Starting point is 00:00:00 Bonjour Canada, I had a no hair. We're here to talk about our friends Oxio. Oxio is an internet service provider that launched with the mission of being the first ISP that people actually like. And they've gone above and beyond because I don't like Oxio. I love Oxio. I was going to say. I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Oh my God. I'm ready. And they have fixed prices that actually stay the same. No term contracts and a risk free trial period of 60 days. Imagine if all relationships had that kind of guarantee. Yeah. Just a second date would be fine. Or even food.
Starting point is 00:00:36 I guarantee you'll love what you're about to eat. You know, how good would that be? Should we open a restaurant and do that? Because not many people can guarantee stuff. I like that. Let's do it. Now this is rare here in Australia. So you please respect this.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Fast internet speeds of up to one gig per second. Oh, pure luxury. Our internet is like rolling a rock on the floor. That's a really great example. It actually like, it's like pushing. Well, you know something exciting about Australia is that I can be watching my sports team on cable and then go on Twitter and find out who won. The internet is that slow when I'm trying to watch the game. Let's move to Canada.
Starting point is 00:01:14 I'm moving there. Yeah. Oxio.ca. Visit Oxio.ca for internet from a provider that won't ever raise your prices like ever. And use the promo code at checkout tarp. That's OXIO, O X I O dot C A and use code T A R P at checkout to get your first month free. Au revoir. Mehamya.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Welcome to the Tony and Ryan podcast. My name is Ryan. This is Dr. Arthur Tony Lodge. Hello. We are calling Jenna who's in New York. New York. New York.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Jenna Fruscelli. Fruscelllly maybe. Remember when we were like, we should probably stop adding people's last names. Oh, I do that all the time. Yeah. We were about to get on my house. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:53 No, I'll take that back. I'm just lashing out because I couldn't pronounce that name. If I tried. I don't think I did it right. But yeah, but you sounded like you thought you did. But it might be also like Jennifer Shelley, like Italiano, New York. Hey, right, but. Yeah, but you sounded like you thought you did. But it might be also like, Jennifer Scully, like Italiano, New York. Hey, Jenna, sorry, we're trying to,
Starting point is 00:02:08 how do you say your last name? Fresh Shelley. Fresh Shelley. I was close the first time. Hi, Jenna, love you. What are you doing? Hi, love you guys too. Also, I wanted you to know that was super close
Starting point is 00:02:20 and that's how everybody pronounces it all the time. Yes. There you go. Did I sound like a New Yorker? Yeah, you did. You sounded just like an Italian New Yorker. Oh, that is both amazing what you said and also how you said it, Jenna. That was huge. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Hey, Jenna, will you approve this podcast? Oh my God. Oh, but yes. Can you really quickly say, hey, I'm approving here. Oh my God. Yes. Hey, I'm approving here from New York. Oh, I'm approving here from New York.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Oh, I'm approving here from New York. Oh, I'm approving here from New York. Oh, I'm approving here from New York. Oh, I'm approving here from New York. Oh, I'm approving here. Oh my god, yes. Hey, I'm approving here from New York. That's the best way to have it! That was funny. Cancel the podcast. We are done. It is over. We have beat. Hi, it's Jenna from New York, and I approve this podcast. If you are someone who likes being organized, you're going to hear a story today from me that you're going to fucking hate.
Starting point is 00:03:21 So Tony, happy hump day. Happy hump day. I'd just like to say enjoy the first half of the ep because you're going to, you're going to appreciate that it wasn't you. Be going to hate it. Okay. And I'm not, so I'm, I'm just like setting expectations. I don't want to like fucking jerky chain or whatever the saying is.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Okay. I'm gonna fluff you up to let you down. You're going to fucking hate it. You're going to put a ghost in my attic. Your attic will be full of my ghosts. You know what's a bit strange is that often, yes, I am very organized, but I'm about to talk about something that I think a lot of people are going to hate too. If you're new to the show, welcome.
Starting point is 00:03:56 It's going to be a bit of an overwhelming start to the day for most people. I think. You know how in a, like I've just listened to an episode by Jay Shetty. Yeah. Who you hate. Who I hate. Um, but- Because he's a fraud.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Because he's a fraud. He's annoyingly helpful though. Um, and so every episode starts with, here's how this episode's going to help you. And look at- That's actually quite nice. Yeah. And so here we are. Yeah, no, we're doing the opposite.
Starting point is 00:04:24 If you listen to this, you're going to be fucked off. You are. You might be. 47% of people that listen to today's episode are gonna have a shit day. Well, interesting that you've brought up data because I've done some very scientific field research in support of what I have to talk about. Question. Question.
Starting point is 00:04:41 How long can you sit in a cafe for? Question. Question. How long can you sit in a cafe for? I need to know. And hence the research, hence you bringing it up. I'm saying hence because I'm Ryan John today. I just don't know. You say hence all the time.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Is that on my bingo card? Because you can't start slipping those in. Well, no one knows yet. No one's got Bingo yet. Oh. Yeah. Bingo out on Saturday for part of the Patreon. Watch this space.
