I do extensive research. I'm always trying to find out as much information as possible to paint a thorough picture of each and everyone from their childhood on. But for this case, I was not able to find as much information as I would have liked, especially about their past, their childhoods. However, hear me out. Because unlike other cases where we never really know certain information like how and why a person was actually murdered, I do have very detailed information from actual legal proceedings, including the police reports,

complete autopsy reports, which I'm going to share. And this is not something that I've ever had in such complete detail before in regard to exactly what happened. please, please, please stay until the end. I know that majority of you do, but some people leave right after I talk about what happened to the victims. My analytics actually show me that and I totally understand because we have so much curiosity, but I do urge you to stay for this one. It's unlike many of the others and for the sake of those who have lost their lives. I want to tell the whole story. So starting with introducing you to Susan Michelle McGuiber. She was born July 24th, 1962 to Connie and Mike Amel in Titusville, Pennsylvania.

She also has a sister named Marcia. Everyone called Susan Missy. That was her nickname. So I'm going to be doing the same throughout this video. And by all accounts, Missy was a wonderful human being. She was pretty smart, caring, and she absolutely adored children. She actually wanted to be a teacher. And what I can tell from just looking at Missy, it is true.

She was beautiful. She had this beautiful, full, shiny golden brown hair, gorgeous green eyes that sparkled, and a big, beautiful smile. Growing up, whenever she played with dolls or with her friends, she would either pretend that she was the mom or the teacher. She just had that very helpful personality, and she was a very sweet child. She was always the one sharing, and anyone that was close to Missy just absolutely adored her. Being a teacher was really her calling. So when she graduated from Killian High School, she went on to attend Florida International University, where she studied to become a real teacher.

While she was living in Florida, she meets Michael McGiver. Now, let me introduce you to Michael. Michael John McIver was born April 15, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he was born to his father, James John McIver, and his mother, Celeste Bernadette. They actually had four children, James Jr., who goes by Jim, Sharon, Tim, and Michael. And from the time that Michael was just a child, he was involved in the aviation business because that was his family's business. And as a matter of fact, I thought this was

fascinating. At only the age of 16, Michael's mother obtained a pilot's license. And back then, that was pretty much unheard of as a woman. So she, became a flight attendant and then Michael's father was an airline captain. He raised all four of his children, especially his three boys, to understand and love aviation. They would work on airplanes. There are pictures of them and I'm going to show you some of them here, taking parts of airplanes apart, putting them back together. It was a true bonding experience for this family. Another fascinating thing about Michael was that he started flying planes at only 13 years old, which is I thought was kind of crazy, but being brought up in this kind of family, his father was there,

and this was kind of commonplace, and by the time he was 17, he was rebuilding aircraft engines. He was an innovator. He wasn't afraid to experiment with new things, come up with new concepts and ways of doing things, and eventually he went to Columbus High School in Miami, Florida, and then went on to attend Miami-Dade Community College and ultimately graduated from the University of Miami. And with aviation being a family business for the McGivers, it's really no surprise. Michael becomes a professional pilot in addition to a certified flight engineer. And then eventually he owns a company called Tammi Ami Aircraft Accessories at the Tammi Airport in Dade County, Florida. Michael was a go-getter. He was an entrepreneur at heart. And he had this kind of mentality

where he was going to do it no matter what. He was witty, he was intelligent and super ambitious, and he decides that he wants to live in paradise. So he's already living in Florida and he moves to Key West. And one of the reasons he moves there is because he thought it would be a great place to raise children. At that point in his life, he was around his late 20s, and he's looking for someone to start a family with, settle down with. He had already done all the partying.

