I'm on Bobby's side again.
I get it.
I'm not going against his side.
And I love the Tiger Valley podcast.
And I'm honored to be a part of it.
What's wrong with the Trash Tuesday podcast?
And I'm honored to be here as well.
And if you hit somebody's car, I'll help you.
Okay.
Esther is anti-waving at your neighbor.
You said that.
Sort of me too.
You literally play the tapes.
I said it was situational for me.
I said that I do it and I enjoy it.
Well, the reason for me is because I once took a look at my next door.
app and saw who the fuck my neighbors were. I'm like, these people are fucking crazy. I will not be
waving. So what the next door app, you saw what their updates were about? It was just really
petty, like, Karen-y stuff. So I was like, I will not be saying hello to any of these people.
You can't judge someone at their next door. I will absolutely judge them by their next door behavior.
That's their at their worst. Well, because you think you'll be the subject of it if they know who you are.
Yes. And I know that this is when I was living with Bobby, my ex. We were, we, we, we, we, we,
were the subject.
Like it was tiny things like there's water leaking out of a drain.
Yes, that's where water would enter and exit sometimes.
It's like tiny little things like that.
But when I was living in Altadena, it was not like that.
So I was very like, hello neighbor.
Dude, Altadina was, well, it was so beautiful.
Yes.
I loved going there.
I fear for what it might be now since, you know,
there's a lot of newcomers, but we'll see.
We'll see how it shakes out.
introduce our show. Welcome to Trash Tuesday. We have, okay, so I know him because we acted
together in a TV series called Dollface and he played like the hot guy and I played the ugly
girl. And he's so prolific on TikTok and social media. He's just like an amazing human. Welcome
Luke Cook. Esther, Monster. Thank you. How to be here. And we couldn't do one Luke without another.
So welcome Luke Finkgo. Thank you. Just to confuse it a little bit.
He is a comedy store, Car Parker.
Yes.
And he's here today.
Thank you.
We're just, we're giving you a chance.
Thank you.
Thank you for the chance.
Honor to be here.
I'll keep my mouth shut.
Okay.
Wait, Luke.
Okay, there's so much discussed.
First of all, the thing I saw from you online last week that I was just like in tears.
I wish that, you know, you see a post and you're like, I wish I made that post?
you talking about taking care of socially awkward people.
Can you speak on that?
Can you reshare your heart's truth?
Yes.
So I believe that it is the responsibility of people with charisma to take care of people
who maybe don't have all that charisma,
who when you see them out and about, they're like,
this is hell.
I wish I wasn't here.
And you take them under your wing and you like,
you say it's great to see you because it is great to see them.
And you make them feel like, oh, wait, you're happy.
that I'm here and then they'll, you know, blossom
and I'll have the ability to have some fun
with somebody in the room at least,
and you relax them.
Do you feel like you have had social anxiety?
Is that why you have that point of view
so like unlock of what they need?
I think that I do have charisma,
but I am also, I fuck up socially all the time.
Like I say the wrong thing and I'm like,
I leave a place and I'm like, you idiot.
Do you ever like avoid a situation altogether
because you know you're bound to fuck up
or you stay for like five minutes,
minutes and you're like if I stay for seven I'm going to do or say something strange so I have a
limit I know that the more interactions I have the higher the chances yeah if I work on a movie set
or a TV set or something I'm like you have so many interactions in a day like I know I'm gonna
fuck up one of them and I'm gonna say the wrong thing or something offensive and I'm like oh my gosh
I hope I don't hear from HR about that I feel so you have no fear of this at all I just
think like we is this like a tall short girl like I'm I think as you're like a
strong man it's like you have to be so well represented in public but i'm just like a short
little female and like if i fuck up nobody's gonna remember or care there's like ew that little
rat was just here with bad breath like nobody i can just like do whatever i want do you have bad
breath don't just don't come close and you can decide but does that really how you think of yourself
kind of i mean i just think the comparison between someone like you and me like you walked in
here, you're so tall, you're so Australian. Like, I just feel like you have this responsibility
in the world that I don't carry. You're very visible. Very visible. And I think that's correct.
I think I do have a responsibility. I just think when you have a, okay, so like, I walk in here,
I'm tall. I'm wearing this bloody suit. It's like, people are going to like pay attention maybe
that I walk in. And so it's like, it's kind of my responsibility to go, like, is there a friend that
I can help out who's maybe not so, I don't know, you know, comfortable in this space right now?
That's how I feel in public with people who are, you know, not that comfortable socially.
Luke, how can we help you right now?
I'm comfortable.
I'm comfortable.
Socially, I'm fine.
I can relate to that.
I feel like it's sometimes fun also to like get like a very quiet person kind of riled up.
Exactly.
I like to stir them up and be like, oh, what's your thing?
And usually people come out of their shelf.
It's pretty good.
That is kindness, though, I feel.
But also, if you were to meet your exact replica of yourself as you walk in the door,
Are you magnetized to him?
Are you like, stay the fuck away from me?
I don't want to talk to that handsome, charming person.
Yeah, that's a really good question.
I think you always look to criticize somebody who's like, you know, that's what I look to do.
I'm like, what's wrong with you?
There's got to be something wrong with you.
And I like, you know, but then I always take the beta position like to an alpha.
I'm like, you want to be the alpha?
I'd love for you to be the alpha.
You know what I mean?
Someone who wants to be an alpha is clearly not an alpha.
Right.
That's also true.
Daddy?
Yeah, exactly.
I'm the alpha in this room, no big deal.
I really, and so I think that's what makes me maybe a very happy beta.
I'm really happy to be like, I don't want to be the guy.
Is this episode Oops, all beta?
No, because I'm an alpha.
So no, it's not.
Did you not hear him the first time?
Yeah, hello?
Do you even listen to me?
Break down immediately.
Esther, when we did our show, I have to tell you, because your love interest in the show, Jay,
I remember talking to him about, like, what's it like on the set?
Like, I have to know.
And he said, well, everyone's funny, except Esther is, like, really funny.
Oh, my gosh, that's so sweet.
But I think that that was, they're all, they all actually are funny.
Everyone is right.
But you are really, truly.
You're an outlier.
You're making me uncomfortable.
Thank you.
This is not what my ex-boyfriends would say.
So thank you so much.
Oh, see you, which thank you so much for sending me a photo of the ex-boyfriend you're obsessed with.
Oh!
She's been talking about this guy since I've known her for like a decade on every single episode.
High school.
She still drives by his home.
What?
What?
Is this allowed?
From whose perspective, wouldn't it?
Well, aren't you with somebody?
Yeah, sometimes I'll make him go with.
He's been in the car once.
That is insane.
And so does he understand that this is just an obsession that's not like you don't want to end in, you don't want it to end in sex or something like that?
Yeah, no, he, absolutely, if you saw the picture, no, I don't want it to end in sex.
But he understands that I'm just goofy and, like, hung up on a past.
It's my high school ex.
It's nostalgia, you know.
Does your ex understand?
Does his wife understand?
Oh, my gosh.
She's probably the one who has the real issues in all of this.
Sorry.
Did you make out?
Make out?
With who?
In high school?
Oh, well, yeah.
You dated?
Yeah.
Oh, that's nice.
You went all the way.
I'm not like crazy.
Oh, I didn't know what this, what the deal is.
Luke is like, did he ever know you?
He's your ex.
Well, what hangs you up on him exactly?
Is it emotional?
I can't believe.
The way that he was.
I have a theory about this.
Was it the lovemaking?
I think the theory I have is the way you were broken up with.
Then it was my high school ex and then the breakup was sudden.
He moved on really quickly with a coworker.
With first with a coworker and then with someone at a school.
And I think like it's just high school.
Like don't you guys have a high school X that you like think about?
For me it just said like you're so developmental at that time that it sets the tone for all future relationships.
Yeah.
Like somebody doing that to you is like, wow, I'm always open to be betrayed.
Like some.
I think so.
I think the wounds in high school are never quite like the wounds in adulthood are never that deep.
Like your first heartbreak in high school really, really cuts horribly deep.
Okay, so I think that part of the reason why, like, I had such a long time being hung up on this, too, is the closure element, which I have so many things to say.
