Well, this is the day which the Lord hath made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Hello, everybody.
My name is Rick Wiles, and I want to tell you why I'm on television.
I'm on television to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. I believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ is coming back for his one holy universal and apostolic church, and I'm here
to encourage you to shine brightly, taste salty, and love everybody while we are still on this earth
in these physical bodies waiting on the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have not been outside lately
and looked around, I'll tell you something. The world has gone crazy. Insane madmen are running the world. Just look at what is normal in 2022.
Casual talk of nuclear war with Russia. Transvestite drag queens indoctrinating elementary
school children. Mass shootings in schools while police officers stand around for an hour listening to the gunshots. A feeble old president in the White House whose son's business partner is the former spy chief of Communist China.
COVID-19 vaccine software that are pharmaceutical operating systems injected into human bodies.
Men wearing dresses and makeup and demanding to be treated as women.
You don't think the world hasn't gone crazy? Tell me, what's your version of crazy? Draw me a picture
and send it to me. I'd like to see it. There's no logical explanation for many things that are
happening in the world. The decisions made by world leaders
and trends among cultural and social influencers
such as government leaders and agencies
and international corporations,
the news media, universities,
the entertainment media,
scientists and political activists.
People are saying, thinking, and doing things that are bizarre.
Things that were unthinkable a decade ago are now declared to be normal.
Well, there's always been wickedness in the world since the fall of Adam and Eve, but
never has there been wickedness at the level we are presently experiencing. Entire nations are
falling away and being deceived. What explains the sudden burst of raw evil in the world?
Well, I have a possible explanation and I would like you to consider it. I'm not dogmatic about it. I may be right. I may be wrong.
All I'm asking is that you and I have a conversation about it and that you
seriously consider the possibility that my theory is correct. Dr. Raymond Burkhardt is my co-host
this week. He and I will talk this week about Revelation 9, Revelation 20, Joel 1, and Joel 2.
We'll discuss the bottomless pit, the release of Satan from the abyss,
and the similarities between Joel's vision of invading soldiers
and John's vision of hybrid locust creatures from the abyss.
Much of what Doc and I will discuss this week can be found
in my book, Final Day, the 10 Characteristics of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Now, before I introduce Doc Burkhardt, I want to tell you about a dream I had when I was 24 years old. It was a dream about the end of the world. I know it came from
God because it startled me so much that it eventually led to my salvation. I was 24 years
old and a dope-smoking, tequila-drinking party boy. My parents were not Christians, but my grandparents were devout
saints who loved the Lord. I did not own a Bible. I had never read the Bible, but I knew that my
grandfather read the Holy Bible every day. I didn't understand why granddad read the same book
every day of his life. How many times can you read the same book and not get bored? I knew that there was
something in that book that made my granddad come back to it every day. Well, I did not go to church
at the time I had this dream. My grandfather used to take me to church when I was a child.
It was a old German Reformed church, and I stopped going to church with him when I was 15 years old.
And I remember the Sunday I quit going to church.
It was Sunday, April 7, 1968.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis on April 4.
And I was seated in a church pew with my granddad waiting for the church service to
begin. And there were some men seated in the pew in front of us, and they were talking about the
assassination of Dr. King. And one of the men said he was glad that Dr. King had been shot.
As a teenager, I was shocked to hear men who claimed to be Christians laughing about the murder of a
black Christian pastor. And as a 15-year-old, I made up my mind I would not go to that church
again. That decision sent me off in the wrong direction, the wrong road of life, and I drifted
away from the influence of my godly grandparents. I started smoking dope and drinking liquor and
running with boys doing things we should not have been doing. So be careful what you say
in the ears of children and teenagers. Your words may drive them away from the Lord.
Well, fast forward nine years. I was 24 years old and experienced and highly competent sinner at the time.
I wasn't an amateur sinner. I was a professional.
I knew how to sin and I was also married and the father of one child.
My wife, Susan, had come under the Holy Spirit's conviction months earlier and had started attending a local church.
And each Sunday morning, she asked me if I wanted to go to church with her.
My answer always was, no, I have a hangover.
I want to sleep in.
That routine went on for about six months until one Sunday morning in the winter of 1978.
I had a dream in the early hours of that Sunday
before sunrise. I dreamed that I was in a vast underground tunnel. It was not a cave. It was a
tunnel that had been made by somebody. There was a wide highway running through the tunnel.
Some form of lighting on both sides of the tunnel illuminated the wide road.
In that dream, I was standing off to one side hidden in the darkness.
And thousands of feet away, I saw hundreds of soldiers coming out of the darkness on
both sides of the tunnel highway. They poured onto the paved
lanes of the road that ran through the tunnel, and they were strapping on battle gear and getting
ready for military action somewhere. There was a commanding officer shouting to them. His back was facing me, and he did not notice me standing far behind him
watching the unusual activity. Eventually, my curiosity compelled me to approach the soldiers
to get a better look at what they were doing. As I walked toward the soldiers, the commanding
officer continued to bark orders to them, and he was
not aware that I was walking up behind him. The closer I got to the soldiers, I suddenly became
aware that they were not humans. They had bodies like humans, a head, torso, arms, legs, but their
faces were not human. They had long heads like horses.
Their faces were like a hybrid animal, part human, part lion, part locust, with a head like a horse.
A strange creature.
I remember momentarily freezing in my tracks when I got an up-close look at the locust soldiers. Finally, I tapped the
commanding officer on his shoulder, and I asked him a question, what is going on here? And he
whipped around, and he peered into my eyes. And to this very day, I still remember his animal-like face and piercing eyes.
He was so close to me.
It was like a scene from a science fiction movie.
He tilted his head and he stared into my eyes for a few seconds before speaking.
The look on his face said he was puzzled that anybody would ask such a stupid, ridiculous question.
Finally, the locust lion man said to me, have you never read the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ? The dream ended and I
woke up and I was shaking and sweating. It was still dark. I never went back to sleep. When the
sun came up that morning, my wife Susan woke up
and asked me the same question she had always asked. Do you want to go to church with me today?
That Sunday, I surprised her and I quickly said yes. Months later, June 11, 1978, my soul was
saved by Jesus Christ. And I was filled with the Holy Spirit that morning,
and I was baptized in a local creek that afternoon. I'm teaching today from chapter six
of my book, Final Day, the 10 characteristics of the second coming of Jesus Christ. You can follow
along with this TV Bible study lesson each day by reading the book to get a richer, deeper understanding of the glorious appearing of our blessed hope, Jesus Christ.
And I would be very honored if you read my book.
Now, I have a theory about why America and much of the world has just gone crazy in a very short period of time. It is
based on a different interpretation of Revelation 20 than what most of you are used to hearing on
Christian TV and radio shows. Now, I don't want to disparage what others are teaching. I simply have a different viewpoint.
