Well, good morning, everybody.
Welcome to morning, Manna.
It's Friday, and that means it's Faith Friday, and we will be focusing on the topic of faith, how to build our faith.
What is biblical faith?
It's also the day that we go to the Lord's table for Holy Communion.
So please join us later today at the end of today's lesson for the Lord's suffering.
for the Lord's Supper and have bread and your choice of grape juice or red wine.
If you are born again and baptized, you are welcome to participate in the Lord's Supper with us.
And you will be joining people all over the world in a virtual communion service.
I just think it's awesome that brothers and sisters in numerous nations can
participate in communion with the Lord at the same time.
Amen.
It's an amazing time that we live in.
So we have been in the sixth chapter of Daniel for, I guess, it seems like two months.
Because we had some traveling in there.
And so now we're going to conclude Daniel.
And we've been studying Daniel.
Um, well, we've been in the book of Daniel for several months, but we've been in chapter six for a number of weeks. And this is, uh, Daniel in the lion's den. So Daniel is this point is getting, he's getting out of the lion's den. And, um, he's a free man. That's what we're studying today. What are the principles of faith? What, what can we glean? What can we learn from these verses about Daniel?
and his his uh ordeal standing for god and being persecuted being lied about being set up by
his jealous enemies and tossed into a cave with lions it is an amazing story this is not a
sunday-school fable it's a real story it truly happened so doc we're going to be studying verses 24 through
the sixth chapter of Daniel.
Yes.
Let's pray.
And then, Doc, you can read the word, Father God, our wonderful Father in heaven.
Father, we pray to the same God who delivered Daniel.
We know who you are.
We know who we are praying to.
We know who we have faith in.
We have our faith in the same God who delivered Daniel.
You are the only God.
in the universe and our faith and our trust and our confidence is in you you have never changed
you never will change father teach us faith we ask for the presence of your holy spirit to guide
this class to reveal the principles of faith that are in the book of daniel make us stronger
disciples, brighter lights for you, for your son, Jesus Christ and his kingdom. In the name of
Jesus, we pray. Amen. Amen. And we're so privileged to have you here with us on Morning Manna and on
this Faith Friday. As Rick mentioned, we are continuing our journey here on faith with Daniel
and continuing the story of Daniel in the Not Lions Den. And last Friday, we, King Darius recognized
recognize the living God of Daniel. And you're going to hear that phrase pop up again today in our
text. And so if you've got your Bibles, Daniel chapter 6 verses 24 through 28. And I'll read from
the King James here. And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel,
and they cast them into the din of lions, them, their children, and their wives. And the lions had
the mastery of them and break all their bones and pieces wherever they came at the bottom of the
den. Then King Darius wrote unto all the people, nations and languages that dwell in all the earth,
peace be multiplied unto you. I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble
and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God and steadfast forever in his kingdom,
that which shall not be destroyed in his dominion shall be even unto the end he delivereth and rescueth
and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth who hath delivered daniel from the power of the lions
so this daniel prospered in the reign of darius and in the reign of cyrus the persian god bless the reading of his word
Amen.
Verse 24.
The king commanded
and they brought those men who had accused Daniel
and they cast them into the den of lions
them, their children, and their wives.
And the lions mauled them
and broke all their bones and pieces
before they came to the bottom of the den.
What a gruesome scene.
we'll start with and the king commanded so this is a very swift decisive act of justice by king Darius
a complete reversal of his previous command against Daniel there wasn't a trial
because there were no courts he was the king
there were no juries no lawyers he was the king he held court right there and he issued his his judgment
and you know what is shocking here is obviously the king was in a deep sense of indignation
and he brought swift justice against the men who outmaneuvered him, snookered him, duped him,
to do something that caused him great anguish.
Remember the night before, he didn't eat dinner, he didn't sleep, he didn't listen to music.
He tossed and turned all night.
up before the sun came up, run to the lion's den to see if Daniel was alive.
The king was in great anguish.
And he determined, I will get even with the men who did this to me.
See, Doc, it was not only, Darius was not only indignant about the wrong that was done to Daniel.
