Starting point is 00:00:03 Pickax. All right, well, hello and welcome to Mailbag episode. We are here this morning with, to start it all, some jingles. Are you going to be able to listen to jingles, Lulu? Maybe. All right, we've got five, believe it or not. Let's give it a go. Five jingles.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Five. What were you thinking? I was thinking I've got to get through this backlog of jingles. I was away for like a month. Oh, my God, okay, fine. This one is the first one. This is eight seconds long. It's called fart. MP3.
Starting point is 00:00:44 It's Triforcefart.m.p3. Yes, exactly. You ready? Three, two, one, play. Tryforce... That's it. Okay. Dude kept sending it.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Bumped it. Just bump in this one, like it was so good. You know, we had to. Sand the ball real low. Yeah. This is Triforcemetal. Why did you bother? This one's a minute long. You don't have to do a full minute.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Just get an idea of. Just get an idea of it. What do you say? Three, two, one. Play. Suicide, suicide. Nice. Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Okay. Suicide. This is great. I actually like this one. Yeah, it's a banger. Suicide. Suicide. It's good, good guitar work.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Because we hope also, she was a disgusting, so am I. I'm full of the hatred of others and myself. That was, honestly. It's a fucking bang-er, that one. That was, well, wow. Wow. I love that. Well done.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Yeah. You're a great metal singer P-Flex. Can I just say before we carry on with any jingles, I saw your whole Magic the Gathering video. Now, it was such a banger, P-Flex. Oh, thank you. P-Flex, I originally found, we originally, I think I originally saw you making the Dota MS Paint. Yes, the Dota-M-S-Paint era.
Starting point is 00:02:50 The EIRO guides. That was back in the day. And man, it's got all of those good memories. I love the fact that it's all hand-drawn and handwritten and there's no AI. Do you mean? It just feels so authentic. Thank you. And funny.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I did it yesterday. And real and genuine. You're too kind. I loved it. Sadly, it will get 12K views. More of that. It never does bits, unfortunately. But it's fun to do.
Starting point is 00:03:15 It's on Plex's channel. He basically just did like a 10-minute kind of take down of magic the gathering, which was very, very funny. Why, do you don't like it? Oh, I know I love it. I love it. No, it's the opposite. It's kind of like, you know, you know how you have to complain about the things you love.
Starting point is 00:03:30 It's all of that stuff, you know. It's great. It's really great. Thank you. Very funny. We can carry it with some jingles. No, no, no, I really appreciate it. That's very sweet of you.
Starting point is 00:03:41 It is really sweet of you. I wish you were sweeter to me sometimes. All right. Okay. It's fine. Are you ready? Yeah. This one is only 27 seconds long.
Starting point is 00:03:50 It's quite good. Three, two, one, play. Oh, this sounds nice. It's like Blink 182. Yeah. I love that. I thought that was really good. Yeah, it's really nice.
Starting point is 00:04:22 This one is a dot flak, literally. Wow. Harold gingle. These file sizes are too much for me to tell. What a great name, Harold jingle. The dot flack quality. This is Harold's jingle. He sounds like a reform donor.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Harold Jingle. Get him out. Get them out. Get the Browns out. Exactly. I'll take, did you give me $5 million? That's Harold Jingle. Are you ready to play this one? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:51 In three, two, one, play. Wow. Fancy. It's not, it's a jingle, not a symphony. This one's a classical musician. It's Harold Jingle for fuck's sake. Anyway, it just goes on like that. What would you use this music for, though?
Starting point is 00:05:22 It's like I fucking go into the ballet. You can put a board. It's technically good, but I don't know where I would use this music. No, it's very pretty. I feel like today's jingles have just killed the jingles forever. You don't want to do jingles anymore. The metal growling was all right. Sounds like it sounds like he's done with jingles, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:42 Wow, that's a shame. Well, people are like phoning it in. I won't upload this seven minute, third. A 13 affair. I'm not even going to post it. Well, now you got me intrigued, though. I know. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:05:55 It's a 16.5 megastity. 16.5 meg file, which means it will take an hour to download and Lulu's phone. Have you listened to it? Yeah, I listened to it. I skip through. There's no lyrics. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:06 It's just like pretty much the same metal chords over and over and over again. Thank you for sending it. Please don't ever send a jingle that's that long ever again. That's long for an album track, let alone a jingle. Most albums are. like a sting. Wouldn't touch that with a barge pole. It's too long.
Starting point is 00:06:23 It's too long. You'd have it at the last track, maybe. I think the longest song I've ever heard was the decline by No Effects, which was like 18 minutes long. And that is a good song, but it's very long. Like the whole album was just that one song. That was it. They just released it as a single.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And they were like, yeah, it's pretty much an album, but it was just one long song. So maybe he's going for that kind of thing. Maybe? Yeah. Maybe. Very repetitive. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:47 It's ridiculous. Yeah. It's too. They sometimes have like a really long track as like the final one on the album. Yeah. Harold Jingle, that was technically brilliant, but again, I don't know where I would use that. It's nice music, but I just don't know like where I would use it, you know?
Starting point is 00:07:04 We're thinking Jingles people, right? Jingles, like the metal. Little zingers or like, you know, music that you could use like in an intro, you know, like an Ink Spot song or like music that you could use in like a credit sequence or something. Like, those are the kind of things I'm thinking of when I'm listening to. Yeah. Not a certain minute. Back in the day, I used to have a load of music. And I would listen to like albums back to back to back, you know, like people used to back in the day. And you bought an album, you listened to it over and over again. And I remember one of the albums I bought had this like
Starting point is 00:07:36 30 minute track as like the track 10, right? And so it was kind of longer than the whole of the album put together. And obviously, I sort of put this album on repeat, but basically I just spent most of the time listening to this sort of weird ambient track 10 that was kind of very bad and experimental. And I just found it drove me really crazy. It got me angry, you know? I see. Did you guys ever hear the secret song on Nirvana's album, Nevermind, at the end?
Starting point is 00:08:06 After, I think it's at the end of the last thing, wasn't it? The last track, I think is. It goes, it does, do-da-da-d-d-d-try-force, that one. With an explosive fart. Yeah, no, it's like you had to, if you had the CD of Nevermind, you had to listen to the last song, and then you had to forward for 20 minutes. There was just like this big, long, blank lead at the end of the last song. And then there was a hidden song at the end of that 20 minutes,
Starting point is 00:08:35 and it was called Endless Nameless. And it was quite long, and it was just kind of like them jamming. But there's there's footage of them playing it like at concerts and stuff as well. Like I think it was meant to be a song and they never kind of formally made it into a song. But they have played it like at various points across their, you know, career or whatever you want to call it. I see. That's really good. You should look it up actually.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Is it kind of bad? It's kind of bad. But like a lot of Nirvana stuff, it was like, you know, like it was kind of bad but good, you know. Like it had all the ingredients that made the. their music so compelling in the first place, you know. There was that sort of lack of effort and mistakes and stuff, but people loved all those things about their music, you know? So it was good.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Bad and good. You know what I mean? Good because bad. I listen to Nevermind a lot. Right. I mean, I don't know. You've got to get on there. You've got to get on the secret song.
Starting point is 00:09:33 It's really good. All right. This is from Alex, from Halifax. That's from West Yorkshire, not Nova Scotia. Sorry, Sips, he says. We discussed famous people. Do you remember what Nova Scotia stands for? New Scotland.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Do I remember? You would say that. No, I don't remember shit. Anyway, let's carry on. Too you remember. What? MIT have a website with the exact list of most famous people. And their ranking appears, I'm looking at it now.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Their ranking is sort of, I can't remember quite how it is, but there's like a historical popularity index. Right. There is Wikipedia page views. So it takes into account your historical. popularity. So like, if you were talking about Peter Andre, it wouldn't take Peter Andre in 26 and compare him to like other people who would take Peter Andre in his prime whenever that was. Yes, because for example, one of the people is the Buddha. Buddha is number two. So they're not
Starting point is 00:10:28 going to be talking Buddha now. Although it is looking at Wikipedia views, Isaac Newton is listed as third. Donald Trump is in fourth place. Then Genghis Khan, Cleopatra, Mohammed. McGandy, Muhammad, the prophet Muhammad, is in number one. Mary is in ninth, Beethoven in 10th, Aristotle, Marco Polo, Elizabeth I, Plato, St. Peter, Homer, Mozart, Napoleon, Galileo. Hitler's in 22nd. Jesus isn't even on that list? Jesus is 28th.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Oh, right. He's 28th. Oh, my God. What? And Mary Curee somehow. The Pope is in 30th ahead of Copernicus and Caesar. What about Chris Waddle? Where is he on that list?
