It is more than money, baby,
1,156 days trading secrets has been live.
And on this episode of More Than Money, we got the one and only, the curious Canadian and myself here to banter.
a little bit to talk about the fact that this is our three, three, three year anniversary.
It's really hard to even comprehend.
You know, I think about it, David.
You had mentioned it to me before this podcast.
I've really recorded this episode in four different homes.
Our lives have changed so drastically in three years.
We recorded 167 episodes every day on Trading Secrets, Instagram that the market's open.
We have had five to ten stories go out about things people got to know.
Every Monday morning, they wake up to a Trading Secrets newsletter.
They have a YouTube channel.
We have an all-access networking group.
We've done plenty of live events.
Come a long way.
So, David, we're not talking numbers, not talking dollars.
We're not talking about our network transitions.
We're talking life today, man.
Three years, I just, I'll just kick it to you.
When you think three years,
years of this fucking podcast.
What do you think? What do you
thinking? Well, I'm thinking
how. I'm just thinking
how. You know, you say
all those things and it, all
I get is flashbacks.
I get quick memories of you in the
New Mexico house when we started
the podcast. I get, you know, all
the different backgrounds that you and different
backgrounds you and I have had throughout the
years. The incredible guests, the
incredible lessons learned.
It does feel surreal.
It's also kind of a reminder of how fast time goes by, starting this in 2021 just after COVID.
But it's just surreal, man.
And, you know, you said on our last More Than Money episode, you know, and I was talking about coffee in my hand, you see me right now.
I'm kicked back.
My feet are up.
I got a drink in my hand.
I am just so grateful and happy to be on the ones and twos with you.
And like you said, we're just going to banter.
We're going to reflect.
We might need a word if it gets to in the weeds with money.
this is more than money baby let's talk it out all right let's talk it out let's also talk
numbers we got to give ourselves a little pat on the back for all the podcasts that are out there
90% of podcasts don't get past episode three 1.8 million that number's huge 1.8 million
podcasts quit before they even get started of the 200,000 left 90% quit after 20 episodes
after releasing over 500 episodes this person then goes on to talk about things you could do
but 90% of them don't even get past episode three and here we are 169 in
and you know what's crazy about that i just listened to the howie mandal episode that you
recorded i think's coming out in two weeks and he has a quote that's so relevant to that
um and i'm just proud of us for not quitting i'm proud of us for sometimes when we
we felt maybe the direction of the pot
or the guests that were coming.
I'm glad that we didn't quit
and we just kept picking up the mic and recording.
You've had a lot happened
in your personal and your work life
and you never stopped.
I've had a lot happen to my personal life
adding a kid and traveling
for work with hockey all the time.
We always found away, man.
I would love to know how many states
we've recorded from.
I would love, I would love
to know all of those things
because it's, you know,
like you said, it doesn't really make sense
and the fact that you and I are able to do this
together is really special.
And we have such loyal fans
and loyal listeners
who definitely make us feel
appreciated and valued.
And it's an incredible community.
The Mono Mafia, they're the best, man.
They're the absolute best.
They're the best. I think, yeah, you're right, man.
Think about the three years, all the different places
we've recorded from the scrap jobs we've had.
And another piece of just like gratefulness I want to share is like we haven't, you know, so many
podcasters I know out there, they take, they do seasons like they'll do enough.
They'll get sponsored and do 10 episodes and put all their thought and energy into it.
We have been going full fucking speed.
We have not missed one week.
And one of the things we said out there was when we started, we're like, okay, we're going
to bank all these episodes because we're never, ever going to miss a week.
And we know that consistency is key.
When people wake up Monday, they have to know the Trading Secrets episode will be there.
And for three years straight, you know, we've continued to do that.
But holy hell, there has been mess ups.
There's been episodes that, like, we recorded the whole thing and had to throw them out or the recording didn't work.
There's been all kinds of just complete mayhem from this podcast.
Let's, uh, let's, let's start with this, David.
When you think back, let's go, let's go to this.
biggest shit show of a podcast and, uh, the guests that you were most inspired by.
