On this Friday, over recent weeks, hundreds of millions of people around the world were bewildered and confused over the images of the debacle in Afghanistan.
I'm referring to the chaotic, unplanned exit of the United States military from Afghanistan.
And it just confused a lot of people.
People scratched their heads and said, how could the United States of America do something
so chaotic and unplanned and just run out of a country and leave behind billions of dollars of worth of equipment and military bases and
not to mention hundreds, possibly thousands of American citizens stranded behind and certainly
thousands of Afghan citizens who had befriended Americans and wanted to get out.
They were all abandoned.
People wondered, how could that be?
What's the answer? Is it that
Joe Biden is senile? Is Joe Biden and his administration inept? Are they incapable of
managing a major operation? Well, some of us had more sinister explanations for it. And as time goes by, our sinister explanations are
starting to look more real. And what I'm talking about is the shocking realization that Joe Biden
deliberately turned over Afghanistan to China.
And it's becoming very evident now.
We're going to show you some stories that have come out today and in recent days
that confirm what has happened in Afghanistan.
The first one, this is from the Times of India today.
China eyes belt and road extension and Taliban ruled Afghanistan,
raising concerns for India. India is very worried about this, that China is going to have a major
base of operation in Afghanistan. Its global belt and road project will go through the country of Afghanistan.
And this is a big story in India today.
The next one I think is even more shocking.
This is Daily Mail.
Nikki Haley warns China could take over Bagram Air Base
as Taliban hooks to Beijing for help.
The first time doc.
Yes. I'm actually in agreement with Nikki Haley because that was the first thought in my mind
weeks ago.
You know, when it became apparent that Biden was not going to order the U.S. military to
bomb and destroy Bagram Air Base.
Which baffled me.
I mean, if you're pulling out, if you're banning everything, the natural thing to do
would be destroy all the equipment so the bad guys don't have it, right?
The runways, the buildings, the equipment, but he left it all intact.
There's only one explanation for it.
They meant it to happen that way.
And the Taliban's not going to take over Bagram Air Force Base.
I mean, they're cavemen.
What are they going to do with it?
Now, China will have a major air base,
a military air base in Afghanistan,
built and paid for with American tax dollars.
And already equipped, too.
Yes.
Think about that.
Thanks to Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, and the Democratic Party traitors in this country who it makes a lot more sense now how the apparent ineptness of our military, of the administration, it's not that at all.
No, Milley's in on it.
Marxist Milley's part of it.
Right.
So is Secretary of Defense Austin, everybody within the administration.
Secretary of State Blinken.
Right.
The National Security Advisor is some boy, Jake Sullivan.
Right.
I think he just got out of high school.
I mean, totally inept, but they're carrying out Xi Jinping's orders.
Right.
And what we're learning, of course, is that there's a lot more to the story that China's been planning this for some time.
But let's not forget the connections between Joe Biden and China.
Right. So we're going to go back to 2019.
This is a South China Morning Post news article from Hong Kong.
It was published October 5th, 2019.
Joe Biden's son listed as director at China-backed equity firm, China government
filing show.
Well, that should have been a huge scandal in America in 2019 with Joe Biden at that
time, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Right.
Hunter Biden was on the board of directors
of a China corporation.
Hunter Biden got a $1.5 billion investment
from the Chinese government
for one of his business deals.
Right, for the BHR investment firm.
But this is a separate company,
and he's on the board of directors.
Now I did some research.
Doc, Hunter Biden said he would resign and divest from his investment if his father was
elected. From what I can determine, I believe he did resign
from the board of directors, but he did not sell his stake.
Oh, really? So he still has his stake in...
To the best of my knowledge, the last news article I could find about it was published in late June of this year, a few months ago. He still owns that company.
His father's in the White House. And Hunter Biden is still an investor with a Chinese Communist
Party-backed corporation in Beijing. I think it's Shanghai. Right. And of course, that's not the only
China connection, but that's a big one right there. So even if we just took that one alone,
we could make a direct tie between the Chinese and the Biden family.
You don't think Xi Jinping isn't telling Hunter Biden, this is what you take home and tell your
father? You tell dad to do this. This is what we want done. We want Bagram Air Force Base.
You give us Bagram Air Force Base or we tell the world that we own you. Look, the Bidens
are being blackmailed. But nobody's going to do anything about it because again, Marxist
Milley at the Pentagon,
the rest of them, they're all in on it.
And they're all probably being blackmailed at one level or another.
So we're witnessing the U.S. government turning over military bases, equipment, weapons to communist China.
And the reason it doesn't make sense, the reason that so many people think
this is so incompetent, how can anybody be this stupid? And they're not. They're not stupid.
