Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning Manna. It's Monday, and we're beginning a new week, and we're glad that you're here with us to study the Word of God. There are people in our classroom right now in live real time 8am Eastern time from all over the world. And if you would like to be part of that live class, please join us at faith and values calm So we're in the book of Proverbs and we're in the eighth chapter and today we're going to study verses 7 through 11 so it's 7 11 today and I'm gonna pray and doc will read the word. We will begin our lesson Almighty God dear Heavenly Father Thank you for this beautiful day. We're grateful to be alive, Father, and to be saved and to be members of your family
Starting point is 00:00:53 and citizens of your kingdom. Father, we are gathered here in one accord to be taught by your Holy Spirit the depth and richness of your word. So Holy Spirit, take charge of this lesson and lead us into truth. In the name of Jesus, amen. Amen. Praise the Lord.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Welcome to Morning Man, and we're so glad to have you with us. As Rick mentioned, we have students that are checking in from all over the world, from Russia, Switzerland, Philippines, Japan, and all points across the U.S. and Canada, welcome to Morning Manor. We are continuing our study this week in Proverbs chapter 8, and we've been receiving a mega dose of wisdom every day here on Morning Manor as we've been journeying through Proverbs. So if you'll turn there with me, we're going to read Proverbs chapter 8, verses 7 through 11.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Proverbs chapter 8, verses 7 through 11. I'll be reading from the King James this morning. Verse 7, for my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing forward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than choice gold.
Starting point is 00:02:18 For wisdom is better than rubies and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. The value of wisdom today, Rick, is what we're talking about. That's right. And it's a day that gold is climbing yes in price today. Yeah, I was just checking gold prices before we came on. Yes. And a lot of people are excited because their gold holdings are going up in value. And this scripture says, wisdom is more valuable than your gold. And choice gold on that. Not just gold.
Starting point is 00:02:55 You got that ordinary gold. No, no, no, no. Choice gold. Good gold. So we'll start with verse seven. For my mouth shall speak truth and wickedness is an abomination to my lips We'll start the the beginning first half for my mouth shall speak truth the first segment of verse 7
Starting point is 00:03:22 Highlights the the inherent truthfulness of wisdom's words. It establishes her unappeachable reliability and integrity. The conjunction for connects this verse to the preceding verse, Proverbs 8 6. We studied that last Thursday. Verse 6 said, here, for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things." So now verse seven starts with four. So four is the connection to verse six. The wisdom will speak of excellent things
Starting point is 00:04:15 and the opening of my lips shall be right things. So verse seven provides the reason why wisdom's words are excellent and right, because they are characterized by absolute veracity. My mouth shall speak truth. That is a guarantee from the throne room. This is a truth. My mouth, wisdom's mouth shall speak truth. You don't have to wonder, you don't have to question whether it's accurate, whether it's always going to be true. It is always true. Wisdom's utterances, the words that come out of the mouth of wisdom, are always without exception characterized by complete honesty,
Starting point is 00:05:22 sincerity, and faithfulness to reality. You can't really separate the two, can you? No. No. Whatever comes out of wisdom's mouth is truth. Period. End of discussion. There's an emphasis on my mouth, Wisdom's mouth, my mouth. It is stating that her very being is pure and undefiled.
