TRUNEWS with Rick Wiles - Date: September 18, 2026. Lesson 185-2026. Scarlet Thread Faith: Rahab’s Impossible Faith
Episode Date: September 21, 2026In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart begin a new three-week series, Scarlet Thread Faith: The Faith of Unlikely People. The series opens with Rahab, a Canaanite p...rostitute living in a city marked for destruction. She had no covenant, no Scripture, no prophet, and no personal encounter with the God of Israel. She had only heard what God had done, yet she believed. While everyone in Jericho heard the same reports and trembled, Rahab reached a different conclusion: “the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.” Her faith became action when she risked everything and hung the scarlet cord from her window. This is the story of unlikely faith, obedient faith, and a scarlet thread of hope that points ultimately to redemption through Jesus Christ. Welcome to Morning Manor.
Welcome to Morning Manor.
Your teachers, Reckwiles and Dr. Burkla.
Get your Bible and notebook and get ready to here before.
Welcome to Morning Manor.
Today is Faith Friday, and that means we will study faith.
And it also means we will begin our Bible study with the Lord's Prayer and Lord's Supper.
So you are invited to join with tens of thousands of Christian believers worldwide in a virtual global holy communion service.
Now, you and your church, they call it the Lord's Supper, the Eucharist, a great Thanksgiving feast.
There are many names for the same meal.
Whatever you name this meal, we feast by faith on the body and blood.
of our crucified Savior Jesus Christ,
who is alive and ruling in heaven as king
and on the earth in and through his triumphant church.
To participate, you will need bread
and your choice of grape juice or red wine.
You will also need faith that the resurrected Christ is present in this meal.
I think it's awesome that Jesus is the only one who invites us to his dinner,
seats us at his table, and then serves himself as the meal.
Jesus Christ is beyond our comprehension.
As always, we begin 8th Friday by saying together aloud the Lord's Prayer.
So wherever you're at, whether you're in your home,
our office of jogging wherever you are and you're watching or listening to this Bible study
join with me and Doc Berkhard and all the saints worldwide who are watching this right now
join us in saying aloud a word's prayer let us pray our father
which art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil
for thine is the kingdom.
Power and the glory forever.
Amen.
Let's enter into prayer
before we enter the Lord's table here.
Pray with me if you will.
Almighty God in your tender mercy
it gave your only begotten Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption.
He offered himself and made once for all time a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.
He instituted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he commanded us to continue until he comes again.
Father, we ask you to bless and sanctify with your Word and Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most blessed body.
and blood.
Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed once for all upon the cross.
Therefore, let us keep the feast.
Hallelujah.
On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread,
and when he had given thanks, he broke it,
and he gave it to his disciples saying,
Take eat.
This is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.
The body of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which was given for you, preserve your body and soul to everlasting life.
This is the bread of heaven.
Take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you.
After supper, Jesus took the cup,
and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying,
drink this all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.
Thank you. Alleluia.
The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which will shed for you, preserve your body and soul to everlasting light.
Drink the cup of salvation and remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you and be thankful.
Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world,
and blessed are those who are invited to the Married Supper of the Lamb.
This sacrament is the gift of God for the people of God.
Feed on Him by faith with Thanksgiving that Christ died for you.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious body and blood of Jesus Christ, your son, and our Savior.
And for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the body of Christ and heirs of your eternal kingdom.
And now, Father, to you, to Christ our Lord, and to the Holy Spirit.
be honor and glory now and forever amen amen well our faith friday is scarlet thread faith the faith of the
unlikely people this is going to be a fascinating series over the next three weeks we'll examine someone in the
holy bible whose background timing or social position made them the least probable candidate
for the faith scripture attributes to them the governing image
is the cord Rehab hung from her window.
You recall the story, a scarlet line marking a house in a condemned city,
tied there by a woman with the worst address in Jericho.
Rehab's disqualifications are worth naming plainly before her faith is praised.
First of all, she was a Canaanite,
a member of the people group under divine judgment,
raised in the religion of Bahal and Asterov.
She was a woman in a culture,
that gave women no standing to negotiate treaties.
And she was a prostitute.
And Scripture never softens that description.
Joshua calls her that.
Hebrews calls her that.
And James calls her that.
She had no covenant, no synagogue, no prophet, no scripture,
and no personal encounter with the God of Israel.
Everything she knew,
she had heard secondhand from travelers and traitors
passing through a border town.
and on the strength of just that hearsay,
she bet her life in the lives of her entire family
against the survival of the city that she lived in.
