Still eat my loaf of bread A lot of the days You are white
Starting point is 00:01:08 Still do that shit Yeah I don't stop I just I don't believe you I showed mood on it It's like actually died He asked me for it And he asked me of one day's notice Luckily I had a whole loaf
Starting point is 00:01:20 That's crazy That's very lucky Jesus You would have thrived in the 1300s I would have worked fucking hard Yeah I would have been very happy Because I also have to imagine
Starting point is 00:01:33 And their bread is better than ours. Their bread? Yeah, probably like in the 1300s. They, yeah. No way it's better than ours. No way it's better. No way. They don't have anything else. Yeah, but everyone got fresh bread.
Starting point is 00:01:45 They don't have the technology that we do. They don't need these like hipster sour dough people. They probably just made godlike bread every single bread. But where's the benzodia? Are you saying you think food was better back in the middle ages than it is now? I think it better for me. for a brother, it's been like 20 years and food has like gotten like so much better just in 20 years. How much better can you make cooked wheat though?
Starting point is 00:02:12 Yeah, I think bread was better back then. That's my hill. What's the limit to cooked wheat? Because you would get it fresh every day. You can get it fresh now. No. Are you saying bread versus like, are you saying like breads like peasant bread in the middle ages versus? Maybe not the peasant bread.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I mean, well, usually a peasant. All of you to assume you would have, you would have been anything a barma peasant. Versus like the bakeries of today, you think, you think, you think the bread back then would be better. I mean, if we're, if we go to like, possibly, possibly. If we go to like supermarkets, like fucking, you know, supermarket. Wonderbread shit.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Wonderbread versus. Yeah, like, I think I've had, like, if I was born now versus then, I think on average, I'll have more better loaves of bread then. You know what I mean? Does that make sense? Because I've had so much bad bread in my life. Sure. Because they've managed to figure out these chemicals
Starting point is 00:03:07 that preserve them. Yeah, but you'd also have less opportunity to eat said good bread because you'd live to the age of like 32. No, I think, well, yes, but that I would have great years. You realize... I would have the bread. You realize people ate bread back then,
Starting point is 00:03:21 not just as like, you know, it wasn't as much of a luxury. Yeah, it was a necessity. I'm aware of that, you know? To me, it would be the luxury. I would think I'm in the... Okay, do you think beer tasted best at back? them? Because I don't think it did.
Starting point is 00:03:33 No, probably not. Probably tastes better now, I think. So, so, so why did you call the, why'd you draw the line of bread? This is a great question. The beer would have tasted like straight piss. So what's the same? The bread would have tasted like straight ass. Although maybe the beer did taste better back then.
Starting point is 00:03:51 No, no. Because they're using barrels, only barrels. And in Germany, they still do that. Look, I've tasted. Is there a recipe for 13th century beer? I've tasted cider that is made. from like the same process back in the day and it tastes like shit. They've one to 1.5 kilograms of bread a day.
Starting point is 00:04:10 I love how the Google AI is like many of the people ate a staggering amount of bread. And that's just my daily amount that I do normally. That's pretty fucking staggering, bro. See, this was pretty fucking great. Oh, they ate dense dark bread, the peasants, wonderful stuff. Yeah. So let's have a look. It says dark and coarse bread made from grains like barley, rye, oats,
Starting point is 00:04:31 even ground peas and beans. Wow. Wow. That sounds nice though. Pea bread? Look, the bread back then was made so people could get as many calories as they could as efficiently as possible. It wasn't all about taste. Yeah, but bread is such like empty calories because there's no energy. You don't get energy from bread. What are you talking about? What are you talking about? What the fuck are you talking about? Bread. Bread does Bread does not wake me up in the morning. It doesn't get me going throughout the day. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I don't get energy at all the bread. I would have been, I would have been absolutely fucking miserable in the 13th century. I'm like, oh, what's on the fucking dinner plate today? Oh, bread again. Sick, dude. What is this conversation right now?
Starting point is 00:05:20 Oh, we're recording. How did Connor start off of like an awful fucking... I just personally do not. get energy from bread. That is scientifically, your body does not have to look. That is just, I don't know if it's a psychological thing. I just don't get energy from bread at all. Scientifically you do.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I do, but explain yourself, Joey. Explain yourself. Explain yourself. Like, okay, so one of the reasons why I never enjoyed eating breakfast in the morning, right? It's because like the staple for a lot of people's things like toast, right? Or like, you know, even other, um, car-based stuff like, you know, you know, you know, you know, pancakes or croissants or whatever it might be, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:01 I don't know what it is. I just could never get, like, satisfied from eating bread in the morning. Like, I don't, like, for me, I'd rather eat something like eggs or, like, I don't know. Maybe this is just my Japanese side, but, like, even like rice, for instance. Like, I feel that gives me way more energy than a slice of bread. Dude, there's nothing worse than going, you know, somewhere. Or like bacon or something, right? And they just give you a bowl of rice.
Starting point is 00:06:25 And it's like, dude, I don't want this car. I don't want this. So scientifically speaking, Joe, you definitely, I can guarantee you this. I'm not denying that. I don't need the Moodan fact check for this. No, no, no, no. I'm not denying that.
Starting point is 00:06:39 I guarantee. I know it's a psychological thing. I guarantee you get energy from eating bread. I 100% agree with that. For me, psychologically, I don't, it doesn't wake me up. Yeah. Yeah. Probably what might be happening.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And this might be when you need the fact shake. Probably what's happening is that you're digesting. So you feel. you know, right after eating, you're probably feeling a little bit less energetic because a lot of energy is being put into digestion. Yeah, I get sluggish. Yeah, that is my guess, you know, as to what is happening. But that energy is being converted over the course of the entire day. Yeah, totally. The rest of the day. But I just don't, yeah, I don't feel like, all right, I'm ready to starve my day after my slice of toast. Like, I just don't, I don't know, I don't get that.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Yeah, because I also don't like eating a lot of, I mean, I don't like breakfast in general. Yeah, me neither. No, no. Like, I'm on the protein diet now. I'm, like, having to force myself to eat eggs in the morning again. And, like, the first couple of weeks I did it, I was just like, oh.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Yeah. I do not feel, I'm getting used to it now, but like... I love a good poached egg, but you need, you need, like, a slice of bread for it to absorb the, the egg juices. You need, like, a muffin, what's the word? Well, I get a muffin. Yeah, a muffin works, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:53 But now we're just making, we'd just making eggs better things. I just need some holiday sauce too. Look, if I'm going to have a post day, I want to, I want an expeating. For me, the one thing I hate at breakfast is like sugar. I just, like anything too sugary, obviously like the American breakfast with the pancakes and the syrup. Oh, no. How they handle it?
Starting point is 00:08:15 I'm tired of pretending that juice is acceptable. I'm tired of us. What do you mean? What do you mean? Juice is general? I just hate juice. I think juice is such a scam. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:26 actually juices where I draw the line for like, I allow that shit. You know it's just like, it's like just soda, right? You know that, right? So? It's just soda. Oh, we're talking like in a cotton juice, not like the freshly squeezed juice.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Look, freshly squeaked, whatever the fuck you want to, whatever kind of woke nonsense. Because there was a period in the, there was a period in the Bizzinger household where we bought one of those like fucking ninja juices. Yeah. Oh, hell yeah. And, you know, because my dad was like,
Starting point is 00:08:53 oh, I want to test this shit out. And then every morning my dad would make like, fucking gallons of these like different like fruit and vegetable juices. That shit was bomb as fuck. It's just bullshit that you when you when you when you when you fucking juice it when you when you when you fucking juice it loses every healthy aspect. Yeah. How the fuck does that happen? How the fuck that how how weak are you as a fruit where you crumble every benefit you offer us as a society is fucking gone just we blended you up it's going to happen anywhere in my stomach. Why? I don't know. We're not smart enough for that shit.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I feel like something's wrong with that, you know. What do you mean? No, I'm a juice drinker. I love juice. I would drink juice. I could drink juice every day in the morning. I mean, I could drink it every day in the morning. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Because it's yummy. But the other thing is that it's just soda. It's like fucking shit. Yeah. What do you mean? It's just soda. Well, that's why you've got to get like the 100% one, right? I think it's like no different for like your body
Starting point is 00:09:50 from just drinking like a fucking sugary drink. So are we talking like the process? kind of like concentrated juice ones. Are we talking like the one percent fruit juice shit or? Yeah, the actual fresh juice. Okay, I mean. How often do you eat fruit? Not that often.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Maybe once or we. I'm a veg only guy. You're a veg only guy? Yeah, like fucking veg marks the shit out of fruit. Oh, fuck off. Fuck off. What? What?
Starting point is 00:10:20 Veg is so much better than fruit. Fruit. It's the most trash taste conversation. Yeah, it is. No, no, no, no. I mean, I mean, you can't just, you can't just get, like, all fruits away. You know, you've got to give some fruits the past.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Fruit is good, but it's, it's like nature's dessert, whereas veg is like the backbone. What do you mean? According to you. Me, veg is so much better. Explain yourself, explain yourself. Like, I feel like, like, when I eat fruit, I don't feel healthy, but when I eat veg, I feel healthy. Does anyone else feel this? Is it just me?
Starting point is 00:10:56 I feel very healthy when I eat fruit. So do you feel healthy eating like droves and droves of potatoes? Okay, well, okay, come on. Potatoes is like, bro thinks he's invited. So like the vegetables. He is a vegetable, though. He is a vegetable. But he's like a fraud.
Starting point is 00:11:13 The potato is a fraud because it's like all the health benefits are non-existent. Bro is the white guy at the Vigy cookout. Yeah. It's like, we're happy you're here, but something's up. Yeah, he's in the veg, but like, he's kind of a fraud. He doesn't really offer the same health benefits. Are you one of those people who sees like a fruit on a salad and you're like, who the fucking fire bro?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Oh, dude, I hate fruit on salads. Yeah, we talked about this. He doesn't like the fucking orange or like an apples and salad and shit. Because they always burst. I don't want something that bursts. Fuck. I don't want something that busts in my mouth. Is that a hot take?
Starting point is 00:11:54 Why is it so self-conscious? about something busting your mouth. It's just like, you know when they had the cherry tomatoes? Really, man? Fuck. I thought you're an ally, man. I have an ally, man. I thought you're an ally.
Starting point is 00:12:05 What do you want to be busting them out? I just, you know, when you get the cherry tomatoes and like a salad and every, it's just like, you know, you're trying to eat it and every, you're like, oh, every two of bite, you're like, bough, you get like fucking busted. No, I love that shit. Cherry tomatoes are a great. Jerry tomatoes are delicious.
Starting point is 00:12:20 No, I do like them though, but it's just excessive in a salad. No. It's a little... It's a great little accent. It's a little sweet treat, you know? Vegetables are just so much better in every single way than fruit. Is tomatoes a fruit?
Starting point is 00:12:35 That's a fruit. Okay. Yes. Okay. Yes. Okay. Do you like tomatoes? Yeah, no, I do. I mean, I think I like them more in like sauces than I do on their own.
Starting point is 00:12:46 They get a pass if it's the sauce. Yeah, of course. So fruits get a pass if it's a sauce. So you like juice if it's a... So you like juice if it's in dish. Nobody is referring to like a spaghetti fucking sauce as juice. It's liquefied. Tomato juice.
Starting point is 00:13:04 That's essentially what it is. That's essentially what it is. Just viscous juice. No, it's more pulpy. It's different. It's viscous juice. You basically just caramelizing it, basically. Okay, I'm not going to get poured to this.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Oh, it's not cooking. Okay, I'm not gonna get pulled into this trap to make a bad take. Wait, what's your favorite fruit again? Mine? Yeah. I'll tell you what Connor's really saying without actually saying it. But honor is not a vegetable. Can you figure out my outcome?
Starting point is 00:13:32 Okay, I can figure out. I can say what Connor, I can translate what Connor's trying to say. Go on. Right. Connor hates desserts, right? And I like dessert. And any fruit that gives him dessert taste, that's what he hates. That's true though. I mean, I think I don't like it when it tastes too sugary. I'm like, no, I want the health benefits of the vegetable.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Yeah. Like a broccoli is gone to here. It's got everything you need. And it tastes good. Raw broccoli? No, it's like boiled. You got,
Starting point is 00:14:01 you gotta, you gotta roast that or cook it. No, no, I think it's fine, just boiled. No, boiled broccoli's fine.
Starting point is 00:14:07 If you're like pear or some shit. Literally just boiled. Oh, man, that's, that's so flaccid, man. Wait, just boiled broccoli. Just bored broccoli?
Starting point is 00:14:15 Like, and nothing else? Like, no, like chicken or like... Oh, I mean, okay, I mean, I could eat all of the broccoli on its own.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I'd probably be pretty happy. No seasoning, no nothing. No oils and nothing. Maybe a little bit of pepper. Oh my God, that's, oh, bro. Just boil broccoli. Oh. That is a struggle meal, boy.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Yeah. Like, come on, bro. Can you stop being so British? Like, get some seasoning on that shit long. At least, please. One time I was meeting Pete for dinner for a live stream and I ordered like this plate of broccoli and they like warned me and I was like,
Starting point is 00:14:48 why you warning me? It's fucking broccoli. I know how to eat fucking broccoli, bro. Yeah. And it came out and we just a whole head of broccoli. Uncut or anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Just bare. Stem and all. Damn. Yeah. I ate it all. You got the full uncircumcised broccoli. I ate the stem and everything. The whole thing.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Damn. And then I ate like a whole state. Was it just boiled? Yeah, it was just boiled with like a little bit of shaved cheese on it. The fuck. But the cheese honestly didn't. You didn't want it to the broccoli. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:18 It was very bland cheese. It ended up just making it harder to eat. Can I take the cheesy broccoli? Hold the cheese. Yeah. I should have told him, I know better than you. I know what's to cook for Conan down next time he comes real. Yeah, just fucking broccoli.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Just get a whole, like, head of broccoli, put it in... Put in some hot water. You put in some hot water. There you go, man. You're like, bro, it's, it's done. It's a meal, okay? The point being is that it's good, and juice is a scam. Give him a slice of bread with that shit, it'll be so happy.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I just like, when they offer me orange juice, I'm like, don't give that shit. He just don't like oranges, bro. Orange juice actually is the devil. is the devil. Yeah, you just hate citrus, so I'm, uh, no, I'm, uh, that's not true, I like lemonade. This is, yeah, wait, hold up, hold up.