that sort of single lifestyle. At this point, he really was trying to find someone that he could connect with for the long haul. Well, in 1987, Michael ends up meeting a woman, and it's a woman of his dreams, and they meet it a nightclub of all places. And it was kind of like fate, regardless of where they met. His older brother, Tim, had been out the week before. He ran into this woman, and when he was speaking with her, he thought she's a lovely. She's sweet and just so kind. And what happened was as Michael was talking to Tim that night about wanting to settle down, he mentioned Missy. And then she comes around the corner and he turns and he looks and he's like, she's literally right there. And Michael, of course, was attracted to Missy right away, who wouldn't be. She's gorgeous. And it was like love

at first sight for both of them. And she was a sweet person. And she had this way about her where it just felt like she would welcome anyone into her friend group. She was bubbly and outgoing. And this really made a great match for Michael. He was handsome, very charismatic, and all around, they made a really wholesome, perfect couple. They started talking and they talked all night long. Within just a few weeks of knowing each other, they were an official couple. And many say that they thought they were soulmates, that they were just meant to be together. all-American couple, they fall in love really fast. And in 1989, Michael and Missy moved in to their dream house. It's on this little cul-de-sac. And it's in a town called Tavenir in Key Largo, Florida.

This is a part of Key West. I have to say, as most of you know, I'm a Southern Floridian, native Floridian. And I've been around these split-level style homes, practically my entire life. I've been drawn to them. I think they're absolutely gorgeous. But this was a late in 90s, so as I'm looking at like the interior decorating style, it's a little bit outdated for my personal taste, but the house was gorgeous. It's two stories. Has a very open, spacious area with a screened-in back patio, a wrap-around porch on the top. But the coolest part is it's located on a private airstrip. The owners of these homes in this community could land their planes right there, like in the middle of the back of their homes. And I'm going to

show it to you see okay look some of them are even parking their planes right out in their yards or in an airplane hanger i want to make a little caveat real quick i did another case and it was also in florida it also involved a family that lived in a private airport community if you want to view that video next i am going to leave it in the description box and also in the cards and at the end of the video so if you stage to the end you can just click on it right after i would highly recommend watching that. It is a very intense story. So to go back to this story, Missy and Michael are also living in a private airport community and it's called Tavern Arrow. It's absolutely gorgeous. Here's the airstrip. Here are all the homes as well as various

airplane hangers. There's also a marina and they had a boat. So you could have a plane and a boat and it was a perfect place for anyone who loves fishing, diving, kayaking, boating. or if you just love living in that tropical Florida destination, especially for someone like Michael. Because of his love for aviation and aircrafts, he owned one and he worked on them. And I mean, he owned an airplane repair business. So it's kind of just a given that he would want to live in a place like this.

It's also very safe. There's only 33 homes in this community as of now in 2022. And only 14 of them have their own. own private hangers. All of the homes have direct access to this grass runway right outside, and you can see just how close it is to Michael and Missy's home. And as a matter of fact, and I always try to do this, I did find some photos of their home and I wanted to share them with you. You can get a feel by looking at these photos for what it was like living in Tavenere and in Tavenero. It's absolutely gorgeous. The Florida Keys is my favorite place in Florida. It's a chain of islands just south of Miami.

I used to go scuba diving there with my dad all the time. And Key West is also known for my favorite dessert, which is key lime pie. And if you've never been to Florida, I'll just say, don't turn down a key lime pie. It's sacrilegious. Just look at the water and the sky. It's honestly just a tropical paradise and it's a small community. this is not a really built up overpopulated community. Everyone knows one another, especially in this particular neighborhood because it's a very unique place that attracts a very unique type of person. By May 1990, the couple does end up getting married and they end up getting married in their own backyard. Sort of, sort of, kind of, because they've got this screened in area that I'm going to try to show you here. And they did want a simple wedding.

So they set everything up so beautifully in the screened in portion and it was gorgeous. You kind of can't even tell that it's in their backyard because to be honest, they've got these really spacious yards. They had this pretty large front yard and this back portion of their house is pretty large as well. Here are some photos of their wedding. And I have to say, I think they both looked absolutely gorgeous. I love Missy's hat and her little veil. And they remind me of Barbie and Ken, so they're just perfect. But as perfect as they were, this couple was about to face an unimaginable tragedy

that would rock not only their small community, but all of Key West, and totally devastate their families. It is one of the most shocking crimes that I've ever talked about on this channel, and you will definitely find out why. Just a year or about a year after they got married in January 1991, they find out some exciting news. Missy's pregnant with their very first child, and this is an exciting time.