Like, we need to talk about closure the whole time, basically. Everyone locked the doors.
So I never rock closure. But I have since learned since I've become an adult that you don't get closure from the other person. You can't expect it. Like, you're not entitled to it. But this is, like, coming up in conversation on TikTok lately because there's this, like, these influencers.
that were friends and how to falling out.
And one is like, is basically publicly like being like,
I think the most evil thing that you can do to someone is not give them closure.
My therapist said that that's a form of abuse.
Whoa.
I'm like,
there is an element to that that I understand.
And it's like when you leave it open and you continue to text or call or like,
you know, like maybe we should still sleep together.
Vangle a carrot.
Yeah.
It's like leave them alone.
You broke up with them.
leave them the fuck alone that's the closure you don't need to be but if you continue like do you want to
talk through it it's like cut it off stone cold go hard don't and leave them the hell alone but what if
like there's someone that is still my sister it's hung up on someone and she keeps going back to like
i didn't get closure and i keep being like closures you get closure from yourself you don't get it
from the other person and she feels like there's this like open she just she needs closure she's
expecting some big conversation that's like here's why it didn't work blah blah blah and i'm like
that's never going to happen certainly not from this person who is clearly played games with her her whole
life yeah to your point you're not going to get closure from someone who is in that case it's abusive
in that case he likes the whole you know up and down roller coaster of it all and he likes to conveniently
say hey let's get back together when he he feels her moving on right like that's that's abusive but do you feel
you guys have ever been in a situation where
a relationship or friendship ends and then there's no like maybe they cut you off or whatever
or ghosted and there was no no closure did you like were you hung up on it were you able to like
close it yourself i guess i closed it my i had to close it myself yeah i've done it to an ex where
i was like wanted to break up and was like wait did i want to break up and kind of was like going
back and calling or whatever and i was like and i remember just how cruel that was that was all
of shit with a smile on his face well it's it is the past like
I've been married for six years with three kids now.
So I can very much forgive myself for it.
But it was awful.
Wow.
Sometimes I feel like though it's like there are moments where it's like,
I don't know if the closure is like traditional like, oh, we're going to sit down and have a conversation.
I'm going to break down everything that happened.
Like when there's like a relationship where you've been together, been intimate for a long time,
but there's been like friendships or certain things where it's kind of just like, you know, people grow apart or things change.
And it's like, do you need to go in and be like, okay, this is the deal of why I,
I'm feeling differently about our friendship or even like co-workers or something where it's like,
oh, we were best friends at work, but now I don't work there anymore.
And yeah, we don't really talk as much.
And do I have to give you closure?
I wonder that type of person who requires closure and everything.
Like what exactly are they seeking?
And if they get that closure, do they feel some kind of like relief internal?
Or is it just something, another thing they're chasing?
Is it still a form of communication or contact that they're.
chasing. That's what I think. Yeah, because I've certainly been there where I'm like, I need closure,
but what I really wanted was just another chance to communicate, another hit of dopamine. Yeah.
And I needed to grow up to realize that, whoa, like, I was just chasing another time with this person.
And you don't want to be with somebody who doesn't want to be with you. Exactly. So that's the closure you
you need. Like, oh, this guy doesn't want to be with me. Then it's like, clear sign that you don't need closure.
Like, that's the closure. It's like he doesn't want to be with you. It's terrible.
That's the biggest ick, though.
Like, I can't imagine trying to chase someone I know isn't into me.
Like, I don't think I've ever done that in my life just because, like, that would turn me off.
Because I have to be the object of his absolute desire or else I'm like, what are we doing here?
Okay, I agree with you.
And that's, like, how I first always would look at the situation.
But then I realize, like, this tango, this dance that my sister has been in with this guy, it's like, there's clearly, like, the carrot.
dingle is so strong of like I'm just I don't know because she will not let me see her phone I even
tried to grab it and she like hit me but oh you need chill out on that too I was like literally did
do it do crap and she was like it hurt okay I another thing I want to talk about is your content is so
uplifting like I feel like you have such this like positive view and like you're always trying to
help others I think that's why when I saw your video about like helping socially awkward people I was
like this is Luke in a nutshell not you Luke sorry I didn't know I look at you no I can tell you're good too
I mean I'm not like that way look to look today you're Luke too you're Luke too that's fine oh that's
you awesome but I have been talking about this in therapy that I watch certain content that hurts me
like okay some that hurts me right like some that's like about just like sad subject but
some that's like people that I've fallen out with whatever it is and I'm
I'm like, why do I, I don't know why I do this. I don't want to still know this person.
Like I, and my therapist is like, I think it's like you're feeding your ego.
She kind of made this delineation for me. Like I watched some content to feed my ego and some
content to feed my soul, right? Like the soul would be like the uplifting stuff. And then the ego is
like checking in on people. I don't know. Do you guys do that? Am I? I think I want to, I think you
should offer yourself a little bit of grace though. And there is a self-protective measure about the
things that you do and why you still continue to check up on people that have hurt you.
I think that it's because you've been burned very deeply.
So as much as she's, I think that she's correct.
Like that obviously doesn't feed your soul.
And I think it just goes back into this like cycle of like not good stuff in your head.
But I think there's an element of like self preservation of wanting to keep track of
like your enemies.
Also, if that keeps you from driving to their actual house and physically checking up on them,
I think that's actually a good tool.
If you could just look at their Instagram
and be like, okay.
Do you want to feel something?
Like, is that a thing of yours?
Maybe.
What does that even mean, though?
Well, I think that your vibe that I've always got
having not known you very well,
but just seeing your content and knowing how funny you are,
there's an apathy that underlines it,
that underlines your work, not you, you are necessarily,
because I haven't known you who you are.
And so I'm wondering if maybe that apathy is like,
I'd like to feel something now.
Interesting. What do you think, Kalila? You do spend an awful lot of time at home alone.
So do you. I do. But I still have like external like nature hobbies. And I think that maybe
you are getting your external nature hobby feeling from the bad stuff. The feel, yeah.
Maybe. I think that's a really good point. There are some days admittedly where I'm like,
you know what, I want to feel some fucked up shit today. And like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like,
I do want to, it is, there is this weird distinction where it's like, I don't want to get back with these people.
I don't, whether it's any relationship, I don't want to see them.
I just want to, like, spy on them.
I think that's okay.
I think that's the best part of social media.
It's fantastic that you do that, and that's what everyone should be doing.
Check up on everyone you know.
You have access to all their stuff.
I check people's LinkedIn.
I'm like, did you get fired?
What are you up to?
It always hurts when they're doing really well.
That's what's a problem.
But we used to live in such closed communities.
I reckon it would have been normal to, like, gossip or find out what it's up to.
And now you can just go on do that immediately.
Wait, so you're moving to Australia.
Do you feel like the culture is going to be so different and amazing there?
Like, are you excited?
Wait, how long have you been in L.A.?
17 years.
Oh, my God.
Long time.
Nearly 18 now.
Have you always thought, okay, I am going to move back eventually?
Yeah, definitely.
It was always my plan.
But, you know, what's crazy is, and I'm not like a manifestation guy.
But like I had this plan that I would like come to LA, do it and then eventually like move back when I'd made it.
And I don't see myself having made it or anything like that.
But I do, it's funny to have written down that goal all those years ago and actually be doing it now.
Like actually like going back with my kids.
That's the dream.
Like that is what you've done.
And I'm just, I think I would give anything for an excuse to move to Australia next month.
Like can I be adopted by you?
Like the food is so much better there.
Yes, like you're small enough that you could fit in a carry on.
But I don't think that you need to be here anymore, like in the city.
Maybe actually stand-up comedians a little bit, hey.
We just need like a stage nearby.
And then you can live anywhere as long as there's a comedy club.
And like somebody wrote to me the other day, I'm like, oh my God, I'm so jealous.
Like maybe I should move.
And I'm like, dude, you're an actor who does like commercials.
Get a hell out of here.
You don't have to be here.
Like there was a, it used to be a reason to be, act has had to be in LA.
Do I have to be here?
If you, if she has to be here, then you.
Yeah.
You, I've always told you that I'm very supportive of you splitting time between here and your other home, Hawaii.
