Starting point is 00:00:00 Before we dive back into today's episode, great news for comedy TV fans. Every episode of the Hulu original series, Alice and Steve, is streaming on Hulu. From the producers of Baby Rangier comes a new edgy comedy. Lifelong best friends, Alice and Steve, see their world implode when Steve starts dating Alice's 26-year-old daughter. The once rock-solid friendship turns sour as Alice tries to sabotage their romance and Steve attempts to salvage their friendship, leading to hilarious hijinks and chaos. This unique comedy that can only be described as the first, wrong calm, proves that sometimes best friends make the best enemies.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Alice and Steve takes a wild premise and turns it into a sharp, insightful, laugh-out-loud British comedy with real emotional bite. Starring Jermaine Clement and Nicola Walker, the series explores friendship and modern dynamics with a blend of dry, dark, British wit, and awkward situational comedy that will delight every generation. Starting point is 00:01:05 What are you doing right now? Okay, am I on air? There's air in the world. No, my being recorded right now. I just wanted to tell you that you're hands are. No, it might be recorded right now. You're not being recorded, but you're on Trash Tuesday. Yeah, that's being recorded.

Hey, Sluggies, this is for my stinky people, so everyone. Yes, I'm in the car wash because it's where I like to take my pit-stop
Starting point is 00:01:55 deodorant break. Go to buy tiajena.com. That's b-y-t-I-A-J-N-N-A.com and you can buy some of my natural deodorant that I make that works and then tag me and tell me where you pit stop. For me, it's usually the car wash. And for my sluggies, use the code trash. That's T-R-A-S-H in the checkout box or whatever it's called. Buy-Ti-A-Gena.com. Let me know where you take your pit stop. Jason, I'm sorry you're here on Girls' Day. I love it. Okay, really?
Starting point is 00:02:28 I don't think you know what you're in for. Just us squirrels. Oh, really? Yeah, because I really wanted to bring up the last conversation the three of us had, which involves heavy pubes. No. Okay, I was just going to talk about that because I was thinking this morning in the shower. What's- Because some of my-
Starting point is 00:02:44 Give him the back story. Okay. Okay, I'm basically married too. You know what? This is the thing that I can't stand. Let me just start with this. People, first off, you're hot. Okay?
Starting point is 00:02:56 And that's fine. I knew that was coming. Okay, this is what pisses me off. People act as if you can't tell someone that they're fucking hot. And let me tell you, it's because men have ruined it. Because when men say that women are hot, they feel like they're targeted, like they might be followed home. Like they might be in danger. Like they're going to get attacked.
Starting point is 00:03:17 When you tell a dude they're hot, they're like dope. They're not like, oh, she's going to come and sit. on my face and I won't be able to breathe. Like, they're not worried for their life. Why did you have to say that? Esther, keep eating. Okay. Because you riled me up. Yeah, I hear you. I hear you.
Starting point is 00:03:30 I think that objectively, I do think it's very safe when a girl's like, hey, you're really attracted. There's no actual like connected burning desire in my life. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's like you appreciate the aesthetic. Let's hear from the victim. Okay, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Because you're saying he's got a wife. I basically got a husband too. I really need to hear your victim testimony. Yeah, how did you feel? Wait, wait. So wait, wait, what's happening? So basically what happened was, is I was like, you're, you just want me to say it again. I had said that you were hot and Esther jumped in.
Starting point is 00:04:03 He's got a wife. No. No. Oh, I see. I see. As if. I think there's a way to say that. But then the way you said is like, oh, it's like, um, this water bottle is a good, nice one.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah, like, oh, I like that pillow that you know. Yeah. I like that. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. You are an object.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Like I'm objectifying you, but in a. Yeah, but it's nice. but yeah not in a belittling way what what is the what's the premise of this Jenna you better lawyer up the premise is Esther goes whoa whoa whoa he's got a wife as if oh I see that either too wife you up marry you have sex with you but this is for the clips no yeah it's called a podcast it's called your opinion because you're sexist against women yes I hear Jenna said it means welcome to trash Tuesday yeah I'm your host sorry that took a while
Starting point is 00:04:50 Mother Furby, he's like, what is going on? No, I like it. Today's guest, we have Jenna is back. Hi. And we have our fan favorite, our beloved Jason Cheney is back. Did I say your last name right? Thank you, yeah. Is it Cheney or Cheney?
Starting point is 00:05:08 Cheney. Cheney, so you said it wrong. Okay. No, it was like. But he wasn't going to correct to you. He should have. He should have cracked to me. I have no self-respect.
Starting point is 00:05:17 It's okay. People call me Esther and I still just let them. do it because I have a silent H in my name. Oh. You guys, I have a theory that I need to test out on everyone here. It's called the Esther Pavitsky Ice Coffee Relationship Theory. Who's ready? Me.
Starting point is 00:05:35 We have no choice. So I think that for a relationship to be successful, only one person can drink ice coffee and the other person has to be a hot coffee person. The way that you drink your coffee says so much about you. That's very true. And that those like two iced coffee drinkers, it would be explosive. It would be a nightmare. Like it would never work.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Or even too hot. No, no, no. But if it's two iced lattes is fine. No. No. Two ice latte, not cool. No, not. That's iced coffee. Old milk.
