This is True News from Monday, November 11, 2024. Let's begin our analysis and commentary of today's headlines by looking at this article published by the Washington Post. Trump talked to Putin, told Russian leader not to escalate in Ukraine. Now, we'll tell you what the Washington Post reported. President-elect Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. The first phone conversation between the two men since Trump won the election said several people familiar with the matter.

According to the Post, during the call, which Trump took from the resort in Florida, he advised the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington's sizable military presence in Europe, said one person familiar with the call, Doc. Well, the two men discussed the goal of peace on the European continent, and Trump expressed an interest in follow-up conversations to discuss the resolution of Ukraine's war soon, one of the people said. Now, Ukrainian officials have been informed of the Putin call and did not object to the conversation taking place, said two people familiar with the matter. Ukrainian officials have long understood that Trump would engage with President Putin on diplomatic solutions to the war, people said. President-elect Trump's initial calls with world leaders are not being conducted with the support of the State Department and U.S. government

interpreters. The Trump transition team has yet to sign an agreement with the support of the State Department and U.S. government interpreters. Now, President-elect Trump and his aides are distrustful of career government officials following the leaked transcripts of presidential calls during his first term. They're just calling Trump directly, one of the people familiar with the calls said. Now, this information that's being published in The Washington Post is from two sources that— Unnamed. Unnamed sources within the Trump circle that a call took place.

From Mar-a-Lago. Right. Last Thursday. Right. took place from Mar-a-Lago last Thursday. And what did I say last week? Donald Trump, this is, to me, is dangerous for him because he was impeached for calling Zelensky when he was the president. And now to call Putin in the middle of a war

before you've been sworn in sounds dangerous. Now, that was my viewpoint last week. And I just, something didn't seem right, why Donald Trump would take that risk. Other than... A congratulatory call of something like that, right? Well, he wouldn't call Putin to congratulate himself. I mean, if Putin called him and said, congratulations on your victory, or if Mr. Trump called Putin and said, hey, look, sit tight. I want to come January 20th, I'd like to get together with you and talk about things. Okay, that's understandable.

Right. I'm sure he's had that conversation with a number of world leaders over the past few days. But this is not what the Russians are saying happened. They're saying that the Washington Post article is pure fiction. Yes. It's made up. It didn't happen. So let's take a look at what Dmitry Peskov, who is the Kremlin press secretary, said, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not have a phone conversation about the Ukraine conflict, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He didn't say that the call didn't take place, just says that there was no conversation about the Ukraine conflict.

Well, no, I didn't see that so that's perceptive did not have a phone conversation about the ukraine conflict he said this absolutely does not correspond to reality this is pure fiction this information is simply false k Kiev previously denied the claim made by the Washington Post on its piece that the Ukrainian government was informed about the call beforehand and gave its consent

to the U.S.-Russian engagement. And so, seriously? Donald Trump asked Zelensky for permission to call Putin? That's not going to happen in any alternate reality, Rick. Reports that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance of the alleged call are false. The Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman told Reuters on Sunday. So there's two pieces of information that are being challenged within that Washington Post article, the first of which is, of course, that there was some sort of detailed conversation between Putin and President-elect Trump regarding Ukraine and

that Ukraine was informed about the call. And consented. Right. I mean, the whole thing, when I read that line. So what's going on at the Post, Rick? Well, who owns the Post? Jeff Bezos. Okay.

Rocket Man. Well, I think we Post? Jeff Bezos. Okay. Rocket Man. Well, I think we're going to see a pattern here. The Times in London. Who owns the Times? Rupert Murdoch. Right. Okay. Trump will stick with Ukraine and NATO, says UK Defense Secretary. Well, when I read this headline today, just reading the headlines.

Right. Because the propaganda is in the headlines. You read this, and the inference is that the Minister of Defense in Great Britain has been assured by Donald Trump he's sticking with the plan in Ukraine and will remain in NATO. You're right. That's the inference that's being made with this headline. But the reality of the situation is much different as you get into the article. Says Donald Trump will not abandon Ukraine nor turn away from NATO. The defense ministry said John Healy said he expected the U.S. president-elect to stick with Ukraine for as long as it takes, despite Trump's promises to end the war quickly. Just the expectation of Healy.

It's not that he had assurances from Donald Trump or had a conversation with Donald Trump. Who knows if he even knows who Donald Trump is at this point? I mean, the idea is that the headline here kind of gives the idea that, oh yeah, Trump's fully on board. The American European deep state is sending a message to Donald Trump. We expect you to stick with the plan. That's the message. We expect you to stick with the plan. And we've already put out information about a phone call that didn't happen. They're managing the news. And it requires the participation of the news media to manage the news.

So you've got Rupert Murdoch participating in it. You've got Jeff Bezos participating in it. At least the people under them and their organizations. Next one. Oh, I've got to go back to the Times article. Healy said Britain was stepping up support for Ukraine in the months before the change of administration in the United States. Listen to this one. Amid claims there is a fresh push by Sir Kerr Starmer to allow Kiev to use storm shadow missiles to hit targets inside Russia.

There you go. This is the thing I'm concerned about. Is the deep states going to do something radical before January? They're going to hit. They're looking at hitting Moscow before January. They want Putin to fight back before January. They want to put putin in a in a position he has no choice except to hit a nato nation and put the u.s in a position where

they have to respond along with nato of course so that donald trump is sworn into office in the middle of a war now with russia right what are you going to do mr trump are you are you going to do, Mr. Trump? Well, the article says that Poland wants to build an alliance with Britain to prevent what they're calling here in the London Times a sellout of Ukraine by the West when Donald Trump enters the White House next year. So here's a new line. Yeah. Trump's going to sell out Ukraine.