Starting point is 00:16:05 You give the pars to lemonade? No, I, I, I like, Laminate, I like, I like, fucking lemonade. I like, the, like, objectively, least healthy and worst fucking fruit. It's, okay, look, I'm not, I, no, okay, first of all,
Starting point is 00:16:22 nobody's ever been confused. used for lemonade being healthy. I get sick of this juice healthy kind of vibe. It gets put it in the fruit section. It should be in the sodas. So what should take on smoothies then? Oh, smoothies are sad, aren't they? Because the sad reality of the
Starting point is 00:16:37 smoothie is that you want so desperately for it to be fruit. But you've destroyed it and it now no longer resembles. It's closer to the juice that it is to fruit. But it's still fruit. It's just mashed up for it.
Starting point is 00:16:52 It's just smashed up fruit. No, it loses all its health benefits. So, so are you saying the entire smoothie industry is just a scam? 100%. Yeah, of course it is. Do you have any citations? What are your sources? What are your sources for this?
Starting point is 00:17:10 Girl business, true. Mooden fact check. I would like the fact checked for this. I mean, I mean, I do kind of half agree with him in the fact that I do think the smoothie industry is a scam. just because they charge you an abhorrent amount of money for mashed up fruit. I
Starting point is 00:17:28 understand like being scammed for money and stuff like that. Okay. Blending simply breaks down plant cells This is no. Maybe does not destroy the nutritional value of your friend base. Oh no.
Starting point is 00:17:51 I mean, all you're doing is just mashing it up, right? It's, if, if you, you know, juicing, I can understand because you are only getting the liquid form of the juice. Yeah, you don't get any of the fiber and shit, right? You don't get any of the fiber and stuff, but smoothies, smoothies, I feel like you, you're correcting yourself too much in the wrong way as a certified juice hater and, uh, smoothies are getting strays out of that. You think?
Starting point is 00:18:19 I still don't think they should charge you like fucking eight bucks for a smoothie. I agree. They shouldn't charge you that much. But we're not talking about that right now. It doesn't feel right about it. I don't know how to put my finger on a smoothie. Like, because it's liquid.
Starting point is 00:18:32 It's too good. It tastes too good. Okay. Okay. Okay. The problem is that it's too good. Something feels off. And I don't know what it is,
Starting point is 00:18:44 but it feels like a scam. Motherfucker eats a loaf of bread and says, nah, smoothies taste too good. By the way, did you know, bread doesn't give you energy. You know what does, though? A good smoothie. Oh, I'm so sorry for this opening Moudan.
Starting point is 00:19:00 We didn't even fucking intro the episode. Hello, welcome to this episode of Trash Taste. This, uh, Moudan is, uh, possibly going to quit. Do you think you could eat a mouthful of ginger? Yes. Yes. Like just raw ginger. Yes.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Like, you could do it? Yes. I could do it. Would I enjoy it? That's a different thing. Should we get some ginger? You sound so confident. We should get some ginger.
Starting point is 00:19:23 I love ginger. I mean, I used to eat like a lot of those like ginger snacks that they used to have, whereas like a lot of it was like the Japanese ones where it literally just be like cut slices of ginger. Yeah. It's like a little bit of like sugar on top of it. But at the end of it is still just ginger. What's your top tier herb. Start your alienware journey with the streamlined Alienware 15.

Starting point is 00:20:27 Visit alienware.ca slash alienware 15 today. What's the difference between a herb in the sky? I don't say anything. Oh my God. Depends what you define as a herb. Joey's is weak. Joe, I'm talking about ones you ingest for, actually. Depends out.
Starting point is 00:21:01 The ones you cook with, no way. Yeah, depends on feeling. Rosemary. You love rosemary? I like time. Time is good too. Combined together, they're like, like fucking eggs and bacon, then fucking...
Starting point is 00:21:16 Rosemary's great. Rosemary and time. I don't think I can tell the difference between Basil and Origano, because the two of them are mixed together so often that I'm like, it's the combo. That is true. It's a combo for me. That is true. Okay, first of all, I think my British brain is completely broken. Is it, is it?
Starting point is 00:21:33 How do you pronounce? Oregon. How do you say that again? How do I say it? Oregano? Oregono, the American way? Yeah, they say oregano, don't know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:42 We say. Oregon. Oregon. Sorry, I always forget which one I say. Yeah, Oregon. Because, you know, obviously, we don't live in the UK anymore. Yeah. So I don't hear the British word often.
Starting point is 00:21:54 And so my brain gets broken into hearing the American one over and over. Yeah. The Japanese say, Origen, it's weird, isn't it? Yeah. Because I always hear stuff like, you know, when you read recipes online, there is like ground meat, ground meat. In the UK, we say mince meat. Mince meat, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:08 But in Japan, they also say mince meat. Yeah. Which is so weird. I'm like, who did you learn that from? The British. Yeah, who told you that? What are you learning this from? I keep getting my brain is like completely disheveled.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Anyway, you know, oregano. Oregon. Oregon. Oregon. Yeah, I want to say oregano. Oregono is like way more, um, uh, what's the word? Um, you, you can taste like,
Starting point is 00:22:35 oregano way more. It's way more, uh, floral, not floral. What's the word like, for all? What's the word? Blessing that smells really strong, fragrant. Fragrant. Fragrant. It's very fragrant.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Uh, you'll know. Because you only, like, when they're adding basil of pizza, it's like, you know, you can check a whole leaf on there. You can chop it up and it on it. You will taste it. But if you put like a teaspoon of oregano, you're going to fucking, you're going to smell on that shit. I don't know. Maybe it's just because I don't really cook all that much. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:06 So I would probably get used to it more if I was the one actually putting the oregano in. But most of the time, my exposure to oregano was just like already the pre-cooked food, right? So I was just like, and most of the time, you know, oregano or basil or whatever is not like the centerpiece. It's just like a little accent. So half the time you don't even fucking realize it's in there. I mean, it's, it's, it's, uh, most of the times you put herbs in there for, you know, sometimes you just have that extra fragrance.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Yeah, yeah. The little accent, right? The little accent. For sure. I fucking, you know, I, you know, am I in your world famous lasagna? The world famous lasagna. I just, I put so much in. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:23:41 I mean, you can though, because that's like, like a thick dish. Yeah. Yeah. I fucking... With a lot of flavor, right? Yeah. Probably more than is recommended.
Starting point is 00:23:51 That's probably what... That's probably why my lasagna tastes the way they do. But, you know... Like, yeah. What... I guess... Paprico is a spice, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Yes. What is the difference between a herb and the spice? I guess that's... I've never known about this. I should probably know... Spice I've always thought as... Well, then again, you do... I always have thought it was ground stuff,
Starting point is 00:24:14 but then I guess you have stuff like, okay, what is cumin? Because I fucking... I fucking love cumin, man. I do be cumin every day. No, what is cumin? What is cumin? Cuman is a spice.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Cuman is a spice? Yeah. I pronounce it it's cumin. I thought it was cumin too. Yeah. Cuman. Yeah, it's a spice. Spice are seeds and herbs and leaves.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I've always said like, is it a green? It's a herb. Yeah. If it's not green, it's a spice. Okay. Yeah. That's how I've discerned it. In terms of the green, leafy parts of a plant.
Starting point is 00:24:48 There you go. By scisseter derived from other parts of the plant, including roots, stems, seed, bark, flowers, or fruit. I do love paprika, though, I will say. The Hungarian paprika is God too. Because, like, Hungarian paprika, which is used in every Hungarian dish, is way sweeter than regular paprika. And it gives Hungarian food that, like, distinct flavor. Yeah. You can use it in other dishes, and it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Yeah, for me, if cumin is in the dish, it brings it up a notch. I don't know why. You can put that shit on anything. And it tastes better. Is that your favorite spice? That is my favorite spice, I would say. I do be cumin to the coom. Yeah, it does maybe cum.
Starting point is 00:25:26 What is my favorite spice? Wait, is our coffee here? That's my favorite spice. I think we have coffee. Little spice to the day. I need my fucking spice injection. Well, you fucking stayed up playing games again? No, it was just one of those nights.
Starting point is 00:25:40 You know, when you go to bed and you're like, wow. I just am not tired. And then... I feel that. So, you know, it's a dice roll still. Because I sometimes get those nights where I get like four hours of sleep and I'm fucking S-tier energy level the next day.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Yeah. Other days I'll get seven hours. And the next day, waking up is like... Deaths. Like that fucking... Doodoo. You know that fucking reactions? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:04 It's like one of those mornings where you wake up and your eyes physically cannot stay open. Yeah. I don't know why. Why does it happen sometimes? Why is it like... It's quality.
Starting point is 00:26:14 of sleep, isn't it? Yeah, what determines that bullshit, though? What, the quality of sleep? Because I sleep the same shit every day. You sleep the same shit every day. Well, clearly not. Clearly not, because some days you... Maybe because I had... I don't know, I had some... Maybe I had an oily food. I made some Chinese food yesterday.
Starting point is 00:26:33 You made Chinese food? Yeah, so Giri taught me how to make these noodles. Okay. They were actually so fucking good. So I was like, I've got to make this. And I made like a giant batch. actually super fun. I made my own noodles and everything again. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Nice. It doesn't take too long either. It is crazy, though, because when I was following Geary's recipe, I was like, damn, this is the fourth amount of oil I've put in this dish. Yeah. I'm like, damn, when do we stop?
Starting point is 00:27:00 Yeah, yeah. It was a lot, but it's so fucking good, though. It's so good. Was that the night that you got good sleep? No, that was bad sleep night. Last night I made a ton of noodles. Yeah, because I feel like sometimes you just get the oiliness in your stomach.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Maybe it's a hard to sleep, I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, your stomach would turn into like a deep fry. Yeah, because in this dish I had to like heat up, like maybe like 40 milliliters of just hot sesame oil and you pour it in the fucking dish. Damn. It's like, I've just come back from Thailand from beginning of like a month
Starting point is 00:27:33 and my stomach is like a fucking battered war veteran right now. I had like my first Japanese meal and I was, and my stomach was like, oh shit. I do wonder this, right? because Thai people are human. Yeah. What a claim. Their stomach surely can't withstand the battering of spice.
Starting point is 00:27:50 But they can. No, I refuse to believe it. I mean. Or is it like an alternate? You alternate between spicy dishes. Yeah, I mean, we don't have spicy food for every meal. And I don't really count like the little, you know, some people come to Thailand. They have like a dish and they're like, oh, it's a little bit spicy, in it?
Starting point is 00:28:09 And I'm like, that's, that's, that's a little bit. That's pepper. That's a tiny kick, you know, that's just a tiny, that's just a tiny thing. I don't count that. Yeah. We don't have the, oh, my God, I'm struggling with every bite kind of meal, every meal. Mm-hmm. Because when I do, after about like two, three days, your stomach's just like, oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Yeah, after three days of time, I'm like that. Yeah. It does feel heavier. And, you know, there's a lot of more refreshing Thai dishes as well. Thai salad and stuff like that. Yeah. You've been going back and forth a lot. You came back for like two days to do the anime awards.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Yeah. I was the host of the anime. I know. I watched this year. Oh shit. Well done. Oh yeah, you had to watch you. Okay, so yeah, I was supposed to do a sponsor watching it.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Yeah. There was like a miscommunication. I was like, yeah, I can't do that day. So I was stuck in like a temple in the middle of the mountains with Chris. Damn. And like Wakayama. Couldn't find signal there. There was a curfew.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Couldn't find a set up. Yeah, I was like, hey, yo, you mind if I, you mind if I do a little setup? Yeah. By the way, it's 9 p.m., they were like quiet hours. And they were all, everyone was like praying and stuff. So I was like, yeah, I can't even sick. Yeah, yeah, they, 5 a.m. woke us up to do prayers.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Yeah, damn. Anyway, I needless to say, I couldn't do it there. They did have Wi-Fi of that, which I thought was impressive. I didn't expect that from the temple. Anyway, so yeah, I told them I can't. I was like, if you don't mind, I'll react to it the next day. Yeah. And I won't look at anything.
Starting point is 00:29:42 And so I did that and I watched it. And I got to watch Garn, be the host. You're very good. Yeah. I mean, they have, for some reason, asked me to do more and more every year. I signed off like three, four years ago, just doing what you did, just being like,
Starting point is 00:29:57 okay, I'm just reacting to the awards. And then last year, they asked me to present an awards where I had to present solo leveling two separate awards and tried to be as professional as possible, and my face got screencapped. Like, I had to present Sung Jin Wu as the best main character of last year, out of everyone. Best cap. Well, you are a lopper gone and a tourist, so it makes sense. For the tourist awards.
