soldiers along with mobile rocket launchers to a desolate island in the Aleutian
chain of western Alaska amid a recent increase in Russian military planes and vessels approaching
American territory. The CBS News report said that eight Russian military planes and four Navy
vessels, including two submarines, have come close to Alaska in the past week as Russia and China
conducted joint military drills.
None of the planes breached U.S. airspace, and a Pentagon spokesperson said Tuesday there was no cause for alarm.
I'm Doc Burkhart. This is True News for Friday, September 20, 2024.
We'll begin our analysis and commentary with this CBS News report about military activity in the Arctic region involving the U.S., Russia, and China.
You see the headline from CBS News. It's actually two days old. We have this report from CBS News.
How to new military tensions between the U.S., China, and Russia with the U.S. Navy sending
destroyers to the coast of Alaska last week after nearly a dozen Russian and Chinese warships were spotted
patrolling nearby international waters. Very nearby. Weijia Zhang is at the White House for
us with more on what all this means. Weijia, good morning. Good morning to you, Tony. Good
morning to everybody. Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan called the size of the Chinese and Russian joint
operation unprecedented. He says the U.S. deployed four Navy destroyer ships near the
Aleutian Islands in response to those 11 Chinese and Russian warships near U.S. waters. The U.S.
Northern Command says the Chinese and Russian patrol remained in international waters and
wasn't considered a threat. But the show of force is a reminder of the cooperation
of Chinese and Russian militaries,
as well as how close the countries are to Alaska.
A similar joint exercise took place last year in September.
The U.S. Coast Guard encountered seven Chinese
and Russian ships near Alaska, all in a single formation.
Now, China and Russia have increased their ties amid tensions with the U.S.
over Taiwan and Ukraine, making situations like this more alarming.
In a statement to other media outlets, the Chinese embassy said this patrol was part
of an annual cooperation plan and has nothing to do with the current international and regional
situations.
Nate.
Doc, quite troubling.
Yes. We should definitely be on the watch for this development on this particular story.
CNN is also reporting that the U.S. Army has deployed Arctic Angels to a remote part of Alaska in response to these Russian and Chinese ships
and their presence in and around Alaska.
So, Rick, where are we headed here?
Well, World War III, we're in World War III.
These are movements of troops and naval vessels.
We're moving towards a very hot conflict between Russia, China, and the United States and NATO nations.
It's our position here that World War III started two years ago, two and a half years ago, February 24, 2022.
We're deep into World War III, and few people are aware of it.
This is very troubling.
The U.S. deploying, and this is what CNN is saying,
U.S. Army soldiers were deployed to a remote island southeast of Alaska
as part of a force protection operation
amid an expected increase in Russian and Chinese military exercises in the region.
The NORAD, North American Aerospace Defense Command,
intercepted Russian military aircraft flying near Alaska four times over the last week
as Russia conducted military exercises.
So the U.S. Army, this again is a CNN report, the U.S. Army sent elements of the 11th Airborne
Division to Shama Island in Alaska on September 12th in response to the drills as a show of,
listen to this, ready lethal force.
Yes.
According to the U.S. Army.
The U.S. Army, in their statement, said that they deployed U.S. soldiers to Alaska
as a show of ready lethal force, meaning they're ready to kill.
They're ready to fight.
The division is known as the Arctic Angels.
And the statement from, this is from Major General Joseph Hilbert,
commanding general of the 11th Airborne Division.
He said, quote,
As the number of adversarial exercises increase around Alaska and throughout the region,
including June's joint Russian-Chinese bomber patrol, number of adversarial exercises increase around Alaska and throughout the region, including
June's joint Russian-Chinese bomber patrol.
The operation to Shama Island demonstrates the division's ability to respond to events
in the Indo-Pacific or across the globe with a ready lethal force within hours.
Now, Sergei Lavrov responded today.
This is Reuters news.
Lavrov vows Russia to defend its Arctic interests.
Russian, according to Reuters, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov vowed in an interview
published on Friday that Moscow would defend its interests in the Arctic, both in diplomatic
and military terms.
Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying in a series of documentaries
that Russia was resolved to counter a drive by the United States and NATO
to stage an increasing number of military exercises in the Arctic.
This is a quote from Lavrov today.
Quote, we see how NATO is intensifying exercises in connection with possible crises in the Arctic.
Our country is fully ready to defend its interests in military, political, and military technical
terms.
And Reuters said Lavrov made the comments against the background of new Pentagon strategy
on the Arctic,
outlining what Washington described
as intensified Russian activity around the Arctic.
So no pun intended, but the Arctic is heating up.
Yes.
It has been.
We've been observing it for a number of years here on True News.
And you've seen that Russia has made its presence known in the Arctic now increasingly over the past, especially over the past five years now.
I just want to remind people, World War III is on.
It could start in the Middle East.
It could start in Ukraine.
It could start in the Arctic.
There are so many flashpoints, Doc.
They're all over the world right now.
The world is like it's boiling.
Yes.
South China Sea, Taiwan.
It just seems like, and I've used this analogy in the past. Like if you have a stove with four boiling pots and there are lids on them.
And the ingredients in the pots are boiling it and the pots are bouncing up.
I mean, the lids are bouncing up and down.
They're rattling on the pots. But there's like God's hand is over all four pots
and won't let the lids blow off.
They're red hot.
They're not cooling down.
They're just not blowing up.
And that's the way I see God's hand is over these things
because if he withdraws his hand, there's going to be a massive amount of
death yes and destruction and satan will take an unimaginable number of people into death
and many of them will not be saved and they will never be able to be saved uh While I'm thinking about it, American Reserves, we extended the promotion deadline
to Monday because so many of you responded. And so we're extending this to Monday at midnight
this coming Monday. So you have today and the weekend and Monday to place your orders. Buy any bucket of specialty food.
So that can be the freeze-dried vegetables, fruits, meat, beef, chicken.
Rice, yes.
And get a second bucket free.
It does not have to be the same bucket.
You'll just get a second bucket free.
Buy one and get one free.
So it will be deducted at the checkout when you leave to pay.
So it is in effect until Monday night at midnight.
So take advantage of it.
There will be a day that we're not able to sell food anymore.
It's just that day will come.
And, you know, Doc, I've said this, and you know this.
My entertainment, my escape from reality is to go back in time.
I don't like present time, so I just go back in time.
Old books, old TV shows, old radio shows. I check out.
When I'm done, at the end of the day. I don't want to see any more television.
I don't want to read any more news.
I want to get out and go somewhere in my mind where things were calmer, you know, and it was a different world.
And so I'm either reading old books or I'm listening to old radio shows or something or old music.
And but, you know, I've been for the past year, I've been listening to radio shows from World
War II.
And to hear the, and these are comedy shows, but to hear the host of these shows giving
their, what we would call a PSA, public service announcement, on behalf of the U.S. government
during the war.S. government during the war.
Right.
Of telling people, you know, please keep your victory gardens growing.
Right.
Buy bonds.
Buy war bonds.
I heard one recently, Doc, where the host said, please, you know, don't idle the engine of your car.
Turn the motor off and save gasoline.
Our troops need the gasoline.
Our tanks need the gasoline in Europe.
They even said, get underneath your car and look and see if the gas hose is leaking.
We can save a lot of gasoline to send to the troops in Europe.
And you hear these announcements on these radio shows, and then you realize what it was like
during World War II, the sacrifices that the American people were making here
on the homeland to keep the war going in Europe and Asia.
And, you know, I think we're going into that period.
Folks, there will be a day that emergency food supplies will not be available.
It just will not happen. What did the acting director of the Secret Service say this week? The possibility of a geopolitical event with kinetic something.
Like, what are you talking about
that would require the deployment of more agents to protect federal officials?
What are they expecting?
What are they preparing for?
Well, we see the Pentagon is rushing troops to the North Pole.
And I don't hear anybody talking about it.
No.
We're setting everything up for the shooting war of World War III.
We're already in World War III, but the shooting hasn't really –
the big-time shooting hasn't really started yet. Doc, while we're on World War III, we're already in World War III, but the shooting hasn't really, the big-time shooting hasn't really started yet. Well, Doc, while we're on World War III,
we'll talk about Europe. And right now, this past week, Europe has been hit by some massive floods.
