This unique comedy that can only be described as the first, wrong calm, proves that sometimes best friends make the best enemies.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Alice and Steve takes a wild premise and turns it into a sharp, insightful, laugh-out-loud British comedy with real emotional bite, starring Jermaine Clement and Nicola Walker. The series explores friendship and modern dynamics with a blend of dry, dark, British wit and awkward situational comedy that will delight every generation. Starting point is 00:01:09 What do you think he thinks of me? He hates me, huh? See, you're throwing that out there. I love her so much. Remember, I'm not a psychic or a migrator. What are you doing? I think you're confused about magic. Hi, Slugs.
Starting point is 00:01:25 I am very excited here on you. There is a movie that you can watch for free that I wrote, that I starred in, and that has Bobby Lee, Bill Burr, Trevor Wallace, and so many funny people. Drugstore June is now on YouTube. You can watch it right now for free. Check it out and write something mean in the comments. Am I? I'm in the family, right? No, you're not a female.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Oh, my God. I heard Jules can't come on time to work because of you. No, no, no. Oh, my God. You want to get started? Let's go. I love it. I like, poke the bear.
Starting point is 00:01:58 You want to poke the dragon? All right, let's go. I thought it was a bear. It's what we turned into a dragon. It's a bear dragon. There's another thing about you. About me? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:06 You can't steal my worldview and my point of view. What did I do? What did you say in the belly room, in the green room? I'm a loser. Yeah. That's my thing. It is also my thing. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:02:19 It was never your thing. It has always been my thing. I'm a loser is my thing. And you can't just out literally in front of other comics go, Hey guys, I'm a loser I'd like to referee this conversation Is that since I've known you Since the dawn of time
Starting point is 00:02:32 You both have been TFLs Yeah What's TFL's? Total fucking loser Oh okay That's my term by the way You stole that But I don't think that's your term
Starting point is 00:02:42 I think that's a general I know but something I said out loud In our ecosystem Ooh I like the idea of us having an ecosystem That you're not a part of the ecosystem I am not the family but the ecosystem Okay fine I'll take it
Starting point is 00:02:54 I'm just like algae I think that was always your vibe since I've known you. Thank you. What are you talking about? Every guy was like, oh, Esther. You call me Little Gnome yesterday. You are one to me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:05 That's just like what I'm attracted to. I have always been friends with you, like a daughter. You know what you bug eyes. Bug eyes? I've never been told that in my life. Yeah. You know what your eyes are like when Ghalm was transforming midstage? Do you remember when like he was eating the fish?
Starting point is 00:03:25 You know, midstage, Ghalam. I don't want to feel like a loser. You're not a loser. I'm the losers of all losers. Wait, I do want to say... Can I have the blanket? I do want to say on a very serious note that like six... Nice way to do that.
Starting point is 00:03:39 You just take him in the face. So cold in here. On a serious note, six years ago, I was extremely depressed because I had achieved all my dreams. I know it's hard to believe that since I'm sitting here in a grimace t-shirt. But, like, I was on a sitcom. I had shot my special. and I was the saddest I've ever felt and I randomly turned on Tiger Belly
Starting point is 00:03:58 and you were like, I'm really depressed even though I have everything it really like made me okay. Why? Because I felt like oh I'm not like this broken thing that something's wrong with me like he feels that way too and I can clearly see that he's someone I look up to
Starting point is 00:04:14 and is successful like this is going to be okay although looking now it's not I'm just kidding. Well it's interesting it's you just have to be okay with where you're at. And I'm getting better at it.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Okay. If I'm constantly chasing and I move the goalpost all the time, that you're never going to find true living in the moment happiness. There's a couple of people I try to think about because it just makes me so sad, you know, like Oliver. It's also when you get to my age, death, you really think about death a lot. Like I'll be on TikTok and like, you know what I mean? Like the lady from the lady that's saying that.
Starting point is 00:04:53 song, what's that song? A lady just died this week. Yeah, what's the song? Bonnie Tyler. Bonnie Tyler just died. Yeah. And then I quickly Google like, how old was she? Yeah. How did she die? She was 75. Yeah, she's old. So I have 20 more years left. If. No, I don't think so because your colonoscopy was clear. I know, but maybe they didn't go deep. You're eating sweet potato in the morning. He got a dehydrator for it to make jerky for healthy snacks. Wow. So his only thing right now is vaping, but he also went to all of Young got like $3,000 worth of skincare. Mm-hmm. I got a machine. What's it called?
Starting point is 00:05:25 The Vr-R-R-W- Yeah, yeah, the face machine. That one doesn't really work. It doesn't work. No, and you got the red light that also is, doesn't work. I look older now, you know, because of it, I think, yeah. Yeah, so he wakes up and makes sweet potatoes. He's been eating sardines and sardines only. But I went up.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Why can't you eat them? They're gross, but they're like these super hot girls food. They're gross to you? Yeah. You like them? It depends on what, like, Fish Wife is because I know the person for Fishwife. Do you know them? Caroline Fonnellin.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Yeah. Anyway. Caroline Lovish. Love it. Caroline Goldfar. I know. But what I want to say, can I defend sardines for you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I hate them too. What? You guys hate sardines. No, but I ate them today. The skin. I ate a can of salmon and a can of sardines. The sardines were in coconut curry. In the can?
Starting point is 00:06:14 Yeah, they put it in the can. It's supposed to taste like a fish because it's a fish. Oh. Yeah. Well, then you do raw fish. I do. For people like us, you know what I mean? We have to hide.
Starting point is 00:06:23 it a little bit. I don't like fishy things. I don't like, you know. You like, bro, you are Korean. You have mackerel every single meal. I don't have mackerel every meal. You're supposed to. No, you're not. No, you're roots. No. You're getting exhausted. I'm exhausted already. My thing is, and we've talked about this, is that everything that's coming back around now that's very expensive, that's all of a sudden trendy is once upon a time considered a poor man's food. Gentrified. Yes. It's a gentrified. And it, you know, growing up in the Philippines, like we had this thing called Senorita sardines, which was, forest the upon us as children because it was kind of like
Starting point is 00:06:55 the cheaper thing to eat and it was straight up sardines with like the little crunchy bones still in it. Yeah, I did the crunchy bones. And with like it's really shitty like tomato sauce. Good for your calcium. Yeah. And so like you know you learn to have this like nostalgia around sardines and then everyone yucks your yum growing up. Look at her face.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Oh, give me a break. Everyone yucked. You don't own sardines? I'm just saying this is my beef. Everybody's yum has been yucked. Okay. I was made fun of for eating bologna. I don't think so. I don't think so. That's bad for you. I don't know the trend. I don't know the trend. And I will have never yucked baloney. I'm like, that's just mortadela, whatever it is. You know, it's so bad for you. I know, but I grew up in the 90s in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I get it. Do you want from my mom? Like what American cheese, baloney and white bread? Yeah. Yeah. I grew up on spam. People yuck spam. Like, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:07:39 So it's like now it's a little bit annoying that like all like the cool people. I'm like, I'm on a strict sardine diet. It's like those same people have literally like gone over to my house and said, ew, what is that? Oh, those. people did? Yes. Those people did.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Yes. Yeah, I don't think so. Yes. Even when I was like... So it's like people like me that discover... I didn't know what a sardine was. Yes, you did. No, I didn't.
Starting point is 00:08:02 All of a sudden, you're Mr. Sardine man. And by the way, when you walked into a house yesterday because I was over there. Yeah. He goes, I want to show you my collection. Come here. Come here. Let me show you my collection. I have a collection of it's a whole pantry of just sardines.
Starting point is 00:08:13 From different companies. This man has been 10 years telling me how disgusting I am for eating sardines. The Sardine Man can. Yeah, yeah, the Sardine man can. And so also I'll just tell you my health stuff. I've been smoothing it. Yeah. Smoothing your sardines?