I'm thinking further.
I have been very strongly contemplating moving back to the Philippines.
Shut up.
Because I have a son now and it's just like, the way I grew up there was just vastly different.
And I feel very grateful for the kind of childhood that I have.
had there, the level of care and community and a kind of education. I went to an international
school. It was, it felt different. And I want my son to experience that kind of internationality
that I don't feel maybe it's here. I don't know yet because he's too young. Like I don't know
what school is like here now, but I, um, I have been strongly contemplating and move back to that
side. This podcast would be so different.
after you're moving Dave
Esther you're moving with us
I'll come that's fine
what do your kids think about moving
about Australia well they're only little
oh they're really get it but well my
my son who's five keeps talking
about it and he knows there's going to be snakes
yeah and he doesn't know what's about
to hit him but it's like we have
we've already started snake lessons
like what to do if you see a snake
like you stop and just move back
slowly right are you not supposed to run
from a snake you can run from a snake
that's fine but if you
The point is, let's just say you step over a log and there's a snake there, you just stop.
And you let it go away.
Okay.
It's not going to bother you if you don't bother it.
Even if you're right there, if you step over a snake and just stop, it'll just stop and then go away.
Really?
Yeah.
What will make it like come and bite you?
Is stepping on it or moving towards it or sudden movements.
But if you stay still, it's like, okay, cool, I'm going to get out of you now.
I get in this, my algorithm's just feeding me this stuff right now.
But you can see this woman stepping over this big brown snake in Australia, which is like a fairly dangerous snake.
And she just steps right over it and she stays.
And she's like, this snake will not bother me.
It could kill me.
But it will not bother me if I just stay still.
I feel like you would do that.
I've encountered enough snakes here in California on hikes.
You're right.
They are not out to bother you.
They're shy and they're trying to protect themselves and get away from you.
Wait, are snakes kind of hot?
Like, think about it.
Like, the face shape is, like, very, like, sexual.
It depends.
Like, are we talking vipers?
Are we talking, not all of the models?
Some of them have rounded, you know, features.
And just like you said, they're, like, shy but dangerous.
Yes.
They're all the ones with the big, like, they're the looks maxing ones.
Yeah, looks maxing, yeah, the clavicular.
I don't like the looks maxing snakes.
I just like, like, the slim.
Like the gopher snakes?
Like, because, you know, like, imagine, like, if you were, like, dating a
and then instead of like turning into a wolf,
you could turn into a snake.
I just feel like he'd be like slithering right there.
That's not hot.
This needs to be discussed in therapy.
This is like, what the fuck.
Our snakes hot.
I see your point.
There's something there.
Yeah.
Isn't there a distinction between like it's like everyone is either a,
like it's like a toad or a something else, like a cat.
Oh.
Yeah.
There are a cat looking people in there and there and there are like,
I think there's a one with it's like toad or something.
I'm bad.
It's like it runs between the two.
You're definitely cat-like.
I'm cat-like.
And I know I'm a toad.
I know.
I think you're a rat.
You're not a toad.
You're a rat.
Thank you.
I think the snake is cat.
I think you think snakes are cats.
Like you think the beauty of the snake is the cat that kind of like pulled back.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The snake is like chiseled.
Right.
And slippery and, you know, snakes are cool.
I'll give you that.
They're also kind of like baby.
Because babies are like they can't.
I don't know.
What I love about snakes is they're actually very like,
they can sense everything about you,
the warmth of your body approaching.
Like they're incredible creatures.
I had snakes when I was younger.
What?
I had a red tail boa and they know their people.
Like they, my snake, Jerry, did not want to be.
Oh my god, this is so crazy.
You remember my snake's story with a noodle.
I mean, we're not going to get into that now, but he did not want to be on any other body,
but my sister and my body was like warm women.
Men was not like his vibe.
Did you breastfeed him?
I breastfed him, yeah.
I did, yeah.
Wait, you brought up, you said that you wanted to talk about breastfeeding today.
No, I didn't.
But I, right before, I do.
Well, because you are breastfeeding right now.
Yeah, we both are.
Oh, amazing.
How's the journey?
I'm going a little long, but.
Okay, wait, can I call you?
out on something. So funny. So her niece
babysits for both of us.
Jules was over and Jules was like,
oh, Ati Kalai. She said like your mom brought up that
in some countries they breastfeed till age seven.
Yeah. And she's like, Atta Kalai was like, I
wouldn't mind. It's not that I wouldn't mind. It's just
that it's this. I realize that
breastfeeding is such a hack to everything. If
If he's upset.
It is the lazy girl.
If he's just even having a feeling of sorts, it's like it, we haven't had major meltdowns
because it's like, here, brother, have some milk.
Well, that's the immunity thing.
Like if he's getting sick, your breast milk naturally reacts to that.
And I love that.
It's just that immediately he can tell me what he needs and my antibodies are going
an overdrive.
Well, I just want to say when Jules told me that, we were like laughing at you.
But in my head, I'm literally like low-key.
same like I know I feel like you might go longer than me I don't know I don't know I wait so what did you have
some are you breastfeeding my wife is breastfeeding and the other night she comes down because the
the baby was fussing before sleep and she was like she comes down after putting him back down
breastfeeding and putting him back down she goes just like all man put a tit in their mouth and they'll
I've literally had that thought as well she's not wrong did you have mastitis at all have you
I did have it once and it was very, very painful.
And it like was really weird.
You haven't had it.
No, you play with fire.
I don't.
I'm like every three hours.
I wake up in a middle of night.
I do the pump because I'm too paranoid of just that dealing with mastitis.
My wife had it and the first the first time and the way her boobs blew up.
Oh my gosh.
It was like the most incredible porn star tits that were the angriest.
as well. Like it was crazy. She shows everyone
the picture. Like it's truly insane. The mastitis
picture? Yeah, because they just blew up
like and she never had big boobs
before but they just like with these enormous
angry looking boobs.
Luke, do you have anything to say about this?
Sounds awesome. I'm definitely going to look into this.
Seems pretty sick.
Luke, you have a smiling face.
A smiling face? Yeah, have you heard that before?
No. You have like a naturally smiling face.
Frank Sinatra
had a song, Oh, Nancy. I think it was about his
daughter with the smiling face what the fuck i'm not a daughter though i'm a strong alpha man you're
you got a nice smiling face it's a positive thing thank you i'm glad i'm i'm in the right business i guess
what's your relationship with breastfeeding were you but do you know if you're a breastfed um i
try to breastfeed as much as i can um i think i was breast yeah i was breastfed i think i
don't think i was a bottle baby do you remember it well i was going to say luckily i don't remember it which i
I think it means it wrapped up it the perfect time.
I think if you do, you're like, I remember the last day that I was breastfed.
Wait, do you remember?
I have a memory of breast.
I was breastfed until I was three and a half because my mom has problems.
And I do have memories.
But they're not, it's not like I remember the last day.
It's more just like I can like visualize it or something.
Like I can remember being on the couch.
And I do, he brings up a good point that if our sons remember breastfeeding,
that's like not going to be great.
I had a pacifier for a long time.
I was a big binkie, binky baby for so long.
I totally remember having a pacifier for way too long.
Oh, really?
I had a ducky and naughty. So it was like a dummy and my mom's silky nighty and I had it till I was four.
A silky nighty that is.
Wait.
It was like a blanket attached.
It's like what she would maybe wear to bed.
Oh my God.
Like she parted with it because I would always want to like suck the nighty and like smell it.
Oh my gosh.
It was my like lovey.
That's so sweet.
But it was your mom's 90.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, I'm so into that.
That's so sweet.
But don't they say that?
Like if, like, moms have to go back to work, they leave their clothing with a baby, with a sitter or with a family member.
So that baby's like, okay, mom's close by.
That makes sense.
That's so sweet.
I feel like my son, like, you know, they say like, oh, if you have the milk, like, they smell it on you.
I feel like he doesn't give a shit.
He, like, plays hard to get with my milk.
He's like, I like take it or leave it sometimes.
I don't know.
He'll figure him out later.
So you're not gave him any solids or any other foods.
No, no.