Starting point is 00:11:10 Well, this is just... Chris Waddle. I've lost all respect for MIT. Let's look for Chris Waddle. Linford Christie. Chris Waddle. Chris Waddle is in 48,269th place. I can't believe he's on there.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Wow. What about Linford Christie? Lynn, hang on. Linford Christie is in 85,2ndnd, place. And what about... Okay. How about this one? Donnie Wahlberg, not Mark Wahlberg.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Hang on. I'm looking up Lewis Brindley. Right. You're not on there. Donnie Walberg. Right. Lewis Brindley is not on there? No.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Donnie Warburg is 44,581st. What about PewDie Pye? What about Mr. Beast? PewDie Pye is 17,684. Wow. It's not bad. He's more popular than Linford Christie. Mr. Beast is not on there.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Oh, have I misspelled it? What's his real name? Jimmy. No. Fuckface. Jimmy, fuckface. Jimmy, fuckface. Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Well.
Starting point is 00:12:10 James, Jimmy Pace, Jimmy Hoffler. It's something beast. Barry Beast. Jimmy Beast. Brian Beast. Well, I can't find him on here. I'm sure he would be on here. Where's Michael Jackson?
Starting point is 00:12:22 Oh, Michael Jackson. He's in 460th place. Right, okay. Who wrote this list there on crack? Where's Elvis? Elvis. Let's have a look for Elvis. He's dead on the toilet mate, still.
Starting point is 00:12:34 224. They never moved them. They didn't want to touch the king. This is just ridiculous. You're not a fan. Ridic. Oh, no, we're a fan, we're fans. No, you're not a fan of the Pantheon project.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Oh, no, I'm not a fan of this list. No, I think it's wrong. Okay. Who would be your number one on there? My wife, I would put my life. You have to, so we can have fictional people, right? My wife isn't fictional. No, we can have Father Christmas.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Of course you can't have fictional people on there. It's only real people like Jesus on there. You can't have fictional people. It would ruin the whole list. Sherlock Holmes. I like it. Let's move on. Thank you, though, for that email.
Starting point is 00:13:16 All right. It irritated me. Like the jingles. God, I'm very irritable today. It's because you got the roofers in. So everything is pissing you off like more than usual. They have been banged so good today. Nice.
Starting point is 00:13:29 They've been banging, banging it right up. God, that's good to hear. That's good to hear. Are we still allowed to do like shoutouts? the podcast. Of course you can. Yeah, but I wouldn't, don't blow your load too early, because we might think of a different shout out later and then by then it'll be too late, you know? So like, just wait to the end of the podcast. Yeah, wait for the end of the, just so you can really wait for the end of the. Do you know what this reminds me of this, this whole
Starting point is 00:13:54 you better save it thing. Yeah. There is a game. There is a game that me and my mates used to play when we were younger. Right. And we'd be on long train journeys or we'd be hanging out somewhere for a long time. I'm talking a lot younger before we learn to be decent people. Okay. It's, It's called tens. Right. And you have to sit and watch an area like you're saying, right, this train carriage or this platform or whatever. And you watch girls go by or women go by.
Starting point is 00:14:21 And essentially, you have to pick one that you would marry. Right. And you have 10 women before you have to decide. So if you get as far as 10 and you haven't decided, you're stuck with number 10. And number 10 is invariably an old lady. So you've got to get out. Right. You've got to settle before.
Starting point is 00:14:38 before you lose it all. Yeah, that one. I'll go for number four. So you have to marry someone in the next 10 women, basically. Yes, yes. Essentially, that's tens. Tens. And obviously, sometimes an absolute babe will go past everyone's like, well, game over.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I mean, that's that. And sometimes you get in the word seven, and you're like, all right, fine, yeah, I'll take her. And then, you know, a model walks past. It's like that. It's incredibly driven up. You got really lucky when you found your wife then, honestly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Because she was number 10. It was close. I know. I could have got married to her grandma. She was number one. She was absolutely number one. All right, here we go. This is about breakfast being the most important. Absolutely, she still is. Breakfast being the most important meal of the day. Exactly. So I joked that it was alive by Big Breakfast and Mr. Kellogg's, right?
Starting point is 00:15:24 Apparently, I was correct. The phrase was first coined in a 1917 Good Health magazine article by John Harvey Kellogg himself. It is absolutely one of his evil ploys. to get Mr. Kellogg also spread the myth that circumcision is better for you and is the reason 80% of Americans are circumcised because he believed the loss of sensation would stop people from masturbating
Starting point is 00:15:44 and therefore committing a sin. So yeah, he was a nut. So there you go. Any time you eat in Kellogg's, just think about the fact you're not meant to be having fun and you're not meant to be jerse. He was a honey nut.
Starting point is 00:15:53 He doesn't want anybody jerking off. He doesn't surprise me. Honestly, that, you know, this kind of shit's happening nowadays. You know, people are promoting their crazy shit and, you know, we all think we're too smart to fall through. I feel like I could get to the point where I could make other people jerking off a big sort of focus and feature of my, you know, my agenda.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Political career. Yeah. I would love to eventually get to the point where I'm just so like. I would like just imagine a world where nobody better be jerking off in there or else, you know, like you're getting so mad thinking about it. Anti-jurking. You're an anti-chair I thought of the other way around.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Not one now, but I would like to become one just to try it out. Just to change it up a little bit. I'm so pro-jurking off right now. So what's your anti-platform? What are you leading with? Well, I don't know. I haven't really thought it out that much.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Well, think about it. You can't say I really want to be something and have given it no thought. Tell me more. Come on. Sorry. I'm still clear whether you're pro or anti-jirking off things. I'm currently pro, but I'm going to
Starting point is 00:17:01 develop myself. into ante because I want to do a U-Term. I don't want to live this life only being pro jerking off. I want to, I want to have some balance in there. He wants to see both sides of the coin. I want to see both sides. Oh God, do you're like one of them
Starting point is 00:17:15 both sides of the armed gay Republican politicians who are just as bad as each other. He's secretly gay. Yes. Uh, you wish none of us should be jerking off. It's disgust him. Yeah. Watching each other jerk it is even worse.
Starting point is 00:17:29 It's so bad. All right. This is from Will. Watching another man jerking off while I'm jerking off is disgusting. God. I got to stop doing it. I wish I could stop. I wish somebody would stop me.
Starting point is 00:17:44 I wish Mr. Kellogg would come back to life and stop me. Oh, man. This is from Will. A year ago, I emailed in asking for advice about how to deal with a potential stalker who had a grudge against me and my girlfriend. I'm still with my girlfriend, and this year we're going to university. However, I come seeking your wisdom. I'm worried that at uni we will drift apart,
Starting point is 00:18:05 or that she will find someone better. We're going to different unis, but we're both in Manchester. In truth, I'm deeply insecure about myself, which I have never been able to shake. It's not that I don't trust her, just that I expect her to find someone better. Look, well, I think this is quite common to be worried that you're not good enough for your partner,
Starting point is 00:18:22 but you've been with your girlfriend for a while now. If she decides that she's done with you and find someone better, nothing can prevent that. It's not like you can just say, well, you have to stay in this comfort, find areas so that you're never exposed to other people. You just have to still be a cool boyfriend and if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. That's it really. What is this man's name? Tell me his name. Will. Will, listen up, Will. You are on the good
Starting point is 00:18:46 side of this, right? You don't, you want to be with someone that you want to make an effort to keep with you. You don't want to be with someone that is on the other side like coin, right? You don't want to be with someone who you feel like you're, you're too good for them or whatever, all this nonsense, right? You're feeling the right thing, being concerned and caring and loving of a person. This is what a relationship is.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Both people should be mutually concerned for one another. And if you think she's planning on leaving you for some reason, then that's nothing to do with you, really. You can't really control that. So just do your best. You just have to do your best. Keep your pecker up.