Starting point is 00:05:11 All tears. So I... How long were you there, mate? Set the scene for me. Well, actually- I feel like there's no clean cut rule. There's factors. Okay, so I'm gonna start start with some data and social media.
Starting point is 00:05:26 I've never been misinformed. So this must all be correct and accurate at the time of, um, retrieval. NJ Finley said 30 minutes, either side of eating is the rule. So you can get there. You can chat for 30 minutes as you order. And as you wait for your food, you eat. And then when that fork hits the table, set the timer. You got 30 minutes.
Starting point is 00:05:48 The hilarity that we have a stopwatch on the table for some reason. It's probably live stream also in Patreon, if you're interested. But so many people can, this is what I like because I am like this. And I heard someone say this saying about six months ago, and it's brought meaning to my life. Strong opinions loosely held. Everybody has a really hard and fast rule about that. This, this whole thing about how long you can stay at a cafe, none of them are the same. Okay, right. So what's the general consensus? No, the consensus is not general. It is far and varied.
Starting point is 00:06:23 It's maybe taught me something about life. Oh. That like everybody- Do you need to go and speak to Jay Shetty? But like everybody's like, well, that's what it is. But no one's that what, that's what it is, is the same. Uh, Isabelle Jane 13 said, if it's only coffee, maximum 30 minutes. Uh, I've-
Starting point is 00:06:40 Well, who was that again? Jasmine? This is Isabelle Jane 13. Isabelle Jane 13 has obviously never had coffee with me because I can nurse a single cappuccino for hours. You can. Um, but I'm sorry, I'm not quite finished, man. I'll just, when I finished my coffee, I'll leave the table.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Remember when I went to that cafe and that, um, I had half my coffee left and they dumped like all those used napkins into it. Oh yeah. Do you remember that? That was so upset. They started wrapping you up. Oh, they Do you remember that? That was so upset. They started wrapping you up. Oh, they did.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And what did you do about it? And I was just, I just said, thank you. I didn't do anything. I still feel, it was a good coffee too. A lot of people actually kind of said like, depending on how busy it is, if people are like poking their heads around looking for a table, read the room and like,
Starting point is 00:07:21 get out of there. Is, are we kind of angling it? You know how cool people like go and work out of a cafe? A lot of people were like, if you've got your laptop and I was like, Oh, sorry, I'm actually not an asshole. Because there's pop-up. I have a house I've got an offer. Like, and there's like those hot desks in coworking spaces.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Oh, go hire one of them. That's what they're for. Get the fuck out of the cafe. I just, I think though, maybe it's the same of like, if you're buying stuff, is that fine? Yeah, but you're buying a four dollar coffee and a day at a hot desk, I'm guessing is more than four bucks. Like you're taking the piss.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Using their power, using their Wi-Fi, sitting on their table, they're paying for the insurance. I think like... They need to get people fucking through. What do you reckon... Their insurance. What do you think about like, we've gone to a cafe and like had a meeting before. What do you think about that?
Starting point is 00:08:15 Do we eat and drink and stuff? Yeah. Yeah, we're eating and drinking and like, no, we weren't sitting there with laptop. We maybe had one laptop to like write down what we're talking about. Yeah, I think that's fine. Is that fine? Yeah, I don't think the problem is working. The problem is being there for a long time whilst working.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Although I've been to a cafe where I've been there for hours and hours, like Tom would, I hadn't seen him for ages. Yeah. And we like had a coffee and some brekkie then we're like, oh, should we grab a juice? Then we had a juice and we'll talk and shit for another 45 minutes. I was like, oh, another coffee. And I felt like, cause we kept buying stuff that made it okay that we sat
Starting point is 00:08:52 there for a fucking long time. Yep. Yep. So somebody actually said, yeah, someone did say that an hour if it's busy. But if it's slow, two hours, um, and then a small drink or snack per hour. Okay. So if you kind of like settling for something in the morning, and then you kind of go, yeah, and we'll do the coffee. We'll do a juice.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Oh, we're still chatting. Do you want a pot of tea? We'll go halves on a fucking pot of Jasmine. What's the rules if you are booking advance? Oh, well, normally they've got two hour limit, don't they? If you're booking. Oh no, but it's in like, if you go off, I keep buying something, it's fine, says the unofficial rule.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Yep. Hey mate, I'll get a cappuccino at two, at 2.45 I'll get the croissant. Oh, so you do like a degustation of the cappuccino. And at 3.30 I'll get that little pecan pie, cut in half, we'll split that. And then I'll probably get a... What would you recommend to go with the pecan pie? Any ideas? Like you're asking them to be like sommelier.
