Legendary director Ridley Scott returns in IMAX.
It's no surprise how fast civilization can disappear.
Go!
Out there, just kill or be killed.
Jacob Allorty.
There are people out there.
They need our help.
Josh Brolin.
Shoot first and inquire afterwards.
Margaret Kwali.
Okay, tough guy.
And Guy Pearce.
Arm up.
The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott, now playing in theaters.
That's the sound of summer, right? That's the sound of summer, right? That's the sound of summer.
This fucking, me, me, me.
Dude, at the gymnasium I got it at swimming at today, there's like a, I don't know,
they say like a bunch of trees or something near it. It is inaudible, like you're talking.
You can't hear it because of the cicadas. There's so many of them.
Yeah. If there's just two, it's all, it's, it's like up there with like a Taylor Swift concert in terms of like
decibels, you know.
Insane.
I love the higurasis, though.
Like, like, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
Like, during the, when the sun goes down.
I don't hear those.
That's my favorite sound.
There's no fucking trees in Tokyo.
Where do these fucking bugs go?
I was in Fuji, you know?
Oh, okay, okay.
That's unfair.
Living a little anime life drag.
Yeah.
The anime man.
I was like, I'm about to be fucking murdered out of it.
When I hear that, I just, I'm like,
oh, gone.
I'm like making a new higigera shoo or some shit?
Yeah, I think they are.
Yeah, they are.
It's weird that I hear cicadas, and my first thought is like, summer horror anime.
I don't know why all the horror anime is, like, set in summer.
It's...
Because time is longer.
Winter, no one goes outside.
No one's killing in winter.
There's too much effort.
It's too cold.
Yes, Connor.
There is no horror set in winter at all.
None.
No, the...
Fargo, the shining.
Winter's a different kind of horror.
Summer is horror of, like, you know, chill.
Well, in Japan, like, the reason why, like, horror stories, like, ghost stories are told you in the winter is, like, it's the whole idea of, oh, the chills that you get from listening to the stories cools your body down.
What?
That's actually what it is, yeah.
You can look it up.
But that's the whole reason why, like, telling ghost stories in the summer is, like, the season for it.
No, I don't understand because the summer, the summer just doesn't feel scary, you know.
type of shit people will tell you when they don't want you to install AC.
Yeah.
It is the most like Japanese reason.
That is so bizarre.
Yeah, see?
Goosepumps and a cold chill down the spine
help distract from the oppressive summer heat and humidity.
So it calls you down.
Is it because most of the...
I told you.
I wasn't lying.
Most of like the folk tale.
I don't agree with it.
I think the reasoning is fucking stupid,
but that's what they've been doing for...
Is it because like most of the folktale
like centered around like summer?
themed events or...
Maybe. I don't know. But I think
it's just, yeah. I mean,
according to fucking Google AI, it says
before air conditioning, people discovered
that it like, it cools your body down.
Fair enough. Yeah. Damn.
Welcome back to another episode of Trash Taste.
I'm your host, Conn. Once again, join by the boys,
Joey and Gantt. Yeah. And
he gets been up to.
It's fucking going on,
boy. Yeah, it's crap, I swear
instantly. Oh my God.
God, gosh, darn it.
You're gonna, freaking,
you're being a silly boy once again.
Whoa.
Sorry, sorry.
Whoa.
We actually have to hard bleak that one.
We can't include that.
We actually will get demonetized fully for that one.
You can do like a little shit or come,
but you can't do that one.
Oh, man.
You can't fully cut that one out.
This place sucks.
Yeah.
Well, uh, we just go back from America.
We did.
America. Once again. We competed. We competed. The Olympics. The streamers. The what? Unemployed people.
Yeah. Okay. We competed in the streamer games. The, the unemployment games.
Well, yeah. Well, yeah. So it's the unemployment games. So yeah, we completed the unemployed
games. Team UK. You see? Nope. That's a good thing. Where do you think we came? One through eight.
One through eight? You were team UK? Yes.
Seventh? Eight. Hey. Let's go. We were a team.
Team vibes, baby.
By a mile too.
Yeah, but that's good
because you were playing in the unemployment games
and you came eighth, right?
Which means you guys technically are the most employed.
I'm not sure how that works, right?
Oh no, that's how that works, no?
Yes.
I try to give you guys the benefit.
It was a disaster.
What happened?
What didn't happen? What didn't go wrong?
Everything went wrong.
Okay.
But we had the vibes.
Yeah, we had the vibes going, which was good, you know.
That's the only thing we bought to this.
That's what we came first in. Definitely not wins. We came first in vibes. Yeah. Look at that.
Who is that giant next to God? That is soil. Yeah. God damn. He's huge. He is huge.
Six foot seven, all man. God damn. King of musical chairs. King of musical chairs. He won musical chairs.
Well, yeah, unsurprisingly. Because everyone who went up against him just bounced off him in
music. Bernie's a chair per ass cheek. Yeah. God damn, dude.
But yeah, we participated in the streamer games and both me and Connor through our solo, one of our solo events.
What did you compete in?
Connor had the most like trash taste moment of all time.
I was so hyped. I thought I'd fucking win.
Yeah, so there were a bunch of games.
The best way to describe this, Joey, is it's like, it's Mario Party IRL.
Okay.
There were some like physical games and then there were some more like party games like musical chairs and stuff like that.
And we all had to take part in like two events, two solo events.
And so the way our team went about it was we all picked one event and one of when we definitely wanted to do and then we'd feel like something else.
And the one event Connor picked was archery.
Welsh blood.
Yeah.
Your Welsh heritage.
The Welsh flag.
The Welsh heritage.
Connor was like, I feel like I can do pretty well in archery.
Sure. In his own words, he was like, I feel like I can get top four. You know, that, I remember that.
Okay. And everyone was like, oh, everyone on our team was like, oh, Connor, Connor must be pretty good at archery.
Because you've done it a bunch of times, right? I've done it. And I felt very confident. Yeah. He was very confident.
Yeah, I mean, in the road trip special, when we did Yuba Summit, you came first. Yeah. Never been bad at archery. Yeah. Never happened. Yeah. And I remember, and that was the exact moment, being Conner's, connor's mate. I was like, fuck, Conner's.
Conner's confident.
This is not a good sign.
This is a bad moment right now.
It's like, I've seen this before.
Flashbacks of every trash taste special,
Connor being 100% confidence.
Don was maybe correct.
Yes.
I did not do well.
I was like...
You just fumbled the shots or what?
Yes.
Okay. Yeah.
I don't want to talk about it.
It was terrible.
I want to hear.
I will talk about it.
I want to hear the details.
I will talk about it because he can describe my events.
describe my events.
Sure, okay, I got words.
Just should get me back, but I remember watching Connor go up,
does a test shot, right?
Misses the target completely.
And then they're like, okay, okay, okay,
don't worry, don't worry.
She's warming up, that was test when he was calibrating.
Yeah, yeah.
Goes again, misses the target again.
And at this point, I'm like, I really don't,
I really hope we don't have choke dog today.
How small is this target we're speaking of?
It's not that small.
Just like a regular archery?
It's like a fair distance, good size.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
And then as we keep going on, I'm like, are we still in like the testing phase?
Is he still collaborating?
Is he still like calibrating?
And then I realized, oh no, the events actually started.
We are counting the points.
And by the end of it, I was like, my bro, my bro has gotten zero points.
I couldn't hit the fucking target.
Oh, you just didn't hit one.
Not a single time.
God damn.
He hit one or,
on the target, but it was the cloth.
That was the closest that he got.
So, yeah, we came last in that event, unfortunately.
But then it was time for my events.
And it was crate stacking. Do you know crate stacking, Jerry?
Like, is like, up stacking, but on a bigger scale?
You like stack crates and, like, climb them.
Oh, okay, okay, Joe, because I didn't know what, I didn't know what,
I didn't know what crate stacking was either.
Okay.
But I agreed to do it, right?
I thought, how hard could it be?
Right.
Just pile up some boxes.
Just pile up some boxes.
Yeah.
Apparently it was a little bit more complicated than what I thought.
Okay.
Because I also came last in that event.
I can tell you what happened from my perspective.
Sure.
Yeah.
So I'm, you know, we sent gone up.
And to be fair, all of us thought that you,
because I'd never ever seen this crate stacking where you don't stack one crate,
climb it, stack one crate, climb.
So you're kind of straddling these crates as you're adding them.
Right.
Yeah.
You're using the, you know, because crates have.
of handholds, you're kind of using your foot to jam into that to climb it.
Oh, okay.
And that was what I think we all thought.
Yeah.
I don't know if you thought that too.
Okay, here's what, here's what happened, uh, because what happened was I'd never
done crate stacking before.
And, uh, so that was like my, that was like my auto fill, right?
Where I was like, fuck it.
No one wants to do it.
I'll do it.
Uh, what is crate stacking?
So I search up crate stacking on like YouTube and, uh, basically this, this, this is what I see.
Holy shit.
This is what I see. Single pillar.
Single pillar. That's a stream of game, so that didn't show up.
But, like, basically, I was, like, going through a few shorts of people doing crate stacking.
And it was basically, like, single pillar, you climb up, you climb up as you're stacking the crates.
Okay.
And I went first as well. So there was no one to set the example.
Sure.
I set the example of what not to do.
So we start stacking the crates, right?
And I start stacking a pillar.
and then Lodge starts shouting at me.
He's like, no, no, no, no, no,
you've got to be on, on the crates, on the crate.
Okay.
Yeah, that was strange, though,
because, like, you're nearly always have to stack it while you're on it.
So I was like, oh, you laid one, you didn't get on it.
I was like, why is you not getting on it?
So I interpreted that as I've just got to,
I didn't, I've got to be on the tower.
So I put my foot into like a single crate.
I didn't know, I didn't know, I misinterpreted it to be on the tower.
not on top of the crate itself.
Oh, I see, I see.
Because a lot of the towers, they're like, kind of like, it's almost like rock climbing, right?
Right, right.
And so I keep, so I just start stacking this tower.
And then I look over and I see the opposite team as like two crates.
And they go and they're like alternating from like one crate to the other.
Yeah.
And I already have this big fucking tower that I'm currently like climbing on.
And I was like, oh, I fucked up.
I fucked up.
What I was confused by is that you, you stacked like, so you did this.
And I was like, why is you not getting on it?
Because it's like, you know.
Yeah.
Because I.
So gone had like three crates that were stacked and was just standing next to it.
Yeah.
And then there was like confusion here.
I was like, like, what's going on here?
I was so confused, right?
Because I was like, because I was like, okay, we're just, you're just, you're just, you're
just meant to climb up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought it was about how many crates you get,
like, on this, like, big tower. No, no, no, you're going to climb it. Yes, yes. I really,
you didn't even know you had to climb it. Sorry? You didn't know you had to climb it, but I thought
climbing it on the side would be like, I think that's way harder. Yeah, that is way harder. Yeah,
like, it's way easier. You barely got a grip on that show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. And,
uh, so, like, the second, like, rule confusion was as soon as I realized, I was like,
okay, we're gonna start making two.
And I asked Zoyle,
can you like put the crates on, right?
Because if I'm climbing up this tower,
I will put my foot down and slowly
climb up and Zoyle can put the crate
underneath me and I'll
slowly climb up. What I didn't understand is like
you did this. It's like you have five crates
on one and one crate on the other.
How are you envisioning this climb?
Yeah. Because I was like, wait, wait, wait, wait.
If you're now you're doing two, why are you on one
crate and I was stacking the other one. I didn't understand. So, so, I was so, I was so
confused. You made it, you made it so much more difficult. Yeah, yeah. I've never seen anyone
do this. So, so I will explain, right? I'll explain. Uh, because I don't know why, I don't know why
in my mind, I was like, I'm on the crates, therefore I can't get off the crates. Yeah, I, I thought that
I agree with that. Yeah, yeah. So I was like, okay, shit, I've already committed to being on. So if I can, uh, if I can kind of like, I was trying to like stand on one side and put like the crates on the other side as I like slowly climb up. Um, but like you keep adding to this side. I'm like, I'm, you know what I mean? Like I'm confused why you keep adding and making the tower unscalable. Uh, okay. So the reason for that was because Zohr keep handing me crates and I was just like, I don't know what to do with these crates. So I'm like, I don't know what to do with these crates. So I'm,
I'll put them on here while I figure out how to like fix this problem that I've gotten myself in.
And I think I'm asking Zoh, hey, can you put the crates underneath my foot?
And Zohel's like, I can't do that.
That's against the rules.
That wasn't against the rules.
So he kept having me crates.
And I'm here.
We did have to go first.
Yeah, I'm here trying to figure out, okay, how do I get this crate, this, like some of these crates on this tower underneath my foot?
You could have gone for a third stack to kind of figure out.
you know, what was going on here.
Yeah, yeah. I mean, there's a lot of things,
there's a lot of things I could have done, you know.