Here's a BBC, a Polish city urged to evacuate as floods batter Central Europe. I've got some video just showing you uh the amount of 40 minutes this is poland
it's uh this is all over uh europe uh particularly eastern eastern europe right uh massive
damage uh to cities so saying it's the worst disaster in a hundred years now that that says
a lot yeah so it's a it's a hundred year flood just a cycle
it's a hundred year flood and uh so a lot of people in europe are are suffering loss right now
we're concerned about them uh the president of of uh poland however Tusk, remember he was a prime minister, not the president, prime minister.
He was a European wonk.
And they brought him in and installed him as the prime minister to get Poland back in line.
Yes.
Go with the plan.
We got a program to follow here, folks. So Mr. Tusk joked that citizens of his country,
the Poles, shouldn't panic if they see German soldiers
helping out after the floods.
But why does he have to say that?
Because Germany invaded Poland.
Yes.
Killed a whole bunch of people in Poland.
1939, German troops invaded Poland.
So now the prime minister is saying,
relax, calm down. If you see German troops marching Poland. So now the prime minister is saying, relax, calm down.
If you see German troops marching in Poland, if you see German military vehicles, don't panic.
It's not World War III.
Don't remember what your grandparents told you about the Germans in our country.
Just relax, okay?
He said, if you see German soldiers, please do not panic.
They are here to help.
Doc, you know that line.
Yes.
Trust us.
We're the government.
We're here to help.
New York Post reporting that Republican Senator Joni Ernst is demanding data on possible Chinese-Russian infiltration of U.S. laboratories.
Wow, the news just got to her.
I mean,
this has been out there for years.
I mean, we already know there's fake Chinese labs. Well, they're real labs,
but there's already Chinese labs
in the U.S. Not only that, but
the Chinese scientists are inside
American labs.
We invited them. We invite them in.
We put them on payroll.
So Republican Senator Joni Ernst is sounding the alarm on foreign adversaries, including China and Russia, infiltrating U.S. laboratories.
After a recent congressional report revealed that thousands of foreign citizens were granted access to the research facilities last year.
Thousands.
Not two or three, Doc.
Thousands.
Thousands.
Why?
Because the president of the United States is bought and paid for by China.
Yes.
It's just that simple.
She said, quote, national laboratories are prime targets for espionage and theft by foreign adversaries.
And she made this, excuse me, inilling our research using visiting students and scholars.
Yes, and Ernst has demanded data from the Department of Energy about the access that Chinese, Russian, and Iranian nationals have garnered to the Department's 17 national laboratories over recent years.
She cited a report from the Senate Intelligence Committee. Listen to these numbers, folks, that revealed approximately 40,000 citizens,
40,000 citizens of foreign countries, including more than 8,000 citizens from China and Russia,
were granted access to the premises, information, or technology of the labs just in the fiscal year of 2023.
How can you be shocked by that?
40,000.
It's gone.
It's gone.
The country's gone.
Everybody talks about trying to save America.
Take back our country.
Take it back from whom?
The foreigners that you allowed to come in and take the country?
Right.
You think they're going to give it back?
No, you're going into subjection.
You're going to give it back no you're going into subjection you're going into slavery and they're taking the information that they pick up and they're bringing it back to
russia and china i got a quick one here before we take a break uh ex-border patrol chief uh
said that uh this is uh aaron uh height key yes uh he said he was ordered by the biden
administration not to tell the American
people how many terrorists had come across the border. Let's watch his testimony.
We had an exponential increase in significant interest aliens. These are aliens with significant
ties to terrorism. Prior to this administration, the San Diego sector averaged 10 to 15 SIA arrests per year.
Once word was out the border was far easier to cross.
San Diego went to over 100 SIAs in 2022, well over that in 2023, and even more than that registered this year.
These are only the ones we caught.
At the time, I was told I could not release any information on this increase in SIAs or mention any of the arrests.
The administration was trying to convince the public there was no threat at the border.
Of course, there's no threat.
Yes.
There's just an invasion, and you're not allowed to talk about it.
If you want to keep your job, you can't tell the American people the truth.
It's beyond comprehension.
For decades, you and I, all us we've we've known about it we've warned about it but doc it's like the dam has broke right in the past four years
the dam is broken it's gone it's just in everything it's not it's just the illegal
immigrants coming in the the Chinese spies.
In everything.
The dam has broken.
And it's a flood now.
And the only, only solution this country has is to cry out to Jesus Christ and cry out for mercy and ask God to spare us and save us.
And I'm going to hold out hope as long as I've got breath, as long as I'm here and I'm able to talk, then, hey, the game is still on. That means there can be a turnaround if the people
will cry out to God and humble themselves and confess their sins and turn from their wicked
ways. Then, and that's just talking about God's people. They're not even talking about
the sinners. That's talking about God's people. God's people need to humble themselves and turn
from their wicked ways. And then God will hear from heaven and heal the land. It's a promise
from the Lord. Several days ago, I had a conversation with Coach Dobbenmauer, Dave Dobbenmauer. I haven't talked to him in years.
It's been a long time.
Yes.
I started interviewing him way, way, way back around the year 2000.
And he's a good man.
And I sat down with him a couple days ago, recorded an interview.
That's coming up after this break.
And I want to remind you that American Reserves has extended the offer.
Buy one, get one free. This offer will continue. This promotion continues until Monday. It was
supposed to end a couple of days ago. We've extended it to Monday night. You have an opportunity
to get food, emergency food at an incredible price. American Reserves is only
offering this buy one, get one free one time per year. So this is it. It will not be back until
2025, one year from now. So this is your opportunity to get super savings. Coach Dave
Dobbenmauer coming up very soon after this break.
Appreciate it.
I'm going on vacation.
Doc's in charge next week.
I'll see you a week from now.

American owned, American made, American Reserves.
Well, welcome back to True News. I first talked to today's guest a long time ago. I don't remember the exact date.
It could have been late 1999, early 2000.
I just remember I read a newspaper article about an Ohio high school football coach
who was sued by the ACLU for praying with his high school football team before and after games.
And so I called, and we did interviews.
I lost track of how many interviews we did over the years.
He battled the ACLU in court for about two years,
and he finally obtained an out-of-court settlement.
And after the conclusion of the legal proceedings,
Coach Dave Daubenmaier heard the call from heaven to leave football coaching
and transition into coaching the saints of God. And from that call, from the Holy Spirit,
past assault ministry was born. Now, Coach Dave is the host of the weekday talk show,
Coach Dave Live, and you can access his program at coachdavelive.com. His friends know him as
Coach Dave. And he's here with me today, Coach Dave Dobbenmauer. Hey, Coach.
That seems like a lifetime ago. It has been. I've been great. And like I said, it's been like a
lifetime ago, Rick. And you know, I was noticing yesterday when 9-1-1 that if you were 24 years old, you don't even remember 9-1-1.
That's how fast life is moving, isn't it?
It's hard to believe.
Yeah.
So when I tell people I was sued back in 1997, it would have been like me when I was in high school talking about the Great Depression.
So the average person that we're talking to today really has no understanding of what it is that we're dealing with.
They don't.
So I appreciate you having me on.
We've been pumping hard here at Coach Dave Live Past Assault Ministries.
And we believe in expanding the gospel of the kingdom of God no matter what it looks like around us.
That's right.
Coach, I think I was one of the first radio talk show hosts to interview you
when you were having your legal problems.
Yes, sir.
And again, it's been a long, long time ago.
Yes, sir.
1997.
That's when it started?
1997, yeah.
That's a while ago.
Well, this program didn't start until 99,
so I must have interviewed you at the end as you
yeah we're wrapping up your um settlement and you had to leave coaching and um but anyhow i you know
i chose to leave coaching i know you chose to leave you chose to leave and um you were a guest
here on on this program for a number of of times over the years. It's been at least a decade since I've talked to you.
I can't believe it, a decade.
It's like, you know, you're busy, I'm busy,
and we don't realize that 10 years have passed.
But at least we've been busy in the fields,
in the harvest fields, working for the Lord.
So let's talk about reality, 2024.
It's really strange.
What's going on right now in this country, in the United States of America,
if you and I would never have believed 20 some years ago in our first conversations,
this stuff would be going on today.
It's just, we could not believe that the church would tolerate it, that the American patriots
would tolerate it.
We tried to warn them, right?