Starting point is 00:06:09 One person has to have a hot latte and one person has to have an ice latte. Are you concerned? But what if their order is a little different, like iced oatmeal latte and then someone gets like iced American I guys what I am I here is the Esther Pavitsky ice coffee relationship that's what we're trying to ask you about details you guys are not understanding we're getting clarity from the eyes what does iced coffee mean I it means just just coffee with ice okay there's no lottees ice drink coffee drink so we're drink hot drink thank you there we go it's important to do studies before you get
Starting point is 00:06:43 out there in the world I was a I was a tutor we got to you know bring it down to The basics. Cold or hot? Yeah. I feel like a hot coffee drinker. They're like more practical. They're frugal. They're just more serious in life. Whereas an iced coffee drinker, like, they're more carefree. You know, they're creative. They're free-spirited. I think you're right. I really wanted to say that you were wrong. I know you did. But I'm thinking about my life and like my dad. My dad is hot coffee. That is it. That's all he wants. Maybe some cream and sugar. Hot. my partner just a hot coffee and oh Aloha is just hot and black not the man
Starting point is 00:07:23 himself yeah he's just very a basic hot coffee guy I don't think I've ever seen him I think I would ick me out if I saw that kind of man with an ice drink actually Jason are you're awfully quiet too well he's sitting next to Aloha is also he he's like a practical and frugal he's very like practical like how do I say like salt of the earth kind of dude i never thought about the hot colding and then because my mom is a hot coffee drinker and she's like really frugal and yeah yeah yeah i never thought about she's serious yeah she's very serious yeah and cold is very like silly right wait but hold on yeah you know i don't like to put any cold into my body though it doesn't feel right chinese medicine says it's not good jennas chinese
Starting point is 00:08:08 again today okay so but that doesn't really match up with my personality i'm not really an iced latte girly but my personality says otherwise but you drink guys coffee yeah i love it look at what he's sitting next to him do you feel like you're a free-spirited crazy person you silly boy the silly boy i'm a silly but i feel like most of it most of it silly but some um like i have a calendar is that something is that a hot coffee thing calendar yeah yeah yeah oh my god but that's because that's not remember anything that's unorganized yeah i have like a small one and then a bigger size one and then one that goes on my wall. If I recall how the last 15 seconds went, I don't think anyone asked you what the
Starting point is 00:08:55 differences were you with each calendar. I wanted to, knowing that you had three, we're all like, stay away from her. I wanted to try and defend myself. You scared Jason. It sounded worse.
Starting point is 00:09:05 But the thing is, but the thing, if you have like a big, you have one that's you could like write on yet. Yeah. But then you can't transfer that into like a digital one though. Oh yeah. I have on my phone too.
Starting point is 00:09:17 It's because I forget. Because I forget everything that's happening. And so I have to know if I look in my phone, what if I forget my calendar at home? Or what if I'm at home and I forget my calendar somewhere else? It's on my wall. ADHD. I never thought about that. You're kind of like a prized ADHD child in that.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Like you really set up guardrails for yourself. True. Where it's like, know thyself. You know yourself. And it's like, I'm a three calendar bitch. I need all three. I will tell you why. Yeah, I will tell you why.
Starting point is 00:09:48 You knew me in college. Yeah. I had no guardrails. I had been diagnosed at that point like three times. I had been prescribed Ritalin like a very high amount, but I didn't want to take it. And I was like, I don't have ADHD. It's not a real thing. If you just focus, you can get past it.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Not true. So I spent like eight hours in the library a day. Reading the same page. Reading the same page. And people would be going out and they'd be like, why are you still doing this assignment? distracted. And I'm like, or my study guides would be 24 pages long because I can't discern between important information. See, this is why I liked going to the library with her because I didn't like to study. But I knew that if I went with her, we weren't going to study. We were going to
Starting point is 00:10:27 we were going to dance in the corner. There were times where I was underneath the table crying because I was like, I just don't understand how to write a paper. So it's true. I feel like I'm the opposite where it's in a bad way where like if you ask me any time of day and I haven't seen a clock for hours. Like, I will be within two minutes. I will just know the time. Like, I'm so dialed in. And I don't think it's good because I'm like not free. I'm not like in a flow state. Wait, you know what time it is usually? Yeah. What time is it? You can't like right now. I mean, this is kind of easy. This is kind of hard. Because like doing the time passes, differently in the pod. I feel like it's probably around 1135. Yeah, 1133. 1133.
Starting point is 00:11:11 You said two minutes. Yeah. Oh my goodness. I. always know wizard wow you guys not feel like you could do that sometimes i can i'm very well aware of time um my body doesn't match my plans like ever this has been my biggest struggle struggle it's like i have like big dreams for my day and my body does not like catch up to those dreams is it stressful though like and then eight hours and i'm still like do you really want to match my things but i do know time where do you stand or sit knowing the times yeah i always say like an like an average if you say minutes out five minutes is kind of 10 minutes right what what okay kind of 10 minutes what depending on what it is like you're like oh I'll see you in five minutes but
Starting point is 00:11:58 really like 10 minutes or or or two that depends who you talk not me if you say five minutes and it's not five minutes yeah like when I'm going to have to be at three she sends me Texas says two fifty nine fifty nine oh that's the time But do you do you get mad if why do you think this is an evil laugh. Yeah. If you're like if it's a bright on time and you're not nervous, she go ETA. Oh really? Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:25 259. 59. 59 is because I'm scared of being alone with my two kids. So I'm like that I need you. You've been counting down. Also, you have such a good sense of time. Like when I watch Esther get ready at her house for somewhere, it's like I don't know what is happening for me in between like getting my water bottle.
Starting point is 00:12:44 making my like today to be here at 1115 I had to wake up at eight I was like where did all the time go and I said a 20 minute timer a 5 minute timer a 10 minute timer hold on I just really want to protect the male gaze for a second and say like a woman has been talking for too long and I would like to wait I'm a woman how since when do you refer to me as a woman since you've been yapping your mouth all day. Bitch, keep a yep in. So how are you with time management, sir? Sir.
Starting point is 00:13:16 How quickly we resort to being a handmade? He sent over a thing that says how girls are dressing this summer. Oh, okay. As I was already dressed. And then I pulled up the picture and then I looked at my own outfit and I was like, oh, I think this is what they're talking about. So I look like, so let's. So let's put this on the screen.
Starting point is 00:13:39 And if you're only listening, the How Girls Are Dressing this summer report is a photo of James Gandalfini wearing a pretty inexpensive looking white T-shirt. It doesn't look like a nice cut at all that's flattering to his body. He's wearing long shorts. We all have seen those everywhere. They look very polyester. Very, very long shorts, yes. And he's nursing his son. And he also has a handkerchief, a band-a-and-a-and-a-band.