Starting point is 00:06:02 What comes out of her mouth is pure. There's no room for sin, no room for error, no room for ambiguity. It's truth. This is the foundational principle for discerning true wisdom from deceptive folly. Authentic wisdom always speaks truth, folly speaks lies, and perverts reality. Amen. This principle establishes wisdom's reliability, its unimpeachable integrity. It offers counsel that is entirely trustworthy and transparent and utterly free of any form
Starting point is 00:06:59 of deception. You can't say that about folly. You can't say that about temptation. Temptation speaks with deception and is not truth and is not transparent. So the commitment to truth stands in direct contrast to the words of flattery. The flattery of the tongue, much fair speech of the immoral woman that we studied in chapter seven. Her words are false, misleading, and designed to entrap, to ensnare a person. Wisdom's words are designed to set a person free.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So, this highlights the transformation the her inner purity and the divine origin. So there's a commitment. Wisdom's commitment to truth enables all who diligently follow her guidance to walk in sincerity and integrity, protect it from deception. Then we get to the second part of this verse, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. This clarifies wisdom's profound
Starting point is 00:09:03 devastation, profound contempt, detesting, condemnation of evil. Yes. It's deep. It's a profound rejection of the opposite of wisdom's words. So if wisdom is inherently pure and uncompromising, then the words of temptation and folly are the opposite and wisdom has wisdom detest what folly and temptation represents what they speak right they're they're they're enemies there's no room for for compromise
Starting point is 00:10:06 There's no room for compromise. It says, wickedness is an abomination to my lips. Profound abhorrence, complete condemnation of all evil. And that, again, you cannot restrict it to just the sexual temptation that we talked about in chapter 7. This is all evil speech, lying, deception, greed, envy. You go down the list of various sins. Wisdom detests all the words that come from the enemy. It's just an abomination to my lips, right? right When you get angry and you curse somebody Do you know how profoundly abhorrent that is in heaven? I
Starting point is 00:11:18 Want to say something I don't think anybody on in our class curses and swears at people I don't think anybody in our class curses and swears at people, but I suspect that there are members of our class who are the recipients of cursing and swearing by other people. First of all, if you are prone to swear and curse another person in your anger, that is a grave sin. And you must stop it. You're sinning with your lips. And your heart is full of anger and bitterness and just downright meanness. Okay. However, I suspect that we have members of this
Starting point is 00:12:10 class who are abused verbally and mentally, emotionally, spiritually by other people. And I want to tell you something right now. Those people do not have the right something right now. Those people do not have the right to speak those words against you. Amen. And you do not have to listen to it one more time. You are made in the likeness and the image of Almighty God. When somebody curses you with profound hatred, vulgar words, when they condemn you and shame you, they are cursing God because you are made in the likeness and image of Almighty God. He is your maker and your creator. He made your body, He created your soul, and he made you in his image and his likeness Do not listen to anyone who's cursing you amen
Starting point is 00:13:17 You do not have to receive it it's meant to destroy your self-worth to shame you to intimidate you, to demoralize you, do not listen to it. And all you have to say is when somebody's cursing you is just look at them and say, well, you're entitled to your opinion. It might be wrong, but you're entitled.
Starting point is 00:13:47 It's not only might be wrong, it is wrong. And I disagree with it. And that's not my opinion of me, but you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to my opinion. And I'm also entitled to not be in the presence of somebody who speaks to me with such contempt. Let them know you're ready to walk.
Starting point is 00:14:11 You're not gonna take it. You're not gonna accept it. You don't have to get angry. You just say, I'm done. You will not talk to me like this anymore. There's a lot of people that mistreat others with their mouth You don't have don't fight don't argue don't defend yourself Don't think I got to defend myself. I got to say no, I'm not those things. You just called me
Starting point is 00:14:40 No, you just say I disagree with you. You have your, I have mine, and I'm not going to allow you to inflict me with your wrong opinion. Right. And you are not obligated to remain in their presence either. That's right. You can simply say, I release you. Yes. Sorry. And it's interesting, Rick, give me a chance to give drink coffee there. That word abomination there, most of the time when you say that word abomination in the Old Testament, it is associated with idolatry. So if you could say in this particular proverb, wickedness is like idolatry to my lips, like the worship of another God. That's how serious wisdom takes speaking wickedness, any kind of wickedness in
Starting point is 00:15:33 our life. It's like idolatry. Yeah, so abomination is a word, it's a biblical word that is always applied to something that is utterly repugnant and loathsome to God. I mean, like the the most intense. Emotional reaction. From God to some attitude or action. When he calls an abomination, there's not another level to go to. You've hit the basement.
