Well, it's all right Riding around in the breeze Well, it's all right If you live the life you please Well, it's all right Doing the best you can Well, it's all right doing the best you can well it's all right as long as you lend a
Starting point is 00:02:52 hand you can sit around and wait for the phone to ring waiting for someone to tell you everything Waiting for someone to tell you everything Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring Maybe a diamond ring Well, it's all right Even if they say you're wrong Well, it's all right Sometimes you gotta be strong. Hi, Mike.
Starting point is 00:03:27 It's Kurt Ardren from Melitta, Manitoba, a public address announcer for the verdant oil capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, proving that FOTMs exist beyond the GTA across this great country of ours. I'd like to kick out the jams with End of the Line, a tune from the Travelling Wilburys off their Travelling Wilburys Volume 1 from 1989, I believe.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Featuring Dylan, Harrison, Jeff Lynn, Roy Orbison, and my all-time favourite, the late, great Tom Petty. It's my definition of when five good friends get together to make great music. I really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Thanks for all you do, Mike. See ya. Well, it's all right Everything will work out fine
Starting point is 00:04:15 Well, it's all right We're going to the end of the line Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive The end of the line Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive Till the end of the line I'm just glad to be here, happy to feel that Till the end of the line And it don't matter if you're by my side Till the end of the line
Starting point is 00:04:40 When I'm satisfied Well, it's alright Even if you're old and grey Well it's alright You still got something to say Well it's alright Remember to live and live, live Well it's alright
Starting point is 00:05:02 Best you can do is forgive Well it's all right Best you can do is forgive Well, it's all right Riding around in the breeze Well, it's all right If you live to love you, please Well, it's all right Even if the sun don't shine Well, it's alright
Starting point is 00:05:25 We're going to the end of the line Things come out at night Things come out at night Things come out at night Things come out at night Discos don't open till after dark And it ain't till twelve till the party really starts And I always had to be home by ten Right before the fun was about to begin Proud of people I'd have been sighting out Just for one reason, to rock the house
Starting point is 00:06:24 But in the daytime the streets were clear You couldn't find a good freak anywhere cause The freaks come out at night The Freaks Come Out At Night The Freaks Come Out The Freaks Come Out At Night Now when freaks get dressed to go out at night They like to wear leather jackets, chains and spikes They wear rips and zippers all in their shirts Real tight pants and fresh mini skirts All kinds of colors running through their hair
Starting point is 00:06:59 And you can just about spot a freak anywhere But then again you can know someone all their life And might not know their freak unless you see him at night. Cause the freaks come out at night. The freaks come out at night. The freaks come out at night. The freaks come out. The freaks come out at night.
Starting point is 00:07:16 The freaks come out at night. The freaks come out at night. The freaks come out at night. The freaks come out. The freaks come out at night. Now the party's jumping. The place is patting. Outro Music lovers. They do it in the park, they do it in the dark, but most freaks are known for breaking hearts. You can never tell what a freak is thinking of, and you may never catch a freak without at least one glove. They don't walk, when they step, they strut, and nine times out of ten, they drive you nuts. So take my advice, you don't stand a chance. Freaks are so bad, they got their own dance. So if you want to live a nice, quiet life, do yourself
Starting point is 00:08:02 a favor, don't come out at night, cause freaks come out at night. Freaks come out at night. Hey Toronto Mike, it's Neil from White Rock once again with another suggestion for your request hour or show as it were. I heard you and Ben Rayner talking a little bit about your love for Public Enemy. about your love for Public Enemy. And I thought we'd go back a little further than even Public Enemy for a band called Houdini and The Freaks Come Out at Night. The Freaks Come Out. Enjoy. Outro Music You're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a man and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman and you're a woman The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out
Starting point is 00:09:27 The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night The freaks come out at night
Starting point is 00:09:43 The freaks come out at night The freaks come out The freaks come out at night Outro Music The Freaks Come Out At Night There's a world container With your name on it And a billion ways to go berserk When the country quits on you It must be dinner And the hammer on this one Is there's no dessert He's the one who couldn't imagine
Starting point is 00:11:00 All the people living life in peace. Good news, you get to vanish. Go to Cleveland, be an indie smash. The good news is now you're smaller. The bad news is you can be smaller than that Go sex and souls, be a reader, get used Laugh at a funeral or two Laugh and laugh till all the chameleons turn black
Starting point is 00:11:39 Laugh and laugh till you're told please don't come back Then fake incredulous say I just can't believe. How'd it get this late so early? Say ain't life a grand and I'm an all y'all. Then drop it into your haunted bunk. Hey Mike and my fellow FOTMs, it's Becky. This is my third jam and I was going to try and record it outside to capture some bird song to give it the backyard studio feel, but I don't trust my recording capabilities that much. This is one of my absolute favorite songs by the Tragically Hip. It's World Container.