Starting point is 00:08:28 No. As a salt agent, you know, like an anchovy. Yeah, I've been making very healthy smoothies. And I've been like eating a lot of kimchi and sourcrop. But I've been cheating a little bit because it's like I don't want to live like this anymore. You can't, yeah. I don't think you can. I'm really impressed by your dehydrator.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Why are you pitching a dehydrator as a health food when it's like you're just taking the moisture out of stuff that makes it worse. Just because he's using it as like a healthy snack thing where it's like instead of additives. I haven't you had dehydrogen anything yet. He hasn't. I have the machine. He never will.
Starting point is 00:09:03 He needs a little how to come over and show him how to dehydrate. No, I can Google it. I Google a lot. You know, it tells you instructions of how to do things. Oh, Google does? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. What I wanted to talk about is something that I feel like you and I talked about for so long and they actually have
Starting point is 00:09:19 a term for it now. What is it? It's called airport divorce. Have you heard about it? No, what's that? Basically, you go in as a couple, married or in a relationship, but you pretend like you don't know each other at the airport because you cannot stand the other person's TSA behavior. What?
Starting point is 00:09:37 Yeah. How could the TSA behavior be that bad? I thought it was going to be like so you could spy on people. No, it's like. So Bobby and I for a long time in our relationship, one of the biggest things was I, as soon as we gotten to the airport like I would go as far away as possible. Everyone does that with me. His new girlfriend does the same thing.
Starting point is 00:09:55 What does he do? After I get through the like ID portion and the little photograph portion. First of all, can I say about the, you know, the photograph they do? Yeah. You can deny that. Really? Yeah. Again, it fights about that.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Okay. Legally, I'm, you know, I mean, I can object to this photo, you know, for governmental purposes or whatever the, you can say things like that. And they go, are you sure because it's not that big of a video? I go, I have my right. I have my right. My dad used to keep me home from school on standardized testing day because he was like,
Starting point is 00:10:23 I don't want them using your data for like the government. Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Did he really? Yeah, and then we'd play video games together. How cute. Yeah, well, not really. He taught me how to be a con artist. It's not that good.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah, yeah, it is good. Con artist is good, a good skill trait. And when your son gets older, I'm going to teach him all kinds of stuff. Oh my God. Like, what does that mean? Just how to get it through life. Yesterday, we were over at his house
Starting point is 00:10:47 And my son thought that the Nintendo Switch, like just that, and he was playing with it like it was. He didn't know what it was. And Bobby's like, he doesn't know what that is. I'm like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:10:57 he's one and a half. He shouldn't know what that is. Yeah, he knows how to play games. Yesterday, my son went into his bedroom because like he has a really fun bedroom. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:11:06 Jules go in there. Yeah, I didn't like that. He's going to pick up a lighter. I told him how to use it. Oh my God. He's one year old. I know.
Starting point is 00:11:15 And he was amazed by the fire. He was. Yeah. How do you raise a kid and they don't know if that fire would be the first thing you teach them? He knows fire, but on the still. You got to know, you got to know fire. No. Yeah, square.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Like what a square is, fire. What a square is. That's a really weird. A triangle. Shapes. Shapes. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:35 He knows fire. He knows fire. Yeah, because he, we help the kitchen. He knows heat. He goes hot, hot. Okay, good. So, but like literal fire. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:44 I taught him that. What would you say is your relationship? Are you his uncle? He's Tito Bobby. I'm his Tita Bobby. Okay. Yeah. And he really likes me.
Starting point is 00:11:53 He does. Wait, yeah, airport divorce. What do you do at the airport once you get past? Here's another thing is that sometimes I'll go after you get to the ID checking area. What's it called? TSA? TSA. Security.
Starting point is 00:12:06 So after I'm through the security checkpoint TSA, as you said, after that, you don't ask me any more questions. Like sometimes I'll go, where are you going? I go, none of your business. I've never had them ask me. a question. Oh yeah. They recognize you and want to talk. No, no, no, that's not what it is. Right? They pat me down. It's like all the time. Because you've had weird shit. No, no, no, no, no, they'll pat my butt-x area. They'll put, you know what I mean, my pocket area when there's clearly nothing in it. Pocket area? Yeah, and they'll just pat me. Do you like it?
Starting point is 00:12:33 kind of. I don't like it at all. I like a pass-down. It's intrusive. My girlfriend will do three lanes, like three people before me. But why? Because what is the reason? Because I'm just in a grumpy mood. He's like really unbearable to be around. I think I'm getting better at it, but it's like, I think Ari Shafir taught me the bad ways. And he'll slam things. You know, the little tray, throw things. And it's just the vibes are low when it's like, for me, vibes. He's travel.
Starting point is 00:12:59 It's exciting. It's also, can I say that like, can I say that like, I get so angry that like some of them are like shoes, but some of them are not? Like have a universal thing here. The inconsistency. Then I have to ask. I have to go, is this iPad out or in? That's true. Oh, iPad in.
Starting point is 00:13:18 That's true. But then I'm like, I had it out. The inconsistencies are hard. It's consistent. Yeah. And that's something that will drive most people into madness. It's like, you don't know. Yeah, it drives me into madness.
Starting point is 00:13:29 You don't know what you're going to get. Yeah. I think shoes has now stayed on. Again, it depends. It does depend. I don't like that. Do you think you're a good son? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:13:44 No? I'm so afraid of my mom dying that I, like, throw money at it. Why are you afraid of her dying? Because she's old. Do you? She's Mitch McConnell's. Are you close? Yeah, I mean?
Starting point is 00:13:54 How does that? Who happens to be alive? What is that? He doesn't know he's alive. How old is your mom? He just doesn't know. She's 82. That's the same.
Starting point is 00:14:01 My dad just turned 83. Yeah. You know who Mitch McConnell is? He is the speaker of the house. Was. Yeah. He was. He was the speaker of the house.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Yeah. He could still be in his own mind. I mean, like, I think I'm pretty sure he's actually dead and it's just not been said yet. I think that's what Bobby's getting at. Yeah. That's what I'm getting out. Oh, conspiracy theory. It's been a while.
Starting point is 00:14:20 It's not a conspiracy theory. He had a cardiac arrest in his house. Oh, really? Then, like, he was sitting there for hours and hours. An 84-year-old man who used to freeze all the time and fall over on the Senate floor. It sounds like he's alive, but, like, not there. His wife, Elaine Chow, right, went to China three days afterwards to meet with the vice president of China. It's like, if your boyfriend or husband, what do you call him?
Starting point is 00:14:47 What do you call him? What? Can we just call him Aloha? Oh, people know his name? Bobby, we can you. talk about him on our show. So if you had a heart attack, are you talking about Mitch McConnell just to figure out what her relationship status is? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's pretty obvious. It's obvious, yeah. So Aloha, I love him, by the way. If you had a heart attack and he left for, you know, Australia three days later. Yeah. What would you do? It'd be over. It'd be over, right? Yeah. Yeah. What about you? Dave. Do people know Dave's name? Yeah. Also, how does Elaine Chow find him attractive? Why do you? Why do you? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. How do you? Why do you? I don't know? I don't know. I was. Also, why you didn't even know his wife's name? Oh no, we're obsessed with Elaine Chao.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Why? She's their runaway Asian we hate. Yeah, she's a runaway. She's also, she comes from money, you know, and it's like, how do you find him attractive? Everyone's got there something. Yeah, we don't find anyone ugly. You don't find anyone ugly. Not really, not.
Starting point is 00:15:37 If your insides are ugly, then you're ugly. Yeah, it's more like vibes. It's vibes. And honestly, he's got the vibes. He does have a vibe. He does have a vibe. He's got that. I heard bananas are bad for you.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Who said. that. The internet. They have a lot of sugar. No, but if you take a slice of banana and you do a microscope and you look really deep in it, right, there's all these little tiny bugs and stuff in it. It's probably everything. Probably.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Our skin. Oh, do you ever get those where you close your eyes in the sun and you see the little terabyte? I don't know what they call them. I call them terabytes though, but like, I always thought that was like a worm in my eyeball, but I guess everybody has them. Yeah, but they're actually like little. Proteins, right?
