American-owned, American-made, American Reserves. live from dallas texas this is true news we are streaming from the k bailey hutchinson
convention center in the beautiful city of d in the Lone Star State of Texas.
And we are here for the National Rifle Association Annual Convention.
And we're going to spend the next hour here at the NRA Convention.
Doc Burkhardt is with me.
And we got in late last night.
We had no time to scope out the place, do all the things that is necessary to produce a live show.
We are doing this on the fly.
And we're praying that everything just stays together.
It will.
And the stream will go out live as we are talking here.
We're glad to have you with us.
We're going to be here for the next hour.
And what we're going to do is walk you through the convention.
And we're just going to let you listen to us talk to the people who are here at the NRA.
Doc, how long has the NRA been in existence?
You know, it's surprising, but it's been around for 153 years.
It was founded in 1871, Rick, in New York State.
153 years.
And it was chartered.
It was incorporated in the state of New York in 1871, back when it was safe to have a gun organization in the state of New York.
Right.
That's a long time ago.
You know, the NRA has had a lot of legal problems because their corporation charter was in the state of New York.
And now the state of New York has a socialist, communistic, anti-Second Amendment attorney general, Letitia James, the same one who's going after President Trump.
She's the same one who's gone after the NRA. And why Letitia James in New York?
Because the NRA charter was in the state of New York. They never moved their charter to a gun
friendly state. So let that be wisdom to everybody. If you have a corporation in an unfriendly state,
you ought to move it. Move the charter. You don't necessarily have to move the business. Just move the incorporation papers. Anyhow, we are here
to, like I said, just to let you see
the convention. Now tomorrow, President Trump will be here
and they're telling us right now that the attendance for today, this is
the opening day, the attendance is what, 55,000 right now?
57,000 right now.
But tomorrow, with President Trump here, they are anticipating 155,000 people.
I don't know where they're going to put them.
And certainly 155,000 people can't get into the convention hall where President Trump is going to speak.
They're going to have to go through, you know, the security background checks and everything.
But the bottom line is a lot of people are coming to Dallas, Texas today and tomorrow for the NRA
and hoping that they get to hear former President Donald Trump speak here at the NRA
and talk about his plans to defend the Second Amendment if he's
reelected, if he's given a second term in the White House. So, Doc, let's start walking.
Okay.
Our cameraman, Eddie, is going to have to walk backwards for the next hour.
But we have a guide who's going to keep him from tripping over anything.
And we are in the press room right now.
This is where the news media gathers.
We're probably the only friendly news media that's here right now, pro-NRA.
Oh, okay.
So the board of directors member right there, this gentleman right here, right here.
Hey, sir, come over here.
Hey, you're on the board of directors of the NRA?
I'm Rick Wiles with True News.
You say your name is Rick Wiles?
Yeah, Wiles.
Hey, look at that. You must be an awesome guy.
Rick to Rick.
You've got to be awesome.
I've never met a Rick I didn't like.
That's right. And did you ever notice they're all awesome?
Always.
Always, always. So how long have you been on the board of directors?
I was elected to the board of directors this current term.
I was the 76th.
I was elected at the last annual meeting.
All right.
And why are you an NRA board member?
Why am I an NRA board member?
Well, as an outreach of what I do back home.
Where's home?
Home is, of course, Detroit, Michigan. And as a firearms instructor, I train people how
to take on a more active role in their personal protection. And as an outgrowth of that, I got
involved in community service. And one thing that I do back home is I conduct a free shooting event
for women, free of charge, that I do. We give them a free range safety briefing and a free shooting lesson. And I started this program approximately 13 years ago. And now we've trained 9,000 women over that time
period, over one weekend out of a year. This will be our 13th year. And we're seeking to train
1,700 women the last weekend in July. And as an outgrowth of those activities, members of the outreach
committee on the NRA, they reached out to me and they said that they liked what we were doing in
Detroit and that they would invite me to be on the outreach committee. And I've done that four terms.
And as a part of that, I got to learn a lot about the people in the organization,
the mission of the National Rifle Association.
And I felt that I could contribute and that I would like to help further the cause of freedom, firearm safety education.
And I decided to run for the board of directors last year.
And I was elected as the 76th.
I was just reelected this past mail-in election. So now I have a three-year term. Fantastic. And I'm eager as the 76th. I was just reelected this past mail-in election.
So now I have a three-year term.
Fantastic.
And I'm eager to serve the membership.
And my calling, my personal calling, is to empower nontraditional firearms owners,
which is back home that translates into women and minorities to become more involved in their personal protection
and learn how to safely operate firearms.
All right.
So, Rick, we're streaming coast to coast actually around the world.
Hi, America.
And we're broadcasting on International Shortwave Radio.
We're on X and Getter and Faith and Values and Rumble and a lot of places right now,
a lot of people watching and listening.
Why is it important that we defend the Second Amendment?
Yes. Why is it important that we support and defend the Second Amendment?
The Second Amendment was given to us by the Creator,
and of course enshrined in the Second Amendment of our Constitution,
is to give us our right that if the government ever turns tyrannical,
to keep them from taking our guns.
If the government ever seizes our guns,
they'll be free to subject us to whatever tyranny that they have in mind,
and freedom cannot exist without the ability to protect it.
And so, yes, it is, of course, paramount importance that we protect the Second Amendment.
Well, some people say the Second Amendment was there so we could have protection of sports shooting.
That's the only reason for it.
No. I mean, yes, it's fun to sports shoot. It covers that, right? But what was the original intent? there so we could have protection of sports shooting that's the only reason for it no i mean
yes it's fun it covers that right so what was the original intent the original intent is that if we
ever needed to overthrow a tyrannical government we would have the means to do so and of course
you hear some interesting arguments that we should just be relegated to muskets but no personally i
believe we should have whatever level of arms that the government
has so that we at least have a fighting chance.
I'm not looking forward to a
revolution. I'm just saying that
the forefathers had the foresight
to say it would be possible as a
last-ditch effort. Well, they were in a revolution.
They actually were
involved in a revolution. That's right. So they had some first-time
experience. And they actually had to throw off their government.
They envisioned that one day in the future, future generations might have to do that. Rick, I know
of a particular Republican congressman in Florida
who says that the Second Amendment has to be
modified, that it's not absolute.
Yeah, it is.
It means that everyone who is a citizen in this country has the right to keep in their arms.
And our state constitution back home in Michigan, it is not only for the defense of himself,
but it's also for the defense of our state back home in Michigan if we ever need to defend our state. We would need every abled bodied adult man, woman, even children if we had
to take up arms and defend our way of life. And I'll tell you back home in Detroit,
I don't know what you've heard of it, but it's a real tough town to be from. And unfortunately,
there are some very evil and selfish people who have no qualms about offering violence to their federal man to settle
their petty desires to victimize you. And yes, we need it to protect ourselves, our homes,
our families, our respective states, and the country if necessary. If a right can be modified
or altered, it's not a right. No, it becomes a privilege. And of course, only the more important
people would have access to it.
A right is something that is yours inherently as a matter of birth, and we happen to live,
and I'll tell you, the greatest country in the world,
and I wouldn't want to live any other place in America.
Amen.
You want to invite people to become a member of the NRA?
If you see this spot, please join us at the National Rifle Association.
Freedom lives here, and we need your support.
This is Mr. Rick Echter.
Rick, nice to meet you.
Thank you for having me on.
Nice to meet you, sir.
Bless you.
Take care, sir.
All right, we're going to walk into the exhibit hall, and there are thousands of people here.
I don't know how many exhibits.
Oh, hundreds of them.
Yeah, it's a large convention hall, so we've got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of exhibits,
gun manufacturers, ammo manufacturers, a lot of accessories, outdoor equipment, some fishing gear, a little bit of everything.
So we're going to maybe just kind of aim over here, and we'll just start walking down one of the main aisles here,
and we'll find somebody to talk to.
So, yeah, we'll make a right here, and we'll just start moving in and see what people have for us to look at.
And we're going to talk to some of the vendors here, talk to some of the people.
People are here from all over the country.
Yes, all over the world, really.
Yeah, people are coming in from Alaska, New Hampshire, Hawaii.
People are here from every state to be at this convention.
And it's just good to see so many God-fearing, patriotic Americans here
to support their Second Amendment constitutional right,
a right that's under attack every single day in this country,
a right that some people want to eliminate.
There's a governor, Governor Gavin Newsom, has proposed the 28th Amendment to the Constitution to modify the Second Amendment.
It's not a complete repeal.
It's a modification.
He has proposed the 28th Constitutional Amendment
to gut the Second Amendment.
Right.
And, you know, Gavin Newsom could someday be a presidential candidate.
A lot of Democrats would like him to be in the White House.
Maybe sooner than later.
Maybe sooner than later.
I wouldn't rule out Gavin Newsom being on the ticket this year.