They're criminal. They did it by deliberate design. And they're doing it because there's
a gun pointed at their head. The Chinese Communist Party owns the Bidens. I've just got an update on that.
First son, Hunter Biden, continues to own a large stake in a Chinese private equity firm in defiance
of President Joe Biden's pledge that his family would divest in foreign business interests. And
that was as late as April 30th of this year. In defiance. He's not in defiance of his father.
Agreement with it. So the Bidens are still sucking money out of China.
Now, if you think we're just speculating on this,
the Taliban have already come out and announced that they are forming a partnership with China.
This is from the Postmillennial.
Hey, they even posed for pictures for this.
This is the Taliban speaking because now they're being recognized
as the
legitimate government in Afghanistan by the Chinese. China will be our main partner and
represents a great opportunity for us because it is ready, China that is, ready to invest in our
country and support reconstruction efforts. You see, China learns from us, Rick. So what we do
is we go in, we blow up something,
then we rebuild it. China says, well, why don't we just let other people blow up something,
we'll go in and rebuild it. And that way we can own it after that.
That's right. It's supposed to be Halliburton that rebuilds. The Cheney family and the rest
of them, they're supposed to profit. The Bush family gets in there and rebuilds. But now China's
stepping in, as Doc says, and they're saying, no, we'll let America blow up stuff.
Just like with Syria.
When the U.S. and Israel are finished bombing Syria, China will step in to rebuild Syria.
Right.
And the game has changed.
We're still bombing, but we're not building.
That nation building has come to an end.
In fact, Joe Biden said that the other day.
He said, we are not going to proceed any further in nation building.
So he is basically saying we're out of that business now.
Well, China's ready to step into that business.
They've got the resources, and they're ready to do it, Rick. They're doing it with the Belt and Road Initiative. Right.
This map just came out here a couple of days ago, Rick. This is a proposed extension of the Belt
and Road Initiative with actually Afghanistan being a hub of connections for this. Who would have imagined Afghanistan as a hub?
Well, now, it's strategically located.
Now, it's a landlocked country, first of all.
It doesn't have any ports or anything like that.
And basically, it's just a lot of mountains and rocks, okay?
That have a lot of minerals in them.
That's right.
But it is situated between two very important lines.
One is, if you look at the top of the screen there, that yellow line, that's the proposed
new Silk Road that is being directed through northern Iran, coming out of the western part
of China, and then all the way over to Haifa.
We'll talk about that later in the program.
And then that green line there is the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is basically
Silk Road 2. It connects eastern China with the Indian Ocean. And so Afghanistan is in a strategic location there to connect these two main corridors that China has been developing now
for a little over a decade. And as you can see, these are some of the different lines, either
rail or roads, that they're looking to build to connect these two corridors. Afghanistan suddenly
becomes a key geopolitical point for China advancing into the future, Rick.
So now you look there to the southeast of Afghanistan is Pakistan.
Right.
Now you go back to the beginning, the first article.
If we can go back and put up number one, China eyes belt and road extension and Taliban
ruled Afghanistan, raising concerns for India.
Now let's go back to the map.
Right. All right. Now we understand why India is concerned. Yes, because China is making a huge
investment in Pakistan. Now, remember, Pakistan is one of the nine countries in the world, Rick,
with nuclear weapons. And so China is making a major investment in betting on Pakistan to be the balance of power against India.
And if we I had another map I didn't get an opportunity to bring out here.
But if you look at the Global Belt and Road Initiative, everything goes around India.
Nothing goes through India. All the maritime lines go around India. So there's a plan by China to really lock India out of any benefit in their
plans for the future Belt and Road Initiative. And they know it. Yes, they know it. Absolutely.
So, well, this is all starting to make sense. Let's, I'm going to jump down to number nine, because our dear allies in the Middle East, Israel, went ahead and leased
their Haifa port to China.
Yes.
And this is today's Times of Israel.
Israel inaugurates Chinese-run Haifa port terminal.
So, Doc, I thought Israel is our great loyal ally in the Middle East.
I thought Israel was our friend, our buddy.
It's the lone democracy in the Middle East, the one that we invest in, the one we sell
iron domes to and then buy them back.
That Israel, right?
So what this really means is that the port of Hafa is part of the Belt and Road Initiative.
And it absolutely is, Rick.
It's at one end of the Belt and Road Initiative
for the Mediterranean.
Hafa is a key port for the Mediterranean.
It connects everything to that area.
And at the other end of that Belt and Road,
that yellow line we saw on the map earlier,
Rick, it takes it all the way back to China. And that deal was cut by Netanyahu. Yes.
Not the current prime minister, Naftali Bennett, but by Netanyahu, the so-called friend of the USA. The Xinhua News Agency put out a video report today
bragging about this big development between China and Israel.
