I always love that. But if you want to be anonymous, you don't have to identify yourself off the top. Just record yourself and email me the file, and I'll take it from there.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Without further ado, let's kick out the jams. To walk out Because we're young Because we're young We'll take the times Electric, my love Yeah, oh young So young So gone
Starting point is 00:03:36 We lost the chase, the plunder Oh But because we're young Because we're young We'll scare the skies We'll tie those eyes up Yeah, oh yeah So young So young, so young, so gone
Starting point is 00:04:11 Let's chase the thunder home Let's chase a proper heart Hi Mike and fellow FOTMs. This is Michael Lang, back with my second song choice. In the early 90s, the Britpop movement was in full swing. The battle between Oasis and Blur was the focus, and Blur was far better, by the way. But other bands were just as good,
Starting point is 00:04:53 like the Stone Roses and Charlatans and Spiral Carpets, Catherine Wheel, adorable, and this band, Suede, known here at the time as the London Suede, was the best of them all. This song is called So Young, and it's about drugs. From our home Home From our home
Starting point is 00:05:34 Home From our home Home From our home Come on home, home Come on home, home guitar solo Hey, where did we go? Days when the rains came Down in the hollow Playing a new game
Starting point is 00:06:43 Laughing and running hey hey skipping and jumping in the misty morning fog with our hearts thumping and you my brown eyed girl
Starting point is 00:07:00 you my brown eyed girl and whatever happened to Tuesday and so slow going down the old mine with a transistor radio
Starting point is 00:07:21 standing in the sunlight laughing Hiding high at a rainbow's wall Slipping and sliding All along the waterfall with you A brown-eyed girl And you, my brown-eyed girl Do you remember when
Starting point is 00:07:48 We used to sing Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la- FOTM. Hope everyone out there is staying safe and healthy. For my jam this week, I'd like to request Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl. See, it's special to me because it's the first karaoke song I sang for my then girlfriend, Sheila, who I can happily say became my wife and together have enjoyed amazing five years of marriage. Fun fact, she also shares the same June birthday as Toronto Mike. Peace and love, my friends. Love you, my bright-eyed girl. And you, my bright-eyed girl, do you remember when we used to sing? Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Thank you. Anyone Anyone Anyone Anyone You can blame me
Starting point is 00:09:37 Try to shame me And still I'll care for you You can run around, even put me down Still I'll be there for you For you The world May think I'm foolish They can't see you Like I can Oh, but anyone
Starting point is 00:10:22 Who knows what love is will understand. Hey, Mike and friends of Toronto Mike, this is Johnny O. For Kick Out the Jams, I would like to include this. This is Irma Thomas with Anyone Who Knows What Love Is Will Understand. You know what I love? Black Mirror, the TV show. You know what I don't love is finding myself living in an episode of Black Mirror like we all are right now. all are right now but this beautiful sweet earnest song I find is wholly appropriate and helps remind me that we will get past all this I know to ever let you go is more than I could ever stand. Oh, but anyone who knows what love is will understand.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Understand Oh They'll understand If they try love They'll understand Oh Try and understand Won't you understand? Hey girl, is he everything you wanted in a man? You know I gave you the world You had me in the palm of your hand
Starting point is 00:12:41 So why your love went away? I just can't seem to understand. Thought it was me and you, baby. Me and you until the end. But I guess I was wrong. Don't want to think about it. Don't want to talk about it. I'm just so sick about it.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Can't believe it's ending this way. Just so confused about it. Feeling the blues about it. I just can't sick about it. Can't believe it's ending this way. Just so confused about it. Feeling the blues about it. I just can't do without you. Tell me, is this fair? Is this the way it's really going down? Is this how we say goodbye? Should have known better when you came around.
Starting point is 00:13:19 That you were going to make me cry. It's breaking my heart to watch you run around Cause I know that you're living a lie But that's okay baby Cause in time you will find What goes around, goes around, goes around Comes all the way back around What goes around, goes around, goes around
Starting point is 00:13:42 Comes all the way back around What goes around, goes around, goes around Now, girl, I remember everything that you claimed. You said that you were moving on now. Maybe I should do the same. The funny thing about that is I was ready to give you my name. Thought it was me and you, baby. And now it's all just a shame that I guess I was wrong. Don't want to think about it. Don't want to talk guess I was wrong Don't wanna think about it Don't wanna talk about it
Starting point is 00:14:28 I'm just so sick about it Can't believe it's ending this way Just so confused about it Feeling the blues about it I just can't do it that way Can you tell me is this fair? Is this the way it's really going down? Is this how we say goodbye?