I tell everybody when I started to pass the salt ministries, my final year of teaching
and coaching was 1999.
And I thought if I can just, if I can just get out of here and go tell the pastors what's going on and wake them up, man, we'll be able to push back and fight against this stuff.
And that was one of the greatest disappointments of my life, Rick, to find out they didn't really care.
To be honest with you, they didn't really care.
That was mine.
When I started Past Assault Ministries, that really was the most shocking thing.
I thought they were just misinformed. I found out they didn't really want to know. A lot of it eschatological, right?
End times, it's only going to get worse. What can we do? God's in control. All of that baloney that
they say over and over. And I'm an old football coach. I don't care what it looks like getting
the huddle. Somebody call play. Let's go do something. That's right. And until the buzzer rings, the game's still on.
And that's my attitude.
Occupy till I come.
Right?
Occupy till I come.
And you know that word, that instruction from Jesus means engage in business.
Engage in business until I come.
Amen.
So, you know, the King James translated it as occupy, but it actually means engage in business until i come um so he's you know the king james translated as occupy but it
actually means engage in business in other words be in actively engaged in the business of the
kingdom uh so you encountered the same thing i did i i i went into this uh you know, 1999, 2000, 2001 on radio and shortwave.
And then we were streaming in 99.
And I thought the same thing.
If I can get the pastors to understand the scope of the danger that we're in,
they will rally the church and we will turn this country around.
And I ran into the same wall of apathy and indifference.
And, you know, I had people over the years would say, well, why don't you get some pastors on your show?
I tried.
I gave up.
I gave up trying to get past.
They won't come on because they're afraid.
A lot of them are just cowards.
When you tell them, I'm sorry.
No, when you tell them what you say, Hey,
I want you to talk about such and such topic.
They just back out.
Oh, I don't want to do it.
Okay.
Well,
you've backed out so much that you've turned the country over to the
pagans.
And so here we are now, Dave, the country over to the pagans.
So here we are now, Dave, the country is paganized.
The church is paganized.
That's where we're at right now.
And so where we're at, I think for you and me and others like mine,
what's left is to disciple the saints who are still in the game.
Amen.
That's it right now.
Isaiah 56.10 says, Israel's watchmen are blind.
They're all dumb dogs, loving to slumber, lying down, afraid to bark. When I first got that scripture back in just probably about 2001, that first thing hit me,
and I began to look around and realize they are they are afraid to bark what the heck is going on when this war as far as I know the
bible says occupy till I come go into all the world teach them to observe all I've commanded
you lo I'm with you always even into the end of the age what is going on and Rick I don't know
uh I remember um my mind's going a thousand miles an hour the old football coach at Ohio even at the end of the age, what is going on? And Rick, I don't know.
I remember my mind's going a thousand miles an hour.
The old football coach at Ohio State, John Cooper,
said something when I was a young coach that I never forgot.
He was talking about the aggressiveness of a football player.
He said this, if they don't bite as puppies, they don't bite as dogs.
It's your nature. And I think, Rick, our pulpits are filled with men who didn't bite as a puppy, and they ain't going to bite as a dog.
That's where we're at. They lack the courage. And it also means they lack the commitment to the kingdom. Because the more I study the words of Jesus, the more I
realize the strict requirements he puts on disciples. His membership, his requirements to
be his disciple are really strict. And those rules are not taught in the pulpits. And I think many of the churches are
filled with people who were not saved. They've never been told the requirements of being a
disciple for Christ. Rick, I'm not proud of this. I got taken to the woodshed one day after a Bible study
back in about 2001. We're at a men's meeting. Pastor was there. He's talking about all the
attributes of Jesus and yada, yada. Rick, I wasn't trying to make trouble. I just raised his hand.
My hand said, Pastor, we all understand why the qualities of Jesus and being Christ-like and all that. But I said, Jesus said, of all those ever born unto a woman, none was greater than John the Baptist.
Aren't we supposed to emulate John the Baptist a little bit?
Rick, I was in the woodshed 20 minutes later, right?
Because we understand what John the Baptist did, right?
What made him so great?
He spoke truth to power. That's what we're supposed to do. The Lord put the Holy Spirit
inside of us that we are to be what? Salt of the earth, not sugar, not molasses, not honeycomb.
We are required to say those things that nobody wants to say. And Jesus said, if you do that, you're going to be hated of all men.
And it's just the exact opposite of much of the gospel that we see going on with Joel Osteen and all those guys out there with that prosperity message and love everybody message.
Rick, we're in the middle of a war and we don't have anybody blowing the trumpet.
The Bible says if the trumpet blast is uncertain, who will go to war?
So that's what I try to do every day, blow the trumpet.
As far as America is concerned, I don't think we're in the middle of the war anymore.
I think the war is over.
We're occupied.
We are.
We're occupied.
We've been taken over.
The American people have surrendered their minds to occupiers and they're
unwilling to resist.
And,
um,
they're living in slavery and they don't understand it.
You know,
John the Baptist,
what got him in trouble?
He called out this,
the King's sin,
his sexual sin.
He did.
He called out the sexual sin of the king, of Herod.
And that got him executed.
Several years ago, I made a number of trips to Jordan.
And I got to tell you, the baptism site is just awesome.
The authentic baptism site, not the one that all the American tourists go to.
It's the authentic one on the Jordan side.
But the second place that moved my spirit was Makaras, which is this massive rock, this mountain out in the wilderness.
And on top of it was Herod's palace.
And this is where the party was held. This is where John the Baptist was beheaded.
And to be there and to see the remains of Herod's palace and to see, looking down inside the structures and seeing what could be cells,
could be holding places. There's also a cave there at the bottom of the mountain. The locals,
the locals said John was held in that, in one particular cave. But coach, I got to tell you, my first time there, I was so moved.
I was almost speechless.
There was something so reverent about the place that I realized I am standing on the mountaintop where John the Baptist confronted Herod and where he lost his head. And then I look around today and I think,
who in the American church would do the same thing as John the Baptist?
They won't call out the sexual perversion in America.
They're afraid.
They're terrified to do it.
They're afraid the local
newspaper will write a news article about them. They're afraid the local TV station will come out
and do a report about a hate speech bigoted church. They're terrified. They're afraid
they'll lose their tax exempt status. Well, John lost his head. And these guys are afraid
they're going to lose their reputation.
You know what, Rick?
When they did throw John the Baptist in prison,
and by the way, Jesus didn't even go visit him, right?
He didn't even go visit him. And John's
in prison, and he's saying, I can't believe
it. I did all this work for him. He doesn't
even show up. And so
Jesus sends a messenger, right?
He says, you go tell him that the lame walk,
the blind see. He did his job. Keep going, baby. We got more to do than this. Because why?
Greater love has no man than this, including Rick Wiles and Coach Dave Dobbenmeier,
then we would lay down our lives for our friends. That was the model that Jesus Christ himself,
he provided for us, Rick.
You die to yourself.
You lay down your life for your friends.
And so you look around.
By the way, we're really, really active at Coach Dave Live.
One of the things that we do, Rick, is we're raising up these pockets of men in local communities that are standing up and speaking up at school board meetings, at city council meetings, at county commissioner meetings
that are finally beginning to push back against the forces of darkness, which we believe that is
what the church has been called to do. And we look around at everything that's going on, teaching
transgenderism, to cutting off the appendages of little children, all of it, Rick, being done with approval of the local pastors and with the tax dollars of Christians.
They pay more in tax dollars than they do tithes to their church, Rick.
And so if we don't stand up and push back against this darkness as what?
Followers of Jesus Christ.
We expect the Republicans to do it?
Really?
Lindsey Graham?
Come on, man. So we're the salt
of the earth, right? We're the light of the world. We got to stand up and push back now. And I'm with
you, Rick, in that things really, really look bad. But I believe this, that we think in a linear
fashion, right? 1950, 1960, 1970. I think God thinks in cycles, sun up, sun down, right? Winter,
spring, summer, fall. I believe, Rick, that we are at the end of a very, very dark cycle. You and I
are about the same age, man. We go back to the Beatles, tune in, turn out, Jimi Hendrix, make
love, not war. That was the elevation of a very, very, very dark period
in America, in the world, really. And Rick, I think the sun's coming up. But listen,
it's not going to be a pleasurable sun coming up, because the sun's going to expose everything that
is around us. And now we are in the process of what? Man, we got to try to rebuild and pluck down and pull out and do all of that.