So Donald Tusk, the Polish prime minister, is to hold talks in the coming days with Sir Keir Starmer, President Macron of France, and Mark Rutte, the secretary general of NATO, because of concerns about the impact of the U.S. elections on the war. He said, quote, this new political landscape is a serious challenge for everyone, especially in the context of a possible end to the Russian-Ukrainian war as a result of an agreement between the president of Russia and the new president of the United States, Tusk said. See how they're framing that, that this is going to be a capitulation by Donald Trump to President Putin. Mr. Tusk will meet with Starmer in Warsaw or London as early as this week and host Macron and Ruti in Poland in an attempt to secure Western support for Ukraine via a European alliance that will include the Nordic and Baltic states. His attempt to build an inter-alliance on Ukraine is revealing Europe's fears that a

peace deal with Putin could, through transfers of territory and enforced neutrality for Kiev, hand a victory to Russia. He said, quote, we will very intensely coordinate cooperation with countries that have a very similar view on the geopolitical and transatlantic situation and situation Ukraine has said. Nobody wants the conflict to escalate. He said that with a straight face. At the same time, nobody wants Ukraine to weaken or even capitulate. This would be a fundamental threat to Poland and Polish interests.

Donald Tusk, who dealt with President Trump when he was head of the European Council between 2016 and 2019, once told the media and EU leaders that the American was stupid and on a mission against what we stand for in Europe. Bottom line, Doc, Poland is in on the plan, too. They're all meeting. So you had Starmer and Macron met today. Right. To plot how they're going to block Donald Trump. And Rudy has already made comments similar to that as well.

I mean, he called it a conspiracy if you want to, but these guys are working together to block Donald Trump. That's all this is about. Here's the telegraph. Starmer plots to thwart Trump on Ukraine. So the Telegraph reported today, Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron are expected to plot a last-ditch effort to thwart Donald Trump's efforts to scale back U.S. support for Ukraine. They are expected to discuss on Monday,

and that meeting has already taken place, whether Joe Biden can be persuaded to give Ukraine permission to fire storm shadow missiles deep into Russia, according to UK government insiders. The pressure is going to be on Joe Biden this week.

Joe, you've got to stop Trump. You're the only man who can do it. Joe, you're holding up the war. They're going to say Trump and Putin are going to win and you are going to lose, Joe. You've got time to win this war. Why do these cowards need Biden's permission? Because the missiles were made with U.S. components. Ah, okay. have a catastrophe in the next three months. The way these guys are talking, we are, though. They're determined to do it, Doc. They're panicking. They're absolutely panicking that Donald Trump is coming back to power and will stop this war. He goes on to say, the Telegraph has been told that there are hopes in London that Biden will finally give the approval Kiev has sought for months in an attempt to secure his foreign policy legacy talks will take place in paris as care becomes the first uk leader to

attend armistice day uh in france uh since winston churchill 1944 the knock on impact of the impending trump presidency in the middle east and the possibility of a trade war with Europe are also expected to be discussed. The efforts come as world leaders attempt to work out how drastically Mr. Trump intends to change U.S. policy on Ukraine. See, they've attempted throughout the entire year to Trump-proof the war. But they really didn't think he would win. But now,

they're faced with reality. They thought all of the propaganda were pouring out in the news media against Trump. Surely will convince the American people not to vote for him. But just in case, they were Trump-proofing the war. They were rushing military aid through Ukraine.

But now, he's coming to power. Doc, they know that their Trump-proofing isn't enough. What they did all year to Trump-proof is not enough. They need a war. A big one now. They need to take a two-by-four and hit the beehive. That's what they're after. And we're talking killer bees.

These people are going to hit a killer bee beehive with a two by four. It's total insanity. All of us are at risk. Our lives are at risk. You just want these people to just go away. Just go away. Put them in an insane asylum.

And let them have toy rockets and tanks. I mean, seriously. Let them have their own little war inside an insane asylum. Let them blow it up all day long with toy bombs. They're insane. They should not have power.

So, you know, that headline is probably going to be posted on the wall in a Kremlin so that everybody going down the hallways in a Kremlin, hey, take a look at that. You see that? ABC News. Russia prepares counteroffensive with 50,000 troops, potentially including North Koreans. So when I first read this, I thought it implied that they were 50,000 troops to invade Ukraine. It's actually to push Ukrainian troops out of Russia. Yeah, out of the Kursk region. Okay. So what else do you think that they're supposed to do? You're on Russian territory. Right.

All right. So they're going to push, the Russians are going to push the Ukrainians out. They've got the upper hand now, and they're pushing them out. And they brought in North Korean troops to help. I sure hope the North Koreans don't cross the line into Ukraine. If they do, Doc, that's what these warmongers need. They're salivating for that. Oh, they want it to happen. And Putin would be extremely foolish to send the North Koreans into Ukraine

because that would give the NATO guys the opening to do something drastic. And I hope it doesn't go there. I'm just letting you know, things are not stable just because Donald Trump won. He is going to have his hands full, and he's got his hands full already. This is an avastity in Russia. Russia will not tolerate non-Black Sea countries in the Black Sea. That's according to Nikolai Petrushev. And he is the, I describe him as the Darth Vader of the Russian deep state.

So he said that Westerners must firmly understand that Russia stands firmly on the Black Sea and we will not allow our position in this region to be weakened. And even more so, we will not tolerate the permanent naval presence of non-Black meeting with the command of the Black Sea Fleet. He noted that the fleet is combat ready and ready to counter threats from the sea. There is no defeat of our fleet in the Black Sea and this is despite the fact that Kiev's aggressive actions in this region are coordinated by NATO specialists, the presidential aide said. The next one, we're going to switch from World War III. Folks, we're still in World War III. World War III is not going to end until the 2030s, even with Donald Trump in the White House.

He's not ending World War III. Oh, the cycle is set. Yes, the cycle is already in motion. What Donald Trump has the opportunity to do is to wind down one of the skirmishes in World War III. But the war is not going to end until the 2030s, and he leaves office in January 2029. Right. in January 2029. There'll be a new president taking office in January 2029 and will serve a term till January 2033.