Starting point is 00:14:07 a handkerchief over his head. Wait, can you say he's nursing his son even if he's not breastfeeding? Wouldn't it just be he's feeding his son? Did I say nursing? Nursing. She's wanted to make sure men don't get that as well. It's a soprano. Well, John Lover forget when I said to my dad, hey, James Gandelfini died and he's like, I have to go and he hung up. And I think he started crying.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Oh, I know. Because men, speak for the men. Men love the soprano. Of course. I think a lot of us do. Anyways, he looks pretty not great, but this is how all hot girls are dressing all over New York and LA. Can you take a look at my outfit then? I mean, she's literally wearing exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But you're hot at it. No, no. I'm wearing my flip flops. You're like skinny all of a sudden. It's hot to dress like that. Why? Do you like this look for women? I like it.
Starting point is 00:14:59 It's like pretty relaxing, honestly. Bro, I, I, this man has. He's scared. He's scared of everyone here. They should be scared because he's acting right. He's coming correct. He's saying the right shit. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:15:10 I don't like this now. Whoa. What the fuck is that? Finally, you talk back to me. Do you like it? Yeah. Wait, what didn't you like? I was giving you a compliment.
Starting point is 00:15:24 You're coming correct. Yeah. How is that a compliment? Yeah. You come and correct like you, you own me or something? No, you're coming correct. Like I'm some sort of subhuman. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Well, what is correct? Well, coming incorrect would have been if you were like, no, girls don't look hot like that. Girls shouldn't be wearing clothes like that. That's my opinion. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you made some broad assumptions there when you're like, he's scared. He's coming correct. You're just talking for me.
Starting point is 00:15:51 What is happening? Okay, damn. Okay, you're right. I have an opinion too. Oh, shit. Okay, he's speaking up. Yes, sir. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Yes, sir. I will say this about this James Gandalfini outfit, which I am looking at like his identical twin today. This is how I dressed in college as a college athlete. And I love that this whole look is coming back. The flip flops, the baggy shorts, like the, you know, the sloppy T-shirt. I always thought it was one of the hotter looks when I would see just a girl look effortlessly, like not giving a fuck.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Only because I, this silhouette, I know men wear it, but I actually think it looks extremely nice on a lot of women bodies. I think women are beautiful. That's good, right? That's a good start. That's a good start. That's good. You can't come to correct right now.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I think women are beautiful. And I don't know if this is a tangent or not, but if women are just naked immediately when men see it, I'm not really, I'm like, all right. But then if it's a little cover, if it's covered up, whatever you wear is nice. Like to me, maybe that's, am I correct? Some women show up naked.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Huh? Like, where are you that some women are? No, but you know what I mean? You're saying like you like mystery. You like some mystery. I think all men. Yeah. Okay, maybe not all, but in general.
Starting point is 00:17:12 The fashion thing, like every fashion changes every five years and people are like, I like this. I like that. But people are fucking just as much because we're like, oh, this is nice. You know what he is? He's so straight. He has no opinion on the type of clothing that women wear. I'm gay.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Trust me. But that's also straight. A straight man who's like, yeah, I would fuck a dude. I'm like, you're straight and you're hot. I really, really want to believe that. But there was a time when I was really just a reckless, like, horny, like all like my molestation had not been processed in my brain. Where I would dress so provocatively with these coochie cutters, where you could just everything about me was like everything. Sorry, my uncle.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Oh, no. Okay. Why you ask that question for? dude fuck that was i didn't expect that i was trying to do a quick bit thing he's doing a bit like crazy no but then like i want to believe that but then i got to say both versions me as james gandelfini and me and coochie cutters both well received see that's what i'm saying so you agree with me yeah no i thought maybe you were thinking like all men just wanted james gandlefini oh no no i think yeah no both however you dress you're beautiful already
Starting point is 00:18:27 so if it's like a little bit of a mystery cover up uh and then we're like who what's under it yeah it doesn't matter yeah doesn't matter it doesn't matter is it what if it's not as much of a mystery like sometimes i'm wearing no clothes sometimes i mean not no clothes but sometimes i'll wear like just a t-shirt out and other times it's like no bottoms yes are you kidding me we what yeah are you kidding her and i that this is what we would wear how is this new shirt last week i wore a t-shirt i never seen you guys in no Panties and boots. Okay, okay. I want to go back to, I want to go back to the pants here because I know you're saying like,
Starting point is 00:19:05 oh, it's like casual, whatever. But this look, if you look specifically at his shorts, he's wearing a belt. Like, these are formal shorts. And that's what I'm seeing on Silver Lake, around New York. It's like, it's more of a formal short look, which I don't think is. There's a cargo pocket, though. I don't like that because you say, oh, it's like so carefree. But when I see that around Silver Lake, I'm like, these girls.
Starting point is 00:19:27 look like they're showing up to work as like a plumber but this is 1895 no 1999 yeah but that is truly what they're doing yeah but also the fabric they have was not as comfortable as today so that's they're comfortable that's their polyester right now the fabrics have not hold on it has trust me this is what i miss about being really young is that when i was younger i could wear any fabric anytime anywhere and i wouldn't notice a thing about like now it's like everything makes my kucci itch everything everything if it's not a hundred percent cotton I'm just disgusting why is it like this me too you too yeah your kuchi hitch I like my kuchi it's hit shit see why right yeah okay well speaking of the 90s okay there is a little
Starting point is 00:20:14 challenge going on in the new that has the New York Times has presented to all of us and I'd like to share it and see if you guys are interested the challenge is to host a 90s style hangout You may be wondering how, I'll tell you. I feel like that's just every day already. So basically, if you want to do this before a hangout, you get in touch with someone and you agree on one ground rule, you leave your phones at home. And if you must bring them, you have to keep them turned off.
Starting point is 00:20:41 And then you decide where you're going before. Confirm the day before. And then you have to resist the urge to keep updating in real time. Like there's no real time. Then you check directions before you go and you commit to being on time. Let me use MapQuest. I was going to say I love MapQuest. Because you will not have the ability to say like, I'm on my way or like I'm running late.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Okay, yeah. And then during the hangout, it's like real face to face. That's really exciting. This is. This is like literally my dream right now. It is. Oh my God. Yes.
