TRUNEWS with Rick Wiles - Morning Manna - Jan 16, 2026 - John 6:32-33 - Drawn by the Father: Bread from Heaven 10-2026
Episode Date: January 16, 2026In this Faith Friday edition of Morning Manna, the focus turns to Jesus’ teaching on the True Bread from heaven in John 6. Christ confronts murmuring hearts, corrects false expectations about provis...ion, and declares that life comes only through what the Father gives and draws to Himself. The crowd looks backward to manna; Jesus points upward to God’s present work and forward to eternal life. Rick Wiles and Doc Burkhart examine why spiritual hunger cannot be satisfied by signs alone, how the Father draws people to the Son, and why Jesus Himself is the living Bread sent from heaven to give life to the world. Well, good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning, Madam. My name is Rick Wiles. My co-teacher in this class is Dr. Raymond Burkhard. And today is Faith Friday. Every Friday, we dedicate the lesson to the topic of faith. And the other thing that we do is that we go to the Lord's table for Holy Communion. And so we would invite you to participate today in the Lord's Supper. So all you need is bread and your choice of grape juice or red wine.
I love faith Fridays because saints from around the world gather to participate in the Lord's Supper.
What are the qualifications to be in this communion service?
Well, I'll ask you two questions.
Have you been born again?
And number two, have you been baptized into Christ's church?
If the answer is yes to both questions, you are invited to participate with us in this
virtual worldwide Holy Communion Service.
As I said, all you need is bread and your choice of grape juice or red wine.
So let's enter into the presence of the Lord by praying the Lord's prayer together.
When's the last time you join with other Christians to pray the Lord's prayer?
And when's the last time you've been in a communion service?
I hope morning manna becomes a rich part of your life.
Let's pray the Lord's prayer.
Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from our daily bread.
evil for thine is the kingdom the power and the glory forever amen what do you do at home or at a restaurant
before you are seated at the dinner table well most likely you wash your hands to remove the dirt
from your contact with the affairs of life during the day likewise before we sit at
the Lord's table for communion, we must wash our souls to remove the dirt accumulated from our contact with the world.
I'm going to ask Dr. Raymond Burkhart to lead us in the prayer for purity as we approach the Lord's table.
Almighty God, to you, all our hearts are open and all desires known.
And from you, no secrets are hidden.
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen.
Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ says.
You shall love the Lord your God.
With all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like it.
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.
Let us confess the symbol of our faith in the words of the Apostles' Creed.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord,
who is conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.
From there, he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God.
Most merciful God.
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, indeed, by what we have done
and by what we have not done.
We have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have not loved our neighbors as ourself.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us,
that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways.
the glory of your name. Amen. Amen. Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who in his great mercy
has promised forgiveness of sins, to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith,
turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen
you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life. The Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Now hear the word of God to all who truly turn to Him.
1. John
1, verse 9 says,
if we confess our sins,
he is faithful
and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.
Amen.
Almighty God, in your tender mercy,
you gave your only begotten son,
Jesus Christ, to suffer death upon the
cross for our redemption.
He offered himself and made once for all time
a perfect and sufficient sacrifice
for the sins of the
whole world. He instituted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he commanded us to
continue until he comes again. And so Father, we ask you to bless and sanctify with your word
and Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most blessed body and
blood. Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed once for all upon the cross. Therefore,
let us keep the feast. Alleluia. On the night that he was betrayed,
Our Lord Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, take eat. This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. The body of our Lord Jesus Christ was given for you. Preserve your body and soul to everlasting life. This is the bread of heaven. Take and eat in remembrance that Christ died for you. After supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
He gave it to them saying, drink this all of you, for this is the blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.
Thank you, Lord.
The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for you, preserve your body, and soul to everlasting life.
Drink the cup of salvation and remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you, and be thankful.
Behold the Lamb of God.
Behold Him who takes away the sin.
of the world and blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
The sacrament is the gift of God for the people of God.
Feed on him by faith with Thanksgiving that Christ died for you.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious
body and blood of Jesus Christ, your son and our Savior, and for assuring us in these
Holy mysteries that we are living members of the body of Christ and heirs of your eternal kingdom.