And he is proposing a constitutional amendment that would just cut the legs out from under the Second Amendment.
And that doesn't make any sense because if you can do that to the second minute
you get to the first amendment to all of them right
and that's where we're going in this country
that the bill of rights was inserted over the opposition of people
it wasn't popular
those were amendments are he. There were patriots who
insisted on a Bill of Rights. They said, we can't endorse this Constitution until there
are certain rights in this Constitution. There was political debate at the Constitutional
Convention over whether to enshrine particular rights. The founding fathers had to put it in writing
to get the support in the states
to ratify the proposed Constitution.
They were still operating under the Articles of Confederation.
So there's always been people that want to get rid of our rights.
And what are the rights that are under attack right now? There's always been people that want to get rid of our rights.
And what are the rights that are under attack right now?
The Second Amendment, the right of free speech, the freedom of worship.
They want to eliminate these rights.
Yes.
And so we have to be literate about the Constitution, understand what it is, why we have it, what it means to us, and what happens if we lose it? Life changes.
Yes.
Because they're eroding our constitutional rights as we speak. If you've been deplatformed,
you've had your rights taken away.
That's right.
Do we have a... Sir?
How are you?
I'm doing good.
Great, great. And you're
fair, you're Dustin, Dustin Wallace. Dustin, who are you with? I'm with Faxon Firearms. Okay. I'm the director of sales and marketing.
Okay, so we're streaming coast-to-coast actually worldwide on multiple platforms right now. We are
super fans of the NRA and Second Amendment. You've got gazillions of people that love the NRA
and Second Amendment.
What does your company do?
So we are a manufacturer based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.
We have been in business as a firearms brand
for about 12 years.
And before that, our founders actually had to have
another machining business that did a lot of work for the war fighter and so on.
So when they decided that they wanted to have their own brand, both lifelong firearms enthusiasts,
a family-owned and operated brand, they came to market with our patented ARAC-21, which is behind us.
Is that your number one product?
That is our Halo product.
Let's look at it.
Why don't you show it?
Yeah, yeah.
Let's see it.
Are we on the right side? You're on the right side. That is our Halo product. Let's look at it. Why don't you show it? Yeah, yeah. Let's see it.
Are we on the right side?
You're on the right side.
So, yeah, this is the ARAC 21.
It is an AR-AK hybrid, long-stroke gas piston system.
This is actually what started the FACTS and Firearms brand.
And most people know us for our barrels, parts and accessories, things like that.
But it all spawned from the ARAC.
So you're taking the best of both worlds, the AR and the AK.
So the upper itself will drop on any mil-spec AR-15 lower,
but it's a non-reciprocating forward charging handle, long-stroke gas piston,
user-adjustable gas, it can shoot folded.
Obviously, we have it in a pistol configuration here with the pick rail back,
and you can do easy caliber swaps. So you drop the lower hand guard and you could switch between
5.56 and 7.62 and it's a firearm that is made to match to the consumer, match to the shooter,
not you having to get used to it. It's configurable to you. So ambidextrous controls, ambidextrous design and
ejection, and also very simple to upgrade your current AR-15. Okay, so Justin, the gun grabbers,
the gun control people, the news media, so forth, they would say you are a manufacturer of assault
weapons. Is that an assault weapon? No. No, it's not an assault weapon.
Well, there's a... Because there's no such thing as an assault weapon. That's basically the end-all
be-all of saying like, hey, you know, those terms and those things can... They're masters of words,
aren't they? You know, if you go, well, if you look back and it's Armalite rifle, you know,
all that sort of stuff. And I do think there's a lot of folks that just see black rifle, and all of a sudden it's scary.
But, you know, we are a family-owned business that, you know, believes in the rights of the Constitution.
We believe in Americans being able to arm themselves but also have sporting, also have competition.
You know, we do a lot of LEO work.
We outfit police departments.
And our original parent company did ordinance work for the DOD.
So, you know, we're a very patriotic brand, a very family-focused Americana brand.
What do you think about the, you know, there's a long-range and long-running campaign to ban ownership of the guns you manufacture well I I do
think that it's troublesome and it definitely gives other manufacturers
like us you know concern and it's something that we have to keep an eye on
constantly you know we have a lot of our dealers that will come around to these
shows and kind of talk to us and but I will say the nice thing is that there
are so many organizations like the NRA, like Gun Owners of America, like Civilian Marksmanship Program, all these other organizations that chose the camaraderie of this industry because they gather together to help take on things that are unconstitutional, take on things. So as scary as it could be, especially when, you know, you're a family-owned
business and, you know, we're about 70 folks, you know, all in our shop and everything.
And you worry about the well-being of not only the brand, but the end consumer and the people
that we employ. But there is some solace found knowing that there are organizations that,
even though a lot of us may be competitors around here,
you know, in the marketplace, when it comes to the rights of the American people
and when it comes to making sure that we're protected as an industry
and individuals are protected themselves, that we all really do bond together.
So there is a camaraderie here that I think is beneficial.
That's good.
For your company, how long have they been coming to the NRA conventions?
You know what?
I believe we've been coming ever since we started the brand in 2012.
Okay.
And then our founders, brothers Bob and Barry Faxon, long before that.
Okay, good.
Just as general consumers.
Hey, Dustin, thank you so much.
Our pleasure.
All right.
Good to talk to you.
Dustin Wallace with Faxon Firearms. All right. So thank you. Faxon. Bless you so much. Our pleasure. All right, good to talk to you. Dustin Wallace with Faxon Firearms.
All right.
So thank you.
Faxon.
Bless you, sir.
Take care.
Good work.
What's the website?
Faxonfirearms.com.
There you go.
That's simple enough.
We'll keep walking.
We've got a lot of people.
Doc, we could stream all day and never reach everybody that's here.
All right, who's this guy over here?
Hi, just a minute. Steve. Hey, Steve.'s this guy over here? Just some guy named Steve.
Hey, Steve.
Yes, sir.
I'm Rick Wiles from True News.
We're streaming right now.
Tell me about your company.
So my company is Medieval Industries,
and what we do is some very advanced new type of gear.
All of our grips are fully adjustable to any angle.
You just twist here, lock it, and it puts you into a natural ergonomic position.
We tell guys, go ahead, get relaxed, come into the rifle or pistol the way you like it,
come out, tighten it up, that's your position.
We also do the overwatch commander, which is currently being utilized by multiple SWAT teams and hunters.
This system is unique because it does what nothing else will do.
The stabilizer strap gives you the ability to lock in.
You create your own natural tripod, and then it can go up.
So this is attached to you.
It is just through this.
And the only reason is this strap creates more stability.
You go from here and drop it down to here.
So then you can go from there, tabletop, and then the triple thread goes into here.
Boom, you lock it in.
This thing will do what nothing else will do.
Then you can go to run run and gun the grips are fully
adjustable there's nothing like these on the market put you in natural position so that you're
able to be ergonomic a little light kit puts it here that's pretty much all of our product line how do people find this on the internet? Mid-Evil.com
This is cool, Rick.
This is really cool. Thank you, Steve.
Appreciate it.
We're going to
walk this way
and then we're going to head up to the
upper floor. I want to go this way.
Over here, guys.
This way?
I know, Eddie, over here, guys. This way? All right.
I know, Eddie, you're walking backwards,
but we're just going to keep going directly down this aisle,
and there's a lot of cool things to see as we go on.
Hey, thank you.
Eddie's got a walker helping him this way.
All right, we want to go down this way
we just want to walk
towards that cafe sign
that's where we're headed
Eddie if you had eyes in the back of your head
life would be much easier
but you're doing a great job
walking backwards
I'm not doing a good job
walking forward
I can't walk forward
I got to pick up the cable here.
There might be people watching today that they don't
even own a firearm. They're not familiar with weapons and stuff like that.
What does an NRA do for someone
that is considering purchasing a firearm?
What advantages are there to being a member even if you don't own a firearm yet?
Most of all, the protection of our right, our Second Amendment,
that is their number one duty and responsibility, I think,
because there are powerful forces that want to eliminate
the Second Amendment.
So you have to have a big, national, powerful organization to fight for the Second Amendment.
All right, so we're going to go to this direction over here, to the right, guys, okay?
And I'm just looking around, scouting, see what we've got.
And hey, here's a
yeah let's talk to these folks over here ruger okay now i own the ruger so this will be good yeah we'll see if we can find the star here that wants to uh wants to speak for the company
uh we're gonna have to move in here and find somebody.
Let's see.
We've got two men over here.
If we can get their attention.
All right.
We're not doing good here getting attention.
Let's just keep walking.
They'll, yeah, give me somebody to promote your company.
All right?
It's free advertising.
I'm actually just hungry.
All right.
So, you know what?
This might be a good time for an American Reserves commercial.
If Lee, is he able to run one right now?