Let's watch it.
A new port constructed by a Chinese company in Israel has begun operation.
The ceremony to inaugurate the new port in Haifa was held online on Wednesday.
The port is an automated container port constructed primarily by the China-Shanghai International
Port Group.
For the first time in Israel, ships with a capacity of about 15,000 20-foot equivalent units can be seen berthed in the new port of Haifa.
The construction of the port was officially launched in 2018.
Haifa is the transportation and industrial center of Israel and a railway hub along the Mediterranean Sea.
Haifa port is the largest port in Israel and one of the largest ports
in the Eastern Mediterranean.
So they're very happy about that. In fact, in some of the copy that went along with the
video there, Rick, it said it is a key point in the Belt and Road Initiative.
And it's land that the European Zionists stole from the Palestinians.
Yes.
That port.
Yes, it is.
They stole it from the Palestinians.
And now the Zionists are in league with the Chinese communists and are snubbing the Americans who have been their friends and allies for years. Because Israel knows the times are changing and the U.S. is fading away and China is rising up.
You could say they've read the Chinese tea leaves and they've seen the future, right?
So, and maybe they've been in partnership for a lot longer than we think.
I think so.
Hey, we're going to take a break. And when we come back,
Doc and I are going to spend the second half

We're glad to have you here today.
And Doc and I are going to spend this half of today's True News in a Bible study.
And we're going to talk about one of the most famous parables Jesus taught his disciples.
It's the parables of the ten virgins.
And what we're really talking about is the final day,
the day of the Lord.
In Matthew 24, Jesus gave us the sign of his second coming
and of the end of the age.
Sitting on the Mount of Olives,
he prophesied that the Jewish temple in Jerusalem
would be demolished.
He gave the saints advance warning that they shall suffer intense persecution.
He promised that God would cut short the days of tribulation for the sake of the elect.
He said the sun, moon, and stars shall go dark.
Jesus taught his disciples the parable of the fig tree.
He warned them that human civilization will be like it was in the days of Noah. He compared his
second coming to the unexpected arrival of a thief in the night. Lastly, he, wise disciples will be busy serving the right food at the proper time when he returns.
Now, after his detailed description of the final day, the day of the Lord,
Jesus's next spoken word, which marks the beginning of Matthew chapter 25, is then.
Then what?
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened.
Likened means it shall be, it shall resemble.
What shall it resemble?
The answer is found in the parable of the ten virgins.
The day of the Lord shall come suddenly and unexpectedly to those who are religious, but spiritually dull, lazy, complacent,
and preoccupied with this world. They are represented in the parable as the five foolish
virgins. Let's read the parable in the 25th chapter of the gospel according to St. Matthew
verses 1 through 13. Doc, I'll let you read it.
Sure.
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins,
which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them.
But the wise took oil in the vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made,
Behold, the bridegroom cometh,
go you out to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose
and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said unto the wise,
Give us of your oil,
for our lamps are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying,
Not so, lest there be not enough for us and you.
But go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that
were ready went in with him to the marriage. And the door was
shut. Atward came also the other virgin, saying, Lord,
Lord, open to us. But he answered and said,
Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the
hour wherein the Son of Man cometh. Okay, so I would say a lot of people think they understand
this parable. They think they understand it.
Yeah, they're going to have a different thing by the end of this Bible study.
Right.
Because it's deep.
There's a lot in it that we typically don't talk about.
I'm talking about the modern church.
And so Doc and I are going to dig down into this parable and show you some things talking about the last days.
Right.
It's clearly the last days.
Right.
They ask him at the beginning of Matthew 24.
Right.
Okay.
The disciples ask Jesus three questions.
When will this happen?
Meaning the temple.
When's it going to be destroyed?
Right.
What is the sign of your coming? What is the sign of the end of the age? Yes. Jesus went into a long answer.
And that answer is all of chapter 24, all of at 25. So it's all
one answer. Yes.
Now, he gave
them all the various
signs and the things
that would happen.
Then, he says, then.
All right. After you know
these things, after you see these things,
then. So
the then is answering the third question, right?
Yes.
And that third question is.
And he says, then the kingdom of heaven shall be like ten virgins.
So this is what we're going to talk about today.
If Jesus was talking about the end of the age, the second coming, the arrival of the kingdom of God,
then why does he say it'll be like 10 virgins? Because we all focus on the other stuff,
the meteors, the mayhem, the monsters, you know, all that stuff, the Antichrist, all those things.
But he said, hey, when you see this stuff, then it shall be like ten virgins.
And so the implication there, of course, is that you will see these things.
Yes.