And I was so, so I was just,
an interesting move here. I was like, this is,
your other crate is way too high to offer any support here.
Can you not move the crates?
Yeah, you could have, I guess.
Yeah.
I mean, also then there's like panic, right?
Because I'm like, oh, everyone's watching me
and this is going horribly.
Yeah, so, so like, yeah, I fucked up, basically.
Jesus Christ!
I fucked up.
But I did set the example of what not to do in craigsacking.
And you were number 69.
Very nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So this was, this was honestly just a complete disaster.
Yeah.
Yeah, I wanted to go again, but, you know, unfortunately, rules of the game.
Yeah.
You got to take the rules.
It was unfortunate that we had to go first.
Yeah.
Wouldn't have played out like this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So Gant's been dreaming about this.
I have nightmares every day.
I haven't actually.
No.
It's not, this, this one, I was just like,
I was disappointed I went first, but I feel like, you know, I genuinely feel like if I just knew, properly, like, understood, like, what I was meant to do.
Yeah.
I could have done, like, a little bit better. This is just embarrassing, you know.
But, you know, I take that, I take that on the gin.
Well, I truly keeps me up at night.
Is the pens?
Oh, no.
The one?
We had a penalty shootout at the end.
Yeah.
Oh.
The other, that was, so we all had to pick two events.
Yeah.
And in the penalty shootouts, there's a unique thing where you could pick to be the solo and you'd be the goalkeeper. So Gantt wanted to be the goalie. And then my other thing, my other solo thing was bull riding. They had a mechanical ball. Yeah. I got hoed. Okay. The machine went way harder on me. Right, right. It came fifth, but I should have got first.
Your grip strength wasn't enough. No, I had the grip strength. They, they put that thing on Dicco mode when it was my time.
Oh, right. Anyway, Garn, Gant was our keeper. Yeah.
He did some great dives.
Yeah, I was like, okay, it was the last event, right?
And this event was worth double points.
We were dead last.
But if we performed well in penalties,
we could have at least gotten up the standings a little bit, right?
And so I'm UK, English.
I was like, this is our game.
You know, we're playing against like Americans and Canadians.
Retribution for FIFA.
Yes, yes.
I was like, I'm sure some of these people have never kicked a football in their life.
Okay, this is our game.
This is the one that we've got to perform on.
And so what happens is I'm in goal and we're doing pretty well, right?
We are, do you know how penalties work in like football?
You get it in or you don't get it in?
Yeah, exactly.
Like, it's basically that, but the teams alternate taking penalties.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it's best of five.
I've played the Mari-Potty mini-game.
Okay, okay.
Awesome.
They have a penalty shoot out of Mario?
Yeah, in the older games.
Yeah.
So, Connor scores our first penalty.
Mm-hmm.
And then I think the next person misses one.
Mm-hmm.
And then...
Three people miss.
Three people missed.
But Jason the wean did score against me.
Mm-hmm.
He slotted it right in the corner.
Mm-hmm.
And then I was going up...
And then I was going up against a stream called Wardrobe, right?
And you got to share this.
You've got to show this.
Okay.
I will explain audio listeners after the fact, but we're going to pull it up for Joey.
Pull it up for Joe.
I think whatever Garm will describe won't do this clip justice.
Okay.
So I think it's one of the highlights people have said.
Yeah, it is, it is a big clip.
So go to about the middle part.
He should have, he should have uploaded the pens by itself, Kai.
Is this?
Yeah, because this is my Vod, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, just go penalty shootout.
Yeah, so, uh, so one important rule while he's loading it up, one important rule in penalties, uh, is that you are not allowed to fake a kick.
Right?
That makes sense.
You are not allowed to, you, when you, once you run up, you can like stutter you run up.
But once you get to the ball, you need to kick it.
You have to kick it.
You need to kick it.
That's, that's mainly in place because in professional, but,
obviously like, you know, they have to predict before they hit.
Yeah.
Because there's no reaction time.
Obviously, in like, I'm like shitty football.
That's not really an issue.
But obviously, professional, like, they are diving in a direction predetermined.
Yeah.
Because another rule that was implemented in the streamer games as well.
Should be like three, four minutes in.
It's my guess.
I think.
Do you want to, oh, is this?
Okay.
Here we go.
You can.
Do you want to go to Ludwig's?
one, because this is still like Connors one. You can go to...
Yeah, probably the Ludwig penalties.
Yeah. But one of the rules that was implemented was the goalkeeper needs to stay on his
line until the penalty is kicked, right? That is an official like World Cup rule.
So we were informed about that. So I came in with the assumption, okay, we're playing
like real penalty rules here. It is currently tied at 1-1. Go back just a...
one. This back to school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary,
mom, overthinker, and someone who has a complicated relationship with the back to school supply list.
Can we just be honest for a second? Kids are expensive. Last year, I went all out on my daughter's
school supplies, color-coded folders, the fancy pencil case, gel pens and 17 colors she absolutely
needed. By October, she had one pencil left. One. I don't know what happened to the rest,
and honestly, neither does she.
Amazon has everything your kids need for back-to-school at prices that won't make you want to cry in the school supply aisle.
Great prices, huge selection, and when half of it goes missing by October, at least you didn't break the bank.
So remember, with Amazon's low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them.
No, no.
Oh, yeah, that was a save then?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, okay, so team UK is currently tied up 1-1.
Okay.
Unfortunately thing about our team,
maybe me and Garn are the only ones
who have like experience in any of these sports.
Right.
So like the, unfortunately,
Zoil doesn't really know how to kick a ball.
Yeah.
And unfortunately, the girls also didn't know how to kick a ball.
Yeah.
So it was kind of like,
Gant had to just lock in as a keeper.
Yeah.
Which is hard to do.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, this is the kick.
All right, so wardrobe comes up, right?
And I've had, I did a lot of practice in keeping.
So I was feeling confident that I could save this.
You know, Jason's penalty was pretty hard.
It's like this one's for the World Cup.
Yeah. And so, yeah, does that.
Oh, shit.
Holy fuck.
And so wardrobe does.
a little ritual before he takes the kick.
Bro fucking twerked on your ass.
Yeah, I get stun locked a little bit.
And I'm in two minds because I'm like,
is this penalty going to be canceled?
Is it what's going on?
Yeah, because you fake out.
You can see me like hesitate a bit.
And then I was like, oh, wait, it's going.
Yeah, I saved it though.
I think I've reacted about half a second too late.
And it sucks because I was like,
I feel like I could have saved that one.
I got a hand on it.
And so I run up to Ludd.
I run up to Ludd, as you can see here.
And I'm like,
mate, that's against the rules.
You know it's against the rules, right?
And a lot publicly says it's against the rules.
But we're going with rule of cool, right?
We're going of rule of cool here.
So the penalty still counts.
And I'm like, okay, the UK has been fucked over
this entire stream of games.
I get a little bit tilted.
Can I pause here for a bit?
Pause here.
So then it is one two against the UK, right?
I need to score this penalty.
to bring it even, right?
I'm a little bit tilted.
I'm not gonna lie.
I'm not gonna lie.
I'm a little bit tilted.
For Ludwig, for,
for kind of like bending the rules.
I get it, you know, as a streamer,
you wanna make a good event.
Yeah, yeah.
It's, it's, I get the rule of cool,
but I'm definitely a little bit tilted.
And I'm like, I'm gonna fucking top bin this.
I'm not gonna go for a safe pen.
I'm gonna go for the clip.
You know, he, like wardrobe just made a clip.
I'm gonna make a clip.
I'm gonna make a beg, I'm gonna make a better clip.
Sure.
In my head, right?
Sure.
So I was like, no bullshit.
I'm gonna put my laces through this and go for the top corner since no one's done it.
No one's done that yet.
Okay.
And so, Kai, play the clip.
All right, here we go.
Running up.
Oh, that is, that's actually tragic.
That is so, dude, you were so fucking close.
It was a great shot.
It was a great kick.
Wow.
Wow, that was, oh, that is just unfit.
Oh, bro, on the line.
If it angled like a tiny bit more.
Yeah, it would have been in.
Yeah.
It would have bounced in, right?
Yeah.
It was just so unlucky.
So, for audio listeners, I hit the crossbar.
It bounced down, hit the line, and then bounced out.
Yeah.
Right in the top corner.
And then, you're not missing out.
Just got getting cucked.
Yeah.
And you know what?
I will say this is the most English I've ever felt in my life.
Yeah.
Because if there's one thing...
You know what? History really does repeat itself.
I was like, maybe it's just...
Maybe it's just in my blood, man.
It was just...
It's never coming home, bro.
Yeah, it's never coming home.
Two more penalty shootouts after this.
We lost both of them.
Oh, man.
Me and on with the...
No, I was the only player who scored in our team.
Yeah, I didn't take...
What the fuck?
I didn't get to take another kick.
Yeah, because the other guys on our team
never got a goal.
Oh, I see.
So I guess I was the only one who scored on our team.
Yeah.
Fuck. I didn't realize that.
It's funny. I was like, oh, yeah, of course, the in person who scores on Team UK is the Welshman.
Yeah.
That's what they saw the comments. They were like, sometimes it just takes a Welshman to carry England.
It does.
And in Dodgeball, I was doing so fucking good.
And then suddenly Gantt got out. I didn't realize how Gant got out.
Guess how Gant got out in Dodgeball.
I mean, you fucking stepped over the line.
And there's no one else on my team that can throw or do any.
anything in Dodgeball. Yeah. So Garne was my only hope of having another person helped me out.
Yeah. And he fucking stepped over the line. Yeah. So I was like trying to 1v5. And then I got myself out.
Do you know what event I really did enjoy? What? Volleyball. What? We didn't get to play.
I got like one touch and I'm happy with that touch. And I don't know. You got to fulfill
his high-keen dreams. Yeah. Have you ever played volleyball before? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We played beach
beach volleyball. Yeah, I, I, this was like my first time ever playing volleyball. It's fun. And I had like
one diving save. It was good. Like one of those. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like one of those and they got it
over the net and I'm like, oh, I think this is awakening something. Oh, that was a good. Hiky was right.
The sad thing is we had like one more player who was comfortable because the, unfortunately,
the two girls didn't, uh, were very scared because the ball kind of goes pretty high. Yeah, they never played
volleyball either. They didn't really want to touch it. Uh, and, unfortunately. Uh, we're, we're very scared. Uh,
And so I had also never played.
So I think if we had like three people who were kind of a little bit more confident,
it would have really helped a lot, just kind of close it out.
Because I think we were both trying very hard to cover more ground than we should.
Yeah.
Like I'm worried about this ball going literally anywhere when it's like I should just only be really be worrying about your area.
Yeah.
But yeah, it made it really difficult.
Yeah.
Damn.
And I think we were because the first year I did it, I got to the finals.
I loved it.
It was so much fun.
Yeah.
But yeah, unfortunately.
Yeah.
volleyball is like a lot of fun.
I want to play it again.
It's really fun if everyone's like super down and doesn't mind.
Yeah,
I feel like it's because the skill floor for volleyball
is just a lot higher than other sports
because it takes a lot of like precision.
I mean, even just returning the ball is like
really hard to get like the control and the ball.
And the angle as well.
Right.
Without getting smacked in the face.
And like setting is fun.
Yeah.
You know, doing those dive saves is fun.
That's why Beach is really good because you don't mind jumping.
Yeah, yeah.
Beach is, I had a lot of fun playing beach when I was in high school because like,
because you're on soft sand.
You can just die whenever the fuck you want.
Yeah.
And you never got hurt.
Well, Japan, they fucking love volleyball.
They do.
I mean, the team's good.
Japan fucking loves volleyball.
Dad, this is, this is, don't play this.
Kai pulled up a clip of us playing.
It was embarrassing.
I think the only certain point we got was when they failed to serve, right?
I don't remember.
I don't remember doing anything of value.
Yeah.
But like one thing I will say is playing a,
these streamer games, I did understand why every NFL player, oh, no, is when I returned it.
Oh, there's my touch. Hey, there's my touch. I got our only point. Let's go.
That's a point. That was big. That's one one, too, so we had hope. Yeah. Huge. Yeah.
We then lost the entire. But one, one thing I do understand off playing the streamer games was like,
why every NFL player, like, uh, complains about fake grass. Do this grass sucks?
Oh my God. My knee is still fucked up. Look. Yeah. I'm sorry on your listeners. I mean,
Oh, damn.
I did one casual little dive.
Yeah.
And it tore my fucking knee apart.
Yeah.
I did, like, a few dives in, like, the penalty shootout and in volleyball as well.
It fucked up my knees so bad.
Yeah.
Is it even real grass or it's just like AstroTurf?
It's AstroTurf and there's gravel underneath the AstroTurf.
The fuck?
So, number one, there's like no sliding on it as well.
Because I'm used to like real grass football pitches.
Yeah.
And you can do like slide tackles and everything.
You don't need to worry.
You do one slide on this AstroTurf, you're donezo.