Oh, wow, that's interesting.
No, it's just sometimes he's just like, doesn't, he's like, I don't need you.
Like, I need you.
You're my husband now.
This does seem like it's going to become an issue, but we'll revisit later.
You're my husband now.
You're like my little snake.
I love you.
Wait, Kalila, what is the pro-sociality paradox?
It's exactly what Luke was talking about.
earlier about being the person in the room and doing like an act of kindness to someone
who you know might be struggling in that moment.
But the paradox is that we actually as human beings, there have been studies about this,
we hold ourselves back a lot from doing nice things for people, not because we don't want
to do them, but because we fear the reaction of that nice thing.
And the level of happiness that we experience as a community actually rises by like tenfold.
if we all did nice things for each other, like both the recipient and a giver,
but we hold ourselves back all the time.
Like it's part of our human nature to fear the outcome of that nice thing.
I fully feel like I relate to that.
And that's why I'm selfish because I'm scared.
No, I just, I feel like, I don't know.
Like, you don't know if someone's going to be like, ew, don't talk to me.
Well, one of the examples that this person gave was basically like this man who had,
who was friends with this woman for a very long time,
even went to her wedding. A couple years down the road, he finds out through, I don't know, social
media or something that she was going through like a very difficult divorce, they had kids or
whatever. And then it just so happens that he was in her small town, like driving past. And instead
of reaching out and saying like, hey, how are you doing? Like, is everything okay? He feared that her
reaction would be like, how do you know about the divorce? Who's talking about me? That happens every
day, I think, to all of us where we just hold back an act of kindness. I would love an awareness.
because at least even for myself where I'm like,
am I holding back?
Because I would love to just show that act of kindness
and not be afraid.
It does feel like an act of kindness
comes from a place of confidence.
Like you can't be insecure and like drop off a gift.
Because in my mind I'm like, oh, they're going to not like it
and they're going to like think I'm creepy.
There's one time though where I thought Esther like it's about the guy.
They're going to think I'm weird for driving up to his house
and checking it on him and giving him a gift.
But this is coming from her because I have seen someone physically hand a gift to her to Esther
and just be like, hey Esther, here's some like merch of mine.
And she was like, no thanks.
I'm never going to wear it.
But she said it kindly.
She was like, I know.
She's like, I know it sounds weird, but like I'm just never going to wear it.
So like, no thanks.
Can I defend myself?
I was like, I was in the room.
I was like, I got to get out of here.
It's because like, okay, I get that.
I understand looking back like maybe.
that seems rude, but it's, for me, it's like, oh, like, when I have had merch, it's,
like, expensive.
And, like, if you're not going to wear it and you take it, bitch, don't take it.
Like, you know what I mean?
Agreed.
I find it wasteful.
Like, I'm like, somebody, people ride to me all the time.
Like, can I send you my book?
And I'm like, honestly, no.
Because it's a big thing to read a book.
Yeah.
It's like, I don't want to read your book.
Like, I know you.
And I don't want to waste it.
I don't want to waste it.
I don't want to waste the book.
It's going to be sitting on my shelf.
No one will ever read it.
It's a huge waste.
Like a merch thing is like, I'm not going to wear that.
That's a waste of this thing.
I relate to this feeling way more than, oh, I'm so scared to do this kind thing.
I feel like most of the time it's usually like, yeah, I don't really want to read your fucking book.
Thanks, though.
I'm not scared.
But I think on that, I think it's the opposite.
I think we're actually scared of asking for help in the first place, which would enable the kindness.
So, you know, one of the best things they say about, you know, with your neighbor, ask, ask them for sugar.
don't wait for them to ask you for sugar.
One of the best ways to establish that relationship is to ask them for a favor.
But we're more afraid of that, I think, than doing the kindness.
In my opinion, I'm like, I should ask for help because people would love to give it.
I think so.
I think that I love when people ask me for anything.
It's like it would be my honor.
I feel that an instant connection with you, if I'm like, how can I help you?
Of course.
Of course have my sugar.
That is a really good point.
I'm going to start asking everything from everyone.
You should.
Because you know I do, and I do feel like I'm well liked for it.
I'm not afraid to ask for the sugar.
And I do feel like it's received really well.
And when it isn't, it's scary, but I can take that.
There was a viral post about AI in this regard.
And it was like, yeah, don't ask your friend, you know, don't ask AI for, you know, where to walk in Seattle and the great hikes around that area.
when your friend is right there who would absolutely love to talk to you,
who knows all the hikes.
And so we're going to AI when we would usually go to friends to ask for help
with some advice or like things that they may know about.
We're going to AI to this computer.
And there's no relationship established when you do that.
And also this has been a thing long before AI because people,
I've had friends where I ask some things and they're like,
if you can Google this, don't ask me.
And I'm like, I don't want to Google it.
Like, I want you to tell me.
Like I so believe in that
It's situational for me
Because last week a friend asked me
About a meat market
A specific Asian meat market
I was having a bad day
My plate was full
Feeling overwhelmed
And I got thoroughly annoyed
And I thought to myself
Had he just asked this question
The day after when I was doing nothing
I would have been like
Let me tell you all about chuns
You know or this meat market
Or this meat market
But it's like
I think that I flip flop on it
And I'm embarrassed
Because sometimes I'm like
please ask me. And other times I'm like, don't you fucking ask me a thing.
Well, is that your area, a niche of yours is like Asian food stores?
Do you know to come to you for that?
Yeah, I think that yes. Yes. And it was a very valid question. And any other day, I think I would
have been like, of course, I'm the expert at this. And I just wasn't the expert that day because
I was just, my plate was full. Wait, you know, it's crazy. So I flew this weekend with my baby.
and TSA, I get really, really irritated at them
when they start messing with your baby stuff, right?
So, like, I went through and I was wearing my baby carrier.
I had the stroller and my water, you know,
which actually was for me,
but you can get it through if you say it's for the baby.
I was going to say first red flag.
I'm so annoyed at TSA for messing with my baby stuff.
I have this huge jug of water.
That's the one right there.
Okay.
But so she comes after me.
She's like,
I said you could only walk through the carrier if the baby was in it.
I need to check it again.
And I thought I just go, there's three of them.
And I'm like, you guys all must think this is ridiculous, right?
Like, this is crazy.
Like, that's the water and like, at my baby.
And they actually didn't get nasty at all.
They were, they kind of like own my ass because they were like, you'd be so surprised.
I'm like, tell me.
They're like, well, just last week we found a machete and a stroller.
Oh, my God.
And they said that people will have a taser.
in the baby carrier.
I'm like, wait, how is this one of the news?
I'm like, did those people get to fly?
They're like, no, like, we call the police.
And they have said, too, that, like, with the water,
that people will put, like, gasoline.
Oh, my gosh.
Insane.
Isn't that crazy that, like, happens, right?
What are these people doing?
Why are they still trying to, I don't know.
It's kind of, honestly, and this might be a crazy take.
It's kind of hack at this point to be trying to go onto the plane with all this shit.
Like, can we, can you move, Pat?
Why are you trying to get on the plane with a taser?
You really think, do people ever make it through?
It feels like they get stopped every time.
Well, what are they going to do?
Actually, I think they probably do make it through.
And it's just that one random time that they get stopped.
Because when I was touring, all of us, I had gone on so many flights.
And then all of a sudden, I got like flags.
I didn't know what was going on.
And there was a pocket knife in my purse that had been there for like tons of other cities.
Yeah.
That they just, I was like, that's really scary.
Although I really do relate to the mom with a taser and the carrier.
because the level of postpartum anxiety that I had.
That was you.
Like, it was the macheteen and the teaser were me.
So you're seeing those people aren't criminals.
They're just mothers with postpartum anxiety.
They're just postpartum.
Their mind is really just on alert, guys.
Like, please forgive them.
It's something that you take out with you all the time.
Like those, can you take through those sprays?
Pepper spray.
Can you take them through?
I don't think so.
No way.
Because they're as common as anything.
Like, they're on your keychain and they're there to stay, right?
You can't bring them in, like at the club, at the comedy store I work,
you can't bring them in.
pepper spray and they'll take. Why? They're afraid you're going to pepper spray somebody, I think.