And he was talking to his, the people that were following him,
that they weren't going to be absent somewhere else,
sitting in a stadium somewhere watching this all take place.
But they might actually be experiencing some of this.
That's right.
Sin.
So we're going to break this down.
So obviously Jesus is the bridegroom.
That's an easy one that's given.
The 10 virgins, all 10 are bridesmaids.
So the bridesmaids represent Christians.
All 10 of them, they represent Christians. Now, something that's
important, bridesmaids do not marry the bridegroom. Right. The bridesmaids are the friends of the
bride. Right. They don't get married to the bridegroom. They're part of the wedding party.
Yes. So they're not marrying the bridegroom. Jesus isn part of the wedding party. Yes. So they're not marrying the bridegroom.
Jesus isn't a polygamist.
Right.
But this parable does not identify the bride.
And why not?
Well, Jesus chose not to.
But, you know, if you ask most Christians, who is the bride of Christ?
They're going to say what?
They're going to, in this parable, they're going to say it's the bridesmaids.
Well, they're going to say it's the church.
Right.
But the bridesmaids are the church in this parable.
Right.
So the bridesmaids are not getting married to the bridegroom.
So they're part of the bridal party.
But they're not the one that's being married.
Is there a clue anywhere else where we can identify the bride?
Yeah, in the book of Revelation, it tells you the bride is the city of New Jerusalem coming down from heaven.
Clearly says so.
The bride is New Jerusalem.
That's a different, it's a Revelation 21, 2. And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from
God out of heaven, prepared as a bride, adorned for her husband. So pretty clear to me, it's a bride.
So, but the bride is New Jerusalem. Yes. That'll rock some people right there. Jesus said it.
I didn't.
And then Revelation 21, verses 9 and 10.
And there came unto me one of the seven angels, which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues,
and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain
and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem,
descending out of heaven from God.
Right. So pretty clear.
Two times now, new Jerusalem is the bride.
According to the word of God.
So in the parable of the ten virgins,
the ten virgins represent the collective church,
Christianity, and all ten are,
would call themselves Christian. Now, the parable is different.
There's another parable, the parable of the wedding banquet.
That's Matthew 22.
In that one, the bride was not identified.
That's true.
The parable's message, and this is in Matthew 22,
the message of that parable is about the spiritual fitness of the invited guests,
whether they're fit to be in the wedding.
Right, what clothes they had on.
The garments, yes.
In the parable of the ten virgins, the message is about the readiness to enter the wedding.
About the timing.
Yes, being prepared, being ready.
So the parable of the ten virgins is prepared being ready so the parable of the ten
virgins is about being ready for the wedding the parable in in Matthew 22 the
wedding banquet is about being spiritually fit to be allowed to be in
the wedding right two different parables, two different messages, the same wedding. Wedding. That's the key.
The same wedding.
And the same bride.
And the same bridegroom.
Yes.
Okay.
So now we're going to talk about the wedding customs in the ancient times in the East.
So typically weddings were at night.
And usually close to midnight, too.
Yes.
So in a lot of Middle Eastern cultures, even to this day, they're usually pretty close to midnight.
I didn't know that.
Yes.
So that's when we talk about the midnight hour or the time of night.
It's affirming to that. So the friends of the bridegroom, the bridegroom, the man, the friends of the bridegroom stayed with the bridegroom at his father's house.
The friends of the bride, the bride's maid stayed with the bride at her father's house. When the call was heard, the bridesmaids would go forth to meet the bridegroom and accompany him to the house of the bride's father. Yes.
When all the invited guests had entered into the house,
all the invited guests for the wedding had entered into the house,
the door was shut and the ceremony began. Now, the imagery of this parable
implies that the wedding ceremony
was not held at the bridegroom's house.
We don't know.
We don't know where it was held,
but it doesn't specifically say.
Did the bridegroom arrive from a great distance with his bride?
Or did the bridegroom travel a great distance to fetch his bride?
Is that important between the two?
Well, it's in the parable, but it's not clear.
Bible scholars, theologians have differences of opinions about which one it is.
I don't know if it really changes the message of the parable.
It's one of those, you know, it's an important piece of the parable
but I don't know if
the answer of it changes
the message of the parable
because the message of the parable is the preparation
for the arrival
of the groom
that there wasn't an expected
day or hour that the
groom would arrive but they were to be ready.
That's right. Because all 10 bridesmaids were expected to be ready and await for the call that
the bridegroom was coming. Their job was to go out, meet him, and escort him to the wedding party.
Yes. That's what it was all about. Now, the ten bridesmaids, the virgins, as I said, represents the whole of Christianity.
Now, they're separated into two groups, wise and foolish.
Right. They're not separated by righteous and sinful or good and bad or industrious or lazy.