You are, you, that's why all the NFL players are armoured up.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Just don't get eaten by the AstroTurf.
Yeah.
The only other thing that was fun, Simon Says is always fun.
Simon Says?
They have a professional Simon Says guy.
He's really good.
How does that work?
He is just kind of very good at doing the commands and getting people out.
Yeah.
It's actually super fun.
But no one on our team was confident.
it turned out I guess I should have been more confident
yeah you were the best player I didn't realize
because I did so badly the first time I played it
the two years ago
but they had like heats
so you'd go against every team would send a player
and you'd go against
turned out when I went when I went to go play
I literally played against the two people who like won
but I was like this is so bullshit
so we didn't go through
and I was like in the final like going against them
so it was tough
Simon says it's hard though
you have to like empty your brain
I think it got older
it got easier the older I got.
I was cooked.
I remember we were like,
everyone was like gassing me up being like,
you'll go.
I thought you'd be so good at it.
You're going to be so good.
And we did like a few practice rounds.
I literally like,
I wasn't participating,
but I was like practicing in the background.
I literally like got out in like the first like,
first little trick.
I was like,
did you take your ADHD meds?
Yeah.
I was like, you're going to be fucking locked.
Yeah, you're locked in.
It turns out.
No, he would not.
No.
I was like,
I was like, in my mind, I was like,
either I'm gonna be go to this game.
Yeah. Or I'm fucked.
Turns out I was fucked.
Like, try and focus.
For me, I found the technique that really helped
was like buffering. Like,
because you'd notice when I played,
I was noticeably slower at doing everything
than everyone else because I would kind of buffer,
like, like, kind of like listen to the command coming up
so that I could kind of like play.
Yeah. This is the one that,
this is the loser's bracket where all of us were in.
And so I think like generally I was a bit slower and that kind of allowed me a bit more time.
But at some points he goes really fast.
Right.
So he starts going like Simon says hands up.
Simon says wave.
Samus says stop.
Simon says hands down.
Simon says right hand up.
Left hand down.
And then you're like, oh, he's such getting fucking crazy.
Yeah.
Slow went out instantly, bro.
It really fucks with your brain.
You could just skip forward like, uh, yeah.
Yeah, like probably like another minute, you know.
Yeah.
Yeah, but Connor was the last one representing on our team.
It gets hard, though.
It gets really, really hard, really difficult.
And yeah, that was basically our abysmal performance at the streamer games.
Yeah, I'm sure bad.
But I had fun.
That's good.
That's, you know what, at the end of the day?
As long as you had fun, that's all that matters.
Well, you got to watch The Odyssey, so that was good.
Oh, how was it?
We got to watch it in 70mm iMacs.
The way Nolan intended.
The way Nolan intended.
Is it as contentious as the internet is making it out to be?
But the internet's fucking stupid.
What's I heard about?
Oh, it's just the, you know, like right wing shit.
They just try to make it out like the Odyssey was like woke and was going to fail.
Oh.
Yeah.
I have no idea.
Yeah, it used to be terminally online.
I generally did not know.
Like, did not know or care about this.
Right.
Yeah.
I mean, people usually complain about that
weren't going to watch it anyway.
I thought the controversy was like
it was a shit film or something.
No.
Well, they thought they'd already said
it was going to be a shit film.
Yeah, before it even came out, basically.
Damn, this is the first I'm hearing of this.
No, it was really good.
It was, it turned up really well.
Yeah.
It was really fun.
I mean, it's...
I don't want to watch it.
It's a cool experience to get to watch a film
in 70mmmmy imax
and like the whole thing is shot in it.
I didn't know this, but it...
Because, you know, you always see these films
that like shot on IMAX.
No films ever filmed the whole thing on IMAX.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because have you seen the IMAX cameras?
No.
Can you pull up IMAX camera?
It's actually ridiculous.
And also, IMAX camera noise afterwards, type that in.
The noise these cameras make is actually ridiculous.
God damn.
So the camera is fucking huge.
That's like an 80s TV program like camera.
The camera is fucking huge.
Yeah.
So they needed to build a custom rig to dampen the noise of this IMAX
camera, right.
Which, can you search of iMax camera Odyssey?
Yeah.
And then, okay, also show the noise
because I think like the noise of the camera
is fucking ridiculous. Jesus.
Yeah, so they needed to put it in.
Go back, I saw the thing, I can show you that.
Press back.
Oh, sorry.
It is, go down.
No, no, no, that's not the rig.
The rig is that one. That's the rig.
Yeah.
They built this sound dampening rig.
Because the noise of an IMAX camera is so loud.
Jesus.
Because you can hear all the film.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So if you type in IMAX camera sound as well.
So you're basically, they basically just invented like a fridge, you know,
that you constantly have to use to film these, film this film.
And it was so big that they had to have like mirror systems.
So the actors could see each other as they're talking to each other
because there's no way to.
Like a mirror here and a mirror here on the camera.
Yeah.
other guy could stand here.
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah.
So you show the first one.
The first one is the correct click.
This clip will show how loud it is.
That's the IMAX camera.
Holy fuck.
That's not the crane.
That's the camera.
That's the camera.
That's the film like being like shot on.
Yeah.
That's pretty cool, actually.
And it can only record, I believe, three minutes of footage.
Yeah.
In one reel.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That makes sense.
So Nolan is a fucking.
madman for wanting to film an entire epic using this technique.
They shot the whole whole thing on that.
Damn.
So that's the reason why no one fucking films on it.
Yeah.
But I think just seeing it in the cinema, even if the movie isn't the greatest movie
for all time, is like awesome.
Just because it feels so epic.
Yeah.
And we had great seeds.
We were right in the back in the middle.
Yeah.
It was loud.
I'm actually, theaters are loud.
Yeah.
I mean, my one gripe with the film was you, your,
eardrums are getting blown away.
They are having a spiritual moment.
It's all right.
I have tenets, so it's probably fine.
Yeah, yeah.
It's basically like being in a concert.
Yeah.
And then you hear the dialogue and it's like,
Yeah, the dialogue.
I wish there were subtitles.
I wanted to turn on the subtitles.
I hate that so much.
Like,
so much modern film,
like movies I've seen
have such a problem with that
where it's like,
the sound mixing is just like,
I don't know what's up with that.
It's also crazy because,
like,
Whenever you watch film at home, this is a problem,
and they say, well, it's because it's mixed for cinemas.
And then I'm in the cinema, I can't fucking hear it, right?
So who's it mixed for?
It's like, someone's talking and you're just like,
can you turn it up?
And then when they turn it up and an explosion happens,
then you're just like,
that's why like, I, you know, truthly,
I turn on the dialogue boost most of the time
or I just have subtitles on.
Yeah, I just have subtitles on now.
It's annoying.
I think we, have you noticed that nearly all of our media now
is like with subtitles, though?
Like YouTube video shorts.
Everything is all subtitles.
It's like subtitles enabled by default now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Pretty much.
It's interesting how I think we've kind of swung really far in the other direction.
Yeah.
Exactly.
I think for a long time, people hated subtitles.
Yeah.
But I mean, I would say it is a fantastic film.
I probably will never watch again.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
It's three hours.
It was three hours.
And unlike some three-hour films, this one definitely felt like three hours, you know.
Like in an all good way.
And like, you know, they definitely made you feel like Odysseus was away for like half of a lifetime.
Because I felt that bit sitting in the Sin Marcy.
Right.
You're a big reader, Joe.
Have you read the original Iliad or the...
I have not.
I have...
I own the Iliad and the Odyssey in, like, on my shelf, but I haven't actually started reading it yet.
Did you have to read it in school?
No, I didn't actually, yeah.
I've always wanted to.
I didn't have to read it in school.
Did you not?
No.
Maybe the curriculum change.
It's my turn.
Because I read,
I read to kill a mockingbird.
I read to kill a mockingbird.
I did not read that.
And Lord of the Flies is all I had to read.
I didn't read Royal The Flies.
I read one of the Shakespeare.
I remember which one.
I think it might have been in the Tempest.
Or Hamlet.
No, it was Hamlet.
I read Romeo and Juliet.
And I did Romeo and Juliet.
Did you do Dr. Jackal or Mr. Hyde?
No.
Okay, we had to read that one.
That sounds fun.
That was a fun one.
That was a very fun.
And The Odyssey. We had to read The Odyssey as well.
I would say, if you can, read it before you watch.
I think it actually helps to kind of like know the story a bit because certainly gloss over some things in this obviously because obviously it's quite a long book.
Yeah.
The like the cinematography, as everyone has said, is like fantastic.
Like everything looks fucking awesome.
Yeah.
The effects are sick.
Yeah.
I think that when we all left the theater, the one thing that we all agreed that was kind of like not great was like the dialogue is kind of.
like we all laughed at the opening scene
because there's a he's like eating this poison lotus
this is not really a spoiler
look it's what the book's also been out for like
it's a 3,000 year old book by the way brother
I mean also even if you
in the sense of like hey I get it
you don't want to be spoiled if you don't know it
this doesn't spoil it there's an opening scene where he's like
eating this poison lotus and
I've got a name is it Calypso
Calypso Calypso
is like stop eating it
and he's like but I want to
It's like, it's like the dialogue is just so...
But I'm hungry.
It's like very modern.
And it doesn't feel good.
Yeah.
And then also like a lot of points in the story,
they like very much,
I would say like,
I don't know what to say American eyes.
They clean him up.
Like Odysseus, you know,
like there's points in the,
okay, I'm just gonna spoil it if you don't,
if you don't care, you can skip ahead like two minutes.
It's like points in the story where like,
because he's on a 20 fucking year journey.
where he like is kind of shipwrecked
and is on this island
and there's this woman who's kind of like
mind controlling him and he has kids
with her in the book, two kids
and they just say they just don't include
that and they also kind of don't include
that there's any kind of romantic thing, although you can kind of discern
that they kind of is in the film, although they
very much try to avoid it. I think it's kind of
dissuade you from thinking like, is he shooting
on his wife? Is he should have gone on half way?
It's like, bro, he's gone for 20 years.
He's going to have some fucking airs.
All right, I'm sorry. Also,
So social norms, 3,000 years ago.
Yeah, a little bit different.
Let's get him to give a fuck.
A little bit different, okay?
All right.
He was banging back then, okay?
Are you telling me he wasn't
pilling in pillaging every fucking place they stopped at along the way?
I'm sorry, they were doing that.
Like, people were dying at age 30, like on average.
Zeus's law was already gone at this point, bro.
He was already doing some bullshit.
Yeah.
Like, I think that's the only gripe is that it does feel like very modernized
in some ways that don't necessarily feel good.
They feel more like safe choices.
whereas I feel like the draw of those older stories
is that they often have, you know,
you kind of have to come to terms of these characters
that, you know, wouldn't really fit in a modern sense,
but are really fun to look back through an older lens, right?
And they kind of challenge how you feel of like,
well, why have we accepted these cultural norms have changed?
Like, why am I, why do I feel like I don't enjoy seeing him?
Because, you know, monogony and all this stuff is a, you know,
is a kind of like a Christian concept anyway.
So, like, kind of kind of having to analyze it through that lens is really fun.
So to kind of take that away from the story, it kind of doesn't do it justice in a sense.
But, you know, that's a very small gripe where I'm like, he should fuck.
I want to see his fucking kids.
He should fuck and I want to see him doing it.
I want to see Matt Damon Cock and I want to see it now.
But, you know, like, it's not a big deal.
But it kind of is in the sense of like you're kind of robbing some characterization there.
It takes it away from it a little bit.
Yeah.
And the end of the issue for me is that, like, I think we all agreed, like Tom Holland is like,
And Matt Damon's also, he's fine.
Yeah, he's fine.
He's fine.
He's fine.
He's fine.
Matt Damon's great at
doing a solid job.
Yeah.
In most of his films.
More so than Brad Pitt,
because I think Brad Pitt phones it in,
in a way.
I don't know how to,
I'm trying to,
because they're in the same kind of space in my mind.
What do you think?
I think we've had this exact conversation before,
but,
uh,
I can't look at Matt Damon and not see Matt Damon.
Yeah, yeah.
He never disappears into a role.
Yeah.
Like Matt Damon never becomes a Daniel DeLuess.
He never like fully transits, like transitions.
He never fully transforms himself over a role.
I think that's fine.
Like in a discus, you don't need, like, well, there is no transformation.
He did his job in The Odyssey.
I got no complaints about his performance.
I think, you know, Rob Patton, you know, left a deeper, deeper impression in me, if I'm being honest.
Yeah, he's so good at it.
He's got the best clip, too.
Have you seen it?
The beggars clip.
Yeah.
No, I'm purposely not trying to see any of us because I do want to actually watch it.
He's got this one quote that is admittedly very fun to quote.
Oh, yeah, I forgot Travis Scott is in this.
He's getting it too.
He's fine.
He's got like two lines.
He's great.