Starting point is 00:16:10 So wisdom is saying that people who have speak with, speak wickedness with their lips, that their words are an abomination to God. Again, when somebody's cursing you, when somebody's shaming you, when somebody is disrespecting you, when somebody is trying to emotionally wound you on purpose, deliberately trying to wound you, you can stand tall in your self-respect
Starting point is 00:16:46 and say, I am made in the likeness and the image of Almighty God, and I will not listen to those words. Yeah. You have dignity and you have self-respect. And if somebody cannot treat you with civility, then you need to remove yourself from their presence. You know, Rick, there's probably some people on Morning Manna today who are dealing with that right
Starting point is 00:17:11 now, who are probably receiving those kind of words in their lives, and they've been struggling, well, what do I do? How do I handle that? How do, you know, what is the biblical response to? Well, we're giving you the biblical response today. Yes. Stand up for your right as a child of God, for your self-worth. Don't let anybody use you as their pin cushion Or they're a voodoo doll, yeah, that's what I was gonna say Which is constantly jabbing you with needles to inflict pain don't allow that right words inflict pain
Starting point is 00:18:02 So We're gonna have people in this class who are going to be set free of emotional torment. Just watch. Watch what happens to you in the coming weeks and months. Wisdom is inherently pure, morally. And it is opposed to everything that is impure, everything that is unjust, everything that is corrupt. The two cannot be in the same room. So wisdom not only proclaims truth, but it actively exposes falsehood and evil.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Amen. Because there's no room to justify, rationalize, or minimize your sin or somebody else's sin against you. It has to be dealt with lovingly, with grace, but firm. And when somebody is cursing you, somebody is calling you names, and somebody is denigrating you, making you feel like trash, or shaming you, don't permit it.
Starting point is 00:19:38 That person is not worthy to be in your presence. They don't qualify for a relationship with you. Amen. There you go. They're not qualified to be in a relationship with you because they don't know how to have a relationship. If they knew how to have a relationship with another person, they wouldn't speak words of condemnation, cursing, shaming, condemnation, and so forth. They wouldn't do it. I never really thought about that.
Starting point is 00:20:09 If they knew how to have a relationship. Yeah. That there are minimum standards that you should have for a relationship. Not minimum. There should be standards for every relationship. And some of those should be dignity, respect. I would also add honor in there there too, where it's due. But that should be the minimum standard.
Starting point is 00:20:31 And yet we maintain relationships with people who sometimes denigrate us and put us down. And, you know, and we wave it off sometimes for day, a week, a year, decades even, until finally it's, you know, we believe the lie too. I in my own life, I've allowed people to disrespect me, speak poorly of me, and I've allowed it to go on. And I've tried like, hey, I'm a good Christian. I've got to help. I've got to try to work this out with them. Maybe I can change their opinion.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Maybe I can help them become a better person so they don't do these things. None of that works. None of it works. When has it ever worked? It has never worked. It will not work. Those kind of people don't change until God knocks them flat on their back.
Starting point is 00:21:34 So, if you think you're going to change a verbal abuser, I'm sorry. I'm not going to do it. Nope. It's going to take a work of God. That's the same kind of work of God that had to take place in your life. I had a former employee who on his first trip with me at the airport, he tossed a camera on the conveyor belt.
Starting point is 00:22:03 It was in a backpack, but an expensive camera should never go through the luggage process. You should always carry it with you. There should be a carry-on. And he tossed it. He didn't just lay it on the conveyor belt, he tossed it. And I spoke to him.
Starting point is 00:22:24 I said, we don't put cameras in the luggage system at the airport, we carry them, and we don't toss them, they're very expensive. And he actually got in my face at the airport, got right up to my nose and said, are you going to lecture me how to take care of equipment? I should have fired him right there that very moment. Should have fired him that very moment because he had no respect for me at all. Something has changed in me.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I will never tolerate this stuff again. Never ever ever will I tolerate that kind of behavior again. Rick and you're and you're teaching me too because for a lot of years I just accepted the doormat mentality you know we just take it just you know go along with it just put up with it you know you're christian you're supposed to do it right nope you're not you're not supposed to take it okay and um and that guy when when we got to our destination he almost started a fistfight with the with a uh camera production crew from a television station. Oh, yes. I remember that.