Starting point is 00:30:28 And this year, I had to actually host some of the pre-show. That was cool. I had to introduce Yoko Takahashi. That was said. That's fire. To sing the Evangelion opening. That's fire. Walk us through how it was to host.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Yeah, I mean. Oh, God. I mean, first off, I mean, hosting, it wasn't too bad. It was just, you have like a teleprompter. And I was, I'd say I was kind of like the personality pick for the host to be like, to represent the people, the viewers. Yeah. He's bought a lowly anime watcher.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Like the rest of you. Like, I was there as like, sorry, like, I know there's like the color commentator, but there's like the analytical kind of like commentary as well where they like, I was meant to be like that guy, I think. The problem is when you are part of an official award show, it is so strict on timings that when they say, oh, what's your opinion on this?
Starting point is 00:31:30 You have like two sentences. So you cannot actually say any of like your, Yeah, how are you supposed to get analytical in two sentences? No, you can't, you can't. They're like, so what's your opinion on like, anime of the year? And the most you can get out is like the most bare bones generic. I liked it.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Oh, well, there's a lot of variety in all these different picks, you know. I like this, I like that. And they're like, all right, that's all you got time for. I'm like, fuck, so. But, I mean, it was cool. The awards are this year was, awards aside, it was a great, We got to see Yokutakashi, we got to see Asian Kung Fu Generation.
Starting point is 00:32:10 It's kind of like, damn, all-star performance. I was thinking when I was watching, I was like, how the hell do they top this? It's just pretty star-studded. Yeah, I mean, this was the- Goats. This was the 10-year anniversary. Yeah. Damn, it's already been 10 years.
Starting point is 00:32:24 It's already been 10 years since the very first Quintral Anime Awards show. Yeah, that I got blacklisted from. And I still am. I will say that it was like the, they had a really cool start of the ceremony where they had like a live orchestra there and they basically played the opening theme of like the past like 10 winners
Starting point is 00:32:45 and I was like that it's a really cool coincidence that there's never been a single winner that has won for like two years straight so we got like 10 different openings and I ended with Yuri on Ice and then Joe would know this it ended with Dean Fijioka coming and performing the Yuri on Ice opening live
Starting point is 00:33:04 actually that's kind of fun It was pretty fucking. That opening is fire. Yeah. Unfortunately, you are in a... So unfortunately, you're in like a very uptight, very preppy show. We're full of Japanese men in the anime industry, right? And I felt so bad because there was this one moment where, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:25 I thought it was hyper shit, right? Hearing all the songs and hearing Dean Fiji could perform live. And there was this one moment where he's like, all right, sing it with me, Crunchyroll! complete silence in the audience. Complete fucking silence. And I was just like, yep, yep, this is... I mean, these are some of the quietest people in the world.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Yes, yeah. Animators. Yeah, I'm not going to scream. You are in a room full of animators and directors. Maybe if it was like at the end of the show and the champagne's been flowing a bit, you might get a couple, but there's no shot you're getting at the start of the show. And I felt bad, but I assumed he was talking to the audience live,
Starting point is 00:34:00 watching live. Right, right. But you did not get that energy in the crowd. Right. I say that. I say that until like, this is like, this is the Trump card. This is what breaks every Japanese social norm. Bro, when Yoko Takahashi started performing the Evangelion opening,
Starting point is 00:34:19 I have never seen that room so fucking animated, man. Holy fucking shit. It is the second national anthem. Like, legit. I don't even know the Japanese national anthem. I assume that was it. It's one of the most boring. Yeah, I actually...
Starting point is 00:34:34 I was not heard of... Anyone ever want to say it. Yeah. Yeah. They're just like, now we're fucking talking here, you know? Because I remember when I got asked to introduce her performance, I was like, we've done live shows before. Normally I'm like, not nervous.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And like, I was like, sure, it's whatever. I'll be honest. I, for some reason, I wasn't nervous right up until I kind of like... You had to say it. I had to do it. That's how it always goes. Yeah. because it kind of, what, what kind of,
Starting point is 00:35:05 the moment that hit me was I was walking up to perform and, uh, I saw Yoko Takashi and she had her like, Ava, like her whole like Ava, like, like, Ava, like, dress on. It was like, uh, Ava one themed dress. Uh, maybe, maybe you can pull it up, kind. Uh, and damn, you could feel the fucking aura in person, man. You're like, you're like, you're like, and it kind of hit me. I'm like, shit, I am about to introduce the, the Japanese,
Starting point is 00:35:33 the unofficial. Japanese national anthem. Yeah. The most iconic anime song to like the entire anime industry behind me. Ever, I would argue. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:41 I'm like, yeah, I cannot fuck this up. On top of that as well, Ava is just a very, very important show to me as well. Yeah, for sure. You nailed it. Yeah, that's good. I really, really wanted to nail it.
Starting point is 00:35:53 You can... You hyped it up, like the amount of deserved. Yeah. I will say, you could see, I think you can see how nervous I was because you look at my face and I look like a deer, in headlamps.
Starting point is 00:36:04 I need headlights, sorry. No, I think you're right. Dude, that dress is so fire. Yeah, that dress is fucking fire. I think that was like, you looked very natural when you did that part. Yeah. It's hard during the interviews and stuff
Starting point is 00:36:15 because, you know, sometimes you, you know, you're getting prompted from a million and one ways and having a conversation that you don't really want to have. Yeah. And you have, you have like the earpiece. Oh, they did an earpiece for you?
Starting point is 00:36:25 Yeah, you have an earpiece which tells you, okay, wrap it up. Okay, 10 seconds left and you have to like keep a conversation flowing while you have like directors and producers is shouting you're out. Sometimes they chirp up too much. But, you know, also as well, you can kind of,
Starting point is 00:36:39 you can kind of be like, hey, here's my preference. Yeah. Please don't. Yeah. Please shut up. I did one. I remember which one I did. There was one where I had someone in my ear who literally was just telling me like,
Starting point is 00:36:50 great job, Connor. Yeah, that's great question. I like, yeah. Okay. You've got to stop. It's like the ghost of Christ when I'm like busting in someone. It's like doing great, man. What?
Starting point is 00:37:02 Okay. Stop. Stop. You got a wingman in your ear. I was like, hey, I appreciate it. The enthusiasm's great. I just need to do the solo. Yeah, because you also did the red carpet
Starting point is 00:37:14 on the stream awards as well, right? Yeah, they mainly gave me Q cards, which I preferred. They had like a guy that was like very animated. How strict were they on timing at the stream awards? Pretty straight, but they would have to stall a lot. That was like the...
Starting point is 00:37:28 Stalling's maybe worse. Because when you're over, it's like, oh, my God, this fucking, this. Yeah, yeah. But when you have to stall, it's like, God, I hope the person I'm talking to gives me something to work with. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes people don't give you much to work with. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:43 You know, or people are like, like, you know, not everyone, there's a lot of people who are extremely talented at what they do, but they don't really want to talk about it. You know, like, yeah, I just make the music. And it's like, if I, if you could talk about it the way I would love for you to, it'd be really interesting. Yeah. Starting point is 00:39:09 Yeah, or they would, it was either in the ear Depends on the show in ear Or they would have like card saying like five minutes. Oh, okay, okay. I'd be like five minutes. Five minutes is a long time when you're live And you know you can't look at the camera much Because you're not supposed to be talking to the camera
Starting point is 00:39:24 You're talking to the person you're interviewing So it's quite tough. And then it's hard. I'm sure you probably realize as well like, what do you do with yourself during interviews? Like, it's the hands. It is the hands, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:37 I kind of realized looking at myself back, I was like, okay, maybe I'm moving a little bit too much because we had, we had rehearsals, and, you know, I had to look at the rehearsals, and I'm like, oh, I look dead, you know? I did the fucking gart on trash taste, like, a thousand yards there, and I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:56 And I'm like, okay, now I need to, like, be a little bit more animated. Sure. And then I think I was a little bit too animated at some points. And it's a fine balance when you are not the center of attention, but you don't want to be so like invisible that you become visible again. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Moving and the right amount of moving is like hard to do. Yeah. I remember the big thing a lot of people do is they pace a little bit. They're like step back, step forward. You know what I mean? They kind of like lean and stop leaning a lot. Because they just don't know what to do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:27 And I, if you can consciously cut that out. Just try and stay a little bit still. Maybe move your hands a little bit. Yeah, we, we had very strict cues about where we had to stand. So at that beginning, I was kind of like pacing around, moving a little bit. And then they were like, no, stop, stop. I think what made me even more nervous about the introducing Yoko Takashi was because I was like, I needed to stand still. Because if we're going to like zoom in and punch them.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Yeah, they like kind of like zoomed in. And so I was like, okay, whatever you do, do not move at all. And when you have like all that adrenaline, like just coursing through your body, I'm used on like the trash taste show, just like using that. Running around. And like running around and giving more energy and putting that to the audience. So you couldn't see it. But on the top half, I was just like, all right, locked in.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Okay, I'm reading this and I'm going to hype this audience up. Luckily, you didn't get my bottom half because my knees just started going. It was just like, it was just like this. I was just like wobbling like this. And my top half, top half like this. Shit. Top half was like this. I was like, yeah, you can't see shit.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Okay. Well, on half, I was like, oh, okay, wait, why am I doing this? This has never happened before. And yeah, I think it's because I had so much adrenaline, but I could not move or even like disperse it in any way. But yeah, it was, it was very, very fun. I'm glad that Songjin Wu didn't win best main character again.
Starting point is 00:41:52 My hero won anime of the year, you saw. Yeah, I think, I didn't see, because I think, It's uh... Mau Mau, uh, Mao won best main character. My mom was very, very, very, okay, yes, that's fine. Everyone best drama beating Orb. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:09 You know, you know what, if there was a show that beat Orb, because, uh, I would give it to Apothegary Diaries. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, uh, and yeah, that was the anime awards. Nice. This year. Well done, mate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:24 So you're in a temple, we're just filming, filming something with Chris? Yeah, we're doing a wacky weekend. We just got on Wakayama and there was a, there's a couple of, um, like, Buddhist temples you can just stay in. And some of them are like really bougie as well. Oh.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Yeah, but this one was just like a standard one. It was very nice. Yeah. Um, you did all the training and chill like that? No, no, no. God no. God no. Yeah, good. I did it and it sucked.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Oh, no. Yeah. Oh, no. Wow. Wow. How long do you do it for one day? One day. It was like, honestly, though, it was, it was, so we got there really late and it was like a Rio Can meal. You know, real can meals are really hit and miss, you know, I'd say like, if you're traveling to Japan the first time, at least in my opinion, I really do feel like the Rio Can meal is like one of the biggest variations of a good and bad Rio Can. It's so easy to get like a very meh Rio Can meal. Like a lot of them do very standard ones where, you know, a, A lot of the dishes are just kind of standard fish stuff.
Starting point is 00:43:30 But if you haven't experienced before, it's really cool. But if you've been in for a while, you can really tell when they've like really put a lot of thought into it. Anyway, this, because it's Buddhist, it's all vegetarian. And I was like, I well, I don't need meat. But it was like surprisingly, maybe like top three Ryokan meals I've ever had. Was it a Yor Khan meal or like a like a Shorjin meal?
Starting point is 00:43:49 Like a proper like Buddhist like monk food. It was all monk food. It was like Shorjinns. Chorjin, yeah. But it was like akin to like a Rio Can meal. Oh, okay. fucking courses of vegetables. And there's one thing where I was like,
Starting point is 00:44:02 I don't think this is Buddhist. I was eating it. I was like pretty sure this is like beef. And the guy can move was like, oh no, that's like the tofu from this area apparently is used quite often in meat substitutes. It's really good.
Starting point is 00:44:12 So yeah, highly recommend going to Buddhist temple if you had a great meal. Fucking banging. Shoggi meal actually does taste really fucking good. Really, really good. I was kind of shocked. But yeah, I just did that.
Starting point is 00:44:23 And yeah, then I've been playing video games. Love video games? Sounds good. The dichotomy. A lot of video games. Yeah, you've been going through all the Castlevania games, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Yeah, I've been playing California. I want to make a video where I play every single one. Why Castlevania? Because it's a goaded series. So, obviously, hanging around Pete a lot, you hear a lot about games, and he always talks about Symphony of the Night.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Is, you know, I would get too much into it because I don't want to bore everyone to death. But it's basically like the, I guess the, I don't know, not the originator, but certainly the thing that made Metroidvania's popular
Starting point is 00:45:00 as a format. Well, I put the vanyer in Metroidvania. Yeah, we have put the veneer in it. So I guess, I think it's fair to say that it kind of did kind of solidify the genre. Anyway, Peter told me all about the music in this game. Yeah. You know, and I'm like, ah, music.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Beeps and boops, whatever. But the vinyl went on sale and I was like, I'll just buy it. Sure. I mean, I'll probably end up getting into the franchise at some point, so it would be cool to have this disc. And even if I don't listen to it, I'm sure the music's great.
Starting point is 00:45:27 But then I listened to this, this vinyl. I put it on. And I was like, hold up. Every single fucking track is a banger. What the fuck is this? Hell yeah. You know, it's like two discs. And I flip it over to the B side.
Starting point is 00:45:38 And I'm like, oh, fuck, it's even better. What the fuck is this game? And I listen to the third. I'm like, Jesus Christ, this music is exceptional. Yeah. I'm like, I got to play this game. So I was like, fuck it. I'll play the original Castlevania games.