Michael's 30. He's doing well in his business. They're completely excited for what the future will hold. And now, they have this new addition to their lives, and before they know it, they're going to have this new McIver. And they plan to have more than one child. They plan to have five.

Five children. Missy's 29. She's working her dream job. She's a third grade teacher at the local Key Largo Elementary School. And the children absolutely love her. They are just drawn to her. And you could tell, this is exactly what Missy was meant to do. And now she was going to have a child that she could nurture and love and teach things too.

A few months later, they find out they're expecting a baby boy. And they come up with a name, Kyle, Patrick, McGuiver. And they have been working nonstop. unrenovating a room in their home. It's a spare bedroom and they're dedicating it to baby Kyle. They're painting the walls blue. They actually hired a contractor. He's coming over to do all kinds of repairs around the house,

making it their home, transforming the rooms to work for them to extend their family. And Missy is so proud of the nursery. Whenever someone is there, whenever they have company, she shows it off. For example, Michael's sister Sharon and all of their friends would come over. and they were just absolutely thrilled. And I think as a mom, it's one of the best parts of being pregnant.

I love her pairing all the things for when my daughter was going to come into this world, dedicating that space to her. Knowing the one day I was going to be placing her in her cradle or rocking her back and forth in a rocking chair. And it's just this really magical time. And that's what I visualized and imagined it would have been like for Missy. I think of her anticipating Kyle coming into this world. It's the best of both of them.

It's the best of Missy and Michael creating a life out of love. But none of this is going to happen. Because unfortunately, all of those dreams and everything that they're excited for is going to come to a halt. All of it is going to be taken away. And for the most senseless reasons, if you can even call it a reason at all and you're going to say why, again and again and again. But you will find out why and it's not going to make any difference. I want to jump to that fateful evening on Wednesday, August 21st. It was a normal day. That evening the couple had gone to a childbirthing class, a La Maas class together,

which ended at 9 p.m. Michael was helping Missy get prepared for when the baby was going to come. And at this point, Missy is actually eight months pregnant. So they really were. about to experience Kyle coming into this world and they were excited for him to be born. But that night in particular, there was a violent tropical storm. And if you've never heard of a tropical storm, I'm sure you have. It's not a hurricane. So if you're thinking that, imagine a downgraded hurricane, a storm system that could turn into a hurricane. It still has strong winds, rain, thunderstorms, and they usually form over the tropical oceans. But they do have winds that are hurricane-like force. So this is not just a rain shower. There are like many locals.

They're rushing to get back to their home, to get inside, to take cover from the storm to kind of cuddle up under the covers and just hunker down until the next morning. But that next morning was not a normal morning. Not for Key Largoe Elementary School because on Thursday, August 22nd, Missy doesn't show up. That was highly unusual. And her colleagues were worried right away. And I think many times when women are pregnant, we are more sensitive. The first thing that pops into our head is, are they okay? I hope something didn't happen to them or the baby. Did they go into labor? And it could be anything. And I'm sure everyone wished that it was just Missy going into labor. But that is not what happened. The school reaches

out to Michael's sister Sharon. And they want to know, have you heard from Missy? She's says no why what's going on. She's concerned as well. And they explain that they're calling from the school and Missy did not show up that morning. Now Sharon's concerned. She wants to know what's going on so she calls Missy's house and the phone keeps ringing and ringing and ringing. And the answering machine never picks up, which she thought was very peculiar because it always picked up and that was odd. So she starts getting this really bad gut. feeling. She knows there's no way that Mike and Missy would just leave without reaching out to somebody, especially with Missy being pregnant. It just really did not make sense. And she had that