Starting point is 00:23:49 I had to discipline him on that one. I should never have kept him after that. He showed me so quickly what's in him, okay? And he was troubled the entire time he worked here. But you took it, Rick. Yeah, I accepted it and I thought I'll make him better. Yes, I love him, mama. There's my weakness.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I think I can make them better. And I can't. And that's where I'm at today in my life. I can't change these people. And not only can I not change them, I'm not even interested in trying. Because if the Lord can't change them, how am I going to change them? If they don't submit to the Lord, why are they going to change for me? That's not, there you go. They're in rebellion against God whether I'm there or not. I'm gonna listen to you. That's good. Listen to the words that come out of people's mouths.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Listen to them. If they're cursing, if they're swearing, if they're vulgar, if they are If they're swearing, if they're vulgar, if they are attacking somebody, shaming somebody, listen to them. There are people that are not qualified to have a place in your life. Verse 8, all the words in my mouth are in righteousness, there is nothing forward or perverse in them. That's pretty clear. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness, meaning that every single utterance, every piece of counsel, every piece of advice,
Starting point is 00:25:52 every proclamation that originates from wisdom's mouth is grounded in and characterized by absolute righteousness. Wisdom never repents because it doesn't have to. It doesn't have a bad day. Wisdom doesn't have a bad day. Wisdom never says, I can't believe that came out of my mouth.
Starting point is 00:26:25 The only thing that comes out of wisdom's mouth is purity. So who should we be hanging out with? You want to hang out with wisdom. None of us can say for ourselves, nothing has ever come out of my mouth that was wrong. That's a lie. So all the words in my mouth, it's emphasizing the comprehensive, consistent nature of wisdom's communication.
Starting point is 00:27:09 There's no exception, no deviation from the standard of truth. Truth and wisdom are synonymous. Wisdom doesn't have to go study truth. Wisdom is truth. Amen. Wisdom doesn't have a library of truth books. So, well, I better read up on this stuff before I say anything today. Wisdom's heart is the library.
Starting point is 00:27:42 All her words are in righteousness, meaning they are morally correct, they are perfectly just, they are ethically pure, they are in complete alignment with divine standards and God's perfect will. End of discussion. So wisdom's very being is righteous and holy and incorruptible. Wisdom never has to retract her words and say, oh, I wish I'd never said that. I wish I never hurt that person. I wish I didn't cuss. I wish I didn't sayuss. I wish I didn't
Starting point is 00:28:30 Say that ugly greedy statement wisdom never has to say those words All the words all the words are Pure there is nothing forward or perverse in them. Foward, twisted, crooked. Foward doesn't mean, I mean, we, a lot of, I used to think throw word meant vulgar curse words, but it actually means twisted. Yes. There's nothing twisted in wisdom's words, meaning there's no deviation from truth and honesty and straightforwardness.
Starting point is 00:29:25 What wisdom speaks is absolute truth. But remember, the froward woman, the tempting woman, her words were deceptive, misleading. So froward and perverse means that there is nothing morally twisted, corrupted, distorted, or evil in any of her words, not in the slightest way. We'll go down to verse three. To the discerning, all of them are right, they are upright, to those who have found knowledge. So, we'll begin with the first part to the discerning, all of them are upright.