We will be in an all-out war. I'm convinced by that time. Or just sitting on the edge of it. It's sometime in the early 2030s. But I don't believe it's going to happen during the term that donald trump is taking right now it's coming after donald trump and look he can't predict out

Russian plane lands in Israel for possible mediation effort with Iran. This just happened today. A Russian aircraft landed, excuse me, I'll take this back, landed last Thursday. A Russian aircraft landed in Israel on Thursday and later headed back to Moscow for reasons that are currently not clear. Officials denied reports a Russian delegation arrived in the country to negotiate the release of two Israeli-Russian captives held by Hamas. Hamas's deputy Politburo head Musa Abu Marzouk visited Moscow on the same day and spoke with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov about the release. The TU-214SR aircraft that landed in Israel is part of a special Russia flight unit, which

is under Putin's administration. This is a government aircraft that is directly accountable to Putin himself. Right. It's in his personal fleet. Russian media reported that the plane had previously landed at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on October 17. The reports added that Hezbollah temporarily halted its rocket fire into Israeli territory for several hours during the Russian plane stay. During a weekend press conference, Putin said that Israel faced a terrorist attack last year, but that its response was disproportionate and cannot be forgiven. No person on earth can help but feel their heart bleed when they see what is happening

in the Gaza Strip, Putin said. Doc, based on that, where would you say Putin's sympathies lie? Not with Israel. Not with Israel. Putin suggested that the war could be resolved via the establishment of a Palestinian state, adding that Russia is in close contact with Iran. He also stressed Russia's intention to resolve Tehran's conflict with Israel based on compromises. All right.

I'm going to make a really wild prediction. I don't know if it's going to happen. I'll just say a possibility. Okay. I'm ready. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump work together and end the Ukraine war. Okay? Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump work together and stop a war between Israel and Iran and bring about a Palestinian state.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are both given the Nobel Peace Prize. Wow, that's really going out there on the limb. But it's not far-fetched, though. I don't think it's far-fetched. No, but the deep state is terrified of it. They're terrified of it because they're ending wars. But this is a possibility.

There's something going on here. There's a reason this Russian plane under Putin's administration is landing in Israel. There are negotiations going on. So we don't know everything that's taking place right now. There are things happening behind the scenes that none of us know about, but we can only speculate.

Now, Times of Israel reporting, Netanyahu says he and Trump see eye to eye on Iran after holding three calls within days. That's Netanyahu's viewpoint. I don't doubt he had phone calls. I'm not so sure he sees eye-to-eye with Iran. Mr. Trump made a comment about Netanyahu.

Let's try to think how long ago it was, that had some, it had a word that I absolutely am not going to utter on this program in describing Mr. Netanyahu. I don't think I don't think Donald Trump cares for Netanyahu. I think Netanyahu desperately hopes he does. But I don't think Donald Trump trusts him. I don't think Donald Trump really likes him. And I don't think Donald Trump will defend him. I think Donald Trump will help Israel get rid of Netanyahu because Donald Trump does not want war.

And he knows if he is working with Netanyahu, there's going to be a war. He knows that guy. He knows Netanyahu. He knows he's a snake. He's slippery. He's sneaky. He's devious. And he knows if I get in an He knows Netanyahu. He knows he's a snake. He's slippery. He's sneaky. He's devious.

And he knows if I get in an alliance with Netanyahu, that snake will pull me into a war. I think Donald Trump is going to help remove Netanyahu from power and install an Israeli prime minister that Putin and Trump can work with. Well, do you think they're Trump-proofing Israel right now, too, with the removal of Gallant and maybe a controversy regarding Gantz? Well, Netanyahu is in deep trouble. This thing's worsening by the day. And we have not, we really haven't spent time going into the details about what has happened in Israel in the past week. Netanyahu is in a lot of trouble. He's always been in trouble. He always manages to wiggle. Well, how does he wiggle

out? He starts a war. Somebody's got to die to keep Netanyahu in power. I want you to see this next headline. It came out today. Shin Bet. Now, Shin Bet is the Israeli FBI. It's their national police. Shin Bet stages coup against prime minister, says his son, Yair. Right. ayer right netanyahu's son said today on twitter that the israeli national police shimbet

is staging a coup against his father to remove his father doc they want to get him out the jews look the the leading zionists of the world know that Netanyahu is bad for the brand. They know they can't allow him to continue. He's bad for the brand. He's damaged the brand of Zionism so bad. It's going to take them years to recover from Gaza, from the destruction, the images that people have. I mean, what happened in Amsterdam last week, a horrible thing where, you know, the fights that broke out after a game, and there's a lot more details that hasn't come out.

But what's happening is that people are fed up. They're angry. They're furious over Gaza. Okay? fed up. They're angry, they're furious over Gaza. And so the wealthy Jewish leaders know that Netanyahu is bad news. They want to get rid of him. There's a hardcore group of radical radical Zionists who really want a theocracy. They want an Old Testament theocracy in Israel. That's really what they're after. And their main supporters are Christian Zionists in America. That's what's propping them up, Christian Zionists.

And so the Christian Zionists are a big part of the Donald Trump political movement. So Netanyahu is counting on the Christian Zionists in America to keep the pressure on Donald Trump to allow Netanyahu to keep killing Palestinians. But the Jewish leaders know this is a formula for disaster, a disaster for Zionism. So they've got to get rid of him somehow. So let's – we'll jump into what's going on here. So, Doc, you just – before I walked into the studio at the start of this program, you showed me some headlines that just came out of Israel. I don't even know if we have them available to show. Oh, regarding Benny Gantz? Yes. some headlines that just came out of Israel. I don't even know if we have them available to show.

Oh, regarding Benny Gantz? Yes. So Benny Gantz is a, well, wait a minute, or Gallant. Benny Gantz. Wait a minute. Yeah. Wait a minute. He fired Gallant.

Right. But remember the story was about a senior defense official and an aide. And then this story comes out. I thought it was Gallant. Well, that was what was inferred in the article the other day. But if you guys could— Gallant was a defense minister who Netanyahu fired. Yes, very recently. And the reason for what appears to be the firing is that there are government documents that have been altered.

