This is Emily, Henley, and Sammy.
And you're listening to TV Scary Didn't Watch.
Hi, everyone.
Welcome to TV Scary Didn't Watch.
She nailed it.
The TV show, Alien Earth,
just recap-ish kind of discussion show for those who watched or didn't watch,
whatever you want, I'm Emily, and I watched it and I loved it.
Yay.
I'm Henley and I also watched it and I loved it.
I'm Sammy and I watched it and I loved it.
You better believe it.
And wow, just three people who love this show.
talking about it three people who love this I love to love things I love to talk about what I love
I love to talk about anything with you and if Timothy Oliphant is in it
even better for me I'm so thrilled I was like yesterday I was like oh my god it's here
oh my god alien earth is on I know it happened we got here wow it felt it felt so far away
when we first discovered that the show was happening I know I made the decision that we would
watch it I wasn't sure what to think I was a little nervous
I was like, how's this going to go for me?
Yeah.
Am I going to like this?
Is it going to be too scary?
And the reality is, it was not too scary, even though there's some upsetting kid stuff in it.
Sure.
Yeah, let's, I want to talk more about that.
There's some kid stuff.
I forgot about the, I immediately forgot about the kid stuff.
I mean, I didn't because it's actually like quite impressive on an acting level.
But, yeah, there is some kid stuff.
There's some kids stuff.
There's a lot going on.
It is, honestly, like, I turned to Joe at one point.
And I was like, I feel like this is the level of gnarly that Sammy wanted Romulus to me.
Like, it is more, it was immediately, like, more graphic, I thought, than Romulus.
It happens, like, quicker.
And, like, but the, the level of gore was, like, immediately really intense.
So I will say, I don't think it's too scary, but if gore bothers you, like, people, I'm so brave.
There's a lot of limbs that are not where they're supposed to be.
be anymore and I could do it getting cut in half and answering our question of can you keep living
if you got cut in half and seems like for a little bit yeah you can um honestly I had never seen
any trailers for the show I don't think I had either was that it was an alien show and Timothy Oliphon
was in it and it was maybe Noah Holly and that's all I needed to know and I will say after watching
the first two episodes which came out last night immediately I was like this is not what I thought
I was going to like I don't know I don't know what I thought but I was like I mean it says alien earth
in the fucking title but I still was like I was so surprised by what it was doing and this
show is created by no no holly who created legion and uh fargo good at adapting no holly he's
good at adapting yeah i've really loved both of those shows and even when i didn't love them
i always was like i really respect the like swings that he takes like he's a really cool
creator he's a really cool creator and i love that he's a really cool creator for television
yeah not that obviously we have lots of prestige television these days but like
i'm not not doing what he's doing he's making like movies again i know now that i say this i
let him like others is doing that but you just know he's just like doing something specific and
interesting and i really like it he's doing it for a really long time yeah legion was great
legion was so legions when i fell in love with dan stevens oh
Ooh. I always thought it was
Downton Abbey. I watched Downbby
after I watched The Agent and I stopped watching
Downton Abbey at a certain point in time
that people who can put two and two together
might understand why.
Because that's all I care about.
Having not seen it, even I might be able to put it.
You might understand why I might have stopped watching
Target and Abby.
This show is so good.
This show is so good.
Just for, you know, full disclosure,
I fucked up.
We were supposed to watch
the first two episodes.
I only watched the first episode.
So I have only seen the first one.
But I was like,
this is my new favorite show.
It's scary.
It's really scary.
Interesting.
I was going to say,
I don't think it's that scary.
I just think it's really gnarly.
But I think it will get scarier.
But the first episode I was actually like,
the things are scary to me,
which is like slow, like, tracking shots.
like dark corners where's it going to be like it like jump scary it wasn't doing that in fact
i the alien was being really funny and cheeky i thought and we'll get into it i really appreciate
a bunch of alien was like i'm right here hello i've been here all this time i really really enjoyed that
um but it is fucking gnarly and the monsters are like normally i'm like don't create new monsters
the ones we have are scary enough oh buddy boy noah really went for it and they are
nasty yeah i'm pumped and i like i love that they didn't dump all eight episodes at once
and that they're giving it to us week by week like like the good old days just like we like it
make us wait my god make me wait for something i want to mirror i
I want to marinate in these ideas.
I want to marinate in these visuals.
Let me, let me give time.
Let's give it time.
We're going to give it time.
We're going to marinate.
And if you want to marinate with us, our episodes will be available on our Patreon at the Tony
fucking Colette in her circle tier.
And they're not going to be like full recaps.
We're just going to discuss.
So we'd love it if you'd watch along with us.
if you can bear it, give it a try.
These two watched it and have different opinions of how scary it is.
But just give it a try.
Give it a try.
Give it a try.
And I'm just going to quickly say, which I feel like we've mentioned before,
but just as a reminder that if you get it on your phone,
you have to pick, like if you get the app on your phone,
there's that surcharge that Apple charges you.
So just make sure that you have it through your computer.
Oh, hot tip.
Hot tip.
Yeah.
So you go to, yeah, go to Patreon.com on your computer.
and make sure you're signed up through that
and not through the app on your phone
because Apple is a greedy little fucking bastard.
Hey, speaking of greedy fucking corporations
Yeah, exactly.
Team of problem.

Hello, I'm Joe Marcus Sarer.
And I'm Russell Daniels.
And we're the co-hosts of The Downside.
Now on Headgum, we are a safe place to complain, be negative, Kvetch.
We don't like toxic positivity.
No.
Because it's toxic.
We're not going to sit there going, hey, look on the bright side.
Enough on the bright side.
That's all anyone's talking about these days, the fucking bright side.
So tune in to some of your favorite comedians, some celebrities.
Like Caleb Huron, Brennan, Lee Mulligan, Alana Glazer, Busy Phillips, and Dan Soder.
We let them come on, and we let them share what shitty about their life.
We look at the things that seem nice on the surface, and we go, why is it shitty underneath?
It's a fun time, but it's a place you're going to listen and go, oh, thank God, I'm not any of those three people on that show right now.
Yeah.
I feel better about my life.
So please subscribe to us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pocketcast, or watch us on YouTube.
New episodes every Tuesday.
This is The Downside.
Hey, I'm Gareth Reynolds, and I have a new podcast on HeadGum called Next We Have.
Now, this show is for people with short attention spans, which is everyone.
I mean, you're probably trying to skip this ad right now, but don't, because you now legally have to listen to the show.
That's how law works.
Next we have is very simple. Each episode has three short segments.
For instance, Lisa Gilroy and I write insane revenge, Yelp reviews for callers who had bad experiences with a business.
The Do Boys play a game called Meal or No Meal.
and Steph Tolliv and I go head to head on a thought-provoking game called Guess That Sound.
The show is as dumb as it sounds, and we probably have more fun than we should.
But it's a great time, and you should listen or watch new episodes of Next We Have every Thursday on YouTube or your favorite podcast app.