So our aim is to show what God does with faith
that arrives from impossible directions
and what God did with her.
So let's open up our Bibles today
and turn to Joshua chapter 2.
Joshua chapter 2.
We're going to be reading verses 9 through 13.
And then we'll go back and look at a couple other verses within that later on in the chapter.
Let's start with Joshua 2 beginning at verse 9.
And it reads in the King James,
And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land,
and that your terror is fallen upon us,
and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you,
when you came out of Egypt, and what you did unto the two kings of the Amorites?
And as soon as they had heard these things, our hearts did melt.
Neither did there remain any more courage in any man because of you.
For the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above and in earth beneath.
Now, therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord,
since I have showed you kindness
that you will also show kindness
under my father's house
and give me a true token.
Then further along, in that same chapter,
verse 18 and verse 21,
Behold, when we come into the land,
thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window,
which thou didst let us down by.
And she did.
According to your words, so be it.
And she bound the scarlet line in the window.
And then we have a supporting text from the book of Hebrews in the New Testament.
Hebrews 1131, and the King James reads,
By faith, the harlot Rahad perish not with them that believed not when she had received the spies with peace.
Rick, I'm excited to dive into this lesson today.
Doc, this is an amazing story.
It's a story of faith and a story.
and a story of mercy and grace,
the more you study Rehab's account,
the more you love God.
I don't know what to say about the Lord's mercy,
his kindness, his grace to sinners.
This is about God's grace towards sinners.
So if you're watching or listening right now,
and you are an official sinner,
you should be encouraged.
God loves you.
He's not out to kill you, to destroy you, to mess up your life.
He desires to save you.
He desires to bless you.
The heart of our father is good.
Let's begin, for we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you
when ye came out of Egypt.
Now, what's interesting, this is what, yeah, this is what,
what Rehab said. For we, get into that in a moment, we have heard how the lure dried up
of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt. What's interesting is that the Red Sea
crossing had occurred 40 years earlier. How old was Reha had at this time? She was
talking about a story that was 40 years old and had nothing to do with her. Had not
nothing to do with her in the Keita nights. Think about what this means. Rehab was working from a news
report four decades old, delivered across a border by people who had no reason to be accurate
about it concerning a God she had never worshipped and a nation she had never seen. And what
ye did unto the two kings of Amorites that were on the other side of Jordan,
Zion and all, whom ye utterly destroyed.
Now this part was recent.
The book of numbers, chapter 21, records those victories,
which had occurred in the immediate pass just across the Jordan River.
So that was fairly new information.
So her information consistent of an ancient miracle, 40 years old, and two recent military victories.
Now, this is the entire evidence, the basis for what she is about to say.
And as soon as we heard these things, our heart.
did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man. This is a very critical observation.
The whole city of Jericho melted. At the news of what the Lord had done for the Israelites,
everyone in Jericho had her. She said, we have hurt. She's talking about the whole city.
Everyone's heart had melted.
Rehab explicitly said so.
We have heard.
Our hearts did melt.
No courage remained in any man or woman.
So the identical facts reached every household in Jericho.
And Rehab's conclusion was different from everyone else who lived in Jericho.
What was her conclusion?
Her conclusion is what's.
saved her. For the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above and in earth beneath.
Doc, she didn't have any theological training. How did she come up with that?
She didn't go to Sunday school. She wasn't in any synagogue Sabbath classes. She, on her own,
concluded, for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above and in earth beneath. Why is this important?
Because the rest of Jericho heard the reports and concluded that a dangerous enemy was approaching.
Rahab heard the same reports and concluded that the God of Israel was the true God.
Same information.
Same information.
Different conclusions.
You don't have to believe what your brother-in-law believes about the news.
Amen.
You should believe what the Word of God says.
This made the entire difference, not better information, the same information.
Processed by heart, willing to follow it wherever it led.
Good old Matthew Henry, the Presbyterian theologian in early 1700s.
he observed that the same sun which melts wax hardens clay same sun
same sun in the sky will harden clay and melt wax by the same heat
and so henry concluded that the news which terrified jericho
converted one woman living there the difference lying not in the report but it
what each heart did with what information it received.
Amen.
That's right.
This is the critical thing to learn here.
All of us here, all of us hear identical information at times, but we come to different
conclusions, and our conclusions are based on what we know and believe.