But prepared or unprepared.
Wise or foolish.
Yes.
Okay.
So they were all virgins.
They were all bridesmaids.
They all were friends of the bride.
Right.
Again, they're not the bride.
If these 10 bridesmaids are the Christians, they are the friends of the bride who's getting married.
Yes.
So they identified with the bride.
They were part of the wedding party.
There was a relationship there of some kind.
An established relationship.
Yes.
And invited to the wedding.
Yes.
And appointed to a very important position.
And likely had garments prepared for the wedding, too.
So they were dressed for the wedding.
Everything was in place except for one important factor.
And all ten knew the identity of the bridegroom.
Because they recognized him.
Yes.
They knew who was coming, who was going to be married to the bride.
Yes.
Now, all 10 knew the bridegroom would travel a great distance to marry his bride.
All 10 went forth to meet the bridegroom.
That's in Matthew 25, verse 1. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins,
which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
All ten went forth to meet the bridegroom.
So they knew he was coming.
They knew his approximate arrival.
They could see his arrival and all went to meet him at some point.
So if the ten represent Christianity,
then all ten of the representatives are going forth
expecting the bridegroom to arrive.
So far, everything's the same, right?
Right. And they all had lamps, too, it says there. far, everything's the same, right? Right. And they all had lamps too,
it says there. Absolutely. Everything's the same. So all 10 expected to attend the wedding ceremony.
None of them were thinking, man, I'm going to drop out. If you were to ask any of the 10,
if you'd ask any of the five foolish.
Are you going to drop out of the wedding? No, of course not. I'm going to be there.
My name's there. I'm going to be there. They expect it.
They didn't know at this point, Doc, that they were foolish.
They're part of 10. They didn't know. They weren't wearing name tags. Said foolish bridesmaid. It just said bridesmaid.
It's like weed and tears.
They all look the same.
Wow.
I hadn't even considered that before.
But yeah, you're right.
They didn't even know they were foolish yet.
No.
Because it had not.
The determining factor of what makes them foolish had not yet surfaced.
We're going to show you why and what happens.
All 10 knew that there would be a shout at some hour announcing the bridegroom's arrival.
If you had asked any of them, how are you going to know when the bridegroom's coming? If you had asked any of them,
how are you going to know when the bridegroom's coming?
There's going to be a shout.
Yes.
You ask Christians,
well, what happens when Jesus Christ comes back?
He descends with a shout.
Yes.
The last trumpet.
Okay.
They all know.
And the voice of the archangel.
A shout.
Yes.
Yes.
They all know.
All 10 were furnished with lamps and oil.
Right. I think a lot of people think when they think of the parable of the virgins,
they think, well, five of them didn't have any oil. That's not true. That's not true. They all
had oil. Yes. They were given oil. Yes. They had lamps. They had oil. So it's still equal.
All 10 are still equal.
Right.
All 10 knew it was their duty to be ready to escort the bridegroom to the ceremony.
They knew their job.
They knew their role.
They knew what was expected of them.
Yes.
And they were all anticipating his arrival.
They had all gone out.
At some point, they all went forth They had all gone out. So at some point this, they all went forth,
they all went out. That indicates there's motion by all 10. They're not sitting somewhere.
They're in motion, right? They're waiting on the call, but they're not sitting. They all went out. So there's some type of action.
It's just they know at a certain place, a certain point of time, there will be a shout that the bridegroom is coming. And that's when you really spring into action and you go and meet him.
So up to this point, everything's the same. Everything's equal. They all can identify
with one another you can't
tell the difference between the foolish and the wise up to this point right that's right the only
difference is the amount of oil all 10 had oil but they didn't have the same amount that's the
difference again i think a lot of people think um it think the parable of the virgins that, oh, yeah, five had oil and five didn't have any oil.
They had to look around for it to try to get some oil.
No, they had oil.
All 10 had oil.
The determining factor is the amount of oil.
Right. And to get some idea on this, I mean, in this
time of history, the only way you could find your way at night was a lighted lamp.
Okay. You didn't have like a flashlight or street lights or, you know, anything like that to guide
your way. You couldn't turn your iPhone on and have a light. Right. So if you were expected to travel at night and you want to light your way,
you had to have a lamp and you had to have enough oil to get you from your point where you're
starting from to your destination. That's right. Okay. So, and they knew that. Right. They were
told that everybody knew this part of daily life. Right. So it wasn't like something was expected of them that was unusual.
It was very, as you said, this is the normal way of life.
And it still is in many countries.
Right.
If you go to a third world nation, you'll find that people are still using lanterns
at night to travel through the bushland.
Okay.
So what was the difference?
The amount of oil.