feeling that something wasn't right. She wasn't the only one that had this sickening gut feeling. Two of Missy's colleagues decide that they're going to go to her house and check on her. And when they get there, the doors are locked. They are knocking. There's no answer. They started to knock on the windows. And that is when they look inside and they can see someone lying on the floor in the living room. They can only see their feet. But this was terrifying for them and they didn't know what to do. So they ran to the closest neighbor's house. And they told that neighbor Bill to please go over there and see what's going on. I don't know what I would do. It's one of my biggest fears. I always think about what would I do if I was in this predicament and I found someone. And Bill

doesn't waste any time. He goes over and he kicks the door down and he rushes in and he does find a horrifying sight. He sees Michael and his lifeless body lying on the living room floor. He knew, unfortunately, right away that Michael was no longer alive and he immediately calls 911. Meanwhile, Sharon is calling a local police department asking them to do a welfare check. She doesn't know that Michael has been found. She calls back a little while later because she hasn't heard from them and they wouldn't tell her anything

so she knew that something was wrong. They just were not giving her any information and by the way they can't. And that's because when something like this occurs they don't know who's involved. In this type of situation, they have to keep quiet

even though this is someone's family and that's very hard. And I just want to tell you something right away. I might get emotional in this video and I try to edit these things out, but you have to understand that I have seen this crime scene in depth. And yes, I'm in school for death investigation, and I see this all the time.

I am not completely desensitized to it. So when I'm talking about these things, the images will never leave my mind, and they're going to come up in my mind. And I'm not going to be showing any of them, not in this case anyway. So the police are sent over to the McIvers with an entire team to invest.

investigate because they believe this is a homicide. And that in and of itself is shocking because of this private gated community can pretty much count, if there's ever been, can pretty much count on one hand how many homicides they'd ever have like in the whole actual in the whole community, not just the gated community, but like the whole city of Tavenir. This is in Monroe County and they send a detective out there named Jerry Powell. He's the first one on the scene and he does the initial walk through. We are essentially going to be following him throughout the house. I'm going to be verbally relaying to you what he saw and I will be showing you some photos of the McGeber house and the crime scene. But if I show you anything, it's not going to be, it'll be blurred if there's anything there.

It's not going to be graphic. Now right away, I'm not going to even try to explain what the layout of this house was. It's very unusual. It's got this split level structure. I don't know where the rooms are. I looked at a diagram. I'll show it to you at some point, but it really doesn't matter. All you need to know is that Jerry Powell, the detective, is making his way into the home. When he first gets in there, he doesn't see any signs that there has been a struggle. He doesn't see anybody in this area. He goes through and he sees the kitchen. He notices that there are rooms that are under construction. And I talked about that before. He sees paint cans on the countertops in the kitchen.

Everything looks like it's in disarray, but not because it had been ransacked. It's because it's under construction. So he moves into bedroom by bedroom, and he's in the spare bedroom. He can see that that's where the actual painting is going on. The walls are being painted blue. There is also a screened-in porch, patio, balcony, so to speak, right outside the sliding door. and then on the other side, I saw a window that looks like it goes out to the side yard. Now I said there's a sliding glass door and you can enter this spare bedroom from the outside through that door.

There's also this staircase, which you can see here, and that goes up to an additional portion of the house. At this point, Detective Powell reaches the living room. He's looking around like we are right now. He sees a couch. He sees a TV. Everyday items. There were some papers on the floor. floor that look like they had been gone through. So it seems like this could be a burglary at this point,

but then he looks over past the coffee table on the floor and he sees Michael's body. Now they do assume this was a burglary gone wrong. But there were things like the TV that weren't taken. So was this the intention of the perpetrator to just come in here and not take certain things and take someone's Michael is laying on his back. His left arm was extended to one side. His right arm was beside his body and his legs were stretched out in front of him. He was wearing a short-sleeved red and white striped t-shirt and white underwear and a pair of white socks. The most notable and confusing thing that the detective saw was what was on Michael's face. It was hard to tell until they got closer, but it appeared as though, both of Michael's eyes had been covered with a white sock, so two white socks. The same type of socks that he was wearing and one was over each eye. And then masking tape had been wrapped around his head to keep these socks in place. And the masking tape was also wrapped around the bottom half of his face covering his mouth. There was a small opening for his nose. It reminded me of the