Yes. And those documents had to do with transcripts of private, you know, classified meetings at the start of the Gaza war. So apparently Netanyahu was changing the minutes of the meetings. Right. To prevent him from being arrested for war crimes. Right. But there was also supposedly a video that was floating around that showed a senior defense official and an aide together. So I assume that was Gallant.

No, that was Benny Gantz. Now, this is just, and this is breaking out on Channel 12 in Israel. Iranian observer picked this up. Interesting story here. Iranian hackers broke into the phone of former Israeli defense minister Benny Gantz, revealing a sex scandal with Netanyahu's personal physician. Okay, this is getting strange now. I've got to read this.

They broke into the phone of Benny Gantz, who was the defense minister prior to Gallant, and revealed his sex scandal with Netanyahu's personal physician. Was the personal physician female or male? I don't know yet. I'm still trying to wade through some of the information. This stuff's just coming out. Right. What we're seeing is there's a campaign to remove Netanyahu. Yes.

Also, there's another scandal that's – they're percolating so rapidly right now in Israel. I'm having trouble keeping up with it. There's another scandal that part of this altering of government documents, transcripts of meetings, had to do with covering up the fact that Netanyahu knew in advance that Hamas was going to attack on October 7th. Yes. Oh, I believe he did. And he's covering it up because he was warned. And what it is is he was told that Hamas had activated SIM cards. All right.

And he knew about it. He knew that the SIM cards had been activated. And he took no action. He allowed the October 7th attack to be carried out. So they knew where these Hamas terrorists were at all times. Of course. They were following their phones. And they knew when the SIM cards were activated.

Oh, my goodness. If that comes out, if that's true. It just broke. For me, I just saw it like an hour or two ago. It's fresh news. Well, actually, we have that story right now, if we can bring that up. This is from Jerusalem Post. I don't know if you guys, Eric just posted it to control, if you could bring that up real quick.

Look at that, Rick. Okay, this is today. October 7th activation of Hamas SIM cards at heart of PMO investigations. That's Prime Minister office. Oh my goodness. Wow. They're going to remove him.

They're going to remove Netanyahu. Let me put it like this. There is a concerted effort by powerful Jews. I'm telling you, powerful Jews are behind it to remove Netanyahu. They have to get rid of this guy. They have to replace him with, quote, a moderate Zionist to save the state. And he is headed towards war with Iran to save his political career. And I think wealthy, powerful

Jewish leaders, including people in Shembet, people in Mossad, know that Iran has weapons that will do serious damage to Israel. And they don't want this war.

And I think that they're working with the Russians. I think they're working. I think Putin is secretly negotiating with the Iranians and Hamas. I think Donald Trump is working with Putin to end the war in Ukraine and also to bring about a settlement in the Middle East. Remember, the Trump administration had a Middle East plan. Oh, yeah, the Abraham Accords. Yes. And then Mr. Trump talked to Mahmoud Abbas last week.

I really think Donald Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize. I do, Doc. I believe he wants it. I believe he wants his legacy to be he solved problems in prevented wars. And I really think we could see the removal. Oh, another one. The Attorney General of Israel is on the verge of removing Ben-Gavir. I hadn't heard this story.

That's today also. That the Attorney General of Israel is going to issue an order that Ben-Gavir be removed from his position of power. I'm telling you, they're dismantling Netanyahu's administration to stop a war with Iran to stop the destruction of Lebanon to stop the continued destruction of Gaza because they know there's no end to this with Netanyahu he will bomb and kill until there's no tomorrow

in order to stay in power. So Donald Trump has to walk kind of a tightrope here in supporting Israel and its, quote, right to defend itself, unquote, but not with Netanyahu there. Right. is going to quietly jettison the Jewish leaders who have been in his inner circle. I don't know what he does with Mary Addison because she's pumped a lot of money. Well, he doesn't need any more money now. He doesn't need it. He doesn't need it. Okay.

So I don't know what he's going to do with Mrs it. Okay? So I don't know what he's going to do with Mrs. Allison. But I don't know. She is a supporter of Netanyahu. But you can, again,

powerful, wealthy Jewish leaders privately, I am convinced, are saying among themselves, we have to get rid of Netanyahu or we're going to lose

the state of Israel. We're setting Zionism back 100 years. And we're going to lose it all. And he's got to go. And I think they're going to take him out. It's amazing times, but it's a dangerous time to be in. It's dangerous. Because when snakes know that they're going to be rounded. It's dangerous because when snakes know that

from the Trump election. We're all relieved, okay, that Donald Trump won the election, and I believe there's going to be some major changes. But don't fool yourself into thinking that the unicorns are going to come out. You know,

we're going to have rainbows and unicorns just because he won. No, there are people who are intent not to let him do the things that he believes is right. And that will make this dangerous.

Then says Jesus unto them, all ye shall be offended because of me this night. For it is written, I will smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But again, I am risen. Excuse me, but after I am risen again i will go before you into galilee peter answered and said unto him though all men shall be offended because of thee yet will i never be offended jesus said unto him verily i say unto thee that this night

before the cock crow thou shall deny me thrice peter said to him though i should die with thee yet will i not deny thee likewise also said all the disciples okay god bless you before we start the lesson i've got a couple a couple announcements and things I just want to share with the class. It's the holidays. And a lot of our staff goes away because they go home to their home states to see their family. So we'll take a break at mid-December and come back in early January. So those are the housekeeping announcements announcements for the morning and we'll give you more details as we go. All right, we get into lesson 31. Verse 31, then saith Jesus unto them, all ye shall be offended because of me this night, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered abroad so jesus forewarns all of his disciples that all of the disciples will fall away or stumble because of him and he emphasizes that none of them will remain steadfast in their loyalty during his time of suffering. Right.

So we will see that, you know, Peter will make a strong declaration of loyalty, claiming he would never abandon Jesus. But Jesus just said, all of you, all of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight. It is written, I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered. The term stumble or offend it is a significant term.