And now, Father, send us out into the world to do the work you have given us to do,
to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord, to him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit,
be honor and glory now and forever. Amen. Amen. Well, Rick, today is Faith Friday.
So exciting to have Faith Friday here.
What faith lesson can we take away from the Lord's Supper today?
Well, about today, we're going to resume our study of the sixth chapter of the gospel according to St. John.
Last week, we focused on verses 26 to 31.
What we remember about last week is that Jesus reprimanded the people who saw him feed 5,000 people in the wilderness.
but they demanded to know what they must do to do the works of God.
And they also demanded that Jesus perform another sign so that they might believe in him.
In verses 30 and 31, the crowd said,
What then do you do for a sign that we may see and believe you?
What work do you do?
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written.
and he gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
Well, how did Jesus respond?
What did he say to their demand?
Dr. Burkhart is going to read today's Bible verses John chapter 6 verses 32 and 33.
So reading from the King James today, John chapter 6 verse 32, Jesus therefore said to them,
most certainly I tell you, it wasn't Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven.
but my father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
Verse 33,
for the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven
and gives life to the world.
God bless the reading of his word today.
Okay.
These verses are appropriate on Faith Friday
because we just participated in the Lord's supper.
We just ate the flesh and drank the blood of Jesus Christ.
We just ate the bread of heaven, the bread of life.
And that's why we're focusing on these scriptures today.
We're going to begin with verse 32.
Then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven,
but my father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
The Aramaic Peshitta version says, Jesus said, truly, truly, I say to you,
Moses did not give you bread from heaven, but my father gives you the true.
bread from heaven. So we'll start with the first section. Verily, verily, I say unto you.
Modern version would be most certainly, I tell you this. Jesus started his response. Remember,
they just ask him, what are the works that we need to do, the works of God that we must do?
And what sign are you going to do? We already saw you the 5,000.
you know, a handful of loaves of bread and some fish, do something else.
And maybe we might believe in you.
What's this next sign that you're going to do?
Jesus answered, yeah, I would answer it differently, but, you know, Doc, he's God, all right?
He kept his cool.
He didn't say what I would say, all right?
He said verily, verily, okay, well, what does that mean?
Listen up.
He said it twice.
Did he stutter?
Did he say the same word twice because he'll stutter?
No.
He repeated verily to drive home a vital point.
The double verity, or verily, the double verily,
underscores the certainty and the importance of Jesus' words.
demanding full attention from the crowd that was listening to his voice.
He used verily twice to introduce a solemn and authoritative declaration
that alerted the hearers, the men and women who were standing there,
hearing the voice of Jesus, he alerted them that a divine truth was about to be revealed.
So whenever you're reading the scriptures,
And there is a verily, verily, whenever the Lord uses the same words twice,
that's a message to all of us.
Pay attention.
The next sentence is going to be incredibly important.
You don't want to miss it.
So he's marking the introduction of a profound spiritual truth
transcends human understanding.
And he affirmed his divine authority to make this statement.
So he spoke a solemn preface to correct misconceptions that the Jews had
and to introduce proof against their false arguments.
Yes.
And this phrase that verily,
veryly stresses that the following statement is dependable
and from God himself.
And it's affirming,
I'm going to deliver some absolute truth here.
And it's going to deny human assumptions
and point to the heavenly revelation.
Now, he used that double-verify
to shift people's attention
from their earthly demand, food,
to heavenly realities that required faith to understand.
And that means Jesus knew the people
had spiritual preconceptions and air.
errors about both the scripture and about the miracles of God.
And it also tells us that Jesus is speaking with the authority of one
who knows the Heavenly Father's will.
That's because the trium God, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are one.
And in the second segment there, it says that Moses gave you that bread from heaven.
Moses gave it to you.
Gave you not that bread from heaven, rather.
because they would say that, well, Moses our father, he brought manna down from heaven.
No, that's not the case to all.
Jesus is correcting them on this, isn't he?
Absolutely.
So this segment of this verse, verse 32, it contrasts Moses' role with the true source of spiritual bread.
As you said, Doc, he was correcting the Jews misunderstanding about the manna that fed,
the wandering Hebrews in the wilderness for 40 years.