And my viewpoint is actually a very traditional viewpoint.
It was the viewpoint that was taught in churches worldwide for about 1,500 years or so.
So it's not radically new.
It's radically old.
So let's read Revelation 20 verses 1 through 3.
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain
in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up
and set a seal upon him that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years
should be fulfilled. And after that, he must be loosed a little season. Now, Revelation,
that's Revelation 20. Now, I don't have enough time today to do an in-depth teaching on Revelation 20's mention of a thousand years.
I will only say this.
I reject the doctrines taught by John Nelson Darby and Cyrus Schofield, and I accept St. Augustine's teaching that the thousand years is a metaphor
for an unknown number of years between the first and second advents of Jesus Christ.
It is the church age, and during this church age, Christ is reigning and ruling through his
disciples, you and me, on earth. Our assignment is to extend the borders of the kingdom of heaven to every
corner of the earth. My explanation for the sudden burst of wickedness and insanity around the world,
especially in Western countries, and in particular the USA, countries that used to be Christian like America. My explanation is that Revelation is Revelation 20,
that Satan has been recently released from the bottomless pit.
And we are quickly approaching the end of the age of mankind.
Look, I'll save Revelation 20 for another day, another lesson.
Today, in fact, the rest of this week,
I want to teach on the bottomless pit
and the locusts that come out of the pit. And again, you can follow along with this TV Bible
study by reading my book, Final Day. My lessons today and tomorrow and the rest of this week
are from chapter six. His second coming shall be disruptive. Now I need to
bring Doc Burkhart into this discussion. He and I will devote the rest of this week to
talking about the abyss and the locust creatures in the abyss. So Doc, glad to have you. We're just going to be casual throughout this week.
I've basically just thrown away any kind of scripted program,
and I just want you and I to talk.
If it takes us a week, fine.
If it takes us two weeks, okay?
I've got to tell my audience, for those of you who are watching this,
this is a new program for me. I've been doing a daily program for 23 years called True News.
And True News is a one-hour news analysis program, but it's digital.
I haven't done broadcast with True News.
We have done it by streaming,
digital format.
So I was streaming in 1999.
So I was a pioneer in audio streaming.
The great thing about streaming is
you don't have any restrictions.
You don't have any rules.
You can just do what you want to do.
When you're on broadcast television,
there are rules. There's formats. There's structure. There are rules that you have to adhere to.
So we're limited to 28 minutes each day. And it's difficult for me. So I want our audience
to know I'm going to throw out a lot of the rules that I was told that I have to.
This is the wise thing.
This is the way you got to do things.
If you're going to be on Christian TV, if you're going to have a successful.
I'm just not going to do it.
I'm just going to be myself.
I'm just going to be myself, Doc.
I have to be myself within 28 minutes each day.
So if this takes two weeks for us to get it all out, then it takes two weeks. If we get it
done in three or four days, that's okay. I'm just going to do this program the way I have been doing
my ministry programs since 1999. I want our people to be blessed. My desire is to teach the Word.
So, Doc, you've heard, yeah, go ahead.
I want to ask you about your dream, the dream that really led up to your salvation.
At the time of your dream, did you have any kind of, you know, spiritual influence that would have prompted this kind of dream or anything in your life at the time?
Other than my grandparents were godly Christians.
They belonged to an old German Reformed church,
but I had my whole family.
You know, on both sides of my family were German Reformed.
But my parents were not Christians.
They didn't go to church.
I had no influence from my parents whatsoever.
Whatever I knew about God and religion
came from my grandparents' generation and their,
their, you know, friends and relatives. So, you know, I didn't, I didn't have, I hadn't been in
church since I was 15 years old. I walked out on that Sunday after Dr. King was killed because I
heard that remark, you was a horrible remark.
And it just turned me off of religion.
I remember saying, these people
obviously don't know Jesus.
I remember saying that as a 15-year-old.
These people obviously don't know Jesus.
What am I doing here?
So be careful what you say.
Be careful what you say because you might drive
a youth away from the
Lord. It may take a decade, two decades.
That youth may never come back because of something careless that you have said in the presence.
But this dream, Doc, I was living, like I said, a professional sinner.
I wasn't an amateur.
You had gone pro.
I went pro.
And so there was nothing godly about me at all
okay uh i i lived for i mean i worked every day you know but nights and weekends uh i parted i
was a party boy and so god really wasn't a factor in your life no but he started calling my name
i wasn't planning to do this.
We're just going to do it the way the Holy Spirit takes it, okay?
Forget the script.
Forget the plan, okay?
Let's just go with what the Holy Spirit's doing.
Doc, before this dream, he started calling my name.
What do you mean?
Well, you know what?
I can't say before.
You know, it's been a long time ago.
It's 1978.
Sometime around that dream, it could have been just before.
It could have been just after.
I don't recall.
Oh, no, it had to be before because it made me go to church.
The dream made me go to church.
So before, before I had the dream,
the Lord was calling my name.
And I would say on a Saturday night,
I'd have all my friends at my house
drinking, all of our drinking buddies,
smoking dope, having a big party,
and having a great time.
House was full of friends and the marijuana smoke
is filled the rooms and there's liquor and everything and I would hear my name
Rick just like that Rick and I knew that it came from outside.
So how'd you respond to that?
I would just excuse myself.
Everybody was so stoned and drunk they didn't even see me leaving.
I'd walk out of the house.
I'd walk outside, go out on my porch
and I would look up at the sky,
at the stars at night.
I knew it came from the sky.
I knew it.
And I would say, who are you? You just
called my name. Who are you? There was nothing. No answer. But I knew this voice came from
the sky. Every time it happened, I sobered up.
Immediately?
Immediately.
I would think a voice from the sky would probably sober up anyone.
It ruined the party every time.
And I would go in and tell my guys, friends, hey, party's over.
No, no, no, no, party's over.
I want to go to bed.
Party's over.
Get out.
Go home.
Okay? I just, I didn't want, instantly I did not want to party anymore.
And this went on.
I can't say every week.
I don't remember the frequency.
I just remember it happened many times.
And it would just rick.
Same thing.
Got to go outside.
Got to look.
So finally got to the point, Doc, I was getting, I was starting to get frustrated.
Okay.
It's like, okay, you say my name.
I walk outside.
I look up in the sky.
I say, what do you want?
Who are you?
And this one time I said, identify yourself.
I want to know your name.
You say my name, you know my name.
What's your name?
That's how I talked.
Doc, I actually, I remember thinking,
this is a space alien talking to me.
I was, I had no idea it was God.
I'm thinking, this is a space alien.
You were so far removed from God,
you didn't recognize his voice.
Some people are saying, well, you were stoned and drunk.
Yes, I was, but I sobered up every time it happened,
and I knew this voice was coming from the sky above.
