not many people live on, like it's hard to live there. Like it's very low. But the people that like work at the pub and close up at night, I'm guessing they're not...
Starting point is 00:10:24 There's a dome on Rotnest. That's fucking awesome. Yeah. It's got everything. It really does. Should we? We actually should because Rotteness is dope. Should we move there or just go there?
Starting point is 00:10:37 No, we'll move there. Oh, we can move to Freemantle and Ferry back and forward every day. That would be fun. Rottness is awesome. Salmon Bay. You fuck me up. I love that place. Holly.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Hi, Holly. I slipped the disc in my back buttering toast. Oh. Spent three days in bed could only get up to pee. How had you do it? I was buttering some toast. Oh. And you just got a call in to have slipped a disc and someone goes,
Starting point is 00:11:02 oh, were you running? Or, like, you know, you? immediately like you obviously like athlete in the house out doing stuff. How would you pronounce this one tone? V-I-R-I-D-I-A-N. Oh, Viridian. Ferridian. Yeah, is a Veridian fox?
Starting point is 00:11:23 I don't know the last name, but it is Veridian. Yeah. And I mean how many Viridian all the time. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They've been around forever. Veridian. What a beautiful name when you know how to say it.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Yeah, it sounds a bit like Vivian, which as you know is my favorite name. Well, I saw it and I went, oh. Yeah. My street got shut down because of a. a murder investigation so I couldn't get out of the house into my exam. My tutor was like, she's like, sorry, I can't make the exam a murder. And the school's like, well, like, that's bullshit. And she had to send the news article the next day because, you know, it's in the local
Starting point is 00:11:52 news or whatever. And they go, oh, yeah, fair enough. Yeah. Like across the street. Like, sorry, no one comes in or out. Like there's, you know, we're locking, we're shutting this down. There's been a murder. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:12:05 That's a new character I'm working on. How's it going? It's good. What are you here? Tell me it. It's very good. Yeah, Veridian likes it. We've chatted about it.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Cassandra. Hi, Cass. I called in sick because I was so sunburned. Oh. It was so embarrassing. It got infected and I had like cold soles all over my face. I have had very bad sunburn like that before. And it is so painful.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Like you can't do it. Like you can't. When I played, what did you call it? When I played beach volleyball once, I got third degree burns. like on my chest, like just here. Yeah. Because it's like the dip of the singlet, don't tell child I was wearing a singlet.
Starting point is 00:12:44 But like you, I don't know, you get, you put on your face and, but you forget about this one. But also, even if you did, because you're like playing sport,
Starting point is 00:12:52 you're like sweating. Yeah. Yeah. And I got, and I was like third degree burns and had to like, I was a member sitting like this like, like a little idiot.
Starting point is 00:13:00 That's why like I've got heaps of freckles on my chest because that has happened to me. But at Sound Live, like I was at a music festival. Yeah, oh, music festivals. And yeah,
Starting point is 00:13:07 I just didn't really, like, think about it. Like, idiot. Idiot. Yeah. And now Tony uses sunscreen every day and such a you. I actually do, yeah. Charles has put sunscreen on me before. It was the day that I broke my foot though, so it was bad, Juge.
Starting point is 00:13:23 You've mentioned this a few times recently. Yeah. I just talked about it on the live stream on the weekend. Yeah. Because somebody was commenting on the live stream, I don't want Ryan and put my sunscreen on. Can Charles do it? And I was like, okay, first of all, redact that. That's a little boy.
Starting point is 00:13:37 First of all, and second of all, terrible news for you because Charles putting sunscreen on you is a bad omen. It is a bad omen. Also, did you see what happened to Charles last time he was in Fiji? Yeah, he got very scumbed. He got roasted. Yeah. Pink. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:53 And that's because I wasn't there to put his sunscreen on. Yeah. Maybe we should do a... Sunscreens train. Yeah. Yeah. Love it. I'm in.
Starting point is 00:14:02 I'll go at the front. Ah! Ashley, my colleague called him sick because he ate a chip the wrong way and it scraped his throat. He was in so much pain, he had to take the day off. That is terrible news. Doritos, man. Yeah, I bet you know, I bet it was a mission one because they're quite hard. I'm on a mission at the moment because they're the superior corn chip.
Starting point is 00:14:28 They are. They're the ones that the other day you threw all over my floor. You know, the other day when I offered you a... And then you threw it all over the ground? Well, I said, oh, my liege, would you be interested in a corn chip and you smat all over the ground? It was 1.59. Tony and I are jumping on a Zoom call at 2 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:14:50 And I go, oh, I'll just grab one more chip. And I'm going to put my hand in the bowl. Instead of going in the bowl, I just hit the side of the bowl and smash these corn chips all over the floor. And then it's like, like, two o'clock. Hi, guys. How are you? Oh, hang on, Pippers eating extra spicy Doritos. Pippa's eating Chilean lime
Starting point is 00:15:07 fucking corn chips off the floor I'm there with the Dyson the battery goes flat of course I'm trying to like figure out of the fucking one of the great Zoom calls yeah then about an hour later
Starting point is 00:15:17 like so what's the top big conversation they go guys we got a three clock yeah they're out of you fucking don't worry about it you guys are fucking mess they go oh my God I'm so sorry but I think that my driveway is flooded and I'm also suffering