Starting point is 00:16:22 No, they're a living thing, right? No, they're no. Well, they're proteins. Like, some of them look like they have a head. And they're like, what's that? Because I have floaters. Yeah, that's a floater. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Yeah. Well, you look at the sun. You've never seen that? I think I have. You must with your eyes. I, what? I get it. I don't like to.
Starting point is 00:16:39 You have big eyes. I do not. Compared to me. Yeah, I just realized. What's up? We have a special guest for everybody today. Oh, we do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We have a professional magician. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi.
Starting point is 00:16:54 You look comfortable. Nice to meet you. You're a magician? Yeah. How the fuck did you know? He just said it. Oh. You know, Shin Lim?
Starting point is 00:17:02 Yeah. Yeah, he's a great guy. You know, sometimes they'll, like, have a card, and then it'll be smoke, and then the card will be in his mouth. I'm not really actually... You don't like slide of hand? What's that mean? Magic. Welcome to the show.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Hi. No, you're all good. I'm a guest as well. I rarely do this. How long you've been a magician? I've been doing magic since I was a kid. That's incredible. You have to practice as a kid, I think.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. You constantly did a, is your dad a magician? No, no. My family are all like regular business people. Oh, they are? Just really weird. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Yeah. You started with a deck of cards? Yeah. Okay. And who was your like idol? I mean, you must have had somebody that you looked. What? Nothing.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Go ahead. I like this. I like that he's taking over the show. It's really good. Like I said, I'm a guess as well. And, um... You guys have that in common. We have that in common.
Starting point is 00:17:48 We have so much in common. Yeah. I'm going to take this. What is that? It's a zen. Is it gum? Make a teen patch. Excuse me for a second.
Starting point is 00:18:04 The way he gobble that banana is wild. Hey, slow down. You're going to choke. Are you a magician? Now, if you fall all the way back out, I'll be really impressed. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I'm shutting down. I think this is, is this magic? It's my former magic. It's a banana down to hatch in like 0.1 second. Yeah, that was pretty good. I can't say anything I'll do will be more entertaining than that. Maybe more impressive, but maybe not more entertaining. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:33 I can't do that with a banana for sure. You can't, okay. I apologize for that, but I eat food, pretty quick, fruits very quickly. That was why specifically fruit? I don't know why. I just need to eat it quickly. Where did you grow up? Where are you free?
Starting point is 00:18:46 Canada. Oh, okay. Oh, there are a lot of Canadian magicians. There was what I saw on, I think it was AGT or something. Was he, do some with doves? Do you think all magicians know each other? I think if you're Canada, there's a club, no? There is a club.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Yeah, yeah. So they're like, you know, they know each other. Like comics know each other from L.A., right? Yeah. Some of them you might not like. There's probably magicians. You're like, fuck that guy's a hack. Yeah, we don't love the dove guys.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Why? Why? Yeah. Animals. Yeah. That makes sense. Well, they have to be stuck in the jacket or whatever. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:19:19 That is pretty. That's horrible. And they're just sitting there like this, right? Yeah. And he pulls it out. And you know what I mean? In the double cages. Yeah, it's terrible.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I just remember being a kid like backstage with magicians and you'd see them in their dressing and I'm shoving their doves and I'm like, okay. Oh, that's sad. I'm going to stick to card tricks. You know, I always thought that that was cruel. Yeah. Yeah. Especially when you're doing like that spark thing.
Starting point is 00:19:40 It's like a spark or something. Yeah. It's so that you're startled, but he's just really pulling a dove out. Yeah. And doves are like so incredible. I know people shit on pigeons and doves. but they are literally the most precious beings. They also make great pets.
Starting point is 00:19:57 I don't know anyone that shits on pigeons or dove. Dubs are like beloved. But a dove is just a pigeon, right? Yeah, I have no problems with any of those birds. You personally don't, but people find them to be like the pests. I think you and I are the same. Yeah, doves are like angelic and like biblical. They're un-paintings and biblical, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I know and they release the doves of it all, but I'm just saying like, They're just pigeons, right? I don't know. I don't even thought about it. To me, they're birds. Can someone look that up? What about you? How do you feel about dubs and pigeons?
Starting point is 00:20:31 White pigeons. Dubs are pigeons, right? I guess racism spreads to birds. They just like the doves. Yes, all pigeons are dubs. Okay, this is my beef with this whole thing. Because the public just likes the dubs. Yeah, they only like the white bird.
Starting point is 00:20:42 And it represents peace and unity and love or whatever it is. And they shit on pigeons. That's racist. That's racist. That's all I wanted to point out because I love pigeons. Are you part of the castle? What's it, the magic castle? Yeah, I've performed there.
Starting point is 00:20:55 You do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you been? I've never been because you have to, somebody has to bring you, right? I can bring you. Oh, I'd love to come. And you've never been invited. I don't believe that for one second.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Well, Shindlin, I know Shinn, I know some of the other ones, but I think they have invited me, but it's like, I don't know. He's really into magic, though, like, hardcore. I love magic so much. Hardcore. Because it's discipline, it's, like, pressure. It's like a lot of, like, technical things. Art form.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Oh my God, it is. Yeah. And I fall for it every time. I'm like, how do they? What the fuck? You know, and I just think it's great. That's a perfect audience member. Then you need to go to the Magic Castle.
Starting point is 00:21:33 We won't want more people like that. With the way you describe your feeling about magic, it's cool to go for a night where you get like punched in the face by magic the entire night. I look. I know what's happening. Do you? All of it? All of it. I know what's happening.
Starting point is 00:21:47 I don't go in. I'm like always in like in absolute all. and I never want to know what's happening. You think it's really wizard shit? I truly believe it's wizard shit. Kyle. It's one of those things where it's like, you guys make fun of me because I believed in Santa Claus
Starting point is 00:22:01 for till I was like a teenager, but it's like, that's just not a bubble I ever want to burst for myself and it adds a little bit of like, you know, this flare. You still believe Santa Claus is real. I think the spirit of him is true. Oh, here we go. So that's not a bubble I want to burst for myself
Starting point is 00:22:17 and magic is one of those things where I want to leave like awestruck and I don't want to know how it's done. I believe in Tooth Fairy. He's taking 18 teeth from me. I would venture to say way more than 18. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's taking all my teeth.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Is that true? You've lost teeth? A lot, yeah. What's in your mouth then? Like, see this? Yeah. He took it. He doesn't want to fill the holes in his mouth like ever.
Starting point is 00:22:44 No matter how much money he has. He says like, I don't have a lot of money. Well, whatever. You have enough for some implants. I could do implants, yeah, but the... Breast? No, what it entails is something that I don't want to venture right now. Like pain in the mouth?
Starting point is 00:22:58 Like drilling into the jaw bone with metal. Then it's got a heel and it's got to stick out. And they screw it on and the whole thing. What if like the two front ones came out? Would you do it? Oh, I don't have to. Yeah. I wish you wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:23:10 I think if one of them fell out, it would just be me. It'd be funny. Yeah, yeah. What happened to your teeth? What? Where'd your teeth go? The tooth, Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:23:20 My parents didn't ever talk me about flossing or really brushing twice a day. You're 55. Now I do it. You're 55. It's incredible. Isn't that magic? Do your teeth fall out in your 50s? Is this what I have to look forward?
Starting point is 00:23:34 No, no. No, did you floss? Yeah. You're fine, I think. Thank you. Thank you. I'm 22. Oh, you're a kid.
Starting point is 00:23:40 They've been gone. His teeth have been gone for ages. Okay. That's okay. I eat gum chew. You gum chew? You eat gum chew? No, no.