And Hathaway's great.
Tom Holtz's okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I get Tom Holland again is a Matt Damon in a sense where like I feel like Tom Holland.
And, you know, unfortunately, I don't think he really like pushes himself in certain ways.
Maybe it's the Spider-Man comfort.
It's the Spider-Man-y-ness.
Look, his American action is phenomenal on that.
I'll give it to him, right?
He's killed it with that.
And that's a transformation at end of itself
that is very difficult to do.
Yeah.
You don't necessarily need a transformation,
but I just, Tom Holland for me
was a bit of a struggle to kind of see him
in this role.
And I struggled to separate him from just like,
what's Spider-Man called?
His name?
Peter Parker.
Yeah.
It's kind of like Peter Parker
if he was in the Odyssey.
It felt like at times.
3,000-year-old Peter Parker.
Yeah.
Because the characters aren't so different
than the characterization that he gave them.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I think the best way
that I can describe this, Joey,
is it feels like a $200 million stage play.
Yeah, right, right.
It does, it did feel like a stage play,
but just with way bigger set pieces.
But you had this, like, classic feel to it,
which I feel like Nolan did a good job at maintaining.
Probably not my top five.
Nolan films, but
it's...
But, I mean, it's not bad.
You know, it's still a Nolan film at the end of the day.
Had a good time.
Yeah, I just have to wait for it to come out in Japan.
Whenever the fuck...
September.
Oh, okay.
I'll probably watch it again.
Oh, yeah, I'll probably go.
Just three hours of eating popcorn, so...
Fair enough.
Sounds fun.
Yeah.
Like a good time to me.
I watched a couple of movies recently, too.
I watched back rooms.
How was it?
Wait, is it out?
No, we found it on Amazon video
Yeah, yeah, you can rent it out
That, I watch that and also Obsession
Both wrong I watched obsession as well
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, because I watched Obsession too
Yeah, but I haven't watched Backrooms
And you even watch Backrooms, and you haven't watched Backrooms
I haven't watched Backrooms. I was like, I wonder if we should do an episode at some point
We do Backrooms, Obsession and I Am Long
Did you want to do that?
We should do that, I think.
I don't know, it's fresh in my mind now
You want to talk about Obsession right now?
Fuck it.
I mean, what would be the theme?
of the episode.
YouTube horror, indie horror?
They are all
YouTubers who made horror films that it became successful.
I guess so.
I forgot about that.
I mean...
Anime Club.
Oh, do you want to save it for an anime club?
We could do for anime club.
I mean, now the patrons are going to be like,
meh.
The live viewers, sorry, the comments
can be like, talk about it now.
Yeah.
Look, I mean, obsession was very good,
but I think we could go more in depth
another time.
Okay, okay, okay.
Sorry, comedives, we will do this.
I promise.
They need to watch backrooms
I've watched Ironlong
And I've watched
Have you watched Ironloon?
No
Okay so you need to watch that one
Yes
You need to watch back rooms
Yeah I need to watch back
I was gonna wait for it to come out in cinemas
I don't think it's coming out in Japan
Yeah I don't know it's coming on September
Oh is actually?
Oh
Oh
Honthoni
But yeah
Is it about obsession
Is obsession coming out in Japan
It's already out
I saw obsessions is out right now
September 4th there you go
Yeah
What?
Okay
Yep
Okay
Patrons
Viewers
Please wait
We will
Wait until September
I apologize
We will talk about it
Because I have a lot of thoughts
On both the movies
I've watched Iron Long and Backricks
Yeah
And I haven't talked about them on stream or anything
So I'm saving it
Okay okay
Okay
Well you know obsession is out in cinema
Right now in Japan
And you watch obsession too
I've watched this session
I mean I loved it
I'll say that much
Yeah I thought it was very good
I think Backrooms was better though
Really?
Yeah
I thought obsession was really fucking good
Obsession was really good
But I was that good
Personally for me
I thought
I thought backrooms was more of an interesting film.
Okay.
I thought mixed things about backrooms.
Did you know Kaye Parsons is trying?
I'm excited though.
I was, yeah, I didn't know it was coming out in Japan.
I just assumed it wasn't because 824 films.
Well, A24 films rarely ever come out in Japan.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Also, not to mention that like, I was like, I do, Jap, is like, the back room, did the back rooms as...
Yeah, did the, sorry, the bakrums, like, did the bakudums are like, mean?
Or like, you know, internet phenomenon.
ever make it to Japan.
Yeah, I think it went everywhere.
Did it?
I think so.
I don't know.
I've never heard of a Japanese person being like,
A bakkudu's, sisteered.
So, yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, okay.
No, I assume it did.
I don't know.
I assumed it did.
Yeah, I don't know.
But I mean, both, all I'll say for now,
but we won't get into it, obviously we'll save it,
but all I'll say for now is that I enjoyed both films very much.
Okay.
I watched X-A-8.
That was good.
Oh, yeah?
Today was also really good.
Yeah.
That was a really clever film, I thought.
Yeah.
I agree.
I was like, wasn't that scary.
There's, no.
I'm,
I'm starting, like, a lot of these horror films I'm watching now since Sydney's
taking me to watch laws.
I'm like, this is a really cool concept.
It wasn't scary, but cool concepts.
Yeah, back room's an obsession either.
Like, I thought, because people were like, oh, obsession is like the scariest film ever.
And I'm like, not really.
No.
Yeah.
I had a friend that was like, yeah, there were people screaming in the theater.
I'm like, shut the fuck up.
Shut up.
I'm screaming to the damn theater.
I thought I was a pussy.
But yeah, we'll save that for a future episode,
then once we've watched all of their YouTuber horror films.
Yeah, there's like drama with like reviewers,
like, I guess guys who are outing themselves, an obsession
because they were like, the guy did nothing wrong.
An obsession.
Oh, really?
Yeah, there was like some YouTubers that were like in the review.
They were like, you know, it's a really unlucky guy.
Right.
You know, I feel, you know, and it's like,
I loved all the letters,
because I have a letterboxed account
And my favorite thing with Letterbox is seeing all the reviews.
And some of the reviews for InSession was so fucking funny.
Like the top review was just like, this was just dating a Latino woman.
And I asked Alex out content producing.
It was like, true.
That is pretty true.
That's intense, bro.
Yeah, it's intense.
But yeah, we'll save that.
Another film, though, I watched in, because I was back in Australia last week for my box,
that my mom recommended.
was this movie called God's Crooked Lines.
Okay.
And it's directed by,
it's a Spanish film,
directed by the Spanish director
who apparently is quite infamous
or like well known.
I'd never heard of this guy before,
or this movie.
The only way I can describe this movie is,
okay, we've all watched Shutter Island, right?
Yep.
Yeah, yeah.
And we all know about like the big plot twist
that like completely...
I honestly forgot it.
of Shutter Island.
Oh yeah, the detective.
Yeah, yeah, with Leah DeCabria.
He was a patient the entire time kind of thing.
Okay, now imagine that big twist in Shutter Island,
but if it happened about six times, all throughout the movie.
Like this film, yeah, Ariel Powell,
this guy has made a lot of really interesting films.
And this one is interesting because it's kind of similar to Shutter Island
in the sense where it's like a woman, uh, detective,
goes undercover inside an insane asylum
and tries to figure out
the mysteries of this murder
that supposedly is getting covered up
by the insane asylum.
But I swear to God,
there was like five or six different plot twists
within this movie that completely shifts
the way you view the characters
and the way you view the movie.
And they did this really cool thing.
I won't give too much away
because I want you guys to actually watch it.
This was a really good movie in my opinion.
They did this really interesting.
thing with foreshadowing and flashbacks.
Like there's this, there's like, the movies kind of split up into like modern days and then
also like flashbacks.
But the way they show these flashbacks and the way that it all pans out at the end is I've
never seen them use flashbacks in this way in a film.
Oh, cool.
And it was just really, and like the last line that a character says in the movie completely
changes the way you see the entire movie.
And it was just a really cleverly written psychological thriller.
It's kind of like, you know, in 13 Sentinels?
Yeah, I was gonna say,
the way you described it, I was just like,
sounds like 13 Sentinels.
You know in 13 Sansils, when that one character says,
that one thing that just completely changes
the way you see the entire story.
And then- Are we the bad guys?
He's behind me, so he's got.
But yeah, really good movie.
If you liked Shutter Island or like any,
like, psychological thriller, this movie, I think,
is fucking amazing.
Okay.
So, yeah.
Like, on the last,
of like twists and mystery and turns.
I don't know why.
I watched the show called Silo.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I know the name.
I've watched the first two seasons.
You watched the first two seasons?
I've watched the first two seasons.
I had a lot of free time, Garn.
Same here on my flight to like LA and in LA.
I guess I've heard of this series.
Okay, so let me explain.
Gone?
Take it away.
No, just going to basically the, you open up
and there's a mystery that, for
some reason humans have to live in these silos. And every now and then, someone has to be sent out
to clean the camera that allows them to see outside of the silo. And it's a wasteland outside.
It's a wasteland. Problem is, every time someone goes to clean it, they die. Shortly after
they finish cleaning it. Freddie Fasbears, huh? And, and, you know, there's a mystery because
one, we don't know why we're in the silo. But two, everyone, sometimes people, you know, because
people don't volunteer to get to clean
they have to go and clean
they're always like, I'm not going to fucking clean the camera
fuck you. And then when they get out there, they clean the camera
because there's some kind of weird reason
that forces them to clean it. We don't know why
and they die shortly after.
And that's pretty much the mystery.
And then as it kind of unravels,
you know, it seems like there's some
people in the silo who are in the government
of the silo that know a bit more than others
and we know that there's other silos
and stuff like that. So it's kind of like trying to
unravel all this mystery. But
it takes a really long time for anything to happen in the show.
Yeah, so I'll explain like the hook at the end of episode one.
Okay.
So this is the hook, right?
Where we follow this,
we follow a cop, right?
Who is kind of like seeing a lot of these conspiracies going on.
Like there is a higher form of governments that is maybe trying to keep some secrets away from the people.
There was this revolution that happened in the silo about,
like a hundred years ago.
And all knowledge from before this revolution is like outlaws, right?
And so you're getting like bits and pieces of what the world was like before this revolution.
But if you get caught, you basically go to jail.
Like an artifact or something.
Like artifacts from like way beyond, like way before.
Like a computer.
Yeah.
Because it has technological.
Right.
Yeah.
Like analog things really.
Right.
Right.
So his wife goes out to clean.
He doesn't know why.
And you can never get sent out to clean.
You always have to volunteer to clean yourself to go outside the silo.
Oh, yeah.
And so the big, like, hook at the end of episode one is the main character goes out.
And he wants to know why his wife cleaned, why his wife went out in the first place.
And he sees that the wasteland that they see on the computer screens in the silo is actually fake.
the whole world has already healed.
So he goes to clean the camera
in order to try and show people,
hey, it is safe to go outside.
Right, right.
But then he instantly dies,
almost instantly dies right outside the camera.
Oh.
So...
That's kind of cool.
So that's the hook.
Yeah, that's cool.
That's it's...
I watched episode one and I was like,
okay, this is cool.
We got a mystery,
like, dystopian, sci-fi,
conspiracy show.
It's like, I'd say it's very,
fallout like, but less goofy?
I'd say it reminds me of lost.
Yeah, it's like lost fallout.
Yeah, I'm watched fallout, so it could be like fallout.
It's just like the games, like the whole, you know, kind of...
Dysopian.
Yeah.
Yeah, like post-apocalyptic.
Yeah, it's definitely like the post-apocalyptic.
You haven't watched season two, right?
I have.
Oh, you have?
Have you watched season three?
A little bit, yeah.
Okay, damn.
Because I've only watched season two.
Okay.
And season two, I was like, well, season one was kind of slow.
Yeah.
I hope season two's faster.
Oh boy.
It was even fucking slower.
No.
Excruciatingly slow.
Yeah.
And like it's fine.
I get it.
They want a characterization.
But it felt like they're trying to make a three-season show into a five-season show.
Right.
Yeah.
I will not lie.
I say I watch season two.
Dude,
I had a second monitor contact by the last.
I was in my hotel room.
Just having it on in the background.
And when something exciting happened for the plot, I would be like, oh, okay.
I'm locked in.
Yeah, yeah.
There's like.
Season two, I swear, was like 20 minutes of content or like developments for like this world and mystery.
In like 20 like the fucking 10, 10 hour episodes that it had.
It could have been like two hours.
Yeah.
It was eight or 10?
Yeah.
I think it's 10 episodes.
Fuck, it was so long.
Season three any better?
It's, it's, it's.
The first.
And the thing is like, it's good?
I think.
I don't know. I'm just like
bored. Right, right.
It's so slow.
So I'm like, I'll be right. I've watched a few episodes of season three
and I was like...
Look at this. Yeah. The average just go down.
It's like they do this. They literally save everything
until the last two episodes and nothing happens in the first eight.