He was angry about what was done to him.
yes they they deceived the king to do something that was that caused him great anguish
probably the worst night of his life so it was a double crime
so this this decree is a it's a public vindication of Daniel
and his character
and it's obviously
a condemnation of his
accuser's
lack of character
and it demonstrates that the king
now that he's set free from his
anguish
he's now acting with a sense
of indignation
and
a burning desire
to punish those who perpetrated the crime.
Again, remember, there are two crimes here,
the one against Daniel and the other one against the king.
So one thing that we learn here is justice,
even though it's sometimes delayed,
it's always certain.
And the enemies of God eventually will be brought down.
Yes. There's a payday someday.
That's right.
And so the men who plotted against Daniel ended up,
this is like, you know, Haman's gallows.
The men that plotted to have Daniel eaten by the lions themselves got eaten by the lions.
And not only themselves, but their children.
and their wives.
Yes.
I mean, this was harsh, Doc.
King Darius' reaction.
It was harsh.
It was brutal.
I mean, he shouted, go get their wives and children, too.
I'm not going to stop with executing those men.
I'm going to execute their entire families.
Why? What was the high? See, he was, Darius was now interpreting this, this action as treason.
Yes.
They conspired to dupe the king.
And the more I think about it, Doc, I think, I think the action against him drove his, his desire for punishment more than his desire to get.
you know justice for Daniel he was angry over what they did to him so so maybe maybe in
Darius's mind executing the men was what was necessary for justice for for Daniel
but executing their families was necessary for justice for Darius
whatever was in his mind the punishment was extremely cruel and brutal
he ordered he ordered children to be tossed into the lion's pit
but it speaks of the severity of the crime
a conspiracy against the king a conspiracy against the prime minister
I mean this was this was bordering on a coup right I mean doc if if if a group of if a group of governors today conspired to have the vice president of the country executed is that not a coup and it would be treason right right
and what do they do to traders here or what are they supposed to do the traders
they're to be a home and be executed
now let's point out here
that the execution of the children and wives
this was not God's action
how do I know that
because the Lord does not punish
the innocent for
the sins of the guilty.
That's a biblical principle.
Right.
So this action was entirely by Darius.
This was according to the law of the Persian Empire, of Babylonia.
This was not the Lord.
But what we have to understand here,
we ought to be sobered by the fact that transgressions can have
consequences that extend far beyond the guilty yes and can ensnare the innocent as well
innocent people can get hurt and the lions had the mastery of them and break all their bones
and pieces ever they came at the bottom of the den they were dead before they hit the ground
wow and just think of the sheer number of individuals that they tossed into the lion's den rick
we're talking 120 people at least and their families well were all the governors involved in the
plot it said they were all in cahoots wow i've got to go back here and look at that now doc yeah
wow he wiped out his entire political leadership yes verse four it said then the presidents and princes
sought to find occasion against daniel so they were all in it together yeah there were three
presidents and and daniel was one of the three yes so there were two presidents but all the princes
those were the 120 yes verse seven all the presidents of the kingdom the governor
the princess counselors and the captains consulted together to establish that royal statute to trick
darius and so wait a minute it goes beyond the 120 yeah it was a it was a major coup that was going on
read that again let's count how many different people how many different classifications of
officials back in verse seven it says all the presidents so there's two of the kingdom the government
the governors that's 120 and the princes the counselors and the captains have consulted together to
establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree that whosoever shall ask a petition of any
god or man for 30 days save of the o king he should be cast into the den of lions well there
could have been hundreds 500 people plus their families or wives and children that's right
I mean, we might be talking over 1,000 people.
Yeah.
I never thought about it like this, Doc.
So when you really stopped thinking about how many lions were down there and the lions did.
Okay, that was the very next thing I was going to say.
If they tossed over 1,000 people in that pit and they were dead before they hit the ground,
man, doc.
Yeah.
Daniel slept with hundreds of lions.
Hungry lions.
I have never in my life thought about this.
What are the paintings, do you see?
Three or four lions.
Yeah.
No, he was sleeping with hundreds of lions.
Wow.
This is revelation to me.