Give me that biggest shit show of a podcast we had. And the, uh, and by the way, everyone back
home, I don't have notes. We said we're not doing questions. We're just like talking off the
cough. Nothing is prepared here. So that's why he's laughing like that because he has no idea
that was coming. So I got, I got two. I think I'm going to go quickly. I'm just going to go
shit show and then you got to give me a moment
to think of the inspired one
shit show
has to be when we did
Jason Oppenheim
and he
put you on the spot
where I don't know if it was a mix up with
his assistant and said how much time
but you do every time before
he hear record you like all right 30 45 minutes
like we'll get into it if he and he goes
that's not going to work
I got 10 minutes max
you the look in your face
was so priceless
and I think you clipped it
into the episode that we did
that's number one
and then you know what
I'm going to save my other shit show one
because I want to ask you
at a different time
what your overall favorite episode is
and why and I'm going to save mine for that
so what's your biggest shit show
the biggest shit show I just think about
it wasn't even that big of a shit show
I just
it was like tough
it was tough to like
know where his brain was going
and like when he was like talking
was he mumbling was he not talking?
was even talking English, like I wasn't sure, but I really like respect and admire him,
especially for what he's accomplished in his tenure. But carrot top, I'm just like,
where did you film that by the fuck? A buddy's house that I met over the years and we just
recorded it like his closet in Vegas. Like our buddy has, uh, he owns this company where they
will pay guests to like go on podcast, kind of like cameo.
and him and I met through that
and then we recorded
and like his pot he had like you know
carrot tops walking in like he's got
his like you know beautiful family
with his wife and his two little girls
and like in comes caretop and I
and it was just a fucking
mess
that is unbelievable
and just like
what if I told you that year one
episode one we were going to have caratop
you'd be like in what world does this
fit or how am I ever going to come in contact with Carrotop?
Yeah.
Well, I got another one too.
I got, before I go to your favorite, this would be mine.
Favorite guest to podcasts with my number one favorite person to go and banter with, of
course, other than you, 100% corporate Natalie.
I could just sit there and fucking banter and talk shit and just go back and forth,
zing for zing.
I could do it for hours with her.
Corporate Natalie's incredible.
yeah you've you've uh you've said that before too um my favorite uh in person guest a podcast with
obviously other than yourself would be i've only been on like four of them live uh so i'm just
going to say cat stickler because that was just in a whole that want to talk about funny that was maybe
the biggest shit show episode we were recorded with um the slow start and the you know how funny
that was at the start we kept looking at each other i'm going to say for real quick with that too i think
Which is good. What I like about that episode, that was so amazing to me is like, I said it on that podcast, that recap. I've never seen, literally, never, not one human who walks into the door of the podcast and you're talking with them before and then walks on the microphone, identical. Like with Kat, there was no show, no fucking tone, no little fake, little big laugh, whatever. I mean, the same exact person to a T. And it was.
it was hilarious. And for people that don't know with that episode, we had met probably,
I think it was like two weeks ago before that. So a lot of people were like, did you guys
meet on the podcast? No, her and I met when the vice president of our agency got married in
Tampa Bay. So I was thinking, like, who could be a good guest to come on in Tampa Bay? Maybe
Rob, maybe Camille. I was like, oh, Kat and Kat agreed to it. And then last minute backed out. And
then the reason she backed out she had to travel and then she didn't have to travel so i was
like all right well we can't get a studio but might as well get lunch so i bet her two weeks ago so
yeah that was uh two weeks prior on that that was good one but baby go to your best one so my
most inspirational um and i and i don't want to steal your thunder because i feel like you're
going to say this one my most inspirational was probably rob dear deck um just because
he showcased just a sheer different approach to life um it's not one
that I think that I could ever replicate,
which I think is fine.
But it definitely was the most eye-opening,
holy shit that actually happens.
And he's uber successful,
so he's doing something right.
That to me was like probably one of the most
eye-opening inspirational ones
that I've had.
My favorite...
You say you're inspirational.
And then I'll say favorite because...
I have a ton, but I mean,
the Chris Voss episode,
if you haven't listened to it,
like that was like a life-changing episode.
The guy I just like was,
was most impressed by his presence.
Who's ever been on this show was Mauricio.
His presence is just so is A-Rods, like so big.
Hannah Burner, Harry Jousy, Lindsay, Arnold, Lala, Kent,
Josh Peck, Grank, Molly Bloom.
Those are some of my top ones too.
Molly Bloom was close to my favorite episode.
My favorite episode, Jay, and again,
truly I can't say this because it's cheesy and I don't want to get too cheesy.
My favorite episodes are the ones that I get to do with you.
Because those are the most surreal ones for me.
My favorite episode we ever recorded was Mr. Wonderful and Kevin O'Leary.
Why?
And I'm going to, because I have to paint a picture for the people.
Okay.
When we started this podcast, our original network told us that we had to bank six to eight episodes before we could release one.