Each of the ten made individual decisions during the day
regarding the use of their time in acquiring oil. In the daylight, when it was easy to see.
Easy to go get oil.
And the oil shop was open.
Yes.
Each of the virgins made individual decisions with what they would do with their time in the daylight hours.
They all had the same number of hours. They all had the same opportunity
to get oil. So five foolish virgins went forth to meet the incoming bridegroom with lighted lamps.
So they had light, they had lamps. But no extra oil. This is the problem. This is it right here. They had lights, they had lamps
that were lit, but not enough oil to keep themgins did the same they had lamps that were lit
but they had extra oil enough to carry them for the rest of the journey it says that they had the
oil in vessels the vessels were some type of maybe a ceramic container with a cork that they carried
oil in it so they had to have a vessel of their own.
Yes. And they brought extra oil
of their own. Yes. Along the way.
But the foolish versions didn't.
There's
the difference.
They could have, but they didn't.
They had the opportunity in the
daylight hours when it was
easy to go get the oil.
When they could have acquired it,
but they didn't because they were lazy and indifferent and complacent and occupied with
other things.
Yes.

Yes, while you can. commercial because he said the message in the commercial is be prepared. Yes.
While you can. While you can in the daylight hours,
store up food for the midnight hour when it's dark and it's impossible to get
extra food.
That's why you should call heaven's harvest in the daylight now.
All right.
And order the food now.
Don't wait until the world goes dark
and there are food shortages.
Are you starting to understand this parable now?
This is really starting to make sense, isn't it?
Well, Rick, where we left off,
we determined that the difference
between the wise virgins and the foolish virgins
was the oil that they brought.
The wise virgins had their own vessels.
They brought extra oil because they anticipated not only the journey to meet the bridegroom,
but to journey on with him forward to the wedding party.
And for the foolish virgins, their sin, their sin was not fornication or wickedness or unfaithfulness or apostasy or anything like that.
Their sin was the neglect of preparation.
That was their sin.
Their neglect of preparation for the bridegroom's sudden arrival at a late hour.
That was their sin.
That's the message in this parable.
Wow.
So this, all right, now this gets interesting.
Let's look at verse five.
While they all slept,
while the bridegroom tarried,
while the bridegroom tarried,
they all slumbered and slept.
That's verse five. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. That's verse 5.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
There are three points to see.
First, the bridegroom's arrival was delayed for an unknown reason.
The bridegroom tarried.
Tarried meaning he waited.
Right.
That's number one. And we're not given the clue as to why. Tarried meaning he waited. Right. That's number one.
And we're not given the clue as to why.
We're not told why.
But he was delayed for whatever reason, maybe on purpose or whatever.
We don't know.
We'd have to read into it to determine this.
But he had gone a great distance.
And number two, all ten virgins became sleepy.
All ten.
It wasn't five said, hey, I feel like taking a snooze.
All ten became, they slumbered.
Now, in the past, I've heard people teach that the sleeping part was bad.
Was that a bad thing, that they were sleeping?
We're going to show you here today.
I have a different perspective on this than I had the rest of my life
because I just followed the standard churchianity teaching that I heard in American churches.
So all 10 got sleepy.
All 10 fell asleep.
How could this be bad?
What's happening here in this parable?
Because the wise ones were asleep and the foolish ones were asleep.
That's right. So all 10 of the virgins, while the bridegroom attended to some business that prevented an earlier arrival, all 10 slept.
Right.
While they're waiting on him.
The reason that they're sleeping is they become weary.
They slumbered.
They got sleepy, drowsy, and they fell asleep because the bridegroom is held up somewhere.
For some reason, they know he's held up.
They go to sleep, all 10.
Right.
So while the 10 slept, the shout is heard at midnight.
The bridegroom is coming. Go out to meet him.
This is the moment the separation between the bridesmaids becomes obvious.
Until then, all ten were one group.
All ten were appointed to attend the wedding.
All ten heard the shout.
All ten went forth to meet the bridegroom, all ten had
lamps that were lit, all ten had oil. And all ten trimmed their lamps. And all ten trimmed their
lamps. It's the trimming of the lamps that really changed the scene. So the trimming of the lamp
was the deciding moment. And until then, both groups looked the same.
The difference appeared when they trimmed their lamps.
Now, two camps became visible at midnight.
And the dividing line that separated them was the amount of oil.
The oil lamps, oil lamps required daily care.
Doc, I know you've had lanterns.
Yes.
All right.
I still have lanterns.
I use them, you know, camping and things like that.
I've got a couple at the house.
Yes.
You know?
The wick draws up oil from the reservoir.
Right.
Okay.
And you've got to really take care of the wick, too.
