This back-to-school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon.
Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom, chaos coordinator, and someone who has learned the hard way that back-to-school
season is basically a second mortgage.
Last year, my daughter decided she absolutely needed this very specific backpack, not just any
backpack, the backpack.
I found it, I bought it, I sent her off on the first day of school.
She lost it by week two, gone forever.
So remember, with Amazon.
Amazon's low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't
spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them.
Gregoose believes in the art of living in choosing the pleasurable over the practical.
It's why we craft our premium vodka in France using pure spring water from Jenzac.
And why you hear the celebratory club of our quirk reminding us to make every Martini cocktail count.
So go on and make every moment count because there's no better time than now.
Greygoose make time wait.
Sit responsibly.
Hey, welcome back to another episode of the Trash Tastes Podcast.
I'm your host for today, Joey, with the boys, Conner & Gahn, as usual.
And next to me is a guest.
Hello!
I'm back!
It's Emily!
Hello!
She's back.
Do we still call them guests nowadays if they're just like part of the family, I would say?
They're not guests, their family.
The family member is back.
Your weird aunt is back in town.
Hey!
We need a girl to come on every now and again
just to balance us out.
We did Google a lot of weird things
the episode before, so I think we needed someone
to sort us out.
Yeah.
No, don't open the history page.
What would you guys look up?
Who is the horniest car and cars
inside of a car?
What?
Yeah, don't worry.
Watch the episode.
But yeah, how you been?
It's been how long since you've been on here?
It's already been a whole year.
Isn't that crazy?
It's actually a year ago?
I think so, yeah.
I remember.
I remember it vividly.
You want to know why?
Why?
Why?
I'm so happy that I'm back because I need to tell the story of how you all did me so dirty.
The last time I was here.
What do we do?
I know.
I actually don't remember.
I know where this is going.
Okay, okay.
So for some quick context, some context.
Okay.
Last year, around this time, actually it was on March.
I remember the month.
Yeah.
I remember the day well.
It was around March.
This is when I first really got into love and deep space, as you all know.
I was like, I must have been like week three into my love and deep space psychosis.
Oh yeah.
You went hard, though.
This is three weeks.
But I remember, as some of you guys might know, we did not talk about Love and Duce Face at all during my episode.
And, okay, let me tell you the story in my POV, right?
Okay.
So, Cindy recorded her episode before mine.
And I saw her, I think the day after, I think it was the day that she recorded.
I saw her.
And I was like, oh, how did your Trash Tastes Recording go?
And she was like, oh, it went well.
We talked about Love and Dube Space.
They're probably going to bring it up with you too.
And I was like, probably.
you know what? Yeah, I bet.
She's like, it's okay. So I know what to prepare.
Like, I don't have to think of any other topics.
Like, you know?
We can talk about that for two hours.
Just that.
And we didn't bring it up.
Well, that's not, there's still more.
Okay, okay, okay.
So then, the day of my recording comes, I walk in, I see Nabi.
And the first thing he says to me is,
you should have brought your Caleb cut out.
And I'm like,
I was like, oh my God, way to be subtle, Navi.
I wonder what we're going to talk about today.
I didn't know this.
I didn't know that.
And then the episode happens.
And I don't know if you guys can tell viewers at home, but if you look at that episode,
I'm like kind of on edge the entire time.
You're waiting for us to bring it off.
I'm like, when are they going to talk about love and deal?
Like, I was even looking for like an end.
I was like, okay, maybe they'll ask me like, what have you made?
into lately. What games I've been playing lately wasn't asked. We, I don't even remember
what we talked about. Nostrata, I remember, because I remember you went on a rent to me.
You're like, yeah. I don't fucking care about Nostrad. I want to talk about Kailam.
I remember. I mean, I should have known when it was like, so hot food. I'm like, oh, not this
again. Okay. Okay. That's not even it. Okay, okay. I will say, I will say in, in your guys's
defense, I should have taken the initiative. I want to
talk about it that badly. I should have taken the initiative to be like, hey guys. No, we should
have asked too. We should have asked. I think it was our bad. I think we're in Sydney. Yeah,
so then after that, I remember the day after I recorded, it was a company mixer.
Oh. And where we all went to the studio. Yes. And like, here's the thing. At this time,
okay, like, during the episode, I remember, I was like, I was shocked because I'm like,
I feel like, the only thing I've been talking about the past few weeks of love and deep space,
Anyone who even just knows me in passing
knows how deep in the hole I am right now.
Are these guys even my friends?
Do they even like me?
Why are they not bringing it up?
Anyways, I should have taken the initiative.
I will own up to that.
I should have sent something.
We should have.
But I was like, whatever, I'll get over it.
It's fine.
Company mixer happens.
And I have all these staff coming up to me
being like, oh, you recorded yesterday, right?
Did you get to talk about Levin D space?
And I'm like,
Okay, so this is the star fucking digging the whole even deal.
Like putting us on the spot.
I was like, no.
Yeah, we should have talked about it.
And then later, Sydney's episode comes out.
And I was like, well, at least one of us got to talk up 11T space.
You know, if no one's got me, I know my girl Cindy's got me.
The first thing I hear, yeah, I don't, I don't read the lore.
I put it on auto play.
I was like, I was ready to crash out.
I was like, no!
Yeah, because we were like, Sydney, is this a Guna game?
She's like, well, I don't know.
I don't read the story.
I just watch the Guna Pots.
We were like, oh, okay, so it's a Guna game.
And then you obviously were like, what the fuck?
No.
I was like, how could this get any worse?
How could this get any worse?
And then the episode releases.
And I remember all the early comments were like,
I can't wait to hear Emily Gushabelle.
Oh, my name.
I was like, this is the worst day of my life.
This is the worst day of my life.
Anyways, actually, I feel like it created like a domino effect
because I remember I was so upset at not being able to talk
about love and deep space.
I ended up writing like a whole script about love in deep space,
which ended up becoming a video on my channel.
Yeah.
And since then, I have uploaded eight videos about love and deep space.
Jesus Christ.
Did it kill the viewer retention on my channel a little bit?
Yes. Do I have regrets? No.
Well, you probably have very loyal viewers.
You're talking about what you love.
Yes.
People who are not fit to stay around and don't.
They're not the real thing.
This was a kind of an event, you know.
It kind of was, actually.
So, okay, so if you could then now go back to Emily
one year ago on that podcast,
you know, obviously you have three weeks in,
you just got into it, you know,
with the conversation,
what would you, like, tell yourself at that time?
You're like, you have no idea how much
is it going to, like, take over your life.
I don't know.
I feel, I'd go, would you care?
Would you commit as hard?
I wouldn't want to like,
to mess with the future, you know?
There was a cat in the event.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
So I guess then, like, tell us,
like, how the hell did this all start?
Like, what the hell even?
Yeah, let's actually talk about it.
Do you even, I've made eight videos about it already.
Yeah, but our view is,
I haven't seen Love and Deepstace videos.
Go to my channel.
Well, okay, so okay, I'll, I'll do it real quick.
I don't want to, ah, don't get, no, don't wait.
No, no, please.
I watch the first ones.
And then as I get, as you get deeper, deeper in the hole,
I start to feel like I am, I need to know more and more to stay into the hole.
Yeah, well, okay, so it started off as a sponsor.
As it always.
As it always does.
And like, funny enough, I, uh, initially, I used to think Levin DuSpace was like crinned.
Yeah.
Because of the ads.
They had real, I don't know if their ads are better, but their ads were really bad back in the day.
And I remember when it was being presented to me, the deal,
Sam was like, hey, I know you think this game is like cringe,
but would you be down to do a sponsor?
They want you indict us to draw the newest love interest.
And I was like, oh, we get to draw a hot guy.
I get paid.
That sounds great, sure.
And then so I was like, well, I have to do my research.
I have to play the game so I can like talk about it.
So I started playing the game.
And I was like, okay, this is fine.
simple research.
Yeah.
And then I remember, like,
I got pretty into it.
It was just a lot of reading.
It was a lot more homework than I expected.
Yeah, I think I played the, we played the first hour.
And I remember, wow, this is not what I expected.
Yeah.
Like, why is there aliens and things?
What the hell's all this about?
Yeah.
And funny enough, I remember, because Caleb hadn't come out yet.
And so I hadn't met him in the game.
He wasn't out.
But they were like, actually,
infildily wants you to draw the new love interest,
Caleb.
And I was like,
What? I have to draw Caleb.
I don't know anything about this character.
Can you bring up Caleb, by the way, because I've no idea.
Oh, yeah, please.
I was like, I don't know anything about this character.
I have to, I have to draw, like, I have nothing to say.
Right, right.
Oh, hell yeah.
Is it like your stamina bogg goes back out?
Do it for him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, do it for him.
And then, so the episode ends.
And then I remember the next day, I'm, like, still playing.
and Ditis is like
You know the sponsor's done
Like
You don't have to keep playing it
And I'm like oh
I'm just gonna keep playing until the banner's done
Like you know
I still have some like
Free pulls
Yeah I still have some poles left
You know
And he's like oh okay have fun
And it's been a year
And it's been a eight
YouTube videos later
Yeah you're still pretty like
Like it's going strong right
Like as strong as then
Not as strong as then
Because obviously like
When you're like
fresh into it. It's a lot more exciting.
Yeah, yeah.
Obviously updates start feeling like they're more space to part.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, um, as I would say a stronger representative
of love and deep space than as Sydney was, I would say,
now knowing more about talking with both of you
about your perception of this game.
Okay.
What do you think is the big appeal of love and deep space?
Oh, the big appeal?
Yeah.
Other than Caleb.
Yes.
What was that moment where you're like,
moment where you're like, oh, I'm out, I'm kind of getting into this. When did it go from simple research
to, oh, this is my new obsession? I think when I started drawing fan art. Oh, yeah, I think,
because. The traditional way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, where it's like, and then, and then you're,
like, consuming other fan artists work. And then you're like, oh, because like, they all have
pretty extensive lore. But then you're like, oh, but like, what happened during this time in their
childhood? Like, maybe I should draw out a little scenario.
I think a lot of what makes, I guess,
this fandom so fun is everyone has like such vivid imaginations.
Yeah.
And they make a lot of head cannons.
I always, it feels like I was like transported back
to the Tumblr days because when you were posting your comics,
I would see top comments like,
you're my head canon artist for this thing.
And it reminds me of being like.
That is the biggest compliment.
Whenever any time I draw, I mean, I've been drawn around in a while,
but anytime someone is like, oh my God, like,
oh, you understand the character so well.
I'm like, oh, thank you.
Like, oh my God, he would totally do this.
I'm like, yes, you're so right.
It seems like the one thing
has done really well that I think
not a lot of games or mobile games do you very well.
It's like, you get your guy and you root for your guy.
Whereas like, you get your games,
you just get the six star, whatever you use them.
You're like, all right, come wait for the next one.
Next one.
This one is like, this is your guy.
Yeah, this is your man.
You're on team, you're on team that's cool too.
I like that's really cool.
But this is my guy.
Yeah.
I think that's the aspect that it does really well because it makes that fandom and community, I think.
Which makes it really, it seems really fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I know a lot of gacha games, it's like, especially with the, you know, other kind of like mainstream Gatcha games, it's kind of like, okay, here's the character of the week, basically.
And let's sell this character for like two, three weeks and we're going to move on to the next whole character, you know?
Whereas with these plays, one thing I found me really interesting was that these are like the five main guys that stick with you.
throughout the entire story.
And I was like,
I feel like more Gatchie games
could or should, like, do this model.
So is it only five?
It's only five.
People keep saying,
oh, there's a rumor
to sixth love interest,
but I don't know if there actually is.
That probably is what it is as well, right?
Because it's like, you know,
with like other, you know,
um,
Gatshia games and stuff like that,
there's like fucking 50 to 100 characters.
Dude, I haven't caught up with Genshin in years.
Yeah, like how many fucking characters
are there in Genshin?
I don't know.
There's too many.
Yeah, right?
Can we pull up Genshin character list?
So I feel like games like that and like Ark Nights and like all these other ones, it's like this because it's so 117.
So because there's so many, it's harder to like for everyone to be like that hardcore fan, right?
There's more casual fans than anything.
More five stars.
Yeah, I know.
It's because the five stars is what make money.
Yeah, fair enough.
No one cares about the four stars.
Yeah, unfortunately.
See, Angling's my favorite.
I saw an insult that was like, no.
I hope your favorite voice actors are four-star in Genshin.
What's wrong with that?
Is that a burn?
What's up?
I guess you do all these voice lines and no one uses you.
Oh.
Yeah.
I think that's so brutal.
I hope they play only an NPC.
I mean, we're an NPC in a on Kais-L-Ril, right?
We are, yeah.
Oh, yeah, we are.
Yeah.
You feel about this?
Well, no, I've, hey, you're an NPC, bro.
I have two whole lines.
I have a name.
You are vagrant number of A and B.
A vagrant number, bandit number 17.
Yeah, legit.
My name is Peek, okay?
Bitch.
I have a name and it is...
Vagrant.
It is restless vagrant, actually.
My peak voice acting experience right there.
Don't ask me to name my character
because I don't remember it.
Something vagrant.
Patrick Star.
It's like goofy, it's like goofy vagrant or some shit.
I don't know.
So, yeah, are you still like playing Levin Deep Space
quite a lot then?
Yeah.
Well, now it's more like,
I log in, do my dailies.
And I go to all the events.
You always jump into rabbit holes, though.
That's what I found out.
That's one thing I've always known is that you would,
so when you first got into it, I was like,
you'll find something there in two weeks.
No, no, I'm in it.
I know, I know, I know.
And like, it has been a very good experience.
This seems great.
Yeah, yeah, I've made a lot of new friends through it too,
which has been nice and very unexpected.
I see all the events you, you know,
doing for like the love deep space banners
and characters and I think it's really cool.
Oh, yay, thank you.
It's really creative.
Because when I hang out my friends, like,
I must just have a drink, I guess.
I felt like, man, I wish we were in a love in deep space.
I wish we did like all parties.
Fuck, man.
Well, yeah, if you have a favorite character,
just like set up like a thing for them.
Do you have a favorite character you're like not normal about?
Not normal about it.
No, I think the part of the really British part of my head is like,
what are you doing?
Stop this right now.
No whimsy.
Well, that's the thing.
I know that I should have whimsy,
but then I'm, but then I also get in my head
because I'm like, I'm just fucking, I'm liking this character
and exactly what this fucking corporation wants me to do.
Oh my God.
They want me to fucking like buy and promote their character
and I get in my head about it and I'm like, I should just bread.
He thinks too much about the system.
I'm just gonna eat bread.
I'm gonna eat bread, I'm gonna eat a loaf of bread.
They can't take that away from me.
Yeah, but you should do a bread.
That's what big bread wants you to think.
Yeah, exactly.
Big bread.
Fucking big bread.
Fuck.
That's what the wheat companies.
You're part of the system gonna.
Fuck, right?