Starting point is 00:19:29 You just got to hope you got to hope you got to do your best and you got to hope that your partner is also doing their best to keep it, keep it alive. You know, like, but but don't force it at the same time, I would say. I would say naturally the two of you should be up for keeping the relationship going and staying like, not like faithful to each other and, and, and, and, and, and, and interesting. in each other, like, you know, you'll speak probably every day I'd imagine and, and catch up and see how things are going and stuff. But I think that, like, if you're, I think if you're too, um, in, in your own mind about it, um, you don't want to be, don't want to come across as the person who's like constantly worrying and, um, you know, that ain't sexy. You know what I mean? Like, I think, I think, I think it's, it's a lot of on the other person. If you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're
Starting point is 00:20:24 coming across like that and you're doing it, it's going to, it's, it's not good on the other person either. You know, it's not good for you and it's not good for the other person either to be like that. You know, you've got some things you just have to let go of and just do your best to keep it, keep the ship afloat, I guess. And, um, and just hope that, um, that your partner is, is also as interested as interested as you are in keeping things going. And then it should end up okay. And if it doesn't end up okay, well, you know, you live and you learn, I guess. Like it sucks, but, you know, it's not not the end of the world either, right? Shouldn't be?
Starting point is 00:20:59 Indeed. Indeed. You've got yourself. All right. You got your. That was a very. You got yourself a serious answer there. We could have made jokes.
Starting point is 00:21:06 We could have been like, you know. No, no. It's a young lad's relationship. Yeah. I'd say the same thing to my son. I would say, just be yourself, do your own thing. You know you're a good person. And hopefully the person that you're with is also a good person and you both want the same
Starting point is 00:21:21 things. We're not going to joke about the, you can't, you can't force anything, you know, if something happens, it happens. But you just have to be able to, you know, learn from it and move on. I would say, I would say one thing is that she is absolutely going to get railed by all the other lads on her course, but just put it from your mind. Just don't worry about it. Don't think about it. And you'll be fine. All right. One thing you could do is every time you think that she's getting railed by somebody, go out and rail someone yourself. And that should It's like a railing escalation.
Starting point is 00:21:51 That should help. It's like World War. It's like World War III. That should definitely. There you go. Problem solved. Eye for an eye. Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:21:57 This is on the subreddit. This is turning off auto-generated chapter titles. Lewis, I don't know if this is something, or maybe if Tom listens to this, whoever uploads it will know. Apple Podcasts has started adding AI generated chapter titles, which obscure the title of the episode. Can we turn them off? There you go. Sure. We'll give it a go.
Starting point is 00:22:14 I mean, again, I don't think we have, I think we just have a platform that uploads to Apple for us. And also, if you're listening on Apple, sorry. Maybe that's just your bad luck, mate. What? Gosh. Well, there you go. Maybe we should get a better phone. Okay. You know what? I don't want to get a better phone. I was watching this thing on TV today. And people snatch the phone right out of your hand where you're walking down the road or whatever. So my way around this is to make sure that I have a really shitty phone so that when they're driving by, they think twice. They're like, oh, fuck. Is that like an iPhone one? Well, this is a really good idea.
Starting point is 00:22:51 And then I have to run down the road like, please take it. Like, you know, like I feel like, shit, why aren't they taking my phone? This thing is that you can, you could extend this to your life. You can have a really shitty front of your house and driveway. Yeah. You could have a really shitty. There's a common. This is a really common amongst you.
Starting point is 00:23:07 There was an old mafia boss who used to walk around the streets in like a bathrobe and slippers. And everybody thought like, oh, he's lost it. He doesn't know what he's doing or whatever. But he was like one of like the most brutal. like mob bosses ever. Like it was just, it was all affront so that people wouldn't bug him or try to arrest him or whatever. But in the background, he was like, he was like one of the most like brutal and effective ones of the law. So what that guy in the wire is based on.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Which one? The drug ripper guy from he walks around in his fast-roven stuff. Oh, that's Omar. No, he's, he was like, he was like a vigilante. He was, he was like, he was like, he was like a like the hood's Robin Hood, wasn't he? He used to steal drugs from the drug lords. And then he used to help out like old grannies and stuff like that. Yeah, he was like Robin Hood.
Starting point is 00:23:59 This is from Noah. As I'm sure you've all heard, Dolly Parton passed away. It's true. Very sad. What? Yeah. I was born and raised in northeast Tennessee where Dolly partner is from. I didn't even know she was sick.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Wait, you didn't know Dolly Parton died? He's been having a lot of roof work done. and he's been in his garage with knowing it's an old norm it's an old norm, MacDonald joke, carry on. All right, where her Dollywood theme park is located. For us Tennesseans, this is like the Queen passing away. While a lot of people know her for her country music and acting career, she was such a charitable person.
Starting point is 00:24:31 She started the imagination library, which guaranteed kids' books to read and helped back the COVID-19 vaccines. We don't need to glaze Dolly Parton on this podcast. I'd happily glazed Dolly Parton. I'm a big fan. She's fantastic and gorgeous. She was a genuinely good American.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah. So that could be said. All right, here's another one. We're moving on fast. This is from Max. About a year behind on episodes, and Flax mentioned early internet memes, including Charlie bit my finger,
Starting point is 00:24:59 which obviously we have spoken about. It reminded me of a little fun bit of trivia. The dad who recorded that video plays Dota and is tangentially connected to a group of friends I know, and I have played Dota with that guy. I don't speak to him regularly or anything, and I don't know him that well. Unsurprisingly, I'm pretty sure he's loaded
Starting point is 00:25:15 because they sold an NFT. when that fad was popular through a few years back. So they did some kind of Charlie bit my finger at NFT. Right. Apparently. Well, loaded. I don't know. I don't know much can you get for an NFT.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Okay, Lewis. Come on, eh? Yeah, sorry. Maybe he's loaded. That's fun. What a small world, it is. You know, it's nice to bump into people that you know, isn't it? It is.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Yeah. I bumped into a couple of people while I was away on my holy bobs in the UK. I have an email from one of them. Oh, okay. Let's hear it. On a ferry, he bumped into someone on a ferry. Yes. One of them on the ferry, yes.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Yep, yep. I had an email. It's from, I think her name was Lily. Let me check. Wait, don't. Bit, bit, bit, yeah. Don't. It's from Lily.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Okay. Just met Sips on the boat to pull. Couldn't say I had a tiny penis for I was at work. No. He was buying cakes with his children. Yes. Many apologies from me. And so Lily was thinking hard about.
Starting point is 00:26:11 No, it was nice to meet you. And she did say at the time, I've got something to say, but I better not say it. And I thought, oh, I wonder what it could be. And then I realized, hang on a second. I know exactly what she wants to say. But it was nice to meet you.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Thank you so much for serving us some cakes on the boat. There you go. Well, well done, Lily. Very professional. Yes. Wow. Respect for to do that job. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I just find it crazy that people still, after all this time, you bump into people and they're like, hey, are you sips? Well, I used to. watch your stuff when I was 10 and now I'm 55 years old and you're still around. You know, like you meet, you still meet people out there and they say these things to you and it's nice. They sure do. It's very heartwarming. Yeah. They sure do. Thanks. Yeah. I would not work on the jersey to pool ferry though. My God, that must be right, bump your eyes. Yeah, but I think you probably, you must get used to. Lily, if you're listening to this, maybe some insight would be appreciated
Starting point is 00:27:11 in your next email. If you work on the ferry, because we had a really smooth crossing. going over. And I'd say that on the way back, the crossing was pretty smooth as well, but my, my youngest was a little bit sick, like just, you know, maybe like an hour into the voyage, because it was a little bit bumpy. But I feel like if you work on a ferry a couple of times a week, you probably just get used to it, right? Like, I feel like if I worked on a ferry, my first like week or two, I'd probably feel sick all the time. And then after a while, I'd be like, you know, not getting sick. I would, I'd become hardened to it. Yeah, it's like, no. Maybe it's like sailors who come back to land and they can't deal with the not rocking.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Maybe. Yeah. And same with like, uh, with, um, airline, uh, crew. I feel like at first you'd be like every little like bump and dip and turbulence, you'd be like, oh shit. And then after a while, you just wouldn't even notice it. Because they look cool as a cucumber, right? When it's like super turbulent, I'm sitting there like, you know, crossing my heart, hope to
Starting point is 00:28:11 die, um, doing my last prayers. And I'm not even religious when there's like a little bit of turpour. turbulence and they're just like walking around serving coax to people and stuff. Like, they don't give a shit. So you must just get used to it after a while, right? I've often thought this because I'm, you know, really boring. Thoughtful guy. Just really boring.