Jesus knew the Jews revered Moses as the miracle worker.
Now, they believe that God brought down the bread, the manna.
But I'm going to introduce something to you, a doctrine that in just a moment.
and explain this doctrine to you of what Jesus was trying to, trying, he did, he confronted this doctrine.
All right.
So their faith was in the merit of Moses, in the goodness of Moses.
Right.
Even though God declared in Exodus 16, 4, behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you.
Moses himself foresaw a misconception would arise someday.
He said, this is Exodus 1615.
This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.
He was very emphatic about it.
It wasn't Moses.
It was the Lord.
Almighty God, Yahweh, who gave the manna to eat.
So in Deuteronomy 8 verses 3, Moses teaches
that God humbled Israel by letting them hunger.
And then he fed the manna that he might make you know
that man does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Jesus quoted Moses, but it was Jesus who gave the words to Moses to speak.
That's right.
So, I'm going to let you, I'm going to hand us off to you,
briefly explain this concept of the merits of Moses.
All right.
Well, in classic rabbinic writings like the Talmud,
the merits of Moses refer to that 40-year duration
of the miracle of manna in the wilderness.
Now, first of all, generally, this doctrine doesn't dispute
that God was the source of the heavenly bread,
but basically what they're teaching is
that ongoing provision
of manna during the 40 years in the desert was granted based on the merit of Moses.
In other words, God sent the manna in the beginning, but for the sake of Moses,
because Moses was faithful to God, the Lord continued to send manna for 40 years.
Another way of saying it would be the manna would have stopped after the initial appearance
if it wasn't for Moses.
So therefore, the miracle is linked to the spirit.
spiritual merits of one man, Moses, God's faithful messenger. That's where they come from on this.
But there's more to it than that, isn't there, Rick?
Yes. In the Jewish theology, there is a doctrine called the merits of Moses.
And as Doc explained, the Jews believe, and they still do today, most of them, that the manna continued for 40 years.
It wasn't that Moses himself brought down the manna,
that God brought down the manna.
It was because of Moses
that God continued to bring down the manna for 40 years.
It's called the merits of Moses.
Jesus is confronting that religious error.
He's saying to them,
you think it's because of the merits of Moses.
I got news for you.
I'm going to introduce something.
That's where he gets this verily, verily.
Hey, I'm about to introduce something amazing here.
Jesus taught to Jews that Moses was merely an instrument,
that God alone provided the manna.
He thereby refuted claims of the merits of Moses.
Right.
I mean, that was considered blasphemy.
He explained to the Jews that the manna in the days of Moses
provided physical substance
that could
could not preserve their souls
from spiritual death.
Manna was temporal.
It was for the body,
not the eternal bread for their souls.
So the manna in the wilderness
was a type.
It was not the true bread.
It symbolized
Christ's doctrine.
But the manna
and Moses's day was inferior.
And that's what Jesus is introducing here.
Yes.
You revere Moses, and you're sure.
He was a faithful servant of the Lord.
But your faith is in Moses.
Yes.
One greater than Moses is here.
And a bread greater than manna is here.
That will keep your soul alive forever.
So what Jesus is showing here is that the Old Testament miracles were limited
and that they were preparatory for something greater, the arrival of Jesus Christ.
More than anything, Jesus taught that Moses' miracle was not superior to Jesus' miracle.
You've got to understand that people there,
at that day, they were looking at Jesus as a Moses wannabe.
They were not right, Doc?
I mean, they were like, give us something else.
Do another, do another.
Maybe we'll believe your half the man Moses was.
Right.
Moses was not greater than Jesus.
Jesus is Lord of Moses.
Amen.
One greater than Moses was speaking to them,
and they did not.
perceive it. That's the sad thing. They were not aware that the son of God was talking to them.
Think about two things that Jesus is challenging here, Rick. First of all, he's challenging
that the ultimate authority is not Moses, but God. They're invested in Moses, but not the father.
They identify with Moses, but not the father. And then he challenges the greatest miracle,
the greatest of miracles
that may be coming through the Red Sea
but the greatest of miracles is the manna
and they're here Jesus is saying
you know what?