Starting point is 00:23:48 I chew with my gums. Oh, that is. true. We go to if you go to Steakhouse with Bobby you know, again, another kind of magic is, yeah, he does. He does, exactly. He'll take a piece and he will just swallow
Starting point is 00:24:01 like gum it and then swallow it whole. That will rot in your stomach. I know, I get tummy aches. Because I have that problem too where I don't chew enough and then the food rots in my stomach and I have permanent bad breath. Yeah, exactly. High five. Hi five. Anyway, 22 is young for being
Starting point is 00:24:18 like a professional magician. I feel old. You feel old. But I've also been doing it my whole life. So like when I can say that I've been doing something for like 10 years, I feel old. Can I just say something, young lady? Yes. I didn't start stand up until it was 23.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Really? Yeah, and I was a kid to already be at a level, you know, of like I'm being invited on Trash Tuesday. And Trash Tuesday. It has to be the pinnacle of your career. It's been on the bucket list for a while. You know what this podcast does? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Oh, yay. Oh, that's so sweet. How? Are you going to show us something today? Yeah, sure. You don't believe in sleight of hand. It's a term I'm just learning about today. So no one's ever done magic in front of you?
Starting point is 00:24:59 No, I have. My dad used to like magic who would take me to magic shops. No, that's not what this is. A magic shop. Here's a fart spray. What are you talking about? No, that's a gag shop. But magic shops and gag shops are usually in the same building.
Starting point is 00:25:13 That's true. Yeah, there's a section for gags. But there's a man, usually typically a man. I didn't make the rules. working there who, you know, just does the tricks to sell them. Or he's an old man with suspenders in a bow tie, is what you're saying? That's the picture you're painting. It's not wrong.
Starting point is 00:25:29 So have you seen close up like hard stuff ever, really? No. Not much. Have you been to a magic show? No. Really? Yeah, I'm scared. No, don't be scared.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Are you going to put a curse on me? No, no, it's not that kind of magic. Can you tell me like what's going to happen in the next few months? No, you're good. You're good. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. Ask my girl from her that. Really?
Starting point is 00:25:50 Oh yeah, yeah. Okay, are you good with cards? I'll give them to you to shuffle. Yeah. You don't have to be good. You can mess it up whatever you want, just shuffle them so they're in a random order. You've never seen a magic trick up close to anything like that? No.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Okay. Fully shuffled. We'll show to the, where's my camera here? We'll show that there's a shuffle deck of cards. I'll show you here. All the cards are mixed. I'm gonna go through the cards like this whenever you want you to say stop. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Stop. Happy there. All right, have a look at that card. I won't look. Can you show everyone? Can you show it to everyone? Make sure I don't see. Card guns. Everyone's seen it?
Starting point is 00:26:19 Okay, we're gonna do the same thing. I'm gonna give the cards to you. What I want you do is shuffle the cards. So I don't know where it is and you don't know where it is. So lose it in the deck. You saw it, Bobby? I think I forgot it. I forgot it.
Starting point is 00:26:29 I forgot it too. I got it. As long as one person knows where it is, but. Oh, I think I know. All right. Okay, here we go. Happy. Now there's two options. We could find your card with the deck or without the deck. What do you want?
Starting point is 00:26:41 What? Let's do it with the deck. With the deck? Yeah. Okay. Oh. Let's see if I'm right. Look at me.
Starting point is 00:26:53 black card red card black card red card it's a black card right try to give nothing i can't poker face i can say correct yeah you can say i'm correct it's a black card yes and it's not a club it's a spade right yes and of those there's picture cards like jack queen king or numbers cards picture number picture number four five six seven eight four five six seven eight it's the seven of spades yes you're gonna know it's this yeah Yeah. Are you scared? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:27:26 There's nothing to be scared of it. Yeah. Do you know how to do that, Bobby? No, I can't. I have no idea how she did that. Okay, so in your deep obsession with magic, you haven't tried to, like, delve into, like, how slight of hand works?
Starting point is 00:27:37 I mean, obviously, she stopped at a place where she knew where the card was. She gave me the whole deck. Yeah, yeah. And I shuffled it, like, six times, right? Yeah, but then, okay. See, it's real. In my head, it's real. That was incredible.
Starting point is 00:27:50 That was incredible. Is there another one or is that? I can do more if you guys. I was going to see something? Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let's see what else you go. You've never done this before. No, I've never done this before.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I'm going to do it for the first time. I've got a book you can flip through. You'll see there's about 200, 300, 300 pages. Just check that they're all different. Every page is different. Okay. Let me check. Yeah, psychoanalyze. It's never even been open.
Starting point is 00:30:22 You can see. And it's the great Gatsby. Okay. I like out there. I don't want to touch it. Just because you're closed. Because you never read a book before. I'm going to go through like this similar as before.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Say stop whenever you like, but this time I'll give you options to change. So say stop right here. Do you want to change or are you happy with that? I am okay with that page. Okay. Look at the first word on that page. Okay. Bobby, do you want to look?
Starting point is 00:30:43 Look at the first word on that page? Yeah. Okay, you remember it? You remember it? I'm gonna close the book up. You didn't see it? Do you ask him? Ask him the questions. Okay, you're happy with this word or are you in different words? I'm not happy with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to pick. Okay. Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah. Hi. Hello. How are you? Good. Okay. Okay. Okay. I got to get inside of your head. Okay. I'm gonna go through like this. Okay. You just say stop whatever you want? Stop. Happy there?
Starting point is 00:31:09 Yes. Do you want a different one? Are you happy? Okay. You got it? Yeah. Are you happy? Yes, I am.
Starting point is 00:31:17 I'm very happy. Okay. Do you like this word? No, it's a tough word for me. It's a tough word for me. It's a tough word for you? Yeah. Think of a letter that's somewhere in the middle of that word.
Starting point is 00:31:26 If there's a vowel, think of a vowel. Okay. It's an A, yes? Yeah. And after the A, it's an R. Yes. It's A R. I know this is a difficult word.
Starting point is 00:31:37 For you. Yeah. Is this word hard? Yes. Yeah. It's hard. It was hard. The word is hard?
Starting point is 00:31:48 What word is it? Hard. Oh, that's the word? Yeah. I got a little bit. I've never had such delayed reactions to a trick ever. She has no idea what's going on. I'm curious with your magic skills.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Memorized lines in a TV show. I'm just curious, like, can I ask you some questions? So you are like, A magician. What do you think, how would you describe the relationship, any of the, any of this triangle? She's not a psychic. She's a magician. But it's crossover.
Starting point is 00:32:23 It's not crossover at all. They have to cross train on these things. I bet you, you can't graduate magic school without taking a course in psychic. Is there a college? There's no magic school. What are you picking up on? There's like a Hogwarts she goes to for four years? What?
Starting point is 00:32:37 Oh my gosh. What about like between me and him? Oh yeah, especially between the both of them. What is this? What do you feel? Nothing. Yeah, I feel nothing too. I try again.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Yeah, yeah. And what about us too? Oh, yeah. A lot. Yeah, there's a lot going on in this corner of the room for sure. Do you know the history between us? No, but I'm picking up on it. And you're like on the therapy catch right now.
Starting point is 00:33:03 It's nice. I feel like I should get my clipboard out. We have a podcast together. Yeah, we still work. Every week. Yeah, we've been broken up for a long time. I love her. Aloha.
Starting point is 00:33:14 That's my boyfriend. It's my partner. And I love her child. Yeah. He's a part of my family. I love his girlfriend and we vacation together. Say it. What do you think he thinks of me?
Starting point is 00:33:32 He hates me, huh? See, you're throwing that out there. There's no. I love her so much. Remember, I'm not a psychic or a migrator. I know. doing? I think you're confused about magic.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Everything I do is bullshit. I have no answers for you. It's like asking a pool guy, right? Can you build a house? It's like, I don't only do pools. Yeah, I think you're confused about magic. Sometimes, like, I feel like if something isn't working for me, like, we can like find a new way to work it.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Like, I'm not like a magic person, but I feel like maybe you have other skills. Also, you're so young. Like, you have a new perspective. You can bring fresh eyes on everything here, even if it's not magic. Yeah. No? On to the next magic trick. I want to see more magic.