See, I don't argue over theology, Rick.
I don't care if somebody believes in a rapture.
It doesn't matter to me.
I say, listen, I've got today and tomorrow, whatever day, and I'm going to work while the sun's shining,
and I'll be daggone as an old football coach.
Can I play a football game while watching the scoreboard?
And that's what's going on with so many Christians. We're watching the scoreboard. We think the game's about over
when there's a lot of work still to be done. Amen. It's a very, very good point.
So you mentioned cycles, and I definitely believe that there are natural cycles in the universe,
in the world, in man's civilization.
There was a book written back in the 90s called Fourth Turning.
And it was written by two sociologists.
One of them passed away.
I interviewed the other sociologists several times.
He told me that I asked him when the next spiritual revival would be.
I asked him this question maybe 10 years ago.
And I was hoping he was going to say, oh, you know, maybe around 2018.
And he said, Rick, sometime in the 2040s.
And I'm going, no, no, not the 2040s. He goes, according to the cycles I've studied, I'm going back 500 years, the next spiritual awakening is in the 2040s.
And he said, there's no guarantee it's a Christian awakening.
It's just a spiritual awakening, some kind of spiritual movement. But he said, there are things that have to play out until there's a generation
that's yearning for something spiritual, and that isn't going to show up until the 2040s.
I'm telling you that, Coach, because back in January, I had a dream. I'm not going to talk
about the dream right now. I prayed about the
dream. I asked the Lord to talk to me about it. And I've had three dreams in January,
in consecutive Januaries. And all three of these dreams have told me,
Rick, your time on earth is limited.
You've got work to do.
Get it done.
Okay?
And so, you know, at our age,
you take that seriously.
And I knew what the Lord,
yes, sir, I get it.
You know, he was just saying,
get busy.
Get focused on what I've called you to do.
Anyhow, as I sought the Lord about the meaning of the dream,
it had to do with writing.
And I love to write and I don't write enough.
And that's one of the things that bothers me.
But what he gave me in interpretation of the dream was,
I want you to write books for your grandchildren, not their age now.
Write books that they will receive in their hearts when they are adults.
And I started doing the math, and I thought, they're going to be adults in the 2040s.
And I realized what the Lord was saying.
I want you to write books about sound theology,
about discipleship, service of Christ.
And probably nobody now will even bother to read them.
But there'll be a generation in the 2040s
that will be young adults
and they will discover these books,
and it'll be like a goldmine to them. So I'm with you. I believe that there is going to be—
The Bible says that a wise man leaves an inheritance to his children.
Children's children.
Children, right?
Yes. So the inheritance is the wisdom.
That's right. Let me dive into theology a little bit, because I think we're at a real breaking point, Rick.
And I was raised Catholic.
I got radically born again in 1978.
I was raised, I was a good little Catholic boy.
There was really no end time theology in the Catholic Church.
And, you know, my wife and I both received Christ in 1907.
Changes are, I did for me what a phone booth did for
Clark Kent. That's what I tell everybody, right? But at the same time, we're coming, I got into the
church and started to hear about the rapture and end times prophecy and late great planet Earth and
Hal Lindsey and all that, just inundated with all that stuff. You know what I'm talking about?
And Rick, I'm not making fun of it.
I'm not saying anything, but it has stolen the heart right out of the Christian man.
It's like if I'm a football guy and I'm coaching my football team and it's late in the game
and I say, oh, well, we win in the end.
I'm going to throw that guy off of the daggone football field because that's when we need
him the most.
So here's what I think's going on as to
where we are. If the sky splits tonight and Jesus returns, dude, I'm out of here. Praise the Lord.
Honored to go. Rick, what if it doesn't happen? What if in the very midst of us, we see, dare I
say it, this is almost like a cuss word. What if we were to see the destruction of Israel?
What would that do to theological America, Rick, if that were to happen?
If Israel got nuked, I'm not praying for it, folks.
I'm not saying it is.
But if Israel got nuked, where's our theology all of a sudden, Rick?
They would be devastated.
Because Israel has become their idol.
It has.
And look, I don't know.
I don't know.
I know what I've read.
Rick, there's 44,000 different denominations.
None of them believe the same thing.
Well, some of them do.
You understand.
You've been at this longer than me. But Rick, what are we, what's Rick Wiles and Coach Dave
and others like us going to do? How are we going to pick up the pieces if Israel disappears and
we're still here? So if the rapture theology, the late great planet Earth, Hal Lindsey, all the Christian Zionism and so forth, since the 1970s.
If it has rocked the church to sleep,
then who's behind it?
Ultimately, who's behind it? Satan.
The wicked one. The wicked one gently put the church
to sleep by feeding them a false doctrine
that made them have a false sense of security.
And that's the same thing I've run into.
People have said, well, Rick, if you're right,
it doesn't matter because I'm going to be raptured
and taken out of here.
I don't have to worry about this.
Well, the stuff I'm reading and what I've read every day coming out of here. I don't have to worry about this. Well, the stuff I'm reading and what I've
read every day coming out of Russia, it tells me the Russians think that we have gone totally
satanic. They believe that we have lost our minds and that we are dangerous and that we're demoniacs with nuclear weapons.
That's how the Russians see us.
And we're supposed to think that the world sees Joe Biden as a Christian.
Really?
Do we really think that that's the way that the world views America?
Rick, I get in trouble all the time because I say to people, I think Putin is more Christian than Biden.
That's open for debate, isn't it?
I mean, you look at the things that they're not allowing in Russia. They're not allowing homosexuality and trans, all that stuff that we're piping into our kids' education.
You can't do that stuff over in Russia. In fact, the Russians, their attitude is we're at war with the West because the West is determined to make us give up our Christianity and embrace their paganism.
And so, Rick, we've made this big mistake.
We think the Russian government is the Russian people.
And here we are in America.
We know that the American government isn't the American people. And here we are in America, we know that the American government
isn't the American people. And we're looking at the same thing going on in both places.
They're trying to pit the Russian people, God-fearing Russian Christians against God-fearing
American Christians while the two governments go at it. And so, once again, the question is, ultimately,
who's behind that strategy? That's right. That's right. Right? What says in 2 Thessalonians,
that the Lord, because we rejected the truth, the Lord would send a strong delusion that we
would believe a lie. Rick, the Lord is sending the strong delusion as a form of judgment. That's
what I think is going on. I am in absolute agreement with you.
Coach, we've got about five, seven minutes here.
One of the frustrations I've had over the years is the group of people in America that identify themselves as patriots.
Okay?
God bless them.
Good people. All them. Good people.
All right.
Good people.
And they've tried to save this country through politics.
Yeah.
What do you think has been their greatest failure, their greatest weakness?
Well, first of all, there's a lot of them. 25% of Chris's don't even vote, Rick.
They don't even vote. And I think from my standpoint, it's the idea that it doesn't
matter what we do. God's in control. We win in the end. I think that's been the most paralyzing.
Again, Rick, football coach, right? I couldn't
coach a football team like that. You mean to tell me we're going to lay down in the fourth quarter,
but we'll crawl across the finish line? We're going to win? Brother, any football team I ever
coached, they played hard to the end. And especially when we were behind, right? I would
get those guys in the huddle. We're down two touchdowns, time's running out on the end. And especially when we were behind, right? I would get those guys in the huddle.
We're down two touchdowns, time's running out on the clock. I'd get in the huddle and I said,
listen, I want you guys to know this. I'm going to watch this game film and I'm watching this last two minutes to see which one of you guys quit. If you quit on us now, you're never going
to see the field again. Rick, that has got to be our attitude, not submission. Fight till the end. I absolutely agree.
My personal view is that the greatest failure of the so-called patriots in America,
the groups that would be the MAGA movement or whatever, is they have tried to save the country
without God.
They pay lip service to God.
Oh yeah, I'm a Christian.
God bless America.
But their personal lives do not reflect discipleship.
They're porn addicts.
They're committing all kinds of sexual sins.
They're doing all kinds of things contrary to the word of God.
And then they go to rallies.
They go to rallies and say, we're Christian patriots.
Well, Jesus has a different standard for patriots of his nation.
You better be a patriot in the kingdom of God.