Oh, no.
Yeah, but so, I, because I'm the same as Connor.
There's a lot of characters that I love, but I, I don't know, I see like, I see like the, you know, kind of like the idol fandom where it's kind of like they really, really worship, like, certain characters.
And I wish I had this, I wish I could have the same amount of passion as some of these fandoms.
I think it's a mental block, skill diff.
That used to be me too, though.
Really?
I remember.
I don't know.
Hot guys.
I remember years ago,
I would see girls with Eda Bags
and I'd be like, damn,
I wish I liked a character enough
to actually want to do this.
I'd like express it as well.
Right?
And then Baldersgate 3 came out.
Was it Boulder's Gate 3?
But you're a staring, right?
Oh, yes.
Put it up.
Put it on the screen.
I don't play it on the screen.
Full screen.
I remember your Borders Gate phase
Every day, Sydney would get a text about something that happened in Boulder's gay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
Oh, of course the first pick is him fucking with his shirt on.
Yeah.
Oh, this guy.
Oh, my God.
So beautiful.
Anyways, I also have like kind of an Eda bag for Astarian now, too.
Yeah.
Of course.
Of course.
You were you at the Didist one too?
Yeah.
That was really cute.
That was very cute.
That was very cute.
It's just fun.
It's just fun to like put stuff together for like, little character.
What about Asterion broke the gate for you?
Well, first of all, the voice acting is incredible.
I thought the voice acting.
Neil Newborn?
Oh yeah, yeah, he's very good.
He's so good.
And also, like, Astarion has such a, like, tragic backstory.
And like, I, okay, the thing is, I don't care about vampires
or tragic backstories, usually.
I don't know what it was.
Does Caleb have a tragic back story?
He does.
Guys, guys, let me tell you.
I don't normally go first.
these guys, but, but.
I don't, I don't.
I'm sensing a pattern here.
I've never, I've never been into, like, I've never been a, uh, how well, I was that,
I've never been a monster fucker.
Do vampires kill?
Monster fuck?
Do vampires?
Of all the monsters, vampires are like the least monster monster.
That's true.
But like, I never had like a vampire diary's face.
I never had a twilight phase.
Um, and like, I've never been into like the yonderate types or like the possessive characters.
Like, that has never been appealing to me.
But also, I don't know.
I did have a.
I have a huge crush on Light Yagami when I was like 11.
So like maybe, maybe that was always.
You like the brooding characters.
I think so.
Yeah.
But also, he's also just such a funny character.
Astarian.
I still like to play Ballas K-3.
What?
I haven't played it.
I haven't played it's long.
It's long.
It's, how long to take you to finish your first play-through?
I don't know.
I stopped after I was in the middle
of my third play-through because I wasn't getting
any work done.
Third play-through.
Yeah, okay, so, okay, I'll TLDR at
really quick. Basically, the way, okay, you can blame Ditis for this, by the way. He's one that
got me into ball of daycare because, oh my God, this was like 2023. Yeah. This back to school season
spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom, overthinker, and someone who has a
complicated relationship with the back to school supply list. Can we just be honest for a second?
Kids are expensive. Last year, I went all out on my daughter's school supplies, color-coded folders,
the fancy pencil case, gel pens in 17 colors she absolutely needed. By October, she had one pencil
left. One. I don't know what happened to the rest, and honestly, neither does she. Amazon has everything
your kids need for back to school at prices that won't make you want to cry in the school supply aisle.
Great prices, huge selection, and when half of it goes missing by October, at least you didn't
break the bank. So remember, with Amazon's low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids. Because
every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them.
So he and two of his friends, two of our friends, wanted to do a co-op.
And he's like, we need a fourth.
He's like, Emily, you should play baller skate three.
I think you'd like it.
I'm like, no, I don't have time.
Like, it seems like it's really long.
And he's like, it's like D&D though.
And I'm like, hmm, okay, maybe I'll try it.
And so I did.
And I got so into it that it wasn't.
enough to wait for our weekly, because you know, time zone differences, because we were playing
with friends of North America. I was like, I cannot wait for these like weekly ballets game three
sessions. So I started a new session with a different character, the different class. But then it got
to the point where like I was going past where our co-op run was. And then Ditis was like getting
upset because he's like, we're supposed to experience it together. Why are you going ahead?
I'm like, no, but it's a completely different. It is a completely different gaming experience.
when you have like those characters as your party members
versus when you are playing with your friends
and like not really involved in the character stories.
It was incredible.
So then we finished the co-op line
and then shortly after that I finished my solo run
and then I started a third run
with a different character in a new class.
And then I was like, I need to get work done.
Because I would log on every day,
log on, clock into Ballard's Gay 3,
clock into my 9 to 5, Ballard's Gay 3.
And then not even 9 to 5, like 9 to 9.
It was bad.
Unemployment speed run.
I mean, that seems to be in the experience
with Borders Gay 3.
I remember I didn't see Sidney
for like a good month when
you got her into it, by the way, Emily.
All my friends who were into this game,
this was all they did for the past late.
You wanna know why I didn't make
a Ballers Gay 3 rabbit hole video?
Because I was too busy playing Ballers Gay-Rae
I literally didn't have time.
I was like, I can't do this.
I have to quit.
Is the gameplay really fun?
It's really fun.
I've, everything everyone's told me is that act one is like 10 out of 10 perfect.
Act two is good and then act three it kind of falls apart a little bit.
A little bit, yeah.
But they say like it's still worth doing even like because act one is so, so good.
75 to 100 hours.
It's so good.
I think it's my favorite game of all time.
I mean, everyone says like it's maybe their favorite game ever.
Yeah.
I've only heard good things about it.
It's definitely, I'm definitely gonna play it one day because I know I would love.
I didn't.
I'm trying not.
sounds sarcastic because you know there's some like media that you're like, I'm gonna fucking love this.
Dude, this is, this has gone into my fucking retirement gaming list.
You know, like when I have no obligations left, nothing to do.
You have a spare like 200 hours to spare, you know.
Oh no, because recently you just started watching, I don't know how far you are into it,
you just started watching a full meta-athouse brotherhood. You finished it? You finished it?
We finished from the Alchemist Brotherhood. I was like, damn.
Damn, they're happy you, I know that. I still not watch Full Metal Alchemist.
It's really good.
It's really good.
The ending is really sweet too.
I like the anime.
How does it, so as someone
who watch Full Metal Alchemists
for the first time in 2026.
Am I allowed to give like mild spoilers?
Well, I would normally say yes,
but Gonzi.
Oh, gosh.
Okay.
How do you, how do you think it ranks
compared to like modern anime?
Does it still like, has it aged well?
I think so.
Okay, so you know what's crazy?
I, I, recently,
I feel like in recent years,
I've been having kind of a hard time.
I'm getting into newer anime.
Not that there's anything wrong with them.
I think I'm just like not the target audience anymore.
You get older.
That's the set.
Yeah.
It appeals to your life.
Yeah.
I was like,
there's so much to keep up with.
Like maybe I'm just not,
God forbid.
Maybe I'm just not into anime like I used to be when I was younger.
Like maybe just,
it doesn't light a fire in me anymore.
Yeah.
And then we started watching Flamminal Alchemist Brotherhood.
And I was getting that same feeling of like,
oh my God,
I can't wait to watch the next episode.
And I was like,
Oh, it's not that my interest has changed.
It's just that my interest has been the same since like 2000, whatever.
It's just because I tried reading it when I was in middle school, but I dropped it because it was too dark for me.
Same thing happened with Nana, where I tried reading Nana when I was a kid, but like the themes are too mature for me.
So then I read it.
That is definitely an adult manga.
Yeah, I reread it when I was, it was like two years ago.
And I really enjoyed it.
And I'm like, wow, I don't think it would have been able to appreciate it as much if I,
I were still a kid.
It's really popular of social media now, right, Nana?
Nana, is it?
I always see memes about it.
It's kind of made a resurgence
because it's the same situation as Emily
where it's like, I think a lot of people tried reading
it when they were younger, but that is obviously
among a not for younger audiences.
It's like whenever I see like the performative males memes,
they're like, I've read Nana.
Actually, Didas is one that got me into Nana.
Performative Mata, I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
Nata's goaded.
No, no, it is.
It's like, guys going, I've read Nana.
He had that.
He has...
I get women's struggle.
He has a whole box set in Maine.
And he's like, well, you should read it.
It's really good.
Like, you should try rereading it.
So just one summer I was in Maine
and I just read all afternoon on.
It's so good.
I'm convinced at every toilet dynastus ever owned
is the library of Alexandria.
This motherfucker has a manga of library
in every toilet I've ever seen.
It's ridiculous.
Yes.
I got to know.
How long does he spend it in the toilet?
Because if I was him,
I already spent long enough on the toilet,
I wouldn't leave.
He takes kind of a long while.
He also poops a lot too.
He's the best of my brother right there.
He doesn't poop a lot, he's just reading a lot of mom.
Yeah, that's right.
Anyway, full metal alchemist, keep going.
Oh my God, yes, that's right.
I really liked it.
And then I remember the scene that I cried in was...
Which one?
La, la, la, la, la.
Okay, it was when Colonel Mays Hughes died.
And then right after, okay, right after,
I knew that happened. That's what made me drop the manga when I was 11.
He definitely knows about this.
Oh, okay, okay.
You definitely know about this, spoiler.
Okay, okay.
It's often discussed as a lot.
like the one thing that the original did better than the
the Monre remake. Okay, what is it?
Hugh Mays.
It was a scene after when like Winri receives the news
and the line she says is like, oh, I just...
I learned how to make the apple pie
that his wife makes. I was really hoping that one day he could taste
and I was like, no!
Oh, that's sad. Okay, all good, go.
Yeah, you're fine.
The last thing I heard was, it was really sad
when we're in, we said.
It's like the, no, that's
Hitachi. In the original, the
original anime, the one that didn't do
much. I'd say like the Brotherhood
is pretty much an upgrade in every way. It's the one
thing that I think they did really good. I would go and watch
the scene. Oh, we want to watch
the original because Dida said that
he prefers the...
It gets really dark. Yeah, the
Camara scene in the
original. It also gets really weird because they like
they're like, World War II. You're like,
what? It gets really weird.
Yeah.
Very, very weird, because they've made a random ending.
Yeah.
The original has this merit.
This was back in the day when anime had like anime original endings.
They loved it.
Yeah. Yeah.
And now they don't feel they need to do that anymore
and they just leave it on like a sequel that will
may or may not ever happen, you know?
Yeah.
But it's good to know that it's age well
and you still really, really like it.
I really like it.
I'm gonna watch it one day.
I know it's a meme, but I am.
But yeah, I'm like terrified.
because I'm like, shit, what if I don't like this?
You will, you will like it.
I'd be very surprised.
As I was watching it, I was like,
Gartman would like this.
It's a very good story.
It's everything you like about anime, for sure.
One thing that I've enjoyed about watching
all the shows lately is that like, I feel like
there is a bigger variance in like art stars
that I really like to see, whereas I feel like
in a little bit more new anime, I feel like I'm watching
sometimes the same art.
You know what I loved about Fullman Alchemist?
The Fight Choreo.
Oh, yeah.
Because you know how I'm mental
that like I don't really care for fight scenes very much in Shonan.
I think I realized I don't care that much if 90% of it is effects.
Yeah, I just, I tune out.
Yeah, because we spoke about this.
It's like very flashy now.
Yeah, it's very flashy where it's like you got the like cubes.
Exploning.
You got you got that ch-ch-ch-choo-choo.
The impact frames.
The thing is they look visually stunning.
But like I think for me, I just really liked seeing,
I like that the movements were slower and that you could see the characters like
kind of using the environment.
Yeah, you like the fist to fist.
Like the fist of fit.
Every fight with like Scar is always really fun to watch.
Yeah.
It keeps it close on him and it feels like very martial arts inspired but really cool.
Yeah, it's super cool.
You know what else I've been watching?
Is it your newest obsession?
It's not my obsession.
Okay.
But I started watching Spongebob.
Oh.
Oh.
You started recently.
No, no, no.
No, I watched it during COVID for the first time.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
I've only seen like the first like a few episodes for Anime Club.
Oh, why?
Sponry first.
No.
Yeah, me neither.
It is literally you become, to reference memes,
you become the fucking, I, no, I didn't realize
how many memes are in early SpongeVy.
Yeah, so many.
You can pause at any time in any episode,
it's probably a meme.
There's memes where I thought they were edited
and then I see the frame in the episode.
Like the hyper-realistic ones and shit like that?
Yeah, there's one.
Fucking Patrick.
Yeah, like, sucked off by it.
The one where the, like, the TV screen
at Plankton's Place, it says like,
50% C, 50% weed.
I thought I thought that was an edit for years.
And then I saw in the episode.
I think the one where he's looking out the window is from there as well.
The one where Spongeb goes to like Sandy's house and is really dry.
That one's my favorite.
That was my favorite.
It's so funny.
That episode is one of the best episodes of SpongeBob.
It's such a relatable thing to do.
Pinky!
Pinky!
It's so good.
It's so quotable too.
Are you just going through all of like the Golden Age classics?
I think so.
Yeah, because you guys recently just finished a King of the Hill.
Oh my God, that was last year's show.
Yeah.
That was last year's show.
We finished King of the Hill.
I really liked it.
It feels fun.
I've never seen a single episode.
I've never got King of the Hill.
I say this because I've only watched King of the Hill as a Brit growing up when it was like playing on.
Damn, that's right.
I keep forgetting none of you are American.
Yeah, we don't know.
We don't know that.
Okay.
Never mind.
It's incredibly American humor.
It is like the most American humor.
And this was like before I met Sydney, before anything,
it was just the random American TV show that played on like late night TV.
And I was like, I don't get this humor.
Yeah.
As a Brits.
I literally have all of my information on the Hill just from memes.
Pocket sand.
It's like all I hear.
Or just like, you know, every now and then you hear like the goddamner, Bobby.
Bobby, those kids would be really angry.
Do I look like?
I know what a JPEC is.
It's a really good quotes.
I think everything I've been watching
in the past few years has just been like
stuff I missed out on in my childhood
that like Ditis is reintroducing to me.
You're becoming like the anti-web.
You started off with like a weep upbringing
and now you're like, okay, here's like pop culture.
Yeah, he's everything else.
Back in the day that I miss, you know.
For sure.
Do you think, did you enjoy King of the Hill?
I did.
I mean, there's like 16 seasons or something.
Holy shit.
How many episodes is that?
I don't know, but we, it was like a nightly ritual.
Every, every night when we had dinner, we'd boot up King of the Hill.
Yeah, I remember, so whenever you guys are watching it, because Titus always does this.
Whenever he's watching something, he'll have to tell you he's watching it, but also that you should watch it.
So, like, when you were watching this, every other day I spoke to him, like, Tipty, he'd be like, you wish King of the Hill?
I was like, I don't watch King of the Hill.
He's like, you should watch King of the Hill.