Starting point is 00:09:46 The watermelon and lime smoothie. The one person I've seen pre-order before is Matthew McConaughey and the Wolf of Wall Street. Cause he goes, I'll get two Flirtini's every seven minutes until one of us passes out. Slightly different energy, but he was planning ahead. Yeah. I do think it's very cool on a movie or whatever
Starting point is 00:10:04 when they go, yeah, I'll get a, like a dirty Martini and keep them coming. Yeah. I do think it's very cool on a movie or whatever when they go, yeah, I'll get a, like a dirty martini and keep them coming. Yeah. I would never, because like, then what are they going to do? Like hover around? Well, he said every seven minutes until one of us passes the fuck out. Yeah. So then there's no hovering.
Starting point is 00:10:17 You know, you start the... Seven minutes. Yep. Timer. So I went to a cafe recently with a friend of mine, Brie. Yep. And we, I think the cafe, it was a Lux Foundry in Brunswick for those playing alone. Oh.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And it was like a, they got like a big kind of outdoor area. At the front. Yeah, that's great. They got like big umbrellas so you like weren't sitting in the sun. So it's very comfortable to sit there. We got there at 10 a.m. and we left at 3.30 as they were packing up. Fucking hell. Busy day. Well, Tash, who replied to my Instagram story where I was scraping data, scraping the metadata from the internet.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Two to three hours, she said, but do not be the only table left while they're packing up. Oh yeah, no, that's fair Tash, that is fair. And what they did, they came over and like took the salt and pepper shakers. And we were like, oh my God, we should probably go. We're so sorry. And they were like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:28 And we were mortified. But I think that not only have we committed the crime of being there while they were packing up. How much did you order? Tony Felicia Brianna Lodge. I ordered one coffee when we got there. She ordered one pot of tea and she ordered a croissant. Um, and that was it. So for five and a half hours.
Starting point is 00:11:58 And I'm, I'm just sending you the picture of my receipt of how much money we, it was on me. I shout, I splurged. I was sending you the picture of my receipt of how much money we... It was on me. I shout, I splurged. I was like, Oh, I'll pick up. How much was that fucking croissant? That's $26. $26.54. What's at an hour?
Starting point is 00:12:18 I don't know, but as you'll see that it got charged at $2.30. I paid and then we sat there for another hour. And sat back down, no. Fuck off. I know. We're taking your cash. We're packing up the salt and pepper things. Fuck off.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Get the fuck out. I hate that. Isn't that awful? I hate every part of this. And it's very- Did you hate yourself in the moment or did you not click until you drove home? I kind of just hadn't really,
Starting point is 00:12:44 cause we were just sitting there chatting. It was like a great morning and it was really warm outside, but because we were covered up, we were like, oh, how good's this? I will say that there is a little bit of defense for us was that it wasn't hectic busy, probably shouldn't say this, but it was a weekday. So the two of you are quite busy. So we were really, we had a lot on, but you know, so it wasn't like a, a Saturday or Sunday where there was like a million people doing branch and whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:11 It was kind of just people filtering in and out and we were just saying, and all this time passed by and I was like, Oh my God, it's two 30. I should, we should probably leave and I paid and then we stayed until they kicked us out. I've never done that before. I think the real, okay, there's fucking, I know, you fucked up so many different ways. I think the biggest crime that's being committed is the fact that you paid and sat back down. They, as soon as your car went, they should have taken the
Starting point is 00:13:37 chairs. Yeah. So this is the danger, isn't it? I'm going to bring you to your car. I'm going to, well, so I hadn't paid for parking and my car was just in like a random spot. No, I didn't. I was really playing fast and loose this day. This is not like me at all. What happened that day?
Starting point is 00:13:54 What happened the night before? Tell me the circumstances that led to this person existing in the world. I actually don't know, but so I'm going to bring up a different faux pas that I believe that is really ruining the experience of a cafe slash restaurant slash pub bar and grill is QR code. If you can't be coming over to take my order, then fuck off. Yeah. So they came over and did the ordering, but you paid your bill at the table with a QR code.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Oh, I'm back on the QR codes. Okay. I don't hate that. But when they came over and took our order, one thing didn't come. And that's why it's $26 for a croissant and two coffees. Well, no, I don't think we got charged because it didn't come for like an hour. And then Brie was like, oh, I did order that other pot of tea. And you ordered that through the QR code.