And our conclusions are based on what we know and believe about Jesus Christ.
you know the significance of rehab's confession brick really deserves some careful attention here because
of what she says and you pointed it out and how much she says with such limited material
okay she think about it that's all the information that she had she said the lord your god
he is god in heaven above and an earth beneath now first of all that's a monotheistic decoration and
It's not the ordinary conclusion of a Canaanite.
Now, why do we say that?
Well, because Canaanite religion, Rick, was territorial.
Each tribe in Canaan, each tribe or nation had its own God, and each God had its region.
That was the God of that area.
The assumption was that Israel's God was one deity among many, with authority over, you know,
just one particular patch of ground.
Rehab's confession abolishes that framework entirely.
What does she say?
Heaven and above and earth beneath.
Heaven above and earth beneath.
What she's doing is she is assigning to the Lord universal dominion
that leaves no territory for any other gods,
no territory for Behole.
Now, compare her language with what we read back in Deuteronomy
chapter 4 verse 39. It says there, know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart that the Lord,
he is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath. There is none else. It's interesting, Rick,
that the phrasing is nearly identical. And Moses was addressing covenant Israel after 40 years of
instruction. Rehab arrives, this is really amazing. He's talking to think about it. Rehab
arrives at the same formulation from a brothel in a pagan city on hearsay.
And so this helps us connect to the Apostle Paul's principle that we read in Roman chapter 10
verse 17. He says, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Rehab's faith came by what she heard by hearing, and what she heard was reported
what God had done. Now remember, Rehab had almost nothing to work with. She didn't have a Bible,
she didn't have a church or a synagogue, she didn't have a preacher or a prophet. No scripture,
no preacher, no covenant community, no personal revelation. Only the reputation of God carried
imperfectly across a border by complete strangers. Now, Rick,
If God can produce a confession like Deuteronomy chapter 4, verse 39, that Moses himself spoke in a Canaanite prostitute working from 40-year-old rumors and news, then there's really no excuse, Rick.
Then no one's informational poverty is an obstacle to the Lord.
Nobody has an excuse, Rick.
Doc, since Rahab's confession was almost identical to Deuteronomy 439,
either the Holy Spirit helped her come to that conclusion.
There she is a prostitute in a brothel.
And the Holy Spirit is giving her revelation.
Or somewhere along the way, that statement,
statement, that declaration from Moses,
no therefore this day and consider it in thy heart that the Lord is,
he is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath there is none else.
Is it possible that that one statement by Moses was communicated to her by somebody?
Where did she get this?
She quoted, she almost word for word, she quoted,
Deuteronomy 439.
Where did it come from?
Did it come from Holy Spirit?
Or did it come from somebody who heard what Moses said and carried it into Jericho?
And she heard it and she never forgot it.
She said, oh, I heard this guy say this.
And I just kept it in my heart.
I don't know.
The Bible tells us.
But Moses had said it 40 years earlier, Rick.
Think about that.
Yes.
I'm saying, did.
Did that one statement by Moses make its way to Jericho?
I don't know.
I'm just saying what's fascinating here is this is a prostitute who's working in a brothel,
and she is quoting, she's got a revelation of who God is.
And her revelation is identical to the word spoken by Moses.
So what does that tell us?
there's hope
there's hope for
who many
religious people would say
are hopeless
you don't know
when you look at somebody
that person is a prostitute
that person's a drug addict
that person is a thing
you don't know
what few verses
that person is holding in their hearts
they might have
only one or two verses
in their hearts
and they've been thinking about that for years.
And that's all God needs to lead them to the cross.
There are churches that are, in my opinion,
really far away from doctrinal soundness.
But people get saved in them
because, in my opinion,
there's enough Word of God
of being spoken in those churches to get people saved.
That's the point I'm trying to make here.
It's the word, the word of God getting into the heart of a person,
and that word will grow inside them and lead them to Christ.
That's what happened here with Rehab.
Of course, Jesus, as the Son of God, was not walking the earth at the time,
but her faith was in Almighty God in heaven, our Heavenly Father.
So let's talk about the risk that she took.
It's easy to read Joshua too as a story about a clever woman making a shrewd bet on the winning side,
and she came out on top.
But that type of viewpoint substantially,
underestimates what she did. Consider her position at the moment the spies, the Israeli spies arrived.
Number one, she was committing treason. The king of Jericho, her ruler, sent messengers directly to her house
demanding the men, the Israelis. That's in Joshua 2, verse 3. She lied to the king's office.
That can get your head chopped off.