It's so fucking annoying.
So I did something where I rarely do, but I was just like,
I can't be fucking ass anymore.
I load up the Wikipedia and just like spoil myself.
I couldn't stop, man.
Chris spoiled it for me as well.
Oh, did it?
Wait.
We were like having tacos one time.
And Chris was like, you know the ending, right?
And I was like, no, I don't think so.
He's like, well, it's.
And then just tells me what, what like, what the big twist was.
What the fuck?
And I was like, well, I kind of thought it was that anyway.
Yeah.
So it kind of helped.
But I was like, bro.
Yeah.
I was just like, I'm not going to sit through another like two seasons.
of this shit. I'm just gonna Wikipedia
because I need to know
what it is, what this mystery is.
Luckily, it's based on a book. So you can
just spoil yourself from the source material.
But yeah, unfortunately,
season two and season three, sometimes
you just watch a show and you just
get the feeling that this is just not respecting
your time. Like, yes, yes.
Like, I get that you... I might just read the book.
Yeah, yeah. Like, I get that you need
time for like characterization.
Yeah. Yeah.
But like, even I felt like some of the story
lines with these characters just wasn't grabbing me a lot. And I just like, it was just,
the plot was moving on like a snail's pace. Um, and I, you know, I read, I really do, I really do
this where I just go into a show blind, because I did go into the show blind. I was, I just,
I just decided to watch it on the plane and I was just like, shit, episode one has me hooked.
Let's hope this show doesn't waste my time. And I wasted my time. But I just needed to know what
happened.
Damn.
Which is a shame
because I've thought
this show had a lot
potential.
It does,
you know,
it has some very,
very interesting ideas,
but my God,
it went so fucking slowly.
Yeah,
I mean,
I've not felt the urge
to start season three.
Yeah.
I don't think I will
until all the episodes are out.
What made you want to watch it?
I think it was around the,
I started watching from season one weekly
just because I was like
looking for that kind of,
you know,
when the shows like,
of Thrones when they're fucking good.
And like, it feels fucking exciting
week by week to watch. I think I was looking for that.
Like that kind of epic show
with a mystery. Uh, I still haven't found it.
Yeah. And then I was like, well, it's okay.
I guess I'll watch it.
Yeah.
But I really kind of felt like I wasted my time.
Yeah. I rarely feel that way with the show,
but I really felt like the show wasted my time.
I, I really, like, after watching this,
I really had this urge to watch a show where
it's kind of like you unraveled
the world episode by episode.
Like, it's kind of like you have a small view of this world that there is some kind of
mystery there.
And then you kind of unravel it as the series goes on.
And I realize how rare it is to find a show that executes as well.
Yeah, I was hoping Severance would be that for me.
But then season two is kind of a letdown.
Yes.
I thought season one ended like really well.
I was like, this is really, really cool.
Season two, I don't think it was bad.
I just think it was a little bit.
You know the issue when mystery shows, instead of solving some mysteries, just keep introducing more mysteries?
You're like, bro.
Because then I know what's going to happen.
In season four, you're going to tie up like three things in one go.
I'll be like, okay, I forgot about three of those things.
I don't.
It's like, dude, solve some of the shit that's going on first so I can feel like I'm, I can make sense of something.
Yeah.
I don't remember this shit from two seasons ago.
Currently, I just don't like, they just kept adding things.
I was like, I feel more confused in not in a fun-intricked way.
Yeah.
Just in a more like, you know, I think One Piece, to its credit,
is kind of the expert of, like, tying up, like, parts of the story
while introducing or leaving hints to other mysteries.
You know, because they succinctly wrap up an arc whilst leaving some things that you're
like, wait, what about that guy we didn't see, you know?
Well, do you know, one series I think that does this expertly,
that isn't even a mystery show?
What?
It's Attack on Titan.
Oh, yeah, Taken Titan.
Yeah, they did do it really well.
Like, holy shit, when you slowly build up this mystery
and you kind of forget about it.
They keep jingling the keys.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then you're like, this is never gonna pay off.
This is never gonna be as satisfying
as what I think it is.
And then it actually like followed through and paid off.
And you're like, holy shit, this is so cool.
Because you don't have to, you don't have to address one mystery.
You just need to give me some payoff for something.
Yeah. And in Severance season two,
I felt like we got nothing.
And it was like, sure there were some moments that were cool,
but it's like, I get it.
The mystery is really big.
But at some point, you gotta get,
you gotta make me feel something.
Yeah.
You can't just keep introducing more fucking mysteries
because now I'm forgetting shit.
It's like re-zero.
I like,
the reason why I haven't fucking kept on watching it
is like,
I don't want to watch a one hour explain a video
because I forgot everything.
Yeah.
There's so much shit.
That's definitely a bean show.
Truthfully, I can't start the new season
until I've watched like the catch-up thing
and I don't really want to watch the catch-up thing.
Right.
Which is why I haven't done it.
Okay.
Because I've forgotten everything.
And season two was weird.
Um,
There's a lot of mystery shit that I forgot.
There, I mean, season two, I think, mainly focused on Subaru's character.
Yeah, yeah.
I actually rewatch season two in preparation for the new seasons.
Oh, okay.
And it did help a lot, but I know you don't, you don't got time for that.
You don't go time for that.
I do want to catch up with it, but I'm in the same camp as Connor where it's like, I watch season.
Yeah, I only watched up to season two.
I haven't started season three.
Yeah.
And I just feel like at this point it's been so long that I just need to start the show from the beginning year.
I'm going to do that.
Fuck that.
Yeah.
Well, at least like to the point.
where I remember. Actually, you know what? I'll probably just rewatch season two, because I remember
most of what happens in season one. Unless I'm like missing out of like important elements
to the shop later. But I just, I was just hentai with like a blue maid and I was like, I've kind of
watch it, re-zero. We have REM and home. Basically caught off. It's like same thing.
I don't remember the foot job scene, but I guess this is, yeah, I guess I'm onto this.
Are you, uh, are you watching the new, uh, ghost in the shell, Joey? Uh, I've only seen the first
episode. Okay. Yeah. I, I, uh, first episode was great. It's great. I mean, it goes out
a breakneck speed. Yeah. But it's definitely a different ghost in the shell than what I have
ever seen before, but I know it's based on the original manga. You've never read the manga,
have you? I haven't read the manga. Yeah. I, uh, yeah, I mean, it's kind of interesting because
they made Motoko in this new anime even more goofier than in the manga. And she was already kind of
pretty goofy in the original manga. Oh, she is so expressive. And I love it. I honestly feel like
this modern new, like more expressive ghost in the show might be better for the modern day,
even though it's like the manga is even older than all the films and stuff like that.
And the Yoshiyamamu, like, you know, Motoko and, you know, the badass, you know,
um, general was like, you know, that's cool. It's like dope as fuck. But like, yeah, I kind of
agree where it's like the, seeing the more goofier side and seeing the actual personality.
Fuck me. She horny as far. Horty A.F. Holy shit. Yeah. Like episode two starts and she's just
full on in an orgy.
She's just in an orgy scene with two other girls.
And I'm like, what?
This is not the...
Excuse me, I got to say.
Pause.
Yeah.
Moving frame at a time.
Let me take this all in.
It's, yeah, it was super surprising, but I think
Science Sari are doing such an amazing job
at bringing like a new ghost in the shell
that we haven't seen before.
Science Sari always do a great job, though,
breathing life.
Yeah, they're very rarely mere, so I feel.
Yeah.
Oh, Joe, one show that you gotta watch.
And it's still airing, so it might fall off, but I swear.
It's not an anime, technically.
It's a Donghua called False Memory.
Okay.
Load up the opening.
I've never heard of it.
But I have never seen something.
I've never seen a show that has felt like a spiritual successor to fool.
to Fully Cooly as much as this.
Oh, damn, would.
And this is, like, better than the sequels of Fully Cooley.
Yeah, yeah.
Right? Well, we don't talk about those.
Yeah, we don't talk about them.
But, like, this is a little bit of, like, Fully Cooley,
a little bit of trigger and dead leaves put into one.
Okay.
I mean, I like all those.
And the atmosphere and the vibes have just been...
It is very trigger.
I can say that, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's got some of the most incredible animation that is, like, on display the season, in my, in my opinion.
Okay.
And it's got like a, it's got like an indie rock soundtrack as well.
Hell yeah.
So it's, it very, very much fits that kind of like weird theme of like foodie-cooly.
The plot hasn't unraveled itself so much.
It's a little bit confusing.
But I think from the first few episodes,
you're probably not going to make sense of it just yet,
but I feel like it's something that's going to like come together
by the end of it.
Right, right.
Okay, yeah, I'll definitely check it out.
It's honestly been one of my favorite shows this season so far.
Okay.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
Yeah.
I think you'd really enjoy that.
All right, I'm down.
I'm down.
Definitely check it out.
How was your, how was your bachelor party, by the way, Joe?
Yeah, good.
I just, I went to Australia,
hung out with, like, some of my childhood friends
that I've known since I was like,
in kindergarten and shit.
And we just rented out an Airbnb
in the central coast, like, along this
beautiful lakeside.
And we just hung out for a couple of days.
It was sick. Like, because, you know,
I always had that, because, like, our wedding
doesn't have any grooms, best man
or, like, groomsmen or anything. So,
I'd realize that, I didn't know
that the best man is usually supposed to
plan the box, right?
I told you ever that, actually.
Yeah, I didn't know that.
Yeah, but also,
I keep saying box.
I was like, the fuck you're talking about box.
Yeah, I didn't know this.
We only say that in Australia.
Yeah, we say stag in the UK.
Yeah, obviously in America, a bachelor.
Bachelor party.
Bachelor party.
Yeah, okay, so, so stat, okay,
I'll just say Bachelor party then.
Yeah, so I didn't know that like,
best man was supposed to organize the Bachelor party,
but I don't have a best man at my wedding.
So I was like, fuck, what should I do?
Is there, I mean, if I'm allowed to ask,
is there a reason why you were like,
nah, fuck best man.
You were just like, you didn't want the politics of it all?
Yeah, basically.
Like both Raki and I were like, we're not going to have any best man or groomsmaid, a bridesmaids.
Because we were just like, Connor gone.
No, because we were just like, because we've both been to weddings where like the wedding politics have just been like fucking.
Yeah, but I mean, like, when people do that, I'm always like, bro, this is why you shouldn't be in either of these positions, any position.
If you get a defensive about it.
Yeah.
It's not your day.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah.
I guess so annoyed if people get upset about it.
Yeah.
And we've seen that happen at like Friends wedding.
So we're just like, nah, fuck that.
Yeah.
Everyone is equal.
We're looking at all this horizontally.
So that's why, yeah.
So I had to be like,
uh, fuck, what do I do for a box?
And then Gant was like, well, usually the best man does.
And I'm like, I don't have that.
Like, I guess I have to organize it.
But it also seems a bit weird to be like,
hey, friends, I want to do something.
Come and hang out.
You know, I felt a little bit weird about it.
But my friends from Australia organized just like a chill thing
because I was like, that's nice.
I didn't know what to do.
It's like, what do you do?
I mean, I went to hungry, right?
Yeah, no, I mean, I told Joey,
I was like, the amazing thing about a bachelor party
is that you can do whatever the fuck you want.
Right.
But like, with a caveat to be like,
this is your one opportunity
to make an event your vibe.
Right.
And if your vibe is just chilling out and do nothing,
that can be the bachelor party.
Because there's this,
I feel like there's this wrong image
where people are like,
oh, you got,
you gotta go to Vegas,
or you got to party hard
or do,
do all this.
Get strippers.
Yeah,
strippers, all this stuff.
And I was like,
no, the bachelor party
should just be like,
the one opportunity
for the groom to be like,
hey,
I want to do this,
and this is my vibe,
and this is my perfect weekend.
Yeah.
And we're doing that.
Maybe your perfect weekend
is going out clubbing and passing.
Maybe your perfect weekend
is having a marathon
of like horror film,
or something like that.
It's your opportunity to be like,
I just want to do this
and hang out with the people
with my mates, basically.
I mean, so that's basically what I did.
We just, like, played games
at this Airbnb, just hung out,
chilled by the lakeside.
It was really beautiful up there.
And, yeah, just did absolutely fucking nothing.
But you know what?
Yeah.
I needed it.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, I just did that.
And then came back here.
And I just came back from Fuel Fest,
which is like the biggest car convention
in, I think,
the world now, hosted by,
hosted by,
oh, fuck, what's his name?
Cody Walker, who was like Paul Walker from,
you know, the actor who died from Fast and Furious,
his brother organized it.
And yeah, it was really cool.
Just like, Archie was a flag girl, so she got to, like,
do the whole zero to 200 thing.
Really cool, just watching a bunch of, like,
Lampos and Ferraris and, like, GTXs just race each other.
Oh, wow.