Starting point is 00:14:40 No, no, no. The person. So I'm like, well, the person's not like a foolproof system. So you're saying you can't trust the humans. You can have to trust the robots. Well, I don't know. It's like rocking a hard place, isn't it? But they were lovely and they didn't kick us out till right at the very end. So that's pretty nice of them. I really- It would be nice if they brought you what you ordered. No. You know when they go, okay, number one hate. That's a strong word. No, I'll stick by it.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Okay. Number one hate in the world. Lux Foundry, you know, is that big table on the inside? No, I didn't go inside. I literally did not go. I did not go inside. All right. So there's the big-
Starting point is 00:15:16 They have like a thing at the front that's like, wait here to be seated. So I stood there and they were like, just get a table, which I hate. I would have, but put your fucking sign away. And like, this is not a pun, but you don't know where you stand. Like you don't know. That is like, so I actually can't get past the pun. No, I know, and it's not like-
Starting point is 00:15:34 Because that is fantastic. No, I actually can't move on. But, you know what I mean? Yeah. Like you actually, you're like, oh, well, what's the, what's the rules? Like I need to know, like- What's something to the point that sign could say instead?
Starting point is 00:15:46 Um, take a seat. We'll come like, sorry, I just fitted you taking a seat back to your car. Or like order at the counter or like, you know, find a seat yourself. What am I? Your fucking mother? Yeah. Like, you know, I just, when they say standing and then I stood there and someone was like, Oh, you can just, and I was like, well, I was following your fucking rule.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Yeah. Obviously don't give a fuck about. You should have tapped the side. Could you imagine it actually says wait to be seated. Yeah. And I haven't been seated yet. Yeah. And by seated, I mean, carry me to my seat.
Starting point is 00:16:21 And I mean, I'm going to sit on your back. So there's this big table on the inside. Must be nice in there. Yeah. You know, the only time I went inside was to go to the toilet. Isn't that bad? Hmm. Oh, it's worse when you go in to use the toilet and you're not even a customer.
Starting point is 00:16:37 No, I was a customer. $26.54. Thank you. So there's a big table inside. I'm there with Liam, Ryan, Phil, all the boys. It's a great cafe. It's a great cafe. So it was a Saturday morning.
Starting point is 00:16:50 They had all done like a hit class or a bootcamp thing together. And I was like, well, I'll fucking skip that, but I'll meet you for breakfast. I'll have the eggs after. So the lady comes around and she goes, what would you like? And I go, oh, there's like 10 of us. Are we all, are we all boys all ready to go? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:04 She doesn't have a fucking notepad. And she goes, no, I've got it. And I go, I am not impressed by your lack of notepad or iPad. I am impressed with my shit coming out the way I ordered it. I just don't show off with your memory skills because I'm not impressed. Not impressed. You know what I'm impressed by? The shit I ordered turning up to my fucking table.
Starting point is 00:17:31 I actually, I agree. I don't like it when they do it anywhere. Especially because then I feel like if I ask for anything on the side or anything, I go, I just have to go, well, that's not going to happen. So then I don't order what I want. The breakfast is always on. There's always odd, scramble or poached or fucking. Yeah. Yeah. And what's over what you don't order anything tricky.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Cause you're like, well, why I might as well fucking. If I don't get that notepad out, I go, I'll just get the eggs on toast. I kiss the hollandaise goodbye. BYO. You pull your own jar out. I got my gnor out. Hi, it's Jenna from New York and you're listening to Tony and Ryan. A massive shout out to a few of our champion tapas over at our Patreon. You can check it out at any time. All of the info is in our show notes, in our link tree, wherever you find us, you can find
Starting point is 00:18:37 it all. Uh, Kaylin Mulcahy. Thank you so much, Kaylin. A-E-H-Elephant? A-E-H-Elephant? I'm not, I'mE-H, Elephant. I'm not, I'm not really sure. Elephant's a fun name. Elefante, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:18:49 Yeah. That's a singer band. I don't know. But, um, the elephant from the Perth Zoo just got transferred to the Adelaide Zoo, which is big. Yeah. That's news. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Tracy Clark, good on you Tracy. They're doing the trip across Nullarbor. That's a big trip. Yeah. It's hot as well. It's hot out there. I hope it makes trip across Nullarbor. That's a big trip. Yeah. It's hot as well. It's hot out there. I hope it makes it. Plenty of water.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Do you say hope it makes it? Or just take plenty of water. Do you reckon that, um, in the, in the trailer? Would it be in a trailer or PJ? Well, it wouldn't be driving a high on day gas. Yeah. So it's probably in a trailer. Do you reckon they've got like in the trailer, those like Arizona misters like that they
Starting point is 00:19:26 have in some pubs? I hope so. Just to like keep it moist. I saw something that had like 60 peanut butter sandwiches like in there and they were taking constant stops so they could like. You should have mentioned he was flying first class. 60 peanut butter sandwiches. Oh, that's a bit of me.
Starting point is 00:19:43 So I fucking love a fucking peanut butter sandwiches. Oh, that's a bit of me. So I fucking love a fucking peanut butter sandwich. Every hour and a half to two hours on that drive is like a town and the town is just, it's a pub with a motel and like a general store service station. And that's, that's it. And the pub also has like a few powered sites for a caravan park and like. Yeah. And that's the whole town is just that one place. Yeah. Could you imagine being there having a schooner and a fucking elephant rolls in?