way that a mummy would be wrapped. And the roll of tape was still sitting on the coffee table within inches of Mike's body. There was also a little bit of blood on the left shoulder of Michael's shirt and a little bit coming out of his nose and some bleeding from his nostril area. They also observed bruises on his neck and the investigators thought that a struggle had taken place because of those papers I told you were scattered. They were scattered on the floor. right next to a desk and Michael was between the TV and the coffee table. There was also a small plastic drinking cup that was next to Michael's body close to the left side of his head. What really stood out was a shoe print. It wasn't on the floor. It was actually on Michael's

throat. And as the detectives moved into the kitchen area, that's where they think they found a weapon. It's a metal bar. It's on the floor. It looked like it didn't belong there. It was about two and a half inches in diameter and about two to three feet long. And at the end of it, as you can see, there's a towel wrapped around it. And they thought, this is where it was being held by the perpetrator. And this is probably a weapon. So they send it in to be tested. But they're not done. There are still rooms to be gone through. And this is when they go into the master bedroom. And when they glance inside, they don't see anything unusual at first. Nothing seems to be out of place. There are some pillows that are stacked up at the head of the bed, which I'm showing you here,

a laundry basket by the door, but then they look down. And they find a piece of clothes line that's right outside the door. And when their eyes move forward to the ground at the foot of the bed, that is when they see Missy. She's completely naked. She's like, lying on her right side. She's facing the bed with her behind and her back facing them toward the door. She's laying on top of a cream-colored comforter that looked like it had been pulled off the bed and placed over the tile floor. There were belts, several layers of masking tape and clothesline rope that were on her feet

and her hands. Both of her hands were clenched into fists and this signified that she was in pain when she died. Two belts secured and bound her wrist to her ankles, both of her wrists, like in a hog-tied fashion, and around her neck, there was a necktie and a black sash, which was wrapped around her neck several times and her hair was in a big tangled knot. There were also two pieces of tape over her eyes, but they looked like they were placed there in a hurry. They were ripped off in place, like, one here and one there. And then there were also items underneath her that looked like they came from an emptied out purse. Investigators also

noticed that her night shirt was underneath the comforter, and the buttons had been torn off with such force that the button shanks had been separated from the buttons themselves. And near that night shirt were her panties, which had been cut. on either side, on both sides, with a sharp instrument. Detectives thought right away that she had been beaten and forced into intercourse. And within that master bedroom, the investigators also found a 22-caliber shell casing, as well as a hole in the bedroom curtain. The sliding glass door to that bedroom was open,

and there was a box fan that was still on blowing through the room, and it was humid, and it was hot in that room. So as a result of those conditions, Missy's body was covered in moisture. Because of their assumption of what happened, they used a Luma light and they do identify semen on and around in the pubic area on the buttocks of Missy and inside of her inner thighs. There were three semen stains that were also on a fitted sheets and within close proximity to one of those stains was an additional stain, which appeared to them to be dried feces. and at this point, and I hate this part, but at this point, they moved closer to Missy, and they realized that Missy had fecal matter in her buttocks area. This poor thing had a bowel movement as a result of this attack.