And don't tell me that I was hallucinating.
I wasn't.
It made me not want to drink. It made me not want to drink.
It made me not want to smoke dope.
And it made me want to know this entity's name.
And this continued.
And then the dream came.
And then the dream came.
So when you had the dream,
was your first response trying to figure out
what the dream meant
or were you just overwhelmed by it that you had no context to even begin to understand?
I had no idea.
I had no idea.
I just know what I saw.
I can see it today.
If there was an artist here, Doc, I could describe in detail the tunnel, the road, the lighting, the creatures that came out of the darkness, the soldiers.
I could describe the face of the commanding officer who said, have you not read the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ?
I mean, it was like it's like he was this far from me.
And he had this long head.
It wasn't, it was a very long head, like a horse's head. And again, part human, part lion,
part lobe. It was like an unusual creature. Wasn't human. And his eyes were staring right at me. But I remember he tilted his head like he was.
Like, are you an idiot?
I think he was trying to size me up.
He gave me that look like he's trying to size me up.
Like, what are you?
And why are you asking me this question?
Why should you should know?
You should know.
That was the look.
That was the that was the message in his voice.
You should know what this is. Have you not read the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ?
I didn't even have a Bible. How could I read it?
The only person I knew with a Bible was my granddad.
And so somehow it got me that morning.
I went to church.
And, you know, after that, you know, I just started going to church every week.
And, hey, guess what?
Back then.
That's 1978.
Guess what preachers used to do in 1978?
Had altar calls?
They preached the gospel.
They preached the real gospel.
They told me about hell.
They told me about eternal life.
They told me about the cross.
I didn't hear any of this social justice stuff.
I wasn't hearing anything about how to become wealthy. I wasn't hearing about motivation and positive thinking. They told me sinners will go to hell and the righteous will
spend eternity with God. And I heard the gospel week after week, after week, after week. And then
finally in June, one day the word had gotten into me so much
that I got saved.
And I'll just tell you real quick.
I've only got two minutes here to tell you.
It's like,
so this is June 11, 1978.
I went to church.
The pastor said,
it was a big old theater.
And I'm sitting way in the back, 900 seat theater, old 1930s theater. And the pastor said, it was a big old theater, and I'm sitting way in the back,
900 seat theater, old 1930s
theater, and the pastor said,
we have a
gift for you today. It's a free gift.
This is a gift of the Holy Spirit.
And if you would
like this free gift, just stand
up and raise your hand.
Doc, I'm telling
you this, I did this. I stood up and raised your hand. Doc, I'm telling you this. I did this. I stood up and raised my hand.
I actually thought they were going to give me a box. Wow. I thought I'll take two. I'll take three,
one for the wife and one for the kid too. Okay. Honestly, folks, this is true. I honestly thought
they were going to give me some type of wrapped present.
And he said, it's a free gift.
If you just come down here to the altar, you can receive this free gift.
So I went marching down the altar.
That's right.
By faith, you were.
I did.
I did.
Long hair, scruffy jeans, you know.
Man, I was a mess.
I went marching down that aisle
going to get me a box.
It's a free gift.
I got down there and
bam!
I came under conviction.
I never knew I was a sinner.
I didn't know what sin was.
I felt conviction
and suddenly I knew it was unclean
I knew it was unclean
and it couldn't be in the presence of this
being that was there
and I remember the only words
I said was make me clean
make me clean
you've got to be clean
there's some of you
you're dirty in the eyes of God you've got to get clean. There's some of you, you're dirty.
In the eyes of God, you've got to get cleaned up.
He'll clean you.
He'll clean you up.
He'll clean me up.
He'll clean you up.
You've just got to say, God, make me clean.
You're not able to clean yourself.
If you could, you'd do it.
You're not able.
I wasn't able.
Just say to God, I'm dirty and I want to be clean.
Clean me up and save my soul.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit and write my name in the book of life.
He'll do it.
I promise.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Well, this is the day which the Lord hath made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Hello, everybody. I'm Rick Wiles, and I'm on television to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Jesus Christ is coming back for his one, holy, universal, and apostolic church.
And I'm here to help prepare you for the second advent of Jesus Christ
and the full manifestation of the kingdom
of God. My friends, presently, you and I are in the kingdom of heaven while living on this old
earth. There's a new earth and a new Jerusalem coming someday. In the meantime, we must shine brightly, taste salty, and love everybody in this present age. Now, if you
did not watch yesterday's episode, I encourage you to visit my website, rickwiles.com, and watch it.
I told the true story about a prophetic dream God gave me before I was saved. the dream came to me when I was 24 years old in the early morning hours of a Sunday in the winter of 1978.
The dream troubled me so much that I went to church that day.
Approximately five or six months later, I was saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized in water on June 11, 1978.
The dream was about locust soldiers that I saw in a vast underground tunnel.
The commander of the locust soldiers in the dream
asked me a question.
He said, have you never read
the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ?
Well, I wasn't even saved when I had that dream.
And I did not own a Bible. The only person in my life that I knew who read the Bible every day was
my grandfather. Well, you can watch it at rickwallis.com. Now for the next week, maybe the
next two weeks, Doc Burkhardt and I will talk about the abyss, also known as the bottomless pit.
We will talk about the key to the abyss and who is locked up in the abyss.
We will also discuss who owns the key and oversees the bottomless pit.
And we will talk about Old Testament prophet Joel's vision about locusts and an invading army, and we will compare it to St. John's vision
on the Isle of Patmos
when he saw locust creatures come out of the bottomless pit
just before the arrival of King Jesus.
Now, you don't want to miss this series of Bible studies
for the next week or so.
And you may disagree with our analysis and viewpoints, but that's okay. Let's be friends
and study the Holy Bible together. Let's help each other better understand the Word of God.
We're brothers and sisters. Now, if you want to contact me, you can email your thoughts,
opinions, insights, comments, and questions to talk to Rick at rickwiles.com. That's talk to
rick at rickwiles.com. Today, we will start with the first chapter of the book of Joel in the Old
Testament. Joel announced to the people of Judah that the day of the Lord would soon come upon them. And I want to ask Dr. Raymond Burkhardt to tell us what is the day of the Lord.
Hey, Doc.
Hey, Rick.
Doc, is there only one day of the Lord or are there many days of the Lord?
There have been many days of the Lord and there's going to be an ultimate day of the Lord.
But what is the day of the Lord?
It's any day that God avenges sin.
He's given warnings and then he fulfills the warnings to the people unless they repent.
And are there examples in the Bible?
Numerous examples in the Bible where the prophets Ezekiel, Jeremiah, others have talked about judgment perhaps on Israel.
Or taken into captivity. That was the day of the Lord.
And so many that you can lay out.
Even Jesus alluded to a day of the Lord for Jerusalem and for the temple that was going to be coming.