Starting point is 00:20:13 Do you know what? They were probably the eight people that live there were all like excited. Guys, there's an elephant coming through town. It was probably like, you know, a bit of a spike in the town. Yuroa. Yuroa. Hardly not. Karo- Karo- Karora.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Beautiful words. Beautiful town. Yeah. On all of the towns on the Nullarbor, like, another 15 minutes time difference. Like, there's a few- Oh, no, I actually didn't take that on when I did the drive, but one of the towns was like, I'll wear an hour 45 behind Perth. As you drive into the town, there's a big sign and it's like, just letting you know,
Starting point is 00:20:49 like the time zones just changed. I think there's one that's in the middle of S-A-N-W-A. They kind of split the difference and it's 45. Sure. And better fucks you right up. But yeah, there's like a big sign to be like, just letting you know, like the time's changed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:02 But we were at one of the pubs having a, having lunch or something. And then, and we decided, I drove over with Liam and we decided we're not taking the time on. I mean, it doesn't really make much of a difference unless you're doing it for like the radio. So like a friend of mine, they were doing radio. So we have to be on air at that time. Yeah. So the time difference is actually like, stay in Perth time until you get to Melbourne.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, so we're like, let's just fucking not take that on. Yeah. So we're having a lunch and a beer and then this guy comes in and goes, so with the 45 and we both just went, no, did you just say like, no deal? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:43 We're not taking that on. Finish your Palmer and your policy the fuck out of this town. And we both just went, no. Did you just say like, no deal? Yeah. We're not taking that on. Finish your Palmer and your policy, the fuck out of this town. Let's blow this pop stand. Quite literally. Yeah. Tracy Clark, good on you Tracy.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Exciting news about that elephant though. I think it's a really big deal. Yep. Fernando E, good on you Fernando. Taylor Jade Pullen, is she? And Harrison Clark, good on you Harrison. Good on you Harrison. Big has.
Starting point is 00:22:03 This Saturday, 1, 1500 tarpers. That's Tony and Ryan podcast errors that listen to this podcast. We're all going to the cricket. We're all going to be dressed like Tony Lodge. The Melbourne cricket ground this Saturday. It's going to be sick. Keep an eye out on, I hate saying the socials, but like, it's going to look funny. I reckon also that if you need any information, you Google it. Not till Friday though.
Starting point is 00:22:26 So if you're coming, you've got to wait till Friday to get any information that you want. What actually will come up if you write Tony Ryan MCG? We'll find out on Friday. Tony Ryan Cricket. It'll come up with all your crafting stuff. I actually have just bought a bunch more crafting stuff cause I want to start junk journaling. Have you seen that online?
Starting point is 00:22:50 So it's like, um, junk. Yeah. And you put it in a journal. Just, it says what it does on the. Yes. Yeah. But it's kind of like, oh, collect like receipts or like labels or like, you know, kind of, or if you, you know, when you go on a holiday, you don't know, it
Starting point is 00:23:10 doesn't really happen so much now, but when you go on a holiday and you get like- Oh, and you put your plane ticket style. Your plane ticket. And you know, if you went to a concert, you could put all your stuff in there. So you're junk journaling. Yeah. Well, I'm about to start. I've just bought a few little things.
Starting point is 00:23:21 I bought like a little, um, bought a little printer and stuff so you can print from your phone. Cause I've got that, you know, I've got that flash back camera. Sorry, we actually don't talk about printers on this show. Cause they're all fucking nightmare. Our fucking printer here didn't work today and it was an absolute fucking nightmare. Anyway, yeah, very exciting stuff. No, everything's good.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Everything's great. Everything's great. So what are you telling me that's going to fuck me up? So I mentioned the other day that I've been staying sporadically at an Airbnb in the city because I've been doing university trying to pump out this MBA, get it done. When are you due on track to finish now? Not two years, three years. No, I reckon by August.
Starting point is 00:24:03 I'll be done. This year? Yeah. That's in like five minutes. It's January, not July. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:24:11 No. Oh my God. I just lost six months. I've just found time I never thought I would get back. What should we do? Oh my God. Let's start. That's actually so exciting. Let's start junk journaling.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Yes. For six months. I was just telling someone about that. Yeah. Who was it? Some hot piece of ass. Yeah. Someone I'm sleeping with, so I don't want to bring it up.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Okay. Um, do you, is there a big ceremony? I will be there. I'll make a sign. I've got six months to do it. Oh God. Maybe you could stick my degree in the journal. Stick your what?
Starting point is 00:24:51 Your degrees actually are hanging up here at the office. They are. Isn't that beautiful? We're so proud of you. Thanks for doing that. Definitely not embarrassing. Here at Tud Tower. I leave for 10 minutes and Charles and Tony have put my degrees on the wall behind my desk. So it looks like I'm a fucking idiot. And Tony said, it looks like you're a businessman.