The manna that Moses gave
guess what? It doesn't even compare
to the manna that the Father wants to give
and so this manna
that Moses, in their minds that
Moses brought to them
they wouldn't even say God brought it, they wouldn't say
Moses brought it. That
came from the clouds, but the manna that Jesus is bringing comes from a place above the clouds,
a higher heaven. And Jesus was seeking to convey to the Jewish crowd begging for more miracles
that this earthly bread perishes. Even manna perishes. Manna would perish every day,
but the heavenly bread endures.
And so the manna back in Moses' day was not the true manna in the sense of ultimate spiritual nourishment.
Let's look at the third segment of this verse.
But my father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
This phrase reveals the father as the giver of the genuine life-giving bread, his only begotten son.
Jesus Christ himself, who came from the highest heaven.
He didn't come from the clouds. He came from the highest heaven.
The Father provides Christ as the true bread, superior to manna.
He's offering eternal life to whomever will eat it.
And you and I just ate it a few minutes ago.
Yes.
Do you understand the significance of what we just participated in
a few moments ago.
Jesus Christ is the minister of his heavenly father.
He's feeding believers today with bread from heaven to lead them to incorruptible life.
He's been doing this for thousands of years, and we just participated in it a few minutes ago.
So the true bread is Christ's sacrifice and his doctrine.
Amen.
It preserves our body.
and our soul eternally.
This heavenly bread
is the genuine
divine support for the soul.
It's designed.
It's created.
It is therefore
it is meant
for man's deepest need.
Which is communion with God
to be reconciled with God
for eternal life
to be brought back
into fellowship with our maker. Right. Now, what's happening here is Christ is revealing himself as
the manna from heaven. We call this in Christian theology an anti-type. Christ is the anti-type of manna.
What does that mean? Christ himself is pure. Christ himself is sweet. Christ himself is all-sufficient
for all believers. And it's given as a gift of grace.
not on the basis of anyone's merit.
Certainly not Moses's merit, that's for sure, or anyone else's merit.
It's available to all who receive it by grace.
And this bread, Christ, descends from heaven with the nourishment for eternal life.
And so this symbolizes salvation through faith beyond just the daily temporal provision
that ordinary bread delivers.
and it's far more valuable than Moses's manna as it saves from spiritual death.
So Jesus, during the communion here, we're administering his flesh during Holy Communion.
And it's in equal portions for all.
One person doesn't get a bigger piece of bread than someone else.
One doesn't get a bigger cup of wine than someone else.
No, it's all equal.
It's all the same in equal portions.
And that emphasizes that humility and that unity
that we're supposed to have in Christ.
Amen.
So to summarize verse 32,
Jesus redirected the people's attention
from physical miracles to spiritual faith.
That's why we're studying this on Faith Friday.
He demonstrated that true satisfaction
from the Father's gift is Jesus Christ.
The contrast highlights the superiority of the new covenant over the old covenant
with Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of types like manna.
There are a lot of people in a Christian church today
that are waiting on old covenant prophecies to be fulfilled.
My friends, they've all been fulfilled.
Yes.
They were fulfilled in the birth, the life, the death, the burial, the resurrection, and the ascension of Jesus Christ.
Don't keep going back to the old covenant looking for prophecies to be fulfilled.
He fulfilled them all.
He kept all of them.
He gave Israel everything God promised.
Yes.
everything. We're in the new covenant age, not the old covenant, as believers. We are being instructed
to seek eternal nourishment in Christ, not in pursuing signs and wonders and miracles.
As we see too often, I believe in signs and wonders and miracles and I believe in it. But I don't
pursue it.
Right.
Pursue Christ.
signs and wonders follow those who believe. They follow the preaching of the gospel. The believers
are not supposed to be following the signs and wonders. We're still getting this all messed up today.
Oh, well look at verse 33. For the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world.
Well, look at the first part, where the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven.
Who is the bread of God? That's easy. It's Jesus Christ himself.
He's the genuine heavenly sustenance provided by our heavenly Father, far superior to the manna in Moses' day.
Christ is called the bread of God to distinguish him for.
from common bread, showing His excellence as God's own gift for our spiritual nourishment.
He comes down from heaven, cometh down from heaven, not from the clouds like manna,
but from the eternal kingdom of God, the source of true life.