All right. So run an American Reserves commercial.
We're waiting on a company representatives from Ruger to come and we'll be back in one minute.
As a true news listener, you know how crazy the world is right now. But are you and your family prepared for it?

invention k bailey hutchinson convention center downtown dallas texas
where the river
uh... exhibit and we asked if we could find somebody here
that knows something about the company and this guy came out and
his name is
chris colloy and he happens to be the president of the
company.
Chris, thank you for coming out.
Thank you fellas for being here.
Yeah.
So tell us, first of all, tell us about your company.
Well, Ruber was founded in 1949, so this is our 75th anniversary, which is pretty cool.
Founded by Alexander Sturm and Bill Ruber Sr.
And today we've got 1800 employees, primarily in our big factories in Prescott,
Arizona, Newport, New Hampshire, and Mayan in North Carolina. Fantastic. All made in America.
What's your top selling product this year? Well, right now, it's probably split between our LCP
pistol, our Gen 2 Ruger American centerfire rifle, and of course our Marlin product line. We bought
Marlin out of bankruptcy a few years ago,
and the Marlin brand and the Marlin line of guns has been super for us.
Fantastic.
How many years have you been coming to the company, to the NRA?
Well, I think the company's been displaying for probably since the first convention they had.
And, of course, Mr. Ruger was a big supporter of the NRA and we are as well.
So I've been in the industry now 35 years, been CEO here at Ruger for the last seven.
And again, we wouldn't miss it. Right. Now, tell me why it's important that we have a strong,
viable, prosperous NRA. Well, I know the NRA has been under a lot of pressure of late, a lot of bad PR,
et cetera. I understand that. There's a lot of changes that are likely coming and that need to
be made. But this entire industry and our citizens need a strong NRA to protect our Second Amendment
rights. They've always been at the forefront. I think they continue to speak loudly in support of Second Amendment
rights for all Americans, and I think we need to support them.
When you say Second Amendment rights, what does that entail for you?
Well for me, as a former military, so I think of all of our constitutional rights are important,
but as we like to say, a Second Amendment protects the other amendments. And the Second Amendment, you know, is our right to carry,
our right to protect our homes, our right to protect our liberties. It's something that
I think a lot of people forget that it's not just about the militia, it's about individual
rights.
Some politicians, media, you know, journalists, celebrities say that the Second Amendment can be modified.
It can be adjusted.
Is that possible?
I think the Second Amendment stands on its own with the words that are there.
People debate what does it mean.
It means what it says.
So I think there are certainly some things that need clarification.
I don't think the Second Amendment needs to be clarified.
By the way, Gavin Newsom, the governor of California,
has proposed the 28th Amendment to basically repeal the Second Amendment.
I hadn't heard that, but I don't think that's going to go anywhere in these United States.
At least I hope not.
Chris, thank you so much.
Appreciate you giving your time.
Thank you, sir.
Chris Colloy, Ruger, president of the company.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you, fellas.
All right.
We're going to head this direction.
And then when we come back, I want to stop over, visit one of his competitors, Glock.
And there's a lot of manufacturers here.
And, again, we could be here for hours just talking to vendors.
It is what we're going to do when we find a walkway. We're going to head up the steps so that Eddie is going to be to your left eventually as we wind our way.
The crown's getting a little bit thicker in here.
We've been here for a couple hours.
Right.
It's getting wall to wall now.
Yeah, it's getting a little bit more difficult to walk through the lines.
And we just want to keep going directly.
The aisle that we're in, it's heading us to the steps, and we will be able to go up into the second level, kind of the mezzanine here of the convention hall.
This is my first time at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
Is it your first time at the NRA convention, too?
Yes, first time at the NRA, yes.
One of those things I always wanted to attend, just never got around to doing it.
When the opportunity came up for us to go, said yes sir, we're going to do it, we're going to go.
So we'll stop here. Eddie, if you can kind of just pan here. So this is the area that we've been walking through. Give you an idea of the size of the exhibit area and the number of people who are here.
We're going up on a second level, mezzanine level. And we're going, we're kind of like salmon, Doc, right now. I feel like a salmon.
We're going upstream.
Now, up here on the second level, there's a number of brand name manufacturers here.
Some of these names you'll quickly recognize.
Savage, Weatherby, others.
And one in particular that we're headed to here yeah is the six hour folks here just around
the corner here we're kind of moving into a heavy audio zone right we might want to go this direction
so we don't have to shout over the music and and background noise so we're uh we're going to head
this way we'll find somebody in here to talk. Right now we're
at Savage. And there might be somebody here from the company that wants to speak. Let's
walk over here. Let's see who we can find. This guy here looks like he's from the company.
Sir, are you with Savage? You're not? Okay. All right. Don't see anybody from the company. Sir, are you with Savage? You're not? Okay. All right. All right. Don't
see anybody from the company right now. Everybody's busy. That's a good sign. Yeah. That's what
you're supposed to do here. The noise is coming from SIG. It's where I wanted to go.
Let's walk down.
We'll do a spin by Sieg.
We'll find out what all the noise is about.
You know what surprises me?
How many kids are here.
Yeah.
A lot of kids here.
I think that's a good sign. A lot of conventions don't allow children to come in. All right, so this is the Sig Sauer booth.
All right, we're going to try to find somebody from Sig. Maybe we can get somebody to come over
here so we're not in the crowd. Now SIG has probably got
the biggest booth here up on the second floor. So Eddie if you can pan the SIG
exhibit area so our audience can see what we're seeing right now. Very large
impressive exhibit booth here by SIG. And a lot of people here.
A lot of activity.
People looking at the products, getting information.
And we'll step over here just a little bit.
Get out of the way of the traffic. We're trying to, as we're talking, we're looking for somebody to snag and come over and talk
to us.
So any hope that we can find a SIG person?
All right.
You did great with Ruger.
You got the president of the company.
Now we want the chairman of the board of sig all right another
thing not only are a lot of kids here i see a lot of people a lot of law enforcement here yes in
uniform here yes they're attending yes they're attending they're here and they're here representing
their sheriff's office their police department because, because they're here to get the products that they need for their law enforcement agency.
So, again, it's a unique convention to be in.
It's all American.
It's from the heartland of America.
It is really the average American is who is here.
Just hardworking, taxpaying, God-fearing, patriotic Americans are here on this convention floor.
And we're probably the only two guys here in sport coach.
Yes, I think we are, except for Chris with Ruger.
Yes, yes, he's president of the company.
Okay.
We're supposed to have a spokesman here in the next few seconds.
All right.
We're waiting.
We've got a SIG spokesman coming over to us in just a few seconds here.
Now, Rick, I don't know who else is broadcasting live from the NRA right now.
I don't know if anybody is.
I don't know.
I've not seen any podcasters here. I've not't know. I've not seen any podcasters here.
I've not seen anybody.
I've not seen any camera crews walking around.
I've not seen anyone giving respect and attention to the NRA
like we are doing right now.
Right.
And backing them, supporting them, giving their vendors free publicity.
Yes.
This is free publicity for every vendor here that we're talking to because we want to show
our support to the NRA.
It's a good organization.
They've been under attack by far left-wing political zealots who really are communists.
A lot of them are hardcore Marxist communists.
And they want the Second Amendment destroyed. They can't take this country down as long as
the people are armed. And so they've got to get rid of the Second Amendment so that their
communist revolution can succeed someday. And I don't think they ever thought the Second Amendment would stand as long as it stood.
But it has.
It has.
And the opposition is strong.
So, anyhow, do we have anybody coming?
All right.
So if you're just tuning in, if you just went to True News or Faith and Values or Getter or X,
Doc and I are at the annual convention of the National Rifle Association.
We're in Dallas, Texas at the K. Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
We're standing in front of the exhibit of SIG, and we're waiting on a company representative to come over and tell us about this great company and how they contribute to the defense of the Second Amendment right in our Constitution and the products that they offer and what they can do for you.
So, hey, there you are.
I'm Rick.
This is Doc.
Mike.
We're the Mike.
Thank you, Doc.
We're streaming right now coast to coast.
We've got people all over the country, indeed all over the world that are watching this
live real time.
First of all, I want to talk to you about your company.
Everybody knows this company.
Everybody.
Everybody.
All right.
Why does everybody know about it?
Well, SIG as a company has been around since 1751.
When?
1751.
Started as a wagon company in Switzerland.
SIG Sauer came together in the 1970s.
We've been in America, headquartered in America since about 2004.
Now we're a global company, but headquarters is still in Newington, New Hampshire.
So we've been winning contracts for the U.S. Army, DOD, Navy SEALs back in the 80s.
So that's why everybody knows SIGS now.
Yes.
And so to the average American who's watching us right now, what does SIG offer to them?
So all of our products that we make for the military outside of the Velfed machine guns, we offer commercially as well. So we're a very pro-2A
company. Like I said, we're headquartered in America now. We're not a European company anymore.