Starting point is 00:21:08 I talk about it all the time. There's, I miss going to a place or going, I know you're not a club person. But we were. Just not giving a fuck about taking a photo, anything. It was just, you just existed and it was fun. Yeah. No updates. No weird glare from someone's phone.
Starting point is 00:21:26 And here's this is great for me. It says allow your conversation to meander and you're like because you're used to filling the silence by picking up your phone and disappearing into separate feeds like it will be uncomfortable and it says like just trust that the conversation will pick up again and don't force it. I love this. I love this. It's kind of hard to do that when you think about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:49 I think we haven't done our reps in a long time because I think it's easier said than done because at one point we probably did exist this way. If I were to like have a camera on myself, I probably, the amount of times I'd probably pick up my phone is absurd. I pick up my phone too much, especially to update people like Esther. I'm like five minutes away, three minutes away, one minute away. I love how you act. That's like you too, like that's a two-way street. I don't love all those updates.
Starting point is 00:22:13 I don't know. I don't know because sometimes if I don't give them, you go. ETA? True. Where? True. How long? Wait, but if you just show up on time, this final or?
Starting point is 00:22:25 Well, I don't know. You know, you would think that it's fine. Are you not on time? Wait, that's so real. Yeah. I am on time. You are? I am on time.
Starting point is 00:22:33 But she'll always text me like, she'll be like, okay, my ETA says 303, but I think I'm going to make up for the time in the air. I do. I do. I do do that a lot. And then she's like, it's 259. I'm here. It's a long explanation.
Starting point is 00:22:45 It's because I'm scared of Esther. I'm scared to come after 2.59. It is a video game at this point, basically, that we're playing. So how do we, how do we plan this and who's invited? Wait, can I ask. Real quick though, like before like the scrolling the phones before, what did people do? I forgot. What do people do when two people talk and then there's like a silent situation?
Starting point is 00:23:09 It's a good question because I haven't thought about that in a long time and it sounds really scary. Because I never felt like I panicked before. But then now if there's too long of a silent, I'm kind of like, all right, do I eat the food like real slow? Like what? I love a silence like when I'm hanging out with someone just like a. No, I love that when it's comfortable, but then when it's two people, if you just meet for the first time. And you ran out of things. Yeah, you ran out of things.
Starting point is 00:23:32 There's always like a kind of a moment thing. So, but before, I don't think we ever thought of that. This is where I get really annoying. This is where I'm like, Kalila, turn on your podcast brain and come up with a next topic. It's true. The responsibility is on me now. The topics don't stop. She'll, oh, really?
Starting point is 00:23:48 But I'm stressed. This is why I go home tired. This is why I tell Aloha, do not bring me. Because he's like, babe, someone's birthday party. I have fun because I don't know how to not be a podcast girl and I feel a responsibility of being like, what next are we going to talk about? You're like hosting. I will say that you've been like this though before you started podcasting.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Yeah, but then I come out exhausted. So this is why my real friends know I'm actually a very quiet person. If you're in the home with me, leave me the fuck alone. I'm fine. But in a social setting, you'll you'll think that I am a social butterfly, but that's because I'm like, I feel pressure to like keep the conversation going because I'm uncomfortable. Yeah, so yeah, why? I have social anxiety.
Starting point is 00:24:34 And I feel like I'm scared of being perceived as like what I really am, which is the wallflower in like the corner, which I really want to be. What's going to happen if you're like on a, that they don't, in my head, it's they don't like me. If I don't bring something entertaining to the table or or interesting or show them like a little bit of who, like what I think about the world. whatever I in my head I saw there's a part of my brain that's like oh she's boring I don't know if this is behind how I used to be yeah but you know how I wanted to like entertain everyone all the time I would walk into a room I just wanted people to laugh you're like a really good third
Starting point is 00:25:12 wheel when two people are trying to fall in love because I feel like if you want to fall in love you always like a third person's like he's so silly yeah like oh my god this is she's so weird and then it's like oh we love you dude I was a third I was like you The third wheel, because I didn't start dating until college. I'm telling you I was on dates with friends. They were starting to make out at the movie theater. It was the two of them and me. Well, why aren't you dating, though?
Starting point is 00:25:35 I was just like too busy doing other things. Too busy trying to make people laugh, I guess. You know who else is like this? Gilbert. Yes. Gilbert is the perfect person. I literally invite him everywhere to anything because everyone is like not on guard around him because he's so just like wonderful and sunshiny. But we also both make fools of ourselves.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Yeah. all the time silly so everyone's just like oh okay we can relax now he's so silly how is it on the inside it used to feel really good to me because i felt like i was having fun and interacting with people then it started really tiring me out and now i would say i'm much different in social settings like i'm i listen more i'm a bit more quiet if i get the urge to like want to be the funny one because someone else is being funny i'm like you take it you got you got this one That's how I feel. Yeah, wrong comedians too.
Starting point is 00:26:27 I did something last week. I hit such a low for someone who works in our field, like a comedian who's like supposed to have like ideas and thoughts. I realize I am so boring at home. I ordered a set of cards that are conversation starters. That's cool. When me and Dave have our like 15 minutes together at the end of the night. Wait, for you guys? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I thought it was for other people. But she thought for for herself. I can't share. I won't share. Me, just me. Like, ooh, never thought of that before. I literally'm like, okay, Dave, I get him, I sit him down. I'm like, all right, how would you describe your personal taste in interior style?
Starting point is 00:27:08 And then we talk for 15 minutes. I feel like these are important questions to ask your partner. I think that's cool to like reignite conversation. And that's how I know that it's not cool. Got it. I appreciate that. It's kind of like one of those things where. Before, I used to think that people who plan sex are like psychopaths.