Starting point is 00:12:26 And I listened to this album nonstop while traveling in Europe. I thought it was fitting since Gord was singing There's a World Container with your name on it. There are so many great lyrics in this song. And my absolute favorite is How'd It Get This Late So Early. And I think it perfectly captures the best nights that I've had in my life where time seems to fly by and the night goes by in an instant. And I think it also makes me think about Gord's passing
Starting point is 00:13:00 since it got late much too early for him. So, enjoy. in progress We're all songs of one song and that song is Don't Forget We're all songs of one song and that song is Don't Forget We're all songs of one song and that song is
Starting point is 00:13:43 Don't Forget All songs are one song and that song is done for, yeah Now it seems you can't ask for more than what you're sure you're really ready to offer So what's your offer? Although it seems you think you know you don't You thought you did it and now you're not sure No one's ever really sure And so it seems It's up to you to make your dreams come true
Starting point is 00:14:31 And be home in time for dinner So what's for dinner? And then you'll see There's no time to eat So get off your seat and go make me a winner Everyone's a winner. Everyone's a winner. Hello, Toronto Mike.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Cambrio here, the Stewstone mega fan. My request is for the Melligrove Band. Everyone's a winner. This is a nice little song, some pop rock for you. A little bit of a piano ballad from famed Mississauga Boys. They aren't doing much now, but this song remains, and I think it's a great one. So thanks so much, and see you on next time's Pandemic Fridays. Oh, come on! I'm tired of flipping from my head I'm wasting time, I'm making something from my head I'm wasting time, I'm making plans So please, don't believe in me
Starting point is 00:16:32 I fall in love with all I see I'll stay there when I believe Oh, I, I believe in you And when you want it more than anything Then fate will bring you all that once seemed lost And when you see it more in every dream Then God will sing, Sing a faith song. guitar solo All alone at the end of the evening
Starting point is 00:17:48 Where the bright lights have faded to blue I was thinking about a woman I loved I never knew. And it's so hard to change Can't seem to settle down But dreams I've seen lately Keep on turning out And burning out And turning up the same So put me on a highway
Starting point is 00:18:50 Show me a sign And take it to the limit One more time When I bought my first new car in 1994, I made a mixtape for it. I can recall that it had Bryan Adams, Barenaked Ladies, Don Henley, and a song from the Eagles that had followed me around for a few years by that point. Excitement was also growing for the Hell Freezes Over Tour coming to the C&E that summer, which I still regret not spending that insane price of $125 for a ticket.
Starting point is 00:19:26 But I was made aware of this jam by Mr. Graham in grade 13, referring to it as the Calculus song. Anyone who knows Calculus knows you take it to the limit. The song and its meaning has obviously changed over the last 26 years, away from the chalk-whipping math teacher, but I do think about him every single time. When there's nothing to believe in Still you're coming back You're running back You're coming back for more Put me on a highway Show me a sign
Starting point is 00:20:24 And take it to the limit one more time. Take it to the limit. Take it to the limit. Take it to the limit one more time Take it to the limit Take it to the limit Come on and take it to the limit one more time Take it to the limit No more time No more time Take it to the moon
Starting point is 00:21:25 Take it to the moon One more time Take it to the moon Take it to the moon Come on, take it to the moon One more time Take it to the next level Take it to the next level Take it to the next level
Starting point is 00:21:56 Take it to the next level Make it Sun's shining, the weather is sweet Yeah, boy, it makes you wanna move Those dancing feet But I risk it, oh, here I am Those dancing feet All I rescue Ah, here I am I want you to know, y'all Here I stand
Starting point is 00:22:32 As the morning gathers the rainbow I want you to know, y'all That I'm a rainbow with you But I'm a hero like Robert De Niro And no one adds a rest to me I gotta keep my heart Protection until time The sun is shining, yeah War
Starting point is 00:23:01 War is explosive You got to demonstrate Demonstrate,'ve got to demonstrate Demonstrate, you've got to demonstrate Don't fight Cause the sun is shining For you, there's nothing else to do The sun is shining The weather is sweet
Starting point is 00:23:22 It makes you wanna to move those fancy feet. To the rescue. Ah, here I am. I want you to know, y'all, here I stand. As the morning gathers the rainbow, I want you to know now That I'm a rainbow with you great reggae tune that never fails to put a smile on my face. Finlay Quay hasn't really put anything out in the last little while. I think he's run into some hard times, but he's put out some great music, and this song is one of his best. Enjoy. In my pocket But I just can't get your love Some say Yeah