It implies a failure to stay faithful to Jesus. Right. It reflects the disciples' inability to withstand the pressure of the upcoming trials without faltering in their commitment, their loyalty to Christ. As we have studied in the past in the lessons in Matthew, the Greek word translated as stumble is skandalizo. Our English word scandal is derived from it. Skandalizo is derived from the Greek word skandalon,

which means a trap, a stumbling block, an obstacle. Yes. And so in this context, in the Bible, it means to cause somebody to be offended, to stumble and to fall into sin. In the New Testament, the word can refer to leading somebody into doctrinal error or causing them to be offended in a way that leads them away from the Christian faith and righteous living. So it carries a moral, spiritual connotation that indicates a serious hindrance,

a rupture in one's relationship with God. So Jesus said all the disciples would stumble. All of them would fall away into sin because of him. None would survive the pressure. All would cave in. All would be offended by association with him. So this term, shall be offended, implies that their faith in Jesus will be severely shaken. And that will cause them to publicly falter in their allegiance to Christ.

To the point of denying him. that same word scandal eat so is also in marks rendition of the parable the sower he talks about those that have no root and they they are offended that causes them to stumble and fall and so it fits into that same picture there which uh implies how serious it is to discard the word away and sin now this prediction contrasts with jesus's earlier prophecy regarding the betrayal by a single traitor

he just earlier had said one of you is a snake. Now he's saying, he's not saying you men are snakes. He's saying, none of you guys will stay with me. There's a difference. There was no hope for Judas. There was something evil and wicked in his heart. Satan literally took possession of him. But with the other men, he's saying, I know you say you love me. I know you say you're devoted to me. But guys, I'm telling you, things are going to get so bad in the coming hours. You're going to say you never knew me.

So he quoted Zechariah 13.7. It is written. It's interesting that the God who inspired Scripture falls back on the Scripture he inspired. Amen. And yet, Doc, every word out of Jesus' mouth is inspired Scripture. That's right. He confirms the word but he wrote the word he spoke the word and he is what he is the word it goes beyond that he he confirms where he is the word you can't separate the word from Jesus. They're synonymous. So he quotes Old Testament prophet Zechariah, chapter 13, verse 7,

speaking of striking down the shepherd and the sheep scattering. The Old Testament prophecy directly applies to the events that are about to unfold. And so Jesus implies that the upcoming events align with prophetic fulfillment. In the prophecy, the shepherd symbolizes Jesus. The sheep represent his disciples. And the striking of the shepherd points to Jesus' suffering and his death. I will smite the shepherd. Listen to what it says.

I will smite the shepherd who's smiting the shepherd the father it's not Satan God has a role in allowing Jesus to face betrayal and suffering. God smites the shepherd. It's so hard to comprehend. So the disciples will scatter in fear, each choosing self-preservation over loyalty to Jesus.

And this abandonment is an act of human weakness under immense pressure. None of us know what we would do under the heaviest pressure none of us we none of us have ever been have faced this kind of pressure and we don't know what we we would do. If somebody was torturing your child and ordering you to do something to stop the, if you did a certain thing, it would stop the torturing. Would you succumb to the pressure? So the scattering is not just a physical fleeing, but it's a spiritual fleeing. It's a spiritual disorientation. The disciples struggled to make sense of Jesus' arrest. And the talk of a crucifixion. What is going on here? You can imagine their confusion.

And they weren't even with each other. They scattered in separate ways. Right. They didn't separate ways. Right. They didn't run as a group. They each ran for their lives in different directions. At that point, they were just trying to save their own skin.

How could this be happening and yet it was prophesied and yet it was prophesied yes how could it happen how could Jesus allow this to happen how could he know it was going to happen and then allow it

why isn't God doing something he is yes he is doing something he struck the shepherd you see that doesn't make sense it doesn't make sense in the human mind god struck the shepherd shepherd god is allowing the jews and the the Romans to murder his son none of it made sense and so we have to be we have to make allowance for these men you know I jokingly call knuckleheads before the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But in this case, we have to make allowance for them.

These men, these were young men in their 30s. They were terrified. They were absolutely terrified of what was happening. For all they knew, they were going to be arrested too. Right. They were all going to be nailed to crosses if a tyrant broke in and on sunday morning and arrested your pastor and said we're going to execute this man How many people would remain in the church building? Be honest about it.

Most people would jump through windows to get out. They could make all the proclamations about, I'll stand with my pastor, do anything. No, you'll run. Yeah, that's true, Rick. You let a SWAT team come into a church heavily armed, pointing semi-automatic rifles at the congregation.

Tell me how many are going to jump up and defend the pastor. Nobody. It still works today. Strike the pastor, strike the shepherd, and the sheep will scatter. It still works today. And Satan knows it, and he uses

it in many nations thank God we don't have that happening here but in other countries it does happen and they know all we have to do is strike the Shepherd and the sheep will run. Now, Zechariah's prophecy, I mean, it's clearly meant for this moment. But it also was applicable to a period in the early church. During the tyranny of Antiochus when he rounded up the shepherds and plunged God's people into desolation so throughout time, there have been these tyrants who have gone after the shepherds for the purpose of scattering the sheep. It's a formula, like, hey, all we have to do is get the head guy. We don't have to arrest everybody.

We just arrest the head guy. Just arrest the shepherd. Make an example out of the shepherd and watch the sheep run. So the principle still works. So Jesus identifies himself as the shepherd who willingly accepts this suffering, accepts his sacrificial role. He's not only a leader, but a protector and a redeemer who would lay down his own life for his followers. So Jesus, he's acknowledging the inevitability of this trial

I mean at one point he said hey you know I could snap my finger and there would be legions of angels here to rescue me he allowed them to crucify him because it was the divine plan.