But that was not the ultimate day of the Lord.
There is an ultimate day of the Lord, the final judgment of all time.
And you talk about it in your book, Final Day.
And that's actually why.
That's how I came about with the title of this book, Final Day.
I was preaching a series of sermons about the day of the Lord.
Right.
And I was saying that there have been many days of the Lord.
Well, at the end of that series of sermons, the Holy Spirit spoke to me the following day on a Monday and said, the title
of the book that you're writing is Final Day.
Right.
And that's how this came about.
The final day of the Lord.
So there have been many day of the Lord visitations.
As Doc said, it's whenever God visits humanity.
It could be a community, a city, a nation.
Ultimately, it will be the entire world.
It's any time God visits to avenge sin.
Now, He never does it without warning.
And our Heavenly Father is merciful, and He sends warnings and warnings and warnings.
He pleads and begs and woos to get people to repent. And when they
just absolutely refuse to repent and double
down in their sin. Like America right now. America's doubling
down. I think we're tripling down, quadrupling down on our sin. America
is in God's face right now. Rebellious against God.
And there will be a day of the Lord for our nation as well.
That's right.
And it may come in the form of an invading army from China.
And the American people may be forced to their knees
because they wouldn't voluntarily go to their knees
and cry out to God.
So God may allow the Chinese to show up with bayonets
and force the American people to their
knees. We'll save that for another sermon, maybe the 4th of July. But there had been many day of
the Lord visitations. Jonah is an example. I said, well, wait a minute. The people repented
and judgment didn't fall. But what happened?y years later, they returned to their sin, and the day of the Lord arrived.
It was delayed.
Yes.
And in many ways, even our own nation today, it's delayed because the warnings have been given out.
And as you said, we'll talk about that some more.
But Joel, the prophet Joel in the Old Testament, had given warnings to the nation of Judah
and warned them, unless you repent,
the day of the Lord is coming. That's right. And the people of Judah did not believe God was going
to deal with their sin. And that's just like America right now. The American people have no
fear of God. They do not believe God will deal with America's sin. Oh, we're America. God's
not going to. He needs us. No, he doesn't. No, he doesn't. What he needs is our worship, our praise,
our obedience. That's what he needs. That's what he desires. He doesn't need our sin and our
rebellion and our pride. He has no place for it, no need for it. You know, what's he going to do
with our pride and rebellion? It reminds him of Lucifer and the rebellion in heaven.
So where we're at,
we're going to look at the first chapter of the book
of Joel. And let's read it right now. So this is from Joel
chapter 1. It says, the worm hath left hath the locust eaten, and that which the locust hath left hath the canker worm eaten, and that which
the canker worm hath left hath the caterpillar
eaten. Joel chapter 1 verses 1-4. So what we have here
we have a picture of Judah which is
the tribe that produced the Jews.
So Judah and Jews. So God speaking produced the Jews. So Judah and Jews.
So God's speaking to the Jews.
This is not to all the other Israelites.
The Jews were part of the Israelites, but this is to Judah.
And they had gone into deep sin and rebellion and wickedness.
Look, there are degrees.
We're all sinners, but we're not all wicked.
Everybody's a sinner, but not everybody's wicked, in my view.
How would you define the wickedness then, Rick?
It is a determined, premeditated decision to sin against God and to rebel against Him
and a hatred of God and a hatred of righteousness,
a hatred of the church, a hatred of the name of Jesus Christ. Those people are wicked.
They scheme and plot to do evil, wicked things. Sinners are just, hey, everybody's born into this
world as a sinner. We're all fallen, but not all of us are wicked. There's a degree that takes
place within a person's life where they say, I will be in rebellion against God. Yes. And we see
it right now in America. You have millions of people in this country who are in outright rebellion
against God. They hate God. They hate his son. They hate the church. They hate anything that's
good and righteous. They hate it. They despise it. And they want to bring it down. They hate the church. They hate anything that's good and righteous. They hate it.
They despise it. And they want to bring it down. That's wickedness. So Judah had become wicked.
They had departed from the Lord so much that they had become wicked in the eyes of the Lord.
And so he raises up the prophet Joel. And what Joel said here was he said he cried out to the elderly men of Judah.
Right. The granddad's, yes. Yeah, to the granddad's. He goes, hey
all you old men out there. And you just picture him in the town square
in the marketplace. You know, he gets a crowd. Hey, all you
old timers, I want to ask you a question. In all
your days, have you ever seen this happen in Judah?
Look around you.
There's not one tree with a leaf.
Right.
Your farms are gone.
Your orchards are gone.
The grass is gone.
Have you ever seen anything like this, you old men?
Because he wanted those old men to say, say no we've never seen anything like that and
what had happened is god had sent swarm of locusts throughout the land of judah and had stripped
everything yes there was nothing alive probably billions of locusts it's probably billions
with the sky turned dark the massive swarm that came in like we we saw last year in Africa and India and various countries where it was like, oh, my God.
Look, I saw videos of it.
It's unbelievable number of locusts that came in.
And so this was the situation of Judah.
The Jews had sinned so grossly.
Their hearts were so hardened against God that he said, I am going to send locusts in to strip everything bare.
They'll have nothing to eat.
And then he prompts Joel to ask the old men, old timers, you've been here for a long time.
You've seen the blessings of God on Judah.
Have you ever seen this?
This is a curse.
This is a curse of God.
Have you ever seen this? And the a curse. This is a curse of God. Have you ever seen this?
And the old men had to say, no, we had. The reason Joel was telling, prompting the old men
to answer that question is that he wanted the elderly Jews to tell the young Jews,
this has never happened in our lifetime. And it is because we have sinned against God. He wanted the youth
to know that this was a judgment of God on Judah and that they, when they grew up,
that they would not make the mistakes that their parents and grandparents had made.
You know, it seems to imply in that passage of scripture there, Rick, in the Lord telling the old men to tell your grandchildren, your great-grandchildren,
that they hadn't been told before,
that they hadn't been taught that before.
There you go.
Preach it, Doc.
And so...
The preachers weren't preaching.
That's right.
The old men weren't passing down their values,
what they had been taught.
They had been taught to live righteously, to live holy in the Holy Land, as we like
to say.
They had not been teaching their sons, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren.
Now, the prophet Joel, under the anointing of the Spirit of the Lord, has to tell them,
you need to teach this.
So the youth, the young Jews were scratching their heads going, what has happened here?
What is going on?
Why is the Lord mad at us?
And the old men knew why.
Yes.
They knew why.
And they had to come to terms with that, their disobedience to the Lord.
That's right.
The way that they lived, their failure to obey the Lord, to keep the covenant and to teach the youth the covenant.
Now, Rick, the prophet Joel actually isn't just talking to Judah here, is he?
No.