Amen.
And he's got to come—
Rick, here's what I—I'm sorry.
No, go ahead.
Here's what I think it is.
Here's the problem.
These guys in church, I don't know where they are spiritually, right?
Not all of them are born again.
We certainly understand that.
But they look at what's going on outside the church, and the pastor isn't talking about any of it.
He has no solution to it.
And they get in there, and they're frustrated.
And their wife loves the service
and she loved the music. And the guy's sitting there biting his nails because his son's got
tattoos coming out of his ears. And so he's looking for someone to give him direction
and the courage and the authority to stand up and push back as a Christian. Now, look,
I'm not bragging about anything, Rick. We are finding those guys all across America. And General Flynn told us this, told all of us this,
local action, national impact. We've taken our eyes off of Washington, D.C., buddy.
We're focusing on city hall, school boards. We're focusing right here where we can make a difference
in our neighborhood on a search
mission to find other like-minded Christians who really understand what's going on. And I got to
tell you, Rick, I'm optimistic. I'm optimistic that we are really beginning to make a difference
locally. I love hearing that because that's the other side of the issue. Too many churches are really oriented towards the female members,
and they don't offer the men anything.
And they're building, and obviously you need men and women in church.
But a lot of the men are going to, they go to the church with their wives.
They're like, this is pretty lame.
Can we talk about some real stuff that's going on right now? Rick, I've often said this, right? If you weren't a Christian and you were on the
outside and you were looking in at the American Christian church and you were a man with some
testosterone and Budweiser on your elbow or your shoulder, why would you want to be one of us?
What is there about the American Christian church that would draw you? In fact, I had a guy tell me
one time, he says, Coach, I appreciate everything you do and all yada, yada, yada, but I'm not ready
to give up my manhood. That's sad, isn't it, Rick, to think that's what Christianity has become?
That the greatest man of all time willingly stood and faced the giants and laid down his life by choice.
Dude, that's manhood.
And we're getting the exact opposite message about Jesus.
The man didn't say to you, I'm unwilling to give up my sin.
He said, I'm unwilling to give up my manhood.
Because he saw that going to church would... Neuter him.
Neuter him, right?
Yeah.
Hey.
Hey, Rick.
Those pastors, they go the other way when they see me coming.
I mean, I want to be friends with them, you understand?
But I think, come on here, dude.
Come on here.
We've got some work to do.
We should send them into total shock and walk in together. Yes. We need bodyguards, I on here. We've got some work to do. We should send them into total shock and walk in together.
Yes.
We need bodyguards, I'm afraid, brother.
You'd have to get smelling salts for these guys.
They'd be passed out in the aisles.
I've got to go.
Hey, Coach Dave, it is so good to talk to you again.
We've got to do this more often because you and I are right on the same wavelength.
And I've got some things I want to talk to you about privately. I'll be getting in
touch with you. All right. So Coach Dave Live, and it's coachdavelive.com.
Every morning at 7 a.m., it's interactive. It's awesome. It's become like a big church,
although I don't want to be another church and another pastor. But Rick, we talk about the
issues of the day, what the Bible says about it, and what we need to do to correct it.
It's powerful, man.
Fantastic.
We're waking people up all across America.
All right.
Coach Dave Live.
Coach Dave Dobbener.
Good to see you, Coach.
Take care.

Hey, we will definitely have Coach Dobbenmeier back on the program.
He used to be a regular guest.
I can't believe so much time went by, years, and we didn't talk to each other.
Yes.
Not because we weren't talking.
We were both busy on our own operations, and that's how it is.
Time goes by very quickly. Anyhow, I've been praying and asking the Lord some specific questions.
And two weeks ago, I asked the Lord, I said, what do I need to do to get an answer from you on this?
I opened up my Bible.
It fell open to Mark chapter 6, verse 31.
Jesus said, come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest a while.
I said, okay, Lord, I get it.
You want me to take a break.
I'm taking a break.
I'll be gone next week.
And Susan and I are just going away to be quiet, to be with the Lord and rest.
Doc's got some great things planned for next week.
Don't miss it.
I'll see you in a week.

and we have been in the Gospel according to St. Matthew since January. We're now in the 23rd
chapter, and we're moving towards the closing of chapter 23. Today, we're going to be looking at verses 23 through 28
let's pray and invite the Lord and also remember today's Friday so we will be
having the Lord's Supper at the conclusion of today's Bible study father
this is a beautiful wonderful day and we praise you and we glorify you and we give you thanksgiving, we are absolutely deeply grateful
that you have saved our souls and made us sons and daughters in your kingdom. Father, we desire
to know more about your son, Jesus Christ, and his kingdom. And the way to know more is to study your word and so we are
applying ourselves for one hour today to studying your word so come Holy Spirit
and fill our hearts and minds with knowledge and revelation of Jesus Christ
and his kingdom teach us of righteousness and holiness and your ways
father so that we would be pleasing children to you.
This we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
Amen. Let's get right to it today.
If you've got your Bibles, please open them to Matthew chapter 23.
And we'll be looking at verses 23 through 28 today.
We want to give as much time as we can to the Word today.
And it reads,
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin
and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith. These ought ye to have
done and not to leave the other undone. You blind guides would strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Thou blind Pharisee, first cleanse that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites,
for ye are like unto whited sepulchres,
which indeed appear beautiful outward,
but are within full of dead men's bones,
and all uncleanness.
Even so, ye also outwardly appear righteous and unto men,
but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity
amen okay verse 23 woe to you scribes and pharisees hypocrites for you tithe mint
dill and cumin and have left undone the weightier matters of the law justice mercy faith but you ought to have done these and not to have left the other undone.
So verse 23, Jesus delivers woe number five, and he condemned the scribes and the Pharisees,
and he labeled them hypocrites. Now he mentioned the tithing of plants, but we should point out that Deuteronomy 12, 17
of the law mentions tithing only certain agricultural products like corn and wine and oil. But the Pharisees, on their own, extended this rule to include the smallest
herbs. And so they meticulously tithe even insignificant amounts of herbs, herbs like mint and dill. So most likely they were justifying this rule on Leviticus 2730,
and all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land
or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's.
It is holy unto the Lord.
But the Pharisees' tithing practices
extended beyond what the Mosaic law required them.
Right.
And it was driven by the tradition of the rabbis,
the elders, the Pharisees,
rather than direct commandment from Almighty God.
Now, while this extreme observance
might have been driven by a sincere desire to adhere strictly to the law
Jesus criticized them not for tithing garden herbs but for neglecting weightier matters of the law right he said
but you ought to have done these done what
well the weightier matters of the law he identifies as judgment mercy and faith
and this comes from micah 6 verses 6 and 8. jesus always would go back to
the scriptures of the old testament of course at that time
they didn't refer to it as the old Testament. It was the Word of God.
It was the only thing.
But he's always taking them back to the Word of God.
Right.
And he's showing them that he's not teaching something new and radical.
He's teaching something old and radical.
So mercy, judgment, mercy, and love okay um
actually the word is justice mercy and faith
so judgment refers to fairness and righteousness in dealing with others,
rendering to each person what is rightfully due.
It includes fair and just administration of laws, the protection of the oppressed.
Judgment does not mean you're being judged it it means
the execution of fair administration of rules and regulations and law being fair to everybody mercy Mercy emphasizes compassion, kindness, benevolence, especially toward the poor, the suffering, those in distress.
Faith involves trusting God, obedience to his commandments, giving to God what is rightfully his. Faithfully keeping the promises of God, or faithfully keeping
your promises to God. The word faith is actually better translated as faithfulness. Faithfulness. Faithfulness denotes fidelity.
Right.
Trustworthiness.
Jesus is saying you need to be trustworthy.
Faithful.
So these principles constitute the essence of true righteousness.
And he's saying these these are the foundation,
these are foundational to the law.
I'm not making this up.
This has always been in the law.
So he did not scold them for their meticulous tithing.
His wrath was ignited by their lack of compassion, mercy, kindness, generosity towards other humans, their lack of devotion to God.
They were loyal to the law, not the lawgiver.
I like that.
They missed it.
He wasn't upset with him keeping the law but he's telling them there's more to the law than this and faith and judgment.
And so they were breaking the law.
See, the Pharisees, they never grasped that concept,
that they were lawbreakers.