Starting point is 00:14:45 Should've known better when you came out? Should I know better when you were gonna make me cry? And now it's breaking my heart to watch you run around Cause I know that you're living a lie But that's okay baby cause in time you will find It goes around, goes around, goes around Going all the way back around You will find What goes around, goes around, goes around, goes all the way back around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:27 What goes around, goes around, goes around, goes around, goes around. Hi, Uncle Mike. It's Nate. My favorite song is What Goes Around Comes Around because it has a really good beat and it changes the beat towards the end. And hope you enjoy. Thank you. Just something goes about it, feeling the blues about it I just can't do it without you Tell me, is this fair? Is this the way it's really going down?
Starting point is 00:16:10 Is this what we say goodbye? Should've known better when we came around Should've known better what you were gonna make me for It's breaking my heart too much Now it's breaking my heart That you're living in love The best I'll give, baby, comes out It's breaking my heart too much Now it's breaking my heart Cause I'm not letting you live in a lie The best I'll give, baby, cause in time you will find What goes around, goes around, goes around
Starting point is 00:16:33 From the way back around What goes around, goes around, goes around From the way back around What goes around, goes around, goes around From the way back around Bye. We'll be right back. Yo. Yo. Let me paint this picture for you, baby. Yo. You spend your nights alone, and he never comes home.
Starting point is 00:17:37 And every time you call him, all you get's a busy tone. I heard you found out that he's doing to you, but you did to me. Ain't that the way it goes when you cheat a girl, my heart beat a girl. So we go without saying that you let me feel and hurt. Just a classic case scenario. Tell his oldest time, girl, you got what you deserved. And now you want somebody to kill the lonely nights. You wish you had somebody that could come and make it right
Starting point is 00:18:06 But girl, I ain't somebody with a lot of sympathy But those around come back around I thought I told ya But those around come back around I thought I told ya But those around come back around I thought I told ya, yeah Put those around, come back around I thought I told ya, yeah Put those around, come back around
Starting point is 00:18:32 I thought I told ya, yeah If I take you to a baby Take you to a baby See? You should've listened to me, baby. Because. Because It's all around, come back around Strange and beautiful are the stars tonight That dance around your head In your eyes I see that perfect world I hope that doesn't sound too weird
Starting point is 00:19:56 And I want all the world to know That your love's all I need All that I need And if we're lost And we are lost together Deadway out of harm We are lost together Hi Mike, Kevin in Alberta here again. I'd like to dedicate this song to my lovely wife Tara,
Starting point is 00:20:49 who now more than ever I am glad got me to move back to Canada from the United States. This was supposed to be our 10 year anniversary, well it is our 10 year anniversary this year. It was a couple weeks ago, we were supposed to have a night out, spend a night in a hotel, have a nice dinner, but life got in the way, as they say, so I'd like to shout this one out to her. I love you, always and forever. This is Lost Together, Blue Rodeo. yn We are lost We are lost together In the silence of this whispered night I listen only to your breath
Starting point is 00:22:25 And in that second of it The shooting starts Somehow it all makes sense And I want all the world to know That your love's all I need All that I need And if we are lost And we are lost together
Starting point is 00:23:05 Yeah, yeah We are lost together Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, we are lost together Together, together I'm going to go. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. I want to run I want to hide I want to tear down the walls
Starting point is 00:25:43 And hold me in silence I wanna reach out And touch the flame Where the streets have no name I wanna feel Sunlight on my face I see the dust cloud disappear Without a trace
Starting point is 00:26:16 I want to take shelter In the poison rain Where the streets have no name Oh, where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name We're still building and burning down love Burning down love And when I go there
Starting point is 00:26:51 I go there with you It's all I can do Hey Mike, this is Kathleen of Maryland. My jam is Where the Streets Have No Name by U2. U2 are my favorite band. I've seen them 11 times, and to me, this song is just pure, unadulterated joy. Thanks. Take care. We're still building and burning down love Burning down love And when I go there
Starting point is 00:27:52 I go there with you All I can do Are long turns to rush We're beaten and blown by the wind Blown by the wind Oh, yes, you know Say our love turns to rust Our beatings
Starting point is 00:28:21 Blown by the wind Blown by the wind I will be here. Glow and burn away. Glow and burn away. Oh, and I go there. I go there with you. It's all I can do. Thank you. Thank you. guitar solo Walking home all burned and broken With the front door my heart opens Once inside words are spoken Asking how to mend the broken
Starting point is 00:31:18 Oh, you restless fugitive Oh, you restless fugitive Oh, you restless fugitive Tell us how they brought you down Why'd you let them hang around Tell us when you left the earth And promise next time you'll call first Oh, you restless fugitive Oh, you restless fugitive.