Because if it's not well taken care of, it can burn up a lot of extra oil.
It'll put off smoke and fumes and everything.
So you've got to trim your lamps.
That's what's called trimming the wick.
Trimming the lamp.
So to keep the wick in the best shape so that it is not burning up excess oil. Right. And that you get a flame that's bright.
Because if not, if the wick is not trimmed, it's going to be a kind of a smoky, hazy,
dark flame.
It's not going to give you a lot of light.
And so both the foolish and the wise trimmed their lamps.
Yes.
They knew how to be prepared at that point.
For maximum light. Right. However. Then something started to become obvious. So
all 10 lamps burned while they slept. Yes. Think about that. The lamps were burning while they
slept. Right. They didn't turn out the lamps. The lamps are burning while they slept right they didn't they didn't turn
out the lamps the lamps are burning while they slept the lamps are burning
up the oil all ten reservoirs were almost empty yes when the bridegroom
appeared all ten arose from sleep when the shout was heard. Yes.
All ten trimmed their lamps.
For the journey ahead.
Five foolish discovered they were out of oil.
Five wise knew that they had extra oil.
The wise virgins calmly refilled their lamp reservoir.
They were ready. There was no panic. All ten, the
lamp reservoirs were almost empty. But for the five wives, they simply calmly
refilled the reservoir because they brought extra oil. The five foolish had no extra oil. They did not anticipate a late arrival of the bridegroom.
This is what caught them by surprise, Doc, the late arrival.
They didn't prepare because they were not, they did not expect this long delay. How long has it been since Jesus Christ ascended to heaven?
Nearly 2,000 years.
It's been a long delay, hasn't it?
Right.
The bridegroom is tarrying.
He's waiting.
He's tending to matters that we don't know about.
Right.
And for those believers in the first century,
they were expecting a soon return.
Yes.
They expected the bridegroom to arrive earlier.
Yes.
But he's been delayed.
Yes.
And now you have a lot of bridesmaids who've become slack, indifferent.
Oh, they've been saying for 2,000 years he's coming.
There may be another 1,000 years till he comes.
They're not.
So I'll sleep till then.
I'll sleep.
In the daylight, I don't have to go out and acquire extra oil.
He's delayed. I have plenty of time.
But those that were wise had extra oil. So even if the bridegroom
was delayed, they were prepared for it one way or the other. So the five foolish begged the five
wise to share their oil. But the five wise said, sorry, if we share, there won't be enough for any
of us. That's right. All 10 of us will miss the wedding.
You're going to take the the remaining inventory of oil and split it 10 ways.
And the result is all 10 of us are going to miss the wedding.
That's the reason, Doc, they wouldn't share.
It's not that they were being mean. They weren't selfish. They were saying, for me to finish my journey,
for me to be faithful to the commission I was given,
to be at the wedding, I can't share this with you.
If I share what I have, I'm going to fail in my mission to be at the wedding.
Right.
It wasn't meanness or selfishness.
And the bridegroom can't show up at the wedding without a wedding party.
That's right.
So the wise virgins instructed the foolish to go buy oil.
Well, it was a late hour.
The oil merchant was in bed.
And those days, you know, the merchant probably lived above his shop.
So they had to go back into town.
They had to backtrack. They had to go back to town, find the oil merchant, beat on his door.
It's after midnight. They got to beat on his door, wake him up, talk him into selling oil. He's got
to get dressed and go down into his shop and sell oil, then they have to get back on the road to
get back to where they left the other five virgins.
But they're not there anymore.
The wise ones have moved on.
Yes, they're with the bridegroom.
They're headed there.
Yes.
They're not with them yet.
They're headed toward.
But they've, so the foolish have got to go back to where they separated and then try
to catch up with the wise virgins.
So the way this ends, the wise virgins get to the wedding on time.
Yes.
They enter the wedding party and the door is shut.
After the door is shut, the five foolish finally get there.
They're breathing hard. They're huffing and the five foolish finally get there. They're breathing hard.
They're huffing and puffing.
They get there.
But the door is shut.
It's too late.
They beat on the door.
And the bridegroom says, sorry, I don't know you.
Right.
I don't recognize you.
Even cry out, Lord, Lord.
Yes.
I don't recognize you.
Go away. The wedding has started because
the bridegroom was insulted. How dare you show up at my wedding? This is my wedding.
How dare you show up late? You're interrupting my wedding. You're late. You did not think
enough of my wedding to be here on time. You are insulting me.
Remember, they were clothed for the wedding.
Yes.
They were prepared in every way for the wedding.
They had the invitation for the wedding.
And they were expected to be there, and they expected to be there.
And they were clothed in the wedding garments, ready to go.