If he did not allow these events to take place, mankind would never be redeemed. You and I to this day would be still trapped in our sin and have no eternal life. We'd have an eternal life, but it wouldn't be with him. That's right. So, this... Speaking of the prophecy of Zechariah, comes out of the mouth of Jesus as they are at the Mount of Olives, where they feel close to him.

And yet, they're profoundly troubled by the words coming out of his mouth. You just told us that one of our own will betray you. Now you're quoting Zechariah. You're telling us, we know who you're talking about. You're telling us you are going to be struck down. And you're telling us that all of us are going to run. It had to have been their spirits' minds deeply troubled as they listened to Jesus tell them what was happening at that very moment that night.

But even though the disciples will abandon Jesus, there's a sense of hope in his words because he knows that their loyalty will ultimately be restored because God's grace allows for redemption and growth after failure. That's a lesson all of us need to know. In life, there are times we will fail.

And God knows that and he's okay with it. And he's made provisions of grace for our redemption and our restoration and our growth after failure. Right. So even though Jesus saw them being offended, he also saw them after the resurrection. That's what he, you know, the next verse is saying to us here. I'm seeing beyond the failure here i'm seeing beyond yes i know you're going to be offended you're going to be scattered but i'm also going to go before you after i'm risen again i'll go before you in galilee with an expectation

that they would be there with them yes praise god that that should get you excited today he said look beyond your faults when when God looks at you and me he does not see our faults he sees us redeemed in Christ I I, you know, it's just an imaginary teaching tool, all right, that God looks at us with sunglasses that are tinted red. He looks at us through the blood of Christ. He doesn't see our faults. He sees us redeemed. He sees us perfect. He sees us victorious. He's always seeing us as we are in Christ. If you want to tell him your faults, he won't even know what you're talking about. He sees you redeemed. He sees you perfect.

Verse 32. But after I am risen again, I will go before you in Galilee. Wow. Guys, I'm telling you, things are going to get dark here for a few days. But after I'm risen from the dead, I'll meet you in Galilee, and we'll have breakfast. Hallelujah.

It's only going to last a couple days. It's okay, guys. It's only going to last a couple days. And then I'm going to come out of my grave and meet you in Galilee, and we're going to have breakfast, just like the good old days. That's what he's saying here in verse 32. He foretells his resurrection after his crucifixion he offers his disciples a message of hope and assurance think of somebody you dearly love you're bonded with this person and this person's telling you i I'm going to die in a couple days. It's going to be an ugly death.

I mean, it's going to be really messy. It's going to be ugly. Don't think about it. Don't worry about it. I'm coming back to life. I'll meet you for breakfast. Who thinks like this, Doc? Who talks like this?

Jesus. Jesus. Only Jesus. He's the only person in the universe who talks like this. I'll get through it. Don't worry about it.

It's only death. I'll conquer it. I'll conquer that thing. I'll take keys of helen's death from satan i'll come out of that grave victorious he see he was already he'd already conquered death before he said these words he'd he'd raise people from the dead and now he's going to raise himself yes that just that blows me away he would raise himself from the dead now i'm telling you if you die i want you there in your grave i want you to grunt and do everything you can to raise yourself out of that grave tell me tell me how it works what do you got to do what do you got to say what do you have to

grunt what you know what how do you work up enough energy to bring yourself out of the grave. Because you're dead. You're dead. How are you going to do it? Jesus did it. Yes. And if he's got that kind of power, he'll resurrect your body on the day of judgment. Hallelujah. Glory. If he's got that kind of power,

he'll resurrect every saint that's ever lived. Praise God. He didn't just have enough power for himself. He's going to share it with everybody that believes in him. Hallelujah. That's what this entire message is about the entire Bible it's about the resurrection it is the promise of a resurrection on the last day it is not about the state of Israel it's not about

Jerusalem it's not about a Zionist Empire it's about the resurrection glory that's the only message we should be preaching it's it's resurrection not real estate that's right praise Godas betrayed jesus over real estate judas was the first christian zionist and he betrayed the lord for the cause of zionism from now on i'm declaring judas the father of christ Zionism so he clearly predicts his own resurrection and yet his disciples struggle to grasp its full significance it was too much for them if they understood that they would not have fled right they would say okay i'll just go where do you want me to hang out until you're alive again that's all they had to say okay lord i believe you where should we where should we where should we gather until you're back in life?

He could have said, oh, no, go over to Bethany and hang out with Mary and Martha. You know, I mean, if he believed him. But he told him, he said, go meet me in Galilee. That should have been, all right, we'll meet you there. But no, they're going to just within hours of this, Jesus saying this. You got it, doc. That's right there. They already had the instruction.

They should have said, okay, Jesus, we're out of here. We're going to Galilee. We're going to fish until you get there. If they believed him, they didn't believe him he said i'm going to raise myself from the dead and they didn't believe him they could only believe the negative stuff i'm going to die they're going to hang me on a cross it's going to be bad bad bad they believe. They believed that part. They couldn't believe the good part. He was going to raise himself from the dead and meet them in Galilee.

See, what does Jesus say to you that you can't believe? Who? Wow. Wow, Rick. that's profound there's people right now all over the world listening to me and jesus has said things to you that you can't believe and you won't go there and meet him he said you're healed but you won't believe it he said you're blessed but you won't believe it he said you're seated in heavenly places but you won't believe it. He said you're blessed, but you won't believe it. He said you're seated in heavenly places, but you don't

believe it. He said you're more than a conqueror, but you don't believe it. This is all about believing what he said. Our entire walk is about believing what Jesus said. There are amazing teachers in the church who know far more about the Bible than I do, but they don't believe it.

I believe it. If you don't believe it, what's the point in studying it? Just so you look smart? Believe it. He wants to be believed. He desires to be believed. That's God's passion. He desires to be believed. Because when you believe him, you trust him. You have faith in him. Without faith, it's impossible to please God. 1 John says, if you love me, keep my commandments.