Starting point is 00:32:10 Oh, you restless fugitive. How I felt the shackles rounding when I left this world behind me. I thought that heaven there would find me But heaven's in the town that born me Hey Mike, I heard this song driving home one night on the CBC. I wouldn't say it's my favorite song of all time, but it's the favorite song I heard on the CBC driving home late at night that I've never heard before. And I'd also say it was song title three after this time. Restless future I feel the need to ask forgiveness I didn't act on things I witnessed Helpless as I watched them drown
Starting point is 00:33:23 Helpless as I watch them drown Now I've turned the boat around Oh, you restless fugitive Oh, you restless fugitive Oh, restless fugitive Oh, restless fugitive I'm going to tell you. Thank you. guitar solo When you're full of yourself And you've got the world in your hands Life goes on When you want something bad
Starting point is 00:35:47 While you're making plans Life goes on And what you thought was more ended up less And even though you thought you could not miss Only know the one sure thing is this It's Rick here again. And as promised, I am picking an Ian Thomas song this time. I've always liked my CanCon, and I was inspired by the
Starting point is 00:36:25 as the days go by request from last time I've always been a Ian Thomas fan and a Boomers fan and Lunch at Islands back in high school people were listening to Duran Duran or Prince or The Smiths I was
Starting point is 00:36:40 following Ian Thomas so that might explain how my life was in high school. I'll leave it at that. But hopefully you like this one and some good lyrics in this one as well. Thanks. Life goes on. Where you stood, where you fell. Life goes on.
Starting point is 00:36:59 In spite of yourself. Life goes on. Somehow all is well Life goes on Over the years There's so much I could confess I have seen more Oh, I've seen much less. Life goes on.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I can't recall exactly what we had. Remember, mostly good things, not the bad. And there is still some sweetness in the sad. Life goes on Where you stood, where you fell Life goes on Inspired yourself Life goes on
Starting point is 00:38:16 Somehow all is well Life goes on On We'll be right back. Take me through the centuries To supersonic years Electrifying enemies, drowning in his tears All I have to give you is a love that never dies The symptom of the universe is written in your eyes Yeah Yeah In your eyes, yeah
Starting point is 00:39:47 Yeah Mother Mooch is calling me back to her silver womb Father of creation, takes me from my stolen tomb Seven-pack and unicorn is waiting in the skies A symptom of the universe and love that never dies Yeah Yeah Hello, Mike and fellow FLTMs. It's Midtown Gord here.
Starting point is 00:40:46 I just wanted to send another jam. I was thinking of taking a bit of a break because I've sent in quite a few. But the other day I heard the Ballad of Richard Iommi on one of the KOTJs, and I thought, wow, that's interesting. That almost sounds like me. Not that obsessed, but I'm a big Black Sabbath fan.
Starting point is 00:41:02 They were the band that turned me on to heavy metal way back in the day, and I've been a metalhead ever since. So here it is, Black Sabbath, Symptom of the Universe, from the greatest band ever. Child of love, come step inside my tears Swim the magic ocean I've been crying all these years With our love we'll ride away Into eternal skies
Starting point is 00:41:34 A symptom of the universe A love that never dies Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah guitar solo Oh, my God. In your eyes I see no sadness You are all that love in me Take my hand and we'll go riding With the sunshine from above We'll find happiness together In the summer skies of love Thank you. And during the few moments that we have left,
Starting point is 00:45:04 And during the few moments that we have left, we want to talk right down to us in a language that everybody here can easily understand. We'll be right back. I know your dreams. A'r cwt o bersonaeth Ni oedd lais, mewn eglwys Pan ydy'n ymddangos, mae'r ysbrydoliad yn sôn Hey Mike, it's Joel. I was a teenager in 1988 when I first heard this jam and I immediately fell in love with it from the opening riff. The extraordinary thing about it in my mind was that as a black kid growing up listening to hard rock and heavy metal this song stood out because the band playing it looked like me and there weren't a whole lot of
Starting point is 00:47:07 black rock bands around on the scene at that time so the song I want you to play if you can is Cult of Personality by Living Color and with the political climate today this song rings out even more true than it did then. So enjoy the song, and thanks, Mike. Me, I'm wise. Love, I'm wise. When a leader speaks, that leader dies. You will have to follow me. Only you can save the world. guitar solo You gave me power You gave me fame You gave me power In your God's name
Starting point is 00:49:05 I'm every person you need to be I am the coach of perfect beauty I'm the doctor, I'm the doctor I'm the doctor, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, I'm the go-to, personality It's not what your country can do for you And that brings us to the end of our 635th show. You can follow me on Twitter. I'm at Toronto Mike. Our friends at Great Lakes Brewery are at Great Lakes Beer.