You're going to get drunk or get mad and pepper spray someone. You can't bring weapons.
That feels like a misogynist rule.
I mean, we're, especially at a comedy club, I would bring a pepper spray.
Yeah. Of all places to bring a pepper spray ladies, it's at a comedy club. Do you guys?
Really? Do you find the clientele to be rough? Not the clientele, the comics.
Oh, to be rough to the women in the audience? Just male comedians in general.
Right. You just want to protect yourself in any way you can. Yeah.
Do you guys pat people down?
Like, how do you find it?
I don't pat people down.
They, the security guard wands people with like one of those metal, like, beeper
wands and, like, they'll be like pocket knives and other things.
Also, people are normally pretty open about it.
They're like, oh, I have a knife.
And they're like, okay, you can go put in your car.
I want one night work the wand shift at the comedy store.
What's with American men and knives?
You know, they always have a knife.
People love knives.
I know.
Explain that to me.
They love of knives.
I don't know.
When I was in high school, when I thought I was like a badass, I got a knife.
and I was like so hyped about it.
And then you kind of think to yourself,
like, am I prepared to stab somebody?
I'm 14.
I don't know.
Honestly, it's pretty hard for me to get the knife closed
once I open it.
So I don't know.
I guess it's like, I guess knife people would say it's a utility
of like, oh, yeah, let me get that open for you.
The knife, ch-ch.
But I mean, it's like a Dragon Ball Z.
I don't know how much utility there really is
and a lot of these things people are carrying around.
Yeah, I've noticed that American men
often have one just in case.
Yeah.
And I'm like daily carry a knife.
Well, I feel like it's like a night with a sword back in the day.
True.
True.
True.
Do you have a knife on you right now?
Not on me, but I always have a little knife.
Yeah.
Okay, there you go.
You master, for being so tiny, I wish you'd like carry like a crow bar or something.
How do you know, I don't?
A crow bar.
A crow bar.
Or like a mini baseball bat, you know, something.
Yeah.
I worry about you.
I know.
I need to learn how to shoot a gun at some point.
I have a cut.
cousin who's a SWAT team member who said he'll teach me.
So that's like on my to-do list.
Maybe start small with a pepper spray or a taser.
I don't know jumping to gun so quickly.
Jumping to SWAT team member.
Okay, so you guys know I'm a new mom and I have a toddler.
I realize just how much I care about getting good sleep because when you're co-sleeping,
especially with a toddler, a good mattress really matters.
I need something that's comfortable but also very supportive,
especially when there's a tiny human somehow taking up 90% of the bed.
And that's why I love my Helix mattress.
And with Helix, it's really easy.
You take a quiz and they match you with a perfect mattress made for the type of sleeper that you are.
For example, I'm a side sleeper, but I also run hot.
So I got matched with a midnight mattress, but then I decided to upgrade to the luxe version of that.
So it's a little bit thicker and a little bit more luxurious.

Luke, do you have any more gossip you can tell us now?
We're going to ask you every time until you give us a comedy store gossip.
Oh, yeah, I do.
You do.
Yeah, I know.
Should I not talk about it, though?
I think you should talk about it because I feel like you should have everyone way in here.
Luke is in the middle of a very serious comedy store dilemma.
That involves my ex.
What?
But can you give us a background of like what exactly you do at the lot?
So the comedy store, everyone who works there who's like door guys, it's like,
door guys. It's like a comedian
development program where I had all like audition
and it was like a really long process. He parks the
cars. Don't listen to this. And then you
then you just work there. You take the trash
out and check people's tickets.
That's what it is like you have to audition.
So everyone who works there is a comedian.
But you need to do the jobs that like you know make the
store function. So one of the jobs is doing
the valet basically and parking all the cars in this
like really tight parking lot.
And you know I've never worked valet in my life.
I don't know how
a lot of cars work. I'm not really a car
Parker guy and you know sometimes some shit goes wrong in there and there's been a lot of
moments one of the door guys um hit uh there's a comedian who drives like an eight hundred thousand
dollar rolls royce he scraped it there's like a lot of yeah um there's a lot of um no he was actually
super nice about it um but what i think his cause was tim dylan tim dylan he drives rose royce yeah
yeah is that where we're at yeah he's very successful podcast i know he's successful i just didn't know
like that level recently
the other day in the lot
it's super slammed I'm like parking all these cars
there's like areas in the lot where you have to go to like park
whatever I'm like away from the lot parking a different car
and I come back there
there's a car that has a huge dent in the bumper
not huge but like it's dented it's visibly dented in the bumper
and they're like oh do you see this and I'm like
what I'm about to get killed by this comedian
who's someone who I respect and he's going to kill me
and I'm told that it
that Bobby Lee is the one who came
and smashed into the car
and then drove away.
Whose car did he dent?
Rick Ingram.
Rick Ingram.
But the dilemma for Luke is that
Bobby has taken him under his wing
and has brought him on to our podcast,
Tiger Belly.
Bobby expects 100% loyalty
to not rat him out.
Which I am loyal
and I would never do that.
And I'm very honored
to be on the Tiger Valley podcast, and I hope that it continues.
So how did you find out that it was Bobby?
Somebody already sold it.
Someone just walked right up to me and was like, yeah, Bobby hit the car and left.
And I was like, what?
I was like, what the fuck do I do?
And people were like, I don't know.
And it was like a panic of what is the protocol here.
I ended up doing something that they did not appreciate, which was buffing out the
dent and like fixing the dent, which they did not like.
It was very frowned upon to do that
Oh yeah
The comedy store didn't like it
No the comedy store didn't like it
Rick whose car was hit did not like it
Why is that bad? Insurance
You don't have a picture of it
Also Rick is just comes out
Rick is told by another party
Not me they just go up to him and are like
Yo Bobby Lee just hit your car and left
And Rick is like what the fuck
You guys just let him leave what the hell
Then he's like where's the dent and it's like
Don't worry we fix the dent
So he's like what are you talking about
Bobby is like, did you or did you not rat me out?
Yes, he's pressing me, which I did not do.
So I'm not worried about that.
I did not rat him out.
But honestly, I feel guilty kind of for Rick that I'm like not ratting out Bobby.
But it all happened like when I wasn't there.
Like I wasn't present for that exact moment.
So I think it spiraled out of control pretty quickly.
So it's like an almost famous kind of story.
Yeah, it kind of does.
It's like, you know, the guy you respect and the guy who's helping you out does something wrong and you've got a cover for it.
Yes, exactly.
And so it was so funny because, like, I'm dealing with this huge issue.
I'm freaking out.
I don't know, you know, people are calling Bobby.
The management finds out and they check the cameras and they literally just turn on the camera.
And I haven't seen the footage, but I'm told they literally just watch Bobby's car drive.
And then he puts it in reverse.
And it just keeps going.
Drives away.
He alleges that he thought it was a dumpster that he hit.
Also, bumpers, bumpers are made for that.
And they call bumpers.
Hey, I agree with this,
yeah, by the way.
Cars are meant to be beaten up.
That's their transportation.
They don't need to look perfect.
I agree.
A little tap.
So for instance, like in the,
I don't know, back in the day,
like 10 years ago, the way that was,
if you came to a stop and you needed help,
you would get pushed, like from the,
from the back by another car.
Like, it's like, wasn't like,
oh, you're hitting me.
It's like, you're pushing,
you're pushing the other car.
Like, but bumpers are literally made for this.
See, you're a good lawyer.
You're in the suit, too.
We need to get you to back bobby.
Bring look to the comedy store.
Yes, exactly.
My friend who, I don't know if this is true, I would ask Dave, but he was, he lived in Boston.
And he was like, we literally tap bumpers all day because parking in certain areas is such a situation.
It's like, that's when you know, like, these are what bumpers are for.
We go bump, bump, bump, so we know spatially where we're at.
Yep.
So I'm like, yeah, like let's bring back shitty bumpers.
Like, who cares?
Yeah.
And, you know.
I think, you know, I'm on Bobby's side again.
I get it.
I'm not, I'm not a.
going against his side and I love the Tiger Valley podcast and I'm honored to be part of it.
I'm against him.