Starting point is 00:34:16 No, no. Let's just get with your intuition here, okay? You're saying that magic is in the same realm as wizards and witches and those kind of things. Spells, curses, psychics. But they're absolutely not. It's more like each other than not like each other. It's like being like, I make cabinets. No, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:36 You're missing the rest of that reference. Or like something that you need precise practice and a skill. Okay, I have a question for you. Would you say magic is closer to a mathematician? Yes. It's closer to a mathematician. I was going to say like stand-up comedy for you guys to prepare and perform the timing matters and execution and all that stuff. But don't you think stand-up comedians are intuitive?
Starting point is 00:35:01 I think all human beings are intuitive. Well, then there's nothing wrong with me asking her these questions. She's not a human being? Just as a fourth person in the room asking her what she thinks of buy this is completely okay. I think it's okay. I think it's okay. Yeah. It's just like just more critical thinking, I think.
Starting point is 00:35:17 Okay. From me? Yeah. Oh, okay. From me. Can I see more? I'm so excited by all of this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I only got a few things. I don't get out of the house much. I don't get out of the house much. So this is like my entertainment for the year, truly. As a magician, do you only dressed in black? On stage mostly, I feel. like I'm in black, but life maybe. I think I'm a black guy too.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Yeah. Dressing in terms of... What time did you go to bed last night? Midnight. Do you have a boyfriend? No. I love these questions. Why don't you have a boyfriend?
Starting point is 00:35:53 There might be something wrong with me. No, there's absolutely not. No, it's not. Are you on apps or anything? Oh, my God. That would be cool. That's a good idea, like having a magic dating app. For magicians.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Yeah, but I don't want to date a magician. Okay, that's what I want to ask you. because comics date comics Why are you pointing at us like we dated You dated comics I've dated a comic before Tony Hinscliff Anyway
Starting point is 00:36:15 A couple Is that like Tony Hinscliff anyway And would you say like You would never date a comic Like if just Obviously you're with Dave You've been a long time
Starting point is 00:36:25 Like if that wasn't the case Would you ever date another comic I would say that the wise thing to do Wouldn't be to not date one of your peers How is that as with the magic world? Well So magic is like 99% dudes and like 1% chicks. Oh.
Starting point is 00:36:41 So the magic industry is just like a big ass sausage party. Is that good or bad for the girls? I mean, it's good in a career sense that it's like I've always had a path in my career and a way to stand out. Do the creepy old magicians hit on you? Yeah. Yeah, but that's so much of what magic is. It's still that stereotype.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Like magic in some ways is like 30 years behind the time because it's 99% like old white guys, you know. It's changing now, but I have exactly. Do they ever do creepy stuff? like, okay, one time when I was 21, I was at the comedy store, and this old guy, one of Bobby's peers, came up to me and was like... Was he a magician? He was a comedian.
Starting point is 00:37:18 He was like, you're naughty. I was like, what? He's like, I had a dream about you and you were naughty. Was he a lot older than you? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my God. What do you?
Starting point is 00:37:29 What? How long ago was this? I was 21. Why, I really love that about you. You never. do that. You don't go out to the comedy club and you're like, you're nutty.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I had a dream about you. I've never done that. Thank the Lord. To set the scene, it's like that person did that and then Bobby's like you want to go to Denny's? That's more my thing. Yeah, and then like would go to Denny's
Starting point is 00:37:53 and just like make up stories. Yeah. I like hanging out with comics and like having, because you know back in the 50s to 60s and New York and stuff, you know, comics would like to deli the other and that's why like you know this strong bond between like new york comics and they all
Starting point is 00:38:11 help each other now that's why they're all like i feel like you don't want to have a bond with me anymore you have two children yeah you're married how when do you have time to bond i don't know this is true isn't that true yeah i think it's 50 50 here bud well anyways i no no don't change a tough subject okay i love you okay i really do okay okay i'm learning so much about all of you it's history it's history It's like, you know, I've known her for how long? 17 years? 17 years. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:38:40 That's a long time. Yeah. I knew. I've known her for a very long time. So there's a lot of history. Also, I've been around in the comedy industry for since 95. You know, you weren't even born then. No.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Yeah. When were you born? Oh, 2020. 2003? Wow. After 9-11. That's crazy. Like with magicians, though, since you are like one of the few girls in the game,
Starting point is 00:39:04 is there like a sense of like community like do you guys go out to eat is there like real friendship or is it like really competitive with the other women in magic you mean oh just like I mean the magic community has been super supportive because I started when I was so young like most of the magic communities know me since I was 10 or 12 and as watch we kind of grow up and they've all wanted to see it change like they've all wanted young women to be in magic and to kind of change the industry and do you see that happening like is there a new like breed of a new generation who continue. Yeah, I mean, I think right now,
Starting point is 00:39:38 magic's doing better than it ever has. And there's also so many, yeah. There's also so many different ways to see it. Like when I was a kid, there wasn't, and even before that, it was like, there was a Copperfield special, or there's David Blaine or Chris Angel. And like, that was what a magician looked like.
Starting point is 00:39:51 But now with like AGT and social media and shows like, fool us, like we've seen hundreds of magicians online or on social media or TV. So now if you're a kid, you want to be a magician, there's like hundreds of magicians you want to be like. Oh, that's awesome. So you can grow your,
Starting point is 00:40:03 magic here on social media just like other. It's similar like because the kind of magic I do on stage is more kind of like stand up style. So in the same way for me it's like crowd work clips and stuff like that. The difference is my crowd work is like on stage with somebody. Oh, I see. Okay. You could transition to becoming a
Starting point is 00:40:20 comic. Yeah, I love comedy. Yeah. She can do double. Like a boberman. Oh, with magic. What is your goal with magic? What is your goal with comedy? What is these questions? It's our first time with a magician. Okay. I'm just, I know, but what I'm saying is is that obviously what do you see what's in your future?
Starting point is 00:40:38 I literally don't know. Magic fucking magic. No, it could be like Vegas headlining. It could be like owning a magic shop. Like I literally don't know what magic. I know, but she doesn't live in the results. How do you know? You can't live in the results.
Starting point is 00:40:51 When you started 10, you live in a result. How about we just ask her and which Esther did? Let's just wait for her answer. We don't know. Sorry. Did I, was that my mind? But I do want to ask you, what are your dreams? Like what is the one thing where you're like working to
Starting point is 00:41:03 wars where you're like, oh, that would be so fucking cool. It's a lot. I feel like I've kind of been doing it for the last little bit. Like, I've been on tour for the last year with the show and we did Sydney Opera House. Oh my God. We do London West End this summer and then we do Vegas. Amazing. Is it just you or is it a team? No, you guys know the now you see me movies that it does.
Starting point is 00:41:23 So it's the live version of that. Oh, that's so cool. We've been doing a tour with that. And that's kind of what I've always wanted to do. Like there's obviously other things that I wanted my career. But when I was a kid, my dream was just to like tour and travel and do what I love. And what are like, what are the crowds like? Like who's coming out to a magic show?
Starting point is 00:41:42 It's kind of everything. Like it's empty? No, that is not. You projected that. No, that's what you mean what kind of crowds? It's people like me. That's what I'm asking. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Who loves shows. Why you so mad at Esther? She just asked a question. You're right. I'm sorry. It's me. It's me. Give me a hug.
Starting point is 00:42:00 You know why? Yeah. No, you know why? Because I do a podcast with you. He doesn't like me. Because when I see him at the clubs, yeah, I'll hug. What is a hug? It's meaningless.