Yeah.
so the lions had the mastery of them meaning unrestrained ferocity raw power these lions were no longer supernaturally docile they were kitties for one night they were purring they were purring they
They put Daniel to sleep with purrs.
Hundreds of lions purring.
I never, ever thought about Daniels sleeping in the middle of hundreds of lions.
But now they're no longer supernaturally tame.
Right.
They're no longer kitty cats.
They're back to being hungry lions.
And really hungry now because they've gone a day.
without eating and most likely the lord has increased her appetite says they broke all their bones in pieces
ever they came at the bottom of the of the din very gruesome description of the of the
lions hunger, their viciousness.
You had lions fighting over human
bodies.
It wasn't just
one lion jumping on you.
There might have been
eight to ten lions
all trying to get your body
ripping you apart, breaking your bones.
It's a gruesome thing.
Wow. So you can, you know, do the contrast with Daniel.
Yeah, this is really, this is really amplified now, Doc.
When I think about how many lions Daniel slept with, to me, it's an even greater miracle.
Yeah.
So these lions had a sudden appetite for wicked men.
And they shredded them, ripped them apart.
And as gruesome as this image is and as horrible as this whole scene comes out,
it really is, in a way, a shadow.
if you will, the judgment at the end of days.
That one day there's going to be an accounting
and all the wicked and their families
are going to be held accountable.
Yes.
One lesson we see here, Doc, is that the same power,
the same tool that's used to protect the righteous,
can be used to bring swift, terrible judgment upon the wicket.
That's the truth. Yes.
There's a lesson.
Um, verse 25.
Then King Darius wrote unto all people,
nations and languages that dwell in all the earth.
peace be multiplied under you then king darius wrote so now the king is writing a new decree
that's that's the main thing to see here he said bring me bring me my parchment bring me my pen
I am going to write a new executive order
because we would call it today
in the United States, this is a presidential executive order.
So the king wrote a new royal proclamation
and it was a direct reversal of his previous decree
that led to Daniel's condemnation.
Notice it's written to unto
all people, all nations, all languages in the world.
Right.
Now, did Darius rule the entire world?
No.
It was the world he knew.
Darius was like, is there someplace I don't know about?
I'll go get it.
the known world
to Darius was under his rule
all people
all nations all languages
this was a universal decree
and
and he says
all people all nations
that dwell on the earth
again
he's making a universal
decree of the scope of this of the statement that it it crosses all geographical boundaries all
cultural boundaries if you came to Babylon and so I didn't know anything I don't live here
and I don't speak this language their attitude was you're in our place now yeah and it
covers your language and wherever you live it covers that place too in other words even if he
didn't control it he was claiming dominion over it doc really it's got a lot of swag to it yes
Again, imagine a President of the United States signing executive order for all Americans,
and he says, and by the way, this is for everybody.
And that's the world, too.
I don't care what language you speak.
This is the decree.
It'd be like Donald Trump posting on X and then saying thank you for your attention to this matter.
Now, don't give you many ideas, Doc.
I'm sorry, yeah, you're right.
Don't give him any ideas.
And we just do it.
You got those evangelicals in there always telling him he's King Darius or Cyrus or somebody, you know.
But I'm just saying that jokingly to give you an idea, what this look like.
Nobody dared to say, excuse me, King Darius, you don't control the whole world.
It's in his mind.
Yes, I do.
maybe I'm I just haven't taken it yet but I will eventually I'm writing a decree for everybody so it's a worldwide audience and it's a testimony of to God's sovereignty and I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking through the man at this point he's this is a universal proclamation
now King Darius does this in public
but the conspirators did their proclamation in secret
they had to sneak their plot
into the king and get him to sign it
remember they were rushing it
remember that verse where they were rushing to get him to sign it
before he figured out what was going on
but his proclamation it's out in the open
he desires everybody to know it
peace be multiplied
unto you
this is a
a blessing of goodwill
prosperity
again the previous
the previous
decree had a death penalty in it.
Now he's writing another decree that has a universal
blessing in it. Yes.
There's goodwill and prosperity. Peace be
multiplied, not just regular peace, I want it multiplied in you.