Starting point is 00:30:35 This is telling us that it's highlighting just the inherent moral correctness of wisdom's words. To the discerning, all of them are right. They are upright to those who have found knowledge. Amen. They're plain. I like the way it just says it there. the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to
Starting point is 00:31:10 the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the right to the So, those men and women who sincerely, earnestly seek to please God, they just naturally discern
Starting point is 00:31:32 that these words are right. They don't have to wonder. They don't have to think about, should I follow this advice? Should these be my principles to live by? They just know these are right words. These are words coming from God's throne. All of them are right. That means every aspect, every principle,
Starting point is 00:31:59 every piece of counsel that emanates from wisdom is correct. It's accurate. It is aligned with God's nature and his will. God the Father doesn't have to call wisdom in and say, hey, you got that wrong. You messed up. You're teaching things that aren't true. That never happens.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Wisdom is the expression of God's principles, of his nature. And there's absolute integrity. There's flawlessness in wisdom's guidance. There are no hidden flaws No moral compromises But again that that stands in stark contrast To the deceptive distorted
Starting point is 00:32:56 morally ambiguous speech of foolishness Yes Which is never right never align with god's will So cultivating discernment And understanding heart Discernment is an understanding heart Understanding the principles of wisdom and how to apply
Starting point is 00:33:27 them to your daily life. It's that act of cultivating this discernment. If you cultivate something, you're working it like a farmer or a gardener, you're cultivating it. Gardens and farms require effort. Gardens and farms require effort. There's hoeing and watering and pulling weeds and adding nutrients. So we are to cultivate discernment. In other words, to cultivate is a process of encouraging something to grow. So we are to encourage each of us, we are to actively encourage the growth
Starting point is 00:34:15 of discernment, which is an understanding heart. If we want to, if we desire to truly appreciate, embrace, and internalize the word of God. Second segment, they are upright to those who have found knowledge. They are upright. That says that this emphasizes the integrity, the honesty, the moral rectitude of wisdom's words. They are in perfect vertical alignment with divine standards from heaven. Remember perverse is twisted. Wisdom's words are vertically upright. They're not twisted. There are no curves. They're vertically upright. They
Starting point is 00:35:27 are in alignment with God's standards. So wisdom's advice and counsel is not only factually correct, conceptually correct, it's also ethically impeccable and morally unassailable. In every regard, you can't find any blemish in the words of wisdom. Amen. We can't say that for ourselves, that every word that comes out of our mouth has no blemish, but wisdom can say that. No marks, no blemish. So what this is teaching us is that if we're going to be disciples, if we're going to be citizens of the kingdom,
Starting point is 00:36:26 there has to be an active pursuit of truth that's marked by diligence and a sincere desire to learn the earnest persistent seekers of knowledge, and that our diligent pursuit of wisdom and knowledge will confirm the integrity and righteousness of wisdom's guidance. In other words, the old saying, the proof is in the pudding, right? Meaning, well the evidence is when you put the pudding in your mouth, you'll know whether it's good pudding or not. Well, the same is with wisdom's advice. When it's in your heart, you'll know.
Starting point is 00:37:33 You'll know it is good and there's nothing wrong with it at all. Amen. Therefore that knowledge then gives you confidence to continue trusting wisdom's advice. to continue trusting wisdom's advice. When you know, hey so far and it's a hundred percent right. I wonder if it'll be a hundred percent right tomorrow and you go another day and you apply wisdom and hey that was a hundred percent right. You get to the point where you just say, hey, I have a feeling that everything that wisdom says is 100% correct. You're no longer needing proof, no longer needing encouragement
Starting point is 00:38:15 to believe. You just know it. The proof is in the pudding. You put it in your mouth, it tastes good. I would get down to verse 10. Receive my instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than choice gold. Oh boy, now this one. Gold's over $3,400 an ounce today. Yes. If I put a Bible in front of a person and put an ounce of gold and said, choose one, which one would most people choose?
Starting point is 00:39:03 They'd grab the gold. This says, wisdom's instruction is more valuable than the best gold you can find, the purest gold you can find. So this is a declaration of wisdom's So this is a declaration of wisdom's immeasurable worth. You can't measure it. That we are to accept her teachings and prioritize them above all common material wealth and possessions. Where this calls for a revolution in our mind. In our mouth. What's that, Doc? In our mouth.
Starting point is 00:39:56 In our mouth. Well, if you revolutionize your mind, eventually your mouth will be revolutionized. We have to remind ourselves every day that wisdom is the most valuable thing, the most valuable possession that we have in this life. Wisdom, God's instruction to us. It's telling us to willingly accept, embrace, and internalize wisdoms, guidance, discipline, and correction. You got to accept discipline and correction too, because wisdom's wise.