He's talking to another audience.
Yes, he's, I call these dual fulfillment prophecies.
They happen in the Old Testament in real time.
You know, physically they happen.
They were fulfilled.
But they give us a picture
of something else that's happening later it's going to be fulfilled again before christ comes
back it's a dual fulfillment prophecy so joel was telling the people of judah this you've got this
army of locusts that have come in and caterpillars and all these worms that came in. It wasn't just
one. Right. Locusts, canker worms, caterpillars. Can you imagine? Well, one didn't eat. The other
one did. Right. I mean, there were not any leftovers when they were done. And so Joel's
saying, you think this is bad? This is just the warmup act. You ain't seen nothing yet.
God's just getting started with you.
He just stripped your food supply.
America, what's happening to your food supply right now?
God's taken away your food supply, America.
He's trying to get your attention.
There's a day coming.
Americans are going to shake.
Their hands are going to shake
trying to get a tiny little piece of food up to their mouth. They're going to shake. Their hands are going to shake trying to get a tiny little
piece of food up to their mouth. They're going to be trembling because that's what happened to the
Jews. They trembled holding the last pieces of food to get it in their mouths. It's coming to
America if you don't repent, America. Preachers, you better get moving. You better get back on the job preaching righteousness,
telling people to repent and be baptized.
It's time to get back to the real gospel. This country is on fire.
It's on fire.
And the preachers and the Christians are sitting in the living room of a burning house watching TV.
And the house is on fire.
The rafters are falling down with flames.
And the people are watching television
and online on their phones,
and the country's on fire.
It's time some preachers yell, fire, fire.
The house is on fire.
The nation's on fire.
Well, anyhow, this is a situation
that was in Judah
at the time. And so Joe is, he's announcing to the people of Judah, this is just the beginning
of what God's going to do. This invasion of locusts, this is the warmup act because they
just ate your food. The ones that are coming are going to eat you. Right.
And who was coming?
An invading army.
A powerful nation was marching to Judah.
The people of Judah didn't even know it.
They were caught up in their sin, their religious pride, their arrogance.
They didn't know that miles and miles away, there were soldiers marching to Judah to conquer them, to kill them, to enslave them.
They were unaware because their pride prevented them from even considering the possibility that God would send an invading army.
Hey, we're Jews.
This is Judah.
We got the covenant.
Nothing's going to happen to us.
Oh, yes, it will. And America has got that same pride, that same arrogance. This is the United
States of America. Nobody can touch us. Oh, yes, they can. We're poking Russia. We're offending
Russia. We're aggravating Russia. We're pushing China around. Those two countries are going to get together and clobber us if we don't repent of our sins.
And it will be God Almighty that puts that idea in their head.
That's right.
Oh, what are you preaching?
I'm preaching Bible.
That's what I'm preaching.
You don't think that God put it in the invading army's head?
Yes, he did.
To invade Judah?
Yes, he did, Doc.
Yes.
He did. He sent Yes. He did.
He sent them.
He sent the locusts.
He sent the canker worm.
He sent the caterpillar, and he sent the invading army.
And then the part that doesn't make,
it's hard for me to understand,
is even when he sends an invading army
against his people, the chosen people,
then he deals with the invading army.
Right.
He deals with them.
But what did Nebuchadnezzar,
what did God call him?
My servant.
Yes.
And yet he had the judgment of God on him too.
Yes.
But God called him my servant.
Yes.
Why was he his servant?
Because he did what God told him to do.
Maybe not even realizing it.
Right.
That's right.
So what was on its way an invading army
and this is where we start to get into the comparison to what john saw on the island of
papmos when he saw locusts and he saw an invading army. He saw all this taking place in the last days.
So Joel wanted the people to understand that the destruction of their food was just the beginning of their problems.
This is just the warm up act, the time of sorrows for them.
The army of insects was a forerunner of another army that was coming.
An army of
men.
Warriors. Prepared
for battle with
armor and swords
and helmets and boots
and they were marching to Judah to
conquer them. And the
people of Judah didn't even know what was
going to happen. So what we want to
know is that it's God's sovereign right to avenge sin, especially people who are called by his name.
Right. The Jews like to brag they're the chosen people, but they don't like to live according to the covenant.
That's true.
Even to this day, they want that title, God's chosen people, but they don't want to keep the covenant.
It's still happening today.
They're still being chastised.
That's God's business.
That's not mine.
That's God's business.
Let him take care of it. But I know this.
We Gentiles who were grafted into
Israel. Spiritual Israel. Yes. We're brought into Israel
grafted in. We are to learn a lesson.
The book of Hebrews says we are to
the Hebrew people are an example to us.
Don't make their mistakes.
So we can't have this cocky Eric and attitude here in America.
Oh, we're the American Christians.
God's not going to bring any judgment here.
Oh, yes, he is.
Yes.
It's his mercy that we're already under judgment.
You know what the judgment is right now?
We're being ruled by idiots.
That's right.
That's the judgment of God on us right now.
Idiots are in power in this country.
We've been overwhelmed with corruption.
That is another sign of God's judgment.
He allows people to be corrupt in levels of leadership,
false weights and measures,
judges ruling against the moral law of God.
These are all earmarks
of the judgment of God on a nation.
Doc, I believe the Jews at that time
had become reprobates.
What is a reprobate?
Someone who has gone so far away from God and revels in sin.
I mean, let's face it.
Everyone sins and they need to repent of their sins.
But there are some people that revel in sin, that love their sin.
That's what a reprobate is.
And the Bible also says that God gives people over to their reprobate
mind. Yes. So there comes a time where God says, I give up, I'm done. And that's, here, you want
your reprobate lifestyle? You can have it. What do we have right now? We have men wearing dresses
and are in high government offices ruling over the church. Yes. And the Christian men in this country are so wimpy
because they don't know the Bible,
they don't know the responsibility,
and they're allowing men wearing dresses to rule over them.
And it's a daily lifestyle.
It's common.
This is the new normal.
Yes.
The new normal for our nation. And there's no offense
in the church. None. Nope. They're okay with it. They just adapt to it. Well, that's what the Jews
were doing back then. Yes. The worst the standards got, they just adapted. They just adjusted their
morality and they just assumed God would be okay with it. He'll wink at the sin. No, he's not
winking. So there comes a time where
God puts on the brakes and puts on the emergency brake and that's the day of the Lord. That's right.
So the aerial invasion of locusts was a symbolic warning that a ground invasion was coming.
The aerial invasion were just the insects.
That was a warning to the Jews.
There's something worse coming.
Right, it's like in modern warfare.
You send in aerial assault first to soften the targets.
And then you send in the ground forces to clean up what's left.
We've got about less than four minutes. I want to read Joel chapter one, verses five through seven.