This descent highlights his divine origin.
He has life in himself.
And he is sent by the Father to be the author of life to us.
The freeze corrects the Jews, their focus on physical bread.
He points them and us to spiritual reality.
As Doc said, Christ is the antiteite of the manna.
He's pure and he's sufficient for all today.
Yes.
Now, Christ is the bread of God because He's God's only-begotten Son.
Moses was not God's only-begotten Son.
God loved Moses, but God had one son, Jesus Christ.
It's only through faith in Christ that souls are made alive to live forever.
So this coming down that Jesus is talking about here emphasizes his voluntary incarnation.
He wasn't forced out of heaven.
wasn't sentenced to earth. He left Heavenly Glory to become food for hungry sinners. And unlike
the manna that was provided in the wilderness, which was temporary and would disappear at the end of the
day, every day, unless you only had enough for one day. But this bread, this bread is eternal.
It's right near us and nourishes us for an incorruptible life. And Christ alone is the one who is
perfectly fitted for man's deepest needs. Only Christ can provide genuine support for the soul
against the things that fade here on this earth, perishing earthly supplies. Every piece of bread on
this earth, Rick, will spoil eventually. But that eternal bread doesn't. And so this identifies Jesus
as that true heavenly bread. The singular person who embodies God's provision,
for eternal life.
You're right.
Now, Doc, probably a McDonald's hamburger bun.
We'll give it a run for the money
because they'll probably survive 30 years
without corroding and corrupting.
But it doesn't save, Rick.
It doesn't save you.
It does not save you.
The second part of this verse is
and giveth life unto the world.
This part of the verse reveals the purpose of the heavenly bread
to impart spiritual and eternal life universally
to those who will receive it,
who will believe in Christ and receive the free gift of faith.
Salvation is free, but you have to receive it.
God's not going to stuff it down anybody's throat.
the bread of heaven is there for you to eat
but he's not going to open your mouth and force you to eat it
you have to receive it
there are people right now watching us for the first time
and you're not saved and you need to make that decision
you're going to receive the gift
you're going to receive the gift of salvation it's just as simple
believe on the name of Jesus Christ
repent of your sins believe in the name of Jesus Christ
and receive the gift of salvation
it's just that simple
you don't have
if you want to make it difficult
you can get religious about it
religion will make it difficult
right but faith makes it very simple
Christ gives spiritual life
he's the author
the supporter the maintainer
of that life in ups the believers
he gives eternal life
a right to it
he makes us qualified
the meatness for us
He nourishes us for this eternal life.
Through this physical life, he nourishes our soul.
What we participated in at the beginning of this morning man a lesson was Jesus Christ himself today fed your soul.
You didn't eat a cracker and drink some grape juice.
Right.
If that's all you did, there was no faith in it.
If you had faith, you ate.
the flesh of Jesus and drank the blood of Jesus.
And Jesus himself, the Son of God, this very day, this Friday,
fed your soul.
If you participated in the Lord's supper with us,
you were fed by God.
Your soul was fed by God.
Once you get this revelation inside of you,
it's never the same.
You can't ever do communion again and be the same.
You understand what's taking place.
God is feeding your soul.
He's keeping your soul
nourished in this world
preparing it for the eternal life.
So this life
is for the world.
This life, this gift of life
that he's offering it is for the whole world.
It wasn't just for the Jews.
It certainly was meant for them.
It was meant for everybody.
for the Gentiles, for all the non-Jews in the world.
This is the amazing message of the gospel.
God threw the doors open of Israel.
He said, hey, everybody's welcome to be in Israel now.
See, that messes up a lot of people's theology today.
Because true Israel, true Israel is not a political state.
It's not a little country in the Middle East.
True Israel is the people of God.
God didn't abolish Israel, but people of God.
He made it bigger.
He supersized it.
Amen.
You've got people today trying to create greater Israel, a big country.
That's not God's plan.
God created greater Israel 2,000 years ago.
Amen.
And he invited you and me in it.
He looked around and said, there's a whole bunch of, you know what,
sinners out there.
I'm just going to invite them in.
Yeah.
I tell you what I'm going to do.
