Episode Date: July 22, 2024A new series from our friends at Voyage Media!Based on a true story. Sidney Buchman was nominated for four Oscars, but his career came to a screeching halt when he was accused of communist ties. In a ...wild true story of art imitating life, Sidney, who wrote "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington", would have his own face-off with Washington, when he was pressured to "name names" of other suspected communists to get himself off the hook. Silver, Sidney's real-life grandson (and an accomplished actor and writer himself), plays his grandfather in this scripted audio drama podcast reminiscent of TV and movies like "The West Wing", and "The Trial Of The Chicago 7".https://www.voyagemedia.fm/show/mr-buchman-goes-to-washington/Check this series out before the new episode of Tower 4 which is out next week!!! Hey, lambs, what's going on? It's Jack with Seven Lamb Productions here to talk to you about another podcast
from our friends at Voyage Media called Mr. Buckman Goes to Washington.
It's basically an Aaron Sorkin movie in podcast form.
So if you like the West Wing or the trial of the Chicago 7 or a few good men, you'll enjoy this.
It's a true story about a writer who was nominated for four Oscars.
He got accused of being a communist and was hauled in front of the House of Un-American Activities Committee
and pressure to name names of other suspected communists.
If he refused, his career would be over, he'd be blacklisted.
If he did it, he'd get off the hook.
And crazy enough, the writer, Sidney Buckman, who wrote Mr. Smith Goes to Washington with James Stewart,
he had a grandson who became a successful writer and actor, Michael B. Silver.
And Michael stars in the podcast playing his own grandfather.
It's a really well-produced, snappy, funny, entertaining show again.
If you enjoyed any Aaron Sork and courtroom movie, you'll definitely enjoy Mr. Buckman
goes to Washington. Look for Mr. Buckman
goes to Washington from Voyage Media
anywhere you listen to podcasts.
If you enjoyed the West Wing or the trial of the Chicago
7 gripping stories that blend
real world issues with humor, wit, and entertainment,
look for Mr. Buckman goes to Washington,
now playing from Voyage Media. It's a new
audio drama based on a true story that takes you into
Hollywood's golden age and its darkest hour.
Sir, early
these hearings, a witness identified you as a member of the Communist Party. Mr. Buckman,
are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist Party?
Sidney Buckman was nominated from four Oscars and wrote the classic film Mr. Smith goes to
Washington about an idealist facing government corruption. But art mirrored life when Sidney
faced his own battle against the government after being accused of communist ties.
Sidney Buckman had to choose between his honor and his career in Hollywood.
They wanted us to name the names of other communists, publicly betray my friends and coworkers.
Tell the bastards what they want to hear. Shut them up so we can get back to work.
Lie to them.
You're not a fucking virgin, Buckman. You're a Columbia producer.
Lying is your job. You lie about screen time, about Final Cut, about back end points.
You say what you need to say to make a movie. So now, say what you need to say.
to keep making movies.
If I offered up this sacrifice, I'd have been redeemed
and free to remain in the Hollywood elite.
If I didn't, they would destroy my career.
Now playing from Voyage Media, Mr. Buckman goes to Washington.