What's wrong with the Trash Tuesday podcast?
And I'm honored to be here as well.
And if you hit somebody's car, I'll help you.
Okay.
Which very well could happen.
I like Bobby's excuse, but he didn't want to go down the ideological.
That's what bumpers are for.
Yeah, I mean, you don't even want to hear what Bobby says about all of this.
What?
His thing is, if you're a comic at a comedy store, you're making enough money.
like deal with him. He is the
fucking richest one there. He should buy everyone
a car there then. But his thing is just like
if you're if someone is
making over X amount like
we're not going to be discussing bumpers buddy
right is what his whole thing is. I mean
I kind of I kind of agree
I do understand like I think
I don't think Rick whose car
got hit was like I need this money
and how am I going to afford to fix this? I think
he was mostly his feelings were hurt that
yeah that's I can see that. No one really stood up for him
oh no no one really back
him up his side it was kind of just I mean honestly for a lot of people it was like funny
that it was like oh shit your car just got it like you're fucked and for me he has a 1913 well
maybe I shouldn't say yeah so Luke I really do feel for you I think you were putting a really
tough spot yes I was so stressed I was freaking out like I have no idea how to play it people are
upset I'm not involved I didn't do any of this but obviously I'm working so people are asking me all
these questions and I'm not answering I'm a steel trap out of you
Never let that slide.
But Bobby called me the next day.
I was like, yo, like, what's up?
And he's like, did you rat on me?
And I just felt my whole career flashed before my eyes.
Like, no way, this is how I go down.
It's never good when Bobby calls you in the daytime.
No, it's not.
It's so scary.
The man doesn't wake up before 4 p.m.
No.
You're getting a call before that.
It's serious.
What's happening in his lot?
Like, what is he just, he does the comedy routes and then does he party after that?
What happens in?
He doesn't party.
He's like stone cold sober.
Okay.
He goes home and he plays.
on Star Dew Valley.
Okay, okay.
Yeah, which is like a simulation game
of farming and fishing
and building homes.
None of these things he...
Yeah, he has no interest
in doing these things in real life,
but he knows what a sturgeon is.
I'm like, how the fuck do you know?
Because I'm a spearfisher person.
I spear fish, and he knows all of these
variety of fish.
And I'm like, how the fuck do you know this?
And it's from Star Dew Valley.
He knows the plants.
He knows the kind of timber,
the kind of...
I'm like, apply this to real life.
sir. And do it in the day.
In the day. There's all these daytime
activities that he's playing on a computer at night.
I know. He's farming at night.
I've noticed that you're
very healthy.
Can you tell me and Kalila
how to lose weight?
That's not GLP1
or peptide related.
Yeah. Oh my God. Yeah. But protein
forward. Like what help us?
Protein
is really good at satiating you,
filling you up, but boosts GLP1 naturally.
in your body. So like eating a high protein diet is a good idea. Because you're like a protein expert,
right? I am. I have my own protein company. It's called shake while it's a fresh protein shake.
It's like really good ingredients and it's premium. Like it's a bit more expensive than the regular
muscle milks or whatever. What makes it good? Like why do we want it? It's organic way isolate. So it's like
really well like from California from a really nice family farm in northern California. And then
fresh way like we're the only shake to use fresh way as our base. Most shakes use like. Most shakes use
like water or they use like the worst milk that you can possibly get that's like the most highly
processed processed processed to a really high temperature we use fresh way which is basically like an
electrolyte when you make cheese like the the milk curdles and casein and fat becomes cheese and
everything else is fresh way and we use that as the basis for our drink and we add way isolate to
it organic way isolate and then we flavor it with fruit juices so it's very like very healthy and
And we also sweetened with the thing called organic alulose.
Alulose is like a...
I like alilose.
Yeah, that also boosts gilpy one in the body.
So it's just a, it's like a great meal replacement or snack that fills you up and makes you feel like you don't need to go on snack all the time.
Is your wife also experiencing like breastfeeding?
Extreme thirst and hunger and fat.
Stay in there when it shouldn't.
She's one of those really annoying people who looks good all the fucking time.
Of course.
Why did I ask?
It frustrates even me because she'll talk to me about like,
I don't look good.
I'm like, you always look the same level of good, all the bloody time with no effort.
You can't trust him because he's in love with her.
That's true.
We had this thing where our partners take really bad pictures of us and it's like they don't realize it because they love us.
So maybe your wife is actually really grotesque.
There's a good chance.
But maybe your own view of the photo is wrong.
Oh, no, it's not.
We reviewed the photos.
It's not.
I have actually showed the photo to everyone in the room and they're shocked.
Right.
I've spent an entire lifetime worrying about the tiny details of how I look because I felt like, oh, I would be unattractive or not desirable, whatever.
I now believe that it doesn't fucking matter.
It really doesn't matter, especially for you guys.
Some of the artists, like honestly, the sweatpants, the casual look, you know?
But I think it's the same for us too.
Yeah.
You don't really need to worry about your appearance as much as like if you're a good guy.
I think so.
Oh, true.
Yeah.
Oh, so true.
Sure. But I feel like historically, that shows up evidently, I think, when we look around.
Like, for me, like, I put so much weight in your, like, your insights matter.
Yes. And I think that's good because you're conceiving, you know, if you were to conceive
with somebody who's maybe not incredibly great looking, looks like a troll, but is a great person,
you're carrying on the genes of a great person.
Yeah.
And that's good.
You know, you see these supermodels with, you know, the heads of these tech companies.
And these heads of the tech companies are like, you know, not good, not good looking fellas, but they have a huge, big, beautiful brains.
Their genetics will be carried on.
I don't think anyone's ever called tech.
Yeah.
Tech giants, beautiful brains.
They are, but they just need to be kept in line.
Yeah.
Like they need friends.
Like, you need bullies in tech companies.
That's true.
That's a great idea, actually.
The artists need some, like, bro, the Snapchat.
glasses. Did you see the Snapchat glasses?
He needs a guy like,
that's so fucking dumb.
Yeah, yeah. He needs to get slammed into a locker
and they snap his glasses like, you're
fucking idiot. They need no men.
I think they're surrounded
because they are so rich and successful. They have all these
yes men. They need you.
They need a lot of naysayers.
And they're like, that's fucking dumb, bro.
Don't do it. Yeah, Zuckerberg
needs to get hit.
What about how he knows how to hit now?
What about how he's like... Yeah, he's been training. You haven't seen
that he's all into mima now so lame to get into it later
little dork it is good that he is like somewhat fit now like it's probably good for a
person like that to be in shape rather than to not be in shape it'll make them less evil you
think i hate that i hate it i think if you're a tech guy it's like bro like what you said
stay in your lane stay in line you're a nerdy tech guy i don't want mark zuckerberg to be
jacked like what the fuck right then he'd be a megalomaniac yes i go now you're good at what
bullies used to do.
Yeah. Elon Musk is fixing his hairline and Jeff
Basos is getting lip filler. It's like, bro,
just stop. Isn't it funny that like
they get so far and at the end
all they really wanted was to
like look like a cool guy.
It's like if they had just looked good in the
beginning, we'd all be reading
the newspaper tomorrow morning.
Like they had to fuck it up just so
that they could find a way to look hot. It doesn't
work. You don't look hot.
I do think I would need like a billion
though in order to confidently put on a cowboy hat.
Unless I'm 6'5 like you, I don't think I can just pop on a cowboy hat.
Wait, but Luke B, you're on your looks-maxing journey.
Yeah, I'm trying to look-max.
Everyone's trying to look-smaxing.
Like, what have you done so far?
Go to the gym, get absolutely yoked.
Collagen.
Wait, collagen?
Cologian doesn't really work.
I know.
I haven't found it, but that's because ingested collagen doesn't make sense to me at all.
Yeah.
Because it's like it's just broken down by your stomach out.
How is that going to be reabsorbed into where it needs to go?
Well, so for your skin and hair that everyone talks about and your nails,
I doubt that collagen is doing a whole bunch of that.
But it can be good for your gut.
It's really high in glycine, which can help you regulate your temperature and help you get to sleep.
So it is good for things.