I'm going to save them too.
We're going to save everybody.
Go out there and tell everybody the gospel.
There's nobody too low to get in inside now.
So this gift is to the elect in all ages, in all places of the world,
which demonstrates the universal scope.
of his saving work on the cross.
He saved.
He died for the whole world.
For God so loved the world,
he gave His only begotten's.
The message is awesome, Doc.
Yes.
Go ahead. I'll let you talk.
Well, this bread that comes down from heaven, Rick,
nourishes the soul to a blessed immortality.
Christ himself is quickening the dead and sin.
and sustains them through that manna that comes down from heaven.
He gave his whole life to the world for God's elect.
Jews, Gentiles, every part of the globe.
And this isn't just a one-day thing.
You're not saved for a day like the Moses manna did.
No, this is eternal.
This life is abundant and it's eternal.
No one who feeds on him will ever perish.
saves from spiritual death.
And Christ is greatly superior to manna.
His efficacy extends to all who believe, granting everlasting life.
And so once again, this verse, verse 33, is pointing to the cross.
He's giving his life for the world, securing redemption for all who come to him.
Amen.
So what are we learning here?
32 or I should say
verse 33 builds
on verse 32
by defining the true bread
that is not a thing, it's a person
who descended from heaven
and gives life
this verse shifts from the temporal
miracles of feeding
thousands in the wilderness
Moses fed millions in the wilderness with manna.
Jesus fed thousands with a few loaves and some fit.
But he's shifting the attention,
the focus from these earthly, worldly, physical miracles
to eternal salvation.
So the verses are calling upon all people
to hunger for Jesus Christ and to hunger for Him alone.
don't share him with other hungers,
hunger for him alone.
The bread of God that satisfies the deepest longings,
the deepest needs of your soul,
offering life to a world through faith in Christ,
what he did for us on the cross.
What we're learning here,
and we're going to see it in next week's lesson,
It foreshadows Jesus saying the words, I am.
That comes out in verse 35.
You know, the Jews had heard that before.
I am.
God identified himself in the old covenant as I am.
Jesus identified himself as God when he said, I am.
I am that bread.
I am the bread of life.
He is the bread.
And eating him, which we just did at the beginning of this lesson,
brings never-ending satisfaction to our souls.
By eating him and drinking his blood,
our souls are nourished in this life,
prepared for the next life
that when we leave this world,
will leave in peace knowing that our souls are in good condition
and that we're going to make that transition over to the next light
and that on the day of judgment on resurrection day
we will be resurrected and we're going to learn this in some future lessons
we're going to stay in the book of john for several weeks
because jesus said if you don't eat this bread if you don't drink this blood
there's no life in you
but he said
if you eat my flesh and drink my blood
I will raise you up on the last day
he said promise
he said I if you eat my flesh
and drink my blood I will raise you up on the
last if you're concerned about where you're going to be
on the day of judgment
Jesus gives you the solution
Amen
eat his flesh and drink his blood
with faith
faith in what he did for us on the cross
faith in the resurrection
faith in the second coming
and he said I give him a word
I'll raise you up on the last day
I'll wrap this up let's take a look at
it was some of the
the old Bible
scholars and commentators and pastors
and theologians said
many many years ago
centuries ago
Matthew Henry
The bread of God is he
Which cometh down from heaven
And giveth life unto the world
Christ is the bread of God
He is to the soul
What bread is to the body
Nourishes and supports
The spiritual life
Then John Calvin said
The bread from heaven is spiritual
The heavenly bread is that
Which hath come down from heaven
To give life to the world
Yes
John Gill
added this, for the bread of God
is he which cometh down from heaven
and giveth life into the world.
What kind of life?
A spiritual life. An internal life.
To all the people of God in all
parts of world and such
extensive virtue
and efficacy is Christ.
Albert Barnes said that the bread of God is that
which comes down from heaven.
Genuine support for the soul
opposing perishing
supplies like earthly manna.
and then Adam Clark had this saying about that manna that comes down from heaven.
Christ's death provides salvation beyond the temporal supply that Moses had.
You know, that manna that was in the wilderness, Rick,
I've said this a couple times, lasted a day.