She hid enemy agents under flax on her roof.
And she sent the king's messengers in the wrong direction.
She had three counts against her.
She could easily have been beheaded.
Discovery meant execution.
A public one.
Number two, she had no guarantee of
of Israel's victory.
On the natural level,
Jericho had walls thick enough to build houses into.
Her own dwelling was in the wall.
Did you ever think about that, Doc?
She was living in the wall.
Yes.
The place of attack.
Yes.
Her dwelling was upon the town wall.
No army had ever taken it.
So the people of Jericho, their confidence in those walls was not irrational.
It's kind of like the American people's confidence in the U.S. military.
On the surface, yeah, they look, but they can't be defeated.
That's where this is how it was for Rahab and Jericho.
Number three, she had no relationship with these men.
two foreign strangers in her house for one night,
under circumstances they gave her every reason to distrust them.
Her entire security consisted of a verbal promise
from men who had every incentive to say whatever would get them out of the city alive.
For all she knew, the two Israeli men lied to her.
How would she know?
is promised her anything.
Number four, she bound her entire family to the outcome.
We have said, save alive my father and my mother and my brother and my sisters and all that they have.
Everybody, everybody.
And their furniture.
Yeah, nieces and nephews and the dogs of furniture, everything, all that they have.
She did not negotiate for herself.
Notice she never said her own name in this,
save my father, my mother, my brother, my sisters,
and all that they have.
She never said, save me.
She negotiated it for her entire family,
which means her decision placed everyone's lives
on the same.
Should I call it a gamble, a bet?
In her view, it was.
She's gambling.
She's betty.
We know it was.
us and we know it's faith.
So this was not a calculated hedge.
It was an irreversible commitment made on incomplete information against overwhelming odds,
and it is exactly what Hebrews chapter 11 means by faith, the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.
She said, now, therefore, I pray you, swear unto unto,
me by the Lord. She asked them to swear by the God she has just confessed. She's not asking for
their personal guarantee. She's asking them to invoke the God whose reality she has already
settled. Yes. She didn't say, give me your word. She says, swear on the name of your God.
Adam Clerk observed that Rahab's request reveals how completely her conversion had already occurred.
Since a woman still holding Canaanite convictions would have asked for an oath by a God she trusted
rather than one she learned of days before.
She didn't ask them to swear by the name of a Canaanite God.
She asked them to swear by the name of a living God.
God of Israel. That's right. Now, it's necessary for us to talk about the difficulty in this account
because honest teaching requires it. Rahab lied. She told the king's messengers that the men had
departed when they were on her roof. And scripture reports this without comment. And Hebrews 11 and
James chapter two both commend her without addressing it.
Interpreters have handled this in several ways,
and I've heard preachers do some results regarding those two.
Some hold that scripture commends her faith rather than her method,
that Hebrews praises the receiving of the spies,
and James praises sending them out another way,
and neither text endorses the deception of it.
itself. So we've got that. Others note that she was acting under the conditions war for that
explanation against an authority engaged in active hostility toward God's people, and that scripture
elsewhere records similar concealment without censure either. For instance, you got the Hebrew
midwives in Exodus chapter one, who were explicitly blessed by God for their defiance of Pharaoh.
Now, what Scripture is unambiguous about is the verdict, the end result here.
She is commended in Hebrews chapter 11.
She's in the Hall of Faith, right alongside Abraham, right alongside Moses,
and she's also commended in James chapter 2 as justified by her works and named in the genealogy of Christ.
The significant point is this.
God's commendation of a person is not the name.
necessarily a certification of
every single decision that a person makes.
David is called a man after God's own heart, right?
In a Bible that records
Uriah's murder in full and in detail,
Rahab was not commended for getting
everything right. I think that's a lesson
for us to take away from this.
Rahab was not commended for getting everything
right. She was commended because she
heard about God
enacted on it at enormous cost from a position that made faith least likely.
Now, this should be an encouragement for anyone who believes their past, their failures,
or even their present circumstances somehow disqualify them.
God's roll call of faith includes a Canaanite prostitute who lied to soldiers,
and he put her in the roll call of faith by name and in the genealogy of Christ.
It's something really to consider, Rick.
Doc, it's mind-boggling to me
that our Lord Jesus, his human genealogy includes a prostitute.
Do you understand what we just said?
Our Lord Jesus Christ, his human genealogy includes a prostitute.
She's listed in the begots.
All right, she's there.
All right.