Starting point is 00:40:42 because wisdom's wise. So instruction, the word instruction here means wisdom's life shaping counsel, the principles of righteousness, the discipline that leads to spiritual maturity and upright living. That's instruction. And not silver. The book of Proverbs is establishing a hierarchy of value. We've got silver, we've got gold, and at the top is wisdom. Even today, silver is less valuable than gold.
Starting point is 00:41:32 It's always been that way. So silver has always been a medium of exchange, a common form of wealth. We used to have real silver in our money. We used to have gold coins too, but silver was less valuable. So this is telling us that true lasting wealth, genuine security, fulfillment in life cannot be found in accumulating worldly possessions, but in acquiring, storing, stockpiling, and using divine wisdom. And second part, and knowledge rather than choice gold. So instruction is more valuable than silver, and knowledge is more valuable than gold.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Amen. It's interesting how the Word of God separates silver and gold and instruction and knowledge and links each one. That instruction is linked to silver, which has less value. It does have value, but it has less value than gold. And knowledge is linked to gold, to choice gold. So you can have instruction, you can be taught, but if you don't know what to do with it, what good is it? That's where the knowledge comes through, comes in. So knowledge in this verse is referring to deep understanding, discernment,
Starting point is 00:43:51 a comprehensive grasp of truth that flows directly from the throne in heaven. Again, a person can have instruction in these principles, but not have full knowledge. So choice code signifies the most valuable, refined, most highly coveted, worldly treasure. And we're being told that the Word of God wisdom is more valuable than the best gold you can find on planet Earth. Again, very few people believe that but they don't they don't live it out Um A lot of christians I'm not saying they're bad people They stockpile gold and they've been diligent in buying gold for years, but they don't know scriptures.
Starting point is 00:45:14 I've seen it, dog. I've seen it in my lifetime. They go to church, but they don't have any stockpile of scriptures in their heart. But they do have, they do have gold and silver in their home or in a bank safety deposit box. You store what you value. Nothing wrong with storing the silver in the gold. What's wrong is neglecting to store what's more valuable than the silver and the gold It's okay to store silver and gold It's not okay to ignore storing the Word of God in your heart That's the mistake
Starting point is 00:46:03 and then verse 11 says for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Again, we have a word, a sentence again, a scripture that begins with four. That means it links verse 11 to verse 10. It's justifying why you should diligently receive instruction and knowledge rather than silver or choice gold. Four, for wisdom is better than rubies, better than corals and pearls and precious gems and stones.
Starting point is 00:46:57 It's comparing wisdom to things that are rare, extremely valuable, precious gems that people would pay a high price to own. Again, if you opened up a box of the most beautiful, perfect pearls and said, would you like this box of pearls or would you like this book called the Holy Bible? Which one are people going to grab? They're going to grab the pearls because they know there's a monetary value to it. They see no value to the book. That's just a book. It's an old book written a long time ago. These are gems. These are precious stones. These are things that I can make money with it. But wisdom will make the hours of your day more profitable.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Wisdom will have you make money while you're just thinking about her. Ponder that one today. Just ponder that. As you spend time meditating on wisdom, wisdom is generating revenue for you. Wisdom makes the hours of your day more profitable. What does that look like? I mean, I use sales. A person that's in the sales industry,
Starting point is 00:48:31 selling a product or service. They have a whole sales team that leaves in the morning or goes online, however they're selling their services and their products. At the end of the days, some have nothing. They had no success at all. Some have a few sales. But then there's one that hit the jackpot. That's what wisdom can do for you.
Starting point is 00:49:02 While everybody else was out there sweating trying to make something happen, wisdom said, I already made it happen for you. So that was that's the way Adam and Eve were intended to live in the garden. Adam was not meant to have an aching back and and a sweating brow. He got the sweating brow when he got kicked out of the garden. God said you're gonna sweat now dude. You're gonna work. You're gonna find out what it's like to make something grow. You're gonna be hoeing, your back's gonna hurt, you're gonna be moving rocks. You're going to sweat. Adam didn't sweat in the garden.