Starting point is 00:45:52 The 1986, N-E-S. Castlevania 1 where it all started until Symphony of the night so I played it surprisingly the early game like Castlevania 1 holds up pretty well
Starting point is 00:46:06 it's hard a shit it's hard it's hard because it does that thing that old games do where when you die you like fully reset you like three credits
Starting point is 00:46:17 yeah but yeah it's quite good and you can beat it in like three hours but the thing about this game that I think infuriated me and I'm sure it did for you is just the fucking knockback. Oh, dude, the knockbacks are horrific. The knockbacks are so unfair in this game.
Starting point is 00:46:31 There's so many gaps and stairs where if you get knock back, you just fall down. And anything knocks you back. Yeah. It's kind of bullshit. But yeah, really fun and quite challenging. And then Castlevania 2 is like the worst game of all time. Which I didn't, people, when I was playing it, people kept telling me they're like, this is what started angry video game nerd.
Starting point is 00:46:48 Yeah. First episode of Angry Video Game Nerd was Castlevania 2. It's that bad. It is pretty bad, but unfortunately it has like the most. iconic track from any Castlevania game in it which I think it introduces
Starting point is 00:46:59 the main theme Yeah Oh yeah It is unfortunate that the music in this game is so good because the rest of the games But what was crazy is that like every single game
Starting point is 00:47:09 had like 10 out of 10 music Right And I was like I don't really care about music But it's kind of hard to ignore how good this is playing in the background It's like you're dying and frustrated But you're hearing like the most godlike riffs of your life
Starting point is 00:47:21 And so again I was just mainly playing it To get into Symphony of the Night because I wanted to play all these games before. It's kind of understand a bit of the genre. So I felt like, I don't know, kind of felt like a bit of a fraud if I just go straight into, you know. The end of the night.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Yeah. Well, even though it wouldn't really matter, I just like kind of understanding the games a bit more. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Understanding the legacy of everything. Yeah, yeah. And then I played, because then it starts getting weird. Because I don't know if you know,
Starting point is 00:47:45 but there is, there's a lot of Castlevania games. A lot of spin-offs. Yeah, but yeah, and a lot of them are weird. There's like Kid Dracula and stuff like this, which Pete, which Pete swears and, is good, but I just can't bring myself to play a game called Kid Dracula. I've only, I've played quite a few Castlevania games, but I think I've only ever
Starting point is 00:48:04 tackled maybe like five or six of them. And they're all usually like considered the best ones. Yeah, I mean, so like Simvia of the Night, Castlevania 1, Castlevania 4, RF Saur. How many there are? Yeah, I don't know half these games. But it's also confusing because there are some like re-releases like Castlevania Dracula X. is a re-release of Rondo of Blood, but it's because Rondo of Blood came out on like the fucking 64 DC Drive, whatever the fucking was cool, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:48:34 Like the disc drive? Yeah, these weird consoles that like really had no business but had some really cool games on them. Yeah. And then, you know, when I got, finally I played six games, all really interesting in their own right. They all watching this like kind of evolution happen
Starting point is 00:48:53 was really, really, like, fun as like a video. game enjoyer. And then I got to Symphony Night, played that. And then afterwards, I was like, you know what? Fuck it, I may as well just play all of them. But then I was like, I'll just play all the main console releases. And so I started going through all the main console releases. And then I was like, well, I've come this far.
Starting point is 00:49:13 I may as well play the rest of the game. It's just like five more games. So I think in total I need to play about 16 games. How far are you through? I've just finished game 10. Oh, my God. six more games to do. Thankfully, the early games are not too long.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Yeah, unfortunately, the ones I have left to do are all like 10-hour games. Oh, sure. But, yeah, the only ones are really short. Like, I did the first three and one stream. Yeah. And then the other ones too. But the music in this franchise is so fucking good.
Starting point is 00:49:42 And it's also really interesting because this franchise, just not to, again, bore everyone to death, but it basically after Symphony The Night, they have this game that, you know, the time didn't. do that well. Despite being a cult classic, actually just didn't sell that well. Maybe because
Starting point is 00:49:58 it's an odd game. I imagine at the time it's like, how the fuck do you advertise this to like American audience specifically? Yeah. It's kind of unusual. It doesn't really follow the Castlevania franchise in any normal way. The art has changed. The gameplay is completely different. It's all very odd. So I, you know, then they then they kind of got to the N64 era and they were like, okay, well, we're going to make two Castlevania games at the same time every every time. All right. We're going to make one 3D version. It's going to be the main. release and then we'll hand the the traditional metroredvania formula to the other team who's going to make them on
Starting point is 00:50:32 DS and Game Boy. And basically the main console entries just kind of flounder. They kind of try it in 3D but it's very difficult to make 3D games that are good. Yeah, I played a little bit of Castlevania 64 when I was like yeah they really had it it was not good. But that's also I think partially the Nintendo 64's fault yeah but just being a kind of a shit console that's kind of hard to make anything for that game. Well, I disagree. I think, I think it's just they took, I think the same thing happened when they tried to make
Starting point is 00:51:01 like Sonic 3D, you know, like the core gameplay just doesn't quite work in 3D in the same way that it does for 2D because the mean, that too, you know, the main, you know, drive of the Castlevania games was the whole like 2D exploration aspect, which made it work so well with like the platforming aspects. So when you turn that into 3D, it kind of just like, yeah, it kind of just dampens the whole experience. Yeah. And also the graphics in Calcivania 64 are not exactly a scary or Gothic in any ways either. So it also takes you out of the world as well, in my opinion anyway. Yeah. So I've been basically doing that. That's been a big chunk. Damn. Well, good luck with the rest of those.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Yeah, I'll finish it. It's going to be a ridiculously long video when it's out. Yeah. I don't know when. It'll probably be like six hours. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck, Moodon. Yeah. Moodon's like, what? It's like, this is the first time I'm hearing it. No, he knows, he knows. We've had like, bunch of meetings about making the stupid video. And he's like, are you sure? Are you sure this is gonna happen? I just think like, fuck it, why not, man? He was like, I really wish you would pick us
Starting point is 00:52:03 a quicker franchise. Smaller franchise, possibly. Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous playing 16 games for one video. But I also think it's really fucking cool. Yeah. Because then like, you know, if someone wants to learn about Castlevania or like just see all the games,
Starting point is 00:52:15 it's like, there will literally be a video now where it's every single fucking main game. Yeah. Because there's a bunch of spin-offs, but basically I don't, be playing every main entry that is like a story relevant. But there are a couple of ones. I mean, who knows?
Starting point is 00:52:27 There might be a new one by the, before you finish it as well. There is a new one coming out. Oh, there is? Oh, yeah. So basically, after like 2005 or six, they basically stopped making it.
Starting point is 00:52:40 And they handed off Castlevania to like outside studios. Yeah. But none of them, you know, really, I mean, they had Lords of Shadows, which was quite successful, I believe. But none of them really like, replaced Castlevania anyway. And now the big push
Starting point is 00:52:57 for this new game coming out in October is that it's gonna be like a return to form. Right. But it's developed by the studio that made Dead cells. Oh, yeah. I know dead cells, yeah. It should be pretty good. Yeah. That's kind of similar formula, but it looks really good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:13 So I'm optimistic. But for me, I mean, weirdly enough, my favorite part is still the music though. Oh, yeah. It's so good. But I think Also, I was always interested because the anime was maybe one of my favorite animas. Oh, is it an anime? It's a fucking anime, car.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Is it an anime? Is it a real anime? Yes, it's a real anime god. Is it a real anime con us? It's in a goddamn anime. It's animated. It's an anime, Joey. But I also finished the Eldon Ring DLC as well. Dude, can I say, my God, you're kind of nasty.
Starting point is 00:53:51 You're kind of nasty Did you see him beat this fun? No He's kind of nasty His pairing was kind of disgusting Look, it's simple I was genuinely impressed It's simple
Starting point is 00:54:01 You just gotta die enough I wanted to know How long it took you Because you played it as well right And I was like losing my mind On like the last boss How many times did you die Roughly
Starting point is 00:54:13 You did like 300 times I was like How many deaths did this take I honestly thought it would be more Right Because I thought like... Millenial is more, which was the, like, big final boss
Starting point is 00:54:24 of the original album. It was... Yeah, I just don't have the patience. I was turned on. And I saw that last hour. I was like, damn. And then all the comments were like, damn, Gant's more of a game than Conn.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. One achievement against many. I mean, come on. Yeah, it got a flimsy title. You know, even though, even though it was fun and satisfied to complete it, I didn't feel as satisfied as when I finished the like base game
Starting point is 00:54:50 Eldon Ring and beating Melania for the first time. So, to clarify, just the viewers didn't catch it. Gaunt basically parried Radarne's consort to death, and it was pretty fucking sick. Which is the final boss of the Eldon Ring DLC. And I don't know, I just, I really wanted to like him as much as a boss battle, but he just, it felt like, it got me thinking about why some boss battles are more fun than others. because with like millennia, you know, I died more than that, but I felt like gratifying, felt fun the entire time. Sometimes like playing against Radan and that final boss battle,
Starting point is 00:55:30 I don't know if you felt this as well. I don't know, some of them were, I was just like, damn, this just feels like bullshit. I don't know why it feels like bullshit, but it just feels like bullshit. I think for me it was, it's, there's a, there's a, the first phase is like decently fair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:43 And then the second phase, when he starts doing the light fucking attacks where they start zooming. I was like, I think for me it was the visual clarity was really messy. Like, I cannot see what is actually happening. Like, I don't know what the fuck I'm just to be dodging. Yeah. Which is the only time I ever get frustrated in the, in Eldon Ring or any of these games is when like, I don't mind if he does some bullshit like, oh, you know, like hit. Or he does some like really fast attack or even does like eight successive attacks that I can dodge.
Starting point is 00:56:10 I don't mind that. It's like when I can't see it. Yeah. Which makes the like the window of which I need to dodge. dodge really confusing. It's like, I don't know when I'm supposed to dodge this. Yeah. That is always really frustrating because it feels like they are relying on me having to
Starting point is 00:56:25 just bash my head against the wall until I figure out this arbitrary timing that isn't visually explained. Yeah. That's when I get annoyed. And I felt like the second phase did that a lot. Yeah. I think the, because like what, I think what gives me like satisfaction and why I love parrying is I love this feeling of like mastery.
Starting point is 00:56:42 I love the feeling of like mastering a boss that even if I don't, do it in the run, in theory, I figure out the boss so I could do like a no hits, like, in theory, whether I'm able to do in practice is something different. But with like Redan's second phase, there were like so many attacks where I still finished it in the end. I still figured out a way to like mitigate it, but I still never had that true feeling of like, I've 100% figured you out. I think the like attack I hated the most was like the ones where he'd do like the fucking shadow clone. Yeah. That's the one, the light one.
Starting point is 00:57:18 The fucking, doom, doom, zoom. That fucking attack is bullshit. I can't see. I don't know what the fuck is happening. I tried so many variations of so many different tactics to try and, like, dodge the attack. Yeah. And it just, I think the biggest thing that I hated was it felt inconsistent.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Yes, yeah. Right? Yeah. That was like the one that also the only attack that annoyed me occasionally in the first phase is that he would do this giant attack where he would hit up a bunch of boulders and then he would bring them down. You're supposed to run. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Right? You're not supposed to roll. You should just run. Yeah. But sometimes you just wouldn't run enough. And you would still get clipped by one of them. Yeah. This is so fucking bullshit.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Yeah. Like the window should not be that, like, tight. Yeah. And so I feel like with Millennia, it's like actually like, if you do the like forward, backward pattern with the fucking flurry perfectly, you do always dodge it. Oh, no. Yeah. I've, I've figured out how to dodge that attack perfectly.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Yeah, right? And yeah, it's, I don't know. Maybe this is the start of like a Souls gamer where you're just like, where I'm like, Why was this less satisfying than other boss battles? Because I think my favorite boss out of the DLC was the fucking spear guy. Mesma? Mesma? Mesma was so cool.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Because he was tough, but he felt like, I don't know. I can't put my finger on why. I can't analyze why, but Mesmer felt fair, but hard. Hard but fair, sorry. Where Radan was hard and I figured him out of the end, but I did. feel that same kind of like satisfaction out of it. Yeah, Messma, that was really cool. Did you like the DLC overall, though?
Starting point is 00:58:54 I like the DLC overall. I think the map of the DLC is better than the base Eldon Ring. I mean, it's a lot more condensed. It's awesome. I love that because they basically just put Dark Souls One Map Theory into Eldon Ring, which was instead of making all these vast open areas, have every area feed into the other area, which I thought was really, really smart. Yeah, I really really liked it as well.
Starting point is 00:59:16 And there's a much more condensed kind of experience where it just felt I ran into things a lot more often. Yeah. And I don't know. I do think this isn't going to be my last souls games that I play. No, how wow. I do enjoy the process of just trial and error when it comes to, like, different bosses. It was very, very satisfying. What's crazy is that it should have really just been Eldon Ring 2.
Starting point is 00:59:43 I can't believe it's DLC. It's as long as the base game. It's not as long as the base game, but it is about, it could be about as long as like a normal game. Because the base game was pretty fucking long. I guess it depends how much you wanted to do side. Did you do the dragon boss? Yes.