Starting point is 00:27:28 But when you get older and when life happens, you're like, you know what? What's so bad about a planned session? Yeah. What's the alternative not planning it and then just not having sex? But also, are we supposed to? I'm just when you said that, I'm like, are we supposed to think about what to ask them and be genuinely interested? That's why the cards are there. Yeah, but if you have a card is like we didn't use our brain to not that I have.
Starting point is 00:27:52 I don't have any questions to ask, you know what I mean? But not that I have it, but I'm saying that you might not care. Not that maybe you do care, but we're so busy every day doing the stuff that we're like, dude, I don't have energy to ask you your interior taste. For me, that's not an issue. Once I see the question, I'm like, all right, let's go. Like, I'm in. Oh, okay, I see. But this is the hard one.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Coming up with the question that's interesting. But you know, here's what I'll say about that. I know what you're saying, which is like, you know, I think when you've been with someone, you're married. you're married. When you've been with someone for so long, you kind of stop getting to know them in many ways. And you stop getting curious about things. But then you kind of don't because people evolve, right? So I think it's good to pick up a pack of cards and kind of like, who are you again?
Starting point is 00:28:37 No, I wasn't hating it. No, no, I know. Yeah, no, I know what you're saying because it's like, shouldn't I come up with this on my own? And like, shouldn't I? But I think when your brain is really tired and a lot of things are happening in your day, it's good to have something already there to like a minor assist. It's just something that starts it, right? Because from there can come a conversation that maybe ignites something that you actually care about and then you ask a question on your own.
Starting point is 00:29:02 What if you're like, I really don't even care to know your answer about your interior design taste? Then you go to the next con. I think this is where like some shared hobbies help a little bit because there's always something to talk about like if you care about the same music, games, towards the band. I don't want no shared hobbies. You guys, I love cash app. It is so easy to use. Sometimes some of us can fall for certain scams. Like, you know what scam I definitely fall for?

Can we talk about skims? the cotton collection. You know me. I'm like, my whole thing, my new personality is cotton only. No, no, no. I know. We've been saying that. And Skims has nailed it with the cotton collection.
Starting point is 00:32:29 I feel like it's become my mom uniform at home, right? Like where I can feel, that's my thing with skims all the time. It's like it hits both comfortable. And then yet I feel like, oh, wait, I'm still kind of hot. I've still got it. And I'm fulfilling my desire of being the Earth Mother where it's cotton, it's natural fibers. But I just feel really good about myself. The Skis Skims, Cotton, Jersey, Foldover Pants. That is a great one. Do you know that that's all I wore during pregnancy, right? Oh, I'm so mad that I didn't have them during my pregnancy.

They're so perfect. You guys, shop Skims, Cotton, and all of our favorite pieces at skims.com. After you place your order, be sure to let them know.
Starting point is 00:33:13 We send you. Select a podcast in the survey, and be sure to select our show in the draw. on menu that follows. Can I say like a random thing? Yeah. Do you hear anything that we've been saying? All we do is random things. I like that.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Because just off of the card that you're, I like to ask like people what their perfect day looks like. If you have like a billion dollars, where are you, what does your furniture look like? Wow. And like what are you doing when you're waking up? up are you still working how many kids how many dogs and are you spending time well who you know i mean because i feel like with those answers like every single thing tells you a lot about their personality damn and then their values yeah so but then sometimes you ask um maybe because um i feel like even if you add the same person maybe you you you come up with it what my brain shut down
Starting point is 00:34:16 too much. That sounds like I saw all the time. Yeah. I think that's a really good question. Yeah, but that answer also changes a lot. Yeah, depending on where you're at, like in your life and stuff. I think we should all talk about like as it stands today, Wednesday, July, whatever, whatever. What does your perfect day look like?
Starting point is 00:34:35 I was afraid you were going to actually ask us. The thing is that it's like your perfect day better be so boring. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? I agree. Do you want to have like an exciting day? Okay, maybe like Tuesday or Wednesday. Because that can't be every day, right?
Starting point is 00:34:50 Yeah, it can be every day. A perfect day for me is like, I wake up. Where are you though? Wake up where? Not in my apartment. So she's homeless. So she wakes up homeless. Yeah, we're still doing construction.
Starting point is 00:35:04 I wake up in my apartment. The AC feels nice. I've been sleeping with it around 64 to 65. I'm not waking up. Very expensive. That's cold. That's expensive. That's expensive.
Starting point is 00:35:16 That's expensive for LA. Except what's important to me is how I feel. It's perfect day. Don't shit on a perfect day. What's most important to me is my health. So how I feel. So I wake up. Where which city?
Starting point is 00:35:27 Oh. Whatever city I'm in. Oh, you don't care? No, I just want to feel good. And it's not have a migraine. Ah, perfect day is health related. Yeah, I want to not have a migraine. I want to wake up, have a good formed poop.
Starting point is 00:35:43 I want to. Good form poop. Yeah. Yeah, I want to. How many slides? Just one slide. Oh, one slide. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Yeah. So the fibers are bonding well. That's nice. Then I want to have the means to make a wonderful breakfast and not feel like. You make it? You cook it or somebody else could. Well, because this is. Oh, wait.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Hold on. Hold on. It's a perfect day. You could have anything. Okay. Wait, wait, wait. This is like one time like 10 years ago, Jen and I were on a walk and I was like, how much money would you need to feel like you're set for life?
Starting point is 00:36:11 She goes, she goes, let me think. Hold on. $10,000. I really was like, when I have $10,000, I will be rich. I was like, I know we're in our 20s, but like, I was 26 at the time. You should want more. Oh my God, you're so right. I got to reach higher.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Okay. And she, by the way, she was like, that's really funny. 10,000. 10,000. Like, yeah, girl. That should be nice. Okay, wait. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:36:42 You're right. I have a private chef. You have a private chef. And they can make me food that I'm not allergic to. And I can run the AC because it doesn't matter because I have enough money to run the AC. Or maybe it does matter. Oh my God. This is crazy because it makes sense when I'm like, which city and you're like anywhere?
Starting point is 00:37:00 Which is like you don't really care where the thing is. It's just like you're alive. Yeah. I just want to feel good in my body. Oh my gosh. I feel like I've been happy and so like in the most in the shittiest places like where are you still? That's so nice. But not anymore.
