Starting point is 00:01:27 This is True News. I'm Rick Wiles. Glad to have you here on this Thursday. But before we begin our analysis and commentary of world and national news, I must pay tribute to a great American patriot who passed away Wednesday night, Korean War hero, U.S. Marine, former California congressman, 1972 Republican presidential candidate, co-founder of Earth Day, and a practicing attorney right up until his last day on Earth. I'm talking about Colonel Pete McCloskey. There's the Los Angeles Times, Pete McCloskey, anti-war candidate who took on Richard Nixon in 1972, died last night at age 96. And, Doc, as I told you this morning on Morning Manor,
Starting point is 00:02:18 he was on my mind a couple days ago. God is my witness. It was either Monday or Tuesday. I had the thought, you should call Pete McCloskey. This bothers me, Doc. It's just several times, and now you know. You know it was the other incident. And I'm telling you, friends, when you get that prompting from the Lord,
Starting point is 00:02:44 you should call someone. Don't delay. Don't even delay a day. You should do it right away. Make the effort. That came to my mind. I don't know if it was Monday or Tuesday. You should call Pete McCloskey. Mr. McCloskey appeared in our film, Sacrificing sacrificing liberty we'll show you a clip of him in a few minutes uh i uh you know came to age as a voting citizen 1972 was the first election i voted in okay so i was uh i guess uh i just turned 18 and pete mccloskey was a republican he was a republican congressman from california and um he was challenging richard nixon i i was registered as a Democrat. I came from a Democrat family. My relatives named their kids after Democrats. So I couldn't vote for Pete McCloskey, but I remember at age 18,
Starting point is 00:03:57 I was a big McCloskey supporter. I thought, man, I really admire this man. U.S. Marine, war hero, California congressman. Telling it like it is. And he's telling it like it is. Man, he's a straight talker. He was a straight talker. And I really had respect and admiration for Pete McCloskey. And, of course, he was not able to defeat Richard Nixon in the Republican primaries of 1972.
Starting point is 00:04:26 But he gave Mr. Nixon a good run for the Republican nomination. I pulled some 1972 political ads. Did you learn anything from these? I learned that nothing has changed. And I learned why I respected him so much. And I'll tell you right now, watching these 1972 presidential campaign political ads, if God would allow me to become a congressman, I would model my role after Pete McCloskey.
Starting point is 00:05:15 If I could be half a man he was, I would accomplish something. Because he did. Yeah. So I'm going to show you a couple 1972 political ads. This first one he's calling for the end of the Vietnam War. Now remember Pete McCloskey
Starting point is 00:05:33 was a Korean War decorated hero. Two Purple Hearts. We would call him a patriot today, right? A real patriot. Yes. And he didn't flaunt his injuries. He didn't flaunt his war record.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Right. He was a humble man. But he was a hero. A U.S. Marine. He served in the Navy and then the Marine Corps. And then volunteered for Vietnam. It was in Vietnam that he began to change. And he said, look, there's something wrong here.
Starting point is 00:06:10 But it was difficult to attack him. You couldn't call him a pinko commie lefty because he was a U.S. Marine war hero. And that's what made him dangerous to the establishment. This is Pete McCloskey, 1972, calling for an end of the Vietnam War. This is Paul McCloskey asking for your vote on the Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire on March the 7th. The issue is the same as it was four years ago. How do we end the war? Congress has voted twice to leave Vietnam if we could get the prisoners back. The President of the United States insists on a second condition,
Starting point is 00:06:52 the preservation of the corrupt government in Saigon. What is more important? If you put the prisoners first, a vote on March 7th could end this war. I hope you will. He introduced himself as Paul McCloskey. His formal name was Paul. His nickname was Pete. Everybody called him Pete, but on the ballot, he was Paul McCloskey. That's why he identified himself as Paul McCloskey. So he's calling for an Mr. Nixon's position was, yes, we want the POWs released, but we also have to prop up the government of South Vietnam. And what Pete McCloskey was saying is, who cares about the government of South Vietnam?
Starting point is 00:07:42 Let's get our POWs out and go home. What actually ended? How did it all end, Doc? We left our POWs behind. That's what finally happened. We left them behind. For all we know, there may still be some American POWs still alive to this day in Vietnam. Or elsewhere.
Starting point is 00:08:04 They might have been shipped out. Shipped to China or in Vietnam. Or elsewhere. They might have been shipped out. Shipped to China or North Korea. To this day, there could still be American POWs alive. Pete McCloskey said, let's cut a deal with the communists, get our POWs released, and get out of Vietnam.
Starting point is 00:08:20 But we left our POWs behind. Just like Joe Biden left all the equipment in Afghanistan. Yes, and our partners. And Americans. Americans were left behind. Let's go on. See, nothing changes. Nothing changes. There's nothing new under the sun. This next one is, he's talking about the goals of America. What should be the goals of America? Again, 1972 presidential campaign.
Starting point is 00:08:51 This is Paul McCloskey challenging President Nixon in the New Hampshire presidential primary on March the 7th. What do these words mean to you? Pride, power, prestige, greatness, bombing, preserving the Saigon government? What about peace and love and kindness and truth, returning our prisoners of war? You have a chance to make those words the goals of America by your vote on March 7th in the New Hampshire primary. Could he win today? Could he win the Republican nomination today? No. Of course not. No.