Starting point is 00:49:49 You know why? Because God made everything grow for him. That's right. All Adam had to do was keep the garden and pick the fruit. The hardest work he did all day was harvesting what God made grow. That's the way God wants us to live every day. Be focused on him and let him make things grow. And our activities is harvesting what he has made to grow in our lives. wisdom is more valuable than rubies, jewels.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Wisdom is enduring, it's incorruptible. But thieves, every day thieves steal jewels. Every day. Somebody today in the world will be robbed of their jewels, their jewels, their steal jewels every day. Somebody today in the world will be robbed of their jewels, their gems, their precious stones, their gold and their silver. And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it
Starting point is 00:51:09 Everything in the world there's nothing on the planet that's more valuable than wisdom. That's a sweeping bold statement It says wisdom has absolute superiority over everything on the planet. All the things that may be desired. That means wisdom is better and more valuable than than every conceivable aspiration, goal, plan, possession, wealth, fame, power, pleasure, whatever. Wisdom's better. There's nothing to be compared to it.
Starting point is 00:52:04 Nothing even gets close to standing to it. It's so far. Everything else is out of its league. Yes. Like you get wisdom standing there, shining and these tiny little things of the world next to it is they're not even in the same class, not even close. Wisdom doesn't say, oh, I've got a competitor. Wisdom looks down and goes, what's that little thing?
Starting point is 00:52:37 Oh, it's gold, I see. Nothing compares, absolutely nothing compares to wisdom. Okay, doc, we're just about at the end of the hour. Let's wrap it up here for today. Well, great lesson today, Rick. One question that should be on everyone's mind today, do you value wisdom more than financial gain in your life? I know we have a lot of
Starting point is 00:53:07 our class members who are, let's just say they're more mature in age than maybe some others, and they worry about things like retirement accounts and things like that. Do you spend as much time seeking God's wisdom as you do managing your 401k or your 403b and you know things like that. And so because I know people who spend hours a week trying to figure out their finances, but they spend no time at all seeking wisdom in their life. And so, and Doc, let's put the two together. Let's put the two together. You need wisdom to manage your investments. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Without wisdom, you're going to make a foolish decision. Yeah. So don't get the cart before the horse here. Yeah. See the wisdom first. Yeah. There's nothing wrong with managing your investments. What's wrong is managing your investments without
Starting point is 00:54:07 wisdom. Right. Get the wisdom and then God guides you in making decisions about your investments and other affairs of life. I notice Doc Lorraine said this is her first time in the book of Proverbs. Well, welcome Lorraine. This is great. You're not going to be the same by the time we finish up Proverbs. No. And one other thing today too, Rick, is we talked about receiving abuse at the hands of others. And a couple people brought out, what about the passage about turning the other cheek? The turning the other cheek had to do with persecution the passage about turning the other cheek. The turning the other cheek had to do with persecution and not with personal relationships or anything. So there is no reason for anyone to suffer abuse at the hands of somebody, especially somebody close to them, whether
Starting point is 00:54:56 it's sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse of any kind. There's no reason for anyone, man or woman, to remain in, you know, in a conversation receiving abuse. There's just no reason for it. You do not have to. Turning the other cheek has nothing to do with that. So I just want to make that clear. Like we said earlier, you're not somebody's pin cushion or voodoo doll. Right. Where they get pleasure inflicting pain on you You do not have to tolerate that and you do not have see What they're doing is sucking energy out of your soul And you do not have to feed them amen, okay starve them
Starting point is 00:55:50 not have to feed them. Starve them. Starve them. Do not put them on a diet. Do not allow them to suck the energy out of your soul. Amen. Put them on a starvation diet. Yes. That's right. Praise God. They'll go look for somebody else. Yeah. That's exactly what they will do once they realize they can't get any energy out of your soul. They will now search for somebody else. Yes, praise God. Okay everybody, thank you. We'll be back here tomorrow. Yes, Tuesday edition of Morning Manic. Come and join us. God bless you. We love you and we'll see you then.