Starting point is 00:25:11 You look like a businessman. And said the personality. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, but you can come to the ceremony. Yeah. It's at the Melbourne town hall. Will you be wearing a mortar board?
Starting point is 00:25:22 If that's what you call the dressing gown. Yes. The gown, but that mortar boards, the hat and you put your tassel over. I will be in a dressingboard? If that's what you call a dressing gown, yes. The gown, but the mortarboard's the hat and you put your tassel over. I will be in a dressing gown and a fucked hat, yes. That is so fun. Can I decorate the top of your hat like they do at the graduation ceremonies in America?
Starting point is 00:25:36 I'm still not confirmed as attending, but you can do that to the stuff. I might be busy. No, you won't be busy. No, I'm pretty busy. We'll be gone. I run a very successful media enterprise. Enterprise. That keeps me very't be busy. No, I'm pretty busy. We'll be gone. I run a very successful media enterprise. Enterprise? That keeps me very, very busy.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Did you learn that word at Melbourne Business School? Yeah, MBA. Yeah, they said if you want- At MBA? Yeah, they said- They teach you that at MBA. If you want to sound smart, use the word enterprise instead of bragging how you spent five hours in a cafe, if you want to seem busy.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Hey, people probably thought that I was the most successful person in the world. They're like, wow, they're really getting things done. So I've been staying as I'm trying to smash this out and get it done at an Airbnb because there's a few subjects that go late and start early and I don't live that close to town. So we're in the syndicate room, our little group. Did you all buy a lotto ticket? That's like a group syndicate because you do a group assignment. Yeah, like a lotto ticket when you're all going on the same
Starting point is 00:26:30 lotto ticket. Yep. So that's the only time I've ever heard the word syndicate before. Oh, you never hear the end of fucking the word syndicate at NBA. So we're in the syndicate room, we've got a big project due the next day, we're all, you know, in the laptop, smashing it out, doing the research, chatting, sharing ideas, and we kind of go, fuck, it's, it's 10 30. PM. Yeah. We should like, let's go get some sleep and we'll come back and start again. We've got a lecture at nine AM tomorrow morning.
Starting point is 00:26:56 And then after the lecture, we'll come straight back in and we'll smash it out. Into the syndicate room. Yeah. So I get back to the Airbnb and. So it's like 11 PM. Yeah. So I get back to the Airbnb and. So it's like 11 PM. Yeah. Ahmed texts me and he's, it's a photo and he goes, is this your phone charger? And I go, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:16 And he goes, you left it in the syndicate room. Um, but we're back tomorrow. So I've, I'll just leave it in there so you can pick it up in the morning or whatever. Sure. Um, and then I went, I'll just leave it in there so you can pick it up in the morning or whatever. Um, and then I went, okay. And I looked at my phone and I had about 4% battery. I then say my laptop and it's got about 3% battery and I'd text him back and I go, it wasn't a laptop charger as well. And he goes, Oh yeah, there was,
Starting point is 00:27:43 I didn't know if it was yours. The reason they knew it was my phone charger is because someone I work with labeled it lucky you. Yeah. Someone loves you. Yeah. And I am like, Oh, he's a label maker. Blah blah.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Turns out came in handy. So thank you, best friend. You're welcome. Thank you, best friend. So I went, OK, my laptop is about to die. My phone's about to die. Both my charges are in the syndicate room at university. Didn't you have a spare at it?
Starting point is 00:28:08 Are they Airbnb? So here's where I have a charger and I'll put it in my bag and take it with me. But you don't take it with you. Why do I took it to the syndicate room? You didn't take it home. No, I didn't. See, if I knew that I was working and studying, I would take two. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:26 That's why we're different. You labeled it though, so thank you for that. Yeah. Yeah. So you're just throwing money away, leaving charges about the town. No, I'm going to go get it back tomorrow. No, it's like donating them. Well, you've donated a few mouses to the QT in Sydney.
Starting point is 00:28:39 That is true. Yeah. Donated some hair follicles as well when I wore that hat lamp. Oh, the hat with the light in it. And then it turns out when you wear the hat lamp and the lamp gets turned on, your hair gets on fire. It's dark. Don't add in some hair follicles as well. When I wore that, oh, the light in it. And then it turns out when you wear the hat lamp and the lamp gets turned on, your hair gets on fire. It's stung.
Starting point is 00:28:49 It was so disgusting. Sorry to everyone at QT Sydney. Then they brought us all these beers, but we didn't go home to really late. And it was full of ice and all the ice melted on the carpet outside of our room. Our room? No. Like where our... Like, because we were in the same like hallway. They said, here's the keys for 404 and here's the keys for 406. And I went, who's staying in the other one?
Starting point is 00:29:14 Yeah. You go, no, my wife's not here. Yeah. So you can stay next door. The kid. Um, so... Dad's got worked. I'm not worked, I'm fine. So my phone runs out of battery. Obviously. How are you going to set your alarm?