She was at the family reunion.
Okay.
You understand?
Jesus' family reunion included a prostitute.
And not on his father's side, but on his mother's side, there were some wild ones in there.
Right?
So don't you worry about who's in your family.
Even Jesus didn't have a family.
and earthly family, full saints.
Now, let's talk about the scarlet thread.
Bind this line of scarlet thread in the window
which thou didst let us down by.
The Israeli spies gave her one instruction
and everything dependent on it.
This Hebrew line, line of scarlet thread.
the first word the line right that deserves some some attention that the Hebrew word means accord
it's and it's also an ordinary Hebrew word for hope yes okay is that why we say I'm down to
my last thread I'm down to my last rope is that where we get that saying
I'm down to my last rope because this word actually means hope.
So the same word that describes the rope hanging from her window
is the word Jeremiah used when he said,
I know the thoughts that I think towards you to give you an expected end,
an end of hope.
It's the same word.
So the cord in Rahab's window was, quite literally,
her cord of hope.
Her cord and her hope
in a single word.
Because on the surface,
this story really doesn't make sense.
Hang a red rope out your window.
What is it got to do with me?
Could it be a blue handkerchief?
No, it had to be a scarlet rope.
there's meaning in these words.
So the rope also means hope.
And she bound the scarlet line in the window.
Note when she did it.
The spies had said, when we come into the land,
thou shall bind this line.
She could have waited.
The Israeli army was not visible.
Jericho's gates were shut.
and no attack had begun.
There was no immediate reason to mark her house.
She tied it that day.
Before the marching, before the trumpets,
before there was any evidence that anything was coming at all.
That is obedient faith acting on a promise
while it is still entirely unconfirmed.
And for seven days of silent marching that followed,
A scarlet horde hung from a window on a town wall
while nothing whatsoever appeared to be happening.
The seven days that the Israelis marched around Jericho,
silent, Rehab's scarlet rope was hanging from her wall.
Did anybody notice it?
No.
It's just a red rope.
hanging from a prostitute's house.
You know what people were looking at?
You know what they were talking about?
There was crazy Israeli soldiers
marching around the walls outside
saying absolutely nothing.
Nobody was paying attention to a red rope
at a prostitute's house,
except God.
Except God.
Because God looked at it and said,
She believes in me.
Amen.
Charles Spurgeon
said the line was visible.
visible to everyone in Jericho and meaningless to all of them.
Something that's visible to everyone, but meaningless to all of them.
A woman's red rope in a window, provoking no curiosity, protecting the only household in the city that would survive.
Amen.
So, Doc, let's talk about the Scarlet Court.
Yes.
and that color is not incidental.
The Hebrew word shani, Scarlet, is it's the color of blood,
and it's the color the law consistently attaches to atonement.
Scarlet was woven into the tabernacle curts,
into the veil, and into the priestly garments.
You can read all about it in Exodus, chapters 26 and 31.
Scarlett was used in the cleansing of the leper and in the ordinance of the red heifer.
You can read that in Leviticus 14 and Numbers 19.
The mechanism to consider here is Passover.
So in Exodus chapter 12, Israel was told to mark their doorpost with blood,
and God declared, when I see the blood, I will pass over you.
the house was not spared because of the character of the people inside.
It was spared because it was marked.
Think about that.
Rahab's house was in a wall that fell flat.
It says in Joshua's 6.20.
The wall fell flat.
And her house alone stood.
That's it.
Because a scarlet line hung from the window.
Now, in Isaiah chapter 1, verse 18, it takes that same color, the same word, and makes it the picture of sin itself.
It says, though your sins be as scarlet, then shall they be as wide as snow.
The color that condemns is the color that saves, depending entirely on whether it is on you or it's over you.
So Rehab safety didn't rest on her worthiness.
She had none.
And Scripture never pretends otherwise.
It never says she was righteous or worthy of anything.
It rested Rick on a mark.
She was told to display, and she did it.
Now, over in the New Testament, 1 Peter, Chapter 1,
verse 18, and 19, it tells us that believers are redeemed not with corruptible
things as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish
and without spot. And so when we consider that, the gathering that she negotiated is worth a final
thought here. Her family had to be inside the house, it says. Joshua 2, starting at verse 18,
and says,
whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street,
his blood shall be upon his head.
They had to believe, too, Rick.
They had to believe to stay inside.
Rahab could secure the mark,
but she could not secure anyone who refused to come under it.