And then it was the Sopranos.
Oh, yeah, you got into the Sopranos.
And every time we play games, you'd be like, hey,
You've seen this a problem?
No, I haven't seen it, Dynus.
But, yeah, okay, what do you think, what is the,
what was the appeal of you for King of the Hill?
Do you just, like, really vibe with the humor or like,
it's more heartwarming than I expect.
Okay, so when I was a kid, I didn't watch it.
Well, number one, I wouldn't appreciate it
because I don't think I would understand the jokes.
Number two, I thought the art was ugly.
But, like, it's charming now, launching it.
That, like, distinct style.
Yeah, because I think I would appreciate it more now because now I know what true American culture is, you know.
I've been to the Midwest, you know.
That was definitely kind of like a wake up call to me to be like, okay, this is what real American culture is, not sometimes what it's portrayed in Hollywood and stuff like that.
And I don't know.
It's like a slice of life.
Is it the American slice of life?
King of the Hill is a slice of life.
King of the Hill is the American slice of life.
Yeah, it is.
Such a great way to describe it.
You've also been watching,
I was gonna say,
witch at Attilia.
Yes.
Yeah, I've watched that too.
I see all the art you've been drawing of that.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
It's so good.
I'm not caught up.
Yeah, it's really good.
What?
Yeah.
Oh.
Oh.
Yeah.
I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about that.
You can I talk about it?
Yeah, you talk about it.
Oh, you saw my Instagram story.
I did, and like, I stopped for a second.
I was like, is this a bit?
I wrote it.
Yeah.
What?
He lost the challenge.
I lost the challenge in a special that's coming out,
and that was my punishment.
Why would you do that to him?
Because I was, originally I was like,
maybe I should do something.
You know the internet will rip him apart.
Oh, and they did, trust me.
Well, originally I was gonna pursue political,
so actually it was better, I think.
Yeah.
Although maybe it was worse, I'm not sure.
Yeah, I don't know, but I got a lot of messages
from friends being like, I believed you.
No, I can't believe you would say that.
I could.
You could believe me?
See, I had to make it believable.
I had to make people think that he actually wrote it.
Yeah, yeah.
Because if it was too obvious, it wouldn't work.
In my head, I was like, I think this is rage bait.
It is.
It is rage bait.
I was like, but also, if Joey straight up said to me,
like, I don't think which had to tell he is good,
I would have been like, okay.
Like, I could see that.
It's like, okay, author me.
Yeah.
Hand clenches.
That's why it was such great rage made
because half the people were just like,
uh, base Joey.
And I'm just like, no, actually, I don't believe that.
It's really good.
That's pretty good.
So yeah, he did a good job on that.
Wow.
That was all corner.
Wow.
Rage bait is an arm.
Evil man.
So I'm here to confirm with you.
It's a very good show.
Oh, yeah.
I really enjoy it.
Yeah.
Just in case the, it wasn't obviously the audio listeners.
I wrote a story on Jerry's story.
Yeah.
I wrote a picture, I took a picture of Joey and I wrote,
which had to tell you is mid.
I don't know why you guys are hyping this up.
Yeah.
And unfortunately, a lot of people believed it.
No.
A lot of people do believe it.
So I look forward to that in the upcoming special.
That's so funny that you stopped.
You're like, bitch, what?
Yeah.
That's not what I heard.
I'm so happy.
That's amazing.
That's so good.
Yeah, so thanks for that, bro.
Appreciate it.
Hey, hey, you like it though.
Yeah, it's fantastic.
It's dumb as that people believed it.
When you were literally the week of on trash taste,
you're like, yeah, I watched it.
It's great.
Yeah.
Who's your favorite character?
Oh, fuck.
I don't know, to be honest.
I thought it'd be Rishay.
I like Rishay, but I don't know if she's my favorite necessarily.
Honestly, I think it might be like as, I think it might be Coco.
I really like Coco as a character.
Like, as a main character.
I've finished season one.
You finished season one?
Yeah.
Where is it over now?
No, it's not over yet.
Well, I've caught up, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm on episode nine, I think, or something.
Who's your favorite?
My favorite.
What did you guys think about the,
the fucking scene in, was it like episode six?
With the dragon?
With the dragon?
Yeah.
Yeah, my God.
I mean, I remember you talked about it on the anime club,
so I was looking forward to it.
And then when I watched, I was like, God, was cooking.
He knows ball.
God, the scene when he comes out with the pen
and it just like past the sky.
So good.
That's such an incredible scene.
I love the whole sequence, though,
and I think it's episode seven or eight
when they have to, like, save someone in the water.
But that, that whole thing felt,
like a plant. It's like, what the hell does a kid doing going in the water? What the hell is he doing?
All this felt like stage. They're like, oh no, help us. We're drowning.
How did you get the carriage down there? How did you do that? But, yeah, I thought that whole episode
is really cool. But I've been really enjoying the show and I'm glad that it's already in the start,
which was what I was hoping I mentioned to you. I wanted the show to kind of go down this
kind of more, you know, kind of debate of the who deserves magic and why is it getting
Yeah. And I thought it was really interesting. We already started seeing Kifri kind of
start doing some unsavory things to keep the secrets. And you're like, oh, hell yeah.
My morally great king.
Let's go. Hi, Michael Ruggio.
Hi, of course, of course. Is it a-
Why are you laughing? This is not surprising. Blackhead characters?
Yeah. The moment I saw Kifrey, I'm like,
Ellen's not going to like that.
White hair, out of the question.
Oh, it looks disheveled.
Looks like he doesn't get enough sleep.
Is it?
He looks like his emotional baggage.
Yeah, you gotta fix it.
Gremlin energy.
He's the most unc, unc, I've ever seen.
I know.
Yeah.
What a man.
He's what I aspire to be at that age, you know?
Just kind of like, just fucking chill.
Yeah.
He seems like he's got to figure out.
He's like, I just make light stones.
I don't know.
Just fucking light things up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
See.
I'm excited.
I don't want to read the manga, though.
The anime's so good that I don't want to, although I really want to know where it's going.
The art in the manga is so good.
It is.
I'm glad the anime is as pretty as it is, because I remember when I first got announced,
I was like, how the hell are they going to adapt, like, how beautiful the linework is in the manga.
And the anime looks incredible.
It's like movie quality every episode.
I love to do all the storybooks, too, and the different animation styles.
It's like, oh, my God, breath fresh air.
Yeah.
This is so beautiful to look at.
Yeah, it makes Lord Doms way more interesting.
seem to look out than just like that.
Yeah, true.
I guess sometimes the Lord dumps can be a bit excessive, right?
How do you get people to care?
Yeah.
You're like waiting for the next flashy moment.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But they did a really good job and everything in the show has been amazing so far.
I'm excited to see.
Hopefully we don't have to wait too long season two.
I know.
I know.
I'm worried about it.
I'm hoping they just announced season two, just like right off the bat, you know?
Yeah.
Just don't want a one punch man scenario.
Yeah, we went all out in the first season.
No, no.
We weren't all out.
We'd burn out.
No.
I don't think they will, no.
No.
I hope not.
Well, this is the same studio, the Zom 100s?
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes.
They did not handle that production while.
No.
Unfortunately, they kind of, they had an amazing couple of first episodes.
We had an amazing couple of first episodes.
And then the last three episodes were delayed so long that they had to air in a, like, a separate season.
Because they didn't have the TV slots to air the episodes.
So we had to wait, like, four months to get the finale.
Just turn, get it.
Yeah, but I mean, I think they've learned their lesson from Zon 100.
Yeah, yeah, and it seems like it's all going great, and hopefully there's enough funding and people really want it.
Yeah.
I think so, yeah.
It's definitely the most talked about.
Yeah.
Is there anything else you're watching playing recently?
No.
So, first of all, I want to talk about the, you've made the eight love and deep space videos, right?
Yes.
Is that like you're going to make more videos or you, because you sound like you're like, I got to start.
I want to move on to other things.
I want to move on to other things.
How many of the videos
in the last two years
of Love and D-Space?
Eight.
No, no, no.
Like you've only made eight videos.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Because you've done like other videos too,
but like what's the breakdown of like,
if Emily uploads a video?
Fuck.
Um.
Is there more Love and D-Space videos than not?
Welcome aboard via rail.
Please sit and enjoy.
Please sit and sit.
Play.
Post.
Taste.
Mm.
View.
and enjoy
via rail
love the way
the fact that you've
have to think about that
pull up
it up
it's like either
love in deep space
or a cafe
right
or food
honestly yeah
it's just
love and do space
academy cafes
love in do space
anime cafes
um
I've
you know
yeah
yeah
I can't
I think it's a mix
yeah
I can't help it
I can't help it.
But look, here's the truth, right,
is that people watch you because they like your personality
and they like the way you tell stories.
So I don't think it matters what you upload.
I think people just want to see you have fun and be passionate about us.
Yeah, exactly.
I appreciate that.
Like, luckily, my viewers, I've been so nice about it.
Like, almost too nice.
I'm like, you can tell me if you want me to, like, move on other stuff.
But they'll be like, oh, I don't play this game,
but, you know, I like hear you yap about it.
So, like, go ahead.
But also as a viewer, it's like, okay, well,
I might not be into this lemonade space thing,
but you'll talk about America.
American food next week and that's cool.
See, the thing is, I don't even mean to talk about food that much.
I really don't.
I don't even...
We do it every week as well, so.
I don't consider myself like a foodie or anything.
No one does.
But I feel like...
Wait what?
No one does.
No one watches your videos thinking you're a food.
No, no.
That's not what I meant.
That is not what I meant.
That is not what I meant.
I thought that's what you meant.
That's what you meant.
Let the coldest burn.
It's like no one, actually no one does.
No one considers what I meant to me.
No one considers themselves a foodie when they start off.
You know, they just enjoy food.
Yeah, right.
But I think also, I feel like the only thing I got going on in my life
is like, Oshikatsu and like eating, you know what I mean?
The simple life.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that's fair, as long as it makes you happy.
So where'd you go from here?
here after, have you made your last anime cafe video or do you plan on making more?
There's somebody I make it. Yeah. I don't know. See, the way I do it is just like,
if I, if I feel inspired to like make a video on a particular topic, I'll just go for it.
Yeah. Um, I see you've obviously been doing spilled ink a lot now too. Yeah, that too. Yeah,
which is great. So there's that as well. You know, very busy year. Yeah. Because like,
did you ever go through a phase where I,
I'm sure like a lot of story time YouTubers go through this phase where they just kind of like run out of stories to tell or run out of like life law that they can tell.
Well, I think a lot of the life lore I have left is stuff I'm just not comfortable talking about like on like a public platform.
Yeah.
So like sometimes people are like, oh, did you run out of stories?
I'm like, I just don't have any that are like comfortable to share.
Yeah.
Like I'll give a quick example.
I won't get into it because I don't want to open that can of worms.
but like a lot of my life growing up was spent in the church.
So a lot of, I have a lot of church stories,
but I kind of, I don't want to delve into that.
Yeah.
Just in case he's out there.
You don't want to upset him.
Also, like, for the record, like, I'm not religious,
but my parents are.
And, like, they watch my stuff.
Like, I don't want to make them sad, you know?
Right, right, right.
Like, what would you gain from making that video?
Exactly.
Like, putting strain on that relationship.
Is it worth seeing people argue in my,
comment section. I don't think so. And like I'm not saying that like oh if you talk about
your like past religious experiences. It's like you're bringing bad negative negative energy.
I'm like you know people will talk about it like I commend it because I don't have the courage
to it's an individual's choice. Yeah. You could be one of them like you know how when they leave
the Mormon churches they do like a bus feed video they're like why are so interesting.
They're like why like Christianity maybe isn't as interesting you're like yeah you shouldn't really
gel at that anymore.
All right.
Yeah.
There's really interesting there.
But they were so dramatic the thumbnail why I left the church.
Yeah, yeah.
Sorry,
I'm getting excited back.
Go ahead.
Just call out Johnny Harris.
Hey,
I'll watch it.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
I will watch them.
That is literally like the first one and then you fall into the rabbit
hole of that.
There's a lot of people who talk about it.
Yeah.
I do.
Actually, I do.
So, you know how I used to make those like childhood crush videos?
Yeah.
That's like, that's my, I peaked at childhood crushers, too.
I've accepted that fact.
Like, long ago.
That's my magnum opus.
But the reason why I stopped doing those is because I feel like at a certain point,
you kind of just hear the same crushes.
Because I'm talking with other fellow millennials who grew up with the exact same media.
You're going to hear repeats.
However, I feel like now I want to talk about like adult fictional crushes.
Like, maybe I don't want to give an example.
I'm scared.
Look, I've admitted to way more embarrassing.
Okay.
Some of my friends think I'm crazy for this.
Is Steve Carell not hot?
No, I think Steve Grohl's hot.
Okay, thank you.
He's got a youthful energy to him.
No, it's a salt and pepper hair.
Okay, well, Emily, I wasn't going for that point.
Oh.
You just want a man that's old.
No!
She's like, salt and pepper is close to black hair,
and it can be black.
No, Steve Cross energy is attractive to me.
Yeah. To me.
I feel like, I don't know, I feel like
women always have, like, more interesting answers
when it comes to like adult crushes as a lot of times
because they're you find like a lot more varied answers
whereas men are just like way too simple sometimes you know
you think so I don't know I think it depends because like you know we've been seeing that huge wave of like
girl is crushing on like Pedro Pascal and shit like that and I feel like every girl on the internet is like oh my god Pedro Pascal so hot
and it's like two years ago what the fuck I haven't seen this in a while right now I've been seeing a lot of like Ryan Gosling from
because he's always called because he's always been hot
He's like, I love Procter Hail Mary, but damn, bro, is not a scientist.
He's too, he's too distractingly hot.
When I first watched the movie with Ditis, I was like, he's too hot for this role.
Because he's supposed to be like, a loser failure.
I have nobody in my life. I'm like, I don't believe that.
Like, this is not a boy failure.
Why are you trying to sell this boy failure image to me, you know?
I love, I don't know why, why is there an abundance of Ryan Gosling reaction images?
like, there's so many, like, images of him doing things
that are great for, like, sending.
Like, there's one I always see, and it's him at the beach.
It's like me when, me when I, it's, I can't remember what it was.
I have not seen these.
I haven't seen these either.
There's one that I literally see all the fucking time.
And at the caption, it'll be like, how it feels
to have that one friend who can't say no to alcohol.
And it'll be like, this one, this fucking.
Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I haven't, I haven't seen this.
No, no, it's like, click video.
Yeah, play the video.
There's like, you're this one.
I think it might be this one.
Oh, like, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
It's like always like...
How it feels when that red flag is you?
There's like so many of them.
I haven't seen me.
What the fuck I see this all the time.
Like so many different captions.
Ryan Gosling's just one of those actors where it's like
he has that like kind of wave of meme potential
because you know, you know, we all remember the fucking Ryan Gosling
eating cereal memes.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, the Blade Runner.
