Let's start our commentary and analysis with this article published today by CNBC News, Blinken to warn China over its support for Russia's military during this week's visit. Yes, CNBC is reporting that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will warn China about its support for Russia's military during his visit to the country later this week.

That's according to a senior State Department official. Secretary Blinken is expected to convey Washington's deep concerns, as they're called, over China's aid for Russia's defense industrial base during his three-day visit starting Wednesday. He says that we're prepared to take steps when we believe necessary against firms that severely undermine security in both Ukraine and Europe, the official told reporters ahead of Mr. Blinken's trip. And I think we demonstrated our willingness to do so regarding firms from a number of countries, not just China, he added. At any rate, again, I think this will be a key issue of discussion while we're in Beijing. Doc, is this the only thing America does? Just a sheer arrogance of it.

Our officials just go around the world and point their finger at other countries and lecture them and tell them what they can and cannot do. While we do the same thing. Exactly. The double standards. No wonder nations are so fed up with the arrogance of the American ruling class. Right. So anyhow, Mr. Blinken is going to lecture the Chinese officials this week. In particular, the support of their banks to Russian defense contractors. Now, if Russia or let's say China lectured American banks on financing the American defense contractors, how would the State Department respond?

Well, first they'd just ignore it. They'd blow it off and everything. And they would say, you don't have any of your business. You don't need to be interfering with things here. Well, let's follow the articles, and I'll show you where this is headed. So also today, Wall Street Journal, U.S. takes aim at Chinese banks aiding Russia war effort. Right. So the U.S. is drafting sanctions that threaten to cut some Chinese banks off from the global financial system. Yes, I read that right. I read it right.

That's an act of war. Yes, we're in pre-war mode with China now. So now the purpose of this is arming Washington's top envoy, that's Secretary Blinken, with diplomatic leverage, as they're saying. The officials hope will stop Beijing's commercial support of Russia's military production. And that's according to people familiar with the matter. Mr. Blinken and other top cabinet officials have been sounding the alarm among Western allies, including last week at a meeting of the group of seven industrialized nations in Capri, Italy. But this time, as he heads to China, officials are counting on the threat of Chinese banks losing access to the dollar and the risk of roiling trade ties with

Europe, persuading Beijing to change tack. Now, these banks serve as key intermediaries for the commercial exports to Russia, handling payments and providing client companies credit for trade transactions. And before we're going further, it was just about a week and a half ago, maybe two weeks, that Janet Yellen was in China. And she lectured the Chinese on Chinese oil. And that didn't go over well. All four foot nine of her. Right. So U.S. officials are saying that targeting these banks with sanctions is an escalatory option just in case diplomatic overtures fail to persuade Beijing to curb its exports. on Beijing in recent weeks in private meetings and calls, warning that Washington is ready to take action against Chinese financial institutions handling trade in such dual-use goods.

The article goes on to say that any banks that facilitate significant transactions that channel military or dual-use goods to Russia's defense industrial base expose themselves to the risk of U.S. sanctions. And that's coming from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen earlier this month amid meetings with counterparts. And she had not eaten any magic mushrooms when she said that. Now, on Monday, the Chinese Navy released rare footage of the launch of a JL-2 ballistic missile from a nuclear submarine. Now, this video shows China's Shandong aircraft carrier fleet, including four submarines, during a simulated exercise. Near the end of the video, ballistic missiles shown being launched after our narrator states that the submarine has arrived at the scheduled launch location and is commanded to carry out a fatal strike. So while the video does not identify the type of missile or submarine, Nationalist tabloid Global Times on Monday – I like the way they said that, Nationalist tabloid – said the missile in the video is the JL-2 submarine China's first credible sea-based nuclear deterrent when it was deployed on Type 094A nuclear submarines in 2015. Compared with land-based missiles, SLBMs generally allow for a greater chance of surviving an initial strike by an enemy and conducting a second strike. Now, the video shows a simulated exercise between two aircraft carrier groups, including one led by the Shandong Chinese second aircraft carrier, which was launched in 2017. The footage is the first confirmation that the Shandong carrier strike group includes at least four submarines, including nuclear one now the video shows three submarines conducting what they're calling cover-up missions with one of them launching an unmanned underwater vehicle before a fourth nuclear submarine successfully launches the video now this is the video released and you can see the demonstration of the JL-2 missile here.

So the message is pretty clear that they're sending to Anthony Blinken. Don't be coming over here and telling us how to run things. You don't want us doing that, do you? At least publicly.