Starting point is 00:16:49 went to the cinema. Went to the FOMO cinema in Brunswick. That's the official cinema of Tony and Ryan from now on, by the way. The FOMO cinema? Yep. What's the FOMO cinema? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It's the new thing. You haven't heard of it? See ya. Lily went and saw Toy Story there. Did she? Yeah. Is it actually called the FOMO Cinema? Everyone's talking about.

And because we didn't have a Monday episode unfortunately we'll just have to leave that there
Starting point is 00:17:41 I think I've got a theory I think you pretended to be sick so you didn't have to watch Flintstones Fever Rock Vegas and I'm going to tell you a few things mister is that I had to fucking watch your shit fucking movie I had to watch Bio-done have to and also I didn't say it was good I did have to for work well you did have to and I think
Starting point is 00:18:02 I did say it was good so and then for the first time I go What about my movie? And you can't even watch it. I was ready to go yesterday, but... I'm feeling hurt about it, that you couldn't even watch it. I'm just so sick. The perfect time.
Starting point is 00:18:22 The perfect time. Okay, hammer it up. The perfect time to watch a movie. I feel very hurt by it, that's all. Would you like me to watch it? Yes. I honestly, just... Honestly, I was like, oh, that was a Monday thing.
Starting point is 00:18:37 No need to worry about it anymore. so you thought about it and still didn't do it no which is the least worst answer here that's I'm very hurt I'm feeling very hurt and how did you feel watching it back I don't know if I can go on how did you feel watching it back I like it did you watch a Charles I you guys because it was a Monday thing
Starting point is 00:18:59 you guys I I suggested a movie and not want to watch it that's not fair oh yeah yeah Where have you got it? I paid for it on Apple. It was $14 what I looked. That's probably half the fucking production budget for it. It's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Is it? It's pretty good. I can't believe that. No one watched that. That's really upset me. I was busy watching your live stream on the weekend. You both owe it to me, I think. You have to make that up to me.
Starting point is 00:19:29 We'll both come around and make it up to you this are, though. Well, I fucking hope so. I'll give you a bit of a cough. Just letting you guys know that I'm really hurt by that. Okay, do we need the horse photo because we're about to go into Tanalo and Riano season two and I feel like we need to be. Let's horse. It's in the top drawer because I used it the other day. Privately.
Starting point is 00:19:47 I saw you use it in a live stream and you had my little fake, my little hair just made me laugh. Oh, did it? Yeah. That's nice. Nice to hear I can make you laugh still. After all this time. You're the funniest person I know. Yeah, I know and you still choose to hurt me.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Take that back. You need to talk into microphone. Take that back. All right, we're horsing. All right, let's do it. Season two of Tonella and Riano. Here we go. Welcome to Tonella and Riano season two.

Starting point is 00:24:44 Just like your famous secret recipe Mama Lavella They've stolen your secret recipe And that old guy kind of looks like our child, baby Rich Charles. Tony is putting on a wig. Mama LaValle looks defeated. She takes a deep breath before saying,

Starting point is 00:26:47 Rihano proposed, yeah. And then we kissed. On the pussy. It wasn't hard to act that one. Yeah. Act like you love each other. Yeah. Oh.