Starting point is 00:37:15 I don't think I'm like that anymore. And so my perfect day would be that I just... You just appreciate a smooth shit. I think you're still there. That's... You know what? Oh my God. I'm going to cry.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Yeah. That is important. Yeah, you're right. No, but it's still nice, though. But if you're happy, just with the smooth shit, I think that's the best. Yeah. Because some people's like, let me get... 10,000.
Starting point is 00:37:35 I would like to have enough money to eat at Air One, private chef. I have a day I'm working on set and a TV show that I love. and I don't get a migraine and I can see out of both my eyes and I'm feeling good and my parents are healthy where do they live? They live in Chicago still but I have now moved them out to wherever I live.
Starting point is 00:37:57 That would be goal. Do you have a conceda for them or do you have like a do they live next door? They have like a guest house. Guest house. Yeah, they have a guest house. And then I go to sleep, put my AC back down to 64. It was up in the morning?
Starting point is 00:38:10 Yeah, yeah. So it's 64 and then I usually turn it off. I don't you just put it on auto just in case it goes up. It's the perfect day. Why not just leave it on? I just want to say as someone who is whose baby daddy is an HVAC guy, I don't like your turn it off AC.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Okay. Why do you keep it running? No, it's so much more power to load it back off. It's a lot harder to load it back up, which is actually what me and Dave were yelling at her about just yesterday. I am so annoyed that you were there for that and this is happening right now. You rack up your bill. Well, you keep it on.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Keep it on. You do keep it on, but just a little higher. Like from 60. Like this morning, I went from 69 was this morning. I put it back up to 76 before I left. What? Why? To save money? Yeah, because I'm at someone else's home, dog sitting. You can't power down, power up every day.
Starting point is 00:38:56 What are you talking about? You can turn it all the way off and on. You have to leave it on, but it can be at a higher. That's what I do. Oh, okay. Is that okay? I thought maybe it turned into like 78 and it shuts down your AC completely. It does.
Starting point is 00:39:06 It does. How much money do you think we're saving from 76 to 69? I think more than $200 a month. No one else had to do their perfect day. No, I have a very easy perfect day. My perfect day, let me go, because mine's really quick. I wake up. Jenna's locked in a hot cage.
Starting point is 00:39:28 I go back to bed. You peek to see hours later that she's still in the hot cage, you go back to bed again. But then you release me to do work in your house. That's true. So I know you wouldn't keep me locked in there forever. Okay, who's next? No, I'm curious. I don't have much.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Mine's easy. We're in Hawaii or the Philippines or somewhere where my eczema doesn't flare. Oh. My baby's eczema doesn't flare. The Aloha's eczema doesn't flare. Oh my God. We're just an itchy family, okay? Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:55 And then we spend the day at the beach with a baby. We go shelling. We go catch a couple fish. We go home. We cuddle. And that is all I ever want in life. That's not true. It's all I ever want.
Starting point is 00:40:08 I swear, not even Korea-related. If I had that and like, I had like the means to like support that life that life that's like more than enough. Yeah, I actually think that she's telling the truth. Why do you think? Why do you in Los Angeles doing the stuff to support that life? I guess all I dream about. Yeah, Kalila doesn't care about any of this.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Oh, Esther's skeptical. Because I used to feel like that too and I know we're very different and it is more realistic that you don't want anything else. But I just feel like doesn't it, it don't it could get boring. Like you need to be. You know what it is? I feel like I go through these phases where I'm like, I just want to be a mom. I don't want to do other stuff.
Starting point is 00:40:47 And then I realize like, wait, like, I need a little more. The thing is, like, I've had a very unboring life, I think, with too much, like, craziness. And I once went on when Bobby was relapse and we took him to a place in Arizona. I was in for a family session. And this one therapist said something that, like, completely rewired my brain. And he said, healing is into boredom. And that stuck with me forever. And it made sense, particularly for me, it made sense for Bobby because I think at that
Starting point is 00:41:21 point we were always chasing this like dopamine hit of life. We always like right around the corner is going to be a career change. Right around the corner is going to be this offer. Right around the corner, right around the corner. And I always sought that in my whole life. And I always found that my nervous system was very dysregulated that way. And I was always sweating, sweating, sweating, sweating. I now really welcome boredom. I welcome simplicity and I just want to be with my baby
Starting point is 00:41:47 and aloha and no with no eczema. Oh my god, that's the best. Thank you. That's really, that's really, that's really nice. He likes all of our perfect life. That was really profound, though. The healing is in the boredom. That's really scary. Was it in the beginning really hard to be in boredom like, because it's like, my brain doesn't work that way. My brain, I have a hot brain. It's always firing. You do have a hot brain. Yeah, I have a hot brain. Do I have a hot brain? You all of us have hot brains. If you're in this field and you are like my friend, you have a hot brain. She just called us her friends.
Starting point is 00:42:19 That's crazy. Write it down. It's our diary. On camera, we've got it. What's your perfect day? I don't have one. All of that. You made us make up our perfect days and you don't have one.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Perfect day, perfect life thing. With the beach thing, I'm curious if it. But like that is perfect, peaceful. You're not like thinking about a thing like that's like like you really enjoy that more like just a fish like go get a fish thing. Yeah. Because my partner and I like we're ocean people. Yeah. You know, we're divers. We do all this. So it's already part of the thing that we love the most. And there's activity in it. You're not. And it's very meditative. It's just calming and boring and wonderful. They're like diving. There's gear. There's activity. There's a lot. There's some there's some logistics that I would add into that perfect day, which is like, I wish I didn't have to dry my year and clean up my shit at the end of the day, but I won't get into that.
Starting point is 00:43:14 You would hire me to do with that. Yeah, you hire somebody. Yeah. You let her out of her hot. You let her out of her hot. You let her cool off with some work. I think the one that wins is Esther's perfect. That's me from my crate.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Wait, can we talk about the World Cup? Are we just not going to? We're not going to talk about the United States and what happened? The four one loss? No. Okay. But how about before that? how Trump tried to rig the World Cup.