I wouldn't say that it's really going to help you with your muscle
or the thing that you hope that it's going to help you with,
which is your skin and stuff like that.
Okay, what about sauerkraut?
Love sauerkraut.
Sick.
Solid.
What about creatine?
Cretein's good stuff.
I think it's over, overrated at this point, the way that people will yelp on about it.
It can help you cognitively if you haven't slept properly.
And it can help you do an extra few reps on top of the reps that you already do.
I definitely feel that I use that because I don't drink caffeine.
I don't drink anything else.
But the creatine gives me that extra.
Okay, I can work out properly.
Yeah.
Yep.
So that's good stuff.
It's just not everything.
Like I focus on protein.
overcreating. I'd focus on protein over collagen. It's not bad. I'm just telling you.
Like, it may not be doing. Check back in the year. We'll see where we're at.
Please honestly, just take collagen and no protein. Just see what happens. No, I've been trying to
do all that. It's hard, though, because so much of that stuff, I'm always caught, because
what do you think about this? Because, like, I like, I like, you're saying, like, your protein thing
is, like, all natural stuff. Because, like, I'll be, when I was, like, starting to work out a lot,
I would, you know, drink muscle milk or drink, like, you know, it's whatever these, like, protein
bars or certain things and then I just felt so sick and like so bad and even like brain fog and
certain things where you start to look at some of these supplements and stuff and there's like
lead and arsenic and like so many things in it that it's like okay I'm completely off and I've
tried to switch to just like whole foods or like really clean sources of like protein because they
they do do what they're going to do they're going to deliver you protein yeah but they're going to
give you a whole bunch of other shit alongside it that isn't great for you and preservatives and
that are pumped and gums that are pumped into these things that disrupt the gut completely yeah and also
So you're telling me that that muscle milk on a shelf can last for two years.
Yeah.
And then I can just drink it?
Yeah.
What the fuck does it do to me?
Of course.
That's my question about those preservative laden like things.
Yeah.
That's terrible for you.
It's insane.
Yeah.
So I try to do the sardine thing.
I can't really get into it.
What do you mean the sardine thing?
You just eat sardine.
I have beef with this sardine stuff.
Yeah.
That's what people.
I've heard a lot about people who are like sardine fasting where it's a fast.
So Bobby's doing right now, a sardine fasting.
Wait, are you doing?
I'm serious.
This is like my beef with all of this.
It's just that like it's a personal thing.
Like when I was growing up, we had Senorita sardines.
It was canned sardines, tinned fish.
And it was the poor man's food.
I'm realizing now that a lot of these like trends that like the sardine fast and all
of these like expensive, you know, well marketed things were it's just a repackaging of
unfortunately what was considered the poor man's food.
Caroline literally did this.
Yeah, for Fishwife, right?
And it's beautiful, beautifully marketed.
But yesterday we were talking about like, what is the next poor man food that we're going to turn into this expensive thing?
And he was like, what about, did he say Vienna sausages?
And I was like, bro, we're not going to do that.
That is so processed.
Well, okay, so fresh way, which is in my drink, it could be that next poor man's food.
Yeah.
Because it's just mostly tip down the drain.
Yeah.
Mostly people just throw it away.
cheese makers have no need for it.
If they don't turn it into powder, they just throw it away.
So it's an upcycled product.
So, but it's, it has nutrients in it.
Is that your protein source?
That's no, that's just the base of our drink.
And then we add a powder to it, a wet, organic way isolate to boost the protein in it.
Why do you use that as this, like, base?
Basically because it's never been done before.
So like, what I wanted to do if I started a product was I didn't want to have a tequila company or like, I don't know, just something that people bought because it was mine.
I wanted to kind of create something of value, which part of that means hard to copy.
And so that's kind of what I was thinking when I started it with my co-founder.
It was like, what's something that you can't just mimic?
Like muscle milk might hear about us doing well and go, oh, let's try and do that.
It'll be really hard for them to do.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Because of breastfeeding, I'm like housing snacks and processed foods.
And it's like I'm getting to that thing where I just feel so gross.
Okay.
You're pointing at me.
No, I hear you're saying.
I'm really so on a shake well stuff, though, because I've always had issues with protein powders across the board.
Like, I think that's my next, and that's my next bye.
I'd love to, yeah, I'd love for you to try it.
Yeah.
How many sardines are you eating a day? I have to ask.
Okay, so I tried to get into it because I've seen so many everything.
Basically, I just see something on TikTok, one video, and I'm like, okay, I'll do this.
Instantly, I'm sold.
That's why I saw a thing about sauerkraut and beats.
So I got beet sauerkraut.
I try to eat that every day.
Easy.
Are you enjoying sardines and the beets?
No.
It's not good.
I can give you some sardine combo tips because I've eaten sardines my whole life.
Sardines are gross.
I don't like it.
What's your combo?
My combo is this.
But you're going to be like, oh, I'm not into rice because you're not eating carbs or whatever.
I like rice.
I had rice.
A very common breakfast for me is boiled eggs, sardines.
A little kimchi and rice.
Oh, fuck yeah.
And it's just so fucking good.
I mean, no, it's not.
No, I'm just so jealous of people who grew up with, like, traditional cultures, like, Asian.
Like, you guys are just so, it's like, I eat fucking fruit loops for breakfast.
So, like, that's how my taste buds are trained.
So, no, I'm not going to just wake up and be like, let me have some sardines and kimchi.
Like, you got programmed correctly, and I didn't.
I mean, no offense to anyone out there, the fruit loops are a thousand times better.
The sardines.
Wait, I like fruit loops, too.
Yeah, it is better.
It is like a more enjoyable thing, but I'm trying to like switch my programming.
It was the same with like, are you into cottage cheese?
I'm not.
Yeah, it took me like years to get.
Now I like it, but it was like so hard to like cottage cheese.
But it's made a huge comeback.
It was the gross cheese that my mom used to, you know, my mom's like a weightlifter and this was her thing.
And now everyone is back on the cottage cheese train.
Yeah.
Wait, do you have an opinion on like, like these like amino.
acid specific products where they're like, this product has all the amino acids you need.
That's stupid.
Okay.
So because oats, they all, they have all the amino acids that you need, but they just don't
have enough of them.
So you need all eight or nine or whatever it is in the right portions.
And meat, for instance, has a perfect ratio of amino acids.
But then peas doesn't or, you know, oats don't or all these other sources don't.
So whenever they say that, it's like, what does that even mean?
And collagen, right, has no methionine in it, which is one of the necessary amino acids to help you build muscle.
So people say, oh, it has 10 grams of protein, but it's from collagen.
It's basically like almost useless for your muscles.
Yeah.
I got an amino acid drink, because I saw something on TikTok, and I was like, okay, I'm going to drink amino acid.
And in the morning, I was drinking, like, amino acids with caffeine in it.
And I remember I woke up, I hadn't used it yet, and I just poured it in.
And it was like neon orange.
It was like so, it was like basically Gatorade.
that I got tricked into paying like 40 bucks for
of like just the most toxic process thing
and you know, I drink it every day to this day.
Is it a branch chain amino acids or essential amino acids?
It's a little packet that says orange fruit punch amino acid.
I like fruit punch, so I guess I'll drink it.
Yeah, it literally might as well be a Kool-Aid packet,
I would have no idea.
You put it in coffee?
I put it in water.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, so branch chain is bullshit.
Okay.
Essential amino acids are okay.
I think you were drinking the BC2A's because I was on that tip.
Like, oh, I would say like five years, six years ago.
Yeah.
Before a workout, before I'd go to berries, just BC2A's because I was so convinced
because also they taste sweet and like a food drink.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I didn't do shit.
Yeah.
You can kind of tell.
I feel like I always can realize like once I'm eating whatever I bought, I'm realizing
I got completely duped.
Like, this tastes way too much like peanut butter and jelly for this to actually be good for me.
Yeah.