And if we make it, you can buy it. And that's why I think people love us.
All right. So now, how important is the NRA to SIG?
Very important.
Actually, so when SIG's hour opened their first headquarters in the United States,
they were in the same building as the NRA down in Virginia.
We've since moved to New Hampshire and have our own global headquarters up there,
but we've been working with the NRA since the beginning in the United States,
since SIG's hour has been in the United States.
And you mentioned Second Amendment.
How important is it for Americans to understand the Second Amendment and defend it?
It's the most important.
Without the Second Amendment, you can't defend your freedom of speech.
Without the Second Amendment, you can't defend any of your other freedoms that you have.
So the Second Amendment is, in my opinion, the most important.
Do you think there are people in America that want to get rid of the Second Amendment because they want to get rid of the
other rights? I think they do. I don't think that that's a conscious thought for many of them.
But yes, they're either afraid of something and it's about fear, right? And they want to
control what they're afraid of. So we use the Second Amendment to control our fear, right? And they want to control what they're afraid of. So, uh, you know, we use
the second amendment to, to control our fears, right? And they want to use the laws, the government
to, to control what they're afraid of. And that's having to take responsibility, uh, for their,
for their freedom. So, Hey, thank you so much. Appreciate you for giving us time.
Is it a, has it been, I know this is the opening day. Has it been good so far?
It's been great. We've, uh, we've been busy all day. We know this is the opening day. Has it been good so far? It's been great.
We've been busy all day.
We've had presentations going all day, and we're going to keep doing it all weekend.
All right.
Take care, man.
Thank you, Mike.
All right.
We're going to walk this direction.
So Eddie's going to start walking backwards again.
Doc, do you want to pick up your...
I don't want to see you fall down either.
All right. So, obviously, six hours making most of the noise here in the convention hall.
But the noise is picking up on the floor.
Folks, this is what we encounter every time we go on.
Every trade show, there's noise and activity.
I love trade shows.
I probably would go to a trade show every week if I could.
All right, we're going around.
Okay, we're going to make.
Yeah, I want to go to Henry.
Okay.
One of my favorite companies, Henry.
Henry USA.
We've got to stop at Henry.
That's another fantastic manufacturer of firearms.
I love their sign, made in America or not made at all.
Yes.
That's the slogan of Henry.
So we'll find somebody here.
Sir, we need somebody from Henry that would like to talk about the company and promote it and take advantage of free publicity.
I'm Rick Wiles.
I'm Andy Wickstrom.
You're the president?
Yes, sir.
Well, is there anybody higher that we could talk to?
He's in Europe.
Andy, thank you.
No, I order his travel.
No, thank you.
We're honored to have you here.
This is true news.
We're streaming live right now
across America literally around the world and
We are big supporters the NRA and Second Amendment
first of all, I
Mean, I'm very familiar with Henry a lot of our viewers are but for those who aren't tell us about Henry
Henry repeating arms course, we're known mostly for our lever action
We are the leading manufacturer of lever actions.
Our motto is made America or not made at all.
Where are they made?
We have two plants in Wisconsin, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and Bayonne, New Jersey.
Three locations, over 800 employees.
You know, we take a lot of pride in what we do. All our employees, there's a lot of them here
right now, and we're very proud of what we do. We had a great night last night at the NRA Foundation
where we had Major General Patrick Brady with us on stage, and that was a humbling experience
always to be around guys like that.
What's your number one selling product this year?
We're still making a lot of rimfire.
We make more rimfire than anything.
We're known for the Golden Boy.
We have a lot of different things we can do with the Golden Boy.
We have some tribute models.
We have different colors and finishes and different wood options, barrel options.
So we've taken that. It's still the most popular thing at Henry.
But our classic levers and our center fires, there's a lot of examples of those here also.
Now, how long has Henry been coming to NRA meetings?
Yeah, so longer than I've been at Henry.
So we make a commitment to NRA.
Like I said, we do a lot with NRA with shooting sports and different things like that
and firearm responsibility.
They're great to work with for us.
It's been a great partnership.
We've been doing the NRA Foundation banquet for a lot of years.
This booth has evolved.
It's gotten a little bigger over the years, and we're happy about that.
But, yeah, it's been a great partnership with NRA,
and we love coming here and talking to all our customers.
Okay, we're asking every vendor,
why is it important for the people watching us to know, understand,
and defend the Second Amendment?
Yeah, so, you know, we can see it's a cliche to say Second Amendment these days,
but, you know, with another election cycle coming, it can't be more important.
You know, defending every inch is how we maintain our rights at all.
I mean, we can see examples of things changing in other ways,
like whether it be taxing or making availability harder and harder.
You know, this is the time to stand our ground. Are you aware Governor Newsom in California has proposed
the 28th Amendment to basically gut
the 2nd Amendment? Yeah. Insane. What chances
do you think it has to pass?
You know, I know I'd hate to even say what a lot of people
say to me, but there's a reason why say what a lot of people say to me,
but there's a reason why there's a lot of guns out there.
These people aren't going to give them up.
So I think he's proud of his mind.
That'll be the final word.
I don't think there's anything better you could say.
Thank you so much.
All right, appreciate it.
Andy Wickstrom, president of Henry Reedating Arms. The president of Henry.
We're on a roll here.
Two CEOs already.
It's doing great.
I wasn't even expecting it, Doc.
That was the president of Henry Repeating Arms.
Talk to presidents of corporations.
But, hey, that also tells you the importance of this convention that the highest level corporate officials attend yes
because usually presidents and ceos don't show up at trade shows that's true we've been doing
enough of that so they they stay home in the corporate office but these guys are coming here
because it means that much to them this is uh this is their bread and butter. So great to talk to the president of two companies
so far. Ruger and Henry. Hi, we're walking over here. Let's see, what do we got coming
up here? I'm looking for different products that may be a little bit different than anything that we've seen so far?
Okay. I just got noticed. We only have 10 minutes remaining. Wow. This is going by so fast.
We haven't even, we barely have gotten a few hundred feet in this convention,
and we're already out of time.
We've got 10 minutes remaining.
All right, I see Maxim is here.
I'm looking for the various companies that maybe our customers might recommend.
Let's try, hey, let's go back this way.
Let's talk to Maxim.
Let's see if the president of maxim is here okay we'll see if we can find anybody um
so let's see if we can find a representative of maxim and we'll do an interview from this place. Again, Eddie, if you can just kind of pan the camera around
that people see where we've been walking, what we've been seeing.
Not just gun manufacturers here.
Oh, no. A lot of accessories.
Yes.
A lot of outdoor equipment.
Yes.
Oh, I know something I want to see before we run out of time. I want to go down to Remington.
That was down
on the first floor, wasn't it? Yes, it was. Yeah. We got to finish up with Remington,
okay? Because they've got some cool things there at their display. I think our audience
would like to see it. But in addition to... Hey. Hey there. How are you doing? I'm doing
good. I'm Rick. Hey, I'm Tim. Hi, Tim. Nice to meet you.
How are you?
Casey, our marketing director.
Hey, Casey. Nice to meet you.
This is True News. Hey, Casey.
Nice to meet you.
This is True News. We're streaming live coast to coast, actually around the world.
A lot of people watching right now.
We are big fans of the NRA and the Second Amendment, and we're here.
We're news media that loves the NRA.
Yep.
All right? There is such a creature.
Absolutely.
Okay?
Sure enough.
So we wanted to give the NRA convention exhibitors free advertising, free opportunity to talk to our audience.
So talk to us about Maxim.
What is the company?
What do you do?
Hey, how are you going, guys?
Again, I'm Tim Sobrady with Maxim Defense.
We're based out of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
We make braces and stocks.
That's what people have known us for about 10 years.
But we also make our PDXs, 5.5-inch AR, all the way up to large DMR, big bore rifles.
We also have our suppressor line.
We make suppressors and everything from.22 to a.240 Bravo belt-fed machine gun suppressor
and everything in the middle.
Our newest one is our—
How do you need a suppressor on a machine gun?
Well, you know, that suppressor is hearing-safe, and you can have your support by fire line talking to the weapons squad leader,
and he can talk to his gun team leaders, no problem.
We have our.338 Lapua that just came out for our PRS suppressor line.
It's fantastic.
All of our suppressors are end-user serviceable with common tools,
so they can be assembled for cleaning and service, which we recommend you do.
So we didn't really reinvent the wheel. We just made it exceptionally round.
How long has the company been in business?
Ten years.
Okay. And have you been coming to the convention every year?
Yep. We've been doing NRA. We've been doing SHOT Show.
This is kind of our gig, and we love being here.
We love meeting all the folks that get to come out and see us.
This is the best show of the year.
All right.
And Tracy, right?
Casey.
Casey.
And you are marketing director?
Yes.