Awake, you drunkards, and weep and howl, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine,
for it is cut off from your mouth. For a nation has come up upon my land, strong and without
number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion,
and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
He hath laid my vine waste and barked my fig tree.
He hath made it clean bare and cast it away.
The branches thereof are made white.
So he calls the people of Judah drunkards.
They're drunk on sin. Yes. They're drunk on sin.
Yes.
They're drunk on arrogance and pride and self-deceit.
They deceived themselves.
They made themselves believe God wouldn't judge their behavior and their attitude.
And later, Joel tells the priest, blow the trumpet, blow sound the trumpet.
The priest had become lazy.
They weren't doing their work.
If the priest had been doing their assignment, Judah never would have been in this mess.
That's right.
So who is the.
Oh, my.
I'm going to say it.
I'm going to get some hate mail now.
You want to know who is to blame for America's mess?
America's preachers.
America's preachers are to blame.
They have not preached the true gospel.
It's been decades.
It's been decades since the real gospel has been preached in this country. Some of you
are my age and older. You're like, yeah, Rick, that's right.
You know. You heard the real gospel years ago. What's
being passed on today as the gospel?
It ain't the gospel. It's man-made religious doctrine.
And when this country falls, and it has already fallen.
It has already fallen.
It's done.
It's over.
The old America that you and I knew, it's not coming back.
It's not.
But Jesus is coming back.
Jesus is coming back.
But that old America is not coming back.
The preachers are at fault. They did not preach the gospel
in this country for decades. They chased other
ideas and doctrines.
A lot of them got worked up
into promoting the state of Israel.
Others promoting positive thinking and motivation.
Politics.
Politics.
Oh, a lot of them got into politics.
Oh, we're going to change the country by voting in more conservatives.
Well, there's a whole big place in hell for conservatives.
You know, you can be a conservative center in hell for conservatives. You know you can be a conservative sinner in hell? Just because you
got a conservative political tag doesn't mean you're righteous.
There are going to be a lot of conservatives in hell.
Right now the conservative movement in this country, the Republican Party
is pro-homosexual, pro-transvestite,
pro-transgender. Don't give me that conservative stuff. They're going down the road to Babylon with the rest of the politicians and political
activists. We need some preachers to get out of politics and get into the pulpit and preach the true gospel. Pray down the Holy
Ghost into this country. People need to hear about hell. They need to hear about judgment.
They need to hear about repentance. They need to know that they have to be baptized.
My friend, we've got to have a real revival in this country or we're going to cease to exist as a country.
There's going to be an invasion of this country of real soldiers coming in from another country.
If the church does not wake up, that's it for today.
I'm running out of time.
You can come back here tomorrow and I'll give you another dose of this stuff.
I love you
very much. See you tomorrow. This is the day which the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in
it. Hello, everybody. I'm Rick Wiles. And the reason that I'm on television is to make ready
a people prepared for the Lord. Jesus Christ is coming back and he's coming back for his one holy universal
apostolic church. And I'm here to help prepare you for the second advent of Jesus Christ and
the full manifestation of the kingdom of God. You know, right now, you and I are living in the kingdom of heaven while we're presently alive on this old earth.
But there's a day coming that there's going to be a new earth in a new Jerusalem.
And in the meantime, however, you and I must shine brightly, taste salty and love everybody in this present age. Our themes this week are the day of the Lord,
the bottomless pit, the hybrid locust creatures in the abyss, Joel's prophecies, and John's vision.
If you missed previous episodes, you can watch them at rickwiles.com. The day of the Lord is coming to the world.
It will be the last visitation of God to fallen mankind. He's going to turn off the electricity
to the sun, the moon, and the stars. Angels will go to the edges of the universe and start rolling up the universe like a parchment scroll.
God will throw the universe into heaven's trash bin. Why? Because he will be finished with it.
He's going to do something new. Our Heavenly Father loves doing new things. He yearns to create a new universe, new heavens, a new earth, a new Jerusalem.
For whom? For the humans made in his image who love him and obey him.
For men and women of all races and nationalities who believe in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, and were baptized in water. Are you in the family of God?
If not, you can be right now. How can you be saved? Repent of your sins. Believe in the name
of Jesus Christ and be baptized in water. Jesus said, he who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will
be condemned. Baptism alone will not save you, but neither will belief alone save you. You must do
both, believe and be baptized. You know, I'm more Baptist than most Baptists. I believe you must
be baptized, just like Jesus said. So why does religious people want to argue with Jesus? Now,
if you were never born again, I'm inviting you to get serious with Almighty God. I want you to
confess your sins to God now and tell him that you believe
in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, to save your soul. And then I want you to find a Bible
believing church in your city or town, your neighborhood, a church that has a pastor who
practices old fashioned water baptism. I want you to go to that pastor and tell him you've got to be baptized now.
Get the job done.
Show God that you are serious
and you mean business
about him saving your soul.
And then email me at
forgiven at rickwiles.com
and tell me that you were saved
and baptized after watching
this TV program.
That'll put a big smile on my face.
Well, yesterday we only made it to the first seven verses of the first chapter of Joel.
And we're going to be talking throughout this week about the various topics I mentioned at the beginning.
The prophecies of Joel, the vision of John.
We're going to be talking about the abyss, also known as the bottomless pit.
We'll be talking about the hybrid locust creatures.
And, you know, I think today where I want to go is
I want to have a discussion about not just what is in the bottomless pit,
but I hope we'll be able to get, before the end of the show,
to the discussion about who owns the bottomless pit,
and who has the key,
and who is authorized to lock it and unlock it.
These are fascinating subjects.
Now, look, you may have a different opinion about this than I do,
and that's okay.
We're brothers and sisters, so let's just study the Bible together.
And, you know, if you have thoughts, you can write to me.
My email address is talktorick at rickwiles.com.
Talktorick at rickwiles.com.
You can send me messages and tell me what you think about this program,
and I would love to hear your ideas also.
Dr. Burkhart is here with me, Dr. Raymond Burkhart.
Yes, sir.
You're the smart one here.
Oh, really?
Yeah, you're the smart one here.
You are the one with really the knowledge because you've really with this, a lot of what we're talking about this week and maybe into next week is it comes from the book I wrote, Final Day, 10 Characteristics of the Second Coming, shall be disruptive. But I encourage you to read the book, Final Day,
and it will give you a fresh perspective
about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
And let me know what you think about the book.
You got my address.
Talk to Rick at rickwiles.com.
Well, yesterday we only made it to
about the first seven verses of the first chapter of Joel.
We were talking.
Joel's warning, especially to the old men of Judah, saying, look at this.
Look at this invasion of locusts that are happening right now.
And have you ever seen anything like this?
And he said, these locusts that have eaten your farms and the trees, they've eaten the
grass, this is just the beginning of your woes because what's coming is an army. You think these
locusts are bad? You wait until the army gets here. Where they swarm you like locusts. That's right.