Starting point is 01:00:00 That fucking fight was sick. I fucking love that fight. That was such a sick fight as well. Yeah. There's this fight where you have to fight this dragon, but it's a side boss. We have to scale this mountain to fight him. And it's just so fucking epic.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Like going up this mountain. while it's like storming. It's so sick. Yeah. It's very fun. Yeah. But, uh, I mean, there's a lot of exciting game, um, announcements out right now. Oh my God. Every single game ever just got announced this week. What the fuck? Why? Yeah. Why did every fucking studio do this? Yeah. Could we not have paced this shit out a little bit? I'm overwhelmed. I'm like, wait, hold up now. What am I play? I mean, there's only one in my mind. Joey.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Totally. I remember like, what was it? Like a few weeks ago, it fell a few weeks. So probably a months ago where you're like, there's, there's no way they're making a persona six. We finally got a baby. And it's green. It's happening. It's green. The color scheme is green because of course. Is it just going to be like Ghostbusters persona?
Starting point is 01:00:58 I have no fucking idea, but I'm so excited. And P4R as well, finally got a release date as well. And it looks so good. Yeah. God, I'm so excited. Fuck. Why do you have a chair that again? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:01:10 Yeah, I was going to ask. No. I'll know who that is. It came from somewhere. Got the trash taste Cuck chair Take a seat, everyone Yeah, I mean
Starting point is 01:01:21 There's so much persona got announced, obviously Yeah Where do we even begin? I mean, there was like summer game fest Xbox had their thing Yeah, there's a Nintendo Direct tomorrow Yeah, set of play
Starting point is 01:01:31 Today, I think No, tomorrow Oh wow, yeah, tomorrow night. Have you did hear the news about Was it stranger than Stranger than fiction? Is that the one?
Starting point is 01:01:41 Yeah. No. What is that? It's the new yakuza game. What's it called again? I'm the Snoop Dog. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They released that a while ago, though, all right? No, no, no. Did you hear about who just got announced? Stranger Than Heaven, that's the one.
Starting point is 01:01:54 Yeah. Stranger Than Heaven. Did you hear about the newest cast member they just announced? Oh, God, who? It's a two-pack. Okay, everyone made fun of me, by the way, because I kept calling him two-pack. Spotify, it's Jay Shetty. Are you one of those media strategy people? Scrolling through spreadsheets, searching for an audience that pays twice as much attention to your ads than they do on social, let me introduce you to fans. And they're here with me on Spotify. Trust me, I know fans. They don't skip, they stay for hours.
Starting point is 01:02:27 They don't move on, they manifest. They're not a demographic group. They're fans. Spotify advertising. You're among fans. It's Tupac. Tupac. Sorry, sorry.
Starting point is 01:02:39 But I'm British. Wait, how, wait. Yes. Wait, what? Tupac is in Yakuza? Yes. Hold on, I have to see this. How, okay.
Starting point is 01:02:51 How did you not see this? I did not see this at all. I mean, because I knew like Snoop Dog and like Otto was going to be in this game as well. Dean Fijioka's in this game. How the fuck are they going to get Tupac in this game? Are they going to like fucking AI his voice? I really hope.
Starting point is 01:03:07 I don't. I really hope no. That's probably a lot of people are. God. But, yeah, I knew nothing about this game. Like going into this, I didn't know it was like a Yakuza prequel. Yeah. Because I haven't played any Yakuza game before.
Starting point is 01:03:24 It's so weird to see Snoop Dogg's name. It's so weird. Oh, all Skarkio is in this as well, fire. It's, God, that is a fucking stellar cast they've got. Yeah. And then to top it off. I'm not. Ain't no fucking...
Starting point is 01:03:49 Why? What's next? Biggie Smalls? Yeah, that's what I'll say. What the fuck? Okay, I have a question. Oh my God. How long does someone have to be dead? How?
Starting point is 01:04:04 Before like, you know, because if you put, like, Stalin in this, I think everyone would be like, whatever. whatever. Yeah. Right? Yeah. I can't trust anyone who's dead as long as Stalin. I just just,
Starting point is 01:04:16 you know what I mean? Like I'm talking about like a public figure. Yeah. You know, like would it, you know, like, where is the time of which they are kind of seen as in like the public domain and like using their image and in stories is fine? Like, we're genuinely. Like, because I was thinking about this and people were getting upset about,
Starting point is 01:04:35 you know, they had to ask the family if it was okay to use his image and stuff. And when we talked about this in another episode about Michael Jackson and stuff, I was like, at what point are they like just allowed to just, you know, is it fair game? I don't. I mean, two bucks's been dead for quite a while.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Right, but I wonder like, how, is it another 10 years? And then it's like, well, he's probably, I feel like 10 years is like too soon. How long does copyright last for? Oh, like 70 years. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:02 It used to be like half of that. Well, it's like. Right. Because like people who, you know, there's a lot of discussion about this. and is it good that he's in it or whatever. And they're like, well, the estate has given his, the approval, but then it's like also the estate is owned not by his family.
Starting point is 01:05:18 It's owned by someone else who might not have their best interest in hearts. But at the same point, I feel like they are a public figure, you know. I mean, it's, you know, when you are in pieces of media like this, it's always, it's always going to be a characterization of you. Right, right. You are kind of like turning a real, figure into a character. You know, it looked like when, when, you know,
Starting point is 01:05:44 Hitler is in a World War II game or whatever, that is a characterization of this real life historical person. Yeah. When some person is a servant in fate or something, that's definitely a fucking characterization of a historical figure. But when Tupac's in Japan. But like, sure, sure, I don't know when it becomes
Starting point is 01:06:08 fair game. Like it's just kind of interesting. I don't know. I thought like, because I saw a lot of discussion about it. And I just wondered at what point is it. I guess it's a case by case scenario, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:19 Of like whether the, you know, the people who give the permission and the final yes at the end of the day are cool with it or not. But like in this case, it's kind of interesting because it's like,
Starting point is 01:06:29 you know, who gets to give that say because the people who own quote unquote the estate is different from family. And you know, I probably argue it's more important to ask the family
Starting point is 01:06:39 than who owns the rights to their image. But also, maybe I'm crazy. I just don't think you should be able to own someone's image after they die. I don't think you should either. Weird to me that someone could control that. I mean, I get it for the sake of like, preserving their legacy.
Starting point is 01:06:56 But bitch, you're dead. Who needs a fucking legacy, you know? You already have a legacy. Oh, my lord. Yeah. It's like, get over it. But like, would, but this is awful, like, celebrities that I guess are in the,
Starting point is 01:07:08 entertainment industry. Right. Yeah, yeah. What if there was, let's say, what if someone wanted to put like, you could put Churchill in this? Yeah. To me, to me, like, I hear Churchill and that's like a historical figure, right? And because, yeah, because like he died before you were born, maybe? Yeah, yeah. No, he didn't. Wait, yeah, he did. Yeah, but, but let's say, what, what about maybe like, I don't know, Saddam Hussein or something like that or Osama bin Laden as like a, why is that Funny. Legitimate question. Just like, imagine the reveal. Osama bin Laden walks through the wall.
Starting point is 01:07:41 We've got Snoop Dogg. Holy shit. I know, Tupac. Osama. The point I'm trying to make. The point I'm trying to make. Because like, Tupac is a figure that people know and like them. He's an entertainment figure. Yeah, but it's just a figure, right? Versus other historical figures.
Starting point is 01:08:00 Yeah. I wouldn't be like, if you had told me like, hey, I'm making a game, we, asked the Osama State, they're cool with it. Yeah, you did what? You asked the Osama State to put him in your rogue indie-like card deck builder? Actually, I've got the answer. Okay, okay, okay. Here's the actual answer.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Is there, can you be sued for it? That is probably the real answer. That's probably the real answer. If the answer is no, yeah, there's probably free game, right? Yeah, that's true. That's probably the actual answer. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:40 I just don't know. Probably, probably right. Yeah, probably people who still have vested interests and valuing them. I guess because, like, his music still makes money. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Probably, that's probably the part I'm forgetting here.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Yeah. It's so fucking weird, though. I mean, it's like, oh, my God. It's like Michael Jackson turns up in, you know, a new AAA game or whatever, you know. Yeah, we probably have to ask, because you probably want to use it. music, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:07 But I guess, I wonder, what if you're not using? It's weird, isn't it? I wonder if they're going to use any of Tupac's music in this game. Like, during the boss fight, where you have to like, it's like, it's like, Tupac's a boss and then like fucking California dream and comes off. Obviously, because copyright's so fucking dumb. Is it like the moment it's in the copyright public domain, is it just fair game? Like, if, if this was made 50 years later and, you know, you can use Tupac's music, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:33 Is that fair game to put them in? Like, I don't know. It's like weird. Like, I do think this is a discussion. I just want to know what context he's going to be used in. It's also, yeah, it's just an interesting choice. I mean, Tupac is also an interesting case study as well because his image has been used in various ways. Like, you know, when he had a cameos in Coachella with, do you remember that where he had a hologram?
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yeah, the hologram concerts. Yeah. Yeah. I guess it makes sense because Snoop and Tupac were very, very close. Like, they not only worked together a lot, but they were just like. like friends, obviously, you know, both being from West Side and stuff like that. But yeah, I just don't know in, in this particular game, because I don't, because all I know about this game is that it's like, yeah, like a prequel to the Yakuza games, right?
Starting point is 01:10:17 So obviously it's going to be set in Japan. And I was already kind of like raising an eyebrow with Snoop Dogg's edition. I'm like, how the fuck is he related to the Yakuza story in any way whatsoever? Yeah, I don't know. I'm not if anything this just makes me want to play the game now it's like I don't even give a fuck about the story I just want to know how they're gonna use two Park and snoop Nah, the marketing is on point I call interesting discussion Yeah, yeah, um
Starting point is 01:10:48 Definitely food for Thor with this one. Yeah, a lot of lot of other games is it only on Xbox? Oh no PS5 is on yeah, thank God Halo They're re-did you see they're remaking halo? They are really the first? So yeah, they're remaking halo Combat Evolved again the second remake of that game but this one is a ground-up like completely new game of a remake of a remake
Starting point is 01:11:13 right and there's no split screen and no multiplayer so it's nothing like the first game but it looks like it looks pretty good I mean obviously they've gone all that are you just saying that as a hardcore like Halo fan or is actually good
Starting point is 01:11:28 I mean I want more Halo so I'm kind of okay with it but I've been playing a game recently. What are you like? Mena the Hollow. Oh yeah, yeah, the
Starting point is 01:11:39 Yacht Club games. The New York Club games. What is that? Do you know Shovel Night? Yes. So same studio that made Shovel Night spent like the past like, I think it's like six years making this game
Starting point is 01:11:51 and it just got released and it's already like the highest rated game of this year. And it's essentially and I know a lot of people are going to hate this comparison. It's like if you took Link's Awakening and turned it into Bloodbourne. So it looks like and plays like a Link's Awakening game where it's like top down 2D, you know, adventure action game.
Starting point is 01:12:13 But the system of like how to like level up and get stronger is very, very like souls like and Bloodmore like. And it is hard as shit. Really hard, but it is one of the most soul games I've played this year. And I think if you especially love like your soul's time, type games. It's like, this is the closest we're probably going to get to like a 2D Souls game. Right. It's fucking fantastic. And, you know, if you've played shovel night, then you know, like, your club games are like so good with like their little details and like stories and stuff
Starting point is 01:12:45 like that. So yeah, definitely recommend. Especially since you're going through your Castlevania phase right now, you would fuck with it. Yeah, I did see this game. I saw a lot of people talking about it. Yeah. But, uh, yeah. After, after you finish your 10 Castlevania games, you should give this one again. Maybe. I do want to do the, the, the, the, I'll at some point. Yeah. Every Zelda? But maybe not every Zelda.
Starting point is 01:13:06 There's quite a lot of Zelda. But they're pretty long as well versus the Castlevania games. Yeah. Yeah, I kind of like games I can beat in one stream. Yeah. I might do DMC next.
Starting point is 01:13:15 Oh, yeah. Never played DMC. Really? No. I've never played D&D in Devon McReyer either. I've played one. You'll go through all of the classics. The classics.
Starting point is 01:13:23 The Netflix animated TV. Oh, true. Yeah, I guess. Yeah. Sure. Yeah, I don't know. It looks fun. But I got to see if I end up
Starting point is 01:13:32 doing it or not. Yeah, I don't know why. I really had the hankering to replay the Mega Man X games. Oh, fire. I don't know, because I remember them. Have you ever played them? Yeah. Were they hard or were they would, were they only hard because you were a kid? They're hard, but they, I would say they're easier than the original Mega Man games. Yeah, the original, especially like first four are really, really hard. N-S games are always very hard though, because they didn't have much. But X, I remember,
Starting point is 01:14:02 I think X2 I had a lot of difficulty with. Like that game gets pretty fucking hard near the end. Yeah, X, X2, I remember that was the one when I was a kid, I couldn't complete it. Yeah, yeah. But it's goat-like games, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Especially, the first X, Mega Man X is so, the music is so fucking good.
Starting point is 01:14:18 You want to talk about good music? Yeah. Mega Man games, bro. Yeah, Mega Man games, I know the music's games. Yeah. I've played this game that you might like God called Stalker. You've heard this game? Nope.
Starting point is 01:14:28 Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. Pretty good. It was like... Oh, I've heard the name. name. Yeah, it was pretty cool. You're like a mercenary in like the aftermath of Chernobyl and you're kind of like
Starting point is 01:14:39 wandering around Chernobyl Is it a horror game? No, kind of. I mean it's... It kind of gives Resident Evil vibes. It's kind of like have you ever seen Tarkov? Like that kind of game? It's like a very slow methodical you move around buildings very slowly because it's like one tap
Starting point is 01:14:58 and you die. Right. So it's like you're kind of walking around, like, looting places, stouthing, but it's kind of hard to, there's, that's a high cortisol game. There's a really, yeah, it is a high cortisol game. And there's a really cool story about Chernobyl and stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:14 Really interesting. Are there zombies in that? Or like, I mean, that thing on the right there looks pretty hard. There's like, yeah, there's like, it's different. There's like loads of different factions and it's kind of like fall out
Starting point is 01:15:25 in the sense that you can kind of work for whichever group you kind of fancy. Yeah. And you kind of progress the story, but it was really interesting. It was very, I felt like when I was playing it. I was like,
Starting point is 01:15:33 it's a kind of a gaunt vibe. I saw you also played Submortical 2 as well. I haven't touched it yet because it's still early access. Yeah, I was sponsored to play it. Right. Because obviously I did a lot with Subnotica 1.