All right.
How long have you worked for Maxim?
About seven months.
Oh, you're new.
Yes.
Okay.
You're a newbie.
Yes.
This is your first NRA?
My first NRA.
Yeah.
What brought you to Maxim?
Why?
I knew some people that worked in the company, and it just all worked out, and and they needed some marketing and that's my gig, so here I am.
So what's your impression right now of your first day here at the NRA?
It's incredible.
It is.
It's incredible, yeah.
It's going to be really busy tomorrow with President Trump here.
That's what I hear.
We're hearing that attendance, they're expecting 155,000.
Oh, I can imagine.
Wow.
We were fortunate to meet the President's son at SHOT Show, both of his
sons at SHOT Show last year and we heard that the president was gonna be here for
this and man it would be really great to see them. Yeah it's it'll be a
it'll be a great event tomorrow. One last question, why is it important that we
defend the Second Amendment?
Well, the Second Amendment, you don't have a First Amendment or a Third Amendment, Fourth,
Fifth, Seventh or Eighth without a Second Amendment. Second Amendment rights, gun rights
are everybody's rights. Oppressed people that are armed are hard to oppress, right? Whether
that's anybody in any one of the marginalized communities in the United States or just some
farmer out in Nebraska, right? Like, you don't have a future in this country if you don't have the ability to defend it with arms.
The Second Amendment is there to keep tyrants in check,
and it's not there to regulate what we are not allowed to have, right?
You know who Governor Gavin Newsom is in California?
Unfortunately, I'm a California native.
Oh, are you? Okay.
I'm behind enemy lines right now, yeah.
Where are you at in California?
Bakersfield.
Oh, okay.
Not a bad spot, actually.
Oh, I know Bakersfield.
Bakersfield's great, honestly.
Bakersfield's amazing.
Oh, no.
Bakersfield's old, man.
We've got Cowboys.
We've got Romeo.
Absolutely.
I've been to Bakersfield.
It's great.
It's been a long time ago.
But, yeah, and some great country music came out.
Oh, Roe Haggard.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah. We've got Dwightight Yoakam's always over out there.
Bakersfield Sound is its own thing.
That's right.
So with that, your support for the Second Amendment.
Oh, I started to talk to you about Governor Gavin Newsom talking about Bakersfield. So Governor Newsom is touting the adoption of a constitutional amendment to gut the Second Amendment.
I know. It's really cute.
If you would have taken an eighth grade civics class, you'd find out that's not how the law in this country works.
That's really nice for him to raise campaign money, but that's not how the law is in this country.
But technically, the states could ratify. it's the 28th Amendment, and it basically
repeals the 2nd Amendment.
Well, I would tell everybody to calm down if they can just think about it from this
perspective.
The gun rights that we have in this country right now have never been this good, and they're
only getting better.
We are continuously winning in courts against California's lawsuits, the ETFs injunctions, or a movement on the pistol braces that we participated in.
If you consider that there are more constitutional carry states now than there ever has been, you're not going to get three-fifths of that group to agree to an injunction.
That's a good point.
I agree.
I agree.
We've got to run.
Thank you so much.
All right.
Thanks, Tim. Take care. Bye. Thanks, Casey. Appreciate it. All right. We're down to just a good point. I agree. I agree. We've got to run. Thank you so much. All right. Thanks, Tim.
Take care.
Bye.
Thanks, Casey.
Appreciate it.
All right.
We're down to just a few minutes.
We're going to try to get down to the first floor again to Remington.
I think we only have about five minutes remaining.
So, you know, the message is the same.
Everybody we're talking to is saying the same thing.
We have to defend the Second Amendment.
No Second Amendment, no other amendments, no rights, no constitutional rights if the Second Amendment is weakened, altered, changed, removed, eliminated.
We can't allow it to happen. And there are basically two organizations nationally, the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America,
that are leading the fight to defend our constitutional right.
And without those two organizations, we would be in trouble, Doc.
If they take them down, we're in trouble.
And there are hardcore leftists who are working to take them down legally.
They're using lawfare, which is, it's warfare using lawyers and courts to take down a political enemy, a political opponent.
And that's what they're doing to President Trump.
It's lawfare.
Yes. opponent and that's what they're doing to president trump it's it's lawfare yes and if you um if you
go up against them they start looking for some thing that some tiny infraction yes that they
can get in and get a conviction on you and put you out of business put you in jail and that's
where they that's what they have attempted to do right the NRA. Yes, to drive them into bankruptcy, drive them into shutting their doors and walking away.
And they've not succeeded in it.
They have fired a couple of big torpedoes at the NRA, but the NRA has survived.
Yes. And they survived because there are so many millions of people who are members of the NRA that it's just not going to go away.
So, all right, we all three made it down the steps without tripping over cords.
Eddie's walking backwards, carrying a camera going down the steps.
This is the first time we've done it this way, folks.
Eddie's getting employee training on the spot, okay?
He's never done this before, but he's doing an awesome job right now.
Hey, we are at Remington.
All right. So, I'm Rick. Joel Hodgson.
Joel, this is Don. How are you, Don? Joel from Remington. We're in the last few minutes.
This is True News from Vero Beach, Florida.
Great.
We're streaming live.
And I came by here earlier and I said, wow, I've got to stop by Remington.
Tell us about, what is this, a truck wagon?
What do you got here?
We've got lots of great licensed products under the Remington brand.
So at Remington Ammunition, we're back.
We're making ammo 24-7.
And behind us here, we've got Remington Safe.
We've got our Remington Pursuit ATV. And then the snow trailer you're back. We're making ammo 24-7 and behind us here. We've got Remington safe Got our Remington pursuit ATV and then the snow trailer you're referencing. Can we walk over Eddie?
Can we walk over to the trailer so we can we're down to just a few minutes here?
So guys when you're out hunting or shooting in the backcountry on a fishing trip, whatever you're doing
You need to be able to take your gear with you
So this snow trailer behind me has storage for your firearms, for your ammunition,
your coolers, your clothes, whatever it is.
And you can see as well, pop-up tent so you can stay the night.
So it's just a one-stop pull-behind trailer to really be your home for the week or for the trip.
And what are you pulling it with?
So right here we have a...
Can you get Eddie? Come on up, Eddie.
Get the lights and camera here on this vehicle. This is our Pursuit ATV, so another Remington licensed product. Just a great four-wheel drive vehicle that's perfect for your back 40 or for a longer trip hauling a trailer like this. So good product. All right. And where, what dealers, I can't name all the dealers, but where could we find something like this? So both these products are brand new, and they're coming out here this summer and this fall.
So go to your local ATV dealer.
Check out the Heisun ATVs and Snowtailer as well.
They're coming into market now.
So these are kind of the first of its kind.
They're not on the market yet.
They're brand new.
So if I stayed here another half hour, could we do a trade where you just give me one of these?
I wish. I'd have to get one myself.
All right. We'll have to haul it back home. We take care of it. Because we'll sell a bunch of
these for you, okay? Well, we got an audience that would love to have these. Well, check it out. It's
a cool, cool trailer, and we're happy to have it here. When will they be in dealerships? They should
be here this summer and this fall, available. They're going to be great products. I'm telling you right now.
This is going to be a hot seller.
We're excited about it.
Yeah.
All right.
I think we're down to our last minute.
I don't know if anybody can do a countdown.
I can't.
So we're kind of guessing here at our time.
We got one minute.
One minute. So we are wrapping up our...
You sure you don't want to do a trade?
I got a minute left. You want to do a trade? I got a minute left.
You want to do a trade?
All right.
All right.
Okay.
We'll get him next year.
Okay.
So anyhow, we are here at the National Rifle Association Convention 2024 here in Dallas, Texas.
And Rick, it's an eye-opening experience for me.
Yeah.
It's great.
This is a great community of people.
They're good people here.
You know what? They're just my community of people. They're good people here. You know what?
They're just my kind of people. They're good people. These people are, this is the heart of
America. These are good people here. And I'm so tired of the left trashing the members of the NRA.
These are good American citizens who traveled from all 50 states to be here at this convention. Tomorrow, President
Donald Trump will speak to this convention. They're expecting a massive crowd. We won't be
here because I have to be back in Florida flying back tonight. Got to go. Thank you for watching

What he's teaching here is that the love for Jesus should surpass the natural affections for
father or mother, sisters and brothers, children. No earthly relationship should take precedence
over one's love for Jesus.
And those who prioritize earthly human relationships
over their love, devotion, obedience,
commitment to Jesus are declared unworthy of being his disciples
right that's the part that's the part they say is hard the hard part yes hard to understand
no it's not hard to understand he meant exactly what he said.
You know, this is not the only time he said it in Matthew.
Luke recorded it.
Luke 14, 26.
If any man come to me and hate not his father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
The King James translators used strong English language to convey the meaning of the Greek
words.