To Esther's question before.
like what what would you say Luke one would be like the basic is it just whole foods eating clean
like what's like the really the heart of it the most important well it has to be like you're just
I don't know consistently eating well with your diet like a mostly whole food's diet if possible
lifting a few times a week reasonably heavy people who work out for an hour a day and then just
sit around for the rest of the day even if they work out really intensely I know this is really
annoying. That is good. Like that are basically like over 7,500 steps a day like boosts your
longevity by like 40%. Wait, you're saying even if, because I'm a lounger and a bed rotter,
because I have pots. I'm a sleepy girl. Yeah, we're both kind of horizontal girlies,
but you're saying that if I were to put in an hour of like an actual workout that it's okay
that I'm a sleepy girl. No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying, yeah, you literally heard what you
I'd say I'd say three times, four times a week that you go and do that big hard workout.
Yeah.
But then just be aware that the rest of the day, you know, taking the baby on your kids on a walk.
Yeah.
Something like that.
Just to get the number about to 7,500 is good.
I'd say that's the minimum effective dose.
And then you want to lift on top of that so that you keep gain and keep muscle.
And then you want to eat, you know, a protein forward diet with veggies and fruit and stuff as well.
Okay.
But why have I seen you on these videos where like you're going so crazy on the,
the trampoline to burn calories, but it's like you don't look like a guy that needs to burn
calories. Why are you doing? That's a joke video. I was like, I was pretending that. However,
I've been, we, is a, the trampoline is new for us. It is so good for you. It is. And tell you what,
10 minutes on the trampoline is like a 20 minute jog, I reckon. What? As many steps, like,
your core, it feels great. But also like, as like, to regulate your nervous system. Your lymphatic
system. Yeah. All those things. I think it's really good for.
So I was just been doing it for fun, but I'm like, oh, this is kind of good.
I look down on my watch.
I'm like, my heart rates elevated.
My steps are going up like crazy.
I'm like, this is really fun.
Like, you do it with your kids.
And I always am thinking about things like that, like a walk with the kids or jumping on the trampoline or even wrestling for 10 minutes.
It's like, it's good stuff.
You got to learn to wrestle because you have a young boy.
You're going to be so much fun to wrestle, dude.
Oh, my God.
You got to learn to wrestle.
We, but you have ballet skills.
You're a dancer.
I feel like this is right up your alley.
I have had a vision lately that my son is going to be good at soccer.
Oh, I think this is related to your dancing ability and your coordination.
Yeah, I'm like, I just see it.
So you focus on, like, physical activities with their children.
We're always, like, trying to come up with ways that they'll play in bed.
Like, for me, like, sticker.
We do, like, stickers in bed and pictures in bed.
Oh, that's not, not with a boy.
Yeah, I guess.
It's impossible.
It's like, I love to bed rot.
I haven't bedrotted since being a parent.
It's not possible.
Can you try stickers?
No.
He'll take that.
sticker and try to you know he wants to run he needs he's a boy like he needs to move his body and
i um have fully accepted that that is my fate i too have to now move my body with him because it's like
it's just different requirements i think that like i who's that wonderful jewish pediatrician on
um instagram who i just never heard those words together wonderful and jewish oh i love him i love him he's
He's got seven kids.
He's got seven kids and he says, do not have play dates with your toddler boy and another
toddler girl.
It's just going to frustrate you and don't do that to yourself.
So I was going to text that to you because I'm like, oh, no.
Is that why you canceled on me?
Yeah, I think that's why I canceled.
I'm like, oh, I feel like he is very, you know.
But I need to see.
Are your boys like they need to move a lot?
You know, I work five days a week, but on the weekends, I take him out both mornings,
somewhere they can move.
And I don't like to take him somewhere.
Like sometimes we'll go to Santa Monica
and they'll be in the back of my bike
and I'll push them along.
And I'm like, that's not good.
I don't want to do that anymore
because they don't move.
It's just anything they move.
I'm like, good.
Can you sleep alone, Luke?
Yeah.
I'm a hard, deep sleeper.
I've slept through several fire alarms.
Oh my God.
Yeah.
I just do not wake up,
which is usually not reassuring for a partner
to be somebody's like dead of sleep.
Once I became a dad, my awareness of sounds around me completely shifted.
Yeah, I could see that.
Like my ability to like wake up and like something's happening just outside or upstairs or I can hear everything.
It's just crazy.
I'd never had that before.
That's so cool to hear from a dad.
Yeah, I know because they usually hear that about moms.
I know.
Yes, but my partner, he wakes up for every wake up of my kid.
Like if I'm awake because we go sleep, he adjusts my pillow and every.
So that is sweet.
That is cute.
Yeah.
Well, I think it's a.
actually that I've heard that moms have a very like they their awareness for sound is like to the
baby and the father has an awareness of like the surroundings. And I've certainly found that to be the
case. Like like my awareness of what's going on in the house. Like I'm like, I'm listening for footsteps
upstairs. And so like my mother-in-law lives up there. And so if it's like it's like, it's relaxed
footsteps. I'm like, cool. This is the middle of the night. Like I'm like, relaxed footsteps.
I'm like here. Do-d-d-d-d-d-d-d- I'm like, what's something's happening? And so I'm like awake.
It's just an awareness that I've just come up with like in the last five years.
Wait, when you move to Australia, are the in-laws, the whole family is moving?
Everyone's coming.
My dream.
Honestly, my wife and my mother-in-law look like you.
Oh, really?
They're Maldis.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
And your tattoo kind of made me think that maybe you were.
Filipino, there's a lot of like crossover.
And Hawaiian too.
Yeah, and my partner is from Hawaii.
Yeah.
And so my dream is that I bait my entire family to just go back to Hawaii.
Hawaii, but no one is taking the bait because everyone's like,
where are you going?
Hawaii or the Philippines.
It's undecided lady, but one of the two places where my kid can grow up around
diving and ocean and nature and because I fear what Luke B says,
which is our son's generation is cooked.
No, he didn't say that.
It's just going to be a different life.
I don't think they're cooked.
I'm not cooked, you know.
I mean, you could grow up in Burbank and that's a lovely area as well.
You know?
Yeah, no, I'm not, yeah.
It looks like Hawaii.
It is like exactly like Hawaii.
I just need, I think I need to know that at the very least, he has this like grounding connection to the real world to soil to not gadgets all the time.
And I fear it.
I really do fear it.
Even if you send him to the Philippines, you don't think he's going to get some gadgets?
No, no, he will.
He will.
I'm just saying like the way that I want his childhood to look is actively in touch with nature.
Yeah, that's it.
Well, L.A is supposed to be like nice.
And it is such beautiful in its own way, but also like you go to the park and your kid's going to, your kid could see a dick.
You could see a dick at any park.
Come on.
But you know what?
You know what?
Look me, you grew up in the palisades and by the beach surfing connected to nature.
Go over there.
I don't have, I will maybe have palisades money at some point.
But I think that your upbringing is really beautiful in a lot of ways because you were right there right next to the ocean.
I was really growing up in like Main Street, Santa Monica too, which was like really cool also.
Wait, why?
Because you...
We were like in an apartment
like off Main Street, Santa Monica.
So like that's like,
that's where like I really have like most of my childhood memories.
And then we moved to like the palsies in like third grade maybe.
But not your mom's milky breast.
No, I had to like, oh my mom's milky breast, unfortunately.
And that was like, you know,
I was really hard for the family.
But I moved on.
We have to wrap up.
I'm so sad.
This has been my heart is full of Luke's today.
I'm so happy.
Luke, where, where can we?
find more of you and
get your protein and everything
and get hot like you and your hot wife.
God bless you. So it's at
the Luke Cook on TikTok and
Instagram and getshakewell.com
and I've got a discount.
Trash 15.
Your listeners. 15% off.
Is it available in stores at all?
Not yet. Everyone at the end of the
year. Oh, really? Dude.
I freaking love her.
That'll be great.
Oh my gosh. We knew you when. Oh my gosh.
Luke, how do we find you?
If you need to park your car.
Do not come to the coffee store.
I will not park your car.
I'm not involved in that.
You can follow me on Instagram.
Luke.
Binko, B-I-N-K-W.
Yeah, check me out.
I'm everywhere.
Just follow my Instagram.
Please, God.
He's everywhere.
Yeah.
I post sketches, whatever.
We love you, Slugs, and we'll see you next week for the brand new episode.
I'm going to be the
I'm going to be.
I'm sorry.
I don't know.