Their assumptions changed. Now they thought that this was not a random act. This was planned. But why was this couple targeted? they found an opened dresser drawer. In the drawer were belts and the same kind of clothes lined rope were around the other parts of the house. So what they believed were that the items that the perpetrator used

were already at the house, that he did not take them in with him. And something else stood out. The investigators were in that room and there was an open address book that was on the bed. It's right here. I'm going to show it to you. And it's opened up to the room.

the section with the last names starting with the letter G. Not only that, there were several pages ripped out. Pages that contained last names that ended in G, H, and I. And this seems like a very significant clue because why would these specific pages be torn out? Someone had to have spent time intentionally going through the address book and taking them and they thought, was this to cover their tracks. Investigators thought, okay, maybe this was someone that the McGuivers knew, which wouldn't be a surprise because most homicides are committed by people that we know and that are close to us, as unfortunate as that is. So they decide to rule out the burglary since they determined that nothing had been taken. Jewelry boxes were still there with all their contents present. Valuables have been

left behind and they believe that Missy had been the target and that the crime was probably driven bisexual urges. So they make their way outside to do a walk around on the perimeter of the house, and that is when they notice a couple ladders. One is smaller. It's the type you unfold. It has two sides. I'm showing it here, generally used for painting interiors. But then they see this one. It's long, and it's leaning against the home leading right up to the sliding glass door in that spare bedroom that's being refurbished into the nursery. And on that, porch balcony were four cans of paint. The sliding glass door to that room is also open and cut clothesline rope was hanging from the balcony ceiling and they believe this is where it was cut from

before being used to tie up Missy. That this was actually a laundry clothesline that the McIvers used. They know that the McIvers had hired a contractor who was working on the home. These ladders belong to him. They're wondering if it had been placed there in the course of his workday or if he used it to access the home to harm this couple. Was there an argument? They don't know, but they think they've identified their prime suspect. They also locate tracks, a couple of track marks from a vehicle, and then bootprints in the sand.

And they want to take impressions, but unfortunately the sand is too wet from the storm, but they do their best anyway. Like to get at least photos that they can compare. They want to know visually if these prints belong to the contractor. And they need to dig deeper. But first, they need to reach out and notify the families of the victims. And this is never easy to hear. News like this is terrible.

And it ripped both Missy and Michael's family apart. And as a matter of fact, Sharon had finally made it to her brother's house. She knows right away that it is not good. She sees the yellow, the yellow crime scene tape. And her mother and father were already there and they were standing off to the right. And everyone had a look of shock. Sharon didn't think this was real.

That it couldn't be her family. And her father comes up to her, tells her that Missy and Michael are dead. And she couldn't understand how that could be true. They were just there and they were alive and well just the day before. And she had been in that house earlier that week and she saw the nursery and she told Missy was coming along so well and now they're dead. There was nothing to say. All she could do was cry. Next, Michael's brother James, Jim, shows up.

And his father tells him that Michael and Missy are deceased. And Jim asks how. And his father just flat out says someone murdered them. And I just can't imagine what that would feel like because it would be so shocking. It's too horrifying and unbelievable. And then the last sibling to get there was Tim. And you're not going to believe this. It is his birthday that day.

And to think that it's the day that he would be celebrating the day he was born and now he's finding out that same day that his brother is dead. And he sees his mom and she walks up to him and she's hugging him. Kylie. And she says, Michael and Missy are dead. And he couldn't believe what he was hearing. How can this be? His brother is dead. And when I heard this, because I did hear an interview with him, explaining this moment, I cried. It was very emotional. And he just broke down. He couldn't handle it. He was the one that was responsible for introducing Michael and Missy. And that is sad because all of their plans for the future had just been ripped away. Everyone that knows Michael knows that he was friendly to everyone. The MacGyvers would invite anyone into their house.

They were kind, loving, wholesome. How could they have any enemies? And that's what investigators want to find out. So they start asking both families to tell them every person that they knew that was close to this couple. They were well known in this area and the list was long. Meanwhile, they're transferred to the medical examiner's office to undergo the autopsies and police. bring in an expert criminal profiler Dale Hinman. If you're anything like me in my age, you probably remember her from a show called Body of Evidence. She's going to make an attempt

of making sense of all of this and trying to create a profile of the killer in hopes that they can narrow down their search. Investigators are trying to put together a timeline. They're also back at the crime scene collecting even more evidence. They're doing an even more extensive search of the premises and that is when they find something. One of the biggest clues that they have found so far. The phone lines have been cut and this was a telltale sign that this person who did this had planned this meticulously planned this break-in and the attacks. They had come prepared with some kind of sharp tool and they most likely knew the layout of at least the exterior of the home. They wanted it to be harder for the McIvers to