Unless it was on the Sabbath, then it lasted the day before the Sabbath,
then it lasted two days.
but every bit of manna perished, every bit of manna perished.
But you are believing in a manna that will never perish, that will never rock,
that will never fail to sustain.
That's good for more than just today, but it's good for all eternity.
I'm glad I have manna.
It's fresh every day.
Every day.
The bread of heaven.
Whole life.
Heaven.
Whole life.
Yeah.
I hope this has been a blessing to you.
Amen.
I have a lot of excitement in me about what God is going to do with this ministry morning manna.
This year in 2026.
I'm just entering this year full of excitement.
I really believe this Bible study is going to spread all over.
over the world.
And there will be a day that millions of people are participating in Holy Communion with us on Fridays.
Yes.
I think it's going to become the world's biggest virtual, live, global, worldwide communion service.
And Christ is here with us.
He was here.
Well, we had communion.
He was here.
and I'm not saying this to knock any ministries or anything like that,
but tell me what other ministry of any scale at all
celebrates the Lord's table on a regular basis, on a weekly basis.
If they're out there, I'm not aware of them.
But I'm just saying this is a priority that God has put on this ministry
and something we feel like it's important.
And one reason why it's important,
is it unites us in Christ.
We're not looking for just daily provision.
You can get that from, you know, the dinner table,
the refrigerator, the news.
If you want daily sustenance,
there's an earthly manor for you.
It's over there.
If that's all you want,
there's an earthly manna.
But if you're looking for a heavenly manna,
you're in the right place.
That's right.
And we did not ask you
to identify your religious
denomination.
Right.
We didn't ask you your political affiliation.
We didn't want to know your race, your ethnicity, your nationality.
We didn't want to know anything except two things.
Have you been born again and have you been baptized?
That's it.
And so.
And if you can answer yes to those two questions, you are welcome to join with us.
wherever you are in the world,
whoever you are, whatever station of life you're in,
you could be at the lowliest station of life
or you could be at the top.
Everybody's welcome, and we're all one.
No one's better than the other one.
No one's less than the other one.
We're all being given an equal portion
of the Lord's body and blood.
He's the only one dog
that can invite you to dinner
at his table.
He's the host of the dinner
and then he serves himself at the dinner.
Amen.
He's the meal.
He invites you to a dinner at his place
and then he's the meal.
He's amazing.
And then when you finish,
when you partake you the meal,
your soul has been nourished and strengthened.
He's amazing. I love him.
Amen.
If I keep talking, I'm going to go another hour talking about Jesus.
I love Jesus.
I love Jesus.
I'm going to tell you right now, I love Jesus.
If you haven't heard me say, I love Jesus.
I love him with all my heart, mine.
And I love him.
I'm amazed by him.
He's tremendous.
He's absolutely tremendous.
Thank you for being here.
We appreciate your.
your participation, your time, your prayers for this ministry.
We've got a lot of things developing right now.
We're rolling out Manna Nation.
The fuller version of Manna Nation is going to be coming out in late January, early February,
sometime.
We're working on an online platform for children called the Ark Bible Land.
and we're going to focus on children ages three to seven,
maybe eight or nine somewhere in that range.
But we're going to have Bible classes for children.
And so when you support us with your prayers and your financial gifts,
you are enabling us to build these platforms to engage people the Word of God.
For the first 26 years of my ministry,
it was focused on
on warning people
about the approaching day of the Lord
and we were heavily into news
using the news to wake up people
and then the Lord
2025 says enough
teach them my word
the ones who have listened to you teach them my word
and that's what we do now
we're completely focused on teaching the word of God
and yes people have dropped off who wanted news but a lot of new ones have dropped in
and we're growing and expanding and we're doing it in the grace of the Lord we're not making
anything happen we're just letting it happen in God's grace we're sitting back letting him
I'm not even looking for the steering wheel anymore I don't even I'm like in
Jesus's Uber van.
You know, let the Holy Spirit drive.
Just go with him.
Amen.
I guess all I want to do is just go with him.
Wherever the Holy Spirit's gone, that's where I desire to go.
And I hope you have the same attitude in 2026.
We love you very much.
We'll be back here on Monday.
Take care.
God bless you.