This
word peace and, of course, is shalom.
the Hebrew so it is peace security prosperity well-being good health it's the whole
package he's blessing people with the whole package Doc Darius could only say and
write these words if he had a transformed heart right he went from great anguish
tossing and turning in bed, no sleep, no food, and now he's blessing the world.
This is all in 24 hours, less than 24 hours.
So obviously there was some kind of transformation in Darius's heart.
Then verse 26, I make a decree that in every dominion of
my kingdom men tremble and fear before the god of daniel for he is the living god and steadfast forever
and his kingdom that that which shall not be destroyed and his dominion shall be even unto the end yes
yeah so the king makes a decree i make a decree he announces us he doesn't send a a crier
out into the streets the king shouts that i make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom
men shall tremble and fear before the god of his of daniel so he speaks with authority he speaks
with his uh in the the power of his official command he dramatically reverses
His own previous decree, which said, hey, if anybody is caught worshipping anybody else, they shall be executed.
Now he's flipped it around, he's reversed it, he's repealed it, and now he's decreed it.
And now he's decreeing, let everybody tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.
for he is the living God and steadfast forever
the word for
it introduces the reason for the king's decree
he's saying I've got a new understanding of Daniel's God
I knew that Daniel was religious
I knew he had a God, but I didn't know he was alive.
He's now calling him the living God.
This is very important.
And Darius says, my, none of them were living.
None of the gods.
They were just statues.
But he says, no, this one's living.
Yes.
But what he says next is incredible.
meaning his kingdom shall that shall that which shall not be destroyed yes so here's a king
proclaiming that there's a bigger kingdom than is king darius is saying there is a bigger kingdom a
greater kingdom than mine that's eternal yes darius had a revelation of an eternal kingdom yes yes
and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed
darius had seen the rise and fall of kingdoms he helped bring down kingdoms yes
but he recognized this living god his kingdom cannot be defeated it shall last forever
unto the end the end of mankind the end of all earthly
power, time, space, matter.
I don't think, I don't think Darius could see beyond the end of the world into
eternity.
But he said, as long as there's an earth, this living God is going to rule.
Yes.
I mean, truly, Darius.
have he had me counter with the living god yes he had a spiritual breakthrough in verse 27 he
delivers and rescues and he works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth who has delivered
daniel from the power of the lions right so he delivereth and rescueth
So you've got the king's final proclamation is a declaration of God's nature as a deliverer, a rescuer.
This is a foundational truth.
And Darius says, I have learned this firsthand.
This living God will deliver his subjects.
He will rescue his subjects.
whoever puts their faith and confidence in this living god they can know for certain that he shall
rescue them you know as a king doc he he might have been wondering can i say that about myself
can i deliver and rescue any and all citizens of my kingdom who trust me
But he couldn't deliver Daniel
Think about that
He was bound by his own law
And he couldn't deliver Daniel
But God could
So the God that we serve
Is a God of salvation
And he's listened
He's the God of rescue
Never forget this
He is the God of rescue
Hallelujah
Yes
He delivers
and he rescues, and he still does it today.
God actively intervenes in a situation and affairs
to save his people from harm and hopeless situations.
If you are in such a mess,
if you think you're in a hopeless situation,
put your faith in the living God
because he still rescues.
He still delivers people.
from hopeless situations when you are drowning in despair turn that energy into faith in god
and remind him of what his word says and say i am waiting on my deliverance if i have to wait
a week a month a year i i will not budge i am waiting on you to deliver me amen
so the king was helpless to rescue daniel
but he realized that this living god rescued him and the way that he rescued him he did
didn't, God didn't send an angel down into the lion's den to extract Daniel and say,
come on, get out of here. Let's go. No, God did it an amazing way. He kept Daniel in the
lion's den. Yes. So sometimes, sometimes God keeps you in your hopeless situation.
so that the miracle is even greater and bigger when you come out so don't become impatient don't become
don't go into despair if there are delays he may be doing it to bring greater glory to himself
when people say that that had to be god there was no way she could get out of that mess there was
no hope for that guy.
It had to be God.