As Jay mentioned, the reason podcast fails, they don't get past three episodes.
So they make sure you bank some.
So even if you suck, you have six episodes.
episodes to see if it goes, okay?
The first episode we ever
recorded, I was on all the
episodes, so I didn't do the recap. So
I was zooming from wherever I was. Sometimes
I was in a hockey rink. Sometimes it's in my basement.
Jay's in this house in New Mexico
because Zach was filming
the Bachelorette at the time.
So the first person we ever did was
Elena Davies from Big Brother.
We were peeing our pants laughing and I was like,
this is going to be so fun.
Then we had Corinne from Survivor and I was like,
okay, that was energy was a little different.
like we both were kind of like new on the mics maybe like foot in the mouth a little bit
and then we had Mr. Wonderful so this is the first real big guess that we've had on
and we were trying to get the hang of it I just remember him coming on to the podcast
and we did all these podcasts by Zoom he had the shark tank background he had three different
camera angles we almost got put in a waiting room with his assistant who like prepped us for
the interview before we went in he was in a suit and tie product placement i was like i feel so
underdress for this and we crushed that episode it was so good it was my favorite because it was
just so much like oh my god we're doing this moment that was a wild moment like how the fuck
did we get kevin o'leary to agree to this this guy's in like a multi-million dollar studio and you
and i are on like broken chairs and i'm like i don't even i'm using like lighting from the
window corner in new mexico albuquerque that were set up from the bachelor it was hilarious i think
about some behind-the-scenes stuff so some stuff that like i don't know if i've ever shared when we
had a rod on the podcast it was the day that the hall of fame um ballot came out and so we're just
about to record and as we're recording he's like all right i got you got to get up i got to talk to and he
brings me in a conference room he's got a big presence he's a big dude too and he's like all right listen
We can't talk about the Hall of Fame
because no matter what I say,
good, bad, or ugly, people use it against me.
There's nothing that can't win, no matter what side I take.
I was like, absolutely.
And then we started walking out.
And he said, oh, yeah, and no J-Lo talk.
I was like, shit, that could have been good clickbait,
but I'll let that go.
Would you say who is the most nervous you were ever for a guess?
Was it a road?
The most nervous.
nerves were high for Arod
Yeah
Because the whole
I'm always going to be more nervous in person
Because there's so much more to it
Yeah
And sometimes when you're in there
Like that was at his office
In his setup
Like you can't get comfortable
Like when you're in your setting
Or a studio you've recorded before
You probably just
You know where to put your iPad
For you know
For your notes and stuff
like that must have been pressure cooker central it was i was a little i get i get a little nervous
before everyone but it's i don't know if it's nervous or it's just like the the jitters which is like
good because that means you're enjoying it you're attentive you're stimulated it's like even
howie mande because i always want to do a good job too i'm always like i want to impress the person
i'm interviewing so i always get a little bit nervous but even like the todd graves one i was pretty
nervous for because I'm going I'm going up guys worth over a nine billion bucks I just spent the
weekend with him like he's this guy's a big fucking deal yeah I was in his room and the the ones I
always get a little bit more nervous for is where I don't have a microphone like this I'm clipped on
because when I have a microphone like this it's a big object and it also it's like clearly like
we're doing like I got to talk in the mic we're doing like a show here and when I have the clip on
it's almost like TV where people on TV they're not expecting
to have notes. They're not supposed to look down. I have an iPad. So there's like more memorization
that's required if that makes sense. Yeah. It's so funny to listening to the episodes before we
recap them. You can totally tell now that you've been doing it for so long, like when you're in your
groove and like you have your notes and like you know you got to ask these questions, but you
don't, you want to ask them with proper flow. You come out of the gate with the intro and then within
like the first three minutes, I feel like I can always tell when this is going to be like a bread
in butter where like you just get into it and it flows and sometimes the guests maybe doesn't
respond to the intro the same way or maybe it's a little more reserved or maybe it doesn't give
you what you you can't transition to the first or the second question it's just so funny to see how
like over time like you adapt to those different situations because you've we've had so many
different types of guests on so it's another thing that's interesting i've noticed is i talk about
my nerves i notice a lot of people get nervous on my show you can really like you when they get
chest hives or when we finish the show they'll be like oh my god i really like that but that was
like intense like we talked about a lot of crazy things or deep things or money things and there's a
sense of discomfort and when i go to take a picture with my guest it's almost always david always
their backs are like so sweaty oh my god that's always it's like almost every time they like take
a picture like sorry it was like that was a lot you know because i think people in general just don't
feel is comfortable still, of course, talking about this stuff. But yeah, I mean, I look at
our list. It's so like, you know, Dr. Pimple Popper was great. Craig Conover was great. Brian,
chicken fry before she started dating Zach, Brian, Steve Wilcos, you know, just so many great,
great guests. But man, three years ago was a long time ago. It's wild how life looks different
today. You, you weren't, you didn't have a child three years ago. Didn't have a child
three years ago. I didn't even have our wedding three years ago. You were married, right?