The Blade Runner on.
Yeah.
Yeah. Just something about his behavior that's just like very memeable.
He doesn't have a memeable face.
He doesn't have a memeable face.
Like Anthony Starr and Homelander.
He's like somebody...
Oh yeah.
That's right.
Yeah.
I was thinking of...
Yeah.
I was thinking about that one.
Homeander cheeks blood.
Yeah.
The audio listeners is the one where like he fucking...
He's like...
You're like...
Yeah.
It's so fucking ridiculous.
Why isn't it edited so well?
Yeah, the original image is crazy too.
Yeah.
I can love this footage.
Oh my God.
Oh, my God, bro.
The edits are so funny.
It cracks me up.
He just has a good reaction.
He does so many.
He farms them.
Oh, my God.
I mean, he's also,
he also just had an amazing performance
as the character.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I feel like the emotional range
of the character
really played to like the meme,
the meme master.
of it. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Why do you think, you know, think, thinking about Ryan Gosling playing the boy failure. Why do you think boy failures and girl failures are so fucking popular? Because it's relatable. Is that the thing? I think. Does everyone want to be a, does everyone want to be a boy failure? I think everyone feels like a boy failure. Oh, God. Everyone, everyone, I think people want to root for a character who succeeds in spite of them being a boy failure or girl failure. You should do childhood crushes, but like everyone you interview should be like, the,
the next generation down, like the Gen Z.
Oh my God, no, that'll send me spiraling.
Cloud being so, who is my childhood crush.
That's gonna send me spiraling.
I'd be so interested to be like,
okay, we've heard all the answers in our generation.
Yeah, yeah.
What is it like the generation down?
I actually would love to hear that.
Yeah, that'd be really interesting.
Like what are the popular,
Gojo obviously, that's gotta be one of them.
Oh, I guess so.
I don't know, yeah, Goetheed for you.
Yeah, I feel like, wouldn't we all anime characters now?
Oh, probably.
I feel like probably yeah.
Yeah.
I feel like JJ Kier is kind of a stranglehold
of a like pop culture for like youth.
I don't know, I feel like an old person saying youth.
The youngans.
You know what experience I had recently that like
Oh no.
Had me feeling like.
I'd love to hear.
So I was getting lunch with Ditis.
And this was when I,
so I had gotten my nails done
and they were all Carcaptor soccer theme.
So I had like a different character on each nail.
It was beautiful.
Oh no.
And I was eating at a cafe with Ditis.
And as I was checking out,
The girl who was checking, checking, checking us out?
Checking me out, give me the bill.
Yeah.
How do I phrase it to not sound weird?
Cashy lady.
Caching me out.
Cashing me out.
Giving me the bill.
She's checking you out, I think, right?
Okay.
She looked to be like college age maybe, like definitely younger,
but like old enough to work a part-time job, right?
So she pointed out of my nails, she's like, oh, I'm Vitticoi!
And I was like, ah, hi!
And she's like, oh, I'm gonna ski this gone.
And I was like, oh, hi.
Hi. And I was like, oh, holda, shout-on to Soakras.
Because I had Sharon on one thumb, soccer on the other.
And she just goes, eh?
And I'm like, what do you mean?
What do you mean?
This is Cardcaptor soccer.
This is one of the most iconic Mohoho anime a long time.
What are you talking about?
What?
And then she like turned to look at her coworker.
And I think she said something like, oh, like, Shinaai.
Like, I don't know what that is.
And I was like, how do you Shira Nai?
This is Carfactor Salker.
What are you mean she and I? What? I'm like, is this how like, is this how creamy mommy fans felt in like the 2000s? Yeah, when they found, when they found out the new generation just said like, no, I don't know. I don't know. I was shocked. I was like, there's no way. Like who? Who's creamy mommy?
It's another magical girl before like an older magical girl. Damn, okay. Between caught cap to soccer and sailor moon, that was cream mommy. Oh, okay. I. I, yeah. I.
She's not a great name in English.
Crazy, Molly.
Oh, okay, I do recognize this, yeah.
I just thought, yeah, I thought, like, I don't know,
I thought Card Captor Saka was just so iconic
that there's no way you wouldn't know.
I actually think outside of, like, pretty die-hard anime fans,
like, only Sailor Moon, really, you don't know about the...
Yeah, I'd say, like, yeah, most anime fans,
I feel only know Sailor Moon and maybe, like, Madoka.
But even that, I was Madoka, not really outside of...
Yeah, not really, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, Matican fans, yeah.
Magical girls just don't have the same popularity as I think they did in the 90s, unfortunately.
Yeah, the goats are washed, unfortunately.
Everyone just wants to watch Jujits Kaizen, thirst over Gojo.
Yep. The showjo genre is kind of in its dire straits, I feel.
Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately.
I think, I imagine though that it's kind of coming back, because it's like a big resurgence in like, I don't know what the term for it is.
Obviously, like, Gatto culture is like huge now.
Oh, the Y2K stuff.
Like Y2K. I think like big, pretty pink.
is coming back. I am loving that the Y2K look is coming back. Yeah. I mean, garrows are coming back,
but they're mostly mainly focused on like male-centric shows. Like there's, there's a
garage show. I'm actually like a pop culture as well. Oh, okay. Yeah, like that cheetah print,
the pink cheetah print. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. But also, yeah, like you mentioned,
there are more shows than have it performed as far. Yeah, yeah. I mean, there's a garrie show
airing this, this season. And I think ever since, it's not Maron Kittigawa, but yeah, I remember
The amount of attention dress up darling got.
And then after dress up darling,
there's like so many Gary romance
shows now. Well, I think like it should be
a romance and the girl is Garrow
as opposed to, look, guys, she's Gadrow. That's the whole point
of the show. Yeah. Yeah.
For no reason.
And she wants me. I feel like that makes
a lot more compelling characters to follow like Matt Marin, right?
I think like the fact that she is Garrow
but that has nothing to do really with like
what the show is. Yeah.
Yeah. I think that's more impactful.
Yeah.
Look, it's the Garrow show.
It's I got reincarnated into the world of Gatos.
And it's like, okay.
Fine, I guess.
Gals can't be kind to otakus.
Oh, my God.
And the title is AIDS.
What's the age?
It's AIDS, dude.
Are we at 25?
It sucks.
That title sucks.
God, can we come up with some creative titles, please?
Fuck me.
I mean, that's a lot of modern anime titles, Joey.
Is this why you stop watching anime?
That's why I can't take half of modern anime seriously
because it's fucking titles like this.
Well, it's interesting how in the West...
It's like I know the entire premise of this anime,
just purely based off the title.
In the West, right, we had to shorten titles
because, you know, back in the day when you had the TV, right?
Remember the, a little like...
Oh, is that why they did that?
Yeah, because, like, you can't see what the fucking title is
if it's too long, because it goes...
You know, the boxes?
So they had to shorten everything to like...
lost, 24, prison break.
You know, everything's really like.
Oh, I thought they did that
because they wanted like more memorable titles.
No, I think it was to, mostly, I think a big fit was like,
your thing used to fit in the...
I mean, it probably helps as well to make it memorable, right?
Did you actually have any sources of this?
I read it, I read it.
I don't have a source ready, let's Google it.
I was like, I don't know enough about this something.
What's it called?
Did they shorten TV shows for DVR?
Abbreviate.
Abbreviate...
It's DVR, right?
That's what it was called?
The system?
I don't know.
I often abbreviate, like, law and order for efficiency and rapid communication.
Short-hand allows, okay?
Okay, so kind of, yeah.
Okay.
Kind of, maybe.
This is also an AI overview as well.
Yeah, that's true.
I mean, also, you know, as Emily was saying, like, I feel like shorter titles also help with just, like, it being memorable and just easy to remember, right?
Well, I think a lot of anime titles are like this, just because it's literally how they title, how we title YouTube videos.
right?
Yeah.
Because when they started off as like manga or light novels,
you kind of have to stand out some way.
Yeah.
And so you just kind of like almost click bait.
It's all SEO driven now.
Yeah, yeah.
Especially with like the kind of the not okay kind of like movement.
It was like you needed the title to be clickbait
in order for you, the audience even click on your show or your story.
And then you end up with titles like these, unfortunately,
which are not optimized at all.
Take us back, bro.
Take us back to the one word.
Take it back to the one word titles.
I miss that shit.
Easy remember.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's why Shonen Jump never needs to go through this problem.
Because it's like, you're part of Shonen Jump.
You're already going to be published.
Yeah.
You're going to already have eyes on you.
The longest Shonan Jump will go is the something of something.
That's it.
Nothing longer than that.
Yeah.
Or just have the main character name as a title.
Yeah.
One thing that I realized we haven't spoke about yet is that you guys worked on a manga.
Oh, yeah.
You didn't work on a manga.
It was a manga submission for a contest.
Oh, that's fucking awesome.
Yeah.
You submitted a market to a competition.
It wasn't like a full market.
It was one shot, but hey, it was fucking cool.
Yeah, that's cool.
Yeah, that's cool.
Thank you, thank you.
You want to talk about?
No, no, thank you.
Oh yeah, sure.
Yeah, yeah.
I watched the video, it was very sweet.
Obviously, gone reacting is always very wholesome.
And, you know, watching you guys share the work.
It was really cool.
It was very, very hard.
Yay, thank you.
It was a really good experience.
I feel like I leveled up from it.
Yeah?
Yeah, I feel like, I was actually worried
because I was like, I know how much work this is going to take.
I know how busy you guys are.
So I was like, I was, I was preparing the like,
ah, it's okay, you guys didn't, you know, end up finishing it.
At least we got, at least we managed to do a project together.
And the fact that you finished, how many pages was it in the end?
It was like 40.
Like 40 pages.
Damn.
Traditionally inked by the way.
Yeah.
I was like, holy shit, Emily, you fucking walked in.
That was, that was an incredible month of just like pure work.
So, congrats on like,
I say congrats.
No, no, come to you as well.
You're part of the project too.
And you're enditis.
Yeah, and ditis as well.
Like, you guys locked in and I feel like I didn't see you guys much for a month.
And I, you know, totally understandable.
And I think you should, I mean, I'm proud of the final work.
And I think you should be as well.
Yeah.
I was really nervous.
Because I was like, oh, like, what if, I don't know, just like, what if?
No, we're just fucking, what?
Because it's like, I'm trying like a new medium.
Yeah.
And like, but it was really good experience.
And I was really surprised actually at the number.
of people who were commenting like, oh, I cried watching the episode.
And at first I was like, BS. No, you didn't.
Like, they're just saying that to be nice.
And like, like, I get it.
They're trying to be nice.
But I didn't think it was like a genuine comment.
But then I would start receiving messages from like friends who were like, oh, I watched
your spilling episode with Gar and it made me cry.
I was like, why?
What?
Really?
I think because I spent so much time with it that any emotional impact you would get from like, like,
like a, like reading it for the first time.
I mean, there's no surprise.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
There is no surprise anymore.
And I think when I first read it, it had been a while since I visited that story, I guess, in my mind, you had been living with it every day for.
I think, how long were you working on it?
Like, full time?
I think, like, a month?
Like, it felt like a month.
Like, you were a month just drawing these characters, living this story.
And I'm exactly the same when I finished writing it.
I was like, when I pitched it to you guys, I was like, I don't even know if this is a good story.
I hope, I hope Emily and I just like it.
We really liked it.
I was like, oh, fantastic.
And I was like, uh, maybe, maybe it's not as good as what I remember.
And then even when I was like reading it for the first time
in a while, I was like, all right, they fucking nailed it.
Cause I, I got emotional reading the ending.
And, uh, and I wrote the story.
But, uh, that's how you know you cooked, bro.
I just just, just see you guys, bring the characters to life
and bringing the story to life was like such a magical feeling.
So you guys, you guys did a great job.
I think like, obviously,
Because we're YouTubers, right, we're always kind of forced to be somewhat creative for our jobs.
But, you know, that's kind of a given.
And then to, you know, it's easy to do the same thing and keep doing it and making the same videos.
But I think it was, probably resonate with a lot of people.
It's like, hey, you guys, it's obvious you guys push yourself out of your comfort zone.
You did something that wasn't, you know, it's not clickbait.
It's not like saying that'll get you a ton of reward.
It's like you just do it for the passion.
I think that people will look and see that.
So I think that resonates with you.
Yeah.
To see you guys, like, put yourself out there.
And especially put your art out there.
which is like a reflection of yourself.
Yeah.
And it pisses me off when Didas is like,
my background's a bad.
I like that.
Dress.
Dress is good.
Just suck.
Yeah.
Be proud.
Yeah.
Drop everything.

What pairs with Reacher on Prime?
Reaching for a sparkling punch delivered with Prime.
It's an unbelievable feeling
when you're enjoying a punch.
At the same time, Reacher is enjoying punching.
people. Wow, he's still punching people. Entertainment meets fast delivery. It's on Prime.
What do you think, okay, now that it's all over, what do you think was like the hardest part
of like this entire process? What did you find the most challenging?
I'm trying to remember like picking through my memories. Yeah, it honestly was. It was.
I think like just trying to do it fast was the hardest part
because it's like traditional inking
you kind of have to be careful
because if you mess up you have to bring out the white out
which takes up more time.
There's no control Z.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's no lasso tool you just have to get it right.
Does it look like you've whited it out too?
Is it like obvious?
So when you scan it, you don't see it.
Oh.
Which is why, side note,
it's one of the reasons why I love going to manga exhibits
where they show the manga because original pages.
It's like all beat off and white out.
You see the white out.
You see the blue pencil marks that don't get picked up by the scans.
And it kind of makes it feel more human.
Like, whoa, you can see like where they effed up and had to redraw them out.
The chinks in the armor.
Like, you get to see, like, the process.
Yeah.
And it's so cool.
Like, I love seeing just the little, like, scuff marks that they make.
And funny, but it's funny because, like, even though I really appreciate seeing it and other people's work,
every time I had to bring out the white out, I was like, God damn.
I was going to run there right the first time.
Now it's going to look ugly.
So what do you, how did you find, now this all over, how did you find the storyboarding
aspects of it? Because, I think that was most fun for me actually.
That was the most fun. Yeah, the storyboarding part was the most fun.
I think to me that's, aside from writing the story, that's what required like the most
brain power to have to review the story boards to be like, is this the best way the story's
presented? I don't know. Now I'm like double, now I'm like double questioning myself, you know,
in terms like so many like little details. Oh, so did you, when you're working on it, did Garn, like,
say like, hey, I think the scene will look like this or is it like you just gave the story
and you just came up with the storyboard.
What was the process?
So the process was we storyboarded part of it.
And then so as I was doing it, I would bring each page to dietist to be like, what do you
think?
Because like he reads a lot of manga.
So he kind of has a good idea of like, oh, the bubble should be here better for like
the following the eyeline.
And then I think, yeah, we should Gart the final storyboard.