We have a different, in our modern day, we have a different understanding of the word
hate.
Hate should be interpreted as love more.
It means giving higher priority to a relative, a family member over Jesus.
Hate doesn't imply malice or vicious attitudes, right?
Behavior towards somebody.
You could paraphrase it like this.
If any man comes to me and loves his father and mother,
his wife, his children, his brothers and sisters.
Yes, even his own life more than he loves me.
Makes them a higher priority than loving and obeying me.
He cannot be my disciple.
It's just that simple.
I mean, it's not complicated.
No.
Nope.
It's only complicated if you don't want to accept it.
Yes.
There's the conflict in people's hearts.
That's the hard saying part of it.
Yes.
Because he's demanding that you make a choice.
Who do you love the most?
He's not willing to accept that you love.
Obviously, you can't love him less than you love a relative, a mother, father, child.
But he's not even willing to accept being loved the same way.
Yes.
You have to love him more than you love your spouse,
more than you love your parents,
more than you love your children.
That's where people stumble.
And that's not taught from the pulpit either, Rick.
No.
I think what's taught is that, well, you know, love God as much as you love your family.
That's basically it. Yeah.
He says, you've got to love me more than you love your family.
Jesus uses the family unit for this teaching because the deepest most meaningful emotional
feelings that we have as humans is for our family and so he to teach this principle about
loving him the most he he uses the family unit so if the I give you a
practical application if the Spirit of God calls you or your spouse to work for his kingdom,
and you do not go, you do not obey, you do not follow the instruction,
you resist the instruction,
because obedience would mean separation from family members that you dearly love.
Jesus said you're not worthy to be called a disciple that happens countless times every day yes people call by God and
they don't go or they delay yes because somebody in the family is opposed now that doesn't mean
that you don't take into consideration what your family says and the things
that they add to it God placed you with but there comes a place and time where
you have to say yes to Jesus and and no to family that's that's a
difficult thing to uh to compel people to adhere to because they even in the modern evangelical
church today there's a big emphasis on family right i mean why do people pick why do people
pick a church what are the reasons for people picking a church?
They'll say, well, do they have a good kids program? Do they have a good kids church?
Is there stuff for the whole family? Is there in North America, cater to the needs of family,
which isn't a bad thing, but it becomes, at times, in my opinion, this is my opinion only,
it becomes a priority over following after Christ. It becomes the pursuit of trying to please
family members and cater
church to everything else.
We miss out on the opportunity to follow
after Christ.
That's just my opinion.
A lot of churches, big churches
have become lodges.
Wow.
I wasn't
even going that far, but you're right.
Isn't that what they are?
Yeah, it's like a moose lodge or an eagle's lodge.
Yes, without the booze.
Wow. Jesus is not telling us that we must be absent of natural affections.
He's teaching the proper order of affections.
He's saying that he must be the object of your first love.
And all other loves should align with that priority.
He's instructing us to bring natural affection in line with God's commandments.
That our primary loyalty is to him.
Doc, I'm really having a difficult time with my throat today. Well, in the passage here, continuing on,
it's saying that there's that comparison of loyalty to Christ.
In this passage, once once again and remind everybody christ has talked about
persecution uh in the passage leading up to this and so we're continuing that discussion about
persecution and really isn't the greatest persecution any believer encounters usually
comes from the most intimate relationships that we have, whether it's
father and mother, son or daughter, spouses. And so the biggest challenge for most believers
isn't that outside persecution so much, but the inside persecution that comes from the people that we care about the most.
And so Jesus is saying, you know, this is where the persecution really, really gets to it.
And you have to make a decision when that persecution comes.
Who are you going to love?
Are you going to follow after what your family family is saying what your family is pressuring
you to do are they threatening to disown you are they threatening to cut you off from the
will whatever it might be is that a higher priority for you than following after me
that's at the very heart of it right there and And these things are painful. They're gut-wrenching.
He's saying that all affections, all relationships, all devotions, all loyalties
must be subordinated to Christ. Listen to me. He will not share first place in your heart and mind with anybody else he will
not share whoever in your family you love the most you have to love Christ even more than that person. Yes.
He will not share first place with anybody.
And I would challenge anyone right now that's online with us live or listening at a different time. I challenge anyone out there right now to name me a ministry or a major church that teaches this concept.
It just simply is not taught. Loyalty, severe loyalty to Christ, it just simply is not taught.
And yet Christ says it's everything. You cannot be my disciple. You cannot be my disciple unless you do these things. And so, unless Christ
is number one, unless he is the most extreme devotion that you have in your life, Christ
himself is saying, you do not qualify for discipleship. And that's a hard saying.
Yes.
Doc, what is taught in many churches in America?
I don't know the rest of the world.
I just know here in this country.
Let's say
somebody has a call of God
on their life.
Has prayed about it for a long time knows
that he or she is to go into ministry knows the steps he or she is to take
maybe it involves moving to another location or going to seminary or even if
a missionary going to another country and this person has submitted to christ
and said i will follow you and then the family opposition rises up it can be a possessive parent yes parents who are possessive will not let
a child go an adult child some of you may be dealing with a possessive mother father it's usually the mother yes usually the the father is usually opposed to maybe the choice of
your calling or something along that line but it won't stand in your way right but the mom that
you're her baby you're it you're you're the apple of her eye whether it's your mom
grandma whoever raised you uh and she doesn't want to let you go and it could be
um the mom of the spouse of the person who's called yes that's that's a problem one too, Rick.
Yes. So it could be a mother-in-law who's standing in the way
and causing tremendous emotional pain, division, strife, hindrances,
messing up God's plan for somebody's life and that person has submitted
to christ and said i'll go but there's a family member saying i won't let you go right
and so the opposition is not always outright defiant, standing in your way.
Sometimes it's pulling on the heartstrings.
I'm probably going to die if you move away.
What will happen to me if I get sick and you're not here?
You're not going to take my grandkids away from me?
Right.
When will I see my grandchildren?
These are emotional heartstrings that people will pull to manipulate.
Possessive people are manipulators
possessive people will use every emotional manipulation tactic that they can use yes
to get what we want sometimes sometimes they're angry if that doesn't work, they start crying. They use different tactics to manipulate
your emotions. And when that person is somebody that you deeply love, or your spouse deeply
loves, and that person's manipulations, emotional manipulations, hinders you from obeying Christ.
This is where you have to make the decision.
And this is where families can split apart.
And Jesus says, your own worst enemies will be in your house.
That's a tough thing, Rick.
That really is.
Yeah, so I started to say
about American churches,
at least in the evangelical world,
Doc, I think the standard teaching
is if there was a,
let's say a husband and wife,
and there's conflict over doing something God commanded one of them to do.
I think if they went for pastoral counseling, the most likely advice would be,
well, if there's conflict, it means it isn't God's time yet.
Right.
Yeah, I can hear those words.
They would say to the spouse who has agreed to serve God, you need to wait until your spouse has heard from the Lord.
Yes.
I don't agree with that philosophy at all
and the spouse that has not from heard from the lord privately it's not that person not going to tell that pastor i am never going to hear i have no plans whatsoever in doing this i'm only sitting here to be sweet
and lovable right now to to make you believe that i want to hear the lord's voice
but really my heart i'm rebellious and i i don't want to hear it yeah deep in my heart i want you to tell the person that's called that they're not
called or they have to wait and then the waiting turns into years
and years turn into a decade
and then the person who was called forgets that he or she was called and years turn into a decade.
And then the person who was called forgets that he or she was called.
Yes.
So discipleship demands a level of sacrifice
where even though the disciple continues to love his or her family,
they may need to act in a way that seems contrary to that love.
Dr. James Dobson taught tough love.
Dr. Dobson, a psychologist, said,
sometimes when you love somebody, you have to love them toughly.
You got to put some demands on them.
Sometimes you got to walk away.
Sometimes you have to say to a rebellious teenager that is of adult age now,
there's the door.
That's hard.
It's difficult.
So when it comes to obeying Christ,
sometimes we have to act in ways that seem contrary
to the love that we have in our heart for our family.
And that could mean distancing yourself from family members
for the sake of obeying Christ none of this is
easy no and that's the reason most pastors don't want to touch it because
it's not easy so a disciple might have to act as though they didn't love their family
and yet at the same time maintain a proper christian love and respect for their family
right here's here's go ahead doc no it's the same but this is the earmark of discipleship
that there is a priority in the believer's life and there was a question that popped up here on
chadlow wallow can someone be be saved without being a disciple i don't believe you can knowing
what the scripture says that you have to follow in discipleship.
Once you understand that every one of us are called to be disciples,
we may not all be called to be preachers, teachers, evangelists, whatever,
but we are all called to be disciples.
And this is, you know, Jesus makes it very clear,
especially in the Luke 12 passage,
unless you do these things, you cannot be my disciple.