I was married, but we hadn't had the wedding yet.
COVID canceled our original wedding.
So we had our wedding two months after our first season.
Yeah, man, I definitely, there's been so many times, Jay, where I was basically had a text
written to you to say like, hey, we got to talk.
I don't know if I can do this anymore.
And I never sent it, which is good.
I don't know.
Tell me, man.
No, you've never told me.
Tell me more.
Just too much time?
what for like the dollars and cents not even the dollars and cents man like you are a very
particular person especially when it comes to your your businesses i've always looked at this
as i can help in any way that i can and i always wanted to make sure that i'm holding on my end of
the bargain and you know you've been super flexible i've been flexible we've been flexible
with each other's schedule we've always made this a priority um but when you throw a kid in the
mix and you're on a few hours of sleep and it's in the middle of the hockey season
and you got to travel and you're away for four days like finding it may not seem like a lot but finding an hour and a half to listen to the episode and get ready to record and recap and just bring the quality that I want to bring to you for letting me do this and for the people like I want there's been so many times where I felt like I didn't think I'd be able to do it um but it just you know like I said before the fact that we haven't quit the fact that you've allowed me to do this with you the fact that I think you keep getting better what you do I'd
like to think I keep getting better at what I do.
It's been so, so cool.
So yeah, life has changed a ton, but, you know, as we get better with podcasts, I get
better with being a dad and being more comfortable in that situation.
So it's changed a ton, but, you know, for you, has the podcast itself, has it pivoted or
changed from what your original intent was?
Or has it pretty much been, you know, if we recorded day one, hey, day one episode, what
does our three year anniversary look like what does a podcast look like is it similar to that or has
a pivoted or changed oh man if we go down the rabbit hole of the podcast it's interesting so
especially if i look at a timetable so three years ago we launched it and it was just a couple
weeks after i had gotten engaged and i think about the starting point of it and i think part
of our idea was like i'm from the bachelor franchise
but let's just start talking money, finance, and business.
Now, wild fact is when I was recently lost my job
and was looking for like what was next, you know, I was doing well, right?
So I talk about what I was making and stuff, but there was still a period of like,
what the hell do I do, right?
I built out restart.
So that was in like 2020, which was really focused on career and finance.
It was like just my Instagram page.
now do videos and tutorials.
Well, I got offered to do the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, which still exists today, right?
And it's run by the network.
And right now, Joe and Serena are the hosts.
But at the time, I auditioned with Hannah Ann, Tasha, and myself.
And they really wanted me to do it.
I negotiated hard.
I got up to 100K.
All I had to do was show up.
to show up podcast once a week. I declined that opportunity. I declined it. I won't get into
why I declined it, but I declined it. And then when this opportunity presented itself, I was like,
I have to take it. Like this is a dream. Like I'm speaking about finance and career stuff
in a space that I was just in. And this is a dream. And so what have we done with the podcast?
We've impacted lives. We've made people laugh. We've shared an
numbers. We've helped educate. David, I cannot tell you the amount of messages over the three
years I've gotten about people that have negotiated their raises, changed their careers,
completely gone in different directions. We have shaped people's entire professional and financial
direction, impacting also the personal direction from this podcast. To me, that is the most impactful
thing. And then I'll just end with your, it's a long answer to a short question, but when I say
directionally how have we changed i think your product has to change to where the people want to listen
okay yeah if i go to the episode i got that numbers i'm not going to talk money but if i go to the
episode david in the podcast it's almost always always always bachelor i'm going to look at our
top downloaded episodes a lot of bachelor dancing with the stars vanderpump
a couple founders FBI agent bachelor bachelor bachelor bachelor a couple other social media people
but the majority of it is people from the bachelor franchise so you got to start you got
to do what the people want and I think what the people want is pop culture meeting money and
meeting finance where they can be entertained but also learn so that's how I think the podcast has
changed I've oh my gosh David I've obviously gone through a lot too
Personally, there's been a whole lot of journeys thinking about filming this.