And then he would make some notes and then we would change some pages and like some orders
of the panels.
Yeah, because I wrote it like a screenplay, right?
Of course.
But unfortunately, manga and anime are two different mediums, right?
And I think a mistake that people can think about manga is that treating, it's that they treat it like it's storyboards for the anime.
It's because it's a different storytelling medium and you need to consider like different things as well.
Unfortunately, my brain is just like program for anime.
So, like, a big challenge when reviewing Emily's storyboards was like, I had the film playing out in my heads.
And I was like, which part of these films should, like, should be shown on paper and which parts should be like implied.
And it's, it's, it was a really interesting balancing act.
And I've learned a lot from just reviewing your storyboards and just seeing how, like, the way I envisioned
the story kind of like translated into paper as well and seeing your interpretation of like some
the story as well. Yeah, because panel flowing is like such a subtle art, right? Because like people
don't think about it when you're reading manga that like the way that your eye tracks go,
you know, from panel to panel is so important to not only understanding what you're even
looking at, but to even connect two different panels together to give it more context. And that,
that like very subtle eye movement is like really fucking hard to make and make cohesive, you know.
It's very frustrating when you read a manga and the panel isn't laid out easily to follow.
Yeah.
You're like, fuck.
It's like no matter how, like, good the story is or the good the characters are or how much you're into it, if it flows incorrectly or flows in a way that's very jarring, then you're immediately like taken out of the whole thing, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Would you want to make more stories or more manga?
I do.
I think this project actually gave me kind of a bit of like a confidence boost and like wanting to draw my own like little one shot story.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do it.
Have you do you have any ideas? You don't have to say them here. I do. Yeah. I have like a little
notebook where I like I've already planned out like how many chapters it's going to be what's going to happen in each chapter. And then recently in like a spielding episode, Dytas and I were creating like original characters. Yeah. So he was creating like a really cool original character based off a mantis shrimp. And oh hell yeah. She looks so cool. And then I was designing the characters that I would have in the short story that I was working on. So it was a good creative brainstorming process.
Actually, that was like a really challenging process as well, character design.
How did you find the character design process in this particular work?
I feel like it's more fun, I think, in a collaborative setting.
Right.
It's fun to be like, ooh, which outfit between these outfits?
Which hair do you like to impress?
Yeah, no, literally, yeah, dressed to impress, basically.
But then if it's just me, it's like, well, what do I think looks better?
I don't know.
Yeah.
I just want to have something.
Yeah, because it's so weird because I know.
are like a lot of people, they create like OCs and they try to like frame like a story around
that OEC, right? Whereas I've always come into it from like the complete opposite angle where I have
a story and then I have characters that kind of like fits into the story. But a lot of the times I know
the character's characteristics. I know they're, you know, I know what their personality personally like,
but I don't always have like a clear like image of like what they look like. No, I'm the same way. I could
like come up with a whole lore and not have a single clue what the character looks like or even
their name like even i don't even have names for my main characters like in my notes
do names matter for the characters that much yes yeah they're your babies um i i um
when i named uh rind and daichi i think i said this on the podcast but they came out of a name
generator.
Yeah.
And they were temporary names
until you are
far enough into the project
where you realize that that's just...
But any name could have fit then
and become the name, right?
Any name you would have become attached to
through the process, because you would have associated
that name with the character.
What if your name was in Connor?
Do you feel... Does he look like a Connor?
He does.
Dude, I have the most Connor white boy
energy at all the time.
Do you feel like
the way
you name... Like, when your parents named you,
Do you feel like subconsciously, they were like,
okay, subconsciously, now you're like,
I'm a Connor.
Do you have any almost names,
like something you were almost named
before they settled for Connor?
Yeah, there was some, I can't remember what they were there,
but I really told me.
Like I wish I remember.
But you've probably had moments, right,
where you've like looked at a person,
you don't know their name and you're just like,
that's a Kevin.
It's like, well, what happened?
Did they miswrite Grant?
It's a Thai name, actually.
I don't know, I'm being rude.
I'm being weird.
Very culturally insensitive.
I'm being racist.
I was like, where are we going with this gonna?
Why is gone catching straight, bro?
I heard to you, I had to.
Because I don't know if,
I don't know if Bond would have been the same
if they were like Bob and Claire, you know?
Four kids names.
Yeah, some four kids ass names, you know.
Clay? Claire.
I mean, like, even when it came to like the name,
like, generator, it wasn't like the first name.
Right, right.
I just kept like clicking and I'm like,
I didn't do the first one, okay?
Yeah, I didn't take the first one.
I was like, that kind of fuel.
like the vibe of what I'm going for, you know.
Because like sometimes you have like their characteristic.
Okay, let's let's do, let's do an example.
Okay.
So let's make up a character.
Let's say he's a gruff, middle age man.
Tough on the outside.
Maybe has, maybe has like a soft heart on the inside.
Maybe he's like a bar owner or something like that.
You know, can you kind of envision?
Yeah, yeah, you couldn't call him like,
All right, let's think of a name.
Jonathan.
Let's think of a name.
Does Eric?
No.
Not really.
No, that's what I mean, right?
That's like, like, you have, you have, you have this character in mind.
There's a vague image when you think of all.
Are you saying that we are all assigned at birth, our role, depending on our name?
I, there must be something subconscious about it.
Well, as Joseph the 6th, that I kind of was, actually.
I was actually signed my name.
If Gant implies, you know, you know, you, you know,
gone, maybe doesn't sound like you would be a rough trucker in the middle of Arizona.
Could you never live out your dreams of being a trucker in Arizona?
I'm sure you could, but there must be some subconscious bias to it, right?
So, like, you have a name and you have a characteristic that's kind of like associated
with that name.
It's like people who are called baker are like slightly more higher chances of becoming a baker.
Yeah.
Wait, really?
Google this.
I thought that just meant the ancestors were like in the baking profession.
Yeah.
Yeah, but there's also something that happens when our name is.
like, I'm sure if you heard Baker, Baker, Baker, Baker,
and then it was like, what job do you want to be when you go off?
Oh, make bread.
There's probably like a small part.
Yeah, this is their one.
Are you more likely to be a baker if your name is a baker?
Well, this is like...
All right, this is like way too philosophical.
Yeah.
Carly, can you go to a list of like male names?
Because like...
Well, this changes depending on the time a lot.
Um...
Because I think like Bob,
was like the goat for a while.
Yeah, yeah.
So, so this, this is like literally what I go through,
what I, like, make characters where you kind of just like,
okay, you have, so, so this, this gruff kind of like bar owner,
you go down, you're like, what, what does he kind of sound like?
And you don't want to, you don't want to name that feels too generic either.
So you just kind of, like, go down a list
until you kind of, like, something will just, like, kind of like,
jump out of you.
There's no way there's two million Charleses.
I just don't, I don't believe that.
I haven't even met, like,
one Charles in my life.
That's true.
And it just makes me think, like,
damn, how much pressure am I gonna be?
Jeffrey Stokes must be down.
There is no.
Jeffrey.
There ain't no Jeffrey.
Jeffrey.
Jeffrey Starks must have plummeted.
Benjamin as well, I imagine.
And then it just makes me think,
damn.
Jeffrey Starks are down.
There's no way, no.
Sorry, I'm gonna fucking laugh too much.
I get a...
Raymond.
There's that many Raymond's there?
This doesn't feel right.
I'm not gonna lie with you.
I knew a couple of Raymond's growing up.
I've never met a single Dennis in my life.
My uncle's name is Dennis.
Raymond is more popular than Aaron, Tyler Jerry.
I don't know, I feel like...
Or Peter?
Or Noah?
Noah?
It might be a generation thing as well, obviously, you know?
Yeah.
Because I know Noah is a really popular name now.
Oh.
Like among kids now.
I'm gonna say it.
I'm crazy.
Can you type in
most popular baby names per year?
Because there's like people that...
Oh, there you go, for 2025.
2025.
What are the most popular names?
The most popular name in the U.S.
I think is Liam, right?
Yeah.
Liam?
Liam.
Liam, Noah, Oliver.
Theodore?
Oh, I know a little kid named Theodore.
Really?
That tracks.
Really?
Enrique.
Mateo?
Mateo.
Mateo?
I heard a lot of Mateo's.
Really?
You have?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Is it's a little.
Is it's a little?
Oh.
Is it?
A Christian reference?
Is it?
Maybe.
I don't know.
I feel like Mateo is like a...
I was going to say a condiment.
I meant...
A condiment.
Yeah, is a Christian and Bible reference.
Oh, okay.
I did not know that.
Yeah.
Oh, it's just a Spanish version of Matthew.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, okay.
Right.
That's probably why.
Levi and Brawl.
Brawl.
Sebastian?
No, I know two baby Sebastian's now.
Sorry, I've heard of Sebastian.
Levi, though.
That has to be Levi from Attack on Titan, probably.
You think so?
You think so?
Well, no, it's naming their fucking kid after jeans, gone.
What if they just really like jeans?
There are two kinds of people.
People who named babies after the Bible and anime can't do.
Yeah, it just makes you think now, that's, you know,
if I have kids, that's a lot of pressure to, like...
If you had a daughter, would you name her Rinn?
I wouldn't, mostly because I don't want her.
to, you know, I don't know, to me, it'd be weird to have my daughter also have like a...
Oh, like an anime counterpart?
Yeah, like an anime counterpart, you know?
Okay, yeah, yeah.
I don't know how, if I, if, for example, if it was me and my dad was like, yeah, I made a character and you're named after my character.
You're named after my O.C.
I'm like, dad, I'm the second.
I came second up.
You're my imaginary character.
You're my Iero OCE.
Joey's the sixth, man.
No, that's different.
He's, uh, that's a bloodline.
Yeah, that's a bloodline.
Yeah.
Oh my lord.
Yeah, dude.
So now it's more pressure on me that I have to call my son Joseph.
Because I'm breaking a sixth generation bloodline.
It's not like the world is going to run out of Joseph's anytime.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well.
So I'm just like, fuck, fuck the bloodline.
But also like when you're this far down, you're like the sixth, right?
Yeah.
With every generation, the pressure mounts.
You want to be the combo breaker.
You know, you're like,
fuck.
I'm thinking maybe to just make Joseph like the middle name.
you know, keep it alive in some way.
But maybe not the first, I don't know.
Okay.
I don't know.
Fetch sitting a baby's name already.
I don't want to completely kill her, but, you know.
Sorry.
Oh, I'm just antagonizing you.
I apologize.
No, but.
How do we get on baby names?
Oh, we're talking about OCs.
Yeah, because, uh, I know Didas has a lot of OCs, right?
He has a good handful.
Yeah, because, uh, every time, you know,
sometimes, like,
I see some like the character creation kind of like spilling that you do.
And damn, he he has a lot of ideas for different, for different OCs.
Not to talk about OCs, maybe other character.
Did you see the new League of Legends champion?
No.
You should see his design.
Why?
He looks familiaria.
What?
I didn't know that was a new.
I have not kept up with league stuff.
Should you go images?
Can we hold?
Don't tell me.
Let me take a look.
What's his name?
That's not.
Joe's name.
He looks very familiar to another character.
He does?
Yeah, everyone compared him to Nanami from, uh,
Oh, he does have kind of the Anami vibes, yeah.
Oh, I see.
Brother, I'm too old for this.
I saw that and I was like,
it's kind of vash and stampy.
With like, with like, with like,
everyone was just like,
League of Legends, Anami, sorry I didn't bring up
because I have the original character, original.
Are you gonna play him?
I'm not playing league, bro.
Yeah.
Are you still playing TFT?
I'm Emerald 3.
What the fuck?
You're noted, bro.
You're going crazy.
I treat.
I treat TFT like a smoke break.
Or I'm like, I've done enough drawing.
Let me play quick TFC.
Or if I'm like doing a really boring part of my video, like I'm just coloring, I'll have TFT on the second screen.
I do miss it.
I haven't played since October.
I keep track like an alcoholic.
I'm like, I'm clean since October.
When are you going to relapse?
Dude, I'm already so bad.
Because some days I'm like,
sometimes I don't even have it installed on my PC League of Legends.
I'm like,
I wonder if I logged in right now.
Would Emily and Davis be online?
I probably would be like,
I'm like, shit, I do kind of want to play.
But then also when I lose two hours to it,
I'm like, I don't know if that felt good.
It feels so bad.
I like I never look back.
When I play with you guys, it's fun.
But then sometimes I'll play.
But that's the thing, right?
When you play a game that you play mainly socially
that you also play outside,
it's like you're chasing that feeling of like,
it's not the same.
I want that fun that I played with someone.
And then when I play alone,
and then especially when you lose,
you're like,
what am I doing?
Why am I here?
That's just every competitive game.
That's why I can't.
I get so addicted to competitive games
and you get to that point
where you're just like,
it's just depression.
And you're like,
yeah.
You just start losing.
You're only winning like 50% of the game
and your emotional status
whether your last game went good or went badly.
But that's why ranked is fun
when you play a lot of it
because essentially every time it resets,
You stomp everyone until you get to your actual rank.
Yeah.
And then you're like, no, it's not fun.
Now I'm actually losing.
I'm not the best anymore.
I'm not fun.
I like that he was getting top three.
Did you get into Slate the Spire 2?
I did not.
Oh yeah, we went over to play with the,
when it was during the manga.
Oh, okay.
And Emily was like, yeah, I was playing.
And then Emily made this awesome fucking pasta,
which I, so calerific.
And then Emily started playing and then I heard,
I looked over.
And Emily and Pasoenaed out.
So I went over and I was like playing on the laptop.
I was like, oh yeah.
But no, yeah, you were, you, because you were,
I was like, how are you doing Emily?
You're like, I've slept two hours.
I've slept two hours.
I was like, oh, so the monk is going well.
I got gone into Slate the Spy.
I tried playing it the day after.
I was like, eh.
Damn, yeah.
I guess Slater Spot one was all you needed.
Yeah.
You got hooked on Slater One.
I did. I was obsessed.
I try not to get into games because I feel like I'm either completely disinterested or it consumes my life for
Yeah I feel like that's dare I say with most of your hobbies
That is you're all or nothing you don't normally casually go into things that is true huh? Yeah
That is true
Everyone ever told you that?
Huh
Why do I function like that? I think a lot of people I'm trying a lot of the really hard time kind of getting into
to stuff. Like I really don't want to commit. And like that's why I try to play games that are like
experiences that end so that I don't get hooked because league took years from me.
But I mean, I really look back fondly out of my time playing it obviously. But I worry about like,
I'm like, I really don't think I have time. I don't think I should be doing this. Yeah,
it's called being an adult. Yeah. Yeah. Shit, I got responsibilities.
So I can't start an MMO anymore. Like I, because I know that's just going to consume my entire
line. And there's no end to that. And there's no end to that. And there's no end.
Yeah, MMOs are like, how would you like to ruin your life?
Yeah, which class would you like to play?
Yeah, how's your Final Fantasy 14?
We don't know.