Starting point is 01:15:45 Yeah. Very promising so far. Right? Really? Yeah, the multiplayer was really cool. Okay, okay, that's good. I think definitely wait till it's in 1.0 though, I think that's what I'm, I've decided I'm doing.
Starting point is 01:15:57 Right. I'm going to wait till 1.0. Who knows how many years that's going to be? Could be too. two, three years, but I'm gonna wait until one point now. Sorry, there's plenty of games coming out until then anyway. Yeah, and, you know, unfortunately, it is, there's only about 10 hours of gameplay so far.
Starting point is 01:16:10 And you're not getting close to the stories. It's like, to me, it feels like, unless you want a base build underwater, there's pretty much no point. Just a fine check. Like if you're out to play for story. So I'll pretty do like a restarted play through in like future. Yeah, because I really want to play, obviously for like the gameplay as well.
Starting point is 01:16:27 But I mean, the one thing that's got me to place of Morska, over every other like survival game was the story. Yes. This story's really cool on this. No, it's not survival. It's like action, I'd say. It's action? You don't base build or anything.
Starting point is 01:16:40 You just wander around the fucking... I mean, this looks like survival horror? Maybe action horror. Action horror. More so horror and the fact that you get fucking jumped. Do you count Resident Evil as a horror? Yeah, Resident Evil's horror. Yeah, okay, totally.
Starting point is 01:16:55 It depends, but because like, Resident Evil has... Like, the different games have different... horror like uh six which is the one in the house which i haven't played is a very very like survival is that not seven is seven wait that is seven yeah seven is seven sorry seven eight is the village seven seven seven seven's one in the house right yeah yeah and nine to some extent has heart like does a bit of both of the gameplay they have action horror which is like when you're fucking killing all these fucking zombies as Leon. You're like, it's a great, it's fun. And then there's like survival horror which is like
Starting point is 01:17:30 fucking walk one step and try out to die. Yeah. And everything's scary and jump scares you. So they do, they experiment with horror a lot. Yeah. But it is horror. Okay. Yeah. Because some people are like, nah, it's more action than horror. I mean, five is. Like, if you play five, that's more of a
Starting point is 01:17:46 cod game than a fucking scary horror game, right? Like, it's just got zombies in it. Right. But you know, compared to like four, which is, you know, a lot more moody, and scary and you know, you have less mobility, you know, adds more horror to it. So the franchise dabbles in what it likes.
Starting point is 01:18:04 But I think it's fair to say that most of the time Resident Evil isn't that scary. Okay. Most of the time, most of the time, sure. Most of the threshold is, I'd say. My threshold is very low, Joey. That's why I'm asking.
Starting point is 01:18:19 That's why I'm asking. I just look at the cover of this one and I'm like, ah, this looks scary. This looks... Yeah, it is kind of... I mean, it is scary because it's, like, weird shit and it's developed by a Ukrainian studio, I think.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Okay. So, you know, it's... Look, anything developed in Eastern Europe is fucking automatically scary. Automatically, anything from there, I'm like, ah, I don't know if I fuck with this, man. Anything from Finland or Eastern Europe is automatically, like,
Starting point is 01:18:48 it's fucking 10 times more terrifying. Is that baseline? But what is, like, normal is just fucked. True. I can't believe persona 6 is real. Dude. I really hope we get early access to like we do with P3R.
Starting point is 01:19:04 Oh, that'll be fantastic. I'd be so happy if that was the case. It looks so good too. I know. Oh. And of course, we're never getting the first two remade because nobody played those. Look, that's why they finally announced six
Starting point is 01:19:21 because they were like, shit. We don't have any more games to remade guys. Which is a shame because I actually really enjoyed persona too. I don't even know what it's about. Well, it was actually two games. It was two games? Yeah. What did you mean?
Starting point is 01:19:36 It was Innocent Sin and, um, fuck, what was the other one? Basically, yeah, it was split up into two games where the first game, uh, is very much way more story driven. Mm-hmm. And it kind of like establishes the story. And then the second game is where like the, combat comes in and the second Persona 2 game
Starting point is 01:19:59 is considered like one of the hardest JRP's ever made. Oh shit. Because it's just like a fuck load. It's basically they took the Shimigami Tansai formula and they were like you need a grind for 40 hours to do anything in this game. Yeah. I bought the original PlayStation CDs again because I found out of a second hand store so I want to like go through them again but
Starting point is 01:20:19 I remember the persona 2 what the fuck was it called? Can you look it up? It's innocent It's Innocent sin, I think, is the name of one of the persona games. Yeah, Innocent sin and there's another game in Persona 2. It's Innoc Sin and... What was it called? There it is, there's the list.
Starting point is 01:20:45 Eternal punishment. Yeah. Eternal punishment is like one of the hardest JRPG's ever made. And the name doesn't lie. It is fucking hard. It is fucking hard. It is an eternal punishment. I never finished eternal punishment.
Starting point is 01:21:01 Yeah. But it's a good game. Damn. Yeah. Okay. It's easily the darkest persona game. Like, it's very much like Shimmy Tansi. See, I don't know much about the difference between persona and Shishimagami Tensei, aside
Starting point is 01:21:18 from, is it the same universe? Yeah, so Pesona is a spinoff of Shimamongi Tansi. Yeah. It's a spinoff that got more popular than Shimamami Tense. Tami Tamsi. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, the Shimigami Tensee games are also really hard, because they made Shimigami Tensei five. Do they have like the kind of like the dungeon crawling and high school aspect in this one as well? Yeah, yeah. So they had that in the original Shimigami Tensei right. So the original Shimigami Tensei is like the first shimingami Tensei is literally like a,
Starting point is 01:21:47 it's like, it's really weird. It's like a first person dungeon crawl. Yeah. In like a 3D thing. and there's like a lot of like the personas that show up in the later games as well that show up on there but it is like way darker and way more grind intensive yeah this is considered one of the hardest JRP's ever made really yeah I never beat it as a kid
Starting point is 01:22:07 I bet it's easy because it's hard as fuck it's one of those games where it's like you gotta grind for 40 hours well luckily if you're playing on like an emulator you could just you can 10 times speed yeah you can speed it off 10 times speed that shit yeah cheetah helps so much
Starting point is 01:22:22 when I whenever I've done like the Final Fantasies being able like put it on like 10 times of speeds yeah just spam like yeah battles in random battle oh my god it's game changer are you gonna play the new remake that's no you're not gonna play the remake no I don't you don't fuck with it which one seven remake yeah I don't know and I don't feel the need to did they announce the last game yeah they did sure it's just announced the last game okay I mean you're gonna play it right because you played both I'll play it no I haven't actually. You play the first one, right? No, I haven't finished it yet. I've played both. Yeah. You play both? Yeah. Joey's played both. I played both. Yeah. Did you like both?
Starting point is 01:23:00 I did. Um, I think the, I think the second game was kind of man, because they added a lot of like, kind of, like, open world exploration, which was just kind of not needed in my opinion, because it kind of just like, bloats. Yeah, it bloats and also it just takes away from the actual story, which is the best part of seven. Yeah. Is it bad of me to say that like, maybe this is like a boomer take. When I watch the gameplay, I'm like, wow, that looks boring. When I watch like the fighting, I'm like, holy shit, that looks boring. Well, it's funny you say that.
Starting point is 01:23:36 The reason I have not been, I've tried so hard because I really, really want to get into Final Fantasy 7. Or just Final Fantasy in general. I am 18 hours into the first Final Fantasy 7 remake. And I've, every time, and I tried this again, literally last week, I was like, maybe it's time to try and jump back into it. I just can't get my head around the gameplay of it, the battle system. Yeah. It just, you know, you know when you play a lot of, like, different games, you have that moment where the system just clicks and you're like, you get it. I am 18 hours into Final Fantasy 7 remake and it just has.
Starting point is 01:24:20 not clicked and it just feels like a chore to me. That was me with Xenoblede. Really? Yeah. I, because I never played a Zeno Blade game up until quite recently. I think I played ZenoBlay for the first time during COVID. Yeah. Because I was like, oh, I want to get into this game. Holy fucking shit, man. Jesus. I was like, I want to, you know, I want to work. It was during COVID. I'm inside.
Starting point is 01:24:41 I want to start some games that I've always wanted to start. So I started playing Zinoblade 1. I think I picked up and dropped that game probably like four or five times until it finally clicked. Yeah. Because I was just like, I just can't really get into this battle system, not necessarily because it's bad. It's just, I don't know, something about it. There was this like one extra hurdle that I needed to get across for it to be like, okay, I get it now.
Starting point is 01:25:04 What was that aha moment for you then? I think it was when I maybe hit like the second boss where, you know, where you had to start in Xenobled One where you kind of had to start like not just like mashing actions, but like, you also had to like kind of theorize and time stuff. and switch characters around and stuff like that. And that was when I was like, oh, okay, now I kind of get what this system is trying to do. Because the first boss, you don't have to do that.
Starting point is 01:25:29 You can just fucking mash your way through it because it's just a tutorial boss. But the second boss was I was just like, oh, okay, now I actually see the complexities of this system. And I know how having to know this more complex system is going to make the further battles more interesting. Yeah. And it was also around the time where the story
Starting point is 01:25:46 was actually getting interesting, because Zinablade one takes a while to get started up in the story. as well. But yeah, this, yeah. But I mean, there's so many games like that. Like Zinaplay 3 as well. Played like the first five hours, maybe like two, three times. And I was just like, just kind of get into it. I don't know what it is. I'm sure if I got past that hurdle, I'd enjoy it. But yeah, for me with the Final Fantasy 7 remake, what is like stopping me is that it's kind of like a 50-50 between turn-based combat and a real-time battle system. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:17 But instead of like, and I love, I love both. turn-based systems and I love real-time combat systems. And what I can't get into is that it tries to do both, but it doesn't satisfy me fully in either aspects. Yeah. When I'm getting into the action side, I hate the fact that I have to pause and it breaks the flow of the action of it. And with like the turn-based battle part, it's like, because I'm also juggling that with the real-time battle system and the blog and the dodging and stuff like that. It's not it's it's it's, it's, it's fully focus on the decision making process of it as well.
Starting point is 01:26:56 So it's it's it's kind of like I'm just like, I'm, I'm just, you're trying to satisfy both parts of my brain, but it's none of them are none of them is being like fully satisfied. Yeah. And I think I would prefer it if it was just fully committed to being either one or the other. I kind of get that because the, the, the second seven remake that I played, halfway through, I was just kind of getting like bored of the actual. combat. So I just, I just changed the game to easy just because I was like, I'd rather just like actually focus on the story. Yeah. Than anything, because I feel that's the main draw for a
Starting point is 01:27:30 game one. Yeah. I mean, not to say that the battle, you know, stuff was like necessarily, you know, boring or anything, but like in the normal, in the normal difficulty, like, there's also some parts where you're like, you kind of have to grind. And I was just like, I don't even like the combat that much to begin with, let alone having to grind with this system as well. I'm just like, I'm treating this more as like a fucking 50-hour movie, you know, than anything. Because like the thing you have to understand as well is that like, you know, you've played the original, you'd know. The original seven is like what, a 60-hour game maybe, 50, 60-hour game?
Starting point is 01:28:03 Not even. It's a 35-hour game. Yeah, right? The first two games already are like probably 30, 40 hours each. So that's how much bloat that they put into this. And a lot of it is also because like, you know, the cut scenes. scenes are longer and you know. And to be honest, like when you play the original, you know, it's 36 hours.
Starting point is 01:28:25 And I think a lot of people always associate GLPGs having a lot of grinding necessary. But at least for like square, at least maybe the earlier ones they do, but at least six through ten, you don't really need to. No, not really. I pretty much never had to grind. I will just always just follow the story. And unless you're like actually unable to like strategize in a battle like you should be fine yeah this is like obviously if you want to fight like the
Starting point is 01:28:55 Omega bosses like the Ultima or whatever yes you all need to grind ungodly amount but yeah that's that's like an after story thing that you can do if you want to yes not not something you do before yeah so it's you know the grinding is not really that present
Starting point is 01:29:13 and then if they like actually force you to do it and like that sounds yeah you're just seeing Remake 7, 33 hours, rebirth, 40 to 60. Yep. What? They added a lot more stuff to this game, and I'm going to assume that Revelation, the last game,
Starting point is 01:29:30 is probably going to be the same length as rebirth. Because, again, we're only like two-thirds of the way through the original story. Do you just restart your progress, or does it carry over or something? How does it work? I'm not too sure, actually. I mean, fuck. What happened for remake and rebirth?
Starting point is 01:29:46 Did you just start fresh with a new character? Well, remake, yeah, you start fresh. Sorry, I'm sorry, for rebirth, sorry. For rebirth? Like, what are all the levels you got in the previous game and shit? I think it starts from the beginning. And everything just kind of scales down with it. Oh.