get help and this implies that the killer was experienced. Not only that, they committed this crime during a storm. Everyone in this neighborhood would have been inside. The thunder would be loud, covering up screams because you're going to know that Missy and Michael they fought for their lives. This storm was the perfect cover. So they're really starting to put together a lot of clues. And then it's time to canvas this tiny close-knit community. of Tavernero, starting with the McGiver's immediate neighbors. And after interviewing as many people as possible, no one had seen or heard anything that night. Some weren't even there and others that were inside because of the storm. So they have no solid leads. They come out of the canvas with nothing.

So then they turn to the other clue, the address book, and they're thinking this is really significant. And I've never heard anything like this in any of the cases that have researched. So I'm thinking, the same thing. I'm thinking someone had to have known that that address book existed, right? And that their name would be in it? That was my thought. Was it a coincidence that the contractor's name, his last name started with an H. Hardy? His name would have been in those pages. That's what investigators thought. So he becomes their prime suspect, also considering he had access to the home, he was already their prime suspect basically. He had access to the home. and maybe the business deal went bad, or since he was inside where Missy was,

maybe he became obsessed and he finally made his move. So they run the DNA that was collected from Missy's body hoping they're going to get a hit in the database, but they don't. And their only hope at this point is that they collect DNA from their suspect and they match it to the DNA at the scene. So on August 30th, this is just a few days after the murder, they bring in Mr. Hardy for an interview. Don't know if that's his real name,

but it definitely started with an H. The contractor is completely cooperative and right away, he's angry. He's angry that he's being questioned, rightfully so. The reason he's angry is because over the course of the time he was working at the McGuiver's home, he became close to them.

However, it was his boot prints that were outside the home, but he has an alibi for that evening and it checks out. Still, he agrees to give the DNA sample and it turns out it is not a match to the DNA found at the crime scene. So they are at a dead end without any solid leads until Missy's sister comes forward with some vital information about the night of the crime. Missy had made a phone call to Marcia around 10.30 p.m., but Marcia didn't pick up. However, her answering machine did.

Investigators finally hear Missy's voice for the first time, and that's haunting, really, the dead speak. She was letting Marcia know. would try her tomorrow. And they wonder what Missy was going to tell Marcia. So police now have a clue to their timeline. Missy was alive at 10.30 p.m. And this was also the time that the storm had really picked up. I went ahead and pulled the weather data from the night of August 21st. The storm had actually begun around 5 p.m. and it went until after midnight. The worst of it seemed to be in the latter part of the night so this timeline is making sense to the detectives the killer came in sometime after this phone call and the lines were cut sometime after this phone

call so the next lead they have is a man named james harroway another last name beginning with letter h i don't know if they changed his name for the sake of articles and things like that but he lives in the neighborhood and he was familiar with the mcguivers comings and goings but just like everybody else that was interviewed. He's fully cooperative. He offers up his DNA. They check it against the swabs and it's negative. So they're just hitting one wall after the next, but one door and the investigation is about to swing wide open for them. The how. They finally get the autopsy reports back. And I have to tell you right now, it's heartbreaking. As to Michael, the autopsy revealed that he suffered a severe blow to the best of the best of the baby.

back of his head. The external examination of Michael's neck showed several bruises, especially around the front, like right here. And there were marks around the neck that looked like a rope had been wrapped around four times or wrapped around twice and then reapplied. So there were four distinctive marks. And that pressure was applied from behind Michael. So someone pulled standing behind him. It also confirmed that most likely his neck had been crushed by extreme force, and they believe that that was caused by someone stomping on his neck, hence the shoe print that was found in that area. The metal bar was most likely what was used for the blunt force trauma to the back of Michael's head. There was also internal bleeding in the left shoulder,