You have to hate father and mother.
You have to take up your cross.
Those are the qualifications for discipleship.
He doesn't have two classes of membership.
That's right.
Okay, so this conflict, let's say it's mom.
And it could be a grandma.
Grandmas are good at manipulating people. Oh my goodness.
That's an art form.
My grandmother could manipulate me so easy, all she had to do was start crying.
That was it. i'm done you can't hurt grandpa no
no you make your grandmother cry what kind of creep were you animal When we were very young, we got married, you know, I was 20, Susan was 18.
And my grandmother would call us and say, I made dinner for you.
Well, we lived, you know, 15 miles away, Doc.
You made dinner for us us I can't come and she start crying on the phone but I I made this all right I cooked this meal for you well what do you think we did we got in the car and we drove that's right all right it's sweet that she made a meal for me but she was using emotional
manipulation on me it worked and it worked
of course it worked worked so the the Ten Commandments tell us that we must honor our father and our
mother and yet to be a disciple of Christ we may have to be at odds with our father and mother
to the point that they're not speaking to you.
And that may seem at first glance to be opposed to each other,
but to me, the greatest honor that I could ever show
my father and mother or my elders in my life, is to follow Christ.
That's the greatest honor I could show to them.
Because it shows my devotion and loyalty that even though I love them, there's a higher love in my life.
That's how I best honor my father and mother. It's not being in rebellion
against them or anything like that. It's a matter of there's a priority of love in my life. I must
follow Christ. That must be the theme that runs in our hearts. I must follow Christ. It's not
I should follow Christ. I might follow Christ. I would follow
Christ if these things happen. No, I must follow him in spite of family, in spite of grandma,
in spite of everything. I must follow him. So, doctor, there's this balance.
A relative may be very upset with you because of something you're doing to obey God.
And there's hurt feelings, sharp words, division, strife, threats.
You know, if crying doesn't work, threats work. so yet at the same time if it's a parent you're you're commanded to to honor that parent
and so you have there's this balance that you have to have in your heart
that you honor the parent who is upset, and yet you obey the Lord.
And if you're keeping your heart right and the other person isn't,
you don't own that problem.
Yes.
So maintaining that proper love and respect is difficult when one or more family family may necessitate the abandonment, the sacrifice of close relationships.
That's where this really becomes extremely painful when it's pushed to the point that you have to sever relationships so that you can obey Christ yes so Jesus may test your commitment to him.
He's always testing.
He never tempts.
He tests.
He's always testing.
Never tempting.
He's testing to see where he stands in your life.
Don't we do that in our human relationships?
Don't we test to see, does that person love me?
You want to be affirmed that you're loved.
So Jesus tests us.
He asserts his own authority.
He says that love for him, allegiance is due to him at the highest order,
surpasses all human relationships. relationships if he reaffirms his status as a divine figure deserving unparalleled
devotion loving obeying serving Christ takes precedence over the most natural
and fundamental human relationships.
The love for Christ must surpass all earthly affections,
including love for parents, brothers, sisters, spouses, and your children.
How can you tell a mom she must love somebody else more than she loves her children but that's what Jesus says if the children get in the way of serving Christ mom now I'm not talking about abandoning underage children.
But there are many times when somebody is, let's say, you know one of the one of the spouses is called to a for
mission and the other spouse says I can't go I can't leave our kids I just
can't do it they're adult age they're married they have their own lives. I know, but I can't leave.
You're saying that these
children are more important than
Christ. Yes.
I can't leave because of the grandkids.
Your grandkids are more
important than Christ.
Yes.
I can't take on that church responsibility teaching or whatever it is because it will interfere with my
time with my family in every decision like this people are making they're making decisions on who
is of the highest priority in their life
so the willingness to forsake all all relationships all possessions is a requirement for discipleship.
Because Jesus requires total commitment to himself.
Right?
The measure of true discipleship is the readiness to obey him above all others.
There's a price to pay for placing Jesus beneath family
members he said if you love family members more than him you're not worried
to be his disciple a genuine Christian disciple is someone places Christ at the center of their life a true disciple
is willing to sacrifice the comforts of life and relationships for the sake of following Jesus and obeying him.
So Jesus imposes a test on the authenticity of your professed love for him.
If he is not supreme in your life, your love for him is insufficient,
and he deems you to be not a true disciple.
Right. and he deems you to be not a true disciple right it's almost as if today the the and I know it's not spoken out loud but it's almost as if today the
teaching is that following Christ is an option but doesn't require full
commitment I mean we can be a Christian at political rallies.
We can be a Christian at
different events and everything.
But it only goes so far, doesn't it?
It only goes
so far.
But there comes a point in time
where
we're in situations where
we must obey.
And, you know, we keep coming back to that calling or called to the mission field or anything.
But really, when it comes right down to brass tacks,
it's just living day to day for Christ.
Just living day to day for him that can cause that opposition
and that, you know, that, if you and that conflict in families.
In this day and age, generally the church world is accepting now of the LGBT agenda.
The churches that are opposed don't say anything, right? Am I right? If they're
opposed at all, they don't say anything, but you get right down to families, and you start making
a stand based on what the Word of God says regarding sexual orientation, all this other
stuff. Sometimes that causes a division in families because you're standing on the word of God, and that's a very practical thing.
And I've encountered that in my own family where we've had those.
It's happening everywhere, Doc, in modern society, every day.
Right.
And the church has relinquished its role and its position in society.
Yes.
Obedience to Christ is not a matter of choice.
It's a recognition of his authority, his lordship over every aspect of your life.
Divided loyalty is incompatible with true discipleship.
Yes.
It gives us a clear definition of what he considers a true disciple.
One who loves him supremely,
obeys his commands,
is willing to forsake all
for the sake of following him.
And in cases of conflict
between family love
and love for Jesus,
the disciple is required to resolve it
by choosing Jesus
over family relatives so let's um let's go I'm looking at the time I'll go to
verse 38 he who doesn't take his cross and follow after me isn't worthy of me.
So now you've got another one on discipleship.
First he says, hey, if you love your family more than me, you're not worthy of me.
Now he says, if you don't take up your cross you're not worthy of me right he just added
another layer to his definition of disciple
verse 38 is the first mention of the cross in the new testament
this is where he introduces the cross
he had not mentioned it before right This is where he introduces the cross.
He had not mentioned it before, right?
And this is a recurring statement by Jesus.
It's in Matthew 16.
It's in Luke 9, Luke 14. And the repetition indicates that Jesus, hang on, Doc, I lost my message.
The repetition of the concept emphasizes its importance.
Whenever something is repeated in the Bible,
you got to pay attention.
It's been put there multiple times because it's an extremely important principle.
So as I said, this is the first time he mentions the cross.
So he's, none of those guys there had any idea what he what that he was prophesying
about his impending crucifixion yes i wasn't anywhere in the thoughts right and when we think
they must have been thinking wait a minute how did we get from mom and dad to the core to a Roman cross right that's a big jump yeah just seemed like an extreme
change because crucifixion was not a Jewish method of punishment yes so Jesus
was teaching twelve Jewish men an extremely important principle by using an object they knew little about.
Yes.
They'd seen it, likely.
They'd seen it along the roads, the people crucified and everything. And part of the problem that we have right now is the cross really for a lot of modern believers isn't ugly, is it?
The cross for a lot of people, it's art, it's gilded, we dress it up, we put it at the front of the church.
Not that we shouldn't do those things, but there's not that terror with it. There's not
the fear of the cross. I mean, for us today, it'd be comparable to saying, he that taketh not up his
electric chair and followeth after me is not worthy of me. I mean, this was a method of execution.
This is where they killed people for breaking the law. And think about what Jesus is saying here.
You know, the disciples are sitting there, and when you think of someone being crucified,
what have they done to be crucified? They've defied Rome. They might have murdered somebody.
Who knows what might have been.
But it was the most severe form of execution that you could inflict on someone.
There isn't really anything in the Roman idea that was worse than crucifixion.
It was a place of shame. It was a
place that was meant to inflict pain over a long period of time. It was meant to torture people to
death, and yet Jesus is saying to his disciples here, he that taketh not his cross, his individual
cross. When we think of taking up our cross, his individual cross.
When we think of taking up our cross, we think,
oh, we're going to be late at the buffet before the Baptists get there.
That's taking up our cross.
No, Jesus is saying, if you don't take up your mode of execution,
you're not worthy of me.
Yes.
So you really, you said it all here, Doc,
because at that moment, Jesus transitions.
He starts talking about the Roman cross.
He's talking to 12 Jewish guys.
Jews didn't crucify people.
Romans did it.
And the only knowledge they had of carrying the cross
was seeing a prisoner transporting their own cross
to the execution site.
Right.
And so they're thinking, wait a minute.
You want us to carry a cross to our execution site?
What are you teaching us, Jesus?
Yes.