They prided themselves as the best of the best of law keepers because everything
was based on these meticulous adherence to their rules but it wasn't what God
told them so the Pharisees what Jesus is teaching them here is to strike a healthy balance between
obedience to the law devotion to God and mercy towards men and women he did not
want tithing to overshadow or replace the practice of justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Those three things are just as much the law as tithing, as the Sabbath.
The Pharisees could never grasp that because their hearts were hard.
They were wicked.
A wicked person cannot be kind and generous.
A wicked person can't be merciful so he called
him hypocrites hypocrites are actors actors are people portraying the role of a person whom they
are not so the pharisees were guilty of giving extreme attention and care to minor obligations while
neglecting the significant moral obligations, such as loving God with all their heart, mind,
and soul, and loving their neighbor as themselves.
Rituals were more important than relationships.
Right.
Yeah, that's right.
So the law was more important than the lawgiver.
Rituals were more important than relationships. So think of this but the love for God loving God with all
your heart mind and soul is is vertical loving your neighbor as yourself is horizontal what does that form across
four forms across isn't that amazing
that's all when you look at the cross that's all you need to see vertical love
God with all your heart mind and soul horizontal love your neighbor as yourself you'll always be at the cross it's a simple symbol to
help us walk the right path a verse 24 you blind guides who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel. King James says, strain at a gnat. That should be better translated
as strain out a gnat. Because the Jews took meticulous care in filtering out the smallest impurities from their drinks
yes they use linen or gauze to uh prevent you know they would strain their liquids
through linen or gauze so that they would not accidentally consume unclean insects
or parasites. The gnats would lay eggs and there would be larvae. the Jews were very meticulous about straining their drinks so that they didn't drink anything impure.
And we know about gnats, don't we, Rick, having been to Jordan twice?
You try to get a drink somewhere at some roadside stand or a small cafe, The gnats are everywhere.
Well, that one drink I had in Petra,
it had more than gnats in it.
Yeah.
I got so sick.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my, was I sick.
Honestly, I thought they were going to have to put me on a donkey
to get me back to the hotel.
I was so sick, Doc, I couldn't walk.
And you know how far that walk is from the back end of Petra.
And it was hot.
And I drank a mint lemon juice that was not mint and lemon it was something else and it had
it had been out in the sun all day and the moment i i i gulped it i didn't sip it i gulped it i was
so thirsty and um john mark ran up to me and said don don't drink that. It's sour.
It's something wrong with it.
And I said, I've already finished it.
And it just about finished me.
Who knows what was in that?
But that's normal.
JOHN MCWHORTER- Maybe it's older than that.
LARRY HYRBMAN JR.: It may have.
And the larva and the maggots
and everything else the health with it so look when you're living in that kind of environment
and you're talking 2,000 years ago they did their best to strain their their drinks they didn't have
a British Burke filled you know water filter they didn't have a British Brookfield water filter.
They didn't have any of these things that we have today.
So they used galls and linen.
And so they know what Jesus is talking about.
You strain out a gnat, which you swallow a camel Leviticus 11 41 prohibited the Jews from consuming any creeping thing
including gnats bugs so they they went to great lengths to make sure they didn't break the law.
And they also didn't want to swallow anything that was going to make them sick.
Now, the camel was also, according to Leviticus 4, an impure animal, an unclean animal.
So, he said, you strain out the gnats but you you eat the camel you you you go to great
lengths to make sure that you do not swallow this tiny little gnat because you know that this gnat
is unclean but you don't have a problem swallowing a giant camel.
I mean, obviously they can't swallow a camel.
He's using an absurd analogy.
It represents significant moral and ethical failure to swallow a camel means you're capable of gross sin.
The Pharisees were proud to tell everybody, we've strained out the smallest sins.
We're pure. we're clean and jesus said no you you're straining out the tiny little sins but you're swallowing the big sense right
so that allowed themselves to commit
heinous crimes and get away with it because they use their religious rules their facade as actors
they're saying to the public look how look how pure we are look how clean we are
and and people said mine they're they're like super jew you can't
none of us can attain their their their height of of purity and yet jesus is looking at him going
no you're not super jew you're the worst you're you're not super Jew. You're the worst.
You're swallowing giant sins.
So verse 25.
And you got to keep in mind, all right,
that the Pharisees were not representative of the Jewish population.
The Jewish population was looking up to them for moral guidance.
They wanted to know what to do.
How do we serve God?
How do we obey the law?
Show us the way.
That's why Jesus condemned the Pharisees so strongly.
Because he called them blind guides.
The people were following blind leaders.
You never see Jesus condemning the common Jews.
Right.
At no point does he go out there into the public and go
you woe to you common people no he always put his woes on the leaders
because they were misleading the common people verse 25 woe unto you scribes and Pharisees
hypocrites for you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter but within
they are full of extortion and unrighteousness. Yes.
So he delivers another woe.
Once again, calls them hypocrites,
appearing righteous on the outside,
but full of corruption inside.
He said, for you may clean the outside of the cup and of the platter so the cup and a platter the plate the cup and the plate represent not only the outward appearance, but also the inner state of the Pharisees.
Follow me to get the full meaning of what Jesus was teaching.
The Pharisees meticulously followed traditions.
Yes.
Including strict rules about washing cups and platters.
Yet their actions were devoid of true righteousness.
While the Pharisees were concerned about external cleanliness,
Jesus criticized them for their lack of integrity and moral uprightness, their internal uncleanliness.
He said, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
For you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for their practices of obtaining wealth through unjust means,
including extortion, oppression of the poor, indulging in excessive self-gratification,
despite their outward appearance, very religious.
The Pharisees were morally bankrupt Lacking inward purity.
Just as dinnerware on a table may appear clean on the outside, they harbored uncleanness on the inside and so the Pharisees outward righteousness was
masking their internal sinfulness
acros yet Acra is a accuracy yeah yeah I would see a accuracy a thank you though akrasia is the greek word translated as excess
it means in temperance lack of restraint the inability to main control of yourself
being mastered by your urges indulgence in sinful behavior
basically allowed indulgence in sinful behavior basically a lout I've got pictures in my mind of people that fit Similar themes are found in Luke's gospel, where he used the term wickedness instead of exness.
It speaks of the Pharisees' moral depravity. is not limited to indulgence in food and drinks but it extends to all areas of life including business money career ambition and it's it's in contrast with the words abstinence or moderation Rapacity is excessive greed. Excess is intemperance, the inability to control yourself.
Both words describe the extent of the Pharisees' moral corruption and their utter disregard for ethical principles.
Jesus said, for you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter,
but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
Jesus said the exterior of the Pharisees' cups and platters were sparkling clean,
but the contents in the cups and on the platters were toxic, filthy.
So imagine you have a golden cup, but it's filled with sewage.
Yeah.
Sewage.
Think of right out of the toilet.
It's filled with sewage.
Or you have a plate, a platter, a side dish.
That's what this is, like an appetizer plate.
Yeah.
But full of just refuse and slop.
But the plate is sparkling clean right
so he's using this symbolism to describe to the pharisees their outward appearance
versus their true character their outward religious appearance was spotless
you couldn't criticize them. Again, they're super Jews. And they wanted every
lower Jew to believe that they were super Jews. But their inward hearts were filled
with extortion of others and indulgence for themselves. They extorted money out of other people
so that they could lavish the money on themselves.
Wow, that sounds like some TV preachers.
Yes.
Wow.
So despite meticulous adherence
to external purification rituals
the Pharisees hearts were filled with corruption and sin
verse 26 Jesus said
you blind Pharisees
first clean the inside of the cup
King James says cleanse first first clean the inside of the cup.
King James says, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter,
that the outside of them may be clean also.
So their meticulous cleaning of cups and platters
contrasts with their lack of concern for moral integrity.
And so the external cleanliness of the cup and the dish, once again, is symbolic of outward
appearances that should reflect genuine internal purity.
Jesus said he emphasized the need to first purify the heart
and your intentions before focusing on your external actions.
This is the heart of the message.
Clean your heart first. Clean your heart and mind first before you clean
up the outside of your life.