Keep my instructions. Keep my instructions. Keep my instructions. The three epistles of John tell us two things about disciples. The world knows that we're his disciples by our love, one for another. But the Father knows that we're disciples of Christ if we keep the Lord's commandments. Yes. Very good. Very good point.

And if you love him, you keep the commandments. That's right. All of mine start with that. Can't separate it. If you don't keep his commandments, it means you don't love him. Right. So, Jesus specifically mentions Galilee.

He says, this is the place of our reunion. It's where I began my ministry. It's where I performed many miracles. And it's where I'm going to say goodbye to you guys. But before we say goodbye, I'm going to fry some good fish. And I'm going to have some fresh bread. And we're going to enjoy breakfast together.

And I'm going to spend 40 days with you. And I'm going to tell you things that are going to blow your mind. And what I tell you during these 40 days will propel you for the rest of your lives. You'll be able to face anything because of what I'm going to tell you during those 40 days. That's a whole other lesson. We'll get to it. They weren't talking baseball for 40 days. I mean, what do you think brought about this transformation of these men? So,

he assures them of his guidance. Hey, they're striking down the shepherd, but it's temporary. I'll be back. Your shepherd will return to you. You'll meet your shepherd in Galilee. This is a temporary disruption the meeting in galilee is not only the reunion but it's it's the renewal of of their apostolic mission it's where jesus commissions them to go into all the nations of the world first 33 but Peter answered even if all will be made to stumble

because of you I I will never be made to stumble there's Peter flapping his lips getting himself in trouble with his mouth these guys Lord these guys over here, yeah, yeah. I can imagine they'll stumble. Not me. Not me. Not me, Lord. I won't stumble. The person who says, who boasts, I'll never fail, I'll never sin, I'll never fall, is the one that's going to fall first. Don't boast that way.

Don't ever boast. I would never commit that sin. Well satan will set you up for it yes so really well let me set a trap for you don't boast that you'll never commit a sin and that's what that's what peter was doing He's boasting he wouldn't sin. He would stumble, scandal, and scandal, fall away, deny, be offended. I'll never be offended by my friendship with you. I'm your loyal friend forever, Jesus. Nobody's going to scare me. So, you know, in his heart, he believed that he was loyal to Christ,

but he had never faced the pressure that was about to come on him. Right. Based on past experience, he was accurate. But there was a situation coming within hours that he had never faced in his lifetime. So he's declaring his confidence in his own ability to withstand any trial that he he would be able to rely on his own strength rather than dependence on god's strength because that's what he's boasting about

right his own strength how many times he says I I I I I you know Peter saying that it's me I will not deny you yeah even if I die I will not be offended by you I yes so his testing is coming up and it's right around the corner you know Luke mentions that Satan had a desire to test Peter

and you know that's a that's a sobering thought for all of us. You know, you get Satan's, you know, you attract, your devotion to Christ, your zeal for Christ is so great that you attract Satan's attention. Right. He goes, you know, I'm going to test that guy. I I'm gonna test that guy I'm gonna test that woman but even even though Satan tested him Satan could only test Peter

with the father's authority yes that's that wrapped your brain around back just like with Joe God told Satan I'll let you I'll let you persecute Job, but you can't kill him. Those were the boundaries. Satan wanted to kill him. God said, no, you can't kill him. What was God what was God expecting out of Job Job you're going to go through the worst testing

of your life you've got a good heart you're going to come through it and it there was a great deal struggle in Job's life until he got victory over it and he didn't have Jesus he didn't have the in Job's life until he got victory over it. And he didn't have Jesus.

He didn't have the Holy Spirit at that time. He had to work through it himself. So Peter expresses a willingness to die with Jesus, as we will read. But he misunderstands Jesus's mission. He doesn't understand the necessity of Jesus dying on the cross to redeem Peter, to save Peter from being Peter. Peter's thinking, me, Peter, I will save you, Jesus. I'm your big brother. Look, I'm taller than you, Jesus.

I just, I picture Peter as being the tallest one in the crowd. You know, he was the alpha male. Right. And I'm sure, I'm sure he was like, Jesus, you got me. Nobody's going to hurt you. Nobody's going to get past me. I will save you. And Jesus is like, Peter, you can't even save yourself.

I'm going to die to save your soul. I'm going to die to save you from yourself. It's yourself that's taking you to hell. So Peter's overconfidence was due to his failure to recognize his limitations as a human. Without the Holy Spirit in his life. He didn't even know about the Holy Spirit. Remember, this is pre-Holy Spirit. They're operating in their own strength. Did I just do the last verse, 35?

No. Not yet. Yeah. You've alluded to it, 35? No. Not yet. Yeah. You've alluded to it, but we haven't done it. Okay. Yeah. So let's go on down to verse 34. 34, Jesus said to him, most certainly, I will tell you that tonight before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.

So now, you think of the shock on Peter's face. Jesus said, look, Peter, I'm going to tell you something. Most certainly, this is guaranteed. You can take this to the bank, Peter. Before the rooster crows in the morning, you will deny me three times tonight. I can imagine Peter drawing back with shock on his face. This very night. Tonight? You mean tonight?

Yes, tonight. Before the sun comes up. Those roosters start crowing, you know, four or five o'clock in the morning. And before that rooster crows three times, or before that rooster crows three times or before that rooster crows you're gonna done deny me three times and I can just imagine the stunned look shock and indignation on Peters face no way that is not going to happen to me and yet he inside he's his heart's racing because jesus just said most certainly and he knows peter has heard jesus say

most certainly verily he's heard this and he knows that whenever he says it, it happens. Yes. And so when those words come out of his mouth, you just know this is going to happen. He just said, I'm going to deny him three times tonight, not over the next three months. Tonight, this is going to be a bad night. So despite Peter's declarations of loyalty, Jesus' prophecy reveals there's a significant disconnect between Peter's self-assurance and the reality of his coming fear and vulnerability. And so his denial, it exemplifies our human weakness. As even the most devoted followers can collapse under pressure. The mention of the rooster serves as a, it's a natural timekeeper.