And, you know, when Caitlin was filming for Katie Thurston season of The Bachelorette, like,
I was in that house for two, three months doing this and to think where today is.
It's just crazy to think how life can change so much in three years.
So personally, my life's changed and certainly the direction of the podcast has changed.
What do you think's changed the most?
Yeah, I honestly am not sure how much it has.
changed. If you look at our first three
episodes, we had Dean Ungler from the
from the Bachelor. We had
Joe Gallier, who was
my intro to be like,
oh my God, I'm going to learn so much shit about
industries that I have no clue about because
he was the CEO of Viral Nation, which is basically
a influencer marketing firm.
And then we had Mr. Wonderful on.
So in my head, like, so there you go.
We had a finance kind of reality TV
business man. We had a
bachelor person. And then we had, you know,
an industry I had nothing, I knew nothing about.
and that stayed consistent.
And I think that's what we've kind of niched out.
We're now seeing articles on us or people on TikTok talking about the podcast calling it like
pop culture meets finance.
I think we've been able to do that.
And at the end of the day, we have had 4.9 star rating, which is a testament to you.
It's a testament to me.
It's a testament to our editors.
It's a testament to our fans who tune in to listen.
Over 5,000 ratings.
Those two numbers usually don't go hand in hand.
and people always comment about how they love their variety of guests.
So I don't know if it's pivoted and changed.
If anything, it has, we added the Thursday episodes.
We're still tinkering with those.
I've loved listening to all of them.
I think it's, you know, it's kind of like a breath of fresh air almost in some sense
about just hearing different things and perspectives on more everyday life topics.
So I think, I think we've kind of found our sweet spot.
And I say that without, you know, we still want to.
grow and we so want to get better. But I feel three years in, I feel like we're in a really good
place. We're in cruise control, but we keep clicking that little dial up one mile an hour at a
time. And I think it's a really good place to be. Well, the numbers are going up. The reviews are
going up. The YouTube listeners are going up. The downloads are going up and are following on Instagram's
going up. So it's all moving in the right direction. I think what we look at like Bachelor data,
something else I think we should be proud of to, right? There are so many directions.
we could have gone with this, you know, and there's so, it would have, I'm just going to call a spade
a spade. It would have been so easy for me to grab a fucking Bachelor guy or girl and do this
podcast and like, or someone in, right? I think it's cool that you and I did it. I was never a lead.
I got to go on one show. And when I look at Bachelor data, these are the biggest podcast by former
contestants of Bachelor Nation and their launch dates. Okay. So Nick Vial, right, January 2019.
he is by a long shot the best podcast of Bachelor alum but again started you know two and a half years before us was a lead three years before then off the vine you know started in May 2017 um again same type of deal bachelor happy hour supported by the ABC franchise always leads or big contestants they always get the best guests because they have that connection in you have almost famous with Ben and Ashley started in two
2017, like two major players in the bachelor's space,
higher learning, which is an incredible show with Rachel Lindsay.
But with Rachel Lindsay, her guest is Van Lathen,
who is a huge personality and absolutely kills it in this space.
And then you got Lady Gang, you know,
they've been around since 2015.
You got scrubbing in with Rio Tanya and Beckettili.
That's Ryan Seacris, everyday co-host in Becatilly.
And then you got Trading Seekyllis.
with Jason Tarney and David Arnaud, you know, the guy from Rochester and Buffalo.
And so what I feel like compare, I don't like ever comparing things to peers, but when you look
at the Bachelor franchise, it's a good indicator. And those shows that we named above do not compete
with us. We don't compete with them. And they do great. And all of them are amazing,
amazing hosts. Every single one of those shows. But like, do you know how many people from
the Bachelor franchise that were leads or like contestants or, you know, have.
You know, there's some, there's some shows I'm looking at right now that have three or four hosts that are from the franchise.
You have three or four people with power.
You know, I mean, you have, I'm looking at one show that has a massive, massive lead.
Maybe the biggest lead ever is running that show and it's not doing the numbers we're doing.
And I just think about the fact that we should be proud of that, man.
We stayed in our lane.
We stayed to the objective.