Starting point is 00:28:31 When I'm not thinking about how people shouldn't be jacking off, that's what I'm thinking about. You must just get used to the turbulence on the bone and stuff, you know? This is from Nick. Now, this is interesting because this email is kind of a Dota crossover, but I'm I thought I'd read about it here because I don't know if I told you guys about this happening. So cast your minds back to 2022, there was a Dota event in Stockholm. I was one of the hosts for a change. I got to host the event.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Were you the host with the most at the time? No, Shiva was still the host. But I was the other host. You're a host with the second most? I'm the host with something. I wouldn't say the most. You had a bit in there. A sizable share, but not a majority state.
Starting point is 00:29:13 I'm the host with 10%. Let's put it that way. It doesn't have the same ring to it. It doesn't, but that's why I'm not the host with them. Get on with it. All right. Trying! A staff member was doing this DHL drop thing, which is a thing that Slacks has done at ESL events forever.
Starting point is 00:29:30 He wears this DHL outfit and he gives away prizes. And it was Keck's chocolate bars. You did that? And he was throwing them into the crowd. No, he did that. Oh. He's throwing them into the ground. Why didn't you do that?
Starting point is 00:29:42 Because I didn't do the... You could have been the host with the most if you'd done that. The host doesn't do these kind of bits. This is like a promotional sponsor. It's like a sponsorship thing. Yeah, I think DHS sponsors are making Jingle Jam last year. They do a bunch of these little things. So if you look, viewers, if you look up Sir Action Slacks, Sir Action Slacks, Skill Shot at the Major.
Starting point is 00:30:05 I've posted a link to the Reddit post here. I want you guys to watch this clip and then tell me what you think. You only need to watch about 15 seconds before you see the moment. Are you guys ready? Does it need volume? Yeah. Okay, you're going to have to describe it to me because... Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:19 So... Oh, my God, you just hit him in the head. I'm the audience. So, Slacks... I can't... What's happening? Okay, so Slacks is down there on the floor. This is between games, and he's throwing chocolate bars and stuff to the crowd.
Starting point is 00:30:32 And he threw some of them near the production desk, and the production crew was like, don't throw any more chocolate bars over here. You might hit some equipment. So at the very end, he says, all right, here we go. Top row, and he goes to throw a chocolate bar on the top row, disc a stuff. He turns 108 degrees and flips it, but instead of going miles in the air, he just domes a lad who's about five meters away. Now, this lad, Nick, is the one who's emailed in. And he's got a picture of himself.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Tiny penis. With Slacks. I've posted it here. Here's Slacks looking apologetic. In the hospital. Yeah. So I've actually seen two views of this because I was laughing so hard. We were down in the green room watching.
Starting point is 00:31:15 this and I died laughing and kept watching it, I just couldn't stop laughing. And one of the sound guys on the floor ran over to me. He was like, I got an even better view. I was right next to him when it happened. Here you go. And so I've seen like two or three different, it never ever fails to make me laughing. Man, that's so fucking funny. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah, it's so good. It's the way he goes, here we go. Tap up and then just bang, doze this guy on the chocolate bar. And the whole crowd goes, ooh, like that because he really hit him. Oh, it's so good. This message is sponsored by Raycon. Hello chams. If you need a pair of headphones, I'll be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I would recommend the Raycon Everyday Earbud Classics. They have active noise cancellation. Perfect for blocking out distractions. Living in London, that's very important to me. When I'm walking the dog, I can have my podcast or I can have some tunes going as I walk through the beautiful autumn leaves enjoying life. They're our sponsor for today. And they are a cracking pair of earbuds.
Starting point is 00:32:16 They are packed with upgrades. Active noise cancellation, like I said. Multi-point connectivity, so you compare with two devices at once. And this is, let me tell you something, these bad boys will connect. I've never had a problem with the Bluetooth on these things. They're excellent. And the battery lasts bloominages, and they're very comfy, even if you've got weird, big ears like me. They deliver the same premium audio quality as the big brands, but at half the price.
Starting point is 00:32:37 They've got over 3 million happy customers. You could be one of them. Up to 32 hours of battery life with the case. That is crazy good. Quick charge function, so 10 minutes of charging gives you about 90 minutes of playtime. I've been using these pretty much every time I walk the dog, which is about three or four times a week. They're the ones I reach for. I think they're great.
Starting point is 00:32:54 They're really, really good headphones. I recommend them. The everyday AirBud classics are the perfect companion for you to walk your dog or cat or perhaps weasel or stote. Go to buy Raycon.com slash tryforce to get 20% off. Thanks, Raycon, for sponsoring our podcast. And now on with the show. This is from Jacob. He's talking about how, as culture changes, things that were once popular become antiquated.
Starting point is 00:33:22 And they eventually get replaced by something more profitable. For example, Roller Escape Rinks got replaced by trampoline parks and escape rooms. BlackBerry was replaced by Apple. Doormen were replaced by ring cameras. How many producer services can you name that have been replaced by something which is more profitable? Not just better, just more profitable. Do you think we're better off having access to these new conveniences? Would humanity be better off if we did not trade convenience for individualism?
Starting point is 00:33:51 I don't know if I would describe roller skate rinks as individualism. It's just a change in taste, didn't it? Yeah. BlackBerry was replaced by Apple because BlackBerry stuck with physical keyboards and Apple went with the touch screens. Did you guys ever have a BlackBerry? I was talking about this yesterday. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:05 I had one through work. We had like this big work contract and like anybody who needed a phone at work. We had like a server and everything. We got a Blackberry. And at the time, they were like, they were kind of good, actually. Like, because they had the full keyboard. You could like, you know, it was easier to like type emails and stuff like that. The physical full keyboard is way better than the little screen keyboard thing on like newer phones.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Because I just fat finger the typos are like out of this world. The movie. Have you seen the movie? Blackberry movie. I thought it was really good. No, I haven't seen it. With Glenn Howerton in it. No.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. I got a kickout for it. I don't know why the guy who's meant to be the old guy is actually quite a young guy and they just put grey at his temples to make him look old. It was really weird cast. He didn't look like a fully grown man at any point. It looked like some child had wandered in to these meetings.
Starting point is 00:34:56 That was weird. And also the guy who directed it, I think he does some web series stuff. He has like, he always has like a, I don't know how to describe it, like a sweat band around his head with his hair sort of heaped up on top of it. And every time he was on screen, he gave himself like a really lingering close-up for no reason, because I think he directed it as well. It's really strange. When you've seen it, the way that film is edited is very, very, very, very odd.
Starting point is 00:35:21 It is weird. I had some good moments. I think there's a whole bunch of things have changed our culture in terms of nightclubs have been replaced by dating sites, you know, and things like this, right? And the internet has completely changed how, I mean, like, even like shopping, in store before deliveries being so prevalent, you know, having self-checkouts, you know, that's automation. It's pretty basic stuff, but it's like, it's had a profound effect on how we interact
Starting point is 00:35:53 with the world, for sure. Yeah. Everything changes the world. But then again, we are in a physical world and we still need someone to clean our windows. Some of us live in a physical world. I prefer to inhabit cyberspace. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Are you surfing the information Super Highway like every day? I'm surfing the net. I don't know what that music it is, but I love it. You should do a jingle, Lewis. You're always criticizing them,
Starting point is 00:36:25 but where's your jingle? Yeah, you know what? Here's your little project for next week, Lulu, right? It's a jingle. Yeah, when you're on your chat, GBT and blender and stuff like that, why don't you do a jingle?