Before you look at your watch, at 6 a.m., you'll do this. No, that rooster is the watch. That's the clock. That rooster is going to mark the dawn of the day. Right. And I'll just fast forward. We'll get into this in another chapter.

But Jesus asked Peter, do you love me? Three times. How many times? Three times. Jesus makes Peter, this is in the future, Jesus makes Peter say it three times. I love you. Peter, do you love me? Peter, do you love me?

Peter, do you love me? Three times. making Peter use his mouth to confirm his love and loyalty to Christ the precise number of times that he denied Christ. With his mouth. With his mouth. Yes. In other words, Jesus activated Peter's tongue to undo the damage that he did on this night. Peter, not too long ago, three times you sinned with your mouth. Now, I want you to bless with your mouth three times. I want you to undo what you did with your tongue.

There are people today listening to me, you've done great damage to other people with your tongue. You need to verbally undo it you need to make it right with your tongue that tongue is powerful I'm going to jump down here I'm trying to watch our time here we have about 10 minutes are we okay? verse 35

Peter said even if I must die with you I will not deny you and all the other disciples said likewise. Peter that time it was expressing his his commitment and and can and willingness to face death rather than to deny Jesus but he had not yet faced the temptation See, we can make big promises before the trial arrives. When the trial arrives, that's when the promises fade away. Few people are willing to keep their promises when the situation becomes dire. I'll give

you an example in the Old Testament, the widow of Zarephath. She had promised God she was going to feed a prophet. I personally believe she that that vow to God when times were good probably yeah I think God asked her I'm gonna send a prophet to you would you agree to feed the prophet of course Lord of course bring him over bring him over she had plenty of food she didn't know about the famine that was coming and then at the worst part the lowest part of the famine when she's down to enough flour and oil to make one more pancake and she and her little boy are going to eat the pancake and then they're going to die because they're going to starve to death that's when the prophet shows up you talk about an eye roll moment i think

she saw him coming down the road and she instantly knew oh oh oh i just know in my i know that i know that's the prophet i have to feed okay now it's not easy to keep the promise, is it? Sometimes you make a vow to God that you're going to give something to God for the work of his kingdom. And then when the time comes to give it, the conditions are not right. They're not pleasant for you. And you withdraw from fulfilling the vow because it's more difficult

to keep the vow. Yes. And that's happened to me and God has taught me a lesson on it. You make a vow, you fulfill the vow. No matter what. So at this time, you know, Peter in his mind is, you know, he's boasting,

if I have to die, I'll do it. And then all the other disciples agreed. Me too. We're in this all the way. Really? How long did it last how many hours did it last their commitment didn't last days or weeks or months it didn't last hours right because they didn't they didn't know the magnitude of the testing that was coming they didn't they didn't foresee Judas coming into their private place where they were in seclusion, praying, spending their time with Jesus at night. They didn't foresee Judas coming in and bringing temple guards with him, armed with swords and an arrest warrant.

They just didn't see it coming not that night and so it was easy for them to make a promise they wrote a check they couldn't cash and people do that often their tongues write checks that their hearts won't cash and so whatever is coming out of your mouth when you're making a promise to God Their tongues write checks that their hearts won't cash. And so whatever is coming out of your mouth, when you're making a promise to God,

know that you've got to keep it. You have to fulfill that promise. If you're not going to fulfill it, don't make the promise. Don't make the vow. By vehemently denying that he would disown Jesus, Peter is recognizing that to deny Jesus is a grave failure or sin. He said, Lord, if I die with you, I won't deny you. That's how serious, at least at that moment, he took it. Yes.

Doc, do you have any final comments you want to make here before we close for the day? Well, I think we need to understand that Peter, even though he denied Jesus three times, as you stressed earlier, he had not been filled with the Holy Spirit yet. And there's always the concern on people's hearts, would I deny Christ? I would say to you, get the assurance in your own heart and life that the Spirit resides in you, that the Holy Spirit rests on you. After, look at the difference between Peter here on this night when he eventually denied Christ to when he stood up before thousands on the day of Pentecost and preached a message of salvation that saw so many saved that day. Something radical happened to Peter after the Holy Spirit came upon him. And that radical change is available to anyone right now in their own life. And so I would encourage you to seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Get the word in you more than anything else because Peter also had the advantage later on of receiving 40 days of instruction directly from Jesus as well. So that's part of it too. But I would encourage everyone, if you're worried about denying Jesus,

get alone with the Lord and receive the power of the Holy Spirit in your life to help you overcome temptation. It's only the Holy Spirit that does it anyway. Now, there are two more observations I want to make. First of all, Jesus did not rebuke Peter and the other disciples after their declarations, even though he knew they would not keep their word.

Right. He didn't rebuke them. He understood their humanity. And he knew they would fail. Right. But he also knew he was going to the cross to redeem them from their failures. Yes. The mission on the cross was more important than rebuking Peter and his disciples.

He knew, I'll solve this problem later. Guys, I'm just telling you right now you're not going to stick with me I know it but that's all I'm going to say about it right now the second thing I would say is that Jesus made sure that Peter kept his word Peter said I would die for you how How did Peter die? Crucified upside down, according to tradition. Peter was crucified on a cross upside down. Because he didn't feel he was worthy to be crucified right side up.

Yes, but he was crucified. Jesus kept Peter to his word and Peter was proud he was delighted to be crucified he was he was delighted at the end of his life you don't think Peter wasn't thinking about that night you know he was thinking yeah jesus after all these years decades later you haven't forgotten what i said and i'm honored i'm honored to be nailed to a cross i said said I would die for you. I would die with you. He died with Christ on the cross. He died

with Christ on the cross. Christ was there on the day Peter was crucified. Christ was beside him saying, Peter, the pain won't last forever. You can hold up. You can do this, Peter.

You can do this. I'm here with you, Peter. And Peter hanging on the cross saying, yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. I'm dying on a cross with you. I kept my word, Jesus. I kept my word, Jesus. I kept my word. He won.