So why was this happening? Why did it happen to Judah? Because they had turned against God
with all the blessings he had given them,
with all the goodness he had shown them.
They rebelled against him.
And over many, many years,
God sent prophets to Judah,
encouraging them to turn
and return to the old paths, to repent of their sins,
to be restored in their relationship with God.
And the more that he sent prophets to them, the more that they rejected
them. In fact, the Bible tells us
they killed the prophets. They persecuted the prophets.
And so they reached a point where God said,
there's nothing that I say that gets your attention. So I'm going to send locusts.
And after the locusts go through the land and wipe out your food supply, then I'm going to
send an invading army and they're going to kill most of you. And the rest of you, they're going
to take prisoner and they're going to make you slaves now someone look at reading uh the book of joel they may say well that happened to
judah that was a prophecy for them but uh this particular passage uh the first several chapters
the book of joel are actually what we would call a dual fulfillment prophecy and the reason why we
know that is because jesus actually quoted joel or made inference to Joel's prophecies throughout his teaching.
Peter quoted Joel right after the
ascension of Christ. So even though there was a
fulfillment of the prophecy in Joel's day against Judah, it gives us a
picture of the final day, the second advent of Jesus Christ.
That you think the supply chain issues are bad?
Wait till the invading army comes. And that's at the second advent on the final day
as you talk about in the book. So Doc, let's start.
If you have your Bible, you can read along with us. We're in the second
chapter of Joel today and we'll read verses 1-3.
A familiar verse for a lot of people. Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound'll read verses 1 through 3. As the morning spread upon the mountains, a great people and a strong. There have not ever been the like.
Neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame burneth.
The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness.
Yea, and nothing shall escape them. That's from Joel chapter 2, first three verses there.
So Joel told the priests, the religious leaders of Judah,
blow the trumpet, sound the alarm, wake up the people,
tell them that an invading army is coming.
See, the priests had become derelict in their duties.
They had not been preaching the truth to the people of Judah.
And the people of Judah had fallen into deep sin
and the priests were there with them.
So the whole country was in a state of rebellion against God.
And so the Lord is using Joel.
He's telling the priest, get back to your job.
Pick up that trumpet and sound the alarm.
Tell the people of the great danger.
What we need right now in America, we need every Bible-believing preacher in this country to blow the trumpet and sound the alarm to the American people and tell them great danger is coming.
America is in rebellion against God.
This will not go on much longer.
There's a calamity coming.
We must turn around. That's the message that needs to be
going out from every pulpit in America. Like I said yesterday, America's house is on fire.
And the Christian church is sitting in the living room watching television or looking at their phone
while the house is burning. They ought to their phone while the house is burning.
They ought to be shouting, the house is on fire. Of all people, of all people, it ought to be the Christians who are telling the unsaved in America, this country's on fire. It's going to be consumed.
It's going to disappear. You can't continue sinning like this.
Great calamity is going to come upon us.
But there's no sense of alarm in the church.
No sense of urgency.
The pastors, I'm not saying that.
But a lot of preachers in this country are complacent with America's sin and rebellion.
They just kind of wring their hands.
Nothing I can do about it.
Yes, you can.
You can preach the gospel.
Yes.
Which is what you're supposed to be doing.
And tell the people what happens to a country that falls into deep sin and rebellion against God.
God will send judgment on that country.
Just as he did upon Judah here. That's right. sin and rebellion against God, God will send judgment on that country.
Just as he did upon Judah here.
That's right. And in chapter two here, he equated the day of the Lord with the invading army, with that
judgment.
And so now there have been lots of days of the Lord.
We kind of touched on this yesterday, but there's an ultimate day of the Lord.
And so this is one of many days of the Lord that had occurred in the past.
But each one of those gives us
a little bit more of a glimpse,
like a curtain being pulled back
on what that final day of the Lord will look like.
That's right.
He said, for it is nigh at hand.
What is nigh at hand?
The day of the Lord.
Yes.
And it is a day of darkness and of gloominess,
a day of clouds
and of thick darkness
as the morning spread
upon the mountains.
A great people and a strong
there has not ever,
there has not been ever the like.
Neither shall be any more after it.
Joel saw this fierce army of soldiers marching towards Judah.
And he was frightened in his spirit. He knew that there was going to be slaughter and
nothing, nothing shall escape them. Nobody was going to get away from them.
Nobody in Judah was going to escape this invading
army. There's a day coming. And I'm talking about the final day of the Lord, which again,
the reason this book is called Final Day, it is the final day of the Lord. That's what this book
is about. There's a final day of the Lord coming, not just to America,
but to the entire world. And that army, that invading army that's coming are the reaper angels.
And they're going to go throughout the world. There may be tens of millions. There may be
hundreds of millions. There may be a billion angels. We don't know. We have no idea how many angels are coming with Christ.
They're going to spread out across the world, and they're going to hunt down the wicked and the unbelievers and the homosexuals and the child molesters and the sexual perverts and the swindlers and the liars and everybody that has, that has rebelled against
God, they're going to hunt them down. They're going to be bundled and taken off, taken away
to the lake of fire to be burned like weeds. That's what's coming. Yes, it will be. If you're
outside of Christ, if you're outside of the church,
if you've not been born again,
you've not been baptized,
the day of the Lord that is coming
will be a day of darkness and of gloominess.
It will be a day of clouds and thick darkness.
For the church, it will be a glorious day.
But for those outside the church, it will be a glorious day. But for those outside the church, it will be
a horrible day and he will never recover from it. And so Joel prophesied that the earth would shake
and quake. He said, the earth shall quake before them. In fact, we'll put the scripture up on the
screen. The earth shall quake before them. The heavens, we'll put the scripture up on the screen. The earth shall quake before them.
The heavens shall tremble.
The sun and the moon shall be dark.
And the stars shall withdraw their shining.
And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army.
For his camp is very great.
For he is strong that executeth his word.
For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible.
Who can abide it? This is Joel, Old Testament prophet Joel
speaking prophetically to the Jews and yet the prophecy that
he was speaking to the Jews was also a prophecy for the
day of the Lord at the end of the world. Right. Because
it matches the words spoken by Jesus Christ.
We'll look at Luke 21, verse 25.
And this is that scripture.
And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars and upon the earth,
distress of nations with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.
So Joel said, the earth shall quake, the heaven shall tremble, the sun and the moon shall be dark, the stars shall withdraw, they're shining. It's the same thing.
Yes.
Joel saw, he saw both the day of the Lord for Judah at that time, and that was fulfilled.