Starting point is 00:43:43 I won't say that he tried to rig the World Cup. So U.S. was given a red card for one of their players. Trump inserted himself in the one thing that was basically uniting the United States was soccer. And he decided to insert himself. And he asked for the red card to be like revoked. Uh-huh. Obeyed.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Yeah. What's fucked up is that the United States played like agreeable trash, which We had been playing really, really well. The vibes, the morale. The vibes changed. Like, your mentals, when you're playing a sport, I'm telling you because I know that you don't know, is very, very important. He definitely fucked up the vibe. We went from like underdog, A, USA, Cinderella to like the whole world wanting us to lose because we cheated and got a player back that we should have got.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Yeah, I think it like kind of took away the grit. Yeah. Of the day. Is the, so the U.S. is out now? They're out now. Lost to Belgium. 4-1. 4-1.
Starting point is 00:44:38 4-1. It was brutal. Everyone was mocking Trump afterward because you could tell that like the players felt like this was all just fake. Oh my God. Is this like Trump was like the narcissistic parent who's like I, you got my babies are good. Like he like took their dignity away. Yeah. It's like you know when you're a parent, you have to allow your children to fail and you have to allow them to find their own solutions in life sometimes without interference. Right. And I think he was a narcissistic. narcissistic interference. Also, this is soccer. There's always going to be things that happen that you don't agree with.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Like it was most people didn't think it should have been a red card. That happens all the time. It's not like this is the first time it's happened in history where people are like, that's not a red card. Should have just shut the fuck up amongst other things you should shut the fuck up about. But yeah. But it was kind of cool, though, too. What?
Starting point is 00:45:31 It's like, take it back. No, that's like, nobody's done that, though, no? People have done that in history. people have petitioned to have, I think, like, in the 1960s, that was like the last night. Yeah, 1960. He's like, it's time again. It happened before. I had a long time ago. Yeah, like in the 1960s.
Starting point is 00:45:50 We do have a game prepared for you guys. We have a game of Jenga, specialty game of Jenga that has truth and dares on the bottom of there. Esther, of course, does not care. The table is bouncing. What is it on the, what is it on the bottom? It's a dare. All right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:05 I transfer my dare to Jenna. Okay. Okay. You can transfer it? You can transfer? Mr. just made that up. Oh. Can all dares go to Jenna?
Starting point is 00:46:15 Sure. It's your show. Yeah, absolutely. It's my show. Jenna. Recreate the love scene with anyone in the room from the notebook. So I have to say words. We got a script for you.
Starting point is 00:46:26 Acting. Okay, hold on. No, Jason. Your, um, your. Amawa? You're Noah. But I, I read slow. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:46:34 All the better. You know what? Noah is a red slow too. Oh, good, good. Perfect. Perfect. Okay, so I'm Ali. I don't remember any of this. Okay. Why didn't you write me?
Starting point is 00:46:44 Why? Why? Oh, sorry, sorry. I'm still talking, Noah. My bad. That's my bad. It wasn't over for me. I waited for you for seven years. Seven years. And now it's too late. Long pause. I wrote you. 365 letters. Pause.
Starting point is 00:47:06 I wrote you every day. every day for a year. God, you guys. Is that good? So good. You wrote me? Yes. It wasn't over.
Starting point is 00:47:24 It still isn't over. I think that's the scene. Wow. Wow. Wow. Good thing we didn't book that. Was that good? We were good.
Starting point is 00:47:38 What the best. Yeah. Okay, who's next? Obviously, you've never played Jenga. Yeah. Jenna. Is that the rule, no? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Okay. Draw a picture of the person to your left. We have a little notepad for you. Oh, no. You just got to go just the nose. No, because it's going to look bad. So you're calling her ugly. No, I'm calling me not talented.
Starting point is 00:48:04 And I'm a Sharpie. Colila, I'm sorry. I had no idea. She thought you were ugly. Those are some thick lines. Now we know. I'm lying bitch. Put her in her hot fucking cage right now.
Starting point is 00:48:14 While we let Jenna draw, should we have Collila? I would just like to say I'm not good at drawing. Here's letting her skip the joke. Okay, I guess I'll do the side view because that's all I can see. You can't poke through your women and then. I don't know. Oh, a dare. A dare.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Let me see my dare first before I pass it on to Jenna. Sure. What are you? You're still only on the hair? Girl, this is a podcast. We are done in five minutes. The dare that you pulled was to give a lap dance to anyone in the room. Oh, that's for Jenna.
Starting point is 00:48:49 No, no thank you. I'm busy being an artist. Actually, you know what? Can you look to the side again? I'm trying not for you to get in my profile. Let's check it with Jason. You didn't even do a lap dance right now while I'm drawing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Yeah, while you're drawing. You have to give me a lap dance. Esther. I'm going to eat my beef. This is fully falling apart. This is horrible. Refund. Refund.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Red card. Ew. Baligans on the dance floor. Oh, my God. Did you practice this? Wait, do all women know how to do a lap dance? I think so. Wow.
Starting point is 00:49:33 I love that response. That was really good. Yeah, yeah, of course. of course of course. I need to see your side view because I already started drawing the hair to the side. We've moved on. And we've moved on from my portrait. She has to eat her beef and rice bowl.
Starting point is 00:49:47 I feel like it's going to come down on this next in May. Okay. You know? Like, we're close. I haven't even gotten to fucking go yet. You got to draw clicker right there. Are they all dares? There's a lot of dares. It's dare heavy.
Starting point is 00:50:01 Would you like a truth? No, I'll take a dare. No, I'll take a truth. I'll take a truth. I'll take a truth. So I don't have to get up. Oh, God. lips. What?