Starting point is 00:42:12 I'll see him at the club and I feel like there's this like thing against me and it has to change you. No, I think it's, can I just say it? Do you're not real? Where do you get those? I think he treats you the way he treats me, which is, I'm an extension of you now. It's pure comfort. That's how I would read it. He gets to be just silly and all over the place and mean and he can just be nasty.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Like I walk in the comedy story. He's like, why are you taking my housekeeper? Yeah, you are. You need her 24-7? Yeah, I do. Sorry, my babysitter is her niece and that's his housekeeper. So it's a little complicated. She's actually not the housekeeper.
Starting point is 00:42:55 He just forces her to clean the house like Cinderella. There's no official. job title, nothing. It's just like you live here, you clean everything. Did you pick up on any of that before we said it? No.
Starting point is 00:43:10 I'm not a psychic. She's not a psychic, man. Yeah, why do you keep? I think you're a little confused as well. Yeah, I think you're confused. Yeah, yeah. She's a magician. So I think we should just like,
Starting point is 00:43:23 you know, just do like some improv exercises. Okay, okay, okay, let's go, let's go. And just loosen up. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, one, three, three, three, three, Yeah, yeah. OCD?
Starting point is 00:43:33 What? No. Theater war-ups. Oh, really? Yeah. Red leather yellow leather. Red leather yellow leather. Red leather yellow leather.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Red leather. You know that one? No. When you say red leather yellow leather and you're tongue-tied on us, like you're acting. Red leather yellow-letter. Red leather yellow-letter. Red leather yellow-letter. It gets you on the tongue so we do that.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Before you're about to go on the stage and a play. Or when you're like, you know, there's a thing where you're mimicking, like, you're not supposed to be talking about you're supposed to be pretending that you're talking from the background. You see. watermelon a bunch of times. I think that's for like extras, right? It is. Background. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:44:08 I call them background. Yeah. That's polite. Okay. Like animal, animal noises. Okay. You're not doing anything. This is the weirdest podcast.
Starting point is 00:44:22 This is the weirdest podcast. Is it really? Yeah. Okay. How do normal podcasts talk to you? Maybe we should learn from. With less animal noises, usually. Oh, with less animal noise.
Starting point is 00:44:34 But it's interesting. It is interesting. Watermelon. What do you think of, like, that I'm 38? Is that, like, is that old to you? No. See, this is insanity. I think what you're, I think what you're...
Starting point is 00:44:49 Like, you're asking me every question you've ever had right now. It's good. I'm 38. Is that weird to you? I think about that question. What about it? Yeah. It's not weird to me.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Well, no, I'm not asking you. You're not 20. Yeah, yeah. There are other people that are 38 you've met. Yeah. Was that they ever weird to you? Weird? Do you feel bad for them?
Starting point is 00:45:09 38-year-olds? What about 55-year-olds? No, everything's, you guys are okay. Yeah, we're so insecure. I'm not insecure. Do you think Esther's insecure? Yeah, we all are. Yeah, we all are.
Starting point is 00:45:23 This gave me a really good insight into how she's not in our ecosystem, right? And now she's perceiving it. Yeah, and you know what? And she thinks that we're weird. And we're failing this test, you guys. We're failing. What I want to do is. This is like my nightmare scenario.
Starting point is 00:45:39 I got to like really express myself for a second here. Because I'm like a people pleaser and you guys are like really like fucking up my insides right now. All I wanted was to see some fucking magic and for this wonderful magician to show us her wonderful magical craft. And you guys are being fucking weirdos. I don't think I am. I'm a professional. Welcome to America. She's wonderful and I just, we'll see some magic.
Starting point is 00:46:06 I think she's much more than you guys think she is. Well, she thinks I'm a psychic. Yeah, I think she has powers that none of us even know yet. That's a problem. I think that's a problem. You're really confused about her career and her. I think you're going to see in a couple years that I actually was not confused. When I turn into a mind reader.
Starting point is 00:46:26 Okay. I want to honor Colila's feelings. I want to hear the magician. What? I want to hear my psychic tell me. I can't tell you anything about your life. That's not her skill set. Welcome to America.
Starting point is 00:46:44 You want to see a magic trick? You know, I'm a little bit psychic. Oh, my God. I'm not, so that's good. That's good, yeah. Okay. I'll do something with you then because I haven't done anything. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Okay, can you stand up? Is that okay with you? Okay, put your hands in front of you just like this, a little higher, like hold them right here. Can you keep your hands? still like that the whole time. Yeah. So keep your hands there and don't move.
Starting point is 00:47:03 We're going to try something with Bobby. Can you help? I just need one of your hands. You can stay seated if you want. Just give me your left or right hand. How tall are you? That's fine. I'm five, too.
Starting point is 00:47:13 I'm in heels, don't worry. So stay exactly where you are. In permanent marker, we're going to make an X on Bobby's hand, just like that. I'll watch close. Slowly, we're going to take the X from his hand. Mm-hmm. Hold it here. Now quick, say right hand or left hand.
Starting point is 00:47:32 or left hand right hand or put that hand down leave this one right where it is i won't touch you slowly turn your hand over it's not a curse it's a magic trick you're fine i have to go very good very good give her a round of applause that was very good oh my god wow wow that's scary you you're okay am i sick no no no that's called magic you're fine you're fine you're marked that's just a tattoo though so you can't take it off yeah we'll be there for a Sorry. That's okay. She's used to that,
Starting point is 00:48:12 ephemeral. That was incredible. Like, it's completely off of my hand. It transferred to your hand. Is it really off your hand? Look. And now you two are connected. So everything's fine now.
Starting point is 00:48:22 You fix them. Yeah. That's what we needed, right? That's your ultimate magic trick. That was an energy transfer. Now, when you first did that trick, how long did it take you to perfect it? Not too long.
Starting point is 00:48:35 I feel like magic motion of what I do is like, I do it in performance. Like, I figure out the tricks in performance. Like, I did that trick for people before I ever practiced it. Kind of like I think with comedy, like you have to try your material to know if it's shit or not. So.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Have you ever failed on stage where like a trick didn't work? I love when that happens. Yeah. But magicians kind of have these like out things where you think of everything that can go wrong and you have alternate endings. Like the five of spades that happened, the first trick, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:04 But she tried to just psych me out with saying seven because she already had the five in her. I understand. I understand that what I'm saying is that let's suppose you got that card wrong. Has that ever happened? What would you do? What's the... Like, King of hearts.
Starting point is 00:49:15 And we're like, no, it was five of spades. Like, how do you get out of that? You just turn it into a different ending. Like, where you... Because some people are used to in magic, see, magicians have, like, magician or trouble where they make a mistake and then fix the trick anyways. So whether you pretend to get it wrong, like I did in that
Starting point is 00:49:30 or you actually get it wrong, you just turn it into a different ending. You just then give me the cards back and, like, do it again, like, it's just all part of it. Let's suppose I got... Let's say I'm doing it to you, right? And I pick out a car and, And I go, this is the card.
Starting point is 00:49:43 And you're like, no, it's not. Right. And then I can go, this is the card. I don't know how to turn that into a win for me. Wait, what do you do when people lie? You can just kind of turn it into something else. Like you make fun of them or you figure out what they actually like. Because some people will just say the wrong card to fuck with you.
Starting point is 00:50:03 And then we just have different end dates and stuff like that. I see. Here's the type of magic I don't like when the black felt one was like close hands. Yeah. Do you do the, like, what ball is the cup? That's what I mean. Like, close up, close up magic on a felt thing. It's just that when they're turning over coins, the other side of the coin blends into the felt of the table.
Starting point is 00:50:24 So you kind of know what they're doing. I still like to see you try. It's like street magic. Do you have like a familiarity with street magic? What's a street magic? Like, haven't you ever been walking in a city street and someone's doing like, guess which? I like that at first you knew nothing about magic. And now you're like, are you familiar with street magic?
Starting point is 00:50:41 Because I know this thing about buskers. No, it's true. And then they have people that are working for them. That's your gambling upbringing, right? Yeah. He's real magic. What's the real magic? Stock market?
