Let's start with this report from Fox News this

morning. As you see, Fox reporting Hunter Biden will not sit for deposition by GOP. Says father not financially involved in his business. So Ricky showed up at Capitol Hill today, but he says he's refusing to testify because he wants to do it publicly rather than in secret. That's his reasoning there. So Hunter Biden arrived on Capitol Hill Wednesday not to comply with this subpoena and be deposed at the House Oversight Committee, but ended up holding a press conference and again offering to testify publicly. He maintained that his father, President Biden, was not financially involved in his business and saying there's no evidence because it did not happen. Now, Hunter Biden offered to testify publicly is a de facto rejection of the GOP demand that he appear in the closed-door deposition he was subpoenaed for, and that deposition was scheduled to take place this morning at 930. Instead, he delivered a public statement on Capitol Hill,

blasting MAGA Republicans who have invaded his privacy, attacked his family, and ridiculed my struggle with addiction. They belittled my recovery, and they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass my father, who has devoted his entire life to public service. For six years, I've been a target of the unrelenting Trump attack team. Where's Hunter? Well, here's my answer. I'm here. Hunter Biden added that my father was not financially involved in my business, saying he was not involved in his dealings with Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings or his Chinese investments and others in the U.S. And we have a brief clip of Hunter Biden's

statement in front of Capitol Hill today. Let me state as clearly as I can. My father was not financially involved in my business, not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad and certainly not as an artist. During my battle with addiction my parents were there for me. They literally saved my life. They helped me in ways that I will never be able to repay. Of course they would never expect me to. And in the depths of my addiction, I was extremely irresponsible with my finances.

But to suggest that as grounds for an impeachment inquiry is beyond the absurd. It's shameless. There is no evidence to support the allegations that my father was financially involved in my business because it did not happen. James Comer, Jim Jordan, Jason Smith and their colleagues have distorted the facts. Well, Doc, that was a cute attempt to be the victim. Yes. But it's laughable. We've all read the laptop.

We know what Hunter Biden was doing. We know what kind of life he lived. James Comer didn't set him up with prostitutes. James Comer didn't tell him to video record his escapades with prostitutes and underage girls and put it on the Internet. Right. And store the videos on his laptop. James Comer didn't have anything to do with his shady business dealings with Ukrainian corporations and Chinese. He finally admitted he's in business with the Chinese.

He finally admitted it. I'm glad you caught that. Yes. I mean, he came right out and said, yeah, I had a business partnership going on with the Chinese. But my dad had nothing to do with it. His argument now is my father had no involvement with my corrupt business dealings including the chinese and that corrupt business guy in the china in china happened to be

a senior chinese intelligence official that's correct you know the equivalent to the chinese cia Chinese CIA. So the argument now is, see, he's no longer, they've stopped denying that the laptop story was Russian disinformation. So they took ownership of the laptop earlier this year. Okay, so it was my laptop, okay? They had denied it up until this year. Okay, so it was my laptop. They had denied it up until this year. Yes. Then the defense became you're invading my privacy. Yes, and they actually filed lawsuits.

Filed lawsuits, said people are invading my privacy. So now the defense is, yes, I'm involved in all these crooked dealings. Yes, I am corrupt, but my dad isn't. But my dad isn't corrupt. That's the argument. And when you really slice it, he said, my dad is not involved in my business dealings.

Maybe so. Your dad is involved in the profits maybe dad isn't really telling you because he said my father's not on the board of directors he's not yes oh yeah we get that because that would be obvious that way but does 10 of every deal go to your dad and does 50 of your personal income go to your dad? Because that's what your email said. So maybe your dad isn't actively every day telling you what to do. But you sure are telling your dad what you're doing. And you're getting the wink and the nod from dad. And when it's time for a phone call call you can get your dad on the phone see he doesn't

need his father on the phone to say to a corrupt foreign business leader or government official i want this done or i if you if you give my son x many millions of dollars i will do this for you in the u.s government he doesn't need his father to say that on the phone. Right. All he has to do is be in the presence of a foreign official, a corporate official or a government official. Pick up his phone, call his dad and say, Dad, how's the weather today? And dad says, Hunter, things are looking bright today, but they could be cloudy tomorrow. There could be bad weather tomorrow, but right now, weather's good.

Then you can officially say, I talked to my dad about the weather, which is what he said earlier this year. Yes, I called my dad. I talked to him about the weather. Doc, that was code for saying my dad is smart enough not to get recorded by the NSA involved in business deals. Correct. So we have coded language in the phone calls. What Hunter wanted Chinese and Ukrainian and other national leaders to know is I can call my dad any hour of the day and my dad will do things for me. That's the purpose of the phone calls. So he can say, my father wasn't involved in my business. No, but you made sure your father knew everything you were doing and you shared

the loot with your father. The Biden family has pocketed tens of millions of dollars from the Chinese. Tens of millions of dollars. We can trace these funds. We can show bank accounts that they went to the various Biden family members. So what was the Biden family business? What is it? They're not making widgets. They're not producing sandwiches. The only thing they have is influence.

That's the only thing they're peddling. They're peddling influence, and that's a crime. And ignoring a congressional subpoena is a crime, asked Steve Bannon. They arrested him. So do the House Republicans have the backbone to have Hunter Biden arrested this week? I seriously doubt it. I doubt it too. The Republicans are the biggest wimps I've ever seen in politics. I seriously doubt it. I doubt it too.

I'm just saying if you – But they testified in closed-door sessions just like it was being requested here of Hunter Biden. What did they do to Roger Stone?

Who was the Trump advisor? They charged him. Peter. Oh, my. I can't remember his last name. Oh, my goodness. Isn't that terrible? Yes.

I seriously doubt it. I just don't think the Republicans have the backbone and the stomach to fight. They avoid confrontation.

Well, Representative Comer did have a response to Hunter Biden's refusal. We have a bit of a soundbite for that as well. The president said that we expect him to come in and be deposed. This is a normal process in an investigation. This has been a serious, credible, transparent investigation from day one. We've published four bank memorandums. We've had countless press conferences. This is an investigation about public corruption at the highest level. We have accumulated mountains of evidence that's concerning to an overwhelming majority of Americans.

We have specific questions in there, and I think we're going to allow you in there to see the piles and piles of documents, of bank statements, of emails, of text messages that we've worked very hard on in this committee over the last eight or nine months. We expect to depose the president's son, and then we'll be more than happy to have a public hearing with him.

So, we'll just have to wait and see what the Republicans do. By the way, people who are subpoenaed do not have the right to tell the congressional group or the court how you're going to appear for deposition. You don't have the right to do that. This was a political ploy today. Hey, I'm here. I showed up. Look at the time. I'm here on time.