A cross represents suffering and shame.
It represents death.
Yes, that's what he's teaching.
Not physical death.
It's the willingness to endure the most extreme form of suffering,
persecution, shame, loss for the sake of following Jesus.
It means being prepared to go to your crucifixion not necessarily physical but your reputation
your career your your business your wealth are you willing to see it Yes.
So the cross is a symbol that reflects the sacrificial nature of our discipleship.
It puts radical demands on those who follow Jesus. And it also means being prepared to endure trials
and challenges on your journey.
The journey of discipleship
from salvation, baptism,
until your entry into the presence of God,
it's not an easy road.
And none of us know what's up ahead for us.
What we have to know is that we've made a decision
that we're going to go through it.
Right.
Even if it leads to the crucifixion on the hill.
Yes.
That's where it really is.
Do you love me to the point of death?
Yes.
Will you follow me to the same?
Will you follow me to Calvary?
Yes. me to the same will you follow me to Calvary yes we have died of Christ and you die on cross and that old nature that old man that you used to be,
it has to stay nailed to the cross.
Yes.
Once again, he tells us,
if you're not willing to carry your cross for me,
you're not willing to carry your cross for me you're not worthy of me so he adds another
condition for being recognized as a true disciple first condition is you've got to love me more than anybody else second condition you have to take your cross and
carrying that cross is self-sacrifice even unto death for the sake of my
kingdom you have to embrace challenges and hardships that come your way
um there has to be a wholehearted commitment and readiness to face adversity
you know it's easy to say, well, I'll follow you, Jesus, but following him, sometimes he takes you into a storm.
Yes.
When you follow Christ, your life is marked by self-denial, perseverance, a willingness to endure whatever trials come your way.
And again, in our world today, which highlights convenience, happiness,
suffering, and loss is not accepted by most people today in the church
right it's it's a negative you want to avoid that
yes and there are a lot of big ministries doc built on teaching you how to avoid it yes isn't that really what they teach yes a convenience christianity
how to be happy and blessed without carrying your cross without doing a thing
you know i i try i don't like mentioning the names of other preachers, but seriously,
could you ever imagine Joel Osteen teaching on carrying your cross?
It's not even realistic to think he would.
No.
And he would even probably make the argument that it's not necessary for him to that's
that's not his calling that's not that's not his uh his path or his his lane so to speak
uh he would he would teach that um being successful is is the cross that you have to carry because you will be criticized for being successful.
That would be his definition of it.
People are going to oppose you because of your super success.
But you just got to keep on carrying that cross.
It twists everything.
Well, Doc,
we better
go to the Lord's Supper.
All right.
We appreciate you tuning in here each
and every weekday morning, 8 a.m.
Eastern Time.
On Fridays, what we do is we
offer the Lord's Supper, and we're going to do
that right now. So if you have the elements of communion, which includes either bread and
grape juice and or red wine, either one of those, they're fine to use. Then I ask you, let's set
those aside for just a moment. We're going to pray for those elements here in just a few minutes.
But here on Fridays, what we normally do is we do kind of a, if you will, a reset.
And the Lord's Supper allows us to do that and allows us as a community to examine our lives,
examine our individual lives as members of the body of Christ to make sure that we're on course.
And the Lord's Supper provides that opportunity for us as a community of believers to make sure that we are maintaining that course.
Illustration of the pilot, if he starts off flying from the airport
and he's just 1% off course uh in his flight path by the time he
gets to his destination he's so far away he may never get back and so we must constantly adjust
the course to make sure that we're there and the way that we do that is by examining our hearts and
making sure that things are uh are well between us and the Father,
that sin has been confessed,
that we are once again looking at our own lives.
Do we love him more than father and mother?
Do we pursue that cross?
Jesus said, you've got to take it up.
You've got to take that cross up.
And so the Lord's Supper allows us the
opportunity to have our hearts examined by the Lord and do that reset. And so Rick, if you don't
mind right now, let's go to the Lord in prayer and just ask him to search our hearts and to make
sure everything is well between us and the Father right now. Would you pray for us? Absolutely. Dear precious Father,
you are a Father of love and mercy and kindness. Father, we ask the Holy Spirit,
search our hearts, reveal to us all things that we have done, said, thought, or didn't do,
didn't say,
that were
sin to you, Father.
Bring this to our
remembrance.
We confess our sins now
and you forgive
us and wash them away
and never remember them again.
In Jesus' name, amen. Amen and amen.
And if you prayed that prayer with us and things are well between you and the Lord,
if you made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ and been baptized from water according to the
scriptures in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus,
we invite you to partake in this blessed sacrament where we honor the Lord, we honor His death,
the death that we are called to follow after Him in, that we are to die in Him.
And so today we invite you to participate in this.
And if you have the elements of communion with you, what we're going to do right now is we're going to pray for those,
and then we're going to proceed into the is we're going to pray for those.
And then we're going to proceed into the Lord's Supper here.
So let's pray.
Almighty God, in your tender mercy, you gave your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption.
He offered himself and made once for all time a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. And he instituted this remembrance of his passion and death,
which he commanded us to continue until he comes again. And so, Father, we ask you to bless and sanctify with your word and Holy Spirit
these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most blessed body and blood.
Christ, our Passover lamb has been
sacrificed once for all upon the cross, therefore let us keep the feast.
Hallelujah. On the night that he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and
when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to his disciples saying, Take, eat. This is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.
Thank you.
The body of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which was given for you,
preserve your body and soul to everlasting life.
This is the bread of heaven.
Take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you preserve your body and soul to everlasting life this is the bread of heaven take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you after supper Jesus took the cup and when he had given thanks he gave it to them
saying drink this all of you for this is my blood of the new covenant which is
shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins whenever you drink it do this and remembrance of me praise God
hallelujah glory to God well the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ which is shed
for you preserve your body and soul to everlasting life drink the cup of
salvation and remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you preserve your body and soul to everlasting life drink the cup of salvation in remembrance
that christ's blood was shed for you and be thankful behold the lamb of god behold him who
takes away the sins of the world and blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of
the lamb this sacrament is the gift of god for the people of god feed on him by faith with thanksgiving that christ died for you praise god
glory to god it's always such a blessing to participate in lord's communion
lord's supper and here we are in dallas texas rick uh and i i just love the aspect of technology here
we could be anywhere in the world and do the Lord's Supper. Isn't that amazing? I
mean, Paul would be giggling about this, wouldn't he? I mean, he'd go, wow, you mean you can be
anywhere and I can meet with all the churches I've visited in the past and fellowship with them? Are them are you kidding me i'm on this absolutely so we ought to be enthusiastic about our
use of the technology amen and we ought to be using it to its maximum potential
yes well rick we we still have about three minutes left any uh words that you want to
deliver here as we close out this week of morning Manna? No, I think our lessons this week
have been some pretty deep
subjects that Jesus taught.
I was looking at
the comments, and I forget which brother said it. Maybe if I
go through here, I'll see it again.
He said, I didn't even know I had a
cross to carry. Yeah.
Wade.
I didn't know I had
a cross.
Yes. Each of us have a cross.
Yes.
Each of us.
So if you don't know what it is,
you have to ask him. what's my cross that you want
me to carry right and just a reminder the purpose of the cross is to crucify yes something's got to
die on the cross something has to die on that cross and so that that personal cross that we carry something's gonna die on that cross
it might be the flesh it might be our affections for the world
it might be a a career choice that we've made
it could be any number of things but something's gonna die on a cross
that's right.
It's your flesh,
your human nature,
your ambitions,
your pride,
your temper,
all those things.
They die on the cross.
Yes.
But he's got a cross for each one of us.
I've had to carry my cross. Doc has carried his cross. one of us I've had to carry my cross Doc has carried his cross
each of us have a cross to carry
you got to know when the disciples
first heard this message
wow that's a big radical message
but when they saw Jesus carrying
his cross
when they saw it
later on
you got to know that these words came ringing back in their ears i said you
mean we're really going to carry a cross yes you're really going to carry a cross
yeah i think doc probably made that connection for them.
I don't think they thought about it at that moment because it was too shocking.
The sight of Christ carrying his cross was too shocking.
You weren't thinking about lessons at that point.
You were gasping.
But I think after the resurrection, when he met with him for 40 days,
then he went over his lessons.
He said, now, do you remember when I told you to pick up your cross?
Did anybody see me carry a cross?
Praise God. Yes, Lord, we saw you carry a cross? Praise God.
Yes, Lord.
We saw you carry a cross.
Well, folks,

We'll be back in Vero.
God willing,
the creek don't rise
as my dad would say.
But we'll be back in Vero
and be praying for us
for traveling mercies.
The Lord will watch over us.
Rick, any final goodbyes?
I'm fine.
Well, in that case,
we'll see you on the Monday morning edition
of Morning Manna.