You don't talk about that.
I promised I would play all the DLCs, Final Fantasy 14,
which is like 300 hours.
Did you give a time?
Did you, how far along?
Okay.
How far along?
Like...
Zero.
Oh!
I've done the base game.
Oh, I see.
50 hours.
There's a lot of fucking time.
And it didn't hook you?
No, because the base game is the worst part of the game.
Yeah.
The 50 hours is what you have to play.
Final Fantasy 14 fans.
It doesn't get good until after 50 hours.
They're like One Piece fans.
They've been held hostage by it.
Like they're like, they're like, no, no, no.
It gets good after 60 hours.
I'm like, 60 hours.
There's no other genre of anything that you can say, hold on for 60 hours.
It's ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure like hostage situations are over before 60 hours.
They either like end it or they like, they release them after 40.
Is it like a sunk cost fallacy thing where you're like,
we've already spent this much time.
So I got to like it.
I've heard it's genuinely just like fucking great though.
It gets amazing.
It actually does.
But the problem is that like,
I think for a lot of people it's like,
it's a social thing that gets them into it first.
Oh, that makes sense.
Because some people will be like,
yeah, I've got thousands of hours.
And then you'll be like, oh, you do the rates.
Like, no, no, no.
They just go on like the social area.
Yeah, I just hang out with my friends.
They like have the world and whatnot.
And, you know, people,
I think for me, the era of like socializing
through MMO's like past when I was much younger.
Yeah.
For some people, you know, they still really love it.
And they love the update.
and love being part of a community.
I mean, I think to some aspect,
it's kind of like keeping up with a gacha
where it's like, you are in the space
and it's fun being with like-minded people
who also like the thing.
That is true.
I don't think I would be as into love in deep space
if it were not, or like the social aspect of it,
or anything, really.
Yeah, I mean, it's boring
if you can't share it with someone else, right?
And I think that's what people like.
But you can also then do raids or whatever.
Like, there's something,
however you want to approach the game, you can.
And I think this is the same with like, obviously like a Love and Deep Space where you can kind of, if you just want to be a fan that consume stuff like fan content or if you want to.
Because I'm sure there are people who consume a ton of fan content or Love and Deep Space that have never played the game.
Oh, 100%.
Right?
Absolutely.
The being in that space is fun.
It's also just fun to be around people who are passionate, I think.
Yeah.
Everyone always wants to be around people who care about something.
Yeah.
That's why League is like great because you're like everyone is just as fucking miserable as well.
It's nice to be in a space where everyone hates this.
I was about to say hold up.
That's just trauma bonding.
Well, that's like, who's held hostage?
That's the heart syndrome, bro.
Because, like, when you lose two guys, you're like,
I bet this guy's a fucking loser.
And then you're like, he was like, that's me.
Oh, God.
Well, yeah.
Do you think you can live the mangaka life then?
No.
Now that you've done it for one month?
I don't think I could live the life.
Yeah.
I just, it's on my bucket list.
I just want to publish something.
Yeah.
Just to have, just to have it, you know?
Just have something there.
Just be a published author.
I don't need it to live.
to like be a hit.
Yeah.
I don't need to be a bestseller.
Yeah.
I just wanna make something to fulfill
my childhood dream of like making a manga.
Maybe that's how it starts though.
Maybe that's how it starts.
You just finished that one project and you're like,
oh.
I quit you too.
Yeah.
Guys, I'm quitting.
I'm gonna be a monka.
You both are like very pure creative people.
Like I think creativity drives you guys a lot.
Oh 100%.
Like for me I'm like, all right, lock in, play video games.
I don't know.
Just play video games.
You don't get bored of that though?
No.
I finished a Twitch stream.
I like, this is like the easiest shop in the world.
You know?
I'm like, I play.
I actually got a start.
Hold on a second.
I finished my fucking 10-hour Genshin stream.
And I'm like, that was fucking easy.
I basically just watched an anime that played itself.
That was basically, yeah.
And then I finished, I'm like, damn, I kind of did nothing though for like 10 hours.
Yeah, but what you need to understand, Garn, is that Connor's a gamer.
I love games.
He is like in the purest form.
He is a gamer.
I love seeing the ideas that they try to make.
I don't know.
It's just fun.
It's fun to consume them.
But I, you know,
obviously try to do it in moderation as much as you can.
If it is your job.
But still,
maybe that's why I stopped playing league.
I don't know.
Or,
that's why he's not playing with?
Because I also realized my hobby
outside of gaming cannot be gaming.
Like, I need to do something else.
You switch it off a bit.
Because otherwise it ruins.
It kills it for you, right?
Like you, you need to be some aspect of it you enjoy.
But then that's why it's like really fun towards you guys do your thing.
It's like, you're like, I'm just going to make something.
I'm like, whoa.
Yeah.
I mean, have you ever been close to burning out with art at all?
I don't think so.
What else do I have?
I don't have anything else going for me.
If I don't have art, what do I have?
I'm just kidding.
Well, not really.
But, no, I don't think.
So I think it's because like one of the things I've tried to like, and I've talked about this a few times in the past and like other places, but the one thing I've always tried to stay true to myself in like YouTube or whatever I do is I want to make sure I'm enjoying what I'm doing.
Yeah, of course.
So like even if it's not the most, it doesn't make the most sense business wise, if it feels creatively fulfilling, then that'll still like keep me going, you know?
Like every time I make a love in due space video,
that's a guaranteed 10 out of 10.
10 out of 10 people who don't know,
YouTube ranks your video performance.
10 is like, you'd hear the do-do
fucking sound effect.
You log onto the studio.
It's like, less people are watching this.
Everything's gray.
Yeah.
But like, I think even,
I think knowing that it's automatically a 10 out of 10
kind of puts less pressure on it.
Yeah.
Like,
you know,
because it's like,
well,
I know,
I know the people
who really want to see
this kind of stuff
will watch it.
Yeah.
And it's just,
they've all been like really fun to make,
which has been like the one thing that I,
yeah.
That's important.
Like Lovadeepa is not a game
you can really farm.
Yeah.
You know?
But,
uh,
it's been just a lot of fun creatively.
Mm-hmm.
So I think with like,
even with like the cafe stuff.
I mean,
the cafe stuff does well,
but also it's like fun to get.
creative with it too. Yeah. I think it's also fun when a video forces you to like go places and
experience things, right? Yeah. Sometimes it can be quite, um, the only thing I don't like about playing
video games is that I often like, I'll have like two days where I didn't leave my house. And I feel like,
well, I didn't do or experience anything at all. Yeah. Like at least if you go somewhere, go to a
cafe, you're going to have to take in an atmosphere to see other people, be around something.
I think that helps creatively. Yeah. And like, spill ink has also been like a big part of that as well
because funny enough, like, at the beginning of this year,
I was like, what if I just stayed inside and locked in?
Like, what if I just killed my social life
and just, like, tried to level up an art?
And then somehow the complete opposite has happened this entire year.
I think I've been, like, more, I've made more, like, creative...
What's the word?
Progression?
Like, steps.
Like, that, but also I've been meeting a lot more creatives than I would have
expected. Yeah. And it in turn has kind of like made me like socialized so much more.
Which is like not good for like video productivity or anything. But it's also like really cool to
be I guess surrounded by other creatives. I mean that's what pushes your creativity a lot of
times. Yeah. Surrounding yourself with number one people in the same field and number two people doing
exciting things as well because it gives you inspiration to work on your own stuff.
Yeah.
And a lot of it has led to like some funny coincidences.
Like there was an artist that I became friends with who I met through Design Festa.
And it was because like her name's Bingying.
Shout on my girl Bingying.
She was selling like watercolor stuff.
And one of the original paintings she was selling was a painting of a lighthouse in Maine.
And I was like, oh my God, this would be a perfect gift to get Ditis.
And so I bought it.
And then so I was compelled.
in that moment to be like, do you want to, do you want to do watercolor on like this YouTube
channel I have, like this art channel?
She's like, what?
Okay.
Yeah.
And then that was super cool.
And she recently left her job at Google.
Because she had like a, I think she was like a designer at Google.
And she's had it for a while.
But she ended up leaving it because she wanted to pursue her passion for art and watercolor.
That was so cool.
So she's just been doing that ever since.
Hell yeah.
And then there's another artist that I met
kind of through Spillink
where I had purchased one of her key chains
at Anime Expo last year
and I showed it in a merch hall
on Spilling and she saw it
and she was like oh my God
thank you for showing my work
she hit me up recently to be like do you want to meet up in
Tokyo I was like sure why not let's meet up
and then we found out that we grew up
in the same like small county
at like the same time
Wow.
Like years ago.
Isn't that crazy?
That is crazy.
Small world.
Anyway, that's just been fun.
Do you often feel like you have to, when working on like your YouTube stuff,
you have to have like a project that you're really excited about to get you through like the other projects that you kind of like,
maybe you have to do to, maybe you're less passionate about, but you have this like one thing you're really looking forward to.
I think my problem is it keeps shifting.
Like I'm constantly looking forward.
to the next thing and never the thing I'm currently working on.
So I'll be excited about the thing I'm working on and then I'll be like,
oh, I know what I'm going to do for my next video.
I'm so excited to work on that.
I just have to get through this one.
And then I start on the next one and I'm like, yeah, I'm finally working on it.
And then I'm like, oh, but my next video idea.
Ooh, I'm excited for that one.
And it's just like constant, like, unsatisfactory loop.
Right.
It's, uh, I mean, you like the idea of working on videos, but you don't like that.
Yeah.
I know you have to sit down and do it.
I know exactly what you mean.
You're like, I've got so many exciting ideas
of so many different videos
and then you have to, you have to sit down.
And realize the idea.
Yeah, you're like, damn, it's kind of sucks.
You have to write a script?
Oh, I hate writing scripts.
It's the worst for me.
Once last time you wrote a script?
I've been doing a bunch lately.
Oh, really?
Yeah, is where I have to, like, format them.
Oh, okay, okay.
I was going to say, I thought usually you were, like, off the cuff.
Yeah.
So what I mostly do is I will, when I watch
video that we're like reviewing to do voiceover for, I will record my screen and do voiceover.
Like I'll pause the video and do voice over live. Right. And then I'll be like, put this
right here. Like I'll edit. And I'll be like cut this part to cut here. Put the voice over here.
But yeah, I've been having to write some scripts for some other videos that have been more
to the make. And bro, it sucks. Because I'm like, dude, when I was thinking about this idea,
it was so clear. And then the moment I'm going to write it, I'm like,
but, be, ba, blah. I can't like write anything. Or like, you reread a joke that you thought was so
good. And you're like, this is not funny.
And then like when I write the script, I'm like, that's how I talk.
And then when I talk, I'm like, who the fuck is this asshole who wrote this?
This is not how I talk.
The hell is this?
And it's like, I think in my head I'm someone else.
I don't know what it is.
It's really hard to do.
I've been like that.
Like, I never enjoyed writing scripts.
But I think recently now that I've got back into writing scripts, I've been enjoying it a
lot more because I feel like I'm actually improving now.
And like, I can-story structure is so difficult as well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think like the more that I're getting back into it now and the more of like kind of figured
out like oh you know this is kind of the way that I like writing my scripts it's actually been
really like it's one of my favorite things to do now it's just like writing down the ideas and
like actually making it flow and be like cohesive because I used to fucking suck at it and I always
hated it yeah I want the opposite ability I want the ability to turn on the camera and just speak
just yeah I can't do that I can't do that 60 hours I'll rip it I can't I you know when like
when like when you film like on location somewhere I can't do the whole hey what's up guys
I'm here at blah, blah, blah, blah.
Today, we're not practicing.
That's like the same thing with like,
when you're like, just fucking draw the thing.
And I'm like, you don't understand.
It looks like Gollum.
Like, what are you doing?
That's just practice.
You know, it's like you just practice.
It's like that muscle.
It's like the first time like I think whenever you,
if you, I'm sure you, when you do V-tubing, right?
You're streaming.
The first couple of times you do it,
when you turn that camera off, it's like,
you're like fucking dead from like the energy.
And then, you know, obviously now,
if you more you do it, now I'm like, all right,
60 now, cool. That's crazy. I'm gonna do some work now or something. Like I remember the first
fucking, you know, a figurine special we did for trash taste and, you know, we all individually
made our videos and we didn't have a script for that. We just kind of had to go along with the
flow. And it was maybe the second or third of a time, Gantt had like even filmed on camera,
let alone without a script. And I remember, man, the first couple of hours of gone like just trying
to say stuff in front of the camera, it's just like, how the fuck do I do this? Now he's a
fucking pro at it. I wouldn't say I'm a pro. I don't know.
You've definitely improved in the CECs you've done this.
Let me tell you the hardest videos I have to film.
It's any time I have the second channel video
that is unscripted.
Yeah.
And I have to just talk about a topic.
So maybe I have, it's a Joey video, basically.
Yeah, yeah.
So maybe there's a anime that I like or an article
and I just have to talk about it for like 10, 15 minutes.
How do people just do that?
I don't know.
How does Moist Critical do what he does on a daily basis?
I don't know.
I don't know how Charlie does it.
Dude, he's got like, but he's also like a,
he's a word.
The shit he comes up with me.
Yeah.
This cock guzzling peat.
I've never seen such a pathetic human.
It's like, I don't know how he comes up with all these.
So what I realize is that I'm a lot better when I'm talking, when I'm live streaming.
I actually have people watching me and bouncing off.
Yeah, right.
Most importantly, I can't just stop talking mid-sentence and edit my sentence and
re-say what I wanted to say.
Because what I do, if there's no one there, is I just get in my own head.
my own head and I was like, I start talking
and then halfway through my mind's like,
you can say that better.
And I'm like, you're right, mind.
I can say that better.
The worst still for me in terms of recording
is having to do it in front of like 30 Japanese businessmen.
Oh.
Like an interview or something?
Yeah, I'm not even an interview,
like you have to do like a scene where you have to like,
not act, but you have to do like an intro.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I just do one recently in front of like 50 business executives.
No, I'll just staring at you.
I do an intro and it's too, it's tough.
Because I'm like, where do I look?
And every side of it's like, I'm like,
I looked, there was an executive.
And I was like, can someone please leave this way
so I can look straight?
That was me every time I had to interview
like a manga author or like a line novel author.
Because it's like, I'm trying to look at the author
and then in my periphery, there's 40 Japanese businessmen
all just looking in at me and be like,
what's he gonna say?
And I'm like, please, please stop.
It's good fun though, isn't it?
Yeah, you just get used to.
You just get used to it off for a while.
Well, you have to, you've played your strengths.
It's like, look, I can't draw, I can't script,
I can't be much of anything.
I can turn the camera on and I can,
I could lie about me.
Oh.
I get, I don't know.
I don't have much.
I got to lose something.
How come you stop streaming, by the way?
Because you used to stream every now and again.
Like two years ago?
What do you mean?
I remember when you used to stream.
I get so surprised.
