Hi, I'm Morgan and I'm turning 10 years old today.
Happy birthday, Morgan.
How you doing today?
Good.
Can we just capture what it's like to be Morgan at 10 years old?
Today is your 10th birthday.
You've been on this planet for a decade.
Like, what's it like to be Morgan?
Can you share with us what you're interested in, what your day-to-day is like?
What are your passions?
I'm into songs.
What kind of songs?
Like pop songs and stuff like that.
Do you want to tell us some of your favorite artists?
I like Taylor Swift.
She's my favorite singer.
Is it true that you're participating in some musical theater?
Yeah.
Do you want to tell us like what play are you performing and what role will you be playing?
Okay.
I'm playing high school musical and my role is Troy.
So Troy is the character played by Zach Ephron in the movie, right?
Yeah.
So you're playing Troy, which I remember to be a co-lead.
What's the girl's name?
Gabriella.
So you got Gabriella and Troy.
These are the leads in high school musical.
And you had to audition, right?
And you got the role of Troy.
Yeah.
Now, Troy's a boy.
Does that matter in theater?
No.
So are you going to just act like, you know,
A 10-year-old girl?
Or are you going to try to talk deeper?
I'm going to act like myself.
Okay, and you have a lot of lines and you have a lot of songs to rehearse.
So you're doing musical theater.
You're going to be Troy in high school musical.
Yeah.
Are you a member of any clubs that might be a surprise to people?
Yeah, I'm doing chess club.
So how often do you participate in chess club?
Every Thursday.
Okay.
Now, how are you at chess?
I'm good.
You told me something on our bike ride home today that was better than good.
Oh, yeah.
I'm tied third in chess club.
So you're tied in third as we speak right now.
Yeah.
Okay, congratulations.
You're playing chess, you're listening to music, you're participating in musical theater.
What else makes Morgan Morgan?
Just give me a taste.
Like, do you like the bike?
Yeah.
Do we bike every day?
Um, kind of.
Okay, you don't have to take it so literally, but we do bike to and from school almost every day, right?
Yeah.
Okay, and you enjoy that?
Yeah.
And you're probably the only nine-year-old.
Now you're 10, but you were probably the only nine-year-old in the entire city that was biking to school during some of those snowstorms, right?
Yeah.
I mean, it was really cold, and you were biking to school, and I bet you nobody else in the city was doing that at the
that age?
I guess so.
So you feel special about that?
Yeah.
Okay.
Now, on our way out here,
happy birthday again,
is there anything
you want to say
to your future self?
What I mean is,
if I were to play this audio
for 25-year-old Morgan,
is there anything you want to say
to 25-year-old Morgan?
Hi.
Hello.
Hi.
Any questions?
Do you want to just ask, like, how did we do?
Like, anything you just would be curious to ask 25-year-old Morgan.
How did we do?
How do you think you're going to do?
How do you think...
Well, that's me asking you.
How do you think you're going to do?
I think I want to do good.
Superman does good.
You're going to do well.
I want to be like Superman.
Okay, well, maybe a super girl.
I don't know.
Yeah.
So life in a nutshell, is it going well?
Like, do you love your parents?
Do you love your two brothers?
Do you love your sister?
Do you love your family?
Yeah.
Give me a little vibe on how things are going.
Would you make any changes in your life?
No.
So you're happy with your home?
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's nothing you would change.
Yeah.
You wouldn't consider upgrading your father, maybe getting a new model or something?
Yeah.
Wait, yes or no.
Would you change your dad for a different dad?
No, no, no, no.
You like your dad?
Yeah.
How much do you like your dad?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, a lot.
100%.
So you're a big fan of your dad.
Yeah.
You think you got the perfect dad?
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
You wouldn't change a thing.
Yep.
Your daddy is doing a good job?
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm glad we recorded this.
I think I'll play this back to my future self.
But thanks for, you know, you've never done an episode of Toronto Mike.
How come your brother, Jarvis, as opposed to big brother James,
how come your little brother Jarvis kicked out the jams when he was three-year-old?
old, but you never came on to kick
out the jams. Because he's not
scared of spiders. So you're
afraid that in this basement studio
there are spiders. Yes.
So that's why you avoid the basement studio.
100%
But how come you're here right now?
Because. Because?
Because. Because it's your 10th birthday.
I don't see anything.
Okay, well, happy birthday, Morgan.
Thanks for doing this. If you would like to tell me
your favorite song of all time, maybe
I'll play it on the way out here.
Okay, I like Appalite.
And who sings Opelite?
Taylor Swift.
You did kick out a jam for that Valentine's Day kick out the jam episode I put together.
You kicked out Taylor Swift then.
Is that the only artist you're capable of kicking out?
I don't know.
All right, Opelite for you on your 10th birthday, okay?
Okay.
Now, you haven't opened any gifts yet today, but is there a...
Yes.
Like a gift you really, really, really want?
Not really.
You've got everything you need
And we're on a new bike
Okay, so is that okay
Well there's something
So you're hoping for your 10th birthday
You get a new bicycle
Yeah
All right
Here's your jam
Happy birthday Morgan
Love you
I had a bad habit
Missing lovers
Pats trash
It's never gonna last
I thought my house was home
For the foes
And all of the friends
I see it before
They'll see it again
Life is a song it ends when it ends
You couldn't understand
You felt alone
You were just a pose
And don't we try to love love