Starting point is 00:50:10 It's because you have big lips, but it's not coming out right. Without naming a specific ex, what was their most off-putting habit? And who is it? Who is this? Without naming. The whole name, government. We all know her exes. It shouldn't be too hard.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Off-putting habit. I'm usually the one in the relationship with off-putting habits, if I'm being honest. What's like a really off-putting habit of you? Of me? And then him. So two- two-truth. Two truths. that's not how this works
Starting point is 00:50:40 I don't do you know of an off-putting habit of one of your exes I yeah of course are you kidding me oh god yeah I know off-putting habit of your exes what say no no no no no I have the photo guys let me see let me see show it wait that's really good
Starting point is 00:50:58 yeah we see although why am I sunk in like right here I know because because we see it my lips are just like all the way out of here I guess I didn't want to listen, because you were talking about your nose, so I wanted to not make it big. And so I tried to put it in, but then it was too late. It's actually kind of pretty. Yeah, it's actually really nice. Can I see? Are you an artist?
Starting point is 00:51:20 No, let's look again. She's holding a banana. There's something to it, though. I like it. I like it. Okay. Esther? Would you prefer a dare, your next dare? I would like to see this one anyway. Okay, sure.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Okay. Can you sing your favorite Hamilton number? Yes. I actually am not a Hamilton fan, which I know. makes no sense but no one else is in the room where it happened the room where it happened the room where it happened look she knew it i was like the one thing i know thank you yes yeah it's a little too like popular for hamilton is incredible getting some nods from the cool girls in the back okay jena pull your it's your turn wait is it clila has left the show i'm so hungry we too i'm so hungry

I know. Can we try? Let's just try. He won't. He's never picked on my call. It's only because he's still sleeping.
Starting point is 00:52:45 If he does pick up, you guys got to have something ready for her to say. She's calling Bobby? He's never picked up a call. Say the British are coming. When the British are coming. What the fuck? Who can she call? Your dad? Oh, your dad. Your dad. You had a bad coffee today and you don't know what to do. Just be like, hey, you have choro. You have a lot of like diarrhea right now. What should you do? So you were pregnant.
Starting point is 00:53:09 Oh, no. Oh. Would he be happy or pass away? Happy or sad? If my mom picks up, I'm going to be so pissed. She picks up his phone all the time. Hello? It's like, no, I was calling my dad to speak to my dad.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Hello. That's really nice. Where is Poppy? Why isn't he picking up his phone? I'm calling you for a specific reason. I had a bad coffee today. What happened? Why don't take a coffee and not say that weren't that Esther
Starting point is 00:53:42 peeled an orange? Esther and also Esther peeled an orange finally. Oh my God. That means she's doing well. What? Yeah, Mom, this is a call just for Poppy. You won't understand it. You just got to listen and hold the phone. Oh, my God. How did her go? Esther, how did it go with your peeling the orange? Good, I'm healed.
Starting point is 00:54:04 She said good and she's healed. Oh, my God. Now taught to put a little I bet a big spabroof and... Oh, wait, Poppy. I gotta go. I love you. I love, goodbye. Bye. So, a couple weeks ago I called... Hey, Bobby. What's going on?
Starting point is 00:54:18 Hey, did I wake you? No, but what's going on? I got nervous and worried. Yeah, I didn't think you would pick up my phone call in 10 years. But I just want... 15. Just wanted to let you know... What, the English are coming? The British are coming. Oh, that...
Starting point is 00:54:36 You cut out. I want to let you know that the British are coming. You're so mad. I'm so scared. Where's my phone? What does that mean? Please edit my involvement of this hour. He's calling again.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't know what that meant. What? I didn't know. I'm just, I have blind spots in my house. What are you doing right now? I got up. I'm drinking a red pole with some music.
Starting point is 00:55:07 I was outside laying out a little bit. Wait, really? Yeah, and then I'm probably going to go, I'm going to shake first. I'm going to make a smoothie in my kitchen. Are you tanning naked or no? No, I don't have my asshole. Those are, but sometimes I'll pull it out and they push it toward the sun. Oh.
Starting point is 00:55:24 If you're pulling your asshole out, you probably have a hemorrhoid. Okay, am I on air? There's air in the world. No, I'm not being recorded right now. Then I can't lie. Yeah. I just wanted to tell you that you're handsome. No, no, I'm being recorded right now.
Starting point is 00:55:41 You're not being recorded, but you're on Trash Tuesday. Yeah, that's being recorded. You're so stupid. It was a dare, Bobby. Yeah, is the little gnome there? The Little Gnome is here, and Kalilis to my left, and Jason Cheny is to my right. Do you guys know each other? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Oh, I like that guy. Isn't he handsome? No. Oh. He looks like, remember that, like, Pixar movie Soul or something? Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah, he's like the Asian version of that black man. Is that good?
Starting point is 00:56:14 Is that good? Oh, I'm so focused. What would you laugh like that? He's mad that I'm laughing like that. Dang, he did you dirty. But very funny, man, and very kind. Well, Bobby, I miss you and I am so happy that you picked up the phone for me because I miss you and you don't ever text. He was a little gnome laughing.
Starting point is 00:56:35 Yeah, she's laughing right now eating food and it's disgusting. Well, tell a little gnome, I said hi, and tell Asian soul, I said hi. Okay, bye, love you. Love you. Love you. So this is, bye, love you, bye. So we have to wrap, but Jason, do you just want to pull one of those just for fun since you didn't get a chance to do it? Oh, he did do one?
Starting point is 00:56:55 Okay. Can someone do one from the bottom and see if it falls down? Oh, Jenga. There's another dare. They're all fucking dares. There's truth. Oh, I see two truths. Oh, there's two?
Starting point is 00:57:09 Two truth. Two truths and a dare. Jason, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that you had to be here today. No, this is the best. Really? Yeah. Because somewhere down the road halfway, I started to get hunger pangs and I was speaking, but all I get to think about was my ground beef.
Starting point is 00:57:28 So apologies, everyone. Yeah, you should eat the thing, yeah. Is there anything you wanted to talk about that we didn't get to? No, I like this is like, like sometimes it's nice to just listen. No, it's because it's like comfortable, you know. It's not like a crazy thing. Comforting. Well, thank you so much to our slugs for listening.