You know, Rick, that word that's used there, that cathardizo for cleansing, has an application
for us. Over in 1 John, it's used in 1 John 1, 7, it says, but if we walk in the
light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ,
his son, cleanses us from all sin, carthadizo. And then two verses later, if we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness and so we we too as believers we have an obligation to keep our cup
and platter clean as well how do we do that we bring our faults our failures our sins to jesus
we confess our sins and if we confess our sins we have the promise that he's faithful and just to not only forgive us,
but to clean the cup and the platter as well, Lord.
Amen.
So it's important that we keep that in mind, that there's an expectation of cleanliness,
but it doesn't derive from ourselves.
It derives from what only God can do.
Yes.
Doc, you said cleanse first.
Cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter.
Yes.
That the outside of them may be clean also.
The emphasis is on the word first. There is a priority or
sequence of actions. That which is within the cup and platter. Jesus did not say they
should first wash the inside of the cups and platters he said to first cleanse the contents placed in
the cups and platters listen to what he said cleanse right, he says that the outside of them may be clean also.
The word that emphasizes the purpose or desired outcome of the cleansing.
First cleanse what is inside the cup and on the platter in order that the outside may automatically be clean.
Without addressing the internal impurity issue, outward cleanliness is not genuine.
Right.
Jesus never condemned the cleansing of eating utensils and dinnerware.
Right.
He condemned the Pharisees' hypocrisy of being obsessed with outward cleanliness of dinnerware
while having no conviction about the wickedness that inwardly polluted their souls
as jesus is teaching us that while someone may appear outwardly pure their heart may still be impure but only a pure heart will lead to a pure and holy life there's there's an inseparable connection between the condition of one's heart and one's actions.
So external purity should be the result of internal purity, not the other way around.
So in verse 25, Jesus told the Pharisees what was inside them.
What's in the cup? what's on the platter
extortion and intemperance in verse 26 Jesus tells the Pharisees to prioritize
inner purity by removing extortion oppression luxury and temperance from their lives right again
they're totally focused on we got to clean these cups and platters wash them
ten times go through all these rituals and the people doing the cleansing themselves are impure.
By them touching the platter and the cup, they made it impure.
It didn't matter how many times you washed it, every time they touched it, it was unclean again.
Yeah.
Because they weren't clean.
That's right. DACA has already answered this question how can our inner lives be washed clean
he already read the scriptures
the blood of jesus is the only substance with a cleansing agent capable of removing sin and its stains.
Yes.
It not only removes the sin, it removes the stains.
It removes the ring around the tub.
Your heart doesn't even have a ring of scum on it.
The blood removes the sin, and it also removes the stain of the sin.
The Word of God is the only substance capable of renewing our minds. The Holy Spirit is the only force capable of transforming our lives through grace and
the process of sanctification.
Sanctification isn't instant.
It's not one time.
It's a process over many years
you're still being sanctified
now justification is instant when you're saved when you're
when your soul is sealed in christ that's justification but sanctification takes time. That's the cleansing.
Yes.
The Holy Spirit is cleansing
the inside of you,
sanctifying you.
How does he do it?
Through the blood,
through the word,
through his spirit,
and through confession of sin.
Confession of sin.
Yeah.
If we confess our sins, then he's faithful and just to cleanse us.
Yes.
So true holiness involves both internal transformation and outward obedience to God's commandments.
Internal transformation of your being, your soul,
and outward obedience to the commandments of God.
The Pharisees only emphasized the outward obedience to the law.
They didn't care about the internal state of their soul.
They deceived themselves.
So near external reformation, a show of holiness without genuine internal grace means nothing.
It has no value in God's sight.
A person cannot be considered truly pure if their inner being is tainted with sin.
Right.
Your inward saintlessness, I guess that's a word, saintliness, your inward saintliness
is revealed through
outward expression your speech your actions your countenance even your
countenance tells others that you're full of the joy of the Lord inner and outer purity are interconnected genuine righteousness manifests in both thoughts and
actions and true purity originates with from within and influences external actions and behavior
he said that it's that it's outside may become clean also may become
that that speaks of a transformational process
the the external cleanliness that that should be a manifestation of internal holiness it speaks
of the process of sanctification by the Holy Spirit that its outside may become, see, it's over time. If you clean up the inside, the outside may become clean.
Proverbs 4.23,
Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.
Yes. diligence for out of it are the issues of life yes your life everything in your life right this this is
what's flowing out of you is creating the issues of your life
keep your heart with all diligence verse 27 are we doing the time
doc oh we're good okay verse 27 woe unto you scribes and
Pharisees hypocrites for you are a like whited sepulchers,
which indeed appear beautiful outward,
but are within full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness.
So in verse 27, Jesus issues his seventh woe to the Pharisees.
He compared them to whitewashed tombs for dead corpses.
So whitewashing tombs being smeared with chalk infused
water and lime powder the lime was applied to the tombs to keep them clean
whitewashed attractive I mean people want to hey this is where I'm gonna be
buried this is where my granddad's buried I've got to go in there and I got
to do you know in our age we put flowers on graves. Right. Then they put... Leaves, yeah. They put lime on tombs.
Yes.
It was a respect for the dead.
So the outward appearance of the tombs was beautiful.
But within, they contained dead men's bones.
There was uncleanness inside the tombs.
And that represented the hypocrisy and corruption
of the religious leaders.
So this is a metaphor
that is a contrast between external appearance and internal
reality.
Right.
External appearance does not necessarily reflect internal reality.
There was a discrepancy between the Pharisees outward righteousness and their inward depravity.
They were depraved and yet they they walked around Jerusalem and
Judea pretending acting as hypocrites hypocrites or actors acting as though
they were righteous and Jesus telling them saying I see through you. You're like a tomb that's been painted white,
but inside there are rotting corpses.
There are cadavers lying in there, bugs and worms crawling in and out.
And no matter how many coats of whitewash you put on the outside,
it does not negate the fact that there is the dead inside.
That's right.
So the Pharisees presented an attractive facade, but it was masking their moral decay and spiritual death that was within.
So the Pharisees were spiritually and morally dead in the eyes of Jesus,
and he told them.
He told them, he said, I can see through you.
I see your soul.
Your souls are filled with corruption and decay.
They smell like corpses.
You stink.
And Jesus got a different sense of smell.
He can smell sin.
And it's really ranked him.
It's disgusting. Doc, maybe that's why sin can't him. It's disgusting.
Doc, maybe that's why sin can't be in God's presence.
It just stinks too much.
Right.
He just can't be around it. It stinks.
His sense of smell is so heightened.
He just can't be around sin.
So you're saying death stinks?
Death stinks. Yeah. Bring a dead raccoon up and put it on your porch.
Let it bake in the sun. Tell me what you smell when you go by. You'll get that critter out
of your property really fast. You know, Corinthians tells us that the last enemy to be defeated will be death.
Can you just imagine Jesus on that final day as he kills death, and he says, by the way,
you stink too.
He gets in one final insult, and you stink stink this is the last time I've got to
smell you know you praise God death he kills death I never thought about that
doctor the reason God cannot be in the presence of sin is because it stinks too too much this analogy is extended in Luke 11 44 where Jesus compares the
Pharisees to and now in Luke 11 he compares them to hidden graves that people unknowingly walk over,
thereby contracting ceremonial defilement without realizing it.
In Luke 11, verse 44, it says,
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you are as graves which appear not,
and the men that walk over them are not aware of them because in those days you you could not touch a grave right and so they would get overgrown
and then you would unknowingly walk on a grave yes so although Luke's account differ slightly from Matthew the
essence is the same hypocrites deceive others with outward appearance and just
like sepulchers tubes that go unnoticed by passerbys they contain hidden filth.
And just coming in contact with them.
Yes.
Can soil you.
Right, so even the guys
that whitewash the tombs every year,
so once a year they would whitewash the tombs,
the very fact that they were whitewashing the tombs,
they were unclean for a certain period of time.
That's right.
So they had to go through cleansing rituals.
Yes.
Verse 28.
Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity so now he adds iniquity to the list of
charges which means lawlessness that hypocrisy and lawless lawlessness
describes their outward behavior and their inner disposition their outward behavior and their inner disposition. Their outward behavior is hypocrisy.
Their inward disposition is lawlessness.
Hypocrisy refers to their pretense of righteousness.
But the lawlessness speaks of their disobedience
to God yes so they showed the public look how obedient we are but they showed
to God how disobedient they were Jesus which means they had no fear of God.