And it's me and a schmuck I met in college.
and here we are three years later still fucking ripping and roar it
i love it i mean look talk like you know you this was all your idea i was so excited when
you when you told us that you were getting the podcast i was over excited sharing you ideas
that i thought that you should do guests that i thought you could have thank god i don't do
the pre-show notes anymore because god i don't know if we would have made it more than three
episodes if i still did shout out stephen who's taking that off my place
late um but i get the you know i was on episodes to start we figure we need consistency the only
way to get consistency with our schedule is to hop on the recap um voice of the viewer stuff man
dumb it down because i'm that's just where i'm at i'm a 101 finance guy and you know a 301
masterclass life experience guy um and i just like to to come on here and shed my insights because
you know your listenership is probably in the you know middle class nine to five you know
family picket fence like two income household trying to make it day by day and they just want to
come on and be entertained and learn and i think we've been able to do that it's been like i said
really special to be a part of um you know one question that i do have for you when i think about
the podcast like you talked a little bit about pre the podcast but how has the podcast really
impacted your life like like how has it really because i know how much we make on the podcast we're
not talking dollars and cents here, but I know from JTA, which we do talk about that.
If you haven't listened, go listen every year, end of the year, recap Jason's finances.
I know that this is not even your top three revenue sources that you make, but I guarantee
it's your number one most consuming time thing that you do.
So there has to be a reason.
Tell me how this podcast has impacted your life and why the hell you keep doing it.
Okay.
So it's, you know, yeah, I think that's important.
No, right?
Is it a top revenue source?
No, is it profitable? Of course. We share those numbers every single year. But the biggest thing
that this show has done for me is networking, accessibility into plate like, you know, I'm sitting
at Arod's office interviewing him and building a relationship with him. Like the opportunity
it's given me for accessibility and networking has been huge. Which you only got because we had
Mark Lurion, who was his business partner and he said, Arod, you don't do podcast. You got. You
got to do this fucking guy's podcast.
So speaking about networking, it all connects.
Exactly.
We do a multi-billionaire's podcast, Mark Lurie, he's partners with A-Rod.
Mark Lurie posts the clips that we give.
A-Rod sees the clips that we're doing.
His team reaches out, right?
So all this started from me creating an Instagram saying, I can't hammer all my bachelor
audience with business stuff.
I created an Instagram called Restart.
That's where it started.
And from the restart, I got a book deal.
that came training secrets now with the agency people that come on this Kevin O'Leary we've done so many
deals with Kevin O'Leary on the talent management side of things you mentioned his name so the the opportunity
the networking the accessibility and the way that it's spider webs into all my other businesses has been
massive and that's not to mention just the overall branding right like having this podcast and these
clips that are making millions and millions of impressions month and month out
a brand is being connected to me and because of that larger opportunities like the capital one cafe
deal show up and other things that really can make significant impact on my life so it's not
about like right now rate this second what it's doing it's about the larger picture do you think
that this podcast has provided you consistency in your life that despite what you've
gone through in your personal life since we've started has been really important
foundationally yeah yeah i mean i'll dude i'll tell you man fuck me when i had to do that
intro or like the day after we announced even though yeah when we announced the breakup that
was that was two months that was over two months from when the initial breakup happened yeah but
that like trying to get back on and doing that was like really tough but but
But, you know, if I have one regret, if I have one regret with the podcast that I
haven't done that maybe I'll step into in the future, especially with a lot of life
changes coming my way, like to open up more personally, you know?
We talk about that a lot, though.
And you always say like that, but that's not what trading secrets is about.
I know.
Training Secrets is about your guest who comes on, you talk money,
you give education on career management, navigation, and you give tips,
and we recap the guests.
And, you know, I always want to get your inputs on what, you know, areas the guests talk about.
But, Jay, I want you to do that too more, too.
This is what more than money is for.
Yeah.
This is the once a month, Jay and David, kick the feedback, no notes,
dig into what's going on in your life.
And now it's more than money.
It's a play.
It's who you are.
as a human being, it's a place where you can come and talk about that stuff because I think
it's therapeutic. I think people connect with it. I think it makes you more relatable. And at the
end of the day, if you're sitting here telling me after three years of doing this, your only regret
is that you don't open up more. Well, guess what? We hopefully got three more years left. Let's get into
that habit, baby. I'm right here with you. Yeah. I do think there's something, there's a lot there.
There's so much to open up about that I don't. So I'm with you with that. Well, we'll continue to
focus on that, gives us an opportunity. It's just so hard because words have such power.
The words have such power, you know, and I don't like to negatively impact anyone or
anything with my words, but. And that's why you got the curious Canadian here. You got the voice
the viewer. I know if I let you on lay shit and get ugly. We'll save. Well, yeah, we'll save
those. We'll save those for the, uh, the text and the late night calls. But, um, um,
one question I got to ask for you.