But they did not have the extra oil.
Okay, so the lack of preparation cost them valuable time.
So wise means trustworthy, prudent, intelligent.
These are stewards.
Foolish means careless, indifferent, lazy.
Now the foolish versions probably before
back in town,
before the midnight cry came,
for days, maybe weeks,
they heard people say,
he's coming.
He's coming soon.
He's coming soon.
Talking about the bridegroom.
Right.
Don't you know he's coming soon? You about the bridegroom. Right. Don't you know he's coming
soon? You mean a lot like today? Yes. Like preachers say, Jesus is coming soon. Coming
soon. And Jesus said that where, Rick? He didn't say he was coming soon. What? That's
not in the Bible? Jesus never said he's coming soon. He said he comes quickly. All right.
So now you're going to have to explain to our audience what's the difference.
What's the difference between Jesus is coming soon and Jesus is coming quickly?
Soon refers to the space of time between saying you're coming and arriving.
That's soon.
Okay.
Quickly is the velocity that you travel to go from one point to another.
In other words, the speed at which you arrive.
If Jesus said, I'm coming soon, he would have been here a long time ago.
He's tarried. The bridegroom has been held up.
He's tending to matter somewhere at a far distant place.
And if he had said he was coming soon, you would know the day and the hour
of his arrival. You would know it. Pretty much. But he would have already been here by now. Right.
Because people have been saying for 2000 years, he's coming soon. Right. And he never said I'm
coming soon. He said, I come quickly. It means when the father in heaven tells his son, go,
you're going to marry your bride. It's time for the wedding.
When Jesus leaves heaven.
He's at earth that fast.
Yeah, he's not.
That's quickly.
That's quickly.
You can't comprehend the speed.
There is no no gadget in any laboratory that can measure the speed at which Jesus Christ will travel from
heaven to earth when it's time for the wedding. I come quickly. Boom, he's there. That's how Jesus
is going to appear. He said, they're going to be marrying and getting drunk and eating. It's just
going to be a normal day, as in the days of Noah.
And then the flood comes and sweeps them away. That's what is going to happen on the final day. Christ just appears. He's there. It's just there.
You're driving down the road. You're going to work. You're watching TV. All of a sudden,
boom, Christ is here. That's how he's coming back. I come quickly.
I come quickly.
He just appears.
And this world's over.
Lights are out.
And you don't know the day or the hour.
You don't know the moment.
But you have to be prepared.
Because when the shout is heard,
the bridegroom cometh.
You have to meet him.
You have to have enough oil to go through the darkness to meet him and this is where the five foolish virgins failed they were invited to the wedding but they
did not enter the wedding because when there were day there were daylight hours. They had time to prepare. They did not prepare.
They did not devote energy and effort to gathering the oil.
We only have, I don't think we're going to get through all this.
I could go about another hour.
The oil, all ten had lamps
all ten had oil
only five had extra oil
what is the lamp?
they have a lamp
they're carrying a lamp
I've been told it's the Holy Spirit
I've been told it's a lot of different things
but the Bible tells you everything
the Bible interprets itself.
Right. And Jesus knew when he was giving this parable to his
disciples there that they would recognize elements within the parable.
Psalm 119, verse 105,
Thy word is a lamp unto
my feet and a light unto my path.
The word of God is the lamp in this parable.
Light comes from the lamp.
So if the lamp is the word of God and the light comes from the lamp
and you need the lamp to
see the path in darkness by the way in Luke 1 when Zacharias prophesied over
the most the the Messiah child yes right over All right. Over Mary.
Okay.
Still in the womb.
He said,
and thou child shall be called the prophet of the highest for thou shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways.
This is actually prophecy about John the Baptist to give knowledge of
salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins through the tender mercy
of our God, whereby the day spring from on high hath visited us to give light to them that sit
in darkness and in the shadow of death to guide our feet into the way of peace.
So this prophecy over John the Baptist was foretelling the one who would bring the light. Now it wasn't John the Baptist. That's right. He would be the one who would go before
the one who would bring that light. That's right. And Jesus said, I am the light of the world.
Right. And in the beginning was the word and the word became flesh. You can't separate Jesus Christ
from the word. The word is Jesus. Jesus is the word.
And therefore the word is light.
And the lamp is the word of God.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
I got a lot more I'd like to teach.
Would you let us know if you like these Bible studies?
Because I want to get away from all the heavy, dark news reporting.
I want to start talking about the light of God.
The world is getting dark and knowing more news is not going to help us.
But having light, having oil, having the grace of God to get through the darkness.
That's what's needed right now.
The Holy Spirit is making a transition in this ministry.
Let us know what you think about it.
We love you so much.
We'll see you next week.