Starting point is 00:24:25 And the sun is shining Don't fight You got soul And you're chopping it up Arrow For you There's nothing else to do The sun is shining
Starting point is 00:24:39 The weather is sweet Yeah Boy Makes you wanna move Those lines in free To the rescue I miss you, dear. It makes you want to move those dancing feet. To the rescue. And here I am. I want you to know now.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Here I stand. Ask them all you got, Mr. Rainbow. I want you to know now that I'm a rainbow with you. Ask them all you got for the rainbow. I'm one for that love, cause I'm a rainbow with you. Top of that door, shining like a lion, yes. This is some fashion, yes. Spiritual fashion, yes.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Whoa, whoa, yeah. Whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah. Whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah. Thank you. Gather in the nucleus sky We will dance in the poison rain And we can stay a while in heaven to time It's time to get out It's time, these days are mine It's starting together Two hearts under the sky It's like I'm holding my arms tonight
Starting point is 00:26:42 You and me together Under electric light Evil doubts and the poison death Just you and me forever By the loads away that Stand together Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars

Starting point is 00:27:27 You know, we don't hear about it in the media, but this period has been very difficult for many, especially couples and families, including mine. I don't think we're even at the halfway point of the coronavirus pandemic, but I do know that my wife and I have made it this far along by working as a team. It's only getting better. So my jam to kick out today is Swades Stay Together. Thanks so much for your amazing work.
Starting point is 00:27:50 I'll do my arms on us Just you and me together In the gear on the horse Take the file in the nuclear night And we can feel a little closer As we tumble through the sky Star to the sky Star to the sky
Starting point is 00:28:21 Star to the sky Star together Star together Two hearts under the skyscraper Star together Star together Star together Stars will come together Stars together Two hearts under the sky Stars together Stars together
Starting point is 00:28:59 Stars together When I first left on the scene Niggas was petrified Turned back to the lab Like they were bitches by all my sight My rap flow does you right to Cal And it will never steer you wrong And all you bitch-ass niggas in the industry Your careers won't be lasting long
Starting point is 00:29:38 When I first stepped on the scene Niggas was petrified Went back to the line Like they were being just my homicide My rap's no pleasure, right to tell, and it will never see you wrong And all you big chesters in the industry, your careers won't be lasting long now Check it, I'm the fucking man who'd have met you Notice that other niggas rap thousands Focus, duty, compared to this bunch of cow poodles
Starting point is 00:30:08 Blazin' the stuff that ain't nice to be a lace in the side Just cause I be that house of a fire The papaya and the brown that be deepest up inside And that venture, niggas need to test they freakin' temperature For the sickness that be spreadin' with the quickness Remedies, cousin, I be doin' all my enemies Penalty, then I drink for these good day memories Emotion, crossin' through your town street vicinity Hey, Toronto Mike and fellow FOTMs, this is Andy. I chose this song for two reasons.
Starting point is 00:30:40 The first is because I thought the FOTM KOTJ series could use a bit more hip-hop but the second is because when I was 16 and in high school my friends and I would often hang out in the school parking lot at lunch just chilling listening to music and one day I brought this CD with me and after lunch the cutest guy in our group, his name was Mike, asked me if I would lend it to him for a bit, which I was happy to do. Then about a week later, Mike called me and said he was going to be in my neighborhood and asked me if I wanted him to stop by and drop off my CD. And I said, sure. When he got there, he asked me if I wanted to go for a drive, which yes, of course I did. So we ended up hanging out that
Starting point is 00:31:26 entire afternoon and having such a great time together that we started dating. And fast forward to today, almost 25 years later, and we're still together. So this CD has always had a special place in my heart because of that. The whole album is great, but this song in particular, Release Yourself by Method Man is probably my favorite song on the album anyway thanks for giving me a chance to share my story thanks for listening and I hope everyone is staying safe healthy and happy Just breathe it, just breathe it And keep it moving, baby we be moving I'm gonna keep it moving, you know we keep it moving And keep it moving, baby we be moving
Starting point is 00:32:10 And keep it moving, you know we keep it moving And keep it moving, you know we keep it moving Baby we be moving, you know we keep it movin' When I first stepped on the scene Niggas was petrified Flat back to the lab Like they were being chased by homicide. My rap song does you right to gal, and it will never stay wrong.