That shows love across the seas and the ages. This is very exciting. Kate Hollyhock shared this with us on Patreon. I was interviewing virtual assistants to help me with my business,
Starting point is 00:27:17 and I'm working with a company that helps find people all over the world. So you know when you get like a virtual assistant and they just like log on, and do it, like, remotely or whatever? Yep. Kate says there was a woman from the company that's been helping me who lives in Brazil, but she used to live in Australia. Right. Like, she's moved around for work a lot and kind of doing the, like, digital nomad thing, I guess.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Yeah, cool. Kate says, oh, like, you lived in Australia. This podcast I listened to is from Australia. And the girl in the interview was like, oh, my God, Tony and Ryan? Get the fuck out. We start talking about Tony and Ryan and her obsession with. you guys and how she has tried to see you live a bunch of times, but ended up kind of like missing you.
Starting point is 00:28:01 They ended up spending half the time of the interview talking about us instead of like how best to like run this business. Did you get the job? They were going to do. She hired her. Thank God for that. Her name is Sabrina. Sabrina.
Starting point is 00:28:14 So Sabrina and Kate are working together now. And it's going amazing. And so Kate said, although I hired someone amazing, like we're going to need you guys to come and visit in Chicago so that Sabrina can visit and write it off, you know? Gotcha. We can... I'd hate that. Or do we go to Brazil and then they go there?
Starting point is 00:28:35 That's fun. You know what I mean? Have you been to Brazil before? No, I've never been to South America. That's so fun. Yeah. Do you hear that yesterday a flight was going from Sydney to South America and had to turn around midway because of technical difficulties?
Starting point is 00:28:50 No. Yeah. Yeah, so good omen. I don't think that's South America's fault. No. I mean, we don't know. No. Yeah, it's the continent's fault.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Yeah. For being too far away. Yeah. Yeah, they just like, you know what? Let's not bother. Yeah, no, I wouldn't have thought so. That is cool, though. Isn't that so sweet?
Starting point is 00:29:10 Oh, and then, you know, we were chatting about Tony and Ryan. And I was like, well, obviously, if you're not. Yeah, like, you would have thought so. Yeah. I'll need to get someone smart. Isn't that so cool. That is cool. Congratulations on the job, Sabrina.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Yeah. Economia. That's for sharing. Yeah, in Estéconomia. My love to say it is Eva Rowe. Hi, Eva. I finally reached my lifelong goal of becoming a doctor.
Starting point is 00:29:32 I'm getting that PhD. Holy shit. That's awesome, Eva. I defended my dissertation after... Because we know what that means. So did you know, this is terrifying, right? So you submit your, like, thesis, and then all the experts go through it and be like,
Starting point is 00:29:49 what about this? Like, you have to defend it publicly. in person. Yeah. Not like over email where they go, oh, what about this bit? It's like you're in the room. You're in a theatre and all the academics are like trying to poke holes in your research because you need to stand up to the test.
Starting point is 00:30:04 I didn't do that for mine. I've done a tiny, tiny, tiny version of that. Yeah. And it's like the days leading into it, you're just like, it's unbearable. Because you're trying to think of whatever they might question and what your, like, defence is. Wow. And Eva said, heading into my defense, I listened to Tony and Ryan to help relax and not stress.
Starting point is 00:30:27 After a short deliberation, my chair scared the crap out of me by, you know, asking all the questions. Oh, I thought you meant a physical chair. And I was like, oh, did it squeak or something? My chair scared the crap out of me. I'm like, oh, like, you know when you're like... The chair person? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:41 But you know when you think a chair is like all good and then you lean back and it leans all the way back? That is scary. That is scary. Yeah. Sorry. So, yeah, that's exactly what happened. Yeah. Um, but then how's this?
Starting point is 00:30:52 They, they test you out and they go, well, um, there's only one thing left. Doctor. I would burst into tears. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:01 And, and that's what they did. They're like, well, Dr. Eva, I guess you've passed. Good, actual goosebumps.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Yeah. Eva, another doctor to add to our team. We've got so many PhDs. That's amazing. Oh, I'm so proud of you. That is so fucking cool.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Well done. Very well done. Um, tomorrow. Maybe Eva could be the doctor we have on the show for everyone to ask questions to. I don't know if it's a medical doctor. Say. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:31:29 I mean, it could be. Sorry. I know I've told this story 57 times, but my, an economics lecture, I had a PhD in economics and he was doctor or whatever. Yeah. And this person was like sick on the plane. Are there any doctors on the plane? Yeah. And they go through the thing and they go, oh, here, doctor, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:31:48 And he's like, yeah, I could help me with like an algorithm. I wrote about the supply because he was into the car industry He was like I wrote a thesis on the supply side Of Detroit Like You know like Yeah
Starting point is 00:32:02 The densest dullest not medical shit ever And they're like yeah yeah It's no time for semantics Yeah Oh don't be humbled to Yeah But tomorrow Tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow
Starting point is 00:32:14 Oh Part two of Tinella and Riano Is back Thank you very much to KFC But Tony Lodge Yeah Um, you know how that guy forced you to give him a five-star review who was cleaning your couch? Multiple fucking times.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Yeah. Yes. People are like, well, I stand with Tony. Let me share my horrible story and there's something needs to be done. Yes, I'm on board. That's tomorrow. And some of them, hang on. Funny.
Starting point is 00:32:43 That's funny. That's fucked. That's sort of funny, but still fucked. Okay. Do you guys think that you'll watch Flintstones tonight? night we could talk about it tomorrow. So tomorrow we've got Tonella and Rihano episode two
Starting point is 00:32:56 and we've got review stories. Oh, okay. Maybe Thursday. Hang on. Love you. Thursday will have normal or not and the season finale of Tonella and Riano. Next week.