Starting point is 00:36:35 None of that shit. No, no, no, none of that shit actually fucking makes you. one. Don't use AI, you little bitch. Yeah. No,
Starting point is 00:36:41 I'm not going to use generative. I might get AI to tell me how to make one. Oh, you don't need, no, no, no, no, no. No, no.
Starting point is 00:36:46 No, no. No, but I'll use my own choice of what goes. Whatever they do now. You got to use your... Vibe coding is using chat GPT. Is it? I always thought it was just like,
Starting point is 00:36:58 you know, like, like, uh, like, like, like, like, doing your own thing, you know, like just like seeing where the day takes you. That's what it sounds like.
Starting point is 00:37:04 And then actually... So, so the people who vibe code don't know how to code? No. Of course not. Oh, man. No. All of this vibe, vibe just means get AI to do it and pretend he hired a whole hundred vibe code is for his startup and it turns out. Yeah, I thought it was just going to be people who just kind of like, like fart around and do their own thing and
Starting point is 00:37:25 eventually get around to doing something, yeah. No. There's no such thing. You can't, I wouldn't want anyone vibe anything in my anything. Right. Do you know what? No, I don't I would neither, but I just misunderstood. Sorry. I mean, it's not... Bitch don't kill my vibe. Bitch don't kill my vibe. This is from Holly.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I love the way Pyrion says little. It's so cute. I don't know how else to describe it. Any words you guys like to hear each other say. I don't say little. Holly is from Guernsey. That's where I get my shopping from Lillard. Ler.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Guernsey is superior to Jersey, according to Holly. Okay, Holly. Are there any words that we like to hear each other say? Yeah, Guernsey sucks. That's one that I would expect both of you to say right now, actually, to make me feel better. Come on, come on, no.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Guernsey, suck. Thank you so much. I'm not into either. I couldn't comment. Jersey. Yeah, Lewis has been to Jersey? I'm taking a, I'm taking a stand. Why have you not come to Jersey yet?
Starting point is 00:38:24 I'm getting ahead of it. You've got to get out here, bring the family. You're missing out. Why the fuck would I want to go to the tax Xal for retirees? There's nothing there. Oh, there's other banks. There's loads of banks. And there's that, there's, there's, I've already forgotten her name, Liz on the ferry.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Liz on the ferry, yeah. Come over. Lily. Come over. Come over. Take the, take the pool to Jersey ferry for the full experience, flex. You won't regret it. Bring your car. I don't know what's there.
Starting point is 00:38:50 I mean, what would we do? We go camping. There's the Nigel Mansell Motor Museum. There's the Nigel Mansell Motor Museum. That sounds awful. They have a, there's a restaurant. We could go to a restaurant. There's a restaurant.
Starting point is 00:39:04 We're going to a restaurant. Lauddy da. There's a beach. There's an arcade. We usually go to the arcade, don't we see? Is that still local? There's a similar to Le Mose-C-Michel. There's a tidal accessed castle here where when the tide is up, you cannot access the castle, but when the tide is down, you can walk to the castle.
Starting point is 00:39:24 All right, hold on, let me have a look. I'm going to go on Google Maps and look around. What's the nice part? Is it Hill Street? Hill Street? That's just a street in town. No. like grougey or grouche what's it called grueville uh grueville yeah i'm looking it looks like uh just
Starting point is 00:39:41 a small sort of french influenced town yes it's got a castle as well it's got it's called it's gory castle gory always good yeah it's old a real real old one i'm looking i'm looking here two there's two very big castles here um for you know it doesn't look too bad for it's it's nice for that do you like old stuff i do like I think you like a British, there's a lot of old German bunkers here as well when it was occupied in World War II.
Starting point is 00:40:11 You know what? Maybe we're going to do. Jersey is perpetually sort of 20 years behind. You could get a pretty, you could get a pretty cheap flight over. It takes like half an hour on the plane, 45 minutes.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Flight? Yeah, yeah. You got to use Logan Air now. Logan Air is. Logan Air has moved in. Is that Logan Paul's airline? No, no. It's Scotland's airline.
Starting point is 00:40:33 You feel it. Yeah, guys, we're going to do an extreme flight to Jersey. Oh, come on. These guys don't know what's coming. Logan Harris, Scotland's airline. Let's jerk each other off. All of the seat upholstery is all in Tartan as well. It's incredible.
Starting point is 00:40:46 You love it. Well, I'll think about it. This is from... Lindsay Graham made that illegal, by the way. This is from a listener who tells me I'm wrong about grilled olives. Yeah. You'd mentioned restaurant, so I thought about food. Lewis mentioned eating grilled olives.
Starting point is 00:41:01 Imperians seemed to be having none of it. Like it was some new kind of new AI slop trend. Grilled olives is probably one of the best ways. Like do you buy chocolate. To eat olives. Enhances the flavor and makes them spreadable. Muffolettas are incredible. I don't know if that's a related.
Starting point is 00:41:15 I don't want my olives to be spreadable. You can grill them. It's an ancient Aegean tradition of Greece and Turkey is not a new thing. Muffolettas. That's my poor name. Muffolietas. Muffoleters, maybe. Muffolettis.
Starting point is 00:41:28 Muffolettis. We're just moving on. I've got to get through with you. This is from Tyler. This is about weird eating habits, something we did a year ago and have moved on from, but I thought this one was worth reading. When I eat sweets that are individually wrapped, starbursts, fruit, teller, chewets, etc. I eat them whole, the sweet and the packaging together.
Starting point is 00:41:47 No. This is something I've done my whole life, especially as a child. In my opinion, the wrappers never really change the taste or texture. You don't get left with loads of wrappers you have to tidy up. The downside is you get sweet wrapper stuck in your teeth. That is bizarre. I would not. That is awfully bizarre.
Starting point is 00:42:03 That is really bad. You are full of microplastics, my good man. Your gutty works are going to be full of foreign agents. You don't want that stuff in. That stuff won't go away. Stop being chemical made. Don't eat the packaging. The only time you can eat some of the packaging is when you have your soup in a bread
Starting point is 00:42:22 bowl, a bowl that's made of bread. Then you can eat the packaging. And sometimes they've got that see-through plastic-y sweet stuff of your, ever seen that before. You can eat that too, but... Because it's just, it's actually just sugar. It's not even... Rice paper. Rice paper. Right, right, right. Right. Yeah, exactly. But don't get that. Don't eat plastic rappers. I mean, would you eat the wrapper on a Wurthas original? No, you wouldn't. You'd be insane. No, that would be an insane thing to do.
Starting point is 00:42:49 A box of celebrations. You're not going to eat the rapper. No, in their defense, though, I think the the ones that they're talking about are more papery. It's a wax paper. It is a wax paper. It is a wax paper. But I did see there was a guy, a lot of people apparently do mistake and eat the wax off the baby bell, assuming that it can. That's also really gross. Why would you eat the wax off the baby?
Starting point is 00:43:16 There's a little tag to peel it. There's a peeling tag on there. So stupid. And the wax would not taste good either. You want to get that sweet cheese in the middle. You don't want to eat the wax. Yeah. It's just, just, man, I love baby bells, by the way.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Like, I eat like, a. Baby Bell a day pretty much. I'm loving baby bells. They're so good. One a day? God, go easy. I got to. It's the only thing that prevents me from jacking off illegally.