But then he also saw the final day of the Lord, which has yet to happen. And we, you and I,
we may be alive for it, but you know what? Whether we are alive on the earth the day of when the day of the lord happens and christ comes back
it doesn't matter if we're in the grave we're going to see it because we're all going to come
out of the grave that's right we're going to get a front row seat so it doesn't really matter if
you're physically standing on the earth when it happens or you're in the grave because if you're
in the grave you're coming out of the grave And you're going to see all this stuff happening.
The day of the Lord is going to come upon this world suddenly.
Unexpectedly.
Like Noah's flood.
And all the wicked were just washed away suddenly.
Those people in the time of Noah, they got up in the morning.
They were doing what they did every day.
Jesus said people buying and selling.
Getting married.
Getting married, yeah.
Eating and drinking.
It was just a normal day.
Just a normal day.
They got up that morning.
They had no idea they'd be dead by night.
Right.
They had no idea that the day of the Lord was coming on that day.
But there was one family that knew.
And that was Noah and his family.
And they were in the ark.
And Apostle Peter tells us that in our time, baptism is the ark.
That's Apostle Peter.
He said baptism is the ark. That's Apostle Peter. He said baptism is the ark.
That's right.
You need to be baptized.
You need to confess Christ and be baptized in water.
That's the ark for us today.
Nothing has changed.
It's just if you're going to be safe, you have to be in Christ.
And we'll talk another day about Noah's flood.
I want to get back to Joel.
Well, that day of the Lord for Joel was a disruptive day for Judah.
And that is the theme of the day of the Lord.
It disrupts the daily cycle, the life cycle of everyone that it touches.
And in the final day, in that final day of the Lord that's coming,
everything gets disrupted.
Weather, the earth, the heavens themselves,
everything is disrupted on that day.
The entire cosmos, the entire universe.
Look, when the angels arrive,
the first thing that they do is turn off the electricity.
Right.
Why would they do that? They're getting ready to implode the building.
If you own a large skyscraper and you're going to
implode it, bring it down in order to build a new building.
The last thing you do is cut off the electricity.
And then you bring it down. And why do you bring it down?
Because you're done with it and you're going to build something new.
Right.
There's coming a day God's done with this world.
Not only the world, He's done with the solar system and the whole universe.
Including heaven.
Yes.
Oh, that'll really mess them up, Doc.
So He makes a new heaven.
Yes.
He says so.
A new heaven.
A new earth.
He doesn't remodel it.
It's new. It's new. He's so. A new heaven, a new earth. He doesn't remodel it. It's new.
It's new.
He's done with it.
He tosses the whole universe into the trash bin.
He doesn't want to fix it up.
He's not going to paint it.
He's not going to refurbish it.
He's done with it.
It's old and he wants something new.
Our God loves to make things new.
He's a creator and he's still
creating. You know how he creates today? He creates through you and me. When you and I make things,
when we create things, when we produce something good, that's God working in us.
When I wrote a book, okay, that was God creating. When you wrote a song, that was God creating.
When you built a house, that's God creating.
When you painted a portrait, that's God creating.
This is how God creates.
He's got to release his creativity,
and he does it through you and me, through his church.
But there's coming a day,
he's going to make a brand new universe,
an entirely new universe. Look, he's not going to take this old world a brand new universe. An entirely new universe.
Look, he's not going to take this old world
and this old universe
and put it in the garage in heaven
and store it.
He's not going to take it to a yard sale.
No, he's going to have the biggest bonfire ever.
He's going to burn it up.
Peter said the elements will melt.
Think about that. Fervent heat. The elements themselves. Matter elements will melt. Think about that.
Fervent heat.
The elements themselves.
Matter itself will melt.
Yes.
And one of the elements is fire.
And so there's a fire from heaven coming
that's going to consume fire.
Now you tell me,
what kind of fire burns up fire?
Heaven's going to send a fire
that's going to burn up the fire
that's on the earth and in the universe.
The sun is fire.
It's going to burn up the sun.
It's just hard to comprehend, isn't it?
It is.
But Peter said the elements
shall burn with fervent heat.
They'll completely disappear.
That's the day of the Lord.
And then there's a brand new universe.
You and I can't even comprehend what the new universe looks like. There are going to be
shapes and sizes and colors and things that we can't even imagine it, but it's all inside
God's heart and mind right now. And we'll have to have new bodies, new eyes, new ears to touch and see and hear all the new things
that God is doing. Way beyond this current universe. Absolutely.
So we get back to Joel. And Joel told the Jews in Judah
hey these locusts that ate your gardens and your
farms and your olive trees and you know
flowers. They ate everything. They ate the grass. There was nothing
left. Billions of locusts came in and just devoured Judah. He said, these are harbingers.
They're messengers of something far worse that's on its way. And so what was on its way? Well,
what came are the locusts, right? but the locusts are the harbingers.
Right.
They weren't the real threat.
The bigger threat was coming.
And that takes us to the abyss.
So now what I want to do is switch over to Revelation chapter 9, verses 1 through 12.
Let's read that.
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth.
And to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
And he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke
of a great furnace.
And the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth, and unto them was given power,
as the scorpions of the earth have power.
And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth,
neither any green thing, neither any tree,
but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
And to them it was given that they should not kill them,
but that they should be tormented five months.
And their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man. And in those days shall
men seek death and shall not find it, and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle, and on their heads
were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as
the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
And they had breastplates, as it were, breastplates of iron. And the sound of their wings was as the
sound of chariots and many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions,
and there were stings in their tails, and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails, and their
power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the
bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name
Apollyon. One woe is past, and behold, there come two woes, more hereafter.
We're down to less than two minutes for today's program.
And we're just getting started in this discussion.
By the way, this ministry is completely financed by faith in God.
That's it. Our faith is in Almighty God that He will speak to His saints
who know that Jesus Christ is coming
and that a lot of people are unsaved.
We believe that God will speak to those saints
and inspire them to financially support this ministry.
So if you're feeling that nudge in your spirit,
I hope you will go to
rickwiles.com and click donate and support this ministry. We're going to be here every Monday
through Friday, teaching the word of God, making ready a people prepared for the coming of the
Lord. So what we have in these verses, and we're going to have to pick this up tomorrow is that a star a star fell from
heaven and to him was given the key to the bottomless pit and he opened the bottomless pit
and there arose smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by reason
of the smoke of the pit. And out of that pit came locusts. Locusts like, not insects,
but locusts like creatures. They came up and shrouded in the smoke. The smoke hid them.
I think possibly these are volcanic eruptions and these creatures will come
up from the center of the earth through the smoke that's
rising through the volcanic tunnels to the
surface of the earth. And then these creatures are going to make themselves
present on earth. We're going to pick this discussion up tomorrow.
I hope you find this fascinating. I hope you find this
fascinating. I hope you tell your friends to watch Rick Wiles today. Doc Burkhart and I will be back
here tomorrow, and we are excited about the second coming of Jesus Christ.