Starting point is 01:30:00 Yeah. I don't remember that much because when did rebirth come out like fucking 10 years ago? Like a long fucking time ago? Oh, rebering from 10 years ago? How long has it been since rebode came out? Four years? I mean, yeah. That's still a long time ago.
Starting point is 01:30:17 Yeah. Also, there is... 204. Only two years ago. Oh, no, you know why? It's because it was the same time when I think it was like P3 and those games came out as well.
Starting point is 01:30:29 So... There is also one small thing that bothers me about the remake as well. And I want to... I want to put it out there to see if I'm the only person who thinks this way. But...
Starting point is 01:30:42 I don't know if it's just with the Final Fantasy 7 remakes. but my God, with the character animations and the cutscenes and stuff, sometimes they are too anime. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if I'm the only one that... And this is coming from not only an anime fan, but a JRP fan. Yes, yes, yes. Okay. Here's the thing, right?
Starting point is 01:31:10 Because it's not, it's not gonna be a problem with the original, uh, with the original games and stuff like that. Yeah. But when you have like hyper, realistic like 3D renders of the characters. And it's not an anime style. It's like, yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's more akin to like, you know, a traditional real, real life, you know, triple-A. My brain registers this as more closely resembling real-life actors than it does like an
Starting point is 01:31:36 anime style. Because, you know, when you have like anime style, uh, when you actually have an anime aesthetic, you know, you kind of- Yeah, like a Xenoblate or something. Yeah, like, okay, you let it go. Yeah. When I see fucking, it's, when I see fucking Eryph or Tifa being like, you know, oh, cloud. It's just, it's, it's, it's, it's, to me, it just breaks the immersion a little bit because it's just like, it's like that uncanny valley.
Starting point is 01:32:04 It's like going on Maid Cafe, right? Yes. Yes. And at, and. Oh my God. That's so true. Do you know what I mean? Fuck. Yeah. And it's just. Oh. was just like, why, why does this bother me? Because, like, when it, when they are so kind of like, maybe they are, their character is like so anime and so. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:25 When it's like Kate Sith, it's like, okay, it makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I kind of get what you mean. Because, because, because the only actually Final Fantasy I finished was Final Fantasy 15, 15? 16? The newest one? Yeah, the newest one.
Starting point is 01:32:42 16, yeah. And to me, you know, same aesthetic. but that's like, that feels like way more grounded, way more like, you know, way more graph, we're much closer to like a, like a Game of Thrones or something like that. And going from that to Final Fantasy 7 where everyone in this is so incredibly anime-esque to the point where it kind of like takes me out of some. I don't know, I, I'm saying this because I just want, I just want to know,
Starting point is 01:33:09 am I the only one, am I the only anime fan where I'm bothered by this, like that even I fucking love anime and the anime tropes. No, I I get what you mean actually. I think if you compare it to I think a studio that's doing animation really high, like fidelity animation at least.
Starting point is 01:33:29 It's doing it really well. It's pretty like, again like Capcom with Resident Evil. Like you look at the animation. Really, really fucking hyper-realistic and but it looks like really natural like the way that like the characters move in the space like I don't how much they must have like a whole fucking Leon Kennedy animation team to make him move
Starting point is 01:33:48 fucking hot and handsome but didn't they motion capture that yeah it's like motion capture maybe it is motion maybe it's old motion capture yeah yeah um but like i think it's probably how you would probably want to do it to make it look realistic i don't know i mean probably just different animating style's true yeah i think i think it's a different animating style uh i just i just sometimes there are just moments that take me out of it because i you i've registered this as a live action closer to a live action story and then sometimes one of the characters will just do something that's like so anime and it works in it's mostly it's mostly eras yeah they're not do mocap for this at all or is it is it is it i i want to assume they did mocaps because if it's mocap you know
Starting point is 01:34:30 you'd get more life like um animation no no no no no five page seven remake i'm just sad that they fucking canceled the nine remake they canceled the nine remake well the the That wasn't like confirmed, was it? I think it's confirmed that they canceled the nine remake. I, that's why I saw. They used extensive motion capture. But it doesn't feel like they did? No, I mean, it, it does, but it, you know, it, they are doing motions that you would see, like, a typical anime character doing.
Starting point is 01:34:59 Maybe the direction is like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. It's just cringed to do it and realize. Again, it's like a maid cafe, right? It's like, I know you don't actually talk and sound like that. I remember I saw someone talk about this, they were like, no, it's normal in Japan to do that. And I was like, the fuck you talk to you talk to me. In what universe? Like it is not fucking normal.
Starting point is 01:35:16 And maybe if you're talking to like a men hitter girl. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, like I said, it's, if this was like a 2D anime, like animation style, there are plenty of games and JRPGs where I think it works like perfectly. Like persona series, for example. Yeah. Where I'm like, that to me, my brain registers that as an anime. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:35 And when characters and that act like anime characters, there's nothing weird about this. Yeah, this one, this one just hit that uncanny valley. for me sometimes and I'm just like, oh. Yeah, shit, I'm not going to be able to unsee that now. Because I'm probably going to play the last game as well, because I'm already fucking two games through it. I might as well see it to the end. But, fuck, next time I see aerathon screen,
Starting point is 01:35:59 I'm just going to remember that. I'm just going to be like, bitch, calm down. Bitch, you're a character not a cosplay here? Oh, actually, I didn't even think she's going to be in the third game. He's already dead, so. Damn, Joey. Spoilers, by the way, for a 30-year-old game. Damn, it's like me swanning one piece of corner.
Starting point is 01:36:20 Yeah. Okay, that's actually spoilers. I mean, yeah, I don't, I don't, uh, yeah, think much about it. Again, I, I, I like turn-based a lot. I don't really. What amazing character development. How times have changed. I know.
Starting point is 01:36:36 How times have changed, man. And I, I, I also, if anything, I mean, you know, I like what expression 33 did with turn-based. I like Chrono Triggers turn-based. I love six is active. I like active battle turn-based too a lot. Yeah, six perfected that shit. I love when they force you to be quick with your decisions.
Starting point is 01:36:55 Yeah. It adds a lot of stakes to it. Yeah. Because it's like, oh, the enemy is actually fast. I can't just take my time. Yeah. That's always very fun. Yeah. I think there's a lot of ways of doing it.
Starting point is 01:37:05 And to me, the kind of DMC-5 fighting system doesn't really appeal to me that much. The hack and slash. Yeah. Is it hack and slash? I guess it would be hack and slash. Yeah. Kind of like half half and slash, half fighting game inputs.
Starting point is 01:37:21 Yeah. I hate fighting game inputs with a burning passion. Like I hate having to do button combos and shit. Massive button combos. Yeah, me too. For me that is not fundamental. I got back into Guilty Gear, strive.
Starting point is 01:37:35 I know. Yeah, you're saying. Oh, shit. Yeah. And I also, I got to, I hit my wall and my wall was like platts. And I hit my wall basically of how far I can get without having to learn compost.
Starting point is 01:37:50 And just hitting pure fundamentals because goddamn, I would say learning, like getting good at fighting games is honestly, has a lot of similarities to learning musical instruments, actually. Because you know, in musical instruments, you just got to get to that point
Starting point is 01:38:09 where you want to play your favorite songs. But you just got to start practicing scales. Yeah. And you got to nail the fundamentals. Yeah, you got to nail the fundamentals. And you just got to get the scales right. And let me tell you, ain't nothing more boring than playing scales for 30 minutes. That shit's yawn-inducing.
Starting point is 01:38:27 Yeah. But you got to do it. And for me, my wall with fighting games was, okay, I've practiced my fundamentals and, you know, just trying to read the opponent and getting good. But everyone's just like out-damaging me and out-comboing me. Now I just got to sit. It's like, oh, you miss inputted two frames late. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:46 You're just dead. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. My must memory is just not good enough. With games like when I played, I imagine like 16 and stuff, like you probably never need to really learn the crazy combos because normally the basic ones are sufficient enough to get you through the game. See, what I don't know.
Starting point is 01:39:06 I mean, I assume the basic combos are normally enough. Yeah, I'd say so If there is a crazy combo That is actually difficult There's normally never a need in story games To actually have to learn it Yeah, that's true Most of the time you're just like
Starting point is 01:39:20 Oh, Sam of Bahamut, you play Well, it's funny because in fighting games When you get to a certain point You realize that fighting games It's actually just a turn-based game That is... Except each turn is like two frames long No
Starting point is 01:39:34 There's just so much theory In fighting games And like spacing is such a massive part of it. Yeah. And I mean, the theory in fighter games is, you have like, you have the neutral game, which is like the footsies, right?
Starting point is 01:39:49 And that is, that is the real, that is the real fighting game right there, right? Because the whole concept of, the whole concept is to get that first hit in, right? And then once you get that first hit in, it's a turn-based game. You can put down the fucking controller and be like, okay, I'm going to take this much damage.
Starting point is 01:40:07 And then what happens? And then when the combo finishes, what happens afterwards? Where you go back into like the neutral game, right? And then you have to, and then you, and then maybe the opponent used some resources to get an advantage to get that first hit. And now you have an advantage to get that hit back. And then, you know, it is your turn to start fighting
Starting point is 01:40:29 and start trying to hit as well. And it's just a very, very fast turn-based game. Yeah. The point is when it's your turn, you need to optimize how much damage you can do, right? Because otherwise, it will go back to his turn, and he's going to just out-damage you. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:46 So it's super, super interesting. I'm just not dedicated enough for going to play that. It is something that requires dedication. Yeah. It's like you're either a gaming, you're either a fighting game guy or you're everything but a fighting game guy. See, one thing I can respect about fighting gamers
Starting point is 01:41:02 is that they just have like, they're at the same time, the most chillest people and the most aggressive. The most sweaty people at the same time. Yeah, aggressive. There's that moment where like the moment they like grab the joystick or they grab the controller, they just like zone in and they just lock the fuck in, they're like,
Starting point is 01:41:20 don't talk to me, I'm about to kick ass. But there is so much about like having like the right mentality and the philosophy of fighting games when you're approaching fighter games. I mean that part I can respect. Yeah, totally. It's all about learning. It's not always about winning.
Starting point is 01:41:34 It's all about self-improvements. Yeah. Just can't be me. Yeah. You know, I'd much rather people get into fine games and people get into fucking Bitcoin, you know. People... I mean, that's neither he nor there, you know, come on.
Starting point is 01:41:49 When you talk about self-improvement... That's apples and oranges, baby. When we talk about, especially like male self-improvement culture, there's two paths you can take, you know. You can either be a hustle, bro, or you can be an FGC player. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, right? Please be the FTC player.
Starting point is 01:42:05 Please be the FTC, bro. That's so funny. But moving away from gaming for a little bit, I had my very first experience having an MRI. Oh, wow. I've never had... Why? Are you okay? I am okay.
Starting point is 01:42:27 Just a check-up? I'm okay. It's just... I had a... So we do like the yearly health checkup in Japan. at least you should do. I don't know if you guys still would do it. Yeah, by the way, I haven't done it about four years.
Starting point is 01:42:38 What? Have you not? I've never even gotten the call for it. So I don't know what the fuck's up with that. So this year I decided to just get it done in Thailand since I was, I've been in Thailand a lot. And the healthcare there is very affordable and actually pretty damn good now. Thailand's invested a lot into their healthcare since health tourism is kind of becoming a
Starting point is 01:43:04 much bigger part of their economy. So this year decided to get it checked in Thailand. And during my health checkup, they found something on my liver. And
Starting point is 01:43:20 they told me that they found a small something. It was about a centimeter big. Probably nothing. But you have two choices. You can wait and get checked up in six months or, you know, every six months or a year to see how fast this thing, if it's growing,
Starting point is 01:43:39 if it's not growing. Or you can get an MRI for peace of mind. And I was just like, well, this is, this is kind of like the, you know, at times where I'm like, I would much rather if I could get out of the way. Yeah, get out of the way for peace of mind. Getting an MRI scan in Thailand is also a lot more affordable than it is in other countries as well. Still expensive, but if I can pay
Starting point is 01:44:08 around $600 for peace of mind, that's kind of how much it costs in Thailand. And I would much rather I'd much rather just get it over with than really than being like six months to a year. Holy shit, is this thing growing? Is it a bad thing?
Starting point is 01:44:24 You know? I'm just going to, I'm just going to lay it out now. It was nothing. That's good. They found out that it was just a clump of blood which is, which can be very, very normal for the liver. Okay. That's good, thank God.
Starting point is 01:44:39 But my God, MRIs are fucking terrified now. Yeah, I've been in one. You've been in one? Yeah, for my ass. I'm too kicked up. Wait, you got an MRI for your ass? Yeah, before I had an ass surgery. Oh shit.
Starting point is 01:44:54 And the doctor was like, Conno, we have great news. You're thick. It was like there to bring out four guys to kick me in the machine. It was like, it wouldn't get to get me. We're in like a packed train. I was like, I'm in, and they're like, you're not in, buddy. Yeah. And then I just remember the noise it would make was like, it reminded me of like a fear and hunger track.
Starting point is 01:45:17 Yeah. So we're like, doong, doong, doong, dong, dung. I've never been in an MRI, so. Really fucking loud. It's really loud. And the first thing they ask you is, are you claustrophobic? Because I- Only my ass went in.
Starting point is 01:45:31 Wait, what if the- Only your ass went in? Well, yeah, because I'm scared of my ass. I don't need to get a whole body. Like, back him up. Be-b-you-you-you-you have the easy experience. They backed me up. Yeah, so I went, I wasn't in the machine.