So be patient in whatever situation you're in,
but have your faith in the God who delivers.
Amen.
It's a,
his ability and willingness to deliver
is a core attribute of who he is.
It's an attribute of his character.
And he worketh signs,
and wonders in heaven and in earth.
Signs. He works signs. These are acts that defy natural law, defy human understanding that exceed
worldly limitations. Wonders? Well, that's something that makes you wonder.
why do they call it wonders because people go i wonder how that happened
god does not do wonders
regularly in the same place the same way if he did it was it would it would cease being a wonder
right you'd lose the awe of the act because for it to be a wonder you have to it has to be
something that drops your jaw where people go i wonder why that happened how did that happen
but once you if you got a if you could start putting a signs up wanders every sunday night it's
no longer wonders that's right because if it's consistent and the same it's no longer a wonder it's just
an everyday occurrence and it's lost its special appeal he that worked with signs and wonders in
heaven and in earth doc there are signs and wonders in heaven and
Yeah, think about that. I saw I caught that. There's things that God's doing in heaven that make the angels go, what? Did you see that? All right. I mean, I know some people could say, well, this refers to the sky. This refers to outer space. It's in heaven and in earth. But it just says, it just says,
in heaven and in earth right so it's possible there are he just likes to do it he just likes to do
miracles and wonders the uh i guess i just want to say who hath delivered daniel from the power of
the lions he that worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth who has delivered daniel from the power of
lions. So the king's final phrase, these are his last words, who has delivered Daniel from
the power of the lions? This is the official endorsement. This is the proclamation coming from the
king himself, that what just happened was supernatural. There is nobody going to deny it. You'd have
to be you'd have to call the king a liar right the king said this living god who does signs and
wonders has now delivered daniel from the power of the lions there was nobody in the kingdom
who could say i i think i think the king is exaggerating the story no the king was there
and I'm telling you I know what I saw
and this was a divine act
this is a wonder
you have no idea how many lions
were in that in that den
and I saw how they ripped
apart the men that I tossed
in there who did this to Daniel
those were vicious, ferocious
wild beast
they tore those people apart
but they didn't touch Daniel
that is a miracle
That is a wonder, and it's done by a living God.
I can't get over the revelation in Daris's mind.
This is a living God.
I can just see him, Doc, looking at people go,
this God's alive.
It's not like our gods in our temples.
This one's alive.
Yes. I mean, his excitement over it.
We've got dead gods. We go to temples and worship idols. Daniel worships a living God.
And then verse 28, so this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus and in the reign of Cyrus, the Persian.
so what do we have here it's it's it's Daniel's ultimate vindication he had enduring prosperity
so this is the conclusive statement wrapping up the whole story now so we've told you this all
these things now so here's the final word the final word is Daniel prospered
he prospered he had a flourishing successful life and nobody messed with him he had political favor and
power he had financial favor and power he had a good reputation he got everything back his
his standing was restored he had profound favor with the king you wanted to get something done
go to Daniel, Daniel could get anything done.
The opposite of the people who tried to get him killed,
they got themselves killed and their children and their wives.
He prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
So Daniel outlived the reign of Darius.
who was the current king at the time that this happened and then he prospered in the reign of
Cyrus the person who's the next great monarch who re who succeeded Darius and actually
ruled a bigger empire yes
what was what's the final the final conclusion of all this that
Daniel was blessed by God it wasn't Darius and Cyrus who blessed him
although God used them to but Daniel found favor in the eyes of God
and his favor transcended political dominions and governments
governments came and went and it didn't affect Daniel
that's right because Daniel served a different king
that's right all right so what do we have here doc I want to look at her time
where are we out here oh we got a little bit time
we're a little bit early today what have we learned in all of chapter six okay we'll go back to
the beginning the first four verses um we're taught about the faithfulness of daniel his his integrity
that daniel's faith was the foundation of his character remember
in those first four verses
he talked about
he was found to have an excellent spirit
meaning
he was honest he was trustworthy
he worked hard he was diligent
and he was known for his
excellent spirit
that excellent
spirit
and Daniel is what drove his
his fellow bureaucrats crazy they became jealous and they began
conducting secret investigations of Daniel they were doing background checks on
this guy they had him under surveillance but they could not find any fault or any
error they just they came up empty-handed it's like there's no this guy doesn't do anything wrong
but they're thinking oh he's this got to be the most boring guy we've ever seen
he's so boring the reason he doesn't do anything wrong is that he is boring
but that wasn't a reason he was
faithful. That they didn't understand, but God did. God looked at Daniel and said he's got an
excellent spirit because he's faithful. The next thing we learned about faith, and these are
in verses 5 through 9, that faith was a non-negotiable substance. His faith was not-negotiable substance. His faith was
not open to negotiate you weren't going to get there was no way you can get daniel to budge on his
faith in god he was committed to god end of discussion then in verse 10 we see his faith in his
uncompromised worship.