Starting point is 00:43:42 So it's imperative that I eat one a day. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. This is from DJ. We were talking about Reader's Digest a while back.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Do you remember when we talked about Reader's Digest? Yeah, we were talking about Readers Digest recently. And we were like, who the hell reads it? So I work at a company. that prints magazine bills. And in episode 362 of the pod, you were talking about how people used to read Reader's Digest on the toilet. As someone with a little inside knowledge about the remnants of the magazine industry,
Starting point is 00:44:10 I thought I'd share a few tip bits with you about what's left of magazines. Every month, we print and mail upwards of four to five million bills for magazines. Wow. I'm not 100% sure how many of these are genuine customers versus people who got subscribed by mistake, but still, it was interesting to see how many people are still subscribed. We have these things called gift bills, and we'll run into people who are paying for upwards of 50 gift subscriptions for people. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:44:34 There's often in a talk being pastors paying for Christian magazines for their congregation or teachers buying science magazines for the whole class. Anyway, that's it. Do we have any questions about the dying magazine industry? I was looking at... I should know a couple of people who work in magazines. I was in T.G. Jones the other day. Do you mean W.H. Smith?
Starting point is 00:44:53 No, I mean T.G. Jones. It's been bought out by another company. I don't know why I was getting the too confused. They're wildly different. And anyway, so there I am in TG Jones on the high street. I think it was a strategic rebrand. Was it? No, it was not.
Starting point is 00:45:10 I think it was bought. They've been bought up by some private equity busted. Right. So anyway, there I am inside TG Jones on the high street. And notice that the magazine section is still massive. And I was surprised to see so many magazines still in regular print. Have you ever looked at them, though, because they are a very specific set of magazines. There was a whole role along the bottom, and it was like World War II tank, miniatures and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:45:41 It was like really specific. It's a very niche set of collectibles. It's a lot of stuff that parents buy their kids or dads do to play with their kids. And the other thing is I've noticed a whole, there's a huge amount of hobby stuff like or like decorating stuff. like country homes and interiors or like, you know, something living. And it's just kind of inspiration. Basically, most of the magazine is ads. But then there is a few sort of, I think people buy it to trying to get inspiration for their hobbies.
Starting point is 00:46:14 There's a lot of hobby related ones. Gardening. If you were into. Gardening magazines. Something like knitting or something. Maybe these areas are still quite comforting to have a little magazine on. Yeah. rather than doing it.
Starting point is 00:46:29 So I think certain niches have kind of kept these magazines alive because there isn't a place on the internet that has filled that niche effectively for that age bracket maybe. So yeah, it's fascinating what is on there. It's not what you expect. And it's certainly not what they used to be there. And the PC magazine market certainly really like crashed into the ground, you know. That's because you used to buy it for the fucking demo CD on the front.
Starting point is 00:46:54 That was a huge part. I loved it. I found out about so many games at demo disc. They used to get in like PC gamer or PCMag or whatever. Or PCZone. PCZone. Zone was a good one. A very quick one from Eli from Seattle.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Would like to add David Moey to the running for lawnmower names. David Moe is pretty good, actually. I will say that that is a great addition. I like that. I really like that. Yeah. If I ever get another one, that's going to be his brother. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:22 What have you gone for? Bernard Clippins. What about Marlon? For Bernard Clippins. What about Marilyn Munmo? Okay, that's right. Here we go. This is from Connor.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Just wanted to write in to say that the if in If I did it by O.J. Simpson is really small because when the Goldman family won the civil suit against OJ and he didn't pay, the courts gave them the rights to the book to help cover the money they were. Yes. They weren't allowed to change the name. So they redesigned the cover and they made the if look really, really small. There you go. Oh, wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:56 They ruined him in the end. They took all of his money. And then he had to resort to doing stealing and fucking robbing and shit like that. Yeah, he was like. I don't think a murderer who clearly did it should be allowed to just get away. Well, another thing that happened as well was after the whole thing, apparently nobody wanted anything to do with them whatsoever. So like all the places that he used to go golfing and used to go to restaurants and everything,
Starting point is 00:48:25 All these places didn't want him there. So he wasn't really able to just continue on like nothing happened kind of thing, you know. Good. He was canceled. He was canceled. He was the first major cancellation, I think. Yeah. Whenever you talk about AK-47s, Sips mentions that you can use one to shoot through a door.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Yes. What is he on about? Cheers from Little Willie. Why do you always say that? I don't know. I think I must have heard somewhere that they could. can shoot through a door, like, or they can't... Most guns like that could shoot through a door.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Yeah, well, I don't know. I don't know what the confusion is then. Like, if you're saying that most guns can shoot through a door, what do you mean? What am I on about then? I'm just saying a gun can shoot through a door. I mean, why a door? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:11 It's like just something I heard. It's like one of those things, you know? You just like, you hear something and you just, you repeat it. You know, maybe it's misinformation. I don't know, but it's just... No, no, it's just... Anytime somebody mentions AK-47, I just think, oh yeah, those things can shoot through a door, so I mention it.
Starting point is 00:49:27 But any gun could shoot through a door. Okay. So mention any other gun. I'll just say the same thing. Who fucking cares? It's funny to think that you're just like, you could shoot through a door with that. It's like apparently something you've said enough that this guy has noticed it. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Well, I think you can shoot through a door with that. That does seem like the kind of thing. That does seem like the kind of thing Omar would say on the wire, though, do you know what? Is it? And then he'd have one. And then he'd set up. Yeah, and a guy would come when he'd shoot him through the door. Can an AK-47 shoot through a door?
Starting point is 00:49:59 Yes, the answer is yes. Yes, an AK-47 can easily shoot through almost all standard doors because it fires a high-velocity 7.62-39-millimeter rifle round. 7.62. It possesses far more penetrative power than standard handguns or shotguns. So there, that's why I say it, because it's a fact. I'm just repeating a fact. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Fuck. Sorry for repeating a fact. An interesting fact that everybody loves to hear every time I mention it. Sorry. I apologize. What am I on about? And we all going to forget this whole conversation and mention it again again. Are we?
Starting point is 00:50:44 But now I'm going to be listening out for it. I am going to be listening out. All right. This is from Jay. It's like the fucking bath plug. I do not understand this email. And I'd love to hear your guys take on whether this guy is, I don't know, this is great. Let's see if it can shoot through a door.
Starting point is 00:51:00 In a somewhat recent episode, Pflax talked about his wife and younger kid going abroad and a vacation without the rest of the family. This is the weirdest and strangest shit I've heard in my entire life. Why? If my wife told me one day that she's going on vacation with just one of our kids and the other one and I can just get to fuck, I'd really start to worry about the healthiness of my marriage. Our family never ever even considered leaving half of the family members at home when we went on vocation, not even when they didn't want to come.
Starting point is 00:51:25 I know, but we get this a lot. We share little tidbits of our life and it always comes into question whether or not we're good parents and stuff because people compare us to their parents who did things differently and whatever. And it's it, there's no, there's no answer to it. There's no solution to it. Like, it's all, it's all kind of relative and very specific to the situation. You might have a kid that, one kid that's older than the other kid.
Starting point is 00:51:52 and that doesn't want to go on a vacation where they just do like little kid things they want to go and go to like Comic-Con or something like that where none of the little kids want to go to. Like there's a million perfectly good reasons why you would take one kid on a vacation and not the other ones
Starting point is 00:52:08 and then still have a family vacation later in the year, whatever. It's not that hard to understand. Exactly right. Yes, mic drop. That's perfect. Well done, Sip. It's really not that hard to understand. It's almost like you're bringing up people who all have different wants needs and desires and you're trying to balance that. And if your family didn't do that,
Starting point is 00:52:27 who fucking cares? Like everybody's family is different. Most of them work. Some of them don't. You'd find out if it didn't work. Flax is not divorced right now. So it's clearly working. You know, there's no, there's no, there's no, um, issue with the health of the marriage. They're still married now. So what? So what? What now? You exactly. No, you've nailed it. Sips. Thank you. Look, Jay. Look, thank you. I know vacations are holy and, you know, people are lucky to go on them and spend a lot of their, you know, you have to spend your work all day, every day for the man in that box factory. And you finally get time for your vacation.