Starting point is 00:29:31 How are you going to keep working? How are you going to put Netflix on to go to sleep? How are you going to scroll Instagram while you're doing a poo? How, like all these things, because there's no fun, but all those things that I just said, how are you going to send an alarm? I can handle it Netflix. The only real issue was the alarm. And so I have a lecture at 9 a.m.
Starting point is 00:29:51 and I'm just going to go to bed. I'm just going to wake up. And then when I wake up, I'm just going to like go to school and off. I see what time it is. I think I've just had a seizure. What? What, there was like no alternative though. Like it's just like, well. You couldn't go back to uni and get the cable?
Starting point is 00:30:21 Oh no, once I got home. Was there like a convenience store where you could go and just get like a- Not in the Airbnb. No, like just downstairs. Because that would have been convenient. Do you know what I mean? Like there was there like a 7-Eleven just there, you could go and get a phone charger. So I just went to bed and I was like, well, there's sort of three options really.
Starting point is 00:30:44 One is I'm going to wake up and get to school way too early. Another option is I'm going to wake up at 1030 and get there real late. Or maybe the third one, I'm just going to wake up rolling in and fucking bingo. Do you know what I really love about you is that third option is not even an option in my mind. What do you mean? Like when I think, oh, well, the what could go wrong tomorrow is that I get there way too early or way too late, in no way would my brain ever go. And I might just get there right on time. That's like not even an option to me.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Yeah. But if you get there late, like, sorry, funny story, if you get there early, I'll scrub a coffee and wait and like, yeah, but I wouldn't even consider being on time. I'd just be like, well, I'm either going to be wrong or wrong. Yeah. So I quite liked the outlook that you had. Yep. Um,
Starting point is 00:31:33 and you know, this is making me so anxious. You know how it gets really light really early at the moment. Yeah. Um, so cause I was like, Oh, well the sun will come up and f**k and blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, yeah, but that could be 5am or 10. Cause I was staying near the hospital. I got these like thick blinds because through the night and there's like often
Starting point is 00:31:52 a bit of a helicopter or something and whatever. Well, I'm literally right across the street from the hospital. Yeah. So there's a bit noisy. So what I'm getting at is I'm like emergencies and stuff. Yeah. I was also surprised how regularly a helicopter was. So what I'm getting at is I'm like emergencies and stuff. Yeah. Okay. I was also surprised how regularly a helicopter was crazy.
Starting point is 00:32:09 I would obviously I would think about like the ambulances and whatever, but I wouldn't think about a helicopter because of the ambulances and the helicopters. Um, I've got a thick line city as well. Yeah. It's just heaps of shit going on. I've got like a blackout blind because I'm like, I don't want some helicopter coming past the balcony
Starting point is 00:32:26 and I'm sleeping blah, blah, blah. Jerking off. You know, I'm busy jerking off. They've suffered enough. Did you also just sleep like shit? Because you know, when you have to wake up early, like sometimes for a flight or whatever and you're like, oh, it's one o'clock.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Oh no, it's 1.30. Well, there's that, but I couldn't check the time. And I think I just went, it is what it is. And, and I was also been studying all day till night. I was fucked. I was like, I'm just going to go to sleep. Um, so I woke up in the morning. I had a shower, cooked breakfast.
Starting point is 00:32:57 You had a shower and cooked breakfast. Yeah. Not knowing what time it was. Well, what am I going to do? Go straight to uni in case you were late? Unshowered and hungry. In case you were late though. Unshowered.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Disgusting. No. Had a shower, had breakfast, put my stuff in my bag, went to the car, drove across the street. Oh, hang on. The car. The car had the time in it. You could have charged your phone in the car. Yeah, but then I have to drive the car.
Starting point is 00:33:27 I was late at night. If you left your phone plugged in with that charge. No, no, no. Okay. Sorry. So I get in the car, turn on the engine. Six 15. Better than 10 15.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Yeah. So I drive over, so I was up, you know, shower, eat. And you're like, well, I need to go in there and drive. Yeah. Turns out the girl at reception didn't start till a bit later, but just got comfy, had a coffee. You know, it's a city, people going for a run in the morning, birds chirping. Yeah. Up and at'em.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Up and at'em. Yeah. Up and at'em. I remember turning the car on I'm going, huh. And to be fair, I, it was only at that moment that I did realize there was a clock on in my car. In the car. Cause I went, Oh, oh,
Starting point is 00:34:13 yeah. Though you know what? That time's probably wrong because if you adjusted that for Dalai Tames, that was probably not that time at all. Great question. That's a great thought. Great thought. Um, I got to love to see it here from Megan Jean. That is so stressful. I'm so sorry. That is fucked.