It can be rapid fire.
Don't put you too much thought into it.
Maybe you have realistic.
I always say Justin Bieber and Justin Bieber,
he's never coming on the podcast.
Do you have some guests as we look forward to the next year,
the next three years,
or any rapid fire guests you'd love to have on?
I got three.
I mean,
my dream would be Denzel Washington,
which I honestly don't.
I don't think Denzel's like way out of the question.
I don't think it's a fucking reach.
But I think like,
I think it's possible.
he is my absolute dream guest would be denzil i didn't know that yeah oh yeah i find well i mean one of my favorite
actors i love the way he speaks i love like his messaging i've just always been a huge i think he's like a
genius you know who would be i have a new new dream guest that's like a big stretch and he would never do it
we'll never get him he's nowhere to be found is jim carrie yes oh my god dude you ever watch like speeches
of him like that guy is unbelievable yeah i i would
need we would need to book him for an hour for the pod and then i would need to book them for
24 hours just in a room with some cigars in a bottle of bourbon and just the three of us
and i would i'd get deep with that guy he's seen some shit oh he has seen some shit yeah who are
you three i'm going to go a little more realistic um i want miss rachel on the podcast you
water so bad be dude i've never had someone pepper me more about why
You know what? I want to do. I want to, my next book's going to be a children's book for kids.
Like, yes. And yes, I will help you write it. Um, dude, I'm telling you, Miss Rachel, she's on our TV six to eight hours a day, probably. I never understood it. I get it now. She, her, her production value is like so, like low for how big she is. And you know, we've talked to YouTube money on the show. She's probably, Jay, she's probably making like, I just, I can't even imagine how much.
money she's making on YouTube I want to know I want to miss Rachel on because she's never
done a podcast before or not that that I know of I would love to have page de Sorbo on
um from summer house I would love to have right her because her energy is everything um you know
she's basically like me in in female form and I resonate with that um because she's stubborn
she has attitude and she's hilarious um and I would love to have Dave Portnoy on because I think
he's an absolute genius. I think
he's, you know, extremely
like misunderstood sometimes. His philanthropy
work, his business work. He's
probably one of the, you know,
most unique entrepreneurs of our
generation. I would love to have them on. And we've had
basically every single person under the barstool
umbrella. And so those are my, those are my
big three.
There's been a lot of change in the last year, but the one
thing that's remained consistent are what the boys
ramen and Pino are eating, the
farmer's dog. It was founded by two
dog lovers who decided to reimagine
pet food from the ground up. In the 10 years since they delivered their first meal,
the response has been incredible. The farmer's dog makes real fresh dog food and delivers it
right to your door. Recipes are developed by vet nutritionists made from real meat
in veggies portioned right to your dog. I'm actually watching ramen and Pino eat their meals
right now. I can literally see the real veggies in their meal. And a fresh diet has also been
found to have all sorts of benefit, a healthier coat and skin to our favorite, fresher breath,
and even better digestion and smaller, better poops. A healthy diet isn't just important
for humans. So get 50% off your first box of fresh healthy food at thefarmer's dog.com

This is fascinating, David.
Rachel, Miss Rachel, I didn't know how much she was charging,
but I heard she was going to get on Cameo.
So she went on Cameo.
She said, I joined Cameo to raise money to save the Children's Emergency Fund.
And so she then did like 37 videos or has 37 reviews.
And now she's temporary unavailable.
I wonder what happened.
Something must have happened that she went off.
Yeah, Miss Rachel's.
Miss Rachel got out.
She got out.
But I like that.
I think Dave Portnoy is very doable, honestly.
I think we could get him.
We're in touch with them.
Like, Evan, we text them.
He just, he's like, I just, you know, he says no a lot.
I got to find a way to provide value to him.
We've had Brianna chicken fry.
Like I said, we've had chicks in the office.
that was a great episode.
We had the former CEO, Eric Nardini, Biz Nasty.
We've had a ton of, you know, so I feel like, I don't know, we could get them one day.
Yeah, one day.
You know, you got to have people, you got to have people, you got to have people in the crosshairs, ready to come on.
You can't go another three years without having guests that you never had before.
Yeah, no, you're right.
We'll see.
We'll do it.
And before we wrap, I'll give a shout.
I mean, it does take an army.
Like we have, this is why podcasting is so hard.
It truly does take an army.
Blake is our operations manager at rewired talent management.
She plays a big part in this podcast.
Evan is huge in booking guests.