Never people still ask me this question?
Because I'm like, I feel like it's been long enough
for it to be like,
they want the return of the king.
They want the goat to come back.
I think I just,
I am not comfortable with being perceived in real time.
Why's that funny?
No, I get it.
It's tiring.
It's the same reason why I don't like doing panels.
I don't like people.
Like, I don't like a crowd of people looking at.
Don't look at me.
Yeah, don't look at me.
I don't know if it's because I'm used to like the YouTube way of working where it's like,
I made my content, go watch it.
I'm going to fuck off for like another week.
Like, you, professional streamer, do you, does it take energy?
This can sound weird to anyone who doesn't understand.
Does it take energy for you to be perceived?
No, so this is, but that's the skill you have to learn.
Like that, that was something that I had to get used to.
Like, that internal monologue that is constantly keeping you in check,
you don't like turn it off.
Because you...
Why would you want to turn it off?
Because that takes energy.
And you can't stream if that's on.
That's why streamers are dumb.
It's so dumb.
They don't think.
They don't think.
They're on autopilot.
To be a good streamer, you cannot, like,
there cannot be a moment of,
I shouldn't say that joke, you should have to say it.
And then like, then deal with the backlash later.
Then you get in trouble.
Also, that's why they're constantly getting canceled.
Well, yeah, because troopers are just dumb as well.
I think, look, I do think you'd be a little dumb
to be able to turn that thing off.
Right.
But also I saw it as like, you know, like being,
like in panels and stuff, I saw it as like,
oh, I'm not, like, I'm not good at what I do
because I can't, I'm getting, I'm getting nervous.
It's like when I watch Pete do it, Pete's like insane.
He'll be like, what are we doing?
I don't know.
Okay, shit, all right, I'm going on in five.
Okay.
And then he somehow nails it.
And you're like, the hell is this guy?
Yeah.
So being around him kind of made me like have to like rethink a lot of like, okay, this is a guy who like is so clearly talented at just being perceived and like knowing how to use that like, you're taking the perception of him and using that as an entertainment form.
And so it's like, you know, he's very, very talented at doing that.
So watching him do it made me realize that uncomfortableness that I had of being perceived,
I didn't see it as a preference, more so something that I had to overcome.
I don't like it.
No, I know, I know.
I still don't really like panels.
But, you know, it also depends what I'm doing.
Like when we would do panels for companies, it's very different because it's like, okay,
I have to be serious and it's not my thing.
When it's a panel and it's like me doing it, it's like, oh, this is great.
These are people who have come to just watch me exist and do something silly.
That's more fun.
Even if you like fuck up a little bit, then that, you know,
They're there for you, right?
So I'm the opposite.
You like the company, the serious stuff he wants?
Because I'm like, it's, with the company serious stuff,
I'm like, this is their material.
It's your role.
It's, I, feeling in a role,
I'm like reading off the scripts and I'm like,
you're doing the Sally Emacki, you're like,
I'm not gone right now.
Yeah, I'm a different person.
I'm a different person.
Yeah.
Whereas if it's like a me panel,
I'm like, shit, they're there for me.
That's, I got to, I got to be the most me of like all time.
And I'm like, true.
Shit, man.
No, I'm on Conn's side with this one when it comes to panels.
I feel way less pressure if it's my panel as opposed to a company.
Because if I fuck up my panel, I'm like, oh, who am I going to be pissed off
and me the boss?
Oh, it's me.
Yeah.
If it's like a panel, I'm like, I'm really sorry.
Yeah, there's way less pressure because like if I fuck up at a company panel, then that
makes not only me look bad, but also the people I'm emceeing for.
But they trusted me.
Yeah, because they trusted me to be professional in this instance.
But if I fuck up in my own panel, it doesn't matter because people are, people sometimes
like the fuck-ups.
because they're there for you.
But then like, you know, that's sinking feeling
when you're doing a panel
and then you see someone get up to leave
like halfway through and you're like,
I'm bombing!
Excuse me, are you pissing?
Are you pissing or are you shitting?
You're coming back, right?
That only happens not much.
It's like bad manners
when they do it in the front row.
I'm like, oh, come on.
When that happens, I like throwing jabs at them.
Like a little bit of crowd work.
Like you're heckling about my crowd.
I do like a little.
I like doing crowd work in that sense.
It's just like people have different schedules.
I don't know, yeah.
People also go to like panels
they don't really know about.
Yeah, yeah.
Like there's tons, you can't take it personally, right?
Yeah.
If everyone left, I'd be like, well.
If it was a mass migration,
then it'd be a different story.
I'm like, I'm sorry.
I'm just glad they turned up.
I'm like, damn you guys are right?
All right, because they have five minutes
you can leave anytime you want.
It's all good.
I don't think I'm cut out for streaming.
Sometimes when I might,
OBS open because I'm like screen recording something and then I'm still connected to my
Twitch account. I'll see like, I'll see like, who has followed you. I'm like, huh.
I see it in my chat. It's like, oh, did I click go live? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's always people
who I think are like really funny and good at streaming who don't do it. I think you and you and
Didas are very good at streaming, like very funny. I think Ditis is hilarious. That is just so fun.
Yeah. But he's also like he will never force himself to do something he doesn't want to do.
So after his like, like, multi-week long Dark Souls run, he's like, well, I don't really want to play anything else.
So I guess I'm done.
He just pieced out.
He was like, yeah, that was, that was it.
That was my heart.
Well, that was also crazy is that he learned how to model and like.
Yeah, he learned like live 2D and everything.
Yeah.
I was like, that is just crazy to do this to play Eldon Ring once.
It's ADHD.
It's the ADHD.
The commitment.
He like, once he locks in, it's like, and then he's like, onto the next.
Right now it's Warhammer.
Oh, he's...
I think you both are like that too, though.
You both kind of...
Maybe you dive down rabbit holes
and commit a bit deeper.
That's true.
You commit hard.
You're right, I never dabble.
No.
Dabble is not in my vocabulary.
I never thought you'd be like,
yeah, I tried something.
Yeah.
Tried, it wasn't for me.
But then I think it's a strong sense
of you know exactly what you like.
So I think that's pretty a good thing.
Whereas I'm like, I don't know.
It's not beer.
I don't know.
It's hard to imagine.
I just don't see it working.
Is it like normally like the fandom that draws you in this deeply into like some of the different
things, rabbit holes you've fallen down into?
You know what?
I think it is.
Because I'm thinking back on all of like the past several like rabbit holes I've fallen into.
And I'm like, I consumed a lot of things about this like one thing.
Because I remember when you fell down the K-pop Stephen Hunter's rabbit hole.
You did go deep down.
I did.
You did go deep down.
I watched that movie like six times.
Jesus.
Let me get a second one.
Oh yeah.
Take forever.
20, 29.
Oh my God.
It's okay.
I'll stay tuned.
Yeah, I remember you became the residence like,
oh, you haven't watched K-pop demon hunters?
It's okay.
I can watch it again.
We're watching it right now.
Yeah, it was like,
yeah, it was last.
It was last AX.
You were like, you want to watch it?
I was like, now?
You were like, you were gonna watch it.
in our room. I'm not. I gotta go do your panel. I'm not looking at now. And then we went to Maine.
And I was asking all the family members that is, you want to give up d'emakers yet? Do you want to?
It's like, place here. I just love any big project that is like, like made out of pure love and
passion. Yeah. I mean, that's, it's rarer and rarer to see in the modern day. And whenever you have
like a hit like K-pop Dibbon Hunters or just like anything that is clearly made with pure
passion, you know, as a creative, as an artist, you just got to respect that.
Yeah, 100%.
But also the memes and the fan art, I'm sure.
Oh my God, the fan art, I ate so good.
The fan art was so good.
Is there any fandoms that you're like, I would really want to get into that, but I kind of
don't think it's a good idea for me to get into it?
Like, not a good idea because I would get too into it?
Yeah.
Like, it would become your new obsession.
I know Warhammer will ruin my life.
I get into it. Warhammer's on my retirement list.
Yeah, that's like when I have infinite money and infinite time, it's Warhammer.
Yeah. I've had multiple people tell me that I should try Final Fantasy 14, but I don't know.
I don't think I'd like it. You don't think I'd like it. No. I was just. Because I think like
the game doesn't look pretty enough. Oh, for you. Oh, for me.
Hmm. The game, unfortunately, especially like in the earlier parts, like looks like an MMO. And
MMOs have that look.
I've heard some of the music about,
I think the music is exceptional.
Yeah,
music is amazing.
But I memos have a look to them
because there's just too much stuff
they have to like load.
But like when you pull up any MMO,
like you can immediately tell
it's an MMO when you see a screenshot
because the world looks a certain way
and you always have like...
The hard always looks a certain way.
You have the hard that looks ridiculous.
Yeah.
But maybe you would like it though
because some of the character,
like there is a lot of character expression.
Costumes are a big aspect
and fashion and that aspect.
But then now,
now I feel like I'm just,
You're going to costumes.
I mean, it works.
It works.
Sometimes James will send me like, what is it?
He'll send me like TikToks of people who paint their Warhammer figurines to look like Hawaii-fied and cute.
I'm like, ooh, oh, maybe.
You are really easy to buy gifts for because it's like strawberry.
I know.
It's great.
Yeah.
It's awesome.
Do any of the characters of a side?
Do any of the characters have a sad backstory?
A tragic backstory?
Or any of them, do any of them have dark bangs and...
Oh my God.
Are you on?
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah, but I mean like it's an MMO so it's all like they all kind of get there in this,
at least in the original AAR which I skipped a lot of the story because...
You skip the story?
Dude.
Dude.
Everyone who was a fan of Fentz 14, family was like, skip, skip, skip, skip, skip, skip, skip, skip.
This one because they were like this story blows.
Oh.
Because they've remade, I guess it once or 12.
Twice, Nabi?
Yeah.
How many times?
Yeah.
Twice or?
They shortened some of the...
They remade it and then shortened it the base game before the DLC because they
were like, they really wanted people to be like, just get into it.
Because also like, this happened as well, which I can't recall this happening in any other game.
The voice acting in the first expansion, like the first game that you play, is completely different from the voice acting afterwards.
Wait, why?
Like they replaced all the actors or...
Yeah, because it's really...
really bad in the first one, but they kept it because they, you know, recording that much
stuff against, God knows how much money that costs, we do all of that. So they basically,
all the characters change voices too. And it's really funny and kind of quirky when you're playing
it because the voice acting sounds really goofy in the initial one. Because it's obvious that,
you know, they didn't really know. I guess, I don't know. We need to ask Koji what happened.
Yeah. Off, off camera where he might tell us. Why is the voice acting ass?
I have my theories
I probably shouldn't say them
because I don't want to
if I know anyone so
yeah
but you know these things are hard
I mean there's also tons of dialogue
in that you're almost
hard to record for
because you're just like
what is my character
you're like okay
sure yeah
well just like any big game like that
like the amount of blind
you have to go through
to uh
yeah and often MMO law
is overly complicated
and as like an actor
it's probably really difficult to know
and then if the director
is taking the job
but maybe he's not that passionate
I don't know I have no idea
I don't know I'm just speculating
So you don't think Emily will get into 14?
No, I don't think so.
Okay, maybe I'm safe then.
Because Davis got into it, right?
No.
14?
I think he dabbled.
Yeah, he dabbled.
I thought he was like deep into it for like a week or something and then he stopped.
Maybe, but I think again, it's like the social thing.
I think that's his definition of dabble.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's like if his friends aren't playing it and then it's like, well, a lot of it's social, right?
MMOs are kind of a lot of a grind, though.
Yeah.
I just, a lot of the times, you know, it's,
I don't know.
Yeah, it's way more the social aspect for sure.
If you don't have people around you
who are also, you know, getting into it
at the same time as you,
then it's really hard to get through.
But a lot of people have been playing it
for a very long time.
It is unfortunately a very difficult game to get into
because, you know, the,
even the website to buy the subscription
is a fucking challenge.
Oh, you have to pay subscription.
Well, Emily.
Actually, the first 60 levels
in a Realm Reborn is all completely free to play.
That's the meme.
I've got the, what's the meme?
The copy pastor?
Did you know the critically acclaimed
Final Fantasy
The critically claimed MMO RPG
Final Fantasy 14 with 80 hours of content
What is it, Nabi?
Nabi, Navy?
Free trial, copy pasta.
It includes...
It's updated now it's good.
The critical thing
RPG final is a free trial
and it includes,
wait, no, scroll up, scroll up.
Includes the entirety of a Realm Reborn
and the award-winning Heavensword expansion
up to level 60 with no restrictions,
no playtime, sign up and enjoy.
They always see it.
That's like a sponsor read.
Yeah.
They somehow turned a sponsor read into a coffee.
It's kind of crazy.
It's kind of genius.
So yeah, you can actually play it,
but you are still limited in certain things.
But yeah, you have to buy it.
And getting the subscription, I will admit,
is a challenge.
I'm okay. I've got enough stuff eating up my time anyway.
Yeah.
Yeah, you don't.
Yeah, you don't do this.
If we have time, I have one question to ask you guys.
So we've been on YouTube for a while.
Yeah.
And okay, if you have already discussed this
in your previous track,
episode, then we can skip it.
Do you have a favorite YouTube video?
Like of all time.
Myself or YouTube?
No.
Oh, just all time.
Of all time.
I mean, potion cell is up there for me.
That's like immediate, like when I think of the goats,
potion seller is up there.
Do you know potion seller?
Yes, I know.
Yeah, I know.
Good, good, we all know.
Do you come back?
Do you think I nearly we watch?
I feel like this is the YouTube Hall of Fame.
And I watch this video whenever I need inspiration
of how to make a good video.
History of the World.
Oh, Bill Words!
That is like a whole-of-famer YouTube upload.
That is true.
That is like, you know, that is like the Citizen Kane, I think.
It is very good.
Yeah, that's a really good video.
Oh, man, I don't know it, to be honest.
Do you have one?
I do.
Okay.
Okay, it requires some context.
Okay.
Okay, so back in high school, I was really into my little pony.
Why are you laughing?
Okay.
Why are you, is that not a me show?
Come on.
Why are you acting surprise?
No, it is a youth.
It's just a funny way to start.
I know, I know, sorry.
This is one of those videos I have to do a yearly rewatch.
And I tear up every time.
Okay.
But anyways.
So, okay.
So quick context.
Quick context.
There's two characters in my little pony called Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
Princess Celestia is in charge of raising the sun.
Princess Luna raises the moon.
Night day, you know, you know how it is.
Classic.
Yeah.
So the lore is that a long time ago, Princess Luna, their sisters, by the way.
So a long time ago, Princess Luna got.
jealous of Princess Celestia because everyone
loves the sun and appreciates the sun and always
awaken the daytime they go to sleep and they don't
acknowledge Princess Luna. So that resentment
turned her into Nightmare Moon and then
still
Princess Celestia banished her to the moon
for a thousand years. That was
the main conflict of like the very
beginning of My Little Pony.