Starting point is 00:32:32 And all you've been testing is any industry, your careers won't be lasting long now. Throw your hands in the sky, And wave them from side to side And if you're ready to spark up the black and cow Let me hear you say stimuli When I first stepped on the scene Niggas was petrified Fled back to the line Like they were being just fine
Starting point is 00:32:59 Hold them tight My rap don't touch you right to cow And it will never steer you wrong And all you've been chasing is any industry Your career's gonna be lasting long now If I had to live my life without you near me The days would all be empty The nights would seem so long With you I see forever
Starting point is 00:33:48 Oh so clearly I might have been in love before But I never felt this strong Our dreams are young and we both know They'll take us where we want to go hold me now touch me now i don't want to live without you nothing's gonna change my love for you you are the love i know how much i love you one thing you can be true love I've never asked for more than your love Nothing's gonna change my love for you
Starting point is 00:34:31 You are the love I know But I love you, the one that changed my whole life You're good, nothing's gonna change my love for you Hi Mike, it's Mike Rogotsky. For my jam, I picked a song from the 80s. And I remember when I heard this song, I would think, wow, these vocals are very up front, and it's very synthesizer heavy,
Starting point is 00:34:58 and it has a really good 80s sound that made it a mainstay on easy listening radio stations or adult contemporary radio stations and it even shows up on your easy listening playlist if you'd like to get into that today. It was a song that I liked so much and that my wife liked so much as well that we had it as the last dance song at our wedding and that was kind of fun because it brought the couples out on the dance floor one last time for this great song. So for my jam I've picked
Starting point is 00:35:30 Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You by Glenn Medeiros. Thanks, Mike. I love you One thing you can't meet your love I'll never ask for more than your love Nothing's gonna change my love for you You ought to know by now how much I love you. You want me to take all I do, but nothing's gonna change my love for you. Nothing's gonna change my love for you.
Starting point is 00:35:58 You wanna know by now how much I love you. One thing you can't be sure should know that I'm in your eyes for more than your love Nothing's gonna change my love for you You wanna know my by now how much I love you One thing you can be sure of I'll never ask for more than your love Nothing's gonna change my love for you You oughta know by now how much I love you You want me to change my whole life through
Starting point is 00:36:45 But nothing's gonna change my love for you Nothing's gonna change my love for you You want it all right now My much I love you One thing you can be sure of I'll never ask for more than your love Nothing's gonna change my love for you Thank you. I've been caught stealing Once when I was five
Starting point is 00:37:35 I ain't just a alien I just sit on the stack Well, it's just a simple fact When I want something And I don't want to pay for it Now I walk right through the door I walk right through the door Hey, all right, fucking bye It's mine, mine, all mine Hey Mike, it's FOTM Linda.
Starting point is 00:38:16 This song reminds me of a time when my friends and I used to go to this bar downtown called My Apartment. And whenever this song came on, we would go crazy on the dance floor. Then for some reason, they stopped playing it. So I asked the DJ, and he said it was because people used to slam dance to the song and get hurt. So I couldn't believe it. And every week, I would request this song.
Starting point is 00:38:38 And every week, they would say no. So when my roommates and I decided to have a house party, we played the song a few times during the night. And every time it came on, we danced. And I'm happy to say that no one got hurt. So here is Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction. guitar solo I'm out. Uh-huh. We don't want to pay for it. We walk right through the door. Walk right through the door. Hey, all right. Fuck it, bye.
Starting point is 00:40:20 It's a It's a And that brings us to the end of our 701st show. You can follow me on Twitter. I'm at Toronto Mike. Because everything is kind of rosy and green Yeah, the wind is cold but the snow wants me today And your smile is fine and it's just like mine And it won't go away
Starting point is 00:42:06 Cause everything is rosy and green Well you've been under my skin for more than eight years It's been eight years of laughter and eight years of tears And I don't know what the future can hold or do And eight years of laughter and eight years of tears. And I don't know what the future can hold or do for me and you. But I'm a much better man for having known you. Oh, you know that's true because everything is coming up rosy and gray.