which also indicated that he sustained a severe blow. Additionally, there was significant bruising in the abdomen area causing a contusion that was fairly deep. The medical examiner said that this injury could have been inflicted by a strong kick. And based on his observations, he also gave the opinion that the cause of death was exfixiation by strangulation with a ligature,

presumably a rope. Michael could have been rendered unconscious in 10 to 15 seconds after it was applied, or it could have taken longer depending on the pressure. With respect to Missy, the external examination of her face showed that she had received several slight abrasions, and there were ligature marks around her neck. These type of marks indicated that she was pulling against the ligature, and that caused friction. There was discoloration in her face. This showed that the blood was not exiting the head as fast as it was entering.

And what this meant according to the medical examiner was that there was incomplete application of this literature. More likely than not, a longer period of time passed before Missy lost consciousness once this was applied. This could also mean, just so you, because I had to read it several times, it could mean that she was strangled numerous times to the point of unconsciousness, then allowed to awaken only to be choked again until it was too much, and she took her last breath. Moving down to her lower body, there were cuts to her vulva, and there were several cuts to her legs. This indicated there was a struggle, and this was most likely prior to her being strangled because she was fighting not to be forced to have intercourse. And after the attack, she was left there to die alone.

The medical examiner concluded, based on the totality of the circumstances, that she had been sexually battered, the explanation for the presence of the feces that I spoke about in the buttocks area, it was determined that this could have happened either at the time of death, because sometimes that happens, or it could have been caused out of fear. Now, one of the saddest parts of all of this for me and many others involved in this case was the realization that Missy and Michael were not the only ones that were murdered that night. I haven't talked about this in relation to the crime, but it was confirmed that Missy was indeed approximately eight months pregnant. In that medical examiner, he determined that the baby would have been viable had he been born, and that he lived approximately 30 minutes after. after Missy died.

And this is known from the evidence of the examination and estimations that this doctor made because there was evidence that the baby tried to breathe on his own. And all I could think of is, oh my God, that's the only thing that came to my mind, that it was completely heartbreaking and that this crime was committed by someone

that was pure evil. To take an innocent, unborn child's life along with his mother and fathers in the haines. this way. It makes me sick to my stomach. It makes me sick to my stomach right now. Like, I, I don't understand. It was so hard for me to read this and it's harder for me to share it because it's unfathomable that there are these type of evil people that are walking our streets. To investigators, this murder seemed to be personal. So they had a lot of work to do. They

turned back to the family and friends for more clues about who the couple spent time with. and then a call comes in. It's from a dentist in Miami. He had heard the news about the homicide because now it was a large-scale investigation. It had gained extensive, repeated media coverage. You know how these things are across the entire state. And the dentist explained that Missy used to live in Miami

and she had been married before Michael. Missy and this ex-husband used to come in to the same dentist and the ex-husband still did. According to the dentist, Missy's ex, he was not happy about the divorce, and he had recently told him when he heard that Missy was remarried and pregnant that he was really upset.

He held a lot of resentment. So investigators are now laser-focused on finding out more information about this man, and it turns out he has a criminal record. But when they're digging in, it's minor crimes, it's like petty theft, A few other things. Nevertheless, anyone could go into a rage. And an ex with a grudge is a viable suspect.

So they bring him in for questioning. He denies everything. He says, I have nothing to do with these murders. He gives them an alibi for that night. He was back in Miami, nowhere near the McIver residence. And he's stunned that his ex-wife is deceased. He gladly willingly provides that DNA sample. and when they compare it to the crime scene, it is not a match.

So they are back at square one. And it's really disheartening. Not only that the community is filled with fear, they think there's a murderer that could be living right next door. They're locking their doors. They're buying guns. They're getting alarm systems. It's a far cry from how safe they used to believe that tavern era was.

It's become a dark and evil place that will always. remain part of its history. The residents want answers. They put pressure as they always do on the police to solve the case, especially since the Keys is a huge tourist destination. They rely on people wanting to come there and if there's a killer on the loose, it's bad for business.