Okay. Okay. And then
that ends up getting resolved pretty
quickly like Nightmare moon comes back
and then oh, the power of friendship
elements of harmony.
And then
Nightmare Moon is no longer
and now Princess Luna's redeemed
and she's normal, right?
It's a kid's show.
The conflict gets resolved
pretty quickly.
There's not much else to it.
But back when I was in high school
someone made like an original song
in the like perspective
of Princess Celestia
during that time when
what are you laughing?
First of all, it's a really beautiful song
called Lullaby for a Princess
by Pony Pony Fonet
Don't play the music.
I just want to see the YouTube video.
Lullaby for a princess.
Yeah.
So it starts off as just a song, right?
And I remember...
I love that time.
That comes afterwards.
So that image on the right,
that was the original song.
It's just audio.
It's just a song.
And it's this woman singing
these beautiful lyrics.
And I was like, oh my God, this is amazing.
I think I was like a junior in high school
at the time.
And I ended up like,
I think I downloaded it on my iPod.
And then I brought it to school.
And I was like showing my best friend
at the time, Kate.
I'm like,
listen to the song, it's amazing.
So I have vivid memories of this.
Anyways, fast forward a few years later,
Warpout made an animation using the original song.
And it was so good.
It made me cry the first time I watched it.
And now I do like a yearly rewatch.
I have not been into My Little Pony in years.
Because like I think I stopped watching in like college.
But I feel like this is the, you know how you told me like fandom stuff?
kind of will like gets me deep into a hole.
Yeah.
I feel like this is such a beautiful representation of like.
Like fandom.
Like fandom collaboration.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Taking this like little piece of lore from a show, like a kid's show.
They make an original song out of it.
And then someone took that piece of creative, creative work and then made another beautiful,
incredible piece of animation for it.
And then like in the comments, they made a comment, because this is from like 12 years
ago.
And then the animator left a comment.
five years ago being like, hey, um,
like I've moved on, like, I have a family now and I have a kid.
I hope life's treating you well.
It's just sweet.
He just dropped this.
He dropped peak and then left.
Isn't that amazing?
Drop peaked and started a family.
Yeah.
That's pretty cool.
That's pretty cool.
That's so beautiful.
Don't be shy.
I play the song.
Yeah.
Don't be shy.
Play the song.
Would we get copyright claimed?
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
It's so pretty.
You don't have to watch the whole thing.
It's so.
I just really like it.
So is the story behind this,
why this is your favorite YouTube video of all time
or just how much it meant to you
when you first watched it?
I think, Bo.
It like blew my mind when I first saw it.
And I was like, wow, this is so cool.
Well, now I feel like I'm getting judged.
No, no, no.
This is your favorite.
No, no, the story's beautiful.
This is your good?
This is your good.
I've heard enough.
I'm satisfied.
Yeah.
I don't know, I just really like it.
I like that it's like, oh,
this fan took another fan's thing.
and then like it was,
I don't even think it was a planned collaboration thing.
I feel like a fucking dickhead saying potion seller.
Some guy with a fucking webpad.
Don't worry,
because I was about to say
Gentleman's Club by Filthy Frank.
It's probably my ultimate favorite video.
So it's very different.
I also occasionally, like every year or two,
I'll go and rewatch like a video game high school.
That shit.
The one for the Freddie Wong series they made.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What do you want?
Why that one?
Because it's just such a good series.
And so it's so,
Cornyly like 2010.
It is a time capsule.
It is. It's very good.
Of the videos back in the video high school.
I mean, there's another one I was thinking of.
Early AVGN videos does that for me.
Yeah.
It's like very cringe YouTube acting.
Yeah, it's very, yeah.
It's very earnest though.
It's very sweet. I look back very fondly on it.
What else are gonna say?
I didn't know you're a video game high school fan.
I like video games.
That's true.
I was like, they're me for real, dude.
That's me for real.
Let me for real.
And then what else?
There was another one that I was thinking of when you were talking on my little pony.
I'm trying to think what are some like all-time, what are some all-time great uploads that I re-watch sometimes?
Ooh.
I just love memes.
You like them short and sweet.
Meme compilations.
I love the, yeah, I love the potion seller.
Close the door if you've had out of a jet.
Oh, I don't know why, but...
The Birmingham guy?
Yeah, the Scottish one.
The Birmingham is Danny G.
Yeah, Danny G.
Danny G.
I'm gonna come to fucking Birmingham.
I'll break your fucking legs.
That's all time for me.
Yeah.
Will almost always make me laugh
when someone references it.
Like, I don't know why.
It's like...
It's a mic like getting...
It's the mic breaking.
It's hearing the Xbox message being sent,
opening it, playing it.
It's perfect.
Everything about it is...
It's a capsule of its time that I can't...
You know, actually,
you know what,
I mentioned on stream and I got so pissed off
that people were like, not ever heard of it.
It was the one that you made the animatic of,
the song, the anime song that everyone listened to.
The very first one you did.
The Sundari song?
The Sundari song.
I was about the Sundari song watching a-
Fucking talking about the Sundari song on stream.
I'm like, this was inescapable back in the day.
And everyone was like, I never heard of it.
Wait, which one?
I was like, you were not online.
This was everywhere, right?
I'm not losing my mind.
No, it was.
It was everywhere.
Have you heard about this?
I don't know if I know.
Yes, you do know this song.
Joey, were you on Tumblr?
No.
No, you're on YouTube, it was on YouTube.
It's not like I like you.
Oh, wait, yeah.
But static P, static P was the way.
Wait, yes.
I literally just saw the thumbnail.
I'm like, I know this.
I immediately recognize that thumbnail.
This technically made my career.
This is like a Hall of Famer anime fucking fan-up.
It is. It's good.
I don't know people are, man.
It's catchy.
It is.
It's very catchy.
It's such a good earworm.
I think it's just like the,
back a like moments in the song.
But that's like cute at the time.
It is peak like 2000s weeb
like culture. Like America weep culture.
You know. Totally. 10 years old.
Yeah. Damn. We're old.
I don't remind. Is it only 10 years old?
For some reason I thought it was only. I remember the never mind.
They won't release.
I thought he was older than that. I don't know why.
Did you uh, did you watch a lot of AMV?
Oh my god!
Yes!
Oh my Lord!
Like for me, like peak
like anime culture was like finding out anime through AMVs
and hearing like the same five songs useful like every AMV.
I've become...
Yeah, Lincoln Park three doors down.
Yes.
Evanessence.
Yeah, 36 to Mars.
There's always those guys.
But AIMVs are crazy now.
People are making some insane amvies.
They're called edits now.
That's so cringe.
No.
They call them what they are.
They call edits now.
Dude, I remember seeing my very first, like, BL pairing in an AMV when I was a kid.
It was like light and L from Death Note.
Set to My Immortal from Evanessus.
That must have unlocked something in you.
It was one of those AMVs where it's a mix of clips and also, like, fan art.
They've gone from the internet of, like, they've shipped together.
And I remember as a kid, I was like, you can do that.
That's allowed?
Oh.
That was crazy.
Have you ever made an AMV?
Huh?
Have you ever made an AMV?
No.
I like watching that.
I'm not, I mean, it's kind of like,
but I'm not taking existing clips.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah, that's true.
But I mean, I'd argue like.
I remember my very first AMV I ever watched.
It was, um, it was, uh, it was, um,
fruits basket because it was the very first thing I ever looked up on YouTube
when I found out about YouTube's existence.
It was a fruits basket AMV, set to an Apple Levine song.
What?
What if it's still up?
Huh?
What if it's still up?
I don't know.
Would it be?
It's all like grainy.
It's just hard to get the search terms for YouTube to, like, bring it up, I think.
Yeah, because it's, like, buried somewhere,
especially if it's, like, some of the older AMVs back in the day.
Oh, Kai's going to try.
But it is Fruit Basket, Avrilavine, I'm with you.
Dude, anime was so fun, funny back then, dude.
It was awesome.
What do you mean?
He was so unapologetically cringe, and I loved it.
It was great.
It could be that top one.
I know.
It's got to be old, right?
Yeah, it's gonna be an old one.
My happy endings, 2006.
It's gotta be like 2006.
It might be that one.
It might be that one.
This is July 6, 2006.
Oh my God, look at that crunchy quality.
Yo, that audio quality.
Oh my God, I'm there.
I'm back.
I'm back.
Oh my God.
Oh, that's 240P, bro.
Oh my God.
This was my bread and butter back in the day.
We probably can't play too much.
Yeah, we can't play too much.
Holy shit. That's a 20-year-old video.
Yeah. I just remember the video I always come back to watch
whenever I want to, like, feel nostalgic.
It's not a famous video, but I always remember where I was
back when I first watched it.
Can you search up PD-Flow?
P-D-F-L-O?
I think you're going to bring up the anime documentary.
I mean, this is, yeah, one word.
Oh, the Anime Expo vlog?
The anime Expo vlog.
I love that video over.
You know this one?
I know this video.
Yeah, Pedro Di Flores.
Just search a PDFlow anime expo.
Yeah, PD Flow Anime Expo.
Yeah.
What is this?
This is like one of the very first vlogs
at Anime Expo.
Wait, really?
2008.
Oh, yeah, 2006.
So I remember watching this.
I remember watching this too.
It's got copyrighted music in it.
Oh, yeah.
Just mute it and let it play.
Yeah, just mute it plays play.
But it's just,
Peeflow, this guy
who just goes,
just goes around interviewing different attendees
at Anime Expo.
This is basically what's, you know,
this, we've seen this.
He's ahead of his time.
Ahead of his time, head of his time.
Dude, this guy's funny as far as well.
I miss 2000s con culture.
Dude, it was so good.
It was so good.
I always come back to watch this video
if I need to remind myself
what con culture used to be like.
Oh my God.
Like back in the day.
This is like, I remember watching this
when I was in England, 16 years old.
I was like, damn, seeing this,
Anime Expo was just on a different scale of anything I'd seen in like anime culture, right in the UK.
And I was like, damn, I hope I can come here one day.
It's a dream, but maybe I can attend Anime Expo one day.
And yeah, I always watch it whenever I need.
What's going on here?
Yeah, I do.
Oh, man, I miss early con so much.
Even like 20, like, game.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, honestly.
It was great.
Yeah.
Bring you back.
It's obviously more cool.
now.
See, it's a lot more corporate now.
God rolled.
Yeah.
We're not old, Joey.
Well, a lot of the local cons, like they, they feel like a lot of them are gone now.
You do still have them, but a lot of them have gotten so expensive to throw events.
Yeah.
I mean, when's the last time you went to a local con?
Fuck.
Long, long time ago.
Long, long time ago.
Yeah, damn, man, that's sad.
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
It's melancholic.
Yeah, damn.
What a crazy, crazy thing, though.
It's so cool that it's like time capsule like that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I hope this video never goes down
because I'm like, this is my time capsule
for anime cons back in the day.
When like the new generation
asked me like, what will conventions
like back in the day, you know?
Just pull up a PD flow video.
Yeah, this is it, man, this is it.
What was the first year you went to,
invention?
I think you've gone to the oldest,
the oldest here.
I'm gonna call you all.
I mean, I am old.
What was the very first anime convention ever?
How was the conventions back in the 18th?
I went to anime conventions pretty late in life.
I would say my first one is probably 2021.
What?
No, sorry, 2011.
No, no, 2012.
Yeah, mine was like 2013.
It was crazy that the anime conventions been going since what,
the 90s in the States?
Yeah.
Like, oh my God, what the hell was that like?
was that like?
Dude, 90s anime cons in the States
would have gone so hard.
If I had a time machine.
I'd love to.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What was the first convention
you went to?
Went to a local one
in the UK
in like Blackpool, I think.
Oh, they had all around or?
They had anime conventions
in Blackpool?
No, because in the UK
they combine them with Comic-Cons,
don't they?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They still kind of do.
It's still all like,
yeah.
And it was always, like,
when I started going
was when anime kind of started
getting popular with people
at my age at the time.
So it was kind of,
like a mix of 50-year-old Star Wars fans mixed with like 15-year-old anime fans in the sense
it's still very weird. Maybe it happens now, I don't know, not so much, but...
I was one of the very first smash cons in Sydney. Oh, cool. Yeah. What was that like?
There was 2,000 people there. And it was in this fucking tiny convention center in like the
middle of nowhere. And then like, what, five, six years later, now it's like 50, 60,000 people
in the middle of Sydney. Yeah. Which is crazy. God, I remember back in
a day just going to my first anime convention and just like feeling like you walked into a different
world. Yeah. You'd never seen this many anime fans in real life, gathering one place, right?
Yeah. And I used to get like the con blues when the con would end. I remember like, fuck, I got to
go back to normal society now. And I'm like, that's sad. I'm going to surround myself with these normies.
Yeah. I was like, I was with my people for a weekend and now I got to go back to normal society.
And I was just like, shit, man, this is, this is everywhere.
It was back in 2009, I think 2009, 2008.
It was, yeah.
I dressed up, I didn't cosplay as a specific character.
But it was at a convention in New Jersey.
And it was on a college campus.
And it was called Castle Point.
Because I think that, I think that campus like kind of, from my like little kid perspective,
it looked like like a castley area.
There was a lot of buildings and you could like walk around outside.
And then years later in like 20, 22, I got invited to be a guest.
And I was like, wow, this is like full circle.
I get to guest at my very first convention I ever went to.
And this is no disrespect to the convention.
Like it was a lovely time.
But the sadness I felt when I walked up and realized the venue was completely different.
And it was like one of those big like warehouse venues were like,
Everything is in like one big windowless room.
And I understand why.
It's because they need more space.
Yeah.
But I was like, what happened to the college?
Yeah.
What happened to the campus?
Where's the little stomping grounds?
What happened?
That's so sad.
Like, I don't know.
I missed the feeling of like running into like a different room of the building
and seeing like what little thing was happening in there and then running to another room in the building.
But like, you know, cons get bigger.
The U.K. ones had like, one, they have like two holes.
and that was it.
Yeah.
Just two, like,
small-tleds.
They were tiny.
They were, tiny.
And they always had a bar.
Of course.
Yeah.
It was like,
a bar was always the centerpiece
of the con.
Hell yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's what surprised me
going to my first American convention.
I was like,
where'd you get drinks?
Where's the bar?
I was like,
every UK con I go to there's,
at least like a local pub.
Right.
Like a bar.
In the inside the convention.
Right.
Um,
and that's real,
no,
no,
Americans are like,
they,
they,
when you're,
when you're like,
during the con like, nah.
But then when it's like 9 p.m.,
it's like the devil's come out.
They binge drink into oblivion.
Like, we're staying up till 5 a.m.
Yeah, I'm like, damn.
Where's in the UK?
I guess we just kind of start at like 12
and we just don't stop.
Yeah.
Day drinks.
Yeah.
It's pace.
It's pace.
Yeah, we're pacing ourselves.