Starting point is 00:50:54 Yeah. Yeah. He's done well. No, he hasn't. He hasn't? No. I've never played the stock market. Never?
Starting point is 00:51:01 It's for gamblers. Yeah. I think that's a fair. Yeah. It's a gambling. Yeah. I think gambling in general is, yeah, terrible. But, you know, I have.
Starting point is 00:51:11 have a new finance guy and I just said what's what about him it's not Esther's dad wait are you okay so this is another actually important since you are so good with cards and you are like a known magician um do casinos um say you're not allowed to play um they probably would but i've never like i don't gamble like what are the rules around like magicians who are so savvy with the deck i think in Vegas maybe they care but it's more of like a public thing where magicians will say I can't go into casinos or you know more of an image thing I don't think anyone really has banned magicians from casinos I think those are two different things too I think that people that car counting but I'm saying because she is so familiar with a deck that she's lived and breathed that deck for since childhood I imagine that that's probably on par with someone who is able to card count I don't know I don't know it's just sounds like all of us are a little confused about what magicians do and don't do I don't think I am I think that was a fair question or to the questioning than you are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Because you went straight to Harry Potter. But you play poker? What? Nervous transition. You're getting the conversation back. Like recreationally? With friends, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Yeah. I mean, with money or no? I mean, it doesn't even have to be about money. No, it's just for fun. Yeah. It's like playing Jenga or whatever, you know? Yeah. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:52:31 That's not. Are you confused about what Jenga is? No, it's a block thing, right? Yeah. Yeah. I know what Jenga is? I hear your mind? Do you know what poker is then?
Starting point is 00:52:39 Yeah, it's a card game. Yeah, it's not the same. No, but it's just like there's no panic. Anyway, it's like, Uno or whatever, you're playing. Some people just do that way. No, poker is skill-based. Yeah. It's not like Uno.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Uno is skill-based. I won five games in a row. Really? Yeah, five games in a row I played Uno. And you think that means that it's skill-based. With five, six people, five games in a row in Uno is craft skill and determination. That's strategy. And strategy, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:02 So you don't think that people can be good at Uno. It's just the whatever you're at the mercy of the cards you get. Yeah. No, no, you play certain cards. certain times and then you also cause you blackmail people how do you blackmail people random person picks up five cards right and I'll look at the person and go if you tell me that I have to pick up five cards you're not going to get this oh that's how you won yeah yeah strong arm yeah yeah yeah but still I win with extortion no but they'll do stuff like this though even though I have the
Starting point is 00:53:33 most amount of cards they'll still add five to mine because I've been winning so much and you I don't like that. So then I have to use blackmail. If I have a lot of Uno cards and then there's an ad five and you're picking me just because I have a spite, I think that's wrong. And that's ethically immoral. Yeah, but do you feel good about winning if there is extortion involved? Yes.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Do you feel better? I don't feel better. I'm a survivor. Yeah, yeah. And the whole game is to survive. Right? Are you a survivor? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Sure. I have these weird bumps on my body on or would have. Let me see. like the karma for the extortion. You use karma? Might be. Oh, very Harry Potter of you. I have to say that.
Starting point is 00:54:16 I did go to Hogwarts. Maybe. I don't think so. You don't believe in karma? People don't understand what karma is, okay? Karma happens in your next life, not this life. So you're a bad person today. In your next life you get through Buddhism, reincarnation.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Your next life is going to be bad, right? So the life we're living now is in our personal. previous based on our previous life. Uh-huh. Right? So I have a great life right now. So I was pretty good guy. Do you know what our next life is going to look like?
Starting point is 00:54:45 You know what our next life is going to look like? I'm going to be a king on a throne. And I'm going to smash and like step on a cockroach and be like, bye, Bobby. That's what you? Yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you what you're. I'll be a king too.
Starting point is 00:54:58 Yeah. Right? You're against the wall with Esther. Right? And you guys have like dirty bandanas or covering the eye because of an infection. All right. You're wearing like clothes or drenched in your own blood. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:55:13 You got positive for a second. Right. I believe that this is my, if karma is real, this is my last life. Really? Because people that don't want children, right, and what likes to be alone a lot, they say that that's like a sign. You completed the final cycle. But it's hard for me to believe this is like enlightenment.
Starting point is 00:55:32 You know what I mean? Go on. Go on. See, everyone else quiet. He's just like, this is final form. This is like true enlightenment. And it's like, I just, if there are images in my mind of what that could look like, and you couldn't be farther away from that image.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Maybe it's your first life. I think so, maybe. A baby. No. You're saying that I haven't learned any lessons throughout my lifetimes. You have, but I'm saying that like, just because you don't want a baby, I don't think automatically makes you, like, you know, it ends with me. Like, let's no.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Well, I mean. Me too, by the way. I don't think it ends here. I think there's a couple, several lives after this because I am so far away from final, like that. And I'm not there. Yeah. I'm not there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:24 I don't think I'm there either. Yeah. I'll be honest. We're not there, Bobby. No way. Yeah. I think you're right. I think you're right.
Starting point is 00:56:29 Maybe she's there. I think she's already. Yeah. You look very normal. Maybe. Like, how do your parents feel about what you do? Since they're all in like business. and have like more serious careers.
Starting point is 00:56:39 They're supportive. I don't think they understand it, but they're like really supportive. And was there anyone in your family that like introduced it to you? Did you just pick it up on your own? No, just on my own when I was little. And I grew up seeing what they did,
Starting point is 00:56:50 like going to the office with them and seeing the same people do the same thing every day. And I wanted a life that was like the complete opposite. That's so cool. I love when there's like a serious family and some like offshoot of like, isn't that like Steve-o? Yeah. His dad was a CEO.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Really? And he goes as a kid. I want to go to a clown school. And he did. He went to clown college. His dad was a CEO. Is that why he goes by Steve O? That's a good point.
Starting point is 00:57:15 I think that's so cool. I think to go against the grain and to like have no like examples around you, but to be like this is a path I want to take. That's really cool. I also think that like when my, and I told my parents I wanted to do comedy, and my dad was like, you, you never, never going to make. You're not funny, nothing. You know, you.
Starting point is 00:57:38 No one going to watch. You know what? Yeah, yeah. I kill yourself. Shoot. Shoot. Yeah. Face.
Starting point is 00:57:46 Die. You're never going to. And now that gave me like, oh, I'll show you. Yeah. I'm going to try, you know. I like a little bit of resistance. Resistance. Because without it, you know, here's a thing.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Like I said before, I haven't sent it on this podcast. I believe I'm ugly. You really believe that? I do. Oh, that makes me so sad. Yeah. It's fine because it's like, I know I am. Oh, you don't know what it's like to be ugly, huh?
Starting point is 00:58:10 No, you don't know what's like to be ugly. I think that we can call ourselves ugly, but like to really believe it, is makes me. I think social standards of handsome. I don't hit those marks in terms of height. But ugly? It's you and me. We don't know. I don't think that I'm ugly.
Starting point is 00:58:26 I just think that like I'm cute. I relate to what you're saying. Yeah, you get it. Really like young hot women in comedy that are funny and charming. So you're stealing my thing again. But that's the thing. Yeah, yeah. My world dude.
Starting point is 00:58:38 I go, I'm ugly, you go, me too. I am. No, you can't do that. Why do you jump on my thing? Because I feel the same as you. Guys, sound off in the comments, who's uglier? They're in a competition to be the ugliest person alive. Sound off.