Jesse runs our social media.
John Gurney does all of our audio.
Kaylee does our summaries and titles.
Keith has sourced a bunch of founder opportunities for us.
Megan has sourced a bunch of opportunities for us.
Mark Holzer does all of our video editing.
Stephen does our podcast prep in the one in.
only the Curious Canadian does all our recap. So it's a large team. There's a lot of people.
There's a lot to get done. The newsletter, the Instagram, all that stuff. The biggest thing I'm
thinking about, David, is I did a focus group for my book tour, and I got like 40 to 50 people
come on, and they just gave us feedback. I think we should do a focus group where we lock it down
to like 50 people, and we do a whole session of just come on and give us feedback. What do you need?
what do you hate what should we change should link this that all the stuff the only people
that i want part of that focus group are people that are listening 306 minutes into this podcast
right now because you are the real ones and you would probably give us the most honest value so
here's what we're doing let's do it you go to the reviews okay you say i want to be in the focus group
yes okay you get a guaranteed spot
you get a guaranteed spot or capping the focus group at
50 30 50 okay 50 50 50 50 50 50 people in the review say I would love to be part of the focus group
put your Instagram put a email put something how we can contact you because if you don't
put anything we can't contact you we will all hop on a zoom we'll get on the ones and twos
and we'll just break it down so we would love we would love to do that I love what great
idea. Great idea. And we are here to stay. We're not going anywhere. You know, there will be
changes. There will be hopefully, you know, better. I mean, we've had really good guess, but even
better guess. Hopefully better information. We'll take the, the feedback you give us and we'll try
and make the most with it. And, but we're going to be here. It just takes two mics and a couple
friends connect in every week, which is also a great, you know, Dave, I've had the chance to
connect with so many people. I'm like, so, you know, who have you caught up with lately? Who have
you talk to and I'm like well I get to talk to David every week we get to do our little
catch up and like how cool is it that you can mix pleasure friendship and some business it's
pretty fun yeah like I say all the time it's surreal truly my favorite guest that we have on is
is when it's just us um it's just one of those bucket list things that you just never thought that
you'd ever be able to do and every year that goes by that we do a jTA or you know
anniversary of the podcast I'm glad so glad you gave a shout out to the team because
you know, it truly is a family. And the strategic calls are starting to get hilarious.
And the group chat is blown up, uh, shout out Blake this morning because there's hilarious.
So, uh, we had, we had a little inside scoop. We had our operations manager. We talked
about a guest, um, we talked about a guest that has been on or will be on or we would
like to have on. I'll keep it very vague. And she said, God, that guy's hot. And David and I just
absolutely. And trust me, David and.
If there's a guy that's hot or he's got swag, we'd be like, oh, that guy drips sweat. Like, good for him. Like, we'll pump through tires. We just absolutely crushed her for this call and the banter at 8 a.m. and the trading secrets group chat was unbelievable. It was great. It was great. Well, listen, thank you so much for always supporting the show. Remember to hit subscribe five stars and just say you want to be on the focus group. Just put your email address in there. A way we can contact you in the review.
view and uh david anything you want to close us out with no um three years man uh if we can
make it another three years i can't wait to uh reflect on that see where you're at in your
personal life see where i'm at in my personal life see how many more houses you're going to
recap from uh and uh and go on this journey with you so as always you know thank you to you
Thank you to our listeners.
You guys are the ones who are able to make this happen for us
and just happen to be a part of it.
Shout out Money Mafia Trading Secrets.
Shout out Money Mafia Trading Secrets when we do our six-year anniversary, David.
I pray to God, I am not sitting in a little ranch-style house
in Nashville, Tennessee by myself.
And something tells me that that's going to have to lead to more opening up
personally on more than money.
So more to come.
it has been an absolute honor, privilege to be in the hot seat with you, three years running.
Everyone told us we had no shot. People were like, what are you doing, picking a friend.
David's family was like, do you have time for this? There has been a million reasons and a
million others that have told us, you got no shot, you got no chance. Three years later,
we're in over 100 countries, 15 million plus downloads, and we are just enjoying every minute of it.
and we couldn't have done it without you.
So Money Mafia, Unite.
Thank you for all your support.
And we will see you three years from now
at our six-year anniversary.
See you next Monday for let me tell you.
Holy shit, we were going to go,
Howie Mendel.
He was set in stone to go live Monday.
I had to make a change instantly
because Alex Hall from selling the OC
is trading the secrets on Monday.
I'm coming.
I'm coming.