In other words, anyone that stayed with her survived.
I don't know, maybe cousin Earl decided to go out of Rahab's.
house that day. If he did,
he didn't make it, Rick.
He didn't make it. It was not
his relationship
to her. It was that
she was marked and had
a presence there at
that time. They had to believe, too,
Rick. They had to believe as well.
So, Doc,
Charles Bridges
observed that
Rahab
could bind the cord,
but she could not
compel her relatives to remain beneath it.
And that the condition placed on her household, which was stay inside the marked house,
is the pattern of every gathering in God that is, that every gathering that God has ever offered.
It is to be, we have to be under the blood.
Yes.
You have to be in the covenant.
You have to be in Christ.
If you go outside of it, you are at risk.
Your safety, your security is to be in Christ under the blood.
So she couldn't make her family do it.
Each one had to choose to do it.
Have you thought about that, Da?
Her faith was so strong that all of her relatives listened to her.
Yes, and believed.
And believed.
You can see the fighting, you know, you could hear the fighting outside.
And she was telling them, I'm telling you, if you go out there, you'll die.
But if you stay in here, you're covered, you're protected.
That's the message each of us must carry to ourselves and to our families.
As the world becomes more unstable, more dangerous, as the world goes deeper into World War III,
if you were outside Christ, if you're not under the blood.
And Rick, one other thing that we learned from this,
and there's also a New Testament connection to this too,
one of my favorite verses, Acts 1631,
thou shalt be saved and thy house.
One person, Rick, just one person,
one member of a family can save a generation of people.
Now, they still have to believe by faith.
But the faith of one individual can make it made a difference in Rahab and her family.
And the promise that the Apostles said to thou shalt believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
thou shalt be saved in thy house.
Listen, brothers and sisters that are watching listen today,
you keep maintaining the faith in Jesus Christ.
And I'm telling you, I'm telling you from personal experience,
you're going to see family members save.
It was impossible.
impossible for in the natural to ever come to the Lord.
But one person's faith made all the difference, Ray.
That's right.
So what did we learn?
The whole city had the same information.
But Rahab processed it differently.
She didn't have better evidence.
She had the same evidence.
It was processed by a heart willing to follow what she had heard about the God of Israel.
She bet her entire family on a verbal promise from two strangers.
Two men who came from a people with a covenant with this God.
She tied that cord on the same day.
The spy said tied when we come into the land.
She could have waited.
No, she was like, no, I'm tying that thing today.
Amen.
She was in her hurry.
to get that she was in a hurry to get that cord tied as scarlet cord as scarlet cord was
hanging there the entire seven days the Israelites marched around the city amen
pretty's god what a lesson oh man dog i mean we just you know a prostitute arrived at an
understanding of deuteronomy 439 she she somehow heard
the words of Moses or she heard the Holy Spirit.
I don't know which one it was.
A Gentile prostitute.
Yes.
Also, what we learned here is a God's commendation.
Because the Bible commends Rehab.
But that is not a certification of every decision she made.
Also, we learned that the house was not spared for the character
of those inside it.
It was spared because it was marked.
Marked by the scarlet cord,
which represents blood and hope.
It's a lot in this lesson.
I hope it's been a blessing to you.
Please share it with your friends and family.
We all need it.
We need to know this.
We need to understand it in days ahead.
Your security
is in believing God, believing he is who he says he is,
that he does what he says he does,
that he'll back up his promises.
That's your security.
Your security is not in how many gunjo,
how many gold coins you have,
how much food you have stored,
and all those things.
I'm fine with all those things.
That's not your security.
Your security is in believing.
trusting God
that his promises are true
and God
will get you through it
whatever we're facing in the days ahead
God will get you through it
but you trust in him
and teach your family
teach your family
at least get their faith to the place
that they would go with what you say
see
Rehan's family didn't have her faith
but they had faith in Rehab.
I mean, Doc, they're looking up to a prostitute.
They had confidence in Rehab's faith.
They didn't have faith in God.
They had confidence in Rehab's faith in God.
That girl said, do you go outside?
You're going to die.
Do you stay in here?
You're going to live.
You know, I don't know if I ever thought about it, Doc,
that the walls of Jericho fell down, but not Rehab's house.
Right. And they fell down flat. They fell down flat except for her house.
But her house was in the wall. How many times have we seen videos of photographs, you know, a tornado going through a city and there stands one thing, a church, or sometimes just a pulpit in a Bible.
God preserves those who have their faith in him.