You would have loved it because randomly, out of nowhere,
Like, there was like, you know, fucking GTRs and like, you know, um, you know,
eventadors and shit like that, like really cool like sports cars.
And then out of nowhere, dude rocks up with an F3.
Oh, wow.
Just, just in a zero to 200 race.
It was a, he just like, there was a huge line because we were on the Fuji Raceway.
And there's just this huge line of about 200 cars just like rocking up to do this like zero to 200 race,
which is basically just like a straight race of 200 meters to see who can win.
Um, yeah, dude rocks up with an F3 car and we're like, wow, where the fuck do you get that from?
He's going up against a Mazda. There's no way this thing's leaves.
I'm guessing he probably won everything the F3. It's probably like...
I mean, he only got to do one race.
Oh, oh, I see.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Each car, they're like volunteers that like bring their own cars and shit.
I don't imagine the F3 would win.
Oh, the F3 decimated the Mazda.
It's like the whole...
Oh yeah, there it is. That's the Mast three.
Yeah, that's the F3.
Yeah, no shit that's gonna win.
Yeah.
It won by a fucking Lantzda.
It won by a fucking LAM.
slide and this thing was so loud as well. There was also a dude there. There was two dudes there
with military grade tanks. Also just rocked up out of nowhere. You let have a tank in Japan?
Apparently so. I guess if it doesn't shoot. In the UK, you're allowed to have a tank as long as it
doesn't shoot. Yeah, there wasn't like an artillery thing or anything. It was just like, it was literally
just a military tank without the like the cannon. I think you can have the cannon on it in the
UK. You can't. You feel like block the firing mechanism. Ah, I mean, yeah, I guess that makes
sense. So I just sort of like you too busy to do it. Yeah. Yeah.
And then there was a dude, or there was a group of dudes who we saw at the last event that we went to a Fuji Raceway where I guess they're like a community that imports old American police cars.
Oh, sick.
So, oh yeah, there you go, Nabi.
I went with Nabi.
Yeah, there's the tank.
Yeah.
It was just through the car park.
He was just like, yep, here I am with my tank.
It's Fuji you said Speedway?
Fuji Raceway, yeah.
I just they're right next to the big Japanese military base.
Yeah, but these guys weren't military.
Maybe they're ex-military or something?
Maybe, I don't know.
Nabi, do you have the footage of the police cars?
Yeah, can you show it?
Dude, there is some people that drive around
and they have these old ass, like,
sick fucking American cars.
Dude, so many cool cars.
Such fucking energy and aura.
There was a dude there with this fucking sick,
like Matt Black-painted Dodge Challenger
that just rocked up with like one million aura.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, my God.
These are all old American cars.
cop cars with the sirens on them and they did this whole, at the end, at the beginning of this
zero to 200 race, they kind of mocked like a, like a police car chase. Oh, that's fun. So there was
like a bunch of like Aventador's and like Mazda's just like racing off and then all
of these cops with their sirens on just like followed after them. Very, very cool. Damn.
Yeah, really sick. Made me want to get my license.
Did you should? I just don't have left. I just got my gold. Oh, nice, dude. My gold license
in Japan. Hell yeah. Nice.
You're gone?
What about you?
I would love the gold license.
Damn.
I'm in the same position as Joey now, man.
I'm never driving again.
Dude, oh my god.
Did you talk about that on the pot at any point?
Yeah, I think we mentioned it.
Oh my God, I probably forgot to redo it.
Yeah, so funny.
That is the most gone shit of all time.
To be fair, I've like, how was it being?
You'd like never drive.
I know, like, I have, in my entire life, never owned a car.
Like, I've only used my...
This is the first time I've ever owned a car.
Yeah.
I've only used my parents' car.
Same.
And I've just never felt the urge to drive.
You know?
I don't enjoy driving.
You know, I really don't enjoy driving.
I'm indifferent to it, I think.
It's like, it depends.
It's like, if it's like a fucking 15 minute car ride,
then it's like, yeah, whatever, that's fine.
If it's like three hours, then I'm just like, just end me now.
Yeah.
I love driving.
It's so fun.
It's like, I will do anything I can to, like, not be the designated driver.
Like, I will only do it if it's like last resort.
Yeah, yeah.
If it's last resort, I'm just like,
I'm like, okay, no one else can drive.
I guess I'll do it, you know.
Yeah, yeah.
But I despise driving.
That's fair.
Yeah, I don't know why.
I just don't really like the feeling.
I don't really like the feeling of...
Is because you don't think you're a confident driver?
I just like to relax when I travel.
To me, driving is...
But some people find a relaxing in the drive.
Yeah, I find it quite relaxing.
See, to me, maybe it's my ADHD.
I feel like I've got to be like constantly, like, switched on.
when I'm driving.
Well,
you would fucking hope so.
Yeah.
You are in a motor vehicle.
I think like the,
like doing roads or areas
that I've never drove on before
are like,
yeah,
you have to focus a lot more.
Obviously,
I'm not saying I don't focus as much
on the roads,
but I know where the dangers
are going to be.
Yeah.
And I know the parts
that might be like the corners
that are tight
or I know,
okay, this road,
I know there's always like
a couple of cyclists coming.
Like,
it does get a little bit like
more relaxing.
Yeah.
I think it's just fucking blast some music.
Like,
That is true. That's the driver privilege.
Being able to like play music through a speaker just hits so different than like in headphones.
True.
And like you can just fucking play a fucking music, rock up to a place and you're like like air conditioning and a fucking private vehicle.
I like my headphone music though.
I do like headphone music.
Don't be wrong.
But like yeah.
There's just something about something about playing some good fucking.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
You're like fucking let's fucking go.
Something good about just playing some like road trip music while you're on a road trip through the car speakers is.
Yeah, I like doing that in the passenger seat.
You know, just be like, yeah.
Yeah, but you being the passenger, you don't get to choose the music.
That's the driver's proof.
Yeah, but a lot of drivers, they don't care.
No, when someone's a guest, I prefer them to DJ.
Oh, really?
Well, yeah, because it's like, I'm not trying to, I can't navigate the vibes and the road.
I need someone else to navigate the lives.
That's fair.
I can contribute, but I need to drive.
I always feel bad as the passenger if I like start controlling the music.
I'm like, no, no, no, you're the one driving, so you're the one that should send what you've moved you want.
I also don't like, when someone else is driving, I hate it when they're
like messing with their phone.
Right.
And if it's a bad song,
you know,
someone's got to change.
Yeah.
You know.
Exactly.
That's fair.
It's the designated vibe maker.
Yeah.
The designated driver
and the designated vibe maker.
Right.
And,
yeah,
the few times I drive,
I let someone else take the auxiliary as well.
And when I'm driving,
I'm like,
fuck, give me that.
I'm picking the song.
I got so tilted into,
because I hadn't like
bothered,
because,
you know,
in Japan,
we've been living for a long time.
I feel very comfortable talking,
but I just gave up on learning kanji
because I was like,
I don't go time.
But when I went to the DMV,
it was so fucking confusing
because they added my number stuff now,
which is kind of like the digital ID in Japan.
And now, it used to be very simple.
You could just go through the track to renew it.
You know, like number one,
good number two.
Yeah.
Now because of the my number stuff,
you can get the MyManku Shole.
So now you can get like a digital driving license.
So everything is split into different sections.
Right.
super confusing and I couldn't read the signs.
And I was like, fuck this, bro.
So I started doing learning country again.
Oh shit.
I was just doing Juanicani.
It's pretty fun there.
Actually been really fun.
How's it gone?
It's fun.
What's a new favorite kanji?
I love the when they have the repeater, the noma,
the when they repeat stuff.
Oh, yeah.
It's just really fun.
I don't know, it's just really fun seeing it like,
when you're like-
Super easy or write too.
It is very easy.
I don't know.
It's just been fun learning it
because when I previously learned it,
I realized I didn't enjoy
it because I was learning it in a really bad way where I was just trying to learn the
you're trying to like road learn it well because there's like there's so many different
there's canjies have multiple meanings and I found that when I was just learning the like
obviously there's the kunyomi on yomi like the I forgot which one is which again I just know that
there's like two readings reach kanji yeah and I didn't realize I just got frustrated why there was
two reading things I was so annoying I learned too but the the not just give like an ad for them
But the Wanda County system was really fun because you kind of like learn it.
You learn both readings.
And it kind of teaches you like, hey, if there's going to be Hiraana, it's going to be one of this reading.
And if it's a kanji with a kanji, it's probably going to be the true yomi.
Yeah, on yomi is when there's two kanji.
If there's a kanji before or after it, then it's most likely they're not on yomi.
Some exceptions.
Yeah, right.
The exceptions are annoying.
But it's been really fun because then they, you learn like the building blocks.
It's fun to be like, I think I can read this kanji without having to see how it's read.
And then you guess and you're like, fuck it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Japanese people get. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. But I never learned it like that because I thought, oh, I just have to learn all the readings or. And so it's been really fun kind of doing it all over again. Yeah. That's the biggest misconception that people have about Japanese is that they think all Japanese people can just read kanji by default. It's like, no, it's, if anything, most Japanese people can't read a lot of kanji and they're just taking educated guesses. Yeah, yeah, because like I, you know, for an example, in, you know, Japanese, they have like a symbol for water. It's like Mizu. And like pretty much in daily life,
you'd only ever say like Mizu,
for the most part,
at least in like...
Except when you say Wednesday.
Yeah, so you'll be...
But, like, I found like,
oh, yeah, it's just so dumb that I wanted...
I was like trying to go through my life
just reading it one way.
Like, you know, then you read a word like,
like I can say, learn like Suu,
which is like underwater.
Yeah, yeah.
And I'm like, oh, I can read this.
It's not Mizunaka.
No, it's not...
Which is what I would have, like,
read it as, right?
Yeah.
And so I was like, damn.
But I'm glad that frustrating experience
kicked me in the ass.
be like, I'm just going to try and fucking learn it.
Yeah.
And like, look, I might give up at some point or I might get too busy again.
But at least for now, it's been really fun kind of doing it again.
But do it for a couple of weeks now.
It's been really fun kind of doing it every day.
Yeah, I feel like it's very much like, you know, trying to solve a puzzle, you know,
where it's like at first you're just very confused and very frustrated because you've been
given this puzzle that you're just like, it's like someone just plop the puzzle in front
of you and it's like, all right, solve it.
And it's like no direction whatsoever.
You just kind of have to figure it out.
But of course, if you go into it with no direction, you're just going to get frustrated.
And you're like, fuck this.
I don't want to do this.
But then once you actually know the first couple of steps of solving the puzzle,
then it becomes really fun.
Because then you're like, oh, okay, that opens my door towards that and that.
And so the progression just naturally gets faster.
Yeah.
It's been fun.
It's always that first step that's just like, what the fuck is on yomi?
Yeah, I know.
And I still get confused, but I know that there's the Onomi, Uncunyomi, whatever, I know.
But I think some people always ask because they're like, well, how can you live in Japan and not know how to read?
And it's like, you'd be surprised the amount of situations that I could just be like,
Hey, can you just explain?
Because I've felt very confident in my speaking.
That's been great.
And I've definitely relied on that crotch of like when I'm confused.
I'm like, hey, I can't read this.
Can you explain it to me?
And I'm like, oh, okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I think I had a similar kind of like experience and that this comes out of me being able to like be able to speak to I but not read it.
I never done how to read tie as well.
So I think my brain was just like programmed to be like, okay, if you can speak a language, you can survive, you know.
Yeah, yeah.
And I think I definitely, when I started, you know, you definitely start prioritizing speaking.
And you can live here and, you know, get around speaking because same thing.
Dude, whenever I go to the government office, I just be like, hey, I'm trying to do this.
Where do I go?
And I'd be like, hey, I don't understand this form.
Can you help explain?
And, like, I understand that is a burden.
And, like, the people are being very patient with me.
But I think it's better than me not knowing anything and trying to pull out of Google
translate and be like, yeah.
Yeah, totally.
You know, so like, I never had any problems talking, which has been great.
Like that's been awesome and I'm really happy that I managed to be like good in that.
But I was like, man, I got to learn how to read.
Yeah, yeah.
At least a little bit.
Like at least like a high school level.
Yeah, you don't have to be a nerd about it like me, but you know.
Yeah, you're a nerd.
I have a nerd.
I have, but the reason why I've always loved it is because, you know, to go back to that
puzzle analogy, right?
It's just like, I've always found it just so fascinating when you learn that new way to read
it all, like you learn an exception for something.
And you're like, oh, I've, I always thought it was read like this, but it's actually
read like this. And then, you know, and then when, you know, when you start doing that guesswork
of, I don't know how to read this thing, but I know what it means. So I can take an educated
guess. And then nine times out of ten, you're correct in that assumption. It's very fun when you're
correct. It's very fun when you're correct. And it's, it's very rewarding as well, because it's like,
you know, it's even if you don't know how to read it, as long as you know what it means,
then you can take an educated guess of like what it's trying to say. And then from there,
that's your first step to solving that puzzle, right? That's fun.