Starting point is 01:45:41 I was like, head out, like, arms out. All right. I just chill as fuck. Yeah. So, yeah, I had to do, I had to go like head first in there. Wait, so what if you say yes? I don't know. And they're just like, too bad, bitch, get in.
Starting point is 01:45:54 I was actually curious about what happens if you say yes. Do they just like, like, fucking knock you out? And they're like, okay, we're gonna do it as you, like, knocked out. But like I had to be like strapped down because they were like they were taking an MRI of my entire top half. Did they have to inject you with something as well?
Starting point is 01:46:13 No. So that is like if they need to see specific areas I think like when they check for like other things like breast cancer and other types of I can't remember exactly why but there are some that require you to be injecting with the fluid so they can clearly see it. I think that's when it's a bit
Starting point is 01:46:28 deeper. Yeah. Mine was on like the surface of my ass so it was kind of like it's not too bad. So I had to do my scan. I didn't realize how long an MRI scan took. Long, like 30 minutes? Yeah, I was mine was about an hour, actually. Maybe because of the fluid too.
Starting point is 01:46:45 Yeah, yeah, mine, I had to do mine without fluid and then with fluid as well for. 15 to 90 minutes. Yeah, 15 to 90 minutes. Oh, yeah, it says depending on what the thing is. I thought it was like a five minute thing. Oh, it's pretty long. You're in there for a while. Yeah, I didn't realize how long it took.
Starting point is 01:47:00 and how big of a deal it was because yeah, yeah, when I go in, I wasn't scared until they just fucking strap you down like a fucking... Like Frankenstein, like Frankenstein. They give you this little squeezy thing and I'm like, if anything goes wrong, just give it a squeeze and we'll come rushing in.
Starting point is 01:47:19 And I'm like, okay, but whatever you do, do not move at all. Even when you're breathing. When you're scanning, you just have to take a breath in and just don't move. Jesus. And they put this contraption over my chest and they strap me down. And the fucking sound that it makes when you're in there,
Starting point is 01:47:39 just knowing like, okay, number one, the mental knowledge of just knowing that if I have any metal in me, I'm probably fucked. The strength of these. The strengths of this magnet is something incomparable. But the fucking noise that it makes as well. They gave me headphones. but it still went like right to my brain.
Starting point is 01:48:03 It's pretty fucking loud. Yeah. Very loud. Yeah. Not that scary though. You weren't scared? No, it was quite nice. But that's because you weren't in it.
Starting point is 01:48:12 Well, yeah. Yeah. I just sort of was like lying down hearing a fun droning noise. Yeah. It was just like, just keep your ass to. Yeah. Yeah, I remember just thinking like,
Starting point is 01:48:20 oh, it sounds like a horror game. Yeah, that's exactly what it sounded like to me. I'm like, yeah. I'm about to get jump scared right now. I can get a little window. pops up and just like a guy comes out. Was yours in a basement? Yes.
Starting point is 01:48:34 Yeah, right? I think they're normally in basements, too. That was the scary part going to like the basement of a hospital. Is it because it like the magnetic force doesn't fuck up like other instruments or something? I wonder if there was a, it was purpose, but I remember it was a massive fucking door to get in. Yeah, it was ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:48:54 Let's have a look. Yes, I memorize a traditionally place in hospital basements. Yeah. Immense weight, which contains strong magnetic fields and complex By far, you missed the worst part, though, which is the injection. I've never had this before because... Or... Where was it injected?
Starting point is 01:49:08 It was injected to my... It was injected to my arm. They had to put like a pretty big needle in there. Right. I feel like I have developed a fear of needles as I've grown older. Right. I don't mind the blood-taking needles because they are like the least offensive. But when I hear about these like membrane needles that you had or I hear about these needles,
Starting point is 01:49:29 I'm like... Yeah. Because I remember, I didn't know this, but they were like, are you scared of the first, actually, before they asked me if I was scared of claustrophobia, if I had phosphobia, they were like, I used scared of needles. And I was like, no. And like, okay, good, the needle was going to be pretty big big. And I'm like, huh? You need to know, didn't need to do that at all. And I was like, you know, I still get like small anxiety when I get blood taken now. But unfortunately for this one, when they told me it was a big needle, I'm like, okay, panicking a bit. But it's okay. I'm sure. I'm chill, low cortisol. They put it in and I just, it would just never, I could constantly feel the needle. And I hate it. I hate that.
Starting point is 01:50:11 I hate that feeling. I have like the panic meter. And it's like, I can, I can agree to do something I know will give me a panic attack. And it needs to be over within 10 minutes. Or I will freak out. And so when I'm getting shit like that done, I'm like, hurry up.
Starting point is 01:50:28 Hurry up. Yeah. Or like, I can tank it, but immediately after my body's going to go into, like, fucking shawl. Yeah. And they put the needle in and apologies to any, I probably should have the fucking trigger warning. Yeah. And, like, you know, when you get in your blood taking, you have this moment where you're like, all right, it's going to be over soon. And, you know, when they put it in for the prep, you know, they were like, okay, it's done.
Starting point is 01:50:50 And I was like, but I still feel it. I still feel it in me. And I hate it. Oh, you feel like the stuff they injected? Yeah. Yeah. And then, so they inject it. And you're in the machine.
Starting point is 01:51:01 So this is after about like 40 minutes of sitting hearing like fucking horror music. And they're like, okay, we're going to inject you with the fluid now. I don't know what the fluid is. But I've never had the sensation before. I've got your gamer subs. Yeah. We got the gamer juice now. I've never had this feeling before.
Starting point is 01:51:18 But I don't want to see it being injected because I fucking hate that shit. But my God, I felt like I was being injected with the super serum shit. Because for the first time, the T virus. Yeah, the T-virus, I could feel it. I've never felt something being- You could feel it coursing through your veins. I could feel it coursing through my veins. That's how I felt when I had the allergy shots.
Starting point is 01:51:40 Yeah. Like you can feel it like kind of spreading and going through your body. Was it like ice cold for you? Yeah. Oh my God. Did you do the thing where you go, no! I was, I was ready to... I thought they were like making the hole or something like that. He's going super safe.
Starting point is 01:51:57 Yeah, I could literally, like, oh, you opted in for the Red Bull Col? Like, my entire arm just went ice cold at the point. I was like, oh, what's this? And you could feel it spreading out throughout your, like, your arm. It's like someone's like dripping water, like ice cold water. And you can feel like coming down. Yeah, coming down. And I'm like, holy shit.
Starting point is 01:52:20 I'm fucking. Raw! Oh, I hated that shit, though. Yeah, I don't know. I'm so numb to needles there. You're so lucky. I wish so, man. I wish I was there.
Starting point is 01:52:33 I mean, the tattoos probably held as well. I've tried to like ease myself into not being afraid of them by like forcing myself to look when I get my blood drawn. Oh, I can't do that. But I can look at it, but I still freak out a little bit. So I don't know if it's possible. Because I do think it's possible to get over your fears. Yeah. I just don't know how.
Starting point is 01:52:52 It's, it is 100 impossible. It's a mental thing. Yeah. Yeah. chin up and you'll be like, yeah, whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:00 Yeah. Remember when I told you about, I had like a horrible experience of the dentist. So I swapped to a new one. He was like, he was like, why did you swap? I was like, didn't like it. He's like, why? He's like, ah, they didn't really explain things to me. He's like, ah, I see.
Starting point is 01:53:20 Would you prefer when they're doing procedure? Would you prefer when they do a procedure that you know, Yeah, I want them to walk me through everything because the thing that I give me, the only thing that I get really bad anxiety of like when stuff, you know, when stuff's happening is when I keep feeling things happen and I don't know what they're doing.
Starting point is 01:53:37 Yeah. And I would like to be walked through. The element of surprise. Yeah, because it's like, you know, when I went to the dentist, I had like a panic attack because they were like not explaining what they were doing. And so they just said, we're going to do this procedure.
Starting point is 01:53:51 And I was like, cool. And then so they just started. And they weren't walking me through what each thing was. And I was like, why am I being injected multiple times? Why is there like different rounds of injection? Why is there now I drill? Like, why was nothing to explain to me?
Starting point is 01:54:02 Because I feel that, like, frustrated that I don't understand what's happening. Right. And I wouldn't, I would feel a lot easier knowing like, oh, that's what they're doing. That's why I'm feeling this. Yeah. There's no need to worry. Like, so that you can, like, mentally prepare for whatever pain or sensation you're about to feel. Because sometimes you feel pain, right?
Starting point is 01:54:22 And you expect that with a lot of procedures. but you don't know what pain is to be expected and what isn't because I don't know, oh, what if they're like really fucking up? But I've already expected pain. So I think, oh, this amount of pain is okay. Yeah. And it's like, okay, no, actually something's wrong. But I don't know that because I've not been told what's happening.
Starting point is 01:54:40 I don't know roughly what to expect and what reaction, you know, I should be giving. And so I think for me, it's really helpful for them to like communicate, you know, and it's also my fault too. I need to advocate for myself more and tell them. But it's tough sometimes in medical situations because you're like, well, they're the expert. Yeah. I'm not doing that job.
Starting point is 01:54:57 I'm not trying to backseat. Yeah. I get no to go backseat to my job. I'm not going to tell him, hey man, really the hypodermic needle. Hmm, interesting choice. You know, like I'm just, I would like, you know, to be walked through
Starting point is 01:55:09 given that I feel like a fucking hamster being fucking tested on. Would you like to know if something hurts if they're about to do it? Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Like, just tell me. Like, hey, this is going to hurt a lot, by the way.
Starting point is 01:55:21 Yeah, because then I can mentally prepare myself, being like, all right, here comes the pain. The worst thing is when they'll be like, no, you'll be alright, and then you proceed to feel the worst pain imaginative. Yeah, I hate it when they're like, it'll be over quick and it's not. And I'm like, just tell me how long it's realistically going to be. So I'm prep mentally. Minutes and seconds, please.
Starting point is 01:55:37 Because the worst feeling is like, when's it going to stop? When's it going to stop? When's it going to stop? That's like the worst in your head, I think, personally. Yeah. But Japanese hospitals will scare me because they, like, keep you for so long. What do you mean? Like after surgeries, they just want to keep you there.
Starting point is 01:55:53 That scares me. Yeah, because they want to make sure you're alright. I don't want to be all right. I want to be home. But in America, I hear, is like the opposite with the like, oh, now you can fucking. How long did you have to stay after your ass surgery? Well, no, so I, I, they wanted me to stay two days.
Starting point is 01:56:08 And I was like, dude, I'm going home. They were like, oh, okay. So yourself. Because I did, like, I was asking some friends who were practitioners in the UK. I was like, you know, as a surgery like this, would you, in the UK, would you normally keep someone in the hospital for this? And they're like, um, you know, it's kind of preference, but generally no.
Starting point is 01:56:30 Yeah. I was like, okay, I'm gonna just be like, I'm going home then. And they were just like, you know, if there's a problem, come back. Yeah. Which I would rather that than, you know, because for me, I stay there for no reason. Yeah. Because I, you know, there's some kind of like mental kind of anguish about, you know,
Starting point is 01:56:47 staying in a hospital in the hospital. Yeah. Yeah. You know, not being in your space. And also, I don't know, man. Hospitals just freak me out. It's just bad vibes. It's just horrible vibes.
Starting point is 01:56:57 I don't think anyone likes being in a hospital. And I do think there's an aspect, at least for me, with like when I'm after a big thing like that, where I would like to be in a place that is more familiar, at least if it's possible, you know? Yeah, no, totally. And also, on top of that, you know, generally speaking, I'm like, I'm like young,
Starting point is 01:57:16 and I'd rather someone else who probably needs the bed a lot more, get it. Especially Japan. Lord knows of Japan there. A lot of people would need it. you were definitely the youngest person in that hospital. Dude, I was the youngest person in the hospital. 100%. I had to get some specialty one because it was the one that could accommodate my blood
Starting point is 01:57:31 disease. Yeah. They were like, oh, it's the in-bred hospital. Why am I the only one here? But yeah, I mean, it's, you know, health care stuff's always hard. And it's very difficult. Take care of yourselves, everyone. Yeah, take care of yourself.
Starting point is 01:57:47 Exercise every day and all that. Yeah, watch out for ausplisters. whatever it was that you got. Cests. Yeah, sists. Ah, sists. The gamer. The gamer, but.
Starting point is 01:57:57 Yeah, I mean, I don't know what, I don't know what could cause it. Probably sitting all day. Yeah. Probably is sitting all day. Probably. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, there's probably a number of things that could have caused it. Cycling could have caused it. I got it first time after cyclathon, so maybe that was it.
Starting point is 01:58:12 Ah, yeah. I mean, that makes sense. Yeah. You could feel the calluses forming whenever you sit on a little bit. Now I have calluses, so it's fine, but I think the first time I did it, it was a fucking shock. It was a fucking shock to my body. But yeah. But anyway, that's trash taste. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:26 Ass talk galore. Hey, look at all these patrons, though. Oh, patrons. Take care of yourselves, everyone. Make sure you're... Exercise, exercise every day. Yeah, exercise. Eat healthy.
Starting point is 01:58:37 You know, don't be too much of a gamer. Because otherwise, you're going to get a cyst on your ass. Learn from Connor. Get a fucking nice chair. Yeah, get a nice chair. Yeah, a nice chair or something. Actually, top ten things to invest in is a nice office chair. Yes.
Starting point is 01:58:50 Yeah. Yeah, I used to have one of those big gamer chairs, but fine after a while, just started hurting my ass. Oh, yeah. Damn. If you're going to afford it, get yourself a nice ergonomic office chair. It'll change your life.