So, you know, he's describing them as tombs full of dead men's bones.
They were living tombs.
Wow.
Wow. Living tombs that encompass spiritual death and decay
despite a sparkling clean outside religious facade.
They were the walking dead.
And so Jesus is admonishing the Pharise dead. And so
Jesus is admonishing
the Pharisees
for appearing righteous in the eyes
of men
while
harboring unrighteousness
within their hearts towards God.
Which was the
great sin.
Yes.
They knew they were deceiving God.
They knew they weren't deceiving.
They knew they were disobeying God.
They knew it.
Their hearts were wicked.
Religion was a career.
It was a game.
It was their stick yes and they used it for political
power and financial gain and they took the homes of widows they used their they created the courts they appointed themselves as judges and
they they robbed people of their property through their corrupt courts
while pretending to be righteous men
doc anything you want to add to it I know we need to move towards the Lord's
Supper no other than the fact that this is a message for us today too to make
sure that you know we are in right standing with Lord and it fits right in
with the Lord's Supper and everything I got to thinking as we were reading the
passage earlier where it talked about the cup and the plate.
And then here we are about to enter into the Lord's Supper.
And so I'm just seeing a connection there and everything.
But that we should always maintain a heart of purity.
We have the advantage now in that we can bring our sins before the Lord, lay them before him and confess them.
We're not bound by our sin anymore.
We are not slaves to our sin anymore.
And so we don't have to remain as dead tombs.
We've been resurrected to new life.
Yes, that's right um you know uh look we're going to go to
the lord's table so what are we going to do what the same thing we do every week we ask the lord
to examine ourselves right we ask the holy spirit to bring to our mind to the forefront of our minds, anything that is contrary to God's will,
his commandments. Is there anything in our behavior, our thoughts, anything that's
displeasing to him? We bring it to him now. And we talk about, you know, I always make the analogy
of, hey, we're going to go to the Lord's table we have to first go to the washroom
that's right remember
grandma always said wash your hands
so we're going now to wash
our hearts
wash our hearts and our minds
before we go to the Lord's table
and
what comes out
of that spigot
is not water what comes out of that spigot is not water.
What comes out of that fountain is blood.
Yes.
It's a fountain that never runs dry.
Never loses its power.
Man, there's some hymns that speak about the blood.
So let's go to the washroom.
Amen.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Father, thank you for teaching us your word today and keep us from becoming like the Pharisees.
Father, prevent us from being Christian Pharisees.
Father, soften our hearts that we would be kind and tender towards others
and loving towards you and obedient towards you.
Father, we come to your washroom before we go to your table,
and we ask that you wash our hearts and minds, wash our bodies.
However we have sinned, wash us with the blood
of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Wash
away the sins and
the stain of the sins.
The stain is the memories
of the sins,
the effects of the sins,
the damage caused by the sins.
Wash away the stains.
Cleanse our lives.
And make us new and whole.
And pleasing to you, Father.
Father, we confess our sins.
Whatever we have done or whatever we are that is displeasing to you whatever we have said
or thought or haven't said or thought or done that's displeasing to you father we we confess
our sins and we ask for forgiveness in the name of jesus. Amen. Amen. Amen.
And once again, 1 John 1.9 says,
If we confess our sins,
He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So we have that promise from Him.
You know, we have new people
that come in and out of Morning Manna.
And for those of you who are new to Morning Manna,
on Fridays we celebrate the Lord's Supper.
And I still get messages from people,
who can participate in the Lord's Supper?
If you've confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in your life,
you've made that confession of the sins in your life,
you've been cleansed in your life,
and that you've also been baptized in water according to scriptures.
And then you are welcome to participate in the Lord's Supper, the Lord's Table.
In fact, we encourage you to do so.
Jesus encouraged us to participate in the Lord's Table often.
Not just once in a while, but often.
Why?
To remember him. To remember Him.
To remember Him.
And so I encourage you today, if this is your first time
or maybe your first time in a long time in receiving the Lord's Table,
if you've met those requirements there, then we invite you to participate with us.
And what we normally do, Rick prayed for us to make sure our hearts
are clean but we also want to bless the elements of the Lord's table with prayer
before we partake of them and ask the Lord to bless them that's what we're
going to do right now Almighty God in your tender mercy you gave your only
begotten Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption
he offered himself and made once for all time a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for
the sins of the whole world. And he instituted this remembrance of his passion and death,
which he commanded us to continue until he comes again. And so, Father, we ask you to bless and
sanctify with your word and Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine that we may
partake of his most blessed body and blood christ our passover lamb has been sacrificed once for all
upon the cross therefore let us keep the feast hallelujah on the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it,
gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat. This is my body, which was given for you,
preserve your body and soul to everlasting life.
This is the bread of heaven.
Take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you.
Then after supper, Jesus took the cup,
and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them,
saying, Drink this, all of you, for this is my blood of the the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins
whenever you drink it do this in remembrance of me
praise god the blood of our lord jesus christ which was shed for you, preserve your body and soul to everlasting life.
Drink the cup of salvation in remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you,
and be thankful.
Behold the Lamb of God.
Behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
and blessed are those who are invited to the married supper of the Lamb.
This sacrament is the gift of God for the people of God.
Feed on him by faith with thanksgiving
that Christ died for you.
Praise God.
Rick, we have about four minutes left
in our hour here.
Anything else you want to add
to our lesson today?
No, I think that's it.
So just a reminder that, you know,
I'll be gone for a week, and Doc will be leading the class all next week.
And you'll be going into Chapter 24, Doc.
I'll slow it down because the folks need to hear your take on that.
Well, no, don't slow it down.
Do what you want to do.
Okay, teach me.
But I am looking forward to chapter 24
and 25.
And we've gone over 24 with
folks before, but
this will be good. It's good every time.
Because it's probably the one
chapter of the Bible, besides
Revelation 20, that we probably
get the most questions about.
So next week
we'll start on that. And then when Rick Rick rejoins us I'm sure we'll have a
lot more to say.
And just one other thing, and we seldom say this on Morning Matter, but we have thousands
of people that listen or watch on various platforms and on WWCR, International Shortwave Radio,
we would be very blessed if you would show appreciation for Morning Manna
by making a donation to the ministry that sponsors this,
which is Faith and Values Fellowship.
There is a great cost involved in everything that we're doing,
and there's labor involved
uh so you know a total if you put everything in it it's about um
um six hours in preparation for class then an. That's seven, that's a work day.
That's almost a full work day for one class.
Okay.
And that's just, that's just preparing and getting ready and building out the outline
because there's studying to do.
And then there's building out the outline.
It takes time. And there is an building out the outline. It takes time.
And there is an expense of this platform.
There's an expense of paying for WWCR.
Paul said you shouldn't muzzle the ox while he's working okay the the the lesson is it's cruel and inhumane to make an ox work and put a muzzle over its mouth and not allow it to eat while it's working okay so it is a biblical
principle to sow into churches and ministries that are doing God's work. And so this is a time for you, if you're not a donor, if you're not a giver,
if you're one of the people that you've been in this class for months, maybe the entire year.
This is an opportunity for you to now start participating at another level.
Many people in this class are already donors, but are others who are checking in uh from other
platforms yes and um you're we we're delighted to have you but please come in a little deeper
wade into wade into the river a little deeper okay get yourself wet with the holy spirit come
on in and and bless this ministry,
and then God's going to bless you
because you're helping us expand the teaching of the word.
We've got big plans for 2025 with this program, Morning Manna.
So we would like you to be part of it,
but we need your support.
All right, Doc, that's it for me.
Praise God. We're so glad that you joined us not only today, but we need your support. All right, Doc, that's it for me. Praise God.
We're so glad that you joined us not only today but all this week for Morning Manna.
We invite you to come alongside us next week as well as we continue our study.
We're going to continue our journey here in Matthew 23,
and pretty soon we'll be getting into Matthew 24.
So we're getting into a very exciting time in the study of the Scriptures.
So we invite you to join us all next week for Morning Manor.
Be praying for Rick and for Susan, for
traveling mercies for them.
Rick, we love you, and we just bless you
on your journey, and we ask
the Lord to watch over you all this week.
Until Monday morning, bright
and early, 8 a.m. live
here on the East Coast, join us
for the next edition of Morning Manna.
God bless you.