Remember, they got the
king to sign the decree.
For the next 30 days,
nobody can worship anything or anybody
except the images that were approved
by Darius.
Daniel didn't compromise.
He continued to worship God
and he prayed three times a day
like he did before they signed the decree.
Yes.
There was no compromise in his faith.
He had faith when he realized that he was in a hopeless trap.
He didn't collapse.
He didn't flee.
He didn't pass out.
He didn't scream and say,
God, why did you let me get caught in this trap?
he maintained his faith it's like whatever i i i serve my god i'm not i'm not going to change and then finally we see
his faith was vindicated and it was vindicated by a divine deliverance only a living god could deliver him from a den with hundreds of lions
there was no other way
the deliverance could not have been done by any human means
and so God was glorified
anything else doc you want to share with
with us I know I'm a little better than
what I'm just impressed with the end of Daniel 6
as if Darius is giving a prophetic word there at the end
and it's a foretaste of the kingdom that's coming in the Messiah and he was not a prophet
you know he might not have even even been a godly man until this event with Daniel took place
but yet he spoke a prophetic word about a kingdom that will not end the greatest earthly king
at that time said, I see a kingdom greater than mine.
I see a kingdom. My kingdom will end one day. My kingdom is not forever, but there's a kingdom
that Daniel's a part of that never ends, that will never die. And it's as if Darius is saying,
that kingdom's on its way. One day, that kingdom is going to rule overall. That's
That's one of the capstones for Daniel 6 for me.
So,
theologically, how do you explain it?
Darius wasn't, he wasn't saved because their, you know,
the Christian salvation experience wasn't present at that time.
The Holy Spirit did not indwell in anybody.
How do you explain Darius prophesying?
He recognized the living God.
And God used that faith.
the faith of Darius, a Gentile, mind you, a Gentile king, used his faith to prophetically tell about a savior, a Messiah that was coming, that wasn't just a savior to the Jewish people, but a savior to the world.
And it's interesting that Darius, even though he had great brutality in issuing punishment, but also saw a kingdom
that was yet to come. And in a lot of ways, that reflects the character and nature of God that one day
there's going to be a payment for wickedness. There's going to be a judgment that takes place where
the wicked will pay for what they've done to the righteous. And it's going to come when that
kingdom, that forever kingdom arrives in its full glory. But somehow the Holy Spirit had to descend on
darius long enough to inspire him to speak those words yes perhaps he had read some some of the
writings of the Hebrew prophets right and it just came out of him he felt inspired the Holy Spirit
bringing to his his remembrance things that he read from the prophets
But it truly was an inspired moment.
It was an inspired moment.
He could see into the far distant future.
This living God has a kingdom that has no ending.
Well, hey, it's a great story about your faith,
standing in your faith and God delivering you from an impossible situation.
that there is nothing that you can face that is impossible god can and will deliver you
and he will get the glory he'll get the credit people will praise him even pagan kings
will speak of the glory of god amen praise god if you're in an impossible situation
just rest in christ and know that your deliverance is coming
hallelujah praise god just know it all right doc let's uh let's go to the lord's table for holy
communion amen and we're so glad that you can join us for the uh the lord's supper here on this faith
friday we do this every friday uh jesus said as often as you do it do it in remembrance of him
uh but it seems like a lot of the church world neglects to uh remember this and so
We remembered on a weekly basis as a ministry here of faith and values, and there are so many people that appreciate the opportunity for global communion.