It's really, really, really good.
It's really, very much like it.
It's just, is this your side quest of the month?
It's been my side quest, yeah.
I mean, I'm, look, who knows how long it'll last
because these things come and go,
but I'm gonna try my best to keep up doing it.
It's really fun though.
Is it your first, this is your first side quest
in your 30s?
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah, I guess, I forgot.
Welcome to the club.
You are truly unk now.
Yeah.
It's hard to manage life, man.
Because I'm also like, like,
I try to exercise like four times a week too.
Yeah.
And obviously that just takes, that's a lot of time too.
Yeah.
And I'm trying to stream and do all these things.
And it's like, I realize I got, because we were talking about stuff,
it's like, I haven't watched anything, like any TV or anything in a month.
Like, I watch YouTube videos while I'm doing other shit.
Yeah.
But I haven't, like, sat down and watched something.
I think in over a month or so.
That's crazy.
I'm the opposite.
I haven't watched YouTube in about a month.
I fucking love YouTube, though.
There's so much good shit.
Yeah, but I'm, I've like, like, for me now, it's just like, oh, I need a read,
or like, I want to watch an anime, or I need to read a manga,
or I want to go exercise or go out, you know.
What's the last good?
YouTube video you watched?
The recent Nile Red video was good.
Yeah, I was about to say it.
But now, the video is fire.
He turned air into alcohol.
I mostly watch news.
Like, that's most of my day will be like,
I'll watch news, like, well, I'm doing some other shit.
Yeah.
And then I'll kind of get ready, and then it's like,
I'll do my daily shit, whether there's meetings or stream all day.
Yeah.
I mean, I've, I woke up one day as well and just decided to start going to the gym.
Hey, let's go.
Yeah, I've been able to keep it up for like about two months now.
Nice, nice.
Hell yeah.
Which is.
That's good that you did it also while traveling, because a lot of people fumble when I travel.
Yeah, I was like, this time, I was like, I've made a conscious decision to be like, I'm traveling to America.
This is normally where I fumble.
I'm going to make sure that when I have the inevitable jet lag and wake up at 3, 4 a.m.
I'm not going to try and go back to sleep and fight it.
I'm just going to, I'm just going to go up and go to the gym.
And yeah, it's, it's, it's been very good.
I realize that I needed to tie some other habits to like my gym habits.
And for me, the days I wake up and I don't want to go.
But my crux is that I have to watch an episode of anime before going,
while doing cardio.
Yeah.
And that is actually like what has kept me consistent to be like, I pick a bang a show and I'd be like,
fuck, I really want to know what happens.
so I'm going to the gym.
Yeah.
Because I'm not allowed to watch
this specific show
outside of the gym.
Yeah.
Might sound stupid,
but that has got me through.
No, I mean,
that's what a lot of people do nowadays.
You've got to do that.
Yeah.
And also, like,
I think it's hard to form habits too.
You've got to be careful.
If you introduce too many things at once,
you know,
you got to be like,
all right, I'll just do the gym.
I'll worry about something else
in a couple of months
when I've already solidified this habit.
Yeah.
You've got to be realistic about it.
It's really hard.
Yeah.
So I think sometimes we get in these phases
where you're like,
I'm gonna fucking turn everything around.
Yeah.
I'm gonna do 10 new things.
Like, bro.
One at a time, bro.
Do one new thing.
Get that consistent.
Yeah.
Like,
like get that urge to go to the gym and then tackle something else.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Speaking of not watching things for a while.
I don't know why,
but I think I've just decided I'm going to try and watch every Marvel movie before
Doomsday comes out.
What?
Yeah, I don't know why.
That's self-harm.
Why?
It is self-harm.
Do you know what?
Do you know I realized?
So maybe as dumb as playing every Castlevania game.
I have one more last.
Except you get content out of this.
Do I?
Do I?
Yeah, you stream all of them.
You get streams out of them.
You can't stream all the mob.
It's like crickets in my chair, bro.
The 19th Castlevania, they're like, bro.
Yeah, play something else.
But they're so fucking good.
Well, yeah.
The DS ones are awesome.
DS ones are sick.
So the reason.
But yeah, why all of a sudden?
Yeah, why do you want to do this?
Because I'll watch three Marvel movies on the,
plane back from America.
And I might have realized that I made a mistake by watching some of the best
Marvel movies post.
What did you watch?
Okay.
So on the plane back, I don't know why.
But I was like, ah, doomsday is coming out.
Let's see, let's see what Marvel was done.
Sure.
So I watched Fantastic Four.
Okay.
I watched the newest one.
The newest one.
Yeah.
Yes.
I watched Thunderbolts.
and I watched Deadpool and Wolverine.
Okay.
And the day before, I also watched the new Captain America as well.
And that has almost broken me.
Was that the one with the Hulk?
Yeah, that was the one with the Hulk.
That movie was what actually made me swear to never go to watch that.
That movie was ass, man.
Holy shit.
I was so offended that I paid in the cinemas.
I'm so sorry.
I paid money to watch that.
I'm so sorry.
And that was honestly the thing that broke me.
Like, I have now refused to go to the cinema.
cinema to watch any Marvel thing.
Because I'm just like, that shit genuinely made me angry.
Yeah.
Seeing Harrison Ford being fucking puppeteered to act in a film that he clearly
didn't fucking want to do in a role that he didn't fucking care about in this cash
grab of a shit film, I hated every fucking section of it.
Did you know what's sad?
I still think he was the best part of that film.
He was, but it was still shit.
Every part of that movie was a fucking waste of time.
I phoned in Harrison Ford was like still like by far.
It was like weekend at Bernie's.
Yeah, yeah.
It was like watching a corpse act.
And he was still better than everyone else.
Yeah.
Damn.
Like that movie was dog shit and I was like, I watched it and I was like, maybe I shouldn't do this.
Maybe I've made a mistake.
But I've only got like five films left.
I feel like I can do it.
I don't know.
Oh, so you've seen most of them already.
Well, I've seen everything up to end game.
You watched every single Marvel movie.
Up to an end game?
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's also a lot afterwards.
There is a lot.
And a lot of shitty films afterwards.
I tried...
Like Black Widow and shit like that.
Yeah.
Black Widow wasn't great.
You watched Black Widow?
Yes.
What the fuck.
Okay.
Do you know what I realized?
Marvel films are just my solo leveling.
It's just...
It's your power fantasy slump.
It's just like some shit that I can put like on my screen,
pay half attention and be like, okay, I get it.
I understand.
You know, I mean, the sad thing is you don't have to pay attention.
to get the film.
Especially like the modern,
especially like the modern Marvel films.
And I watched three of like what a lot of fans say
is the best to come out of the modern day.
By Fantastic Four,
Thunderbolts and...
I heard Fantastic Four was actually not too bad.
Yeah, I think now that I've seen
the cream of the crop,
I'm missing Guardians three,
which apparently is the actual cream cream of the love.
That's pretty good.
I watched that in the cinemas.
Okay.
So now that I've seen,
like the cream of the crop, I can undoubtedly say that, hey, I mean, it's all right.
They're all right. They're just like fun fucking popcorn. Yeah, turn your brain off movies.
Turn your brain off movies. People are like glazing these films. Like they were like,
this is saving Marvel. This is like bringing in the new age of Marvel. Oh my God. And I'm like,
they're enjoyable. I actually, I actually outside of the Deadpool and Wolverine, I actually like did not
enjoy that. And I know it's a fucking
heart sake because Kufel loved that film.
What, Dead Paul Wolver? I thought it was a fun film
but... Did you watch it? I did. I watched it
in the cinemas.
And?
I mean, I enjoyed it.
Yeah. But like, I don't know, sometimes
that Ryan Reynolds be a bit too much Ryan Reynolds.
But it's a saving model? No.
No.
Like, I think, like Ryan Reynolds and
Hugh Jackman are fun on screen.
Yeah. And that is pretty much the
saving grace. What did you enjoy about the film?
It's just fun to watch those two actors
particularly. They are fun.
The rest of the story was not good.
To me, Deadbourne Wolverine is the film equivalent of Funko Pops.
Yeah, yeah.
I just, it was.
That's fair.
That's a great analogy.
That is nail on head.
I was watching the film, I was like, what is the story to this movie?
This isn't a fucking movie.
This is like, this is just, this is two bros hanging out.
This is, this is an extended fucking satire.
night life skit. I swear to God. I was just like, there is like basically zero plot to this
movie that the plot of the movie is, and then this happened, and then, and then that happened. And
then you have like so many cameos coming in where it's just like, holy shit, is this seeing
like this person on screen? And then there's another cameo. The one joke I did like was the,
the Captain America bit in Switch. I thought it was quite funny. See, the problem, I think,
I think my big problem with this film is that through YouTube shorts and stuff like that,
I knew every cameo.
I knew every cameo that was happening.
So I watched it with the intention of being like, okay, I know all the jangle, the jingle, the jingly bits that they toss at the audience to be like, oh, this is cool.
This person is in this film.
I already knew all that.
So I just wanted to enjoy the film outside of that.
Yeah, for the actual plot.
And there wasn't a lot.
I'm gonna be real.
There was not a lot.
It's like a Marvel fan.
Yeah.
The villain was super lame.
The villain was lame.
There was barely a villain.
There was barely a plot.
So basically it's like a Marvel fan can.
It is.
It is because even like seeing Wolverine and Deadpool on the same screen was cool, but I was like, this is not my Wolverine.
They literally like, I loved Logan.
Yeah.
And they pay respects.
They're like, Logan, that film happens.
And we're not trying to replace that.
Right.
But this is a.
a different Wolverine dealing with different problems.
And I'm like, I mean, it's not the same Wolverine.
He has like a tragic backstory.
And to be fair, Hugh Jackman acted the shit out of it.
He did an amazing job acting.
And then you find out the backstory and then you're like,
that's it.
That's the only thing I liked about it.
I just think Hugh Jackman's fun to watch.
He is fun to watch.
He's a fun actor.
I've never watched the movie where I felt like the actor
was doing a better job than the script was.
Because holy shit, Hugh Jackman, like he saw,
the character and then you find out the story and the back story of his character.
He was like, fucking out.
You did, you did.
It's not that serious, bro.
No.
And yeah, it was just, it was, it was just a nothing movie.
Yeah, so again, going back to how this conversation started, I still don't understand why you did all of that diatribe and then you're like, I should finish the rest of it.
Because I'm like, there's only like a few films left.
My- Yeah, but they're not as good, right?
They're not as good, but I'm like, you know when you have like...
You're gonna make a video about this or what?
No.
What a waste of your fucking time.
It's for the passion, bro.
It's for the curiosity.
You have self-lobomized for the love of the game.
Not everything needs to be content, Gawna.
If it's a lobotomization, it should be.
If I'm gonna, like, torture myself, it better be for fucking content.
You know what I do for me, Gahn?
What?
I go to the past.
I have a nice meal.
I don't watch all the Marvel movies.
Look, you know, you know when you have like,
you're at like that 80% completion
and you're like, just a little bit more of a push
and you get to 100% to it.
It's just a completion is, bro.
You know, that's just where I'm at
with the Marvel films.
I respect you, you know.
But I don't want to be you.
Yeah, I got better things to do.
I just, dude.
I'm not watching all the, I'm not watching all the series.
That's, that's one thing I was going to say.
Yeah, that's too much for me.
Because at least a film,
It's just like, okay, you just sit down.
It's one and done.
Yeah.
And I can safely say after watching, still watching,
getting through most of these new Marvel movie films,
I am still definitely not hyped for Doomsday.
I just, what are we doing, bro?
What are we doing with that film?
I don't know.
I don't know.
When people, when the, when the traitor came out,
everyone was like, oh, you high for Doomsday?
I'm like, nah.
I'm going to watch it, though.
If the last ever came back.
and he has to wipe off the people.
Yeah.
Wipe people who are excited for doomsday.
Well,
wipe them out.
That's how we're going to criteriaize it.
I'm like,
I think like if they're excited
for this wholeheartedly,
what are we doing?
Well,
I think my big issue...
I'm just angry because of the Hulk movie still.
I don't actually mean that.
I'm sorry.
I mean,
I mean, rightly so.
I'm just really angry about that
fucking Red Hulk.
I'm very angry as well.
The plot twist is Hulk but red.
I'm fucking annoyed.
Do you know what?
Anged me even more?
Sorry.
The fact that,
this big fucking plot twist was spoiled by every fucking promotional trailer.
Yeah. And if you miss the trailer, you go into the cinema and it's what is it? It's
Captain America getting punched by Red Hulk. It's just...
Sorry. I'm getting, I'm sidetracking you, so I'm annoyed. Carry on. Yeah. Um, I gotta realize
who the fuck is the main character of like, like, who are the characters we invested in in this
like New Age Marvel movie.
I think people just want to see Robert Danny Jr.
again. They do. Which is sad.