Starting point is 00:53:09 And it's not like, you know, and if you got home and your wife and one of the kids had left you and the other, the shit one, back home, you'd be like, well pissed off. Yeah. Especially if you saw loads of pictures of her with, you know, that your friend. in the Bahamas together, and they're like drinking on the beach and posting about how it's a good time, and they're like splashing together. Yeah, that's a problem, obviously. But that's not what's happening here. I mean, the truth of it is, in all honesty, we take family holidays every year as a family. We just came back from one last weekend. We're going away in October for a little bit. Every year we've had a big family holiday. But now the kids are a little older.
Starting point is 00:53:48 It's 14-year-old and a 17-year-old. 17-year-old had some stuff on while because you've also got to think that we have to work around school holidays. My wife has to work around when she can take time off. We've both got jobs to do that sometimes you need to be here for something. You just took like a three-week vacation in China. Well, that was work. Basically, that's work. Vacation.
Starting point is 00:54:09 I mean, it was work. The point is, the idea that there's some kind of problem if you, I mean, I think the problem is that you feel you have to do everything in each other's pockets all the time. Oh, God, our marriage is falling apart is laughable. There's all kinds of reasons. My eldest wasn't able to go, and I thought, I'll stay home. Me and him will stay home. It'll be fun.
Starting point is 00:54:28 And they went away. It was only for a few days. What's the big deal? You guys are over-analyzing things that are definitely not worth analyzing. Over-analizing things that you don't have all the information for as well. Like there's a lot of information missing from what was given in that discussion, right? Like it's a lot of it. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:54:47 I think Jay was just asked, we've done it. No, no, no. Thank you. Next one. Let's move on. All right, here's this one. This is from Ray. Check this out, Sips.
Starting point is 00:54:55 Are you ready for this? Are you ready for this? This is on the Discord. I'm going to post it. There's a famous Aussie band called Amel and the Sniffers, or Amel and the Sniffers. I've heard of this, man. Both myself and my husband, yeah, enjoy listening to them. One day, you have your music shuffling on YouTube and a music video pops up and the husband bursts out laughing.
Starting point is 00:55:12 And this is why. This is one of the members of the band. Yes. Who's that? It's not me. I'm not in them. It looks like a long-haired Sips. It doesn't really, though.
Starting point is 00:55:22 I mean, I don't really look like that. I wish I looked like that, actually. To be a dad, stream and tour the world. That's pretty nuts. There you are. I wish I looked like that. I can't see this, but can you describe the picture? A picture of Sips, basically.
Starting point is 00:55:34 With way more here. Yes, yeah, and like a mullet. With that Aussie mullet, like a mullet. Yeah, I know. Oh, it's loaded. I see it. People, people. Oh, it's a young, attractive sips with,
Starting point is 00:55:49 okay. with a mole on his chin. Right. It's a beauty mark. It's uncanny. It is actually uncanny. This could be a picture from your youth. Well, maybe.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Wait, hang a second. Yeah, I suppose it could be actually. The same kind of, it's the eyes, right? It must be the eyes. Yeah, the eyes. For sure. Yeah, the eyes. I think it is.
Starting point is 00:56:09 It's like those slightly closed eyes. Amel and the sniffers? Amel and the sniffers. Amel in the sniffers, right. Yeah, like Amel nitrate. Right. Yeah, no, I've seen this. People have mentioned this before.
Starting point is 00:56:22 There's another one that people always mention. And I think it's from Finland. There's like a snack chips thing. And it's called Sips Mega Pussy. It's like you get them. It's like it'd be like a big bag of quavers, you know. But it's called Sips Mega Pussy. That one gets thrown around a lot as well.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Mega Pussy Crisp. There you, there they are. Yeah. So Sips. Oh, God. Oh, blimey. Don't do an image search on that. Gosh. The top result is the crisp and then it's a lot of, a lot of naughty pictures. Jesus Christ. All right. This is a mailbag question. I'll remember that for later. Thanks. That's just, that's just changed your SEO over it. It used to be big butts and big tits and now it's big pussy. Well, it can't be any worse.
Starting point is 00:57:10 Now it's mega pussies. You've got mega pussies coming up in there. When you're doing work for Dota events, do you have an agent that negotiates a rate view? No, we don't have an agent. Would you vow? Would you vow just offer a rate, blah, blah, blah. So this is a, so this guy is in further education covering creative media and wants to talk about how freelancers negotiate their rates. Well, it's not something that all of us can really discuss. It is, but it's a lot of this, a lot of the stuff that we do is like, it's, it's kind of like word of mouth and people that we know. You, you know somebody who knows somebody and then there's, there's not much negotiation that goes on, it's usually like they have an idea of what they're willing to pay somebody and then you either take it or leave it sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:57:51 But that's for you as an online creator. So that's for you, let's say they wanted you to do a brand deal or stream a game or something. So like you said, a lot of it is word of mouth or we go through like, we've got like agencies that we would deal with for that kind of stuff. Right. Yeah. And the white day work.
Starting point is 00:58:13 It's usually people that you know. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, we have an idea of how much we're worth. And like anything, they come in and they say, can you do this thing for this price? And if we don't really want to do it, we'll say no. If it's too cheap, we'll say, sometimes we'll say, can you give us some more? And sometimes they'll say no.
Starting point is 00:58:33 And sometimes they say yes. And it's a little bit like the same thing as you know, you get a builder's quote. And if the builder doesn't really want to do it, they might put the quote up high. So to make it worth their while or whatever. and if a client says yes, great, if not, whatever. It's just like everything. But I assume there is also an element, P-Flax with you, and you can correct me if I'm wrong, of A,
Starting point is 00:58:56 an understanding that you're going to be paid fairly for your work because you're working for a fairly high-profile person. And B, the sort of the idea that you don't want to risk going back to them and saying, can I get some more for this? Because they might turn around and say, oh, well, we'll get someone else. Yes. if they're not going to be on. You're relying on them coming back to you year after year,
Starting point is 00:59:18 so you're being a bit more careful. You're not going to dig your heels in about a price or whatever because you realize that the money's good. But if you had an agent, right, right, right. It's possible that the agent would negotiate on your behalf and say to Valve or whoever's employing you to do these tournament hosting. They would say, you know, is there, you know, P-Flex won't do this unless he's getting all of brown M-M's 10% of the take.
Starting point is 00:59:45 I don't need that. Because so like Sips said, there's a lot of communication with other people. So let's say an event comes up. We all have each other, like all the data talent that I know, we all have a WhatsApp group that we all chat in and we add each other. And we're like, okay, for this event, what are they offered you? And sort of we'll discuss so that you know if you're getting low-balled. And you can say, wow, this is paying great or holy shit, this is playing really badly.
Starting point is 01:00:09 you discuss it. So you have an understanding of what each other's day rates are for things. And that way, when you come to get offered a gig, you know that, because this is the thing, the company wants to pay you as little as they can get away with. If you talk to each other, and this is why I think this idea that companies have spread that discussing how much you make with colleagues, you should never do that. Of course you should do that. You should absolutely be finding out what your peers are being paid. Because if you're doing the same job and they're getting stiff or vice versa, you should absolutely know that. That's stupid that you get to that as a top secret. Oh, I shouldn't tell anyone. Yeah, you fucking should. People should
Starting point is 01:00:43 absolutely talk about how much they earn when they're doing the same kind of job. So we all do that. We all know, you know, what the good day rate is. Obviously, it's gone up over time. Do you guys get really pissed off with each other when you find out like... No, of course not. So-and-so makes more money than you and how is this possible and there's no justice in the world? I think you're stronger together, right, on all this. You know, it's in, yeah, and it transparency forces fair rates too. I mean, at the end of the day, I think there is a PR element to this
Starting point is 01:01:15 and that the organizations don't want to be seen as being cheap skates or, I don't know. Right. There's a reputational thing, right? And so if it sort of came out that this company had been massively underpaying their staff or whatever, it doesn't really help anyone. But, you know, I think there is an awareness, especially in small companies that they want to preserve their reputation. Certainly Valve are very hyper aware of that.
Starting point is 01:01:42 They're very, I think that's, like I said the other day, one of the main reasons we don't see them releasing games as much. Or at least I've seen quite a few games that they've cancelled. There's a couple ongoing, like Deadlock, you know. It's just sort of, it's like this really weird open secret that they are scared, maybe scared to release in case it has bad PR because the Steam is such a going to go. It's still going. Deadlock.