Starting point is 00:34:32 This is great though. And it's the opposite of stress. She got a coloring book for Christmas. And you know how coloring books really had a renaissance maybe 10 years ago. And they are great. I do coloring with Mabel and now Mabel will like go off and do something else and I'll still be coloring. And Bridget's like, oh, the point of like doing something with your daughter is like you do it with her. Oh, but you're enjoying it. And then she'll come back and see how well you did and she'll be so proud. I always brag, I go look how good dad did. Yeah. And you're like writing at the bottom, you're like, I don't want anyone else to take credit of this.
Starting point is 00:34:56 But Megan Jean said, I got an adult colouring book. Like, oh, I have seen these actually, like the sweary ones. I just sent you a picture. Yeah, I've seen. Do you want to explain what that is? Um, well, it's a beautiful, very well colored, very beautiful stuff. Megan Jean has colored in the word Karlaconte.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Yep. And beautifully. Beautifully colored. Absolutely. When you see Karlaconte in bright colors, it really takes the edge off, doesn't it? It does. It doesn't feel aggressive anymore. It feels fun. And doesn't it sound like you would say it like Karl Cala Conti. Ah. Like it's not an aggressive. No. It's not a hard
Starting point is 00:35:50 **** is it? And it's not a **** can't, which we can leave in. No, but yeah, that's the rules I guess. That is really beautiful. Good job, Megan Jane. I think just having a hobby. Yes. And I'll have to see you doing the. Chunk journ Jane. I think just having a hobby. Love to see that. And I love to see you doing the- Chunk journaling. I've got another love to see it. Another love to see it. Tony and I were chatting on Zoom
Starting point is 00:36:14 and the background in your home office. Thank you. I noticed, I know there's some effort being put in. Thank you very much. There's some art up on the wall, a bit of a rearrange of the spare room. Yeah. Looking good.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Yeah, my office now is like, I actually really enjoy working in there. Which is so nice, cause it's like good to have just have a little spot. Yeah, no, it looks good. Yeah, thank you very much. I've got a love to see it here. And I'm actually, I've written like a bit of a script
Starting point is 00:36:41 and I'm going to stay on script because it's, it's. Is it an announcement? No, no, no, no, no announcement, but it's just, um, it's just really beautiful. And I really want to share it, but I want to, I want to do it right. Okay. Um, we got a beautiful email the other day. Um, from our new friend, Dana, Dana, uh, Dana emailed us to tell us that, uh, she's wanted to share this for a long time, but just like couldn't find the words.
Starting point is 00:37:08 I've gone back and forth with her on this. So this is how she would like to share it. Okay. A couple of years ago, Dana lost her, Dana lost her best friend and housemate really unexpectedly, really, really young, total surprise. And a month after that, Dana was listening to the Tony and Ryan podcast and heard a familiar voice.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Oh, shit. And her beautiful best friend and housemate was the one approving the podcast. Oh my God. And so, and Dana said like, oh, I remembered one day that she was like, got home from work and was sitting in the car and said like, I'm sorry, I was just on the phone to someone and whatever and came back in and just like didn't even put two and two together.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Yeah, gotcha. And Dana said, I couldn't believe how lucky and surreal it was to hear her laugh and voice again and shared it with her friends, family and like they're kind of... So they can hear it and the voice and yeah, far out. It's really nice. Us chatting to her and Dana's best friend kind of, yeah, and I just, I read the email and I was sobbing and I just couldn't believe it. So I just, I don't really know, like,
Starting point is 00:38:24 I don't think there's like a message. It's just more that, I just love to see that. And I just really, I just couldn't believe that. Isn't that so cool? That's huge. I'm really nervous to ask this question. What was in the episode? You know? I'm not going to say what episode it was. They asked to not share what episode it was. I'm picturing her friends and family go, oh, we can hear her beautiful voice once again. Yeah, that's a very good point. And then it's like coming up today, what did you find in your sister's asshole?
Starting point is 00:38:52 And you know, and it's- Which we've done so many times. You know what I mean? It's like, guys, if you want to listen to, you know, our friend and family member's voice one more time, listen to it and then stop. But yes, stop at 20 seconds in. And then when she's done, we're done. Yeah. And that's just it.
Starting point is 00:39:08 And you can listen to the beginning part, but maybe just that. But thank you so much for sharing that with us. It's like really crazy to think that we're in people's lives in that way. And I lost a really good friend to me a few years ago, and I can't even imagine how that would have felt. So just sending lots of love to everybody, but especially to Dana and her friends' family. And also thanks Megan for the book that also a nice one today. So the book's important. Yeah, I was about to say expensive. I don't know if it was. That's
Starting point is 00:39:42 you know, I have no idea. It's a cheap. I don't know if it was. That's what I do. You know, I've no idea. It's a cheap. It's a cheap. And shout out to the family, obviously. All right. We'll love to see that.
Starting point is 00:39:51 We're back. We're back tomorrow. We're normal or not? Normal or not. Yay. Love you, bye.