The reason like the first like the first phases or the first three phases were so good
was seeing the progress.
It felt like watching a TV series,
an extended TV series where you got to see the character regression of like Ironman
and Captain America and Thor throughout these films.
And watching like making my way through this new age,
I'm just like, there is zero attachment I have to like the characters.
I don't know who is leading this now.
It's just a group of characters
they're trying to like throw together.
And I don't know.
It's, I'm scared that Doomsday
is just going to be another Funko Pop movie.
Well, you know what's crazy is that it's going to definitely
break fucking records again.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, who I was talking?
I was talking on the couch.
You know, No Way Home, the new Spider-Rub movie.
Yeah.
I heard that's good.
I heard it's good.
Which is not.
it was just kind of separate from what I'm the point
I'm from make, but in its first opening weekend,
it made more than the Odyssey had done by that time.
Because like Odyssey had made 900 million
in like three weeks or a month.
Right.
Yeah.
Spider-Man made it in like four days.
That's crazy.
Marvel fans, bro.
Or Spider-Man fans, I guess.
It's just the power of like when you can market a movie to kids too.
Because I guess when it's R-R-R-R-R-R-A-R-S-E was,
you just forget how much,
because I don't listen to kids.
I don't care what kids think.
I mean, also...
So, like, when I think of, like, what was the, like...
The Odyssey kind of was a big, like, monoculture event
where, like, it was the only thing anyone spoke about
for a good week or two.
Yeah.
Even though I was trying to avoid it
because I didn't want to be spoiled.
Sure.
Yeah.
You know.
1.67 billion.
It's fucking crazy.
I mean, it is also Spider-Man.
Yeah, which I guess is, like,
it's crazy how, like, mass appeal will still beat out,
like, the conversation at times.
It's like how I won't understand how like the number one kids like toy channel it makes
it's like more popular than any YouTuber.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Obviously that's being hyperbolic, but you know what I mean?
Like how when something is marketed towards literally everyone, how it, even though
I might not hear about it that much.
Relatively, because again, my echo chamber in circles, but like, you know what I mean?
It's just kind of crazy.
I mean, everyone's in the own echo chamber.
Everyone's in the own circles.
But I heard about the Odyssey even though I was trying to avoid it.
Like non-star.
Yeah, but everyone knows Spider-Man.
Yeah, everyone knows.
People talk about it too much.
I've heard everyone say it's good.
I've heard people, well, not in our circles,
but I've heard a lot of people talking about it.
I'm just fucking old.
Me, I haven't heard about it.
Ad block doesn't go on Twitter.
Fucking doesn't watch an ad.
Has brave browser, skip everything.
I haven't heard about it.
Yeah.
I think you, I don't know.
I think you're just getting old.
Very, bro.
I know it's more great.
30 hit him hard.
Yeah.
Way more gray hairs.
Because I...
I like my hairs, Joe.
I'm just, I'm checking.
I think I saw some here.
I had a full gray hair the other day.
Fuck.
Yeah.
You're not supposed to pull them out,
apparently.
Why would I pull out?
I want to get the gray hairs.
I wanted to, yeah.
I want to go Silver Fox.
I do as well.
I want the lush silver fox hair.
Having gray hairs implies we still have hair.
Wisdom.
True that.
Wisdom.
So I'm gonna take that.
Also, I've lost count of how many gray hairs
that I've,
that I've gotten, so, you know, you used to have a way to go.
You've just hit 30.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know it's crazy?
My knee started hurting.
Like instantly.
Frame one.
It was crazy.
The next day it actually started hurting.
Yeah, it's true what they say.
People were not kidding.
Yeah.
The moment the 3-0 ticks over.
I didn't even do anything.
I didn't do anything.
And it hurt for like four days.
Yeah.
What is, uh, if you could pick a debuff.
Because everyone in their 30s has a debuff.
what would you hope it is
just such big balls
just weighing me down
well you've had that
no I don't know
debuff I don't I mean
I don't know what debuff is there
I mean knees is like the big one
knee my shoulder I don't know what I did
to my shoulder my rotator cuff it's been
hurting yeah I don't know why maybe I've been
overworking it yeah my debuff is my shoulder
blades have been like aching if I like sit or stand for too long
I don't know how it happens
I've seen the Cairo about it.
You've seen the,
on Cairo's a scam?
No.
Caros are a scam, Jerry.
Oh, that?
I think so.
It works for me.
I think it's like based on some weird pseudoscience.
I mean,
I've been to the Cairo a couple of times that's worked out.
I guess.
I'm not trying to hate.
Yeah.
I used to have like really like my,
my hip was like twisted for the longest time.
And I went to the car a couple of times
and they actually fixed it up.
I think there is like no scientific like evidence that it does anything.
Well, I mean, yeah.
But it's like, it's like, it's,
I mean, they did a better job than I ever could.
I think there's, like, been cases where they've done damage, but generally speaking,
if they're not harming you, it's like a massage in terms of like, a massage doesn't do anything.
Yeah.
It's temporary relief.
It's just like, do you feel like it works?
Then it works.
Yeah.
Well, it's a massage on your bones, basically.
So it hurts way fucking more than a massage.
I've never liked massages, though.
It's a preference thing.
I mean, you know.
You know what?
The older I've gotten, the more I've enjoyed it.
Nah, I still hate it.
I still can't get over the awkwardness of it.
Oh, goodness.
Just having a person who's rub me.
What kind of massages are you going?
Like that, you know?
And it's awkward.
No one's talking and I don't want to talk to them.
Well, yeah, I usually just fall asleep.
I can't fucking fall asleep.
I feel like a massage is just like a mass gaslight.
Everyone who's got out of, like, had a massage and be like,
oh, I feel so good.
I'm like, yeah, and everything fucking hurts now.
You haven't been to a good massage.
Ah, they say that every fucking time.
You haven't been to a good massage,
every fucking time.
A good massage changes your life.
I think I realized because I was doing these, like,
I was like, you know,
and I'd go on a vacation,
they'd be like, we have a massage.
I'm like, fuck it, I'll do it.
I do the full hour.
And they was just like way too much.
I realized I just fuck with the ones
and they give you like a 10 minute
fucking shoulder rub.
And I'm like, that's great.
That's all I needed.
I don't want this fucking arm pushing my fucking,
like, you know,
what's the bottom of your feet called?
Souls.
Souls.
You know, when they, like, rub your souls.
I'm like, fuck, what are you doing, bro?
I've never once felt like my souls were tense.
Like, I don't need this.
Just focus on the shoulders.
That's not what I'm here for.
Yeah, see, I was also, like, a dismayer of massages.
But then when I went to South Africa for the first time,
and for my birthday,
Aki and I,
Aki took me to this, like, South African, like, hot rock spa,
where they, like, heat up these rocks
and they, like, use that.
to massage you, brother.
You're laughing, but dude, if you experience that shit,
holy fuck.
That was the moment where I'm like, okay, you know what?
Massizes kind of goaded.
It was fucking dope.
And they made me a little cake after the massage too
for my birthday.
And I was like, yay!
Just imagine this guy from Madagascar.
He's like, from Johannesburg or some shit.
Yeah, it was in Johannesburg.
This is like South African woman.
And she was just like...
Joy, we have du rocks.
Yeah.
Is that your South African accent?
This is more like Nigeria.
Yeah.
You can't do use the rocks.
Yeah.
And we were, we are massager.
Yeah, and I was like, oh.
It's going to be fun.
Yeah, and I was like, oh, okay, word.
And then she did it for 45 minutes,
and I was like, this is the best I've ever felt.
It was, it was great.
Can I bring my own rock?
Yeah.
It's like, I found, what if I have a favorite.
I have a rock.
Yeah, I have a favorite rock.
I'd like you to use the rock.
He put this bitch in the microwave.
No, no.
I've, yeah, I've done like three or four now.
I've just kind of realizes, yeah, it's not for me, I think.
No, that's fair. That's fair.
And like, does it actually have health benefits?
No, it's, no, so I spoke, because I did this video where I, um, did like acupuncture,
cupping and all this shit in one video.
Capping.
Copping.
Yeah, where they, it's like suction cups on your skin.
There's probably some fucked up sexual thing.
Oh, there is, too.
Yeah.
But they, they, you know, they light like a fire under a cup.
Yeah.
Put it on your skin and use the heat to like, yeah.
suck your fucking skin up.
And it's gotten more popular recently again,
even though it was like an ancient thing.
And I really didn't feel comfortable
doing this without talking to like a
medical expert in the video
because I was like, I don't want to just like
do this video and put this shit out there
because that feels like kind of irresponsible.
And so he was a
cardiologist, YouTuber.
He's a really, really good YouTuber.
He's really smart.
I asked him, I was like, is there any kind of like
medical proof?
or any of this stuff.
He's like, well, you know,
when you go to a massage and you feel like it worked,
there's some benefit there.
And if you feel like it works,
then that's fine.
Because a lot of the time some patients,
you know, like acupuncture,
they feel like nothing works.
And they do acupuncture,
and they feel like it changed their life.
And that's fine.
And that's great if it did.
But the science says there's nothing.
Yeah.
There is nothing.
Yeah.
Like nothing physiologically happens different
outside of what's happening in your head.
Yeah.
And if for you that is the catalyst, then that's fine.
But you can't be like, this will work for everyone.
And it's like it used to be a, specifically acupuncture used to be a thing that they used to recommend in the UK.
The doctors would, like it was a treatment.
And they took it off a while back.
Because they were like, there's no, there's no science behind it working.
And it's all pseudoscience.
There's no, you know.
Yeah.
All it is is just like, it just releases like a little bit of serotonin.
And that's all it is.
Can I also put ice baths in that category as well?
No, ice baths actually do because they,
No, you're lying to me.
They contract your cardiovascular system,
which actually does improve circulation,
which is why I, you can Google it.
You're lying!
It's a big gas light.
You can't convince me.
Okay, okay, first of all, first of all,
let's get the straight.
Saying ice bath is going to like,
health lower short-term muscle soreness after intense sex.
Evidence for other health claims remain mixed, modest or unproven.
Yeah.
Exactly the same.
There's like, there's like some benefit to like, I guess, doing it.
But, uh, yeah, I don't know.
No, it's, uh.
Yeah, see, I look at that.
I look at a, I look at a cold plunge and I look at a South African woman with hot rocks
who's going to massage me.
I'm taking the latter.
I don't care if it has zero health benefits.
it feels good and it relaxes me and I feel like jelly afterwards, I'll take it.
Yeah.
You know?
It's, uh...
Yeah, and, you know, I don't claim that like, you know, massages or whatever, like,
health benefits or even chiro's.
It's like, it just makes me feel better, you know, so it works for me.
So, yeah.
It just, you know, as like, I agree.
As long as some people, I feel like the power of placebo,
oh, it's, like, massive.
Huge.
Yeah.
And that's like when I think, when you talk about this stuff, it's very frustrating because
people online, when you say, like, there's no science behind it.
They're like, well, it's worked for me in Georgia, you know?
And it's like, bro, I'm not trying to say what you experienced is not true.
Yeah.
Just saying that the science isn't there or is like not conclusive.
Yeah.
You know, and that's, it's a very important difference.
Well, saying that we should ban it.
Yeah.
Or you can't do it.
It's like, I think you need to be responsible in what you, you know, recommend to people.
Sure.
Yeah.
And be like, hey, I get it.
It might just be on my head.
I just fuck with it.
I like macsoshes are basically that for like literally everyone.
and we all understand this.
Nobody goes into a massage thinking,
wow, the health benefits are a massage.
Yeah.
Amazing.
Everyone's like,
it feels good.
Yeah.
And that's pretty much it.
My body hurts a little bit less than previously.
I think what's like,
what's like,
you know,
bad and what is very harmful is being like,
acupuncture will clear your cancer or something.
Yeah,
yeah,
I mean, like,
Steve Jobs is like,
carrots will fix my,
my cancer.
It's like,
well,
well,
we know what happened with that.
Steve,
you could also,
You could also go to the hospital and do the chemo.
Yeah.
But, you know, there's, you know,
and then other people feel like, well, it's, you know, not natural.
And it's like, well, yeah, look, science is there for a reason.
And you can be skeptical of it.
But I think you have to have to be...
Yeah, as long as you're not pushing it down to anyone's throats,
you can do whatever the fuck you want.
But, you know, there's been a massive pushback in intellectualism
and science in general by people in power.
So, you know, and we've defunded a lot of good science
that we did before.
So it's very depressing now and misinformation is rampant.
Yeah.
It's a pretty shitty time to want to have responsible teaching in science.
So all I'm saying is let me enjoy my South African hot rock massage in peace.
Did it make you feel good, Joey?
It made me feel fucking awesome.
That's all that's important.
Great way to celebrate my birthday.
Yes.
You know, that's all that matters.
But, hey, look at all these patrons.
They're also something that makes me feel joy.