Starting point is 00:09:30 He's too radical. He was talking about peace and love. Imagine if the war ended. His next one, he's talking about the bombings. I think this one refers to how Nixon had expanded the bombing into Cambodia and Laos and other countries. And this is what Pete McCloskey said in the 1972 Republican race for president. This is Paul McCloskey. I'd like to take a minute to talk to the independent voters of New Hampshire, who four years ago caused a cessation of the bombing in North
Starting point is 00:10:05 Vietnam by their vote. Now four years later, we're not only bombing in Vietnam, we're bombing in Laos and Cambodia. We're wiping out villages and countryside and people in countries where we're not at war. This nation has a proud military heritage. At Belleau Wood, at Gettysburg, at Iwo Jima in Korea. We fought to preserve human liberty, or we fought to restore the sovereignty of a nation. We've never fought before, or killed,
Starting point is 00:10:30 just to preserve our pride or the corrupt nature of a government in Saigon, such as we do today. For the first time in this primary, independent voters can vote either Republican or Democratic. I hope that you'll choose, this time, to vote in a Republican primary on March 7th, to try to vote to end this war, to end this destruction, the senseless killing of other people
Starting point is 00:10:50 with whom we are not at war and with whom we hold no animosity against. What are we doing now? What is America doing right now? We're supplying weapons to foreign wars. If Pete McCloskey were here today, he was here yesterday. Yeah. He was here yesterday. He's not here today. But if Colonel Pete were here today, he would say, we've got to stop the Ukraine war and we've got to stop the Gaza war.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Right. And the same thing that was propping up the Vietnamese government in order, you know, for the end of the war. We're doing the same thing today. All it takes is money. Money and bombs. We're pouring billions of dollars into a war in Ukraine no one in the U.S. cares about. And then we're pouring billions of dollars into Israel just so they can turn around and, in my opinion, create genocide in Gaza. So it's the money situation.
Starting point is 00:11:55 If you pull the money out, the money rug out from Ukraine and Israel, see how fast wars would stop. That's right. They'd stop probably the same day. In fact, we might get to some of those stories here today. I've got one more 1972 presidential ad. He's just talking about the need for truth in government. This is Paul McCloskey.
Starting point is 00:12:21 When was the last time you felt that you could honestly believe what government spokesmen in Washington were saying? Whether it's the war in Laos, bombing in Cambodia, the treatment of Bangladesh, the crime statistics, do any of us really feel we can believe any longer what people in Washington say about the facts in America? I think there's one thing I can do if I'm president of the United States. I can admit mistake. I can tell the truth. I can insist that every other federal employee tell the truth. Bruce, what a concept. He would have been a great president. He was like a Republican Kennedy. That's what I see. I see a Republican JFK. And if you would put a picture of Pete McCloskey at that time up against a picture of Richard Nixon, and you had to choose based on the picture, you'd choose McCloskey, wouldn't you?
Starting point is 00:13:15 Yes. Why? Because he looked more presidential than Nixon did. Yes. And more trustworthy. I'm going to skip number six and then come back to it. I've got one more I want to show you. This is from April 1978.
Starting point is 00:13:30 It's kind of a grainy video, but this is Pete McCloskey talking about the United States shipping cluster bombs to Israel to bomb civilians in Lebanon. Does that sound like today? This is a Republican war hero presidential candidate saying it's wrong. America should not be sending cluster bombs to Israel to kill civilians in Lebanon.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Let's watch. Never be used against the civilian population, sheltering gorillas. It's not only inhumane, but it's counterproductive because the people who are hurt by it will forever again, hate the person that delivered the bomb or supplied the bomb. And this is why we in the United States and a country as lovely as this should never give a weapon to a country that does not pledge that they will never use them against the civilian population. That's my position today. That's my position today, running for Congress.
Starting point is 00:14:39 I've got the McCloskey position from 1972. As an American who keeps up with the real news, you know by now the severity of the economic issues that are plaguing our great nation. Starting point is 00:15:42 genesisgoldgroup.com. President Biden says he will stop sending bombs and artillery shells to Israel if it launches major invasion of Rafah. Obviously, Joe Biden is catching a lot of heat. And the Zionist lobby in America is whipping up every voice that they have in the House, in the Senate, on the news media, anywhere. And they are going after Joe Biden. I'm not a Biden supporter, but on this issue, Joe Biden is doing the right thing. I wish he would have never sent any bombs to Israel. There'd be a lot of children alive today if Joe Biden didn't send the bombs to Israel.
Starting point is 00:16:27 House Speaker Johnson appears to be a Republican, self-identifies. His pronoun is Republican. He self-identifies as Republican. He said President Biden had a senior moment when he threatened to delay U.S. weapon shipments to Israel. I believe he's off script. Johnson said in an upcoming episode of Politico's playbook, Deep Dive. I don't think that's something that staff told him to say. I hope it's a senior moment because that would be a great deviation
Starting point is 00:17:07 in what is said to be the policy there. I believe he's off script. What script? What narrative? What manuscript? And who wrote it? If the president didn't write it, who wrote it if the president didn't write it who wrote it he said i don't think that's
Starting point is 00:17:29 something his staff told him to say who's his staff who tells the president what to say and if somebody's telling the president what to say then he's not in control of the nation. Zionism is collapsing. It has suffered a major public relations wound. Their inhumane genocidal war against the Palestinian people was so grotesque that the world is vomiting at what they did. What they did to the Palestinian people is so horrible, it made people forget what Hamas did to the Jews. Yes. And that's making them mad.
Starting point is 00:18:18 It's making them angry. Because what Hamas did to the Jews on October 7th was horrible. But what Israel did to the Palestinians is even worse. Not to Hamas, to children.