And we believe, just like the word says, Jesus said, this is my flesh, this is my blood.
And we don't compromise on that.
We don't say it's something else.
We say it's what the word says.
And so we take the Lord at his word on this.
And we also take the Lord out his word that we're supposed to participate in.
this until he comes again and what we normally do as we approach the Lord's table we ask
the Lord to search our hearts for those areas where we fall short and we all fall fall
short in some area or another and we definitely need the Lord's forgiveness in our lives
continual forgiveness and what the Lord's supper does is it brings us back and it's like a
daily accountability test how are things going on with you how are things going on in your
heart and in your life. Are you truly serving him? And so Rick, I'd like to ask you to pray for all of us
who are participating in the Lord's table today. The Lord would search our hearts and that we would
enter the Lord's table with a clear conscience today. Would you pray for us? Absolutely. Our Heavenly
Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Grateful that our names are in the book of life.
Father, we are deeply grateful for the sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ, that enabled us to be
reconciled with you and for our sins to be forgiven and washed away.
Father, whatever sins we have committed since we've last gathered here, forgive us and
remember them no more, cleanse us that we may come to.
your son's table with clean hearts and clean lips and clean hands for his glory and his honor
and his pleasure in the name of Jesus. Amen. Amen. We're going to pray a blessing over the
elements of the Lord's table at this time. So if you have those, which includes bread and either
red wine or grape juice. And as we mentioned before, if you're confessing, believe,
in Jesus Christ, you've been baptized in water according to scripture, then we invite you to
participate in the Lord's table. And let's pray the Lord's blessing over this, and let's participate
together in this celebration of the life of the Lord. Almighty God, in your tender mercy you gave
your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption.
He offered himself and made once for all time a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the
sins of the whole world. And he instituted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he
commanded us to continue until he comes again. So Father, we ask you to bless and sanctify with
your word and Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most blessed
body and blood. Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed once for all upon the cross.
Therefore, let us keep the feast. Alleluia. On the night that he was betrayed,
Lord Jesus took bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and he gave it to his
disciples saying take eat this is my body which is given for you do this in remembrance
of me the body of our Lord Jesus Christ was given for you preserve your body and
soul to everlasting life this is the bread of
take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you. After supper, Jesus took the cup,
and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, drink this all of you. So this is my blood
of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you
drink it, do this in remembrance of me. Praise God. Hallelujah. The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which was shed for you, preserve your body and soul to everlasting life. Drink the cup of
salvation and remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you and be thankful. Behold the Lamb
of God. Behold Him who takes away the sins of the world and blessed are those who are invited
to the married supper of the Lamb. This sacrament is a gift of God for the people of God. Feed on
him by faith with Thanksgiving that Christ died for you. Praise God.
Hallelujah.
We pray that you're blessed in participating in communion.
It's hard to believe we're halfway through the month of August today.
And this summer has gone by so fast.
The last third of the year is quickly coming upon us here so fast.
And so a lot of things have been happening here in the ministry,
and bigger things are ahead of us.
And we're looking forward to being able to share that with you here over the next several weeks.
And we're so excited about what God is doing here.
Rick, any final words before we depart for today?
No, other than I want to thank everybody for being with us throughout the week,
even though Doc and I have been away, and this was a pre-recorded Morning Manna,
it enabled us to go to a conference for training.
And it was essential training that we needed at this time.
And I'm very grateful that everybody participated every morning, just as a regular morning manna.
And we will be back here in the studio on Monday morning.
And you have a blessed weekend and make time to be with your father.
Set aside a place in your house and a time to meet with him.
Amen.
Praise God.
And on that note, we just want to say we love you.
Thank you so much for praying for this ministry, supporting this ministry,
in thinking of us, and participating in Morning Manna and all the activities of this ministry.
God bless you.
You're the reason why we do this.
It really, really is.
And so we're encouraged by your participation, and we love you very much.
God bless you.
We'll see you on the Monday edition of Morning Manner.
Bye-bye.
Thank you.