Starting point is 01:02:07 So I don't think that their game thing are not released them. They're not making deadlock in-house, though, are they? Or did they buy the team that are making it? Yeah, yeah, of course. Making it. No, no, no, no, they're making it. Ice Frog is making it. Like, it's his game.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Oh, right. I thought it was like a, I thought it was like the classic, a team is making a cool game. So we're going to buy the whole team. No, no. This is like a rare actual brand new IP from Val. They didn't bring in a mod or anything like that. Oh, but this was purely their thing. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:36 People have been playing it and talking about it for years, but it's like not out. Yeah, it's been out for ages. Yeah, it's weird. Yeah, it's weird. Anyway. I mean, it does okay, but I just think it's too complicated for the average gamer. Like, I play it and I'm like, this would take fucking years to get the hang of. Like, I don't know if I've got the patience for that.
Starting point is 01:02:53 What do you mean? It's being out for ages. It has been out for years. It's been out for a couple years. Deadlock. No, officially. You can just get it, right? It's still in alpha?
Starting point is 01:03:03 I don't know. I think it's still. It's not. not hard to get hold of a copy of Deadlock. We'll put it that way. Anyway, but it's not out. All right, well, can you play it.
Starting point is 01:03:14 It's not one point-0, but yeah, you can play it. You can play it. No, you can't. You can't play deadlock right now. You couldn't load up Deadlock and play it. Well, I could, but can normal people? Right. I know lots, yes, lots of people playing it.
Starting point is 01:03:28 Anyone who has Deadlock can give someone a DETA. It's that easy. Can my mum play it? Yes, if you have deadlock, you could give your mom. I have to know someone. I have to give it some... Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:03:40 Okay. Carry on. Oh, fuck me, I guess. Well, fuck me, I guess. Fuck me. I mean, I didn't know that. So, this is from Harry. What is the point in booking a seat on a train?
Starting point is 01:03:53 I live in Yorkshire and my partner lives in Suffolk. With this being a fairly long way, I travel to see them once a month via train. I've done this for around three years. And the number of times I've got the seat that I actually booked is maybe three times in the past three years. What kicked off this ramble is that this weekend, I went to sit in a different empty seat thinking, all right, whatever, I'll just sit in a different seat. Train stops at Grantham. I then had to move as I was in someone else's seat.
Starting point is 01:04:16 This made me think of how far the chain of someone sitting in someone else's seat goes. In this situation, I just stood by the door. It happens at cinemas all the time too. Go and say, excuse me, you're in my seat. It's not complicated conversation, is it? Like, people just sit down. They see the red light. They think, well, maybe I do this myself.
Starting point is 01:04:33 I'll see a seat. I'll sit in it. I'll think, well, they didn't get on at the station. It said they were going to get on at. So I'll just sit in this seat. And you could just go up and say, sorry, you're in my seat. Oh, I'm sorry, I'll move. What's the problem?
Starting point is 01:04:44 Just fucking have some nuts and tell them they're in the wrong seat. I know. I'm on his side too, in a sense that I'm scared to deal with the person who sat in that seat and deal with the faff and the fuss, especially if it looks like there's other empty seats nearby. You know, if you turn up into a train carriage and there's two people sat down in the entire carriage and you go over to them and you say, sorry, you're in my seat. You know, I'm not going to normally do that. I'll just sit down wherever.
Starting point is 01:05:11 But, you know, I think it's something that I struggled with. I used to struggle with more. And these days, though, having had that same experience as Harry, like being stood up. And actually now I'm a bit older. It's just annoying. And, you know, I'm not going to stand up next to the toilet for an hour on the fucking train that I've paid for a seat on, do you know, I'm just going to go in there straight away and be like, yeah, you're in my seat.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Like, sorry. Yeah. And if there's any question about it, just say, I'm not going to stand next to the fucking toilet on the fucking train when I paid for a fucking ticket. Okay. Oh, I hate sitting by the toilet. Yeah, same. We were on a French train one time, the whole family.
Starting point is 01:05:49 And we were sitting next to a toilet. And the whole trip that we were on the train, there were two, they were definitely going in there to do drugs because the guy came out and got really ill. stop the train and then like the paramedics had to come on because I think he'd like almost overdosed or something but like that they were this was happening in the toilet on the train that we were on and it was a real eye opener and and has now made it so that I will never have a seat next to the toilets on the train ever again if I can help it is the worst the worst seats that you can get for sure yeah it's so bad yeah I should be I should be using first I've never really
Starting point is 01:06:33 ridden first class from when I sat down once in there because the rest of the carriage was full and I just hoped they wouldn't kick me out. Do I mean? I really should. How much is it to go first class on these trains? Oh, it's like $3 million.
Starting point is 01:06:47 Yeah, it's $3 million. Yeah, just off the top of my head. It's really expensive to just like a fucking regular train. Yeah. Just fucking walk. It's cheaper. Just walk to London. Won't cost you a percent.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Yeah. Well, that's that. Unless you want to hear about drive-through coffee boobs. Yes. One more for the road. I beg your pardon? I'll tell you. Big fan, long-time list of Seattle, Washington.
Starting point is 01:07:10 Out of all the time Seattle has been mentioned, I'm surprised no one has brought up or told you guys about our own little piece of unique cultural expression drive-through stripper coffee shops. Across most of the Pacific Northwest, drive-through coffee stands remain one of the most popular places to buy hot and cold coffee, probably outnumbering Starbucks by three times,
Starting point is 01:07:28 and what we'll see. But those unfamiliar, these are small shacks housing one or two employees, usually residing in parking lots off of a major road, and they produce mildly better coffee than traditional storefront coffee places. They're very convenient. However, a good portion of them are colloquially known as bikini espresso.
Starting point is 01:07:43 The only difference with the bikini espresso is that the girls are scantily clad, the windows are tinted, and the primary customer base are 40-year-old perverts. Oh, and the drinks are usually twice as expensive. So there you go. A 40-year-old pervert. I feel targeted. Yeah, same. What about my group?
Starting point is 01:07:59 What about 50-year-old perverts? Huh? No one think of us? No, please don't think of us. So there you go. If you wanted to get a look at some fake boobs and a cup of coffee, you could head up to the Pacific Northwest. Isn't it quite cold in Seattle? It rains a lot and it is quite cold, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:16 But it gets hot in the summer. I'm just impressed. The Pacific Northwest, it's a very similar climate to England. It is very wet. I can understand sort of the accidental, you know, when it's hot, like in Miami or whatever. you know, there's like a beachside, you know, coffee you drive in and it's got a bikini-clad woman. And no one bats an eyelid. But when it's fucking freezing cold, it's minus one, you know, it's snowing, pouring with rain.
Starting point is 01:08:43 Yeah. You know, the bikini-clad thing becomes very differently shaped, doesn't it? Indeed, it does. They are in a cubicle. They are in a cubicle. Unlike the coffee, which I'm sure is very sweet. So now they're kept warm in the cubicle. I do wonder when these ladies at work in places like that
Starting point is 01:09:02 Are they having a good time? Are they fine? Is this like this? 40-year-old men grew up with the internet And they've got the internet now. Why is this not still a thing? Why is this still a thing? Who is the perverts who are they?
Starting point is 01:09:13 Who are they? If you're one of these perverts, email us right now with a jingle and an explanation. We want to know. Why do you go? Add some pictures. Why do you stop off at the, Why do you fund these bikini-clad?
Starting point is 01:09:29 What is it for? Are you lonely? Are you desperate? What is it giving you that you're not getting elsewhere? I need to know. Where is society failing you? I just want to see some tits, mate. Some emails from some perverts, please.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Keep them coming. All right, well, that's the mailbag. Thank you. Thank you for all the emails. Keep them coming in, and I'll keep reading them and hand-selecting the very finest. The very hot. Only the best. Only the best.
Starting point is 01:09:54 Only the best. Only the best. All right, and we'll see you guys next time. Goodbye. Bye. Bye.