Starting point is 00:58:51 Who do you think's uglier? I don't know why I went on that tangent. Working at knowing that you didn't get anything based on your appearance. Yeah, I'm proud of myself. I mean, that's a good thing, you know. I grinded it out, you know, and I went through fire. But when you did find success, what did your dad say? then he was into it
Starting point is 00:59:08 he was really well he was on mad TV yeah he was a couple of sketches you know I was on a show and you had to buy him all the climados yeah we'd get him drunk and he would be on TV he would get residual checks that's amazing there was a scene where me Ike
Starting point is 00:59:21 my brother and my dad were naked in the bathtub taking a path together and it was my dad was laughing the whole time so cute and he was on TV watched himself on TV and that was back when TV was a thing yeah and my dad went home
Starting point is 00:59:36 and saw himself on Fox. This is an amazing thing. Did he like it? Was he like? Yeah, he was like, he couldn't believe, you know what I mean? You feel good about that?
Starting point is 00:59:45 I feel good about my dad saying, you're never going to make it. And then saying, and then like realizing that had done something. At that time, like when you finally did make it in Mad TV, was that the beginning of like a positive relationship with your dad? Yeah, he was,
Starting point is 01:00:03 he stopped drinking. He was far more, um, softer. Do you feel that there's a connection between you having to earn your dad's love like that and prove him wrong to like the kind of people you're attracted to and it has to be someone that's like you have to win them over because they're like too hot for you? I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Do you think that or no? Just let them. Wow, that was painful. No. No, no, no, no, because I don't think that anyone's too hot for me.
Starting point is 01:00:43 You're here, brother. Yeah. My current girlfriend's so nice. Yeah. I just want to be able to like accept that. Yeah. Because you were always in, we were always in conflict. Here's what else. And I'm like, it's kind of freeing to be in a relationship where it's like there's no conflict.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Right. Bobby and I lived in such like tumultuous households to where we conflate. Love with. Difficulty with love and something being worth it. And as it turns out, and even when we found each other, It was something very shiny and chaotic and a lot of like tension. And you can flate that tension with there must be something here that's worth like fighting for. And even though like I loved that decade long, I do think that him and I needed safe harbors.
Starting point is 01:01:23 And I think that his girlfriend now is so beautifully calm and wonderful and good for his nervous system in the same way that I describe a little bit. wants to really, we have the same thing of like, we want our alone time too. Yeah. Yeah, it's great. You're saying that like you guys grew up in chaos, but I don't feel that your relationship was chaotic. It's hard for Bobby to receive a calm love that he deserves. It's hard for him to see.
Starting point is 01:01:53 That's my sister. Yeah. It's hard for him to be like kindness, calmness, not chaotic, not aggressive, not Kalila being fucking blah, blah, bitchy or whatever. And for him to see that as like a true positive in his life. But you're not saying that you guys ever had like a toxic. You guys don't seem like a couple that was like fighting toxicly. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:13 We were BFFs. We had a couple of fights. Big ones. They were big. Yeah. But it turns out from our therapist, we needed more. We needed a fight more and we didn't. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Because we would shove things down. We'd shove it down and not bring. I didn't bring up any boundaries or work on my own issues. And I tried, but it was. She tried so hard. And I wish at times, our relationship is great but it's like I learned a lot from that one
Starting point is 01:02:38 and I was like okay I'm going to cut out these things for the next one that I do and it's setting boundaries also pornography and all these kind of things I don't do those things you really don't? I really don't know it's been amazing
Starting point is 01:02:50 you've quit porn Lexopro helps it's hard to get even an erection sorry Gabriela oh god yeah and you have to like you know I mean kill your own dick
Starting point is 01:03:01 let's go man You know, it's war time, Normandy. And then it's like, you know what I mean? And he's just like, he's the one that's sinking in the ocean. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you, you know, go, Bluchu, blue chew, right? And they get him up and he comes back out, you know.
Starting point is 01:03:19 Right, and then he falls again, bootchoo gold, bootch of gold. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because he adds a desire. It gives you desire. It's a great product. But so the Lexa Pro really devastated my, but it's a combination of, I don't want to do porn and like, you know what I mean.
Starting point is 01:03:34 And then Lexer Pro, you know, and I can get erect without anything, right? But it's getting to, you know what I mean, the claim, like the ending of the movie. Yeah, yeah. It's difficult. Yeah, it's like, this is like all three Lord of the Rings movies put together and it's like it never ends. How long have you been on Lexer Pro? Because it's, it gets better. Seven months?
Starting point is 01:03:52 Yeah. I'm on it too. Yeah. And I had like a transitional period with that. Well, I mean, it's not working. Please don't get off Lexer Pro. I'm on Lexer Pro. I know.
Starting point is 01:04:01 Please don't get off. I like you so much better on it. Yeah, yeah. But it's a little purple dead thing. Oh my gosh. It's Mitch McConnell. Oh. It's got tubes in it.
Starting point is 01:04:11 It's like, okay. And on that, no. Yeah, yeah. And on that, no. And Lexapro killed it. But I'd rather have sanity and peace of mind and stop the ruminating thoughts. Yeah. Then get an erection, you know, who cares, you know?
Starting point is 01:04:24 But you know, it's great. It's also, I've been very honest with her. Yeah. And I say stuff like, I don't think we're going to get there. I hope you remember I hope you come back to this I hope that when you're 38 I don't even be scared of these
Starting point is 01:04:36 She's they're great ladies Oh you think she's afraid of just Esther and I How do you How do you feel right now Gabriela and Lester? I feel good I feel I'm educated
Starting point is 01:04:50 Okay Do you have an Instagram And TikTok Where do we find you? Yeah It's my name online on everything Yeah Check her out
Starting point is 01:04:59 Follow her Support Magic The one thing that did die is ventriloquism. Yeah. Yeah. Because, yeah, like, I think the only famous one in my eyes is Willie Tyler and Lester. Do you know them? He's like a legend.
Starting point is 01:05:13 Yeah. Like, if you go into Ventrulikism convention. Yeah. You mean, people, everyone there knows, Willie Tyler and Lester. Well, that's more comedy than magic. But it's a little bit of magic. Yeah. Can you do it?
Starting point is 01:05:25 No. Oh, no. Holland. How on it? Can you do it? I think when I was younger, I can't do it. Can't do it in your arm. No.
Starting point is 01:05:32 No. Am I doing it though? No. No. I'm doing it right now. We gotta go. No, no, no. Can you do it?
Starting point is 01:05:44 Ventriloquism. Okay, that's it. Yeah. How about you? Yeah, who's better? Me or her? She is? Her bottom lip is moving.
Starting point is 01:05:56 I'm also paralyzed from Bells Balls. Oh yeah? The Bells Bells is out. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, it's a skill set. It is comedy too, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:03 In the rhythm of the like, you know, I mean, back and forth. But that is something that you're dead on that that has gone away. That's extinct. I don't know why, though. I feel like tap dancing has gone extinct too. That one dude killed it. Jeff Dunham. Oh, Jeff Donham is a bunch of request.
Starting point is 01:06:18 He's the most obvious one to me is Jeff Dunn. Yeah, he is the mainstream guy. Some of his character is like the skull guy. Yeah. But still comedy. Somebody's got to bring it back. Or the Tiquette or was it the bell pepper or whatever he had? Yeah, but they were all kind of slightly racist, right?
Starting point is 01:06:34 Yeah. Yeah, he was definitely a racist. The characters were right. The characters were very rough. Yeah. Oh, I guess that's, you know. That's what makes it funny is that the dummy says bad stuff. Yeah, yeah, it was always bad.
Starting point is 01:06:46 No, but he did it. He did a Al-Qaeda terrorist. He did, yeah. Yeah, as a puppet. What? What? What was the name? Yeah, Ahmed, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:55 It was on H-whatever, HBO or whatever, or whatever, showtime. He didn't ever watch Jeff Dunham? No, never. Watch Jeff Donnam. And Ahmed. It's so crazy. But people, and it's generally white people. I'm sorry about white people, but it's like, it's true.
Starting point is 01:07:12 It's so true. Yeah, fuck it, fuck that. Fuck that. That's our show, you guys. No, I'm not done. You got out of here. You have another vibe. Yeah, I got to go.
Starting point is 01:07:21 See you next week, guys. I'm going to be the
